Speaker 1 (00:00):
Speaking of the KRACK, and we're gonna do something fun
here before I get to some Mariner stuff. We do
something fun for me at least, I don't know. Hopefull
you guys enjoy it. I think you will. TV ratings
tell me you will, not because of me, because of them.
We're gonna have I have not done this all year.
I'm kind of feel remiss about it, but we just had.
It's just a crazy year and stuff gets out of hand.
And I'll be honest with you during this hockey season,
just a little Anderson Jess can tell you sometimes the
(00:23):
host of this show was a wee bit overwhelmed and
kind of run down and not very busy, not really
thinking straight, maybe grumpy on occasion.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
So we're having two producers.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Helps it does, it does, We'll see how long that
last thing does. Management, No, I have two producers. Keep
that to yourself.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
We're no, I would say, stressed.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Here's what we're gonna do. Enough of you. My two
analysts on the KRACK and Hockey Network on our TV
broadcast this season, Alison lukeam's with the teams this day
one and Brett fester Wing is a former NHL player
playing in the DUT with Tri Cities and Vancouver played
the NHL in Europe as well. Former Probe but played
in the NHL handful of games got run over by
Ovechkin once. He those two I worked with for probably
(01:12):
the two of them together around forty or so games,
roughly had an absolute blast with him. Learned about learn
the game. I mean, I've done play by play and
I think I kind of once, so it's like over
twelve hundred games and have covered and been around the
game for a long time. I work with those two
and I find out how little I knew, and that's
a good thing because I learned something every night and
(01:32):
we had fun. We had a blast. We do rehearsals
every night for a thirty minute pregame show and it's
an absolute gong show, like you would like. I swear.
I feel bad for my producer, I'll bring this up.
I feel bad for our producer Scott, because we're just like, yeah, whatever,
I'll probably say this okay, and Alison, I'll t you up. No,
t yep Brett okay, I'll t yep Bred okay. And
that's how we did it, and it was and then
(01:52):
we'd go on the air and those two were flawless.
Host left a lot to be desired. They were unbelievable,
but we need the three of us had fun together,
and so we're gonna wrap up the cracking seas with
those two doing TV on radio. Usually usually do radio
on TV. We're gonna actually flip the script.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Well, if you can do radio on TV, then TV
on radio should be a brief.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
I think, so we'll do that. So I'm looking forward
to that h two o'clock to day. Luke Falk is
going to join us for a Wazoo and NFL quarterback
current mind strength coach. I gotta ask him again. We
didn't really get into that last time we had him on.
He was at the spring game. He was at Wazoo
over the weekend. I want to ask about coach Rogers,
what he thinks about zeb House is the quarterback wearing
his number. By the way, Wazoo doesn't re retire numbers.
(02:29):
Luke Falk's the all time leaning passer in the PAC
twelve didn't get his number retired. Shadour played two seasons
and was one to nine against Frank teams. Got his
number ten. You did that is anyway. Luke's a good
dude played with Sam darn I'll probably ask him again
real quick about Sam because in transparency, we had him
in River Craycraft on a couple of weeks ago. It
was right during a Mariner's game, so I do I'm
(02:52):
not stupid. I understand maybe a couple of you might
have missed it in people listening to the Mariner game.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
And it was also a two person interview, so we
didn't get to deep exactly.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Exactly speaking of the baseball team, the nothing baseball related.
I said this on on X last night. Okay, what
is what? The app?
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Which app? O?
Speaker 4 (03:19):
That?
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, and I put it out there, so apparently people
are having trouble with it, but not all. What kind
of phone do you have?
Speaker 5 (03:26):
It's a Google pixelpo What a Google Pixel?
Speaker 3 (03:30):
That's a phone?
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Okay, so Google made a I thought there's like an
Android and an iPhone and the type of Android. Just
say that. Then you asked me what type of phone
I have? I tell you, And God did Shocky make
you get that phone? Because he's the only the guy
in America besides my buddy Darren Hennett has an Android.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
That's not true, because.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Has one, and so does Purple sheet.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Listen, you want to be in the Jackson. You want
to be in that world, and that's that's It's.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
You Jackson in Purple.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
She has nothing to do with this.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
No, you had an iPhone.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
When I started here, and that one day.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
The text showed up green and I.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Was, so, is that what the deals?
Speaker 5 (04:07):
So when you have a green text with someone? If
you have an iPhone and you have a green text
text a minute ago.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Chris Crawford has it.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
I know Crawford does. Yeah, Crawford and Jackson, that's all
I need.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
So, yeah, there you go.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
But Peter probably has anyway, Peter probably has one too.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
So but my point about the app is, I don't
think it's a phone thing. I think it's how you
sign in. So I have had zero issues whatsoever you
signing through. I actually just pay the twenty bucks. I
don't have a subscription through Exfinity or any of these.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
I can't ask Jess because she does everything.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
I lead VP or it's a gray area, sure, but
supposedly Chris Crawford pays something.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
Speaking of Chris in our group chat has also had
issues with the app. Also has the same phone as
I do, but he does what you do and connects
your Accinity account to it. Okay, so it's like how
you sign into it?
Speaker 3 (04:55):
You just went independent on that.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I literally just was like, I'm making mood account and pay.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Twenty bucks for in all seriousness, for us like Chris
and me and others that have comcasts already and already
have Root, we're subscribing to be paid for it. That's
that's the whole deals. You should be able to get it,
and it's been and that's and actually judging from what
I saw on social media when I kind of asked
about it last night, and I'm not complaining, keV Martinez,
if you're listening, I'm not gonna. I just want to
know what. Here's the problem. Root Sports doesn't have support
(05:20):
staff anymore. Now, trust me, I know my man Brett
and my man Justin, the two engineers they got stuff
going on, has nothing to do with that. So I
don't even know what recourse you have right who's going
to help? And there's a sign on the front of
our studios there on Root Sports that says we can't
help you because there's nobody works working here. So it's yeah,
(05:41):
so I don't know what. Hopefully my whole thing is
I just want to rattle the cage, like, let's let's
get this thing fixed, right, because.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Well, if you're already paying for it, yes, ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
That's the problem right there in lies the problem. I
heard Check this morn is really interesting conversation Check had
with with Bucky and Ashley at before I went to
the dentist for five nice good timing. Good timing. Yeah,
I was like, I think I just listened to stay here.
I don't want to get out a car anyway. But
he was talking. Chuck was talking about Saint Louis Cardinals
and one of the reasons, like they're really struggling attendance wise,
(06:12):
which has never happened. It's the Cardinals, like that's they're
They're like a hockey team in Canada, Like you don't
have to try to sell tickets, you just people show up.
And they're struggling. One of the reasons is they changed
their TV deal and they made it harder. It's like,
and I think they went with direct TV is what
Chuck was saying. Only direct TV. And if you're living
(06:33):
in a rural area outside Saint Louis, somewhere in Missouri
where his mom lives in a farm or wherever it
might be. And the other the footprint. Unless you have
direct you can't make it really difficult. See this is
the problem. And like I did have to laugh. This
is a little bit of side and I'll talk talk
about this at one forty five. You know, some people
with the with the crack and they made their announcement yesterday,
like teams that listened to their fan bases are the
(06:55):
smart ones the krack in a year ago, listen to
their fan base. We hate root sports. We cannot deal
with it. We don't want it. We need you have
a better TV option. And it was streaming option. And
it happened. Yeah, and it's streaming option. And it happened
with a with a breakfast that liwiki had in December
of twenty twenty three, and they started the wheels in motion.
How do we break the contract we're going to take
(07:17):
I mean, the rights fees not gonna be the same
if we go to over the air, but we're gonna
go to Prime what have you. And they grew their audience.
We you know this, I mean I'll be blunt with you.
We tripled our ratings and then some this year for
pre in game and postgame, and it was because of accessibility.
I'd sure like to think it was because of the host,
but it wasn't. It was because of accessibility. Oh yeah,
(07:40):
it was. It was honestly, it was like a point one, okay,
point one, but it was. It was. It was accessibility, yes,
because like I understand, it wasn't just King Kong.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
You can only could stream if you had Fubo.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Right before, right now, it's like everyone has. If you're
a sports fan, you don't have Prime, then you're not
watching football right because the NFL has that package. So
the point is this, you Baseball, NHL, I think the
NBA for a lot of markets, you need to make
it easy and then if you try to make it easy,
(08:13):
you better make it work. Like it better work. It
can't not work. You can't have people paying for something
they're not getting. And then if it's not working, you
better have some form of customer service. There's no recourse,
and so you don't you don't have the luxury. You
just don't have the luxury of going out there and
(08:35):
you know, throwing something out and saying, ah, you know,
you're trying to grow your audience. That's what you're doing.
You're trying to grow the audience. Know, the Kraken played
to in terms of tickets out one hundred percent capacity
again the season, in terms of butts in the seats
about ninety percent or more almost every game and a
lot of times one hundred of top ten top ten
(08:56):
in NHL in terms of butts in the seats in
terms of percent to capacity. They saw there was a
problem Marriers aren't playing to that. They got a bigger stadium,
obviously more games. I understand that, but you need to
make it easy. You can't have people going, especially like
when you're playing these afternoon games. Like That's why I
got to the rink early yesterday. I'm like, oh, I
watch the mirrors. Couldn't pay for it, couldn't watch it.
(09:16):
Probably a good thing. Well, yeah, I was able to.
I was able to follow the game. Chris and Nathan
tell me what was going on? So that was good. Uh,
Dylan Moore, what what's wrong with Castile? And oh my god,
Jone needs to chill.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
Louis Castillos one, he's awful.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
I did like the fact he blamed it on the wind.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
That was one dude between like white T shirts, Marine Layer,
Sunglare and win.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
It's just it's one day.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
First of all, I'll take that guy almost any day. Fact,
i'd take him over anybody except for probably Logan Gilbert
on this, on this for a big game start, I
don't I do get a bad game, Yeah, I do
think this. You guys can't. You guys can't say Marine
Layer and then win blowing a great America ballpark, right, Like, dude,
that would have been you know, I love my favorite
(10:08):
thing of baseball. That would have been a home run
in any other ballpark. That wouldn't have been a home
run in any other ballpark. Well, you know what, we
have the same We play golf, play better? Yeah, how
about this pitch better? But I don't worry about that.
It's listen, He's not the guy to worry about. Yeah,
that's bush. Bullpen's a different sort. That is a different story.
Bullpen is a different story. We should get to all right,
we're gonna come back. We'll check in with my two friends,
(10:28):
Alison Luke, camb Brett fest Willing. This should be fine.
We'll do it next.
Speaker 7 (10:34):
You're listening to the Home of the Husky, the Kreken
and Seattle's Best NFL Draft coverage gen the twenty twenty
five NFL Draft. Now back to Ian Fernez, probably brought
to you by Snowball Meet Casino on Sports Radio ninety
three point three kJ R FM.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
I wanted to make them feel at home, Anders, That's
what I wanted to do. I wanted to make him
feel at home. Huhn it, Mike, give it. Actually might
give them chills and say, oh God, we were doing
something there. Yes, Oh all right, hey, welcome back in
sports for day night three point three k our family
in fornat with you. Our show brought to by snow
Call me Casinosnocasino dot com.
Speaker 8 (11:19):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Cracking wrapped up season number four last night, and I've
been meaning to do this all year, and I fought
a couple of weeks ago. You know what, the best
time to do this, We'll get the band together for
an end of the season to rap. And when I
mean the band, the two best analysts in the game,
my friends Alice and Luken Brett Festerling, who somehow put
up with me all season long on the Crack and
Hockey Network year one of that. They join us right
(11:40):
now in the Beacon Plumbing Hotline Allison, how are you?
Speaker 8 (11:44):
I'm great, but Ian, you're checked and clear, so you
still owe me. I'm just kidding. It's awesome to be
with you, guys. I miss you.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
H Brett, how are we doing, Buddy.
Speaker 6 (11:53):
I'm doing great. Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
I got a little nervous when I heard that theme music. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Did you think it was ready to go? Yeah? Do
you think it was rehearsed? You guys got to Allison,
you could probably tell the story. I was trying to
mention it earlier. And I'll just take people behind the
scenes for a second. And our listeners. I mean, we're
on the home of the Crack and we talk hockey
on our show, probably more than any other show in
the market. And I was telling Anders and Jesse here
a minute ago. I said, if people ever saw or
watched our rehearsals for our pregame show, they would ask themselves,
(12:22):
how in the hell do they get on the air? Allison,
I don't know if that was like pre Ian and Brett,
but it was a gong show this year.
Speaker 8 (12:29):
Well, and that's.
Speaker 9 (12:30):
Probably mostly my fault, let's be honest, because I just
find everything hilarious and I like to make Brett crack
up and change teases and not know what I'm doing.
Speaker 8 (12:38):
So but yeah, No, it's fun and I think it
makes uh, it.
Speaker 9 (12:41):
Makes our team special because we love working with each
other so much. Honestly, it makes them for the real product.
Speaker 8 (12:48):
Better because we know we have to be better than
what we did when we practiced.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Allison, I was worried about our We have a great producer,
Scott Malone is and I use this term, and he
liked the ray Man. I think this guy knows more
about out stuff, TV, hockey stats and every like. He
is unbelievable. The mind on this guy's unreal. But I
mean when it comes to TV, he's as serious as
day as long. And Allison, I don't know if if
we probably caused him to age a few years this
year as we're going through.
Speaker 6 (13:13):
That or not.
Speaker 8 (13:16):
No, he loves us just like we love him. I
know that to be true.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Brett, your first year in TV, what jumped out? How
much fun was it or how stressful was it having
to work with the two of us?
Speaker 6 (13:26):
Well, it was it was a lot of fun. It
was definitely stressful rehearsal. We yeah, we we'd set the
bar kind of. I don't want to say low, but
we had set a certain bar and then yeah, it
was nice to it was nice to come out above that.
So I was always amazed how we actually brought it together.
And definitely I didn't know what Scott, what mood Scott
was going to be and by the time we got there,
(13:48):
because yeah, we definitely tested his patience in some of
those rehearsals.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
We have a great crew and the behind the scenes
crew and Allison Can we've good to hockey in a second,
are behind the scenes scenes crew. And I've mentioned you
know a lot of them work on Marin a broadcast
or and some of that's been changing. Just to shout
out Alison Hantu are behind the scenes crew, not just
Scott Malan our producer, but boy, what a great group
of people that work in from the cameras to the audio,
the editing. Stuvi too are our great editor, all these
(14:13):
What a great group we had.
Speaker 8 (14:16):
Yeah, I mean, I think for all of you who watch,
and we thank you so much for that.
Speaker 9 (14:19):
You know, it's it's not just us and what we say,
it's you know, the way the show looks, the way
that things flow, the fact that we have images and
graphics and video and music and you know, graphics that
move and have integrated pieces.
Speaker 8 (14:36):
It is the work of hundreds of people who blow
my mind. If you ever just watch these people work.
We get to walk through the control room and we're
at the studio.
Speaker 9 (14:45):
There's like a thousand buttons and a thousand voices, and
yet they are coordinating this symphony and it is I
have so much respect for everyone we've worked with. They
are what make our show great. We are just lucky
to put words to on top of all of their efforts.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
I here there. I agree with you one hundred percent.
They're great, and that whole from Doug de Lacy. I
can't mention Chance, the whole group. They're just they're phenomenal.
We miss him in the offseason. Hope to see him
all next year. Let's get to hockey. Alison Luke Cambrett
festaling with me from the KRACK and Hockey Network. Allison,
I'll start with you. We'll go with the good first
and we'll kind of look ahead to what needs to change.
(15:21):
But what was good about this season for the Kraken
and their fans?
Speaker 9 (15:25):
Yeah, I mean I think what was good was you
saw the youth that Ron Francis and his or his
front office had built show that the talent of picking
those players is spot on. You know, you see a
Shane Wright take a next step. You see a Maddie
Beiner take Benier's take a next nice next step. You
see a young Coppocco come in through a really smart
(15:47):
trade and show that he can be a valuable asset.
So I think the youth and the skating side, and
then you know, obviously Ryker Evans is there too, And
then you see Joey Decord And we mentioned this all
the time, you know, we saw his skill, and I
think what we saw this year was his ability.
Speaker 8 (16:03):
And Dan Bielsman talked about this a little bit the
other day.
Speaker 9 (16:06):
And now he has the skill and on top of that,
he's learned to add the endurance that it requires to
be a number one goaltender in the NHL who can
also take on a postseason work.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Cloth Brett, what do you say, what was where the
highlights and the things that crack and fans should be
excited about.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
Yeah, I mean, just so hop on Alison.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
There the youth.
Speaker 6 (16:25):
I think for me, looking forward, it's nice to see
the runway they have with that with that group of
young talents definitely in the middle, really really makes me
look forward to Veneers and right, and then even a
guy like Evan to me, he saw him take a
step this year in terms of kind of stepping in
when Donn was heard at the beginning of the year
(16:47):
took his play to another level. And then you know,
we saw maybe a little bit of I don't want
to say drop off, but maybe just a little tired
at the end of the year. But I like to see,
you know, another jump, and I think he can really
kind of solidify himself into a you know, hopefully a
three to four role. But the youth in the runway
(17:07):
they have there on those guys has been awesome. Obviously
some of the cap room going into the summer, that's
nice when you look at acquisitions of Montur and Stevenson
and how they were able to contribute. I mean, Montur
I think was a leader on the ice as well
as off the aches in terms of getting the group
together and kind of having that lively personality and Stevenson's
(17:29):
skill and passing. So if they can have some more
of those pieces, I think that was really exciting. And yeah,
Joey was phenomenal in terms of taking that ball and
run with running with it. This year, he gave them
a chance every night, and we saw some of that
skill come out a lot of comeback games or one
goal games, even games like last night, where you know
he can keep them close and just give them an
(17:51):
opportunity to win every night. So a lot of things
look forward there, and I think the runway where you
can see that they can take steps to get better
and start to really compete for playoff spots and hopefully
beyond coming up.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Here, Brett, you'd start with this, Allison, jump in when
he's done. We'll pretending like a Steve even though he
can't see each other, but jump in afterwards. I had
somebody tell me last night and then I saw something
online today, and this teaches me to not ever look
at social media and being online. But I heard the
following one Chandler Stevenson just had an awful year. And
then the other one was I can't believe how Brennan
(18:23):
Montour was, especially in his own zone, but he made
no impact whatsoever. Those are two things I heard, and
I just I thought, okay, I've got to get the
reaction of these two. So Brett, I'll let you start.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
I mean, Montre was definitely not terroly he was. I
think for him to come in and have the impact
he did, especially on the ice from a new team,
I think he was phenomenal. And I think everybody talks
about his personality and that he's lively being in locker rooms.
That's a big thing. You need guys that kind of
(18:55):
It's a grag eighty two game schedule is a lot
of hockey, and people are going through the same ups
and downs as everybody listening. It's it's hard to keep
kind of your those lively spirits when you got those
kind of guys in there, especially when you're going through
important games in December and January and February. Those guys
are huge. So I think that was a great addition.
(19:15):
And Stevenson, I think just the plays he makes are
you're you know, and Helston highlighted a lot during the
year how good he is at passing and connecting on passes,
highest in the league. I think he just adds so
much connectivity through the middle of the ice and getting
up So I think, you know, when you look at
some of the struggles they had early on in terms
(19:36):
of getting pucks going north and breaking pucks out and
really having you know, the execution in the middle of
the ice to sustain rush opportunities. I think he was huge.
So I really like the steps those guys both took,
you know, and Montour said a goal high for himself
coming off numbers that a lot of people didn't think
(19:57):
you would ever hit again. So I mean, I would
strongly disagree with that, and I thought they were both
positives for the season for Seattle.
Speaker 9 (20:05):
Yeah, you know, I yeah, obviously I'm gonna trust Brett's
eyes first as a former player and knowing what goes
on inside a room is huge. But you know, I
think this, and I'm the numbers person. We know that,
but I think this is where we have to go
beyond even just the stat line. And I will of
course mention that that quote unquote bad Chandler Stevenson was
second on the team in points and in assists, so
(20:27):
you know, but you look at a Chandler Stevenson, then
Brett mentioned it, but there's so much that maybe we
don't measure or can't measure, and passes don't show up
on a score sheet. But he's literally the best forward
in the NHL in passing the season the best not
on his.
Speaker 8 (20:46):
Team in the NHL. So he is creating plays.
Speaker 9 (20:49):
He's that connective tissue, like Brett just said, and his skating.
We've talked about this a ton of times. He's so
good at it that it looks easy. And I think
too with both of these players, what's interesting to think about,
and particularly with Chandler Stevenson is even some of his
underlying numbers aren't super friendly, but that's because of how
he's deployed right. Usage makes a big difference, and this
(21:12):
is a player who's asked to be defensively responsible so
that the other younger centers on this team can grow
and be successful. So that's where he's starting his play
a lot of time, and he's doing his job, as
Brett pointed.
Speaker 8 (21:24):
Out, to get the play on the other end, and
then he's off the ice. So you have to look
at how these players are being utilized.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
And again I point to exactly what Brett said with Montour,
two years ago was a career year for Montour. Everyone said, oh,
he got lucky, and then he comes in to a
ten new team that arguably didn't have the horses around
him that he had in Florida that year, and he
bests it in terms of the numbers of goals he
can score.
Speaker 8 (21:47):
So you have to anticipate that now.
Speaker 9 (21:49):
With a full offseason, the man hasn't had a full,
healthy off season in quite some time, that he can
be primed for an even better return next year for Seattle.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Yeah, he played all way through mid to late June,
the last couple of years of a grind, and the
guy averaged almost twenty three minutes a game, twenty two
to fifty nine. So like he played a ton, he's
got to be gassed along the way. And I Brett,
I don't know about you, is Allison's describing Chandler Stevenson.
I had some Stu video and Bett downsting in my head.
I had like I'm looking, I'm waiting for the little graphic,
you know, like and here's the past. I'm missing that
(22:19):
stuff already, you know, only we're only a few days
out of doing our last broadcast. But that's the thing
I think if you, if you watch Chandler Stevens, when
fans say, okay, what did he give you for his
contract in the seven years? First of all, because he's
such an effortless skater. I think, Brett, you described it.
He looks like he's skating on top of the ice,
like you know. It just he's so effortless. He does
things he doesn't look like he's trying, and yet he'll
hit a switch and he'll blow by a guy like
(22:41):
he did that last night to draw a penalty shot.
And I mean, I know he's skating is a lead,
isn't it, Brett?
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Yeah, extremely, it's he's floating over there and exactly. And
the guy that I mean I most watched was Bieinermeier
where he break the puck out and it didn't look
like he took a stride and then he's got a breakaway.
And I feel like Steven's and gets a lot of
or creates a lot of two on one or three
on two opportunities because he's the guy that is being
that defensively responsible player but is able to use that
(23:10):
momentum or kind of cruiser that neutral zone and then
all of a sudden you're getting opportunities. So yeah, he's
he's as a player, he's frustrating to watch because of
how he makes it look, especially the little place that
I mean, that's what I think goes unnoticed by an
average fan. Is there's a lot of three, four or
(23:31):
five foot passes that look very very easy. But when
you have the speed and the size and of the
NHL game, especially in the rink whenever he's protecting the middle,
he seems to connect on more of those. And he
does obviously by the numbers. But it looks too easy.
But he he he executes at an extremely elite level
(23:53):
for for what he does out there. So yeah, it
looks way too easy for him.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
All right, enough Bouquets, because at sports Radio we got
to go negative. That's how we do it. The reality
is they didn't make the playoffs and so things did
go wrong and things need to be improved. Alison, starting
with you, what what was the reason everly missing forty games?
Speaker 6 (24:12):
Done?
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Joey?
Speaker 4 (24:13):
What have you?
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Some injuries come into play this for sure, but what
is it that really went wrong with this team? Because
it looked to be talented on paper. And so with
that being said, what went wrong? What needs to change?
Speaker 8 (24:24):
Yeah, so we're in the.
Speaker 9 (24:25):
Middle of exit interviews today actually, and we had kind
of most of the most senior members of the team
go first. So you're looking at Captain, Jordan Eberley, Jared McCann,
Vince Dunn, etc.
Speaker 8 (24:36):
Jayon Schwartz.
Speaker 9 (24:37):
And you know the theme that these guys are saying,
and I don't think this is going to come as
a surprise to all of us who watched, is consistency.
They couldn't find a way to return a consistent effort
game after game after game. And you know, something that
Chandler Stevenson said stuck out to me too. He was
talking about how he thought maybe they got a little,
you know, kind of two in their own head and
(24:59):
they were too maybe not afraid, but they weren't forcing
past an uncomfortable moment to keep pushing when things got
maybe a little difficult.
Speaker 8 (25:08):
So I think inconsistency for sure.
Speaker 9 (25:11):
And then you know, you look at those injuries and
you say those are big losses, but we all know
that in all sports, every team deals with injury, and
I think this does highlight and I'm sure the front
office here is looking at this is you can't lose
your best players, of course, but you have to continue
to bolster your ranks with talent that can fill those
holes when that talent is out. And this is a
(25:33):
young organization, they're still in that process. So it's not
that the sky is falling by any means, but there
needs to be a continued bolstering of who's there to
be the next skater up when that request comes, because
it's going to come every season and you have to
have the waves of talent to shore up things when
someone goes out.
Speaker 6 (25:51):
Brett, what do you think, Yeah, Yeah, consistency is definitely
the big one. We saw them compete with some big
clubs in pretty big times of the year. I'll point
to kind of right after the Four Nations when they
went into Florida and got two wins back or against
Florida and Tampa. There consistency, I think, yeah, brings a
(26:12):
lot of those numbers up. Like I think if you
look at Power Playing PK, you're in twenty third and
twenty first. You know, those kind of things seem to
improve and get into the middle or upper pack if
you can just perform more on a nightly basis. So
it's definitely that like oh and twelve on back to
backs this year really really stands out to me. It's
I think finding that b game where you are tired,
(26:35):
and this goes to some of what else and touched
on is just finding out whether it is bolstering the
talent in terms of a game breaker or trying to
get that. I know everybody would like to see that.
Those are not easy to get in this league. There
they come at a premium and teams are getting away
from letting them go to free agencies. Those are hard
to get. But whether it's that or the depth where
(26:56):
you get into back to backs or you get into
dog days and you don't have one hundred percent game,
you're still finding ways to win it. In terms of
your defensive system and all that. I think that partly
comes with a new coaching staff and a little bit
new systems there with some new new players. But now
you've had a year there to maybe tighten up that backhand.
I'd like to see neutral zone and probably defending rushes
(27:19):
get a little better, probably more on the consistent level.
We did see times in the year where they were
one of the better teams in denying the rush, and
then other games you just see that leg where they
probably give up a little too much, too easy, and
there's always kind of one or two goals that ends up,
you know, being the straw that breaks the Camel's back,
so consistency all around bull string lineup. I'd like to
(27:41):
see maybe if they put some of that twenty million
towards a higher end player, not easy to get, but
definitely adding more depth where you can where you have
those kind of consistent efforts where you need a B
game that can compete and find ways to get points,
and that comes up huge and making playoffs when you
reach April.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
All right, we'll wrap it up with this real quick, Alison.
I'll just read through the list and you tell me
who we won't say, should they say or should they go?
Just a couple guys that you think would be Probably
we'll worry about the other teams free agents. Brett, you're
right they should go on. They should get a guy
like that Conor McDavid. Guy's good, Maybe get him.
Speaker 8 (28:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
One of those guys. They're easy to find, aren't They
just go grab one of those, right Andrews? Can we
just grab one of those guys? Are good players, good
hockey players. These are the UFAs and the restricted free agents.
Coppo Coco restricted free agent, car Cha restricted, Michael Acimont unrestricted,
John Hayden unrestricted, Riker Is restricted and Josh mhura Is
(28:36):
is an unrestricted free agent. Those are the free agents
on the crack and roster right now, Allison, who are
those priorities for them to get done?
Speaker 9 (28:43):
Oh and I'd like to point out on that last answer,
which one of us two had all the numbers he
was thrown.
Speaker 8 (28:48):
Out and the other one was going solely on vibes.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
But here we are, Wow, here we are, Brett, I.
Speaker 9 (28:56):
Would say that, you know, obviously, I think Coppocco is
probably at the top of that list for this team.
Ryker Evans obviously seems to be a lost to talk to,
and there's obviously team control there. The rest of these players,
I think we're in a spot as most teams get
to be, but a big one for the Kraken of
how much more of the youth is going to start
(29:17):
pushing from below? What spots do they take they need
to be slotted into the right spots, not just any spot.
Speaker 8 (29:24):
And then depending on that decision, what in.
Speaker 9 (29:27):
Terms of these UFAs in particular, what role are they
willing to accept based on what these young players might
be pushing for. So I think a whole judgment on
some of the UFAs for right now and keep a
close side, particularly on this AHL playoffs, to see what
these young players can do, is they reach the next
level of pressure to try and push you know, this is.
Speaker 8 (29:47):
A younger team.
Speaker 9 (29:48):
They're a little different look than the Coachella teams we
saw go to the final for the past two years.
But again, for me, it's about how do they perform,
not necessarily how far do they go, and then seeing
where you think they may or may not be ready
to push for any spot next year.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
Bright Copple's he's a priority, right, That's that's an obvious
one I gave. I gave Alison a lay in. I
mean that's just like that's a that's an empty nat
of Gaver basically. But yes, Cops, is that he's not
only the he's a priority, Like he's got to be
a big time priority.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
Yeah, I think, And we just you know, going back
to last week, we talked about Seattle before and after Coco,
and it just seemed like he seemed to the team
see or the team really rallied around kind of more
of that possession, grind game and working and low, and
you saw guys like Niers elevate their game. Schwartz ended
up kind of elevating his game as well, So Cackle
(30:38):
is definitely number one. Yeah, I really want to see
Evans and what he can do in terms of elevating
his game again next year. I think he did a
great job this year for the most part. A month
to me is an unrestricted is interesting again, this this
touches on what Alison showed some great speed, he showed
the willingness to take on that role of that past
(31:00):
and that fourth line. Does he have you know that
that's usually a position that those young guys would take,
So it does go back to those young guys. Do
you see young guys filling in from Coachella into those
spots and is that their opportunity or do you want
more of a solid guy that maybe brings a certain
level every night, which we I think a Simon was
(31:22):
really trying to prove himself since he came in and
did a good job of showing his speed and his
willingness to create, whether it was havoc or or go
into the net or speed or whatever it was. So
those ones are interesting to me. And then yeah, it
will be interesting to see how Coachella and these young
guys are able to take a step here coming into camp.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
Guys, thank you so much. I appreciate it, and in
all seriousness, honestly, like I I've told people this, and
I even tell like Andrews and guys here, it didn't
feel like work. It honestly did Maybe a couple of
those back to backs felt like work. Maybe I'll be honest,
what maybe Alison, maybe a couple of those early mornings
on a Sunday kind of felt like work at Root Sports.
But the two of you, I hope it translated on
(32:03):
the air. We had fun and we had a ton
of fun, especially like we've joke about rehearsals or intermissions
and the stuff that goes on behind the scenes, and
we had fun. Allison, you were kind of our leader,
you were the veteran. You led us through everything and
and welcome Brett and I in along with Scott, and
I appreciate it more than I can tell you. But
we had a ton of fun, and hopefully we're going
to run the band back together and do it again
(32:25):
next year as well. But Alison, thank you so much,
Oh thank you both.
Speaker 8 (32:29):
It was such a pleasure and enjoy And Brett, we're
so glad you're with us. Ian. We're so glad you're
with us, and here's hopefully many more.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Let's do it. Brett, well done, rookie, first first year
and TV and you never know it, man, you just
you absolutely crushed it. Bud absolutely crushed it. There he is, Huh,
Benier's infesterling just like that too in the Crafted organization. Brett,
enjoy your work in the world of lumber and terrace
north of the Border and we'll leave you with that.
All right.
Speaker 6 (32:55):
Yeah, thank you guys so much. It was so much fun.
And then yeah, thanks for showing me the ropes. A
lot to learn, but you guys led the wholeway. I
appreciate everything.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Good times, Allison, get back to locker clean out. I
know you got some work to do for the website
and everything else. We'll talk soon. Thank you guys, Thank
your guys. There you go, Alison, Luke, Cambrett, Festling, ton
of fun, enjoyed with those guys. Will put a rap
on the hockey season, touching on some Mariner's information coming
up next nine three point three. Ky Dreffm, you're listening
(33:23):
to the.
Speaker 7 (33:23):
Home of the Husky, the Kruken, and Settle's best NFL
Draft coverage gen the twenty twenty five NFL Draft. Now
back to Ian Fernez, probably brought to you by Snowball
Me Casino on Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ
R FM.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
All Right, a couple of things want to hit on
here real quick. One that was we'll just consider that
our daily power play. I we want to go, brought
to you by Ista Quahanta Caboda. The largest inventory of
Kaboda tractors and construction equipment in King County, plus with
steel and Honda power tools is the Kauahanta Caboda. Is
your one stop shop? Is the Kauahanta Cabota. Right off
Fine ninety x fifteen largest inventory of Caboda equipment in county.
(34:00):
Right we got off the air, Allison was tweeted a
couple of things. She just got the who's going to
play for World? The World Championships? Hockey has World Championships
every year. Starts a week or so after the NHL
regular season ends, So teams that are in the playoffs,
a lot of guys will go over Bruna mon Tour Uh,
let's see Monteur, Larson, Grubauer, Matty Benier's all gonna play
(34:21):
for their various countries. Also, Ellie tolven In, I don't
see anything on Copple cocko, but he did play in
the Four Nations so may have been invited. Vince Dunne,
according to Allison, invited but not going. I think he's
got health issues. He didn't look right. No, he did not.
He didn't look right. Even in hockey, even at the
end of the season. There'll be guys undergoing surgeries and
(34:42):
all this kind of stuff and we won't know for
a while, but he didn't look If he's not going,
it's because he's got to get something fixed.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
They're also very like upper buddy, lower body right, like
we'll never really.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Yeah exactly, play injured a lot more often than baseball players.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Yeah, we'll find out, like in the fall out training camp.
Oh yeah, by the way, Vince done at the end
of the season, have this this and this procedure done.
That's why you can go to World Championships. How about
that anyway, So good for them. Bennear's playing for Team USA,
Adam Larson, Monteur Grubau or playing for their countries and uh,
like I said Tolvin and also playing for Finland, So
good for them. Okay, what's what's the Mariner's lineup look like?
(35:17):
Is rowdy to Lesidon? And again, is that what I'm seeing?
Speaker 10 (35:20):
Is that?
Speaker 4 (35:20):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (35:21):
I only say that's just because is there anything in
this town that gets people more upset on a daily
basis than the Mariner's lineup? There it is tried and
up here we go. Let's see Julio, you're happy and
there's you're happy.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
I I shouldn't hate because right after I said, oh,
demotion be your lead off guy hits two home runs?
Speaker 3 (35:40):
Who he scored all their runs?
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Did you see him? Did you see him running the bases? No,
he had his middle finger up and he's going. And
that's what he did.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
I'm sure he was.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
That's what he did.
Speaker 6 (35:50):
I saw it.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
I saw with my own eyes. No, I don't on
the on the app that I couldn't get to work.
Speaker 10 (35:54):
I saw that.
Speaker 5 (35:55):
That's less lineup, that's less of a demo thing for
me and more of I think Julio's better in the
leadoff spot.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
He's better when he starts things than not does.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
To get marked in here to ask him about who
we or not?
Speaker 5 (36:04):
No, think uh hord plank A second. I like that
cal third catching out like that.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Well, go by the way dhing today, Yes, because he
should be a DH because he can't play in the.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
Finding, He's going to be most of DH. But what's
curious to me is that they're only playing a versus
righties right now. So I'm going to keep an eye
on that as we go forward. Luke Rayley rally till
his first base stilling more once again, your last, your six, seven,
eight nine hitters, or your entire infield. We're gonna see
that a lot.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
That is crazy first, second, third, and shortstop bars six seven,
eight nine. It is the most top heavy. It is
the most top heavy lineup in baseball.
Speaker 5 (36:40):
But we heard from Joe she and yesterday that's not
an uncommon thing in baseball nowadays. There's less like one
through nine hammers.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
I thought if people missed that, Yesterdy Joe she was
checking out. I think if you listen to that as
a Seahawks fan, you probably come away feel a little
more encouraged. Seahawk does I say Seahawks as I'm looking
up at the draft session. Sorry, If you listen to
that as a Mariner fan, yes, I think you would.
Joe had to say yesterday I think you come away
pretty encourage.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
Yeah, because I think a lot of people get tunnel
vision when they watch the favorite baseball team play and
it's like, oh my god, like our top top fall
line up is great, we're striking out too much, you know,
all these things that are happening in the rest of
baseball as well. So like I think it's it's easy
to get go down the rabbit hole, especially with the Mariners.
I totally understand. The thing that's worrisome for me is
(37:23):
we can talk about is the bullpen. Yes, yes, because
there seems to be a real issue getting to munjos
right now and who.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
They need brash. They need brash healthy soon they do,
because that bumps everybody back down to probably where they should.
They should be right along the way by the way,
I'm just looking at when the Manners tweeted out their lineup,
we could have a fun game of three replies. Read
the replies to the lineup.
Speaker 6 (37:47):
Some can see.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Any batting blank blank ahead. A blank blank is a
blank blank insult to the sports. Let's see yeah talking
about Oh yeah, I know we can't read these.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Here, ye, no, we cannot.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
I'm entertained by them. Check it out while you still listen.
I don't like I'm a Jess, so I don't mind
that line up.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
Yeah, I actually like it. I like leading off as well.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
If we're being honest, like Dylan Moore as your number
seven hitter, that's fine.
Speaker 5 (38:15):
Well, And like a lot of people think, oh, he
has two home runs, why is he not leading off
or hitting second or third?
Speaker 2 (38:20):
Again?
Speaker 4 (38:21):
Because because you want him with running runners and scoring position.
Speaker 5 (38:24):
You're going against a rity today. Dylan notoriously is much
better versus left handed pitching than he is against righty
So okay, we're good, We're good.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
All right, we'll check in talk a little college football.
Our friend Luke Falk also asking about Sam Darnold will
join us coming up next.
Speaker 7 (38:41):

M's wind streak snapped yesterday for lost to Cincinnati. Dylan Moore,
though the bright spot homeer twice, drove in all four
Seattle runs. Luis Castile a little bit of rough night
going back home to Cincinnati's first home Major League baseball home.
I should say just went four and a third, gave
up seven hit, six runs walked for. Greg Gusantos also
struggled in relief. He got sent down today. Continue the
(39:10):
series today in Cincinnati. Bryce Miller on the mound. Julio
is leading off in tonight's lineup the three forty first
pitch there. Cracking wrapped up their season last night against
the La King six to five loss at Climbing Pledgerna
made a strong comeback but fell just short. That's okay.
Helps with the lottery picks. We're okay with that thirty five,
forty one and six disappointing record this season. If we
missed it earlier, we talked to Alison Lukemabrettfesterling from the

talked to him a couple weeks ago along with his
old teammate River Craycraft is now with Seattle Seahawk, and
(40:55):
I said, you know, at the time we're going, there's
Marrors game going on, lots of stuff's going on. I
want to get him back on. I want to revisit
a couple of topics, talk about Wazoo spring game, get
his thoughts on the new coaching staff out there as well.
He was in Pullman last week for a couple of events.
So joining us right now, I'll introduce him this way.
Of course, he's a uh current mind and strength coach.
Well to find out what that is in a second,
(41:15):
I could probably all you can all use help with that,
Andrew you especially, Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
My mental strength isn't there No, okay, neither is mine.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Do push ups?
Speaker 1 (41:24):
Yeah, do something. But I like to say the all
time leading passer in the PAC twelve conference, Luke Falk
with us right now. Hello, sir, how are you?
Speaker 11 (41:33):
I'm doing well? Ian Jessman. How you guys?
Speaker 1 (41:36):
What we're going?
Speaker 11 (41:37):
We're good?
Speaker 4 (41:38):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (41:38):
Did they retire your number at Wazoo, because I mean
she do or standards got his number retire and he
didn't do much, so did they retire your number there
was yet No, No.
Speaker 11 (41:47):
I'm pretty sure they gave it to a walk.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
On after I.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
But hey, he's our starter now, he's our starter mind Yeah,
that was the year after.
Speaker 11 (41:57):
Ye, they gave it to walk On. He's definitely out
of walk On. He's much higher caliber.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
I like it real quick. What is a mind strength coach?
What do you do in these east help catch people
up a little bit there?
Speaker 11 (42:10):
Yeah, no, great question. I mean think about athletes have
a strength coach in the weight room. They've got these
coaches out on the field, but who's really helping them
develop and strengthen their mind. I'm not talking about, you know,
the rehab portion. I'm talking about how to be able
to access their full God given ability out on the field.
Because I look back on my career and the games
(42:32):
that I played great I was mentally locked in and
the great the games I didn't. I wasn't there mentally,
and it had nothing to do with my physical capabilities. Yeah,
I was pretty limited in that area anyways. But I
think it's the most case for most athletes. Their mind
is either their greatest interference or their greatest asset. And
I tried or not try. I've got to proven track
(42:53):
record of being able to help these athletes get to
their peak performance. It's been a lot of fun. It
was the game changing thing for me in my career
where I've battle a lot of self doubt, lack of confidence,
you know, insecurities early on, and then I met with
the mental performance coach and it changed my life. So
I'm doing the same. It's been a lot of fun.
And you know, it's not a bat person trying to
(43:14):
sell a diet here. It's not a broke person trying
to sell somebody how to get rich. I've done it.
I've lived the principles and you know, now been able
to coach people through it too. So it's been a
lot of fun. And just got to tell it's the
most rewarding career to be able to see a kid
when state championships, conference championships, earned scholarships, but those all
(43:37):
fell in comparison to seeing that new inner strength and
confidence that becomes their new norms. So that's really what
I'm after.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
I love that, you know, with the NFL Draft coming up, Luke,
the you know, we're seeing you know, forty times and
Cone times and all this stuff, and you played in
the NFL. You've been there and played in Division one
college football for a team that was ranked a lot
under the great, late great Mike Leach as well. What's
the difference between you know, the top player we'll just say,
(44:07):
like a good player in the NFL and a guy
that's that's you know, getting cut in August. Is it
what you just talked about? How much of it is mental?
Speaker 8 (44:17):
Well?
Speaker 11 (44:17):
I like to ask that question to people and generally
most of them say, yeah, the mental outways of physical.
I'm like, well, put a percentage on it is at
eighty twenty seventy thirty. And then I said, whatever your
answer is, do you train in proportion of that? The
answer is a definite no. Right, most people spend most
of their time on the physical portion of the game.
But I do think it's a huge it's a huge part.
I think it is the part. You know, you get
(44:39):
these guys talent without mind strength. I always says talent wasted.
I've seen it time and time again. I wasn't the
most talented at Washington State. I was able to piece
it together mentally, though, and that's what allowed me to
climb the ranks. There are plenty of guys that had
way more physical capabilities and athleticism than I had. And
then guess what, why did I fizzle out in the NFL?
I quit working on the thing that got me there.
(45:01):
I quit working on my mind strength. I allowed the
trappings of success to get the best of men, allowed
a poor, negative environment to get the best of me,
and I quit working on the thing that got me there.
So I'm a firm, firm believer. It is the missing link,
or it is the key contributor to whether somebody's successful
or not.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
How much of how much of that too is the
pressure that especially young athletes are going through these days,
Like we're the portal's open again. I don't know does
a portal ever close? It feels like it's always open,
but apparently it's open again, revolving dor it is right,
it's open again, And I just I'll use a good example.
I don't want to use the kid from from Tennessee
that's that's maybe going to UCLA, the quarterback. I'm gonna
(45:43):
use a different one. And not to pick on him
because he's a former Husky, but just I thought it
was interesting. Jack McAllister was a three year starter as
a punter for Washington, transferred to Nebraska. Now he's transferring again. Now,
some of these guys are chasing money. But and sometimes
when you're chasing money, there's pressure from the families or
what have you. I'm trying to make them more money
I can, because maybe I'll never play pro what have you.
But when you talk about the mental side of football
(46:05):
or college athletics or even the pros, how stressful is it?
And how much of the training that you talk to
young people? Listen, if we're being honest, I mean you
know this.
Speaker 4 (46:15):
I know this.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
We work with the Lynsky family. There's there's undue pressure.
There's crazy pressure on young people in sports today. How
much of that is what you're able to help young
people with?
Speaker 11 (46:26):
Yeah, no, great question. I mean these athletes are getting
bombarded by so much in the external world. And mind
strength to me is about mastering the inner world so
you can handle anything that the external world throws at you.
I'll just use this old high performance formula that my
my strength coach used, you know, my mental strength coach
used with me. So potential plus training minus interference. Well,
(46:48):
potential I can't do anything about, right, That's what we're given,
but we can work on maximizing our training and mitigating
the interference. So certainly, like you said, who's in your
core five, who are the people that you're interacting with,
What are you taking in social media wise, this, that,
and the other. Who are you allowing in your inner circle?
Those are a big part of the interference portion. What
(47:09):
are you choosing to focus on and not focused on?
So a lot of it is absolutely mitigating the interference.
And a lot of times coaches are an athlete's great
at source of interference. Sometimes parents are an athlete's great
at source of interference, So finding ways and methods to
be able to help them no matter what is going
on in the external world, no matter what somebody says
to you, they have the confidence and the resilience to
(47:33):
be able to handle anything. So it's certainly a big part.
I think it's definitely needed now more than ever, especially
with the way the college landscape's going, because it's trickled
down in the it's trickled down into high school, and
it's going to make its way in the NFL, and
it's going down into youth football, it's going down into
youth basketball, all these other sports. So mind strength now
(47:53):
is more important than ever.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
Luke Falk joining us all timely pastor in the Pac
twelve former NFL quarterback, Wazoo quarterback is well working on
the mental side of the game. Current mind strength coach
as well. For people who miss it last time, we'll
do this real quick. I want to get to Wazu
in a second. But you played with in the same
locker room, quarterback room. You played with Sam Donald, the
new Seahawk quarterback. What shod Seahawk fans know about Sam Donald?
Speaker 11 (48:16):
Sam's uber talented. I mean, he's one of those guys
I talked about it last time. I mean the revolutions
on the football and that guy throws the spirals unbelievable.
And Sam is the ultimate competitor. I talked about that
game we played in Pullman when he was at USC
and he just would not quit. And I just saw
somebody who has a complete you know, resolved and wants
(48:39):
to do the best he possibly can be. Was then
first guy in the locker room, last guy to leave
out in New York. Just wants to get it right.
And it's fun seeing him have the success that he's
had because he's super talented and I think he'll be
a great fit in Seattle on you know, I'm happy
that he's landed in a great spot.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
The mental side of things too, You just talked about
everything you talked about in that previous answer before just
being in that right spot. Who are your core people
and you know, who are the distractions and all those things.
Luke coming to a place that wants him, signs him
as a free agent, as Seattle did with John Schneider
Mike McDonald, How important is that for Sam Donald?
Speaker 4 (49:17):
Oh?
Speaker 11 (49:17):
Big time. I mean, I think the people, especially for quarterbacks,
is you know what coaching staff who believes in you.
It's so much easier to do your job when you
feel like you can play with house money and you're
not playing with a you know, a scared mindset in
the sense or feeling like your gut job's going to
get pulled to rip that from underneath that. I'll give
(49:40):
you an example. My sophomore year, right coach Leech is saying, hey,
Luke Falk should be considered the Heisman, and my senior
year there was a different story. It felt like, you know,
if I made a bad play, I was going to
get the rud rick from out you know under from
me and you can see the difference in my play now.
I didn't do the proper things going that off season,
(50:00):
and unfortunately coach Leech and I got a little bit
sideways going into my senior year. But there's a difference
when you feel like you've got the confidence and the
support from not only the coach but the entire franchise.
I know that's going to help and benefit Sam greatly.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
I think that's also why Gino went. Gino Smith goes
to play with Pete Carroll who believes in him and
has all that right. Right, we're looking three of us
will looking each other, and then Sam comes here. Where's
a guy that believes in him? Sometimes it's the right
when you hear it's a right fit. As you speak, Luke,
I'm thinking the right fit is, especially at that quarterback position. Right,
it's the right fit. It's the right fit. Find that
(50:37):
guy that believes in you, and that's that's good stuff,
all right. I want to get to Wazoo a little bit.
You were over there, you spoke to the team, So
you're around the coach, the new coaching staff, coach Rodgers
and everything. What are your impressions of them?
Speaker 11 (50:48):
Well, I think we're in good hands us Koob's. I
think coach Rogers has got a winning formula. I think
he's super loyal. He's a nobs guy as you can
see you on here. Reminds me of a little bit
as our boy River Craycraft. I mean, they're they're very serious.
They're they're very about business. But you can see when
he got up and talked in front of us UH
(51:09):
Couverer alumni on one of the nights, I could see
a cabbit of humor if you just if you get
to get to know him a little bit, I think
so he reminded me of Riven that regard where listen,
he's not going to open up right at the beginning,
but he's he's very solid in who he is. He
seems comfortable in his own skin. And you know, I
think he's going to do a great job. So I'm
really looking forward to it.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
It's interesting because I told we had him in studio Luke,
and I told I was telling I had some friends called, hey,
what'd you think of coach Rogers? And this and that?
I said, I said, he is so different than every
coach that I can remember. Since I mean, I I
was at Wazoo when Jim Walden was there, and Coach Walden,
God bless him. I still talk to him. He does
a radio show. He's he's as crazy today as he
(51:50):
was back then. And I mean, whether it was Walden, Hurricane,
Dennis Ericson, the Great Mike Price, and then obviously, you
know with Coach Leech, you know the good coach is
that we've had there, and you know, Dickert was kind
of a salesman and not in a good sense. I
don't think and Rollovich was nuts. So I mean, it's
but it feels like this is the first guy we've
(52:10):
had come in. Honestly, Luke, that is like what you
just said, serious focused, and it's a different thing because
usually we get the eccentric. At Wazoo, you had the
most eccentric, Like you had a guy that took it
to a different level. But honestly, I mean Mike Price
rode a trojan horse in one time at practice, famously
at Wazoo, and then Leads took that to a whole
(52:31):
different level. But this is a different type of guy
and maybe Luke, it's what's needed over there right now.
Speaker 11 (52:38):
Hey, I think he's the right guy for the times
that we're facing. I think he's all about ball. He's
not looking for excuses.
Speaker 8 (52:45):
Now.
Speaker 11 (52:45):
He has a mental performance coach that he brought over
from South Dakota, and I think it shows in his demeanor.
He's not looking for the excuse. He's not looking to
be the victim. He's not looking for Wazoo to get
the easy cop out. He's looking for and finding so
which is what I think he's gonna find because of
his mentality and the way he approaches the game.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
So, hey, Luke, this is Luke faalcare Jessman McIntyre and
I had the pleasure of being over. I'm sorry I
missed you over at the spring game, but I was
in and out like a bat out of heck, and
I had the pleasure of talking to both the new
offensive coordinator, Danny Foynd, as well as Jesse bobb At,
our new defensive coordinator. And these guys are engaging, smiling,
nobody's lost a game.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
They're all excited. They just finished spring ball.
Speaker 4 (53:30):
So I interviewed them first and they're all, yeah, okay,
let me talk about this team.
Speaker 3 (53:35):
And Coach Rogers when I interviewed him later in that practice.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
He stared straight ahead and he answered everything extremely like militant,
not mean, not rude or anything like that at all,
and gave me like two minute answers on every single
detail of that practice.
Speaker 3 (53:52):
That is exactly what he sounds like. The other guys
are like, we're all best friends. You know, this is
so great.
Speaker 4 (53:59):
Roy, Yeah, wasn't fake because like the majority of their
staff already knows each other, so they're all really close
with each other already.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
But coach Rogers just, yeah, we're.
Speaker 4 (54:10):
Gonna do this, and you know, and we're not going
to do this, and he wouldn't give me any secrets,
but he's going to tell me exactly what they're going
to do without telling me anything. And he didn't look
me in the i except for when he was done talking,
like he was off in the distance because his mind
was there in exactly what he was talking about.
Speaker 1 (54:27):
I loved it, guys, like, I like the attitude. I
think it's I think, Luke, what you said too is true.
That's what's needed right now. Like with all the challenges
going on, tell us about the quarterbacks. Zevy's got the
starting job, but I hear Jackson Potters looks pretty good
as well.
Speaker 11 (54:40):
What do you think, Yeah, well, I think it's Zev's job,
and I think Jackson does have a lot of talent
and we should be pretty excited about his future. But
I think it's Zvi's team. He just shows a leadership
and you know, he's so comfortable in his own skin,
at least from the outside looking at it. He's exactly
what you wanted that position. You know, he kind of
(55:02):
reminds me. And I've heard Jack Thompson say, you know,
he reminds us a gardener a little bit. I didn't
get to know Gardner all that well, but from a
Moxie type of presence. Now, I don't think he is
out there as gardener with maybe the Mike Leach type stuff. No,
but you know what I mean, he's got he's got
that certain presence to him, and so I think, you know,
(55:24):
he's a great fit. It sounds like he was a
guy that tried to help coach Rogers recruit some guys
back that were in the portal. So he's just done
a great job from that standpoint. And you know, he's
a he's a he's a fine young man. So it's
been fun for me to be able to just get
to talk to him last week, and I'm really excited
for him, So I think it'll be a lot of
fun and seeing what he did in that Holiday bull Boy,
(55:47):
if he can, if he can replicate that, we're in
pretty good hands.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
Yeah. What does that say about about somebody? And I
just he was for He was thirty one for forty three,
three hundred and sixty three yards and three touchdowns on
the Holiday Bowl, And I mean, and there's part of
me watching that going this looks awesome. Can't wait till
next year? And then I'm thinking, well, this dude's just
putting on a resume. He's putting a resume tape out
there right now, and he's going to be gone. And
he was for three or four days and then he
came back. But now in today's world, the fact that
(56:12):
he does come back, what does that tell you about him?
Speaker 11 (56:14):
Luke, Well, I think he loves Pullman. It's hard not
to love Pullman. I think he loves the fans, the environment.
And my hope to him is that he still plays
with kind of that house money mentality. You know, you're
going to Holiday Bowl, you've got no none of your
coaching staff there you've got all these people sitting out,
you haven't started a game. It's like, what do you
(56:35):
have to lose? So hopefully he can continue that mentality
because if he does, we saw what he's capable of,
rather than getting in the scarcity mindset of worrying about
making a mistake and unraveling. So, you know, it's kind
of like the backup effect. You see a backup quarterback
going a game, they play lights out because it's they're
really playing fearless. They're playing with house money. Leech taught
(56:58):
me that, you know, and Leech was always trying to
echo to me, Hey, play with house money, play with
house money. And it was easy for me in my
career early on because I was the walk on. What
did I have to lose?
Speaker 8 (57:09):
Shoot?
Speaker 11 (57:09):
If I didn't play, well, what were they gonna do?
Not feed me for the night like they already weren't,
you know.
Speaker 8 (57:14):
So.
Speaker 1 (57:17):
Make you dress and bowler gym? I don't know, actually
need to do that anyway. Yeah, yeah, the stand fed again,
I guess, yeah, exactly, Yeah, I guess. My thing with
them is I'm you know, we'll see what happens. This
is a weird year coming up. I mean, I don't
know how. I don't know what you told the kids
on I think you talked to from Thursday or Friday
what you told the team. But I mean, it's a
(57:38):
weird year. They're playing this weird kind of independent, barnstorming
schedule and then all of a sudden in twenty twenty six, boom,
here's the Pac twelve again. You got Boise State and
you got all these pretty good teams in your conference
and you start a real conference a game. How hard
would it be if you go in the offseason? Do
kids look at that? Do players look at that saying, man,
we got Oregon State twice? Yeah, we played an SEC
team on the road. That's cool, but it's it's kind
(58:00):
of weird schedule. We're not playing for a conference championship.
How do you approach an off season if you're afy
of those guys right now?
Speaker 11 (58:07):
Yeah, I think they do. But I think with the
leadership that they have and coach Rogers, he's going to
redirect their mind on what they need to focus on
and the things that matter. So I think it starts
with the leadership of where what are we focusing on
and what's our daily process and not worrying about the
outside world, and you really could you can make this
a call, you know, a way to be able to
(58:28):
unite a lot of people. It's all about how you
look at things, right. Somebody could look at the same
thing and two people could come up with, you know,
two different solutions to it. But I think Coach Rogers
is going to see this and he's going to find
a way. How can this unite us? How can this
how can we use this to be able to help
kind of that wazoo blue chip mentality, And I think
(58:49):
he's going to do a great job of that.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
Always fun talking to you, Luke, really is a ton
of fun. Uh are you working? Are you traveling all
over the place? If someone's sitting there saying, hey, I'd
like Luke to talk to my you know, high school
team or small college team or something like that, what
do you How do we get a hold of you?
I know how to get a hold of you, but
get a hold of you?
Speaker 11 (59:07):
Yeah, you just you just call me. Uh Now, go
to Faulkmindstreet coaching dot com. There's some stuff in there.
There's a question or you can book a complimentary coaching
session and we can talk about some of our options.
But yeah, we're doing a mind Strength Experience tour right now.
So we're we're doing one a month. We'll be up
in Seattle in June at Skyline High School on June twelfth.
Nice thanks to the coach Puloor for setting that up. Also,
(59:30):
I have a good Peyton story. I forgot laft time,
got a good Peyton store. I used to call him
Gerber Gerber baby because his mom would always he'd always
give us. He'd always give his mom his laundry, no crap.
I never saw Peyton's laundry for like five years while
we were at w Show's mom would always come back
and do it. And you know, he he'd have his
(59:51):
little chair set up so he's playing his video games.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
So he just I joke with him.
Speaker 11 (59:54):
He never grew up, you know, he never grew up.
So I'm glad to see he's making some strides now
as the head coach and Fleet does his own laundry now.
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
But first, the only thing that's erroneous about that is
you said you said five years. That's like half of
the time he's at Peyton. We love you, buddy. Oh,
I can't wait to see him again.
Speaker 11 (01:00:15):
He was trying to say, try to stay long enough
to get the n I L. But he just didn't
quite make He missed it by like a year or two,
and then he had then he had to go. Then
he then he goes to college and ends up having
to deal with the NIL on the other side. That's
why he's coaching the Skyline now, although I'm sure Skyline's
got its own an il deals at Skyline.
Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
Forgettness sakes up there on the ridge. All right, hey, buddy,
we'll talk again. This is a ton of fun. We'll
do this down the road again. Thank you so much.
Speaker 11 (01:00:38):
Awesome, thanks, thanks, there you go, Luke.
Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
Falk all time leading pass or packed twelve. Good stuff. Well,
we'll talk more football with him coming up this fall.
I think I think we're gonna make that happen. All right,
we'll tell you a break.
Speaker 8 (01:00:48):
Come back.
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Check the text line.
Speaker 9 (01:00:49):
Next.
Speaker 7 (01:00:53):
You're listening to the Home of the Husky and Seattle's
best NFL Draft coverage and the five NFL Draft Now
back to Ian Fernetz, probably brought to you by Snowball
Me Casino on Sports Radio ninety three point three k
j R f M.
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
I think I've got to do something besides text. No,
my good. You think you're good.
Speaker 3 (01:01:23):
Yeah, you're fun. You can do whatever you want. This
is your show, Gabe.
Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
I know, but I was just thinking it was I
had something for some reason. I was thinking I was
missing something. But I mean not. Okay, Oh like a
I'm good. I think I'm good. No, I think I'm good. Okay,
let's get text four nine four five one on the
unnamed text line. It is a right now, an unrestricted
free agent.
Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
When it's text time, it's your time UFA.
Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
It's in a transfer portal.
Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
It is it's a UFA. It's in the portal. It's
all things there. What was the one you liked? You
said you liked one.
Speaker 5 (01:01:55):
Yeah, there's a good text from a texture about Rory
winning his master's.
Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
Let me read it work for word.
Speaker 5 (01:01:59):
Now that Roy has his masters, who has the most
pressure to win a championship? Now my list? McDavid, Lamar Jackson,
Aaron Judge and Josh Allen.
Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
It's a good question. Great. It's also interesting because Rory
had already won major right, but I think with the brand, yeah,
that was because it was kind of hanging over his head. Yes,
and Connor McDavid not getting a Stanley Cup.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
He's probably the best athlete right now to not win
a championship.
Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
Or Lamar Jackson in terms of decorated Yeah, because Lamar
has two MVPs yes, right, Yes, and Connor David's got
more awards scoring titles MVPs inn count.
Speaker 5 (01:02:43):
He's I think far and away. I don't know about
far and away. I still like Nate McKinnon really up
there with him. But he's the best player pretty He's
the best player in the NHL. Lamar is one of
the best players in the NFL. Yes, Aaron Judge, I
wouldn't put it on him. Baseball such a different sport.
It is different, you know, like I In fact, even
I heard Mark earlier talking about Julio.
Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
It's like, you know, what do they want? Well, he's
one of nine plus a pitching staff of twelve, so
it's a little bit harder in baseball, and Aaron Judge
falls into that category.
Speaker 5 (01:03:11):
Look at Mike Mike Trout, one of the best players
to ever live, and he has been to the playoffs once.
Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
Yeah, in his entire.
Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
Current right, did you see what he did, by the
way with that fan who grabbed the ball out of
his mint oh he was an Astros fan.
Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
Uh yeah, who got booted. But it was a foul ball.
Speaker 4 (01:03:30):
Trout went up to get it and the Astros fan
like took it out of his glove.
Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
He dance right, Yeah, it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Was fan interference.
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
They got booted, but he went and had them brought
into the bowels of the stadium and met both him
and his kid afterwards, signed balls and everything. He did
not like, well, I don't know if he didn't like,
I'm not going to speak for him, but he went
and found them and read them.
Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
I thought that was a really, really good show character.
Speaker 5 (01:03:56):
I can kind of understand that sometimes because like as
a fan, you're so excited to get that home of
foul ball or something you're just reaching for.
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
You're not thinking about it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
Like that's one of the weird things of sports, because
it's like it's it's if you do it and it's
the wrong timing, you're you know, like the guy in Chicago,
You're done.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
That guy's life was ruined.
Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
Josh Allen's also on that guy's list. He's up there.
Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
I would agree with that one.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Lamar, is there anybody in the NBA who hasn't Jokers
won the title obviously Lebron, Luca, Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:04:33):
Yeah, he's in a tough spot.
Speaker 1 (01:04:37):
Just trying to think like m v P type guys.
I can think Lucas probably, who has been there for
a while, right, yeah, right.
Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
Everyone I can think of has won.
Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
But also, if you're talking, you're one of five dudes,
you've likely won if you're the best.
Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
That's a good question though. I like that one.
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
Yeah, I think I think Lamar and Josh Allen too. Yeah,
and again they don't play defense. No, that's that's why
it's hockey. It's I think that's why it's McDavid, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
And people just crushed you know, Mark Andrews for that
drop on Lamar's throw. And if you listened on whatever
day we did a month, we had a Monday session
with Hugh Yes, and he broke it down pretty good, saying,
not the best throw. Could to make it you except
to make the catch, but put him in a really
tough position. James Harden, thanks a loono. Yeah, I still
(01:05:33):
put tears well, James Harden's m v P. Right, So
it's Luca, see when you're yeah, when you're an m
v P, that's should come with title totally point right. Absolutely. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
In the NBA, it usually does.
Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
This is funny two six, Hey, fulk keep your cougar
mind tricks over in Plullyman, we don't need we don't
want to get infected. In Molly, that's Funny's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
I come to the Crimson and Gray.
Speaker 1 (01:05:57):
Let's see. Uh, let's see Keith two five to three.
Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
Having the crack and on prime video is the second
best move the franchise made in its history.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
Adding the mayor is number one. Yes, don't shave it off.
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
Don't shave it off. We'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:06:12):
Oh yeah, what's your drop deadline? Like your deadline for
making that decision?
Speaker 5 (01:06:17):
Could I mean I got a summer, shave it off
for the summer, and then see how it feels, and
then by the time, you know, fall rolls back around,
you'll be like, yeah, I want to grow it back.
Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
Well, yeah, you could also have whether you want it
for the mayor of Maple Valley in July or I
think that would be a good one.
Speaker 1 (01:06:34):
Maybe I should also check with the boss lady too.
I don't know, maybe I do that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
I think that is your number one decision maker right there.
Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
I was just telling my I was just getting doing
the old dentist thing today, and I was telling my
buddy Ron, my hygienis Ron nice.
Speaker 8 (01:06:48):
Ron.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
I got a dude hygienist, like eight hot ones there
and I got Ron. But Ron is awesome, Like I,
I don't like the dentist, Ron, I hate it. Yeah,
he's the best hygena since how he's unbelievable. He's got
to go how long we're talking about you in the beard?
And he's like, yeah, my wife didn't want me to
get a beard. Then I got it and she won't
let me shave it off. My wife is the same way.
She hated facial hair and then I grew it during
(01:07:11):
COVID and she's like, oh, I don't want you to
get rid of it, So I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
I think it's a comfort creature where you're just like, oh, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
See I have a major babyface if I shave mine,
like major yeah. So that's why I need to keep it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
I think as long as it's well kept.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
Are you going to ask Alison about shinny Hockey? No,
shin me with ends. If we had a if we
had a dollar for every time that joke was brought
up in our studio this year and we would have
been rich.
Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
That makes it almost funnier because I.
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
I can't quite get a read on if she if
she's thinks it's funny or not, because Ie, I'll look
at Bretton like, yeah, that's a that over beers that
ran through my mind a lot on TV Live when
like they're they're not playing with they're playing without any
(01:08:03):
structure and this and this, and they're going back and
forth and I'm like, do I say it?
Speaker 6 (01:08:07):
No, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
I'm just gonna leave that as is.
Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
It's this is one that came in and I'm gonna
say this delicately. Okay, two five to three. It's weird
that Softie can say Dick is out, but Jessaman says
bad out of heck.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
I did notice that. I was like, man, you are
really going full on. That's a very Utah thing.
Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
By the way, well it was it was Luke. So
I wanted to make sure that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
That's like for people and like when we lived in
Salt Lake, yeah, like you would. They would never ever
take the Lord's name. And that's actually very very faith
I don't do that.
Speaker 4 (01:08:44):
And now I don't even know if Luke is but
I know he saw like I don't think he is,
but also I know where he's they're religious, but I.
Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
Don't think they're more No, I because I one of
the first broadcasts I did for the Utah Grizzlies, we
had a bunch of stuff go wrong and I lost
it down the line when we were off the air,
and JFC came out and oh no, and you're usually good.
Speaker 2 (01:09:07):
About when stuff goes wrong, about staying cool.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
I am.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
I wasn't always out with okay, it wasn't always out.
Where's the change?
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
The changing point?
Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
I think probably then because the guy was the other
guy that my producer, that Ane was warming. He goes, hey,
I just appreciate you not saying you're the word's name
of Evan, like damn it. Yeah, And I said, well,
g D.
Speaker 8 (01:09:30):
I think I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
I grew up. I went to Catholic schools my whole life,
and I tried not to. I usually don't use those
words I use, I use other words, but I didn't
use those words. But the point is is that down
there in Salt Lake, all you hear people say is
all my heck, what the heck? Yeah, what the heck is?
But all my heck is our thing.
Speaker 11 (01:09:47):
Ah my heck.
Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
Yeah, and they'll say a lot of wheeze we'z and
the's like there's a t h e y z at
the end days weeze and all my hecks and yeah,
if you ever watch those shows, like Mormon Light was
at the Mormon Housewives and I don't know if they're
really Mormon though, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake.
Speaker 4 (01:10:04):
Oh, I thought that they just wanted several wives and
those reality Yeah, I know what's in that A part.
Speaker 8 (01:10:09):
Of some part.
Speaker 4 (01:10:11):
You're gonna get me going on something, all right, never mind,
but no, there's like those oh I'm thinking of Sister Wives.
It's a show that's a safe those different ships, I think. Yeah,
and they'll say saying all my hack and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
That's funny.
Speaker 3 (01:10:23):
Well I brought it back.
Speaker 11 (01:10:25):
You're welcome on that note, and.
Speaker 1 (01:10:26):
That's on goofy way that guy and sister Wise is
a weird looking dude.
Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
Man, I've only seen the ads. And then we get
to this point we were talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
My heck because just said all my heck today he
did I said, bat out of heck, which sounded weird
to me. Charles Barkley is also bring brought up by
the way, but he's already returned. Yeah, because it's not
like Shack doesn't bring that up like every show, right title. Okay,
that's good, We're all good. We're good. It's softy here
(01:10:57):
today he.
Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
Is physically outside eating for second in a row.
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
I don't like it all right, he's he's next riding
(01:11:27):
in on his UH, on his thoroughbred gentleman, our own
Doc Holliday.
Speaker 4 (01:11:33):
His name is Dave soft He definitely has one of
those stickhead horses.
Speaker 10 (01:11:38):
Favorite, non Doc Holliday, non top gun Val Kilmer, Val
Kilmer movie role.
Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
Give me, give me some options.
Speaker 10 (01:11:48):
Well, the Doors, I don't watch that incredible. I have
seen it, Morris, have you ever see uh? Is its
the what was the.
Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
Is it top secret?
Speaker 6 (01:11:58):
That he was in?
Speaker 4 (01:11:59):
Was he in?
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
It's not like one of those weird B movies.
Speaker 10 (01:12:02):
It's just like he pulls the magnifying glass away from
his eye and it's still a big eye.
Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
Give me another sivert What heat heat.
Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
Willow is my favorite?
Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
I think honestly, I thought Doc Holiday was his best care.
He was better than.
Speaker 10 (01:12:18):
Watch him as Jim Morrison. Dude, Okay, it's ridiculous, Like
I don't know. I mean, you're old enough to be
a doors fan, by the way, because you're seventy. But
he was incredible sixty nine. But that's fine by the
way you.
Speaker 6 (01:12:30):
Bring it up.
Speaker 1 (01:12:31):
Yeah, I'm sitting up. It's all up.
Speaker 10 (01:12:34):
I'm sitting at the light on Mercer and taking a
left to head towards the studio today, and I'm in
the car and I got the window rolled down, and
I like a flute, somebody playing a flute, and the
guy next to me is just blaring Stairway to Heaven,
blaring it all the songs that you would.
Speaker 1 (01:12:53):
Not just rock out to, and how many lad Zeppelin
songs names. Yeah, but it's blare.
Speaker 10 (01:13:06):
That you, of all people, would go home on a
Friday night, partaking whatever you're partaking and kick your feet
up and relax, right. You wouldn't You wouldn't blame it. Yeah,
maybe Cashmere maybe immigrant song.
Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
Partaken usually make me auditorially sense.
Speaker 6 (01:13:23):
Like that.
Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
Did you bothered by the loud? I just thought it
was kind of hot, because usually what you hear now
is just like some Yeah, hey, I've got a big
loud stereo, listen to my thumb I've.
Speaker 10 (01:13:38):
I've been blaring a c DC for the last two weeks.
Say is uh, I'll be at the Friday night. I'll
be at the Rose Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
I wonder you turn up your headsets.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Friday night. Use that I didn't hear your death what wait?
Speaker 6 (01:13:53):
Miss that man?
Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
That's been going on for them.
Speaker 10 (01:13:55):
I can't hear a damn thing. My hearing is in
the toilet, man. But you know, will bust my balls
about it more than anybody. But it's not really fair
the way she gets it.
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
Yeah, but you're selectively listening at home.
Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
I'm sure is it one ear or both?
Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
No, it's both, dude, Are you kidding me?
Speaker 10 (01:14:11):
I can't hear anything, so you took my No, if
I took my headphones off and put them on your
head right now, I would blow.
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
Your ear canals.
Speaker 10 (01:14:20):
As we are, we are like walking down the street,
like walking the dogs, right, and I'll be in front
of her talking and or or she's in front of
me talking and I'm behind her and the winds blow
and there's a plane going overhead and I can't.
Speaker 1 (01:14:35):
Hear what nobody would be able to hear in that situation. Nobody. Yes,
she's like, get a hearing aid. She wants me to
get a hearing You should out a couple of friends.
I think that's a good endorsement for it.
Speaker 10 (01:14:48):
I got a couple of buddies that I know that
actually use hearing aids, and I've I've worn them before
the Bluetooth enabled all that stuff you can use your
phone to like whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
So I don't know, maybe one day I will get one.
I think that's a good endorsement for you. Yeah, but
I'll be there Friday night at the Rose Bowl a
C D. C Anya, who's still who's still in a CD?
Everybody but Malcolm, really, they're all, They're all, They're all
still there. Malcolm. Oh that's kind of cool. Yeah, that's good.
May he rest in peace. Angus just turned seventy, by
the way. He first. Just think about that. Just looks
(01:15:18):
like it too, by the way, and and think about
help what that guy did to his body and he
hit seventy. Good for him. Well, I still I think
that's a good I think a good lesson of life.
Man go hard, man, go hardest.
Speaker 10 (01:15:29):
The greatest freaking rock and roll transition of all time
is when when bon Scott died and they went from
Highway to Hell to back in black.
Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
Yeah, amazing. Nobody will ever do that again, ever, ever, ever, ever,
You're gonna yeah, you'll you won't be able to hear
when you walk out of there.
Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
What was that?
Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
Exactly? Who's on the show today? I've never seen a
concert of the Rose Bowl, so I have no idea
how the acoustics will go. Oh the way, I know
who's on.
Speaker 4 (01:15:52):
On my show. He's on.
Speaker 6 (01:15:56):
Some people don't like it.
Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
I don't care. He's gonna be on a three to
ten today.
Speaker 10 (01:16:00):
We out a three ten next Tuesday because we have
our mock next Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (01:16:03):
Who else? Give me about hole? By the way, you
got at my basement with my lizards?
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
Shut up and leave me alone?
Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
You know that's code for by the way?
Speaker 6 (01:16:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
Is he so subtle?
Speaker 1 (01:16:15):
Is this guy? Four o'clock?
Speaker 6 (01:16:16):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
Yeah? What else I got?
Speaker 4 (01:16:18):
We have?
Speaker 1 (01:16:18):
Any Larry Stone drops on the air, you gotta get
he'll be on the air.
Speaker 10 (01:16:22):
Got to get on today and then Mike the course
he's going to join as well. And I mean, I'll
tell you that Dan Bilsma is scheduled at some point
today to join us on the show.
Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
So we'll see. I hope So how was poking to
the media can be a little Yeah, Mike Benton's waiting,
Mike Benton's waiting for him. Still I need you before
you go on with Dave Muller. God, Cracking weekly, just
like Cracking weekly? Then I like Cracked weekly? Four minutes?
Speaker 6 (01:16:48):
How about three?
Speaker 1 (01:16:49):
Okay, just one question, but the think about the level
of stress between six or seven and eight pm on
this station on Wednesdays. Cracking Weekly, the Sounders weekly, Jesus
Betton and the Jackson.
Speaker 10 (01:17:00):
Ben doesn't have access to the kind of ways to
relax that Jackson has man so and still Jackson.
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
Is Ben's got advice. I'm gonna find out what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
Can you guys break her?
Speaker 7 (01:17:10):
Ready?
Speaker 1 (01:17:10):
Jeans see for the mild mannered and marginally objectionable in forness.
This is paddled Day saying so long everyone,
