In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer a question from a listener who is experiencing tingling in his testicles. Our listener has an active job and notices the tingling or fluttering sensation in the evenings or while at rest. Although painless, it has been going on for some time, and neither his PCP nor his urologist have any answers. Dr. Mistry explains that in such circumstances, the cause is usually neurological or muscular. After ruling out an anatomical cause, our pelvic floor physical therapists teach the patient to correctly use the muscles in and around the scrotum. This approach often leads to a complete cessation of uncomfortable muscle spasms. Another cause of testicle pain are varicoceles. The veins carrying blood away from the testicles can become strained and fail, causing blood to pool in the scrotum and generating a dull, achy pain. In our listener's case, tingling testicles without pain are likely caused by muscle spasms and can therefore be improved with a few sessions of pelvic floor PT.
