Speaker 1 (00:00):
The CEO you Should Know, brought to you by Roby
Foster Miller Eric Insurance. This week's CEO doctor Melissa McCrae,
CEO of Vitality Natural Wellness. First of all, good morning
and nice to see you.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Good morning. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
You're very welcome, all right, So I'm excited to learn
about your company. I'm sure our listeners are, so the
stage is yours. We love to learn about you guys.
Tell us what you guys do with your business great well.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Vitality Natural Wellness started back in two thousand and seven.
I actually had a traditional family practice office for about
twelve years, and I loved every.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Aspect of it.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I knew ever since I was three years old. That's
as far back as I can remember wanting to be
a doctor. So I was doing what I love to do. However,
what I was finding is there was more and more
pressure from insurance companies to really dictate care, so my
visits were getting shorter. I felt like we could do
so much much better in medicine, and it really came

(01:02):
down to the point where I was either going to
function the way insurance companies wanted me to function, or
I was going to do it my way, which was
what I felt a better way to take care of patients.
So at that point in time, after twelve years of
being in my solo practice of family medicine, I started
Vitality Natural Wellness in downtown Mansfield and we've been going

(01:23):
strong ever since then, growing to two locations and just
really feeling like we're finally treating patients the way they
deserve to be treated.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Great to learn about your story. What's seventeen years now,
as you mentioned, So that's terrific. Now, could you explain
exactly what you guys do they hear the name Vitality
Natural Wellness, explain some of the things you offer.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, that's a great question. The fundamental philosophy of Vitality
Natural Wellness is give the body what it needs and
it will respond. In medicine right now, so much is
either if you don't have a pharmaceutical option to treat it.
So if you don't have a prescription drug that treats it,
you're either waiting until you get sick enough that you
do to get care, or you are just kind of

(02:04):
trudging along being told that everything is fine, that there's
really nothing wrong with you. We know that patients don't
feel well. They present to us every single day saying
I know something's not right, but they keep telling me
I'm fine. So with the model we have, spending time
with patients allows us to really dig in and find

(02:24):
out what is happening in their body. We have a
mastery of cellular physiology in the practice of what we understand.
So between spending time with a patient, digging into their
history and really understanding what's happening at a cellular physiologic level,
we can put together a fantastic treatment plan that allows
us to give patients amazing outcomes.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Awesome, great to hear this morning from a local company.
You said, in downtown me and so where exactly are
you at downtown?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Well, we started out in the old Key Bank building
in downtown Mansfield, but we've recently relocated in the past
year and a half over to the Stircle Park near
the Y, So we're in that plaza right now. It's
at six twenty five Lexington Avenue.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
All right, terrific. The voice this morning is doctor Melissa McCrae,
who is the CEO of Vitality Natural Wellness. She is
this week's CEO. You should know you don't have to
give it exact examples, but do you have anything where
somebody comes in with not feeling well in a certain
way and maybe things that you offer, maybe any example
you could share.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Sure, our typical patient is a forty something year old female.
She comes in feeling like I don't feel well, but
they tell me I'm fine. However, she also can attribute
it to I work or I have kids, and I'm
really busy and there's so much going on, so really
not knowing is it my hormones? Am I just busy?
Am I not sleeping enough? So those are our classic

(03:47):
patients where they just don't feel well. We focus a
lot on gut health. Hormone health is a large component
of what we do. We focus on autoimmune issues. There's
a lot of thyroid patient stress management. We have a
special access to in Alzheimer's injectable therapy that is life changing.

(04:09):
We do some work with IVY therapies that can help
really put a stop and kind of backpedal on neurologic
diseases like Parkinson's. So we do everything from the supportive,
educational nourishing care to the most advanced IVY therapies.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
All Right, it's great to learn about your company. And
as we talk about that, you told me you have
two locations, the other ones down toward Columbus.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Correct correct in Powell, Ohio.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Okay, so in terms of area you cover, I'm assuming
you you cover a good portion of the state then
being you know, Mansfield's kind of right there in the
center and you got Columbus a little bit further in
central Ohio. How far do people come to see you,
guys from.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
We actually have patients from all over the state and
out of state who come to see us at both
locations because of what we do.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Okay, well, again, it's awesome to learn the story this morning.
The voice you hear is doctor Melissa McCray. She is
the CEO of Vitality Natural Wellness. She mentioned two locations,
Mansfield and Pow And we've talked about you've been open
since two thousand and seven. You mentioned what three years
old you knew you wanted to be a doctor. That's
a pretty cool story. You know, some people growing up like, well,

(05:17):
I wanted to do this, But it's amazing you knew
at age three. Do you remember in your mind what
kind of made you at age three say, you know
what I want to do this.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
I have no idea. I honestly feel incredibly blessed to
feel like I was so sure from such a young age,
you know, all going through school, I knew that's what
I wanted to do. So it really is a wonderful
feeling being confident in what you want to do. And so,
you know, I see some teens and things struggling to
figure out what they want to do, and in my head,

(05:45):
I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm just so relieved that
I just always wanted to do this.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, really cool. I don't remember. I know, it wasn't
age three that I knew I wanted to broadcasting radio,
sports and different things. So great to hear your story. Well,
let's learn more about it. You. Let's step away from
work and find out a bit more about doctor Melissa
McCrae again, who is the CEO of Vitality Natural Wellness.
She told me off the air, but now the microphones

(06:10):
are on. People want to know where were you born.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
I was born in Crawford County, Ohio, so not far
from the Mansfield area.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Okay, next, tell everybody where'd you go to high school?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Went high school at Colonel Crawford.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
All right, the Eagles, I know that very well. All right, Next,
tell us about college. Where'd you go there?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
I went to school at Ohio University down in Athens, Ohio.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
So I'm a bobcat, right. So after college you mentioned
you had a practice. Tell us a little bit, if
you would. I call it the highlights along the way.
We know where you are now with your great business.
But tell us a little bit after college.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
So after college, I did research at Ohio State and
also at Ohio University. While I was in college. That
really led me to get very close to the research
department at Ohio University where I went to medical school.
Then I did my residency in several different locations. We
were based out of in Ohio, so that was great
to say different areas. My first practice was actually as

(07:03):
an employed physician in Can'ton, Ohio, so that was a
really fantastic opportunity. I then had a chance to come
back to Crawford County and cover for a friend who
is on maternity leave. So while I was there, I
decided to stay. So I worked in Bucyrus for about
three years and I learned so many things. I learned

(07:24):
what I loved about medical business, and I also learned
things that I didn't like so much, So I was
very excited to run my own practice at that point.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
All right, now, I know it's something you said you
were thinking about doing. Did anybody urge you or was
this something that you were like? You just kind of
you know, made that you know what, I'm going to
do this.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Not so much. I knew what I liked and I
knew what I didn't like, and I thought I could
do it better, so I started my own practice.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
It sounds like things are going well for you. It is.
It's going well, okay, great. Well, before we get back
to work a little bit, wanted to find out a
bit more about you don't know, married kids, tell us
more about doctor Melissa mccraye and the family.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Yeah, I have three amazing kids. I have a senior
this year, which is interesting, just really excited for his future.
And then the youngest is in eighth grade, so I
have all teenagers right now. My daughter is very sporty
and very outgoing, so lots of activities there. So really
just absolutely loving my time as a mom, you know,

(08:23):
supporting the kids and encouraging them. We have a dog
who's fantastic, and my parents are around, so just really
enjoying the stage of life right now.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
All right, now, I know the next question. I know
the answer to the next question, but I'll ask it anyway.
With work, kids, activities, I know you're busy. What do
you do in your spare time? What are your hobbies?

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Spare time is definitely a relative phrase. So I absolutely
love to travel and we try to do that as
often as we can, working work into that if we
need to. But so traveling, gardening, If I can be outside,
I'm happy person. So being outside as much as possible, gardening, reading,
just being with friends, positive environments.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
All right, terrific to learn the story this morning of
doctor Melissa McCrae, this week's CEO. You should know again
who is the CEO of Vitality Natural Wellness. Two locations,
one here in Mansfield, also one down in the Columbus
area in Powell. All right, so let's get back to
work here as we talk about total staff members, how
many people do you guys have?

Speaker 2 (09:28):
We currently have seventeen staff members, including several nurse practitioners,
some administrative assistants. We have clinical care providers, marketing director CEO,
which is suree young. So we have a fantastic team
right now, just really enjoying that.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
It's interesting hearing you say we have a fantastic team.
And I talk with I talk with mayors, I talk
with you know, people that run businesses. You know, you know,
you're the CEO, you know, doctor, you have to have
a good team, right and it sounds like you have
a good one of your business.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
We really do. It's amazing how so portive of each
other they are, but maintaining just this positive corporate culture
environment of medicine, you know, you can go sideways so
quickly and really being able to focus on patient care
as the primary concern. Everybody there is one hundred percent
on board.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Now. You told me you're not hiring right now, but
you're always looking for good people, right Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
It's amazing how our employees come to us. Almost every
single employee comes to us directly, either through another employee
or directly through a patient experience. So when we have
people come to us and ask are you hiring, it's
never are we hiring or are we not hiring? It's
more of who are you as a person? What do

(10:43):
you do? And do we see you fitting into Vitality
Natural Wellness. There's never been a time where the right
person did not fit into what we do.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Awesome, awesome, awesome, great story this morning. Enjoyed learning about
your company. Get a few more questions while we have
you with us this morning. Again you are listening to
the CEO of Vitality Natural Wellness again located downtown Mansfield,
doctor Melissa McCrae. Also another location down in the Columbus
area we mentioned in Pole. So, as we get back
to your business, how does it work. Somebody we talked about,

(11:17):
you know, doesn't feel well. They want to find out,
you know what all you offer programs, different things. How
do they get the ball rolling? How does the process
work in terms of making the appointment and being able
to come in and see you.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
That is a great question. So we want to make
sure that we're the right fit for you for the patient.
We know that medical care is expensive, we know it's
an investment into yourself. So our pathway that we created
is you simply call the office or there's a link
on our website to schedule an inquiry call. That inquiry
call really helps us determine and you determine are we

(11:48):
the right fit so that is a free call, and
it's really just get to know each other a little bit,
find out what your needs are. If we're not the
right person or the place for you, then we really
try to make sure we connect you to somebody who is.
So that's an increyquill. Again, that's that's free. We know
this is an investment. We want to make sure it's
a good fit.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Now, how about website and phone number? Can we throw
the information out so that people can contact you?

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah? Absolutely. Our website is www. Vitality Natural Wellness dot com.
Our phone number is four one nine nine eight nine
four three four two. You can call or text that number.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
All right, awesome. Now before I let you go, I
always like to, you know, let business leaders CEOs talk
about what makes them special. So, you know, somebody we mentioned,
you know, isn't feeling well. They're they're looking around that
they see Vitality Natural Wellness. What kind of sets you apart?
I know you mentioned, you know, being a good fit

(12:43):
and things like that, but what do you feel makes
you guys special?

Speaker 2 (12:47):
We are really good at what we do, so we
didn't take any kind of weekend certificate program to say
we specialize in hormones. We dig in. We have a
depth of you know, I have over twenty five years
of medical practice experience. We specialize in women's care, and
we don't just specialize in women's care to say that,

(13:08):
we really do. So we are exceptional with hormone care.
We're exceptional with prenatal care. So if you know, women
are getting a little bit older before they start to
have children, and they really want to go into it prepared,
so we're able to take that young female and make
sure her system is ready to go. And although we
specialize in women's care, we don't forget the man. So

(13:30):
we are one of the leading providers of men's hormone
care in the area. And again, we do it in
a way that the body responds to. We're not just
following a cookie cutter guide on how to do hormones
and we're not just doing hormone care because it's the
kind of cliche thing to do. Right now, we're exceptional
a what we.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Do now before I let you go, is there any
type of and I know you've listed a lot, you know,
men women. Is there anything we talked about in terms
of you know, program services that we didn't mention this
morning that you want to make sure people know that
you guys offer.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
You know, there's two pathways we didn't touch on. The
first one is an executive wellness program, and that's for
the patient. They don't necessarily have to be an executive. However,
it's the mindset that I don't feel well and I
don't have time to spend two years trying to get better.
So this is an aggressive treatment pathway that takes about
four months. We have fantastic outcomes for the person who's

(14:23):
committed to just getting better. The second thing we didn't
discuss was our corporate wellness program. Now, there are many
patients who will never step a foot in my office.
We know care is expensive wherever you go. For those patients,
we still want to reach them because there's so much
knowledge that can absolutely change their life. So what we
do is we take what we do at Vitality into

(14:45):
the company and we change their lives. So our corporate
wellness program, we have company partners throughout the state. It's
been a fantastic experience and it's been wonderful to see
their return on investment. Just really come back to them
times over all.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Right, now, before I let you go, let's throw the
information out there again. Somebody here's your voice this morning
and they want to get more information about Vitality Natural
Wellness again locations in Mansfield and Pole. We're talking with
their CEO, doctor Melissa McCrae. Website, phone number to throw
it out again. How do they get the ball rolling
where they can reach out and talk to somebody sure.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Our website is www. Vitalityanaturalwellness dot com. Our phone number
is four one nine nine eight nine four three four
two and you can call or text that number. You
can simply reach out to us and set up a
short inquiry call to make sure that we're the right
fit for you and we can get the ball rolling
whether you want the more traditional office visit to office visit,

(15:43):
or if you're tired of not feeling well and want
to get the ball rolling in a more aggressive way.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Doctor Melissa McCrae, CEO of Vitality Natural Wellness, Well, it
was great to learn about your company. We thank you
so much for coming in and we wish you continued success.
Thank you so much, doctor Melissa McCrae, CEO of Vitality
Natural Wellness. The CEO you should know read a bio,

(16:10):
see a photo, and hear the extended interview at WMA
n FM dot com. Leading means having a vision and
sharing it with others. I'm John Roby of RFI Insurance.
We're excited to bring you this program featuring CEOs from
our area who will share the thoughts and what it
means to work and live in north central Ohio.
