In the spring at the time whenkings go off to war, David sent
(04:09):
Joab out with the king's men andthe whole Israelite army. They
destroyed the Ammonites and besage rabbi, but David remained
in Jerusalem. One evening, Davidgot up from his bed and walked
around on the roof of the palacefrom the roof he saw a woman
bathing the woman was verybeautiful and David sent someone
(04:31):
to find out about her. The mansaid she is Bathsheba the
daughter of EDM and the wife ofUriah the Hittite. Then David
sent messengers to her to gether she came to him and he slept
with her now she was purifyingherself from her monthly unclean
business. Then she went backhome. The woman conceived and
(04:56):
sent word to David saying I ampregnant. So David sent this
word to Joab. Send me Uriah theHittite and Joab sent him to
David. When you riot came tohim, David asked him how Joab
was how the soldiers were andhow the world was going. Then
(05:16):
David said to Uriah, go down toyour house and wash your feet.
So Uriah left the palace and agift from the King was sent
after him. But Uriah slept atthe entrance to the palace with
all his master servants and didnot go down to his house. David
was told Uriah did not go home.
(05:38):
So he asked Uriah, haven't youjust come from a military
campaign? Why didn't you gohome? Uriah said today that the
ark in Israel and Judah arestaying in tents, and my
commander Joab and my Lord's menare camped in the open country,
how could I go to my house toeat and drink and make love to
(05:59):
my wife, as surely as you live,I would not do such a thing.
Then David said to him, stayhere one more day and tomorrow I
will send you back. So Uriahremained in Jerusalem that day,
and the next at David'sinvitation he ate and drank with
him and David made him drunk.
But in the evening, Uriah wentout to sleep on his mat among
(06:22):
his master servants, he did notgo home. In the morning, David
wrote a letter to Joab and sentit with Raya. In it, he wrote,
put you right out in front wherethe fighting is fiercest, then
withdraw from him so he will bestruck down and die. So while
Joab had the city under siege,he put Uriah at a place where he
(06:44):
knew the strongest defenderswere when the men of the city
came out and fought against Joabsome of the men in David's army
fail Moreover, Uriah the Hittitedied. Joab sent David a full
account of the battle. Heinstructed the messenger when
you have finished given the kingthis account of the battle, the
(07:05):
king's anger may flare up, andhe may ask you, why did you get
so close to the city to fight?
Didn't you know they were goingto shoot arrows from the wall
who killed Amulek son of JeromeBechet? Didn't a woman drop in
Upper mouse don't own him fromthe wall so that he could die in
Nevis? Why did you get so closeto the wall? If he asked you
(07:29):
this, then say to him, moreover, your servant Uriah the Hittite
is dead, the messenger set outand when he arrived, he told
David everything Joab has senthim to say, the messenger said
to David, the man overpowered usand came out against us in the
open, but we drove them back tothe interest of the city gate.
(07:49):
Then the archers shot arrowsthat show servants from the wall
and some of the king's men died.
Moreover, your servant Uriah theHittite is dead. David told the
passenger say this to Joab.
Don't let this upset you. Thesward devours one as well as
another, press the attackagainst the city and destroy it.
(08:11):
Say this to encourage Joab whenyou write his wife heard that
her husband was dead, shemourned for him. After the time
of morning was over. David hadher brought to his house, and
she became his wife and bore hima son. But the thing David had
done was displeased by the Lord.
And that's the end of ourchapter, y'all. Oh, my goodness.
(08:33):
Let's break it down. Okay, so,David and Bathsheba. Now, David,
you know, you was wrong. I justwant to get up into this. Now,
you know, he's on bone. So in aspring, let me just summarize.
It's springtime, the king saysthe men off to go to war, David
sent out Joab with the king, hismen, the whole Israelite army,
(08:56):
and they destroyed the Ammonitesand besieged Robert but David
remained in Jerusalem. Oneevening, David gets up from his
bed started walking around on aroof of his palace. And from the
roof of the palace. He saw awoman down bathing. This woman
was Bathsheba. She needed toknow who this woman was. So he
(09:19):
sat down there people like gofind out who this woman is
because she is very beautiful.
Who is that sort of peoplecoming back like yes, that's
Bathsheba. She's the daughter ofilium and she's the wife of
Uriah. She was the wife ofUriah. So David sent her to come
(09:41):
up to his palace he like yeah, baby. I'm the king was set. You
know, I'm saying yeah, you man.
He worked for me. Vanessa Robotostraw drawers. Basically. She
slept with him. Now. I don'tknow if he was supposed to go
down like that because I don'tthink so. But hey, it's up in
the Bible. She gave To the catup to the King David at the
time, and she was the Rayaswife. So she goes back home, she
(10:04):
ends up becoming pregnant. Andshe tells David Oh my god, we
slept around, you know, but I'mpregnant now. Well we go into so
David tells his partner Joablike, oh my goodness, go get you
right? Yeah. We need to make aplan or something. He gets you
Ryan. He lets him know like, youknow, how was Joab? How was the
(10:29):
war? How was the soldiers? How'severything going down there
David, tell Uriah you know, godown to your house. Go wash your
feet go get cleaned up, go eatgo drink and go chill basically
go be with your wife. Now Uriah,he didn't leave he ended up
sleeping at the entrance of thepalace on the mat with the rest
(10:49):
of the survey. And they letDavid know like, you know, Uriah
didn't go home he didn't go washhis feet and go No, he just stay
here. And so David like whydidn't you go home? Didn't you
just come from a militarycampaign? Like why didn't you go
home? Why didn't you go be withyour wife Uriah? Like the Ark
and Israel of Judah are standingin tents and my commander Joab
(11:11):
and my Lords men are camped inthe open country how could I go
eat and drink with my wife andgo sleep with my wife and we
still out here low key and thebattle David thinking to himself
like this is awesome this manwant to go into battle this is
great Guess what? Stick aroundfor a little bit you can stay
with me don't even trip I'mgonna see you back out into war
(11:33):
in about a day or two. So helets Uriah stay with him they
eat they drink he gets you riotdrunk they laugh and ha oh my
goodness. You know thank you forfighting for me and all this
guy. Yeah, our boys do in themidst of this. David tell Joab
look, I'm gonna send you rightback out to battle boom we need
(11:54):
to go back out there put him inthe front where the fierce
defenders are and when theystart attacking go ahead and
draw back and let let them andgo you know I'm saying so we're
basically plotting to kill them.
And so Joab like okay, yes king,he followed instructions. So he
they go out to Oregon and theyput Uriah on the front. And
(12:17):
obviously some of the men getshot by the arrow and Uriah
happens to be one of them and hedies. This is all in David's
plan. Now they sent this newsback to David let them know that
they got attacked and all thatand trying to make the story
sound really good Joab likeyeah, toe to King this happened
(12:38):
this happened that's how youwrite a die But moreover, he
liked even though some of themen die let the King know
moreover Uriah died becausethat's the big secret here Uriah
don't want to go so when theKing David got the news they
told him like yeah you know wegot too close to the gate they
shot the arrows you know butnevertheless King Uriah the
(12:59):
Hittite he died and so Davidlike oh my goodness press the
attack against the city anddestroy it go hey, you're
destroyed all these peoplebasically just try to make Joab
feel good and try to get himback up there. Like they didn't
just plot this whole thing tokill you, Ryan. And so after
that, the time of mourning, sorearise wife found out that he
(13:22):
died in the war. Now she cryingboohoo as if she didn't even
sleep with the King Davidalready as she was not here
knocking boots but now shecrying mourn for her husband
that just passed away. And afterthe mourning season was over,
David ends up sending forBathsheba and Bathsheba became
(13:44):
David's wife and bared the sonthat she ends up pregnant with
in the beginning barely forDavid. Now the Lord was not
happy with what David does, andneither am I. Okay, David,
because there's a lot of thatgoing on right now in today's
world people thinking that theyhomies as they homies and a
(14:05):
friends as they friends, ithappened to both men, and it
happened to both women. Ain'tthat crazy? How you have it all?
And you still choose to havesomething that don't belong to
you? Are you still wicked schemeyour way into getting something
that don't belong to you? That'scrazy because you think that the
Lord is not paying attention.
But the Lord did not lie. He wasvery displeased. Should I say
(14:29):
what David did and he had everyright to be displeased because
why would you do that? David?
You literally slept with thisman wife. You put this man on
the battlefield so he could die.
And then you take this man why?
It happens all the time. Ithappens in today's world. It
(14:52):
happens. It's been happening. Ithappened back in those times.
And it just been repeatingitself and repeating itself
different situations, differentthings. Aereos different people,
same thing, same thing that canhappen now. She wasn't right.
That was very wrong. I don'tthink that that was cool for
her. Bathsheba and David waswrong period. That's not cool.
(15:14):
So the question is, have youever been caught in an act like
David and try to deceive yourway out of your predicament?
What David Did, he got caught inhis day by sleeping with you,
right? His wife, Bathsheba, shewas beautiful. He slept for her.
He got her pregnant, he had toplot two way to get her husband
(15:36):
out of the picture so that shecould become his wife and that
she could bear his son. I won'tsay that I have done something
in this nature. But I haveallowed the enemy to use me in
ways that I've tried toliterally deceive my way out of
my predict the men that I putmyself in. For instance, after
(15:58):
having my son every predicamentsituation that I put myself in,
I try to finesse it to benefitme the best way that it can. And
more so over I was literallyhurt myself back to back the bag
the bag, because the Lord wasvery displeased and with my
actions and what I was doing, never appreciating the moment
(16:21):
never taken in making somethingof what I had at the moment,
never accepting, thanking forwhat I was given. At that time.
I've always tried to finesseeither more finesse my love,
finesse somebody else's lovefinesse somebody to care,
finesse me not to care. I'vealways tried to finesse my
(16:44):
predict me, they put me. So justlike David, I can see many times
that the Lord will be displeasedwith some of my actions on what
I have done. I can just say thatlike wholeheartedly in this
story, it allows me to see me inthis story, I have put myself in
situations where I didn't thinkabout the other person, or I
(17:06):
selfishly thought about myselfputting myself first and not
thinking about nobody else'sfeelings or how will make
somebody else feel or what itwould do to cause the situation
to go the way that it went. LikeI literally probably finessed my
whole situation and Sue badloop. Because I wasn't
(17:27):
glorifying or appreciative oraccepting of what God was doing.
For me at that time. When I hadmy son, yes, I was just a child,
I was going on 18 years old. ButI knew for a fact that I want it
to be a mother that I didn'thave. And I tried to finesse of
being a mother that I didn'thave. And the whole time I was
(17:51):
breaking down of not learning tobe the mother that I needed to
be because I try to think like Ihad it all figured out and I
didn't then when I had mydaughter, I wanted to finesse
love in a way that I didn't wantto show it. I didn't care to
have it. I didn't appreciatelove. I didn't want to talk
(18:11):
about love. I didn't like loveat all. I didn't even know what
it was, you know. And I wantedto finesse myself to think that
I knew what it was. And that theway that I'm moving in the way
that I was acting the way that Iwas talking and dealing with
some sort of love. That wasreally not it was destroying me.
(18:32):
And so when I had my kids guessI love, love, love my kids now
that I understand what love is,but I remember finessing myself
out of my good situationsbecause I was literally trying
to finesse to predict them. Andlike I was trying to finesse God
(18:52):
because I was caught in the act,if that makes sense. I can't God
I messed up. I don't know if Iwas supposed to be doing this. I
didn't consult with you first.
I didn't talk to you about it. Ididn't ask you I didn't I don't
have you in my life. And here Iam trying to play God. Here I am
trying to be God. Yes, I am aGod but without the tool of God,
I am nothing. So I'm just merelya human being here that's trying
(19:16):
to act like a god when I don'teven have God making make sense.
You know, I'm saying like, girl, get it together. either. You
need to get with God or you'regoing to keep getting caught in
Act and you're going to deceiveyour way out of your predictable
life. That's very powerful. Andthat's what this story is given
me. David one eight BathshebaBathsheba belong to Uriah. Uriah
(19:40):
was a servant of Joab who was aservant of David who fought in
the army in the military war forDavid David put Uriah on a
frontline to kill him so that hecould be with Bathsheba. Anytime
something is happening allaround us situation scenarios
like this is happening all roundif you think that God is going
(20:02):
to be pleased with our actionswhen we tried to deceive, or we
tried to predict, are eventrying to finesse our way into
having something, I've hadmoments where God was very
displeased with me. And I've hadto go through those moments and
relive those moments, and I'vehad to apologize for them. And I
had to tell that I'm sorry, forgive me for what I did not
(20:24):
know. Forgive me for what Idon't know. You know, a when I
do know, Father, Lord, I askthat you order my steps, because
I'm still human. And there'sstill something in me that I
don't fully understand, becauseI would never fully understand.
So I ask that you hold my handand guide me and walk with me
and teach me or and that's why Isay get into the Bible, read the
(20:45):
Bible. And it's not just the onescriptures out there's is
getting into the stories, getting into the story of seeing
what could have took place andwhat could have went different
if the situation would have beenhandled different now if David
would have been up on hisrooftop at the palace, and he
would have saw her bathing downnear and he liked Dan, who was
(21:06):
that little sex EPyc downairbase and who is that and they
go tell him like oh, that'sBathsheba that's the daughter of
ilium and as the wife of Uriahnow David would have heard all
that you write his wife okay, Idon't want no person that you
know I'm gonna do my own thingand he would have went on about
his business. He would havenever plot not saying that he
(21:27):
potty but he would have neverput himself in a predicament
where he slept with BathshebaBathsheba got pregnant Uriah was
her husband, she couldn't havethe baby and deal with both So
David set him up to die likehappens all the time. In this
world different scenariosdifferent people, but same
(21:50):
situation. It's so crazy. Andyeah, you guys that was the end
of our chapter I mean to nameDavid. He went from I liked him
when he was in First Samuel whenwe first discovered him First
Samuel 17 When he was fightingwith Goliath but he over a
(22:10):
second Samuel he over heregetting caught up in the ACT
doing guys to not just guys tookwoman to Bathsheba both not not
saying I don't know the type ofstrength that she could have had
to deny David of sleeping withher but they both was wrong. And
for you riot to lose his lifeover that scandal. That was
(22:33):
wrong as well. Your I didn'teven have a clue what's going
on. He was literally just beinga servant. And God has every
right to be displeased with uswhen we act in a matter like we
just witnessed David act here inSecond Samuel chapter 11 You
