Hey, y'all, welcome to blessedto be S. I'm your cousin and
(00:48):
Christ one trail Evette. Andthis is bougie Bible study. If
you are new here, I'd like towelcome you to the number one
Bible study class that you willever come across. And if you are
not new here, you know how weget down. As we dive into the
Bible, I read a chapter a week,or every two weeks, or once a
month, or whatever the flow ofme coming on this podcast and
(01:11):
actually reading a chapter withyou, my cousin through Christ
can pick up the Bible anytime, and read the stories. And if I
must admit, the stories arereally interesting. And they're
really profound to understandingwhat God is doing in our lives
today individually. Because howHe will speak to someone may not
(01:33):
be the same, how she will speakto another one. And I say he she
because God has both them. Andhe created them in His likeness,
which is both men and women. Andso I'm so grateful to be here as
your cousin through Christ, toread the Bible to read the
stories to just dive in deep andjust understand what God is
(01:53):
saying to me. And I just hopethat you build a relationship
with God, so God can startspeaking to you. And you can
start speaking to God in waysthat you just know that your
best friend. So today'sepisodes, you guys will be in a
book of Isaiah. And it will bechapter 52, you can simply read
along, you can grab your Biblesand join or you can listen, it
(02:16):
is totally up to you, thisepisode would not be visual,
because I was not ready orprepared. And I'm just not
really fun to the whole visualthing right now. Because God is
still working on me. But that'sno excuse of me saying that I
was gonna go visual and bevisual and things like that. I'm
(02:37):
thinking maybe I spoke too fast.
And maybe I just got over myhead, and I'm in my head too
deep, where I'm not able toexecute this the way that I see
it out. But I'm praying forguidance. And I'm praying that
God renew my mind, and restrengthen my capacity of
understanding that he's alwaysin control. She's always in
(02:59):
control. And I'm not that I justneed to fall and lean on the
Lord, you know, wholeheartedly.
And that's just something thatI've been battling with, I just
want to be honest, because Iknow people like to walk around
and act like they're perfect.
And things like that. And I'mjust so far from me. And I want
to express that here. So that, you know, just as your cousin
(03:21):
and Christ man, we all Forsch weall fall short of something. And
so I'm really sorry. And Iapologize for my listeners,
because I really do want to govisual, and I'm just praying for
a better outcome and a timingwhen I can really do this and do
it consecutively. And do itconsistently. That's one thing
(03:41):
that I don't like is not beingconsistent with this podcast or
my visuals. So yes, pleaseexcuse me as I go into deeper
prayer, and deeper communicatingwith God, and just asking for
the Lord to continue to guide mysteps and, you know, order,
order my positions and thingslike that. So you guys, we will
(04:03):
just be having this podcasttoday. So the podcast is good
for listening. When you'reriding in a car, when you really
want to get into the Bible Argeshear another person's insight of
what they think of the storiesthat's portrayed in the Bible
and how they feel. God istalking to them. And that's
exactly what I'm doing here. Sograb your Bibles, I'm going to
(04:25):
talk too much. We will be inIsaiah 52. I went over Isaiah 52
basically trying to get anunderstanding and in context of
what Isaiah was talking to meabout. So I went to Isaiah 51.
And then I read Isaiah 52, but Ionly read it one time and since
then, you know I just beenasking God to just go deeper
(04:47):
into my understanding of whatIsaiah is talking to me about.
So you guys, we will be inIsaiah 52 today, and if you are
ready, I am ready to and Let'sgo. The chapter I'm sorry, I
didn't even tell you guys achapter of our title today the
chapter of our episode is calledsalvation, prophesied. Salvation
(05:09):
prophesied. That is the chapterthat is the title of our
chapter. And again, if you'reready, I'm ready. Let's go.
Awake, awake Zion, clothedyourself with strength. Put on
your garments of splendor,Jerusalem, the Holy City, the
uncircumcised and defiled willnot enter you again. Shake off
(05:34):
your does rise up, sit inthrone, Jerusalem, free yourself
from the chains on your neck, daughter, Zion, now a captive.
For this is what the Lord says,You were sold for nothing, and
without money, you will beredeemed. For this is what the
(05:56):
Sovereign Lord says, At first,my people went down to Egypt to
live lately, I Sariah hasoppressed them. And now what do
I have here? declares the Lord, for my people have been taken
away for nothing, and those whorule them Mark declares the
Lord. And all day long, my nameis constantly blasting me.
(06:20):
Therefore my people will know myname. Therefore, in that day,
they will know that it is I whoforetold it, yes, it is i How
beautiful on the mountains orthe feet of those who bring good
news who proclaim peace whobring good tidings, who proclaim
salvation who say to Zion, yourGod, rain if the to seven
(06:43):
beautiful feet, Isaiah portraysthe joy of carrying good news to
those desperately hoping for it,perhaps a city waiting for news
of a battle in which all theiryoung men were at risk. But
Isaias news is not a war. It isof God's people returning from
(07:04):
exile, with the Lord Himselfleading the way. And Romans 10.
In Romans 1015, Paul apply thisjoyful cheer to the messengers
who like himself for the goodnews of Jesus Christ. Verse
eight, listen, your watchmenlift up their voices. Together,
(07:26):
they shout for joy. And when theLord returns to Zion, they will
see it with their own eyes, burst into songs of joy
together, you ruins ofJerusalem, for the Lord has
comforted his people, he hasredeemed Jerusalem, the Lord
will lay bare his holy arm inthe sight of all nations, and,
(07:47):
and all the ends of the earthwill see the salvation of our
God. depart, depart, go out fromtheir touch, no unclean thing,
come out from it and be pure.
You carry the articles of theLord's house, but you will not
leave in haste or go in flightsfor the Lord will go before you,
(08:11):
the God of Israel will be yourrear guard, the suffering and
glory of the servant, verse 13.
See, my servant will act wisely,he will be raised and lifted up
and highly exalted. Just asthere were many who were
appalled at him. His appearancewas so disfigured beyond that of
(08:32):
any human being, and his formmirrored beyond human likeness.
So he will sprinkle many nationsand kings will shut their mouths
because of him for what theywere not told, they will see and
what they have not heard, theywill understand. And that's the
end of our chapter, very short.
(08:55):
And, again, it's a run in fromchapter 51. So if you kind of
would like to go and readchapter 51, please be my guest.
And that way you can understandthe context of what is taking
place in chapter 52. God istelling Xi'an to rise up, he is
speaking to Jerusalem in waysthat he is trying to explain to
(09:17):
them like what had been done toJesus was a prophecy. So if we
go into deeper context ofchapter 52, it says, the
suffering servant, who is thismysterious figure, and I
wouldn't know this if I had notwent into chapter 50 want to
(09:38):
understand like who is thisperson who
was disfigured who was so badand if you guys remember the
story of what they did to Jesus, when he when they flogged him,
and they beat him really bad.
This is this is the mysteriousperson that they're talking
about. They're talking aboutJesus Christ, when they beat him
up and they flogged him in Idisfigured him so bad that he
(10:00):
was not even lickable he, likepeople were looking like he was
very beat up real bad like heyou couldn't even recognize him.
He was so disfigured he was sounhuman like, he was just very,
very nasty because of the waythe what they did to him. So
this is the disfigured that theLord is talking about. I just
(10:20):
want to kind of give context onthat. So the suffering servant
who is this mysterious figure?
Chapter 52, verse 13, see, myservant will act wisely, he will
be raised and lifted up andhighly exalted. Isaiah is four
songs about a suffering servant, are among the richest and most
(10:41):
closely studied passages in theOld Testament. 40 to One, I'm
sorry, chapter 42, one throughnine, chapter 49, one through 13
Chapter, Chapter 54 throughnine, chapter 5213 and chapter
53, verse 12. This chapterillustrates why the Servant
(11:05):
Songs sparked fierce debatesamong the rabbies seeking to
understand it. The first partsthere's anticipation for glory,
time when God will restore theholy city and people will shout
to Jerusalem, your God reignsand 52 Seven, it looks as if
Israel will gain revenge on hisenemies at last. But the author
(11:28):
goes on to explain how God willredeem Jerusalem by introducing
the mysterious figure of thesuffering servant, who
apparently is disfigured beyondthat of any human being. Chapter
52 Verse 14, who is thissuffering survey? And how will
such a weakened person achieve agreat victory, even bringing
(11:49):
light to all nations Jewishscholars puzzled over these
passage for centuries, manyconsidered them the most
significant part of the entireHebrew scripture, yet they could
not agree on exactly what theprophet meant a nation or a
person. Sometimes the versespeaks of the servant as a
(12:09):
nation of Israel as a whole. Youare my servant, Israel and whom
I will display my splendor. Inchapter 49, verse three. In
other places, the servant seemsto refer to a specific
individual, a great leader whosuffers terribly. Isaiah
presents the servant as thedeliverer of all humankind. Yet,
(12:32):
it portrays him as more of atragic fifth figure than a hero.
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth,
he was led like a lamb to theslaughter. In or in chapter 53,
seven. That's where that passagecome from. An answer from the
New Testament, the idea of thesuffering servant did not really
(12:54):
catch on in the Jewish nation.
They longed for a victoriousMessiah, not a suffering one,
the image of the sufferingservant went underground as it
were lying dormant forcenturies. And a very dramatic
scene early in His ministry,Jesus quoted from one of the
sermon passages in i from one ofthe servant passages in Isaiah,
(13:14):
then he wrote up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant
and sat down. The eyes ofeveryone in the synagogue were
fasting on him. And he begansaying to them, today, this
Scripture is fulfilled in yourhearing. And that was in Luke,
chapter four, verse 20, throughone. At last, a link snapped
(13:36):
into place for some, but not forall of Jesus listeners, the
Messiah had come at last, not asa conquering general, but as a
carpenter's son from Nazareth.
So the last question is, if youhave been a Jew, in Jesus day,
(14:00):
would you have been disappointedin the Messiah? Why did Jesus
Why did Jesus choose to come asa suffering servant, rather than
as perhaps a triumph at Army?
General? I don't think Jesus hada choice. In this part of the
question. Why did Jesus chooseto come as a servant, a
(14:23):
suffering servant? Jesus didn'thave a choice. That was all
God's doing. When you don't havea choice, and it's God's plan.
You have to go with it. Andthat's why God said, My servant
will come and be exalt. Let mego back and make sure we're on
(14:44):
13. He said, My servant will actwisely. He will be raised and
lifted up and highly exalted.
And that was in verse 13. Is youBecause Jesus didn't have a
choice, his choice was to come,be obedient and act wisely to
(15:06):
the words of God, whatever Godtold him, that was between Jesus
and God. Now, if I was a, if Iwas born in those days of the
Jew when Jesus was alive, Iain't gonna lie. If I didn't
have the same mindset that Ihave today, I probably will be
obviously in their mindset andtheir brain, I think I probably
would have been disappointed.
Because when you think of amessiah, you think of like this
(15:27):
great king, or this greatwarrior, or this great person
coming to, you know, save you orwhatever. So you don't really
get the understanding of thecontext that Jesus came as a
carpenter's son, as a son of acarpenter, you know, from
Nazareth, and you really don'tget like, you wouldn't get that
(15:50):
he's this great, fierce Kingthat came from God, if you I
know, I'm talking about me, if Iwould have been born in those
days, I would have been like,Who is this scrawny little guy
come and talk about He's theMessiah, I think I would have
had questions for sure. Onlybecause just times are
(16:11):
different. But now as I'm inthese times, and these New Age
times, and I'm able to read thestories and, and, and understand
some and, you know, talk to Godand get more context of what's
going on. Outside of me, that'shappening in the spiritual
(16:32):
realm, you know, that that comeswith that relationship with God,
and it's just trusting God, whenGod tells you to do something,
do it. And I spoke about that. Ispoke on that the last episode,
but me, you know, I will feellike, what is this Messiah
doing? And in the way they didhim so dirty? The Jewish
(16:53):
community, you know, they didJesus just so Oh, they did, I'm
so dirty, they didn't so wrong.
Because they didn't like that hewas the Messiah, they just, oh,
if you go deep into the Bible,it really opens up to show you
how people, it shows you howpeople how humanity can really
(17:16):
be. So I think for me, you know,I would have wanted a soldier
like person. But that would havejust been in those days and a
Jew, I'm so happy that I was notborn in those times. And, you
know, I mean, probably I was,you know, I probably was
reincarnated, you know, to a newperson who I am today. But it's
(17:41):
just, you know, it's amazingwhen I go into the stories,
because some stories are kind oflike, what, what is he talking
about? But there was a passagehere, in the in the Bible, where
I've seen preachers preach this.
But I see they preach it fortheir own context of
understanding how to deliver itto people, and it's just so
(18:02):
important to really pick up theBible and read the stories are
so because the messages go intoeach, each of us separately and
differently, and we can cometogether and understand that
sometimes stories and context ofway of your perspective is
different. And, and I like tohear other people's
understanding on certainchapters when I read it, and I
(18:23):
hear it again from other people, and I like to hear how they
thought about the story or whatGod is talking to them about,
that they could deliver out tome. But when he spoke on Zion
and Tozai Yana wake up, he wasspeaking as ayat and if you go
into chapter 51, when God saidZion when he called her, Zion
(18:44):
her it was like, I think he wastalking to me because I'm a
female right and so sometimeswhen you hear he heard you kind
of put yourself in thatsituation and and see you know,
what is God's telling me about?
So wake up, wake up, Ziad. Closeyourself with strength, put all
(19:06):
your garments of splendor,Jerusalem, the Holy City.
He did. He did say like her.
That's it. I was hurt. But Ijust feel like it's just like,
women like me in general, likeme, like, wake up, wake up, put
on my strength, you know, put onclothes myself with strength
because the world can tackle youand hurt you so bad that you
(19:29):
forget how strong you are. Youforget that God has installed
you with the strength that youcan overcome and be anything.
And this is anything that we gothrough. From depression, to
anxiety to financial debt, tofamily matters. Anything that
you could be going through Godhas clothed you with the
(19:50):
strength he just tells us to putit on. But it's crazy to me
because like I've been feelingweak lately, either. I'm filling
in, you know, unworthy not ofGod, but just being here on
Earth, wondering what my purposeis, because I like to serve
people I like to give back. ButI haven't been in my element
(20:14):
where I'm able to do that. And Iknow I've been battling with
myself, that I just been feelingweak and to go over the passage
and to really, you know, put onyour clothes yourself with
strength, is like, it's areminder to me is like, grow,
get up, wake up, clothe yourselfwith strength, you know what I'm
saying, Put on your garments ofsplendor, like I am splinting, I
(20:37):
am a great person, I'm a greathuman. And I just want to
continue to come out of myshell, because he needs to be
this great person that I wasthat I am in God's eyes. And so
I just continue to ask God towork with me, not just work with
me, but install things in methat I'm unfamiliar with,
(21:00):
installed new, new thoughts andme like renew my mindset, renew
my spirit, bringing a freshbreath of fresh spirit of the
Holy Spirit to continue to guideme, and continue to me to look
to you even through all of mydowns, and my upset when I'm
feeling like I don't know, to dolike my visuals and my podcasts
(21:24):
and everything. And it's just soeasy a person to like, you know,
just get up and do it. But it'sa lot that comes with being just
confident and secure, andstrong. And what you are putting
out there, because I am readingthe Bible, and judgment does
come from the community ofhumanity to people who think
(21:45):
that because you read the Bible,or you have a relationship with
God, that you cannot live, everyday life, or you cannot
wear the clothes you wear or dothe things you do or hang with
people you hang. It's just like, people have their own mindset of
how they want to install theBible on you or install God's
words on you. Or they look downon you. And people don't like to
admit, but it really will messwith your, your spirit, it
(22:08):
messes with your understandingof that God is taking you just
exactly the way you are messedup, not messed up, or whatever
the case may be like God acceptyou just the way that you are.
And it's other people's ideasand opinions that are being
placed on us, that make us thinkthat God's God is not on our
(22:28):
side. So the suffering servant,I really understood who that
was, because that was Jesus. AndI didn't understand that first.
Because I didn't go into contextof you know, a suffering
servant. But like God said, Myservant will be raised and
lifted highly, and he will beexalted. My servant will act
(22:53):
wisely, act wisely, that is sokey, how to act wisely. And that
wisely it just, it just made methink like, you know, just to
continue to look to God.
However, you identify your God,I showbusiness. I wasn't born in
the Jerusalem times. I'm notfrom Jerusalem. I'm not from
(23:14):
Israel. But I know many, many, many, many, many, many, many,
many, many, many years, mypeople has descended from these
areas. And you know, just beinga woman, just being a woman, a
woman of God, and someone who'sable to give birth and not just
birth children, but birth lifeback into people, whether it's
(23:35):
motivation, encouragement, anything like that, you know, as
a woman to get up and clothemyself with strength. I think
that was key words for me is getup, wake up, wake up, you know,
every day, wake up, and clotheyourself with strength, because
God has gave him gave me thatgarment to close myself. So I
(23:58):
don't need to fall weak andshort to anybody, our society,
or beyond the timing of anybody, our society, because it's always
God's timing, like right now, this present moment, Yesterday
is the past is not here anymore.
Tomorrow's the future. I don'tknow what it holds. So right
now, right here, I'm going to bein God's presence. And I'm going
(24:19):
to put on my strength. Becausethere was a person who came and
died for my sins. There was aperson who came and took on all
of the negative things of peoplewhat they have to say, and they
flogged him and that person wasJesus, who died for my sins on
the cross. And, unfortunately, what they did to him as a result
(24:41):
of my greatness today is areason why I can say, No weapon
formed against me shall prosper.
And every time raised against meshould be laid in a hell of the
pit of hell, you know, you wouldnot you would not Put yourself
on me are, you're not even justthat, like me, myself putting so
(25:07):
much pressure on myself, Dothis, do that, or you got to do
this or you got to do that tolook a certain way or to be
known from people. It's like,No, I'm human, I make mistakes.
I'm not always on point, notalways on time. I'm not always
looking for the King of theKings. And I'm not always
looking for the servant. But I'mright here trying to figure
(25:28):
things out for me and understandthat, you know, God is working
with me on an individual basis, just like he's working with
everybody on an individualbasis. So yeah, I wouldn't have
probably accepted the Messiahback in those days, because
those times were different. ButI'm very grateful and glad that
God sent his servant, to be veryobedient and wise, and act out,
(25:52):
according to what God hadplanned for him. So it was
already prophesied. And I'mjust, I'm just very grateful.
Not always am I gonna be here onthe podcast, but I'm here as
much as I can be. And I justthank God that I had this
opportunity. Because if youdon't know, now, you know that
(26:13):
you have been rocking with yourcousin and Christ, one trial of
it. And I hope that actually youget a relationship with God,
it's so important to have thatrelationship with God, Oh, my
goodness, I can't stress thatenough. I can't stress that
enough. That it'd be so funnyand crazy to me. Because, you
(26:33):
know, you can listen all day tothe stories of the Bible, but to
act on what God is telling youis like, super key. And even
though sometimes, in my mind, Ithink I gotta do this, I gotta
do that. No, I got to do this, Igot to do that. And when I talk
to God gotta be like, No, I justwant you to talk with me, or I
just want you to sit with me, Iwant you to take on what's
(26:54):
happening around you. I want youto help spy like He guides you
throughout the day. It's calleda daily bread, something that he
feeds you and give you things todo that day. And I never want to
go outside of today, the presentday, any day that I'm given, and
think that I have it figured outbecause I don't. So you guys,
thank you guys, for rocking withme. I'm sorry. Today's episode
(27:16):
was not visual. I'm gonna try todo a visual next week. But I
can't promise you guys anything.
But I'm going to try to justkeep this podcast going. Because
the Bible is of the story. Thestories of the Bible are really,
really great for us. And notjust one, not just two, but for
all of us from all nations allover the world. And every
language that comes. The Biblehas this context where people
(27:36):
just wants to put their ownthing on it. And that's why I
say it's so good to read theBible on your own and just see
what God is talking to youabout. And you guys, you guys,
were rocking with me oncerelevant on bougie Bible study.
Until next time, you guys don'tforget to check us out on social
media. blessed to be as onInstagram, bougie Bible studies
on Facebook, hey, not reallygoing on there, but it will come
(27:58):
sooner rather than later. Okay.
One thing I do trust is God andI trust God with my whole heart.
I don't trust myself as much asI trust God. And it's so crazy
and true to say that but I'mhonest. So until next time, you
guys, I will talk to you nextweek. Bye.
