Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your Diary episode. Here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm a bit of a nomad, so these episodes come
to you from wherever I'm living or traveling to at
the time, so I'll share with you what's going on
in my world, from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals,
nature adventures, health discoveries, to swimming in hidden Byron Bay beaches.

(00:25):
Come with me as I share my adventures with you.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Hello, Byron Diary coming for you.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Oh jeez, I've been enjoying these Byron Diaries so flip
and much and I'm just soaking up every single second
of definitely one of my favorite parts of the world.
I'm coming to you today from a place that we're
staying in Byron called twenty eight Degrees. It is so

(00:56):
flip and beautiful. It is all about sustainable luxury. Big
thank you, Deb, who not only is the owner and
creator of this space, but she is one talented interior designer.
So like everything has been thought out. There's like rose
courts countertops, there's moonshine coffee in house. You wake up

(01:19):
every morning to this paleo granola brecky pathe just waiting
for you. That Deb hand makes it is so so beautiful.
We have our own private plunge pool. All the water
is filtered. It is like being in a retreat in
the very heart of Byron Bay. So when Boss and

(01:39):
I have always lived here in the Northern Rivers, we've
always lived in the Hindland in Bangalow, and so being
in like Byron City is feels like a real treat
for us because we haven't really spent loads of time
in the city. So it's been so nice just to
totally soak Byron Bay up. So since we spoke, since

(02:01):
I've done my last pod.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Diary with you, I am seed.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
A book launch at a bookstore here called the Book Corner.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Is that what it's called?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Boo the book Corner. Can you do a quick little
fact checked for me? It'd be on my highlights anyway,
This wonderful author Georgie was launching her new book. So
she's got a couple of books out, but the first
one I coached her on.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yes, Boo the book room.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
The bookroom in Byron Bay is where the book launch was,
and it was for Georgie's second book called Master Your
Relationship Anxiety so good and actually that's gonna be your
Monday podep. So I did the interview the morning of
the actual book launch.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Though, I got so flippin' nervous before the book launch.
I am a really good one on one person small groups,
but the moment it's a bigger group, I guess sweaty palms.
I was sweating bullets like an I know whatever.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I was just like, wow, this is scary.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
But it was so fun and it was so fun
to celebrate an author that I had coached. So I
don't know if you know that about me, but I
coach people not just in nutrition but also podcasting and writing,
and if for some reason you are interested in that,
you can just email me at lolaberry dot com. So

(03:26):
it was just a cool, full circle moment. And Georgie's
new book is flip and wonderful, and yet you'll get
to hear all about that on Monday's episode. She does
this really cool thing which talks about the three stages
of love, based love, chaotic glove, and expansive love, So
tune in Monday for that. Then after to celebrate Georgie

(03:47):
and her beautiful launch, we all went to this place
for dinner that I've never been to before in Byron
Bay called Pixie and they I'm gluten free. I think
you guys know that, but I'm gluten free, and I
was like, oh, this is an Italian place. I wonder
how old go. I was able to get a really
yummy Wagoo bolonnaise on gluten free, and even the starters
with this really yummy anchovy ricotto anchovies on toast, and

(04:11):
I got that on gluten free as well, So really
easy to be gf there. And then we literally next
day checked into this absolutely glorious, glorious place called twenty
eight degrees. So I'm going to tell you a little
bit about it. This is full transparency. This is a
gifted stay boss, and I have been so spoilt. Deb

(04:31):
you are wonderful, But I just want to let the
listener you guys know how this place came to be
because if you are coming to Byron for a holiday,
it's literally in the main town, so you wouldn't even
really need a car. Like we've just been walking everywhere.
I've been going to pilates at Peaches. That's another good
handy tip. Peaches do one week and two week holiday passes.

(04:54):
As I record this today, it's the last day of
my holiday pass, and I think I'm going to go
and do a restorative yoga class tonight and then it'll
be my last pass of that on my last of
my Peaches pass. But it's fifty nine dollars and I've
already done five classes and tonight it'll be my six,

(05:15):
so it kind of works out like ten bucks a class.
It's really good if you make the most of that week.
And then I think they offer two week passes for
one hundred and twelve or something like that, so really good.
Highly recommend doing that, and you can walk in Boss.
And I also had a really delisious wrecky today. We
got up, we went to the Byron Farmers markets, which

(05:35):
are always on a Thursday, so I'm recording this the
day before the diary comes out, which is kind of
my huge and we went to the Farmer's market, got
ourselves some organic passion fruit have back in our room.
But we also went and had a really early or
brunchy lunchy thing at the General Store in Byron Bay,

(05:55):
and they've just launched their autumn menu and I got
the absolutely delicious like banana macadamia porridge, Like it was
steel cutoats, so yummy, Boss got the brecky becky burgaboo
or beck brecky bacon, and Eggie said bacon and egg. Okay,
So I want to talk to you about our calm
where we're staying. So it's called twenty eight degrees. It's

(06:17):
literally like bang smack in the middle of Byron. So
this is how it came to be, and it's so cute.
So the two owners, I believe it's Linden and Debbie.
I mean triple check that yeap Linen and Debbie, and
I think Linden's a Cairo as well. Anyway, here on
a picture perfect day in two thousand and five, we

(06:38):
married at Watergoes Beach. Soon after we bought a small
nineteen forties Federation cottage on the location where you are.
Now that's me right, so in the heart of Byron.
Our love for this place and everything represents is the
inspiration for twenty eight degrees Byron Bay. Now deb is
from help me out here, Boss, Ireland, Norfolk Island.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Why are you laughing at me? Why are you laughing
at me?

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Well you can popa my com and that has also
got like a latitude of twenty eight degrees Is that right, boo?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
And Byron Bay also has that same latitude. Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Okay, So we just got that fact check, which is good.
So twenty eight degrees Byron Bay was created as a
place of relaxation and rejuvenation of mind, body, and spirit.
This state of calm is a rare and luxurious gift
in our chaotic world. We hope you find it with
us here. Now, this is what I get really excited
about sustainable luxury. It literally feels like you're at a

(07:37):
health retreat. We hope all the touches below combined to
give you a sense of barefoot luxury to help you
feel relaxed and contented. Every design aspect of your room
was made to offer you the most luxurious and comfortable
experience in a sustainable way.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
So here we go.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
We employed local architects, craftsmen, and builders for the construction
and insisted on the use of sustainable materials. We believe
in making our environmental footprint as light as can be.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
We source our product our products locally.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Everything you see around you, from the soap to the
towels and the bed linen, is sourced consciously. Even the
flaws that your feet may be enjoying right now. Were
made from recycled French oak with ruebaiostain. I hope I'm
saying that right finished with a non toxic low USO coating,

(08:29):
so there's literally no no toxins, no nothing. So the
cool thing is as well, you're in charge of your time.
So if you want to, you know, go and enjoy
a Byron nightlife, you can totally do that.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
It's all walking distance. There's really great restaurants.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
I have a Byron guide already on this potto and
we talk about Moonlight, which is a beautiful Japanese restaurant.
There's Smoking Camel, which a beautiful Moroccan restaurant. Obviously you've
got Woods and recently those boys open Tuck Shop and
that's more in Bangalo in the hinterland, and there is
just so much Like we're even walking to the Farmer's

(09:08):
market this morning there was Bayleaf Combie. There's just so
many great places. Boss and I since we've been here
at twenty eight degrees have been to High Life twice.
I get these kimchi brown rice fruters. Boss always gets
the ruben and I get a side of either macrol
or sardines. It's so yummy, so healthy. They also do

(09:30):
this amazing coffee called a turbo, which is a cold
brew with MCT oil so medium chain druglycerides blended up
with a bit of cinnamon and it is so good.
Your brain is just like on fire all day, so
so good. So that is and I think I had
a little look at twenty eight degrees as insta. But

(09:53):
I think they have a winter deal or offer going
right now where if you book, can you check fact
check this for me? Boo, So just be on the insta.
But I think if you book for two nights, their
winter special is that you get a third night free.
But let's get that fact check before I start spouting
those things. And while Matt's fact checking, I have also

(10:15):
done the Lighty Hike. I think three times in the
last week. I've seen kohalas every single time. Also got
to see lots of dolphins. If you hike in the afternoon,
this is a good hack. You would definitely see dolphins.
It's so so good and there's so many pods and families. Okay, bosses,

(10:43):
Oh okay, here we go, thanks boo boo, Okay winter offers.
Winter is actually one of the most magical times to
experience Byron Bay, Chris Morning's Golden Sunsets, fewer crowds, pure bliss.
Stay with us this June, July or August and enjoy
one of the three one of these special wind offers.

(11:04):
Stay two nights and enjoy three course lunch for two
at beach Byron Bay. And they've got a code for
you to use there. And that's just at Clark's Beech,
which is like what you say, Boss, fifteen minute walk
from here, nice and clothes, and then there's stay three
nights and get an extra night on us, no code needed.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
That is incredible. I would highly recommend doing that. One.
That's unreal and.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
It like you're not gonna want to leave here, Boss
and I have already extended, like we were meant to
stay for a couple of nights and we've extended to
four and then five and so we just absolutely love it.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
We don't want to leave here at all. Okay, what else?

Speaker 2 (11:47):
I also did a little Spottish shopping this morning, Nagnada
vn Roy. I'm heading back into the shops to have
a sus At spell, which is all that beautiful, whimsical
and those feels festival you kind of close as well.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Before I go back to Los Angeleos. What else have
I got here? Where else have we been? Boot?

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Oh? We watched this beautiful sunset at Tallow's Beach. The
sunsets here much. I will say the sunsets in La
are flipping incredible as well, but the sunsets here are
just so beautiful. And we walked down to Tallow's Beach
one night, I think it was maybe the night before
the book launch, and we just stood there watched the
sun go down. We were the only ones on the beach,

(12:35):
feet in the water, like so stunning. We should do
that on main beach tonight.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Boom.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
So. Yeah, it's so great being here because everything is
so easy to get to, easy to walk to, really accessible. Yeah,
highly highly highly recommend staying here and doing a visit
to Byron, and Byron feels quite different to the Hindland,
Like it's a very different field in Uribar or Bangers.

(13:03):
You know, it really feels like you getting that beautiful
beach get away vibe. And because it is such a
great place where people love to come and stay, They're
like there's always like new great restaurants, new great cafes,
like constantly showing up on the main street. Oh and
I two hot tips if you want yummy healthy chocolate.

(13:27):
Pana Chocolate have just launched their Rocky Road that Boss
and I are quite obsessed with. And then you've got
Loco Love here, which is the local chocolate brand here
and it's all like Sarah, I believe they use ceremonial
gray cacao and there's like adaptogens in the chocolate. My
favorite is this like caramel short bread one. It's like
a red packet. But our friend Giordana loves this cherry.

(13:50):
It's like a dark is it black raspberry and cherry boo?
He said, I don't know, but we tried that last night.
That was really nice. It's like a rose gan Nash
And my friend was like, when you have that, you
feel like a little forest fairy, and so yeah, it's
really good chocolate. So try Loco Love and Pana Chocolate.

(14:10):
When you hear Pano Chocolate, I think you can get
all over Australia. I think Loco Love is more specialty
and very Byron It's in a lot of shops in
Byron Bay. One of the big health food stores here
is called Santos that's a really great place to get
your hands on all your favorite healthy things. And then
another place that Boss loves to go for lunch most
days is Sunday Sustainable Bakery. They actually have a lot

(14:32):
of gluten free stuff as well, but Boss loves the
pork and fennel sausage rolls.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
So there you have it.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
That is Byron Diary. I'm sad that I'm not spending
too much more time here.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
I'll be heading back to La soon.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
So I'm just like literally soaking up every single second
that we can in Byron and at the same time
really just trying to ground as well and soak up
nature and soak up just like super chill time with Boss,
because I know when I get back to America it's
going to be go go go, So just soaking up

(15:11):
all the like beautiful nature, animals, fresh air, farmers' markets.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
I love it. I love it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Okay, I hope you love this Byron Diary. Again, huge
shout out and thank you to twenty eight degrees. We
are loving our stay here. And yeah, book yourself a
trip to Byron Bay. This is your sign. This is
your sign, and make it a win to get away
my friends all right, hooru, big love.
