On today’s Hello Houston, we take the show on the road as we broadcast live from Untitled Art Houston, a highly anticipated contemporary art fair making its debut in Houston and taking place this weekend at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
In the show’s first hour, we hear from Untitled Art founder Jeff Lawson and Untitled Art director Michael Slenske, who discuss what makes this art fair different and why Houston was selected as the city to expand the fair from its flagship in Miami Beach. We’re also joined by Erin Dorn of Seven Sisters Gallery, who tells us more about her gallery, which is one of 88 other galleries participating in the fair.
Also, in the first hour, we hear another episode of Ernie Manouse’s “InnerVIEWS” series, in which he sits down with America’s Got Talent semifinalist and singer Christina Wells.
Then, in the second hour, we talk with artists El Franco Lee II and Isabelle Brourman, two voices at the intersection of urban culture and contemporary art, who share their deeply personal and deeply Houston perspectives. Plus, Untitled Art executive director Clara Andrade discusses the art fair’s educational programming and prizes, and Houston-based artist Vincent Valdez tells us about his latest project.
And, as always, Ernie, Frank, and Celeste discuss the top stories of the day at the top of each hour, including media organizations calling for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s divorce records to be unsealed, Montrose's iconic rainbow crosswalks being removed, and the president of Texas A&M University stepping down.
