Tatiana (00:00):
Welcome to the
Integrated Wisdom Podcast.
I am your host, Tatyana DaSilva.
Join me as we discuss what itmeans to live an integrated life
and explore ways for you tocreate a life filled with
greater meaning, peace, andconnection by integrating the
wisdom of spirituality,psychology, Neuroscience,
(00:26):
Epigenetics and EnergyPsychology are hoped to empower
you to create deeper and moreloving connections with yourself
and others, whilst also pavingthe way for humanity at large to
be reimagined and inspired tobecome the very best version of
itself.
(00:50):
Hello, and welcome to theintegrated wisdom podcast.
Thank you so much for joining mefor yet another week.
I am very excited to be bringingthis week's episode.
As it's a topic that is close tomy heart.
Those of you that have youfollowing me?
(01:11):
For a little while.
Or know that I am.
Very big on advocating for theintegration of spirituality.
And science or spirituality andpsychology more specifically.
And I come from the perspectivethat we are spiritual beings.
Having a human experience.
(01:33):
And I feel that it's only amatter of time before we start
to be able to.
I guess demonstrate thatspiritual context in which life
happens.
And I've done a few podcastepisodes before where I have
spoken about some advances inscientific research.
That'd been touching on this.
(01:54):
Or having stayed to shine aspotlight on this.
At the start of this year, Ispoke about some advances in
quantum biology.
That were really exciting andwere starting to pave the way
for conversations to be hadaround the possibility that.
consciousness exists outside ofour brain and our body.
(02:17):
And in fact has a connection tothe universe.
And for those of you who haven'tlistened to that episode, I
highly recommend that you do.
I will add a link to thatepisode in the show notes to
make it easier for you.
If you haven't heard, had achance to listen to that one
yet.
And.
Science more recently hasdefinitely been shining a bigger
(02:38):
spotlight on the spiritualrealm.
And I guess starting to explore.
The, the fact that there is aspiritual element to, to life,
to.
Human beings.
And even starting to appreciatethat.
Really in order for us to, tocontinue to progress as a
(03:01):
species, we need to startfactoring that in, into.
Our understanding of the worldand ourselves.
And so it was very exciting forme to come across.
An article this week.
That expands this even further.
So.
(03:22):
that's what I wanted to talk toyou all about today.
Well this week, just want togive you this brief little
overview of this new theory.
That's starting to be discussedmore broadly.
To be clear.
It is.
A theory in its infancy.
There's absolutely no.
scientific.
Proof that this theory iscorrect.
(03:45):
There's certainly a lot ofpushback.
At the prospect of this theory, but for me, the reason I wanted
to talk about it is mostlybecause I find it really
exciting that such a theory evenexists.
And so.
this theory comes from.
A professor of physics at theuniversity of Nevada and Las
(04:05):
Vegas.
And the U S Dr.
Michael Pravica.
And Dr.
Pravica suggests that ourconsciousness might not just be
a product of brain activity.
But in fact it might actually betapping into hidden dimensions
of the universe.
So he's postulating thatconsciousness human
(04:26):
consciousness doesn't actuallyoriginate in the brain.
But.
In actual fact is connected to.
Other dimensions beyond thedimensions that we're aware of.
On earth.
Which is mind-blowing, right?
Because when you come from thespiritual perspective of.
(04:47):
Humans being souls that inhabita human physical body, but once
the body dies, that soul.
that sentient energy essence.
Continues to exist beyond thelimitations of the physical
body.
And.
A theory, like this is one steptowards being able to actually
(05:11):
demonstrate that.
Right.
So I was beside myself, when Icame across this.
And what's interesting is again,a lot of this is based on.
Very theoretical concepts, nothing that has been
conclusively proven.
But he has based his theory.
On the concept of hyperdimentionality.
(05:34):
Which is this idea that theuniverse has more dimensions of
the four that we perceive in ourphysical senses.
So the height, the width and thedepth of material matter.
And the concept of time.
So that's an additionaldimension that we perceive.
But what Dr Pravica.
(05:55):
has, has been postulating orproposing, is that when we're in
states of heightened awareness, like when we're dreaming, when
we're being creative, Or engagedand deeply focused on.
Intellectual tasks.
Our consciousness might actuallybe transcending our physical
dimension.
And connecting with these hiddenrealms.
(06:17):
If you like.
So this idea of extradimensions, isn't actually new
to physics.
And.
You know, It shouldn't need tosay this, but I'm going to say
it anyway.
I am clearly not a physicist.
I'm a psychologist.
And so many of these concepts, all.
(06:37):
Way outside my, my level ofunderstanding.
And so I'm not going to sit hereand, and.
Try to explain the intricaciesof these, of the physics and
the, and the different theoriesthat.
form this approach that Dr.
Pravica is taking.
But in essence in physics, thereis already.
(06:59):
A school of thought that.
Uh, has considered.
The possibility that there areextra dimensions to our reality.
Beyond the four that weexperienced, like I mentioned,
In fact, it's actually, what's acore element of string theory.
Which in essence proposes thatthe universe is made up of tiny
(07:22):
vibrating strings of energy.
That can exist in up to 11dimensions.
So there's potentially.
Six or seven dimensions beyondthe ones that we can already.
feel and measure with our, withthe sensors that are available
to us in our physical body.
And the tools that we have.
Available, scientifically at themoment.
(07:44):
And obviously these additionalsix, seven dimensions exist
outside the scope of the toolsthat we have, which is why
they're it's, it's still.
Sitting very firmly in the campof theory.
It hasn't yet been proven in,certainly may not be proven in a
lifetime though.
I'm always hopeful that thatwill, that will change.
(08:06):
Um, But that's in essence, whatstring theory says.
Right that there are additionaldimensions.
That make up the universe thatwe don't yet perceive or don't
have the means to perceive.
But that they're there and thatthey haven't influenced.
In the experiences that we havehere on earth.
And in fact, may account forsome of the phenomenon that
(08:26):
science hasn't yet been able toexplain.
So it's super exciting.
Right.
That there is this whole realmof physics that is opening
itself up to the possibilitythat there are these spiritual
realms, this invisible realms, then have an influence.
Um, and interaction.
With the material.
Nature of the world that wehave, that we live in and.
(08:49):
Uh, ourselves.
At large.
And so when I read this, I justwanted to share it because I do
feel like it's, it's one stepit's one more step in that right
direction.
Right.
Um, I believe firmly that.
Science is a very valuable tooland it's not at odds with
(09:10):
spirituality.
In fact, it's the mechanismthrough which we started to
understand.
the spiritual nature of life.
And vice versa.
I think they go hand in hand.
And suddenly science is limitedby the questions that it asks
and the tools that it has.
But more recently, there'sdefinitely been leaps and bounds
(09:32):
in terms of the questions andthe tools that we've been able
to access.
And so our understanding of lifeand ourselves.
Continues to expand.
In more recent decades at anexponential rate, someone say,
And so, yeah, it's superexciting for me.
To to come across this conceptthat this additional.
(09:53):
Uh, scientific lens is being.
Placed over.
Uh, potential spiritualexplanation for some of the
things that we experienced for,for how we exist.
Um, you know, It does.
It's not a big leap to make.
to go from.
Our consciousness doesn'toriginate in the brain.
(10:13):
It comes from additionaldimensions in the universe, as
Dr Pravica has postulated.
Or to the idea that we areenergy sentience beings that
exist beyond the limitations ofour physical bodies.
And so that's what I wanted toshare with you again, it's.
(10:36):
Sadly, it's not something that Ican say has been conclusively
demonstrated or proven.
But I think the fact that thesequestions are being asked that
these theories are beingpostulated is a huge step.
It's a leap.
In fact, Towards that rightdirection.
Right.
I think about.
Some of the, the understandingsand then that we used to hold
(10:59):
this fact in science.
That we have now learned.
We're actually.
Not completely accurate and haveseen Inc expanded our
understanding of certain subjectmatters and.
Incorporated these additionalfindings.
No one that comes to mind for meis the concept of DNA.
When I was in high school, studying biology in high school,
(11:21):
which yeah.
Between us.
It wasn't that long ago.
Um, There.
We were taught that.
You know, DNA was double helixstructure with the protein
chains in the middle.
And that was all there was toit.
And it's not since we maybe 15,10 years ago.
(11:43):
That we started to reallyunderstand that there are many
other structures to, DNA's notjust the double helix.
And in fact that there is thisadditional layer that governs
DNA gene expression.
Which is has been termedepigenetics.
And that's the, the mechanismthat takes into account the
influence of the environment inthe experiences that we have to
(12:07):
determine how genes areexpressed or suppressed.
Um, Sort of, you know, for many, many, many decades, There was no
awareness that that existed, butit's obviously always been
there.
Right.
All it took is for someadditional technological
advances to come through andsome curious questions to be
(12:30):
asked, to be able to shine aspotlight on these other layers
to something we already held us.
Understood.
To expand.
And I think this is exactlywhat's happening in the realm
of.
Spirituality and science, they're starting to turn towards
each other and recognize that.
We're talking about the samethings from different angles,
(12:52):
really.
You know, some of the things, the spiritual experiences that
we discuss.
There.
They're not supernatural.
They're part off the naturalworld.
We just don't have the means todemonstrate or explain them yet.
And that science as job.
Right?
And so as these questionscontinue to be posed, that's
hopefully what we're going toget.
We're going to start tounderstand more and more.
(13:15):
How all these things kind ofcome together and start to see
more and more.
The the additional spiritualelements.
To human beings and to livehere.
You know, to life in general.
So I hope you found this asfascinating as I did.
I will put a link to thearticle.
In my show notes for you.
If you'd like to read some ofthis, um, you know, I will pref.
(13:38):
I will say that.
Of course there's a lot ofpushback increases on to this
theory.
It's a very, it's a very newtheory.
But it's in a sort of course, aswith any type of new school of
thought.
There's going to be pushback.
And the, the criticism.
Mostly centered around the ideathat.
(13:59):
These types of theoriespotentially open the door for,
for speculation and unscientificdiscussions.
And try to force people intobelieving that it's not okay to
not know.
Those things.
Um, and you know, there'spotentially some validity to
that, but I think as well, Wecan't advance our knowledge.
(14:22):
Of anything without, beingcurious about what we don't
know.
Right.
We don't know what, we don'tknow a lot of the time.
some of these things that we'retalking about, we know we don't
know them.
Like we know we don't knowexactly how consciousness works.
Even the fact that theconsciousness starts in the
brain, that's a theory.
Some of these.
Some of the elements ofconsciousness interacting with
(14:42):
the brain we can measure.
And so it's easy to conclude.
That that's where it originatesfrom, but it's still a theory,
right?
Nothing has caught.
Like categorically proven.
And then a shadow of doubt thatthere is no other cause for
consciousness other than brainactivity.
And so.
You know, part of being ascientist is asking questions
(15:03):
like that.
It's asking what don't we know, how else could we try to point
at the answers?
So, yeah, these sorts of debatesreally excite me.
And yeah, I hope you found thisintriguing.
I'd love to hear your thoughtson this.

thoughts that may have.
Um, like I said, oh, add a linkto the article in the show
notes.
And I also.
And a link to the other episodeI did early in the year.
Where I spoke about some of the, some similar advances in the
field of quantum biology.
(15:50):
Um, which again, we're alsobeing really exciting and a step
in the direction towardsdemonstrating the spiritual
nature of life and human beingsin particular.
So I hope you'll have a lovelyweek and I will speak to all
next time.
