(00:22):
What 209.
How are you?
Happy Wednesday?
I'm looking out my studiowindow into my neighbor's
flowers over there, into thefoothills of Northern California
, where it's a beautiful day,just like yesterday a little
mixture, a little sun, littleclouds.
How are you?
(00:43):
Thank you for tuning in.
Appreciate you very much.
My name is Patrick Pat Walsh.
I host the Pat Walsh Show, asheard on KFPK Radio, the iHeart
app streaming live.
All the podcasts in my show areavailable as well the Pat Walsh
Show, but this is the extensionof my show.
This is my Pat's Peeps podcast, working on 210 tomorrow.
(01:07):
I've been doing this every dayand getting a lot of nice
messages and positive feedback,so thank you for being a part of
our Pat's Peeps community here.
I should play this wonderfulthing I've got for my brother.
I might just play that today.
(01:28):
My brother Tim, if you'relistening to me right now, I'm
going to do something, probablyduring this podcast.
I have not done yet, but I'mgoing to do it because I want
you to hear what my brother saidto me yesterday.
I was having an interview withhim.
You know I keep he's myyoungest brother, timothy I keep
(01:49):
teasing ahead and you're like, yeah, you're the boy that cries.
Well, because I'm putting thesebusinesses together and I want
to represent them and I want togive you good deals on local
businesses, which I've mentionednumerous times.
I know so Tim is going to bethe first one I'm going to share
with you, but the fact is, whathe surprised me with yesterday
(02:11):
was awesome, so I don't want toforget that.
I don't want to forget that.
So several things here on Pat'sPeeps 209.
Several things on my mind today.
One I new music, that is, I'mgoing to be featuring from local
(02:31):
artists today and I have otherlocal artists who are asking me
hey, pat, you know, um, I knowthat you support local music and
local art and local business.
Can I send you some stuff I'mworking on?
Listen, if you're local, andwhen I say I'm talking about if
you listen to my show or mypodcast.
I'll put it that way, becausein radio, local might mean the
(02:52):
region you're in andbroadcasting from, but in a
podcast world it's wherever youare.
That's the community, that'sthe region.
So I mean, I don't care ifwherever you're listening
Alabama, Texas, could be up inOregon, canada.
Wherever You're working onmusic, you want it played.
(03:12):
Maybe it's not even just music, maybe you do some comedy, I
don't know.
Whatever it is, let me know.
All right, if it's somethingthat would be interesting with
audio, I'd love to hear it, andif it passes the muster, I'd
love to share it with ouraudience.
(03:33):
So please keep that in mind.
Okay, so you're going.
Well, how do I get that to youagain?
That's a very good question,pat Walsh.
Well, I'll tell you what I'mgoing to give you the safe route
(03:55):
right now, and then I'll giveyou the, because I got to keep
you know, I got to remember theexact.
I think it's Pat Walsh orpatatpatspeepscom.
It's either patatpatspeepscomor it's patwalshatpatspeepscom.
But if that doesn't work, if itgets rejected, like no such
(04:17):
thing, I really need to checkinto that.
I probably got a hundred peoplemessaging me right now.
I'll look into that today.
I'm having a meeting about thatas a matter of fact.
But you can send it to Pat atsign, the very important to have
at sign in the pat wall showcom.
All right, if you want something, if you have something that you
(04:40):
would like me to sharemusically or whatever it is any
kind of great audio.
Maybe you're explainingsomething really cool.
Whatever it is, Maybe you justwant I'll tell you what.
Maybe it's a message.
You just want to leave me amessage.
I'll play those too, and we'regoing to talk about Redbox today
(05:02):
on Pat's Peeps 209.
But let's start with the music.
I got two local things.
Well, no, I take that back.
One's local and then the otheris not local but it's new and I
(05:23):
thought I would share that withyou.
So Aaron Lee, who was the bassplayer for YNT great guy, go to
aaronleecom, bass player YNTReally a great guy.
He and I have sort of becomefriends over the years he's been
(05:46):
on my radio show numerous timeshe's got shows.
Oh, whoa, he's going to come toHillenbrand.
When is this?
Oh, this is shoot.
This is Saturday 2 pm.
Aaron Lee at HillenbrandFarmhouse Brewery.
First of all, I love Hillenbrand.
Patrick who owns Hillenbrand.
(06:06):
Patrick is a great dude.
It's a beautiful property outthere, a little mini lake, it's
just, it's gorgeous and he's gota great brewery out there.
And then Aaron Lee, who'sterrific.
I'll be out there.
I need to go to thatValentine's Day.
Aaron is going to be at theEldorado Saloon and Grill,
(06:30):
eldorado Hills, for Valentine'sDay, 9 pm.
You might want to check thatout.
I don't think you're going tobe disappointed.
I think you're going to love it.
And then Saturday March 1st,aaron will be at the Adele's
Family Pizza Awesome place, 7 pm, and that's in Fair Oaks.
(06:50):
So Aaron has a new song.
This is called Everything WillBe Alright.
I'll never forget when Aaroncame on my show initially and he
mentioned he had done a coverof Jewel Eye Judy by Fleetwood
Mac Excuse me.
And I said what?
And he goes what, what, what, what I go.
(07:12):
Oh, I love that song.
The fact is no one really knowsthat song.
You've got to be really intoFleetwood Mac, to know Jewel Eye
, judy, because it comes offtheir album Kiln House.
There are no hits on Kiln House.
There are no hits on kiln house.
(07:34):
It's before stevie nicks andthat you know the, the more
popular version I I guess youwould say it like that the more
commercial version, I should sayof fleawood mac.
But it's the era that I love.
I could play songs off of thatkiln house album that you would
never be, you wouldn't.
You could fool your friendslike who is this?
And they would say I don't knowwho.
(07:54):
That is no clue.
That's fleetwood back.
What?
No, it isn't.
Should I give you a coupleexamples?
See, now, here I'm going to gooff on a tangent, but it's like
anytime I can give an example, why not?
So okay, if you played this foryour friends, and even if they
(08:15):
were Fleetwood Mac fans I'm nottalking about super diehard
Peter Green, bob Welch, you knowthe deep stuff I'm talking
about if they're just basically, you know the, the more
commercial version of FleetwoodMac fans and you play this
particular song.
This is called Blood on theFloor.
Basically, you know the morecommercial version of Fleetwood
Mac fans and you play thisparticular song.
This is called Blood on theFloor.
Blood on the Floor from KilnHouse.
I'm way off topic now but Idon't care.
(08:37):
Real.
Good my world.
It's sad, but true.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Got a date with a
hangman.
I have to leave you.
I shut my door in three timesor more the reason I'm gone.
Yeah, blood on the floor.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Not your soul now.
Would you know that wasfleawood mac.
The days are so long.
That's peeps 209.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
backup singers.
Backup singers.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Yep, that's Fleetwood
Mac.
I like going off on littletangents.
This is July Judy from thatsame album.
I love this beautiful song.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
This is the one that.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Aaron covered.
I'm sorry.
Are you checking out that mix?
Is the singing coming in inyour right ear only?
Like the right earpredominantly, and it builds.
I don't know that most peoplewould even know this is
(11:18):
Fleetwood Mac.
Such a cool tune, though Idon't have the rights to this,
Don't hound me about it.
Come on Exposing the music, forgoodness sake.
(11:39):
Let's see if we can hear AaronLee's version of that.
July Judy.
Listen to what a great job hedoes on this.
Let's see if we can hear AaronLee's version of that.
July Judy, Listen to what agreat job he does on this,
(12:01):
AaronLeecom.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
You can buy his music
there.
Moonshine time thoughts of youSpinning round as thoughts do.
I just wondered if your eyesstill shine as they did when you
were mine.
(12:41):
I can see In a dream Thoughts,so clear, jewels, that gleam.
Would your eyes still sparklethen If we were once again July
(13:05):
today?
Please come home.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Wow, that's great man
.
Honestly, I don't know howthat's not a hit song.
That is just.
That is one of my favoritecovers right there Pat's Peeps
(13:40):
209.
Please check out my friend, aaron Lee YNT.
His band will be coming to ourarea this year as well, but go
check out his solo stuff, man,he is so good.
There's another song that is,like I said, is not local,
national, though People knowthis band very well and I got
(14:15):
this email from a publicist, jody, who wanted to make sure
that I had received this band'sversion of this classic song.
All proceeds from the trackwill be donated to the fire aid
to assist in both short-termrelief efforts, long-term
initiatives to prevent futurefire disasters throughout
(14:36):
southern california.
I could say I hadn't listenedto this yet, but out of
curiosity I listened to probablythe first, I don't know, 30
seconds, maybe 35 seconds, maybesomething like that, 40 seconds
.
Whatever, it's a band I reallylike and I appreciate what they
(15:02):
are doing to help the firerelief efforts to assist in
these efforts.
My only concern, honestly, Imean I get this why they chose
this song, I guess, and from the35 or 40 seconds or whatever I
(15:24):
listened to it, it seemed good.
I guess.
I mean it seemed good, butmaybe it changes the more it
gets into it.
It's three minutes and 10seconds.
My only concern with it is Imean I think the band could have
done, because they haven'treleased anything that I'm aware
of in a long time.
(15:44):
It's a classic rock band andmaybe perhaps they could have
done something original.
All right, so please don't getme wrong.
I'm not ungrateful or anything.
It's just my honest opinion.
Maybe they could have donesomething that was original,
versus covering this, because Idon't honestly know how many
people want to hear this.
(16:05):
I hope that's okay to say it.
I don't know how many peoplepeople want to hear this.
I hope that's okay to say it.
I don't know how many peopleactually want to hear this song
done by this band rather than anew song by them.
Okay, anyhow, you tell me Idon't want them to become like a
cover band, even if it is for arelief effort.
I would personally be morelikely to purchase and again,
(16:29):
maybe I'm wrong, I haven'tlistened to the whole thing but
if it's pretty standard, I wouldbe more likely to purchase it.
And please don't let mediscourage you.
I'm not trying to do that.
Honestly, if it were anoriginal song.
Alright, enough of my preludeto this.
Def Leppard, stand by Me.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
When the night has
come and the land is dark and
the moon is the only light we'llsee.
No, I won't be afraid.
No, I won't be afraid.
(17:27):
No, I won't be afraid, just aslong as you stand, stand by me.
So, darling darling, stand byme.
Oh, stand by me.
Oh, stand now, stand by me.
(17:48):
Oh, stand now, stand by me,stand by me.
If the sky that we look uponShould tumble and fall and the
mountains should crumble to, thesea.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
So really, so far, a
very standard version.
I won't cry.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
I won't cry, no, I
won't shed a tear, just as long
as you stand stand by me.
So, darling darling, stand byme.
So, darling darling, stand byme, oh, stand by me, oh, stand
(18:37):
now.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
So Def Leppard says
that we are very excited to
share our take on Stand by Mefrom Bank of Dave 2, which you
can stream today.
You just go to Def.
I don't know what Bank of Dave2 is, but okay.
Defleppard Link.2 forward slashStand by Me.
(19:04):
Did you have time to jot thatdown?
Forward slash, stand by me.
Did you have time to jot thatdown?
Deflepper, l N K Dot two T O.
Forward slash stand by me.
But again, I hope you understandmy opinion on that.
It's not that I don't like thesong.
(19:32):
I would have loved to hear themdo something that was original,
as I mentioned.
That's all.
That's all.
That's all.
So I mentioned that.
My brother I was talking to mybrother Timothy.
I've never done this on my show, but on my podcast.
It wasn't my show really, butI'm going to do it today because
(19:57):
I'm so proud and excited aboutthis.
My brother Timothy he's myyoungest brother.
You know there's six kids, seven with our stepbrother, Ray.
Rest in peace, raymond Miss you.
But in peace, raymond Miss you.
But there are six kids, fourbrothers, two sisters Myself I'm
the oldest of the clan Thencomes Jim, then Steve, then Tim
(20:23):
this is age-wise and then mysisters, michelle and and
Stephanie, and we're very close.
We all do different things inlife.
Steve could paint your houseand do it better than anyone out
there could do it.
That's why he was so in demand.
He was so talented at that.
(20:44):
I say, was it's just?
He sold his business.
He's not doing that anymore, but he had that business Steve's
Custom Painting and there wasno one better than what he does.
He does other things veryskillful.
He's a very skillful drummer.
My brother, jim, a financialplanner, helped me build a
portfolio Very smart.
(21:05):
They were talking to him aboutbeing like the I don't know, I
don't watch the Bachelor, whatever but he was mentioning
oh, I better not say anything.
He asked me not to mention that.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
And nothing.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Never mind, you
didn't hear that.
You did not hear that they werecalling him from the show the
Bachelor.
You did not hear that from me,please.
My two sisters, michelle, whoruns the Tubac Resort in Tubac,
arizona Wow, you should see herbeautiful resort it is.
It's stunning what she does upthere and she runs this place.
(21:42):
My sister, stephanie, in Cloviswhat a beautiful mother to all
these children Works with mybrother.
Timothy, does incredible thingsworking with my brother.
So we are all doing differentthings.
Of course I do this.
My brother Tim.
That's where I want to get to.
What I'm about to say to youmeans the world to me.
(22:09):
If you are looking to dosomething like this, it would
mean the world to me and to Tim,and to Stephanie, for that
matter.
So my brother Tim has alwaysbeen.
He's a guy that buildscompanies and you know I'm here
to support local business.
I always tell you that this.
(22:30):
I always tell you that Tim hasbuilt several very successful
lending companies, mortgagecompanies, and so, tim, I
promise you I'm not going toturn this into any kind of a
commercial.
I promise You've never heard medo a commercial, but I just
want I have to say this I'm soproud of him and he surprised me
(22:51):
yesterday because we did apodcast regarding his business,
which was going to be separatefrom these podcasts, but I took
this little segment out to shareit with you because he was
telling me, like, this is thebuying season, if you're looking
to buy a home and all this, right, so, just real quickly,
here's what my brother Tim hasdone.
He's built this beautifulbusiness.
(23:11):
It's called AI Lending, it'spowered by Coast to Coast, it's
a national mortgage company andthey specialize in a wide range
of home loan solutions.
Right, this is directly from mybrother, tim, who I trust, and
if you trust me, all I'm askingyou to do is please think about
this.
Just think about this AILending.
(23:31):
This is according to Tim.
They assist first-timehomebuyers, veterans, va loans,
those looking for FHA refinance, reverse mortgage options,
whatever you're looking for inthat regard.
And AI lending's goal is toprovide personalized lending
solutions with innovativetechnology and, they say, making
(23:52):
the mortgage process smootherand more efficient for our
clients, which now are Pat'sPeeps clients.
So I've always promised this toyou that we are going to take
care of local business.
I couldn't be more proud tostart with my brother Tim.
Ai Lending.
Tim Walsh.
(24:13):
I'm not going to do thecommercial, so I'm not even
going to give you the phonenumber and everything right here
.
I am going to post separatelyanother podcast that is meant
just for that.
Okay, so I can never get thetwo confused my regular podcast
and something like that.
But when he surprised me withthis yesterday, I had to share
it with you.
When he surprised me with thisyesterday, I had to share it
(24:35):
with you.
So another one of my businesses,as you probably know, is
conservative tours.
I'm going to the ItalianRiviera with them April,
spending springtime there.
Then I'm going to go to Sicilywith them this fall and I've
been going.
I just got back from Ireland afew months ago with conservative
tours.
I've been to Southern Italywith them.
(24:55):
I've been to Northern.
I just got back from Ireland afew months ago with conservative
tours.
I've been to Southern Italywith them.
I've been to Northern Italy, germany, austria.
I've been to France, d-dayNormandy Beach, the D-Day
beaches in Normandy and beyond.
So as my brother and I aretalking about the virtues of his
business and how they can helpyou, he told me two things and I
(25:19):
said I'm going to.
I'm going to put this out thereright away.
So if you're going to go out toa lender and you're going to
pay what a 700, $800 or whateverfor a, an appraisal or whatever
Two things my brother said Pat,I believe in your business and
your listeners.
They're going to give you yourappraisal feedback and check out
what else he's going to do.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Hey, pat, one other
thing that I wanted to mention
to you that I because it's yourshow, pat's Pete's Group, and I
wanted to make sure that Ididn't talk to you about this in
advance, so I can get yourthoughts and your reaction on it
.
I understand that you're thehost of Conservative Tours.
Yes, and my understanding isyour next trip is to Sicily, I
(25:55):
believe.
Is that correct?
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Actually, yeah, we
just started talking about that.
You were actually going toSicily this fall.
We're going to the ItalianRiviera in April for spring,
yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
That's awesome.
It looks like I made you joinme.
I wanted to share this with you.
So generally, I think it's inOctober, if I'm correct, or
September, october, somethinglike that.
So the next four or five monthsgenerally start in March, april
, may, june, july through August, typically the buying season
(26:29):
for customers wanting to buy ahome so they can get in before
the following the next schoolyear.
What AI Lending wants to do,what we'd like to do, if you're
okay with this, we'd like tohave a drawing Once we fund our
100th loan.
We'd like to have a drawing andput all the names in one
(26:49):
through 100, and we'd like todraw out a name and sponsor and
pay for a trip for one of thecustomers, one of our mutual
customers, pat Peete, and asignificant other.
So we'd like to pay for twofolks to go on the trip.
How's that sound?
Speaker 1 (27:05):
That is incredible.
And you said you might be going.
What do you mean?
You might be going?
Speaker 2 (27:13):
I've heard so many
wonderful things and I get to
see all the pictures that yousend us, so surely we decide
that we're gonna go uh with onthe trip and, oh my god, we'd
like to, we'd like to pay for uhsomebody to join us this is.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
This is an amazing
surprise, tim.
I cannot, I can't believe it.
I that is so generous and kindof you, I mean, you know, if
you're listening to this, well, who else, if you're going to go
to somewhere else to sign withsomeone, I mean, who else is
going to tell you that they'llsend you on one of these
wonderful Pats Peeps trips withconservative tours to, you know,
(27:49):
italy or Ireland or France orGermany or Austria, wherever
we're going, tim that is, Ican't even thank you enough and
the opportunity and again, Imean one in a hundred.
If you're pulling a name out ofthe hat, one in a hundred.
Your odds are pretty good too,and no one else has given you
that incentive and you're mybrother and I trust you and to
travel with you and Charlene, your beautiful wife I mean, this
(28:14):
was my great sister-in-law.
It doesn't get.
I have the best sister-in-laws.
This just made my day and thankyou, tim.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Well, you're welcome.
I was excited to let you knowthat and we're excited to
partner with Pat's, pete's and,of course, my brother, hugh, and
we're excited, we're lookingforward to and not to mention,
as we discussed earlier, I think, in the show that at funding
for Pat's Peaks we're going torefund the appraisal fee at
(28:41):
funding, and so not just thetrip but we're going to refund
the appraisal fee as well.
We appreciate, of course, youand we're looking forward to a
very fun and productive uhrelationship with that speech.
Oh, this is beautiful thank youfor uh having me on.
Thanks for uh your time andeverybody's time today love your
(29:02):
brother.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
Thank you, ai lending
.
Can you believe that?
I couldn't believe it, so thatmade me very excited.
Thanks for allowing me to playthat.
You know I don't usually dothat.
I don't ever do that on my thispodcast.
I'm going to put the entirepodcast with my brother and his
team on our webpage.
You will see the logo with hisphoto, and so all I'm asking you
(29:25):
is that, if you are, you know,if you're looking, if you're
going to buy a home during thisperiod of time and you're
looking for that lender, I wouldbe beyond grateful if you would
talk to AI Lending and mybrother, tim, and I'll give you
all the information in thatpodcast, which will be up by
Friday, okay, but you can stilllook them up.
(29:48):
Ai Lending, tim Walsh he's agood guy.
I don't know.
We're very compassionate aboutpeople.
Honest to God.
I don't know where that comesfrom, but I guess that's what
you're supposed to be.
So, anyhow, going on one ofthese trips with us, we pull
your name out of the hat andthen you get your appraisal
(30:10):
feedback.
So thank you, tim, for doingthat.
Let's see.
Let's wrap it up with this.
You know, I pulled this recordout yesterday from my rare
record collection.
It's in a picture sleeve and Idon't know this artist, so you
and I are going to listen tothis together.
(30:31):
Maybe you are well aware ofthis artist and I'm just the one
that doesn't know.
It's on Sire Records.
More about that, but first itreminded me of when I saw the
name of the artist.
It reminded me of somethingelse that we've had in our
culture, which I guess we stilldo Redbox.
(30:56):
Anyone know the band, theartist, redbox First thing I
thought of, of course, you know, there was Blockbuster Video,
and then came Redbox, the videorental and now streaming media
company.
Based out of Oak Brook Terrace, illinois.
(31:16):
They specialized we allprobably remember in automated
DVD rental kiosks.
You go up to the store, be inthe store, bam, you got the red
box.
You go through, you search themovies and then the thing would
drop out of the box.
They operated transactional andad-supported streaming video
(31:37):
and television services.
From 2022 until its liquidation, redbox was a wholly owned
subsidiary of Chicken Soup forthe Soul, entertainment for the
soul entertainment.
So these Redbox kiosks theyrented and sold films on DVD and
(31:59):
Blu-ray.
They were, like I say, locatedin the retail stores.
They included conveniencestores, supermarkets is where I
always saw them pharmacies.
And at their peak in the early2010s, the company operated
kiosks in more than 34,000locations, controlled more than
half of the US DVD rental market.
But of course, here comestechnology.
(32:24):
No one even wants to go to thestore to get their video, they
can just get it right there fromthe TV.
So in June of last year, chicken Soup for the Soul
Entertainment filed for Chapter11 bankruptcy and then in July
their case was converted toChapter 7 liquidation.
As part of the ongoingliquidation proceedings,
(32:47):
redbox's online streamingservices and mobile app ceased
to function in July of last year.
So that's what it reminded meof.
Redbox is also a band, a Britishpop group founded by Simon
Tolson Clark and Julian Close.
(33:09):
This band was active from theearly 80s to the present day and
scored a couple of UK top 10hits with the singles Lean On Me
, lean On Me.
What is that the same?
What is that?
The classic in 85, speaking ofrecovering classics and then 85
(33:29):
for America, 1986, both of whichwere included on their debut
album, the Circle in the Square.
Redbox returned briefly in 1990with a single Train and the
second album, motive, and againin 2010 with a third album,
plenty, released in October of2010.
(33:50):
Well, this one.
When did this come out?
This one came out, let's seehere.
Let me look at the album.
Let me look at the actualrecord.
It's on Sire Records Boy.
It's in mint condition, just alittle dusty 1987, this came out
(34:13):
on sire uh, this is from tryingto figure out what record this
came from.
Anyhow, yellow record, yellowlabel, that's.
That's sire.
It's got their classic logo onthat and this is the same song
on both sides.
(34:34):
And it is both the stereo.
It's in stereo, it's not mono.
So let's just play this thing.
I don't know anything about it.
Maybe, if I listen to it, I'llgo yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember
this, maybe you will.
So this is called I'm not evengoing to get this right Chenko,
(34:59):
chenko, c-h-e-n-k-o Chenko, and,in parentheses, tenkaio Remix
Says aside too would have been asong called Speeches, but
that's not the case here becauseit's a very rare record dj
promo.
So this is same song both sides.
(35:19):
All right, let's listen.
I don't know this song let's govery epic, I'm remembering very
(35:49):
vividly why I wasn't a big fanof a lot of 80s music right now,
and fire forever.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
And now we all.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
Okay, all right.
Very 80s right there, that'snot bad.
One-sided Very 80s right there, that's not bad, it's not great.
What do you think?
Can someone tell me what thatmeans, please?
(36:55):
That is 80s to the max.
Gnarly, that is rad.
Thank you for listening, myfriends.
I appreciate you so much.
Pat's Peeps 209.
