Volt 2-6 (00:01):
Here's something to think about when you're crafting
your resume or preparing foryour job interview or
interviewing.
What do you think the balance isbetween your past, your present
in your future, in terms of whatthe employer that you've applied
to, who you're interviewing withwhat they care about most they
care most about your past.

(00:23):
Well, you would think so that'swhat the resume is.
It's all in the past, but reallyapplying that to what their
needs are.
That's the future.
And that's what they're mostconcerned about tomorrow.
What you can do for them.
Tomorrow.
So when you focus on what you'vedone in your conversation with
them, That's good.

(00:43):
They need to know that.
But if you can.
Create a thread that then bringsthat conversation.
Into what you can do for them inthe future, how you can guide
them, how you can help them.
Avoid pain go the rightdirection.
What they want with the skillsthat you've developed in the
past.

(01:04):
But then guide to the future.
That's when you will create animpact for them.
That's when you've painted apicture of what the future looks
like with you, them getting moreof what they want.
More good things, less paint.
If you are a CPA, maybe it'smore clients or fewer mistakes.
If you're in marketing, maybeit's a more sales.

(01:26):
It could be a ton of differentthings.
So think about what do you do?
What does this company want withthis job that you've applied
for?
What's their goal?
Because they're thinking aboutthe future.
Unless you are a historian oryou work at a museum.
Or something along those lines.
You should be focused less onthe past and more in the future.

(01:48):
A mistake I frequently see ispeople wanting to recite their
resume.
What they've done.
Those are important.
Those qualifications arenecessary, but your ability to
apply what, you know, what youknow, how to do.
To the future.
That's why the company is hiringyou.
They're not hiring you to go dothe things that you did two

(02:09):
years ago, two years ago.
They want you to take whatyou've learned two years ago and
apply that to their currentproblem, their current
initiative.
So shift your thinking aroundthese things, to what it is that
they want, what they need fromyou.
And it will make a big impact.
On their perception of how youcan solve their problems.

(02:31):
And if you can solve theirproblems, they're going to want
you on board.
And hopefully soon, how do theyget you soon?
That's by making a great.

matter where you are, maybeyou're currently employed and
