Speaker 1 (00:07):
Thank you very much.
(00:36):
Welcome back to the All PurposePod for an all-purpose life.
Wherever you are and howeveryou're listening Today call me
Mr you, you and the inspirationstation, and thanks again for
making us part of your week, pretty excited about this
particular episode for severalreasons.
I'm kind of giddy about it, ben.
She's so awesome man.
I entitled this the best storyever because in my mind I said
(01:00):
exactly what this is.
But we'll get to that onetoward the end of the episode.
I want to kind of set the tablefor this a little bit.
This is, but we'll get to thatone toward the end of the
episode.
I want to kind of set the tablefor this a little bit.
This is a scripture and I wantto give you this up front.
So you have it.
You can look at it, review it,kind of walk through it a little
bit.
But Matthew, chapter 13, verse58.
This is one of those scriptureswhere you walk away with more
(01:23):
questions than you do answers, and scripture has a lot of that
kind of impact on us becausethere's a lot that we don't
understand and so our mind is inthis kingdom as opposed to the
kingdom that we are supposed tobe paying attention to and
investing in.
But matthew 13 and 58 saysjesus did not do many mighty
works there in Nazareth, hishometown, because of their
(01:46):
unbelief.
Now it sounds as though Jesusmade a choice.
You know what I can do miracles.
I've turned water into wine.
I can do miracles.
But in this place, in mychildhood, the place where
everybody is familiar with me,I'm not going to do any miracles
(02:08):
here.
Some folks may say you knowwhat?
Because of the level of theirunbelief, miracles were
ineffective in this location.
Maybe it's a combination ofboth.
I'll let you decide that.
Hit me up in the commentssection.
Let me know which one you thinkit is.
Do you think that Jesus couldnot do miracles there, in his
(02:29):
location, because of theunbelief, or he chose not to
because of the level of unbeliefin this place that he grew up
in?
Let that be our main scripturefor today.
I want you to hold on to thatone.
We're going to get into why Ithink this is so awesome.
Next point you know I've beendealing a lot with how people
(02:50):
perceive you and I think this isimportant because if you go on
social media, if I ask certainquestions, it's almost like bait
.
I know how they're going toanswer, because it's the same
mindset over and over again.
A lot of times it's beenregurgitated over and over again
.
People say I don't care whatpeople think, it's their
favorite line.
I don't care what people thinkyou do, and it matters.
(03:16):
You can you can, uh, hide behindthe emotional wall, but it
matters to you what people think.
You want to feel like you makean impact in people's lives.
You want to feel like you'remaking an impact in people's
lives.
You want to feel as thoughyou're doing something that's of
value for other people.
So how your family and yourfriends perceive you, it does
matter.
Even in that scripture itmattered to Jesus because it
determined what he was going tobe able to do and how much he
(03:39):
could open up and give and shareto others, how they thought of
him.
And one thing that I think ispowerful in this is that we deal
with some of the same things, but do we deal with it in the
right way, in the most positiveway, in the most healthy way?
I know people who are myrelatives, and often I mean I
(04:02):
don't use the term black sheepbecause I don't think it's
indicative of what my life isactually like.
But I feel as though people putyou in a category.
They kind of decide how highyou can go.
They kind of cap yourtrajectory in life, how high you
can go, what you can achieve.
People look at where you camefrom and determine whether you
(04:26):
are good enough.
I've come from a place that Imean.
Right now the borough looksfantastic because it's
gentrified, but when I wasgrowing up it was one of the
most dangerous boroughs in theentire world, much less in the
city.
It wasn't safe.
In a lot of ways it wasperilous living to grow up in
(04:47):
this neighborhood or grow up inthis borough, but I did that.
Thank God, I came out of it.
I had scrapes and issues andchallenges, like everybody else
mid-death experiences, you nameit.
I've been through it but I cameout of it.
But people will look at okay, Icame from here and they will
decide about me.
I had people in job interviewsdecide about me because I came
(05:08):
from Brooklyn.
I had Brooklyn as my hometownor my address and they decided
whether I could work for them ornot because of where I came
from, their view of that place, what they heard about Brooklyn,
and then on top of that, youknow I can make matters worse
right the way I talk.
I talk fast, sometimes I talkwith my hands.
(05:29):
It's intimidating.
People get scared when I talkwith my hands.
So mirror that with their ownideas about where you come from
and who you are as a person.
Perhaps even the color of myskin might play a part in that.
I don't want it to, but hey, itmight Mirror by their own
(05:51):
self-image, by their own ideasof who they are as people.
Add that all together and yougot a cocktail of nothing's
happening.
So you got people who arefamiliar with you and you can
apply this to your familymembers.
I guess I'm trying to rememberthat there's just nothing
(06:14):
happening.
There's nothing.
There's no love, there's nocompassion, there's nothing
there.
It's just a dead zone.
A dead zone for love and familypride and enjoyments and
togetherness.
It's a dead zone.
Nothing's happening there.
Maybe you guys can relate.
Love to hear you guys' storieson our social media platforms,
(06:36):
in the comments section on ourYouTube channel.
If you feel free to share it,love to hear it.
But even in your friendships, even in your regular
relationships, people getfamiliar with you and there's an
old saying familiarity breedscontempt and people start
tapping off your trajectory andhow high you can go, deciding
what you can do, what you can'tdo, what you can do in this
(06:58):
ministry, what you can do inthis corporate organization,
what you can do, what you can'tdo, what you can do in this
ministry, what you can do inthis corporate organization,
what you can do on this job, what you can do in this
community, what you can do inthis friendship circle.
People start deciding stuff foryou because of their perception
of you.
They say can anything good comeout of Nazareth?
Can anything good come out ofBrooklyn?
(07:20):
Can anything good come out ofNazareth?
Can anything good come out ofBrooklyn?
Can anything good come out ofCharleston?
That's the epitome of them notletting you be great.
I want to let you be great.
This is what I believe Jesusfaced in Matthew 13, 58.
(07:40):
Chapter 13, verse 58, to beclear they looked at where he
was.
Did we grow up with him?
Don't we know his mother andfather and his brothers and
sisters?
Didn't we watch how they grewup?
Didn't we see how they lived, what kind of house they lived in
?
How'd he become so great and soeducated and so insightful and
(08:06):
so wise?
Where did he learn?
He went to the same schools wewent to and we didn't learn this
.
How did he learn it?
Whose feet did he sit at to getthis understanding and this
knowledge?
We've been here the whole timeand we've never seen this.
People perceive you in a certainway, and you know what.
(08:26):
Honestly, nothing you can doabout that.
You can't change people's minds.
You can't try to make them likeyou.
You can try, but it ain't gonnawork.
But you can try, though nothingbut a temporary piece of
band-aid, if you will.
It ain't going to work.
But you can try, though it'snothing but a temporary piece of
Band-Aid, if you will.
It ain't going to work.
Are people going to thinkthings about you?
(08:47):
I'll be honest with you.
People who are watching thisshow that follow what we've been
doing for the past five years, almost I'm positive they have a
perception of who I am, who theythink I am.
How do you think I'll respond?
What they think I like?
(09:08):
What do you think I like to eat?
What kind of car do you think Iwould like to drive?
It's crazy.
Let's get into the story.
(09:28):
One weekend, pretty recently, Iwas at a service.
It was supposed to be aleadership service, a service
where the potential for miracleswere going to happen, and I
love this because not only wasit a potential for miracles, but
miracles actually happened.
I got four people.
(09:49):
I got three folks that I knowfriends of mine Friends of mine
heard what I said now, actualfriends of mine that received
outstanding miracles.
I'm telling you this because, okay, let me preface this by
letting you know there's ahistory and there's a precedent
for what I'm getting ready totell you.
Our youngest daughter and shecan attest to this she was born
(10:11):
with one leg shorter than theother.
She'll tell you this story andshe was being prayed for Her
mother and some others werepraying for her, and her leg
grew back to full size.
She doesn't walk with a limp, there's no unevenness in her leg
(10:31):
size.
They're actually both straightand it happened right on the
table, right in front of oureyes.
That's the precedence.
We're at this service and I gotthree friends with the same
situation as our youngestdaughter One leg shorter than
(10:52):
the other, hips being disjointed, causing there to be an
unevenness.
One limb shorter than the other, hips being disjointed, causing
them to be uneven, one limbshorter than the other, walking
with a limp.
All three of them.
In the course of this two hourservice, legs grew back to the
correct size.
And not only did that miraclehappen right before our eyes,
(11:12):
it's on video.
It's on my Facebook page, matter of fact.
It may be on my YouTube channel, not sure, but it it's on my
Facebook page, matter of fact.
It may be on my YouTube channel, not sure, but it's definitely
on my Facebook page, where youcan see the actual limb growing
out to size.
I can go ahead and try to ampit up and make it more than what
it is, but I don't have toActual miracles taking place,
(11:35):
the same kind of miracles Jesuswanted to do in his hometown,
but they wouldn't let him.
I'm going to end the story withthis.
The video speaks for itself.
Nothing I can ask.
This is actually a testimonyalso of one of my friends, also
on Facebook and Instagram.
I'll just say this While thiswas happening, people who I know
(11:55):
personally for nine, 10, 12years some of them watching this
happen faces like stone, refusing to accept what was
taking place right in front oftheir eyes, refusing to believe
it.
Something in their heartswouldn't let them believe what
(12:16):
they were seeing.
I truly believe that's whatJesus saw.
He said you know what, becauseof the unbelief, you can't do
any mighty works here.
These people who I've known foryears they've been wanting
miracles in their own lives foryears had a chance to have that.
If only they just believedenough to accept that God is
(12:41):
still in the miracle workingbusiness.
But they couldn't do it andthey walked out not believing.
They walked out confounded.
They walked out without fullybeing persuaded that God can
still do miracles.
Even if you don't believe that,it's up to you.
This is my show and I believethat this is what I talk about
and this is what I saw.
(13:01):
My Facebook page isverification of what I saw, and
what I saw about my daughter'slife is also verification.
This is the real thing.
This is really happening.
Y'all you can be stone-facedabout it if you want to.
You can refuse to believe ifyou want to, but it really
happens.
It's a real thing.
And guess what?
I was a living witness and I'mso, so grateful.
I was Wherever you are andhowever you're listening today.
(13:23):
Call me Mr U in the InspirationStation.
Thanks again for making us partof your week.
God is still in a miracleworking business.
Hallelujah, thank you.
