The Washington Commanders surprised everyone with last year's 12-5 record, building around rookie QB Jaden Daniels with one-year contracts that paid off tremendously. We analyze how the Commanders can sustain this success through strategic draft picks that address their defensive needs.

• Commanders acquired Deebo Samuel from the 49ers and Laramie Tunsell from the Texans to bolster the offense
• Zach Ertz returns at tight end after establishing strong chemistry with Daniels
• Bobby Wagner and Javon Kinlaw strengthen the defense, but the departure of Dante Fowler Jr. leaves a hole in pass rush

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Welcome back to T3.
I'm your host, mr U.
Normally we are on, of course, every Thursday night at 7 pm EST
.
Our crew is talking NFL themajority of the time, but all
sports, but mainly NFL.
But we're doing a series ofmock drafts out of our T3 brand
and today's team is theWashington Commanders.

(00:42):
They are the rivals in the NFCEast for our New York football
giants, who we love dearly.
But credit where credit is due, man, the Washington Commanders.
They came out smoking last year.
They basically bet with housemoney, with a lot of the moves
that they made, a lot of guys onone-year deals and kind of just
stacking the deck to giveDaniels all the help that he can

(01:03):
get, and he capitalized on it,set multiple rookie records last
year 12-5.
They were in second place anddefinitely were almost a threat
to do what many thought wasimpossible and almost get into
the NFC title game.
But it was not to be Fantasticteam nonetheless.

(01:26):
They may not have a lot ofneeds on paper, but a lot of
guys again are on one year.
So you got to replace thoseguys or bring them back.
I believe Bobby Wagner was oneof those guys.
They are definitely bringinghim back into the fold, from
what I'm understanding.
I don't see the numbers rightin front of me, but definitely
they're making some moves.
They brought in Deebo Samuelfrom the 49ers Big boost

(01:48):
alongside Terry McLaurin to helpout Daniels in that offense and
of course Laramie Tunsell upfront out of the Houston Texans.
He had some up and down seasonsin Houston but obviously he's,
I'd probably say, a lot morehappier than CJ Shroud is right
now because Tunstall's there.
So they brought Zach Ertz backto help out also.

(02:12):
He definitely had a resurgenceat tight end, which I'm glad to
see.
He was on the Cardinals and theEagles prior to that.
But he's done a great job withthe Commanders.
I'm sure Jaden Daniels loveshim a lot.
So do the commanders.
I'm sure Jaden Daniels loveshim a lot.
So does the fans.
They brought in Javon Kinlawfrom the Niners I believe it is
no, from the Jets, excuse me andsome other bodies coming in too

(02:35):
.
And there's some guys that theybrought in that didn't do a lot
of work.
Marshawn Lattimore from theSaints came in with a lot of
experience, but from the SaintsCame in with a lot of experience
but he didn't meet teamexpectations.
I think he contributed to oneof the worst passer ratings
they've had in quite a while.
So it wasn't great.
But they also lost Dante FowlerJr, which was their main pass

(02:58):
rusher.
So today we're going to try tohelp out with a few rounds here
for the Washington Commanders, and I know definitely I'm
looking at Ed Rusher first.
I got a guy in mind.
I know it helps them.
I know that in helping them itdoesn't help our Giants, but
we're doing a draft and we'rebeing impartial for the
Washington Commanders so we cango ahead and help this team out

(03:19):
with some needs that they have.
And we got the Commanders setand ready to roll.
They have, wow, two picks 29and 61.
It's going to be a short mockdraft.
I'm going to get the guys thatwe need.
So we're not, definitely nottrading back.
It's not on that pick.
Anyways, I might trade back onthe last one and get some, uh,
additional help here.

(03:39):
Ooh, chargers are off in 55-86.
I miss out on the guy I thinkis still available, so I don't
want to do that.
Oh, he got taken right beforeme.
This thing must have read mymind.
I knew what I was going after.
We're going for DonovanAzurical.
Wow, that sucks.

(03:59):
But guess what?
We're still on track becausethis guy right here we're
grabbing him a little bit earlybut I'm surprised he's been
still here at 37.
I'm going to take him at 29 forthe commanders Mike Green, adam
Marshall, fantastic edge rusherguy All of the sides.
You want 63, 251,.
He's a beast If he has purepass rush skills, man.

(04:23):
I mean he's explosive agile.
I mean he's the kind of guythat you know he had 15 sack
seasons in five sack years, or Iguess that's what his ability
is, what he thinks he can doSome issues with consistency.
But I think that the coaches atWashington can help him resolve

(04:44):
some of those things.
He definitely has the effort.
We're going to bring him in man.
It's going to help out thecommanders immediately because
we only have one pick left.
Unless the trade is really good,I'm going to stay at cornerback
or on defensive tackle.
I think that they have someopportunities for their
defensive line.
I know they just brought inJavon Kinlaw so that may solve

(05:05):
some of those things.
Alongside Deron Payne, dorisArmstrong is an edge or
defensive end that came fromDallas.
I haven't seen a whole lot ofhim.
Last year Cleveland Ferrell wasthere too, from San Fran, so
they got guys that can help out.
Bobby Wagner's back.
Frankie Louvre, who wasdefinitely a find last year from

(05:29):
Carolina.
That man played linebacker.
Better not see anybody do inquite a long time.
So I'm excited about this.
I like this grade a little bit61 for a 73 and a 110.
I think I'm going to take it.
I'm going to try to help thisteam out.
I'm going to take this tradehere and see if I can try to
help out.
No, we're not going to do that.

(05:49):
All right, so here we are.
We already got Edge taken careof.
I believe I don't think we needto do anything else there.
We're going to go ahead.
Where's my pick?
Oh, wow, I might have justmessed over the uh, the
commanders.
I didn't mean to.
I thought I had two picks, allright.
So let's look at defensivetackle.

(06:12):
Oh, I love alfred collins.
Uh, definitely a great rundefender.
There's some issues on pat onpass rush'm going to leave that
to coaching.
6'5" 332.
He has all the tools out ofTexas.
He definitely helped Texas goas far as it did last year.
Has all the tools.
I mean, he's fierce as adefender.

(06:36):
I like him here.
I'm not super enthusiastic, butI like him here.
I like him a lot better thanwhat I have in front of me.
I'm already knocked out.
Mike Green and Alfred Collinsthese guys, the commanders, have
so many good things going on asfar as depth and guys that are

(06:59):
still in the contract, theydon't need a whole lot of help.
I'll try to help them a littlebit with Mike Green out of
Marshall at Edge and then AlfredCollins out of Texas Two great
names, definitely two top 50players for sure.
So I think this helps them outgreatly.
Let me know what you think aboutthe mock draft.
I know I botched that thirdpick my bad on that one but let
me know what you think.
Did Mike Green and AlfredCollins make this mock draft a

(07:23):
positive A draft?
Collins, make this mock draft apositive a draft?
Let me know what you thinkabout that.
I'd love to hear back from youon your thoughts on that and if
you are checking us out on ourYouTube channel, please like,
share, subscribe while you'rethere and drop that draft grade
in the comments.
Let me know what you thinkabout what we did with Mike
Green and Alfred Collins for theWashington Commanders.
Thanks for continuing to watchand continuing to listen.
Many more mock drafts coming up.

(07:43):
We got to finish all 32.
We we're close, but not quitethere yet.
Keep watching.
