coming from you guys and whatyou're seeing and hearing and
what you're enjoying.
Our podcast channel is growingin so many different ways and
you guys are a big part of that,so we thank you again for
continuing to support what we do.
I want to get back with you guys.
It's been quite a while betweenepisodes of the Inspiration
Station.
A lot going on, but nothing tolament about.
(01:22):
It's all good, just lifehappening, life be life
sometimes.
But I want to talk to you abouta topic that we talk about all
the time and that's purpose.
Here's a question for you Areyou living with purpose right
now?
Have you found what purpose isfor you?
A lot of folks may say yes realquick without thinking about it
, but I found it to be aquestion worth asking and
(01:45):
sometimes I have to ask it morethan once to myself.
I had to ask it more than justonce a year.
I have to ask myself thatquestion, because living with
purpose is one thing.
Locating purpose is always alot more challenging.
It's difficult, so difficult,in fact, that most of us have
given up on the quest.
(02:06):
We've given up trying to evenfind it.
Now you may sit here and say, well, that's not me.
I'm doing this job.
I've been at this job for 30years, I'm doing, I'm in this
project.
I've been doing this projectfor 10 years and I'm having fun,
I'm enjoying myself, all thosethings.
Nothing wrong with any of thosethings.
Nothing wrong with having astable job and being at a place
or company for a long period oftime and retiring from there.
(02:28):
Nothing wrong with that.
That's what you want to do.
Nothing wrong with having aproject that you really enjoy,
giving you a chance to networkand meet people.
Nothing wrong with that either.
None of those thingsautomatically equate to purpose.
Automatically equate to purpose.
I think that's important tounderstand here, because purpose
(02:48):
in this sense is what you weremade for, what you were born for
.
A lot of folks that I've talkedto and maybe you know somebody
who's just like that they'rejust here and they often aim
around mindlessly, not evenknowing where they're going,
what's next?
They don't have a 5, 10, or20-year plan.
(03:09):
They just want to get throughthe week and get to the weekend
so they can have fun and enjoythemselves and forget all about
Monday through Friday.
Most folks have that kind ofmindset.
But that's not living withpurpose.
That's kind of leavingeverything to chance.
It's not living with purpose.
Not living with purpose, that'skind of leaving everything to
chance.
It's not living with purpose.
(03:31):
Jeremiah 1 and 5 talks about aprophet who was known by god
even before he was even born.
While he was in the womb hisdestiny was made clear, his
destiny was made certain.
He was known and thought ofbefore he was even born.
I think the idea that it's hardfor many of us to swallow, but
the idea of being known is whatwe all want, even if it's the
most challenging thing for manyof us to swallow.
But the idea of being known iswhat we all want, even if it's
the most challenging thing formany of us.
We all want to be known.
We all want to walk in somekind of relevance in our life,
(03:54):
which is why we do the thingsthat we do.
It's why we choose some of thealternatives that we choose.
We choose a lot of differentalternatives from what our
purpose is or what purpose canbe for us.
We find cool things to do,ideas that make people look at
us like we're smart, like we'recapable.
Maybe they'll see us as special.
(04:14):
But they all and they all soundkind of harmless.
You say, yeah, it's fun, no bigdeal, I'm doing something I
enjoy, makes me feel, at leasttemporarily, so we think it's
harmless, no big deal to it.
But there is kind of oneproblem, though.
There's one harmful result inthat you might stop looking for
(04:35):
your authentic purpose.
I mean it's not hard.
I mean we've all done it,present company included.
We do things that we enjoy, things that people say, oh,
you're so good at that.
My thing back in the day was mysinging.
I was able to be gifted to singat a very early age and people
(04:59):
thought you know what that'sgoing to be your thing, that's
what you should do.
Another thing was writing.
I did it also at a very, veryearly age, way earlier than most
kids at that age would bewriting.
I was writing things and peoplethought you know what?
This is what you should bedoing, and they tried to push
towards that.
They tried to encourage me, andI'm sure they were
(05:23):
well-intentioned, but they tryto encourage me to go that route
because, hey, you're so good atthat, go and do that, you know.
But question, though, formyself was was singing and
writing my purpose, ie thereason why I'm here, why I was
born, the destiny that wascrafted when I was in my
mother's womb is just what I'msupposed to be doing.
You can be talented at manydifferent things.
It doesn't mean that it's yourpurpose.
(05:44):
It doesn't mean that you putall your eggs into that one
basket and many of us do thatall the time and we stop looking
for our purpose and we stopseeking the creator as his
creation to find out what it iswe're supposed to be doing
primarily, where we should beinvesting the majority of our
efforts.
We don't do that.
We stop looking because wefound something that feels good,
(06:06):
makes us look smart, makes uslook capable.
People think that we're specialat it and they pat us on the
back and we look at that asvalidation for why we're doing
it.
So we continue to keep doing soand we, in effect, stop looking
for that purpose.
What's your story?
What have you sacrificed infavor of a lesser option?
(06:29):
What have you given up in orderto be able to do what you're
doing right now?
Are you fearful of what thatactual purpose could be?
Do you even know why you'reeven here?
Does that matter to you at thisstage of your life?
A lot of folks don't even care.
They're like I'm just here, Iworry about the next thing later
(06:50):
on, but right now, I'm going tojust do me and just live and
enjoy myself where I am, andthat's many people's story.
But what's your story?
Where I am, and that's manypeople's story.
But what's your story?
What have you sacrificed infavor of in order to have the
option that you have right now?
Is it a lesser option than whatyou hope for yourself and what
you thought you'd be doing atthis stage of your life?
(07:10):
Is it below the bar that youset for yourself?
The standard you set foryourself?
Is it high above what you everimagined?
And if so, is that the pinnacle?
Is that where you alwaysthought yourself that you'd be?
Is that where you saw yourself?
Is that what you always wanted?
Is there a part of you that'ssaying you know what?
(07:31):
Inside of me there's more.
There's more than what I'mseeing right, and there's more
than what's going on around me,more than what my circumstances
are speaking to me.
There's more than that.
Honestly, I believe that everysingle person that's walking
around on the face of the earthhas a purpose in this life and I
(07:51):
really believe that if we holdourselves off to that, we could
potentially lose the desire tofind out what that is and settle
for an alternative.
Now you got to ask yourselfwhat's the alternative you
settled for?
What is it that you've acceptedas your norm, as your thing, as
your jam?
(08:12):
But it's not exactly the quoteunquote purpose.
You're supposed to be walkingin the way that you're supposed
to be walking in the way thatyou're supposed to be living and
putting all your efforts intothat thing, because, at the end
of the day, I think that what wedo every day we wake up.
If we're blessed enough to wakeup the next morning and see a
(08:33):
brand new day a lot of us aretaking a gamble.
We're saying you know what?
I'm going to go ahead and beton this working for me, even
though I'm not totally confidentin it.
I don't know whether this is mylong-term thing.
I'm just going for it and justsee what happens.
That's the epitome of gamblingshooting the dice and hoping you
(08:55):
don't get snake eyes.
That's what we do almost everysingle day of our lives, many of
us.
Every single day, we just gotake the gamble, we take the
bait and we set up for somethingthat's an alternative that
looks good, feels good, soundsgood, but long-term it's not
good for us.
This conversation can go on to alot of different places, but I
(09:16):
just want to just drop thatlittle quick thought for you
guys in this episode and we cantalk about it further offline or
on perhaps another episode ofthe Inspiration Station.
But thank you again forlistening to our show.
Thank you again for supportingus on our YouTube channel and
all the listening platforms.
Definitely appreciate all thesupport.
Continue to keep listening.
A lot of big changes coming ourway down the pike here.
(09:37):
But thanks again for listeningagain and we hope that this was
a blessing to you, made youthink a little bit, give some
ideas about some things you cando differently, some adjustments
you can make and perhaps, maybethat fire to find out who you
are, who you're supposed to be,where you should be, is still
lit.
I hope it is.
Have have a great day.
(09:57):
Thanks again for listeningCoach out.
