Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to
Transformative Living Radio,
where we explore the power ofintentional change for personal
growth and fulfillment.
I'm Andre Flax, your host andcertified life and leadership
coach.
Today's episode is all abouttwo of the most powerful words
you'll ever speak.
I am Now.
You might be thinking.
Really two words, but stay withme, because these two simple
(00:25):
words are like seeds what yousay after I am creates the
reality you live in.
Inspired by David Allen'stransformative book the Power of
I Am, we're exploring how theidentities we claim with those
two little words can eitherbuild the life we want or
quietly hold us back from it.
(00:46):
So if you're ready, let's begin.
Hello and welcome to anotherepisode of Transformative Living
Radio.
I'm Andre Flax, your host andcertified life and leadership
coach.
Let me ask you something.
Have you ever looked into themirror and said something to
yourself that stung just alittle bit too much?
(01:07):
Things like I'm not good enough, or I'm a failure, or I'm
broken?
If you've ever whispered thosewords, whether in pain,
frustration or defeat, you'renot alone.
You see, we've all carriedinvisible labels.
We didn't choose absorbingjudgments from others and
echoing them as if they were thetruth.
(01:28):
But what if I told you that youhave the power to rewrite those
labels, that you could use thesame two words I am to redefine
who you are and who you'rebecoming.
Find who you are and who you'rebecoming.
In today's episode, we're divingdeep into the life-changing
ideas behind David Allen'spowerful book the Power of I Am.
(01:51):
Now, this isn't about hype orsurface-level affirmations.
It's about stepping into yourtruest identity and reshaping
your life from the inside out.
Now we're going to break thisepisode down into five parts
Part one, why the words I amshape your identity and outcomes
(02:12):
.
Part two, how negative I am.
Statements quietly limit yourlife.
Part three, how to rewrite yourown personal narrative.
Part four, how daily I amrituals reinforce your new
identity.
And finally, part five, how tocreate your own I am manifesto
for life and leadership.
(02:34):
Let's dig in Now.
The two words I am isn't just aphrase.
It's a command to your brainand your subconscious mind.
It's the blueprint you'reconstantly handing to your
identity.
David Allen shares that.
What follows I am becomes aninternal script.
Whether you're aware of it ornot, that script is guiding how
(02:56):
you think, how you act and howyou react and show up in the
world.
And here's the science behindit.
The brain wants congruency.
Once it accepts a belief, especially a belief about you,
it will filter the world tomatch that belief.
That's why when you say I'manxious, your body reacts
(03:19):
accordingly.
When you say I'm capable, yourconfidence responds.
You see, every I am statementis like a seed.
So the question becomes whatare you planting?
Now, most people don't realizehow often they're planting weeds
instead of flowers.
You hear people say I'm badwith people, or I'm just unlucky
(03:44):
, or I'm not smart enough, I'mtoo old to change, or I'm not
worthy.
These statements oftenmasquerade as facts, but they're
not.
They're beliefs, stories we'vepicked up from past failures,
harsh voices or painful moments, and the more we repeat them,
(04:06):
the more permanent they feel.
But just because you repeatsomething over and over again
doesn't mean it's true.
One of the biggestbreakthroughs that you can
experience is to realize thatmost of the limiting beliefs
that you have started as someoneelse's opinion and you've
unknowingly adopted them asidentity.
(04:26):
But that can stop right now.
This is where thetransformation begins.
You see, if a negative I amstatement creates your
limitations, the new I amstatement can create your
freedom.
But it's not a fake.
It till you make it kind of way.
It's a grounded and authenticway that honors your potential.
(04:51):
David Allen recommends usingbridge statements, language that
reflects growth, not perfection.
So, instead of saying I'mfearless when you don't feel
that way, say I'm learning toact in spite of my fear.
Instead of saying I'msuccessful when you're
struggling financially, say I'mbecoming someone who creates
(05:11):
abundance.
Let me give you a quickexercise Write down three
negative I am beliefs that keepshowing up in your life.
Three negative I am beliefsthat keep showing up in your
life.
For each one, write a newstatement that feels true and
empowering.
Speak those new truths intoyour life daily.
This simple shift has the powerto change the way you feel,
(05:32):
think and show up in everydaylife.
Now, your beliefs aren't builtin a moment.
They're built throughrepetition.
That's why incorporating dailyI Am rituals is one of the most
powerful things you can do toreprogram your inner dialogue.
Here are three I Am rituals thatDavid Allen suggests that you
incorporate in your daily lifeNow.
(05:55):
The first daily I Am ritualwould be to stand in front of a
mirror.
Look yourself in the eye.
Ritual would be to stand infront of a mirror, look yourself
in the eye and say threeempowering I am statements out
loud with feeling.
Now.
It might feel silly at first, but trust me, it works.
The second daily I am ritual isto journalize your identity.
Every morning or evening, writefive I am statements that align
(06:19):
with the person you're becoming.
It might be statements like Iam strong, I am focused, I am
discerning, I am thoughtful, Iam kind, I am creative, I am
happy, I am joyous.
Whatever the statement is, itshould identify with the person
that you aspire to become.
Now, the third daily I amritual is to create what is
(06:43):
known as an I am mantrameditation.
Now, this meditation wouldprobably take about five minutes
.
Simply close your eyes, breathein deeply and repeat a single
word or phrase such as I amenough.
Let the truth of that wordsettle in your nervous system.
Now, the goal in doing thedaily I am rituals is to build
(07:07):
identity momentum.
So every day, you're remindingyour mind and your body of who
you really are.
Finally, let's take it one stepfurther by creating your own I
am manifesto.
Now, an I Manifesto is apersonal decoration of your
identity, your values and yourvision.
It's a daily reminder of yourpower, your purpose and
(07:29):
potential.
So here's how to create oneWrite down 10 to 15.
I Am statements that representyour highest self.
Two include who you are, whatyou stand for and how you lead
your life.
And then three read it everymorning, tape it to your wall
and let it guide your decisions.
So let me share my own.
(07:52):
I Am Manifesto that I createdwith music.
Hope you enjoy it.
These are the things that Ichoose to believe.
I am one with God.
I am strong.
I am focused.
I am wise and smart.
I am discerning.
I am thoughtful.
I am creative.
(08:12):
I am happy.
I am joyous.
I am generous.
I am compassionate.
I am patient.
I am kind.
I am coachable.
I am generous.
I am compassionate.
I am patient.
I am kind.
I am coachable.
I am loving.
I am passionate.
I am healthy and vibrant.
I am rich.
I am wealthy.
(08:33):
I am a great leader.
Now, that was just a smallportion of my own.
I am manifesto, and it'ssomething that I listen to every
morning on my way to work and,at times, on my way back from
work or right before I go to bed.
(08:54):
Now, as we wrap up this episode, let me leave you with this
thought your words have power, but your I am's.
They shape your world.
So today I want you to takeback control.

where you've been or what youbelieve your identity is yours
