La Doctora Espinosa Rugarcía fue miembro del Consejo de Bancomer y es hija de Manuel Espinosa Yglesias, principal accionista y director general de ese banco, el más grande de México en 1982. Ella reunió un amplio archivo sobre la nacionalización de la banca, estableció la Fundación ESRU en 2000 y fundó el Centro de Estudios de Espinosa Yglesias (CEEY) en 2005. También es miembro del Consejo de Administración de Telmex y del CEEY, y en 1989 fundó Documentación y Estudios en Mujeres, A.C. (DEMAC), institución que desde entonces dirige. Tiene un doctorado en Orientación y Desarrollo Humano por la Universidad Iberoamericana (2003) y otro en Psicoanálisis por el Instituto Mexicano de Psicoanálisis (2008).
