Xavier Velasco es un escritor mexicano. Obtuvo el Premio Alfaguara en 2003 por su novela "Diablo Guardián". Renuente a formar parte de movimiento literario alguno, Velasco ha visto su trabajo elogiado por escritores de la talla de Carlos Fuentes y Arturo Pérez-Reverte, quienes ya lo han citado como el futuro de la narrativa mexicana. Editado por Alfaguara, el nuevo libro de Xavier Velasco se llama "El último en morir", es una crónica, testimonio, ensayo, tal vez novela, en la que el también autor de "Diablo Guardián" explica el germen de su oficio, “sus misterios e intríngulis”. Al mismo tiempo, narra pasajes de su vida que resultan divertidos, algo que se agradece en tiempos tan aciagos como los de la actual pandemia.
