Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, did you hear
that?
Yeah, something fell.
You dropped a bag.
Oh, I got so excited for asecond.
Thank you, courtney.
Okay, hi, I'm Hannah and I'mCourtney.
(00:26):
Join us as we delve into truecrime, paranormal encounters and
all things spooky.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Grab your flashlight
and get ready to wander into the
darkness with us.
This is Wicked Wanderers.
Today, we're doing something alittle bit different.
(00:58):
Hannah and I have been outtaking care of some business,
having a good time, and we arelive at my favorite cemetery
that I know I've talked aboutbefore.
Hannah this is her first timebeing here.
Yes, it is my first time.
Hello everybody, I'm hopefulthat it lives up to everything
I've said about it and more.
(01:18):
I will preface this by sayingthat we ran low on budget time.
We wanted to come here and hangout.
It is now dark.
We are now technicallytrespassing, which we are very
sorry about.
We will keep you updated aboutthat.
Legally.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
We are being very
respectful though we are.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
So when we came up
the hill, I was saying to Hannah
when you come up the hill atthis particular cemetery, it
looks like you're going to afield, so you're winded.
It's a pretty big hill and thenall of a sudden, when you get
to the top, it crests over andyou can just see tons of
gravestones.
It's absolutely one of myfavorite places in the world and
the first place I wanted to trywas this tree over here.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Hello, did you hear
that?
Yeah, something fell.
You dropped a bag.
Oh, I got so excited for asecond.
Thank you, courtney.
Is anyone here with us rightnow?
Can you tell us your name?
(02:19):
You want to ask anything?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
No, we're just raw
dog in life.
So we're wandering away fromthe tree.
We didn't seem to get anybodyover there and I'm a little
disappointed, guys, because Iwas pretty sure we were going to
.
But we are going up to.
There's a pair of stones overhere.
Let's take a look and see whowe've got.
It looks like we've got aLohman Brown, and Talma Brown
(02:51):
Died February 25th 1892.
And died February 20th.
Wow, okay, so they died thesame day.
That is very interesting.
Are either of you guys here withus, the Browns?
Very interesting.
Are either of you guys herewith us, the Browns?
I'm really sorry to see thatyou both perished on the same
day 81 and 87.
(03:21):
I wonder if they were perhapsmarried.
Let's see.
The contraption wanderer is alittle different.
Nothing on the backs.
Is anybody over here with us?
We're friendly, I promise.
I get the impression none ofyou guys have been bothered by
anybody of our kind in quite along time.
Let's wander over here.
Got some stones down, whichunfortunately is not uncommon
(03:45):
here.
They're really old style stones, polly.
I believe Polly.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Polly, are you here?
If you look at the little redlight you just have to talk into
there.
I hope you don't mind us beinghere.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
We'll have to play
that back.
I've got a little feedbackgoing in the headphones.
It's hard to tell whether ornot it was wind or something
banging around in the headphones.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
We might have to
listen to these when we get back
to your house.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Yeah, I think that's
good.
Why don't we keep wanderingaround and we'll just keep
grabbing some different peoplehere?
There's a lot of trees in thecemetery, which I think is
interesting.
A lot of places.
I feel like avoid that.
Let us see who we got here.
Let me get out my phone, sorryif I'm blinding you guys.
(04:46):
Joseph Lee died October 12,1880.
88.
Mr Lee, are you here with us?
Is someone else besides Mr Leehere with us?
(05:09):
If you are, can you saysomething into the little red
light that Hannah pointed out?
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I feel like something
we forgot to do.
We didn't introduce ourselvesVery rude.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah, yeah, that's a
good point, Hannah.
So to all our friends livingand yonder, my name is Courtney.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Hannah.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Hello, hannah and I
are very interested in learning
more about you guys.
We're friendly, we don't wishany harm to anybody.
We're just here, non-judgmental.
Yeah, we're two people who arevery dedicated.
We both love helping children.
We both love reading.
We're both bookworms.
We're both just your averagegals.
(05:49):
So if anybody has anythingthey'd like to talk to us, tell
us about.
Tell us that you'd rather weweren't here.
Our ears are open.
Agreed, it's interesting.
It almost sounds like anairplane inside of there is an
airplane that's very interestingbecause it sounds like it's
inside my headphones.
(06:10):
okay, so let's try.
Let's try two more stones andthen, if nobody's biting, we'll
come back another time.
How about?
How about this one?
(06:33):
We've got Jerosha Blodge,october 10th 1851.
Are you here with us?
Looks like you were 86.
And please, if I said your namewrong, introduce yourself, let
me know.
And then we've also got MrSeneca Blodgett that's a
beautiful name.
December 6th 1815.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Yeah, he was young,
yeah 33.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Beautiful stone.
I love the carvings on thestone.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
I do too.
I actually like that.
It's flat.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah, a lot of the
stones are very, very flat.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Yeah, I like that a
lot.
It's very beautiful.
Hello, Mr Blodgett.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Again, you guys can
talk right into this red light.
We're not harmful, I promise.
Just trying to see if anybody'shere with us.
Well, let's take one lastlittle pass under the tree and
then we can go unfreezeourselves.
So for everybody listening hereWanderers, this tree and I have
(07:33):
a longstanding history.
I have found many thingsunusual under this tree.
I have found money, I havefound items.
I always feel a cool rush whenI go underneath it, and not just
today, because it's the end ofNovember, guys, so no jokes
about that, please.
But even in the dead of summer, you're wearing your shorts and
your t-shirt, you can feel acool rush underneath this tree
and I just feel like.
(07:54):
I just feel like somebody'shere.
There is a stone, one stone, exactly underneath the tree, but
unfortunately and regrettably,it's too hard to see what the
name is.
Oh, wait, a minute.
The other side has the name.
It's pretty worn, but someonehere who belongs belongs with
(08:14):
the stone.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Maybe next time we
visit we should do a rubbing
yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah, yeah, some art
to get some different rubbings
and things.
Hmm, is somebody here?
Does somebody want us to go?
That was weird, okay.
Well, we're going to leave youfor the night and we're going to
keep chatting with our friendsas we wander away, but thank you
(08:45):
for your time everybody.
Yes, thank you, everybody.
Have a good night.
We'll be back soon.
I got something on here.
I heard something.
For all the wanderers who arelistening, let's take a minute
to talk about safety, precautions and exploring and
respect.
So, obviously, when you'reexploring different things and
you're curious like one of ourmottos happens to be you want to
(09:06):
make sure that you're alwaysrespectful to the place that
you're at, respectful to yoursurroundings, but also aware of
them too.
While Hannah and I are out hereand we're obviously creating
content, we're together, we'reusing the buddy system.
People know where we are.
We're doing it the safest waypossible.
We do not condone the doing ofthis at all, so certainly keep
your explorations during the day, wanderers.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Yes, we just we
didn't plan very well.
Well, we did try to plan well, but you know, daylight Sames,
time kind of ruins everything.
But, yes, always remember thatif you're going to do this, be
respectful, don't taunt them.
That if you're going to do this, be respectful, don't taunt
them.
It's not nice, okay, I know yousee it on TV.
Don't do it, just be respectful, have fun doing it, ask
(09:50):
respectful questions and alwaysdocument, document, document,
document.
What was that?
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Did you?
Did you see that there's aflash of light over here?
Hang on.
There was like a little flashright over there by that rock,
but obviously there's no.
It was like right there, butobviously there's nothing there.
Huh, well, we're on our wayback towards the road now, but I
(10:19):
think that we're going to haveto play it back.
We're going to have to see whatwe've got going on here.
So, wanderers, we are back atmy house today for a change of
pace.
We've never podcasted at myhouse.
How does it feel to bepodcasting, not in the studio?
Speaker 1 (10:33):
It's a little weird,
but I love that we can just be
mobile.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Yeah, we're kind of
trying out this new thing where
and Rob uses it a lot for hispodcast Beers that Fit shameless
plug.
But we were trying to get usedto this, like sharing a
microphone.
We both have a lot to say, soit's kind of hard.
But we came back, we've warmedup our hands and our feet and we
started to dive into and playback some of the recordings.
Obviously, you know we didn'thear anything this time, but we
(10:59):
also realized that a lot of thestones at night were hard to
read.
So we played back, took downthe names of everybody.
We tried to do some research.
I came across a woman whocategorized and kind of
transcribed all of them for usabout 24 years ago, but I don't
think anybody's recently beenburied there, and so we were
able to find some of thosepeople and find actually a last
(11:19):
name for Polly, which was nicehere.
Hannah, you found Polly.
Why don't you tell us a littlebit about Polly that we were
able to?
Speaker 1 (11:25):
learn.
Something I did want to say, though, before moving on to
Polly, is that I think it wouldbe good for us to go during the
day where we can take time, bring a blanket and just kind of
sit in the cemetery and becomepart of the area, Because I
think, even though they're dead, they're still people right.
We can't just like hi, you'regoing to talk to us.
(11:46):
I think it would be good to go,have a blanket, sit down, maybe
even have a conversationbetween the two of us, talk
about what we love.
I think we didn't give itenough time, but that's another
hero there.
It was part of our day.
What do you think?
Speaker 2 (12:01):
I agree.
I think that we definitelycould have gone about it a
little bit better.
It was definitely freezingoutside.
The neighbors are very cautiousabout the place, which I
understand completely, and theydid pull up Polly there for you.
So we apologize, polly, yourlast name wasn't on your stone
directly.
I'm sure if we had been able totell.
The cemetery is kind of knownfor putting plots of people
together and there's like onebig stone that has their last
(12:23):
name and then all the littlestones for them.
But we did find you, polly.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
So we're talking
about the 14-year-old Polly
correct.
Yeah, so she was the daughterof Irving and Anna.
She died September 5th 1795.
And yeah, she was 14 years old.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
That's sad and it
seems like Polly might have been
a family name because there wasalso another Polly listed.
So there was another Polly, same last name, Shaw, wife of
Moses Shaw, who died April 9th1837 at 71 years old.
So I'm assuming it must havebeen for that timeline.
It must have been a grandmotheror even a great-grandmother,
(12:58):
because we're talking a verylong time ago.
I agree, we're trying topodcast with one microphone.
We're making it work.
Like I said, we both have a lotto say.
We did find Seneca Blodgett andJerusha Blodgett and they were
married.
It did confirm that they weremarried.
So we were correct about that.
(13:18):
And we were also able to locateJoseph Lee, and there was also
two of Joseph Lee as well.
So Joseph Lee we have to give aspecial thanks to, because he's
actually how I found thelisting.
It was on kind of one of thoselike project cemetery type of
things, Again from 2000,.
The woman had put it together,so it was hard to find.
But Joseph Lee was how I foundit.
I was looking for him and Istumbled upon the page.
(13:40):
The only two we weren't able tofind were Lohman Brown and
Thelma Brown.
I'm wondering if, perhapsbecause of the ages of the stone
.
It was really hard to read.
Maybe it was a section of theword.
It was also dark outside.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
We were using just
one flashlight because Hannah's
phone was in the car.
I was so unprepared I can'tbelieve how unprepared I was.
I was like really, but I thinkI just got nervous because it
was dark and then we almostCourtney told me to pull off
onto the side of the road and soI did, but like I hit a rock
and my car's really low, it wasa thing but we survived.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
The car is fine, we
are fine.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Obviously we stopped
recording, but you should talk
about the light you saw.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Oh, so as we were
leaving, we were coming down the
hill and I think it was likeliterally seconds after Hannah
hit like stop recording on ourdevice.
We're coming down like down thehill and I think it was like
literally seconds after Hannahhit like stop recording on her
device.
We're coming down like down thehill back towards where the car
is and there's a road that usedto go someplace, I don't know
where it connected to.
It's like it looks like it wasa real road, but it's like long
dead now and there was just aflash of a light and then it was
(14:42):
gone, like by the time I saidto Hannah hey, what was that
light?
We looked and there was nothingthere.
So time I said to Hannah hey, what was that light?
We looked and there was nothingthere.
So we did see that it couldhave been nothing, could have
been anything.
It's probably too cold forfireflies, but it could have
been a reflection of something.
It could have been.
Somebody else was also there atthe same time.
Certainly could have been anynumber of things.
I did also find a little bit ofsomething about the cemetery,
(15:05):
and it is public knowledge, likeyou know cemeteries, so I'm
okay with sharing what cemeteryit was.
It is the Palmer CenterCemetery, which is commonly and
previously referred to as theOld Center Cemetery, and it
dates back to May 12th 1735.
There were three men StuartSouthgate, barnard McNitt and
Isaac Magoon Jr.
(15:25):
That were tasked with findingaplot of land for a burying place
for the meeting house in Palmerso there used to be a meeting
house right up the street, frommy understanding and so it was
decided that they needed to havea plot of land to be able to
bury on, and the first burial inthat cemetery is believed to be
that of Martha, daughter ofBenjamin Parsons, who died March
30th 1737.
(15:46):
So we're looking at it wascreated in 1735 and the first
burial was 1737.
So that I mean that's what Imean 1737, someone do the math
for me Almost, yeah, 300, right,1819, 2000,.
Almost 300 years.
I mean that's a very oldcemetery.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Very old.
It's very weird with one mic.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
I feel like I'm like
and now do you have a question?
No, okay, it's definitely alearning curve for us to get
used to.
We could sit snugly or closertogether, but we're just not
that type of people.
We're not that touchy-feelykind of people.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
We've been with each
other all day.
We're just ready for books.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Yes, we both do enjoy
our books.
We've both looked at each othera few times.
We're like okay, anytime now.
But, with that being said,we've come up with a plan for
the next time.
We have some connections topeople who do some ghost hunting
.
It'd be great to get theirfeedback, maybe even get them
out there.
We'll see right.
We've got some exciting stuffin store for the rest of the
year, though, Wanderers, andwe're excited to keep on
(16:50):
wandering with you.
