Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh this is Cyril.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Oh yes, it is so exciting to welcome Cyril to
the show.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Thank you so much for dropping by.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Hey that and tom Oh we are on top of
the world.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I mean I got to say though, Cyril, just as
we were getting ready to welcome you in. During the
song there, I have this image in my mind of
you as this DJ who's living this really cool sort
of rock star life and need to find out you
had to run off and look after your baby.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
It sort of feels like an image clash for me, Cyril.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
That's incredible.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Yeah, today's it's a little bit about my little fellow
and my missus and in Switzerland tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
So it's a crazy life.

Speaker 5 (00:40):
How do you balance those two things? You know, dad
life and DJ.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
In If he's got any secrets, let me know, because
I'm still trying to go out.

Speaker 5 (00:48):
Yeah, I don't imagine. I mean they kind of work
because as a parent you're up in the middle of
the night. You're kind of up playing music as well,
aren't you. Can you kind of make those Yeah, well.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
A fellows already playing drums, so yeah, he's always in
the city to me, loving it, just banging on my
Johnson trying to make songs.

Speaker 6 (01:04):
Yeah, and look at.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
It's a It's an interesting idea because often you do
see that talent, you know, like artistic talent is passed
down generation generation. I know you you're obviously in the
midst of the you know, your career rise at the moment, Sarah,
But would you like to see your little one sort
of following your footsteps?

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Could you see that down the track?

Speaker 6 (01:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
I think like, if you did it, I'll be a
completely supportive.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
But if you wanted to work on the shire as
a council worker, was still in proud of him?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
The world's is oystay. You can do whatever he wants.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
What advice do you usually give to people who look
at you and say, oh, I want to be just
like Cyril, I want to follow that path.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Just keep going to some a lot of fun with it,
and don't just try to force it, just enjoy it.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Well, there was something incredibly authentic to your origin story, Cyril.
It started sort of just in your bedroom, mixing around.
It sounds like just originally for fun.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Can you tell us a bit about how this, this
sort of this ascension began for you?

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Yeah, so I started a traditioner, I was probablys old
and then I went to a lot of and then
by twenty two us I'll have my life on track
at university and stuff, And that was about six years
ago now, And I just from that point in about
twenty one and twenty two, I was just ready to
take it very seriously. By eighteen, I was already DJing
in nightclubs and producing and playing songs that I made

(02:17):
in the top. But yeah, from twenty two I really
just started to grind and you know, learn better production
and stuff like that. And then about two years ago
or three years ago, I really gave it my best
and went hard on the videos.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
And how has that changed your approach to music? Do
you think that that's opened up a whole new avenue,
a whole new pathway for people, the fact that you
can be, you know, in your room at home and
make music that's heard all around the world.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Absolutely, I think, like you know, if you look at
six seven years ago, when talking Instagram, it was relatively
new and we need to post a video of yourself
dancing to your own music, turning a chair. Being on
social media is such a game change, and now it's
so important It's good in one sense, because can you
get your name out there without big financial help and

(03:08):
the help of people in the big spaces.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Now you came on to our radar, Cyril with Stumbling in,
you know, the remix of that one, which we've loved,
latest one that you've got out is still into you.
We love playing both of those here at Kiss. I'm
just curious now that you're sort of doing these, these
remixes that are making their way into the mainstream like this.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Do you find yourself any time you hear any music anywhere?
Kind of half an ear wondering could I work with this?
Does this have something in it? I could do something with.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Every song, every song I listened to it. Now it's weird.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
And now I've got, like, you know, you know, I've
got sort of like a resume to be able to
hit up other artists and stuff that I'm like, oh,
so imagine, can we can.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
We help this guy? We help this guy?

Speaker 5 (03:47):
You know?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
So nas well we have.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
I've been working very hard to write some original music
in the last eight months.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
So the National Lease is an original song and it's
very exciting. It's with James Blunt.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
I'm very excited now you are known for your iconic
bucket hat, and Dom was just telling me off here
that he would love to rock a bucket hat. But
he's a little bit nervous. I was wondering if we
could get you to kind of I'm sure. Can you
see Dom there on the live stream, could you give
Dom some feedback on how to rock a bucket hat.
We've just brought one in.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Let's just put the bucket down down for like six months.
Let's go a mullets to get the mullet going. Get
that mullet, baby.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Yeah, bucket yeah. Okay, well he needs a bit of
a mo as well. But Dom, see if you can well,
because my concern is cereal, is you pull it off?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
You look brilliant with the bucket hat.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
I'm worried I'm going to look more like someone in
a high school play playing a grandmother.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Well, let's see, mate, that was fine. I wouldn't going
for the pin.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
But what do you think exactly going to be now
in the pink kiss bucket hat?

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Yeah, I can see where you got grandmother from. I
think that's not I'm.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Also like when I'm in the radio and I've got
to wear headphones when I first thought I had troubles
trying to put the headphones on because I want some
video stuff, so trying to play it.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
So I'm like not looking like a widow.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
But I ended up finding that if I put the
headphones up like on top of my head and then
I'll put one ear on.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
Yeah, there you go, it's a little less grandmother just
making adjustments on the fly. You look like the depiction
of the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood, you know
when the wolf is like pretending to be the grandmother
and it's like, oh, what guys you have or whatever?
That is? Yeah, No, I love that. That's that's what

(05:35):
I go for.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
Put on.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I love it. Mate.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Can you tell us where the bucket hats came from?
Did they predate the music? What sort of the timeline
with the bucket hats made?

Speaker 1 (05:45):
It was so random?

Speaker 4 (05:46):
So when I'm stumbled and I was meant to go
play the festival, basically made the way recon and for Sai,
I had like twenty remiss in a video and I
tried a few and I had a cap on and
I was like the videos weren't really you know, doing
march like maybe if he likes whatever, So My brother
in law was living with us at the time, and
he had a Maca's bucket hat from Peter Alexander.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
So he goes, oh, if you.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
Put this on, I said, all right, and then my
mother in law she got me a Harry Potter mug
Harry Potter cut yeah, and I put that in the
video and I put the bucket out in the video
and that just went absolutely nuts, stumbling and out, you know,
going pretty.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Viral and stuff. So what's that happened? I was like, well, change,
now this is my like over eight millions people seeing
me with a.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Bucket hat and a cup. Now you think ship, Yeah,
now I'm going to stick with it.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
So yeah, yeah, he has the cup continued to follow
you around as much as the bucket hat.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Nah, not really.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
I saw to go through just like periods of like
when I want to have it with me and I
don't you know, It's.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Like, I don't know, like some months I'm like, yeah,
I'm all.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
For the bucket out, I'm all for the cup.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Everyone loves the cup. At the times I'm nuts, cringe,
I'm not doing it, And then mate, I never know
what to think.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Well, look Sarah We're loving all that you're doing, and
I'm especially grateful as off with the fashion makeover you're
giving me on the show tonight.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
Thanks a heat for.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
That, mate, Thanks for having me. I really appreciate it.
