Have you ever seen me wear a jersey ever? Have
you ever seen me wear a jersey? Yes? I have?

Speaker 4 (01:54):
What was it?

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Oh that's right then? Oh that was a dark man.
I got crushed by eighth grade girls. Yeah, it's gonna happen. Uh.
First of all, good afternoon, everybody. It's a beautiful money.
It is a beautiful Weather's nice house. Oh my god,
you will crisp in the air, Matty.

Speaker 7 (02:13):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Football in the air.

Speaker 8 (02:14):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
It's not that it's also you know what the feeling
immediately gave me. But playoff baseball feeling. Oh yeah, I'm
ready for that too. Outdoor baseball now, was justin Verlander
ready for that? That's another conversation we can.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Have later on.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
As I tweeted last night, is Joe ready to have
the difficult conversation? Everyone's like, oh, they knew what they
was talking about, and I said time. Then I said, well, no,
it's the decision of what uniform to were for what
game of the playoffs. Plenty of time left, funny a
time meaning less than twenty five games. Good afternoon again
once everyone, and I hope you guys had a good weekend.

(02:50):
I had a quick trip to Oklahoma to see the
Cougars almost knock off sal Baby Oklahoma Sooners. I mean,
that's one of the best moral victories for the Cougars
I've seen since last year's game against I'm telling you
know what, Yeah, I mean, as compared to how Badie
looked against you and Ov, I'll kind of take it.
It's an improvement. I got news for you. I told
you this on text your Sooner. Your Longhorns are going

(03:13):
to destroy the Sooners. Rivalry games always amp up a
little bit, absolutely, but you just went to the Big
House and crushed the Michigan Wolverines. Matt when you get
to the State Fair and the Cotton Bowl, you throw
the records out. But I'm feeling pretty good about you
should feel exceptionally good. Their Their offense was lethargic at best.
Their defense is stout. I'll give you. I'll give him that,

(03:34):
but you also face the stop Michigan defense. And you
turned into the road in the Big House. That game
was over at half time. By the way, is Matt
McConaughey's still talking in halftime? Oh my god?

Speaker 9 (03:42):
He was.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
He was taking over to do this for years.

Speaker 7 (03:45):
I know.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
I'm just over him being the the official mascot of
the of the program and he just they trot him
out there everywhere for everything. It is out of your hands,
my friend. But that's fine. But he took over. Okay,
so yesterday, and we got a lot of things to
get to today, including to tell the truth at one
thirty and believe it or not today at two fifty.

(04:07):
Lot of things first and foremost highly a highly entertaining
game between the Texans and the Colts. I mean, for
someone that didn't have a dog in the fight, four
quarters of very entertaining football. Yes, I would say coin
flip each team would win five. But frankly, all the
Texans do is go to Indianapolis. And win these days

(04:27):
after not winning for years and years and years when
Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck were there. So give them
the credit for going up there and winning that Week
one game. I would say over all, the Texans were
the better team and this was the correct result. But
it was close and maybe closer than it had been.
And also you have to give credit to the roller
coaster ride that Anthony Richardson is. Here's the thing about

(04:49):
Anthony Richardson freakishly athletic. I thought that fourth quarter rush
to the end zone on the far right side was
as a grown man saying get out of my way.
He willed that his legs and his body into the
end zone and you can't take it away from him.
That first bomb he threw a pierce off of his
back foot, I think, oh my god. I mean, that

(05:11):
thing was sixty yards and you didn't think twice about it.
It was one of the longest since they've been tracking,
like one of the longest completions in NFL history. I
mean blown away by how impressive that was. But I
was also not blown away, but I knew there was
a hitching the gide up and that's his accuracy in
the mid range. On the mid routes, the ten to
fifteen yard passes insanely inaccurate on a lot of play,

(05:35):
insanely inaccurate. So if he gets over that, he is
going to be a special quarterback. But you can't be
special if you can't take care of the intermediate routes.
And I thought yesterday was a prime and frankly Texans
getting some luck on that, which is okay. When you
play in the NFL, you have to have some luck,

(05:56):
and you get and so they took advantage of a
quarterback who can throw the deep ball. I mean, that
was just pretty of a deep balls. You'll seeing through
him several times actually, but the intermediate routes were just
not very good. And that's what he's gonna need to
be a successful NFL quarterback. He's a great fantasy football quarterback,
he saied like thirty fantasy points, But what about practically
on the field. You're gonna have to make third and five.

(06:17):
You're gonna have to make third and twelves. You're gonna
have to make those. You can't just bomb it deep in.
And that's gonna be the the Anthony and Richards Shid
experience that he's gonna have to learn as an NFL quarterback,
so he'll be good for a while. What he did
yesterday was good, if you if he was great. The
Texas men have lost that game yesterday. Now speaking of great,

(06:39):
and I don't know, because maybe we watch the Texans
under a microscope more than we would say if the
let's use example of yesterday's game between Tennessee and Chicago.
That's a bad example because both the quarterbacks were terrible.
Maybe Rams Detroit, although that was some night games you
could kind of watch it. Do you think the Texans

(07:00):
receivers do a more masterful job of making the almost
impossible catch seem possible? Uh? That Nico Collins catch was insane. Yeah,
at first there was no room. He was on the
on the sideline. He had to worry about his feet.
He had a corner draped all over him. Yes, the

(07:21):
corner touched the ball affected the last bit of the rotation.
He hauled it with a body in front of him,
with people on the sideline, got the got the knee down,
which was two feet. I mean, it feels like every
week when they went, when the Texans went, I should
say there is one unbelievable. How did he make that grab?

(07:44):
Kind of gra I'm not talking too I'm talking about
anybody in the Textans Colin has made a number of those,
but Easter where you just say, how did he catch that? Catches? Yeah,
and now you've got Stefan Diggs Tank Dell can do
it as well. Yeah, it it goes hand in hand.
C J. Stroud is a great quarterback, but he gets
a little help from a friends every now and then.
I think was really good. I thought the past protection

(08:06):
was C minus at best, so his improvisation was great.
I thought the turf was embarrassing yesterday. Speaking of turf,
that was embarrassing. I didn't watch in the Friday game
because the Peacock network makes you do that, and I
have figured I do, but I was busy. So but
I could have gotten home last night and just hit

(08:27):
one button and been done. Peacock's a little bit of work.
So I was like, screw that. I don't really care.
Pluse I don't really care. But looking at the field
of that game on the highlights, yeah, I watched. The
game was embarrassingly bad. The field of Indianapolis yesterday. They
should have played like ten or fifteen high school games
on it to get it worn a little bit because
they were on ice skating ring for much of that game,
at least the first half. Yeah, it wasn't great and

(08:49):
then the bill the turf in Brazil was it was
just horrible turf too. Was there another concert there after?
Chris Stapleton, It looks even worse than it did a
week ago. What's going on? I don't know. I don't
have their calendar in front of me, but it feels
like there's been something in between Stapleton. It looked like
they were having horse races or so. Were there chariot
races at min at Made Park Yeah recently, or maybe

(09:11):
they were using it as a like a driving range.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
I don't know, but whatever they did, it was horrible. Yeah,
so we got to get to that today. A lot
of the tech, I mean just from again me not
having dog in a fight, very entertaining football game. I
had a dog in a fight. But I know you
did a great It was a great win for battle
Red Ross and all of Texans fans across Houston. Yeah.
One and oh baby and go is is the person

(09:38):
that tweets only undefeated team in the AFC. Is he
the same guy that says Astros won sixty two and
zero h it's similar, but they also are the only
undefeated team. Yep, that's better, especially in football you only
play seventeen. It's true. You get one up, you're looking good. Yep.
Weill Levis and the Thomas Sports Enterprises thought we had

(09:59):
one to really the statement, we had one of the
bag until one of the most boneheaded throws I've ever
seen in my entire life helped the Bears win that game.
Picture of him holding his hands on his head, on
his knees, like, oh my god, what have I done?
No wonder I was the second round pick justin James Verlander,
Brooks whatever. He doesn't deserve his role of middle name

(10:21):
until he gets I don't know. In to the fourth
inning we'll discuss. Oh, we will to tell the truth
today one thirty given on the show today. All right,
we mentioned Texas, we mentioned Houston. We have what else
we go going on? That was interesting from the weekend.
Dion Sanders, I am I take such delight in their falling,
I really do. I don't know why. It is because

(10:43):
he's one of the greatest NFL players ever to play.
Maybe the best cover corner ever in the history of cornerbacks,
not tackler, but corner. Yeah, no interest in tackling. It
just seems like he's been a bad dude. Colorado's just
getting there and meeting with the team and saying, I'm
in my own luggage and it's Louis so hit the
transfer portal. Yeah. And then the way that he's treating

(11:04):
reporters and all the latest story that we have that
we'll get to as well about what he's doing in
the stadium. It's just it's just being mishandled and I
am delighting in the downfall as well.

Speaker 9 (11:15):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
And then Tom Brady's debut on the Dallas Cleveland game.
And by the way, Cleveland Deshaun Watson, yikes. Brown's Network
can't be selling that. Imagine doing Brown's radio like, you
know how like vanderburn does the little show after the show,
like you try to accentuate the positive and there's usually
in everything that goes wrong. How do you do that?
I mean, Deshaun Watson was atrocious yesterday. Uh, trocious. It's

(11:41):
a lot to get to today. We want you as
part of the show. Seven one three, two, one two
five seven ninety seven one three two one two five
seven nine zero. Get in here, tell me what you

Speaker 9 (13:04):

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Matt Thomas now on Sports Talk seven ninety time is
Twump twenty. It is the Matt Thomas Show. So apparently, uh,
if you just heard the last promo there, Trump and
Harris are going to be in a forty five minute

(13:28):
that just count anywhere in the building. Are we using
the unified rules?

Speaker 10 (13:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Is this ib C R R I B A W
I B A W b C. Is it for all
the belts? Who's the referee? Who are they? Just for
the CIA and the FBI? Who are the who are
the judges? Well, the American people? I guess sorry, everybody's
gonna have a ten nine cards somewhere right Oh lord,
I'm gonna tell me. I was gonna say ten A
that'll be it'll be seven to six with all the

(13:56):
low blows. Probably. Yeah, we're just getting word. The candidate
you support right now has already won the debate. They've
already won. So you got it, You got a great job.
Your candidate has won the debate. That's a great thing about.
If you are a political radio host, whatever what side,
whether whether you're hosting an MSNBC or Fox News or radio,
you can go ahead and just pre record your show. Man.
If I'm Michael Barrett, yeah, Trump was amazing. Comal that

(14:21):
was terrible. Let's put some music and now do five
live reads. I mean, could you imagine we can't pre record?
I mean we guess we could. No some Monday Nation
of the Matt Thommas show. Congratulations to the Colts who
beat the Textans. Okay, three two one congratulations. Why do

(14:41):
the Texans lose the Colts? We should do that one day,
just pre record a bunch of stuff and see how accurate.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
We can get.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Congratulations to your candidate. They've already won. That's true, That's true.
Whoever they are all right? Seven one three two one
two five Steven Doty seven one three two one two
five of Antie. If you want to reach out to
us via Twitter, you may do that at Sports Empty,
at Sports RV, and at Connor d mcgovernor. Congratulations to
Connor's Missouri Tigers, say another hard fought victory over the weekend.

(15:11):
Who'd they play. I'll let him tell you. Buffalo the Bulls, Buffalo,
the Buffalo Booze the Buffalo Bulls. Okay, it's not a
Sunni school. I had that wrong, by the way, It's
University of Buffalo, so good for them on that. And
they're Mid American Conference? Am I right about that? Did
I get that right? I think it's Buffalo.

Speaker 11 (15:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Now they're basketball team with the tournament CU remember few
years ago they won some games. They were kind of
a most famous Buffalo alum University of Buffalo Barry Warner NFL.
Oh yeah, didn't finish there though, Right, we're talking about
the most famous universe. I think he came out early.

(15:50):
Oh oh, it's on the tip of my tongue. Ahead Kelley,
O Mack, you were going to say it. I know, no,
it wasn't, but I knew somebody forming Matt what my
what my mouth almost for them seven one three, two
one two five seven ninety Jacob Sugarland, Texas of the

(16:11):
Matt Thomas Show, Jacob, good Monday to.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
You, Good Monday.

Speaker 7 (16:15):
I'd like to congratulate the Texans on a great looking
first one.

Speaker 9 (16:18):
But the only bad part was the second day, they
can burned up top all.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
Day and day.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Well, they got burned three times in particular. Yeah, it
was two hundred yards. They'd given up on the air
for the whole day. And I know why the ash
turf is all messed up. I have an insider. He
actually works for the ground crew, and they replaced all
the outfield turfs this past series. That's what I was
kind of thinking, is maybe it looks so bad because
they're replacing it. Yes, I have I have a tipster

(16:45):
as well. This person tells me there are dead spots
more that it was rolled and they have not been
able to get as much sun as they'd like. So
whether it's that that will be is that will be
an issue today? No, it won't. So I like your insider, Jacob.
That's nothing. They'll stop. Get out of here, Thank you

(17:06):
very much. I just said, hum, I said, I like
his insider, he's got an inside.

Speaker 9 (17:10):
I like him.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Oh like, I didn't say I like your insides. Weirdo, weirdow.
I didn't do anything. Yeah, the thumbs up. See you
on Friday. That one. Look if I told you a
quarterback went nine for nineteen for two hundred and twelve
yards you and no way would say that the secondary
got shredded and that they were just getting I mean,

(17:34):
but you would say they are huge chunk plays. You
would use a foot, you'd use a sports only term,
susceptible to the bomb, the bomb. But that's also just
that's what Anthony Richardson does. He's going to do that
to basically everybody on the schedule. He's going to miss
a bunch of short and intermediate throws and then he's
gonna make a little time for himself escape and then
bomb it down the field. That's basically the experience of

(17:55):
Anthony richards experience at Florida as well. And I think
that was the problem that he had coming out of college,
is that he can throw the deep ball, He's got
tremendous athleticism, he can run, he can push off tacklers.
But that little third and five could be an issue. Yeah,
and it was yesterday, and until that, until that doesn't

(18:16):
become an issue, the c. J. Strode is going to
be considered a much more successful passer than Anthony richards
I'm already calling it, what do you call it? Anthony
richards will not be as good as C. J. Strode.
In the NFL at any point, you're calling that after
his fifth game a name on it. Let's go write
that down. Yeah, okay, I'll write it down. Wow, guy's

(18:37):
been in five games. You're already calling his career. Not
calling his career, I'm saying he will never start past CJ.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
Strout.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Hmmm, Well we're gonna see him twice a year, Okay,
I kind of like, let's go. It's fun. Oh, for sure,
you get worried. At least they din't get shredded by
him like they did last year. Well, apparently Will Levis
don't worry about him. Oh, don't even get me started
on Will Levis. I told he was just a guy. Matt,
you listen, No Thomas Sports Enterprises remains as the term

(19:04):
would be used.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Bull.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Okay, I'm not giving up on quarterbacks that fast.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
That's it, you know what. That's right.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
That's so quarterback Twitter, that's so message board, that's so Reddit,
and we don't do in my opinion, that he's going
to be just a guy. I could be wrong. Yeah,
you could also be Probably for a couple of years
of Josh Allen, we were saying he was just a guy.
And that's right. Well, now, he's more than just a guy.
But also I mean better, of course than than Anthony Richardson.

(19:32):
But the dust Galon experience isn't all that different from
the Anthony Richardson experience. So they were down huge Cardinal's
stupid turnovers and then just massive comebacks and magical plays. Yep,
So the Jaguars lost to the Dolphins. Yes, uh, the
Titans gave one of the Bears interception and a and

(19:53):
a block punt touchdown by I hate doing it to
the guy Jonathan Wells. It's Jonathan Wells. It's not mister
Simone Biles Owens Owens. Well again, maybe I'm right it
is Simone Boles. I don't even know his name. Yeah,
it doesn't matter. It's Chicago Beer. Although they're coming to
town this week. Okay, Texans I believe are six and
a half point favorites. Uh, okay, all that sounds about

(20:15):
right to me. Yeah, Jonathan Wells was the running Tayleb
Williams was terrible. Yea, Jonathan Wells was the old school
running back for the old schools. Yeah, Jonathan Owens is
one now will help you get the block punt for
the score. So good for them. Yeah, Caleb Williams is terrible. Yes,
and I'm already write that off. No, no, I'm not
going to make sure to make sure not writing mister

(20:36):
one gaming right off there writing off. It's two different things.
It's my more of my belief in CJ. Shroud as
a franchise quarterback. I see, I see, okay, and it
is discussing makes sense seven one three two one two
five seven ninety seven one three two one two five
seven ninety If you want to visit with us again
at sports MT, at Sports r V and at Kinda
the McGovern It is twelve twenty eight here on Sports

(20:59):
Talk SATNTY with a war here for quality Home Products
of Texas. Yep, storms, I don't think you're going to
hit us, but we're not completely sure. Probably for the
next twenty four to thirty six hours. We are still
in the midst of hurricane season and that means very
importantly that you need to make sure you've got all
the power services available to you. And that's why you

(21:20):
got to call Quality Home Products of Texas. Right now.
You can get five hundred dollars off when you trade
in an old portable generator, any brand or size by
simply calling seven to one three quality. Because Generaic Automate
next stand by generators give you the power. You do
not want to be left in the dark like we
had the last hurricane, or anytime major storms come through

(21:42):
the area. If you want quality products, quality service for
a quality life, get a generat stand by generator and
get five hundred dollars off when you trade it in
an old portable generator, any brand or size, seven to
one to three quality. It's an easy to remember phone number.
Write it down, memorize it. You want a generator, get
it today from seven to one three quality.

Speaker 12 (22:04):
It opens everything up right when you can run the ball,
it opens everything up when it comes to the passing game.
Thank God started it. They gotta put eight in the
box right. So now you have a lot of single
comforte on the outside. And you know that's where Nico
tank digs they can make their plays.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
Yeah. So Joe Mixon telling the world, I don't even
know damn preseason. You see how Sprian was yesterday. He said,
it's just the preseason. Said shut Joba ass up. I'm
out there practicing. Thirty carries one hundred and fifty nine
yards and a touchdown. Also had Oh I thought he
had a couple of catches, right, Yeah, three catches for
nineteen yards. Pretty darn good debut for both Joe Mixon

(22:43):
and Stefan dis two touchdowns. Yes, Tank Dale's like, uh,
I'm here too. He got a couple carries. Three around
those nine couple carries. Yeah, five touches not great, but
it's all an equal out. Nico Collins six for one seventeen.
It was a good day Sunday. By the way, I'm

(23:05):
not going to get into that unless you want to. Okay,
the whole end of the first half thing that was
a hot mess. It was I understand that that Demico
comes to the fall for it, and yes, there should
have been a little bit more of awareness in the
Texan sideline, but it was very convoluted. If you're gonna
criticizing coaches for time management is gonna be a thing.

(23:28):
It always is. But that was such a disjoint into
the first half that I'm gonna cut them a little
bit slack on that. One. My biggest problem was that
there was five seconds left and you're one what yard
line were that like the thirty fifty yard field goal attempt? Yeah,
I mean, you're trying to gain your trying to you
can use five seconds in one play. I thought it
was too dangerous to be on the field anyway. Yeah,

(23:49):
just just spike the ball or kick the ball and
everybody ready in position. Yeah yeah, so that's that. I
think they'll learn from this. But it was I don't
think the NFL is proud of the situation, and I
don't think that make it was particularly proud either. You're
at the thirty one yard line. Fair Buran's got that,
just kicked the ball. Yeah, let's go oh like Kymie
Fairbaran and MVP three fifties fidties as the kids would say, Yes,

(24:13):
but you know what fitties are now, today's forties. That's well, yes, forties. Actually,
the greatest kicker of all time, Justin Tucker, has been
struggling with fifty yarders lately. He would he missed two
on Thursday. Yeah, what's up with that? I don't know.
He's like thirty four to thirty five now, maybe he's
slowing down. I mean, Janetkowski was still knocking back to sixties.
He normally can go into like their forties. Adam and

(24:33):
Terry was kicking into his forties. Somebody kicked a sixty
six yard in the preseason. It was what game house
I watch Brandon Aubrey the Cowboys made. Yeah, that's how
it was. No, he made in They this yesterday against
the Brown Joe then but then they had a penalty
and then they didn't let him kick the seventy one yard.
Seventy one would have been cool, I would have been.
Of course, I would have tested me immediately for steroids

(24:54):
at that point. But that's either here nor there. Let's
go to Brian in Paarland at twelve thirty seven of
the MA Thomas O'Brien. Good afternoon, Hey, good afternoon, guys.

Speaker 13 (25:03):
First of all, I got to give the fans in
Indianapolis credit.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
They were really good to us yesterday.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
We went up there.

Speaker 13 (25:09):
Good atmosphere, good stadium. I mean, obviously it's a home opener.
It was packed, but they were really good fans. Uh,
you know, they cheered for their guys. They gave us
some grief, but nothing, nothing out of the ordinary. And
it's kind of nice, you know, to have a retractable
roof and the damn things open and look it is
possible to do. But uh, good atmosphere, and good Win.

(25:32):
I was a little concerned, you know, that we kept getting.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
Beat with the deep ball.

Speaker 13 (25:36):
That is something I hope they will get fixed, and
I'm sure they will before they face a quarterback who
could really exploit that, like an Aaron Rodgers or you
know later in the season of Pat Mahomes. Something to
definitely get get worked out. But great to see that
offensive line actually when they're healthy, working the way they should.
Kenyon Green had a lot of good uh. You know,

(25:59):
he's a good run and you look saw a lot
of those counters that mixing took right, kind of that
in that hole that he and Tunsil opened up. And then, guys,
I'm kind of with you on Berlander. I don't know
how you put him out there for a for a
playoff game, definitely not for a wild card game if.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
It's Game three.

Speaker 13 (26:17):
I don't feel comfortable giving him the ball.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
I really don't.

Speaker 13 (26:20):
And that's that's sad to say, unless he starts showing
me something here. I'm hoping Eric Getty's performance the other
day was just an anomaly. I mean, he's had such
a good run here lately.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
I just don't know how you how you.

Speaker 13 (26:34):
Run him out there based on his current track record,
because it's not getting better, it's only getting worse, which
is sad to say, which makes me think he's either
not healthy or he just doesn't have it anymore. I
just I just don't get how you how you roll that.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
And that's gonna be a.

Speaker 13 (26:50):
Tough conversation for a spot to have, but hopefully one
that even Berlander has to be like, Man, maybe I
don't have it anymore, or I don't have it the
way I used to, and.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
I can in other ways.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Yep, thanks Brian for the phone call. Appreciate by the way, Brian,
I want you to explain to the audience because you
were just there, I I send something to hang up. Oh,
he said, thanks guys, and we thought he was done. Okay,
what I want for Houston. Indianapolis has their two arenas,
their stadium, their football stadium, and their basketball arena are downtown.

(27:24):
O grant, we don't have that, but when you go
to Indianapolis downtown, that's what it's the whole day. It's
it's the bars, the restaurants around there. The stadium's very close,
everything's walkable. I'm insanely jealous of a city like Indianapolis
that has it. We just our people just don't support that.
And you had had bars cropping up in downtown. But

(27:45):
I think I saw somewhere on Twitter like five bars
have closed downtown in the last and I wonder, I
wonder if that's part of the reason why Jim Crane
is like, I'm not going to develop that area just
quite yet. Could be because again, you can do destination
because you can develop it and have it full eighty
two times a year or eighty one whatever. It's breezes
in game. But but the other two hundred and fifty

(28:07):
days of the year, I mean, you've got the Heights,
You've got Washington, You've got Midtown, You've got I mean,
I guess maybe Downtown has just missed the boat. Yeah.
Maybe maybe we're just a committee. We're just so spread
out that you just can't take it every everywhere. Because again,
Jim Crane's got doesn't turn down bad deals. He said
that land over there across the street from m Park,

(28:28):
just sitting there. Yeah, I as a business person, I've
never sat there and said, I don't know what Jim Green.
I don't think Jim Crane knows what he's doing. Yeah,
that's true. Let's go to Arlington and talk to Roger
on seven out Roger, good afternoon.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Are you doing guys, Let me show thank you. You
know that Texan win yesterday, it was a good one.

Speaker 13 (28:49):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
You know, mixing was unbelievable. You know that old line
was doing it blocking for that man. And and you know,
and we still have I believe Pierson, we still.

Speaker 14 (29:00):
Have acers out there sitting them, you know, playing on
the bench or whatever you want to.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
Call it, second, second, and third.

Speaker 14 (29:07):
But uh, I mean Diggs got his two touchdowns, I
believe correct, and and he was happy.

Speaker 10 (29:15):
Uh.

Speaker 14 (29:16):
And if you look at the rest of the NFL,
look at the Bengals, man, Oh, that Chase is not
even in there.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
There's a lot of stuff going on in the NFL.

Speaker 14 (29:24):
And and I feel our Cortectans are set up for
a really good season.

Speaker 10 (29:30):
Uh.

Speaker 14 (29:30):
And you know, our schedule is tough, and if and
if we coop up the momentum, uh, you know, it's
gonna be a good season.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
That's all I got to say about that, guys.

Speaker 14 (29:40):
And uh, you know tonight's gaining Tonight's game, man, you
got the old timer playing against that new timer.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
I mean you know the young guy.

Speaker 14 (29:49):
I hope he can last of four quarters and I'd
love to see him continue playing.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Thanks a lot, guys, love you show, Thank.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
You very much, appreciate the phone call. Thank you. I
believe Rogers party and Aaron Rodgers. Yeah yeah, I think
right was Roger formerly of the RGV. Now he's moved
his way to arm to believe you're a correct call
on us for years. Good. Appreciate you, Roy. I'm look,
I don't. I don't think it's fair to do anything
when it comes to predicting of seasons based off of
one game. No, but it's easy to do it. But

(30:18):
you can be encouraged by things. I'm encouraged by Joe
Mixon and the way that he ran. I'm encouraged by
Kenyon Green, as Brian mentioned, which we haven't talked about.
Kenyan Green actually did okay okay guard and that's a
great news. And we've got a new obligatory will be
coming up here next twenty four hours or so. It
was not encouraged by that. I know where you're in
the direction you're going, but I guess it you treated

(30:42):
about us thought, Uh that's funny. Uh yeah. Past protection
was below average at best. Run protection was outstanding. Joe
Mixon can go against the grain. And honestly, Damian Pierce
was just a guy. I don't even think what's his
face took the field cam akers, it doesn't matter. It's

(31:04):
about where Joe makes. Get three carries for sixteen yards
for Damian Pierce, man, it's good over five a carry.
He's coming back. Folks, Okay, maybe that's too much name.
You are drinking. You are full Texan. Uh No, I
haven't declared them super Bowl winners yet, like some have
the previous shows. Weren shirts yet a lot of time left.

(31:25):
Mm hmm seven one three two one two five seven.
Donattie seven one three two one two five seven, Nintie.
We take this program to three o'clock. Justin Alexander Verlander
awful yesterday. We'll discuss him, and we'll get to more
on the Texans and fell from the weekend and Tom
Brady's debut all between now and three. This is Sports

(31:46):
Talk seven night. You know what, Tom Brady's debut was
a little low energy. I would have to say. I
would say Justin Verlander's uh performance on the mound was
a little low energy. You know what, those guys have
in common. They're over forty. If you've had a lack
of energy, motivation will be hasn't been there. You're not
sure what's going on. Feel like your diet, exercise regiment
has stayed the same, but you've slowed down for whatever reason.

(32:06):
Could be that your testosterone levels have gotten low. How
do you find out? Step one very simple, get them checked.
Who do you get them checked with? How about you
get them checked with the people that are going to
give you your results back at your very first visit,
and with the people who are going to tailor treatment
specifically to you. And cannot emphasize this enough. That's why
you want to go with Synergenics because they are going

(32:28):
to give you customized care. They're not going to give
you stuff and send you on your way. This is
not just pills out of a bottle. This is customized
care from the experts. You have types of testosterones at
different levels, and Synergenics understands that and curates your treatment
based on that. Fixmlow t dot com is where you
need to go see the clinics they have all over town.
Fixmilow t dot com to be in the hands of

(32:50):
the experts at Centergenics. That's fixmilow t dot com. Matt
Thomas putting the age in angry. I want to just
scream for a second. H Towns Sports for lunch on
seven ninety. It is twelve fifty here on the Matt

(33:14):
Thomas Show. We have to tell the truth coming up
today at one thirty, where I'll have four sports takes,
only one of which I believe. This is easier for you.
I would say, with all the stuff that went on
in ollege football, NFL, YEP astros, just be ready for
that come up in about forty minutes from now. Believe
it or not, Today could be a writing things. We've

(33:36):
lost a couple of people in the world of sports.
Alan Aldridge, former Houston Cougar, Denver Bronco. He was coach
at fort one of the Fort Benn High schools. He
passed away suddenly, fifty two years of age. Terrible news
on that. And then another passing something that I knew
quite well in my earlier days. Carol Dawson, longtime Rockets
assistant coach scout general manager, passing away after a long

(33:59):
illness at the age I believe of eighty three. Somewhere
in that range just eighty six as a wicked Oh okay,
good than eighty six. Good good life for him. One
of the nicest people in the world period, end of story.
Oh that's great. And was a man that scotted football,

(34:22):
scotted basketball, was it played at Baylor, assistant coach at Baylor,
I want to say for a time, Oh okay, and
just overall just a good, good human being. He would
he would not be a general manager in today's general
manager world because he would take media side and say,
here's my rhythm to my a method of my madness,

(34:45):
so to speak. And he would explain things were going
on and not give away all company secrets. But he
was way more forthcoming or most general managers in twenty
twenty four. Maybe it's because there's just twenty five times
the amount of media that there was, say thirty years ago,
but today's there tight lip there, there's a lot of
gets you kind of media out there and stuff like that,
and it just wasn't that adversarial. Yeah it used to be, yeah,

(35:08):
for sure, but just a really really good human being.
And sorry to hear about his passing, lived a very
long I mean, survived being struck by lightning. Wow, only once,
you know. So they say if it happens once, it's
more likely to happen again. Yeah, I dot, I don't know,
but I can tell you that if not for that,

(35:30):
When Don Cheney was fired as a Rockets coach in
the early nineteen nineties, he probably would have been the
replacement over Rudy tom Jonovich, but I think Carol knew
because of his physical limitations he even better served as
an assistant coach and said, Rudy, we want you to
take this job. Wow, so sounds like you could be
believe it or not, I think we got some stuff

(35:51):
to work with him saying just throw that out there.
But anybody that's that got to know CD at all.
Certainly my days of the Rockets, seem was also the
first general manager of the Much two and helping develop that.
He was, Yeah, he helped. My gosh, what we're doing,
believe it or not, I'm about to use all like
four things you just said seven one three, two one
two five seven ninety. Let's go to Preston and Paarland

(36:11):
at twelve fifty three. Preston, good afternoon, Preston, you're on. Hello.
I was doing gay We're amazing.

Speaker 10 (36:25):
As woman coming about the game yesterday with the Texans
and the coach.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
I used to live in Indianapolis for a few years
and when where they're.

Speaker 10 (36:33):
Redheaded steps out and they used to beat us all
the time. Got to go to quite a few games
in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
Our first one that we won in Luca Oil Stadium
about and I.

Speaker 10 (36:43):
Think it was twenty thirteen, fourteen or fifteen somewhere arounning
there and that's when everything changed. Yesterday was one of
the best things I've seen watching a long time. It
was entertaining and they were just taking care of business.
Only tend to kind of worries me a little bit.
Is our secondary still? How they got burnt three times? Anyway,
you guys have a great day, and uh go Jackings.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Thanks pet Press, appreciate the phone call. Uh yeah, I
it was it was the secondary. It was the safeties.
It was poor tackling. Jimmy Ward had some issues. Ward
had some issues. Uh Stingley got beat early on. I mean,
it's gonna happen. But overall, it was three big throws

(37:26):
of fifty plus and they had Anthony Richards threw for
two hundred and twelve yards. Yeah, for the most part. Well, now,
how much of that was him limiting limiting himself with
his poor accuracy. Of course, there's there's a room for me.
I wonder, yeah, I wonder what his numbers would have been. Well, man,
wonder if he was a good quarter if he completed
its throw, if he completed half of those intermediate passes

(37:48):
that were not I mean, how many were how many
were drops? I guess it's my point. Uh huh. It
felt like to me there were very few drops. It
was a lot of it was out of bounds, thrown
behind the receiver, some tight coverage. There's a couple PBUs
as well. But I mean that's gonna be early on.
You get Caleb Williams coming in this week. Okay, you
get Sam Donald after that. Okay, Sam Donald was really

(38:08):
good yesterday. They're taking on a h My god. And
Daniel Daniel Jones isn't an abortion of a quarterback. I
mean he's terrible. Sorry, Wow, we went we went there.
That's fine. Tell us how you really feel. Oh, I
didn't realize Connord Horne sexons colored shirt today. Good for this,
go baby, Wait, I don't know we were throwing up hs?

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Is that what we do.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
No, we're not doing any of that.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
Why not.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
I'm throwing Pam McNair does it? Yeah, Hannah told me
to throw up the h yeah.

Speaker 6 (38:37):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
And then it's Trevor Lawrence at home, who's if you
can get pressure on him, he's not very good at all.
So really until week five home for Josh Allen. What
day is when is that? Uh? That will be the
date October sixth okay, got you got you on the
Uh yeah, Jacobe Brissett and or Drake May and then

(38:59):
Jordan Love is out right now you get the Packers
after that. We don't know how long he's gonna be
out with that knee injury. Mm hmm. So what are
you saying?

Speaker 9 (39:06):
You?

Speaker 1 (39:06):
Are you streaking over there? They're there the schedules looking
pretty good?

Speaker 6 (39:09):
Are you?

Speaker 1 (39:10):
I said? Are you streaking?

Speaker 9 (39:11):
Well?

Speaker 6 (39:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
Stanton Norflei had said before the season starting six and
oh yeah, but he's he's almost on the payroll. That's
not true. He loves him with Texas well, who doesn't
mat Oh you I don't love I'm I'm Texans realist,
texantator man. And guess what, as a realist, that's why
you should appreciate my opinion more because I'm not blinded
by things, and yesterday, to me, you're blinded by the light. Yes,

(39:34):
wrapped up like what a douche? What is it a deuce?
I don't even know. It's a question we've all had.
It's the second most confusing line in music lyrics, behind
Rocketman burning up on fuels up here alone?

Speaker 4 (39:50):
Or is it? Oh?

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Okay, well, I thought it was gonna be the entire
song of Louis Louis. That's true. Nobody knows what the
hell that guy's saying. Seven one three two one two
five seven ninety seven one three t two one two
five seven nine zero. All right, we have to address
the ugly elephant in the room. Okay, justin Maurice Verlander.
I believe it's Brooks. Whatever doesn't matter until he comes

(40:13):
to my show. I'm gonna mispronounce this. I'm gonna misname
his middle name. He comes on the show, He's more
than welcome to. By the way, Chas McCormack got radio
guests on the program tomorrow, Chez. Yeah, he's done what
he's got. It's doing a lot better. Yeah, I'm very happy.
Attention everyone celebrating a sixty fifth birthday. Congratulations, you are

(40:54):
for Memorial Herman Advantage HMO provide up by Memorial Herman
Health Plan in corporating a Medicare advantage organization with a
contract with Medicare and a contract with the state Medicaid program. Again,
it's mhmdicare dot com. Launchtimers. This is the Matt Thomas Show.

Speaker 9 (41:12):
Here's a two to two to Smith and he hits
this in the air deep to left field. Albarez is back,
so is McCormick, and it's into the Landry's Crawford boxes
a grand slam for paved Smith, his second home run
of the game. He has driven in seven and the
Diamondbacks now lead this one eight to nothing. Wow, that.

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Was ugly. Now I don't have I have direct TV,
so I was sol on the broadcast, but a friend
of a friend of a friend had YouTube TV, so
I was able to get his codes. So you stole
a password, you're broking federal law. Not really, if he's
giving it to me, a's a gift your apparently, unless

(42:01):
ESPN gets ZAC together, you're a thief, Matt, It's fine,
call me a thief. I watched the game, well, actually
I watched literally when the game. When the game was over,
I said, you know what, I'm gonna put this Rams
Lions game out. It maybe a little more competitive. I
got a little closer in the fifth yeah, and then
I got a little wider in lull five. Eventually, Uh,

(42:22):
Hector and Harris has been giving up some home runs.
Hector Narris makes the playoff roster, I would say, yes,
Nick Carnetaz not so much. Now, remember every round of
the playoffs, you can readjust your roster. Mm hmmm, because
I mean in the playoff round, the wild card round
should be best of three, you probably would only take

(42:44):
four starters with you in case one got hurt. So
my guess is you'd have two of those starters not
even on your wild card and roster. Interesting, then you
recalibrate if you win the next round and go to
the division series. Josh Hader gonna make the playoff roster.
I think he's safe. Keeps giving up home runs. As
long as Brian and Bray's arm doesn't fall off, he'll

(43:06):
be fine. It's still a winning weekend. Two out of
three does hurt, because the Astros are back to four
and a half in front after the Mariners disposed of
the Cardinals yesterday. They'll be fine that mask I'm not
You shouldn't be No, I just don't enough. I just
I just don't want those last six games three and
home with Seattle in three at Cleveland demean a whole lot.

(43:29):
I think they're gonna. Yes, if you got swept in
that series, it matters, but I think you should be fine. Yeah,
but I think where I'm gonna check the latest standing says.
I think it feels like to me that the number
two seed is where the Astros are gonna be locked
in basically three three Excuse me, yeah, because two would
have to take a little bit of work and let
me see you right now, full four games behind Guardians,

(43:49):
that's probably not happening now. If you want to go
up there and win that series, that's true. Not only
would you gain gain ground on them, but you'd also
the tie breaker against head to heads. Yeap, wrong with that?
What you checked yourself?

Speaker 9 (44:02):
Though?

Speaker 1 (44:02):
I appreciate that. Seven one three, two one two five
seven nine zero. Uh, he didn't have it. He just
he being justin just doesn't have it, not getting swing
and miss, giving up home runs, and he's calling this
spring training. They continued to call it spring training. I
don't know what kind of comments he gave in the

(44:22):
post game yesterday, if he talked at all. Maybe he
just went home and hung out with his supermodel wife
and child. Yeah. If there's anybody I'm not worried about
the rest of his life, it's him. He's gonna be
okay thinking about it. What does suck in his life?
He is going to be, I believe, a first ballot
Hall of Famer. He is gonna be a first ballot
Hall of Famer three time in the world. He married

(44:44):
a first ballot Hall of Famer woman. I believe, the
highest earning picture of all time. Until somebody's plans him
on that, I think it's like him and sures Are
and Grinky up there, and I believe he's passed both
of them. Yeah, so he's got a we're in television
if he wants it. Maybe maybe you mean you don't

(45:07):
think he can do it? Oh he can do it.
How good is he gonna be? I don't know.

Speaker 9 (45:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (45:10):
That time Brady's debut was underwhelming. Well we'll get to that.
But I mean, like who Adam wayIn Wright has done
a nice job jumping in. I mean some again you
can you can tell, and he also does He's I mean,
trust me when I tell you this, he will not
be doing some regional package of games. It's gonna be
doing enough Fox or he's not even be bothered by it.
Yeah he's gonna go. Yeah, we'll see. But he's doing
okay for himself. I don't envision Justin Verlonder doing Apple TV.

(45:34):
Of all the outcomes of life that you could choose,
if you say I want to be Justin Verlander, you're
not in a bad spot, Like where where would he
have gone wrong in his life? At the spot like
if he's going, God, I have a hot wife, I've
what regrets in life? Does he have a single regret
in life. My biggest regret is not going i'mpiring school
at the age of eighteen. Uh huh, that's not bad either.
I've done pretty well for myself. If that's my biggest regret.

(45:56):
What's his biggest regret? I don't think he has one.
I'm one of the greatest pictures of all time. Check.
I have a smoking hot, supermodel wife that everybody in
the world wants yeat ding. I get to see her
naked every single day if I want to, and the
h and I'm the highest earning picture of all time. Yeah,
he's doing okay. And I can pick and choose want

(46:16):
to do my interviews. And I also might not make
the playoff roster. These are things we'll get to. Uh
but yeah, uh Kyle Tucker got a hit that was
good to see him. Yes, Bragman's in and out. Tucker
probably in and out. My guess is though two guys
will be that way the rest of the season.

Speaker 4 (46:35):
There.

Speaker 1 (46:36):
Yeah, it was a planned day off for Tucker on
what was it Saturday? Yep. After Yeah, and he's been dhing.
Joe's a spot us says he's close to being good
to go, and right field we might see that coming
up soon mm hm. And Bregman's been back at third base,
so I'm feeling good in it. Crazy though, that Bragman

(46:59):
goes to play a little bit first base in warm
ups or in the pregame drills and then there has
not been a thought of him playing first. But now
it hasn't happened. He must have said I'm not good
or maybe his maybe his his elbows heeled it better
than they thought the Grimlins. Maybe the Grimlins have calmed down.
There's gonna be one way those criminals are gonna be fixed.
Doctor whatever is gonna fix the body as soon as

(47:20):
the season's over with. That's fine. Matter of fact, we
know we got to do. We ought to get a
get well car ready to go already really locked that
bad way to the hospital already, yeah, say and and
dress it to Bregman. Uh and then put like October
whatever date you you know, hopefully it's November when he
has it, because that means he's still playing. We'll see.
W'd be nice, But wouldn't that be a gift that

(47:42):
get that Really it would be like you're giving me
a car to get well card before I even have
the surgery. How so thoughtful.

Speaker 9 (47:47):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Well, you guys are bros. I gotta be helpful. He'd
probably would get a chuckle out of that. Yeah, because
there's no way he's not going under the night fixing
to come on the show this year. But that's correct.
We're working on as I say, I tell me be
on the show yet, No, not this year. Justin been
on the show. I think we're going two years with that. Jose.
Now we had him like for like on the phone,
like he called like two fifty four one time or
something like that. Yeah, that's right. I think that that
might have been Maybe that was last year, Yeah, but

(48:11):
I think it was a year before. Yeah, well that's fine.
Uh and then knowas mccorby coming up, Chasmin cormack tomorrow
and never Justin Verliner since he's been an astro. No,
although he was on a Saturday show with you, that's true,
and continue to brag about that, bragging, but it was Astrofest.
It wasn't the raw show. Yeah, it's fine, what was
my show? But I mean, I mean where people jonesing
in on it so they could interview astros too. Maybe

(48:32):
he had a lot of people joning in on that
didn't you. Yeah, it's funny they only show up, but
it's Astros fast time. That's true. All right. Texans did
their thing winning over the Colts. Highly entertaining football game.
C J Straub did the little things that frankly, uh
Anthony Richson could not do. Credible catches, great running game,
good o line protection on the running front, the pass

(48:54):
front a little bit different. Aggressive fourth down plays a
play calling, aggressive down decisions by Demiico Ryans that I liked,
I'm supported by the analytics is not aggressive, but in
terms of where we have been in the sphere of
NFL decision making aggressive At first, blush forgetting about the analytics,
because you're mister analytics.

Speaker 10 (49:12):
I know.

Speaker 1 (49:12):
I'm sorry. What did you think about that fourth down
play call? Going forward instead of going to get the point?
I loved it. You're going for sevens not threes? Yeah,
I guess, I mean because you could. You had the
chance to end the game, and then if you don't
get it, you're we're deep on the own, on your
your trusting your defense if they're not going to drive
ninety five yard Yeah, place in time, I thought going

(49:32):
up five would not have given me any additional sense
of security of felt like that was going to be
enough to hold on, especially because of what Richardson was
doing with all those deep passes. So I in that
in first blush not look at the analytics. I thought, right, call,
I agree, it makes you sound. It makes you look
better too when you actually complete the play aggressive. But yeah,

(49:54):
of course your genius if it works out, and you're
a fool if it doesn't. That's how it works. That's see. Well,
but that's what sports are all about. If that wouldn't
have been converted and they would have come back and
they would have gotten a field goal to win the game,
you'd have had missed everybody's second guessing. That's what sports are.
Sports is second guessing. And I you know, but like
I said, I what I wanted to do in that

(50:15):
moment in time, I thought to myself, I knew it's
to be a talking point for us. What are you
do in that situation? And the very first thing I was,
go score because even if you don't score, you saw
you're then telling your defense we think enough of you
that we're not gonna You're not gonna go. It wouldn't
have been ninety five, we wouldn't need it, you'll need
a field goal. At the time. We're talking about two
different decisions. I'm talking about the fourth fourth quarter where
they were up the field goal would have been put

(50:35):
them up five. The field goal to put them up five,
I was there was the the There was also the
fourth down decision where they got the second dig touchdown.
That was what fourth and two or whatever it was. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Again,
I thought from a decision making standpoint, there was nothing
that was off yesterday. He again, coaches are not going
to bat a thousand, but just don't do it. And

(50:57):
I'm more offended by coaches going forward on fourth and
one at their own thirty six. That offends me more
than anything else. Asking your defense to defend a ninety
five year football field, I can kind of get that
because if you can't, because if your team can't defend
seventy eighty ninety yards, then you should have won the
football game. Aggressive, Demiko, let's go baby, okay seven one
three two one two five seven Hony real quick, Tom Brady.

Speaker 9 (51:21):
H Now.

Speaker 1 (51:22):
I didn't watch it a lot of it. I was
mostly watching red zone.

Speaker 4 (51:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (51:26):
I made it a point to watch the entire first
quarter knowing that he would be better in the fourth
quarter because again just getting your feet wet. I'll give
you my thoughts on it, and we got to tell
the truth at bottom of the hour. So we got
a lot to get to today, plus believe it or not,
all things. Carol Dawson, May he rest in peace, a

(53:18):
returns on Sports Talk seven ninety. All right, so Tom
Brady makes his debut ROSSI and Again. I watched a
lot of the first quarter and then towards the second
half of watch little but the game got out of hands.
I was like, I'm gonna take a nap. Okay. I've
been at played by play Man for thirty Yeah, I've

(53:41):
worked with a lot of people the professional opinion. First
of all, huge name for the biggest name in sports
quarterback of all time, and to get that, it's a
feather in the capnuga and you had you had to
pay for it, oh a lot. But even the greats
have to kind of work their way up. There have

(54:02):
been some exam exceptions. Tony Romo was put on immediately
as a number one team. Jason Witten was immediately put
on Monday Night Football. He was terrible, but even John
Madden back in the day worked some of the lower
tier games to kind of get his feet wet. But
if your Fox and you have the greatest quarterback of

(54:24):
all time, and you're paying an ungodly amount of money,
you don't have enough time to put him on the
Saints versus Panthers game. You're you're gonna put him on
a game that will be gonna be seen by the
most amount of people possible. Right, it was cliche failed.
There wasn't a lot of analysis. It was kind of
mastering the repeat of the obviously what it just happened,

(54:46):
not a lot of if and or wise, which again
that's what an analysis for Why did this particular play happen.
Why was this receiver open? What was the quarterback thinking?
And I think that's where Tony Romo became a star
war early on, is because he took us into the
quarterbacks mind. And Tom didn't do that yesterday. But to
give anybody a failing grade and said this is a

(55:08):
disaster wouldn't be fair because again, that was just his
first game. Now he said, I'm sure a bunch of
run through games they did one matter of fact, during
the preseason, what nobody saw except them at their own
internal Uh. He may never be great, but he's going
to be significantly better in his next game, and it's
gonna be better the next game. It's gonna be the
better of the next game. He's he's well spoken, he's

(55:30):
got a sense of humor. He's got a partner who
wants him to be successful. When you have a partner
that wants to be you to be successful, it's gonna
make your job a lot easier.

Speaker 4 (55:38):
There.

Speaker 1 (55:39):
I I've had partners before that I didn't like that,
I didn't care what they said, just get out of
my way. I've also had partners in my life that
I enjoy that I want to make sure they shine
in their analysis, and I think Kevin Burkhard's pros pro
wants Tom Brady to be good. The biggest conundrum that
Fox has is that Greg Olsen did a spectacular job

(55:59):
being umber one football analyst, and for all his hard
work and for the Sports Emmys and for doing the
diligence and working those lower tier games and working to
his top spot. When he retired, he gets the reward
of being downgraded the second game. Now again, second game
is not terrible, but the first game correct. So how
this isn't eventually going to end remains to be seen.

(56:21):
But I think anybody going to their typewriters or their
computers or to their message boards and saying that Tom
Brady was a of a disaster, it's not fair, but
it was his expected kind of underwhelming. And there's an
extra layer to it as well. Tom is going to
be a partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders here

(56:44):
before you know it, and broadcasting rules are not going
to allow him to have any access to any team
because of that, So he will not be able to
go to the Friday practices like most broadcasters go to.
He will not be involve in the production meetings. He
will not have a chance to talk to the players
before the game in those production meetings where you get

(57:05):
a lot of the inside information, not inside and intelligence,
but just why things are doing the whey they're done,
what a quarterback thinks. None of those things are gonna
happen because he is an employee or will be an
owner of a of a partial of an NFL team,
So that could ultimately hamstring a little bit of his
progress too. I'm curious how limiting is that, Like he
can't so he can't interview a quarterback or a player, No,

(57:30):
can he like give somebody some questions and they ask
him those questions? Yeah, I'm sure, Yeah, I'm sure curious.
I'm sure he gave his director and say, hey, ask
Let's say he was doing the Cowboys game. He'd say,
act Dak Prescott this week and this, this and this.
But there's a difference in me having you ask it?
Are you doing it for him? So they're gonna have

(57:50):
he's gonna have to work through that because that's gonna
be that's a huge detriment because some of the great
stories of anecdotal things are in those stime Honestly, yeah,
are in those Saturday products. And you can't use that
like when we you know, you heard Andrew Kantalana and
and Tiki Barber saying we talked to c. J. Stroud yesterday.
That's usually good nuggets. Yeah, that's why they get that

(58:11):
the opportunity. So he doesn't get that. So we'll see.
I think he just seemed a little more buttoned up.
I think he just needs to be a little more
casual and comfortable, and I think he will get more
casual uncomfortable. What I would like for you to do
is I'd like you to give out the story that
you told me before the show today was I think
it was very, very fun. Well, apparently at some point
Scott Hansen on Red Zone, which is the greatest channel,

(58:35):
at some point Scott Hansen went to the Cowboys Browns game,
which is what they're working, and when they came back,
he basically said Tom Brady needs to show a little
bit of more mo I'm trying to get these It
was not because of the game call. It was about
something that happened in the game, and I think he
was like, man, that was an exciting play. Tom shows
some energy to it. Yes, Tom Brady has got to

(58:58):
get more excited in the booth and we don't have
the audio right now, but we could find it. And
then Scott Hanson apparently had to issue an apology for
saying that Tom Brady needs to get a little bit
more excited, because you know what Tom is in Scott
Hansen is employee of the NFL. Yes, so yeah, and

(59:20):
that's a and that's a broadcast partner, and that's someone
that is already facing a lot of criticism. You don't
want one of your own. It'd be like, uh, you're
watching the early game, you know, but it was the
noon game on Fox yesterday that we had in town.
Was Carolin norm It'd be like Mark schalaireth going, boy,
I hope that Tom Brady didn't suck tonight in the
three o'clock game. Well, Scott Hansen's apology said that it

(59:44):
was more tongue in cheek. Hmm, apology. Okay, we should
have it shortly here, Okay, But he said that was
unfair and inconsiderate by me, did Scott Hanson? Yes, I
was saying a tongue in cheek but didn't calculate how
it may come across Tom Brady. I apologize, I promise
I'm rooting for you in this new venture because here's
the thing, and this is where do I defend Tom

(01:00:05):
Brady a little bit. You think Scott Hansen was doing
his first red zone going, Man, I got this nailed, dude,
going back and forth to all those games, I'm sure
he made some man, he's so good at it though.
But here's what the Scott Hanson and his comment.

Speaker 11 (01:00:18):
Turner back there, that's something to worry about. Seventy one
This is crazy, yeah, but they got to cover if
it doesn't go in.

Speaker 4 (01:00:30):
This is a.

Speaker 9 (01:00:31):
Seventy one yard attempt, and now the Browns will call
time out.

Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
Maybe everyone's going to rethink this one.

Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
Seventy one yard final time out the jud.

Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
Come on, Brady's got to get more excited than that
in the booth. This is gonna be a turn there
you go one about his overall game. It was about
the thought of somebody trying to kick a seventy one
year too exactly. Just Scott hands and gets excited about
everything that happens on the field. Well, he's probably go way,
he's good. Yeah. Now when you was there a Scott
Hanson version and then there was a version he was

(01:01:05):
on direct TVs. But that's when I did say, hey,
turn to channel seven to zero whatever, because he would
be directing people on direct TV to what channeled Hey,
if you want to tune into this game, hit this channel.
And then Scott Hansen was the more generalized for people
that don't have direct TV and still get red Zone.
The best part of yesterday in the afternoon games, because
I was watching the Texans exclusively, was I put red

(01:01:27):
Zone on for the three o'clock is that Scott Hansen
didn't do a lot of talking. They would go from
one plate to the one play to the one play.
I mean just it was a seamless transition. That's why
I will agree with you the red zone is the
greatest channel in the history of Earth. Oh so good.
Does college have a red zone?

Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
They have?

Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
Yes, I can't remember what, or they at least used to.
I don't know if they still do, but they had
a college football equivalent. And then during the Olympics they
did a gold zone. Yeah smart, I pretty good, super
super smart idea. All right, it's time for me to
tell you the truth. Are you ready for that? Rossie?
I am ready all right? Seven one three two one

(01:02:04):
two five seven ninety seven one three two one two
five seven. Nunty Uh. I'm gonna give Ross and Connor
for my sports takes, and they're gonna try to figure
out which of the four I'm telling the truth. Uh now, yeah,
they has ESPN goal line. By the way, as we've
talked about before, all four of these things could eventually
be true, But for the sake of this conversation, as

(01:02:25):
of today, I think of only one thing that's true.
Seven one three, two one two five seven. Nunty.

Speaker 8 (01:02:31):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
There's a number if you want to join us on
any sort of the conversation. We got astros to get
to still more of that or in the Texans game.
But first things first, I want to tell you about
Two Creeks Crossing Resort. Had such a good time when
I went and visited there a few weeks ago. And
the weather's starting to cool a little bit, which makes
it even a better opportunity for you to go out
and enjoy the cabin life. They've got these beautiful waterfront cabins, cabins,

(01:02:54):
they've got tree houses, they've got glamping areas, they have
all sorts of things. If you don't own an arm
we need not worry because they've got everything for you
out there. They also have terrific facilities like a pool,
a hot tub, they've got a pickleball courts, they've got
barbecue pits, they've got everything. I mean this, like this

(01:03:14):
Gorilla Area is unbelievable. Such a comfortable place for you
to get away for a short period of time, whether
you're going for twenty four hours or forty eight hours.
And some of these cabins have direct TV Internet, you
can watch your games, you can have a family get together,
and one of their cabins has a hot tub in it.

(01:03:35):
Really a nice place to go. And right now, my
friend's over at Two Creeks Crossing Resort want to give
you a ten percent discount on all cabin and your reservations.
So if you want to book their day, do it
right now by going to Two Creekscrossingresort dot com. Two
Creekscrossingresort dot com, located not far from Lake Livingston, gives

(01:03:55):
you comfort and nature all on the same weekend. It's
Two Creeks Crossing Resort and get that ten percent discount.

Speaker 7 (01:04:01):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
I don't know, but.

Speaker 1 (01:04:22):
Rossie, I do know how to tell the truth. I'm
about to do it here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
I'm a little disappointing. You've actually got a lot better
at this, and I'm not happy about it. Connor's kind
of been put in the same once a month. Still suck. Yeah,
you'dn't done well. Oh watch me today, ROSSI. I love
your optimism.

Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
I do too.

Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
I love this optimism. I wouldn't bet on you though.
All right, here we go. I gotta get it happened.
I got four sports takes. One of the four I believe. Now,
remember all four of these could very easily happen. But
at this point I have an idea of what they
do believe today. Well, I did lose the last time
because I said that it was a bad take to say,
you say, Kuci couldn't ro seven innings, Yeah, and then

(01:05:02):
he threw seven innings. But it was my take. So
but it was bad.

Speaker 7 (01:05:05):
I know.

Speaker 1 (01:05:06):
I have to get in the mind of Matt Thomas
and his bad takes. Number One, things in Boulder are
going to get really, really bad. Dion Sanders is not
going to survive this season at Colornto. Okay, Okay, So
I'm saying at the end of the year, I believe

(01:05:26):
there will be an interim coach at Colorado. Wow. Okay,
number two. We were just talking about Tom Brady a
minute ago. He is going to become a soon to
be minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Okay. He
is going to want to get involved in decisions about
coaches and drafts and being a legit owner and enjoy

(01:05:51):
the life that is an owner. And he can't do
that if he's working NFL games every Sunday across the country. Okay,
I believe that I'm Brady. Even though the money is
great at Fox, we'll be giving up this Fox dealing
a couple of years because he's gonna know at the
end of the day that he's gonna be able to
make more money as it's maybe at some point a

(01:06:12):
majority owner in the NFL, and he's gonna want to
be involved in being involved in the Raiders ownership.

Speaker 4 (01:06:16):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:06:17):
So when is he stepping down from Fox? I would say,
and this is a tanke for me, I could see
him being out within three years. I don't imagine him
being this year because that would be a huge PR disaster.
But I would say three years from now that Tom
Brady will not be the number one analyst on Fox. Okay, okay,
look in my eyes, aren't you I'm staring at you now,
I know you are. It's a disadvantage Ros gets to

(01:06:39):
see you. You're right. Well, then show him picture of me. Yeah,
I'll FaceTime you. There you go. Number three. I looked
at the Texan schedule. I looked at the Cowboys schedule
for the month of September. Neither team's losing a game
this month. Texans and Cowboys. Okay, okay. And four and

(01:07:00):
not least if the current JB woes continue, Ross and Connor,
Joe Spott does not gont to worry about that tough talk.
Justin Verlander is going to take himself out of the
rotation and or a playoff roster for the first round
of the playoffs. Dude, that so we've been spending a

(01:07:23):
lot of time talking about Joe Spotta having the talk. Yes,
I think Justin Verland is going to be like, I
know I suck and I can't think of helping this
team by doing what I've been doing.

Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
Now, if things change and he starts to pitch a
lot better than it's a different conversation. Okay, But if
the current trend is going, which it currently has been,
there will not be a need for a Joe spot
a tough talk. It'll be a Justin Verlander saying, you
know what, for the best of the team, I need
to be out of this round. And those are my
four takes. Okay. Number one, Deon Sanders won't survive the
season in Colorado. Number two Tom Brady is going to

(01:07:55):
be out of Fox within three years because he wants
not because he doesn't think he can do it. He
doesn't wants to be an NFL owner. Interesting, Number three
of the Texans Cowboys will not lose him on the
September and for JV will be the one that will
take himself out of the rotation before Joe Espotta has
to make that tough conversation. Which one of those four?
Am I telling the truth? You want to start, Connor?

(01:08:16):
You want me to start there?

Speaker 10 (01:08:17):
You go.

Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
I think Dion Sanders will stay at Colorado. You're saying
he's he's not going to finish the season Colorado. Yes,
because his children are on the team, and so I
think I think Dion's gonna stay at Colorado. Connor, but
I don't know. Matt could certainly believe that. I agree

(01:08:42):
with you, though I don't think it's one. I don't
think it's two either, because Tom Brady, we're not going
to overreact to one game. Matt just said that in
the last segment, but he did say three years at Fox.
But also they're paying him three hundred and fifty million dollars,
so I don't think he's going to step down and
do ownership stuff. So I think that one's out too.
I have to look at the Cowboys schedule. I guess

(01:09:04):
I'm leading towards three because the I'm leaning towards three
as well because the Cowboys are playing the Ravens in
two weeks from now, and I think that's their toughest matchup.
You don't think that, So you're so they're losing a game, right,
The Cowboys won't be undefeated in the chamber. They'll lose
to the Ravens. Okay, so that's why you're tossing out three. No,

(01:09:25):
I'm I'm oh, yeah, we're trying to figure always tell
the truth about Yes, I almost forgot the game for
a second. It's okay, very confusing, dark I lean towards
two that I got to pull up the Cowboys stupid
Cowboys schedule home for the Ravens. Yeah, they could win that,

(01:09:47):
that's winnable. It's easy to say they can win. And
then they got the Giants and then they got the Saints.
Those are also imminently winnable. Also, Connor, there's something I
noticed when he said take number three? Did you notice
what I noticed? He just said the taken moved on.

(01:10:07):
He didn't defend it. He didn't. So does that mean
that it's something he believes and he didn't want to expand?
And this is also I was staring him down mind games?

Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
I love this?

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
Or is this why the show should be on at
and t or on?

Speaker 14 (01:10:18):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:10:19):
Did you want to move on from it? He didn't
expand it all, he just moved on completely. Yeah, immediately, Yeah, Matt.
So for take two, you don't think Tom Brady will
finish out his ten yure deal with Fox? Correct? Okay,
not even close? But you said within three years? Yeah,
because he wants to be an owner. Yeah, not because
they he's the public pressure. He's gonna get better. I
don't think he mentioned the last time. I think he'll

(01:10:40):
get better. Okay, but he's he's gonna want to be
a part of an NFL ownership group. He's gonna get
a taste and he's gonna say, look, yeah, three twenty
five is a lot to give up at Fox, but
I'm gonna chance to make three hundred twenty five billion
justin Erland or how bad are we talking currently? Not
as bad yesterday, but I would say since his return three,

(01:11:02):
I'm not gonna follow you. I'm gonna go too. Okay,
it would be terrible puplic relations for Colorado Fire Dion
Sanders before the end of the year, no matter how
bad it gets. So I don't I didn't believe Number one. Okay,
I think the Texans and Cowboys could win the month
of September. But I don't think either one of those

(01:11:24):
two teams are so good that they couldn't be upset
when they don't play their A games. So while I
think they're both gonna have great months, I can't. I
don't truly believe they're gonna be undefeated at end of
the month of September. Number two and four, Tom Brady

(01:11:44):
needs three hundred and twenty five million dollars Boys to
help him with his future ownership, so he's not going
to turn down that Fox deal. He's gonna stay the minority,
minority owner of the Texans of the Raiders, and he's
gonna keep the Fox deal. Okay, up, I think Justin
Verlander is going to be the one that's going to
announce that I'm not good enough and that was gonna

(01:12:08):
announce it. Hey, he's gonna have a press conference. No, no, no,
he's just gonna say, Look, I'm not surprised by this.
I told the guys I need to be better. There
are other guys in his team and the most important
thing for me is for our team to win, and
I can't win. And it's gonna be something of that nature.
Has there been a pitcher in baseball history who went
to their manager and said keep me out of the
playoff run? No, but he'll be done that way. It'll

(01:12:30):
be Joe. It'll be like Joe going to it. Hey,
let's do this. This is ridiculous. Is one of the
ones where he changed it. You're right, I think you're right.
The games over here, I can't believe. We need to
get a print out before. I can't believe you haven't
take this bad. You need a printed out handed to Cordy. No, no, no,
I will no, but point, here's here's how it goes.

(01:12:51):
I'll be Joe, you be justin, Hey, justin, what's up? Hey,
I'm justin. Yeah, how's it going? Hey? I want to
talk with you about something? Okay, And this is what
you would say. I know what you're gonna say. I
get it. Well, that's not him volunteering like you said. No,
I get it means like no, the normal diva bordline
and be like no, you're putting my ass out there. Well,

(01:13:11):
we got to bring this to the arbitration board. This
is out of control. You said he's gonna go to
Joe Espada and say kick me out of the rotation. Yeah,
he's gonna he's gonna ask what he's saying. There's no
chance that happens, not take me out, but he's going
to say, I understand what you're doing here. You don't
have to explain anymore.

Speaker 4 (01:13:28):
I suck.

Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
That's Colin Sanigan's on this whole thing. Connor whatever, I'm
believing your conspiracy. Now I'm buying into this. But you know,
both of you can suck it because you got it
wrong and it's and it sucks to be wrong. I
know you you're used to it though, you just can't
get used to these horrible, horrible Oh my god, there
it is. I'm My point was that you guys clearly
can't figure out because you're deaf. Is that is that

(01:13:51):
Joe's not gonna have to have that cut a tough conversation.
So Justin's gonna go to him and say, leave me
out of the playoff ros. No, he's not gonna say that.
That's what you said. No, I'm saying that to take No,
he why would he volunteer?

Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
That isn't that?

Speaker 1 (01:14:06):
Hold on, let me see what I wrote down. Verlander
will take himself out of the rotation or playoff roster.
That's what you said. Well, he's not gonna go. I'm
not volunteering. He's gonna be He's it's gonna be Justin's
gonna I'm to understand what did he say, Connor? What
did Matt say in the original town right? If that's
what you want to take it as to take himself
out and volunteering a very synonymous Okay, if you guys

(01:14:29):
want to win on the technicality, go it's fine, no, no,
take take take the win. I'm very proud of you all.
I don't want to win that way too bad. And
if you want me to write some riting, he's out
ahead of time. I need to start printing. We need
print out, marked printouts. Okay, that's fine, pivot Thomas. I'm
gonna start calling you hibit.

Speaker 12 (01:14:47):
You know what it is.

Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
You know what it is. I'm mister uh analytical. I
take a deep thought of these things. It wounna be
nice the first time. I'm not every day on this show. Actually,
he probably back you. Probably if I wouldn't look at
your text about this, the stuff you would say, Okay,

(01:15:11):
well maybe I miss you know what. I'm sorry, Matt,
I misunderstood. Good job.

Speaker 6 (01:15:16):
God.

Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
That's the worst part of this all is that you
are You're not even really believing what you're saying. If
I let me tell you this, if I said that
he was going to take himself out, then I apologize.
That's not what I meant. My point is that misunderstood
that jessin Verlander is not going to fight this like
you and I have been talking about for the last
two months. This was Mom saying, well, if he keeps
on giving eight runs, he needs to take himself out. Yeah,

(01:15:39):
but he wouldn't go My point was he wouldn't go
to and say, hey, I can't believe that Joe's put
me out of the rotation. What I should have said
was what I think is that Jav's not going to
the bullpen. I thought the guys in ESPN were right.
Jessin Verlander's not a bullpenk guy, all right. So that
was a conmoluded, hot mess of it, to tell the truth,
and that's fine. Ross one, Connor one, Matt and zero.

(01:16:02):
I lost on Sports Talk seven. You're you know what
you live? The next segment, I need a segment off
seven one three two one two five seven Dottie seven
one three two one two five seven one if you
want to get into the conversation seven one three two
one two five seven. I thought yesterday was a day
that Justin's got to reevaluate what he thinks of his work.

(01:16:26):
And this whole thing about being spring training starting number
four and stuff is it doesn't fly anymore. Let's tell
you about Big City Wings. Did you watch football at
Big City Wings yesterday? Did you eat at Big City Wings?
What are you doing on Sundays if you're not enjoying
some of the best food in the city Houston? When
it comes to wings and burgers and sandwiches and salads

(01:16:47):
and appetizers like the white wings, so good chili cheese,
waffle fries. We're talking about, uh, the great sandwiches, the
huge The chicken tenders today are a dollar a pop,
five tenders, five bucks. I dare you to find a
better deal on that than anywhere the Big City Wings

(01:17:09):
is not located, because that's the best deal in Houston.
Plus today at Big City Wings, thirty four ounce Big
brews at four dollars and fifty cents. If you want
a premium Big Brew, it's five dollars and fifty cents
and that starts at three o'clock today. Happy Hour also
starts at three o'clock. But most importantly, today is a
day for chicken tenders, sauce and toss the way that
you want to at a just a dollar apiece. Big
on Wings, Big on big screen TV's big on watching football.

(01:17:32):
It's Big City Wings a Big City Wings dot com. Welcome,
good afternoon, the best sports luncheon h Town. MAT's really smart,
he works hard, he has a good grasp of players.
He's been around the game. You love him, We love
them so excited for the opportunity that Matt has in
front of him. For sure. This is the Matt Thomas Show. Right.

(01:17:55):
I love you, Nick Assario, Thank you so much, my friend.
Do I get nice things said about in the liners?

Speaker 6 (01:18:02):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
I didn't know Nick Cassario respected your your football knowledge
like that. There are three people that listen to the
show religiously, Hannah cal Nick. I don't know if that's accurate.
Robert C used to listen. Robert C did listen. D Calhoun.
I don't know. M No, Hannah's always listening to everybody, though.

(01:18:26):
She Oh, yeah, she's got a list. You might be
on it. It's fine. No, what I've said nothing but
praise for her. She basically said she took the keys
from cal and said, franchise, this is my team. You
sail the way. Hannah McNair literally saved the tip. Put
your stupid h's up, go eat your barbecue, go play
your video games, and let me and let the big

(01:18:47):
boys and in my case, big girls handle the business. Yes,
and I my and if my twin sister wants to
work with me too, so be it. You got out
the way, and they're in a great spot and they're
one to er and basically, hire a competent personal man
and a competent coach and let them marrin their business.
And they're looking good right now. And the NFL business,

(01:19:07):
you could hire anybody to aroun the business. Sid you're
gonna make money that way, that's true. What do this
for me real quick? I remember, I want to say,
about ten years ago, give or take, the NFL was
worth eight billion. Oh you mean the whole as a whole,
all thirty profits were eight billion. Revenue. Yeah, revenues were

(01:19:32):
divided because we're divided among But what I wonder what
it's got to be? Twelve thirteen, fourteen billion at this point.
That was ten years ago, so I don't you know
this says now? Of course, numbers went down during the
COVID nineteen pandemic. Two thousand and four, NFL revenue was
six billion. Two thousand and three it was thirteen billion.

(01:19:56):
I remember at some point saying they're making a twentyllion
dollars twenty twenty two eighteen point six billion. Now that's gross,
and that's gross revenues, accounting expenses. But it says this,
I don't know this. It's Google AI and sometimes yeah,
I don't don't. I don't trust Google. Anya. They said
payout of four hundred and four million dollars. In twenty

(01:20:19):
twenty three, each team got a payout of four hundred
and four million dollars, a payout four to all four
and that and that I'm gonna say that doesn't include expenses.
I mean that does include expenses, because you're not paying
out a less expenses. So four hundred and four million
per team, yes times thirty two mm hmm, that's twelve

(01:20:42):
billion dollars. So they have maybe roughly six billion in
expenses and twelve billion in profit. That's just is that
pure profits, but each team has to maybe pay their
payroll with that payrolls close to two hundred million now
being is executives. If you can get the financial wherewithal
to buy an NFL team, you have to do it
because again, you don't have to do anything short of

(01:21:05):
basically being misogynistic or being racist, or being homophobic or
committing major crimes for you not to make a gazillion dollars,
just kick your feet up and roll in the dough.
Like does anybody really think the cow goes in the
office and says hen ied, I need projections for today.

(01:21:26):
You mean projecting of his xbox. I mean Hannah probably does.
But Hannah probably has a series of accountants. So she says, hey,
look at these numbers. See how Now she's working with
the Texans Foundation. I think Hannah is wait ten more
times buy than col Ten OK for them. So the
biggest challenge that Cal had was convincing that a brother

(01:21:48):
to leave him alone. Short of that pretty good life,
he travels on the team. Yes, eats well nice sweet.
Oh yeah, I mean his theater room, theaterreroom, looks THEATA
rooms good. Uh, it'ts. His beard shaved every once in
a while in front of the public. He serves Burgers
once a year, and he's considered, you know, by the

(01:22:09):
fake media, to be the coolest guy on earth. Yes,
they did. It was a concerted PR effort, and I
would say it's been successful. And I wonder if it
was somebody or a some group that will not be named, Like,
for instance, if you're a PR agency and you were
able to turn the image of the Texans from being
a bumbling, stumbling group of idiots to a well beloved

(01:22:32):
group of people. Now, wouldn't you if you were a
PR firm when you say, look what you can do
over here at Old Thomas A proper relationship. Yeah, I'd
want to brag about it. You can't, though, or unless
there was one person or just Hannah said, you know what,
I'm smarter than all you buffoons. I'm gonna run this thing.
Maybe it was Hannah and Hannah pr enterprises it. Whatever

(01:22:54):
it is, it absolutely worked because anytime Hannah is on
social media, anytime that Col's on social media, it is. Yeah,
it is well beloved. Now again, the most important thing
is the product. You made the right higher. You went
and got Demiko Ryans. You went and out spent everybody
else when other teams are looking for him. And you
will lieve in the Casario plan because Cassara was a

(01:23:16):
guy on the on the Texans radar even before he
was a general managementer. When the NFL got and slapped
the Techans across the risk for even having a conversation
with Nick Assario. He was on their radar long before
all this. So you have to give credit where credit
is doing it, and you have to do that. I'm
just saying thank you, Hannah, Thank you Hannah, because I
don't think Calum much to do this at all. I

(01:23:37):
wouldn't think so. I don't think so, except Cal married
the right girl the second time around. Good job, and
now he's making plenty of money. Yes, his team is beloved.
Season tickets are back to being sold out. Sunday night's
going to be crazy at Energy Stadium, and you're gonna
beat the Bears by probably ten to fourteen points. Well

(01:23:58):
Vegas has six and a half. Vegas doesn't know everything,
that's true. Vegas didn't know about the Northern illinoisl was
the weekend. Vegas did open a two point spread in Indianapolis. Well, Vegas,
what was Northern on OI twenty eight and a half
point and a half? I think upsets happened.

Speaker 3 (01:24:16):
They do.

Speaker 1 (01:24:18):
Poor Irish and by proxy or how about them maggies
age don't feel good? No, they don't. I don't know.
Peyton Reese was not a big fan of the North
classic letdown slash trap game. Then you don't schedule then,
or you're get some guys into that aren't afraid to
have good back to back consecutive we get geared up

(01:24:38):
for this big road game. That'd be interesting to keep
an eye on the Longhorn. So that means if you're
a UTSA fan or you're routing, you're taking UTSA and
the points against Texas road Runners. I think it's thirty
two and a half or something. They got destroyed by
Texas State. Oh they did, Yes, Texas State's up and coming.
How do you say that? GJ. Kenney? I couldn't ken

(01:25:01):
that coach. He's going places. There's some good coach there are,
you know? Yeah, in today's world, if you're good, you
will not be at your current institution very long. I
gotta think the UNIV situation that coach there was at
Missouri for the long, longest time. What's what's your buddy's name?
In Missouri? It was now UNOV running things uh off
to a two. Barry Otam. Barry Otam couldn't find work

(01:25:22):
anywhere except for U and OV, and all of a
sudden they're going to not bowl games at the UNOV
and thrashing the cougar. Crashing is a strong term, but
there was a storing, invescerating. Okay, enough for you, Barry
Odam's going places. Seven one three two one two five
seven ninety seven one three two one two five seven
ninety We play some cool music with some Texans highlights

(01:25:43):
to start the final hour of the Matt Thomas Show
here on Sports Talk seven anty Believe it or not,
Ross coming up in less than an hour. What is
today's topic? That would be one? Carol Dawson? May he
rest okay? And what are you playing for today? Connor
on the old Prize Vault, Oh well forward teasing, gotta
be good stuff today, gonna be fantastic. And a seven
ninety T shirt. I love that's the best part of it.

(01:26:05):
And a seven hunty T shirt. You should tell that
a seven hundred T shirt and take my.

Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
Got a seven.

Speaker 1 (01:26:13):
I know he's still looking for the folks about I'm
sure I will tell them about Centergenics. I will tell
them about where you need to go if you want
to turn your life around. If you've been in a rut,
if the energy has been low, motivation hasn't been there,
libido embarrassing, you're just feeling lethargic, not yourself, haven't changed
your diet or workout, and things aren't working out for
you in the bedroom and or in life.

Speaker 4 (01:26:35):
What are your what?

Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
What can you do? Who can you turn to? You
can turn to Centergenics, you can turn to fix mylow
t dot com. Fixmlow t dot com is the website
for Synergenics where you need to go because the medical
providers there exclusively specialize in customized testosterone treatment and they
make it quick and easy to get your levels checked.
And at Cynergenics you're gonna get your results back at

(01:26:57):
your very first visit. That's why you want to go
with them to book your apartment online. They've got clinics
all over town and you're gonna be in the care
of the professionals who are gonna taylor treatment to you.
And fixmlow t dot com for Centergenics at fixmlow t
dot com. Yeh, lunchtimers, this is the Matt Thomas show.

(01:27:18):
Strouded the slant. He's got Diggs who's got a.

Speaker 3 (01:27:21):
Touchdown Stefan Diggs his first touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:27:24):
As a member of the Houston Texas and it.

Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
Gives Houston aumat at first step mix it, d Estein
Budding left takes it in for a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:27:36):
Show mix it having a fifth day.

Speaker 3 (01:27:39):
Here on opening Sunday at the twenty twenty four season.

Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
And if they don't make it here, they gotta go
ninety eight yards.

Speaker 3 (01:27:46):
To get in the rigs a fourth and goal, Stroud throws.

Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
God touchdown steped on Diggs, his second of the game,
and Ryans knowles that Dyson.

Speaker 5 (01:27:58):
It pays off what's happening up front and makes you
catchy chilpie.

Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
Third and eleven. Strata fires and it is breaking up
my shouldes. But on the Suns College, they've got it. Unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (01:28:14):
This is an unreal catch by Nico Collins.

Speaker 1 (01:28:22):
How does he make that grab? In all seriousness, concentration, accuracy, hands,
Anthony Richard can't make that throw? Well he didn't. Now
he can throw deep bombs m but short to intermediate

(01:28:42):
needs work for Anthony Richards a little bit, a little bit,
a lot of bit, a lot of bit. Parterwoo knew
what he knew was gonna be like come out of
college athleticism. You not questioned. No best play for him
beyond the bombs was the was the rush of the touchdown.
I mean I thought he was topp at the two
yard line. He's like, get out of my way. I'll
take tacklers with me and we're gonna fall in the endzone.

(01:29:03):
The score he was very good, yeah, but not good
enough to win nop So if Levis does not pan
out in Tennessee. I don't think he will. And Lawrence
is really not gonna get any better than he already is.
Are we gonna just pencil Texans Colts for the next
half dozen years? You think in the AFC South? I
would think so with the Texans with the favorite Like,

(01:29:23):
when is Lawrence going to really become the the guy
that we kept thinking he was going to be? Remember
when he Remember when he came out of Clemson, it
was this is a generational type quarterback. And I hate
to use the term generational because every time somebody gets
pointed with the word generational, it never seems to work.
It was really bad his first year. His second year
is when they they won a playoff game. It was
when he went through four interceptions in the first week

(01:29:45):
of a playoff game and in the first half came
back and through four touchdowns and you're like, Okay, Trevor
Lawrence has arrived. He's ready. There was a lot of
hype surrounding him last year, Doug Peterson as coach, all
this stuff, and he looked like just a guy. Now
last year at Calvin Rid, he did drop a lot
of passes. There were he doesn't operate very good out
of uh pockets that aren't clean. I think they tried

(01:30:07):
to sign some guys in the offensive, not a great
improvisational player at all, and he looked like just a
guy against the Miami defense. That I mean, they lost
Christian Wilkins. They're they're not as good over there as
they were last year. No, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
I'm worried about it because he's my fantasy quarterback in
our workley. Yeah, well I had justin he wasn't Herbert
throwing for like ninety one yards? I mean, you tried
to make the shrewd move and sit Brock party against
the Jets defense, and the Toros lost. I forget who
they lost to, but they lost this week. They lost.
They lost to you. Oh is that right?

Speaker 4 (01:30:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:30:44):
Okay, that's one week.

Speaker 4 (01:30:48):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:30:48):
Also, I have not brought up today in the two
hours and eight minutes have been on the air. What
happened you brought up? Speaking of losses? Who's that? Your
your team? What team team villar Real? What are you
talking about? Vegas?

Speaker 6 (01:31:01):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:31:01):
Okay, yeah, the Survivor pool. Yeah, we picked the biggest
favorite on the slate and they lost. It happens. I
didn't bring it up because you know, I'm a nice person.
Why would you bring that that has nothing to do
with I brought up something that's between us and our
iHeart leak.

Speaker 15 (01:31:14):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
I think that you picking New England since I needed
to beat New England a discussion point, but I didn't
want to bring it up. Okay. You know they call
him mister Classic. Okay, and that's good. Well, if that
makes you feel better about your fantasy lost, I'm gone
happy for you.

Speaker 9 (01:31:28):
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (01:31:28):
I'm done with fantasy after this year. No, stop do
this to myself. Don't have the song of dads for
three years. I'm sick of it.

Speaker 13 (01:31:37):
Stop.

Speaker 1 (01:31:38):
I'm really tired of it. Come on, I don't want
to do anymore. You have to come on? Who else?
What else are you going to talk to doctor rote about?
You haven't fixed your team every week for half the segment.
By the way, he's the one who tell me to
not pick a quarterback to the sixth round, and my
quarterbacks are prety and averar. Herbert Herbert probably should have
taken body in New Orleans. I bet they do. Maybe
I just start picking a best quarterback. You should who

(01:32:01):
was the best quarterback yesterday? Was the CJ the best
quarterback Josh? Fantasy wise, it was probably Josh Allen, Josh Allen,
and then probably Anthony Richardson was up there, and then
Jayden Daniels actually ran for two touchdowns. Yeah, but that
was all in garbage time. Yeah, but it doesn't matter
on fantasy. Garbage points count in fantasy. Another guy took
a Fox demotion. Darryl Johnson was the number two broadcaster

(01:32:23):
on Fox. Yes so he goes, not that I think
a lot of people care about this, but I'm always
curious about television. He goes from being the number two guy,
call him the second best game of the week to
calling Washington Tampa Bay that was the fifth game of
the week out of the sixth they had. Really, Yeah,
I always thought Daryl Johnson was good. I thought, I
think he is good. But yeah, everybody moved out of

(01:32:47):
the way. So Tom bradyn't get in there, at least
in our league. Top quarterbacks Alan Mayfield, Daniels, Richardson, Jackson,
and then Derek carrs pick up Derek Carr, by the way,
it has cool. Why didn't Gordy come in the show today?
To brag about his belove at New Orleans Saints. Yeah,
they crushed the pack that was thirty to nothing before
you sat down and had your second U order of cracklings. Hm.

(01:33:11):
See how many orders of cracklings?

Speaker 4 (01:33:14):
Are you?

Speaker 9 (01:33:14):
Good?

Speaker 1 (01:33:14):
Buff? You're up thirty nothing? You need a second batch?
Bryce Young? Mmmm, They're like, oh, we got them. Deontay
Johnson should be better. New coaching staff Dave Canal Dave
canow I heard all season Dave Canalis is really gonna
I mean he is a brilliant play caller. He's gonna
have these Panthers offense. Yeah, like a well oiled machine.

(01:33:35):
And they fell flat on their face. Now, I didn't
watch much of that because it was opposite the Texas game,
so I don't really know how he did. You don't
need it, but the numbers didn't sound like they were
overly impressed. He looked terrible. Okay, So let's just real
quick in this last couple of minutes of this segment,
what are your biggest takeaways? Let me give you mind
on a nutshell in the Texans CJ just a CJ

(01:33:57):
things keeps plays alive, beyond Impressed with Joe Mixon, beyond
impressed with the holes that were given to him, alert running,
beyond impressed with the clutch plays that were made, beyond
impressed the fact that Tay Digg and the Tay Diggs
Stefan Diggs would have come in and did such a
great job so fast, and that you could move the

(01:34:19):
ball around, everybody could get a touch. We mentioned the
fact that Tank was the last of the of the
receivers to get a lot of run. That could be
changing on a week to week basis. What I wasn't
impressed about is I thought the pass defense got burned
frankly too much. You can't allow three fifty yard plays
in a game and expect to survive. Number two. Oh,

(01:34:39):
by the way, Fairburn hitting the three fifty yarders like
they were nothing was very impressive too. The special teams
block punt devastating Probably won't happen again, you would hope not.
You hope to get that fixed. And then number three,
I thought the offensive line did not protect c J
very much. And CJ scrambled for his life way too much,
including one play when was that second half where he

(01:35:00):
running running, running right to the sideline, throws across his
body to the middle of the field. I believe it
was Nico there for a catch. I remember, I think
you're right, but that is oh my god, why is
he making this throw? And then nine would you say, Rossie,
Nine times out of ten those balls are picked off.
They tell you not to make those throws. But yeah, CJ.
Stroud made that throw and it worked out all right.
Anything else forgetting Yeah, Kenyon Green was good. I was

(01:35:22):
encouraged by that. And then Joe. I think the headliner
has got to be Joe Mixon. Joe Mixon for sure.
For a guy that barely took part in practiced much
less play in the preseason, he was unbelievable. Set the tone.
And your top three receivers Dell, Digs and Collins got eight,
not in that order, but Collins, Dell, Digs eight, seven

(01:35:43):
and six targets. That's how that's how it's gonna be.
You're gonna pepper and they all work different ways. They're
all great in different ways. And that's why I think
the passing attack is gonna be so good. Not to
be negative on net Nancy here in the last ten seconds,
but all the things we just said, three headed monster, Yes,
great running game mm hmm, and you won by two points.
Any any cause for red Ross on that road, Anthony

(01:36:05):
Richardson is good. You also had the block punt as
an issue. You outgained them by one hundred yards. I
think I put the stats on my Twitter. I can't
remember what the first down count. You're very well ahead
and you had forty minutes of possession to twenty. It's
just the explosive plays that killed you. Yeah, okay, so
just get rid of exposed. The number of explosive plays
has to be the most alarming thing that comes out

(01:36:25):
of the game yesterday. All right, you're gonna watch the
Jets and Niners? Is it on ABC tonight?

Speaker 4 (01:36:30):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:36:30):

(01:38:24):
nineteen on Sports Talk seven. I Needy, Joe Spotto will
be on the radio program tomorrow. Gut Feelings will be
on tomorrow the season debut of Ross's NFL rewind We're back.
Maybe will you find little anecdotal things, yes, including Tyreek
Hill's arrest yesterday on the way to the ballgame and celebration.

(01:38:44):
Yeah during the game. That was actually pretty fun. I
didn't think about it.

Speaker 8 (01:38:47):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:38:47):
And then we'll obviously run through what happened tonight between
the Jets and the Niners. Gut feeling on Aaron Rodgers
NFL career is a Jet. A lot of folks love
the Jets making the playoffs this year. I'm thinking like
twenty five touchdowns, ten interceptions and with that defense, that's
good enough to get to the playoffs.

Speaker 8 (01:39:06):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
Running back too, Breese Hall's amazing Breece Hall's very good.
Garrett Wilson is a good running back, I mean a
wide receiver. Could they be a sneaky AFC team? Come
playoffe they could?

Speaker 4 (01:39:16):
Okay?

Speaker 10 (01:39:18):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:39:18):
And then we got Chas McCormick on the radio show tomorrow.
So we got a busy two s. Wow. I mean,
we just keep cranking out great shows here on The
Man Thomas Show twelve to three, Sports Talk seven ninety.
I loove when you go to your promo voice guy,
thank you. It's like somethings like I'm talking to two
different people in the same studio seven one three, two
one two five, seven ninety. Jacob on seven ninety two

(01:39:41):
to twenty, Hi Jacob, Hey, man, Hey, I will have
seen no. I wonder why anybody's saying that about Joe
Burrow and he's lost. They were he was terrible yesterday.
He was not good and they were fumbling the ball
and turning it over and as Matt brought up in
the last segment, I was very intent and heavily watching
that game and it was disaster.

Speaker 15 (01:40:01):
And Kirk Cousins he is trash. Also, they both only
scored ten points. Now, I haven't given up on the
shun everybody like to sign. But he's still flying too.
On his last seven starts, three of them. That's why
I knew he was gonna say that. But his tools
and starting guards was not playing and he scored seventeen points.

(01:40:25):
They only scored ten. He was playing against a tough
Dallas defense. Who they was playing the Patriots and uh
and I.

Speaker 8 (01:40:31):
Forgot who Atlanta lost tourgh Pittsburgh j defense pretty good.
Absolutely absolutely, that's so that's okay, Okaysburg. All right, man,
thank you, Jacob.

Speaker 1 (01:40:46):
Don't give up on Deshaun Watson. I mean, first of all,
you shouldn't give up on anybody after week one.

Speaker 10 (01:40:50):
Huh No.

Speaker 1 (01:40:51):
But he looked horrible. I mean the throw he was
missing throws, he was panicking in pockets when there was
nobody there overthrowing receivers, thrown balls at a bound crazy
because honestly, there was somebody on the station who said
that Deshaun Watson was going to have a bounce back here.
Who was that? It was me? I remember that, Yeah,

(01:41:12):
it was it was on the Nightcap. Thanks for listening.
We sent in numbers. They're doing pretty well. Actually, anyway,
I do that even Connor's like I had to get
up and meet my apple for that one. It's either
me and I don't know. Dan Matthews on the on
deck whatever it is, six o'clock hours doing well here.
But that's not even what I'm trying to talk about.
But I was like twenty eight years old, a year

(01:41:34):
removed from this shoulder injury. It was actually it was
a segment Dan and I were doing. It's called bold prediction,
So it's not like I was trying to but you
were just supposed to be something crazy. But I thought
writing and I still feel has been one week. What
happened twenty eight years old? A you're removed from the
shoulder injury. I thought he was going to look at
least a little bit better. He looked worse than he

(01:41:56):
ever has been. I mean, is he completely mental ruined
from this scandal? Was it that DeAndre Hopkins and the
Texans receivers just made him look that much better? I
don't know what is going on there. And he was
missing some offensive lineman, as Jacob pointed out, against a
really good pass rush and the Dallas Cowboys. But he

(01:42:18):
looked lost. He looked worse than some of the rookies.
It was bad and the boot Birds rot very quickly. Oh,
by the way, those fans were not happy. How about
the fact that you listened to that game. And first
of all, this happens with any Dallas game. The thousands
of Cowboy fans that make their way to every road game, Yes,
they're everywhere. You would think for a team that has

(01:42:40):
such little postseason success in the last twenty five years
would start to diminish its national popularity. Still the most
Forbes of evaluations every year, Cowboys is a number are
the number one in evaluation, and their fan base is
huge and they're in every city. They're like cockroaches, you
know what it is, though, it's gotta be the men

(01:43:03):
and women that where the round when the Cowboys were
winning their Super Bowls are now having children. It's their parents.
I think you a lot of it. So it's got
to be an older group. Yeah, there's nobody. I mean,
maybe it's like huge Dak Prescott fans in the last
five years. But they disappoint every year. I don't know.

(01:43:25):
I don't know how it happens and how it keeps
going good on them. They keep getting disappointed every Because
the Yankees are generational fans. Yes, Cowboys probably are generational.
I don't think it's any argument to it. I mean,
for a team that routine. I mean, they got embarrassed
in the wild Card around last year, Dak Prescott. Every
year seems to disappoint in the most important games by

(01:43:47):
Jordan Love and the Packers. Yeah, and yet you had
thousands and thousands of Cleveland fans the game yesterday, Cowboys
fans in Cleveland Cowboys fans. Let's say, yeah, it some
if they had won two Super Bowls in the last
ten years, I buy it. Like for instance, the New
England Patriot national mistique Gonzo, it was there for a while.

(01:44:11):
They were America's team for a while, I would say,
for sure, But it hasn't been that way for at
least the last five years. Ever, since Tom left, it's
been pretty nasty. By the way, speaking of that Tom's
old team, the Bucks, I watched some of that Washington
Tampa Bay game. Sports Touch on Twitter. Bentons that Baker
Mayfield look really good. He actually does. Can I tell
you who my favorite? Manders suck? They do suck, But

(01:44:34):
Mayfield looked really and Mike Evans is still fantastic. Yes,
he has two touchdowns. Yeah, are we sleeping on the Bucks?
They won a playoff game last year? Said this, tell
me who the most dominant team is in the NFC.
We're gonna go Lions, the Niners or Lions or Niners.
I say Niners and the Lions. I mean they played
in the NFC Championship phill least third the Lions are

(01:44:58):
I mean, okay, it went to overtime, but that offensive
line they just they just denominated the Rams at the
end of that game.

Speaker 7 (01:45:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:45:08):
I think the NFC is very wide open. I really do.
And so I'm saying if I I'm not ready to
say the Bucks could be a sneaky championship team, cow
was why not? I would go pecking order right now? Yeah, NFC, Niners, Lions,
and then who do you have third? You could go
four different options and be very happy with all of them.

(01:45:29):
Two twenty six, on Sports Talk seven ninety, Josh wants
to get into what happened yesterday at Minute Maye Park.
What happened? I totally forgot. The game was over after
three innings after somebody I had never heard of it,
not one, not two, but three home runs by Wait,
how many uniforms do the Diamondbacks have eleven or twelve
seventeen every day they were in something different, They're all

(01:45:50):
equally attornation. Look good. You talk about a franchise that
can't figure it out. Their uniforms have sucked for decades.
That they've been around for decades, But ever since they've
been around, they've sucked. Even when they were those World
Series ones with the purple and green like oh one,
the pinstripes. But I mean Luis Gonzales. Remember that one
year they would wear like the dark dark grays in

(01:46:10):
the uniform. Oh they were like sheen and they have
snake print on them. Yeah, they still wear those are No,
I don't know. I gotta go look up twenty twenty
four Diamondback uniforms. Okay, it's gotten two billion results. Hold on,
that's right. Can I take a boy? Game Day Men's Health.
I had such a good time meeting some of the

(01:48:52):

hand out. I was burping. Yeah, we heard it, I
said to my Mike God Joshua in the heights of
two thirty five on seven out of josh good afternoon.
I may call you. Let me call you, Joshua. I
can call you none of the above. Okay, hello, Joshua

(01:49:12):
could talk.

Speaker 9 (01:49:14):
Great.

Speaker 7 (01:49:15):
I just wanted to give my input on Justin Verlander
and is pitching recently and what it should be in
the off season. He's I mean, he has one of
the worst eras I've ever seen in a World Series.
And Renel Blanco has proven himself time and time again
throughout this season. So what are your all thoughts on
starting Renel Blanco instead of Justin Verlander this coming post seasons?

Speaker 1 (01:49:39):
You know what, there's a very well good chance, Joshua,
that neither one of them starts. I think Kacucci has
supplanted Renewe Blanco in the rotation. Little a little fun
here on the show we Go. They're playing a log
card round, Yes, game one of the log card well
feature from very easy Game. Now, you know, here's the problem.

(01:50:05):
We don't know how the last week's gonna shape up.
That's true. If they're playing important games and Fromberg or
whoever we go to next gets used up, then we're
talking about an ideal scenario. You know what you should do?
What should we do?

Speaker 4 (01:50:17):
Now?

Speaker 1 (01:50:17):
I have something to do tonight, so I can't do this,
but you have nothing to do? Okay? You could also
in the nightcap at six o'clock you're on Sports Talk seven,
do it live on the do it Live on the
night cap. You could project the rest of the way
because they're going they're going to a six man rotation
starting in the mind. No, they're going to six. Oh,

(01:50:38):
they're going back to six, going back. You could do it.
That sounds like a lot of work. So let's let's
forget about this. Let's say we get we get to
we get to schedule the way we want to. Okay,
from Ber Game one, Game one, Hunter, Hunter game two,
Hunt a Brown Game two, Easy Call Game three, because

(01:50:58):
you have to have one, you say, or arrag Getty
who got bombed his last time? You say, gave up
four runs his last time. Verlander gave up eight runs
his last time. Not like anybody if we're going off
their last starts, did great. That's why you can't. You
can't go off the last starts. I'm going to go

(01:51:19):
with the veteran picture that I trust most, and his
name is Yusai Kahkucci. Okay. We're going with usay from
Hello Goodbye, not from Lisa loebe okay. And I'm still
waiting for Connor to give us that sounder. That's fine,
he's busy. He does a great Chiant song is like
eighty years old. Yeah, but it's a better than you say.

(01:51:40):
That's it. That's my boy right there. All right, So
you got to go to three to win the division
series to go to the division series. Yeah, you get
one day off and you started the division series. Okay,
who starts game one Division series? So how many one
to three days the rest for fromber? Don't do it.

(01:52:05):
You can't do that. Matter of fact, I'm getting my
calendar out right now. Just make sure to keep you
on the track. Who do I want? Or who will
it be? Who do it's going to be?

Speaker 4 (01:52:15):
So here we go.

Speaker 1 (01:52:17):
Season ends September twenty ninth. First playoff game is Tuesday,
second game is Wednesday. Third wildcard game if they have it,
is went Thursday. You're off Friday and then Saturday ten
five starts Division game number one, which means if only
three days rest for Fromber, you're not doing that. You

(01:52:38):
get a long you got a long postseason run, so
we know then game two would be Fromber, Game three
would be Hunter. Game four would likely be your game
three starter, you say in the wild card. So you're
starting one and five, and then if you needed a game,

(01:53:00):
if he needed, if he needed, if you needed a
game five in the division series, you could go back
to from Spencer Araghtty, I'm done justin Maurice Alexander says,
or Verlanders has give me one more chance, give me
two more chances. We'll see how he pitches. Going to six. Man,

(01:53:21):
I'm still not feeling great and blocks moment. Block was
like man ify wing from my ass, you wouldn't be
where you are today. Exactly why you leave me out
of this? It seems like the organ organizationally bumping him
to the bullpen. They're most worried about his workload, and
the easiest reason why they would move into the bullpen
is because he's done it before. Right where you've never
seen Verlind in the bullpen before. Hunter's done it. Before.

(01:53:42):
But Hunter's pitching so well from where you're not doing it, Cocucci,
I want to say, has been a bully guy before, right, yes,
but he's actually pitched small enough to be a start.
I just think unless you're getting a lot of like
batted ball luck, there's not a lot of scenarios I
can pull up in my brain where you have justin
Verland going out there and throwing six innings of one
run ball. I can easily because of the swing and miss,

(01:54:04):
because of the way that he's composed himself the last
couple of months. I can easily see Spencer Arraghetty giving
you six innings of one run ball. Can I give
you and both of them can get shelled? Can I
give you a scenario that has not popped up much?
But could you're certain you say you want to start?
You saying game three?

Speaker 10 (01:54:22):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:54:22):
Yes? What do we talk about with what's his name? About?
What his problems were before he got here? Who's that?
Tell him? Connora? What do you mean his problem the
amount of home runs he gave up to Ryan handed hitters.

(01:54:43):
That's correct? Same three would be at Minute Made Park
with the Crawford box kit boxes, short porch Okay, does
that give you any concern about what's his name?

Speaker 9 (01:54:56):
Say?

Speaker 1 (01:54:59):
Uh, I'm just throwing it out there, not saying that.
I'm just saying I could. That's something to consider. Is
that fair to say? It's fair to say, Okay, it's
fair for you to say, for who to say, you
to say. I want to applaud the two of us
for not making any Cakuchi references when we were doing that,

(01:55:19):
even accidentally you made a bad one. Accidentally what was it?
I can't remember. It doesn't matter, No, it was I'm
not worthy of repeating.

Speaker 4 (01:55:32):
What.

Speaker 1 (01:55:32):
Okay, Well I gave my answers, by the way, we
did not get yours. Matthew, I would take Kakuchie over
Arrogatty in a game three in game four, I mean
or you mean game one one? Sorry, division the fourth game,
which would be Game one of the Division series, the
Division series starting now for your U said Astros, I mean,

(01:55:55):
can we can we throw a Blanco back in the mix?

Speaker 10 (01:55:58):
Or is that?

Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
Or is that crazy? But I just don't think it's
gonna happen. We're talking about what we think will happen.
Well it should have Well, Well, okay, okay, we can
do both. I guess I would say is currently put
together that the playoffs started tomorrow, and he's shaping up
as if they started tomorrow. You're going to give arrogated

(01:56:19):
the ball before you're going to give it to Erlander.
I agree, because you've already defaulted by putting block on
the bullpen in the last handful of games, although basically
with now going back to a six man, you're kind
of giving a chance putting. Maybe come down to the
nuance of the lineups. Matchups, matchup lineups, Yeah, lineup matchups.
Start calling you, mister MLB network over here, mister quick pitch.

(01:56:42):
By the way, shout out to that girl, Taylor mathis
real quick. Who is that? That's the girl that walks
around with her ample breast moving around, uh, making picks.

Speaker 8 (01:57:08):
