I launched The Taoist Online on Medium to share wisdom, growing it to 190,000 monthly viewers with diverse writers. On June 1, 2025, I’m moving The Taoist Online there as a newsletter for philosophy and spirituality.

My first daughter taught me a lot of life lessons. One I didn’t expect, though, was how intuitive babies and children can be of their parents’ emotional state. As it turns out, 2,500 years ago, a Chinese philosopher already knew and wrote a funny story about how we, as followers of Tao, can know others by forgetting ourselves! Listen to learn more!

My wife loves puzzles, but our house is so chaotic that we always lose one piece, so the puzzle can’t be completed! Sometimes, my life feels like that, too. However, in life, we aren’t missing any pieces. See how my wife’s perspective on her missing piece compares to the Taoist concept of the uncarved block.
