Today could be a pivotal day in the long road
to get a new contract for the Chicago Teachers Union. Now,
you know every year this comes around and as always
a back and forth pushing about you know, the contract.
But if the bargaining plans move forward this week, this
will be the first time in over a decade that
the Chicago Teachers Union reached a new contract without going

on strike. So their big bargeting team will review a
package of contract proposals. Now, if they'll approve the proposals,
they'll then be considered by the ctu's executive board. From there,
if they approve those agreements. It moves to the union's
House of Delegates for potential vote this Wednesday. So the
talks have been going well. They've been talking about veteran

educator pay, elementary school teacher prep time, and teacher evaluations.
So they're really trying to give veteran teachers a little
bit more money and the process of evaluating teachers.

To pay them more money as well.

So there's questions of how CPS will pay for the
long term contract beyond the first year or the expected
four to five percent annual teachers raises and staffing increases
for Liburian and teachers assistance. So ctu's full membership will
still be needed for an agreement to be finals. So
they either got to be all in or it ain't happening.

Today could be a pivotal day in the long road
to get a new contract for the Chicago Teachers Union. Now,
you know every year this comes around and as always
a back and forth pushing about you know, the contract.
But if the bargaining plans move forward this week, this
will be the first time in over a decade that
the Chicago Teachers Union reached a new contract without going

on strike. So their big bargeting team will review a
package of contract proposals. Now, if they'll approve the proposals,
they'll then be considered by the ctu's executive board. From there,
if they approve those agreements. It moves to the union's
House of Delegates for potential vote this Wednesday. So the
talks have been going well. They've been talking about veteran
(02:24):
educator pay, elementary school teacher prep time, and teacher evaluations.
So they're really trying to give veteran teachers a little
bit more money and the process of evaluating teachers.

To pay them more money as well.

So there's questions of how CPS will pay for the
long term contract beyond the first year or the expected
four to five percent annual teachers raises and staffing increases
for Liburian and teachers assistance. So ctu's full membership will
still be needed for an agreement to be finals. So
they either got to be all in or it ain't happening.
