Speaker 2 (01:33):
Let's go. Hey, Ben, it's been a while, you go,
what was the last time we did a show.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
I feel like it's been more than a normal two weeks.
I could look back maybe three weeks or four weeks.
But it's all good. It's wrestling season. We're really busy.
I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I thought, I thought Luise canceled this.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
I almost you know what, I almost texted you doing
just like an NCA previews show, just because you know
it would be fun and you know we like talking
about wrestling.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
We should have done that. That's something we should have done.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Hey, I thought, I thought, I actually thought Louise canceled.
Was I thought you got a call from the higher up?
So it was like fucking the jams over.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
No, no, no, cancel. They can't do that anymore. When we
talked about this on the last show, hey.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Do you remember?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Do you do you remember we started this a while ago? Doude,
we started this show?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, I mean three. Yeah, it's been over a year
and a half.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
We started doing jams, and do you know that they
made us do a proof of concept?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Do you remember that old deal?

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I do remember that. Well, you had a I remember
the first time I came on. You want to do
something called like three rounds or something.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Well, I still do that. I do that, still still
does well, still well we would have went three rounds, arguing,
going back and forth. I do that myself. I need
to get back to doing that. That takes some time, right,
you gotta write scripts and all this other stuff. But
for Funking the Champ, we had to do a proof
of concept. They made us do five shows to see
if it worked before they would start to.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Pay you in everything. Do you remember that?

Speaker 1 (03:07):
You don't remember our first show? Luisa's saying it was
December twelve, twenty twenty two. That's wild, huh, that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
We've done two years in the gym. That's crazy crazy.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
And also it's been fun, but it's not hard to
do a show whenever stuff like this happens.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Yes, bro.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Connor is a politician though too funny.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
I want to you know, I want to pat myself
on the back since our first show, probably December twelve,
twenty twenty two. I've been saying, the dude is gonna
fight again. I've been saying it for a really long time.
I think it's more likely now than ever. He's in
the White House being a politician. I like to wait,
he juiced up Trump. He's like, Matt can't in Irish accents,

(03:55):
I'm not even gonna try.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
But he's like, I like.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Your work ethic, I'm inspired by your work ethic, Like
he would juice and Trump up.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
It was awesome.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
You know what's the craziest thing about it. You know
what's the craziest thing about it? That you watched it?
Like you actually watched it. What are you doing?

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (04:11):
I watched the highlights on Twitter. You know that.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
That's what I did, was watching it. Oh, you don't listen.
You don't think that what I said was funny, Like
he was juicing.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
He's like, very funny.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
But I'm saying, like, I'm inspiring watching McGregor's press conference.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Why are you watching it?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
It was him and Trump, not the press conference, him
and Trump. It was great.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
He was inspired. He was inspired by Trump's work ethic.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Bro So, I saw I saw, uh, I saw Connor
McGregor his picture, and I was like, wait, where's he at?
So then I scrolled down and I see that he
was at the White House. So I said, this has
to be some kind of joke, right because it looked

(04:57):
like he was holding a press conference.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Ah, he did that too, Yes, I believe.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
And I just was like, first, I was like, oh
my god, was he had the White I was like,
what's going on here? And then I started to think,
oh my god, Ben and I are doing our show tomorrow.
He's going to pat himself on the back. Because now
I think, Ben, I think, Ben, Yes.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
I'm ready to admit. I think it's over. Bro, I
think it's I think it's over.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
It's a hell of a redemption story because Connor, you
remember Connor was he was the man of the Irish people,
Like do you remember some of those early fights, how
many like the whole damn country would come to Vegas
for when Connor would fight. It was insane. And then
kind of like people kind of got sick of his act,
and you know, he's always just up to Shenanigans.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Got to fight with the old guy.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
He fight the old guy.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
He punched the old guy, that type of stuff. But
now he's gonna be a hebro of the Irish people
because you know he's he's he's gonna be a populist
leader for the country of Island.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
It seems like that dude's.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Getting like the president next go yet he's gonna be
a president prime minister. I don't know what they have
over there. That man's gonna be the Prime Minister of
Island next time around bank on it.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
No, you're crazy, but like it's I think I'm ready.
I think I'm ready to admit he's done.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
It's like he made he made Michael Chandler. He made
Michael Chandler wait all that time, never fought him. Charles
Olivera seems or was saying he'd rather fight Connor McGregor,
did even fight for the championship. Charles Olivera now openly
goes I think it's over, But it feels like everybody

(06:39):
is kind of coming over to the side of I
think Connor McGregor is done. But when you see that
man and we joke about it, right, we joke about
comin Vicgregor's done kind of just kind of. But is
it sad that a guy that came on and he
was a lightning rod and he brought so many eyes

(07:00):
the sport of mixed martial arts. Is it kind of
sad that it is that way?

Speaker 2 (07:03):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
He's at the White House and he might have some
big things. I can't I'm not buying it to the
fact that CON's gonna be a politician.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Forget that. I'm not doing it in Ireland. Fuck, I'm
not doing that. I'm just not doing that. But isn't
that sad that like it ended the way it did.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Yeah, I'll say yes and no. You know, who knows.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Maybe he turns the corner, unless he's been doing shenanigans,
but maybe he turns the corner and becomes a great
leader of Ireland. That could be a great second act
for him. There's been other fighters or sports people who
have become great business people. But yeah, you know, I
was talking to a younger fighter the other day about
how how fast it goes, and I mean, you're kind
of crazy because you didn't start till you're thirty one

(07:46):
or something, which is totally wild, but it is like
your prime for most people to say like thirty to
thirty five, and for a while you feel like I
got forever. I got forever. I don't need to rush
these fights. And then you know, for me, it's like, man,
I only fought.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Twenty one times, Like, yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Wish I put have fought more. I wish I had
more active and you know, I never turned down fights.
It wasn't really my choice that I wasn't super active,
whether belt or went championship, but it does. It goes
by really fast, and so yeah, with Connor, he came,
you know, so fast and so strong, and then it
was just like layoff after a layoff, after a layoff,
and now he's like thirty six maybe or something.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Yeah, he's getting older, but even at that point he
could still fight. Probably can't you can't fight the small guys.
But for me it's kind of sad because it is.
But it's like when a guy comes and he's that
successful and he's that good, you hope that the last
time you see him in the octagon is him fighting,
even even if bro it's him losing. You don't want

(08:48):
the last memory of him and the octagon is him
sitting on the ground with a broken leg yelling at Dustin.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Bourier's wife was preposterous, was that not?

Speaker 3 (08:57):
It was the craziest vision I've ever seen, because it
was almost like it felt like when he got here,
everything he did was fresh and new, and it felt genuine.
And then he went to nice Connor with him and
Dustin fought novel Dabi. That was more preposterous than him.

(09:21):
Nice Connor was more preposterous than him doing what he
did after the fight with Dustin the second time, because
he was holding Dustin's liquor.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
They were hugging each other.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
It was the most odd thing I've ever seen, because
that's not what we had to come to expect from
Connor McGregor.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
He gets beat by Dustin Pourier.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Then he goes all the way back to the other guy,
but even more to the right. He was more like,
He was more loud, he was more obnoxious, He was
nasty talking about Dustin's.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Wife and all these things. He was more nasty. So
then even that felt forced.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
And then when he broke his leg, he was sitting
on the ground yelling and screaming. It was almost like
he was a rich guy that didn't get his way
and there was nothing he could do about it, and
he was acting out because of it. That's like a
sad visual for me. After all that he became to
the sport of mixed marshal arts.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Yeah, I mean that was said, and then it'll be
it would have been nice to see him give back
in there and do something better.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
But yeah, so he fought, then I slipped up.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
He fought three times in twenty fifteen and then three
times in twenty sixteen. Right, so that with the culmination
made Eddie Alvres fighting Madison Square Garden winning a second title.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
But then it's been eight and a half years.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
How many times had he fought in the last eight
and a half years after the Eddie album?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Okay, so I'll tell you he fought could be Dustin
Potier eight, Dustin Poyer three times.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Then you forgot one.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Oh cowboys, serony.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Cowboys four times, four times, eight and a half years.
That's a very active too many layoffs.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Yeah, the layoffs and the injuries, and just like that,
life seemed to have gotten him. Like yeah, bros, it's
crazy because I'm telling you, dude, like there was nothing
like Connor McGregor. And even to day I didn't realize
he was only thirty six. I'm taking it back I'm
taking it back.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
No you care. I didn't realize.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
No, I didn't realize he was only gonna be thirty
seven in July.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
That ain't I didn't realize he was only thirty six.
I thought he was older.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
That's not young, Daniel. You're a heavyweight, so you have
different ear years up there.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
He's thirty six. I think he's fighting again. I think
I think he and I okay.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Like William Wallace leading William Wallace. He's Scottish though not Irish.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Right, I'm twisted. I'm twisted, says No, I don't know
who williams.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
Oh, my goodness, you gotta watch some Brave Heart.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
I don't know what that is. You Braveheart?

Speaker 4 (11:40):
The movie?

Speaker 2 (11:41):
I've Braveheart. I've never seen Braveheart? Are you kid?

Speaker 4 (11:45):
Right now?

Speaker 2 (11:45):
I swear to god, I've never seen.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
My goodness, you gotta go watch the movie. It's I
believe he's actually scott Okay, So I'm gonna ask.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
You the question. I'm gonna ask you a question. Have
you ever seen Minister Society?

Speaker 1 (11:56):
I have?

Speaker 2 (11:56):
But it's no, you haven't.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Yes, I have. It was here's talk. Oh it's Chris Sucker, right,
Chris Tucker.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
That's Friday, dude. See that's how I know. That's how
I know.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Now it's I'm looking it up. I was like sixteen, Dan,
you got five years ago.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Yeah, what did Brave Heart come out? What did Brave
Heart come out?

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:17):
But you're old and stuff, but it doesn't matter. It's like, hi, society,
are you sure it's not Chris Tucker.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
No, it's not Chris Tucker. Yeah, it's ice Cube. You
never see. No, it's not ice Cube, ice Cube?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Oh who's busting out ice cub Friday? Is it's Samuel
I'm looking at right now.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
I don't really know Samuel Jackson. It's it's yes, it's
with Cubanantting Junior. Sorry, hey see, you can't ask me.
Like everybody's seen when I grew up where I grew up,
we watched it. It's a society you didn't, So stop
acting dude, like we all see or had the same
experiences growing up.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Like he was Scottish. I looked it up Scottish Warrior.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
But I don't know. I just haven't seen Braveheart. But
don't act surprised that I had.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
That's what Connor's gonna do right now.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
You're so crazy.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Hey, Ben, I have this next topic I want to
talk to you about. This is very important, Like we're
hitting like it's been so long. We're talking about topics
that we talked about for a really long time.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Yes, but I want to tie this to this one.
So did you see last week when ESPN the pay
per view thing was broken? Did you?

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Man, hell yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:21):
That was bad. And I'm an ESPN guy.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
That was really really bad to not be able to
do paper views, especially in the year where they're redoing
the television rights. Right, so everybody's like assuming that the
UFC is going to Netflix and all this other stuff.
My question to you is this, though, when the UFC sold,

(13:45):
I think it was twenty sixteen or fifteen, it was
the same year that.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
And the ESPN deal started to come about.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
I think it started in nineteen, but when the UFC sold,
it was in twenty and sixteen. Bro, It's important to
have your biggest stars available in those contract years, right,
because then it makes people go, I want to buy
this for a massive number because I've got to have
these guys. In twenty sixteen when the UFC sold, UFC

(14:17):
two hundred was there. I fought in uf I fought
in two thousand and sixteen a UFC two hundred, Rock
Lesnar fought Connor McGregor fought three times. It was a
year where the uf probably Ronda Rousei No, she was
I think she was still there. I think she fought
Amanda Noons after Man the News became the champion or

(14:37):
had beaten the Misha Tate.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
No, I think want to get it. I'm gonna look
it up for it.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
But now that we're wanna get a business talk about,
I actually think this is a fascinating topic.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
Yes, I feel like UFC.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
And there's been rumors that they're not evenna do pay
per views anymore, which would be crazy, Which would be
crazy because it's been such a staple in for a while.
It was such a like, this is what you're buying.
If you're buying the UFC, you're buying.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
These this is what you wanted as a fighter.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Yes, yeah, you wanted the big pay per viewpoints.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
And yo Rondo was actually in twenty sixteen too, So
in that year you had everybody and John Jones and
I were supposed to headline UFC two hundred. You had
all these great fighters, so it was something you had
to have. Now it doesn't seem like there are many
of those people that you have to have. Yet the
UFC is as successful as it's ever been in the

(15:27):
history of uh the UFC.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Well, I would argue that was kind of Dana's plan,
and it's kind of one I I don't I don't
really like. I don't think it's positive for fighters. But
you know, Dana's plan forever has been to make.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
The UFC this like ubiguous is big. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Yeah, when you turn on the UFC, you're gonna see
a couple good fights and there's a bottom where at
least this many people are fight fans and kind of
regardless who's fighting, they're gonna tune in and watch.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
You don't need these big names.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Every weekend because you know, one of the things Dana
hated the most and he fought against and this is
I can't I can only imagine how many meetings him
and Connor have that were contentious. But when stars get
big enough, they get leverage and they say, well, no,
I want this or I want that, And we see
it in boxing where these guys are making crazy money yep,
And Dana never really allowed that to happen in the UFC.

(16:14):
That's one of the reasons that the UFC is so
profitable for them and the owners. But I would I
would argue, and I think you know pretty correctly that
it is negative to the fighters.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Okay, Like I was saying, though, this is like, this
is talking like television rights and making the product valuable.
With Perreira losing, right, who's the biggest star and the
person that you think drives pay per view for the UFC.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
But I would argue the UFC's passed that. I would
argue that the UFC is going to put.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
On there's a person that still drives pay per view, Okay, exactly.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
So heavyweight, Oh, I know we're talking about John Jones exactly.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
So how important is it now? Right? How important is
it now?

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Because the rumor was John Jones is gonna fight Tom
Aspinall in July at International Fight Week, the big blowout
that will sell them boatload of pay per view as
the deal starts to get to the end of the year.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Yeah, John Jones just said three minutes ago that.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
The window for fighting in July against Tom Aspinall may
be passing because he feels he needs six months.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
So you know what this is.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
This is exactly what we just talked about. What a leverage.
This is leverage.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
John Jones is saying, I know I'm the biggest star
in UFC right now. I know this is the biggest fight,
and I do all and right. Sometimes the biggest fight
is not the biggest star.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
But in this case, it's.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Probably the same as the biggest fight. Yep, the fight
that we want to see the most. The only one
that would be second this would be to pour your
market SCHEV. That's the only other one that is right
in the same level in my opinion. And so John
Jones is saying, well, I want six months, but if
you're gonna if you're gonna make it four months, then
I'm gonna need a little more money.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
He said. But do you think how important is it,
though that the UFC makes this fight?

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Well, I think this is what Dana's been fighting is
I don't I actually don't think it's that important, and
I think Dana. I think Dana has made a point
of I mean, this has been the last fifteen years
of trying to almost like quell the stars, trying to
not let the stars get too big, and like Connor
got too big.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Yeah, but see, I gotta disagree a little bit.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Why is that?

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Because I feel that they did everything to try to
push you into the mainstream, to make you a star.
That's why I was able to do the things that
I did, because they continuously pushed me in front of
people to make me a star.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Bin And that's not me going why I'm a UFC guy.
I love the UFC.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
I was the champion for a long time, so I
know what they did for me as a champion to
try and make sure that I was recognizable.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Dude, I went, I swear to god.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
How many times did you put Dane over the barrel? Though?
And say you want? You know?

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Right?

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Cause I think there's different Like but at the same day,
you and I went into a deal to make a deal.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
The same day I said I want X, Y and
Z and they said no. We we talked about this.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Yeah, I know, but we think of like a uh
so on the other side of this, you know, you
have a Francis and Gandhi which had a very ugly dispute.
You had Connor McGregor, You've had the Diaz brothers. You know,
we've had many people. If I thought about a hearted pie.
Think of another three or four more, especially earlier like
uh Randy Kature was a huge one, really early on

(19:28):
Tito or Tease was a big one. And so you
had these stars that were constantly just doing this with
Dana because Dana didn't want them to have too much
leverage and continuing the stars, right, and so he probably
knew you I'm gonna I don't know if you're gonna
take this as a compliment or a dig It is
meant as a compliment. You are smart, you are intelligent.

(19:48):
You probably knew just how to push just enough to
get mostly what you wanted, but not be a total asshole.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
You know, Yeah, I get it. I get it, Ben,
Because some.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Of these guys are unreasonable. They're saying data is stinking
in his head. Okay, they're paid five million.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
Dana is thinking, okay, he's worth he's probably really worth
eleven million. I'm just throwing numbers out here.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
And the guy comes back, he says, I want twenty
five and yeah, and he's like, oh, okay, this is
fucking ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Yes, yes, yes, and I get it.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
I want nine. And he said, okay, well, I'm he's
worth eleven. He asked for nine. Sure, great deal, let's
do it.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Yes, yes, And that's but that's how negotiations go.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Anytime you have a successful negotiation, both sides feel a
little bit bad about.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
The negotiation, happy a little bit good too.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
You feel good about it, but you're like, I feel
like I left something on the table, and the company
feels like we paid a little bit too much.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
That's what a great negotiation feels like. But at the
end of the day, you go, well, I'm still.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Pretty happy where I where I settled at, even though
it wasn't exactly what I wanted.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
But bro, if John Jones.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Did you take that as a compliment or insult that
I said, you're smart and reasonable and not like.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Some reasonable here here's the deal. Though, we live in
a world where we wrestled for three thousand dollars to
win a tournament, So it's like for me sometimes yes,
less than that. If you didn't win the freaking tournament,
you win the hardest tournament of the summer, the US
almost three grand Bro.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
We were wrestling and.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Everybody loss, and everybody wrestled, and everybody wrestled.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
It wasn't the US Open.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
If today it was like number one to ten was
in that bracket. So yes, I could always call back
to those three thousand dollars. If somebody's offering me three
million dollars, I'm like, oh, I could go back to
making three grand to wrestle our coach wrestling and make
sure to fifty thousand dollars a year if I'm.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Lucky and feel happy about it.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
So yes, I had those experiences to call back on
to make sure I stayed reasonable. But at the end
of the day, those guys do deserve their money, and
I do believe that because of the work that the
UFC does, they are in a position to make that money.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Granted, the fighting skill needs to be there.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
You got to be the champion or you have no leverage,
but once you get there, the work that's put in
allows you to go.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
I need seven figures.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Now, I don't need that. But again, John Jones said
publicly it would take thirty million dollars. Right now, he's
saying money talks, but time I need time.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
I don't see that as I don't see.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
To me, I look at that and I say, John
doesn't really need that much time, John, John hasn't for
more money. He's saying if you want to rush me,
he said, I prefer six months.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
I would no, no, no. John literally said, I'll read
it to you, read to me exactly. I'll read it
to you exactly.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
It said, John Jones wants six months to prepare for
tom Aspinall fight once it's locked in money talks. But
it feels like if summer is the goal, it's starting
to slip away a bit. Money's good, like even if
you bring me the money, the timing is what I

(22:59):
need to fight this guy.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Why do you think that he's just kind.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Of steering into this hole. He just doesn't want to
fight tom assbinal thing because tom Aspall was celebrating after
Pereira lost because he felt like John Jones could not
use Perrera anymore as a crutch to try to make.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
That fight to tom asbitalll one hundred percent? Would you
say that was very helpful to tom Aspinall. I mean
there's nothing else obvious, like now now it's Jones orus Aspinaal,
there's no other option, So yes, that was very helpful
to him. I still think I shall see it that
way as like, I mean, listen, you've done this, You've
done something to other people where you say, listen, here's

(23:35):
what I want. And if you want me to do
something that's a little more inconvenient for myself, then I
want another twenty five percent, or I want another thirty percent.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Like, if you want me to.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Inconvenience myself, I'm fighting three and a half months instead
of six, then you're gonna have to make it worth
my time.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
But there is a number that's worth my time.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Yeah, what do you think that number is for Jones?

Speaker 1 (23:54):
I mean, I don't know what his actual paycheck is,
but I would say, you know, maybe he's asking him
for a twenty thirty forty percent bump something like that.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Do you think that John Jones is worth making paying
fifteen million dollars?

Speaker 1 (24:08):
Oh, I would have to know that the exact metrics.
I would probably say no, and I would go back
to my argument.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Only Connor, right, Only Connor would be worth paying fifty
even know, I mean like I had a twenty two
million dollar gate whenever he pulled out in a fight
with Michael Chandler on the pre sale.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Yes, well, so okay, so there's obviously the gates.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
But I think what UFC is the work, Like you said,
the TV deals can be much more lucrative than that.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Do you imagine Gates?

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Well, so I think I think they're saying is like
they're probably going to a Netflix or right, because that's
the big rumor, is like how many subscribers can we
bring you, right, And so they're looking at like a
total of how many people want how many unique people
watch a UFC event through the course of a whole year,
which is all forty or all forty events, you know,

(24:50):
and that's probably what Netflix is paying on. So I
suppose if there was one really insanely huge event and
to me, that's Connor.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Not John, right, John is well John could be that event.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Tom aspinall could that could be a big one, right
where people who are because you got to think of like,
you know what was a really annoying one that was
that was kind of like this, look, it's so annoying,
Jake Paul Might Tyson. It was every dip shit on
the street had some opinion about it, bro like that
they don't want they don't watch any boxing. That was
the only boxing fight they watched the whole year. But

(25:28):
they remember Mike Tys from nineteen ninety seven. And then
there's this influencer kid. They want to have some opinion.
So it's like that is going to be a unique buy.
Who's not gonna watch any other right, so who who
can cause unique buys for the UFC. That that isn't
gonna happen otherwise. To me, that that's Connor or you know, Brockluster.

Speaker 4 (25:46):
But he's not fighting.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
He's not fighting anymore, almost fifty.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
But I think that they need to make this fight.
I think John's kind of steering into this John. I
think I feel like John likes to play into people
going he's afraid of tom aspinall he doesn't want fight
tom Asbalalal When you and I have discussed this many
many times, He's not afraid of tom Aspal.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
He'll fight tom Athon, you believe me.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
I said he would much prefer to fight someone else.
That was my take last time, like all right your
merril mad I was that listen and I like Steve
Bay So it drove me crazy.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
That I had to He's step An fought like four years.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Yeah it was over bro that was bad.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
That was crazy, so bad he got Oh man, I
really wanted to fight tom Aspal on that one.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Yeah, that's that's uh that's I think it's important.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
I think he's messing around with people, man, and and uh,
I think it's fun for this dude, because this dude's
made a lot of money and he's been the champion
for so long that he really doesn't need he doesn't
need to fight anybody anymore. March Madness is here and
for so many college basketball fans, it is the best time.

Speaker 2 (26:49):

Slash audio boy, you know I got I got shit.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
I got shit on the other day because I said
something about Alex Perreira. I said, I literally just said this,
and here's my explanation. Ben, before I let you go,
I said, I feel like we've kind of maxed out
the weights at which he can go up right, because

(28:36):
his power is so great at middleweight, it was ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Yes, at light.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Heavyweight it was still ridiculous, but guys could take shots.
That's why Khalil Rangtree went so long before he actually
went down, right, I said, at heavyweight, especially after watching Uncle,
I have kind of just stalk him. Yeah, we might
have maxed out the weight at two o five. He's
too slim a little bit. Yeah, they were saying I

(29:03):
switched up on the Lex Perera.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Is that a bad take? Is that a take that?
Does that feel like me sitting on the Lex Perrera?
Is that a bad take?

Speaker 1 (29:13):
No? And I don't think I mean, we've done the
show for a couple of years. I don't think you
ever said that Alex would do well against John Jones
or Tom Aspinall. I think we always said that was
probably not a great fight for him in both those cases.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Yeah, and they're just too big. They're just too big.
Like dude Tom Aspinall is massive. I saw him in England.
I was like, well, this dude is huge, big old shoulders,
big chest, big legs, he's got like he's just a
big guy.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
And I was not crapping on Perreira. Why why, why,
why are people like this bro? And ESPN is beginning
Your boy Lately, Doug. They take my stuff from jail
and I show and they take like a graphic and
they put the words.

Speaker 6 (29:55):
Oh yeah, they take a totally. They did that with
this show too. To me, they put the words yo.
This show gets you clipped off so much. It's crazy.
The stuff that you say. I see everywhere because they.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Take the words and not the actual video of you
explaining what you're saying, because the words leave a lot
for the fan to interpret, and the fan generally will
go God.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Been asking, really does suck?

Speaker 4 (30:20):
That was so dumb? TI, so dumb? Hey, before we
go we got the NCAS week. I just wanted to know.
I want to I want to see your reaction.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
How pumped were you when why Hendrickson got Oklahoma stayed
at the conference title.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
We were in Bro, we were in the conference.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
You and I were texting and we were talking about uh,
you said the support the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
I go.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
I never stopped you go, well, it gotta be much
fun of this year than it's been in years past.
But we were in the midst of going, oh for
four and then it was dude, we were over three
wet to text each other.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
No, we were oh for three.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
When started texting.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Because I was texting you about King, and I was like, dude,
you must be so proud these The dude's on one leg.
You do know one leg?

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Essentially he number one c N double A tournament, and
I knew Dustin Platt was about to get beat by
Parker Kat guys and I knew it.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
So I was like, now we're over four.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
Server is wrestling this. I was like, Okay, Server's gotta
get it done. We need one win.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Surber gets beat so then I go.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Dark on you your textical dark nervous. I'm nervous, right bro.
When he won, so he starts winning. He got hurt though, knock,
he gets reversed by Colton Shoultz and then he gets hurt.
I'm like, oh my god, that would have been the
biggest That would have been the dude oh for six
in the finals would have been crazy. The fact that

(31:38):
we won the Big twelve championship and Andy by the
skin of our team for that matter, makes people ignore
how horrendous a final round Oklahoma State had, who won
one for six in the finals been that's nuts, that's.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Not so good. But uh, I mean they had.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
They had a great tournament. I mean, the finals weren't great,
to your point, but it was a really good tournament.
And they're they're kind of in pretty good spots. I
don't think anyone can come very close to Penn State.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
They're gonna be everybody about one hundred points.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Again, they're gonna win by a lot.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
I would imagine they didn't have a great They didn't
have a great Big Ten finals either, But I think
the battle is who's gonna take second. Iowa has a
great shot, even though they had terrible Big Tens, terrible
Big Tens, wearable affle, and then you know, ok State
look good, Nebraska looks good.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
They're really good.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
Hey, Nebraska at number nine versus Lila Doll is a
tough that's a good match. Hey, But you know what,
thinking about Lillododo, he's like, he's not like a scared
freshman anymore.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
He's going forward. He's wrestling the way he can. That
dude might win it.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
The National Tournament. Is lucky that Richard Figueroa is on
his side. Because Figueroa is a gamer. In the Biggest
he lost to a terrible was not good figure offense
is a gamer in those big moments. Yeah, listen, uh,

(33:05):
but the brass was good at twenty five, they're good.
They're good at forty one, forty nine, they're really good.
Atro Taylor's really good at fifty seven. Seventy four's tough,
eighty four is tough, ninety seven is tough.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Heavyweights not good.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
You know, were you surprised at how bad, hey, bro,
were you surprised at how bad Gable beat up on
the Greg kirkleet because there was a clip of like
carteris the rochet bull? Well, you know posted that, Gabel
posted it. Yes, were you surprised?

Speaker 2 (33:36):
No, you know what.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
I was talking to wrestling Now, let's I'm gonna get
take on this is. I thought he would win. I
thought maybe be a goottle more competitive, but I didn't
think it was gonna be like. I didn't actually think
Kirktly had had a chance at winning.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Gable.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
I said this floor I was on floor the today,
and I think you could make a strong argument about
him being the second greatest college dress of all time.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
He's just so much better than.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Every everybody where. He's the best, bro, He's the best.
I love watching him compete. He's so strong.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
He's not like.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
He's not overly tall, but like he's you can tell
he's a man now and he's like just playing with
these dudes.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Just give me so fun. I cannot wait to get
the film.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
The one thing I was said about though, is I
really wanted to see him. I've wanted to see him
in the World Championships against Are for a few years
and he had. You know, he's been doing his other things,
so hopefully he wrestles the world.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
That's the problem. That's the problem. That's the problem. Like
coming back to college and doing that is fine.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
The World Championship will be much more difficult because the
guys are just way better.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
But he might go fight too, And honestly, I think,
how fast could he be THEFC champion?

Speaker 4 (34:44):
Like one year?

Speaker 2 (34:45):
I think, no, dude, you're crazy, because dude, I think
he'll do fine.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
You don't see the way he man handles everybody.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
The only thing that gives me like is Bo Nickel.
It's like Bo's gotten so much better, but both still needs.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
A little time.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
And I feel like Gable would be in the same
type of situation just because his style isn't like double
legs and stuff.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
He can't.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Just like he's like kind of setting them up with
his hands, and you don't really have the ability to
use your hands to set people up in fighting, you
know the way you don't.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
I mean my counterpoint, that would be for a heavyweight,
and especially for a headweight wrestler.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
His footwork is so good, Oh my god, his full
work is so good.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
Yeah, I'm like the biggest Gables Steveson fan. I got,
I swear to gods like it's bad. And then I
heard that Aj Ferrari. They somebody told me, gun to
my head. If I had to pick a chap at
ninety seven.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
It's Ferrari. Nobody goes.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
He can ride really good, and he can't get He's
hard to get taken out. They said, gun to my head.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
I'm picking Ferrari to win one ninety seven. This is crazy,
bro to me.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
This is the best time of the year. Like, I
don't know how people hate that I do this because
I love wrestling. People hate that I go to wrestling,
but you know I love wrestling. This shit makes me excited.
Like you and I spoke for thirty minutes about other stuff.
I don't have this type of energy for anything else,
but I love.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Wrestling and it is crazy. I love like the broken.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
Listen, remember don't get distracted and just have chick chat
with Jordan Burrows.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
People want you to talk about wrestling. If they don't,
they're gonna be met to you on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
I really don't care. If they're mean, they try to
get mad, I'll be like Jordan A. Jordan was bothered.
Jordan was bothered by that. I don't care, man, I said.
People never like me, so I'm used to it. Hey,
they like you, so it feels different when they don't
like you.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Hey, why don't you come and call a couple of
matches with us?

Speaker 4 (36:41):
I'll tell I told you maybe I'll come Saturday night.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
I'll call ESPN.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
All right, Ben, I'll let you go, my guy, Hey, Jordan,
National Tournament guys. Another episode of Funking the Champ.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
I've been asking. I'm Daniel Cormier PECS
