more welcoming.

Speaker 7 (01:50):
I love this song, Open Arms, such a beautiful song
and difficult song to sing. I tried, I have not
right out, I've tried it in my car that I've
seen like contestants on American Idol and stuff, and it's
just like, oh, it makes you realize how people that
song is.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
By the way, Steve Perry, lead singer on My Mount
Rushmore of greatest voices of all time?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Is he the George Washington. He very well could be. Okay,
very well could be.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Not only do you have a ton of alligator, you
have a thing called a nutria rat, which.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Is a rat. Those are like giant right.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
It looks like a mutant random feet because I know
a lot of things about it and you know, it's
a lot about swamps. Yeah, and they're huge rats right, Yeah,
but they have their teeth or orange. It's crazy why,
I don't know, but they're the most crazy looking things. So, yes,
swamps are wild.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Amazon has a serious premiere A House of David, which

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Honey, making chips last longer?
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Hold on?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Well, you know, once you open the bag, the chips
start their journey to becoming stale. They're like, where comings?
Speaker 2 (04:35):
It's not really a journey? Can I interrupt for a second.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
You know why that's the case, because obviously the bag
doesn't seal up properly. But I don't know why the
serial people and the chip people don't get together with
the ziplock people.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
You brought this up before, and it's a very good point.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
They need to get together with them and induce some
sort of mashup because it will solve all this problems.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
The collaboration that we've needed for a long time.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Right yeah, Well until then, if you store chips in
the freezer, once opened, they will last for months. They
won't ever freeze either, They'll just get cold.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Never tried that. That's a good that's a good little hack. Okay.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
I know this because my grandmother was the freezer queen.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
She put everything in an official title or.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
That's what we called her.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Okay, got me.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Poor Mario Lopez gave it the music and fun coming
your way. You'll Mariow Courtney Lopez letting things get a
little weird for a second with Courtney's random thought.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
What you got, honey?
Speaker 4 (05:34):
So weird? You know, ever since I could remember, I've
just I've always wanted to go back to bed. I
literally my alarm goes off and I think about the
nighttime when I get to get back into bed.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
You know that expression, You've made your bed, now lie
in it.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Okay, that sounds awesome. Yeah, that sounds great. That's not
a punishment. I'm down for that. I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Okay, a little more music and they're gonna fire up
the Zoom and get to today's guest singer songwriter Jojo
Mario and Courty Lopez.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Here we're gonna get the scoop on the new music.
She just dropped, her recent memoir and lots to talk
about when Jojo joins us.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Next top be a.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Mario Lopez joining me right now on Zoom. Multi platinum
recording artist Jojo, How you beening, Jojo?
Speaker 9 (06:15):
I've been good, Mario? How you been?
Speaker 3 (06:17):
I'm doing well?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
You look great. You look great.
Speaker 9 (06:19):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Congrats.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
You dropped your brand new EP ANDNGL a couple of
weeks ago, and a lot of people are digging the music.
How's it feel to be back in the studio again?
Speaker 9 (06:30):
It feels great. I was.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
I was on Broadway for the past couple of years,
doing a couple of runs at Mulin Rouge, and fun
to be to be singing my you know, putting out
my new stuff just feels like it feels great.
Speaker 9 (06:42):
It's been a minute.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah, how did you like that Broadway run? It's a
lot of hard work.
Speaker 9 (06:46):
I loved it.
Speaker 6 (06:47):
I wanted to rise to the level of these performers,
like eight shows a week.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Is no joke, no exactly.
Speaker 9 (06:54):
I loved living in New York so much that I
moved there.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
Like I'm a East Coast girl, so being back in
that felt really good and I just I got to
really grow and after being in the game for a
long time, like I'm looking for opportunities to expand and grow,
and it really it gave me.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
That awesome Where are you from?
Speaker 9 (07:12):
Originally Massachusetts?
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Okay, so yeah, definitely an East Coast gar.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
All right, Jojo?
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Hang tip for me quick break and we're gonna have
more with Jojo, more.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Mario Lopez here agetting back to singer Jojo, who's hanging.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Out with us this hour.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
New EP is n g L And the album is
it a Does it have kind of a musical representation,
a little maybe Broadway feel to it? Or is it
more about like your memoir of last year?
Speaker 9 (07:36):
Or no, Yeah, there's there's no Broadway feel to it.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
It's it's inspired by it's soul full, but there's really
great hooks I think on there. So it's like, you know,
it's a cross note pop, R and B type of record.
Genre matters so much less than when I started out,
which is so nice, you know, And so yeah, NG
(08:00):
well is basically being like, I'm not gonna lie about
all the things that sound like their contradictions within me,
feeling like strong and superbomb and confident and then sometimes
being like, oh you.
Speaker 9 (08:12):
Know what am I doing?
Speaker 6 (08:14):
And just like that confusion that I think lives within
a lot of us is something that I write about
on the CP.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Got it all right?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Well, Hey, in time, We're gonna have more with Jojo
coming up the first and more music. Catching up with
multi platinum recording artist Jojo.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
This hour you on, Mario Lopez.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Let's talk about your latest single, ready to Love. People
are calling it a throwback to nineties R and B,
which is I love personally?
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Is that the vibe you we're going for.
Speaker 9 (08:41):
I mean, I don't know that I.
Speaker 6 (08:42):
Was trying to make a nineties R and B record necessarily,
but I love that it might make people feel that
way because there was something very special about that time
where people weren't afraid to be vulnerable to say, you know,
I love you, I miss you, all these different things.
What I love about Ready to Love is that it
(09:02):
talks about me arriving at that place within myself where
I was clear on who I was and what my
boundaries were, and saying, if if someone is not ready
for the things that I'm ready for, then I need
to move on.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
So absolutely, see very very wise now because I got to grow,
you know exactly.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
All right, One more thing, I want to ask a
few songs that we're going to come back and rap
it up.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
Sorry, I got to wrap it up with singer Jojo.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Mario Lopez here and I remember you were signed young,
like twelve years old, I believe, like one of the
youngest artists to debut at number one, right, Yeah, we
remember about that time. Was it a bit of a blur?
Speaker 9 (09:44):
Or it was a dream come true?
Speaker 6 (09:48):
Like I know a lot of people who started out
as children had really negative experiences because they didn't want
to be doing it, and that was my case.
Speaker 9 (09:56):
For me.
Speaker 6 (09:57):
I wanted it more than anything, you know. I loved
I love performing, and I loved getting to use this
gift that God gave me and from a very young age.
So yeah, it was a bit of a blur. But
in writing my memoir, which came out last year, over
the Influence, I really just gave myself the space to
even see what I remembered because.
Speaker 9 (10:19):
I hadn't thought about it yea that much, you know
what I mean?
Speaker 6 (10:22):
And it was it was really cool to look back
on my twenty year career and be like, whoa, things
that confused me or didn't make sense, Now that I'm
seeing them all laid out in black and white, I
can have compassion for my younger self, even when I
was a bit of like a bit of a like
a bit of a like you know whatever, like like
a little diva or whatever.
Speaker 9 (10:43):
I can understand.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
The process too, imagine was very therapeutic. So that's very cool.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Well, cong congratulations.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
I'm glad that he's still doing your thing.
Speaker 2 (10:53):

With Elton John just because he's Elton John. Yes, even
though I'm not that familiar with these other songs and

Would you find honey, this is from at rust belt Buckle. Okay,
heard you talking about the red pistachios and wondering what
happened to them. I don't know how old you are,
but you must be around sixty if you remember them.
Way back in the day. The pistachios came from Iran, Iran, Iran, Iran, Iran.
(16:56):
You ron, you're on, and they died them red. For
some reason. Shortly after the Iranian Revolution, we stopped importing.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Them, rust belt Buckle.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Thank you for that fun fact.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
I did not know they were Persian pistachios. We still
don't know why they're read.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
But why did you say it like a surfer Persian.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Pistachios, Keanu Reeves.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I don't know, but I read. I guess they're appealing there.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
It was as a kid around sixty, right, that's so funny.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
I did not know that.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
I wish I would have known this fun fact.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Well now you do, I do.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Thanks for you know, thanks for listening, Russ belt Buckle.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Poor Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
All right, Mario Courtney Lopez, you're almost time to pass
some mic but not before we get to one last
thing if you want to live longer.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
A new study says have close friends.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Back in the nineties, way more people had at least
six close friends. Now that numbers dropped big time, with
more people than ever having zero close friends, and loneliness
taken a toll. Most say it's affecting their mental health,
but some don't seem to mind. However, studies show a
strong circle of friends might just add years to your life.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
My theory social media.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
You can make a lot of friends on social media,
or you can exclude a lot of people because you
start hearing opinions that you may not align with, and
therefore you feel you're not going to have something in common.
You don't want to kick it. Before social media, you
didn't know what someone thought really politically or spiritualist to
talk to them unless you talk to him and asked
about it, and those are sort of taboo subjects. You
didn't bring up religion or politics, right, So you just
(18:31):
kind of hung with people and if you liked them,
you liked them. Later on, if you got close, maybe
you brought it up, but other than that you didn't. Now
you know what everyone thinks, so people tend to get
in little.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Clicks that way, Yeah, because they don't want to deal
with exactly and hear it, and I'm all about having
a handful of friends or.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Mario Lopez coming up.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
All right, that's gonna do it for us.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Big thanks again to singer Jojoe for joining us earlier
on Maria dot com from my full chat with her.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
More fun.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
Tomorrow, we'll make more Oscar p diictions, talk must see movies,
engage in another passion at fake debate, and more. Until then,
this is Mario and Courtney Lopez saying good night
Speaker 1 (19:08):
With Mario Lopez
