Jonas Knox, Brady Quinn and LaVar Arrington wake you up on your Wednesday by jumping right into the big Cam Newton being cut story. How much did the Covid situation have to do with NE's move? The show has Urban Meyer audio, which he is now under investigation for, regarding roster decisions based off a player's vaccination status. Did Meyer simply say out loud what every other team is doing? The show debates if Jonas would make a good NFL "reaper." Plus, the Eagles unsurprisingly name Jalen Hurts their starter and the fellas tell you who is making the decisions in Philly.

I do it. I was hoping for this. I was

(02:02):
hoping for this. Rady want you wanna? I know we're
days away from the opening of a college football as
far as Penn State goes. Because LaVar Arrington is decked out. Yeah,
I'm not saying this just because we're on radio right now.
I could not sleep last night. I couldn't and I'm

(02:23):
so excited for it. I was talking all yesterday on
on different stuff just about the college football season. I
know LaVar Stokes. I fly out today to go to
Minneapolis for Ohio State Minnesota. I think this Ohio State team,
even though they've got a lot of moving parts, Uh,
we're really just the quarterback, to be honest with you.
But outside of that, like they're gonna have a special year.
I think I can't wait to see Penn State in Wisconsin.

(02:47):
I think both those teams are like the next two
if you're talking about the Big Ten as far as
who's gonna compete with Ohio States. So it's it's awesome, man.
I am so excited. I I literally could not sleep.
I woke but two, three, four, I literally kept waking up.
I was like, screwed, I'm gonna get up. At this point,
there's no point trying to go back to sleep. You
do know we do a very early morning shows, so

(03:10):
every time you wake back up, you're like closer to
getting in the It is on on on the machine
to do this this gig early morning gradio really doesn't
change the way you live your life. Like I had
those type of nights, I'm like, bump it. I'm just
going into the studio. What is the voice? All right?

(03:30):
So let's let's get into the big blockbuster news that
came out yesterday. Uh, Cam Newton released by the New
England Patriots. Mac Jones was named the starter and Cam
Newton is now a free agent. Um. Look, I will
call myself out. I didn't think that this is a possibility.
I thought add percent Belichick loved Cam Newton. I actually
thought Cam Newton would be the starter and eventually mac

(03:53):
Jones will get the job. But Brady, this this came
to a surprise to a lot of people. But how
surprising is it based on what we saw in camp.
I still think it's really surprising. I don't think Cam
Newton did anything that would make you think on the
field that he shouldn't be the starter. I really, I
really feel that way. I think the other thing is
in or we talked about this, just the added element

(04:15):
he brings running the football, Like I thought, especially in
today's NFL where mobility is so important, I think I
think it it throws a curveball to the defense. I
thought Josh McDaniels would want him to be in the
offense for a second year, have the ability to run
the football and be able to use that against defenses
and then once mac is ready, or if if Newton

(04:35):
gets hurt or displays that he's he's not doing well enough,
then you can turn it over to the rookie. I mean,
we knew eventually mac Jones would get his his moment,
his time. I didn't think it'd be week one. Now.
From people I spoke to after all this happened, um,
they told me that, look, this is how it played out.
We decided that at this point mac Jones had demonstrated

(04:57):
enough commanding and control of the offense that we wanted
to start a week one and that we had said
to Cam we want you to be the backup, and
he said, I don't want to be a backup. Release
me now then and at least gives him time somewhere
in the next couple of weeks to find himself a
roster spot. So I know there was a lot that
was made of what happened last week, and and that

(05:20):
could have a factored into it. We don't know what
exactly transpired. We don't know if it was something and
revolving to you know, him breaking the COVID protocol, or
if it was something else. It's New England, we never
really know. But my understanding of how it all went
down is they wanted to be a backup. He doesn't
view himself as that. And I gotta be honest with you, LaVar,

(05:41):
I think he has a starting quarterback in the NFL.
I just don't know what team that's gonna be on
at this point time in this season. Yeah, I don't either.
I don't either. And listen whether he whether it was
based off of not being vaccinated or not, let me
just get it out there and put it on the table.
Uh hey, no words, listen one way or the other.

(06:04):
What I immediately thought to myself is, either Mac Jones
truly makes this team a better team in terms of
what they feel moving forward, he be They're not where
they need to be as a team, so you might
as well go ahead and get them going right now

(06:24):
and see what he can do, just based off of
where you believe your team is, or or The third
one for me is again, you did not trust cam
and And when I say you didn't trust them, I
think it's based off of you've dealt with two times
a situation connected to COVID and and for for better

(06:45):
or for worse, for good dude or not good dude,
when you can't trust somebody at that position or something
could possibly pop up the way it did last season
during the year which a lot of people felt like
that derailed the Patriots season last year, him missing the
games due to COVID or this season missing five five

(07:07):
practices or five days based off of protocols for not
being vaccinated. That's just not what you want to have,
conversationally speaking, heading into what you want to be a
bounce back year as a as a team. So again,
like I'm with you on this, Brady, I don't know
how much not being vaccinated played into this, but I

(07:31):
will say this, if there's one position where you don't
want to be dealing with any type of unneeded, unnecessary
pressure based off of something like that, which is an
unforced era, you're gonna have to possibly play pay the
consequences of what comes along with possibly valuating that trust.

(07:52):
And the one thing I would I would ask is,
so if if he wants to be a starting quarterback
in the NFL, and and we assume that you know,
every star arting job is pretty much taken up, so
then if only the only thing available are backup gigs,
I don't know, Man, New England seems like a pretty
good spot to be a backup quarterback with a rookie
starting an extra game in the regular season. Belichick, who's

(08:13):
not going to be shy with, you know, making the
move and and pulling a quarterback could be struggles Like,
I'm just surprised that that he wouldn't look around at
the landscape of the league and realize, if there's no
starting jobs available, maybe this is the spot you need
to stay. Maybe. I mean again, I think there's gonna
be some I don't know, I will right when it

(08:33):
seemed decides to cut you. The The only thing is
he's basically been paid, like of the five million he
was scheduled to make, I think he's already been paid,
like the three point six The rest was like his
salary and change something like that. So unless he goes
somewhere else, he's he doesn't need to go anywhere. I mean.
And it's not that at this point money is the
biggest factor, because this is probably one of the smaller

(08:55):
contracts he sided his career. He's made a lot of money, um,
but he might be looking at saying I'd rather go
to somewhere like the Washington football team, where I know
the head coach there in Ron Rivera, And maybe I'm
betting on there's a reason why Ryan Fitzpatrick's floated around
the NFL. He hasn't played consistent enough, So maybe there's
an opportunity to do that. Maybe in Houston, maybe in Miami.

(09:17):
I mean, who knows where he viewsed as a potential
landing spot or destination. But the interesting thing that comes
up about the vaccination is if you're a starter, I
think people would be willing to, you know, make those
considerations if you weren't vaccinated because of the protocol, but

(09:37):
because of your talent, right ultimately, because of your talent,
they're willing to look the other way. But as a backup,
that's where it becomes more difficult. And I said this
weeks ago, and I stand by this. The reason why
so many want to be vaccinated in the NFL. As
much it's about players safety, it's also about the fact
that they only test once a week. If you're not vaccinated,

(09:59):
you have to have day the testing. If you have
daily testing, there's a chance something's gonna pop up, and
there's a chance that when it pops up, now there's
contact tracing and it throws a wretch in the entire
way you practice, meet everything else. So that's that's gonna
play as big of a factor as anything, even though
no team will admit it. And you know what else
you shouldn't admit if you're a team, if it is

(10:21):
factoring into your criteria for a player, don't say it
publicly because the nfl p A is looking for this,
like and we'll get into that later on, but literally,
the nfl PA that's there to protect all players, regardless
of their choice to get vaccinated or not, and regardless
of your opinion on them getting vaccinated. That's what they're

(10:42):
there for. They're there to protect everyone that's under the union.
And they've already said they're not gonna know mandate players
to get it. That's more for teams in essence to
do that if they if they want to kind of
slightly do that, but make it about performance or whatever
else they want to say publicly. Um, And so that's
the shoot for him now is where does that opportunity

(11:02):
to come. It seems like everyone's kind of moving on
at this point in time with who their guy is.
And and then again, if he wants to be a backup,
like he's such a strong personality. Tell me if I'm wrong.
I don't see him being the type that's gonna want
to say, Yeah, I'm gonna sitt in a quarterback room
and watch some guy do a job that I think
I could do better. I just I don't see that. Yeah.

(11:24):
You know, when you think about the idea that you
lost your job to to a rookie, you know there
there has to be that realization like where Cam isn't
right now in this moment. He has to come to
the realization that he's not going to be a starter anywhere.
And and if he takes that approach like a Jameis

(11:46):
Winston approach where I could possibly get into a to
a place and and wait, my my opportunity, Like you said, Fitzpatrick,
is is a perfect example. You know, one one team
we didn't mention that could be a possibility due to
injury is Dallas. You don't really have a bona fide

(12:06):
backup quarterback in Dallas, and I would I would venture
to say Dak Prescott is a strong enough personality where
there wouldn't be any type of real issues concerning Cam
coming in now. I could be wrong, that could be
to alpha um, you know, personalities, and it couldn't. Can

(12:28):
you have too many alpha's in your mind? LaVar in
the locker room in yourn It depends, It depends, you know.
You know Brady, It's like you have alpha's that are
confrontational alpha's and then you have alpha's that can roll together.
You know. It just I think it just depends on
the personality makeup by guy really, because there there may

(12:49):
be one that can handle it, there may be one
that can't handle it. And those things. I can remember
we were in Washington. They brought in Jesse Armstead and
Jeremiah Trotter, I think my second second year, second or
third year, and I had established myself as the leader
on on that defense and pretty much the team. And

(13:10):
it didn't work. It didn't work. Jeremiah Trotter is a
d hole. And yeah, I antways say it on there,
but I don't even know what I'll tell you what
I'll tell you, I'll tell you off. But it didn't work,

(13:31):
like Jesse yeah, well yeah go go go reverse go
to yeah or yeah okay, well anyway, it didn't work.
It didn't work, and and and I think it it
definitely created cracks within our team because there was no
real respect there, you know, and it was there was

(13:52):
silliness involved in and pettiness and cattiness and it just
so it can work, but it could possibly not work.
And and so to me, that's gonna be the biggest
question for Cam moving forward. It was the biggest question
when he he left Carolina is where can this where

(14:12):
can his large personality, larger than life human being go
and and exists. So he's going to be limited even
more so than what a regular free agent quarterback would
would have, you know, to deal with it's I'll kick
the coverage here on Fox Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knox with the here on fs are. It can

(14:33):
happen easily. A few drinks become a few too miniuts,
time to go, and you think of calling for a
ride home. Now, what's the worst that can happen? You
get pulled over, you lose your license, you total your car,
you kill someone, drive sober, or get pulled over. Paid
for by NITZA. Up next, there is a coach in
the NFL who could be in some major hot water.
He probably should not have said what he did. We

(14:55):
will get into those comments. Next year, it's I'll kick
the coverage Fox Sports Radio MS with Mike This this
is out kicked the coverage. A couple of new affiliates here.
Very kind of them to join us here, and we
are happy to have them. So welcome into the Fox
Sports Radio family to the New Sports nineties six one

(15:18):
The Zone in Kentucky. We appreciate you guys hanging out
with this, Lee Reynolds, Terry Ford, thanks for you know,
making us a part of your mornings. I hope to
have some fun with you here and and enjoy the
ride along the way. So lexing in Kentucky. A beautiful
family down the tree. Yes, I got some family down there, Dade.
That's horse country for me, mat Yeah, I'll take that.

(15:39):
I'll take that horse track over anything. Two steps away
from where you where you grew up, right, Uh, it's
it's a three hour drive from where I grew up.
My my uncle actually went, Steve Slates, he went and
played football down there. Never came back. He found he
found my aunt. Never came back. He was like, yeah,

(15:59):
so so it's awesome. So we appreciate them. The New
Sports one the Zone. Anybody listening right now? One shout
out to you. Thanks for the love and support. Somebody
smiling right now, damn right better believe it. Um. Now,
we do want to let you know that there is
obviously some comments in the NFL that, did you know,
could draw some interest from the nfl p A. Um

(16:22):
urban Meyer obviously, uh, Jacksonville Jaguar's head coach, who's had
to make some tough roster decisions. Um, you know, the
release of Tim Tebow and cut down day and all
that stuff, huge huge, huge net uh you know, and
uh and urban Meyer was talking with the media. They
had a little back and forth at the media about

(16:44):
decision making when it came to cuts. And here's out
one yesterday in Jacksonville. I know you can't give specifics,
but could you share with us whether a vaccinated versus
unvaccinated player had an impact on a roster decision. Everyone
was considered. That was part of the uh production, what's

(17:04):
his you know, let's start start talking about this. And
then also is the vaccinated or not? Can I say
that that was a decision maker was certainly in consideration. Yeah. Uh, Well,
the nfl p A got ahold of that. And uh, now,
the nfl p A, according to Georgia Tala, who who's
the assistant executive director of the NFL p A. He

(17:25):
has told some sources that they have led an open
investigation now that they will open up an investigation into
the comments because urban Meyer said the quiet part out
loud and acknowledge that vaccinated players and unvaccinated players. That
was part of the decision making when it came to cuts.
So here we go off and run again. I think
it's back end of the roster guys who you're looking

(17:47):
at saying they're probably not even gonna be active on
game day. They're there for depth or there uh as
a backup in case we need him an emergency. And
and honestly, he you know, and this is the thing
that I hate right now is people always get after
coaches and players when we're not honest. And so he
gives an honest answer. What happens now you realize at

(18:07):
the NFL level, where you've got a you need to
deal with, they're going to come after you. And so
now there's an investigation. I won't I wouldn't be shocked
if this isn't the last. I mean, maybe everyone else
will learn from this, but I think every team if
you're asking them. Honestly, if you're talking about the fifty
three second man in the roster practice squad players, it

(18:30):
definitely plays an impact. And he's right, I mean, you
gotta think about it. And you said it in the
first segment, Brady, I don't want to listen. Even at
the high school level, yesterday, spent all day yesterday on
phone calls with parents. I'm not even on staff, and
I'm on the phone because I'm getting calls from parents.

(18:51):
Like the medical office is calling saying that you know,
they're they're they're checking up on in terms of contact tracing,
you know what I mean. Like it's it's a thing
even at the high school level, like everybody is working
to try to keep kids safe, keep keep the schools safe.

(19:12):
You know, you only have so many substitute teachers that
that are going to be available. You're you're trying to
keep your environment safe, and you have so many that
that are not you know, vaccinated at this point, and
if you're getting if you're getting the virus, then that's
that's being taken into consideration, consideration very seriously. So when

(19:34):
you're talking about even with starters, when you get into
that whole contact tracing deal you could impact, Like you said,
the way you meet who's even able to play based
off of what the protocols of how long you have
to sit out, You're you're running the risk of missing games.

(19:55):
And we saw it happen last year a couple of times.
So if you if you're going to just look at
a coach or you're gonna look at an organization and
you're going to and listen to the n f L
p A has to do their job. They have to
to honor what they bring to the table and try
to maintain their value so that there's buy in from

(20:17):
the players. I get all that, but just at surface level,
if you think an organization isn't paying attention too, if
a guy has the ability to derail your season, you're
got you. You're like, I'm you're out of touch with
reality if you ask me. Because this so this is
the same thing as if a player is good enough,

(20:39):
they'll overlook some things. So what's the time I would
assume for a time, like if you if col Beasley
gets cut cold bes is one of the best slot
wide receivers in the NFL. If Cole Beasley gets cut,
all right now, now, we gotta start really looking into this.
But but this just this goes to Jimmy Johnson said
this years ago. He said a player fell asleep in
a meeting and he cut him. And somebody asked him,

(21:02):
if Troy Aikman had fallen asleep in a meeting, what
would you have done? Just asked him to wake up
or let him sleep? You know, yeah, just so yeah,
I'm not gonna cut him. It's Troy Aikman. So if
you're good enough and not one of these back end
roster guys, Brady, I don't even think that this is
really part of the equation. But this is maybe just
it's like the same thing you talk to anybody that hires.
They'll tell you when they get a bunch of resumes,

(21:24):
they'll weed through the resumes by who's got the sloppiest
riding back in the day. If they can't even read
what's on the resume, they're not gonna waste their time.
They're just going to toss it in the trash like
this is. This is the weakening out process, and that's
a great process. That means they're not hiring a bunch
of doctors given how given how doctors that might not
be the best place. I don't know. I don't think
when you do attack the medical field like that. I mean,

(21:46):
have you ever seen have you ever seen your doctor's
handwriting before? Usually it's it's pretty poor, you know. I
don't think that scratch like that they wash the too much. Yeah,
well I don't. I honestly think it's I kind of
think it's a little bit of how often they have
to do it, And I think it's kind of an

(22:07):
ego thing, like they don't really have to, like I'm
a doctor, Like I just I don't even look at
You've ever noticed that even look at the paper? They
will stare you dead in the eye and put their
signature on something, so like how could it? That's what
I'm saying, Like they're just looking at you, talking and
they're scribbling, and they're like, look, I'm a doctor. Earthquake paper.
Have ever seen surgeons? They walk in there, people are

(22:29):
putting their gloves on, their entire everything on them. They're
at They've got someone there just to give them utensils.
Like they walk in, they walk out that they do
their surgery. That's kind of it, Like why do I
have to sign my name and actually print of course not.
I just I'm looking at you, talking to you the
whole time. I'll just sign whatever. I think it's an
ego thing. I think they've got massive egos. Doctor clearly

(22:49):
has rubbed Brady the wrong way while he was writing
I love doctors, No I do. I just think it's
an ego thing. Like it's like, well, okay, when I
was in high school, where it is there it is.
I had a buddy next to me, Tyler Toko. Tyler
Toko sat in the class and he goes, you should

(23:12):
practice your signature. You're gonna be famous one day. And
I never I never thought about that. And he literally
sat next to me a couple of days and he
was like, you should do like he would like, try
to work on how my signature could stand out. And
so we literally I remember two days distinctly in high
school trying to create like what I wanted to be
my signature. When when I felt like I made it

(23:32):
or whatever, and I'll never forget, like when I first
got the Notre Dame and I started, you know, started
games for them, and people started asking for my autograph
after games. I was like, it's so weird. Man. Like
I worked on this, and so I always want to
make sure I printed. You didn't sign an autographs in
high school, Brady, Uh No, No, I was never. I
never really understood that. Like I was never a big
autograph guy. The only person I cared about when I

(23:55):
was young getting autograph farm was Bernie Cozar and Hank Aaron,
and I ended up getting both of those. So that
was stoked. But every everyone else is like whatever. I'm
sure Bernie all autograph your flask if you got on
just yeah. But by the way, do you guys do
do you guys do the douche move where you put

(24:16):
your jersey number after your name. You know, nobody's got
the name Brady Quinner, LaVar Arrington, they know who it is.
We're not musicians, you know. I'm sorry you're not assigned
a number. I know that's what What do you put
after you put Jonas? Not to show whatever I want,
I put a microphone. I do I put a microphone,
Put a plant? That's what you play. Leave my chair

(24:40):
out of this, but look this, So this the urban
Meyer comments, He's probably gonna get some blowback, but we've
heard Mike Zimmer, We've heard um Sean McDermott. There's been
coaches that have said everything, but we're going to cut
players if they're not vaccinated. This has happened the entire

(25:02):
off season. Well, again, you have to follow protocol if
you're the nfl p A, right like, you gotta come
out and say, oh, we're investigating this the the NFL.
You guys have got to work with us on this.
This is unaccepted because the nfl A drive such a
hard bargain. But let's be clear here, man. Those dudes
at the nfl PA shots out to y'all no disrespect
and intended to what I'm about to say, but they're

(25:23):
sitting there saying you probably should have gotten a vaccination,
like your job is on the line. Go. I mean,
you know, I'm not going to get into what your
belief system is, but you do know that those UH
teams are privately owned. I mean, they're they're private organizations,
so you probably should conform, you know, to what their

(25:44):
protocols are and what they what they gently say that
they want you to do if you want to be
around I mean, I just that's what they're saying behind
closed doors. Let's be clear here. So even though urban
said it and then be clear Urban isn't gonna say
something that he doesn't. You know, he's not damaging the
team by what he said. He kept it brutally honest,

(26:06):
but he didn't go far enough where he said this
is the reason why you will not be on the team,
even though he made sure he put it out there
in terms of Okay, listen, if you're on this team
and you don't have a vaccination, it is being evaluated.
Keep in mind, just because you're doing cutdowns doesn't mean

(26:26):
you're safe that you made it onto the roster. That
you could be gone the next week. So he could
be talking to guys that are still on this team,
and he could be talking to guys that could potentially
be on this team. Don't come through these doors if
you're not vaccinated. That's basically what he said without saying
it so so quickly, just on the LaVar's point for

(26:49):
especially for veterans, because because here's the thing, it's two things.
It's talent, right if if it's if it's a guy
who as you said, Jonas Troy Akin versus someone else
on the roster, that's gonna factor in as far as
the isstion, the talent, etcetera. It's also money. If you've
got a bunch of guaranteed money, you know, dipped into
a guy, you're not releasing him just because he's not
gonna get vaccinated. You've got too much invested into him.

(27:10):
So that's the other factor to all of that. But
something to keep in mind over the course, because you
know three preseason games is kind of new to us,
is the Week one opening day roster, meaning that's Sunday
in Week one, that's the roster that matters. They make
cuts down now to fifty three and they've got to
create this this sixteen man practice squad. But the truth

(27:32):
of the matter is is for vested veterans, meaning guys
who've played five years or more accredited seasons, those guys,
if their salaries guaranteed once they're on the roster on
that Week one game day roster, so there will still
be some moving parts because teams won't want to guarantee
their salary for the season, So what they'll do is
they'll cut them for hours beforehand and then sign them

(27:56):
on after that Week one matchup. So, like I remember,
when I was in Denver, we had a couple of
guys who like into that game week. That first game week,
they thought they were good. And we were in the
weight room working out one day in the morning and
then they sent over the the the Grim Reaper. You know,
they didn't come over. So one of the one of
the scouting guys would come over and be like, hey,

(28:18):
bring your playbook and we're like, oh, snap, like this
far into it and that and by the way, that
guys like universally hated for university and you gotta drive
him to the air after you've told him to get
his playbook and to come with me, and they got sooner. Look,
they take you in and they're waiting for you to
come out, and they got to drive you to your
your hotel or wherever it is you're staying. You gotta

(28:40):
collect your gatherings. Then they immediately take you to the
airport or to the bus station or wherever your final
destination may lead you to. They got to do everything.
The Reaper is not a game, bro, You do not
want Look, you'd be seeing that dude walking around chats,
be in fear, maybe running in height and like, why
are you going to buy the who just came out

(29:01):
of the rest room? Man? What's it going back for
It's not like these are physically imposing guys. It will
be like a young kid who'll be like two fresh
in the organization, and they will test them with the
responsibility of having to go grab these three pound massive
men bring to their knees. They bring these big boys

(29:23):
to their knees. They dudes being tears when they see
that dude walk up on them like and they just
had I've never seen one that was like didn't have
the look in their eyes of no life. Every reaper
came in as little as they were young as they
look they had that that death in their there was

(29:44):
no life there. At some point we gotta tell some
stories because I remember when we had had security called
for one player like it did not it did not
go well. I'll put it that one. It did not
go well. Uh it is I'll kicked the coverage here
on Fox Sports Radio. Up next, there is a quarterback
decision that has been made in the NFL. We will

(30:05):
get to that here on Fox Sports Radio. Awesome food
for thought. Would Jonas make a good reaper? Think about that?
While we uh we hear about you, I've got an
answer for that. I answer for you, all right, go ahead.
I'm saying Jonas would be good. Like Jonas has this,
he's I know, you don't want to be right, And

(30:27):
most people who end up being prodigies or amazing at
jobs don't always love the job because what they were
born with. And I feel like you've got the type
of empathy where you would be really good at being
able to talk guys down off a ledge, really where
you might be the last person who talks to them

(30:48):
in their NFL career like that. That could be you.
I think you'd be really good at doing that. I
really do, because one of the things I've noticed about
you is you seem to always over sell or deliver.
So in this instance, in this instance, you like bar,
he'd be building you up. He'd be like LaVar, Look,

(31:08):
you've got a long career ahead of you. Decisn't your
last stop with I know you've been with ten teams
by now, but look you still have a Hall of
Fame career, and you keep on pushing, you keep and
so he as he pushes you into that uber to
go off the airports, ober cells and completely under delivers

(31:29):
and then he never sees you again. So I mean,
you can't even there's no repercussion, so I think he'd
be perfect. What is he saying when he's walking away
once he's in the uber Brady, what what are the
words that's coming out of get you hack? Oh, we're

(31:50):
lucky you made what loser? What do you think the
reaper makes? No? I mean like entry levels. That's it
might be paid hourly at That's an awful gig man,
And I've had some bad but that's the that's the
sun Pa, that's the that's the cow. Shanahan's like cheese.

(32:14):
I'd rather be the rat. I'd rather be the right
because let me tell you something. Bring smiles, all right?
All that job does, all that job does? Hearts out
all right, all right? I was the rabbit, chuck e Cheese.
I wore that job and that hat proudly. I'm not
here to tell somebody their NFL careers just died because
the coach doesn't have the balls to do it. I'm out.
And by the way, Sean McVeigh, say what everyone about
Sean McVeigh that got him ready for his NFL gig,

(32:36):
The way he threw Jared Goff out of the bus
and blamed him for their choke job last season that
you learn how to fire guy. You got to think
about it, My guy, Jared deliver the reaper, delivers the
player to the old reaper. That's just the that's the
circle of life, circle of man. By the way, I
was talking to Brady during the break and he said

(32:56):
the best part about Jared Goff is that his first
name is not Jack. It is out kicked the coverage
on Fox Sports Radio. I be the most low class
one ever. By the way, LaVar, LaVar, how true do
you think that story was? That? Jonas and I actually
talked about that. It was true. That's why what I

(33:17):
thought I heard. I just caught up on the text
that you said. I just up that little snack there
you go, Yeah, the one before that, okay, but the
little snag is really very good. I'm check that one.
Just a class all the way of this show. All right,
it is uh Fox Sports Radio. I'll kick the coverage, LaVar,

(33:38):
Brady and Jonas coming up next. Though a quarterback decision
has been made in the NFL. We've got it for
you here on fs ARE. This is out kicked the Coverage. Hey,
this is Jason McIntyre joined me every weekday morning on

Doing yourself a favor and listen to Straight Fire with
Jason McIntyre on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast

(34:23):
or wherever you get your podcasts. LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn,
Jonas knocks with you here on fs are coming up
top of next hour a little over ten minutes from now,
we're going to have a discussion about a proud franchise
in the NFL. It was probably not too thrilled with
the behavior of one of their star players. That's coming

(34:45):
up here a little over ten minutes from now on
fs ARE. By the way, guys, shout out to ninety
four seven the ref in Oklahoma Sport in Oklahoma City.
It's Oklahoma Sports Talk. John Phillips, Don Christie. I appreciate
you guys making us a part of your morning. They
have joined the Fox Sports Radio family, so lots of

(35:07):
love to Oklahoma City. Uh, those fine folks there. I
know obviously Chris Plank, Fox Sports radio legend. He is
a proud Oklahoma and so it's awesome to have them
joining us as well. To here, Chris, come, don't be
nice to Chris Plank. Love me some Chris Plank. Oklahoma
is gonna be up for a national championship this year.
It's a raller coming back. He'll be up for the

(35:27):
highest and it comes out to be right. Yeah, I
think he is the odds on betting favorite right now. Um,
which I mean, man, if there was ever a year,
because I think I think this is true, LaVar. This
is the first time in the college football playoff era
where Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State all three of news
starting quarterbacks coming into the season and Oklahoma is that

(35:50):
team that's got there is returning in rattlers. So maybe
there's a window of opportunity. Maybe, And do you know
that don't Hey, they don't rebuild, they reload the true
definition of it. But Lincoln Riley has done a fine
job there. So again ninety four seven the ref Oklahoma
Sports Talk in Oklahoma City, John Phillips, Don Christie, we

(36:12):
love you, We appreciate you. Thanks for letting us be
a part of your mornings in Oklahoma. All right, so
um hung out in Oklahoma before It's awesome. It was
a time. There's a beautiful Yeah. Well you know, listen
to mean our four we'll get into LaVar. We're gonna
have to do a podcast. Yeah. In the podcast would
be everything we don't talk about on air. By the way,

(36:34):
I want to let you know it can happen easily.
A few drinks will go, a few too mini, its
time to go, and you think of calling for a
ride home. Now, what's the worst it gonna happen. You
get pulled over, you lose your license, you totally your car,
you kill someone, drive sober, or get pulled over. Paid
for by Nitza. Speaking of Oklahoma, Jalen Hurts of former
Oklahoma Sooner. He has been named the starting quarterback of
the Philadelphia Eagles. And I think this is a stunning,

(36:56):
stunning development, Brady, because I thought for sure Joe Flack
had this job on Lockdown. I'm stunned. Well, I thought,
maybe you're gonna say Gardner Minshew still consummated he hasn't
got number two. I don't know. I mean, it's not
not an option. I'm just saying that that Gardner Minshew
made those comments is not an option. But nonetheless, I like,

(37:20):
I like, I like Jalen Hurts a lot. How long
is the leash gonna be for him in Philadelphia, That's
what I want to know before they did. I feel
like he's got a long leash. Look, Nick Sirianni took
the job knowing that this was going to be their
situation at quarterback, probably unless they could get Watson, which
which ended up not working out. Um, but this is

(37:40):
Howie Roseman's guy. Like, if we know anything about Philly
after seeing Chip Kelly to Doug Peterson, now to Nick Sirianni,
Howie Roseman has run this thing all right, Jeff Lorie
owns the team, but you know he's Howie Roseman has
Jeff Lori's ear. And there's a reason why a guy
who want a Super Bowl what three or four years
ago whatever that was in Philly can be pushed out

(38:01):
of town so quick is because he you know, you've
got something within the front office that's trying to kind
of pull the strings and be the puppet master behind
the scenes. So I think Jalen Hurts is how he
Roseman's guy, and that's probably the biggest um you know,
advocate that you can have in that building that's gonna
help him at least see through this year. And I think,

(38:22):
look at things don't go well and then have been
a bad football team, he's gonna dip back in the
draft and take one the following year. Yeah, I totally
agree with that. Again, the way it was handled that
last game, you could tell that Jalen Hurts definitely wasn't
Doug Peterson's guy if you had any type of wondering
or debate on that situation. And it costed Doug Peterson

(38:43):
his job. So bringing in Gardner Minshew, I will say
he may be one of the most grossly underrated quarterbacks
out there right now. And but but here's the thing,
I don't know how that plays out with a team
that seeming lee isn't where it needs to be personnel wise,
you know, And and and you get you get the

(39:04):
Heisman Trophy, you know, winner at the receiver's position in
Jalen uh or Jr. Excuse me, Jalen Hurts Uh well,
and and so can he be the guy? I think
the verdict is still up in the air about what
type of pro he's going to be. But I mean,
you gotta think that if Minshew gets in, there's not

(39:27):
very much that he's going to be able to bring
to the table that's going to be different than what
Jalen Hurts is. So you gotta believe by by process
of elimination it is going to be Jalen hurt for
a little while. Let me ask you, guys, this is
Gardner Minshew in a better spot in Philly than he
is in Jacksonville because because at least more of an opportunity,
right you would think opportunity. Yeah, Trevor Lawrence is gonna

(39:50):
get every single chance. And I'll say this much man,
that that team is kind of built now, like they
got some weapons on the outside there. Deefen's is better
than where Jacksonville is. Like, I just thinking, even if
he gets his opportunity, I mean, he's gonna I don't know,
actually if you can call it the worst worst division
now that I think about it, the South right, so
it's pretty bad and it's comparable, I guess, but probably

(40:12):
a little better than Philly. They will be a seller
dweller in the East though it is an out kick
the coverage here. On Fox Sports Radio, LaVar Arrington, Brady
Quinn Jonas knocks more out of the NFL next year.
