We discover more characteristics of a model church in 1 Thessalonians 1.
1 Thessalonians teaches us what a model church looks like. It challenges all of as Christians to live righteously and to do so in the context of our local church.
This concludes our study in Matthews Gospel. Jesus gives us authority to go make disciples!
We continue to explore what it means for us to make disciples as Jesus commanded at the end of Matthew 28.
We continue to explore what it means for Christians to make disciples in Matthew 28. Today we ask and answer, "how can we do this?"
Jesus tells his followers to make disciples. What does this mean for us? We ask and answer this question from Matthew 28.
As we near the end of Matthew's gospel, we consider the whole of the book and discover the purpose of the gospel of Matthew.
What did Jesus' death do? We examine that question and answer it from Matthew 27.
In Matthew 27 we read of the crucifixion of Jesus. Through his death, we are given forgiveness of sins.
We finish our series "Christmas in the Law" in Deuteronomy 18 where Moses promises that a prophet would come that would speak in God's name. That prophet was looked for and found in the coming of Jesus Christ. Jesus speaks from God and speaks the truth of God as he is God in human flesh.
We continue our series "Christmas in the Law" and focus on Numbers 24 where we meet Balaam, the wicked prophet whom God used to speak good things for the future of Israel. In his prophecy we see that God keeps his promises which gives us hope today, just as it did for the people of Israel in Balaam's day.
We continue our series "Christmas in the Law" and do so in Genesis 49 where Jacob prophecies about the coming of the Messiah through the line of Judah. We discover that God redeems and brings beauty of hopeless situations like Judah for the glory of God and the good of God's people.
During this Advent season we focus on the glory of Christ's coming being prophesied in the Old Testament law. Today we see that promise of Christ in Genesis 3:15.
The religious leaders, the crowd, and Pilate all come together to crucify Jesus in Matthew 27. What did they do with Jesus? They crucified him. What should we do with Jesus? We should embrace him as Savior and Lord.
Judas betrays Jesus and demonstrates a hard heart. It leads us to consider what real repentance really is.
Peter denies Jesus. However, this is not the end of Peter's story. Jesus redeems us from our shame, even when we fail him.
Jesus demonstrates how to face injustice at his shame trial that took place the night before his crucifixion. He becomes a perfect model for how we can face injustice.
Jesus is betrayed by Judas in Matthew 26. However, Jesus does not fight back or encourage his followers to fight back. This should tell us something about the nature of Jesus's ministry but also our ministry today as Christians. We consider how we are to live in the face of persecution because of what Jesus modeled for us.
Jesus is about to be put to death in Matthew 26. In the face of this great trial, he prayed and he persevered. We will consider how Jesus models for us the right source of strength in the face of adversity.
What does the Lord's Supper do? We answer that question today on the Sunrise Pulpit.
