Speaker 4 (00:25):
Don't worry about it.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
And we just learned in Ryan's pop quiz, eight and
a half pounds is how much the Oscar trophy wives
whoa Yeah, thirteen and a half inches tall. I had
a whole bunch of Oscar facts I'll share with you later,
some shocking, surprising things that I've never I've never knew before.
There was only one Oscar winner named Oscar. Really, yeah,
I'll tell you about it coming up and insight.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
And I don't want to blow your spot here, but
I think it's named Oscar because the creator of the
statue had a relative, her uncle, her uncle.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Right, that looked like Oscar.

Speaker 5 (00:59):
Yea, for real.

Speaker 1 (01:00):

it looks like my uncle Oscar.

Hips don't lie, you know.

That's what we would always tell my son Calvin and
Pop Warner football.

Speaker 6 (01:20):
Watch the hips. The hips don't lie.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
When you're on the line and you're watching that quarterback
and you're a defensive line.

Speaker 6 (01:28):
Just watch his hips.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Then you know which direction he's gonna either pass that
ball or you know, run so you.

Speaker 6 (01:34):
Can sack him.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
When do you see Calvin next?

Speaker 6 (01:36):

you want ago. It's a magical teaky experience where there
are all kinds of games and tricks you get inside.
And this was also the recording studio where Jim Morrison
of the Doors recorded a couple songs. So I told
Calvin if he orders the drink called the Elvis. There's

(02:16):
a special surprise. I didn't tell him what happened.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Don't tell him? Okay, Well I got the Elvis.

It involves banana and peanut buttered you know, thing for Elvis.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yeah, he loved that.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
And then there's another drink called the Ghost of Jim because,
like you said, Jim Morrison would record there. It's a
fascinating place and it's really I mean, it's a speakeasy vibe,
that's what it is. So if you can book a reservation,
it's awesome.

Speaker 6 (02:39):
So we'll take him there.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
He's never been. And then well, you know, we'll frolic
and we will get into some shenanigans.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
Do you need a code to get in? How do
you make a reserme? You have to just call them, Yeah,
call them, call them, get your name in there. Nice. Yeah.

Hey and Millie Bobby Brown made it known that she's
interested in starring in the Britney Spears biopic. She's just
one of the many actresses eager to get the park.
She's even changed her entire look to look kind of
like a blonde Barbie from What the Stranger Things Milly
Bobby Brown used to look like. Anyway, Britney has spoken,
she goes, you know what I'd rather have Natalie Portman.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
I know, okay, yeah, it's a very brittany answer.

Speaker 8 (05:08):
That is Natalie Portman is like more sci fi?

Speaker 6 (05:12):
Yes, hilarious.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I don't see the look either, Like, yeah, we'll see, okay,

Saw the Billboard on Sunset. Kate Hudson is a reform
party girl who must prove herself as a businesswoman when
she's put in charge of her family's pro basketball team.

hanging out with Kate Hudson, Jeanie Buss, and Jamore. Her
new husband live on separate floors of their luxury condo building,
and she said that's what keeps the marriage hot and fresh.
But yeah, that is a series premiere today on Netflix.
And now we have a whole series to be watching

(05:53):
all about our very own Lakers, based not loosely on
but definitely on Genie Bus.

Speaker 6 (06:00):
Okay, what about this?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Travis Kilse says that when he's feeling down, he listens
to music that matches his mood, specifically one artist.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Do you listen to sad music when you're depressed or
do you listen to happy music? Jason?

I have three huge dogs at my house and their
Belgian sheep dogs. Oh they're gorgeous, but they are so manipulative,

Speaker 7 (08:36):
There's more feel good next on the L and K
Morning Show.

Speaker 8 (08:39):
Coast one O three point five. It's the L and
K Morning Show.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
So good this morning.

Speaker 8 (08:44):
Thank you, Coast one.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
O three point boy, your happiness hack we give them
to you every day. At this time, we lost Gene Hackman.
We all woke up to this shocking news that he
and his wife and his dog were found passed away
in their Sound, New Mexico home where he where he retired.

Speaker 6 (09:04):
You know for the last twenty years. He said, no
more movies for me.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
I had a stress test in two thousand and nine
on my heart and I just need to calm down.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
And he did so. Jean would go to this diner
every day in Santa Fe.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Every morning, like clockwork, he would go that he had
his favorite diner, and he loved to just go and
sit and talk with the locals. And he really stepped
away from that life. But man, what a career he had.
So I want to take us back to the nineteen
eighty six film Hoosiers. Gene Hackman played coach Norman Dale,
head coach at Hickory High. Really kind of unassuming band

(09:40):
of ragtag basketball players who had no business playing for.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
The state title.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
This is one of my favorite movies.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
It's one of the most Hoosier.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
You were Hoosier.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
In two thousand and one, Hoosiers was selected for preservation
in the US National Film Registry. The Library of Congress
calls it one of our most culturally significant films.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
So often, and I know you know this. Ellen is a.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Parent of an athlete, Darlene you as well, Mike. You
and I both played sports. So the lessons we learn
in athletics translate to life. It doesn't have to be
about this specific game. So let's go today for our happiness.
Hack to Gene Hackman, inside the locker room. He's talking
about a game. But if there's something you're up against today, tomorrow,

(10:21):
in the near future, and you're feeling overwhelmed, talk to him, coach.

Speaker 14 (10:25):
Forget about the crowds, the size of the school, their
fancy uniforms, and remember what got you here. Focus on
the fundamentals we've gone over time and time again, and
most important, don't get caught up thinking about winning or
losing this game. If you put your effort and concentration

(10:46):
into playing to your potential to be the best that
you can be, I don't care what the scoreboard says at.

Speaker 6 (10:51):
The end of the game. In my book, we're going
to be winners.

Speaker 14 (10:54):
Okay, all right, let's go what's called.

Speaker 6 (11:02):
Wonder hear it?

Speaker 7 (11:11):
Find your feel good here on the L and K
Morning Show. Coast one o three point blots Morning Show.

Speaker 15 (11:17):
I love you guys, you are wonderful, and you enhunts
my morning.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
And you enhance ours.

Speaker 9 (11:23):
But being there now Coast one oh three point five,
the top stories top of the hour, Good Morning of
Ellen k and US Attorney General says that some Epstein
information will be released today at Jeffrey Epstein's alleged crimes.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
And the number may be very high of victims two
hundred known victims that they make of two hundred and fifty.
You're going to see a lot of flight logs, a
lot of names, and a lot of information later on. Today,
our relatives of Eric and Lymanendez have postponed a plan
news conference all amid their ongoing efforts to get the
brothers released from prison. It's unclear why they scrapped the event.

(11:57):
It could be tied to recent comments made by both
Nathan Hackman and Governor Newsom.

Speaker 6 (12:02):
Newsom seemed to side.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
With Hawkman when he cast out on any evidence of
abuse by their parents.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
The question for the board is a rather simple one.
Do Eric and Lylemanendez?

Speaker 13 (12:13):
Do they pose a current, what we call unreasonable risk
to public safety?

Speaker 6 (12:18):
And that story is developing, as is this one. We
all woke up.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
I'm sad and shocked by legendary actor Gene Hackman found
dead in his Santa Fe home alongside his wife Betsy
and their dog. Officials are still investigating cause of deet.
They say that foul play has been ruled out. We'll
have more info as it becomes available. Hackman winning two
Oscars and the Oscar producers putting together an honor package

(12:42):
for him that you'll see on Sunday. The Dodgers' bats
woke up yesterday, posting nine runs in their second spring win.
They're back at it today in Scottsdale, meeting the Rockies
at noon.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
Manager Dave Roberts, just drop this little nugget.

Speaker 4 (12:53):

Speaker 1 (14:24):

of how you have been sent for recruited to be
her partner in crime.

Speaker 6 (14:32):

All right, Well, what is your guest? So what is
it that men are turned off by a woman doing what?

Speaker 11 (20:49):
I'm going to guess, take a selfie like them taking
a selfie.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Taking a selfie is right, You're going to Beach Life Festival.

Speaker 11 (20:57):
Yay, thank you so much.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
This is a pair of three day passes.

Speaker 11 (21:06):
Wow, that's amazing and.

Speaker 6 (21:09):
We've got them for you. A Beach Life Festival, ver
Dondo Beach.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Sixty percent a minut are turned off when they see
a woman taking a selfie. So if you're going to
do it, you don't want to turn off a guy.

Speaker 6 (21:20):
No, I mean, I guess you just don't do it
in front of other people.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
What are your thoughts on that?

Speaker 6 (21:26):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (21:28):
I just think that girls take selfies a lot more
than guys. So if you see a guy taking a selfie, yeah,
that makes me feel a certain way. Really yeah, kind
of okay, I mean if you dwell on it.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (21:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
We have a former coworker here and I still follow
on Instagram. But it's just the whole Instagram is just
all all selfies, and I always think, who is this for?

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Is this?

Speaker 4 (21:50):
I mean, we know what you look like, we do
I get it.

Speaker 15 (21:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
I just and then I shudder to think what the
rest of the camera role looks like, because those are
the good ones.

Speaker 6 (21:58):
Safe to say you're.

Speaker 8 (21:59):

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Top Stories Top of the hour, Good morning, I'm ellen
K and the daughter of after Gene Hackman says he
and his wife, Betsy, and their dog likely died from
carbon monoxide poisoning, as authorities said the couple and their
dog were dead for at least a day before their
bodies were found. Elizabeth Gene Hackman told TMZ the family
suspects her father, his wife, and one of the dogs
died from those toxic fumes. After their bodies were found,

(22:42):
authorities called in the fire department and gas company to
ensure the house was safe to search. Two of the
couple's dogs alive were inside that home as well. And
one of Chapel Roone's most memorable costumes has just been
sold for charity.

Speaker 6 (22:55):
It was more expensive than you might think.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
After Ron danced in a vintage bodysuit with white knee
high boots in her Hot to Go video. The outfit
was auctioned off to help those affected by the LA wildfires.
It was supposed to go for like one or two
thousand dollars, It ended up selling for eighty nine thousand dollars.
It's royal blue sequins with golden red stars and gold
shoulder pads.

Speaker 6 (23:14):
She also threw in the boots.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
According to the auction's official website, all proceeds will be
distributed directly to organizations on the front lines of wildfire relief.
And eight years after pulling their combined savings of nine
hundred dollars to sell fried chicken out of a pop
up tent in East Hollywood, the four founders of Dave's
Hot Chicken are ready to sell and they're going to

(23:37):
ink a deal to sell that chain of restaurants for
one billion dollars. According to The Wall Street Journal, Arman, Tommy,
and Gary had no experience in the restaurant business. They
teamed with their chef Dave to create their craveworthy chicken
slan curly fries. They kept it simple and now a
billion dollars in their pockets eight years ago.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
That's remarkable.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
And one more day of above average tempts and then
we're going to cool down a little bit. Eighty five
for your high today, garden Grave, you'll see eighty five, Guardina,
you go up to eighty.

Speaker 6 (24:05):

Speaker 1 (24:44):

K Morning Show.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
So Ry are you ready?

Speaker 4 (24:51):
I am ready?

Speaker 13 (24:52):
Okay, Sarah you ready, I'm ready.

Speaker 6 (24:54):
Let's tackle some troubles. I love these.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
We're getting talkbacks for you, so thank you for for
listening for and responding to what you're about to hear.

Speaker 6 (25:03):
Sarah.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
You know, I heard your Q and A about the
men lying more than women, and I got to say
that it's absolutely true. I must admit that I lie
all the time. I've lost a lot of great women
because of that. But the weird thing about it is
that I kind of get something out of it. I
enjoy it. I get this rush of this control, this

(25:27):
power that I have, and it's manipulative.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Well, you know what, good for him for realizing he's manipulating.

Speaker 13 (25:35):
I think that, you know, we do have a sense
of power and control anytime we have information that somebody
else doesn't. And that's what happens when we're lying, we're
portraying different information. We know things they don't know them.
It gives us a really strong sense of power and control.

(25:55):
And I think whenever we're looking at something like that,
the bigger question is why don't we feel in control?
Why do we feel powerless?

Speaker 6 (26:04):
The word that he said, he gets a rush out
of it, Yeah, like a thrill.

Speaker 13 (26:10):
Okay, it's at his own expense, that's the thing is,
it's at his own expense. But what I'm hearing is
that he's not going to stop. I mean, you mean
we could tell him exactly what we think it is
why he should stop. But if he's getting that rush,
he's getting like a little explosion of dopamine every time
he does it. So there's it's it's hooked into the

(26:32):
reward center of his brain. I've worked with like many
women and some men who are there intelligent, educated, smart people,
and they have really been deceived by some very clever
con people.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
What do you tell them to get How do you
get over that? How do you how do you trust again?
Like this show on Netflix, The Tender Swindler, he lied
about everything, took money from so many women and just
left them broke and disappointed and heartbroken.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Well, I think the.

Speaker 13 (27:07):
Worst thing that happens when we go through something like
that is we're not okay, we have a problem trusting
others in the future, but we lose our trust in ourselves.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
We don't trust our judgment anymore.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
And that's a big.

Speaker 13 (27:21):
Loss and it's hard to repair. It can certainly be done,
but part of it is just is the realization that
we are human, that it's our empathy and our compassion
that actually make us vulnerable.

Speaker 6 (27:34):
So it's actually a good part of us, it is.

Speaker 13 (27:37):
It's the good part of us, the part that we
would never want to give up, but it is what
makes us vulnerable to this type of psychological and financial predator.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
Oh, by jeez. All right, So.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Our listener saying that he loves to lie gets a
rush out of it. Do you know anyone like that?
Have you been a victim of that? Eight and nineteen
nine k OSG? But how would you know if they're
that good at it?

Speaker 6 (28:04):
All right?

Speaker 1 (28:04):
So Therapy Thursday, it's also uh you'r lan K one
K Payday. It is the hour hips don't lie, Shakira,

Therapy Thursday, We're tackling your troubles.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
We were shocked. We'd never had a confession like that before.
And it talkback.

Speaker 6 (28:38):
Can we give his name?

Speaker 1 (28:40):
No?

Speaker 6 (28:40):
Actually, hey, want to see it and he wants to
stay anonymous.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
But he called and left us the talk back, and
he said that he lies and he loves it, and
it gives him a rush and a thrill, and he's
lost a lot of good potential partners that way, being
caught in his lies.

Speaker 6 (28:54):
But he can't stop, right. Alexa left us this talk back.

Speaker 16 (29:02):
Hey, Ellen, I heard that you were talking about people
who loved to lie a lot. I actually was friends
with a girl in high school who was insane, and
she would lie about every little thing. And one time,
before I could drive, my dad was dropping us off
from hanging out at the mall at her house and
she was embarrassed of the house that she lived in,
and so she made us drop her off three houses

(29:23):
away in front of a really nice house and made
me take a video and post it to make it
seem like she actually lived there.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Oh no, that makes me feel sad for her. Yeah, Alexa, Wow,
So I'll wait.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
She another one just popped up.

Speaker 16 (29:42):
And by the way, another huge liar.

Speaker 6 (29:44):
You have to watch Scamanda on Hulu.

Speaker 16 (29:47):
It's insane. Anyway, I love you.

Speaker 6 (29:49):
Guys so much.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Oh, thank you, Alexa. Yes, Skamanda is that's an ultimate
lie and then she lies again. It's a woman who
cancels down on her lies. Yeah, so that's on Hulu
right now. But if you've ever been exposed to someone
like our anonymous caller who who you know is lying
and then they get a rush out of it, Yeah,

(30:11):
call us. It's eight hundred and ninety two nine kost
and we know one thousand dollars it's coming up.

Speaker 6 (30:17):
It is Shakira. Hips don't lie. It could happen it anymore.

Speaker 7 (30:19):

Speaker 15 (30:30):
All so much.

Speaker 8 (30:31):
Coast one oh three point five.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
I mean, what a nice price.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
Shakira giving away a two hundred and eighty thousand dollars Lamborghini.
She did it in a contest and then gave the
winner ninety grand to maintain it.

Speaker 6 (30:44):
But it still wasn't enough money.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
Yeh, this car needs seventy dollars of gas every two days.
Remember I said nothing good ever happens in a Lamborghini.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
That's true. And she probably then had to pay taxes
on the ninety grand gift too.

Speaker 6 (30:59):
Absolutely, so she's selling it. B guess what this is? Why, Shakiraz.
It's purple and it's rare.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
She is going to sell it for eight hundred thousand dollars,
so she's going to make a huge profit and I
have to pay all those fees.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
All right, hipstone line, let's go. Who's this?

Speaker 11 (31:18):
I Dominique, Dominique.

Speaker 1 (31:20):

We are online dating.

Speaker 8 (32:09):
Coast one oh three point five Top stories Top of
the hour.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Good morning, I'm ellen k And the latest on Gene
Hackman's death and the death of his wife and dog
are puzzling authorities. They've labeled his passing suspicious. According to
a search warrant obtained by TMZ, A Santa Fe detective
who sought a search warrant wrote in his affidavit he
believes the death of the two deceased individuals to be
suspicious enough in nature to require an official search and investigation. Anyway,

(32:39):
they did that, and there were no obvious signs of
a gas leak. The daughter of Gene Hackman thinks it
may have been carbon monoxide poisoning. So there are still
details coming out and we'll keep you up to the
moment on that. It was so sad to wake up
to that news today. And eggflation, well, this one from
the USDA now predicting prices will increase by more than
forty percent of we make our way through spring and summer.

(33:02):
But this year McDonald's is celebrating the fifty year anniversary
of the egg McMuffin, and in honor of the occasion,
they're going to make the start of your day's even better.
McDonald's is laughing in the face of restaurants adding surcharges
by offering their egg mcmuffins for one dollar on National
Egg McMuffin Day this Sunday. It's available on their app.

(33:22):
The sandwich typically costs about sellers, so that is what

Speaker 6 (34:05):
It all started with this talkback.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
I must admit that I lie all the time. I've
lost a lot of great women because of that. But
the weird thing about it is that I kind of
get something out of it.

Speaker 3 (34:19):
I enjoy it.

Speaker 5 (34:21):
I get this rush of this control, this.

Speaker 11 (34:23):
Power that I have.

Speaker 6 (34:25):
All Right, Michelle Laguna Beach. You heard.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Our listener admit to loving lying. It's a therapy Thursday.
You say he's a narcissist, and you know about narcissists.

Speaker 15 (34:38):
What ultimately is happening is narcissists cannot bear their own
shame and so they must project it onto someone else,
and that's done through coercive control and power.

Speaker 6 (34:50):
Are you also a therapist?

Speaker 15 (34:52):
No, but I've just had to do a lot of
research because of I tend to marry ursus.

Speaker 6 (35:01):
Wait, how many narcissists have you married?

Speaker 9 (35:04):
Well?

Speaker 15 (35:04):
I had a very neglectful mother and then that set
me up. It grew me to think I had no value,
no self worth, and it grewed me to find people
like her that felt like manily, felt familiar.

Speaker 6 (35:19):
Okay, so how many? How many?

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Well?

Speaker 15 (35:23):
Two marriages?

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Yeah, I'm sorry about that. Well, look, you realize it
now you've You've gotten through it.

Speaker 15 (35:30):
Yes, and I can detect a lie from someone in
like less than a second.

a Grand Night and I didn't play for a day.
I felt like I was letting it down my team.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Oh no, yeah, I play Candy Crush. I'm not obsessed
with it though, like you were. Oh my god, it's bad.

Speaker 15 (36:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
I was on level three eight hundred and twenty two. Yeah,
I swear, yeah, Oh my god.

Speaker 6 (36:22):
Okay, Well, there's a woman in the UK.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
She got a six figure sum She developed a crippling
Candy Crush addiction and won two hundred and fifteen thousand
dollars in court for proving it. So she was on
a medication that would calm her impulse control, and so
she had no impulses when it came to candy Crush,
and she would just play it all day long. Anyway,

(36:46):
that led to virtual slot machines. Oh no, oh no,
it was like the gateway.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Yeah, I get it. She stopped paying this music out
of sect. Yes, I don't want to trigger her.
