Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the after show decompression session, doing what they do best,
clapping their gums for the ball.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Although I'm not going, I'm drenched like I'm going, and
I'm wearing all this to bring luck to the Texas
Rangers in their home moment.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
And you are going out tonight, You're going.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
To this after afternoons. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
See, that was one of the reasons I didn't really
try to get tickets to the opening day because first
of all, the traffic is going to be a bitch
yep and it would take me even longer to get
home after the games, all.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Because the first pitch is at three oh five. So
we do like afternoon games during the week, but opening day, Yeah,
the traffic's going to.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Be horrible, little bit.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Yeah, we'll see what happens here. Okay, So Ale's going
to be gone tomorrow. You got some business to take
care of, huh.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Back.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
On January twenty fifth, my big sis finally got freed
of her Parkinson's struggle. It was a decade long. Her
son and daughter, who are both in their early thirties now,
have been We have all been working and living closely together,
especially since losing Rose so we are getting her house
market ready this weekend. I'm going to be scrambling up

(01:19):
ladders and spackling nail holes, which sounds dirtyer that it
really is.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
That sound like a youph of measure for I don't.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Wish that on my worst enemy to deal with the
house after someone passes away, or even before it, because
like with my mom's house, and I know that your
mom lived with her two sisters, right, yes, and so
they had so many things, or her sisters in law.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, well no, my mom lived with her mother and
her aunt, which was my grandmother, and my grave, so
it was.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Like three people's houses in one.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
And my mom had kind of with the dementia, become
a hoarder and just dealing with that. So I don't
wish that on anyone.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Well, my sister was quite the decorator. Interior, exterior, and
the front yard. There's bedazzling stuff on the trees, there's
windshimes hanging and signs, and there's there's the driftwood art
on the inside and all that. So there's a lot
for me to do this weekend. But I'll tell you what, Anna,
you hit it right on the head. Losing Roslin was

(02:23):
hard on the three of us especially, but we were
also relieved because she was free.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Right Yes, walking around in.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
That house is absolutely heartbreaking for us right now because
it's totally her. Yeah, it's all of her stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Probably a little eerie too, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
It can be like none of us wanted to go
sleep in the master bedroom after she passed away, and
we were all staying there, like, oh, the master bedroom's open,
and like, I think we'll use that for an office. Yeah,
you know, that's where she went.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
But I will like for advice for anybody that's going
through this is if you do have an estate sale,
of course you want to save money. Yeah, one of
the most heartbreaking things is having people go through your
family's stuff and picking over it and then having them
drive off with it, and it just breaks your heart
over and over and over again.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
I wouldn't want to be there during the estate So.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Next weekend, don't do that.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
No. Yeah, And I'm going to mess that house, thank you.
And I'm going to miss that house a lot. And
I really am going to enjoy myself despite the fact
that scrambling up ladders with spackle is a pain in
the ass. I'm going to enjoy spending some time at
that house because we had a lot of good time here. Yes,
this is going to be the last time I'm going
to see it as my sister's house. So I'm helping

(03:39):
out the kids and they have been fantastic through this
whole thing.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
So did she live in Atlanta.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
She lives forty five minutes north of Atlanta, uPAR near
Lake Lanier is where her house is and her she's
been family in up there for a couple decades now.
But yeah, we're all if you go back to our
wife older younger days. For me and my sister, we
were Atlanteans, Yeah, and we survived.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
I was gonna say, if you don't go eat at
the varsity near Georgia Tech, you just have no dear.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
I always there was some way I could bring you
back an orange Freezy and a couple of big old
doubles and they.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Would just be hot dogs. Now, yeah, the hot dogs
are good too.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
They'd be a science experiment by the time I got
back to Texas.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
But I'd want to see if the guy still works
there that goes, well, you have well you have.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
You know in San Antonio in uh marketplace, the Mi
Tierra restaurant. One of my favorite waiters there. He used
to always like carry the plates, you know, the tray
and hees. He'd always sing, be careful, plate, he's hot.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Careful.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
So like what you're saying is like that always sticks
in your head.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
You know, you get a show what you That's right,
little personality. You know what else they have now in
Atlanta bo They have a Varsity Junior in North Atlanta now,
which is it's much less of a pain in the
ass than downtown next to the ballpark, and you can
whip right in there and you can get fat, fatter, faster, fatter.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
I'd want to go to the original one just to
see if that guy still works there.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
It is quite a sight. And in nineteen ninety six,
the Olympics are in downtown Atlanta, so right next to
the Varsity is the giant Olympic torch. Oh wow, cool,
pretty cool. You can scramble up the inside of it
and look kind of like you can with the Statue
of Liberty. It's neat.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Let's go to the top of the torch.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
We know you need to hit the road, so drive
carefully and we will see you on Tuesday, all right.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
You'll behave while I'm gone. You're in good hands with
Danny Miles and he's already here training with me. He's
ready to rock.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
All right, man, be careful on your trip and sorry
you have to even make the trip.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Now, It's all good, it's all good. I'm so proud
of her kids. They made it easy. So I'll be
back for you know.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
It to do is like to grab something that, like
you know, really reminds you of her and say goodbye
and thank you. Okay, when you touch it, like you know,
you give that energy and then you let it go.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Yeah, that's a great idea, absolutely.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
And that sounds like something Deborah would say. Yes, there's
got such beautiful.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Aura around her.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
You say thank you and I let you go.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
I will and yeah, right before I walk out of
that house for the last time, I think I'll put
my hand on the front door and send up a
message like that. That's cool and thank you everybody commenting
and wishing me safe travels. Which the same for our
rascual Kennon Borg. He also lost his sister and he's
heading west towards the Panhandle for the same kind of
affairs right now, so we want yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
All right, you guys, as we say, keep it between
the ditches and we'll have our Friday show.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Tomorrow tomorrow with Brady Matthews joining us.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Fun I have a good one.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
If you don't have a good one, by one, well
see you tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
By h.
