What what's happening? Rainy day? Yeah, it's back on for
today though, one day too many springtime, it's.
Speaker 5 (00:51):
Not even uh what do they say? April showers, may flowers? Yeah,
well it's March.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, so I get an April shower, March showers equal,
no flowers, no flowers.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
No, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
What's happening?
Speaker 7 (01:08):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:08):

Speaker 6 (01:25):
Oh we did not? We lost an extranings yesterday?
Speaker 1 (01:27):
What round? Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:30):
First round? First round? Yeah, first round of the bracket.
It's all right though. It's all right though. You know
they're ten who cares? Yeah, they're ten years old. Man,
it happens. They are ten. Hey, you have aged one again.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
They are the first team in Big twelve history to
ever have eighteen conference wins.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
That's what I didn't know that. Yeah, after last night's win.
They were the first team ever. They said it last night.
I didn't hear. So was it an article or they
say it on a broadcast?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:58):
No, I'm just uh you got a stat there, Yeah,
I just have a stat here.
Speaker 6 (02:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, that is uh impressive, man, considering there's been some
pretty good basketball played in the uh in the uh
twelve Big twelve, So that doesn't surprise me that they uh,
I mean, it surprised me that happened, but doesn't surprise
me they're the ones that did it.
Speaker 6 (02:17):
Yeah, it's impressive Melon.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Sub sixty Kansas. It was a They've done some amazing,
amazing things this year. I got this. I think this
team can win the whole thing, you know.
Speaker 5 (02:29):
And it's it's uh funny how that works because coming
into the season and then early on in the season,
there were national media pundits that were, ah, u of h,
is this the season that they're going to have a
down season?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Fire six seed? And look at them twenty six and four.
It's n characteristic early losses and maybe that, maybe that,
but they you know, got beat and then they've gone
on a run. They hell, they haven't lost and.
Speaker 6 (02:56):
It was nineteen to twenty two weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
There you go, so it and they've won the last two, so,
I mean, our last they are. It's been a while,
and they dominate the conference. I mean with the way
they've played this year, it's pretty impressive. Man, what they've
done in conference. And it's one of the best basketball
conferences in the country, and adding uh did nothing to
make it better and they are the best team in it.
(03:20):
So but the tournament is going to be none of
the conference championships. But the tournament's going to be a blast.
And I loved watching them do their thing again last night.
And they know how to win a bunch of different ways,
and I think this is a team that can win
the whole thing because I don't see one team that's
clearly better than everybody else.
Speaker 6 (03:40):
Last time they lost February.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
First, there you go it's been a minute. Their losses.
Think about that. Their losses all came in like what December, January.
I mean they've only had.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
What four Yeah, So they lost to Auburn early early
in the season, into San Diego State early, yep, early,
and then Texas Tech. So let's see one to Oh
there was an Alabama lost in there as well. So Auburn, Alabama,
San Diego State, and Texas Tech.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yeah. Well three of those teams at some point this
year been ranked in that. I think Texas Tech crept
up to top ten, didn't they. Texas Tech, Yeah, they
got into the top ten at one point. Yeah, that's
when they beat them. When they went into Lubbing and
beat them, they were number ten in the nation. And
both Alabama and Auburn have been in the top five.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
So the three of those lost, and San Diego State's
a good basketball program, right, So this is they didn't
get beat by a hack, I can tell you that,
and so and battle tested but fresh legged. I would
hope by the time the tournament starts, and they've just
been spectacular the last couple months, then it's been a
great watch.
Speaker 9 (04:44):
Ye.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
And I'm pretty sure Duke just beat the Brakes off
of Wake Forest last night, ninety three to sixty.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
Goodness.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Yeah, these conference tournaments are going to be a blast
to watch, how much they're not quite the NCTA Tournament,
but I love them just as much as basketball after
basketball after basketball.
Speaker 6 (04:59):
Cooper Flag last night for Duke twenty eight points.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Guys, they've had some great freshmen roll through there. He
may be as good as any of them that they've
ever had roll through Duke. That's saying something. At one point,
Grant Hill was a freshman. Christian Laitner was a freshman.
They've had, Johnny Dawkins was a freshman. This kid's playing
about as good as you can play as a hell
as a guy who's an NBA player. I mean he is.
He's got every tool and he is a great player.
(05:26):
He don't play like a freshman, I can tell you that,
and one of the best they've ever had.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
They had senior Night last night for the Cougars, and
I mean, it's just I tweeted it out, just more
proof that Kelvin Sampson is one of the best coaches,
and not just in college basketball, but in all of basketball.
Got emotional with his seniors last night and then when
Dawn Roberts came out, he full blown, I mean tears
are shed, yeah, hugging him. And if you know anything
(05:51):
about Jawan Roberts, I know you do, Sean, but sixty
years at University Houston. Stayed there from his freshman year.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
On, Yeah, he sure did. And he's been a great
benefit for kel when Sampson he's last few I mean
well since he's been here, but to you know, stretch
it out, stay here the whole time in a time
when people leave for the league and also leave for
other schools. It's just also a tribute to Kelvin Sampson
because I can guarantee you as much love as he
has from those two probably had some tough love moments
(06:17):
on the court where he's had to coach him hard.
And good players, smart players that are great kids too.
They don't get offended when they're coached hard. Unfortunately, we're
in a society now. You get a coach hard, the
kid wants to leave, transfer, the parents are mad, or
as an adult, he just can't. They can't handle it.
A guy like him, that's what that's the thing that
he does, and he grooms them for more than just basketball.
(06:39):
And I freaking love it. Show me a kid who
can't take tough coaching or tough love, and I'll show
you somebody who'll get eliminated along the way when it
comes to as an athlete. They'll fall by the wayside
because you're not gonna get you as kiss the whole time. Yeah,
And it's you got to know when to put a
foot in the rear in and when to put an
arm around him. And Kevin Sampson's done that about as
well as any coach in America since he's been here.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
You know, we always talk about kind of the uh,
how today's society is extremely soft, especially in athletics. It's fact,
you know obviously in my me coaching youth baseball, I'm
now coaching a TENU team, it is more and more
evident how caught and I'm not talking about my team,
just being around the atmosphere, how coddled some of these
(07:22):
kids are.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
It's a problem, man Like, it is an absolute problem.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
I think it's the biggest aside from the fact that
we got a bunch of jokers in the that represent
states that want men to play in women's sports. If
you're not offended by that, then you're part of the problem,
didn't I just see was it fake news or was
it true that it got that the bill got forty failed.
It failed because all Democrats, and they list them all
(07:47):
said no, no, they they, which basically means there they
approve of men coming into your women's sports and taking
your gold medal, taking your scholarship taken of You can say, oh, Shawn,
are you in tolerant of that? You're damn right, I
am right there, Just the same when they walk off
the court after beating some woman in a boxing match
and go to the restroom, go in the men's room. Okay,
that's where they belong, right, So yeah, I'm intolerant of
(08:07):
both when it comes to that. Yeah, okay, So I'm
a I got a daughter, and anybody that's got one,
even if you don't, you should know better. So that
I digress on. I'll get to that at some point.
It may have to be on Twitter, but I'm gonna
get to it because that's just it's disgraceful. So does
it shock you how society is. It's the softest society
(08:29):
on the planet right now, and it's an embarrassment.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
Yeah, I knew it was bad, but just I've coached
two ten U tournaments and just the things I hear
things that is the that I see. I don't understand
why parents are so afraid to want first of all,
let coaches coach and let their kid fail.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Let little Johnny sit the freaking bench. See, it's not
the ten year old's problem. No, it's not because they
it's like anything else, it's learned, or it's the coddle.
Then you get to a point you're doing them. Say
if you say, well, don't parent my kid, I ain't
parenting your kid. And I just think you're an idiot
if you coddle them and don't let them go through
and get kicked in the mouth.
Speaker 6 (09:04):
Once in a while.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Yeah, and you know what, Unfortunately, sometimes it's gonna actually
be literally get kicked in the mouth and get a
scar above there are the world's knocking in when they
scrape their knee because they got their ass kicked on
a you know, playing basketball in the outdoor basketball court,
they're gonna be okay, yeah right, or coming in they
have to play backup shortstop or backup quarterback. Guess what
learn a lesson? If you can't handle it, oh well,
(09:25):
better to get struck with adversity. When you live under
mom's roof, who can make you a blowney sandwich than
when you're out on your own and nobody's taking care
of you but your damn self. So yeah, you could
say it's the parents that are the adults in the
room in Washington everywhere are the problem.
Speaker 6 (09:38):
Yeah, big problem.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Okay, coddling a kid and telling a ten year old
kid you're a Division one player. No you're not. You're
not a Division one player ten because guess what you're
still in about the fifth friggin grade. Okay, it's so
I'm telling you. I see it all the time. Fortunately,
a lot of the ones I coach are phenomenal. But
I'm not even just talking about football, but I'm talking
about it all over. When it comes to it, most
(10:00):
just want the best kids to play, but they also
want kids to have an opportunity to compete and maybe,
just maybe these kids and when things aren't going well,
they had to go home and their parents and then
look in the mirror instead of it the coach. If
you don't like the coach that's coaching them, that's the same.
They'll go to five different coaches. Dude, they're not see
you know, you like the coach when he's kissing your
(10:20):
ass and making sure your kid gets a hitting third
in the lineup or starting even though he shouldn't be.
That's when they like him. Okay, the good parents and
there I listen, I'm around ninety nine percent of them.
Or what we're talking about on the right side is
you go compete, man, you go. I can give you
endless examples of parents when I say, you know what,
matter of fact, when I'm coaching them and sometimes let
(10:41):
letter rep go, I can see the parents are more
bothered by it than I am. It's gonna be okay,
we're practicing. That's why we're out here on the field
to make sure we get it right for Fridays or whatever.
I just am to to me to say, and it
gets softer and softer, But listen, what else do they
got to look at? Coddling them? And they got all
the best gear, all the best opportunity, all the best thing.
But if you're not playing them, that means just because
(11:03):
they got the best risk bands, they're supposed to be
the best player. Yeah, and there's a lot of and
sometimes you do got to change coaches. Great, but it's
always it's we live in and I confess he did
it society, I confess it's somebody else's fault. And while
we want our kids to be protected, there's a difference
between protecting and coddling, right, Okay, protecting and coddling. And
we know the difference is does everybody listening?
Speaker 10 (11:25):
So?
Speaker 1 (11:25):
And I won't back off it if I'm not telling
you how to raise your kid. But I can tell
you this, if you if you coddle the kid and
don't let him go through adversity, your kid's gonna get
left behind when it comes to that sport, whoever's coaching,
because I don't listen. I don't care if you're donating
five billion dollars to the community. I could care less.
If the other kid who's not is better than you,
(11:45):
he'll start. It's pretty pretty simple in my book. I mean,
I won't let him compete, But if you're if you
can't take any adversity, I'm the wrong guy to be.
I'm the wrong guy to handle that. I'm the wrong
guy for it. But I'm also the right I'm a
self esteem builder. But self esteem also doesn't mean coddling. Yeah,
matter of fact, some of the best selfiest team I've
ever had by getting my ass kick.
Speaker 6 (12:04):
Yeah, by failing, that's exactly right.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
Yeah, the more you toddle, the less competitive your son
or daughter is going to be.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Straight up are soft, and then the failures hit a
lot harder than the successes. So you better be prepared.
That's what I'm trying. I try to teach ten year
olds right now, like, do you're gonna fail? You are
gonna fail in baseball? You are, it's gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
And then you got oh, it's gonna be okay, Oh,
come here, give mommy a hug. Literally had a mom
this weekend on my team because this kid was crying
in the dugout because he was over the century hug
and kiss his son in the middle of a game,
on the middle of the game.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
That's just.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
I had to walk over and be like, hey, let him,
let him deal with it. Leave. Yeah, yeah, quite literally.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Well he's I don't know who he is and don't
need to mention names, but he's no longer on the team. Yeah,
well he doesn't have much of a shot if that's
gonna be the case.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
No longer on the team.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (13:00):
The tough lessons learned. Buddy, what are you gonna do?
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Unbelievable, man, It's just that we we have an issue
in this country. We have an issue right here in
the city of Houston. Figure it out.
Speaker 6 (13:08):
Stop. Just let your kids fail. They'll be fine.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Youth in high school sports are at the very top
of it.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
Good god, man, youth is the worst. Yeah. Also, did
you see what happened at the cheer competition in Dallas.
You want to talk about parents being the worst?
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Yeah, there's more proof. Dudes were fighting at a cheerleading competition. Okay,
go ahead and say it again about the you know,
the youth and stuff. Yeah. Remember I as a as
a coach who privately trains them, I get to choose.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Ask me again, and I don't ask me again why
I haven't taken a high school coaching jab yet because
of the parents. And asked me why I haven't taken
Why I've never ever ever coached. I've helped around, but
why I've never taken a full head coach job on
a Pop Warner team Because the parents will drive you.
That's the only reason. Yeah, I love those kids. I
didn't even listen when it got to a certain age.
Once I taught my kids how to do it respectfully,
I turned it over somebody else. I was gonna be
(13:57):
a dad. But in this case, why do you think
with Peaci, why why won't you coach up? You want
to know why? Because I don't need to. I don't
need to tell every kid they're the best in the
world every single day. They're gonna have to learn that
on their own. I'm a self esteem builder, but I'm
not an ask kiss and I just won't do it,
and so it's not well you can make it. Yeah,
that's why I get to pick and choose the ones
I work with. See what I'm saying. Yeah, and guess
(14:19):
where it starts. Guess who I'm recruiting first. I will
find it out about the parent. Exactly. You got to
recruit the parent. I'm unfortunate my parents, the parents idea
with are really really good. Yeah. And part of it
is I get to you get to sift through those things, right, Okay,
if you're a helicopter parent, I'm the wrong guy. You.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
I'll put your ass through the work too.
Speaker 11 (14:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (14:35):
Exactly, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 5 (14:38):

Let the celebration start war Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
It's it's an egregious offense by you, It really is.
I mean, what do you really what do you really
break it down? When we when we break break down
the metrics, the analytics, the x's and o's, the bitches
and the hose and the boats and hose, all that
stuff is zoids when you just break all of them
down to brass tacks. Ah, the brass fact that you
haven't that you know total from the group, not from
(16:51):
the dog. Now that you've never laid eyes on Oh
you know you've never laid eyes on Jim. Yeah, you
never laid eyes.
Speaker 6 (16:59):
On I know that. I know that.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Yeah. Yeah, the cowardly lies. Oh yeah, trying to find
his laughter. Believe the coward Oh Toto, dude, Toto is
a gamer. Yeah. The fact that you've never seen the
Wizard Wizard of Oz is as egregious as you're saying
(17:23):
you didn't know who Jack Nicholson was. I know, remember
that time you said that. Remember when we time we
said Wayne Gretzky never heard of him. No, I remember
when you said Tom Brady thought he played he was
a white slot receiver.
Speaker 11 (17:35):
No.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
But the fact that you don't know Toto you know
the group. The fact that you know the fact that
you know total the group and not total from Wizard
of Oz, huh tells me you're still not quite the cutmaster.
But checked that out total of the Dog from Wizard
of Oz. Wow, you thought I was just making it up? No,
I just you know, I just learned something new every day.
Great effort by you on the Wizard of Oz movie,
(17:56):
though Terry the Dog's real name, Terry Terry was also Toto. Yeah.
She was rescued by a dog trainer, starred in several films.
It became a Hollywood legend. She was a cane terrier. Yeah,
but you wouldn't know that, Brian, because you never saw.
Are you humiliated a little bit?
Speaker 6 (18:19):
No?
Speaker 5 (18:19):
No, she lived to be twelve years old. Actually, good
life man, good run. Yeah, no, I never just seems kind.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Of be careful. Now seems I'm being careful. Yeah, don't ever, No,
don't don't don't do that. No, I don't say overrated?
And and.
Speaker 6 (18:41):
Yeah, sure, which one is it? The old one?
Speaker 1 (18:45):
The cowardly Lion? That whatever? The original was? Okay, I
got you? You you we could ever fight crying the
fact you haven't seen it? Is it really as big
as that's as big as grace? She might as well
just go rob a bank.
Speaker 6 (18:58):
Wanted it come out?
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Okay, just go rob a bank and put a mask on.
Okay and call it twenty twenty and let's get on
with it. And when did it come out? I think
it was was the original? See, I mean you're talking
back in the original when she was a kid was
the forties, fifties?
Speaker 6 (19:13):
Are you state it was?
Speaker 1 (19:16):
I was say in the forties?
Speaker 6 (19:18):
What the hell?
Speaker 5 (19:19):
It's based on the nineteen hundred novel and it was
released in nineteen thirty nine.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
Oh okay, so so for thirty nine?
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Yeah? Have you ever heard have you ever heard of
the actress who the lead in that, Judy Garland? Do
you know who that is? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (19:34):
I know she's Dorothy You know who? Do you know
who Judy Garland's daughter is? Yeah, we went over this.
It's Meryl Street.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
No it's not.
Speaker 5 (19:42):
Yeah, okay, what's her daughter's name? It's Eliza Minelly? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, dude,
that's acting royalty. Man, I know this, I got you
got it?
Speaker 12 (19:51):
Yeah, screepy, turn it off.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
I haven't slept it of them.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
That's gonna give me nightmare. Oh man, dude, I told
you did I not hit that one?
Speaker 6 (20:19):
It's pretty good?
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Yeah it that That clip will probably make you don't
want to go see Wizard of Oz. But Cowardly Lion's
looking for some you know something else. I'm probably not
gonna watch it. You should. Great performance by Judy Garland
and and the uh the Lion the Scarecrow and the
(20:43):
Tin Man. I thought total was off the charts. I
thought it was Meryl Streep. Was Meryl Streep, was Judy
Garland's daughter? No, but the girl for the lady from
uh uh Special Victims Unit. You know, the lead who's
been there forever. Oh oh my gosh, you know. Yeah,
she's Live with With with the Chris Maloney has been
(21:07):
the actor there for all those times.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
Live sv What is her real name, Olivia? I'm sorry,
Olivia Benson is her name in the show. And that
is Marisco. That's Jane. That's Jane Manfield's daughter. And you
don't know who that is either. Yeah, she was a
pent up.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Think about the old iconic do you remember the photo,
the old iconic photo of Sophia Lawrenn sitting at a
table right next to her left Sophia, there was like
a formal either a post party or something, but they
were maybe it was a post Ostecars party. I think
that's might have been what it is. But they're sending
a table dressed up and Sophia Laurrenn didn't have tremendous
(21:48):
upper body strength, but a classic beauty right, So she's
turning to her left and Jane Mansfield is tremendous upper
body strength and cleaved shown right, and you can see
the iconic picture of it. Was almost discussed that Sophia
Laurn's looking down, Jane Mansfield's looking to her left, while
Sophil Laurn's on her right and got a smile on
her face, and Sophil Laurren is staring down at her
(22:11):
upper body strength with this look of disgust on Jane Mansfield.
Because Mansfield was like she was like a pin up guest.
She was kind of like a Maryland you know, everybody
had her pinned up at their mechanic shop and in
their place. Side eye. Yeah, he ain't lying about the
body strength. Yeah, so and that was Mansfield. She died.
Speaker 6 (22:29):
She was beheaded in an accident. What beheaded? That's how
she died.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
And she was she's Mariska Hargate's mother. Really absolutely, that
is brutal. Ye, true story. There's no fin too to
ola though, Yeah, well who is? Yeah you know, so yeah,
you gotta roll up off ice the tee. Just get
up off tea, man iced tea, get off tea. But
that's that. So a little history lesson on Jane Mansfield.
And that's one of the most iconic you know how
(22:53):
the Muhammad Ali when he's standing over that, that one
of the that that iconic photo right there is one
of the all timers, like Marylyn row standing over whenever
dress gets blown up, right, that's one of the most
iconic photos of all times. Sophia Ren who's one of
the all time beauties. He's looking down like either I
wish I had those or probably what it is or
someone like me doesn't need those, And I'm not sure
(23:14):
what attitude.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
I think it's probably like damn.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Yeah, combine even before the common here combine freak lady.
Speaker 6 (23:21):
Yeah yeah, Hey, do you guys break down the combine?
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (23:24):
Sure you wanted that today? We could do it today.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
We didn't want to. We don't do a lot of
combine to time and a lot of a lot of
stuff surrounding Shador Sanders and in his lase fair attitude
like I'm bigger than this.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (23:38):
There were some reporters and I also read that, uh,
I guess a quarterback coach and a current team that's
in the top seven was like not want yeah, arrogant, yeah,
lack of daysical.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
If you will, I do not trust this year's quarterback class, buddy.
As in the NFL now, somebody may try to be
a star, yeah, and it may not be. It may
be somebody drafted in the third round. But on the
other side of it is that last year's quarterback class
turned out to be really frigging good. And we haven't
even seen the best of Drake man, I assure you
we will. And Caleb Williams having his new coach, is
(24:13):
gonna be and he's a play making Jesse. He just
got to learn how to make the simple stuff right.
But we got in bow Nicks, we got Jayden Daniels,
is a no brainer. I mean, you think about the class,
they've got a lot to do. I don't think I
at least going in. You know, sometimes Jayden Daniels walked
off the team bus and was starting from the time
he got there right rightfully, so he wanted a job.
(24:33):
I don't see this happening. I don't see it being
that for unless you force feed him and force him
into it. And then that tells you what's Cleveland gonna do? Man,
that's a good question. What is Cleveland gonna do with
all that? And what they got to What do you do,
you draft one, you're, in essence, say and the other
guy's gone. If you don't draft one, you're saying, we're
committed to this guy because we're all there's only one
(24:55):
reason that they got to keep him. It's because of
the money they paid him. And that goes back to
Andrew Berry, who gave two hundred and thirty extra man
guaranteed dollars and wonders why the team's in a bind.
Guy has played like slop since he's been there when
he plays right, and now you're faced with that. And
then if you do draft dude, you got a chance
to be in another bust. Think about it. God, can
you imagine that poor franchise. It's just that's what I mean.
(25:19):
When I met the franchise, I'm at the fan base.
Speaker 13 (25:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
When I played against the Cleveland we had Burnie A.
Speaker 6 (25:23):
Cozarn.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Let me tell you something, Brotter you you were in
for a fist fight every time you played them, and
those fans were crazy and fun and great.
Speaker 6 (25:30):
They sit well. Since him, it's.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Been this kind of blah, Yeah, Baker long a little bit. Yeah,
and you never got you haven't you haven't got. It's
a long list of first round picks that haven't been
able to survive it. I just can't believe Andrew Berry
still has a job. It pays to know good people,
and it pays to have the boss love you. If
the big Boss loves you, we can all sit back.
But he put him in. I don't see if they
go out and do this and they have another bad year.
(25:52):
How you how any of them survive it? Yeah, even
though Stefanski had two different plays, been the coach year twice.
They're in a bind man. Can you imagine being the
first pick in your mind of who you're gonna draft.
You should be like, this is awesome franchised right and
your your your hands are tied because of it? Yeah,
and how you're gonna do it? It'll say a draft
days gonna be allowed message what they have to do.
Probably they either got to just gut it out and
(26:13):
take deal with Watson and draft somebody like Hunter or whoever.
Or they got to move down and try to go
get another quarterback. I don't know what they're gonna do.
I don't know crazy. I know if I need a
new roof, I know what I need to do. A
little country boys roofing John's probably fat can when when
is Marty Graus?
Speaker 6 (26:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
I feel like Marty Grau has been going off like
three weeks. Yeah right, I can't tell it over is.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
It's still were still slinging beads and stuff. I don't know,
but I do know this John's there was there is there.
I don't know. Did it en over the weekend? Hell,
I don't even know. Marty Graus does seem like it's
like like ladies in their birthday month. Hey, your birthday
was when twenty days ago? But I'm still celebrating. So
dudes are doing that now too, as we talked about.
But John's out there having fun with country boys. Roofing
(26:56):
is the best in the business country with the k boys,
with the Z. He help you navigate those insures, claims,
no job is too big or too small. They'll go
anywhere in Houston for you at a time when price
gougings at a premium. Right, people love it, boy, Let
me get him there and desperate need a roof, a
shingle of a half the roof came off or blue
off in a storm, or it's an old one. John's
gonna go fix it and country Boy's Roofing is gonna
fix it for the right reasons because they want you
(27:18):
to be safe. When you meant, if you're a first
responder military educator, one thousand, five hundred dollars discount on
the full roof. When you go get your you know
to have them give you an estimate fifteen hundred discount
on the full roof, not on two shingles on the
full roof, and then a thousand if you're not one
of those just mentioned my name, Sean Salisbury, and you'll
get yourself a thousand dollars discount. Everything's right when it
(27:38):
comes to Country Boys roofing and family owned and local
owned and operated in that what you want somebody who
puts personal touch to it instead of some big conglomerate
that doesn't care who you are. They just want to
get paid. That's not John, and he'll protect you and
he'll protect your roof better than anybody. Country Boys roofingllc

Speaker 5 (28:04):
I want to say he had twenty three let me
double check got them my notes here. The basic white
kid he had twenty five points. Cam Whitmore forty minutes
last night dropped twenty seven and eleven had him a
double dub wit Yeah, man, Cam Whitmore and Reed Shepherd
(28:25):
showing out baby, and they they lost one thirty seven twenty.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Well the first thing to showing out, Yeah, showing up.
You gotta show up, Yeah, gotta show up. There you go.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Yeah, tough game, man, Oklahoma City is really freaking good.
They've also eleven times this year. Eleven times.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
That's it. Let's get out to the phone line.
Speaker 5 (28:43):
Seven one three two point two five seven ninety Roger,
what's happening this morning?
Speaker 11 (28:48):
Ah, good morning, fellas. Yeah.
Speaker 14 (28:50):
I was looking at those tubes best.
Speaker 11 (28:52):
Type man, you know, for the for the first time,
and I know that I know they'd be good for
a while, but this is the first time rocking state.
Yeah they can, they can really, uh you know, but
maybe maybe offer my might stand in their way. But man,
I really think that these guys can just go on
a crazy run in that tournament and just run the
table and then they look really good. I mean, they
(29:15):
they are solid. They can shoot. Now, that's the problem,
that's the that's a big difference. These guys can shoot,
and you shoot them with the best of them. They
can really say that. For all other times they've been
in the tournament and been been good, their defense has
always been their calling card, of course, but many I
like their I like the way they look this year.
They look different, They're more, they look better than that's
(29:36):
saying something. They've been good for a while. On the astros, man,
I'm not sure. Well, how you don't go into the
season and Cas Smith is not on your roster.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
I'm sorry you're.
Speaker 11 (29:49):
Using a spot starter and the defensive applacement with Jake
Myers and Uh. I haven't seen anything from uh from
Chas McCormick yet, uh Man, I mean this kit should
be logging shagging balls in the outfield like every chance
he gets. Because that guy's a beast man. I mean,
he's he's obviously gonna be gonna be good. I mean,
(30:11):
I don't understand. It's not like you can't find he
had batchbam if I have plenty of bathroom, you know
that that.
Speaker 15 (30:17):
I feel it's.
Speaker 11 (30:17):
Horrible because and the only solid, the only solid guy
that might be might be only his own and it's
gonna be his first time there.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 11 (30:28):
Man, they got points of that bassroom for the cast
to put him on the roster. Man, that's all I say.
That's it's gonna be a beast.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
That's all I got, Roger. That goes back to the
over protection of this stuff. And I understand and you'll
get that. I see it all the time. Well what
if the kid loses confidence and he wasn't real good,
wasn't gonna be a guy anyway. I mean, it's just
(30:57):
I don't we worry so much? And goes back to
the cot thing. Go to cam Smith and if you
asked him today, said hey, Cam, well, I'd like to know, uh,
do you do you if you have tough times? Is
it really gonna ruin you? Where are you gonna learn quicker?
What would he say? You probably said that if he
didn't give you the company line, he probably said the
(31:19):
big leagues, Yeah, I would think you think so. Yeah,
Yeah I do too.
Speaker 6 (31:24):
But you know the company line is I was going
to be there. Hey, I'm I'm looking.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
At wherever they want to send me. I'll be prepared.
I got a lot of stuff I gotta work on.
But deep down, when he said with his buddies, he's saying,
hell yeah, I'm ready. That's part of what makes the
great ones great. They're not afraid to fail, which'll hit him.
Speaker 6 (31:41):
Right that failure again.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (31:43):
Let's talk to Pat.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
What what is triple? What's this note here? Uh?
Speaker 6 (31:47):
What you guys were talking about earlier? I guess with
the wizard a off?
Speaker 1 (31:50):
What's up Pat?
Speaker 8 (31:53):
Hey?
Speaker 16 (31:53):
Yeah, yeah, I was just gonna that's an urban legend
about her head being chopped off.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
I don't I don't know. I've heard that plenty of times, man,
that it was partially severed in a in an accident.
Speaker 16 (32:04):
Right, the top of her head was partially severed. But
there was a she had a wig in the car
that got thrown outside the car, and that led you
got to remember back when that happened and her wig
out there, and that's what led to the rumors of
her head being chopped on.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
But yeah, she did have severed part of her head. Yeah, exactly. No,
it wasn't like right out of a Halloween, the Halloween
movie where he chopped it had it goes rolling down
the Mike Meer Street exactly. But the top of the
top part of her skull was was severed, which is
people called being added, but it wasn't. It didn't go
(32:41):
flying out the window and roll had an hour a
half a mile down the street, down the hill and
it was sitting there. That's exactly right, so to be specific,
but you know, because you look the same way I did.
But beheaded means part of her skull, a big part
was taken off at the top in in that accident.
Speaker 16 (32:56):
So and those three kids were in the backseat and
then they were asleep or laying down, and that they
were minor injuries.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Yeah, what what I mean if there was a blessing
out of it, that the kids were laying down, that's
a good point by you. Yeah, devastation.
Speaker 16 (33:13):
Yeah, but yeah, you know, like you said, you got
it right. But like some people, you know, think of
that our old head was cut off.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Right right from the neck right, which wasn't the case,
No doubt. Appreciate it, brother, Thank you, thank you real quick.
Speaker 5 (33:26):
I had h The rockets are back in action today,
astros are actually off.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
I had those screwed up here in my notes my bad.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
Day off and against rockets and Pacers tonight that's a win,
I hope.
Speaker 6 (33:41):
No, yeah, it'll be a win for sure.
Speaker 11 (33:42):
Tonight.
Speaker 5 (33:44):
They've been struggling a bit. I mean, we'll figure it out.
I hope, I hope. Yeah, so I had that to
a little screwed up. It's my bad, dog.
Speaker 6 (33:53):
You know, things happened, Dog corrected, You're good.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
Was that planning against what's his name? What's that rapper's name? Off?
Speaker 5 (34:04):
That was on the Breakfast Club Kodak Black? That's right, Okay,
that's what I thought it was, man, I hope. So
he got a who's the Breakfast Club? These nuts?
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Well, what is that? Who's Who's who? Shows?
Speaker 5 (34:15):
Charlamagne the God, uh, dj Envy and it used to
be Angela yee. I don't know who's on there now Yeah,
I don't know who. That's the show that Dank Demos
was on.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
Oh maybe it's just Ye Yeah, no, no, no, no, no,
it's not Ye.
Speaker 6 (34:29):
He's like off the rocker right now.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
So now, yeah, dude, he's walking around with a shirt
with a swastik on it.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
He is an idiot. He's got he's got a few
metal issues. I'd say, just a couple. He's a French
Fries short of the Happy. Yeah, Kanye West is an idiot.
Just call him straight up, Just call him. No, he's
a he's a jackass. You can't call him jackass. Yes,
only when he's not a jackass. You can throw yee
in the correct You ready to get the other side?
(35:01):
I am. I absolutely get to the other side of it. Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (35:08):

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Get back at it.
Speaker 5 (36:20):
Steve Miller band of Steve on the phone lines here
on the Shawn South.
Speaker 6 (36:24):
Steve don't know nothing about the Miller Steve Miller Man, Steve.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Miller Ban Steven.
Speaker 17 (36:28):
Oh, good morning guys.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
How a y'all doing?
Speaker 6 (36:30):
Good?
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Man?
Speaker 17 (36:31):
Hey, I wanted to ask you a question, Cam, what
what position does he play?
Speaker 1 (36:35):
Left field? Right field?
Speaker 13 (36:37):
Now?
Speaker 1 (36:37):
They put him in right field, third base, and that
obviously means he's a big enough body to handle first base.
I would imagine, so corner outfield, corner infield guy.
Speaker 17 (36:45):
Okay, then why isn't he playing out there in left field?
Because I was watching the game. I don't know if
it was yesterday or the day before, and if you
I don't know if you guys are watching it, but
the balls that are hit aw twove and I I've
played baseball, and when you're playing outfield and you're playing
when you're playing infield, it's a completely different game. And
(37:10):
I don't think, I don't think. I don't think this
this little project is going to work because number one,
number one.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
TV is just not tall enough.
Speaker 17 (37:19):
A couple of balls, if I know, at least one
has went over his head and he's just not reacting
fast enough and and and getting the.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Ball flight fast enough. And that's just my opinion.
Speaker 17 (37:32):
But uh, that was my astros take, and I'd like
to hear what you guys think. But on the Rockets,
you know, I watched I've been watching this Rockets team
because I'm really excited. I've watched the last couple of drafts,
and you know, I think they're about a one season
maybe two seasons away. My take is, I think they
(37:53):
got to get a legitimate point guard in here that
can run this offense. It seems like whoever takes the
does throws the inbound pass, they just throw it to
anybody and and and everybody brings the ball down. There's
not a legitimate point guard that comes down and we'll
do this, sets the office, the offense and everything. It
(38:13):
seems like in the first three quarters this team is
is blowing and going and jumping. But when it gets
down to crunch time, when you actually have to start
running set plays to number one, take time off the clock,
get guys in the right position, it just seems like
this is that's where we lose the continuity of the
of the game, and a lot of times that's where
(38:35):
we It seems to me like that's where we're losing
the game. We just don't have a point guard that
can run this team. And I'll hang up and listen, guys.
Speaker 5 (38:43):
Steve, it's gonna be interesting what the Rockets do with
this draft, because it looks like they will. They could
have a top ten pick because they own Phoenix Suns draft.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
I would think, and I understand what Steve's saying. We
all have an opinion on what we think needs done.
That's part of talk radio, part of opinion, part of everybody.
We all have one. That's a good thing. When when
it comes down to that, I think, don't we know,
first off, you got to if he's not in house,
still have to go find one. If if they don't
believe that Van Vliet's a long term answer, and he's
(39:14):
not a long term ten years from now answer, but
a veteran leader. Right. My only thing about that is,
don't we think that the head coach knows this?
Speaker 6 (39:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (39:23):
Yeah, they got to talk about it bounds and getting
the ball to the right people. So Steve, I agree.
I think that you know a dominant point guard on
ballpoint guard who can also knock down shots on a
regular basis but also facilitate. I get it. Van Vliet's
a winner that I do know, but I understand you're
looking for a more explosive point guard to the Astros point.
I honestly we're gonna get this a lot. I don't
(39:46):
care about his height. I really don't now if it's perfect.
Could I'm not. I'm just not putting Dezenzo, who I love,
or cam Smith in the outfield to play there because
they're tall. Now, they may end up being better, it
may not be natural, and it's not gonna look natural
for Altuova. It's just not. And even if it does,
you know what, we're gonna resist it looking natural because
we're used to seeing him at second base. That's human nature.
It's like when he got a drop back quarterback and
(40:07):
all of a sudden Tom Brady at the end of
his crew became a better scratch. You know what I'm saying.
He gave more yards like in the last two years
that he gave his whole career. And he's not a runner,
but he bought enough time to buy some time when
he did it. Do you say that's an unnatural looking dude?
But man, I can't believe he just game eight yards.
Took him seven seconds, but he did it. But it's
same thing here. It's gonna look different, and Steve, I
don't think we're gonna have Now there's gonna be that
(40:29):
line drive of the gap where a six' five guy
or six y four guy could jump up and glove
it and above his head and get. It but an
alto v may. Miss but there's also going to be
balls that are hit short and shallowed that the big
fellows wouldn't get to that altove Would you're got to.
Sacrifice i'm not worried about a ball that goes six
inches over the fence with a guy chance to catch.
It how many robbed home runs are gonna happen a
(40:49):
year and When Ken Griffy junior was doing it three
if you're. Fortunate so that's not my. Worry AND i, Understand.
STEVE i think that the optics of the entire outfield
make it hard for, us because why it doesn't look
natural for any of them other Than Jake myers in.
Center the natural part of. It so they're going to
play al. Two v's starting in left, field AND, I,
STEVE i get. It and it's not a. Position you, say,
(41:11):
well he's going to be the permanent there for the
rest of his. CAREER i don't, know, maybe BUT i
would think that they feel that this is the best
counting bats and get people in the lineup and being
able to utilize. That they got like three second basement,
right they can play, There dubon And altuve and who
else AM i leaving?
Speaker 6 (41:25):
Out Oh?
Speaker 1 (41:26):
Rogers, Right so all three of. Them and he's a Gold,
Glover SO i get. It but the height isn't going
to be the Reason i'm making that. DECISION i know
he's going to produce in the. Outfield now, listen if
ALL i mean as a, hitter if they struggle with
him out, there that's not going to be the reason
they don't win the, DIVISION i don't. Think but if
they struggle with him, defensively then you're going to make the.
(41:46):
Move there's no doubt In steve's one hundred percent right about.
That but his height doesn't concern. Me the optics you
look at and, say, gosh it. Should but as we sit,
Today i'm not concerned about balls clearing his glove going
over the.
Speaker 6 (41:56):
Fence you, know excuse.
Speaker 5 (41:57):
Me as we get into the seven o'clock, hour we
can continue discuss these. Ashes but one thing that al
two needs to work on it AND i already know
he's doing, it just as. Jumps the hardest ball to
judge as an outfielder is the one hit right at.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
You those are the ones you're't talking. About is jump
to get the. Glove you're talking about to jump on the.
Baseball i'm talking about the jump on the. Base it's
a different perspective from second base to the home plate
than it is the line drive. Act you in left,
field you know that you teach it every day and
haven't been a guy who played center field in high? School,
yeah and covering that Ball i'd rather the one gapper
WHERE i got to retreat and get to the. Wall
(42:30):
you're going to get to the one WHERE i can
leave my, feet the one at you because it freezes you.
Speaker 6 (42:34):
For a, second it. Does that's the hardest. One be the.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
Sinking, line or it can be the one that the
rising and it rolls all the way to the. Wall
but the thing about it is that's going to happen to,
everybody all of them all. Right BUT i Get steve's.
Point but the OPTICS i think are going to be
far far more suffering than the actual.
Speaker 6 (42:51):
Result that's my. OPINION i think we'll.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
Be able to look at the metrics halfway through the
seat and, say, man his hype became a, problem but
he missed four line drives in three. Weeks it just
cleared his. Glove, well then go get a bigger, glove
you know You, yeah, Right But steve makes a point
and the point guard. Stuff so It's i'm NOT i
think the left field because of his Bat i'm not
worried about. It i'm worried about the the the whole
(43:15):
arm thing in the.
Speaker 6 (43:16):
Outfield, yeah that's that's a.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
Problem whole arm thing is gonna be a bigger problem
than al twove and left. Alone you ready to pay these, bills,
dude get us to break BEFORE i BEFORE i just
can't go to the other.
Speaker 5 (43:27):
Side let's get to the seven o'clock hour right now

Speaker 14 (44:37):
Ass here's what we're talking. About bob gusson the other.
Day here's a QUOTE i found for. Him he, SAID
i hated all The All star. GAMES i hated having
to talk to guys THAT i spent the rest of
the season trying to kick their. Ass they were the
enemy to. Me and Then i've found another quote about
hey ahead telling uh some rookies and the major is
(45:01):
how to.
Speaker 8 (45:03):
Approach Bob.
Speaker 14 (45:03):
Gibson he, said don't.
Speaker 8 (45:05):
Look at, him don't look at, him don't dig, in
do none of, that because they'll knock you.
Speaker 14 (45:11):
DOWN i missed those. Days oh, Yeah and you, Know
sehan thinking about that, attitude and then thinking about the
attitude That Bruce matthews shared about every, practice every, preseason regular.
Game he played as if if he didn't play, well
(45:32):
he could lose his. JOB i missed that in professional,
sports that kind of, attitude and not many people have
that kind of.
Speaker 1 (45:39):
Attitude they make more than The they all make more
than the coach that cut they can cut. Him that's. Why, yeah,
yeah the player empowerments at an all time. High everybody else,
goes the player goes. Last yeah.
Speaker 14 (45:52):
Yeah the golden days of professional sports are long and
go real.
Speaker 18 (45:58):
Quick if the astro had to start.
Speaker 14 (46:00):
Today, yeah this is my lineup two bay and, Left
Cam smith and right field out Res H, walker first,
BASE Ds pets And parata third, Base penius Shortstop dubon center.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
FIELD i like. THAT i, mean you know, what you
don't have to tell me that one. Twice i'm all
in without TWO A dubon and And Cam. SMITH i
got no issue. There and Then Jake myers And chas
mccormacker are your. Fillings, yeah now Unless chads McCormick can
prove that he's going to get back to hitting the
(46:44):
ball to right center field and pushing the ball the
other way and regained two years. AGO i put it this.
WAY i say this this WAY i always, say and
you'll let you also, Finish, andy whether it's football or.
Anything when people talk to me about quarterback or receives
he ready to, plays, okay so well let me ask
you this also take the? Quarterback is the? Quarterback, hey
turn your put your mute on for a. Second, There,
(47:05):
andy you, got we can hear all that. Noise thank.
You there you, go just mute until it's time for
you to. Talk there you. Go is that when they, say,
well why would you play the? Rookie and IF i, said,
well is the is the veteran playing like a, rookie
play the. Rookie if the rookie's doing the same, thing
making the same mistakes and also doing the same thing
(47:27):
that veterans, do guess, What guess? What play the rookie
play the same thing? Here if let's just say Cam
smith beats him.
Speaker 6 (47:37):
Out, yeah, yes who you? Play you play Camp?
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Smith? Right that's spring. Tainting is not just there for
everybody's uh fun and. Games spring trains there to get
better and. Compete didn't we hear that they were going to.
Compete people were gonna give guys a. Chance some guys
are just built. DIFFERENT i know the routine is go SINGLE,
a DOUBLE, a TRIPLE a and let's go. Play, Right
sometimes that DOUBLE a guy is just. Better is this?
(47:59):
Better he's just? Different and if you're built, different let
me build you on the major league. Roster AND i
don't know it is, early but the point, is if
you're just talking about on paper the thought process for, Optics,
andy AND i Know, andy, well we appreciate your insight, too.
BROTHER i love that. Lineup that lineup is better than
the one that they're proposed going. WITH i don't have
a problem with the hitting. Order Cam smith in the two,
(48:19):
hole that kind of pop you can actually you could
probably Flip Cam smith And jordan as, well And Christian
walker sitting in the four hole gives Me i'm good, there,
yeah and on Yin ear in the five, hole So
i'm WITH i Think andy's lineup is Pretty we're not
going to get.
Speaker 6 (48:35):
That, lineup, yeah but that's that's.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
Listen i'd rather grow and learn with somebody who's GONNA
i think some day's got superstar written all over, him
then hoping that it works out the other.
Speaker 8 (48:47):
Way.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
Now and you know, what we both Like chaz give
me chas from two years, ago AND i got a
solid player in the. Outfield and we've said, that BUT
i Think Cam smith's gonna make it miserable to keep
him out of the, lineup so we off the big
league club for that.
Speaker 5 (49:00):
Matter we always talk about how we judge players and
what we judged judged judged them. On, Well Cam, smith
this is so far what we can judge him. On
he's hitting five seventy one a, triple two home, runs six,
RBIs four, walks one. Strikeout he's had seven at, bats
he's got an on base percentage of seven hundred and
(49:22):
AN ops of two thousand and four to. Fourteen twenty
four to fourteen is HIS. Ops, again it's just spring,
training but we're judging base. Exactly all he's got all
we're judging on and so far in these what seven
or eight at, bats he has looked really. Good so
if he's got seven at, bats he's got four, walks
(49:43):
that's eleven plate, appearances maybe twelve plate.
Speaker 6 (49:45):
Appearances he's only struck out, once and he showed the.
Speaker 5 (49:49):
Power he missed A Grand slam yesterday by like literally a,
foot and he cleared the.
Speaker 6 (49:54):
Bases why are we afraid to let him play through?
Speaker 1 (49:56):
This?
Speaker 5 (49:57):
WHY i know that you AND i would PLAY I i,
WOULD i, would, man it would be REALLY i need
a wow factor, movement it. Would it would be really
hard for me to keep him off the opening day.
ROSTER i know he's not going to be because that
whole clock. Thing they don't want to start the service
time all, that, right that's a that's a. Problem that
is a, problem and quite, frankly it's unfair to the.
PLAYER i THINK i, agree it's gonna be really hard
(50:19):
for him to make this opening day, roster BUT i
don't think he'll be far, off. Dude and they say
he's gonna start in DOUBLE. A he's already been assigned
A DOUBLE. A like when when they got he goes
in there and rakes for three. Weeks move, him.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
DUDE i wouldn't even start him int DOUBLE. A i'd
start him straight up in TRIPLE. A i always, Say
adam to, that let me, feel let me feel against
the good guys.
Speaker 5 (50:36):
First, yeah, man well they they THEY i don't know
if you saw. Yesterday they already Reassigned Jacob. Melton he's
back in TRIPLE. A he's not making the open day.
Roster but Camp smith hasn't been reassigned, yet so obviously
they like seeing what he's doing so. Far early in spring,
training we're about what halfway, through no.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
More it'll be the like this time next week will
be halfway. Through they're going to give him as many
bass as possible in spring. Training AND i, AGAIN i
don't think he starts up at the big. LUE i
would love to see, it Because i'm like, you why?
Not but then you got to think about the the
admin side of, things if you, will the, clock the service,
time all of that making the forty, man then having
(51:16):
to move somebody off of, it so forth and so.
On he's going to start IN i don't see how
he starts in DOUBLE. A i really. Don't, WELL i,
know when did it ever have? That you're one of
my best twenty? S, yeah here you.
Speaker 6 (51:26):
Go, yeah here's your. Spot.
Speaker 1 (51:27):
RIGHT i just. DON'T i don't, Understand but could you?
Speaker 8 (51:30):
MEAN i?
Speaker 1 (51:31):
Understand but it bugs, ME i.
Speaker 5 (51:32):
Guess but imagine this a scenario where The Houston astros
Traded Kyle, tucker a full a for real five tool,
player which is very rare in today's. Game they traded
him because they weren't gonna be able for, him and
they Got Cam, smith who blossoms into like A jordon type.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
Hitter, well he's got more raw, power not That i'm talking, about,
right And Tuck tucker he does just pure raw. Power,
yeah imagine, That WELL i, have AND i can't wait
to see. It it's gonna be hard for him to
make the field of. Day see for, ME i think
the pressures on the guys that are veterans, here not
on the young.
Speaker 15 (52:04):
Guy.
Speaker 1 (52:05):
YEAH i think he's just going out and raking and
do what he does playing. Baseball those guys got to
be feeling man. LIVE I i guys stubbed my toe two.
Times that dude's playing starting in left to right or
he won't be left move out two bay back to,
second starting to right field, right and we don't have a. Try,
frankly we don't have a legitimate right fielder right. Now,
no because in, Truth chas McCormick's a left and a left. Fielder,
yeah And kaspatch in. Centerfield we there're no right field
(52:28):
arm on those, three that's for.
Speaker 5 (52:30):
Sure depending on who plays second, base whether It's, Dubon Brendan,
rodgers if he does, well depending on those let's just
let's just talk about those. Two let's just say that they're.
Struggling June, july Early. August Camp smith is In TRIPLE
a and he's playing. WELL i wouldn't be surprised if
they bring him. Up he's playing third. Base Estock britus
(52:50):
is over at second.
Speaker 1 (52:50):
Base. Well it also wouldn't be bothered if he Kept
dubon as The if that happens and he's still Your
Swiss army and you had The zenzo and left field
and camp forget about. This give me That Corner oute
feels pretty. Good, yeah if you're looking at young studs
that and go To Baltimore Orioles route, right and then you're. In,
dude you're looking To, letter just get To rake and.
Speaker 5 (53:09):
And then if and, if if you were The Houston.
Astros you, KNOW i heard THE kbo is looking for,
outfielders So Jake myers might be.
Speaker 6 (53:14):
Available Really, yeah while you're down On jake.
Speaker 1 (53:18):
Because he he's a two twenty, HITTER i don't care
if you got your third, derogatory what is? It that's
exactly what you saw The wheels twenty.
Speaker 5 (53:31):
Hitter, yeah he, is uh you know it's So i'm, yeah,
Man i'm anyways ophel you.
Speaker 13 (53:37):
Man.
Speaker 5 (53:37):
Yeah, hey over the, weekend OBVIOUSLY i was, coaching right,
yea took some of my team over to Jbar M. Barbecue, yeah,
DUDE i know we talk about jbar And barbecue all the,
time obviously our partnership, here we love. Them BUT i
am just blown away with their, food their customer, service
and the place was slammed On saturday.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
The, listen there's only one reason Why i'm Glad Jbarm
barbecue isn't near my. House you have to roll me
out with potatoes out on my.
Speaker 6 (54:05):
Face, Okay, yeah what a great.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
Place and we've obviously we were over there together and
you Mentioned hoffe where he's just what they. Have his
customer service is the way it's supposed to be done
when you walk, in and he is such a good.
Dude but they, listen you can't have a good place
regardless of the, location which, matters regardless of a parking,
lot regardless of the proximity to the, ballpark and a
great place to. Go the food's got to be, spectacular
(54:29):
and it. Is and you, listen you, guys go there
and come. Back matter of, fact if you come back
and tell me that you didn't like their, Barbecue i'll
treat your next.
Speaker 19 (54:36):
Meal.
Speaker 1 (54:37):
Now one hundred and thousand of you don't go buy
barbecue and come back and say because that'd be a.
Lie got to be. Honest but that is how good it.
IS i encourage everybody to. Try and then it's your
your pre and. Post but it's a place you want
to go when nothing else is going, on like you
didn't have to be a ball.
Speaker 6 (54:49):
Game, yeah love that. Place Jabar am is the.
Speaker 5 (54:51):

saturday as. WELL i believe he's.

Speaker 1 (55:00):
Yep, Right oh, yeah isn't that a reason why guy
still knows how to? Work? Unfortunately, yeah he can outwork
people seventy years younger than.
Speaker 6 (55:07):
Him, yeah Just God.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
Blair, fortunately SHOULD i Say god bless?
Speaker 2 (55:10):
Him?
Speaker 1 (55:10):
Man he's built a he's built a spectacular. Place UF
h was Playing.

fans in there getting them some barbecue and a couple

Speaker 1 (56:21):
The Sean Salisbury. Show it's time for the.
Speaker 5 (56:25):
Steakout here on The Sean Salisbury, Show Shoub brown And
Tripoli astros are off. Today rockets lost to the thunder last.
Night they played The pacers tonight six o'clock tip, off
five o'clock launch batter right here on seven ninety you're
home For rockets. BASKETBALL u OF h Beats kansas last
night On Senior. Night all, right here we, Go sean
(56:46):
for the. Steakout excuse, me combine just coming to a
close over the. Weekend one of the top, Prospects Travis. Hunter,
obviously he plays both sides of the. Football he was
asked what's more difficult him playing both? Sides of the
football or Sho Hao tani hitting and pitching In Major League.
Speaker 6 (57:09):
Baseball Here's Travis hunter's.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
Response more.
Speaker 22 (57:12):
Difficult probably mean WHAT i do in football because it's
a lot on your. Body you Know, tunny he's a great,
player but you gotta do a lot of your.
Speaker 5 (57:23):
Football Travis hunter thinks playing both sides of the football
is more difficult than What shoeotani has to do.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
Equally and Pro now Show Shoeo tani won two games
as a pitcher and lost eighteen and then hit like
one seventy. Five maybe he has an. Argument the skill
set on defensive back and wide receiver is fairly. Similar
if you know, one you're probably pretty good at the.
Other if you can catch because you read routes as
a defensive back and you know how to you do,
that and as a wide receiver you know how DB's.
(57:51):
Work so it's an advantage for him on the mental. Side,
listen both Are they don't have to be mutually. Exclusive
both are pretty damn impressive to do. It they. Did
and the question for on the side of sustaining just
the pure durability and the toughness it. Takes there's no
doubt it's more demanding to do With Travis hunter is
(58:13):
doing to play both sides of. Ball one hundred and
twenty plays a. Game that's tough to. Do but as
far as what's harder to, do it's. Not it's.
Speaker 5 (58:20):
Not it's not. Close there's a you, know it's you played.
It you played all three. Sports you played, baseball and
you played professional. Football it was recruited in all. Three,
yeah you know this.
Speaker 1 (58:30):
LIST i think the hardest, job day by day to
be great at is playing. QUARTERBACK i do because of
all twenty you got. IT i think it's the. HARDEST
i didn't say It's throwing a football is not harder
than hitting a, baseball throwing it accurately and all that.
STUFF i think it's the toughest single job of All
with all that you got it as a, quarterback to
be good at. It, yeah the single toughest thing to,
DO i think is to hit a baseball at a
(58:52):
hundred and then have to hit an eighty two mile
an hour hook but the other, side and then to
be good at it and then decide on a day
off that you're not a day, off you're going to
go throw seven and a third and throw it one
hundred and be a cy young. Guy in, Both Travis
hunter is. Spectacular What Shoe Hao tony does is more. Impressive,
yeah and quite, frankly there's a big gap between the.
Speaker 5 (59:12):
TWO i, mean you look at What Shoe Hao tony
does pitching and being one of the best hitters in.
Baseball he's doing both against the most elite of the.
World like doing it both if very very and he
does it very very, well.
Speaker 1 (59:28):
Not just very, well better than anybody we've ever seen
do it to in, both he just. Does and THAT'S i,
Mean i'm talking About Babe ruth may have an, Argument
i'm talking about the modern. Era there's, there's, there's and
there are different types. Athletes Bab bruth thinks steel on fifty.
Bases we didn't even add that to. It, Listen Travis
hunter's the physical demands in a football. Game if he's doing,
that if he plays one hundred and twenty five hundred
(59:49):
and thirty steps in THE, nfl at the end of that,
season he comes to me And vanie'll have. It the
argument may get a little, closer but as far as
tough to, do if you say not only do, it
but do it, well It's. Otani, yeah and quite, frankly
let's just not stop. There it may be just tougher
to hit a baseball than to do both of. Those
i'm talking about hit a. Baseball you're hitting three sixty
(01:00:10):
and to be a five tool guy maybe. Tougher there
the physical demands on a wide receiver and defensive back
or far more than four bats and we know. That,
yeah but to do, both, NO i lean towards a baseball.
Speaker 6 (01:00:22):
Guy.
Speaker 5 (01:00:22):
Yeah, yeah here's a Chado Joe cinco waiting On Travis hunter.
Saying what he said is what O Jo cinko had
to talk about the.
Speaker 23 (01:00:31):
Most the two most difficult things in life are hitting
the baseball and keeping a woman happy long. Term the
two multiple things a, LIGHT yei me very.
Speaker 6 (01:00:41):
So the fact that truly run that one more.
Speaker 23 (01:00:44):
Time more difficult things in life are hitting the baseball
and keeping a woman happy long, Term the two multiple
things a, LIGHT yei me very.
Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
So the fact is he, lion he's not. Lyon there's
no controversy, there and there's no disrespect to. WOMEN i
think that's a compliment to, women keeping them at because
they have, expectations right they, Should so he's, right AND
i don't know if he, managed if he's talking about
in the, sheets out of the, sheets, overall a talking
about the whole. Thing, yeah and that's, okay you, know
(01:01:17):
you put some respect on. Him but, uh between that
and hitting the baseball, chattel so that maybe this is
one point of things we've heard ON. Tv it's spot.
On it's not, pretty it's a Pretty he hit the perfect.
Ten he went Bo derek on.
Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
Him, okay, yeah, dude, yeah, yeah he's, uh he's pretty spot.
On all, right let's get into some more discussion about
These houston.
Speaker 6 (01:01:38):
ASTROS i can't Believe.
Speaker 5 (01:01:41):
I'm about to ask this, question but, uh there are
some people out there that believe it is jose Al
tuova too short to play the. Outfield let's also get
back out to the phone lines at, seven, one, three,
two seven ninety right here On sportslock seven to.
Speaker 1 (01:01:53):

WEEK i don't want to talk about, it.
Speaker 17 (01:09:14):
Man The astros gotta be more than.
Speaker 7 (01:09:19):
Them, sure yesterday y'all were having a conversation about dog
and basketball, teams AND i don't remember the, conversation But
dan was, like, well he scored forty one and they.
Lost AND i was, like, exactly there's your dog had
forty one points and they.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
LOST i like This rockets team the way it.
Speaker 7 (01:09:39):
Is you may need a, dog but only a certain
dog is gonna fit on this team the way coach runs.
Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
It that dog is Named Kevin.
Speaker 7 (01:09:49):
Durant we have Everything phoenix has in the, draft SO
i say we traded, back bring in that, dog and
this team will be just.
Speaker 10 (01:09:57):
FINE a Question sean, Yep brian tripley how many games
over and? Under set a? Number how many over and?
Under before our two bays on the sideline with a twisted,
ankle hurt me bum knee and we'll go from there
for the rest of. Y'all keep your money in your
(01:10:18):
pocket and.
Speaker 1 (01:10:18):
Your head now. Peace Appreciate, Adrian, well, HECK i don't want.
TO i don't want to get out and think that
al two b is gonna get. HURT i think What
adrian's saying is he doesn't like him play in that. Position,
yeah basically, RIGHT i, mean because you will alto they
miss a game because of a sore hammy at some
(01:10:38):
point this year, Probably, Okay i'll set it at thirty,
five thirty four and a, half taking the over the
under where he misses a, game not unrest because he
got a maybe a, hammy twins or maybe his rib
cage a little sore or. Something thirty, five but it
won't be a big. One thirty five thirty five, games
thirty four and a half. Games you take the over
the under when he when he when his first comes
(01:10:59):
to come to a discomfort somewhere, over you're taking the. Over,
YEAH i think it'll be. FINE i would. Too, YEAH
i think he's gonna be. FINE i would.
Speaker 6 (01:11:07):
Too why why.
Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
Are We BECAUSE i think because there's. More there's more
up back, east you, know up up, down you know
in out left, RIGHT i mean you, Know i'm talking
about north south east. West when when he's got to
cover in, baseball the main, part unless you're going back
for a pop fly between you and the, outfield he's
just it's a lot of lateral, movement, right and you
got to charge the baseball and. Stuff it's. DIFFERENT i
(01:11:29):
get what people are saying, about is he got a
leg one out in the hand he's going to be left,
behind but he's a highly trained. ATHLETE i think he's
gonna be. Okay that's just my. Opinion BUT i get people's.
CONCERN i, do AND i validate, it AND i. DO
i recognize it and, Validated BUT i think we're focused
on the wrong. Thing i'll tell you what the deeper
focus is is that you had to move him. There
(01:11:49):
that's the. Problem is not that It's, altove Because altuve
is going to be.
Speaker 6 (01:11:53):
Fine.
Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
Now is he gonna win The Gold glove left? Field probably,
not but he's going to be. Fine is serviceable as fare, Was,
Yes but it's the fact that they have to put
him out there and moved him out there for whether
it's off season movement they didn't get enough of or
it shows me the lack of they're they're they're concerned about.
Outfielder you wouldn't move Your hall Of fame second basement
to left. Field so there is an, Issue BUT i
don't think it's The altuovay. ISSUE i think it's the outfield.
(01:12:16):
Issue and what's, what what's what's not happened? Yet so
that that to, Me so will he miss a, game
but he's missed game on the Strained hammers playing second.
BASE i just think the optics of it because it's not.
Natural bother people AND i. DO i validate their, concerns
BUT i don't think the reason this, team if they
don't get where they're going this, Year, brian is going
to be because lack of left field. Production, YEAH i
(01:12:38):
don't think. WHAT i don't.
Speaker 5 (01:12:39):
Believe, NO i don't think it's going to be because of.
That seven, one, three two two, five seven ninety is
the number to. Join we will continue to discuss discuss
The Houston astros next On Sports talk seven.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
Ninety this is The Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Show, Salesful.
Speaker 6 (01:12:57):
Get out to the phone. Lines, casey good, Morning good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:13:01):
Guys how are you all?
Speaker 8 (01:13:03):
Good?
Speaker 6 (01:13:03):
Buddy what's on your?
Speaker 15 (01:13:04):
Mind first of, All brandon's a, strong independent. Man he
don't need no. Man maintenance actually calls him when they need.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Things it's kind of like The Chuck norris is what you're. Saying, Basically,
yeah he's The Chuck norris Of. Houston that's exactly Whe
he's A Chuck norris Of Sports talk seven ninety. Two
that's for damn.
Speaker 15 (01:13:21):
Sure so a couple of Things i'm going to talk
about What Travis hunter.
Speaker 8 (01:13:27):
SAID i think he needs to go watch some clips.
Speaker 15 (01:13:30):
Of these other athletes throwing out first pitches and they
can't even get a ball to home plate from sixty.
Feet see how easy it is to play.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Baseball it's not.
Speaker 6 (01:13:42):
Easy it's extremely.
Speaker 15 (01:13:43):
Difficult and then it's kind of my. Observation you see
in high school and stuff that most baseball players play
multiple sports and they're pretty good at, them where you
have single sport athletes that can't really play other. Sports
so he was like baseball players a little more. Athletic
that's not always the.
Speaker 4 (01:14:03):
Case BUT.
Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
I would say that baseball, players for the most part
of the least athletic of the three major. Sports overall,
ATHLETES i would not all of. Them this is not
a blanket statement their skills in their particular and in
their particular. SPORT i think baseball is brutally, tough throwing,
strikes hitting the, baseball all that brutally, tough so much.
Respect but when it comes to pure, athletes, no they
(01:14:29):
finish in third in A superstars, competition and hockey may
even get some of the football and basketball basketball probably
in a smaller term because of. That but if you
just talk about A superstars, Competition baseball is going to
finish in third over those TWO ba football and basketball
are going to blow those guys.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
Away, yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:14:49):
Sir the other THING i was gonna say is without Two,
BAY i think people are being a little too critical on.
HIM i mean he's only been playing that position for
like two, weeks so a little different. Animal he's got
to learn routes WHERE i mean the, Harm, yeah that's
going to be kind of an, issue BUT i, mean what,
(01:15:10):
Time he'll still.
Speaker 8 (01:15:11):
Get the hang of.
Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
It appreciate, You, Casey thank, You. Casey the way you
can help that arm is getting a jump on the.
Ball and it's like a. Linebacker it's not real, fast,
right it's just anticipation and studying, keys so you know
how to get, there and you know if it's AN
o two pitch and you're throwing, it or it's a
pitch and you're throwing a fastball or a. CHANGE i,
mean obviously left, fielder he'll want to know the, signs
so he had to get a jump on the. Ball
(01:15:33):
but it's it's no different than somebody who may be
a little slower on a football team that just has
to anticipate a little bit better and maybe you, know
study the tendencies a little bit. More that's, okay that's.
Fine but Everything casey said was spot. On but baseball
athletes are not going to finish in the first or
they're not they're not going by basketball Or i'm talking
(01:15:53):
about it in an overall, competition skilled on what their
hand eye. Is and there's some Great i'm sure shoe
Heel tony can do a bunch of Stuff i'm talking about,
OVERALL i can tell you and they you put all
the talking about from, lifting, running, throwing different, sports this
guy going to that guy, sport that guy going to
this guy. Sport i'm gonna, Say i'm gonna say that
over my career that baseball would finish in third on
(01:16:16):
just A superstars. Competition i'm don't agree with you on that. One,
no you're.
Speaker 5 (01:16:21):
Not baseball players can compete in any any. Sport well
compete is HOW i. Approach football players can't. Compete have
you football players try to swing?
Speaker 1 (01:16:32):
Baseball but, guy have you seen have you seen baseball
players try To have you seen baseball players at times
try to catch a football? Catch have you seen him
watch a football? See, No i'm just saying. Block, No
i'm not Saying i'd actually put basketball overall athleticism ahead football.
Speaker 6 (01:16:46):
Athleticism, yeah that's.
Speaker 1 (01:16:47):
WHY I, yeah you, Know i'm not talking about a specific.
SKILL i talk about. Overall in A superstars, COMPETITION i
take the twelve best in, football twelve best in, basketball
twelve best in. BASEBALL i think that baseball is going
To baseball ain't winning. That have you seen a basketball
player try to? Hit but if we take them out of?
THERE i, mean but if we if we mix, it
or like a True superstars, competition you put your best,
(01:17:09):
Athlete Like i'd take a guy who's played both and
stick him in the baseball. Competition if it was a hitting,
competent take like if you took your top, three just like,
baseball you'd take Your, Okay and the difference is, now
think about a right, Fielder, well they may have a
great arm and. Baseball the grip of a football may
be a little different for.
Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
Them.
Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
Right so it's not saying they're not great. Athletes BUT
i put it this. Way you had you had a million,
BUCKS i ain't betting it on The the athletes in
baseball are better than the athletes in, basketball there's no
friggin WAY.
Speaker 6 (01:17:35):
I would AND i played both and played the out.
Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
There there's no way you Seen Draymond green try to swing
a back wouldn't make our top. TWELVE i know. That
i'm just. Picking there's a video of him, swinging but
that's the only way we get a chance to see
because they take batting. Practice we don't See Alex bregman
going out and trying to run a. Route, okay exactly my.
Point he's as.
Speaker 16 (01:17:56):
Bad it wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
Be he's as bad a. Runner he wouldn't be A
matt competent. Tition he's as horrible a runner As draymond.
Is swinging your baseball. Square the goal of the coaches
to keep those guys out of those their. Weaknesses, listen,
dude you take you take a great baseball. Player you
know that that that's like A he was the. First
(01:18:19):
he was the first guy came to my came to.
MIND i swear swear to. You he was the first
GUY i thought, of was, like who would be able
to probably give him a golf, club give him a
week's work of worth of. Work he probably really. Good
best he's he's that Guy jordan was that you could
give anything, eventually can do it? All now? Can he
doesn't mean they're gonna be able to go hit major
league pitching or vice, versa or That Alex bregman can
play slot and run around you get the? Hell you,
Know i'm just talking about just the overall you know
(01:18:43):
from playing above the. Room you're, Right, oh it's it's
disheartening to time see an athlete from another sport come
and try to throw a.
Speaker 6 (01:18:50):
Football i'm embarrassed for.
Speaker 1 (01:18:52):
Him and it's disheartening watching a non baseball guy that's,
trum the best basketball player on the. Planet he throws
it like right right arm and throws it. Ahead and
were you when you were? Eight you didn't just pick
the baseball catch big, buddies not even if you didn't play,
baseball just pick up and throw. It watch, Somebody OH i,
CAN i? CAN i can make that arm. Action I've
(01:19:12):
i've never understood. It i've never understood. It you just. Can't,
Okay i'm not gonna bowl a two, fifty but after
a few throws down the, lane get an idea WHERE
i can bowl a one. Ninety, yeah you know What i'm,
saying not, Saying that's my point is is that just
the overall who can do what? Better none of them
unless you played baseball at a high level or through high,
school want to deal with. THAT i, mean when their
(01:19:34):
hands are like, three it's just. Separated we're not we're not,
chopping you're chopping in wood or swinging an. Axe, Right
save that for those, games the outdoor game. Together, YES
i just but, uh there's great athletes in all of.
Them but basketball's athletes are pretty freak showish as long
as you don't make them specifically have to throw a
football or hit a. Baseball just the overall, athleticism, right
(01:19:58):
and you can give Me bow and D On. Wright oh,
yeah but they're. Different, yeah let's just stop. There it is.
Speaker 5 (01:20:03):

Speaker 1 (01:22:43):
Had aspirations to be a sports.
Speaker 13 (01:22:45):
Writer SO i ENTERED ah did stuff for our school.
Speaker 1 (01:22:48):
Paper BUT i entered a.
Speaker 13 (01:22:50):
Contest and was selected to go to The Arlington ballpark
and interview a couple members of the.
Speaker 1 (01:22:56):
Team so while the.
Speaker 13 (01:22:58):
Members was a guy Named Kevin, minch who Was he
was just a funny. Dude but the other player Was Gabe.
Kepler so, YEAH i, mean, ah he looked. Good he looked,
Good SO i MEAN i loved him ever. Since HE i,
(01:23:20):
mean he was very. Genuine it seemed like he was
very much like talked about his family too and how
he balances the family. Life he just.
Speaker 1 (01:23:29):
Wasn't just really good. Guy gave us a.
Speaker 13 (01:23:32):
Lot of time and. Everything So i've loved him ever.
Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
Since it kind of followed him And minch was a ranger,
too right, handed power, hitter a little. Power, yeah they
called Him shrek for a. While that was one of his.
Speaker 6 (01:23:43):
Nicknames so.
Speaker 1 (01:23:48):

Speaker 11 (01:23:52):
IS.
Speaker 13 (01:23:53):
I. Imagine so, yeah but why to get out on the
l two bay issue as? WELL i mean this has
Been i've been hearing this daily Almost and when y'all, said,
well we're going to open the phone lines To, altwove
some people think he's too. SHORT i, Mean i've never
really considered changing the channel when y'all were talking, baseball
(01:24:15):
AND i almost did.
Speaker 1 (01:24:17):
THEN i, mean it's just getting.
Speaker 13 (01:24:18):
Ridiculous how many times Does altuve have to exceed expectations
for us to realize that his height does not matter
in what he's capable of.
Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
Doing and then, again it's not that important for an.
Speaker 13 (01:24:32):
Outfielder you Got Mookie betts is LIKE i think five to,
Nine Assy albi's is five to. Eight you got each.
Row wasn't told you got a lot of shorter outfielders out.
There the other day he made a, Catch altva made
a catch against the.
Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
Wall he made a bad throw.
Speaker 13 (01:24:46):
HOME i have A i can't see how the bad
throw home had anything to do with his.
Speaker 1 (01:24:50):
HEIGHT i don't love the idea of.
Speaker 13 (01:24:53):
Him being in left, field BUT i don't love it
because of the situation we're in where we felt like
that move was. NEEDED i have NO i have all
the confidence in his ability to play left field and
do it just about as good as any of the
other guys we have that are playing right. Now so
we don't have all star outfielders on our.
Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
Team so it's that.
Speaker 13 (01:25:16):
The shorter, outfields especially with THE i was about to
say minute, made But dyke In, park you know you
don't have to have the arm strength as much and
left SO i don't think that will be too much
of an. Issue none of our guys are going to
be making a lot of assist as. Is he's going
to do the. Job he's going to do it. Well
(01:25:37):
and as far as, INJURIES i don't think he's going
to be any more injured than he would be playing second.
Base usually he has a stint or two on the,
il not very long during the, season and that doesn't
have anything to do with his. Height that's more to
do with his you, know he's getting up there in,
age so he's going to be prone to some of
(01:25:57):
those injuries and strains where he just needs a day or.
Two but, anyways that's my two cents on.
Speaker 6 (01:26:04):
It, awesome thank you the great.
Speaker 1 (01:26:06):
Stuff appreciate it to see you And Cappitler, man, yeah
you And Gabriel. Capitler it's my.
Speaker 6 (01:26:11):
Guy, man he's your, dog that is, man great.
Speaker 1 (01:26:14):
Stuff By she ain't about the height and, yeah it
doesn't matter how, Tall yes he. Is i'm Just i'm
over that whole, thing. Man and with they're on that
start the. Biscuit what's going? On?
Speaker 8 (01:26:23):
Biscuit hey, man she in a spot, on. Man she
she ran her up point at the point, man it's, like, wow,
yeah my whole thing though the limit and with just
my take on the two, light correct me If i'm.
WRONG i don't never hard remember how two being the
cutoff man throwing the ball to the.
Speaker 1 (01:26:42):
Plate he wasn't not long.
Speaker 8 (01:26:44):
Being, no that's my whole. Thing i'm, like this dude was,
okay he had issues thrown from second to. First, okay
now you want me to you, KNOW i. DON'T i.
Don't that's my whole. Thing and, Man i'm telling, you
If i'm the third base coaching, ball get that. Outfit,
man we run, It we run.
Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
All that's my biggest, concern not that you won't feel
the ground. Ball it's the accuracy in the arm strength
of throwing people. Out they're gonna get run on as
much as any team in the league this. Year they just.
Speaker 6 (01:27:08):
Will, yeah until until they prove. Otherwise.
Speaker 8 (01:27:12):
Yeah Believe i've got a question because you guys brought
up SOMETHING i feel it's kind of interested and compel
eachna and And i've never asked you this AT, leama
but as far as the makeup of your baseball, team
you coaching or, whatever do you have Any African americans
on your?
Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
TEAM i have three on my. Team three, YEAH i got,
yeah oh, yeah no.
Speaker 5 (01:27:33):
Doubt all of my teams That i've, Coached i've had
two or Three i've had uh, Uh i've got eleven
on my roster right. Now i've got Three African, americans,
yeah And i've got a couple Of hispanic.
Speaker 1 (01:27:46):
Kids.
Speaker 5 (01:27:47):
Uh two mixed, kids, yes and then the rest are are.
White so all of my teams have been pretty diverse
for the most.
Speaker 8 (01:27:53):
Part and when you play in, competition do you see
the other teams being that way or you kind of out.
Speaker 5 (01:27:59):
Yeah, no, no, no, no it's here In, houston, Man
like some of the best teams are are. Mixed we
don't there's no now of. Course like we played a
team From austin On saturday or On sunday and it
was nothing but white. Kids like they're from a really
rich area of which doesn't, matter but a really rich
area Of. Austin they were all white, kids you, know
and it's. Fine but, yeah for the most, part they're all.
Speaker 1 (01:28:19):
Mixed.
Speaker 5 (01:28:19):
Man there's not put it to you this, Way biscuit
white kids don't dominate the sport of baseball in this.
Speaker 8 (01:28:25):
City, No AND i my son came up through the
like you. Say but the THING i was getting through, Though,
sean is it's kids that don't play all the sports
like we used, to and it's discouraged for a lot of.
TIMES i mean not when my son was. Coming it,
was you, know if you played, football the basketball coach
didn't want you to play, basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
Which to me is the dumbest and most most absurd
thing on the. Planet it just. Is i've never understood,
it AND i think those coaches to to, me a
coach that forces them to be singular and play one
sport if that's all they want to, play, Fine but
if they want to play more sports and he's discours
shame on him or her whoever that coach. Is there's
no doubt it's, wrong and.
Speaker 8 (01:29:05):
They do it all.
Speaker 10 (01:29:06):
Day.
Speaker 8 (01:29:06):
Sean the thing when my son would lean up with
baseball was was the. Fallball and, so you, know cause
a lot of kids just play year around baseball, now
and so when he went to football and, basketball they
were still playing. Baseball and so when we came back to,
baseball we had to kind of play catch up a little, bit,
Right and you, know he had me and we had
(01:29:27):
the resources and not take them to the batty cages
and just and that we can catch, up but some
of the kids, can't you know WHAT i. Mean and
it's a lot more money in baseball. Too and then
also you can't play pick up, baseball you know WHAT i,
Mean if you, know you need at least six people to,
play and none of his boys. Played so that was
the issue with my. Son you, know nobody around played.
Baseball he's the only want to have a bat and a.
(01:29:49):
Glove and you, know you can't play pick up. Baseball
you don't only one with the, glove you. Know and
so that was the, resources you, know because these bad
man it could be four hundred dollars for good, back
you know WHAT i. Mean so you just forty five
hours for a basketball and there you, go you. Play
(01:30:09):
and SO i think that's What i've seen the. Evolution
it was a drought, There. Sean you, know we we've
seen it from LIKE i, say mid nineties to maybe
early two thousand worth there weren't that Many African. Americas
but now it seemed like it's circling back. Around when
we were, younger and you, know we had a whole
bunch of guys brothers playing.
Speaker 4 (01:30:27):
Baseball no.
Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
Doubt so it's a good.
Speaker 8 (01:30:31):
THING i think for the you know, That AND i
THINK mlb did to put in some money into it
in some of the inner. Cities and and, so you,
know cause the funny thing a Little, lina when my
son played, football sean or, basketball he was the slowest.
Guy but if he played, baseball they're, like, man your
son is. Fast i'm, Like, noah not, really.
Speaker 1 (01:30:48):
Man but what you're, basically what you're basically saying is
a white boys can't. Run we, Don't, no, man he
slow really. Good but, okay, hey but milk the hell
out of. It hell, yeah it's his dion running against
you white. Boys that's exactly. Right great. Stuff BUT i Appreciated.
(01:31:09):
Biscuit good. Stuff we both appreciate. It so does the people.
Listen AND i will tell you. THIS i had a
great conversation in an interview With Andre dawson about that
What biscuit's talking, about and we sat down on the
biggest concern is that he talked about the. Expenses he,
goes you don't see inner city kids because of the
like you, said three hundred bucks for a baseball, bat you,
(01:31:30):
know back in the. Day AND i didn't come from.
MONEY i know you didn't. Either so we had the
glove and you just some hand me downs or whatever you,
do and you'd wear the same gloves seven years in a.
Row yeah, Right and that's not like it came from.
Where we weren't, eating you, Don't we just. COULDN'T i
got shoes from pay. LESS i wasn't Buying. Nike, okay
two pairs at that point in. Time, dude my dad
would go get his two pairs for fifteen bucks and
wouldn't get his work boots because we needed a pair
(01:31:51):
Of he used to call him a little all. Pros you,
know they'd rip after about a week and a, half
but you'd still wear, them. Right, so But Andre dawson
was talking about the. PRICE i can remember WHEN i
was growing, up the littlely you go buy and there'll
be fifteen kids on a field before there are summer
league baseball game that later that, day maybe on a
field just. Playing you, know we called An indian ball
at the, time but you know how that's just WHAT
i don't even know where That, yeah we played right
(01:32:13):
saying whatever it, is and nobody was sensitive over a, name,
right just do whatever you. Could but he was black
it Was, hispanic it was. White and and then it's
it's not just the inner City African americans just in
in income areas where they just didn't have the same
money to. Go pops couldn't spend three hundred bucks on a.
Bat you either barred your buddies if he was. Unselfish so,
(01:32:35):
Man i'll try to get you back or you. Win
And andrey d also was talking about we need more
of getting that generation back where great athletes aren't just
playing football and, basketball they're also playing. Baseball and you,
know we see some of the greatest players on a
planet In Major League baseball that are and have been
that they're. Black so it's. Good and see those numbers
(01:32:56):
that you're talking, about it's having three or Four African.
Americans it's good because what it does it also permeates
through the communities as. Well, right and then to put programs,
together which leads me to, This, brian if you don't, mind,
yeah go. Ahead is the attention my friends for you
The berties for. Life and the only reason it's kind
of ironic that we're talking about. This i'm involved in
a foundation that invites the the inaugural golf tournament And
(01:33:18):

Nine what we're doing is trying to empower kids after
school program so these kids have something to do and
go play golf and teach them with teaching and try
not to make given scholarships away and doing everything we
can to make them get. Involved because life and golf
are pretty, similar, right so we're going to do you,
know we put a company together and so grateful For
Robert wiseman and Impowering houston youth through the game of.
(01:33:40):
Golf whether you're a season golf or a new sport for,
you there's a place for. You register today and make good.

good AND i think we're making a pretty good. Difference
and it's going to be a fun clinic and they
get to play nine holes and have teaching there and
it'd be great for the, kids get them some gear and,
stuff and it's something we want to implement starting here
(01:34:00):
and all over the. Place So robert great stuff And
bertie's For. Life we could use your nations if you're.
Interested we'd love to have. You if you want to
sponsor a. Hole go to the bertisflife dot com or
hit me in my inbox And i'll get you the
information to uh take care of these kids that don't
have money and it's from all walks of. Life don't have,
money but sure would love to play. Golf, yeah so

Speaker 18 (01:35:13):
Hello, Hello i'm a big big astro stand been one

WITH l TWO b if The astros are protecting a,
lead they can put maybe a taller person would like
(01:35:34):
mccorick with better.
Speaker 19 (01:35:36):
Range.
Speaker 18 (01:35:37):
Uh you, KNOW i think the possibilities don't get a
closed bond ABOUT l. Two we needed that so you,
know in, defense he doesn't have to lead the. Game
he could go To but The astros management feels like
McCormack deserves a place to. Play maybe that's the.
Speaker 1 (01:36:01):
One so are you Concerned, john if that al twove
is too short to play left?
Speaker 18 (01:36:07):
Field it only happens occasionally. That, UH i think more

Speaker 1 (01:36:39):

Speaker 8 (01:36:39):
MAN i had a coach THAT i spoke. To he
turned ninety in at the beginning Of. December he turned
ninety AND i mean me and Coach williams are still
close to this. Day. MAN i mean he taught me
so much about the game when he really taught us
(01:37:00):
all about how to become me and the thing about
respect so maybe the one, day, man you'll be ninety
and one of your players of column and said buying
the old coach and they were when he had black,
hair AND i s all, great and so just keep
doing what you keep doing what you're. Doing you, Know

Speaker 1 (01:37:19):
Year you know what you.
Speaker 5 (01:37:20):
Want one cool thing THAT i have got to do
over the last YEAR i went TO i was invited
by a former player to his.
Speaker 6 (01:37:27):
Wedding got to do.
Speaker 5 (01:37:27):
That and then two of my former players invited me
to be in their wedding AND i have been in
one of.
Speaker 6 (01:37:33):
Them got another one coming. Up so that's been pretty.
Speaker 1 (01:37:35):
Cool early in my, UH i Mean i'm in my mid,
thirties so that's been pretty. Sweet, yeah oh that's.
Speaker 6 (01:37:41):
Sweet.
Speaker 8 (01:37:41):
Man, hey one last, DAYMENT i got my first glove
and back through internat green stamps about.
Speaker 1 (01:37:46):
That appreciate you know? What you know what those snah
green stamps. Are you accumulate a bunch of them and
you could use. It it's almost like coupons with their little. Stamps,
yeah put them all, together save them and save and
say them and then, uh you'd actually look for, him
put him together and you could actually get a glove
or or you, know sporting stuff or other stuff with
(01:38:08):
with those green, stamps.
Speaker 6 (01:38:09):
Like box tops for education.
Speaker 1 (01:38:11):
Kind of, yeah or like remember you used to have
you'd bring in so Many uh we used to it
all the, time. Bottles, yeah you take them in and
you get paid for. Him oh, yeah back.
Speaker 5 (01:38:23):
We would have recycling, contests rink, them save and bring
them in and so you could get the most money papers.
Speaker 6 (01:38:27):
Everything.
Speaker 1 (01:38:28):
Man, yeah but those those green stamps were some good gift, given.
Speaker 5 (01:38:32):
Didn't You uh didn't you save up a bunch of
those stamps to get yourself a new? Cup it was
like an extra small one back in the, day, Right,
YEAH i.
Speaker 1 (01:38:38):
Mean it was a the CUP i wore that you're
talking about the you saw that you you grabbed at
my house AND i see keeping a shrine was the
one that was a catcher's mitt that catches. Knuckleballers oh
so you got it from the the prop on the
set for that big Guy. Goldberg.
Speaker 6 (01:38:56):
Yeah do you know?
Speaker 13 (01:38:58):
WHAT i?
Speaker 1 (01:38:58):
Realized it was a tad? Small what's wrong with? You?
Man don't. Exactly let's talk To. Brandon what's going? On? Brandon?
Hey your warning?
Speaker 21 (01:39:13):
Guys, Hey, Brian, first of, All, MAN i commend you
for man coaching out there. Too, man the little league is.
Speaker 13 (01:39:17):
Fun.
Speaker 21 (01:39:17):
MAN i just had my daughter head opening weekend this,
weekend and it's just so much fun to be out
there DOING t ball and coach pitch and talking to
parents who love, it, man and just invest so much
in the. Game AND i think that's where that's where
it always. Starts, man it's coaching little. League SO i
commend you.
Speaker 6 (01:39:29):
For, That, Brian thank, You, brandon appreciate.
Speaker 21 (01:39:31):
That it's no you got it, Man, hey the all
two bate.
Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
Thing LIKE i, said, look you got to play.
Speaker 21 (01:39:35):
Somewhere and when it comes down to, it no matter the,
size you, know the, strength the, ability this guy is
going to be a Future hall Of famer when it
comes down To it'll have a statue out in front
of you, Know dyking one day. Too he's gonna learn
the position out, there you know WHEN i coached high
school for. Years you, Know, sean you're right about that
when it comes down to angles and routes to balls
and LIKE i, said you, know getting the first step off,
there reading it off the bat there. Too some left
fielders have said it's best to read it sometimes coming
(01:39:56):
out of the pitcher's, hand but especially coming off the
parallel of the bats and know which angle and that
the first jupe is so. Important AND i think once
he learns that and gets a number of games under his,
belt it's gonna, be you, know fantastic for. Him AND i,
think you, know one of the keys for them this
spring if they don't go out and get another outfielder
before the waivers, start before teams start releasing players in
camp to see if they're gonna be picked. UP i
love This Brendan rodgers. SIGNING i, mean he's a career
(01:40:18):
two eighty six, hitter number three overall picking that twenty fifteen.
Draft spend a lot of time with The, rockies of,
course but if he brings anything to the table with
the Stick, man the lineup's gonna link them out very.
Well AND i think that's gonna be. Great we know
where we're gonna get From karads And, walker AND i,
think LIKE i, said it's just experimental out, there but,
LOOK i think it's a if you get better defensively
With Brendan. Rodgers he wont a goal glove with The
(01:40:38):
rockies in twenty twenty, two so just want to kind
of get your take on that. Too and if they
don't go out and sign an, outfielder how Important Brendan
rodgers could be if he makes the.
Speaker 1 (01:40:45):
Team And i'll hang up and. Listen thanks, Guys thank You.
Speaker 5 (01:40:47):
Brandon, yeah we've talked About Brendan rodgers quite a bit
here over the last couple of. Weeks and if he
can you, know hit as good as he has in the,
past or you, know give us two sixty two, seventy
have that goal glove defense is going to find a
way into this.
Speaker 1 (01:40:59):
Lineup, so, yeah you're not gonna be able to keep
it because that's that's a that's a, consistent solid pro
baseball player hitting two sixty five two seventy and being
able to glove things and win A Gold. Glove that's
not a minor league. Player that's the guy you need
on your roster for versatility wise as, well whether he's
starting or.
Speaker 5 (01:41:13):
Not, yeah so he's going to, be, uh you, know
fight for for the spot on the excuse, me opening day.
ROSTER i would assume he's gonna make, it depending on
what some of these other guys look. Like just LIKE
i said, Earlier Jacob mountain has already been reassigned TO
Uh TRIPLE, a so he will not be on the
opening day. Roster so it's gonna be interesting to see
Man Brendan rodgers gold glove DEFENDER uh career two eighty
(01:41:37):
six hitter just Like brandon. Said so he'll be vine
for a spot seven one, three, two one two five
at seven and it start a little football turn our
attention to that combine Store sanders making?
Speaker 6 (01:41:46):
Waves what did he? Say that's?
Speaker 1 (01:41:48):

Live out there for The Seawan salisbury show continues to
one of the quarterbacks that should go in the first.
ROUND a couple of mock drafts have him going as
far as up as the in the top. Five let's
hear From Shador. Sanders he made some waves over the.
Weekend this is what he had to say about any
(01:43:14):
organization that drafts.
Speaker 28 (01:43:16):
Him if you ain't trying to change the franchise or the,
coach that don't give, me so you should know history
repeats itself over and over and, over And i've done
it over and over and, over so it should be
no question WHY nfl franchise should. Pick you Think i'm
worry about what critics say or what people got to.
Speaker 1 (01:43:32):
Say you know who my dad.
Speaker 28 (01:43:34):
Is they hated on him, too so it's like it's
almost normal without people.
Speaker 1 (01:43:39):
Hating it's not normal for.
Speaker 7 (01:43:40):
Us so we like the.
Speaker 28 (01:43:42):
Adversity we like everything that comes with the. Name that's
why we are who we.
Speaker 5 (01:43:46):
Are there you, go There's Shoudor. Sanders confidence at an
all time. High as usual For Shaudor, sanders he didn't
throw at the. Combine and then there was a there
was a quarterback coach from a team drafting in the
top seven that refer To Shador sanders as coming off
as brash and arrogant in his team interview and making
(01:44:06):
his assessment known to a number of.
Speaker 1 (01:44:08):
People, YEAH i, UH i try to guard against making
a knee jerk reaction when somebody says this in an.
INTERVIEW i try. To and it's not to Protect, sanders
it's not to Dog. Sanders and he is right about
the fact that his dad and a lot of it self.
Inflicted they bring it on themselves because they are so.
Brash And dion was the same. Way But dion backed
(01:44:29):
it up every single thing he did and the question
is Can shenuer do the same? Thing now there's THE dna.
There the one thing THAT i love About Shudur sanders
more than anything it is that at least he knows
how to take a. Hit, yeah he took a lot of.
Them i'll give him. That but there is that fine
line for some that arrogance and. Confidence somebody will draft him.
Hi then there's the some that the arrogance and. Confidence
(01:44:52):
sometimes you, think, well if he's got to talk about
it a little too strong for. Me i'd prefer a
little more humble, pie because will it get down to
selfishness as opposed to is it about him or is
it about the? Team that's what they're going to start
to ask that question in the, interviews and the interviews are.
Important he's put up some numbers and he's a good.
Player to be honest with, you this draft class doesn't
move me when it comes to the quarterback, position it
(01:45:14):
does not move. Me that does not mean that these
guys can't be great in three years or five years
or can't be to, me put it this, Way stroud
was A Franchise changers rookie. Year Jane, daniels a franchise
changers rookie. YEAR i don't See ward Or, Jackson dart
Or Shuder sanders being a franchise changer where they walk
off the plane when they're drafted and it's an, automatic no.
(01:45:35):
Brainer you're a starter and going to have the success
of those. Two it doesn't look to me like this
group is. That now they've played a lot of. Football
Cam ward's played a lot of football a couple of different.
Places so we'll see what Was. Sanders the confidence is one,
thing humble pie is. Another and LIKE i said to,
me you probably just your. Performance you speak for. Itself
(01:45:56):
you don't have to really tell people that you know
that you love this, stuff love. Adversity well you might love,
pressure but nobody loves adversity when you're going through. It
you love it after because it built. You SO i
don't listen if you're asking, Me Sean, will should your
standards be a star in this? League right? Now the
jury is still out for. Me, yeah and it's not
just because what he said in some media. INTERVIEW i
don't judge him like. That the whole body of work
(01:46:17):
for me and where he's. GOING i think there's still
question marks about what kind of teammate he'll, be And
i'm anxious to see.
Speaker 21 (01:46:23):
It you.
Speaker 5 (01:46:23):
Know he, says they they changed. Programs what they did
In Jackson state was they were really damn. Good came
over To colorado first, year they weren't very. Good this past, year, yeah,
better they got. Better, sure how are they going to?
Be well that he's not the?
Speaker 1 (01:46:40):
Quarterback, well and his dad's not the, coach, yeah meaning
his dad's not the coach of HIS nfl team you're
talking about still back In, colorado, RIGHT i don't.
Speaker 5 (01:46:46):
Know but then, also, yeah that's WHERE i was going
to lead, to, is, well how is Shoudor sander's going
to be not playing for his?
Speaker 1 (01:46:51):
Father, yeah where he's, not where he doesn't the job's
automatically his and all those. Things and of course he
wasn't beat out At, coloradicah he's his best quarterback on that.
Team So i'm anxious to see how he. Responds And
i'll tell you what he's gonna have to get used.
To he's gonna. Lose he's gonna go to a team
you're gonna lose. Games how will he deal with? THAT
a lot of? Times, listen you lose games In colorado
(01:47:11):
guess what you've. Got you got your pops to be
allowed to be He dion has a great way of
distracting you for someone else with His deon's brilliant when
it comes to that how to market, Right and he's
not gonna have that. Umbrella he's gonna have to do
it with somebody, else with another, coach, another a bunch
of quarterbacks in the same room that are grown ass,
men and he'll have to do. IT i know he
(01:47:33):
can throw, it but there's a lot more to play
in this. POSITION i got news for. Him Jackson state
And colorado Ain't sunday the best in the. World find
that out in a. Hurry so he'll make some. Play
he's a guy's a talented. Player now take it To,
sean would you bet a million dollars he's going to
be a franchise quarterback in a Superstar the answer would
BE i would take the know on. THAT i would
(01:47:53):
take the yes on will he be a? Starter and
DO i think he's got a chance to be a good?
Players he's? Skilled?
Speaker 6 (01:47:57):
Absolutely AM i overly burdened the.
Speaker 1 (01:48:00):
Fact that he was? Confident, No i'd rather say that than, say,
WELL i suck and Hopefully i'll be. Better what she's
not going to say he's got his Dad's the question, is,
see his dad talks, it but you know what about his?
Dad his dad believed. It the question, is Is Shador
sanders believe that he's that? Guy? Right we can all
talk about, it but in his soul is he that?
GUY i know his dad. Was his dad told you
(01:48:21):
he was going to do, it and he did.
Speaker 9 (01:48:22):
It did?
Speaker 6 (01:48:22):
It, yeah so we'll go.
Speaker 1 (01:48:23):
See i'm not as convinced maybe as Some IF i
had a first five pick in this, Draft i'd try
to If i'd go out and Get fields Or Russ,
wilson or try to get to our cousins IF i.
Had i'm talking about a vetory THAT i need a
hold over for two years. NOW i think Cam WARD'S
i Have ward slightly head Of Shadur sanders right, now just.
SLIGHTLY i think it's six and one a half does
(01:48:44):
in the. Other and then you get a couple guys
that could rise fast if they get the right, coaching
and like A Jackson darty' is a extremely talented. Player
but to me IS i think that there's when you
go through, it you're going to find out that do
you want to? GO i think that there's a chance
in this free agency period that it's going to be
treated like the senior in college that you Transfer Riley,
(01:49:04):
Leonard Will, howard where a team goes out and gets a. Guy,
No i'm not those. Guys you approach it like, college say,
WELL i can draft the, guy But I'M i still.
Don't AM i ready to commit my franchise At cleveland
with all that's going on there To Shador, sanders with
all the chaos that goes on? There AM i willing
to do? That or CAN i slide by with a?
(01:49:24):
Guy cousins Knows stefanski right. That weren't they together In?
MINNESOTA i think they? Were so you, think, okay is
it not Saying cousins over the long term is going
to be. Better but you're not looking for long. Term
you're trying to get out because if You're Kevin, stefanski you're,
thinking And Andrew, berry you know what you're. THINKING i
got to win. NOW i got to win a game or.
Two and then The Miles garrett talk that he wants,
out you got to go. Win so who gives you
a better chance to win? Tomorrow probably a Veteran Russell.
(01:49:47):
Wilson i'm not talking about to you. KNOW i Think
Russell wilson's best football is behind. Him but you've just
got some, good good football experience while you're training shoulder. Stands.
SEE i don't think either one of them are ready
to take on a franchise and dominate. It and if
Cam ward goes to The, giants that's. Tough so that's
a tough city to start your your your you, know
if they traded with uh What tennessee or, something move
into the top Spot tennessee got the first pick Or
(01:50:09):
Cleveland tennessee and Then cleveland's what second or? Third, right
so you you move into that spot. There it's like
that The giants if they were able to trade and
get there your your. Type if they want to trade
up to get one of those, guys that's a lot of.
Pressure Ask Daniel jones how that turned. Out huh so, yeah,
yeah he signed a big contract and then got brain
out of. Town i'm not are you, Overleak i'm not overly.
(01:50:30):
Concerned There's Brandon. Listen LIKE i, said one guy's one
Guy's i'm not interested as another guy's. Treasure, yeah the
question is if you're gonna draft, him which one are? You?
Speaker 5 (01:50:39):
Right, Yeah i'm not overly concerned with how should Or
sanders carries. Himself he's always been doing, this all, Right,
yeah this is not. New, no give me the production
on the field to back up his, talk.
Speaker 1 (01:50:48):
Right and then go Be it'll be a great. Teammate,
yeah we'll. SEE i Just i'm not sold that this
class is gonna wow us On sundays just.
Speaker 5 (01:50:56):
Yet, yeah it's gonna. Be it's gonna be obviously a
wait and. See BUT i just feel like some of these,
guys it might Be, Jackson dart And quinn yours that
might have the best success in THE.
Speaker 1 (01:51:07):
Nfl right, Now ward And sanders should. Go should be
the top two. Quarterbacks they produced and had great college.
Careers it's a different. Ballgame and remember usually you're going
to a bad team when you're drafted. High so you
got some fixing to.
Speaker 6 (01:51:20):
Do you See Will howard's throwing performance well very?
Speaker 1 (01:51:24):
Good was it was not very?
Speaker 14 (01:51:25):
Good?
Speaker 1 (01:51:26):
Now Will howard had a good throwing performance in the
postseason that caught the college. Playoff you played really? Good
he played really. Well, yeah so he went there to
try and enhance himself and in shorts and A t.
Shirt he hurt, Him he hurt.
Speaker 6 (01:51:36):
Himself it was not.
Speaker 1 (01:51:38):
Good, man.
Speaker 5 (01:51:38):
Dude he couldn't hit somebody on a slant. Route he couldn't,
throw he couldn't throw the deep.
Speaker 6 (01:51:43):
Ball he looked. Terrible it's. Duot i'm talking, like.
Speaker 1 (01:51:46):
That's the that's the guy who needs to throw at
the combine because he needs to impress. Him but if
you're gonna, throw you've got to make shorts and A
t shirt or your, bitch, basically if you really, do
because it's not that. Tough it was, Bad, YEAH i.
Know and it was, like, well they're you're a free agent,
now so hopefully you can go to the last pick
of the draft and you can hopefully turn Into Brock.
Purty but he's a big guy with somebody who knows
(01:52:06):
how to, win a lot of. Experience.
Speaker 5 (01:52:08):
Yeah i've read a combine report AND i guess an
unnamed team official from one of the team's drafting AND
i think they said top. Fifteen it was an either
ASSISTANT gm OR gm said it was one of the
worst throwing performances he's ever seen at a.
Speaker 1 (01:52:21):
Combine if you can't throw in shorts and A t.
Shirt du what are we doing? Here Will howard'll be
lucky to be taking in the first four or five.
RNTs not mean then you can. Do some team may, say,
WELL i saw him perform in the, postseason and he he,
form maybe that's more, important and some may say screw.
That he's more accurate than. That it was just a bad,
Day and it may have very well been a bad,
day but that's the wrong time to have a bad. Day,
(01:52:42):
yeah any other day in a controlled environment climate where
there's you got the, facility it's easy to throw in
and to be yanking it all over the lot and
just not into the right guy's. Hands you'll get passed
a few times after.
Speaker 5 (01:52:55):
That, yeah not good, Man not good for. Him what
are The texans going to do when it comes to this? Draft,
afts let's talk about.
Speaker 1 (01:53:01):
That Next Sean salisbury show continues to. Continue, McAdams, no
it's Not rachel mccatams that said that one movie Where
rachel mccaams a different movie With Ryan. GOSLING i, think,
yeah what's the name On Goshtrish Courtney cox yeadro see
(01:53:26):

get her start When springsteen pulled her up on stage
in his music video to that song and in the,

(02:00:26):

TITLE mlb should not Reinstate Pete. Rose why nothing has
changed about hits leaders baseball. Gambling do you Think Pete
(02:04:13):
rose should be reinstated To Major League?
Speaker 1 (02:04:15):
BASEBALL i absolutely. Do it's long overdue served as. Time
didn't do it as a, player did it as a
manager bet on his team to. WIN i get. It
but we are going to let, well let's do this.
TOWN a guy can put a bullet in somebody's head
and be walking out on a rape in somebody or
one of, those and walking out a handful of months
(02:04:35):
later on a bond that they did rollman streets and
go kill somebody. Again we're cool with, that, Right and,
well a lot that. Happen, no you get my. Point
i'm being, facetious, right, yeah, yeah we get a guy
who made a gambling, mistake and it was a, mistake
and it's all over the. Place if we went by
everybody the maative mistake and broke rules in law and
didn't get a second chance, society we wouldn't be a
second chance. Society, Okay Pete rose was great for. Baseball it's.
(02:04:58):
Simple put a little plaque in there that, says here's
why it was so. Late pete Tell Pete rose's. Story
it's a. Shrine it is a. Shrine and let's see
who said, This oh this Is i'm trying to think
who said, This oh this? Is trump be judged for
what you did on the, field not what you did.
Off trump is probably going to pardon, him. Obviously hall
(02:05:21):
of fame is for two. Things your family when you're
here and your fans when you're, here not when you're
ten feet. Under and it's the. Truth and SO i just,
LISTEN i understand he needed to suffer the. Consequences there
was arrogance about it and. Everything there's no, doubt BUT
i don't think it's a hall of fame with. That
guys Like Pete rose in. It but you can tell
their story doesn't mean they Were, listen Ty cobb wasn't
(02:05:42):
exactly the the UH a man that you. Know Ty
cobb had his. Issue everybody's had some gone through. Something
Pete rose was told not to, gamble it was on,
it and he, did and he faced major consequences for.
It there's no doubt he's. DEAD i think it's sad
That pete didn't get to see his bust in The
hall Of. Fame but for for goodness, sakes can we
(02:06:03):
please stop the, arrogance because here's WHAT i want to
do for all the people that. Vote can you imagine
if you open up the can of worms for them
and some of the things they're doing in their, life
but they still get a vote on somebody's. Future you
think every Single hall Of fame voter is squeaky? Clean
oh that's A i.
Speaker 5 (02:06:20):
Do we've talked about, This sean like This hall Of
fame voting with those. PEOPLE i think it's an utter.
Speaker 1 (02:06:24):
Embarrassment NOW i respect if somebody done their due, Diligence
like you, Know i've told you we've Had Dan shaughnessy.
ON i may not agree with, him but if your
stand firm on, something stand. Firm BUT i also know
that you can't just it can't just BE i guess you.
Can but for, Me i'm willing to. Listen that's why
we have like. Parole when it comes, out are you
have you fixed? Yourself are you? Good can you go
(02:06:46):
out and make a. DIFFERENCE i think most baseball, players
there'll be some hardcore ones that know how dare him
an old school. Riders BUT i think it's. Arrogance Pete
rose was good for, baseball and you know, what they'll
All Pete rose was a great. Story when he played
a quote moved. Around he, listen don't you pay your?
Penance has any done that to? Baseball has any paid?
It has any paid? IT i, mean at some point in,
(02:07:07):
time all you got to. Do nobody's, saying you go
in there and he's clean is a. Whistle tell his.
Story let kids that you're coaching right now at ten
that don't Know Pete rose tell his story and put
him in The hall Of. Fame his numbers on the
field were undeniable, period hence the hit. King so, yes you.
Can't you can say all they want seek to. Me
it's a self righteous approach to say absolutely. Not now
(02:07:30):
if you still feel after the, fact you go through
everything and you've been talked through, it then Now i'm
still not ready to do. IT i respect, That but
to come out and say here's, why blah blah blah blah,
blah like everybody that votes for The hall Of fame is,
uh just, hey if we uncovered your life and ask
you a few questions about drinking Or, gamu how would
you have, well Was it's not against the rules for. Me,
yeah BUT i think that we got a lot of self,
(02:07:51):
righteous holier than now writers who do it on purpose
to keep him. Out and most of, them you know
why they're keeping him. Out they didn't like him as a.
Dude that's usual why they snubbed, him didn't do an
interview with. Him usually like. It AND i respect people
that don't Want Pete rose. In it's not A hall
Of fame Unless Pete rose is in. It let's.
Speaker 5 (02:08:09):
See so with this article FROM Cbs, Sports Rob manfred
is reportedly reviewing a petition to Reinstate Pete. Rose, Also
President trump has hinted that he's going to Pardon Pete.
Rose so that's obviously led to a lot of discussions
whether to let In Pete rose or.
Speaker 6 (02:08:27):
Not this writer, again his name Is Matt.
Speaker 5 (02:08:30):
Snyder he, says hopefully that review doesn't take very long
and it ends in a definitive, no because the league
absolutely does not need to Reinstate, rose nor should.
Speaker 6 (02:08:39):
It what was his, reasoning, Though let's see.
Speaker 5 (02:08:43):
He Lists he lists the facts of him cheating or not,
cheating excuse, me a gambling on, baseball.
Speaker 6 (02:08:52):
Violating the rules as both a player and.
Speaker 5 (02:08:54):
Manager he willingly did something that carried the punishment of
a permanent band and was punished with a permanent, ban
and yet so many people are outrage on his. Behalf
he did the crime and will continue to do the proverbial.
TIME i don't, know, man this, dude he just he.
Continues he basically he, said you cannot. Tolerate, yeah he
(02:09:16):
says in this you cannot tolerate What Pete rose, did
which is why the punishment was so steep when the
rule came, about and why that punishment remains just As
Steep rose chose to violate the rule again and. Again
the punishment for the crime was a permanent ban from.
Baseball there's no.
Speaker 1 (02:09:31):
Doubt there's no doubt at the time did he he,
Road but at what point time do we take a
step back and, Say, okay at some, point what's the
harm of putting him In let's, see even by sending
a message it, says here's his. Story i'm with.
Speaker 6 (02:09:45):
You my whole point, is AND i know you echo
the same.
Speaker 5 (02:09:48):
Sentiments my whole point with this thing is he is
still at the end of the, day the best the
hits leader and no one's going to even come close
to touching. Him you put him in The hall of,
fame and you tell his story because everybody else that's
in the hall of, fame isn't there a story told
about that?
Speaker 1 (02:10:02):
Thing and it may not be that heinous and the
gambling because it was a, no no and. Permanent, MAN
i get, it but even, Permanently, okay we get government
trying to change the constitution every time when' that's supposed
to be permanent in etchst And stone for the most,
PART i mean try to change. It, see we try
to manipulate it to serve. Us, Right pete morose, Out
Pete roseenn doesn't he's passed. Away now it's going to
(02:10:22):
be the people that have survived him that will celebrate in.
It BUT i just Maybe i'm to the. One whether it's,
drugs whether it's, alcohol whether it's there's certain things that
you know in baseball that in life that you. Know
i'm always willing to listen to the story after and,
say why where are we at? Now has there been remorse?
Involved is? He and some will think That pete was still,
(02:10:44):
arrogant don't WANT i get, It AND i do understand their,
point But i'm speaking my. POINT i think A hall
of fame's better With Pete rose in it if you
tell the, story and people shouldn't the full, story the full.
Story it just bothers. Me NOW i want to know.
This who what's the guy's?
Speaker 6 (02:10:58):
Name this is A?
Speaker 1 (02:10:59):
Snyder, Okay Matt Snyder's Matt. Snyder Matt sneyder does is
he bothered that baseball's heavy into a gambling, sponsorships.
Speaker 5 (02:11:07):
So he Brought he brings that. Up it's perfect said
that BECAUSE i was literally about to go to. It
so he, says let me go to. It because this
is a, long long, article all. Right he says every
argument that's made In Pete rose's favor is just a.
Deflection he says fans can gamble on baseball AND mlb
has deals with gambling. Companies team personnel are still forbidden
from gambling on diamond. Sports this again changes absolutely. Nothing,
(02:11:32):
also here's another thing where he talks About Pete rose
and what is In. Cooperstown Regarding Pete, rose he, says
you can't tell the story of baseball without Mentioning Pete
rose and his hits record in addition to winning AN
mvp and Three World series. Title there's an entire exhibition
In cooperstown on his hits. Record it's, There it's in
The hall Of. Fame he'll never be. Forgotten he's an
immortal baseball talking. Point so if you already have that
(02:11:56):
in what is why can't you just reinstate him and
put him?
Speaker 1 (02:12:01):
In and so one player it's almost it's almost serves
the baseball world. Better so you're telling me he's good
enough for you to put some of his stuff in,
there talking about his hits or a bat or something.
There but we can't put him in The hall Of,
fame but we can use his stuff that he used to.
Do that is that what you're telling me is that
what's in?
Speaker 18 (02:12:16):
There?
Speaker 5 (02:12:16):
Oh here's he goes. On he kind of makes it personal.
Here does he really deserve that meaning getting? In he,
says we're talking about the guy who's stayed the game
by gambling on. It he lied about it for well
over a decade and then decided to come clean when
he thought it would get him. Reinstated and yet he
still justified his actions by explaining that he only bet
on his team to. Win of, course there's a wrinkle
in there that needs our. Focus to be, honest With,
(02:12:37):
SEAN i wasn't around back then when he was playing,
baseball when he was gambling on. It but being a
massive baseball fan THAT i, am AND i WHEN i
look At Pete rose and looking about his, GAMBLING i
really don't give a.
Speaker 1 (02:12:47):
Damn ESPECIALLY i don't care since he bet on his
team to. WIN i don't care that he gambled on.
Speaker 6 (02:12:53):
Baseball.
Speaker 5 (02:12:53):
Y i guarantee You Shoe Hao toadny bet on. Baseball
you cannot convince He'll he'll never get touched and we
will never.
Speaker 1 (02:13:00):
Know even if he didn't bet that he was the
one who pushed the. Button he knows who he knows
who did. It BUT i told you from get go
you were the golden. Child wasn't getting that golden boy
of baseball was not getting no matter if they just
said he'd bet a million dollars a, game they would.
Not they were bringing him. Down. No, well but For
Pete rose And pete's you, know a little more arrogant
and stuff being, Facetious pete was, confident needless to. Say
(02:13:23):
but my whole, thing And i'm with, YOU i HONESTLY
i don't care if you go to those seem to,
lose that THAT i would have bothered. Me it doesn't
Bother maybe back fifty twenty years ago or thirty or
forty years ago may have bothered me, more but it
doesn't really bother. Me especially with the hypocrisy of pro
sports now all the gambling and. Stuff they're making billions off.
It but you can't go bet on your team to.
Win i'd sure like rather bet you on the team
(02:13:44):
to win and lose because all the moves you're making
or to win to. Win if you're betting on your
team to, lose then your. Throwing there's no on the.
Game and people will argue with us on, that But
i'm Probably I'M i understand why it's, there BUT i
don't go To it didn't keep me up at. Night,
yeah and this guy mere That Pete rose isn't in
The hall Of.
Speaker 5 (02:14:03):
Fame, yeah this guy's, Saying, oh we're talking about the
guy who's stay in the game by gambling on. It
he didn't stay in the. Game does steroids stay in the,
game maybe at the, time doesn't stay in the game?
Speaker 8 (02:14:11):
Now.
Speaker 6 (02:14:11):
No nineteen ninety, Eight Mark.
Speaker 5 (02:14:13):
Maguire Sammy sosa freaking saved baseball and they were both
massive ped.
Speaker 1 (02:14:17):
Guys we, hold we hold apparently in pro, sports we
hold gambling in a bigger offense than domestic. Violence that's
for damn. Sure i'm arguing that at all then, rape,
yeah at, times maybe even Murder, yeah, okay but All
god forbid he. Gambles lifetime, Ban, yeah that's. Why but
(02:14:41):
even as a lifetime, ban there's got to be a
lifetime that there's still gotta be a chance to come
back and tell your.
Speaker 5 (02:14:47):
Story Pete rose's story belongs in The hall Of. Fame,
YEAH i, AGREE i, Agree And i'm sure people are
gonna argue with. This they, Argue i'm not gonna hate
him for saying something. Different BUT i got news for.
Speaker 1 (02:14:58):
You you can give me a gambler in The hall
Of fame before you can give me a guy who
punches women in the.
Speaker 5 (02:15:03):
Face, Yeah i'll take that that. Guy don't those guys
get second and third? Chances second? Third how many guys
in THE nfl have done that and? All and how
many have done it that we don't know about because they're?
Afraid what about Ray? Lewis isn't The hall Of?
Speaker 1 (02:15:16):
Famer he sure is and one of the.
Speaker 5 (02:15:17):
Best what, happened what did he? Get what was he involved?
In allegedly allegedly a? Murder, right, well the cover up
of it or, something whatever it. Is but he's A
hall Of famer AND i we don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:15:26):
The answers to, that don't know all the answer to
any of. It BUT i can tell you. This if
we're banning, one why aren't we banning the?
Speaker 19 (02:15:31):
Other?
Speaker 1 (02:15:32):
Exactly and how dare any of us be self righteous
enough to think that we're above so that did, that
that we're so that we're so crystal clean and pure
that we can sit. Back we can all have an,
opinion but the judgment that Basically Pete rose is a.
Heel according to this, guy he's a bad. Guy And
i'd just like to know if we followed that guy
around twenty four to, seven would he be leading the
life of? PURENESS i doubt it all the. TIME i
(02:15:53):
maybe he, Is maybe he walks on. WATER i don't.
Know and it was a conscious, mistake was it? Was
it wasn't a. Mistake it was a decision By Pete.
Rose there's no. Doubt i'm in the forgiveness. Business, YEAH
i just. Am And it's LIKE i, said if you
tell his story without you don't need a brown nose
and put him in tell his. Story so he, was
he made a major, mistake and then but then also
put at the end of that story say but there's
(02:16:14):
never been a pure singles hit or better in the
in the in the history of THE i think he's
got three thousand singles in.
Speaker 5 (02:16:19):
Baseball that's, insane it's, nuts it's. Crazy seven, one, three,
two two, five seven. Ninety we'll get your reaction To Pete.
Speaker 1 (02:16:25):
Rose, next we're gonna have to turn this matter over To.
Speaker 2 (02:16:29):
Sean oh no.
Speaker 1 (02:16:32):
More Sean salisbury On Sports talk seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (02:16:36):
Got a couple guys want to get in on This
Pete rose. Discussion basically what we were talking. About if
you're just joining, us we just got done paying, bills
Like sean always likes to.
Speaker 1 (02:16:44):
Do, no, YEAH i don't ever talk about paying bills
ON h ONE o one. Not what not to, Say.
Speaker 5 (02:16:52):
Rob manfred is we're reportedly reviewing a petition to Reinstate Pete,
rose should he be allowed into The hall Of. Fame real,
quickly before we get out to the phone, lines our
Guy trevor Mak he's always listening to. Us he tweeted
me and, Said Pete rose had a lifetime. Band, well
his life has, ended so that life time band should be.
Speaker 1 (02:17:10):
Liftinging you could have said it. Better that's a great.
Point now these let his family at least they didn't gamble,
them let them enjoy it in his.
Speaker 6 (02:17:17):
Fans so let's talk To ronnie first and we'll get To.
Gary what's Up?
Speaker 19 (02:17:20):
Ronnie, hey, guys appreciate y'all taking The collin loved the
conversation as. ALWAYS i Think i'm seventy years old baseball
fan my whole, life so not real happy with What rose.
DID i don't have the answer to. It, HOWEVER i
agree with. Y'all i've been fortunate enough to go to
The Pro football And Pro Baseball hall Of. Fame but
(02:17:42):
they Have bond stuff in. There they have clem and
stuff in. There they Have maguire stuff in, there but they.
Speaker 1 (02:17:48):
Won't let them in the.
Speaker 19 (02:17:49):
HALL i found that really JUST i couldn't believe. It
it was so. Hypocritical you can't come, in but we
want your, stuff but you can't come. In that does
need to be, addressed BUT i don't believe this needs
To you, know If President trump says he's he's he's.
EXONERATED i don't think that MAKES mlb have to.
Speaker 1 (02:18:12):
Take their own governing. Body they. Don't President trump doesn't
get to decide whether he goes to The hall Of
fame or. Not. Unfortunately but that's just a. Fact.
Speaker 19 (02:18:22):
OKAY i just wanted to let y'all, know, Though BUT
i JUST i couldn't believe they had all this stuff in,
there but not their plaques, anyway.
Speaker 1 (02:18:29):
Right, great great friggin. Point it's it's it's so. Hypocritical,
HEY i want this, BAT i want that home run
you hit during. It i'm. ASSUMING i, MEAN i haven't
you know what's. Crazy of all the How i've been
to all The hall Of, FAMES i haven't been to that.
One and that's the ONE i want to. Go that's
the ONE i want to. Go do the worst the most,
Say i'm assuming That, bonds the ball or a bat
that he hit that the home run with is in. There,
(02:18:51):
correct the when he hit seventy what was the seventy
was in the, Seventies, yeah so did they have that
in The hall Of? Fame? Yeah so during a steroid
era in which the commissioner is in the stair in
The hall Of fame in bud seely that the ball
and the bats or okay seventy, yeah Big mac and
(02:19:13):
he so that ball's the ones that bonds. Hit he's
got stuff in The hall Of fame that he used in, games,
Correct but we can't put him in The hall Of? Fame,
yes not. Man if that's not the ultimate, HYPOCRISY i
don't know what it. Is it's it's a daily shouldn't
they if you don't want him the hall of? Fame
shouldn't all this stuff just be sticking to some storage shed. Somewhere,
(02:19:34):
yes see to, me That's and then a, caller who
would you? Say On? Twitter On? Twitter, Yeah trevor great
Point uh a lifetime. Band the guy's. Dead now he's,
Dead he's never going to get to enjoy. It so
so now that he's, dead who you? Punishing now you're
going to punish his. Family When Pete rose was doing,
that his kids were knee high to a hiccup playing
(02:19:59):
a handball against the they're newly buddy you know there
there's they were. Young, Yeah so we're gonna punish the
kids of the family Because Pete. Rose, Uh now that he's, dead. Yeah,
now can we honor it now and let those who
want to go see and be honored be. Honored and
those who are mad and voted against, it that's fine.
Too that that is fine, too how about. IT i
don't argue somebody who has things. Different it's when it
(02:20:19):
gets self righteous that bothers.
Speaker 5 (02:20:21):
Me that's what bothers me as. Well let's talk To
gary real. Quick what's Up? Gary, hey, guys hear? Me all,
right we got, you.
Speaker 6 (02:20:27):
Buddy what's?
Speaker 1 (02:20:27):
Happening? Okay uh? Yeah on This Pete rose. Deal, uh
he just met on.
Speaker 29 (02:20:32):
Baseball he didn't change his, body which everything he did
in baseball was. Him it wasn't altered because of a chemical.
Imbalance to, me the steroids is worse because it changed
who you were and who who you used to, be
and what you did was not really. You So Pete,
ROSE i think he got Called all the other guys
(02:20:53):
with him By. Ruth all those guys they didn't got
caught doing, stuff But pete.
Speaker 1 (02:20:57):
Did but the one guy took my. THUNDER i was
all for a. Lifetime, man he's.
Speaker 29 (02:21:02):
Not, alive he's, dead and he exemplified what. Baseball Craig
bigio is WHO i relate to WHEN i think About Pete,
rose they're they're pretty much. Alike But Pete, Rose, uh
he is exemplifies. Baseball so put his ass in The
hall Of. Fame, uh because he's not alive.
Speaker 21 (02:21:21):
Anymore.
Speaker 1 (02:21:22):
Amen that's, it, Guys thank you a great. Point kind
of like when you're talking about, steroids kind of like
they enhanced their body and gave themselves an. Advantage you,
mean kind of like when men playing women's. Sports, YEAH
i kind of like that.
Speaker 16 (02:21:35):
Too.
Speaker 1 (02:21:35):
Yeah that the dude that competed in the long jump
triple jump in and a women's. Event, dude he beat
him by like eight. Feet, yes, yeah what a. Shock
and let's let's keep encouraging that fight our whole life
for women to get if women, make if they get
to you, know if all things being, equal they should
(02:21:57):
be have equal. Pay, yes, nobody foul things being, now
the metrics of ore enough people coming to stay all.
That you know that we've been arguing. Forever but they
fought for, votes for, Voting they fought for some equal,
opportunity equal. Pay for us to turn on THE tv
and give them equally allow them to let's watch their
great skill set shine and scholarships and doing all the
(02:22:18):
things they do and working their ass off in a man's. World,
unfortunately when it comes to pro sports and that type of,
stuff it's been that way and shifting And i'm okay
with equal. Pay i'm. Okay, now, listen if you're feeling.
It if the stadium's flowing up four thousand people and
another one's flowing up one hundred and forty thousand, people
you can understand the money, situation right that that part
that's for them to. Argue but they do deserve. It
(02:22:40):
and so we fight for this our whole, life meaning,
them women fight for, this and then a dude can just,
say you know, What i'm Gonna i'm gonna. Change i'm
gonna be a woman to day and i can be a.
Woman i'm gonna go in And i'm gonna win that
gold medal and all the endorsements that go with, it
and we're encouraging we're encouraging men to go beat you know,
(02:23:01):
What i'm all four having a league you if you're
if you have transgender and you want to have your
own sports, league have at. IT i think it'd be.
GREAT i, mean that's equal, opportunity, Right, yeah have at.
It start a. League Take i'm sure somebody out there
that supports it has billions of. Dollars put it out
there and see who goes to the. Games give them
their own league to compete against each. Other no. Problem
(02:23:23):
but you're you're, saying, hey no, problem you go in,
there do, it and please don't tell me that it's
not an. Advantage it's a blatant advantage and it's been.
Proven listen to this real. Quick Ab, hernandez a transgender,
athlete set The division three girls triple jump meat record
at The Ontario relays in Southern. California this was last.
Week Ab hernandez had an astonishing.
Speaker 5 (02:23:45):
Forty foot, jump eight feet ahead of the second place,
finisher not eight inches eight.
Speaker 1 (02:23:53):
Feet what's astonishing about it the fact that we knew
going in that was gonna happen because it's a, male
it's a it's a competing against.
Speaker 5 (02:24:01):
Women this, person a By, hernandez also secured victories in
the triple, jump long, jump and sprint.
Speaker 1 (02:24:08):
Medley and you know, what see IF, i IF i
was a, coach and if she was a, coach like
a high school, coach, YEAH i just cut. THEM i
had to say not. Good it didn't fit well in
the locker. Room cut, them you're not playing with the.
Speaker 6 (02:24:20):
WOMEN i could not IMAGINE i just cut them coaching.
Speaker 1 (02:24:23):
IF i was coaching a Transgender i'm all for its
ender against, transgender men against, men women against. Women it
makes no sense to. Me it absolutely makes no sense
that we allow. That we have that many people, Vote,
yeah just allowed it made absolutely no. SENSE i MEAN i, could,
like we could spend four hours on. THIS i don't
get how that's fair to these women who fought all
(02:24:45):
these years to a, scholarship a gold, medal winning a you,
know an, event, uh you win a w you, know
a boxing, match and it could be the difference in,
life you, know generational wealth money because it leads to
other fights and. ENDORSEMENTS i JUST i don't get. It
the bottom line, is if you're not good enough to
do it in your own, sport don't come into theirs
in your own with your own. Gender, yeah it's A
(02:25:07):
i don't. Key you can argue with. Me it has
nothing to do with, gay it has nothing to do with.
Transgender you go do what you want to, do but
you don't have to crowbar it into the. Women they deserve.
It they deserve to play against each other fairly on
an even playing, field and we're not doing. That so
save me the hypocritical you want this but don't want,
That save. IT i. DON'T i don't play, it. Man
and if you're asking me If i'm intolerant of men
(02:25:28):
playing in women's, sports here's my, answer one hundred. Percent
just LIKE i don't WANT i wouldn't want my daughter
standing next to a guy in the bathroom while he's
dropping a troubles not gonna do. It you could, say,
well they're not going to bother anybody until they bother, Somebody,
okay so save. It and if that's self, righteous, Fine
but you know, what when it comes to those, morals,
advice we've all made, mistakes not those kind of. Mistakes
(02:25:50):
and in my, league men don't get to play against,
women whatever league that would. Be but if they want
to play against transgender play against, MEN i have no
problem with. It, dude that's. You it's a little different to.
ME i don't understand, it BUT i don't need to understand.
It WHAT i don't understand AND i do need to,
understand is why we got people sitting up on high
that that can prevent this from, happening and they've encouraged
(02:26:12):
it to.
Speaker 6 (02:26:13):
Happen it doesn't make sense to.
Speaker 16 (02:26:14):
Me it's not.
Speaker 1 (02:26:14):
Equal there's nothing equal about. It, yes that's the thing
we want. Equally there's nothing equal about, it and we
should be intolerant to.
Speaker 5 (02:26:21):
It, Yeah i'm with, you man seven one, three two
one two five seven, Night it's get to break right.
Speaker 6 (02:26:25):
Here On Sports talk seven to, Eighty.
Speaker 1 (02:26:28):
The Shawn Salisbury show, Continued.
Speaker 6 (02:26:32):
Good, Morning, josh good.
Speaker 8 (02:26:34):
Morning, HEY i just wanted to, ask how come we
always hear about men competing in women's, sports that's transgender,
Athletes but that's not the way?
Speaker 1 (02:26:42):
Around is it because of fairness or because they know
they can? Win talking about why we don't have women
competing against men? Exactly, well, now, listen IF i can find,
you IF i can Take Nelly corda on the golf,
course and she can be AND i guarantee you on
a certain given, day she'll beat those men. Playing but
she's not going to dominate the sport like she does
(02:27:03):
her own because those guys are one hundred yards. Longer
but because the women do it, right they compete against.
Women that's why it's supposed to. Be, NOW i don't
have any, problem like when we get those fun, tournaments
like When anakasor And stam would play against a. MALE
i think it's awesome because in that, way, no but,
yeah mixed doubles and all that mixed. Doubles but that's everybody,
(02:27:25):
agreeing and it's not it's not their daily. THING i
like it with the. Exhibition they mix it in in
big tournaments and the rest of, it no. Problem and
the truth, is and why not because you're the? Underdog
is a female going in when it comes to the
physical prowess of these, Guys that's why the other way,
around the advantages on the. Men so why do we
want to give them in the advantage in their own
sport and then turn around and give them the advantage
in a women's. Sport it makes no sense to. Me
(02:27:46):
it makes no sense to. Me women should never have
to deal with a with a, man a biological, man
in their, sport not at high, school not in little,
league not in professional, sports not in, anywhere shape or, form,
none not one, never unless they choose to come into
the men's sport and say yeah for. Fun Billy Jean
king And bobby. Riggs let's have a fun, event raise,
(02:28:08):
money or let's go out. There, HELL i don't want
to play Against Nelly quarter Or Lydia. Coe they'll kill
you on the golf. Course bury. You but you know
what they're not going to do playing from the back
teas where it would be equal from a seventy eight
hundred yard course at A Us open. Venue, well they
may hit it. STRAIGHT i mean they're going to be
hitting one hundred and twenty yards behind the guys or.
Longer it's not fair to the. Women what is. Fair
(02:28:30):
they get to compete against their, own their own and
men shouldn't be competing against women at any. Level and,
yes if intolerance to that it bothers, SOMEBODY i don't
care because we should be intolerant to. That it's unfair
to women and what they fought for for yours And
i'm shocked at women who have fought for it turn
around and now support men coming in playing in their own.
(02:28:50):
SPORT i just don't get. It it makes no sense to.
Speaker 6 (02:28:53):
Me thank, you thank you, Man Thanks, josh appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (02:29:00):
Real. Quick it's common. Sense excuse. Me sounds like a
lot of common sense, there but, yep common isn't. So,
hey did you guys see The Deebo samuels traded over the? Weekend,
yes for a fifth, round fifth round.
Speaker 6 (02:29:14):
Pick stole It. Commanders if he's, healthy it's a.
Speaker 1 (02:29:17):
STEAL i can tell you. That if he is. Healthy
they they that was legalized theft a fifth. Rounder that's
all it.
Speaker 6 (02:29:24):
Took.
Speaker 1 (02:29:24):
Yep if he's, healthy because he creates problems bandwidth wise for. Defenses,
yeah that's a good get Into Jayden. Daniels that's a
really good fifth rounder, Man Gid, Gracious i'd have done
it too IF i Was. Washington i'm taking the risk
that he's going to be. Healthy if he's not, well
then you didn't lose. Much it's a fifth round although
fifth round it could turn out to be a great,
player But i'm taking my chances With.
Speaker 6 (02:29:45):
Debo.
Speaker 5 (02:29:46):
Yeah and staying with, Football Quinn youwers had himself a
day throwing the. Football he had a really good throwing
performance at the. Combine his deep ball really really good
and he was no shots by a couple of different
members OF nfl. Organizations having one of the best throwing
(02:30:10):
performances in this quarterback.
Speaker 6 (02:30:12):
Group he was clearly one, of if not the best
thrower at the.
Speaker 1 (02:30:16):
Combine, well, see there's a guy who realizes that going
to the combine and throwing is to his. Advantage shorts
and A t. Shirt oh, Man i'm a shine. THERE
i get to rip it around the lot and show
people will listen to the. Ball it sounds different jumping
off my. Hand wise move by, him because this was
a guy who was supposed to be a first rounder
and now they don't have him in the first, round
(02:30:38):
and maybe he's in the second, round maybe for some
the third maybe possibly early in the second, round and
maybe that type of performance or if he does, well
somebody jumps him into the first. Round worked for. Him
but if you're going to throw in shorts and A t,
shirt make sure you do it. Well, yeah and he.
Did he looked really. Good that just plays right into his.
Hand he did his, Strength he looked. Good Will howard did. Not,
(02:30:59):
yeah and uh, yeah you can't miss a flat route
in routes on air in front of professional.
Speaker 6 (02:31:06):
Scouts you cannot that.
Speaker 1 (02:31:07):
Part you can't.
Speaker 5 (02:31:08):
Do, no you, cannot and real quick on some. Astros
lance Mcullors junior took a pretty big step in his.
Comeback he pitched over the, weekend he faced live Hitters John,
Singleton Jake, Myers Christian, walker his fast walking up to
ninety five miles an.
Speaker 1 (02:31:21):
Hour, YEAH i was gonna, SAY i wonder how his
body feels. Today this is about the you, know a
couple of days after how his. Body SO i think
twenty pitches is all he.
Speaker 6 (02:31:27):
Threw, yeah he didn't throw verybody he.
Speaker 1 (02:31:29):
Did he did ramp it, up get up to ninety.
Five it is pretty. Impressive so, Yep i'm anxious to
see whereas bo if they say all his body's, fine
he's on his regularly scheduled you, know workout, stuff then
and Then i'll Feel i'll feel even better about.
Speaker 5 (02:31:40):
It Louis garcia hit ninety miles an hour in his
bullpen just a couple of days. Ago so the two
guys working their way back into the rotation or back
into the staff In lance mccullor's junior And Louis Garcia
jake Not Jake. Myer excuse, Me lance mccullors will be
ready to go Before Louis garcia taken some pretty big.

Team he put out some little statement On twitter.
Speaker 5 (02:37:18):
Because a lot of The aggie faithful are really pissed
off with how the season has, started and they're questioning
the head, Coach Michael.
Speaker 6 (02:37:25):
Early he was.

Shane probably is the silent maybe The Shane shane.
Speaker 6 (02:37:46):
DIOH i don't know who.
Speaker 5 (02:37:48):
Cares some of the things THAT i am seeing on
x And instagram are just absolutely disgusting and. Ridiculous we
all understand that we are not playing to the best
of our, abilities but the level of hate and disrespct
being thrown around is completely. Unacceptable. Line at the end
of the, day we're all humid human and no one
is more frustrated than we. Are we're working every day
to be better and this is not helping at. All
no one has any idea what any of us are going.
(02:38:09):
Through this doesn't just go for baseball. Team it goes
for every other sport as. Well let's go back to
being aggie fans instead of acting like opposing team.
Speaker 1 (02:38:16):
Fans let's do. Better kig them and he's a. Player
yeah what a. Door well here's the. Problem let the
pr handle that exactly because when you do, that now
you've just opened the can of worms for everybody to
even go after you harder and EVERY sec team on the.
Planet guess what they're. Doing, oh rabbit, ears let's go get.
Them because that's BECAUSE i know this is one thing for.
Fans they sure do listen to our pleads not to
(02:38:36):
not to get. It no they. Don't you just open
up a can of works for all of. Them no
signage is coming. Out, yeah you've played ten games this
season and you feel like you got to put out a.
Statement the bottom line is What, yeah quit trying to.
Say and you know what he's. Trying he wants a
soft landing for when they're playing. Poorly so you're gonna
just have to deal with that. Man, Unfortunately so when
things are going good and you're not getting all the,
(02:38:57):
love are you gonna complain about that?
Speaker 5 (02:38:59):
Too why are you worried about anybody, else but inside
your locker, room you don't need their.
Speaker 1 (02:39:02):
Validation and, look, man nobody likes it when you're. Losing
it's just the way it goes with. Sports you gotta.
Win we're going to.
Speaker 5 (02:39:08):
Criticize this, works this, is this is this is my
favorite part about. It we're working every day to be
better and this is not helping at. All no one
has any idea what we're going.
Speaker 1 (02:39:15):
THROUGH i know that bad is.
Speaker 5 (02:39:17):
Brutal, yeah, man, yeah you're your billion dollar locker room
and the billion dollar food playing you're on the billion
dollar facilities you.
Speaker 1 (02:39:23):
Have it's a. Listen Oh, god forbid to plead for.
People leave that to pr or somebody. Else to plead
for people to quit being mad at you because you're not.
Winning never. Works you're Playing division one baseball in THE.
Sec knowing has anything we're going. Through shut, Up, well
guess what You're, god he just made it. Worse he
(02:39:44):
just made it. Worse you're flying. Private, yeah you made
it worse because we. Fight when you show up to
we'll Play tennessee or l S. U you think they're
gonna look at that, say oh we got the rabbit
or guy, yeah, no you're in the sec. Bub got
to fix, that, Buddy and that's two years in one.
Mouth when it come to that, stuff use them, accordingly
leave it, alone.
Speaker 5 (02:40:02):
Head over, quiet head over To Soul Ross state and
hop on a charter bus for a nine hour bus.
Speaker 6 (02:40:07):
Ride think them, talk hop on, it hop on these nuts.
Speaker 1 (02:40:11):
Exactly freaking, YEAH i know you want, to. Don't, yeah,
yeah you can't throw that one out, There, candy but
you like. TO i, Would but, YEAH i had the
best thing to do when you're not playing waggie, man,
whoa whoa, MAN i don't make the rules when you're
not playing well the typical that will be the best
thing to, do or probably just shut.
Speaker 5 (02:40:30):
