Four mates from Down Under dive into the world of American Football and beyond. KG Butler, Matt Wiggins, Adam Rowey, and Pete Thompson bring their uniquely Australian perspective to NFL coverage, plus plenty of chat about NRL, AFL, hockey, baseball, soccer, and whatever else catches their eye. Born from casual catch-ups about gridiron, this show delivers fun, informative discussions perfect for Southern Hemisphere sports fans who can't get enough of American Football. Equal parts analysis and banter – because the best sports talk happens between friends.
This week the original Dallas Renegade KG returns and updates us on his chicken watching. The UFL season has begun and has been massively underwhelming and we start tracking who is in the shirt buying seat. Baseball season is underway though the Giants are yet to believe that. We also discuss latest thoughts on Baltimore from the anonymous owners
This week we are joined by Gordy and commentator for the Australian Ice Hockey League. He gives us great insight into how Ice Hockey operates withing Australia and a great breakdown of the season ahead. Pete has technical problems so seems quieter than usual but does drag Gordy into our UFL bet. We enjoy the fun of the WBC and quietly start to look forward to the next baseball season
Its the official start of the new NFL year. KG is off watching some chickens and will fill us all in when he returns. Pete and Matt work through the frenetic start to free agency, admiring the teams that are doing something, and hoping that both their teams are quiet achievers. Pete declares the Royals will win the World Baseball Classic and we decline to kick Spurs when they are down
This week it the OG's again, we look at some of the big trades that have already happened prior to the new league year starting. Matt fails to recognise a Taylor Swift joke and we discuss just how poor Tottenham are and even Siri chimes in.
This week we are joined by a special guest who demonstrates he knows way more about College football than any of us will ever know. We dig into the latest mock draft and look forward to the Combine.
Winter Olympics is over and normal service can resume in the NHL. The WBC is not one week away and those pesky insurance companies are still not playing ball. and we drag our guest into our UFL bet.
In this weeks show we discuss, the Seahawks sale, and the timing of it, and the latest going on with the Bears stadium and ask Matt can he really support the Gary Bears. We agree to fill our NFL void with the upcoming UFL and pick team to support as well as strike a bet. On a serious not we discuss the state of refereeing across all sports and try and work out why the Winter Olympics is a must watch event.
The season finally ends with a whimper as we discuss how easy it was for the Seahawks. KG is back in the medical tent as Pete and Matt marvel over the stats and how Bad Bunny was the second best rusher in the game. Matt does an excellent job as the roving reporter, and we get some excellent comments from our guests. We lament the sacking in the premier league and start to look forward to the baseball season
KG returns to the pod to find that nothings changed. We preview the Super Bowl and mostly talk about the Seahawks. Matt and KG are astounded by Peter's knowledge on Bad Bunny's wrestling career and we announce where we will be watching the Super Bowl. Baseball season is nearly here and Peter comes up with yet another quiz question for Matt.
We review the conference championships and predict a bird will win the Superbowl. Chris joins us again and we start to feel sorry for him for being a Bills fan. We laugh at the Pro-bowl selection, and question what its doing in an events hall. Baseball season is just around the corner, and the Giants have awoken. Matt has been to a game and presents some top class commentary at the bottom of the ninth. Also a couple of quick quiz q...
We meet a real life Bills fan who comes and talks to us about the Bills play off loss. Matt comments on the Ice Man melting and finally delivers on a metaphor. The coaching carousel continues to spin and we start to delve deeper into the world of Baseball preparing for summer. We also get a long awaited update on the Ice Hockey Venue for the Winter Olympics
Pete and Matt return to talk play offs, the coaches merry-go-round, and Matt attempts another metaphor and falls flat again. Pete has a heart jump when Matt hints that MLF is leavinf Green Bay only to breathe again when Matt means the Stealers. Matt gets smug about his baseball team doing something, and the seeds are set for the Mostly Football pod to talk more baseball and hockey. Also Pete needs to work on his editing skills :)
This week Pete and Matt continue to hold the fort. Pete quizzes Matt and he nearly passes, but then lets himself down by confusing the SF Giants with the 49ers and forgetting that Myles Garrett plays for Cleveland. We look forward to the playoffs, and discuss the perils of being a top flight manager, coach in any sport. Shadeur corner has been packed away and Matt brings us a tale of the Olympic Ice Hockey
Matt and Pete hold the fort whilst KG reports live from the Texan vs Chargers game, we return for a penultimate visit to Shadeur corner and contemplate his future. We bemoan injuries and their impacts to play off chances, and Pete talks about how much he wants to slap Ben Johnson in the face. Matt talks more than eloquently about his beloved Aston Villa and we wish everyone a Happy New Year
This week on the podcast we discuss why we have not been discussing Jacksonville, and blame it on the Chiefs. We are very polite to each other as we discuss the second game between the Packers and the Bears, and also lament the end of Dallas's playoff hopes. Matt tries a metaphor about doors and fails miserably, Pete laughs at the Lions and KG heads off into the sunset to go and watch the Texans.
Another week done, and with a couple of exceptions, the playoff picture is still very vague. Yeah mate, nah mate returns where we debate the Bills. All 3 of us talk about the Bears v. Packers game of the week in a well-measured discussion. We jump aboard the Shadeur bandwagon, with two of us eating some humble pie, and round things off with the world's shortest NFL origin story.
Week 13 is in the books. It started so well and ended so badly for Dallas. KG starts with hope and then goes missing during the episode, much like the Dallas defence. Matt finally admits the Bears are contenders, and also debuts a new segment - Yeah mate, Nah mate. Pete works through the Packers' chances and takes us on a trip to Sahdeur corner. We briefly remember Indianapolis and discuss the Broncos and Patriots as contender...
Coming up in this episode, Matt finally gets optimistic about the Bears, KG almost starts believing in Dallas, and Pete feels ambivalent about the Packers. We talk about the debut of Shedeur Sanders and the help he got from his coach. We tip the Thanksgiving games, and Matt and KG learn a little more about Pete's dislike for the Lions.
The hosts, Matt, Pete, and KG, break down last week's NFL action, including the Broncos' win over the Chiefs that may signal the end of Kansas City's dominance. They touch on a spade of defensive masterclasses and debate whether Caleb Williams can lead his team to playoff success. They also discuss the Raiders' struggles, the Rams, Eagles and 49ers' impressive run, and make their picks for the upcoming slat...
In this episode, Matt and Pete hold down the fort while the rest of the crew is out, diving deep into a surprisingly sluggish couple of weeks across the league. They break down a string of low-quality, low-scoring games, not defensive masterclasses, just teams out of rhythm. The pair dig into whether the Packers and Bills are truly contenders, and Pete pushes Matt on his growing belief that Chicago might actually be for real. With ...
In this episode, Matt, Pete, Rowey and KG discuss the unexpected performances and standings. They delve into the emergence of tight ends as key players, analyse quarterback performances, and predict upcoming matchups. The conversation also touches on Jonathan Taylor's impressive stats, trade talks, and the Dallas Cowboys' future.
