A Miami Hurricanes Podcast - New shows Thursdays, game recaps on Sundays! #OBB
We open the show with everyone's reaction to the Spring Game, and to no one's surprise everyone was impressed with the play of Cam Ward. The boys are also surprised that the game wasn't as vanilla as we've seen in past years. And everyone has praise for Jacurri Brown as he hits the transfer portal after the game, even though he may have been the best of the backups.
Now that we're all drinking the Kool-Aid, e...
It's Spring Game week so everyone takes a look at what they hope to see from different position groups - as Ro covers QBs and linebackers, Toast talks O-Line and safety, and Scoop wants to see the running backs and corners. Plus we try to figure out how a guy like Oregon State's Damien Martinez could fit in with the current RB room. And we're anxious to see Emory and Jacurri legitimately compete for the backup ro...
Lots of talk from Spring practice as Scoop dove into the Mario press conference, with some observations on the battle for QB2 and the improvement in the tight end usage. And as the portal opens we are curious if we're going to see a QB transfer out if they are too low on the depth chart, and we still think Miami will go hunting again for a splash wide receiver and maybe now a running back.
Roman also thinks Shannon Dawson...
We open this week with talk of booze, and Dan Radakovich's comments about UM loving the ACC, which had the fan base divided this week. And with all this talk of conference realignment has the OBBs in agreement that staying in the ACC is a very smart move for Miami. And Scoop has a few offensive players from Spring practice
Plus the "Wheel of Topics" is on full tilt this week, with so many great stories to talk about...
All the boys are cooked after a crazy week, and somehow Toast managed to piss off a whole new group of college basketball fans when he disputed if Caitlyn Clark was really the GOAT of women's basketball. And we take a rare trip to Greentree during the off season as we reflect on Henry Parrish leaving the U, as we now have to take a good look at the running back room.
We also throw a little love to Kam Kinchens after he showe...
We open the show with Scoop back in the house, and Toast has to immediately address the Twitter feud that erupted this week between him and some Canes fans over the state of the basketball program. It's another epic Toast rant and he shuts down the narrative about him being a "casual" fan. And Scoop jokes about being on vacation last week while Toast set the world on fire.
There are also major props to the UM AAU hoc...
With Spring practice upon us, we're joined by David Lake from 24/7 Sports to talk all things Canes as the guys start to hit the field. David is already drinking the Cam Ward Kool-Aid even though they're not in pads yet, he's just excited with the things he's seeing early on. We're even seeing some pop already at wide receiver as we open things up, and everyone remains positive on the involvement of the tight end...
So how many signing days do we need? We open the show just overloaded with great topics this week, and start off with trying to figure out why we'd need another signing day when one of the two we already have is all but meaningless. But by moving up signing windows, we wonder how long until HS players begin to opt out for signing early.
And the wheel of topics takes over as we bounce around from Pete Weber, to Kenyon Martin,...
Basketball and BBQ start the show this week, as we get into the Canes poor performance on the court and Ro's trip to Kansas City. Toast experimented with the show Scoop recommended, Naked Attraction, and decided to torture the rest of the show with it.
We also fall quickly back into college football as NCAA '25 starts to include more school songs and traditions, now that NIL runs the football world. And we try to figure...
We are barely into the offseason and we're already getting early season rankings that have the Canes anywhere from 12 to 25 - even though we continue to end the season unranked. Even Cam is getting some Heisman buzz before he's even taken a snap in a Miami uniform.
Plus we had some shots fired on Twitter this week between Mario and Brett Bielima, where Mario had a mic drop response after Bielema tried to throw some shade...
As a prime example of how NIL and the portal have rendered Signing Day meaningless, we completely forgot it was upon us when it used to be a national holiday for the OBB's. Scoop also wants to know what's preventing college football from pulling the plug on NIL because of how much it's changed/ruined college football.
While collective bargaining appears to be the best way to a workable solution, we are starting to se...
Miami now officially has three 5-star recruits as we roll into the off season, an accomplishment that Toast and Ro are proud of, but still have fears about Mario utilizing them on the field. And Roman wants to know what the common denominator is that keeps big-name game-changing coaches from wanting in on the Miami program.
We're all impressed at how drastically the quarterback room has evolved considering the state of the g...
We open the show this week by reflecting on Jacurri's podcast appearance this week, where he allegedly explained why he did not suit up this past season and why he chose to clarify things he said even before they hit the media cycle. And with Jim Harbough leaving Michigan for the Los Angeles Chargers, Ro wants to know who will take the bigger step back - Michigan or Alabama?
We get another hilarious check-in from IP Daily, w...
We open chapter 105 of the Mario era with some laughs about Alabama fans having to suffer the week in "Gen Pop", and Scoop says they are Alabama "trust fund fans" because they've never known losing... and we joke that it was the same as being a Canes fan 20 years ago! And we announce that our Discord chat is now open and free for all Canes fans!
There are also plenty of rumors about staffing rumors within the...
It's a special reaction show now that the Canes have added Cam Ward to the quarterback room!! A change of grade for Toast, bringing the portal grade up to an A+ after getting the most sought after QB out there. And everyone is now feeling much better about the depth in the QB room.
And while everyone is extremely excited, there is still some caution about how this translates on the field come September. Plus this addition to...
We open the show by welcoming "Poff Daddy" to the fold and UM, which launches into a conversation about Tua's brother also interested in Miami. Scoop wants to ride with Jacurri as Toast argues that Poffenbarger and Tua's little brother Taulia Tagovailoa would likely beat him out for the starting job.But everyone thinks the competition between Poffenbarger and Jacurri will be interesting.
We also get a visit from ...
We open the show with a lot of respect and props to Jacurri Brown for sticking around to compete for the UM starting job! And the guys debate who they believe would be best in the starting role, Emory or Jacurri, and everyone has a different approach to their answer. So are these the two guys we're rolling with, or is a portal QB competitor still in the cards?
Plus it wouldn't be an episode of the Orange Bowl Boys if we ...
The Canes LOST the Pinstripe Bowl to Rutgers 31-24, and the boys break down everything that rolled into this loss, the first to Rutgers in the history of the program. And of course everyone is getting sick of the "gameday mismanagement" conversation that constantly surrounds the coaching staff.
Roman is specifically frustrated by the undisciplined conduct of the players as the Canes continue to cost themselves costly ya...
After a HUGE signing day with the Canes, the guys are psyched to see the promise of Mario's recruiting pay off in a big way. Especially with the Canes coming in with the #3 class in the nation as of this taping. Plus Roman asks which was the better recruiting job by the Canes - last year's offensive line or this year's defensive line?
When breaking down the way he's put this class together, Ro and Scoop anoint Ma...
We all get a chance to reflect on 100 episodes of the Mario Cristobal era at UM, and overall how we all grade Mario after 100 weeks at the helm. And for a large tear-down job that had to happen, we remain optimistic about the long-term health of the program.
The guys also discuss TVD landing at Wisconsin, and the QB1's that have been visiting Miami and who we think we'll land in the portal. And how hard it is to keep the...
