Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wake up.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
It gets my day going. It makes me laugh.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
I of it. Mac and Schmitty in the morning on
Star one oh five point seven Morning Smitty, Good morning.
Welcome into your Thursday, also affectionately known as well.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
I heard Friday Junior yesterday, So we're gonna switch it
up today because we're having a lot of fun, you guys,
because I gotta get to it if you're waking up
and you're seeing a few flakes because north of Grand Rapids,
I did drive in with some rain that was a
little bit more frozen than I would have liked to
have admitted. Summer's coming because at eight forty five this morning,
we are going to hear the Frederick Meyer Gardens Summer

(00:41):
Concerts series line up. I know a bunch of our
reporters are already out at the gardens for the big
announcement this morning. But when I posted this to my
pages yesterday, I just said, summer is coming, friends, so
hold on to that.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
If you were staycationing all week.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
You're looking at everybody's pictures from Florida and Punta Kana,
and for some reason, when everyone went to Jamaica, Summer's.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Please music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
It's the celebrities goop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Bit of an interesting turn in the Justin Baldoni Blake
Lively lawsuit over the movie It Ends with Us, Disgraced
director and former producer Harvey Weinstein is now getting into
the legal battle, at least verbally. He's blasting The New
York Times for allegedly doing the same thing to him
that the paper of record did to Baldoni. There you go,

(01:32):
the producer issuing a scathing statement about the Times role
in the bitter legal fight between Justin and Blake, and
he said, listen, it was not fair for you to
cherry pick details and alter key communications to deliberately mislead readers.
How perfect, That's exactly what Weinstein says the Times did
to him when journalists reported on allegations of harassment and

(01:54):
assault by numerous accusers who came forward during that me
too movement. Now, windste had nothing to do with the
production of It Ends with Us, neither did his company,
which of course he had to step down from, but
just wanted to take the chance to accuse The Times
of manipulating communications and ignoring serious evidence. As for the Times,

(02:15):
a spokesperson came out yesterday seeing our comprehensive investigation into
the allegations of sexual harassment and abuse against mister Weinstein
was rigorously reported over many months and based on the
record interviews, legal statements paid to accusers, and lots of
other documents. None of the facts in our coverage are
in dispute. Mister Weinstein acknowledged his misconduct that was published

(02:38):
in full in The Times, and of course has since
been criminally convicted, which also sounds very much like The
Times being like, we got to protect ourselves too, because remember,
they still have millions and millions and millions of dollars
in lawsuits that Justin Baldoni has filed against.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Them, and I have a feeling Justin Baldoni was even like, hey, Harvey, eaton.
I appreciate being he's not saying.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
No, no, no's that thing over, but come on, we don't
do that be a marketing guy. Travis Kelcey setting the
record straight after a viral report claiming he made a
massive three million dollar donation to combat homelessness in Kansas City,
he did not a lot of people were a little
surprised that you would come out and be like no, no, no,
that wasn't me being charitable. But I think the problem

(03:22):
here is he's concerned that if stuff like this starts
to spread, people aren't going to realize what he's actually
trying to do philanthropically. So, of course, a new episode
of the New Heights podcast dropped yesterday where he gave
fans a heads up.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Some false claims were thrown out there that I was
doing something in the community that I was not, and
I'm not even going to talk about it specifically. I
don't want to bring any more attention to that whole
nonsense and article and all that stuff. But if you
ever want to know exactly what I'm doing in the community,
just go to eighty seven running dot org. We're always
trying to get out there and getting the Kansas City

(03:58):
communities in the Cleveland community. But you know, this time,
I wasn't doing what was falsely claimed by the social
channels or the outlets posting all this AI stuff. So
just wanted to set the record straight. Appreciate everybody.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yeah, Pat McAfee even talked about him on his show yesterday,
giving him all of this praise. This organization wrote that
Travis was offering housing mentorship, educational resources, and he's like, you, guys,
this is just untrue. But I do a lot of
things and I would love your help with them, So
just head to the website.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Do you feel like when you're as wealthy and as
noteworthy as Travis Kelsey and a story like this happens,
that there's some party that's like, gosh, man, now I
feel like I should probably give three million dollars to
the homeless community.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
I think you just get nervous about anything that comes
from this, Like, let's say something happens at a housing development,
suddenly are getting sued. Maybe that's just me like living
in America and being very dated. Will your Netflix subscription increase?
This is a fascinating story. Even though this is based
in the United Kingdom, this could affect us here in America.

(05:05):
So the streamer is pulling no punches. In a response
to lawmakers in the UK that want to levy a
five percent streaming text, this is the CMSC, the Culture,
Media and Sport Committee. They recommended imposing a five percent
levee on UK streamers subscriber revenue, urging the government to

(05:26):
step in and make this statutory. If the industry doesn't
act within one year, so that cost would be passed
on to consumers. But there's a lot here in Netflix,
says Listen, we actually do a lot of production work overseas,
especially in the UK. It's our biggest production hub outside
of North America. We want it to stay that way.
But make no mistake, we're making very transparent. If this happens,

(05:49):
we will pass that on to consumers, and if it's
enough of it, it's going to everybody.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
I mean, Netflix is going to be more expensive than
your phone. I feel like it like three years.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Here and I still feel like it's the cheapest streamer
you think. So it's the only one we had that
we don't have ads supported yet Disney Paramount. Everything else
is in the like seventeen to twenty two ninety nine
a month.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
I just cannot pay that. All of your celeb scoop,
including what.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Other things could be affected with Netflix West Michigan Star
dot com.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Sometimes does I get a good feeling, let's guess you
feeling good on starting on fine points? See it. It's
Mack and Schmid, he hanging with you this morning. And
as anybody who gives lotto tickets for Christmas as stocking
stuffers or for gifts. This story is for you, all right,
because a Marilyn mom asked her sweet son to come

(06:41):
over to move furniture and all, isn't that a fun
call that you love getting from your parents? Come over
and help me do chores. Well, this loyal son went
over there, and lucky he did, because he was moving
his mom's furniture around and located five scratch off lotto
tickets that his mom had purchased to give to him
as well as the other adult kids that she's got

(07:04):
for Christmas in stocking stuffers. While the sun asked if
he could scratch them all since it's been several months,
his mom said, yeah, as long as we split any winnings. Well,
out of the five tickets, three of them had small wins,
but one of them turned out to have the top
prize fifty thousand dollars prize on a scratch off ticket.
The man's wife saying did that really just happen? After

(07:27):
finding the big win, they immediately called the mom to
confirm it wasn't a prank. Worried that she had set
them all up, they went to the Marilyd Lottery headquarters
together and where you can put the team name. If
you're splitting lotto, they just wrote, will split it. The
Sun's going to give his half of the winnings, or
he's going to use his half of the winnings for
a house and to repay his mom some money. And

(07:48):
he said she's going to actually wind up with more,
but hers going to go to their grandchildren.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
So pretty cool, nice, all right.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
So yesterday the Cubs may have lost to the Texas Rangers,
but love one. Did you see a viral moment of
a couple sitting right behind home plate at Wrigley Field
realizing that they might possibly have made it on television.
That's when they decided to get very romantic with a
hot dog. No, no, this isn't R rated or anything,

(08:14):
very lady and the Tramp style.

Speaker 6 (08:17):
They knew they were on TV and come over here.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
They're kind of going lady in the tramp on.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
Yeah, that's right, And then they find out that everybody's
seen them on TV. Hey, we're blowing up.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Look at that.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
It's actually really cute this hot dog.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Then give a kiss, and then they pan back over
a few minutes later and you can see them on
their phones as everyone is like, you're literally on TV
SportsCenter picked this up. Barstool picked this up. You guys
are incredible. So you know what, even though it's a
Cubs loss, I've got the video for you West Michigan
Star dot Com.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
I'll be honest with you. I feel like Lady in
the tramping a hot dog is worse than doing it
with spaghetti.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
It's you never remember Wriglaby.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
The hot dogs are art spaghetti length. I'll take that
feel like good, covin at you a couple times a day.
We'll do it again for you this morning at nine.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Movies, Music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
It's the Celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
This is a really wild story. The wife of Weezer
band member Scott Schreiner shocked by cops during a wild
chase in La So. Here's the deal. California Highway Patrol
and LAPD responded to a hid and run back on
Tuesday afternoon on a freeway that winds its way through
the Eagle Rock neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Of La So.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Three suspects fled the scene on foot while left the
vehicle and climbed over a freeway embankment and then ended
up on a residential street. He stripped off clothing trying
to blend into the neighborhood, but cops found him. They
were securing the area when officers went into the backyard
of a house where the suspect had fled. Scott's wife,
Jillian Lauren, emerged from the couple's house next door a

(09:57):
gun in hand. Now I'm still not sure sure. There's
no confirmed reports on whether she fired or not. Officers
yelled at her to drop the weapon, but cops are
saying she ignored multiple commands and LPD pointed at her.
She pointed her weapon back at them, They fired, striking
her shoulder.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
That's when she ran back into the house.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Minutes later, Lauren and her babysitter came out of the
house with their hands up and surrendered to cops. Law
enforcement says Lauren was taken to a hospital and treated
for a non life threatening gunshot wound, but was later
booked for attempted murderer. LPD say they recovered a nine
milimeter handgun at the residence. That original suspect, by the way,

(10:37):
was apprehended, but two others are still on the loose.
So this is pretty insane, especially considering when we serre
supposed to perform at.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Coachella this weekend.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
That is insane all the way around it. She is
extremely lucky. She's not dead, yes, and on top of it,
she wasn't in any trouble right until the suspect.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
They over in the backyard in the backyard next door
wasn't even her her house, it is the backyard next door.
So we will definitely be hearing more about this and
I will keep you updated on it. Ed Sharon says,
I'm sorry, he just can never picture himself performing the
Super Bowl halftime show.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
We've seen some huge names including.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Rihanna, Madonna, Ga Guy, even Beyondcey, who he brings up.
But on the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast,
he said, it's just not for him unless certain things lined.

Speaker 7 (11:29):
Up to go on with someone, and that would be
the only way that I would do it. If it
was Beyonce show and she had all the kind of
bells and whistles and then there was a moment where
we sung perfect together. That makes sense to me, But me,
I don't know. I can't picture myself doing it.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
I mean to be fair.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
He does point out the fact that he is more
of an acoustic guy, and he just doesn't think that
would necessarily headline a super Bowl show, super.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
Bowl fireworks, dunces, blah blah blah.

Speaker 7 (11:55):
But me going up there and being like, here's the
A team and here's perfect, I just like know wants.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
To say that.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I mean, it is kind of I can't imagine hearing
like perfect for a super Bowl halftime.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Yeah, I mean, you just got out beat stuff. But
he's not wrong. You'd want to have a bunch of collaborators.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Auzzi's I'm on the other hand, his latest that one
I think would kill on a super Bowl halftime show.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
All Right.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Finally, Sabrina Carpenter fans, we'll say have taken some inspiration
from her tour theatrics, putting her in a new Fortnite
skin in some positions that have parents less than thrilled.
So the singer is now a Fortnite Festival game icon.
I don't play Fortnite, so I'm not totally sure about this,

(12:36):
but her character is picking up where her live performances
tend to leave off, So I'm trying to keep this
as pg as possible. If you've ever seen Sabrina Carpenter's tours.
You know that there are certain moments when she sings
certain songs, where she does certain things that maybe would
be deemed inappropriate for younger kids.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Oh certain are well.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
There are a lot of videos that are popping up
online showing what some gamers are having her due clips
set to have you tried this one?

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Have you done this one? Have you done this?

Speaker 3 (13:05):
And re enacting some really intense stuff. It's gotten very controversial.
A lot of parents are saying, listen, this is completely inappropriate.
At least set like an age range for this. We
don't know how to keep our kids safe from this.
A lot of parents just saying we're done with Fortnite.
If you can't continue to keep this like fraighted for
my child.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Leave it to a bunch of teenage boys to turn
video games into pervs real quick.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
It's wow, all right, all of your celebt scoop at
West Michigan start atomic.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
It's Mack and Schmitty, and you know you just brought
up wrapping up spring break strong SCHMITTI and I feel
like my kids and I have done everything this week
and they're still just bored.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
You hear that B word?

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Man?

Speaker 3 (13:42):
And I know we've been talking with Miranda with her
spring Break guide, which has some incredible, incredible opportunities to
hang with your kids. But I wanted to point this out.
And speaking of Miranda, she knows them well. Wedgwood Christian
Services has dropped this amazing list of ways to spend
quality time act ually connecting with your child and it

(14:02):
doesn't mean you have to spend money. I thought this
would be a great thing to bring up because we're
nearing the end of spring break, but you still got
four days left to fill. And they come up with
some great ideas, and the number one thing is to
limit or cut off access with electronics completely, no TV,
no tablet, no phones. Talking about us two parents, that

(14:23):
can be really, really challenging. But they come up with
ideas like taking your kids to the playground, but you
also playing right Like I'm guilty of this. I'll sit
on a park bench and be like, yep, you guys,
go play Ninja on the slide.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
I'm going to catch up with some of the work
that I've got to do.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
You are going down that twirldly slide too. Trust me
that you're gonna think you're the coolest playing a board
game is another good one. Learning a board game together.
They even talk about something as simple as walking the mall,
which I've actually started to do with my daughter. We
don't buy anything. We don't you know, really go into stores.
We just take a walk and point it really fun
stuff and talk about things you might want to do again.

(15:00):
And I'm telling you, whoever said like if your kids
are having a problem at water or ad nature is
absolutely right. It gets some energy out for her. We
get to have really fun conversations. Wedgwood has just said,
this is a really great time because with kids' routine
shaken up so weirdly, right they're not getting up at
six point thirty and then having breakfast and hitting the bus,
they can get really, really, you know, kind of out

(15:23):
of sorts. We all do very discombobulated when I don't
have my schedule set and it's an awesome opportunity to
fix that and get really close as a family. Reading
a book is on the list. I will tell you
We've started doing this about a month and a half ago.
It's the same time every night, it's seven oh five.
The kids know the numbers on the clock. We go
through chapter books, we read two to three chapters. We've

(15:44):
read through Charlotte's Web. We've read because of When Dixie.
We're in Ninjago now, because my son has started bringing
library books home. It's just a really cool way and
it helps both of you, like that's what they're saying
with this list, or like it actually enriches both of
your minds. It brings you both together, and it's a
great opportunity if maybe you do get out of work
a little early and you have the chance to just

(16:04):
spend time with your kids.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
I love that, you know, and I love getting off
the screen because it makes us feel like less of
a hypocrite some of the rest of the time, right
where I don't have to say to my kids, go outside,
go do anything except in front of a screen, where
they're like, well, you've got your phone.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
And then you're going outside too, right, You get your
boots on, you get your coat on.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
It's a great list. I'm gonna put it up for
you at West Michigan Star.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
Dot com movies, music and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
It's the celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Well, you know we've seen in the past that justin
Bieber is less than impressed with being followed around by Paparanzi,
and that was on full display yesterday, the singer actually
snapping on photographers is he had and some friends hit
up a coffee shop in Palm Springs, one photographer saying hey,
good morning as they were catching him and his friends

(16:53):
walking up.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Not excited for beebes morning. No, not Marty Arty, No.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
So why you care about money?

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Why you care about guys?

Speaker 7 (17:03):
Love your goals?

Speaker 6 (17:04):
Money?

Speaker 1 (17:05):
You don't care about people, only money, only money? You
know people, you don't care about human beings.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Got got Yeah. That went on for like more than
thirty seconds with him just chastising these guys. He has
been posting on social lately about working on anger issues
and his mental health, but was in no mood obviously
to have this kind of publicity, which will be interesting
because I do believe he's focused or heading to Coachella
this weekend. Not sure if Haley will be with him,

(17:33):
but I would expect to see him real incognito as
he is just trying to surround himself with good people.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
I mean, if he can come out of it without
some negative pr about him doing something that fans are
concerned about it to be a win because I feel
like we haven't gone a week without that in a while.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
Detroit Lions star wide receiver I'm in Ross Saint Brown
admitted he was less than impressed originally about having to
go to Detroit. He is on Kevin Hartson episode of
a popular YouTube series where Kevin actually interviews guests while
sitting in ice baths, and Saint Brown did get very

(18:08):
honest about his initial reaction to being drafted by the
Lions back in twenty twenty one.

Speaker 7 (18:13):
I was too excited, obviously to be drafted to be
going to Detroit. No, I was not.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
I was gonna say that's not now.

Speaker 7 (18:20):
Of course you love the city.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
I love the city, but at the time I was like, yeah,
I'm going to Detroit.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Yeah, it's tough, there's no shot, brod.

Speaker 6 (18:28):
I'm out.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
I love Detroit and you gotta learn Detroit to love Detroit.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Well, he did say, you know, now he is really
loving this and he's gotten, you know, much better in
the star treatment and playtime that he was looking for,
but definitely was not sure.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
At the beginning.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Can't blame him for that. If you're not familiar with
it all you do is hear the outside noise, And
for a long time that wasn't good.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
All right, Finally, Lebron James, the NBA All Star, has
signed a new deal with Barbie.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
That's right, the Laker was.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
He just announced as the first Kenbassador for the massively
popular doll franchise, getting a nod for his influence on culture,
style and community. This Lebron doll is insanely detailed. It
features the four time NBA Champs signature facial hair, a
custom Letterman jacket, cross body bag.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Shades, Beats headphones.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Yeah, they've got quite a few pieces of marketing here,
a gold watch and merch for his Lebron James Family Foundation.
He even has on a pair of his own signature Nikes.
That's a part of this Barbie doll. Mattel gave him
a very specific hat. This is a really big deal.
They say that Lebron and his foundation have rolled up

(19:44):
their sleeves to create real generational change, exemplifying what it
means to be a true MVP. So, if this is
something you're interested in, save your money because the dolls
are going to be available for seventy five bucks in
stores and online.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
So This is going to be a.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Very big deal. I mean, what a price tag. Honestly,
I mean that's just fun. But the best part about
it was still calling them Kenbassadors.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Oh yeah for me, sure love that? All right, all
of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Com having a fine point sevenence Mack and Schmidy's battle
time to do. This Battle of the sex is looking
to land you at our Grand Rapids Rise Professional Women's
volleyball game coming up next Saturday.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Yeah, and this is a big one. Guys.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
You've only got a couple of home matches left if
you haven't gotten the chance to experience our Rise yet.
This is going to be so fun. It's a noon
match with Bluie and Bengo there as well. Your Battle
of the Sexes question. One hundred men surveyed. Name something
with feathers that doesn't fly? O, My seven year old would.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
Be so good at this.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
I've got I'm gonna go outside of the box, pillows, bogie.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
I'm just all right.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Six one, six, four, five, eight, one oh five seven
callers seven one hundred men surveyed, Name something with feathers
does fly?

Speaker 2 (21:01):
And we've got Grand rapids rise tickets for you. Good
morning star.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Who's this Jessica, Jessica, where you come from today? All right, Jessica,
I got to tell me. One hundred guys were asked
to name something that's got feathers but can't fly. What
do you think The top answer is penguin?

Speaker 2 (21:18):
A penguin.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
Yeah, penguins were on there, but they were the number
five most common answer. I'm sorry, Okay, thank you.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Thank you, Hi star.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
Who's this?

Speaker 6 (21:28):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (21:29):
This is Anna from spring Lake. I just got a
great guest from Jessica. When one hundred guys were asked
to name something that has feathers but can't fly, she
gave us the number five most common answer, which was penguins. Yeah,
bird that can't fly, But that was again the number
five most common answer. So what do you think the
top one is?

Speaker 6 (21:47):
I'm gonna say Ostrich.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
You're going with Ostrich. I believe ostriches are also like
the fastest birds on two legs and can run over
twenty miles per hour. All of my children's animal fact
books are coming back to me now. But the one
that actually matters most to you is that that was
the top answer.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Ostrich's number one. Congratulations, thank you.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
Yeah, you're going to our Grand Rapids Rise having blue
Ey Day next Saturday over there at Van Andelerina. Yes,
it should be a lot of fun and we'll do
it again tomorrow. Battle of the Sex is your chance
to win eight to fifteen Here on Star one on
five point seven Dominal five points seven. It's Mack and Schmidti.
It's not just a good morning, it's a great morning

(22:31):
for music lovers in West Michigan. Schmitti. Because one of
our favorite series is back.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Now I'm saying it's a summer morning. That is the
vibe we.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Are giving with our Frederick Meyer Gardens Summer Concerts series.
The lineup is officially here, joining US Live. Director of
Communications John van Derhagen, Congratulations, it is another massive summer
for the Gardens.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
Yeah, thank you very much, it really is. This is
our biggest lineup yet, the twenty twenty five fifth Third
Bank Summer Concerts that Myer Gardens will have thirty four shows.
So in celebration of our thirtieth anniversary as an organization overall,
we're really thrilled to be able to finally unveil this
lineup here this morning.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
So Friday May thirtieth, our first show, right, Yeah, the.

Speaker 6 (23:13):
Head and the Heart will kick us off late May,
and then we run all the way through mid September
when we close with Rylo Kylie. So lots of great
shows in between, but really looking forward to that kicking
things off here. It seems like a lifetime away, but
just in a few short months.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
I mean, I'm seeing some of our favorites that we've
seen come in the past, like Oaar is going to
be back here, Train is making their way back again
this year. But how about some of our eighties favorites
we see Cheap Trick, Rick Springfield and more on this lineup.
I mean, you guys got a little bit of everything here, John.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
Yeah, And that's really a goal together this series. You know,
we want to bring back the familiar favorites that people
love that sell out right away, like the Oars, like
Trombone Shorty lya love it, but then mix things up,
whether that's with new bands who have never played here before,
or new combinations of acts where somebody might have played,
but we're bringing them along with a co headliner. So yeah,

(24:05):
I'm glad you see that and appreciate that. We are
really looking to have a wide variety of acts and
of types of music in this lineup.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
I mean you do the psychedelic first, to the revivalists,
We've got some local love with the verve pipe. I
think I'm the one to always ask you this, John,
and I put you on the spot every year. Do
you have a favorite, because honestly, I've heard a ton
of people excited about vance Joy.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
Yeah. No, that's a tough question. I'm most excited just
to see new music that i haven't seen live before,
so obviously vance Joy that's a great one. I'm a
big fan of Guster, but I've never seen them with
the Symphony. I've loved the verve Pipe since I was
in high school and saw them in ease Lancing on
a street party. So I'm just excited to see some
new things and some familiar favorites as well.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Well. All of West Michigan gets so excited for these shows. John,
So tell us what's all that we need to know
when it comes to getting our tickets? What are the
important dates?

Speaker 6 (25:01):
Yeah, definitely. So members of Meyergardens have the first opportunity
to buy tickets during the member of pre sale, so
that kicks off on Saturday April nineteenth at nine am
via AXS dot com. So make sure that you either
purchase a membership or renew your membership by April fifteenth
to be eligible for the fifth third Bank Summer pre

(25:22):
Sale this year, and then any tickets not sold to
our members become available to the general public on Saturday,
April twenty sixth, also at nine am via AXS dot com.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
And I'm telling you Meyergardens dot org for that membership,
not just for the incredible summer shows, but your family
is going to love this spot the entire year. Once again,
congratulations John, to you and the team. This is fantastic.

Speaker 6 (25:47):
Yeah, thank you very much. We're looking forward to another
great summer here us.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
Too, John, and thank you so much for joining us
and letting us be a partner with the Summer Concerts
series again this year. Because of that, well we get
our hands on some tickets Schmidty, and I know this
is one of our eighties artists that we love feature
in every Noon Hour.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
How about Shaka Khan. She's coming to this stage. This
is going to be amazing.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
If you would like to see Shaka Khan live part
of the incredible Summer Concert series. Give us a call
right now six one six, four five eight, one oh
five seven. She's one of those first shows coming up
June fourth. Shaka Khan going to caller seven, four five eight,
one oh five to seven. We are so thrilled the

(26:31):
Meyer Garden Summer Concert Series with Star one oh five
point seven.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
S sometime does that get a good feeling?

Speaker 1 (26:42):
All right?

Speaker 3 (26:42):
Well, it is a big night tonight for our Western
Michigan men's hockey team as they head to the Frozen
Four taking on the University of Denver. This is a
big one. The winner tonight heads to that final game.
And before getting the huge send off from all the
students yesterday, they got a very special video from a

(27:04):
couple of Grand Rapids Griffins that just happened to be
Bronco alum.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Hey boys at Hulling Drives.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
Awesome, Frank, if we just want to wish you the.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Best of luck and the Frozen four coming up.

Speaker 8 (27:15):
You're making us all proud and we're definitely proud of
being Bronco alums.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Get it done, Go Broncos.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Yeah, this is really cool.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
By the way, if you feel like maybe road tripping
this evening, a totally free watch party is going to
be held at Lawson Arena as Western Michigan takes on
Denver and that frozen four. If you are hanging at home,
it starts at five o'clock tonight on ESPN two.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
And I'd love to see that. After the Grand Valley
State women's basketball team winning that Division two national championship,
how about Division one hockey? Can we have that huge
and unbelievable all right? Of course, another big sporting event
starts today. The Masters, of course, gets underway there in Augusta, Georgia.
But the put of the tournament might have happened already
because Rory McElroy's four year old daughter Poppy stole the

(27:58):
show yesterday in the Master's Annual Par three contest where
a lot of the golfers have their kids caddy and
around there and it's way more laid back and fun. Well, yesterday,
with the putter and only one hand, young four year
old Poppy McElroy hit this unbelievable twenty five foot putt
and I mean she barely had to touch this thing.

(28:19):
Listen to how long it is from when she hits
the ball until when it goes in. She hits it
right in the beginning here. Check this out.

Speaker 8 (28:27):
Ball's rolling, still going, still going.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
It is the best video.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
This ball goes from a crawl to pick it up
speed and finding the bottom of the cup right with
her dad standing by her side and her big sister.
To mean, this was so cool, Schmitty, such an awesome video.
We got it up at westminstergidstar dot com.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Actually you've got to see the montage.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
So it's every single kid that was at the par
three yesterday and the really cute moments when you follow
the Masters. It's my favorite part of the whole entire tournament.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
I love that, all right, feeling good coming at you
a couple times a day. I always want to bring
you some positivity. We'll do it again tomorrow, six forty
five and nine twenty each weekday here on Star Mack
and Schmidty in the morning weekday starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
