This past weekend, we concluded our discussion of Follow: Invite by reflecting on the topic of age, specifically in the context of Titus. According to scripture, aging is not something to be feared or avoided. Instead, it is a gift that we should celebrate and a virtue that we can use for the advancement of God's kingdom! Regardless of our current age, we have wisdom and experience to share with those who are younger.

During Invite week 3, we read a passage in Luke where Jesus speaks candidly to a crowd. Jesus emphasized that we shouldn't present becoming a disciple of Jesus as an easy task, or try to make a quick sale, because following Him is a serious decision that should not be taken lightly. This is an excellent reminder as we share the Gospel and invite people to follow Jesus.

During our second week of Follow: Invite, Scott shared a message from Luke 8 about our role as followers of Jesus. He reminded us that we have the responsibility and honor to sow the seed of faith in our daily lives. As sowers, we don’t control the response, we can only be obedient to the Lord in our sowing.

This week's sermon had a powerful teaching from Acts about beautiful, spirit-led evangelism. Inviting people along the journey of following Jesus is not just about a quick invite to come to church or intensely seeking to convince someone to become a Christian. Rather, it is a series of obedience to the Holy Spirit, allowing him to do his continual work through you!

What a beautiful teaching we had to wrap up Follow: Connect this past weekend. This passage in Romans reminded us of the great importance and responsibility that we have to each other in the body of Christ. Though we are unique members, we are interdependently connected to serve one another with the wonderful ways that God has gifted us!

As Christians, we understand that building a healthy community requires effort and having challenging conversations with one another. During the past weekend, we learned that it is our responsibility to bring any offenses to light, whether we are the offended or the offender. We believe that by having difficult conversations, we can move closer to the kind of genuine community that God intends for us!

This weekend we were privileged to hear from Pastor Nick Volkening as he brought us a teaching about what it means to to truly be a sacrificial servant of God. Nick reminded us all that to serve others in this powerful way, we must stay connected to the source of our strength which is Christ. By constantly receiving the gospel daily, we can grow into better servants of God!

Over the weekend, we took a look at what it means to “live like sheep”. Michael led us through a passage in Matthew that highlighted the beauty of serving others in the little things, and how important it is to do so. This study reminded us of the value of serving our fellow brothers and sisters every day because when we serve others, we are also serving the Lord.

In week 2 of our Serve study, Pastor Michael shared an inspiring story about Isaiah, who wholeheartedly surrendered his life to God's will. He challenged us to take the same posture as Isaiah and say, "Here I am, send me!" Let's take the time to reflect and discover where in our lives we need to give God our "Yes." Just like in this story, when we surrender to God, He can do amazing things in and throu...
