The Hebrew Scriptures, what Christians call the Old Testament are full of weird and wild stories. When we try to take them too literally, we miss the seriousness of their message and impact. Furthermore, we can't even really gain insight into them without Jesus. Like the disciples on the road after the resurrection, we need Jesus to explain them and show us what the say concerning him!
