Talanoa Ako NCEA Series 2026 – Week 3 Government Education Priorities

In Week 3 of the Talanoa Ako NCEA Series 2026, we break down the Government’s education priorities and what they mean for Pacific learners and families. This episode explores how changes across the education system are shaping student success — from curriculum updates to improvements in literacy, numeracy, and assessment. In this session, we cover: • Government priorities to lift student achievement • A clearer, knowledge-rich national curriculum • Updates to literacy & numeracy approaches • Smarter assessment and reporting • Improved teacher training and learning support • The ongoing NCEA review and new Level 1 standards • What’s changing for Years 0–10 from 2026 We also highlight the Ministry’s focus on attendance, participation, and student progress, and what that means for your child’s learning journey. To ensure our Pacific communities stay informed and connected, the Talanoa Ako series is available in seven Pacific languages — Cook Islands Māori, Fijian, Niuean, Samoan, Tokelauan, Tongan, and Tuvaluan — as well as English. For more information and support, download the Talanoa Ako digital app on the Google Play Store.
