Haus Lights Up: Cue the Revolution!

Haus Lights Up: Cue the Revolution!

Welcome to Haus Lights Up: Cue the Revolution! A podcast for the theater kids that are not excited about this horrible group project we are all having to participate in. We're your hosts Keris and Andrew-- a Black Woman and A Queer white man. We're both proud former theater kids who came of age in the chaos, contradictions, and creativity of the '90s and early 2000s. We grew up on mixtapes and cast albums, CD's and AOL, Hip-hop and House, protest songs and piano concertos… We both learned early on that what we watched, listened to, and created was never just about entertainment—it was always connected to something bigger. In each episode, we'll explore the stories behind the art that shapes us, the music that moves us, and the Intersection of art and activism. Through our different lived experiences and shared love of culture, art, and social justice, we'll dive into everything from Broadway to Beyoncé, Punk Rock to public policy, drag queens to democracy, and the moments where personal expression becomes real social change. Because art doesn't exist in a vacuum. Music is never just music. And ART is always political. So whether you're here for thoughtful conversations, nostalgic deep-dives into our millennial upbringings, sharp social analysis, or a little theatrical chaos, pull up a seat. The curtain is down. The house lights are up. Cue the revolution.

We'll explore how culture shapes us, why artists matter, and how humor, community, and a little righteous outrage help...
