The Midlife Upgrade is for women over 40 who are ready to stop going through the motions and start intentionally building the next version of their lives. Because somewhere in midlife, the questions start changing. How do I want to feel in my body? Who am I now that my kids need me differently? What do I want my relationships to look like? Am I happy with the way I'm spending my time—and my money? What do I want the next 10, 20 or 30 years of my life to look like? And maybe the biggest question: What needs an upgrade? I'm Michelle Bazinet, Midlife Health and Transformation Coach, and my own midlife upgrade started with my health. After gaining weight in my 40s and realizing the old diet-and-exercise strategies I'd relied on for decades weren't working anymore, I started rebuilding the way I took care of myself. That journey eventually became about upgrading what I call my Health Operating System— by taking a practical approach to strength training, muscle, nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, mindset and sustainable habits. But here's what I've learned: When you start changing the way you take care of yourself, you often start looking differently at the rest of your life too. Your relationships. Your finances. Your career. Parenting adult or growing children. Your confidence. Your boundaries. Your time. Your home. Your identity. Your future. That's what The Midlife Upgrade is about. We'll still have real conversations about perimenopause, menopause, weight loss after 40, strength training, building muscle, protein, metabolism, nutrition and creating a healthier lifestyle. But we'll also go beyond health. I'll share what I'm learning, what I'm questioning and what I'm upgrading in my own life—and bring in conversations and experts to help us think differently about the areas of life that matter as we get older. This isn't about blowing up your life and starting over. Actually, it's the opposite. It's about taking an honest look at what's working, what's not, what you want to keep and what you're ready to change. Because an upgrade doesn't mean starting over. It means building on what you've already learned. You don't need to have midlife figured out. Neither do I. But we can keep learning. Keep getting stronger. Keep making intentional choices. Keep collecting evidence. And keep becoming the women we want to be for the decades ahead. We're not done becoming. Welcome to The Midlife Upgrade.
You make a plan on Sunday. You’re ready to work out, eat more protein, walk every day, and get to bed earlier.
Then Thursday happens.
You’re tired. Work runs late. Someone needs a ride. And the plan that looked so good suddenly feels like another thing you’re behind on.
Sound familiar?
In this episode of The Midlife Upgrade Podcast, we’re talking about building a health plan that has room for you...
Last week, I published my 100th podcast episode.
And I almost didn’t celebrate it.
Because instead of thinking, “Wow. I created 100 episodes,” my brain immediately went to:
“It took you FOUR YEARS.”
There were months when I was consistent with this podcast…and months when I completely disappeared.
I started. I stopped. I came back.
More than once.
And for a moment, I saw that as evidenc...
“I’m not a morning person.” “I eat healthy, so why am I gaining weight?” “My best years are behind me.”
A story can feel like a fact when you’ve repeated it for years. In this episode, Michelle shares five stories she once believed about workouts, weight gain, exercise and midlife—and what changed when she looked at the evidence.
You’ll hear how a 5:15 a.m. g...
You already know protein matters. You know you need to move your body. You know strength training is important. You probably know more about weight loss and healthy eating than you give yourself credit for.
So why do you keep finding yourself saying, “I'll start again Monday”?
In this episode of the Midlife Upgrade Podcast, we're talking about why so many women become really good at starting—but neve...
Week 1: down 1.4 pounds.
That's pretty much exactly what I would expect based on the calorie deficit I created.
So, is that proof that it's habits and not hormones?
Not so fast. 😉
Because the most interesting thing that happened this week had nothing to do with the number on the scale.
A few days in, I heard a VERY familiar thought:
"Uuuugh…how long do I have to do this for?"
And there it was.
My old Health Operatin...
I gained a few pounds this summer.
And I have a very convenient explanation: I started taking estradiol at the end of June.
So… hormones?
Maybe.
But I also know I ate more, walked less and paid less attention to my nutrition.
So instead of deciding what caused the weight gain—or panicking and starting another diet—I’m doing something different.
I’m collecting the evidence.
In this episode, I&...
This Is the Upgrade — The Anthem
This isn’t just a song. It’s the anthem for The Midlife Upgrade.
This Is the Upgrade is about that moment when you realize you’re not trying to get back to the woman you used to be.
You’re building forward.
Stronger in your body.
Clearer in your mind.
More intentional about what stays, what goes, and what you want from this next chapter.
Because midlife...
What if midlife isn't about trying to get back to the woman you used to be?
What if it's about discovering who you're becoming next?
Welcome to the first episode of The Midlife Upgrade Podcast.
As I get closer to turning 50, I've been doing what I call my own Midlife Evaluation—looking at what's working, what isn't, what I want more of and where I'm ready for an upgrade.
My own upgrade started with my health.
Getti...

Planning your next meal while you're still eating? Negotiating with yourself about what you should or shouldn't eat? Standing in the pantry even when you're not physically hungry?

In this episode of Midlife Magic, Michelle dives into the concept of food noise: the constant mental chatter around food that can fe...
Michelle Bazinet is challenging one of the biggest myths in the health and fitness industry:
That you need more motivation, more discipline, or a better plan.
The truth? Most women don't need to start over. They need a different operating system.
In this special episode, recorded from my Stop Starting Over workshop, we explore why so many women find themselves stuck in the cycle of starting strong, losing momentum, and...
Your weight can fluctuate day to day — even hour to hour — and that does NOT mean you’re failing.
In this episode, Michelle breaks down why the scale creates so much frustration for women and how to stop attaching your worth to a number. You’ll learn why the scale is simply a tool for gathering information, not a moral report card.
Michelle also explains the many scientific reasons your weight ...
You’re working out.
You’re eating healthy.
And it’s still not working.
If you’ve ever felt frustrated, stuck, or like your body isn’t responding the way it used to… this episode is for you.
In this episode, I break down the real reason so many women feel like nothing is working — and it’s probably not what you think.
It’s not just your age.
It’s not ...
If you feel like you know what to do… but you just can’t keep doing it—this episode is for you.
In today’s episode, I’m breaking down the real reason you keep starting over with your health—and why it’s NOT because you lack discipline, motivation, or willpower.
You’ve been trying to change your habits.
But what actually needs to change… is the system running them.
...
If you’ve been stuck in the start–stop cycle, this episode will help you understand why.
Inside, we break down the 4 systems that drive your health and habits:
When these systems are out of sync, consistency...
Most of us think success in health comes down to more discipline.
But in midlife, discipline without capacity leads straight to burnout.
In this episode of Midlife Magic, Michelle unpacks why you’re not failing because of weak willpower—you’re just running on overload.
You’ll learn how to reframe discipline, rebuild true capacity, and stop white-knuckling your health routines once and fo...
What if the reason you keep starting over…
is the timeline you’re choosing?
In this episode, Michelle breaks down the hidden flaw in the “30-day mindset” and why short-term intensity keeps women stuck in the start–stop cycle.
If you’ve ever gone all in, seen results, and then watched them slowly disappear — this conversation will hit home.
You’ll learn:
If you’ve ever said:
“I’ll start Monday.”
“I’ll reset next month.”
“I’ll get serious after this trip.”
This episode is for you.
In this conversation, I break down why you don’t actually have a motivation problem — you have a pattern.
We’ll unpack:
• The all-or-nothing trap
• The Monday reset cycle

Most women aren’t failing at their health goals — they’re just operating with incomplete (and often misleading) information.
In this episode, I break down five common mistakes I see over and over again on women’s health and fitness journeys — especially in midlife. Not from a place of blame, but from context.
We talk about:
We’ve been taught that health should happen fast — fast results, fast changes, fast proof that we’re “doing it right.”
But what if the reason your progress feels slower in midlife isn’t because you’re failing…
What if it’s because you’re finally building something that lasts?
In this episode, I explore the idea that slow growth creates deep roots &m...
In this episode, I’m sharing something different.
Not a strategy.
Not a checklist.
Not another “do more” approach to health.
This is a spoken manifesto — a clear statement of what I believe about health, especially in midlife.
I talk about why:
