Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury, Olberry Salisbury, Houston.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury, there to usc truth.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
Longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Brian Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewn Salsbury Show.

Speaker 5 (00:22):
Rockets snapped their six game losing streak as they beat
the Raptors yesterday. Ninety four eighty seven went over the Raptors.
They are off for the next couple of days. The
Eagles absolutely dominate the Super Bowl. They win forty to
twenty two over the Kansas City Chiefs. Pitchers and catchers.
Reporting to spring training in Major League Baseball this week,

(00:44):
Sean Tripley was happening. Good morning, What an ass whoopan
the Chiefs took last night at the hands of the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (00:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (00:52):
I think many of us are surprised that they got
beat more talented, you know. I mean, for wouldn't have
put a ton of money on it, I bet, but
I made just as much on the prop bets overcoming
the Chief's money line loss.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
But the truth is, it.

Speaker 7 (01:11):
Didn't take long to figure out who came for a
fistfight and who came for a pillow fight. And it
has nothing to do with how good the Chief's been
in the past, because they've been great. Just judging from
last night, they looked excuse me, I know, I rarely
would say this about an Andy Reid team. They looked
ill prepared the chat. It looked like the Eagles knew

(01:33):
everything that they wanted to do. Chiefs fans got an
idea what Texans fans have gone through and went through
in their playoff game. The quarterback right, the pass rush
was beating into the pocket and he looked after they
hit him a few times early. Now he came back
and made some great plays at the end when the
game was over with his feet and made that great
throw in the end zone to Worthy. But I can
tell you he looked like his head was watching the

(01:56):
pass rushing. Remember of the second quarters like this, dude,
he doesn't look the same. It was not the normal.
Mahomes put it that way, and we said, if you
go onto the fourth quarter with a more than two touchdown,
a two score lead, now you got a chance. Well,
the game was over just in the middle of the
third quarter. That game was done finished because the feed
you could the physical domination, the decisions the Chiefs were making,

(02:17):
I mean, Hopkins a ball like Hopkinson. The first was
like it happened. Kelsey looked like, what are you doing? Mahomes.
They couldn't run it. They're play calling on offense. The
Eagles defense was the MVP, but Jalen was the MVP.
I mean, he played great, but the defense set the
tone so early. I mean they like finesse teams don't

(02:38):
win Super Bowls, man, they just don't. And the Eagles
been physical all year. Defense doesn't give up points and
for his Spagnola is a huge big game defense quarter
and their defense played pretty damn well. They did Kansas
City on Barkley. They did what we said and then
can everybody else beat you?

Speaker 6 (02:53):
Well?

Speaker 7 (02:53):
They did, aj Brown, Devonte Smith, Jalen Hurts with his
arm and his legs and his great decision. The kids
so poyt and he had time to throw and when
he didn't, he was efficient. They dominated the line of
scrimmage and that offensive line. Kansas City was pushed around
at front of it. They didn't blitz once and they
got all those sits and sacks.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yeah that's the first time.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:12):
Vic Fangio's game plan with all the Spagnola talk, was
masterful against Andy Reid. It really was so good. Congratulates
to Philadelphia Eagles. The physical I mean, name me a
part of the game. They didn't dominate. The field goal
kicker made it like it was he was not one
kind of he he was one.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
He drew in.

Speaker 7 (03:31):
Other than that, they he dead down the middle four
feet wide and they were going through. It was a
beatdown of physical and mental and emotional proportions. I'm going
to tell you something. Teams can get old fast. What
if I told you not go see the Chiefs in

(03:52):
the Super Bowl for another five years.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
I wouldn't disagree with you. We were talking about it
before we came on air. As soon as that game
and died. One of the first things I thought of
it was, I don't know if the Kansas City's going
to get back to the Super Bowl in a while.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
The AFC now is just too good.

Speaker 7 (04:05):
It's Mahomes and it's all and as Andy Reid, I
get it. But I'm just telling you Kelsey's at the
end of his career. You can see the offensive line.
They got guys playing out of position and they they
were pushed around.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Man, it was it was it was the I.

Speaker 7 (04:19):
Mean, Barkley was shut down and the Eagles still dominated
their part of the game, even though you give Chiefs
Chiefs defense at least gave them an early chance. But interceptions,
flip fields, picked sixes, misstackles. Great job of them stopping Barkley,
but Jalen Hurts was out of his You know played
he has been in two Super Bowls and both times

(04:40):
he's played well. He's played great football, poised. Good on him.
I know that folks here in Texas are happy for
him and his family, and he played great at it
was a beatdown man. And the truth is it was
easy to become disinterested in about the middle of the second.
I know you said, well, every because Brady's in the booth,
they're down twenty four to it's a different look. The

(05:02):
look in this one was twenty four to nothing. You'll
be lucky if you can score two touchdowns. You're not cuh.
I mean that was you could have started celebrating the
middlecent quarter, planning the parade because they were kicking their ass.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
There was a point in the third quarter where they
hadn't even gotten past midfield and then Tom Brady I
think it was either Tom Brad Kevin Berger on one
of the guys in the broadcast mentioned, hey, Vic Fangiol
still hasn't blitzed yet.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Didn't blitz the whole game?

Speaker 5 (05:28):
Yeah, And it kept going throughout the rest of the game.
They didn't blitz one time.

Speaker 7 (05:33):
Vic Fangil going into this game was they was not
gonna let you get over the top. The plan of
we're gonna play high safeties. You're not getting the home
run now the play to worthy at the end of
the great deep ball throw. But at that point in time,
game was over.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
But and they didn't.

Speaker 7 (05:49):
And they the last time we saw a dominant performance
without a lot of blitzing were three and four man
rushes of the whole game. Was Tom Brady's undefeated season
and Steve Spagnolo was the defensive coordinator for the Giants,
and they rushed for the whole game and hammered their
ass and prevented their undefeated season. All the pressure that

(06:10):
looms with being the first, you know, when you do
something that's just legacy stuff like three peat or doing
what the Patriots did, go undefeated seventeen and oh and
then staring at the eighteenth it is hard to do
or I take that back. They were eighteen and oh,
getting ready to win their nineteenth and they lost that game,
but similar it was a dominant performance by the Giants,

(06:32):
and that Super Bowl was a dominant performance by the Eagles.
Six sacks, forced fumble, couple interceptions, and a bunch more pressures,
and they sent the early message of if you guys
came here to just kind of to to, you know,
chest block as we are going to maul you and
mall they did. And if you were ever concerned about
favoritism in this Super Bowl, for the most part, out

(06:56):
the first pass in the reforits call that should have
been called, and then the next call. There was two
calls in the first quarter, You're like, for the Eagles
and Chiefs, You're like, week, Yeah, both were right at
the back.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Yeah, both here we go. But the rest of the game, yeah,
and the.

Speaker 7 (07:08):
Chiefs, if you want to look at the pill, the
Eagles got damn near every call and right it was
called right other than the first two. Once they settled in,
you'll never have the playing favorites because it wouldn't have mattered.
The Eagles stole their soul last night in that football game.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
I think this is the first time in a very
very very very long time where I've watched the game
with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey where
I thought, man, they just don't look prepared, and they
look they don't prepared. An old Destrian like Travis Kelsey
was not existent. And you said it just a couple
of minutes ago. When in the hell do you ever

(07:43):
see DeAndre Hopkins drop a wide open pass, So not.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Only drop it, but it looked like he'd never caught
a ball before. It was tripped over his feet and
then just kind of flailed his arm up and it
was weird.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
It was as if you know how some people you
throw ball and they bat it down, didn't want to
catch it. And the guy's been so reliable his whole career,
just from the get go, and when you come out
of the tunnel and you send that message early, it did.
They they looked and then they looked to me like
they Phildelphie got in their head early. They're scrambling around

(08:16):
looking for stuff, and every time the ball was snapped,
Philly was either playing in the backfield batting balls down.
Mahomes like late to the flat on the interception, I mean,
he just did not or it's on the on the
fourth down knockdown with the ball. I mean, he just
he was not the same he made. He's listening, he's
so gifted. Nobody's good. This doesn't ruin what they've had,
what they've done. But I'm going to tell you something

(08:37):
that that was. That was a pro I could have
got twenty eight thirty teams to give you. Yeah that
I don't like to say effort because I know they're
playing hard, but they looked If I didn't know it
was the Chiefs and Andy Reid's team and Mahomes, I
would have said that team's not ready for prime time.
They were overwhelmed, and it looked to me like they

(08:58):
were overwhelmed.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
In the game to the point of ye.

Speaker 7 (09:01):
I mean, I don't know if if optics are coming
out of the ring, and you know how when somebody
Mike Tyson used to sprint from his corner and I
mean he'd get right into it in a fight when
he was in his prime, and the other guy in
the other corner's like, do I even want to get
up from this chair before that guy comes and knocks back.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
That's what it felt like. It felt.

Speaker 7 (09:16):
I mean, it was it felt like they knew, fear was.
It was weird because that team and then even when
they're down a couple of touchdowns, you think, don't worry this,
They're gonna.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Find the point.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
They'll figure it out, right, Nah, not even close. Nope.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
You think about this. It was in I think the
first or second it was in the first half. Uh,
maybe after the pick six, they showed Andy Reid walking
up and down the sideline saying, Hey, let's go, let's go.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
When have you ever seen that from him? Exactly?

Speaker 5 (09:42):
That's my That was gonna be my question. What was
the last time you saw that from him? He knew,
he knew early on.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Oh my guys aren't ready. He knew early on, early on.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
I think they're down seventeen to nothing after the pick six,
and they queue to him and he was walking with
that big ass Denny's menu clapping, Hey, let's go, let's go.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
That's the new Syrian. He's that guy.

Speaker 7 (10:02):
On the other Sady, he's always up and down in
the guy's approach different. Andy Reid had more emotion in
the first half of that game then he's had in.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Twenty games, yeah, fifty games, yeah.

Speaker 7 (10:13):
And in big games he just kind of sets their
stoic and doesn't say anything, you know, a little.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Bit talk, yeah, to communicate.

Speaker 7 (10:19):
It was almost as if deep down he thought after
it got going, we had almost felt like I saw
this coming after the way we practiced. I don't know
how they practiced, but yeah, I've seen that movie where
we come out and say, man, it's kind of people
were kind of lollygagging through practice, or somebody comes out
and punching their mouth and say, I can't believe who
would have thought the Chiefs would have looked and played

(10:40):
overwhelmed in a football game.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
It really was. I mean it was there. It was no,
it was a no.

Speaker 7 (10:47):
They left nothing to chance, and you talk about putting
a cleat on somebody's throat, but Andy was more. It
was almost like he was trying to salvage them early on,
save him, like, guys, we got to get rolling back
into the good stuff or we're going to be in trouble. Well,
they could never get off the canvas. They got hit
with standing eight count of about four times in the
first quarter, and I thought it was over.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Well.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
I sent you guys a text in the middle of
the second quarter, said, guy said, at least you get
a good night's sleep or would I say, yeah, at
least to better exactly right. Yeah, And then it just
became background noise in the second half because there was
never a I guarantee though. After they scored and we
scored two and it got your people are like, oh,
here they go and they missed the two piket version.

(11:29):
It was like, now they put a stop to that
because they responded on the other end. Man, everything cheat
the Philadelphia want to do. On both sides of all
they did other than Barkley dominating, but he still made
an impact.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
I caught the ball on the backfield. Isn't selfish.

Speaker 7 (11:44):
He made an impact because his presence on the field
allowed other guys to when we talk, you're going to
see some single coverage those it over the top. DeVante
Adams gets his cup boom touchdown. They got to see
what they wanted to see and they closed it out.
The Chiefs just couldn't close it out last Smith. And
there was that, didn't I say, DeVante Adams Adams, Yeah,

(12:04):
DeVante Smith, DeVante somewhere else on the house, Aaron Rodgers,
but that it was this was the Eagles. There's not
you can't come in this say well, this was happened
this adverse? They got beat up. Yeah, as simple, it
was a fistfight that the other team couldn't handle. It
was it was Leon Spinks getting knocked or Michael Spinks
getting knocked out by Tyson in ninety one sevens.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
I thought what happened? I really thought.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
At one point in the third quarter, before they had
finally scored, I was like, dude, these guys even gonna
score today or we're about to see a shutout? Is
gonna be like forty five nothing at the end?

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Shut out with no blitzing and you still dominate it.
It's insane, man.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
And then Tom Brady read a stat during the game
that Vic Fangio's defense this year for the Eagles, they
they blitzed twenty percent of the time.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Yeah or more, he did.

Speaker 7 (12:45):
Yeah, And they they didn't don't bliss a lot, but
they blitzed far more in other games than they do
in this one. But they had a plan, and you
want to talk about working your plan to perfection, they did.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
My goodness, seven one three, seven ninety is the number
to join. We got a lot to get into today.
Obviously we're going to focus on the Super Bowl. Got
some information in regards to the Rockets and that six
game skid. They finally snapped it, and we'll give you
your daily Alex Bregman update. But next, Jalen Hurts the

(13:14):
local kid got himself an MVP. Let's take a look
at his performances in two super Bowls. It's fantastic.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
That's next, putting the logic in illogical.

Speaker 8 (13:26):
Former pro Juan Salisbury continues to break it down on
seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Your thoughts on the Super Bowl? What's up, John?

Speaker 6 (13:38):
Good morning, guys. Can you hear me?

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Yeah, we got you, Okay, Thanks?

Speaker 6 (13:42):
Hey, I just want to make two points one.

Speaker 9 (13:45):
You know, the game, I just felt all along and
I was, you know, tweeting about this and everything that
the game just depended that the reps are going to
let the players play, and you guys touched on it.
They they did, and Kansas City got waxed. I felt
all along that, you know, Kansas City should didn't.

Speaker 6 (14:04):
Belong in that game. They just didn't.

Speaker 9 (14:06):
I think that, you know, the Texans should have won.
I think, you know, Buffalo shold won. I mean, every
every game that Kansas City played, there's always controversial. So anyways,
they got theirs and I was never more excited about
a Super Bowl game than I was last night.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
I thought it was fantastic. Uh.

Speaker 9 (14:21):
The second point I want to make is, uh, it
gets back to the defensive coordinator.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
Now, you notice that these teams that have won.

Speaker 9 (14:29):
Or that get to the big dance, you know, like
you look at Las Vegas got Chip Kelly, and you know,
the outlooked for Las Vegas I think looks outstanding because
of that. You know, the Eagles got Vic Fangio, Kansas
City's got Spagnolo. These are guys that have been around,
that are proven, that have been winners wherever they've been.
And the Texans I just feel blew a chance to

(14:51):
do that. I wish they would have really tried to
get Chip Kelly or somebody really good that was proven.

Speaker 6 (14:56):
And right now we don't know, we don't know what
the outlook is. I mean, we're all full of hope,
but I just wish they wouldn't take chances.

Speaker 9 (15:02):
I wish they would like get serious and get some
really good people, good proven people here. And you know
last night was a good and you look at you
see that every year in every Super Bowl, you know,
they all have good, proven coordinators.

Speaker 6 (15:18):
And that's what gets them there.

Speaker 9 (15:20):
And uh, I just that's that's my worry about the
Texans and uh that's about it. I wanted to make
those two points and it was a great win. I
loved the game that the refs let them play. And
you know is Kansas City got their due.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
So I'm out, Thank you John, Guys appreciate you bet.
Thank you John. Yeah, I John. Now they deserve to
be there because they won fifteen games and beat everybody,
even though twelve of their wins this year were one
score games, twelve of them. Yeah, and you know, final

(15:53):
drive type.

Speaker 7 (15:54):
The Eagles were not going to leave that into question
in this game. So it was like one score with
the with the ball at the end, and it just
it played up. Most people thought Philadelphia's roster was better,
and most people thought Kansas City'd find a way to win,
even though if you bet against him, and he's right,
there's I mean, these hires and Kellen Moore is going
to be the Saints new head coach. That's what they're
waiting on. So he'll leave again Philadelphia after a Super

(16:16):
Bowl appearance. This one they want is going to lose
their offensive coordinator. I wouldn't imagine Vic Fangiel is going
to get a head coaching job after this, But you
keep him as long as, paying whatever you need to
to make sure he doesn't retire to that he loves
football because this was personal him. Last time he was there,
he got beat. They got beat as a coordinator in
Super Bowl, So yeah, good on them. John makes a

(16:37):
good point about the future.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
I do get.

Speaker 7 (16:39):
I know that we get some young guys that are awesome,
but it's hard to replace experience in big games. Even
though there was a lot more youth, you know, defense
like Kellen Moore has been calling him for a while,
but he Matchedwitz for Andy Reid throw for throw, play
for play right he did so it was really impressive.
But yeah, the Chiefs I'm going to right now.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Man.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
You know, Kelsey's every year you get a little older.
The hunger factor it did looked like the It felt
like the three peat. More people were talking about it.
The Chiefs didn't play like they were trying to repeat,
and that had a lot to do with the way
Philadelphia man handled him. It just it just the optics
of the game looked different. But it wasn't just optics.
It was deep down in there. Like I said, it

(17:24):
was deep down in their soul.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Yesterday the Eagles were not getting out of that building
without a winning it was. The score was even the
ass kicking was worse than the score. Yeah, yeah, it was.
They got a couple of big plays down the field.
It was worse than the score. They did.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
Ay they pulled up an aerial shot of Patrick Mahomes
on one of the plays and Tom Brady was pointing
out the way the defenders were coming in from the
defensive line for the Eagles, and then they ran it
kind of in slow mo. I honestly, I don't like
Patrick Mahomes. His feet were so skittish last night, dude.

(17:59):
He was all over the place in the pocket, dude,
dancing around like he looked so worried about that pass rush.
He had no idea what was going on. And you
don't say that very much about him.

Speaker 7 (18:12):
So the first time I've seen him for the most
part in the game, other than you know, the one
run where he kept going and cut back inside and
then there was a holding penalty on the play.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Anyway, it's the one time I've seen him.

Speaker 7 (18:22):
He didn't get any help, much help from his friends
but we criticize other quarterbacks and so he's not above it.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
No, hell knows.

Speaker 7 (18:27):
He's got all the Listen, he's got more praise than
anybody in the planet the last eight years, okay, without question.
So he's not above criticism and he deserved it. In
this game, their line wasn't any good.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
But he didn't.

Speaker 7 (18:38):
He yanked the one that Kelsey into the ground, forced
one scrambling to his right for a pick even though
he got hit and the thing threw the pick down
in the red zone. Patrick Mahomes was not good in
this game. He made a few spectacular plays, which he'll
do every game, but he wasn't And it's okay. I mean,
you're gonna if he doesn't play well and he can't
run it, you're not winning, especially when the other team's
doing what they're doing defensively. But they it's the first

(18:59):
time I saw him.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
For four quarters. Yeah, look pedestrian.

Speaker 5 (19:03):
Yeah, there were two passes that I vividly remember Travis Kelce.
I mean he yanked it straight in the ground like
five to Kelsey, away from Kelsey, and Kelsey whipped his
head back and looked at Patricks like, what the was that?

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Right?

Speaker 5 (19:17):
And then there was another play, I think early in
the third quarter. He's trying to hit Hopkins and it
wasn't even close and the same thing. Hopkins looked back
to him like, what the.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Hell was that? He was not good man? No, he
did not play well.

Speaker 7 (19:30):
He didn't And it it the decisions and watching his
that they came out early, sent the message and he
could he nor could the team recover. But it's the
first time did I did. I felt like, Oh, I
see guys like this every Sunday playing like this, right.
Just he was just a guy. Yeah, and that's that

(19:52):
has a lot to do with the way Philadelphia. Oh yeah,
he was. He was just a guy in the game.
So there they listen, they got beat up. And with
all the compliments we give him over the years, they
can take some criticism. But this is going to be
something they're going to have to recover from quickly. Because
I watched Seattle. Now it's a little different. Get get
old and decimated quickly. After their Super Bowl win. I

(20:15):
know they got back, but the win they got back
in that Super Bowl win, they never recovered from. I
mean the loss loss. Yeah, the Malcolm Butler played to go.
They didn't recover and while they were good, and then
the defense wanted everybody wanted more money, and everybody started
go and move on. And I'm not saying that could,
but the Chiefs. The goal in the the in the
AFC is everybody now is looking at saying, and you

(20:36):
watch tape, you're gonna say they're they're beatable. And they
were a bunch as they just found ways to win,
but this was they left no doubt. They choked them
out in this game and it was impressive. It was blatant,
and it was something that you don't I'm not sure
if you're the Chiefs you want anything to do with
that tape until you got six months down the road
to remind you before the season starts, to get your

(20:57):
motivation up. How about vic fan jail the week this
week showed his defense the performance the last time he
was in a Super Bowl if his team getting beat
as a coordinator, and I guess as you heard the
broadcast last night, that you could hear a pin drop
in the meeting room as if, oh yeah, and they can't.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
They played like they were, well, coach, we're going to
get this.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
I think the craziest thing about that entire game. They
didn't blitz. Dude, they wrecked the hell out of that
offensive line for the Chiefs, that defensive front.

Speaker 7 (21:27):
It really was me versus you and I'm better than
you and that, and that's exactly how it turned out
last night. So what a win and what a what
a dominating performance by the Philadelphia.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
So much for that whole uh oh, four defensive starters
are going to are under the weather.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
They're battling illness. Yeah, well you know that that didn't
have any effect. Yeah, they took it out on the Chiefs.
I can tell you that j Jalen Carter is going

Val The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, Doctor Roger, Roger, appreciate
your holding. Good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 10 (23:37):
Brian Sean e O crew.

Speaker 11 (23:40):
Hey man, Uh, you know, I don't really like to
live by Kerosey through things, but man, I lived by
Karzy do that ass whipping yesterday. We're all eastd fans.
That that was just that was just a nice thing
to see after such a you know, so much failure
going to up against his team. Man, And yeah, your
guys are right. Those guys look ill prepared. It looks
like gear the headlight type of deal.

Speaker 12 (24:00):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (24:01):
My thing is, you know it looks Look how look how.

Speaker 11 (24:05):
Shortly it took for Mahomes to get skint ish and
to get to get raveled with all that pressure coming
at him all the time and him not being able
to uh do what he usually does.

Speaker 10 (24:16):
Now that that one that that one, that one game
here was a whole season for C. J.

Speaker 11 (24:23):
Stroud and him not being able to do what he
can do and to get to ten wins, that's pretty
that's pretty amazing.

Speaker 10 (24:30):
So I think if he if he gets to.

Speaker 11 (24:32):
The line right and and he gets that, gets that
thing going, you know, I'd like to see him use
some of that Jalen Hurts uh sixth sense mentality and
and getting through that, you know, shooting that a gap whenever,
whenever there's nothing available down you know, down the down
the field. So I just thought that it was really
nice to see.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Man.

Speaker 11 (24:51):
I just you know, I was just getting sick of
those have so much casey fatigue, and uh, that was
just nice.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Man.

Speaker 10 (24:58):
You guys have a great day.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
Appreciate you.

Speaker 5 (25:01):
Roger seven one three seven ninety Starctor Wood would good morning?

Speaker 3 (25:10):
Hello, would.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Yo, what's happening? What's up? Uh? Oh I got pulled
upside down?

Speaker 13 (25:18):
Yeah, man, okay, let me tell you what's going on.
That was a great super Bowl. I love every minute
of that butt whip. I mean that that to see
Kansas City get whipped like that, I mean, man, that
was a true massacre. I mean that show you when
you got a front fold that can rush like that.

(25:41):
Brady cauldn't handle the front fold when when New York
was coming at him. That's what we needed, that defensive tockle.
They're come in there and disrupt that defense, desrupt that
offense and make that push. Because man, he literally got
punched in the mouth when that.

Speaker 10 (25:56):
Defensive man had his face.

Speaker 13 (25:58):
Man's all in his face and his those just box
just take his.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Face off of them.

Speaker 14 (26:03):
That I was loving every minute of it.

Speaker 13 (26:06):
Like I say, that's gon go down in history right
next to the Masacret with with the Indians, the Shawing custom.
That's how beautiful that was. I mean, man, that that
show you what we are capable of with our defense.
But we just missing that that push in the middle.
Once you get that push in the middle, ITA's Patrick Mahomes.

(26:27):
That disrupted his whole office, his whole scheme. That's the
reason why when you when you're watching them, deepens a
line and pushing his whole office a line back into him,
and he's trying to get the hell up out of
there because you don't have nothing, you don't want nothing
to do with the grown men.

Speaker 6 (26:44):
That was beautiful.

Speaker 13 (26:45):
That That's how you beat Brady, That's how you beat Cayton.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
They can't.

Speaker 10 (26:50):
They did not like him pushed in the middle.

Speaker 13 (26:53):
They can stand that same thing with Patrick Mahomes. That's
how you beat them.

Speaker 7 (26:59):
Appreciate you what, Yeah, that's how you beat all of them.
Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady,
Dan Marino. You hit him in the face. I mean
it's not just Mala you know, it's I'll tell you what,
not just from Wood, but the overall I am you
would think the biggest rivalry in the.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Texans history is the Chiefs.

Speaker 7 (27:23):
Yeah, I mean because you dislike them, because well the
favorite the dislike favoritism they get, but also the fact
that they're good. And no other time in history will
you root for a Philadelphia team it's against the Kansas
City Chiefs. I mean, I'm talking. That's what's crazy about
it this. They wouldn't be rooted for the Kansas for

(27:43):
Philadelphia any other time. No, And yet in this one
it is because of the and yet Andy Reid doesn't
bother any and it's just the fact that they win,
and they become the villain when they're winning. But make
no mistake, it isn't just Mahomes who's got really you know,
really underrated good feet and the rest of it. In
just Mahomes, Josh Allen hadn't been here for a reason,

(28:05):
Lamar Jackson hasn't been here for a reason. Jalen Hurts
obviously has played big in two Super Bowls.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
It shows you what.

Speaker 7 (28:12):
If you recall And I said it before you even
got on this show, but did I saw him as
a freshman. He's playing against USC in Dallas, and I
turned to three of my former teammates and I said,
at the end of the game, I said, that's the
most poised freshman.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
I didn't say best.

Speaker 7 (28:27):
I said this poison to freshman watching walking out of
the game is just his demeanor. And through all the
good and the bad that he's had, people like, oh,
did we overpay him and got him to a Super Bowl?
All that, the dude still is poisoned there as just
his interviews are just like, you know, there's a calmness,
there's not the lack of celebrate. He just is so
you could tell he's a coach's son. That it's like

(28:48):
the dad with a lineman mentalities. Listen, it's a long game,
a long season, a long career. You just got to
keep going, put your work in and not worry about
well all the periphery talk, because there's been periphery talk.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Well, he can't throw. I just know in the NFC
Championship game.

Speaker 7 (29:01):
In this game he threw it better than both the
quarterbacks he was playing against, and both of them, one's
an MVP and one's a Rookie of the Year, and
he outplayed him. So the truth is it's not just
the Mahomes. Listen, criticize away. They got their ass kicked,
but we also have to recognize this run they've been
on has been special. The question is now do you

(29:22):
have to kick And this is the first time now
they've been beating the Super Bowl before, but now they've
got to pick themselves up and wonder if that ass
is still there?

Speaker 3 (29:29):
Yeah, and they got that left. Okay, that's the off season.

Speaker 7 (29:33):
Now they're going to have to deal with and we'll
find out where the hunger comes from again next year,
because you can get caught just as quickly as the
hangover for a win. It's the hangover after getting your
ass smoked. And they did. But there is no Okay,
what do we say every single when the season starts
at the end of the season. You tell me who
won the national title this year, Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
How physical were they?

Speaker 5 (29:56):
They beat They manhandled, damned everybody except for Texas and
even well.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
The situational right situation.

Speaker 7 (30:05):
And the Eagles made situational foot they didn't allow the
Chiefs to play their normal situational football. Third and twenty three,
I mean they yeah, there was one.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
There weren't many third and twos.

Speaker 7 (30:16):
And just to show you, Mahomes is off, He's rarely
late throwing the football. Like I said, the one of
the float we were talking about, the yanket into the ground,
the one of the flout on fourth down to three
that they almost took it.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
He would if he if he catches it, he's to
the house, that's right. But he laid just a split second.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
Everything they did was a split second behind, like they
were in a little bit of slow motion. And the
Eagles were playing urgent without being hurried. And then the
in turn that the Chiefs looked like they were hurried
the entire game and desperate. But when you get hit
in the face and get hit like that, finesse teams.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
I'll say it.

Speaker 7 (30:49):
Again, if you thought that the Ohios date Buck guys
were finesse. I can show you some tape. Ask Oregon
how that was, Washington tape Texas even then down there
and Texas ruarned. Never run sideways at the half yard line. Yeah,
if you can't get in going downhill at four, then
you make good enough to ways in a real right
and then you look at it. But the Chiefs, when

(31:10):
they've won, they've had great finesse, but they still control
the line of scripts. I last year in the Super Bowl,
their defense was out out of their mind. But finesse
teams don't win championships. And I'm going to tell you
next year, a finesse team will not win it in college,
high school, or NFL. And the team that was now
they made great perimeter plays. Even when they didn't run it,
they still attempted to run. They didn't abandon Barkley, they

(31:33):
still handed.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
It to him. Yeah, and what happens. I don't even
know how many times Chiefs run the ball. Let's double
check that I mean. And some of them were Mahomes
runs on eleven Yeah, and some of those were Mahomes
on non designed runs.

Speaker 5 (31:45):
Mahomes led Kansas City and rushing four carries for twenty
five yards.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Now do Philadelphia how many forty five.

Speaker 15 (31:53):
Had?

Speaker 3 (31:53):
Twenty five.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
One of the things that you mentioned last week was
I hope Kellen Moore doesn't abandon the run if they
can't get him going, And they did. He rushed twenty
five times fifty seven yards, only two and a half
yards per carry.

Speaker 7 (32:04):
What was the score forty to twenty two. Do the
attempts again for both teams?

Speaker 5 (32:09):
Forty five rushing attempts for the Eagles and eleven for
the Kansas City And well, what.

Speaker 7 (32:15):
Do I tell you that it's not the yards that
the overwhelming winning statistic is attempts rushing the football forty
five to eleven. Yeah, and Kellen Moore, for all the
flash and dash and pomp and circumstances he puts up offensively,
they didn't abandon it. And they made Barkley hit singles

(32:35):
the whole game. Yeah, and they still got beat. There
was a message sent on both sides that we're going
to run it whether we get yards or not, and
then we'll make enough plays and then we're going to
stop you from doing anything you want to do.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
You ain't winning super.

Speaker 7 (32:48):
Bowls running at eleven times when the other team runs
it forty five and it turned the script that we said,
if the Eagles will win, this will happen.

Speaker 6 (32:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (32:57):
Is it hurts through the one pick deep down the
field in the red zone. Other than that protected the ball,
used his feet and their defense mauled them and they
ran it. Kellen Moore stayed disciplined and patient, ran it
forty five friggin times. Yeah, hence ass kicking overwhelming statistic
for the winner.

Speaker 5 (33:17):
Jalen Hurts and two Super Bowls Shawn forty four of
sixty five hundred and twenty five yards passing, three touchdowns,
one interception, one hundred and forty two rushing yards, four
touchdowns on the ground, a passer rating of one h
nine point three se oh.

Speaker 7 (33:29):
Yeah, and tell me again why he's not still one
of the better ones. I mean, if there's not three
guys more poised in this league than him, there may
be three more talented, three more poised, and then I
mean it's pretty damn talented. Look at the numbers and
two Super bowls. What did Mark schlaiir when we didn't
even talk about what was the number one statistic for him?
And I again, both of us at different time setups

(33:49):
rush forty five, dull, i'most say it as loud as
you can hear it. Yeah, next year, if the Super
Bowl champion, whoever it is, rushes thirty five times and
the other team rushes fifteen, I don't care who the
other team is. Or if Superman and Matthew, Mark, Luke
and John come down to play, they're not winning, no
matter how good give me, Marino, Elway, Manning, Brady and Mahomes.

(34:10):
If you run it eleven times, you're not winning. Jamar Chase,
Randy Moss, Jerry Rice, and Barry Sanders in your backfield.
Run it eleven times and you will still get beat,
regardless of who the.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Guy under center is. And that's coming from a quarterback
who loves to throw it.

Speaker 7 (34:27):
Yeah, you don't win championships as a pillow fighting finesse team.
And the Chiefs woke up on Super Bowl morning and
decided they were going to jump into a pillow fight.
And the Philadelphia Phillies, like their old Philadelphia Eagles, like
the old Philadelphia Flyers broad Street Bullies, decided they were
going to come in and bully you and punch you

(34:48):
right in your face. And Kansas City never responded, never no,
if it was a if that was a boxing match,
that thing ends. The ref steps in and says, nah,
this wishments to Blaytant stops the fight because the cut
can't be closed in the first round. Done, And that
knockout punch came early and often in that game, and

(35:09):
they got their ass kicked. Seven one, three, two two
five at seven ninety is the number to join. We
roll along right here on the Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 8 (35:18):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues. No, now you know, well,
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
They are partying their asses off in Philly last night
and in down on Bourbon Street. They're grease and Pole's
big dog.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
It won't be like this for long. That sounds so depressing.

Speaker 7 (35:40):
That might be though, like this for a while for
the chi It might be like this very bit. It's
eventually when you're up you got it good land and
come back down a little humble.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
It was uh.

Speaker 7 (35:56):
That's a little uh that'll send you back to work
in the off season, or you decide that this.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
Is a little that wow. You know, you know, I
take full blame, Sean. Yeah, it was my issue, my fault. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (36:11):
It plays best game by any stretch of the advitainage
Philadelphia did. They dominated a line of scrivage. They stopped
on the run. And like I said, and Q sent
me a text mess, it makes a good point. Like
we said, some of those runs were not designed runs.
So really what they call six seven runs a whole name.
And Andy just he just they just but you couldn't

(36:32):
run it. You got down so far. You had to
try and make a few plays. And with all that,
they dominated the you know, time of possession, everything the
Eagles wanted to do. When you draw it up during
the week, you hope it turns like this, and it did, honestly,
and it just flat ass did. And it was I
don't know, man, it was. It was just one of
those games where from the start from you you know,

(36:54):
sometimes you start off fast and then you take a
deep breath and the other team rolls back into it.
They never leved, They never had a sigh at any
point in time.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Did the Eagles.

Speaker 7 (37:02):
They put their you know, their foot on the gas
the entire time. That's a cliche, but it's in fact, yeah,
they were. They were all twelve. Man, it's a hit
on all twelve last night.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
It's it's it's a cliche until it's true.

Speaker 7 (37:14):
Yeah, you're called a click. No, the click clicky is
that it is pronounced now c l I c h E. Right, No,
I call it clique clickie. Yeah, that's a really clique.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
No.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
He was what we called James click when he was
a general manager.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Click? Okay, Yeah, what a game. I'm so glad football
season is over, are you dude?

Speaker 16 (37:36):
I am.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
I'm ready for baseball, man, I'm glad College march madness. Yeah,
it's time to make some cash paper and then it
gets me to get me to baseball. I've I've had
enough football. Yeah, I didn't have cancer chiefs fatigue, I
have football fatigue. I'm ready.

Speaker 6 (37:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
But then the month of April in and you're like, damn, dude,
I'm so tired of baseball.

Speaker 7 (37:56):
Well, at that point in time, I'll say give it.
You'll see the Masters and all that. I'll say, give
me a give me Gustin, and give me some golf
the rest of the summer until football season starts again,
or till the dead part of that. I mean to
tell to tell baseball gets rolling where it's like, okay,
first month, exciting dog days and now let's get back
out to.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Five degrees. Astros will start out forty and three to
start the season. They'll probably start out forty and three.
They'll probably start out twelve and twenty four. Again, forty
and three, So random, forty three games in. I don't
know why I even thought about that. Who picks just
forty and three?

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Right?

Speaker 7 (38:35):
Even if you said, like forty and five, right, forty
and ten, forty three, I said forty and three. I
don't know, man, I just had an epiphany. No word,
you know, no, I doubt they're gonna go forty and three.
But yeah, I football, I'm good.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
I'm good. Yeah, well done, move on, get the off sea.

Speaker 7 (38:55):
I'm excited for like what's going to happen with you know,
the off season and who the draft is you go
in And I'm not a you know, the prognostic case.
I have eight million mock drafts. I'm just saying, getting
into how you're going to build your team again.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
But I'm that ass. Wooman was enough to put football
to bed for me.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 7 (39:11):
It was an exclamation point in Times about ten and
uh they took care of it. So I'm ready now
for you know, to show your game. Uh, Sun's going
to start coming out. There's a lot of good things
to like about the news.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
On Saturday. Yeah you got problem with it. You got
a problem with it in February. Yeah you got a
problem with it. Yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
You do.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
Give me seventy degrees getting that riggy ears and head
east and bitches. No, I have a job.

Speaker 7 (39:38):
Hey, you know what, take that access No that, make
sure you get it back and drive it and bring
it back in right, Yeah, exactly, make sure you way
by the way you drop it off.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
Hey, by the way, drive an hour in. But starting ice,
I need you to bring that in the city. Bring
that in for us. Yeah, thanks, appreciate it, fellas.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
But you go.

Speaker 7 (39:57):
Hey, head east, dude, do you want some more cold?
I got a few places I could send you.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Yeah, where's that? You know Minnesota's really warm this time?

Speaker 2 (40:05):
Nice?

Speaker 7 (40:05):
I mean you want cold, I can give you twenty
head I got place you go. All had the other way.

Speaker 5 (40:11):
You missed my whole thing before you started talking about
a z Florida for each you started talking about Darius Rutgers.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
It won't be like this for long. I said, dude,
they're they're grease and poles in Philly. Man, uh yeah,
in more ways than one. Yeah, as they should.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
They like.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
They like broke into a Linen's truck. Yeah, don't. Don't
you lit the towels on fire? That part I don't get.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
Why why do you?

Speaker 7 (40:37):
Why do you root a good thing? But I think
it The best way to celebrate is, well, let's light
our city on fire?

Speaker 3 (40:43):
Who does that?

Speaker 7 (40:44):
We see that every year we watch the video. Yeah
we won, let's start burning cars. And I mean but
every year we're saying it in some city, like what.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
Are you doing? They lit a massive pile of towels
on fire. Yeah, okay, what a message?

Speaker 6 (40:58):
I mean, what what?

Speaker 3 (40:59):
But Philly one looks like the towels Yeah.

Speaker 7 (41:02):
Yeah yeah, and let's close down all the Philly cheese steaks.
It's burned them down to yet now the next day
we're pissed, so we can't get a Philly chief steak.
Well it's called Bradley Cooper's food truck.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
He did it, really was awesome man with him and
his kid. Yeah, it was great, freaking awesome. So who
did it for Kansas City?

Speaker 6 (41:16):
John Ham?

Speaker 3 (41:17):
Oh he sucked at it, dude, what are you talking about?
That's Land. Man, I love John Hamm, but dude, he
sucked at it. Hambone is what I call hambone hitting puberty.
As he's screaming, he was just representing his Chiefs figured out, dude.
So there you go, man, But I uh yeah, I'm
just stating you really are You're such I mean, yeah,

(41:38):
you think they won a few games in the past
for you to hate him cares?

Speaker 5 (41:41):
Yeah, And I love I love Nick right, you know,
Nick writes a Kansas City guy. Right, he spent the
entire month of January glazing the Kansas City Chiefs, just.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
Jock riding them.

Speaker 5 (41:51):
Oh my god, Patrick Mahomes' he tweeted out last night
at eight twenty. Well, for the first time in three
glorious years, there were some doubts. Oh there were doubts there.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
There was a doubt. In the middle of third corn
we got your ass kicked. Yeah, there were no doubts
for you, Nick, Right, Well you on the backtrack, now.

Speaker 7 (42:06):
Mark when they got down what four, like fourteen points
or whatever it was, I didn't I see it scrolling
that he said, this is about the time they kick
in now, yeah, yeahs we can start the game, can start?

Speaker 2 (42:15):

Eagles beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Pitchers catchers
reporting this week in Major League Baseball. Seven two two five,
seven ninety is the number to join talking about this
Super Bowl win for the Eagles. Jalen Hurts is the
MVP played right here in the city of Houston, just
down the road at Channel View High Schools. Doctor Steve, Steve,
appreciate you. Hold, good morning, Hey guys.

Speaker 13 (43:24):
Wow.

Speaker 17 (43:26):
Remember Rocky four when Apollo Creed goes up to uh
Drago and says, coach your hand, and then he hits
them on the hand, and all of a sudden he's like,
I will beat you. You know, That's what I'm sure
that's what's Patrick mahomes, So like, that's not the reason
my question Sean, you said forty and three. No, it's
four and seven. There's the model we just saw four

(43:49):
and seven. I know you know it I'm talking about
because your quarterback, four bad boys up front, and there
was seven deep.

Speaker 6 (43:57):
Can you hear me?

Speaker 7 (43:59):
Yeah, we're just letting you talk talk man. What did
you want me to say about that?

Speaker 3 (44:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (44:02):
Four up and seven deep. That's exactly right. It's not
seven deep you talking about the game. It's four down
and four deep or or too deep. And yeah, the
four man rush with five hundred and two deep, That's
that's really what it comes down to.

Speaker 3 (44:17):
If you're referring to the m Eagles defense.

Speaker 17 (44:20):
Yeah, rumor is they're going to get Miles Garrett.

Speaker 16 (44:23):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (44:23):
What's my question really is who's they the chiefs of
the Eagles? Of who's they?

Speaker 17 (44:30):
I heard Eagles? But the question is what can the
Texans learn from this? Because they're on the start of this,
they can and I'll hang up, what can they learn
from this model? Because this seems like there's going to
be more you know, defensive guys being instead of going
after the quarterback to the quarterback.

Speaker 6 (44:47):
It really doesn't matter what quarterback.

Speaker 17 (44:49):
Now, if you have that, oh my god, that was
a wrecking crew, I'll hang.

Speaker 3 (44:53):
Up and let you thank you, thank you, Steve appreciate it.
I uh, I can tell you this.

Speaker 7 (44:59):
If you say, what the Texas learned from this one
is you better protect the quarterback and play more physical
upfront offensively.

Speaker 3 (45:06):
That's the biggest lesson.

Speaker 7 (45:09):
No protection quarterbacks useless, you'll become well, you'll become the Chiefs,
or if you're running around, you'll become thirty one other
teams or thirty other teams that if the one team's
pushing in to Washington. Got a taste of that from Philadelphia.
And good quarterback. This guy's a pretty good player in Mahomes.
So the lesson I see from this is one I

(45:31):
don't listen.

Speaker 3 (45:32):
I think that this.

Speaker 7 (45:34):
If I said two and a half game two and
a half times, gave you the over under at two
and a half times, Mahomes will be back in the
Super Bowl. What would you bet the under or the
over two and a half that he'll be in two
and a half more Super Bowls?

Speaker 3 (45:48):
Under?

Speaker 7 (45:48):
I would take the under as well. Yeah I would hesitate,
Yeah I would take the under. So what it tells
the Texans The Texas got allowed to be Philadelphia or
Baltimore or Buffalo or the Chiefs. Even now, the Chiefs
were probably the most average fifteen and two offense all
year long you've seen. But situationally they won twelve games

(46:10):
by one score less, so they know they get it.
But I can tell you that if you don't control
the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball,
it won't matter. It's just I mean, you'll get to
a certain point, but you're not dominating February. It is
not And Eagles took care of all their business. The
Chiefs didn't this time around. You've got to handle if

(46:32):
the quarterbacks Jersey's clean, average ones become good, good ones
become great, and great ones win super Bowls.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
It's pretty simple.

Speaker 7 (46:39):
And until they until they dominate, and when people say
we can't get there. They got an offensive line like
Phillies in a front seven that they're building. I think
put it this way, they're closer defensively to the Eagles
than the Texans are offensively to somebody like Detroit. That's
how their defense is close. But they are offensive line

(47:00):
is a marathon away. They gotta get better. They gotta
get better. That's a lessons.

Speaker 5 (47:07):
Yeah's talk to Joe. Joe, Good morning, Joe. All right,
I'm not sure what's going on with that. Hey, one
of the things I was just reading. I know we
talked about it in the first hour, Sewan about the
Eagles not blitzing. Patrick Mahomes dropped back forty two times
last night and faced zero blitzes forty two times and

(47:30):
the Eagles blitzed zero percent.

Speaker 7 (47:33):
Forty two times and ran it forty five themselves. Result
forty plus points. And the game that you know what,
the biggest question of the game was the kickoff. After
the kickoff, that's about. That's about is confident as the
Chiefs were gonna be after that. They went in there,

(47:55):
took their heart and fed it to them and smirked
the whole.

Speaker 3 (47:58):
Time they were doing it. Insane, man, it was they
they were they were It was a heavyweight fight, and
the Chiefs played like Walter White's.

Speaker 5 (48:09):
Is Joe there, triple we get get a big step?
All right, Let's talk to Joe before getting the stakeout. Joe,
what's happening?

Speaker 12 (48:15):
Hey, It's funny you mentioned the boxing reference because I
was gonna use that uh to me, like.

Speaker 6 (48:21):
To beat the Chiefs.

Speaker 12 (48:22):
It's gotta be like a boxing match. You just gotta
clearly beat them because if it goes down to the
last minutes, Uh, it's almost like a Floyd Mayweather fight.
If it's close, they're gonna give it to the to
the champ And the Eagles had to go out there
and just put it on them, leave it to the refs.

Speaker 4 (48:44):
And I believe that's what they did in this this game.

Speaker 12 (48:47):
I went out there and just totally dominated.

Speaker 16 (48:50):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (48:50):
Everybody's saying Patrick Mahomes is the greatest of all time,
better than Tom Brady. He looked average at best, and
I'll hang up and listen.

Speaker 6 (48:58):
Thank you, thank you, Joe.

Speaker 7 (49:00):
Yeah, Well, Mahomes doesn't get that until he actually overtakes
Brady as the Goats. He's a more gifted playmaker when
it comes to doing other things off schedule. But and
you're not when it comes to mechanics. You don't want
to watch Mahomes. That's not what you're teaching. You're teaching
Brady mechanics or guys like that Burrow in the pocket.

(49:20):
Even Josh Allen, this is not Mahomes just is so
good at all the spontan eighty and he's just not
a mechanics fanatic. He'll drop back why his steps. He
never really ever sets his feet. He just kind of
drops back on a three step. It's three, maybe four,
maybe five. He's just so frigging gifted and got high
football IQ. But when somebody's hitting you, then your head
goes to the pass rush and then you start to
do things that take you out of your comfort zone.

(49:42):
So yeah, no, I think the argument that Mahomes right
now is better than Brady is wrong, but the argument
that he's in the conversation is exactly right.

Speaker 3 (49:53):
God, he had an Patrick Mahomes eleven point four total
QBR last night, second lowest in his career.

Speaker 7 (49:58):
If it wasn't Patrick Mahomes, imagine what the the criticism
would beat today. Oh, they'd be crushing him. Yeah, whoever
it is, it wouldn't matter.

Speaker 3 (50:09):
No, we'd be he would The cities would be when
on the radio this morning say we gotta get rid
of him. Maagine brock Party, they'd be Oh they he'd
be done. They'd be they they It's true. It's craziness.

Speaker 7 (50:22):
So here we are and uh, Philadelphia, go celebrate, man,
but do it safely because you earned it, that's for sure.
They they did to their playoff opponents what Ohio State
did to their playoff opponents. They left no doubt, no,
they they just dominated. Both At one point in the
season were firing their coaches.

Speaker 3 (50:41):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 7 (50:41):
Yeah, Sirianni was gone if he doesn't get there. This team,
they went through all that adversity early on and overcame it.
Ohio State after the lost to Oregon, well it.

Speaker 3 (50:50):
Could have won.

Speaker 7 (50:50):
And then when Michigan beat him, it's time for Ryan
Day to go. Well, now he's making twelve and a
half million dollars a year and he's the champion, and
Nick Sirianni he's not getting fired. He'll probably get a
contract extension, and and he's a super Bowl champion. And
in truth, Syriann, he's been there what four years, and
he's been at two super Bowls. Pretty impressive, would like, Yeah,
pretty impressive. So physical, they overcame adversity. Everybody wanted the

(51:14):
coaches fired. I mean it's a little bit blanket same
not every but you get my point. And now both
are wearing the trophy. Yeah, are wearing the ring and
carrying the charry and the trophy. Yeah, let's get to
the steak out next. Right here on Sports Talk seven
to eighty, the hottest.

Speaker 3 (51:29):
Takes in Houston's sports so emotionally tied to the team.

Speaker 8 (51:33):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues. All right, that's on Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?

Speaker 8 (51:45):
The Salisbury's takeout, Salisbury's takeout.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
On the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (51:52):
Its side for the steak out here on the Sean
Salisbury Show, Sean Salisbury, Brian Limammanuel Elmore. Rockets snapped their
six game losing streak by beating the Raptors yesterday. They're
off tonight, Eagles taking down the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Pitchers catchers reporting this week in Major League Baseball baseball

(52:18):
season right round the corner now that football season has concluded,
seven three, two two five, seven ninety is the number
to join. All right for the stakeout, Sean, did you
watch the halftime performance?

Speaker 3 (52:34):
If you did, did you like it?

Speaker 2 (52:36):
I didn't.

Speaker 7 (52:38):
I did not see it once it got close to halftime,
and have done some barbecue and stuff, so I got
in a shower and got ready for to have the
second half at least on my TV, knowing that it
really wasn't going to change the betting line or how
I felt.

Speaker 3 (52:54):
I did not see it. I've seen clips.

Speaker 7 (52:56):
I see comments of what everybody makes on both sides
of oh it was good, it was the worst ever?

Speaker 3 (53:01):
Oh it was good?

Speaker 7 (53:02):
You know that was the worst I see. I've seen
them all. I did not see it, Triple. Did you
watch it?

Speaker 6 (53:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (53:09):
I watched it. What do you think it was a
great performance?

Speaker 15 (53:11):
Yes, I'm I don't. I don't know like two of
the songs, but it was a great performance. I'm yeah.

Speaker 3 (53:16):
I'll tell you what though.

Speaker 2 (53:17):
Man he.

Speaker 3 (53:19):
He played the song that he wrote as a disc
track on Drake and he sung it in front of
one hundred billion million people and cooked him. I was
indifferent on it. I mean, I thought I was okay.
It wasn't really. I was getting on the show.

Speaker 7 (53:37):
I saw the first like thirty twenty thirty seconds when
they first came out. It was a car on stage, right,
a couple of cars on stage and got out of
the car and I.

Speaker 3 (53:44):
Saw the dancers. I got this in the show.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
I didn't.

Speaker 3 (53:46):
I didn't see it. I thought Snoop Dogg and Doctor
Dre's performance was better a couple of years ago. Still's
not prints. No, no, no, I don't know everybody. Let's
his creed.

Speaker 7 (53:57):
You know, listen, I see yeah, I see every Some
people hate them, some people love them, and some people
are just it's not a big deal.

Speaker 3 (54:06):
Didn't mine.

Speaker 7 (54:06):
I was It's like, well, it's almost like about four
thirty yesterday because I was watching the Waste Management FEEDINGX,
I was like, oh my gosh, that's right, we do
have a Super Bowl. I had less pomp and circumstance
yesterday than I've had. I mean, it just was like
it was just weird. The buzz of the game wasn't its.
It just didn't feel the same. And there are two
great opponents. It was crazy. You know, you watch it

(54:27):
and stuff. But I did not see the halftime show,
so I really alls I'm going by is both and
it's equal to sucked good sucked good. Someone said it
was mid you know, already suggestions to who they want
for next year.

Speaker 3 (54:44):
I didn't see it.

Speaker 2 (54:45):
It was not.

Speaker 7 (54:46):
Yesterday was an odd Super Bowl day. I know everybody
likes fact Chiefs got blown it, but from my viewing, pleasure. Yeah,
I would have preferred a game that it was fourth quarter.
There was never from the middle of this second quarter on. Yeah,
it was never in doubt. It was so that kind
of almost so that kind of almost led to my disinterest.
I mean, it was just like that's halftime show. Wouldn't

(55:08):
matter who I just was at halftime. I had some
other things I wanted to do, so I didn't see it,
And in truth, it wouldn't matter who the performer was.
Yesterday was just I taped it all, you know, I
tape every game to go back and listen to half,
you know, in the Super Bowl and see some cool commercials. Again,
if you missed him, but I did not, I didn't.
I can't comment on performance because I didn't see it.

Speaker 5 (55:30):
I just think whoever, I know, jay Z had a
big say in Kendrick Lamar being the performer, and again
it was okay, Like I don't think it was bad.
I don't think it was good. It was kind of
to me at least that it was just disrespectful. They
didn't have Lil Wayne perform at his hometown of New Orleans.
That would have been the move to make because you
could have brought out all of the local rappers if

(55:50):
that was the genre that you were going with, Because
we've seen We've seen Rihanna, We've seen obviously prints in
the past, we've seen Michael Jackson, We've seen all kinds
of different John genres outside.

Speaker 3 (56:01):
I don't think we've ever had they ever done country
for nowhere along the line they've had to. We've had
hip hop rap, like I said, Michael Jackson and Prince.

Speaker 7 (56:11):
But next year the Super Bowls in San Francisco, I
think Clara Francisco.

Speaker 3 (56:15):
Yep, yeah, the San Francisco. Then I think l A
and then in Vegas again too. No, in the next
three years. It's three venues that you may not I
mean l A, I guess, but that's I grew up there,
so I don't. Yeah, Levi Stadium and then Sofi Stadium.

Speaker 7 (56:33):
There's a third one though, three in a row where
it's like, is it Atlanta? Maybe the third one, which
is fine, Atlanta's I've been to the Super Bowl a
couple of times there.

Speaker 3 (56:40):
Atlanta's yeah, at but that could be Clara Inglewood in Atlanta.

Speaker 7 (56:44):
Right and and Atlanta can be I've been there when
it's been decent weather and also been there in February
when it's been an.

Speaker 3 (56:49):
Ice storm, miserable the whole week. So it just depends.

Speaker 7 (56:53):
But the next three, you know, Santa Clara probably won't
be because you're outside of San Francisco, not going to
get the same everybody's around like the like in New
Orleans or Las Vegas.

Speaker 3 (57:04):
It's it'll be a little bit different.

Speaker 7 (57:05):
You won't get the I'll bet your corporate executive money
won't be the same next year for Super Bowl that
it was. That it is when it's more in close
courts and people love to go places where the executives
can go there and play golf and warm weather and
February and Santa Clara won't actually be it won't act.
You know, it won't be piping hot if you saw
Pebble Beach last week. So but well we'll see. It's

(57:28):
it's i mean, we're getting ahead of ourselves. But those
are the next three. Yeah, and you know you'll probably
get good weather in La but I'm sure they'll all
put on performances. They've you know two all three cities
have had the Super Bowl before, so you know, just
yesterday was it was Yeah, it was just an odd,
odd Super.

Speaker 5 (57:45):
Bowl yeah, to go on to leading at that point,
it's like I I asked, I probably asked you. I
sound like a broken record like it. Last week was
just to oh, by the way, there's a super Bowl
this weekend, and then yesterday I was like, oh, by
the way, it.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
Wasn't like that.

Speaker 7 (58:00):
H but it I get why outside of it, there's
so many factors. Yet you'd go in normally and say, man,
two really good teams, this is gonna be intriguing, and
they took the intrigu.

Speaker 3 (58:09):
Out in hurry.

Speaker 6 (58:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (58:11):
I'll tell you what, man. I ran a couple of
errands after the gym yesterday morning, and I usually do
my grocery shopping on Sundays.

Speaker 5 (58:19):
There was ridiculous everywhere. Target packed, HB packed, Everything was slammed.
I was like, I'm not doing this today. I'm going
back to my I'm going back home, and I'm no,
we're not doing this today.

Speaker 3 (58:29):
Order a za, I did there? You go get off
my grilled dog like you always do. Whoa man? Ll up?
Just go order a za. Yeah, I mean nice uh
nice pie. You know you get pizza too? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (58:46):
Okay, cool?

Speaker 3 (58:46):
Yeah, got some fried cheese you call fried cheese or
cheese sticks.

Speaker 7 (58:50):
I call them mozzarella sticks. What though, that's the only
cheese they put in cheese sticks. You've never had a
cheese stick otherwise?

Speaker 2 (58:58):
Yeah, I have.

Speaker 3 (59:00):
What's been in it?

Speaker 5 (59:01):
Like they have the cheese sticks that are like mixed
with like the mixed cheese. It's not mozzarella.

Speaker 3 (59:06):
The cheese sticks mixed with mixed cheese. You talking about
like a cold one? No, no, no, I'm talking about
like a fried fried cheese I've never had.

Speaker 7 (59:13):
I've never had a cheeset and they may make them.
I have never I've never ordered a cheese stick in
a restaurant in my life that wasn't mozzare They're mozzarella sticks,
cheese sticks. Mozzarella sticks is what they're called. No, they're
not cheddar cheese sticks. So I've never had a non
mozzarella cheese stick. Hold on ever, that stretchy I've never
I've never had one. There may be one out there.

(59:34):
I'm sure somebody's tried it. But in ninety nine percent
of the restaurants you've gone in and ordered cheese sticks,
including the place you've got him, yesterday, it was mozzarella,
not something else. No, yesterday was Mozzarelli. It's why I
had some cheese sticks. Yeah, yeah, but what do you
call them? Their cheese sticks?

Speaker 6 (59:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (59:48):
But what did you call it before? You says cheese?
Fried cheese? No, I don't ever call it fried cheese. Okay,
that's what they have on the menu. Man, I'm just saying,
you know, they may.

Speaker 7 (59:57):
Say fried cheese stick, but I don't think they're saying
just f cheese. And it's a mozzarella stick. That's the
explanation of it. Where I come from, it's corn bread
and chicken.

Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Yeah, that's probably that's probably the issue right there, because
it's just that sun sucks.

Speaker 6 (01:00:12):
Well, I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
I'm thinking of a chicken fried bad where I come from.
His cornbread ye's bad? Yeah, harsh man, I just said,
you go get yourself as on and you like what
you got. You got sideways. You start tripping over cheese
sticks and you when's the last time you had a
Swiss cheese stick? A Swiss I've had that?

Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
Yes, I have.

Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
What's the damn orange cheese I'm thinking of?

Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
Not?

Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
Yeah that Colby Jack there you go, thank you. That's
a mix of white And I said, I've never seen
a Colby Jack cheese before. Uh, it was in Pittsburgh.
Actually it was fantastic. I'm sure it was good. It's
especially but that's just rarely. I could take you to
one hundred restaurants in a row that when you order
cheese sticks. Yeah, I know they're gonna say mozzarella stick.

(01:00:59):
You give me that totally Jack cheese stick. The point
is that it's it's not always mozzarella. What do you
order a hot dog? Does it come deep fried?

Speaker 13 (01:01:10):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:01:10):
You say, give me a hot dog. It's hot dogs,
hot dogs, hot cheese, steak is mozzarella? You mentioned nine
feet percent of the time and the other two percent
you just don't order them. You mentioned velveta. I should
have gone with boil hot dogs a little velveta shells
for dinner yesterday.

Speaker 7 (01:01:23):
But I thought you gonna say you gonna melt velveto
on your hot dog. I say, I got a better
cheese for you, dud.

Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
Don't do that. Put chili, sprinkle some shredded cheese on.
Order a couple of hot dogs right now, if you
guys want them.

Speaker 7 (01:01:34):
Let's go Portillos. So they're not open this early. They
need to still got to get over the Chicago dog
to start to get one on the north side. Please,
we got two over in my no, man, what the
one left one of the right? Stand up, sit down?
Five five fight Yeah, usc baby, Well that's more cheefs
than it is Trojans.

Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
And they didn't have that. Whatever chop they got, they
got you get chopped down. They sure did.

Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
Seven seven. I had a couple guys that want to
get in and talk about the super Bowl. Let's talk
about the text and super Bowl odds. That's next.

Speaker 7 (01:02:05):

Speaker 17 (01:03:07):
Good morning, Brian.

Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
How are you guys?

Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
Good buddy, what's happening?

Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
I watched the whole game Super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
Mm hmmm, proud of you. So I'm talking about what
you think of it?

Speaker 11 (01:03:20):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
Why'd you like it?

Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
It's football?

Speaker 5 (01:03:28):
Yeah, good reason, good reason. We appreciate the call, Brandon.
I I like football too, man, sad it's over. What
are you most excited for now that football season is over?

Speaker 10 (01:03:43):
Is it?

Speaker 9 (01:03:43):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
Golf? Alright?

Speaker 3 (01:03:45):
But yeah, we jumped off playing golf and to playing
golf and watching college football hoops and college basketball hoops,
college football hoops. Yeah, well watch college football players play hoops.
That's the new March Madness, and and shoring my game up.

Speaker 7 (01:04:02):
Golf wise and offseason football. You know, when there's a
story's break could be. You know, I'm not a guy,
like I said, who's a big mock draft guy. You know,
we talk about it the rest of it. But I'm
looking forward to college hoops. The NBA starts to roll on.
We'll get after the you know, the All Star and
all that, we'll get rolling on some serious stuff football,

(01:04:23):
I mean basketball wise, NBA and you know I like
spring and so so I do. And then once March hits,
I'm all about baseball because I'll get either down to
Florida or to more than likely Arizona and March Madness
in Vegas. I think this year for the first time,
I've never gone to a sportsbook on March Madness, at
least on the first weekend. So I'm going to head

(01:04:46):
west and probably do the show out there for a minute.
But as far as sports goes, give me, college hoops
is the thing I'm most excited for right now. And
my golf game, although I'm not going to talk about
it much here because nobody cares about that. But for
me college hoops and then once spring training starts in April,
starts to kick and I'll be thrilled about baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:05:08):
I'll tell you what. We got a big day on Friday,
Fellas big day this Friday. What's Friday? Big Day?

Speaker 15 (01:05:14):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
Valentines? That's how big it is. We didn't know what
it was. Did you have your your Gallentine's Day event
over the weekend or no, I've already started, uh started
my birthday month?

Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:05:26):
Yes, and it's in March. It's in March, a couple days.
I take two months. N nice? Yeah, what do you biscuit?

Speaker 6 (01:05:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (01:05:32):
Or any female that has their birthday? Hey man, it's
birthday month.

Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
For most guys. It's birthday hours. Okay, No, I'm know.
No Galentine's Day event?

Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
What what's what's Friday? Valentine's Day?

Speaker 9 (01:05:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
They come and they go, oh, you'll be my valid.
We beat my Valentine.

Speaker 6 (01:05:49):
I don't.

Speaker 7 (01:05:50):
I can't, but I can't look at you like that
one I have. Let's look down, let's try to get ready,
look away. No, I'm not doing this, hey probably Yeah,
that's so don't bury the lead, is what you're saying. Yeah,
I saw the Galanti's Day is a bunch of girls
going out and celebrating what's about to be. It's like
it's like a wedding or a baby shower, right, but
it's for Valentine's Day. It's the pre it's the it's

(01:06:12):
almost like the I'm gonna go it's girl. It's the
gets the girls night out three nights a week. Yeah, yeah,
that's what I love. Girls have girls night out, like dude, like, hey,
I'll see if'er happy I are four times a week.

Speaker 5 (01:06:24):
There's a group of girls that I went to high
school with that had their Galatine's Day event over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
Have you ever heard the term head ass? I know
a few that have had their head there. Yeah, head ass.

Speaker 5 (01:06:36):
It's it's like it's what the triple the kids are
still staying head Yeah, very head ass, like over the top, obnoxious,
like just and they had like these customs. It's overbearing,
very over They had these custom meat trays like in hearts,
and then they had like.

Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
They all wearing they go out and then they all
come home and spend the night and we're letting they
did it?

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Were they there?

Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
Were they in there like silk pajamas. Yes, were they really? Yes,
with hearts all over them.

Speaker 5 (01:07:07):
And they had these custom meat trays that were designed
in like hearts and bow and arrows.

Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Right now, this is hater hour.

Speaker 7 (01:07:17):
Great you told me, Okay, good, head ass all right, well,
head ass over the top.

Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
They had like them like and they had like their
pink flavored drinks, and like they had like this photo
booth and there was like five of them. They had
a photo booth. Yes, they see each other, and you
know what they're gonna do next one they live next
door to each other. They're gonna do next Tuesday exactly.
They're gonna have martini. I mean it kind of sounds hate.

(01:07:47):
I'm a hater right now. I'm gonna be one too. Yes.

Speaker 7 (01:07:49):
Well, first of all, the holiday itself is over right
because the one way street. Okay, give me a holiday
like Valentine's Day that truthfully, when they say it's a
lover's holiday, no, it's not you. If you don't get
me anything for Valentine's Day, if you if you're married,
I don't care. I really don't care. As a matter
of fact, I love romantic and all that time. But

(01:08:11):
to me, it's like when somebody only gets flowers on
Valentine's Day, that's too that's too obvious. Is give them
give them flowers on a Wednesday, you know, without it
being Oh, it's like it's like doing the lonely work.

Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
Nobody's watching. You know, everybody's watching.

Speaker 7 (01:08:25):
You gotta get flowers. It's it's a commonplace. And I
know the ladies like them and stuff, but it's hater hour. Yeah,
we can hate now, Okay, cool, it's absurd, but you're right.
It's not like they're having them all in town. They
flew in for the one day of any year that
they're celebrating with their besties. It's not my girls, it's
my best eies. When a guy says I'm with my bestie,

(01:08:46):
then you just need to take two weeks off and
bury yourself because you're it's embarrassing.

Speaker 3 (01:08:50):
Don't say that.

Speaker 7 (01:08:50):
Okay, bestie with their besties, and they're gonna four of
them work together. They're maybe in real estate. Two of
them won Wednesday and the title business tour in the
real estate business. One's also uh a lone expert. Yeah,
and then they got two other girlfriends. One owns a
spa and the other one cuts hair, okay. And then

(01:09:12):
the other one's the CEO of like a phenomenal stores
or oil and gas. And then no, and then you'll
get the executive that's the hardcore one that comes in
the suit afterwards and bust balls and probably the best
party or of the group. But it is okay, So
the man get them this Friday. But before then, it's
almost like the Gallaentine's Day has become bigger.

Speaker 3 (01:09:32):
Than the Valentine's Day.

Speaker 7 (01:09:33):
I agree, And I know if you said when do
you guys get do you guys do it three days
a week or the golf course or it's just damn right,
your damn dry right. But the second I bring Brian
pink Heart on the and we're wearing silk pjs.

Speaker 5 (01:09:47):
And then we're stepping off on the on the fifteenth
green to take a picture at the photo boost.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
Okay, So how would you view us, honestly if we
had a not a poker night, but if five dudes
or eight dudes went to the crib and we all
wore flannel pajamas and hung around and play grab ass
and called each other the dust these, I would think
that around and throw more nuts for to go with

(01:10:12):
our girl a few days later. I would think that
you're dating those four dudes, That's what I would think.

Speaker 18 (01:10:17):
Amazing what you're saying. You can say it's okay. I
mean it's okay, it's okay, okay, it's okay, it's okay.

Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
It's okay to do it. I mean it's okay to
do it.

Speaker 16 (01:10:32):
That is.

Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
But see, but dudes, if you saw a dude dude
like they posted online, everybody say, what's wrong with those cats?
The girls do it the lay and the guys are saying,
drink moore, what happens after midnight?

Speaker 14 (01:10:46):
Let us see?

Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
But Gallenti's day. You're right, it's hater hour. Yeah, we're
not done good, So I want to make an hater day.
I'm good because you're right. I saw it all you
see it all over? Yeah. Oh yet then they'll take
a picture thatt week at like that's going on. It's
to say, chicks, gallup, say will you celebrate four times
a week? It's gonna be like Thursday and they're gonna

(01:11:10):
go to like a young entrepreneur, young women's entrepreneur.

Speaker 6 (01:11:15):
Yeah, later that.

Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
They're being happy, how exactly, and it'll be with their
besties right, and somehow I see some posts they're like
in four different cities out of state, like eight days, dude,
I have to We talked about this all the time.
How the hell do you not work, dud? I see
people on social media that vacation more than they breathed. Yeah,
And I'm like, weren't you just in Mexico. Yeah, you

(01:11:38):
were in a golf event. And then now you're in
Now you're in Sonoma Country, wine country, drinking wine. And
then you're with six of your besties. And then you
go to the East Coast and we just saw you
in DC. And then oh, can't believe it.

Speaker 7 (01:11:50):
I'm at I'm at uh, you know something, small island,
Santa Belle Island in Florida.

Speaker 3 (01:11:56):
And then you're in Scottsdale's Phoenix, Cephica.

Speaker 7 (01:11:58):
Yeah exactly, yeah, and then you're having Alline's Day with
eight of your best friends and silk pink pajamas, telling
us how much you miss and love your besties. Yet
tomorrow you're gonna have lunch at a Mexican restaurant and
drinking margarita. I mean one thing I will say, unlike
dudes for the most part, and you got your golf, buddy,
you'll play with Is it?

Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
The ladies? Two things that they'll do?

Speaker 15 (01:12:19):
Is it?

Speaker 16 (01:12:20):
They will?

Speaker 7 (01:12:22):
They do not take seeing their friends for granted. I'm
telling you've made a career out of it.

Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
Dudes will go five about talking to their boys and
they get together on Thanksgiving break and like nothing, They
didn't skip a beat. You'll hear, ladies, where you been?
I miss you? Yeah, I miss you.

Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
I love you.

Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
Where you been?

Speaker 7 (01:12:43):
They were with each other yesterday? And then the dudes like,
my best friends, Hey, man, what have you been doing?

Speaker 6 (01:12:49):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
The last time I saw you months ago, I was
just and you know what.

Speaker 7 (01:12:55):
You pick up the going, grinding, grinding, Yes, yeah, let's
play golf something, Let's get together, suit and you'll have
the same talk the next year and you would have
seen him. He won't be mad that you didn't call
him for four minutes. It's like that's just kind of normal.
They all run together. But where you've been, bestie?

Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:13:15):
Why why I didn't call me? Well, honey, I just
saw you for seven hours. Yes, forever, I love you.

Speaker 6 (01:13:24):
I love you.

Speaker 7 (01:13:26):
Galentine's Days tomorrow. I can't wait, I can't wait. And
they called each other bitches and fect yeah, bitch, now
you sound you don't sound like a female. But yeah,
it's just Gallatine's Day. What's more overrated? Gallon the one

(01:13:48):
with the.

Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
Gas right now? Oh no, I mean both, yes, but
Gallentine's Day is once it's head ass. Yeah once again,
once again.

Speaker 7 (01:13:57):
Will somebody please tell me aside for what's the event
that guys do that's the equivalent of Gallentine's Day?

Speaker 15 (01:14:04):
We just did it yesterday the super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
Dude.

Speaker 7 (01:14:07):
More women are party and having fund at Super Bowl
parties and watching the game and know more about football.
And half the dudes I'll sit with it at a
super Bowl party. They're kicking his ass in a fantasy
league and and and they're the ones that are like,
you're ripping jerseys and pissed off at the yet they
get over it quicker than dudes are. Yeah, I mean
they're going against it, and they hell, how to go
this show? I kick my husband's ass in fantasy league?

(01:14:27):
I guess, no, far more.

Speaker 5 (01:14:29):
I guess if you have like an annual golf trip
or an annual annual casino trip, but but you don't call,
you don't take pictures.

Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
But here's the deal. If you decide to take one
of those, they keep score. I'm gonna going with my
girls on a weekend in New York City. We're gonna
do some shopping.

Speaker 7 (01:14:43):
Yeah, yeah, we're going to We're going down to Florida
for a couple of days, just me and my besties.
So it's the it's oh you did that, It's oh,
then I see and I'll raise you one. There's no equivalent.
If you take a trip on a golf trip, they
get the besties trip for sure. But if they get galentime.
You say you were watching when you get gall the
equivalent galls I want to g okay.

Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
But if you say I'm going to play golf with
the buddies, can I come right along? Hey?

Speaker 5 (01:15:07):
Can I remember you guys went on that golf trip. Yeah,
me and the girls are gonna go to like Charles.

Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
For for a weekend. Yeah, we're just gonna have spaw tree.
Well there's a spa right over here. Oh yeah, that's
not Vega exactly. That's my point is we don't have
the equivalent of gallants. True. True, it's gotten more and
more ridiculous on the Gallentine's Day.

Speaker 7 (01:15:30):
Yep, we're wearing silk pink pjs too and making it
work a little little finger soundches.

Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
Every drink, every drink will have color in it. You're
not allowed to drink. And we're gonna you're gonna have
You're gonna have the frosted Can you give me a
cubid cookies? Little hearts?

Speaker 7 (01:15:50):
I love you growing up with an arrow going through
and we have a gift exchange. I don't know whose
birthday there's been a gift good.

Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
I know we're doing gifts on Gallup that much better.
And well you know, I got a name for it.
But I'll tell you the other time.

Speaker 5 (01:16:06):
I'll tell you the seven one, five, seven nine, Roll
along right here on se Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, all.

Speaker 7 (01:16:19):
Right, you know what I always say, Man, that's a
good one. And then you go the next thing because
you see fifty of them and you're like, what was
my favorite one?

Speaker 3 (01:16:25):
Again? Okay, well let's not do the favorite one? Yeah,
what did you think? What did you think? Just as
a whole? I thought they sucked? Yeah I didn't.

Speaker 7 (01:16:35):
Well, if I can't, if I can't sit here and
tell you the ten of them that stuck out.

Speaker 5 (01:16:39):
And none of them stuck out. We actually don't the one,
the Jeep one, just because of.

Speaker 7 (01:16:44):
The American HARRISONI Yeah, yeah, Harrison Ford. Yeah in the
commercial two man, I mean they paid for one commercial
four mil for that spot.

Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
Well the spot lasted like two minutes. Yeah, that was
the one that stuck out to me.

Speaker 7 (01:16:58):
Uh, they were very good because they're efficient because I
only saw one Jeep commercial.

Speaker 3 (01:17:03):
Was there more than one? No, that one, but it
was a long one. Let's see. I'm thinking of just
as far because from what I remember being a kid,
and like even into my younger years, more beer commercials.

Speaker 6 (01:17:14):
I didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
It felt like I was in a lot of good beer.

Speaker 5 (01:17:16):
Where was where was the humor? Like I just remember
hilarious commercials growing up. I guess maybe because we're in
a different day and age, But I did like the
Beckham and Matt Damon one.

Speaker 3 (01:17:26):
Damn I missed out one. That was a good one.

Speaker 7 (01:17:28):
He talked about it and at the end he goes, yeah,
talk about they've you know, discovered his long lost brother
or whatever, and Beckham and Matt Damon said yes, mentioned
something about oh it's Matt Damon.

Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
He goes, no, it's it's more Ben Affleck.

Speaker 7 (01:17:44):
You know how they're always talking when they're not in commercials,
always referring to the other guy.

Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
I thought that was good. Now that you're asking me, man,
I got to remember the brands, which will remember that
bud Light had a good one with post Malone and
Shane Gillis. But I had seen they had already been
released the week prior, so there was no it lost
its luster. It was good, but like, other than that
was I mean there was there was there.

Speaker 7 (01:18:06):
They're always sending the commercials about the message.

Speaker 5 (01:18:08):
Clysdale, the Budweiser Clydesdale, they had like the little uh,
the little pony. Yeah that the beer keg fell off
and you know that whole thing was good. But other
than that, I just yeah, it was okay. Somebody will
have to remember we have to go through the go
through the list of me. You know there's a list,
and say okay, because they also come out of it.
You'll get the ad meters that come out and say

(01:18:29):
which one was the most loved and watched and worth
their money.

Speaker 7 (01:18:32):
You'll get the ad meters will come out this week
and and tell you about it. I can't remember them all,
even though you see them. There's so many trying to
keep track of them. But that it was it was fine.
I guess it wasn't I've seen better Super Bowl Sunday commercials.

Speaker 5 (01:18:47):
Yeah, I've seen better as well. Hey, real quick before
we get into the eight o'clock hour. Caroline, one of
our listeners, she tweeted me and said, men's comparable to
Gallaentine's Day is the fantasy football draft. In the last
five years, they've both got and completely out of control.

Speaker 3 (01:19:01):
I concur with that. There are some dudes out there
that take that draft so serious.

Speaker 5 (01:19:07):
They'll rent out a room, they'll rent out a bar,
they'll do the whole big board, they'll bring in food
and everything. So I guess that's comparable. It's a good
point our fantasy football draft. We should just show up
to a bar and I bring your laptop. Some guys
are doing on phones, and we drink cold beers and
do it and then go home.

Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
Some of these other dudes they have like music and
walk out songs and dumbass tom foolery. Yeah, we had
to also be not afraid. Sent me this March fourteenth
is steaking, steaking and guy dy do guys how often

(01:19:43):
do you collect on not even No, no one does that.

Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
I don't.

Speaker 7 (01:19:48):
I kind of like that, dare I mean, why would
that day be any different than any like it?

Speaker 6 (01:19:53):
I'm still.

Speaker 7 (01:19:55):
Make March fourteenth a none? Yes, making a Hamburger and
Anne day? Because are we if you only get it
that time might want to up and leave? Are we
still being a hater?

Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
Can? I can?

Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
I still be? I hate as long as you want.
That's taking whatever day is stupid.

Speaker 5 (01:20:08):
It is not real. It's not real. No one celebrates that.
Some people live it every day exactly. It's my whole point,
Like you know what I mean, Like you'd.

Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
On that April day where everybody's like smoking to Chiba
for twenty Yeah, yeah, that's for twenty day.

Speaker 7 (01:20:22):
That's a cheab. But that's that's that's everybody, right, Yeah,
shred and the nar and hit a little gone. So
I don't know, I guess that's it.

Speaker 14 (01:20:32):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
The guy said, which one was our fantasy football draft?

Speaker 6 (01:20:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:20:35):
Caro carolinea that Yeah she did? All right, it's Carol Line.
Yeah yeah she did.

Speaker 7 (01:20:45):
Carolina say if she was a Gallantine's Day or not? No,
she said, both are out of control. Smart great call.

Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
Bar it's actually pretty good because I've seen some fantasy
football drafts. I'm like, dude, what what what?

Speaker 5 (01:20:58):
Yeah, you've got custom meat trays for that fellas go
to a bar drinking customer meat trayce you know about that?

Speaker 7 (01:21:05):
No, I was gonna say, they have custom but they
also get some uh they also get some lunch beat right, Yeah, yeah,
I get that too.

Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
Yeah. What's wrong with me?

Speaker 2 (01:21:17):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:21:18):
Just what's wrong with the peeps?

Speaker 2 (01:21:19):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:21:20):
I know you feel men mhm steaking whatever day?

Speaker 6 (01:21:26):
Huh.

Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
Stupid, It's just stupid. What a bitter beer faced mister
Keystone light? How you doing today? Keith Stone? You ever
heard of him?

Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
I have?

Speaker 16 (01:21:39):
You have?

Speaker 6 (01:21:39):
Great?

Speaker 3 (01:21:40):
He's probably knocked down a couple yesterday, didn't you.

Speaker 7 (01:21:43):
I first time on a Super Bowl Sunday, and maybe
in my life other than when you're well even after that,
like when you were covering them.

Speaker 3 (01:21:52):
Huh, then you have beer later on that that. I
didn't have one beer yesterday, not.

Speaker 6 (01:21:57):
Like you, man.

Speaker 7 (01:21:58):
Oh yeah, it really isn't like me night before with
the kids. But I'd have one Super Bowl sunny, which
is not which is weird. Yeah, I guess that takes
away the buzz more ways than one. See what I
did there, the buzz of the game and little buzz.
It was a nondescript when it came to game and
like the normal pomp and circumstance that goes with it. Yeah,
but congrats to the Eagles because they put it on

(01:22:20):
an impressive show.

Speaker 5 (01:22:21):
Let's get into the eight o'clock hour here on Sports
Talk seven ninety. Got a couple more things that we're
going to dig into over the next two hours. Also,
let's give you your daily Alex Bregmant update. That'll come

Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
John Salisbury, the.

Speaker 4 (01:23:03):
USC true longtime friend, Shown Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (01:23:05):
Ryan Lima, Go Lobos. This is the Sean Salsbury Show.

Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
Sean Salisbury, Brian Lolima, Manuel Elmore. Rockins beat the Raptors.
They're off tonight. Eagles beat the Chiefs. They are your
Super Bowl champions. Pitchers, catchers reporting this week in Major
League Baseball, I've been talking about the Super Bowl Eagles
win forty to twenty two. Jalen Hurts is your MVP.

(01:23:33):
He was seventeen to twenty two, two hundred twenty one yards,
passing two touchdowns one pick. He also rushed eleven times
seventy two yards and a touchdown. Saquon Barkley twenty five
carries fifty seven yards on the flip side of the
Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes did not play well.

Speaker 3 (01:23:51):
He rushed four times for twenty five yards. They only
rushed eleven times for the Kansas City Chiefs. What can
the Texans learn from their playoff loss and then watching
these two teams play in the Super Bowl? Sean?

Speaker 5 (01:24:09):
Is it defense wins championships? Quarterback play, running the football?
What do you think Tomiko Ryans can take from watching
that game last night? If anything.

Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
A message, the message would be.

Speaker 7 (01:24:28):
Get Philadelphia's offensive line, not Kansas City's tune. He playing
out of place. He's a really good guard, but had
to play tackle.

Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
A lot of the season.

Speaker 7 (01:24:38):
Whenever they put him out there to fill in, and
it's tough. It's easier inside on a guy who's used
to playing inside. It's probably a little bit easier to
go from outside to inside than it is from inside
to outside. I think that's the message. Well, you feel
like you've got players in position. I would imagine he
came out of it saying, also, the way that defense

(01:25:01):
that both teams have really but the way Philadelphia, that's
who we want to be. Being able to pressure with
three and four guys without blitzing and still be dominant, impressive,
and still not give up any yards in the run game.
That's a hard thing to do when you're plan you know,
a couple of high safeties and not giving up the
big play, and yet your front seven is still good
enough to dominate in the run game. I don't think

(01:25:24):
the message is personal. I mean, when it comes to
a specific guy, both teams have guys, and that guy
it's situational execution. Chiefs didn't do it last night, and
a lot of it had to do with the physical
message it was sent. So the one message I can
come out of there with the two of them is
on the defensive side of the ball, he's got to
be thinking we're headed in that direction. On the offensive

(01:25:46):
side of the ball, he's got to say, we don't
want to be what Kansas City was, because we've been there,
meaning in that one game offensive line protection it is,
but you know, you're as good as the personnel and
the execution and pressure. And last night the Chiefs didn't
handle it well and the Philadelphia Eagles did And it
started with from the opening snap. The Philadelphia Eagles were

(01:26:08):
far more physical than Kansas City. That's the message in
this whole thing. Yeah, the physicality factor.

Speaker 5 (01:26:13):
I feel like with Demico Ryans and his defense, the
way that Will Anderson and to Neil Hunter play on
the edge, getting a big time defensive tackle right there
in the middle.

Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
Oh Man add that to his defensive scheme.

Speaker 7 (01:26:30):
Yeah, if you can dominate the interior and protect the interior,
dominated on defense, protected on offense, you got a good chance.
And last night Philadelphia did both better.

Speaker 5 (01:26:41):
And then speaking of you know, you talk about offense,
I saw a thing yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:26:46):
Let me find it there my notes here.

Speaker 5 (01:26:49):
Ah, obviously we've I've asked you the question a couple
different times about offensive weapons for the Texans, should they
resign Steffan Diggs. The Texans have to resign stuff on
digs by February seventeenth, or they're going to take a
sixteen point sixty four million dollar cap hit. If they
bring him back, that's going to save them seven million

(01:27:10):
dollars in cap space. February seventeen is right around the corner.
It's seven that's a week from today, it's next Monday.

Speaker 7 (01:27:20):
If they cut him before then or after, no, they
have to resign, outsign, they save cap room, or they'll
take a sixteen and a half million dollar cap hit.

Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
Should should make it a pretty easy decision, right, just
from the money aspect.

Speaker 7 (01:27:34):
A loan, but resign and remember he's a free agent, right,
so what kind of money is he going to command?
But their advantage in this is, I hate to say it, well,
but he played well, but he was hurt, right, and
he's not going to get what he would have got
had he we have seen him stay healthy the full season.
What's the what's the disadvantage of signing him? Veteran was

(01:27:59):
playing well, his name to team captain, has played plenty
of big games, wasn't any headache, and you're not going
to pay him which you'd pay the top three or
four five receivers in the league because he was hurt
and he's no longer the top five, the best receiver
that they and they're gonna use that against them negotiations
that Nico Collins is the one and I get it,
and then all the money you're gonna lose if you

(01:28:19):
cut him the decision now, they're not gonna be. It
depends on what he thinks he's still worth, but I
would imagine that he's and if he loves it as
much as he kind of indicated, then he'll then then
you'll see him back here. I don't know why he'd
want to leave. I don't either, unless they lowball him
to the point of where he's like this is ridiculous,

(01:28:40):
hurt or not stop it.

Speaker 3 (01:28:42):
I would like to think they're not going to do that. Yeah,
you've got to get it done.

Speaker 5 (01:28:45):
I guess maybe the concern will be just him coming
back at his age and with the ACL surgery. Maybe
that would be a concern, But not my concern or
you're concerned. I'm just saying, yeah, I might be something
to look at.

Speaker 7 (01:28:55):
But acls these this day and age did I'm being
honest about it, are different now. They they are. They're
different guys come back faster. If you said he's coming
back from a second Achilles injury or something like that,
I'd be concerned, Yeah, and knee injury. Those guys are well,
there's a reason they're elite at their their their careers,
and that's what they do. I wouldn't anticipate the need

(01:29:17):
being a problem for for Steff on Digs Steph Diggs.

Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
I would like to bring him back prices, right, I
think that that you're probably gonna see that, dude. You
saw the the production that he had in those first
what six games? Yeah, I did a nice job, man,
he would have he would have ended up a thousand
yard receiving I bet a Nico Collins both man. So yeah,
I would definitely, uh, I would definitely look at bringing
stuff on Digs back. All right, let's as the Super
Bowl concluded that last night, some early odds for the

(01:29:46):
next Super Bowl winner came out. What did the Texans land?
And who else is on this list? We'll discuss the

Back to the Sean Salisbury Show on Sports Talk seven
ninety sports your astroids, your rockets, your voice.

Speaker 5 (01:31:27):
See where the Texans land on this list? It's talked Andy, Andy,
good morning.

Speaker 14 (01:31:32):
Uh the list where Texas winning Super Bowl next year?
Probably uh fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
To one, no.

Speaker 14 (01:31:42):
Worse, No, oh my god, but might have to take
that bet. Hey you said you'd like to bring Gags back?

Speaker 2 (01:31:53):
Uh, we both do.

Speaker 3 (01:31:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:31:55):
Yeah, it's when it turns thirty two next year. Him
off a major injury, and he's gonna want a lot
of money because this is gonna be the last time,
last big sizable contract that he's ever gonna get.

Speaker 5 (01:32:10):
Yeah, that's why I said, if the if the money's right,
because you look at it, well, I guess, uh, T
Higgins is going to be T Higgins is going to
be just as expensive.

Speaker 3 (01:32:18):
He's just younger. That's another wide receiver they could look at.
He's going to be more expensive. T Higgins.

Speaker 2 (01:32:24):
Would you pay?

Speaker 14 (01:32:25):
Would you give TI? Would you give Higgins? Three million
more a year for three years, ten million more for
three years over Digs for two years contract.

Speaker 3 (01:32:35):
Well you got to look at what the cap HiT's
going to be on Digs as well.

Speaker 14 (01:32:39):
Yeah, well I thought Digs was I thought he's some
Digs was a free agent.

Speaker 3 (01:32:44):
Yeah, him and t Higgins are both free agents.

Speaker 14 (01:32:47):
Yeah, so there's no cap pit with no free agent.

Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
Right, Well, if you sign him as what we're saying,
what would be the cap that if you sign him?

Speaker 7 (01:32:54):
No, but you see you had said that if you
don't sign him, the cap hits seventeen million dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:33:00):
That's what you had said. That's what Andy's responded. Oh
you're talking about just now.

Speaker 7 (01:33:05):
Now you you you were you said, because there is
no cap hit on a free agent if he's under
contract and you you have decided and you decide to
cut him. Is that what you're talking about? Because it's
what kind of cap hit is there on a free agent?

Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
Well, that's why the date is important, So don't check
the date.

Speaker 2 (01:33:23):
Yeah, I don't think.

Speaker 14 (01:33:24):
But what I say, Jaggs is a free agent, so
there's no cap.

Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
Pit, right. There is there an option on there that
the Texans.

Speaker 7 (01:33:33):
But if I thought they redid his contract last year
for a one year deal, So you can't take a
cap hit on a guy who leaves on his own
on a as a free agent if you cut.

Speaker 3 (01:33:42):
Him before next week. Maybe that's it. I don't know
what what what where you read?

Speaker 7 (01:33:48):
But yeah, as a free agent when a guy leaves, like,
there's gonna be no cap hit on t Higgins when
he leaves if he if he leaves Cincinnati, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:33:55):
If they failed to extend him by February seventeenth, Houston
will take on a sixteen point sixty four million dollar
depth dead cap hit losing losing him.

Speaker 3 (01:34:03):
How is that possible?

Speaker 2 (01:34:04):
Though?

Speaker 3 (01:34:04):
It's on spot track, I'm trying to figure out how.
So there's something in the contract when they gave him
one year deal. What says it?

Speaker 7 (01:34:12):
Because if a guy's a free agent and leaves, why
would the team have to take a cap.

Speaker 3 (01:34:17):
Because it's a whatever the dead cap a part of
the bonus. I don't and maybe maybe it does the
spot track.

Speaker 7 (01:34:29):
Yeah, if that's the case, that there's some quirk in
the contract that says you're taking a sixteen seventeen million
dollar caphit and the guy can leave on you as
a as a full unrestricted free agent. I don't remember
that happening very often unless there's something in a contract
that states it's a negotiating period and if you don't
do it, because if it's a sixteen or seventeen million

(01:34:50):
dollar cap hit, and you almost have to keep him.

Speaker 5 (01:34:53):
So yeah, you're okay, yeah, so in the contract, yeah,
so this is why. So in his contract when they
revise it to a one, in your contract that is
defer is a deferred sixteen point six film sixteen point
six four million.

Speaker 3 (01:35:06):
Dollars bonus of some kind. Right, That's that's twenty twenty
five league year salary cap.

Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
Right.

Speaker 7 (01:35:10):
So that's what I was saying in that contract when
he because normally an unrestricted free agent, there is no capit.
But if there was something in it that he gave
they gave up when they decided to rip up his
current contract before he came here, that would have kept
him here regardless unless they cut him. That there's a
there's got to be a clause or a quark, like
I said, in the contract that says we have this
amount of time to do it, or since the deferred

(01:35:32):
money still applies to the contract, then that's when the contract.
So yes, if they don't sign him before next week,
they're going to take on seventeen million dollars. It almost
that clause almost puts pressure when he signed. It puts
pressure on the Texans to not allow it to kind
of hang around and leave him out there hanging. So
that's a that's a tough clause in the contract.

Speaker 5 (01:35:51):
Yeah, So in that contract they both agreed on February seventeen,
twenty twenty five, they would have to come to a
new agreement and if it doesn't occur, that's gonna uh,
it'll be void. And it leaves Houston with sixteen point
six four million dollars in dead money.

Speaker 14 (01:36:06):
Well, that just means we got to forget looking at Higgins.
They can't have that much dead money. I mean they can,
but that's not good moving forward, especially with Anderson and
CJ in a couple of years coming up.

Speaker 7 (01:36:20):
Yeah, that's that sneaky class because on a true unrestricted
free agent it wouldn't happen. But because it's deferred money,
it applies to the cap.

Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
You know.

Speaker 14 (01:36:26):
There you go, oh, well, well you forget looking at
Higgins then, because look for them to probably sign him
for a couple of years. And yeah, I don't think
we'll just sign him for a year. I think he'll
walk these two or three years contract. Hey, and the
only other people I see on that free agent list
is uh is is a Edwards and fat of Colosey,

(01:36:48):
and I guess I would go I would sign Barnett
for backup and Murray as a backup. But they're gonna
have to go get it. I can't believe Jimmy Warren's
got another year. You know, he hasn't really given us
much since he's been here.

Speaker 3 (01:37:03):
Dude can't ever stay healthy either, man.

Speaker 14 (01:37:05):
Yeah, I know that's it. You can't stay healthy. Plus
when he's on the field, he hell, I like bullet
now is a safety better than him?

Speaker 6 (01:37:14):
Right now?

Speaker 7 (01:37:15):
Well you should Bullocks and Bullock's a better player at
the bullocks A Bullocks said, Bullock and Petrie are your safeties.
Bullock's a better player, you.

Speaker 14 (01:37:25):
Know, Sean, I think you know it's gonna be a
heavy offense in the free agency and uh the draft.
It's gonna be a heavy offense. That's the damn sure,
especially if they signed the two tackles back. And because
you're gonna have Autry, you got autry back for another year.
So the defense is besides getting a safety, the defense

(01:37:47):
is pretty much set.

Speaker 4 (01:37:50):
Right.

Speaker 3 (01:37:50):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:37:51):
I to me, there's not a lot of you'll always
ad depths, but there's not a lot of there's not
a lot of weaknesses on that defense.

Speaker 3 (01:37:57):
I would agree.

Speaker 14 (01:37:59):
And now with and now with Digs, it's pretty safe.
It's gonna be a tied end or it's gotta be some.

Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
Kind of guard that.

Speaker 3 (01:38:14):
And that works for me, both of them do I'm
with you?

Speaker 14 (01:38:17):
Yeah, and they and they gotta let Mason go real quick.
We're going to get a hit on this contract too, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:38:23):
That's I want to say, that's coming up in June though.
Who's who's a shack? Saquille Nelson, Jack Mason? I call him?

Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
Call him?

Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
I did say, sha Kill appreciate the calling, thanks, Andy,
I call him Shaquille Mason. I want to say, it's
coming up in June. So they got a little leeway there,
They got a little bit there. Yeah, Aaron Rodgers is
out there now too.

Speaker 6 (01:38:43):
Him.

Speaker 3 (01:38:43):
No, but there'll be somebody who does, like Adam is
probably gonna be moved as well from uh think about
this were him and Aaron Rodger a gonna go together,
you know, I mean the forty nine ers really have
the guts to go get Aaron Rodgers and sit down
and get in and sit pretty down. No, for the
of I've heard the talk.

Speaker 7 (01:39:01):
I'm trying, Oh yeah, that's pretty im just for one year,
go get Aaron Rodgs like they werealking about getting Braimember one. Brady, Yeah,
Brady before I went to Tampa a right talked about that.
And I'm trying to think who was the other big
dog that we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:39:15):
Miles Garrett wants a trade, Cooper Cup wants another trade. Well,
would you take on he doesn't want to trade, But
would you take Aaron Rodgers or draft a quarterback? Knowing
that Watson's banged up, you have two hundred and thirty
million with that pick. Are you taking Shader Sanders reward?
Or would you go get Rogers, save a little there
and use that first pick for another player? Well, now

(01:39:36):
that I know that Miles Garrett wants to out wants out,
if you're I would probably get draft a quarterback?

Speaker 7 (01:39:41):
Yeah, and then and let it's it's time for them
to try to build their future. I think so, because
you'll have to do it all over again when Rogers
is done. And yeah, I don't know where he's gonna
end u buddy, Aaron Rodgers. Where, Yeah, where could he
end up?

Speaker 3 (01:39:53):
Raiders?

Speaker 7 (01:39:53):
New Orleans Raiders, Oh oh, Oakland Raiders last very perfect.
You get Pete Carroll, got a veteran, he's seen him play,
Kelly chip Kelly. Even though you're not going to get
a lot of RPO, it'll be the quick passing game.
And he gets to go to Vegas. It's golf. He
loves golf. Aaron Rodgers does. I don't know if they're
going to bring Deavonte Adams back, but maybe they could
if he wanted to go back to the Raiders and
be with Aaron again. But it seems logical because they

(01:40:16):
got money. He's a veteran. They need a quarterback, you
need a little splash. I would expect him to play
better than he did last year because he did not
play well. And maybe that's how chip Kelly gets this
offense high powered, although I know chip Kelly would like
a quarterback that has a little bit better feet. I'm
talking about the extends plays a little bit more. But
Rogers is an elite passer, as we well know. Yeah,
I said, New Orleans Dove keep forgetting about Derek Carr.

Speaker 3 (01:40:38):
Well, do you talk about a salary captain?

Speaker 7 (01:40:40):
If you were to get rid of Derek Carr, it's
like a fifty million plus a capit. So you talk
about a hamstring ship pulled and yanked. The only hamstring worse.
I mean, well, this is the worst ham string because
fifty million plus against the cap. The only other two
guys that are worse situations are Joelmbiid and Anthony Davis.
Because what a shock. Both of them are hurt again.

(01:41:00):
You just saw that, Like, yeah, both of them are
hurt again. Embiid may have to have what surgery? Yeah,
and he's what's his groin for Anthony Davis?

Speaker 16 (01:41:08):
Just like that.

Speaker 7 (01:41:09):
I just dude, it's it's it's the biggest guarantee in
sports that Embiid and Anthony Davis will miss half their
games every year, half the games of their career is embid.

Speaker 3 (01:41:20):
Think about that.

Speaker 7 (01:41:22):
And the big other guarantee is if you wanted a
security blanket, have a fifty million dollar plus or whatever
cap hit if you're Derek Carr about having to stay
with somebody. Yeah, and that's what Kellen Moore is going
to lead that team because he is going to get
hired by the Saint. And I won't be shocked if
it's not today or tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (01:41:36):
Did you see that they protested outside of American Airlines
Arena in Dallas about about it's about Luca trade being traded.
They had to put a personal security detail on the GM.

Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
I saw that. Yeah, it's not popular anyway. I'll be damn.

Speaker 7 (01:41:54):
He goes HiT's for like scores twenty six and then
gets hurt. That's supreme talent. They can only give you
a little bit of time. Yeah, each year and each game.
Go figure, this crazy is crazy. Let's get to break
here on seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (01:42:06):

way and then boom they can jump in. But when
you had expertise that is transparent and wants for your portfolio,
what you want now, what they want?

Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
What you want, and then you're onto something. You saw
the preparation.

Speaker 7 (01:42:50):
It looked to me like the Philadelphia Eagles had prepared
for this game like they were preparing for retirement. And
it looked like they prepared thirty years to this because

And we're vapid for the Sean Salisbury Show continues. Pick six,
first career interception on his birthday.

Speaker 5 (01:44:05):
It's a basic white guy making it happen, giving hope
to all the little white guys out there.

Speaker 7 (01:44:13):
That's what you're thinking. Yeah, you're not used to why
do you make it that play in the secondary and
then taking it to the hiszy, Yeah, it was a
nice brother. Saquon had his birthday yesterday too.

Speaker 14 (01:44:25):
He did.

Speaker 3 (01:44:26):
That's how a white man runs a football.

Speaker 7 (01:44:28):
There, he goes a couple of good celebration and a
nice way to that's about as good a birthday gift
as you'll get pick six for a touchdown, and the
after this great year getting a victory as well.

Speaker 5 (01:44:40):
Look at some Super Bowl odds for next year. Who
do you think number one is? Philadelphia Eagles correct plus
six hundred.

Speaker 3 (01:44:49):
I would not put the Chiefs in the top three.
All right, who's your top five?

Speaker 15 (01:44:53):
Them, the Ravens, and then possibly right now, right.

Speaker 7 (01:44:58):
Now, the top five in no particular order, particularly Buffalo, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Baltimore, Philadelphia,
Kansas City will be in the top five. Buffalo, Baltimore, Philadelphia,
an FC, Yes, Detroit, Yes, I I wouldn't put him

(01:45:18):
in the top five. Wise, Yes, they lost too many coaches.

Speaker 3 (01:45:21):
They lost all their coach I was thinking I'd put
them in the top three if everybody was back. I'm
not going to do that. I would probably I love them.
I would put the Bengals in the top five.

Speaker 7 (01:45:30):
I would too, But my problem is until they learned
how to they fired their defensive coordinators, so they got
to get better. There the Burrow Chase things say, of
course you would do we expect the forty nine ers
to rebound. Maybe it's the Chargers that are going to
elevate the fifth one Washington. Yeah, but if the four
are easy for me, yeah, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Buffalo, and they're

(01:45:55):
going to put Kansas City in because of their reputation,
how good they've been, and then I would probably go
the fifth one. Detroit's talent says yes. All the loss
says no. Out west, out east. I'm sure forty nine
Ers will be back in the talk.

Speaker 3 (01:46:16):
But they were.

Speaker 7 (01:46:16):
They were putrid at times this year, the Steelers, but
they need a quarter. They may they may have to
part with both Fields and Wilson and go find somebody
that next. Maybe Aaron Rodgers is in next Pittsburgh. As
a matter of fact, that okay, Rogers, Wilson or Fields.

Speaker 3 (01:46:31):
Who do you want for one year next year?

Speaker 7 (01:46:36):
Probably Aaron Rodgers, Yeah, without question, regardless what happened this year,
he's better than both of them. So don't be surprised
if they entertained that I don't know who we're leaving out.

Speaker 5 (01:46:47):
Well, it's I mean, it comes down to so it's six,
So it's the it goes Eagles, Chiefs, Bills, Ravens, Lions,
forty nine Ers.

Speaker 3 (01:46:57):
There's your top.

Speaker 7 (01:46:57):
See, i'd have the forty nine ers because of the
all the losses for Detroit's coaching staff. Although I love
Detroit's talent, so I get while they're five four and
five or five and six either one, But I I
don't Kansas City's too high at number two. Yeah, I
don't know how they're not winning twelve one score games
next year. I would put the Bills or Ravens at one. Yeah, oh,

(01:47:20):
no doubt, Yeah I should.

Speaker 3 (01:47:22):
After the forty nine Ers, it's the Bengals, the Commanders,
the Packers. That's your U. And then where do I
leave off?

Speaker 5 (01:47:30):
The Rams come in at plus twenty eight hundred, then
the Chargers and the Texans at plus three thousand, plus
three thousand, Buccaneers at plus thirty five hundred, Broncos, Vikings, Bears, Cowboys, Seahawks,
and then it goes through the rest Steelers, Dolphins, Falcons,
and the bottom of the barrel, the team with the
worst odds.

Speaker 3 (01:47:51):
Who do you think it is? Team with the worst odds? Browns?

Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
Who'd you say?

Speaker 15 (01:47:57):
I'll said the Bears, I know, Sean said the Browns.

Speaker 5 (01:48:00):
You gotta remember, Bears got Caleb Williams, they got a
brand new coach and Ben Johnson. They're gonna have some
decent odds Browns.

Speaker 3 (01:48:06):
It's the Browns plus twenty three plus excuse to me,
plus twenty thousand. Giants also at plus twenty thousand, they
were gonna be my second choice. The first one in
the NFC would have been the Giants. Titans also down
there as well.

Speaker 7 (01:48:22):
Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for Tennessee next year.
The Jets have some pretty good talent, not I mean,
they're just ross.

Speaker 3 (01:48:29):
They've got athletes all over the place.

Speaker 7 (01:48:30):
Man, they may finish lower depending on who the quarterback is,
but I don't think they'll finish low enough to be
the lad to the first pick. But until the Titans
find the guy they want and for sh in Cleveland
scrambled the quarterback. Miles Garrett once that when your star,
your best player, starts asking to be traded, it's that
is amazing. That's the most expensive rebuild in the history. Yeah,

(01:48:55):
of guaranteed money.

Speaker 5 (01:48:56):
Yeah, the Saints plus fifteen thousand, Jets plus fifteen thousand,
Panthers at plus thirteen thousand. So oh, and then the
Colts right there at plus eleven thousand. So you got
the Colts, the Titans where the Jags at, Oh, and
the Jags right there too. So the AFC South, it's
the Texans and then everybody else pretty much bottom of
the barrel outside of the Texans with these Super Bowl odds.

Speaker 3 (01:49:21):
So we'll see how it goes to.

Speaker 5 (01:49:23):
This is gonna be interesting offseason, man, not just for
the Texans, but for a lot of teams like the Bengals,
like they've they've got some decisions they've got to make.
Trey Hendrickson is gonna make a lot of money. Are
you gonna try to bring back t Higgins? Jamar Chase
gonna be making a lot of money at some point,
more than he already is. So that's that's one team. Philadelphia,

(01:49:44):
they're pretty much set. Kansas City. Is Travis Kelcey gonna retire?

Speaker 2 (01:49:48):
You know?

Speaker 13 (01:49:48):
Is?

Speaker 3 (01:49:49):
Or is he gonna try to come run it back
one more year?

Speaker 6 (01:49:51):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:49:52):
If the one I wonder if he had left, Yeah,
you would have if if he would have proposed and
he would have retired.

Speaker 7 (01:49:57):
If it's if they would have been more inclined to
stay if they lost and leave if they want or
the other way around, more inclined to say, Okay, we
got our two.

Speaker 3 (01:50:06):
We didn't win three in a row. I've got my rings.
It's time for me to move on.

Speaker 7 (01:50:10):
Which his next move will be try to be an
actor and in the movie, in movies and broadcasting. That's
obvious because he already does a podcast. Or will they
come back and say, no, no, I'm not walking out
like that. I'm gonna go back and try to get
one more and then get out. It won't be long,
it won't, but you be like this for long.

Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
Brian. You got to stop. Why are you sitting down
on that depressing because I heard it coming in and
it's like, gosh, day man pressing man.

Speaker 7 (01:50:35):
D Rock was was bringing you down a little bit. Huh,
letting those kids. It won't be like this for long,
So we got to enjoy that. You gotta enjoy the journey, Brian.
Let it be a lesson for you. You talked about
what the Texans have learned about the lesson super Bowl.
Is it let Darius Rucker.

Speaker 3 (01:50:47):
Be a lesson to you? Is it the destination or
is it the journey?

Speaker 7 (01:50:51):
Now, the journey is always better than the destination because
once you hit the destination, you're already thinking about your
next journey. Yeah, on the journey, you're only thinking about
the destination. I mean, you're thinking about the journey, but
the destinations in your view. When you get to the destination,
you're already thinking about the view of the next journey.

Speaker 6 (01:51:04):
Nut.

Speaker 7 (01:51:05):
That's why we got to enjoy the winds and sometimes
he's gonna blow away the losses.

Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
You feel me?

Speaker 3 (01:51:09):
How's my motivational? Cheesy scuse?

Speaker 2 (01:51:11):
Man? I like you.

Speaker 3 (01:51:11):
Yeah, I'm ready to go work out many you know
you mentioned Aaron Rodgers. So the Jets informed Aaron Rodgers
in a meeting last week that they're going to be
moving on from him. He flew, uh flew out to
meet Woody Woody uh w john I was gonnall him
Woody Rogers, Woody Johnson and to discuss his future and
what the next season could look like with the Jets.
And they said, by the way, we're not gonna You're

(01:51:34):
not gonna be our quarterback. Do you think they call
him Woody or Woodrow Woodrow? I think so too, that
should what would you call him wood? Would I call
him big Wood? Big Wood?

Speaker 6 (01:51:42):
Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:51:44):
Yeah, after you signed the contract, you go big Wood,
big Yeah. As I hit my mic, did what happened
to you sometimes. Man, you're good. Yeah, I'm a right
little brecky put it this morning. Yeah, man, I'm about

Speaker 7 (01:52:01):

Yeah cool, thanks man.

Speaker 3 (01:52:06):

bring out the green in my eyes, doesn't it. You

Speaker 7 (01:52:12):
Yeah, chick couterie board? Oh, who doesn't you kidding me?
I like a good char couterie Yeah, I mean, don't

Speaker 3 (01:52:20):

don't you like gals? I love a good charcuterie board.

Speaker 7 (01:52:28):

little hyperbolic? Yeah, you're in a hater day, right, hater day?
Yeah for sure? All right, football season is over. You're
low pissed off because you're already this tiuntry.

Speaker 3 (01:52:41):

Speaker 7 (01:52:43):
Well we don't won't be boring here, We'll make it fun.
You're a little down on the bragman thing. God, you
know you're looking for braggy bombs and stuff. Don't say that, Sean,
Just don't say that.

Speaker 6 (01:52:53):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
How is he still a free agent? He's they offered
him eight eight million a year for three years. They
want to pay twenty four million. Whoever it is.

Speaker 7 (01:53:02):
We'll give you twenty four million for three years, we'll
guarantee it, and we'll give you an opt out after
the third year. Beat he gets only a three year contract.
I don't know what's going on, man, I know the
peeps are start to get into the crib. The peeps
are on the way to the crib, right, Yeah, there's

That was That was great, man.

Speaker 1 (01:57:45):
But nah, man, I want to get my hats out,
take my hat off, and thank the Philadelphia Eagles for winning.

Speaker 2 (01:57:51):
That way win.

Speaker 1 (01:57:52):
Gotta hear the BS on the Four Letter Network about
now a four peete all off season and all next year.
Thank god, they just dismantled, showed them what they were
supposed to do, and showed the how Kansas City just

(01:58:13):
got lucky all year long. But you know, we were
all talking last night. Something happened with Poteco Jenko when
he got hurt earlier in the season, the middle of
the season, and they went out and got Kareem Hunt
I don't know if he got an any dog cass
or what. But when Pochenko came back, he got used sparingly.

(01:58:39):
He was not used like he normally is. And you
know in there three down back and and all that,
and I'm kind of curious of if he's not gonna
be now.

Speaker 2 (01:58:50):
Uh looked at and moved on like they did with
Edwards Claret in.

Speaker 3 (01:58:59):
The past, flied Edwards a lair you mean.

Speaker 2 (01:59:05):
You know what I mean? Just like just like just
like Derek Cole last week, Derek, who.

Speaker 3 (01:59:14):
You're You're mistaken it from Maurice Clorette.

Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
No, I ain't thinking of that, man, I'm thinking of
the dudes when they let you well t J.

Speaker 1 (01:59:21):
Strauss No, okay, hey, no, be honest, seriously, notes Corette,
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (01:59:31):
But Chaco he got in the doghouse.

Speaker 3 (01:59:33):
Do you think but Checker got in the doghouse?

Speaker 2 (01:59:36):
I heard se back there.

Speaker 7 (01:59:37):
Uh what I said, So what the hell are we
talking about? That's what I said, Yeah, what the hell
are we talking about? Here's what the hell we're talking about.
It either something injury wise kept him in the dog
kept him from performing, or because he went from their
thumper and dominant place, you know, with the guy you
thought this our future back to. They had to go
out and get a guy and bring him back in

(01:59:59):
Kareem Hunt was a who was there?

Speaker 3 (02:00:00):
Number one back?

Speaker 7 (02:00:01):
Yeah, someone you don't just you know, fall off the
face of the earth without something going on, whether it
was an injury the rehab part of it, or meetings
or didn't or something was missing from it something, Yeah,
because they they completely he was just a guy in
about warm body in the building the last handful of
parts of the season and yesterday, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (02:00:22):
Yeah, and with Billy just controlling the line in four
man rush.

Speaker 6 (02:00:28):
That was.

Speaker 1 (02:00:29):
That was unbelievable because then after the game we flipped
over to the three letter, not the four letter.

Speaker 2 (02:00:36):
We flipped over to the three letter. You talk about laughing,
I'll tell you what man ya should have heard.

Speaker 1 (02:00:43):
I don't know if y'all saw it or not, but
man Slay got up there and then Jalen got up there, and.

Speaker 2 (02:00:50):
You talk about talking some noise. They were going off,
and it was funny.

Speaker 1 (02:00:59):
Because of how everybody had been ragging on Jayalen and
everything all year long, but uh, yeah, it was.

Speaker 2 (02:01:05):
It was I'm glad, I'm glad. I feel they got it.

Speaker 6 (02:01:08):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:01:08):
That way, we don't have to.

Speaker 1 (02:01:09):
Talk about it all. We don't have to hear about
it all year, all off season. You know, I don't
know what happened, but they got their butts handed to them.
And you know, just like Brian, you know about those
you know, just like the lady. You know, you know
what I mean, Bron Yea, we.

Speaker 3 (02:01:27):

Speaker 5 (02:03:57):
Gilbert A. Renas in his podcast, they who was the
dude Finley? Who's Finley is Michael Finley? Is he with
the Mavericks in their front office or something?

Speaker 7 (02:04:06):
He used to be a big time Mavericks player. Shoot
what longtime player during their championship run?

Speaker 10 (02:04:12):
He was?

Speaker 3 (02:04:13):
He was a part I mean? Or was he there
for the championship? It was Jason Kid. Yeah, Finley was
a big part of.

Speaker 5 (02:04:20):
Okay, So Michael Finley is the guy in that video
after they made it to the championship, the Mavericks.

Speaker 6 (02:04:28):
He's the guy.

Speaker 5 (02:04:30):
He's the guy in the video that takes the beer
from Luca. Yes, Michael Finley is the guy that did
what a what a what a what a jackass? You
just made it to the NBA Finals and you're gonna

Speaker 6 (02:04:43):
Come on, dog?

Speaker 3 (02:04:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:04:44):
So, uh, Gilbert Arenas on his podcast, him and all
all the all the former MBIA players. I don't know
who was on his podcast, but I just thought they
tore into Michael Finley for doing that a couple days ago.

Speaker 3 (02:04:55):
They clowned his ass.

Speaker 2 (02:04:57):
And I see.

Speaker 7 (02:04:59):
Kwon Barkley got a beer last night? You did, having
good time with the fellows. What's wrong with that?

Speaker 3 (02:05:03):
Nothing wrong with it? Celebrate away yeah, oh it's what
it got to be. Optics.

Speaker 7 (02:05:08):
We don't nobody see you taking a drink? Well, then
turn close your eyes. Yeah, I mean celebration. You know
they may never go back. No, the problem won't you
never know? It's hard to do, man.

Speaker 3 (02:05:19):
Now with Anthony Davis, Oh.

Speaker 7 (02:05:20):
I was even talking about the Philadelphia Eagle. That's a
hard time to even as talents as they are, it's
hard to get back right. And when you say that,
the two teams that were in it have been multiple
Super Bowls, but it's still not that easy.

Speaker 2 (02:05:31):
It's just not.

Speaker 6 (02:05:33):
Yeah and beer.

Speaker 3 (02:05:35):
Yeah, dude, what do you baginally right from? And said, dude,
get that, give it back? Can I get mines?

Speaker 6 (02:05:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:05:40):
You know what I'm saying. Ridiculous, man, Yeah, stupid? All right.

Speaker 5 (02:05:44):
Major League Baseball getting ready to spring training, getting ready
to kick off in a couple of days. Your astros
are reporting this Thursday, and I think, if I'm not mistaken,
the first full workout five days after on the eighteenth,
Alex Bragman, you're ready for the update.

Speaker 3 (02:06:00):
How many times you got to tease me? I only
teach you once. I mean this is twice.

Speaker 7 (02:06:05):
The bottom line is good tease though, But my guess
is that there's no change.

Speaker 5 (02:06:10):
There's no change. He's still a free agent. There was
a report over the weekend that the Detroit Tigers have
offered him a six year deal. I don't know the
money aspect of it, but it's a six year deal.
But the report is he doesn't want to go there, damn.

Speaker 3 (02:06:26):
So where do you want to go? You want to
go play in the Kboh did you say the KBO? Yeah?
Maybe he does.

Speaker 6 (02:06:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:06:37):
I don't know what his I don't know what he's if.

Speaker 7 (02:06:41):
This is just strictly him doing all this deciding like
I don't want to go there, I want to go there?
Does he really think there's two hundred million dollars waiting
on him?

Speaker 3 (02:06:49):
Yeah, that's why he's still a free agent. I think
this offensive production is not good enough for two hundred
million dollars. He's about to be thirty one.

Speaker 7 (02:06:57):
Good player, been a great player at times. Offensive production,
he's he's just in the middle of the pack guy
right now. If you combine slugging OPS, batting average RBIs,
he's a defensively elite.

Speaker 3 (02:07:16):
Right now.

Speaker 7 (02:07:17):
And even his eye, which has been elite, was not elite.
Last year walked forty plus times. He used to walking
over one hundred. That's the first sign that something's not right,
in my opinion, with the swing, the decision making, hand,
eye coordination, command of the plate, which has been elite,
command of the plate in the strike zone, the guy
has always had it well. In this situation, he can't.

(02:07:40):
He's asking for something. The last few years he has
not earned offensively. He's just a guy offensively. It's sad
to say, but for the numbers say since that he's
been just a guy. Now that's not feel like he's
on base percentage and all. That's usually you know, at
the top of the league, and he's right there because
because of his eye. But the only one Alex Reregman

(02:08:01):
walked like a guy who has zero command of the plate.
Last year forty four times. You should get that, and
he had like six hundred bats so to me, I mean,
I get it, and I want him back. But just
if he can, if he's holding out for two hundred million,
why would you pay it now you'reah bidding against anybody.

Speaker 5 (02:08:19):
It's two hundred million just gonna fall out of the
sky for him, and in the next two weeks.

Speaker 7 (02:08:22):
Now, that's a forty four million dollar increase from the
Astros have offered him, at least on the original offer.

Speaker 5 (02:08:27):
Everything that I've read or heard is six for one
fifty six has been the best offer. And that's amongst
five teams that are apparently bidding for him Red Sox,
Blue Jays, Tigers, Cubs, Astros.

Speaker 3 (02:08:45):
Five teams.

Speaker 7 (02:08:46):
Let me make a point, real clear, five teams that
aren't willing to get off the offer. Biddings of the bidding.
I know what you're saying, but I love that you
said it. Biddings. That's a loose term, buddy, because if
they were bidden, they'd be going back and forth with urgent.
You say, oh, one sixty, I'll give it, okay, one
sixty five, one seventy one. Sea. This isn't a bidding war. Yeah,

(02:09:07):
this is take what you hear is our offer.

Speaker 2 (02:09:10):
Take it.

Speaker 7 (02:09:11):
But nobody's gonna sniff if they now, at this stage
of the game give him two hundred million, they'll be
a reason somebody something happen. I mean, you just why
would you add all that money when you're negotiating against
your own your own team, five teams that are bidding
for him. That's not a bid, No, that is a

(02:09:32):
It's almost getting to the point it feels like they're
the ones that's gonna sound harsh in a begging mode.
Does it feel like that right now that they're pining
for pining and pining. I don't see two hundred million
dollars in this negotiation. And if you're paying for it,
you're paying for hope that his bat realized. That comes
back to being the twenty nineteen Alex began. You're not

(02:09:54):
paying two hundred million on offensive production from the last
three years.

Speaker 3 (02:09:57):
You're just not.

Speaker 7 (02:10:00):
You're paying on hopefully this is the Alex Bregman we've
all known. That's why I'll pay him extra the two
hundred million. Other than that, you're not paying him on
the last three years production at the plate.

Speaker 3 (02:10:09):
Is not I also find it very odd that no
other team has officially said they've offered Bregman that I
never hear money, and why did I never hear money?
You hear year? Like I said, Yeah, like I said
in the beginning of the segment, that's no bid. Everybody's
offering six when most people are offered.

Speaker 5 (02:10:24):
Him five or six years, So there's no there's no
total money attached to those reports.

Speaker 7 (02:10:29):
It's almost like dude, which tells me part of it,
says that this is just how I perceive it that
Boris and them are telling the media. Guy, Yeah, that's
the Sinario talk saying well, you've got a six year
offer on the table, Well, what are the money? We
don't really want to talk to dollars and sense. The
dollars and cents are probably about what the Astros are offering, right,
So they're not going to put it out there because

(02:10:50):
what it would do would hurt the Bregman Boris cause
if he says, well, they're offering a six years for
one fifty six, that's the bidding war going on.

Speaker 3 (02:10:57):
So if the bidding wars at one fifty six and
somebody gets to one sixty five over six years, I
can see that.

Speaker 7 (02:11:03):
But if there's a bidding war, eventually everybody's going to
bow out except one. Who's that one? And if you're
bowing out, you ain't the only way you'd be bowing.
I mean two hundred million dollars. That that if three
teams are biden two hundred million dollars, that's a bidding war.
This isn't a bidding war. This is a hopefully we
get what we want. If not, we're probably gonna have
to settle for a lot less. It's February tenth, and

(02:11:25):
he's still a free agent. You want to talk about
You said there was no buzz about the Super Bowl? Yeah,
last week. You want to talk about the bottom falling
out of the buzz In this situation, it's all it's
it's just kind of oh yeah, okay, that's right.

Speaker 3 (02:11:41):
He's still a free agent. That's what it's becoming.

Speaker 6 (02:11:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:11:44):
Now he gets his money and goes out there and rakes.
That's awesome. The only thing that's got to be a concern, too,
is that you're going to get him. He'll start warming
up in July, in mid June and so, and if
that's any indication, and late to spring training, if he's
not there for his contract's not done, doesn't where he's going. Well,

(02:12:06):
history tells me you're not gonna be real happy with
his offensive performance the first forty games.

Speaker 3 (02:12:11):
Yeah, I saw it was a Bob Nightingale Jeff Passen.

Speaker 5 (02:12:15):
Somebody put up an article over the weekend and it
was talking about how we're getting closer and closer to
spring training and then the start of the season. In
one of the articles that mentioned Bregman and I the
first like three comments where like, no one cares anymore?

Speaker 3 (02:12:28):
Who cares? Move on?

Speaker 5 (02:12:30):
That's where people are the temperature of this whole saga
of him still being a free agent. But again I
always go back, this is the Boris playbook. Man, If
you're not a top perennial star, shoho tom I'm not
saying Joey O Tony is a Boris cab and I'm
saying Shoho Tani like Mike Trout if you were a
free agent, ut Mookie Betts, who's got Juan Soda? If

(02:12:50):
you're not a perennial perennial star, this is what has
happened the most over the last I don't know, three
four seasons with Boris and his clients.

Speaker 3 (02:13:00):
I wonder if it's good advice. Shouldn't feel out.

Speaker 7 (02:13:02):
It didn't feel like it, man, So I always tell
you again, I don't know why the agent gets to
dictate what the player is doing. I think I think
players are foolish for giving the agent too much power
and no time. Should he be speaking for you and
nor should he be making your decisions for you. It
feels like he does.

Speaker 3 (02:13:18):
Yeah, kind of from where we're sitting in there. They're
afraid to challenge him.

Speaker 7 (02:13:21):
No, dude, when I get to two sixty, m done,
let's go play or one to sixty, let's go play
six for one sixty. At this stage of the game,
it didn't quite work like we wanted to. I'll have
some incentives in the contract. You make the All Star Game,
another million, you win the MVP, it's two more million,
three more. I'll make it up if I have a
great season. If not, then then one hundred and sixty
is probably overpaying an offensive player.

Speaker 3 (02:13:42):
We'll see what I'm anxious, true.

Speaker 7 (02:13:44):
I think it's one of the five stories now when
the season starts, of who's Alex Bregman at the plate? Now,
I'm anxious to see it, no matter where it is.
I hope he rakes no matter where he goes until
he plays the Astros. But I'll tell you that, I
think you've got to have to push this into the
one seventy one to seventy five range. Considering the offensive
production recently, the glove is three hundred million dollars worth.

Speaker 3 (02:14:06):
The bat we thought was the bat right now falls.

Speaker 7 (02:14:09):
Into the middle of the class when it comes to
offensive production and at his own position. Yeah, let alone
with the best ten players in the league. Yeah, he's
not in that category offensively right now. He's a guy
you just throw into the mix. But his reputation, people
love that and they know what he's capable of. But
you have to question is this a trend or is
this just an aberration?

Speaker 6 (02:14:30):
Right?

Speaker 3 (02:14:30):
That's a long aberration at the plate. Yeah, it doesn't
get go until June every year. That's right.

Speaker 5 (02:14:35):
Seven three two point two five, seven ninety is the
number to join. Let's continue to talk here on Sports
Talk seven ninety. Rockets snap in a six game losey streak.
What's going on with the squad?

Speaker 3 (02:14:45):
That's next?

Speaker 8 (02:14:48):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues on Sports Talk seven ninety ninety.

Speaker 3 (02:14:54):
Home for your home teams on Saturday.

Speaker 5 (02:14:59):
Get him a couple of slumb Sure, it'll be fine.
They might have they you know, losing the Mavericks turn
around to beat the Raptors.

Speaker 3 (02:15:07):
It was a raptor's delight instead a rapper. Yes, they
might have got a couple of going on the game.
The Eagles, Kenny Lamar, Are people Kenny Lamar Lamar a
people working today?

Speaker 7 (02:15:25):
Like, Uh, well, it depends on what building you're talking about.
I didn't who are you talking about?

Speaker 6 (02:15:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:15:31):
Are people working today?

Speaker 5 (02:15:33):
Yeah, because a lot of people, a lot of people
party their ass off for Super Bowl regards who's in
the team or who's in the game.

Speaker 3 (02:15:39):
If you can't handle party and show up to work money,
you're a bitch. Some people just like to take advantage.
Now he was taking it off.

Speaker 6 (02:15:45):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (02:15:45):
But if you because you over the fence and can't
go get it, get you.

Speaker 16 (02:15:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:15:52):
I'd love to make it a national holiday. Be fantastic
or you're the damn super Bowl on a Saturday night. Yeap,
simple as that. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:16:00):
The buzz will still be around Monday morning for media
and TV radio people to talk about.

Speaker 3 (02:16:03):
The buzz is going to be around a long time.
They do great music. Yeah, they do ninety four five.
It's Rod Ryan Show. It's right Ryan Show. Yeah. Yeah,
what's happened to your brother? Rod Smart? I love it?
I uh yeah, I don't.

Speaker 7 (02:16:24):
I would imagine summer going to work, and I would
imagine some treat Monday like they do Friday.

Speaker 5 (02:16:27):
I want a lot of traffic this morning. So I figured,
you know, people were taking the day off. It's making
a damn national holiday. If you're gonna keep it on Sunday,
make the Monday after the super Bowl national holiday.

Speaker 3 (02:16:36):
Every the other holiday. Every year we get this argument
and it never changes, like like, I'd like us to change, uh,
daylight saving time. I want it light and dark when
it's supposed to be light and dark. I call it light,
longer and lighter earlier. Call up uh called DT call
up Donald?

Speaker 2 (02:16:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:16:56):
Donald? Yeah, detail, I'm pretty sure didn't he just put
it in order to change the Golf in Mexico to
Golf of America.

Speaker 5 (02:17:03):
Now, yeah, another executive do whatever he wants. He's the
boss national holiday.

Speaker 3 (02:17:08):
Yeah. I uh, I would like, okay, would you rather
have super Bowl on Saturday or Daylight Savings times change?
Where you get more light and more light more light
in the morning and more light in the evening Super
Bowl on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (02:17:20):
Not me.

Speaker 3 (02:17:20):
I'm actually a fan of changing the time. Daylight savings
that dog and you get more sleepe. When do we
get sleep? We're up at three thirty in the morning,
and I agree, but still it just feels good. I'd
prefer you to give me nine o'clock at night, when
it's light till nine o'clock at night, and then turn
around the show and by six it's sun. It's the
sun starting to come up, sun's rising, because that means

(02:17:46):
that shows you, Yeah, it's two hours into my post.
By afternoon golf game, it just puts, hey, I'm gonna
go play.

Speaker 7 (02:17:52):
When you get like a two thirty tea time, you're
screwed because if you get behind the now, I can
play in three hours, right, just normal golf, and you
don't have to even sprint to your ball. But five
o'clock you're if you're done. You come home from work,
you stay around, you do your thing. Four o'clock starts
to hit and the sun starting to drop.

Speaker 3 (02:18:08):
Yeah good, No, the fall is to keep that ball seat.

Speaker 5 (02:18:14):
You want yourself new pumpkin spice, No right, Christmas is
right around the corner. Thanks Giving, your favorite holiday.

Speaker 3 (02:18:20):
Come on, man, now, that is truth. But I want it.

Speaker 7 (02:18:24):
That's the fact that it gets dark at five o'clock.
There's nobody that needs that. Yeah no, but nobody needs it.
Yeah no, not at all.

Speaker 3 (02:18:31):
Nobody needs that.

Speaker 7 (02:18:32):
I'll walk your dog at seven o'clock at night when
the sun start to come Down's awesome your dogs.

Speaker 3 (02:18:37):
I can't listen when you get up as early as
we get up. Why do you need it darker later?
How do you think the people in Alaska? Field man great?

Speaker 7 (02:18:45):
Keep the key out when it's Sometimes they go through
that when it's the midnight and it's still a little
less Sonny out, I'll be playing golf at eleven. Yeah,
I'm in so no, I I give me both if
I want the Super Bowl Saturday and with you or
making a national holiday and money. But even if it
was a national hoty, our ass would have to be here,
you know that to talk about the game that just happened.
So regardless of that, So we don't fall under that category.

(02:19:07):
Some don't fall under it, whether there's a holiday or not. True, okay,
But the other side is give me that change, darker later,
lighter earlier.

Speaker 3 (02:19:17):
I'm all in. Are they trying to change anyone? Damn rights?
And I'm here for all of it. I like I
like it. I can sleep when it's light out. That
doesn't bother me. I think one of the craziest things.

Speaker 7 (02:19:28):
And in the day or starts to get dark at
your days, it's like cuts my day in how No,
I ain't going to bed at five o'clock at night. No,
keep the lights on. I'll keep the light on for you.

Speaker 3 (02:19:39):
Okay, every light in.

Speaker 5 (02:19:40):
The house is on in the backyard, bride ass cracked Now.

Speaker 3 (02:19:46):
Front ports looks like runway lights. Kind of like noon.
Ne was in my mind this morning. Yeah, you've been
on a it's been a full hater day for you. Yeah,
what's your biggest hate today? Gallentines? Gallantines? I saw a

(02:20:08):
couple of stupid ass gall type.

Speaker 7 (02:20:12):
A lady who I want to hear from, a gal
who cooks, a lady, the ladies I want to hear
for the ladies that like, did celebrate Galentine's Day. I
want to know the reason, and I want to know
what it's all about. And I want you to convince
us why Gallantine's Day is top shelf. Aside from the
fact that you get to get away from your husband.

(02:20:32):
I would love to hear he probably does. Again, he
probably doesn't. You're probably galey. Make it a weekend, you
know what, Just go out of town.

Speaker 2 (02:20:43):
I got this.

Speaker 3 (02:20:44):
You go ahead, matter of fact, I'll pay. Where are
you going?

Speaker 6 (02:20:47):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (02:20:48):
Oh a week fine?

Speaker 6 (02:20:50):
How about it?

Speaker 3 (02:20:52):
So Gallantine's Day, that's in your crawl. But I need
somebody to call in and tell me why that is epic? Yeah, okay,
that's what I need.

Speaker 5 (02:21:03):
So there's any women out there, they're out there who
participate in Galentine's Day? Let us know why you do it?

Speaker 3 (02:21:10):
Why is it superior at seven one three, two one
two five seven ninety that's never to join?

Speaker 2 (02:21:15):
Let us know.

Speaker 3 (02:21:16):
And I also dudes out there that.

Speaker 7 (02:21:20):
Very well be that too is But then and then,
how many I'm gonna ask them? Then, how many of
them of the Gallantine's Day? How many of them within
the next week will spend time with their besties even
after Gallentine's Day? You know it's you know what's happening.
They looking for every reason to have a happy hour
of Gallentine's Day. You got to get your besties together.

Speaker 3 (02:21:41):
Yeah, because.

Speaker 5 (02:21:44):
There's the Young Women Women's Entrepreneur of Cship County Leadership Conference.

Speaker 7 (02:21:49):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no doubt yeah man yeah,
and uh yeah Galentine's Day.

Speaker 3 (02:21:56):
I need I need one.

Speaker 7 (02:21:57):
We get a lot of female listeners. Right, tell me
about it. I want to hear. I want to hear
about it.

Speaker 3 (02:22:03):
Just like they said in Grease, tell me about it,
stud That sounded kind of what I just let's say it,
because you're quoting a movie. That's fine. Just don't stare
me in the eyes. You say, like I pierced, but
piercely look with the great eye. Yeah, you tilted your head.
I did tilty. You sounded kind of like Liam Kohane, Like,

(02:22:23):
let's try it again. It's like this, No, what was it?
What was my saying? Now you got me screwed up with?

Speaker 7 (02:22:29):
Tell me yeah Grease, but she got a cigarette, she
throws down and she's in that black called pleather, black leather.

Speaker 3 (02:22:38):
Change. It was right to Travolta, Right, who's in a letterman,
Jack from Olivia John, tell me about it. Don't do that,
tell me about it. Stop the saint. Stop looking at me,
look at the camera at hey. You want to you

(02:22:59):
want to talk about Patrick mahomes legacy. Oh, here we
are now, Oh, it's blowing. He's he's not going to
the Hall of Fame now, I went to the UH.
When I went down the hall, they got the ESPN
up on the TV and they were literally discussing that
like that's their topic this morning. Is his legacy ruined?

Speaker 2 (02:23:15):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (02:23:15):
Or is Patrick The other question was, is Patrick Mahome
Patrick Mahomes still in the goat category or in the
goat conversation? Brady lost three? Is he in the goat?
Campa conversation? He went seven and three in Super Bowls
from Montana's the goat? Correct, it's four?

Speaker 7 (02:23:31):
And oh ye no, the goat was broadcasting the game
yesterday was and the guy who's still trying to be
the goat is gonna find out. I think after what
four in his first six years?

Speaker 6 (02:23:43):
Is that what it is? Or four?

Speaker 2 (02:23:44):
Six?

Speaker 3 (02:23:46):
Okay? Well, he's been in the game, what five of
his first season? Three and two in his first five
Super Bowls? So I think it's five in first six years, okay,
and this is his eighth year in the league. I
believe something like that. So uh, with that is the goat?

Speaker 7 (02:23:59):
I think he's going to find that the next eight
are going to be tougher to get there than the
first eight, not that they weren't all tough, but we
got a gauntlet at AFC quarterbacks that are filthy that
two of them at the top of the list, well
three of them. The guy in Cincinnati has been to
but wants to win it. The two guys that can't
get to it yet but are capable, and Allen and

(02:24:21):
Lamar Jackson haven't been there, so their hunger factor is
a long ways away from being comfortable because they haven't
won it as matter of fact, as much as they
don't need to. But we seem to validate a guy's
career when he wins a Super Bowl ring at quarterback,
and so those two are going to be high on
the hog trying to get their thing done.

Speaker 3 (02:24:37):
You know what I mean, riding high to get it done.
You like riding high on a hog.

Speaker 7 (02:24:42):
Greatest Greatest might be the greatest picture of a Sports
Illustrated cover, you know, the one where Jordan's extended Go
find the one. It's Arkansas Razorbacks with the Three Musketeers.
Talked about this. Sidney Moncrief riding high on the hog
and the guys baseline low Sidney Moncreef's got the He's
doing the old backscratch dunk with his legs kicked up

(02:25:04):
and he's coming right at you. But you got the
view looks like he's got a ninety inch vertical. There's
not a better action photo on being basketball on a
Sports Illustrated coverever. That thing was don't go check it
out and staid riding high on the hogs obviously for Arkansas.

Speaker 5 (02:25:18):
Let's continue the discussion about the Super Bowl and how
Patrick Mahomes played.

Speaker 7 (02:25:21):
Next, Hey Sean, here, it's time to play Blitz scratch

Speaker 16 (02:26:02):
Well, so guys, hey, man, y'all, y'all are talking about that,
you know, the steak day, you know for guys, Hey,
I don't need the steak.

Speaker 2 (02:26:09):
Keep the steak.

Speaker 3 (02:26:12):
I'm suddenly I'm not even aug facts. I need steak
somebody getting.

Speaker 14 (02:26:19):
Yeah, hey, guys.

Speaker 16 (02:26:22):
So, so check out this bet I had at the
sports book. I lost, so it's not that impressive. But
what the final score of the margin was? What eighteen points?

Speaker 9 (02:26:31):
Right?

Speaker 3 (02:26:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (02:26:33):
It was twenty two?

Speaker 6 (02:26:35):
Yes.

Speaker 16 (02:26:37):
So so here's my bet I placed. I knew the
Eagles were going to blue blow them out, so but
the sports book wouldn't let me do any like crazy
anyways bets.

Speaker 3 (02:26:45):
But this is all that was available.

Speaker 16 (02:26:46):
My bet was the Eagles to win by nineteen points
to twenty four points. I got odds of plus twenty
five hundred, so on a fifty dollars bet, I was
going to bring in like thirteen hundred bucks. And uh, dude,
one point deyonder Hopkins, if he wouldn't have caught that
two point conversion at the end, I would have won.
And I was like, damn you, DeAndre Hopkins.

Speaker 3 (02:27:06):
You cost me.

Speaker 16 (02:27:07):
But I had I thought that was a pretty good bed.
I knew the statistics caught up to the Chiefs. Man,
you know, like this, it's so hard to win through
in a row. It's hell, it's hard to go to
three super Bowls in a row. But wasn't it good
not to see to not see Mahomes scramble around and
run for fifteen first downs?

Speaker 2 (02:27:26):
Oh my god?

Speaker 16 (02:27:27):
I think the Eagles finally figured it out. And I
hope all other teams watched them, and that was the
way you shut shut them down. So congrats of Jail
and hurts man. That was That was a pretty fuch
super Bowl. I was I think everybody was rooting against
the Chiefs. I don't know what you guys thought, but
I was definitely rooting against them. I'm sick. I was
sick of hearing about the dynasty and all this crap.

(02:27:49):
And hey, Sean, you could probably touch on this too.
I was arguing with my my, my friend and about
Mahomes being the greatest ever, and I was like, you know,
I don't think Brady ever got his brains beat in
like that, And I mean, what are the odds, what
are the odds that Mahomes even gets back to, like,

(02:28:09):
you know, just getting back to the Super Bowl so hard.
I mean, what are the odds he even gets back
to like one or two or three? I mean, I
don't know, what do you guys think?

Speaker 7 (02:28:17):
Right, we said I said two and a half. After
today we said two and a half over under. I'm
taking the under on getting back to three Super to
two super Bowls, let alone winning them. I think it's
gonna be harder the second part, with the with the
depth and understanding the hunger factor, and you're gonna lose
Kelsey soon.

Speaker 3 (02:28:34):
He's gonna go.

Speaker 7 (02:28:35):
He's gonna retire at some point in time, and he's
not gonna play five more years. I think it's gonna
be tougher to get back two and a half times,
which is the were the numbers set for us.

Speaker 3 (02:28:46):
I'll take the under. I don't think he's even going
to play in ten Super Bowls, let alone wins seven
of them. No, I don't think he's gonna get side though.

Speaker 7 (02:28:55):
What the Patriots did is insane and in truth, what
what homes in Kansas City's done, it's been insane. It's
not And he had mentioned going to three three in
a row is tough. Going to three is tough. I
mean there's only that doesn't happen very often. So yeah,
I would say, I'm not saying the windows shut. You
got Mahomes and Andy Reid, the windows open, But I

(02:29:17):
think it's gonna be tougher to get there. And I
don't believe they're the best team odds wise in the
AFC right now.

Speaker 3 (02:29:22):
I just don't.

Speaker 7 (02:29:23):
And when we say, you know, John, our guy John
had mentioned earlier John Aiman from about oh they got
lucky all year. I don't think you can win twelve
one score games and be lucky. They got a little
help from referees at times to make it lucky, to
make it a little easier path. Even with help of referees,
you know, get a little favoritism. You're not winning twelve

(02:29:44):
one score games unless you know how to play situational football.
They didn't get to play situational football last night in
clutch moments because the game was too out of reach
right from the get go. So it took them out
of a comfort zone and they weren't good at handling
it last night. The Chiefs were not good at getting
their asks. They're good when it's close and you got
the ball in their hands, but they never gave themselves
a chance, let alone the great play by the Philadelphia

(02:30:08):
Eagles on defense and is a fishing as hell on offense.
But they never had the chance to play the type
of situational football they want because the Philadelphia Eagles punched
them in the face the second the game started and
it was done and they did not respond. So I'm
taking it is very difficult to get there. I don't
believe that you can. They'll be in three or four
or five more Super Bowls. I'm going to disagree. I

(02:30:30):
don't think he goes to three more. I think it's
gonna be hard to win another one. You said two
and a half, right, Yep, I'm staying on the still
take the under yep, me too. Going to them, not
just winning them.

Speaker 3 (02:30:40):
I just feel like the AFC is just too good
and eventually they're not going to go to fifteen straight
AFC Championship games. It's not gonna where they've been to seven, seven,
whatever it is. Yeah, that's it's it's going to It's
going to be more difficult it it goes on rosters, age,
you know, and then the Mahomes. He's played eight years,

(02:31:02):
Brady played twenty three.

Speaker 7 (02:31:06):
And past the twentieth year, he was winning super Bowls
at a high level and lost one right around forty
or whatever it was when the dude threw for five
hundred plus yards in the game.

Speaker 3 (02:31:16):
Yeah, that's insane, sorry to tell you.

Speaker 7 (02:31:19):
Mahomes is in the goat conversation, but he's closer to
the guys that are second, third, and fourth.

Speaker 5 (02:31:25):
Then he is the guy that's number one. You think
about what you just said. Five hundred yards in a
super Bowl and they lost.

Speaker 7 (02:31:30):
Yes, and his former teammate Brandon Graham is the win
who laid it on the ground at Michigan. Yeah, if
it's not for that fumble, I promise you with that game,
they're going to go. They're going down to win it.

Speaker 3 (02:31:40):
They would.

Speaker 7 (02:31:41):
If that fumble doesn't have Brady's gonna get them in
the end zone, they're winning the game.

Speaker 3 (02:31:45):
But they didn't.

Speaker 7 (02:31:46):
So it's hard to be lucky when you go twelve
one score wins. Now you're I got news of your
teeter on on the brink of disaster if you're not
clutch under pressure, and they were and a little help,
but yesterday they're weak. Is we're all exposed, and the
best weakness is take care of the well. The last
time they got beat in.

Speaker 3 (02:32:07):
A Super Bowl, they got destroyed up front too.

Speaker 7 (02:32:09):
Both their tackles were out and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
obliterated them at the line of scrimmage. The same thing
happened here. And you become a different player at quarterback.
As good as Mahomes is special, you become a different
player when you're playing from your ass and watching the
pass rush because you set up and they are beating
you to the backfield.

Speaker 3 (02:32:26):
You're a different player.

Speaker 7 (02:32:28):
And the two games he's lost in the Super Bowl,
both times it was dictated by physical dominance up front.

Speaker 3 (02:32:34):
But he did not play well and he did not
play up to his standard. And stop the goat talk.

Speaker 7 (02:32:38):
He's got to win a couple more and he's got
to go to to a bunch more for him to
get to where Brady is.

Speaker 3 (02:32:44):
It's Brady. There's a gap and then there's Mahomes and
the Merinos and the Lways and the stall Bucks and
the Unitedses and the Mannings than everybody else. Right now,
the goat talk's not in danger, and I'm just telling
you it's It will be very difficult for them to
continue to win the AFC with Lamar Jackson and C. J.

Speaker 7 (02:33:06):
Stroud and Josh Allen and the group as and Herbert.
We got some studs in the AFC. Let's not leave
him out.

Speaker 5 (02:33:14):
Yeah yeah. And also what these other young guys are
doing just across the league. I mean, bo Nix looks
like he's going to be a pretty good player.

Speaker 3 (02:33:24):
Are you telling you right now? With their defense?

Speaker 7 (02:33:26):
You're telling me what their defense that they can't that
that they're not getting closer to the top, meaning Denver,
that's the third best team in the AFC, in the division,
and they're pretty damn good.

Speaker 3 (02:33:37):
They are.

Speaker 7 (02:33:38):
And if if this, if, if you know, they continue
to play well at the quarterback position, they can.

Speaker 3 (02:33:44):
Go into Campasity and beat him in their regular season game.
The GAP's closing. Let me just tell you.

Speaker 7 (02:33:48):
The gap is closing. And I personally am a little
bit surprised that the Kansas City Chiefs. I know, it's
like because they went they're going to odds on favorite.
Look how bad the forty nine ers played this year
and they're yeah, and the odds and they've then the
Chiefs are the number one in the AFC. I don't
believe the Chiefs are the best team in the AFC.
They got there this year, so they are the best.

(02:34:10):
I don't to sustain what they're doing. What they've already
done is hall of fame stuff. But to continue to
do it, we think it's easy, because well look what
Patriots did.

Speaker 3 (02:34:20):
This is not easy.

Speaker 7 (02:34:21):
But Andy's not going anywhere because Andy's got a chance
to be the all time. He's closer to the goat
stabbing to to Belichick and Shula, like we said last week,
than Mahomes is right now to Brady.

Speaker 3 (02:34:31):
And that's just that, that's a fact. Yeah, and Andy
read already said he's coming back to coach again retiring.
That's exactly right.

Speaker 7 (02:34:37):
So now they may go back because listen, the two keys, well,
the coordinator is really good. The head coach is really good.
And coordinator on the offensive side the same guy. And
the quarterback's pretty damn good too. And I and I
watched Worthy go to another level last night. The guy's
a star in the making. His when he when he
caught the deep ball, did you see he was just
striding out what he wasn't running full speed and he

(02:35:00):
right through the two safeties like they were standing still,
and he wasn't even at full gear.

Speaker 3 (02:35:04):
He's different, man.

Speaker 7 (02:35:05):
And you know what, I loved such a small thing.
They're getting their ass kicked. He catches one a great
catching the end zone on a scramble by Mahomes, and
then the big play for the touchdowns. Scose twice didn't
celebrate down thirty and he threw the ball to the
referee and walked back to the side and without raising
his hands to celebrating, like, look at me, knowing I'm
not celebrating because he's a rookie, mature move and didn't like,

(02:35:27):
oh look at me. How many times you seen a
guy celebrate after scoring a Super Bowl touchdown or a
touchdown in the game where they're getting their ass wax?

Speaker 2 (02:35:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:35:33):
Too many times?

Speaker 7 (02:35:34):
Right, this dude handled it like, yeah, I scored two touchdowns,
but you know what, that ain't the goal here. Yeah,
that tells me there's another step to the maturity.

Speaker 3 (02:35:42):
That dude is.

Speaker 7 (02:35:45):
Special skill set. And I'm telling you right now, he's
running three quarters faster than most guys are going flat
at full speed. Hey, his stride and his ability to
step on your toes and run by you is stupid. Yeah,
that's how fast that dude is. And He's a finish right,
he really is. I was impressed.

Speaker 5 (02:36:02):
Final loss, final segment on a Monday edition to Sean
Salisbury Show. Next ready here on Sports Talk seven eighty.

Speaker 8 (02:36:10):
Let the celebration start, wor Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (02:36:17):
We can say that every day.

Speaker 5 (02:36:18):
He's got CTE on the highest level. He's a moron.
Who is Yeah, he said, free puff Daddy. No, we're
not freeing puff Daddy cuz.

Speaker 3 (02:36:29):
We're not doing that. No, we're not. No throw away
the key he was, dude, he was talking about just
the dumb it a couple days ago. Diet. Yeah, well
you say, what do we call him?

Speaker 6 (02:36:46):
Who?

Speaker 13 (02:36:46):
Ye?

Speaker 3 (02:36:50):
Oh man ude, No, they're not freeing him. Have another drink? No,
he go, hey, terrible man. They need to suspend his
name account. They just need to cut his ass. Man.
Maybe go to the store and buy his ladies and clothes. Yee,

(02:37:13):
make some yees. Wait did they ban him?

Speaker 2 (02:37:15):

Speaker 3 (02:37:16):
Why would they? I can't find him who?

Speaker 10 (02:37:18):
Yee?

Speaker 3 (02:37:19):
He might have, he might have, He might have.

Speaker 15 (02:37:21):
He deactivated his account.

Speaker 2 (02:37:22):
He might have.

Speaker 15 (02:37:23):
Yes, he's on. He forgot what he said he was starting.
But basically another little oh.

Speaker 3 (02:37:28):
What is it called truth, true social I think.

Speaker 15 (02:37:33):
That's what it is.

Speaker 10 (02:37:34):
Yee.

Speaker 7 (02:37:36):
Probably why is that he deleted his account. That'd probably
be a smart move for a minute for him. Yeah,
that's to put a muzzle on it for a little while.

Speaker 5 (02:37:44):
He said, I'm logging. I'm logging out of Twitter. This
is his him tweeting thanks for letting us know because
we were really concerned. I'm logging out of Twitter. My boy,
Ralphie didn't kill no horse. Tony didn't die in the end,
it was a dream. Aj was a player. The Russian
was adducted by aliens. They even referenced it in a
later episode to reconnect again.

Speaker 3 (02:38:04):
Good afternoon, good night AnyWho, it's doctor Big Jay's that
Big Jay.

Speaker 19 (02:38:13):
Good morning, gentlemen, Happy meet Trey Monday. I got a
little comment about the Gallantines Day. Man, I just think
that just turns into the thunder from down Under. I mean,
come on, let's be real. Some ladies ain't up there
in their hotel sweet watching the notebook, right, I mean,
it's a it's a wild party.

Speaker 2 (02:38:30):
So that's my thoughts on that. I know Gal, No
Gal's called in.

Speaker 10 (02:38:33):
But I'm sure they'll maybe call in on terrific Tuesday.

Speaker 19 (02:38:36):
But I'll hop yeah, just just just to point out
if Sean you hit it on the head man. The
Philadelphia Eagles had the perfect game plan. They were awesome
and those defensive ends for the Eagles, Man, they were
rushing the quarterback like Joy Taylor was back there police
correct Jones Edwards Hilaire is a hell of a running back.

Speaker 6 (02:38:55):
You guys have a.

Speaker 3 (02:38:56):
Great Mondayjay, Yeah. They it was almost like they had
the Chiefs offensive game plan. Huh Yeah. They dominated. Man,
loved it. I loved every minute of it. I was
it's gonna them them Chiefs in the in the chat.

Speaker 7 (02:39:13):
Yeah, tough sledding. Seawan's low key a Chiefs fan. Everybody, No,
Seawann's a Raider fan. So you can you can imagine
how I feel about that.

Speaker 3 (02:39:23):
You know what I'm saying. Ye, I'm gonna call you yee,
not calling me ye. What don't you want to be loaded? Yee?
What a name? You're an idiot? Who yee.

Speaker 6 (02:39:42):
It's just like.

Speaker 7 (02:39:44):
Yeah, he's uh, he'll, he'll. He goes into a major
rabbit hole on Twitter. Dude to the point where you like, dude,
you okay. He was like, yeah, okay, you.

Speaker 5 (02:39:55):
Get to do some help, no question, get him some help, man,
no doubt, talking about free puffed addy all kinds of others.

Speaker 3 (02:40:01):
Dumb. Yeah, I can say, you can say that. Yeah,
no problem. Our best to you. Football season is over, man.
Oh well, football season never ends, dude, it does. Yeah,
but football seat it's it's time. Oh yeah usfl or
u s U U fl right around the corner. Football's time.
It's time.

Speaker 7 (02:40:20):
It's time for baseball, spring baseball, golf. Oh yeah, it's
time golf. Yeah, baseball, No, come on, My season actually
starts this weekend. Good luck man, playing Catters Invitational this weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:40:33):
Where's that wild Catters? No, it's at L Franco Park
or something like that local man Franco Franco Salzi. We
had one of those that name Esco too. That was
like the special burrito you could order Man Franco Man
a lot of meat, remember that one Selsey. Remember we
ate two of them seals and had a doctor Pepper
to wash it down. In high school. The Mexican gold

(02:40:55):
