My gosh.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
Jonathan Allen sounds like somebody you would have taken like
in the first ten picks in an NFL draft. Sounds
like a defensive tackle. Sounds like a good drafted from
like Auburn. Yeah, that sounds about right. It also sounds
kind of like a basic white guy named kind of
does Jonathan Jonathan Allen does sound like a basic white
guy name. I can't hear you, brother, You you got there?
You you gotta yeah? Yeah, that's my middle name is Keith.
(00:59):
Too's I got john shot. Sounds like a good country artist. No,
it sounds like a basic white well Keith Allen, JK.

I know you've been sitting in there with Tripoli and
we love having you and welcome to the to the family. Man.
(01:20):
We love great. Now where's your family at right now?
Where I know you said? Your mom's out in Dallas? Right, yes, sir,
right after this, I'm driving up right to Dallas right now,
little body, brothers and my grandma. Awesome. And we didn't
ask you. What's your favorite Thanksgiving gig man? What's you're like?
What do you look forward to aside from family and
friends and laughs? Is there food do you like to?
(01:41):
What's your thing?
Speaker 6 (01:42):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:45):
Love eat the food?
Speaker 7 (01:47):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:47):
Are you serious? I will go there. I will drive
five hours right now just to get to key Pie
and take it home. Okay, So, but you are you
like a stuffing guy? What's your favorite thing?
Speaker 8 (01:57):
I mean?
Speaker 5 (01:57):
Do you like morning broccoli? Cheese? Cross World sounds awesome?
I love that was just a little crunch, but saut broccoli,
And I mentioned the cheese is thick too. It's really good,
isn't it? Can't? Dude? I think key Lime Pie might
be the most underrated pile that think it is. I agree.
(02:17):
If you're a good key Lime Pie cheesecake, Oh yeah,
cheesecakes the best hurt in the world. I agree, And
you can because you can do Oreo cheesecake. Caramel cheesecake
doesn't matter. Cheesecakes about as versatile as no doubt. Like
somebody mentioned yesterday, I'm I'm all for well, it's good
to have you man, so you get that key lime
pie and great to have you in here. It's always
(02:38):
like I mean, I just we we're blessed with a
great group.
Speaker 7 (02:42):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Fantastic's pretty awesome ladies and gentlemen. With the ninth pick
of the first round out of well, let's see families
in Dallas. So from TCU Jonathan Keith Allen. It comes
out there hugging the commissioner. You got it, Yes, sir,
(03:04):
I love it. That's uh, that's pretty small on it.
And by the way, watching some good hoops last night,
Kansas is pretty good. Yeah, they are good. That's ah
was a college hoops good one. Christmas is when NBA
kicks in for me, even though it's already kicked in
the college hoops weekend, like the Vegas Turn This and
and didn Decender. You're going to see the one where
(03:25):
it's like Michigan State will play Kentucky on the boat
on the on the boat. Yeah, like a twenty foot
hatterast on the air right out of San Diego Harbor, right,
you know you'll get that. So but Kansas and Duke.
Man a lot of basic white guys on Duke, a
lot of Yehoper flag Yeah, Cooper Flawski has been a
(03:47):
basic white guy shire now yeah, coach, there there you go.
But what a what a uh? I love these because
a lot of times unlike some other sport. Now we'll
get it in football once, but man, you'll get like
twenty games where the best team, I mean the Kansas
versus Duke, and you'll get Michigan State versus Kentucky and
you and I just freaking love these early season And
(04:08):
this is in Vegas. What's that? That tournament's the Big
ten ACC Challenge and you'll get the sec A saw
another challenge. Yeah, I think college hoops is I freaking
love it. Like I've always told you when it comes
to betting, this is this is where if I've if
I haven't done my thing. You know, if you're behind
in college, I don't chase it, but this is where
(04:28):
I get my stuff done. I bet I love college hoops.
I'm betting on college hoops. I bet on the coops.
Last night they did not shoot well. They lost in
overtime in that Vegas Challenge. So they've lost twice already,
two top fifteen teams. I know this is not where
they're going to be. It's early, but man, and you
know what, and we'll get our guy, Kelvin Sampson on.
But I can tell you this did. I'm not so
(04:51):
sure that's a bad thing because, as Kelvin has said
in the past, you will. Yeah, we're gonna lose games.
Remember what they were number one? Like last year he goes,
We're gonna lose a game. It just it happens. And
you know Indiana's team with Kent Benson and you don't
know because you don't you fools don't recognize whoa I
(05:12):
got to throw straight at six five is early. You
go out there and, uh, back in the day when
Kent Benson and Quinn Buckner in that group, when Indiana
was underfit, went on and won the national championship, Bob
coach Knight, But you're gonna lose, And I'm not so
sure this is a bad thing because I want these
losses now. Yeah, instead of where they forgot to shoot
(05:33):
in the Elite eight, right, this team's loaded they're gonna
be fine, and sometimes a little message Early get you.
And it's not like they're losing to some excuse me,
to some hacks. No, they lost to Auburn and they've
lost to Alabama, both good teams. Yeah, Yukon defending champs
have lost twice already. That's exactly right, and coach Hurley
is about to lose his mind art attack. He's one
of my favorite dudes because he doesn't give a fuzzy as.
(05:57):
He does not care. I mean, he and his brother
are both could coach, you know, out of Arizona State,
and he's done good thing going. Danny and Bobby are
great and I love it because he's uh and that
sends a excuse me. If you're Yukon, you won a
couple of national titles and recently, you know, coach Early's
out there like whohahoa. Yeah, we're getting and the officials
are driving him crazy right now, which I I to
(06:17):
get back coaches making sure he's not getting tossed every game.
But he's firing, which tells me he's still coaching up right,
not letting these guys get complacent. So well see, and
we know coach Sampson don't get these guys going, yeah, now,
this team will go on a run where they win
like fifteen in a row, right, and they'll defend you
and make it miserable for you. So I know we
probably weren't going to start with college hoops, but I did.
I am so and that game last night, I mean, heck,
(06:41):
Duke almost knocks down a trifecta at the buzzer to
win it. But it was a great basketball and you
get really good you know, sometimes it's sluggish and some
teams don't play in there, like in football, or when
it comes to college hoops, you get these good tip
they come out smoking. I mean you look at just
the scores from the slate last night.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Colorado upsets Yukon seventy three seventy two, Kansas takes down
Duke seventy five seventy two. Alabama goes into overtime with
u of H eighty five eighty Iowa state top five
team taken down Dayton eighty nine eighty four. So they
weren't blowouts, No, they're all back and forth games.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
This is a this is a it's a blast to watch.
So there you go, and I know we got and
this is the best holiday because you got football wall
to wall, hoopswall the wall all weekend weekend this weekend,
oh my gosh. And don't bury the lead though, Okay,
two huge moments last night in sports. You ready for him?
Don't bury the lead?
Speaker 7 (07:34):
Come on now?
Speaker 5 (07:36):
Two huge moments last night? Yep, what did U did?
Brownie James score? I'm just kidding, what go ahead, Bronnie
James city jump shot?
Speaker 9 (07:45):
What?
Speaker 4 (07:48):
No, I'm just I'm looking at times here. Okay, so
basically about I'm yeah, yeah. Thirty minutes apart last night,
the Rockets beat the Timberwolves one fifteen eleven.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
But that's no story because his story hold on.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
The Rockets win West Group A, moving on to the
quarterfinals of the Emirates NBA Cup.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
How daremy? How dare me not know go to the
knockout stage?
Speaker 10 (08:11):
What?
Speaker 2 (08:11):
What?
Speaker 5 (08:11):
I didn't even know? What's the name of this tournament?
Speaker 8 (08:13):
Again?
Speaker 5 (08:13):
The Emirates NBA Cup. Okay, so they they win their
group and.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Then about thirty minutes later, thirty minutes later, Jeff Passing
announced that part of the news I did know. Blake
Snell and the Los Angeles Dodgers agree on a five
year one hundred and eighty two million dollar contract.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
Remember, oh my god, when Blake had stopped Remember when
Blake Snell decided last year to go early and he
went to the Giant was the Giants?
Speaker 7 (08:40):
Right?
Speaker 5 (08:40):
Yeah? It was it was late, not not late, but
he decided early of the group, right late in the
in the in the you know, realm events, and didn't
get the initially what we thought he was right? Is
my point? Correct? What's the year opt out? Right? They
gave it to him? Oh, we opted out? Have you
seen when that staff's healthy? What it looks like?
Speaker 4 (08:58):
It's it's said been guys, Dustin May is like they're
number six and the kids and they don't even have
I went to the I looked at the what may
be projected starting rotation.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Yeah, well they have Goslin as the fifth star. Tony Goslin.
You know who's not on there? Uh sho hail Toney?
Oh no, he's number two starter?
Speaker 6 (09:16):
Is he?
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Okay? When healthy? Last now is on there?
Speaker 7 (09:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (09:18):
Glass House. Guess guess who's not on? Kershaw Walker, Bueler, Yeah,
no Kershaw and no redhead Justin May? Really hey, but
how much money do they have? I'll bet you they're
not done. No, they're not dead.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
What's the guy's name, Sasaki that's coming over from Japan. Yeah,
they're in the they're in the top. They're one of
the top favorites to land him. That dude's unbelievable.
Speaker 7 (09:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
They they don't mess around, and that what I love
about it is they were sitting on a World Series
and they're like, well, we'd like another one. I don't listen.
If you got it and you want to spend it
and you're making money, listen, you don't pay that money
unless you're making money. And you know they're there. They
may be a late arriving crowd, but that ballpark is
always loaded with bodies. And why, you know why, why
(10:08):
wouldn't it be that's the type of team you go
to with the Otani's there and guys like that, you
know why? And Betts is that you almost feel like
if you're not in the ballpark, you're going to miss
something special. And no hitter guy hitting four home runs
a ten RBI game by an Otani where it's like, well,
four seventy total bases in a game by you know,
one of those types of you're gonna miss Freddy Freeman
(10:29):
hitting three bombs. That's right. I mean so it to me.
I you may despise them, but you got to love
if you're a Dodger fan, that they're just going out
and get more paying and then you get another quality
left hander who they got a team that, like the
fifth starter can win the sie of Yeah, it's sick. Yeah,
I mean you go through that lineup. It is actually
(10:50):
lineup the pitching stay. Oh of course because the ownership
group spends money. It sure makes two hundred million dollars
on Alex Bregman. Look like it's doable. Doesn't it cure?
Speaker 7 (10:59):
Right?
Speaker 5 (11:00):
But it won't be No, not even close. There you go.
So it's how about that though that I saw that
news and I'm looking, I said, well the rotation and
I go through it, and I said, let's see, no
kershaw on Clayton's at this stage of his career that
I get it. But Hall of Fame career, mind you.
But Goston's a fifth starter and there's no dust In
May and there's no Walker Bueler, And it's like on
(11:22):
the on the Projected Stars, I'm like, uh, yeah, so
do we cancel the We just wait till the playoffs now, right,
although the Padres gave him a little run for their
money last year. But good gracious, it's almost two hundred
million for Blake Snell. Good on him. He's got a
limit on himself, and he kicked out. He's been doing
that his whole career.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
He sure did limited no trade clause, no opt outs,
deferred money in a fifteen fifty two million dollars signing movie.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Yeah, and why would you listen? This will be Blake
Snell more than likely his last stop, right, I would
tell I would probably or maybe not. Maybe, Hey, but
I'm talking about where he's getting. You're getting the best
of Blake Snell still. Yeah, and the Dodgers give him
all that money, make it to the point where he
didn't want to opt out, no opt outs. He's thirty one,
so what did you get? Five or six years? Five years? Okay,
(12:10):
so he'll be thirty so yeah, just about the time
where his best baseball still may bee there. Plus, dude,
if you give up three runs a game, you're still
winning a lot of games because that team's going to score.
That's my point. So if you go to him, you're saying, huh,
I think this is pretty cool. I'm good here, and
they give him. I'm sure that they got exactly is
he a Boris guy? Yeah? Well there you go. Yeah,
(12:32):
it's sorry you asked, Well, what kind off seasons Bori's
gonna have? Well, if this is any indication is off
to a good start, sure Is and the Dodgers, So
we'll see.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
It's like I said a couple of weeks ago when
we got into this free agency thing, Boris cannot afford
to have another offseason like he did last year where
his three or four main guys didn't sign anywhere until
spring training and they all got year opt outs, no.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
Doubt, and the most I mean the two guys. I mean,
if you're looking for pitching and you think left handers
are needed, and they all are the two top guys
so far, I mean the two of your best left
handers right now in baseball that we're eligible to be
I mean that we're eligible to go sign are both
are both signing, got big money. So they're the premium
(13:13):
that's on left handers that can dominate games. And we've
seen it with Kakuchi and him. I think, isn't he
I don't know. He probably wouldn't shock me. If he is,
but he got out of the shooting. Both of them
are in California and about an hour apart.
Speaker 7 (13:26):
So there you go.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
God, Man, quality left handers important in the lineup.
Speaker 11 (13:30):
Man.
Speaker 5 (13:30):
And uh, the Angels and Dodgers have got two of
the top ones right now that were available. So and
Blake Snell got his. And why would you need an
opt out? Who wouldn't want to finish their career there
with a team that has a chance to win a
World Series every year?
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Yeah, and you can win two more Cy youngs if
you pitch well. So he gets that money. Now, next up,
I would assume, would be Wan Soto. Where's he going
to land?
Speaker 5 (13:50):
Yeah, well, there's everybody's gonna sit back and wait because
there's that that pot of gold that he's about to get.
It's gonna empty somebody's bank account on a team. And
it's going to be the Mets, it's going to be
the Yankees, it's gonna be the Dodgers, it's gonna be
one of those teams. I don't know who's the sneaky
team in the Wrisota thing. We can just yeah, I mean,
we can discuss that later. It's gonna be one of
the big players. Yeah, Wan Soda ain't ended up in Miami. No,
(14:12):
it's just so you understand that it's gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
I think I saw a report that he had a
good meeting with Toronto, but even then, I don't think
they're in.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
The Toronto always hovers around some good players. Yeah, they're
always hanging around. But can you close it out and
go get him in? Does he I mean, is he
gonna want to do that? We'll see, but he's gonna
get paid.
Speaker 7 (14:26):
All right.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
We got a lot to get into because we're off
tomorrow and excuse me, tomorrow and Friday got college football.
We got to get into the college football playoff rankings.
Uh have been released last night that that projected bracket
is wild. Of course, we got to talk Texans, so
let's start there. The Texans taking on the Titans, or
excuse me, the Jaguars after a Titans loss.
Speaker 5 (14:47):
What's going on with that offense? How can they fix it?
This weekend? That's next.
Speaker 12 (14:53):
Going non stop, Sean form Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Of course, Texans and Jaguars is coming Sunday seven one, three, two,
two five seven ninety is the number two Joint Scots
of the phone lines, Ronnie, welcome in.
Speaker 13 (15:10):
Good morning, guys. I just wanted to get on a
little basketball before you get all wrapped up in Thanksgiving stuff.
What I don't understand these college tournaments. Who is going
to watch a November basketball game at eleven thirty at night?
Speaker 7 (15:26):
Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
Comers Cougar's tipping off at eleven thirty hour time nine
thirty in Vegas.
Speaker 14 (15:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (15:32):
Uh, it just you know, I mean, I love the
fact that some of these good teams are playing each
other early instead of all these good teams playing teams
like Ponsettani State or whoever. H But I just can't figure.
I'm not sure I'm going to be able to stay
up for that game because I got to get my
wrist so I can put my feedback on tomorrow, you know.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (15:53):
And also I heard, I don't know if you've heard
this or seen this, I understand that Sampson has nailed
a big time Uh oh yeah, cruit from Indiana.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
Big five star, the best center in the senior class.
Speaker 13 (16:06):
Wow, that's that's fantastic. That is because he doesn't always
go after big men, you know, more than six six
sixty seven. Uh, he doesn't get too many of those.
So I hope that that helps the Cougs out next year.
So we got to get through this year. Did they
have two injuries last night? Because there was a couple
(16:26):
of guys that, of course half the team filed out
almost or almost filed out. There must have been one
hundred and fifty free throws shot in that game yesterday
by both teams, but I don't know if it was
it Francis and uh one of the other guys was
banged up a little bit.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Arsenal Yeah, yeah, yeah, so Arsenal obviously, you know, he
got hurt last year and was out for the season,
so they're monitoring his minutes early.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
So that's probably why you saw him go out.
Speaker 13 (16:55):
Yeah. And also just yeah, and I'll hang up on
this one. I don't understand, and I have never tried
because the Rockets have been so bad, but now that
they're getting better. I don't understand this NBA, this tournament.
Does that affect the schedule or is the schedule already set?
Speaker 7 (17:14):
Schedule for who they play?
Speaker 5 (17:16):
Yeah, schedules already set.
Speaker 13 (17:18):
Okay, Yeah, so it doesn't matter whether they were in
the tournament or not. If they had had lost last night,
they were still going to have to fly all the
way to Philadelphia from Minneapolis.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Yeah, the tournament's just add on to give these guys
more incentive to want to play, and then to create
more they think, more eyes and views. Because you're going
to hang a banner in an N season tournament. I'm
gonna if I love hoops, which I do, I'm gonna
watch it whether there's tournament or not. But you know,
you get a million bucks if you win the damn
thing per player, So that's you don't get a discount
on your ticket, but they're going to pay the player
(17:47):
more to go do his job and play. So some
love the incentive of doing it. But that schedule set,
it's not. They don't change it on the way. It
just happened to put a they happen to put a
you know, an umbrella or a you know over it
and say, well, let's call this a tournament part of
the season, and then and here we are.
Speaker 13 (18:04):
So they put a green banner up if they went.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's about right. Yeah, yes, sir, Thanksgiving.
Speaker 13 (18:12):
I have a great Thanksgiving you too, and Thanksgiving.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
Brother, appreciate you.
Speaker 13 (18:16):
Yeah, thanks a lot.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
I appreciate Roddick stalk to Billy Billy, what's happening? Hey,
good morning guys.
Speaker 15 (18:23):
Just to answer his question, Matt Thomas, that's who's gonna
be watching that game at eleven thirty.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
He gonna missus kooks.
Speaker 15 (18:31):
Hey, a question about Jim Crane, And I'm not gonna
call him cheap. I've heard that, and it's ridiculous. He's
got a top five salary. Uh yeah, sory in the
in the league, but a lot of that money is
poorly spent. And you look at what he did with you,
and I know it should could have could.
Speaker 7 (18:49):
Have worked, but it didn't.
Speaker 15 (18:50):
Montera is making a bunch of money, and uh, but
when are they going to kind of figure out that
this is a league of stars? And I know they
had six without doing that, but it's not gonna work forever.
And Crane's words were, as long as I'm owner, the
championship window will be open. Okay, that's not gonna stay
(19:12):
open forever, even not doing what he's doing. And maybe
he okay, maybe he doesn't get Bregman, but if Bregman
and Tucker walkin back to back years, who's next? Paanya
did not replace Korea. I'm sorry they've never replaced Springer.
They've had some good players. Obviously, they've had a lot
of success. You go to seven straight alcs's, You've got
(19:35):
a lot of talent on your team, and they've done
a great job of finding guys that fit. But at
some point you've got to have stars in your team.
And I know you've got on TV, but he's aging.
You've got Alvarez, but Alvarez has shown a propensity to
be hurt.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
At what point does it fall apart?
Speaker 15 (19:54):
Because guys, I don't know how long y'all have been
in this city, but I've been watching baseball or sports
paying attention to It's in nineteen seventy four and this
Astros team is one seventy two, seventy two and ninety
season away from having eleven thousand bucks in the seats
the following year. Fair Weather fans is very common in
(20:16):
this city, and it can fall apart quick. When is
Crane gonn understand Is it gonna have to slap him
in the face for him to understand the necessity of
getting guys of keeping talent.
Speaker 7 (20:26):
On this roster.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
You know what it may take is them to finish
in third place and not make the playoffs. Happy Thanksgiving, Bility,
Happy Thanksgiving Buddy. The reason why is because you go
with We all lean It doesn't matter if it's calling place,
it doesn't matter if it's you're a salesperson. When you
have success doing something and it's worked, what do you do?
(20:49):
You lean on with it. You may make some adjustments
along the way, but you lean on what's brung you.
We always said, hey, go with what brung you. Well,
what's brung them is continue to do it. At some
point in time, like it happens. At some point in time,
the Kansas City Chiefs are going to take a step back.
I don't know when it is, but it's going to happen.
(21:09):
And the truth is the Houston Astros are. Their success
has lived a lot longer than most would On the
continuous run, you don't get decades like a decade of
success where you're a world's I mean, now, I know
the take away the teams like Yankees and Dodgers, who
are going to spend that much I'm talking about normal?
(21:31):
Even then go through the NFL. Is it hit New England?
Speaker 7 (21:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Did it hit Seattle? It did? Forty nine ers?
Speaker 7 (21:38):
Yep? Who am I? Well?
Speaker 4 (21:42):
I would say the Pittsburgh Steelers, they had good runs
of Super Bowls, but they can but no championships. Okay,
so it does right, just like I mean it in basketball.
Speaker 5 (21:54):
I mean it's it. It hit the Celtics for a
minute and then they got back to winning. I mean,
I thought, what Rick Patina and they went through some times.
The Lakers have been through times that they have. Oh
look at a Golden State. They had a diast and
they're about to Golden State's going to know exactly why
do you think the GM got out? I mean they're
going to go through it at some point in time.
People don't want to People do not want to admit
(22:15):
it because I don't know when it is. I still think.
I mean, they're still loaded, but you lose breath, you can't.
It doesn't matter. And I'm not saying mister Crane's going
to spend the money the way he wants to, and
I get it, but you cannot continue to go that
way and expect to sustain consistency. He just can't, unless,
of course, you're so good in the farm that that
guy that the pain is coming to Replaceack guy. This
(22:37):
guy comes in Replaysack and Billy's right. The center field
job has not been replaced since he left. No, that's
why you've used four or five different guys. Right now
they're trying with it. But the window's not closed. But
at some point in time the Astros are going to
miss the playoffs. They just are now. The key is
how long does that fester? You don't want the good
(22:58):
stuff to go bad all of a sudden, the playoffs
eight years in a row, right, But well, the San
Francisco Giants they went through it every other year, winning
the World Series, and they're competitive, but they're not getting
crowned with the World Series anytime soon. So it just
it happens, and it's going to happen here. You just
hope you can. The inevitable is eventually going to happen.
That window is gonna close, of course it is, and
(23:20):
it may be open a little bit. Right now. It's
still playing. You can fit through there, You and I
can fit through. The question is how long does it go?
But you don't ever You may adjust, but you don't
ever go away from success usually, and they've had success.
Creatures have it. When you make money, what do you do?
You keep investing in the stuff? To make you money.
And with this you keep doing the things success. At
some point in time, you're gonna get hit with the
upside the head with a sledgehammer. Yeah, and you're gonna
(23:42):
have to make some adjustments, whether that's spending more money
or rebuilding a farm, sist whatever it is. It's coming
hopefully it's a decade away. And at the end of
the day, what is Jim Crean? He's a businessman, right,
He has a business strategy when it comes to the astros,
whether we like it or not, and he sticks to it.
How do you think Jim Crane made all his money
being aside from being a hard worker and all that smart,
being a businessman A good one, yeah, right, And it's
(24:03):
worked for him in business and in baseball as baseball's
This is not just a hobby for Jim Crane. He's
got plenty of money without it. But he ain't in
here to fail and he doesn't fail very often. At
some point and it's not failure. If the window closes,
you just got to rebuild it. But like any business
on the planet, stocks go up, I mean, the price
goes up and comes down. You want to buy low,
(24:24):
sell high. It's going to be the same with the business.
At some point in time, we're going to be sitting
here in an off season saying, what are they doing
in free agency? Because a guy retired, a guy signed
somewhere else, one guy got hurt, and they're not a
playoff team. And baseball changes so much that playoff that
all it takes is a couple missteps and can happen.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
So we'll see, and you got to show up. Yeah,
you know what they say about and you know what
they say about business? Right, what the hardest part about business?
Speaker 7 (24:48):
What is that?
Speaker 5 (24:49):
Minding your own?
Speaker 7 (24:50):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (24:50):
There you go go to break? Where'd you get that
quote from Drake? That's the philosopher I want to turn too.
He's a philosophizer. Let's go to break right. Here's percent
seven ninety.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
If you can buy Astro's gear on it, you can
hear us on it usen live for free on any
smart device.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
I'm gonna wheeze like I'm a lifelong smoker because I'm
you know, I was a little out of the weather yesterday,
but we're finally getting over it, getting through.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
No, no, no, I don't do I need the right
hand er. No you do, my good No, do I
need the right hander? No, I'm good, You're good? Yeah, okay,
you play hurt. You try to tell me, yeah, we
don't take days off here. What why are you smoking
when you say it? Because I was waiting for the punchline.
I got those I got those straights actually, although I
threw one at five at yours. See what are you doing?
Speaker 7 (25:43):
Man?
Speaker 5 (25:43):
Chopping sounds like I've been ripping heaters my whole life.
And isn't wrong with a grit? You know, thirty in
the morning. There's a lot wrong with grits, aren't there?
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Do you do you realize that there are people that
the first thing they do when they wake the right now,
they're smoking a grit that is horrible with a cup
of java sitting in the crib back.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
So yeah, black coffee cigarette with no then the non
fil unfiltered, the non filtered. My dad was a lifelong smoker,
and even he didn't do that little black coffee, little
he wake up, little grit shower, grab a coffee. He
was out the door. Now he might have smoked a
grit when he got to the shop, you know. And
(26:19):
they just brush your teeth with your fingers. You know,
some people like to take their fingernails and just get
all the film off. Nasty what you got the exactly too?
After that, I don't know, your breat smells exactly like
your ass. Oh yes, it just smells like you know
what smells like you got the exactly Yeah, man, breast
smells exactly like your ass after you go grit and
black coffee without and then then then leave. I mean,
(26:41):
if you're that guy, now take a toothbrush with you. Yeah,
there you go, just take it with you. Yeah, you know,
brush the tongue. Okay, okay, let me ask you guys
this what one deal breaker on a relationship, your dating.
Give me the one thing the girl that smokes cigarettetes.
Oh yeah, that's the biggest turn off ever. See to me,
(27:03):
it's full hygiene. It's not your cigarettes. Oh yeah, I
agree full. I mean, you can you can say something stupid.
Speaker 7 (27:09):
We all do.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
You can have one of those days where you're pissed
off and you're you're mean. You know I can handle that. Now,
if you're a constant ask clown and you're mean, I'll
tell you another things that can kill it from me
is people who down talk to people that that are
that are literally but completely be living but mean to
people that they feel can't help them. You know what
I'm saying. I hate that. You know, the person who
(27:32):
may be gone through some is maybe a little different
than the rest of us, right, and they treat them
horribly that I'm done. That'll, that'll you'll get a right
hook to the to the kitchen, I'm just telling you.
But for me, it's those you know, all those things
that come with it. You're just mean to people all
the time, and and that kind of stuff where you're
(27:53):
looking to pick a fire every time somebody says something.
You just are constantly on the defense that that's like
not a per Saudi flaw, that's just like character character,
the character, and that that's just that's constant toxic. Who
wants a part of that? But for me, the number
one deal killer is with with aside from the obvious,
is bad hygiene. Yeah, I mean to where, oh dude,
(28:16):
where you can't on a nasty dunk, Yeah, dude, you can't,
Like if you're with the chicken. It's got bad breath
when you're drinking too. And then they mix in that
wine sharden egg which there and it just sits on
their tongue. No, and they always want a French. Stop it.
You can't say kiss, you gotta say French. You know,
it's just and when you're kiss and you're kissing, but
(28:38):
when you're like younger and you're growing up, French, get French.
Yeah yeah, yeah, we did know that. You know what
I'm talking about? Bad hygiene from head to toes, bad toes,
you know, funky like like like well you got wolf toes,
you know all that stuff, And no, you can't do it.
I'm not and I'm not listening one thing. I am.
(28:58):
You're not judging. I am judge. Oh I am completely
a what do they call it? A?
Speaker 11 (29:03):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (29:04):
If you're a a a snob hygiene snob, no question. Yes,
I come to your crib and there's forty seven dishes
in the sink and it's like two day of mold.
That'll be the last time I'm at your crib. And
I don't care about how much money you make. I
don't care if it's you living in a shack. Yeah,
but you can keep the shack clean, right, And I
don't care if you spend money on clothes, but you
can wash them and keep them clean. Does that make
(29:25):
it that's what I'm talking. Care about all the other
pomp and circumstances, the stuff you can't control. I guess
what I'm saying. So for me, and I'm sure he listen,
I can be a complete prick and all. I get
all that. But one thing I'm not going to ever
do have that hygiene exactly, or clutter in my sink.
Those things I can control. Okay, Well, Sean, what if
you don't have a washer and dryer? I get it,
(29:45):
there's washing. I grew up. Guess what better? Get better?
Get out and listen. I grew up where you hung
them out on the clothes line. Yeah, okay, because it
was cheaper and actually smell pretty damn fresh because you
put out there with you know what I'm saying, As
long as you dirt's not kicking up. But I don't
care about all the stuff you If you don't have
any money, that's fine. But and if you have holes
in your jeans, not the ones that are intentional and
(30:07):
you have to wear the same ones every day, you
can't clean keep them clean. So that's the deal killer
for me is bad hygiene. JK. Is your your girlfriend
listening to us this morning or your boyfriend. Whatever you choose.
Nobody's judging from the valley and she's asleep right now.
Is she okay? From the valley? That's where in the
valley Edinburgh in McAllen area. Oh yeah, that's like right
(30:30):
on the border. So he's another one of my esco
McCall Okay, hold on, dumb question here. Latin? Is she Latina? Yes?
What is it with our producers in the Latina? He
loves Latinas too. When I told them, he was like, man,
you have them me on see see. And I'm from
(30:51):
a Hispanic town in Escondido, California, down in San Diego area,
so I'm from there. Brian's from you know, white all
the time, every drinking white wine, cancers and stuff, you know,
for the bead streets of John Conroe. And you're a
little bit younger, right, yeah, okay, do you know about
Spring High School?
Speaker 8 (31:10):
Na?
Speaker 5 (31:13):
If you don't know, he says, Valley the first of mccollan. Yeah, McCallen, Yeah,
Latina did.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
Did Stripley by chance tell you the story about him
and uh the Latina chick that he met? No, he
told us on air, so I'm comfortable him and his
boys went to a spot and uh he he pulled. Yeah,
he liked this Latina chicken, but he didn't even get
her name because she barely spoke.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
So well, we had this running gag with him about, hey,
when are we going to go down to I forgot
the name of the spot, but uh, we'll go find her.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
And he was like, oh man, she's what he said.
McConn I said, yeah, there you go. Jonathan's he'd he'd
do well in my community, but in Spring, you just
be it's like all white all the time. So Bryan's community,
you guys get to go to the probably a concert
and watch what you guys don't know anything about the
other side of the tracks, Dude, I lived on the
(32:04):
other side of the tracks. Yeah, the side that had
like like like four thousand square feet main house. Stop it, dude, Yeah,
the main house. Right, you go on the east side
of forty five.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
Ask anybody between nineteen sixty and pretty much twenty nine
twenty now, even though these highway I don't know where
these wars twenty there's got to be some people from
Spring listening to me right now, and they know exactly
where I'm talking from or not the client side. I'm
talking to Spring high Side. Somebody call in seven five
seven times from the east side of forty five for
(32:38):
the levee of God.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
Have you ever noticed whenever anybody says the east side
in their community, it's east side. Have you ever noticed, like,
f'ture from the east side, it's from like the it's
always the beast part of day. It's right if you
don't go to the east side. Hey, where you from?
From the east side? Yeah? East side?
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Damn dude, connect Am I welcome you to because there's
like this like the west side is like the the
you know, you're always joke and like what side and
east side? If you if you're the east Side, you're
tough guy, right exactly. If you're west Side, you're like
what a country club? Would you have to dinner last
night for the fourth day in a row? Yeah, Salisbury steak.
Don't you don't want to eat that steak?
Speaker 5 (33:13):
No, you don't. And Johnathan, don't let this man for you.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
There was like Nordstrom and Saxopith Avenue and Escondido Starbucks.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
Don't kid yourself. He's never waltzed into Disko because he's scared,
because my my my essays, will open up a can
on his ass. Yeah, he he he tries to loud
talk him. And one time I went home and they said, hey,
don't bring ma here. I came and that guy that
the man ghost man, don't bring him here, bring him
(33:42):
to shake him home, saus guns. That's gotta be just
the easy way. We don't want to hear the knife
penetrating to shoot you. Hell, hey, John Roger will get
you guy next year. Fan rolling out and stealing this
stuff right out of McCowan. Yeh man, when you could pull,
(34:05):
you could pull. Look at a handsome guy. Man, I know, man,
I thought I figured she'd be listening to this morning
excited for you. Can we just get her first name
without giving away identities? JK, what's her name? First name? Ana? Yeah, Evana? Man,
she's with JAK these days. Man, he ran trackets. Hey, man,
we didn't go to it. We didn't go to school. Man,
Evanna's probably saved. Why is he talking like that?
Speaker 4 (34:27):
Seven one, three, two two five, seven ninety will uh
take your calls?
Speaker 16 (34:31):

Speaker 17 (35:29):
Okay, back in the day we had our own rodeo,
so out here west Side fair, so you want to
talk about on.
Speaker 5 (35:37):
The other side of the tracks.
Speaker 17 (35:38):
And I remember back in the day you go over
there from Carbondale at Guessner and Tigue and all that
and old Hymnstead. You could go to two different school
districts and probably three different schools.
Speaker 18 (35:48):
So starting this west Side stuff, come on also to
real quick, guys, I kind of go ahead and say it.
Speaker 13 (35:54):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (35:55):
I had the you know, so on the in the
evening time, I listened to that.
Speaker 18 (35:57):
Talk show that's just listening. They don't let why talk.
They want to hear themselves blow viate. But they brought
up the same stuff you'll brought up yesterday about getting
somebody else a chance and call plays. And be honest
with you, I really didn't didn't really look at it.
But there's been quite a bit.
Speaker 7 (36:11):
Of changes made back in the day. So I'll hang
up and listen. God bless you again once again, Happy thanksgiving.
Speaker 5 (36:16):
Them out Thanksgiving brother. The Uh, I don't it usually
doesn't serve you well to make switches this late in
the season play calling. But if you and it's not
going to happen here. There's no way that Bobby Slow
(36:36):
going to get stripped of this unless they go five
weeks or the Jaguars. I've bet some changes are made well,
depending on how they lose, if they if they how
it looks, yeah, I mean if the optics say that,
then you may have to have a come to Jesus
with him. But after the problem is you've got to
guard against. What message does it send to the staff?
Speaker 13 (36:56):
Now?
Speaker 5 (36:56):
Does everybody get a little well if I don't do them,
do they start treading, you know, a little bit tiptoeing
through this stuff. You don't want that to happen. I
don't think we're there with Bobby slokit. I get fans frustration,
but I got news for you. No disrespect of fans.
You and I are in the same media fans that
we sit in there. We watch the games just like
everybody else does, and our fans do. The fans of
(37:16):
the Texans do. We watch in person, are at home.
But what I know that we don't know is what
they do right to us when we see it. It
seems like such a simple fix. How are you calling that?
On third and one? The same third and one call
that you didn't get last week or two weeks ago,
and then you got the next week. Guess what, same call,
better execution, and now we love them for making the
(37:37):
call you want to. On third and one, a guy
makes a play action fake and bootlegs naked and gets
a first down or throws the ball to the flat
for a first down. What are you saying, Brian, I
like his balls, man, look at his guts, right, And
then the next time you do it third and one
and it gets batted down with the lion of scrimmage.
What's first thing fans say, or media or all of us,
Why didn't you hand it to mix it?
Speaker 7 (37:57):
Right?
Speaker 5 (37:59):
It's all about that very next one. Now, if you're
just a guy who's clueless and it continued like what
the Jets did, they said, man get hacked out, you
know we would demote him, put somebody else in Todd downing.
It hasn't really done much. And the truth of the
matter is the guy throwing it hasn't executed the way
he's supposed to. So that's part of it as well
the player. So I get what I understand. Okay, So
(38:21):
what's the answer. Let's just say here that we were
distraught at seven and five and every and then. I
think Demiko Ryans is very cognizant of if you were
to say we're going to go with a different direction
on play caller, what message would that send to everybody?
I confess, whose fault is it? It's not the left tackle,
(38:43):
it's not the right guard, which is taking away their
accountability and shifting the whole thing on one guy's shoulders. Yes, well,
and if it's true, it's true, then you do it.
I'm not saying you don't do it if your team
gets I'm all for player, coach, whatever makes my team better.
I'm not in the hey man, are you? I want
want you to be my friend business, So I'm not
(39:03):
going to make a change. Screw that I hired you
and I can also demote you, or I can also
promote you. But in the Bobby slok because he's in
a position where we know, just like a quarterback and
a head coach and the coordinators on both sides, when
things go wrong, a guy could miss a tackle and
guess whose fault it is. It's a good Tomiko doing
It's his fault. No, the guy was in position, he
put his head down it's his fault, right.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
What did we hear so much when Dusty Baker was
a manager here and you saw fastballs get right down
the you know what, right down Broadway get hit a mile?
Speaker 5 (39:30):
Why would they?
Speaker 8 (39:31):
Why?
Speaker 5 (39:31):
Why is he piss Dusty's fault? Right?
Speaker 19 (39:34):
Right?
Speaker 5 (39:34):
Of course, So that's just the way it works, and
we all are guilty of that. But you don't want
to get caught up in the I confess he did it.
But let's just say you made the switch to Jerrod Johnson,
who's an or. I don't care who quarterback coach or
the wider whoever it is you decide is ready to
call place. And let's say you're like, you are worse,
(39:57):
not saying because the play card, just the execution. You're
playing against goodmes and you're struggling. Let's just say that
you go through that, right, Yeah, and now you're you're
you're late in the season and that hasn't worked. What
are you going back to Bobby Slope? Yeah? And now
you've now everybody's saying, well, both of them, we got
to hear rid of both of them, when in truth,
(40:17):
it may have been a simple play of quarterback miss throw.
Receiver ran the wrong route, Girod made the right or
wrong call, Bobby Slope made it happens, you're just putting
yourself in a point and then give in essence lost
the coordinator. I mean when you get demoted like that,
I mean you think, I, well, Hackett's got a job.
You think in his mind he's thinking, man, they love
me here, or he's thinking the next step is out
the door. Right, and with what's going on coaching, change
(40:40):
hasn't done a hill, done a damn thing in New York,
done a damn thing. So my thing is if it's
not working, I don't mind adjusting training, but we can't
when things are struggling. You're still in first place. All
of a sudden say he sucks because last year the
same guy that people think isn't making the right call,
they wanted him to be a head coach in the
NFL and said he's the best off and some coordinator
(41:00):
in the league. So a year later he forgot. All
of them are struggling right now, including Bobby Schlok. He's
got to get better or you will see change, right,
But I just I guard against it. So we all
sit back and think we know more. I guarantee when
they're watching film, they go over this. Demiico Ryans is
not dumb. He understands the execution of what's going on.
So from our vantage point, we always want it to
(41:21):
be perfect. It's never gonna be perfect, never, but you
want to get it as close to excellent as you can.
And this year they have taken a step back, and
that's just a fact. Doesn't mean you can't take another
step forward. Right I'm always cognizant of win in doubt.
I almost think you're better off by saying we're gonna
you know, how do we fight through this? Because I
(41:42):
don't want it to be one guy being blamed, even
if it is one guy fault. You gotta guard good
head coaches know how to manage that. And I understood. Listen,
great leaders just don't at the first side of adversity
turn and run and start blaming somebody. That team that
does that, you can forget it. They're done. So we'll
see about three more weeks of this struggling and maybe
you will in December make a change. Right now, I
(42:04):
don't think it's time. Let's hope we don't get to
that point. Seven one, three, two, two, five seven ninety
is the number to join. We'll get out to all
your phone calls next as we get in the seven
o'clock hour right here on Sports Talk seven ninety AD.

drinking day of the year. I think it's today, If
I'm not mistaken. I think statistics over the course of
time say that today tonight, the night before Thanksgiving, is
the biggest drinking day of the year. Sleep in, wake up,
(43:13):
get the turkey, you sit around all day, you're gonna
eat and do it. I think that may have changed,
but of a handful of years ago it was. If
I'm wrong, somebody correct me. But I think it is
the most the biggest drinking day of the year. Let's
get to Roger. Roger, Welcome in Man, what's happening? Yeah,
we got you.
Speaker 7 (43:34):

those dating stats. Man, it could have lost that game
all kinds of ways yet and they found a way
to get it done. So I hope you can see
more of that. And on the astros, Man, what was
(44:26):
good in twenty seventeen?
Speaker 7 (44:28):
You know things.
Speaker 21 (44:29):
Plans, floor plans and electrical coach. They all become adequated. Man,
and so so does that strategy again in twenty seventeen. Man,
that's not gonna work anymore.
Speaker 18 (44:38):
Man.
Speaker 7 (44:39):
Kukuchi was a beautiful fit with us.
Speaker 21 (44:41):
He might not even fit anybody else with the Angels
or wherever.
Speaker 7 (44:43):
You know.
Speaker 21 (44:44):
I think sixty three million was not a whole lot
of a reach man to keep a guy like that,
because he fit well within us with them. And if
you don't ask me, you don't believe me. Just asked
Jerry Jones. Are things of working over in Dallas I'm
looking at with fellas.
Speaker 5 (44:56):
Thank you, Roger, enjoy that golf game. Brother, hit him
straight to left left. You got to be able to
shape your shot and attack every frigging pen. That's my fly.
Is that your motto? Yeah? Attack them all? So I
don't care if you got a short sided, you go
at it. You didn't come here to lay up the amateur.
Speaker 7 (45:11):
That's why.
Speaker 5 (45:13):
Frag stick. I think Roger will tack it. He seems
like a guy, but he also feels like a guy
that he's I feel like Rogers in the fairway a lot.
I would hope maybe not long, but a chance to attack,
a chance he's in the short grass. That's how I
feel about Rogers game. I think he's probably a really
good putter. And at the end of the way, yeah,
stay away from the fescue. Yeah, you gotta stay away
(45:35):
from the fascue. There's no doubt you don't want to
go or the Poyana. Poyanna's tough out there at Riviera
Country Club. I'll tell you what else I think about
Rogers game. Roger feels like he dresses for success on
the course. You know, I'm a bit I like that
look right good. I think Roger probably belt matches, the shoes,
(45:55):
shirt always tucked in, you know, so I think you
probably he's got the nowadays. You know what used to
be You go on a golf course and untucked shirts
were frowned upon. Yeah, but that's I love how it's
changed everybody. I do, not only with untucket, but even
we dot matter. If you've got a Travis Matthew or
or Kobe Stevens, sure you're a lot of guys are
(46:16):
playing untucked. It's more comfortable and those private, stuffy courses
are no longer. Hey, we'd like your shirt tucked and
then the NFL. I'm not getting fined for having my
jersey on top. You don't get you don't get looked
out sideways. Yeah, and if you then the sideways person,
I'll leave the golf course out. But there's a place
in Scottsdale that's it's that has a lot of great well,
(46:37):
it's it's probably out of most people's price league, including
I mean that you need to be invited, so you
beg your friend to invite you, right, yeah, but the
person who owns it a lot of money. Yeah, and
it's in a very it's in well, it's like kind
of like when you grow up, you know, in one
of those neighborhoods, you know, like four million dollar guest houses.
Speaker 6 (46:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (46:57):
The truth is you and I grew up exactly to say,
good fan paycheck to paycheck never never work in their
ass off. Right, So you go out there, and initially
there was a person who complained about music too loud.
You can drive the golf club respect it. I mean
they're golf carts driving up. Some guys are playing tennis
shoes barefoot, and it's a one of those ultra exclusive places.
(47:21):
Yet like me, guys who are just cool you know,
guys and women they're just like fun golf, but are
good players. And if you're not a good player, they
have fun. Somebody complained about it, and guess what the
person did. They get rid of that person, not the
person who's untucked or in barefoot, who are playing loud
rock and roll music or having a blast. It's that
(47:41):
if you're going to play that type, now, you'd be
respectful if you're playing, But don't come joining this golf
courtse try to join this golf course for all the
money costs to join and then be complaining because the
members it's a member's course. If you join it, you
want to be able to, Hey, have a good time.
With the grills closed, they open it so you can
have a burger. If you're drinking a beer and sit
at there right on the fairway and you're twenty five
(48:02):
feet from the green and you're not an idiot and
driving on the green, take care of it. That's it.
So same thing, right, you know, don't the nowadays doesn't matter.
Untucked they're doing it right. Yeah, I have time. Yeah,
just enjoy yourself until you're getting paid to do it. Hell,
even in some place like live to her they're playing
in shorts, right, we saw it and keep it untucked.
If you like, there you go. So I like the
(48:22):
change in golf. Now we just need guys to yell
in the middle of a swing and see how yeah
that goes? Seven seven ninety John, what's going on?
Speaker 7 (48:32):
Hey? Good morning?
Speaker 23 (48:33):
And at first of all, I want to wish you
guys a happy Thanksgiving.
Speaker 7 (48:36):
Everybody over there.
Speaker 5 (48:37):
You too, buddy, Thank you, Hey, Sean.
Speaker 23 (48:40):
I think the reason this is a big drinking day
is because of the travelers too. There's a lot of
people that are going to miss their flights and they're
gonna end up sauntering on the plane when they're gonna
be rough.
Speaker 5 (48:51):
Yeah, John, But you go into a bar like tonight,
like a good place, you know that that it'll be packed.
Family comes to town, kids are home from right now,
they're old enough to drink. So because I remember when
my kids came home from college when I was living
in Dallas, and we'd go with twenty of their buddies,
we take and we'd go to the bar and we'd
have a ball. You wake up a little tired, but
(49:13):
the smell of the victuals you get up and start
cooking a five. You didn't care because you know, you
had the whole thing, the whole week and to catch
back up. So yeah, it's a it's a fun night.
And the college kids come home and see all their
buddies from high school that they haven't seen in a year,
so it's it's pretty cool. Yeah, but you're right about that. Yeah,
you're right.
Speaker 23 (49:28):
And Brian, you gott to warn us when you're gonna
sing along to a woman like Dolly party that was brutal.
Speaker 5 (49:33):
Is your dog?
Speaker 7 (49:34):
My dog? My dog is sitting over there in the corner.
He hasn't blinked.
Speaker 5 (49:37):
Yeah, you've done that all right. When John's not telling
you his dog died, John, John, what's your dog's name?
Speaker 7 (49:45):
Is a shooter?
Speaker 24 (49:46):
Right?
Speaker 7 (49:46):
Shooter?
Speaker 5 (49:47):
Yeah, shooter Shooter. It's okay, Sorry, he'll get, he'll get,
He'll get plenty of scraps tomorrow. He'll be okay. By
Brian shot, Brian shot is shot and missed.
Speaker 7 (50:00):
A big mys Hey.
Speaker 23 (50:02):
I wanted to weigh in on the Astros a little bit.
I talked I waited enough on the Texans, but but
you know, I understand the ASTROS philosophy what they're trying
to do. I mean, they you know, we had Springer
in his best years, we had Korea in his best years. Arguably,
we had Bragman in his best years. He's not going
to get any better. And you know, Springer or Korea
(50:22):
didn't get any better in fact, so you know that
you could argue they took a step back, but you know,
the idea is to just get these players when they're
young and develop them. And there's nobody that's developed players
better than the Astros. And uh, the only the only
problem I have is when they traded away those three
guys uh last year to Toronto, and you know, we
(50:43):
didn't keep Kakuci. So I'm a bit upset at that.
But but understand what Crane's trying. I understand that philosophy,
and I think that's why the Astros have been able
to maintain.
Speaker 7 (50:54):
You know, excellence throughout all these years.
Speaker 23 (50:56):
I mean, we won two World Series, we come close
a few times, and we always been you know, basically
a player, you know, like you know, like in the
standings of what's going on, and you know, and I
think they're going to continue with that.
Speaker 5 (51:08):
Model, and I agree with it, actually, but I just
wish they.
Speaker 23 (51:11):
Hadn't, like given up those three ballplayers like they did
if they weren't going to Keepkokuchi. That's that's the thing
that pains me. But but I understand, you know, I think,
uh you know, they're gonna hopefully they try.
Speaker 7 (51:24):
They have some things in.
Speaker 23 (51:26):
Their farm system that they think can come through for him,
and we'll see. I mean, I'm ready to move on
from Bregman if that's the case. And uh, you know,
I I like to see young players developed, to be honest,
So uh you know, we'll see what happens.
Speaker 5 (51:39):
It's always John, thank you man, and happy to enjoy it.
You appreciate you brother. Uh you know what's interesting, is
it true? That's the hard part. I'm with John one
hundred percent.
Speaker 7 (51:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (51:50):
If it would have been a one for one like
Kakuchi for a player, but not in the mix after
you got him and he didn't, like you mentioned in
such a valid point by we didn't even get to
see him in the postseason. Actually was really really good.
He was the best pitcher down the stretch for you right, yes, ever,
and they had a chance to win every start and
only lost one. And in that game he gave up
like two runs or three runs, but not even to
(52:13):
be in play. So basically you lost four players, is
what you did, and three that have aspirations of being
really good. And I was all for it at the time,
and he's here in the division still, right, and I
was all forwarded, So it's like a five spot. I
was all fured at the time, and it was validated
by the way he pitched. But when you lose him
and you only get him for like ten or eleven
or twelve starts whatever it was, now it's like, damn,
(52:36):
was it worth it?
Speaker 19 (52:36):
Now?
Speaker 5 (52:36):
If that dude goes out and wins eighteen games at
in Anaheim, which is tough to do because they're pitching,
and then you then then then you're like, oh my gosh, yeah,
that'll be a bummer. But I hope you have a plan.
How do you part with Fromber now? How do you
not sign him? Or do you yeah? Or are you
(52:58):
concerned about it? Do you move him for? Is it
now the time to go get prospects for him or
current players or are you now like, how do we
give up another left handed guy who's got great stuff?
But and we know what the butt is, right, yeah?
Who is he? Can he control his emotions all the time,
but losing Kakuchie. I think that this thing is you
(53:21):
had him for a couple of months, was it? Yeah,
And I think that. But that's the risk you take
in the rental and you thought you'd go deeper, but
you never got a chance to run him out to
the mount of the postseason. That's that's the thing that
sucks the most is he didn't get to pitch in
the playoffs. Yep, no doubt that hurts.
Speaker 4 (53:34):
Seven seven. I will continue to take your calls. Let's
get to the stakeout next in sports Talk seven ninety.
It's just ingrain in my head, you know what I mean?
It's okay, he's better. No, I wouldn't say that, man,
would you do? Run a few sprints?
Speaker 5 (53:47):
Buddy? We need a trainer with some oxygen here. You
need a trainer here. I need a trainer dying out here,
dog man, this is the steak out. It's a more
quiet steakout today, though. What happened? A man? You all right?
I'm good. It's a little hot in here though. I
turned it down, thank you. A yeah, you're all right.
Speaker 7 (54:11):
I'm good.
Speaker 5 (54:11):
I'm a little worried about you. Man, I'm all right. Man,
do We need to get you, uh some oxygen. Yeah,
you're good. I'll carry one of those little cannishes. Just
Ransom sprints in all way. Yeah, gotta get your cardio
in man, No days off a lot with some quick twitch.
Sudden you were sudden. Nice in the mirror. You like
(54:32):
how you put your foot in the ground, came back
towards the quarterback on that curl route. Nice clip clip
throw your ball, good quick game. Yeah anything, he's right
down the hall.
Speaker 7 (54:42):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (54:43):
There's no doubt. Man, gather you. They take a deep
breath of one more time. Breathe out there. You go
in through the nose, out through the mouth. Don't sit there,
you go calm yourself. It's just a radio show. We're
good life, We're good, I know. But it's just to
think about somebody else that's getting up. What they're doing today. Yeah,
they're talking all on vacation. We're working. That's a good point.
There's literally nobody here besides seven forty our sister station, KTRH.
(55:08):
How are they doing in sales? Sunny ninety nine to one.
How's the sales pit over there? Ghost town? Ghost town?
It is?
Speaker 7 (55:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (55:15):
Now rod Ryan shows off today. Uh, what do they think?
This is a country club in nintild The kPr C.
What's their morning show? What with Kenny Webster? What's their
morning show?
Speaker 7 (55:29):
What do you?
Speaker 5 (55:31):
What are you doing with the one with off? What
are you talking about the name of the show? Yeah?
What's there? The what is there? Walton Johnson?
Speaker 8 (55:41):
My god?
Speaker 5 (55:42):
Why are you looking at you like that? Because that's
we've said it like eight million I know, and I can't.
I couldn't remember. Maybe that sais that oxygen? You're not
getting your head right now? Well, I'm just saying I'm
out here grinding. You really are grinding, you know what?
Go ahead and get on him.
Speaker 25 (55:53):
Where we are?
Speaker 5 (55:53):
What is this country club?
Speaker 7 (55:54):
What are we doing?
Speaker 5 (55:57):
Have they paid their initiation for yet?
Speaker 7 (56:00):
Dues?
Speaker 5 (56:00):
Obviously dues? Come on, so give me a come on, son?
I thought we were one band, one sound. Well I
know on this show we're what do we want? Team?
One heartbeat? Damn right, damn right, one band, one sound.
It's right. I'm quite literally out of breath. I gotta
figure that out. Are you okay?
Speaker 7 (56:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (56:17):
Yeah, I didn't want to be late, you know, man,
I'll tell you though your hell for about ten seconds,
so sure, you bring it. It's not there, it's not her,
it's you, right, Yeah, I got you, b Yeah. Man,
it's quiet steak out today. Yeah, let me stand up.
You are right, well yeah, but the it's just a
quiet steakout, it is okay, Well, it's all right, quiet
steaouts worksything. You don't have to. We don't have to
(56:39):
overload our mouth with our ass. We're good, just nice.
And it's a day before Thanksgiving. So if you remember,
Bill called us yesterday and thought we were gonna be
awesome and then hung up on us and decided he'd
call in today. We see what Bill wants to talk about.
What's up?
Speaker 7 (56:50):
Bill?
Speaker 19 (56:53):
Oh, you guys are killing me. So I'm glad you
are here today. We really, we all really appreciate you guys.
We're glad you're in here and we will yeh.
Speaker 5 (57:00):
Screw you.
Speaker 19 (57:01):
Bill.
Speaker 5 (57:01):
You're sitting home, listen and probably having a bloody mary
and we're sitting here working not for another hour. There
you go. But what's on your mind today? Man?
Speaker 22 (57:11):
Well, first, I.
Speaker 19 (57:11):
Got the I got your I got the Jonathan Allen reference.
Speaker 22 (57:14):
Okay, Jonathan Allen, there you go.
Speaker 19 (57:16):
Sounds like sounds like the senior from Syracuse who scored
the game winning goal in the Lacrosse National Championship game.
Speaker 5 (57:25):
Yeah, it's true, and you know good lacrosse at East
Coast Lacrosse. It just beat Johns Hopkins. Right, that's the time, right,
I got you.
Speaker 7 (57:32):
I'm with you.
Speaker 22 (57:32):
That sounds like that. That sounds like Jonathan Keith Allen scored.
Speaker 5 (57:35):
The game winning goal. And he spends and he spends
spring break at the at the Mansions in in Newport,
Right Island, right on out in the hand of the somewhere,
and his dad's the CEO and he's on the border
regents at Syracuse. There you go. I'm with you, brother,
there you go.
Speaker 19 (57:52):
So I so there are only fifty seven other people
in the country that like it. I am a huge
Thanksgiving green cream green bean cast roll with the dried
onions on top.
Speaker 26 (58:04):
That's it.
Speaker 19 (58:04):
Nobody else in the country eats that. Everybody says, I
can't stand it. There's fifty eight others out there.
Speaker 5 (58:09):
I'm one of them, well out a fifty ninth because
I'm making a four cheese, a four cheese green bean
castroll that's baked. Yes, ooh yeah, I add four different
cheeses to it. And yeah, there's no doubt. So I
think green beans. I don't know who doesn't like. I mean,
maybe it's fifty eight. But the way you're those those
you can't even really taste the onions. They add a
(58:30):
little texture of what you're talking about. The drive. Yeah,
I'm with I'm with you. One good a good thick
cheese green bean cast role, no doubt, brother, I'm going
with you.
Speaker 19 (58:41):
I'm gonna have to mention that tomorrow the gal the
gals who are prepping dinner. I read online this morning
and if you guys have seen this, Texas the Texas
Tech or Texas and m Texas.
Speaker 7 (58:51):
Came this weekend.
Speaker 19 (58:52):
Is now the highest priced regular season college football game
in history?
Speaker 22 (59:00):
Is it nearly eleven?
Speaker 5 (59:02):
Is that nearly eleven?
Speaker 19 (59:03):
At nearly eleven, nearly eleven hundred dollars per per ticket
and average of eleven hundred.
Speaker 5 (59:10):
Yep, that's the path so somewhere between the highst the
seats and the upper deck and the low the average
is eleven hundred. The nose bleeds shown and going for
one thousand dollars. Well, I got news for a TV
looks good.
Speaker 4 (59:22):
You should see the hotel rooms bill. Have you seen
the hotel prices. No, sir, they're like sixteen hundred bucks
a night.
Speaker 5 (59:30):
Hey, you gotta love you gotta love the rivalry even
bringing it back, I get it if you can afford it.
That's that's a steep price in the history of college sports.
Is that what you're saying to me? It's the highest
average the history of college football? College football, Yeah, that's unbelievable.
Yeah for a regular season game.
Speaker 19 (59:45):
Yeah, And like Georgia Georgia Texas two weeks ago is
on that five list. I think the Notre Dame, Ohio
State game is on on that list. Uh uh, you
said rivalry. I wanted to talk about yesterday. Ask you
about Notre Dame and Southern Cal. Remember when Notre Dame
versus Southern Cal was a valued game in college football?
Speaker 8 (01:00:06):
I know you do.
Speaker 5 (01:00:07):
Oh well I was. I was that when it was valued. Yeah,
you part you were part of it.
Speaker 22 (01:00:12):
But isn't it isn't it kind of almost kind of sobering?
Speaker 19 (01:00:14):
The Southern Cal Notre Dame is just just another college
football game in November now.
Speaker 5 (01:00:19):
Yeah, over the over the Thanksgiving week and we're like, oh,
that's right. Everybody sees playing Notre Dame. Right, Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah,
there's no doubt.
Speaker 19 (01:00:27):
Every every year it's out there. Every other year's out
there after after Thanksgiving, and every other year it's at
Notre Dame in the middle of October.
Speaker 7 (01:00:34):
YEP, guarantee. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:00:35):
And and Bill isn't it isn't Notre Dame in this.
Aren't they fifth in the country. I think that, I
think that I think they last thing right, And you
know what the truth is, this is a huge I
mean s se Lincoln Riley can kind of save how
it's been for him this year. And I mean, you
beat both your rivals in U C. L A Notre
Dame back to back, and you can disrupt Notre Dame
seed and and and and yet nobody's talking about it.
(01:00:58):
I get it, they're not. And I don't blame him
for talking Texas text A and M. But it's kind
of a bummer because Notre Dame, Notre Dame has to
treat this like it's a national championship game. And for
SC I promise you, this rivalry on the stage is
bigger than the UCLA one. When I play, you wanted
to beat UCLA because the guys you went to high
school with and you were around. You know, we're what
twelve miles apart, But this is the this is the one.
(01:01:22):
John McKay said it in the locker room. He said
it in our locker room when he came as a
guest speaker when we were playing at Notre Dame. He said,
as he was a guest speaker for our head coach.
We didn't know he was doing it. He came in.
It's like, oh my gosh, Coach McKay's here. And he said,
it doesn't matter where you play in the NFL, how
much money you make, doesn't matter if you play in
a super Bowl, doesn't matter what game you play in,
(01:01:42):
you will never remember a game more than this one.
And he was talking about Southern Cal Notre Dame. That
was Saturday. That was Friday, after our walkthrough. All right,
I take that that was coach told us on Friday
we were having a guest speaker on Saturday pregame. Coach
McKay walked in and said that to us. And you
want to talk about a bunch of guys wanting to
jump through the wall. It was it was unbelieved. So
(01:02:02):
you're exactly right. This rivalry right now is oh by
the way which is which is a bummer for those
of us who played in it.
Speaker 19 (01:02:10):
As a kid growing up in the seventies early seventies,
Ohio State and Michigan and then Nebraska Oklahoma when that
used to be good yep, and Southern Cal, Southern Cal
Notre Dames.
Speaker 22 (01:02:21):
Those were the three must sea games. I had to
watch on TV as.
Speaker 19 (01:02:24):
A kid, yep, every year, and I could still I
could still see fifty years later.
Speaker 22 (01:02:29):
It's been fifty years, Sean.
Speaker 5 (01:02:31):
Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 19 (01:02:31):
Anthony Anthony, Anthony, Anthony Anthony da Anthony Davis running back
kickoffs against six.
Speaker 5 (01:02:38):
Touchdowns ass six touchdowns in the game too.
Speaker 19 (01:02:41):
Kicking or ask fifty five twenty four. I'll never forget
that for the rest of my life.
Speaker 5 (01:02:44):
Anyhow.
Speaker 19 (01:02:45):
You guys, have a great weekend. We appreciate you, guys,
and we'll talk next week.
Speaker 5 (01:02:50):
Great to talk to you byell. Thank you, and you
can throw another one in there that I that I love.
And this year it's really meaningful too. It's always meaningful
because it's a if there's a bigger picture to it
as the Army Navy game, but that it should stand
alone in December like it does. He's right, man, you
didn't Johnny Rodgers and Greg Pruett Oklahoma Nebraska tear away jerseys.
(01:03:10):
You couldn't miss it on a weekend. And we get
this one here at Texas Texas A and HMBO. Damn time,
that's a lot. I didn't know that Bill's I did
not know it was the highest ticket college football history
college price.
Speaker 4 (01:03:21):
I just looked at stub Hub, and depending on what
section in the very very very nosebleed top I found prices.
The lowest I found six hundred and three dollars for
the nosebleeds, and then it ranges basically between six hundred
and eleven hundred dollars for nosebleeds. I don't know if
you're been up to the nosebleeds A Kyle Field, it's
miserable up there.
Speaker 5 (01:03:42):
Oh my god. I want people who call in, regardless
if you're calling in about the college football or the
astros of the Texans, at least give me your idea.
And if you want to call on specifically, where's your
limit on a regular season college football game?
Speaker 18 (01:03:54):
Too?
Speaker 5 (01:03:54):
Al price for your ticket? If you're an A and
M guy, I'd love to hear from A and M
people and Longhorns about this and if you're not one
of them, wherever you went to school, like, is there
a college game on that you would pay? Regular season game? Now,
I know this one's different because of the time it's
been off, and I get the in state part of it.
I want to know who pays that for a to
(01:04:15):
go watch four quarters of football?
Speaker 4 (01:04:17):
Let us know seven one three, two one two five
at seven ninety, open up the phone lines. Got a
couple guys who want to get in. And of course,
like Shawn just said, Texas and Texas A and m
alum if are you gonna pay for a six hundred
dollars nosebleed ticket or for your alumni whatever that case is,
let us know. Let's let's talk about it. Next spour
stock seven eighty. Get out to the phone line seven
one three two two five seven einty up.
Speaker 5 (01:04:37):
First, Good morning, Good morning.
Speaker 25 (01:04:39):
Guys, Good morning, Sean, goodmore, and Brian, how you doing,
good man, Good morning. I just want to talk about
maybe Demico Ryan's persona as a players coach might be
affecting the Texans cause this whole Laramie Tunsl, the offensive line.
Larimie Tunsl is the top five offensive tackle and and
(01:05:00):
he's the most penalized and all seven nothing has been done.
Speaker 7 (01:05:04):
It's it's a recurring thing.
Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
I just want to hear your.
Speaker 25 (01:05:08):
Takes about maybe Demico Ryans not being too stern Becausehan,
earlier in the week, you said something about Mike Tomlin,
you know, the Steelers coach, how he's so assertive, aggressive,
and the Steelers defense is very disciplined, and the offense
is getting.
Speaker 7 (01:05:25):
There as well. You know, they're the top five team.
Speaker 25 (01:05:28):
So I want to hear your take on that because
also Joe spotted last year the switch and the astro
fell apart.
Speaker 13 (01:05:36):
So I just want to hear y'all take on that
and see what the Texas are going to do moving forward.
Speaker 5 (01:05:41):
Thank you, Caesar, Happy Thanksgiving real quick. There's a fine
line between players coach and players coach. I don't like
the players coach who's buddy buddy with him. I do
not like it because you take advantage of it. I've
been on teams where guys like don't feel they have
to be on time and don't feel there there there's
a much accountability because you, oh, the coach is when
he's your dog, right, Yeah, that's my guy. There's a difference,
(01:06:05):
and I think Demko Ryans sits on the good side
of players. Coach. I do, but it's a slippery slope
and you can get to the other side in a hurry.
He's young, he played, he's got that energy.
Speaker 22 (01:06:18):
Does that?
Speaker 5 (01:06:18):
Does there a coach in the league with more energy
than him on the side and he gets an animated
I love it. But he the guard against the players,
coach that everybody takes for granted and takes advantage of.
And then when he gets fired, I guess what they do.
Everybody bitches, well, why do he get fired because you
guys took him for granted, didn't win enough games. That's
why I got fired. You took advantage of the fact
that he was your coach. And when you walk in,
(01:06:39):
your buddy, buddy, and when he calls you, and you
need to have fear. When the coach calls you into
your office, you just do that respectful fear that goes
with damn, is he starting me? Is he benching me?
What's what's going on here? But when you leave, you
feel good when you go in, not not this you're
scared to death, but that fear of oh you don't
walk in. Ay, Hey, Miko, don't call me Miko, dude,
(01:07:00):
I'm your friggin head coach right to me. That's important
now if you want to call him to Miko, and
I still always I've told you this. I had a
hard time calling any coach by their first name, especially
the head coach. I think he'd earned it like a PhD. Right,
And there's that slippery slope of are you friends or
are you Is it respect or friendship? And you can
(01:07:20):
have both, but it's got to start with yr word,
not the effort respect first, friendship second. I think he
gets it because I can't imagine Demiko Ryans as a
player looking at a coach and calling in and taking
him for granted. So you got to guard again because
you want players to like you, but you're more importantly
you wanted to play hard for you and do anything
for you that they'll go above and beyond the call.
(01:07:41):
But you also want them to know that when they
walk in your office, you're not above being benched or cut,
and it's important that they know that. I don't want
him to play scared, but I do want him to
play with a little bit.
Speaker 7 (01:07:51):
Ryan.
Speaker 5 (01:07:51):
You tell me, don't you play your best. When there's
you're you're confident, but there's that little bit I don't
want to disappoint my coach instead of all he's a
guy I went oh for four and struck out four
times chasing four bad pitches. He right, yeah, So they
think there is there and I'm telling you when you're
where he is, because he's so relatable, you gotta be careful.
(01:08:15):
And when you let stars. I'm not saying he does.
But with the Tunsil thing, that question has been asked
across this country, whether it's going on a national show,
people are asking it every day. There's that slippery soap.
Are we treating the stars different than we would to backups?
Speaker 22 (01:08:30):
Now?
Speaker 5 (01:08:31):
The benching of Petrie last year sent a message and
look how he responded, using Laramie Tunzell as an example.
Laramie Tunzel is not one of the three best tackles
in the league. You want to know why because he
giveth and he taketh away. My quarterback can't go twenty
five to thirty and throw three picks and me say, yeah,
but he's accurate. The ball doesn't hit the ground yet.
But the problem is three of them a game are
(01:08:52):
going to the other team, same thing here. Oh hell
of a player on the ball staff. We've talked about it,
but if he's going to keep putting me in a bind,
there's got to be a message, and it's got to
be a hardcore, tough love, come to Jesus message, because
if you aren't critical, what did Belichick do to Brady
all the time he was in his grill?
Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
Dude?
Speaker 5 (01:09:09):
He played no favorites in the meeting room. And there
is a method to the madness because number one, Brady
could handle it, and number two it lets the backup
at wide receiver know he can do that to Brady.
It's important. Now everybody's gonna have a sacred cout. Jimmy
Johnson always said, I don't treat Treyman the same way
you'd treated me as a back You you just won't.
(01:09:30):
But the rules are the same, but you just it's different.
That's my guy. But do you know what you didn't
have to say to Troy Aigman, Practice hard, be on time,
have accountability, all that, because you know what was self
He's self appointed that Troy did that on his own.
Michael Irvin did it on his own. That's why the
team won. Aside from the fact they're talented as hell.
So for me, I spent a lot of time talking
(01:09:50):
to Darren Woods and who, by the way, belongs in
the Hall of Fame. The safety, it's crazy. The same
way the accountability, and you know what good teams do,
They take that away from the coach, meaning coach doesn't
have to make that decision. Why we're policing it ourselves.
And I know it would take balls for a player
to go up, but somebody, if they haven't, needs to
go up and quite frankly, away from the team and
(01:10:12):
grab him around the jersey and say I'm just using
him as an example because he's the most penalized player
in the league and say, great player, you're killing us. Yeah,
I love you, brother, but you got to pick this up.
And the guy that if Tunsel got mad, he'd say,
you got problem with it, you're you're you're my guy.
But I would make no mistake, yes, because it's basically
(01:10:32):
disrespecting fifty two other players. So that's where the Demico
ryans when when I hear somebody say player Mike Thomas
players coach, that's why he still got a job and
doing it. But there's a difference he had Antonio Brown
for a long time. You see, when Theyskedhi about Antonio
Brown what he did, he looked at the reporter and
walked off with the like, no, we're not interested in Basically,
without having to answer it, he sent a loud message,
Oh he was great for us on the field, but
(01:10:54):
that ship is sailed, and so you can't be afraid
to bench somebody because you're gonna lose him as you're
dog and Mike Tomlins as good as anybody in the
world at dude, a good player. I get rid of
Aveon Bell, I get rid of Ben Roethlisberger, not above
anybody else. It doesn't I can bench fields. I can
go get Russell Wilson when nobody else wants all those things.
(01:11:17):
But there's a there's that line that when you walk
into Mike Thomas office, I would imagine there's a little
bit of fear knowing what's my got in store for
me and if I was honest team coach, so to me,
it is a slippery slope that Demico Ryan's probably has
to guard against because he has got so much youth.
If you're Bobby Slock, you're not much older than a
couple of players on a team. Guess what I got
(01:11:42):
to be able to make sure they understand here's how
we're doing things. Yeah, and respect is far more important
than friendship to me as a coach. You don't If
you don't respect me, we got no chance to win.
And that goes with every team.
Speaker 4 (01:11:53):
Seven seven ninety Rob, thanks for holding Good morning, Hey,
good morning guys.
Speaker 27 (01:12:00):
IM backtrack a little bit, Sean, answer your question. I
don't think I'm paying more than two maybe two fifty
to go to a football game. I don't care where
that puts me in the stands. That's just where my
limits at is what it is, especially here in Texas.
I don't I don't need to be up in those
stands for in that heat, for that much longer than that.
(01:12:22):
I want to go back to the Kakushi deal though,
you know, I called in about it yesterday and we
chatted about it a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:12:29):
You know, the the other thing about.
Speaker 27 (01:12:32):
Him staying within the division, and I started thinking about
this is of all the teams for him to end
up going to, he went to LA, and it's I
started thinking, when was the last time LA made a
big money signing? And I'm you know, twenty million a year.
That's as big as signing as they've made in a.
Speaker 6 (01:12:48):
While that played out.
Speaker 27 (01:12:49):
The La Angels are like the Cleveland Browns when it
comes to big contracts. They can't ever make them work.
I cannot think of the last, you know, somewhat big
signing that they had that ended up playing out in
their favors. So while I want success for all these players,
and I'm happy to coooch you got his day day,
and I do not want to face him give him
what he did for us last year, I don't know if.
Speaker 5 (01:13:11):
We've got that much to be worried about on that side.
Speaker 27 (01:13:13):
Because as much as I hate to say, if Angels
are gonna ruin him, I'm afraid and he's gonna go
back to a five and a half, the Alady year
kind of guy.
Speaker 8 (01:13:21):
But I only I got one more.
Speaker 27 (01:13:23):
Thing than I listening to you guys, I was curious
that what Yill's thoughts are, if you've heard anything, and
if it's time for MLB to start considering a salary cap,
because now the Dodgers went and got Snell and with
what Shotani did, I'm wondering if there's going to start
being a trend because now the Dodgers can basically advertise,
we'll pay you twenty years down the road. Let us
(01:13:44):
pay you a little bit here, because they've got Snell,
they've got Otani, and Otani will be pitching this year,
and that's a horrifying one two punch. You got the
top of their lineup, and apparently they've still got a
bid in on Soto. So I just wanted to get
y'all's take and what y'all's thoughts were. And if there's
going to be a similar to the NFL, there's gonna
be a salary cap coming because the luxury tax threshold
(01:14:05):
does seem to be doing much to deter at least
the Dodgers or any of these other big money teams
from putting big money out there and completely dominating and
just advertising. Come with us and you're gonna get a
ring guaranteed. Thanks guys, I hang up and listen.
Speaker 5 (01:14:17):
Appreciate it, Rob for me and Brian. I don't know
how you feel about I think I do, but one
is I'm less concerned about Kokuchi facing us than I
am about us losing him. Now you got to face him.
You don't want to, But the truth is the sting
hurts more that we don't have that guy near the
top of the rotation. I don't think. Put it this way,
(01:14:40):
he's not going to be the difference from whether they
win the division or not, meaning the Angels they win
in the division. No, not good enough, but I'd love
to have you here. Secondly, Oh, I think it's long overdue.
I think a salary cap, I know, the luxury tax,
the rest of it. I think a salary cap is
an I don't want to say an absolute must, but
pretty close because every single year or I can name
(01:15:00):
five teams that are always going to be in position
to get the best players. They just are because they
can pay it and are willing to.
Speaker 7 (01:15:06):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (01:15:06):
I would like to see how good these capologists are
in baseball that can manage it when you've got a
ceiling on the money. You damn right. I love one,
and at some point in time you're going to have
to unless the owners are just sitting back saying, ah,
hell no, we'll pay a guy a billion dollars. When's
that coming? Well, when when is that coming? Well we're
halfway there, yeah, halfway, We're halfway there. Yeah. Oh we're
(01:15:30):
half way there. Oh, leave it on a prayer. Yeah,
well there with that cut, they just they didn't turn
their chairs around and uh at the voice voice. But
I am with Rob. You give me, I'll take this
out and you know what, the truth is out and
(01:15:50):
outside of about four or five teams, I'm sure most
baseball people would say, hell yeah, it equals the playing
field at least a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:15:56):
Yeah, the Dodgers are going to be eighty million dollar
over the luxury tax threshold.
Speaker 5 (01:16:01):
They don't give a fuzzy rats ass.
Speaker 4 (01:16:04):
And John Morosi actually tweeted out last night that the
Dodgers are not out on Wan Sodo.
Speaker 5 (01:16:09):
Think about that. It's ridiculous. Seven three just canceled the season. Honestly.
Oh hey, man, hey Mookie, could you go play He's
played short, he's played second. Hey Mookie, you want to manage? Yeah,
and be a player?
Speaker 8 (01:16:23):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:16:24):
Want to catch ye? Could you imagine you know what
would happen Soto moves to left field? Probably yeah, right, yeah,
to do because you're not getting that arm in right
field with the with bets bets is just oversely. You
can play him anywhere. Soto gets to go in left field,
doesn't have to play that previeu out right field and
then he'll probably hit three ninety with fifty home runs.
You think there's any protection in that lineup, there's plenty.
(01:16:44):
Good great ridiculous if that dude saw that and goes
there and he says, oh, man, they can pay me
what I want and he goes to LA. Dude, my
head is gonna I mean, grateful for my forward, my
Dodger buddies at LA. But are you kidding me? Come on, man,
you can't. That's insider trading. Merely to be.
Speaker 4 (01:17:00):
Fine, someone's got to get fined something that's nuts. Roll
along right here on the Seawan Salisbury Show. We got
a lot of people that want to get in on
this discussion. Start with John.
Speaker 5 (01:17:09):
What's up? John?
Speaker 22 (01:17:11):
What's that pattern?
Speaker 5 (01:17:13):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (01:17:16):
Come on, man, hey, I heard you talking about me yesterday.
Speaker 5 (01:17:19):
No you didn't, Yeah I did.
Speaker 1 (01:17:21):
Man.
Speaker 24 (01:17:21):
I was sitting right here in this dance staying with
my windows closed.
Speaker 5 (01:17:24):
Listen now, and I bet you bet, you bet you
didn't put anything down, did you.
Speaker 7 (01:17:29):
No?
Speaker 24 (01:17:29):
I got some hogs, and we got some deer sitting
around us right now.
Speaker 5 (01:17:33):
You got a hog. I got a hog, all right?
Speaker 26 (01:17:41):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (01:17:41):
Nothing wrong with shooting the hog. Yeah, damn hey.
Speaker 24 (01:17:46):
Man, Seriously, you know, let's go to a couple of things.
Speaker 7 (01:17:51):
I've been here and we.
Speaker 5 (01:17:52):
Don't have a lot of time for a couple of things.
Let's see it.
Speaker 7 (01:17:54):
Come on going to half to make it.
Speaker 5 (01:17:55):
You're going to make that, Hey, Jonathan will hang up
on you, John.
Speaker 24 (01:18:06):
Hey Sooniously, though, Larry Tunsil is not a top five
Hell no, I don't know what Caesar was talking about,
but I don't know where he's watching that.
Speaker 6 (01:18:17):
They need to rip the captain's patch.
Speaker 26 (01:18:19):
Off his ass.
Speaker 24 (01:18:21):
They need to benching. The problem with the players now
is some of it is the coaches want to be
their friends. You cannot be their friends and be their
head coaches. And baby bomb I almost said the other word.
And as far as it's uh Cuccie.
Speaker 11 (01:18:40):
Thing, people, y'all act like we got rid of got rid.
Speaker 22 (01:18:46):
Of Bob Gibson or Cindy Kofax or something.
Speaker 25 (01:18:49):
To let him.
Speaker 24 (01:18:49):
I mean, when he was in Toronto, when he was
in Seattle, to think Seawan said the best.
Speaker 7 (01:18:58):
The thing that sucks about it is that you lost the.
Speaker 24 (01:19:03):
Players of it. You lost the picks that you had
that were potential. It's not about him going to raggedy
ass the Angels. They ain't gonna do nothing, and it's
just it's not that big of a deal. The biggest
deal about it is just losing the players.
Speaker 7 (01:19:23):
That we didn't have.
Speaker 24 (01:19:24):
And so what if we didn't get to see him
pitch in the playoffs. You weren't beat We weren't gonna
beat Detroit. We were an average above average team. And
it's gonna get worse now that if there isn't a
cap put on sooner. D Deer renoff, Brian deer runoff.
Speaker 4 (01:19:44):
Well, it's probably it's probably you spouting off the bs
about Kokuchi. My man was five and one with the
as the two seventy r A John.
Speaker 24 (01:19:52):
I'm not saying without I understand that, Brian, I understand that,
but go and pull his record when he was at
Seattle at Toronto when he played.
Speaker 16 (01:20:02):
Houston faced him, when they faced him. Yes, I get
he was five and one. He did a hell of
a job here, But it was just like was with Barkley. Okay,
he was a free agent.
Speaker 24 (01:20:16):
Houston obviously did not want too much the offer or
offer him more.
Speaker 5 (01:20:22):
They probably weren't even closed, weren't even closed.
Speaker 22 (01:20:26):
And that's the problem with with Crane.
Speaker 24 (01:20:30):
With a lot of sports owners, I mean, they act
like they don't make any money in this business, or
I don't want to pay ten years, or I don't
want to pay three hundred million, two hundred million, blah
blah blah when they're making money, you know.
Speaker 7 (01:20:45):
And as far as the pricing.
Speaker 24 (01:20:49):
Man Lemon case, I heard from a partner of mine
that graduated from U team of course is it's just
here say, supposedly A and M is putting speakers on
the field for tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (01:21:00):
It's game to to bring in even more noise.
Speaker 5 (01:21:04):
Ye as much of that. Now that there's a couple
of reports out that they are doing.
Speaker 24 (01:21:09):
That, there is a yeah, yeah, And I ain't now
gonna get the ass who ain't even gonna take an
ass whooping.
Speaker 7 (01:21:15):
They gonna get whooped by Texas.
Speaker 24 (01:21:17):
And I have no dog getting the hunt.
Speaker 7 (01:21:19):
Texas just a much better team.
Speaker 24 (01:21:23):
And it ain't no way I'm paying those six hundred
do no damn nose bleeds in Haggie Field.
Speaker 5 (01:21:27):
Well, John, we got we gotta get to the top
of the hour man. Happy Thanksgiving, Hey, knock you down.
A couple of thanksgiving brother to you and uh to
you and your boyfriend.
Speaker 18 (01:21:38):

We see you all holding. Appreciate it. We'll get to
you guys next. And also, let's look at the Texas
and Texas A and M matchup because there's a lot
riding on it. Sean, with those college football playoff ranks
coming out last night, there's some people upset about the
format because the five seed looks a lot easier than
the one of the two seed. Right now, that's a
(01:22:24):
problem which is crazy to think about. And Notre Dame
is in a five hole right yes, as.
Speaker 5 (01:22:29):
Of right now. Let's discuss it next. Sports Talk seven to.

Speaker 13 (01:24:11):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:24:12):
Yeah, Man, I just trying to push on all a
little key sweat every now and then. O GQ. You
know what I'm saying. Listen, let me tell you what
he was. He was still in the womb when I
was making love to Keith Sweat.
Speaker 7 (01:24:23):
Okay, yeah, he's still at the field. I was working.
Speaker 5 (01:24:30):
It's hard. It's hard to Keith Sweat when you're when
you're apologizing ten seconds.
Speaker 8 (01:24:35):
Said Okay, hey man, I got to I got to
tell y'all from the OG chronicles. Man, this game will
always mean something special to me because my uncle Luther
was long gone. He took me to a game and
seventy three at CAI feel first time I've ever been
to a big college game like that. And I went
(01:24:58):
to see my cousin who was the start, and four
were back and later on I was signed out that
he was the first black All American for Texas. His
name was Roosevelt Leeks from Brenham, Texas.
Speaker 5 (01:25:10):
Monster running back for the longheard yeah, imre Colts too right,
Colts got right right.
Speaker 8 (01:25:18):
He would have been a first round pick, but he
got his knee at this particular game here, he got
his knee busted up, and uh, he had to send
out a year and he ended up getting drafted in
the fifth round. But he was definitely going to be
a first round pick had he not got his knee
shattered at the game. So I went into the locker
room after the game to see him. And I've had
(01:25:40):
a thing against A and M because sitting up there
looking at your cousin's knee swore up like a bowling
ball man, I said, matter. I hate the I hate
the hagging. And but the only good thing about it,
I got to meet a eighteen year old Earl Cabell
who was being recruited to come and replace him at
the full back position. See being under down raw they
(01:26:02):
ran the wishbone with the fullback in the four point stands,
and they were recruiting early to come play that same position.
Speaker 5 (01:26:09):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:26:10):
So it's just funny how things work out. So I
didn't I didn't know Earl was going up like he
was ended up being, you know, one of my favorites
of all time.
Speaker 5 (01:26:19):
But hey, man, Roosevelt.
Speaker 8 (01:26:21):
Actually has now a yearly children's golf tournament that he
has in East Austin every year. Man, I don't know
if y'all like to go up there for it, but he, uh,
it's a it's a real nice tournament that he has
a there every year for the charity for the children
up there and on East Austin.
Speaker 5 (01:26:38):
That's awesome. He was a monster. Now, let me ask
you this. I'm just gonna take a stab. Was he
didn't wear number thirty seven? What do you wear at Texas?
Speaker 7 (01:26:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:26:51):
Yeah, yeah, there you go. Yeah. He was almost a
full back number because he did both. But he was
a monster, man, big thick. I mean he could play
now Rose he leaks, man. I'll know he played with
I think he was there with Burt Jones in that group,
right Lie Mitchell did.
Speaker 8 (01:27:06):
I'm because I was twelve and it was like I
didn't you know, I didn't really know none of the
other players. I think Jerry Gray was on that team,
if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 5 (01:27:17):
He might have been after uh Lie Mitchell, who was
a Penn State running back but played in Baltimore as well.
In Burt Johnes. So yeah, I know the name. Well man,
watched him play growing up, no question.
Speaker 26 (01:27:28):
All right, man, I talked out next week.
Speaker 5 (01:27:32):
I always and enjoyed the game this weekends. Like you said,
it means a lot to him. Roosevelt leaks roude not much, man,
fans do I promise you that they know all about him?
Special start to biscuit. What's going on? Biscuit?
Speaker 6 (01:27:49):
Hey, man? Thing about you? Man here old school than me,
And yeah, I remember Roosevelt. He was like the baby okay,
but you know the girl came behind them, yep, and
took it to a whole another level. But let me
say this, Melima John I'm not changing nothing, man, I'm
(01:28:10):
sticking to the script. I'm letting the process play out.
You know, I'm talking about the Rockets. Man, I'm not
taking no trades. I'm not these boys. Let these boys
grow together. Man, this this team's gonna be a team
to regular with a couple of years. Man, if they
already had a schedule in my opinion that I said
an eight game improvem shine, it maybe about a ten
(01:28:30):
to fifteen games and pool number last year. So I'm
staying the script, man. And then now that my Hoosiers. Shine. Hey, man,
it's a good thing that Alabama and Tennessee lost because
they they'd have been out of there that I think.
I think the SEC, man, they'll be kicking themself. Man,
they made they they made their conference too tough. Shine.
(01:28:51):
I don't see how SEC team here on out can
go a season without having two or three losses, and
so that's put them in a predicament with up some
of the other teams. You know, if they had one loss, Yeah,
they didn't play a tougher sketule you, but that's you know,
that's on you. I don't you know, I don't know
how the SEC, because well, what happens if A and
(01:29:14):
M beat tax which isponsible and then mess around, gonna
be somebody. So now you got a couple of other
teams with three into I don't know, man, it's gonna
be interesting. It's just it's something to see that. The
last thing I would say, Sean, who's gonna be that guy?
Because we talked about to do being lazy? Who who's
(01:29:35):
a guy in the locker room that's gonna you know,
I'm looking at the Texan squad and I'm like, man, baby,
fifty five, Baby fifty one. We know the running back,
but he's not big enough, you know, cause Shane, would
you explain to us, have you ever been in the
locker room when the furniture got moved around? Because if
you're gonna left, you know what I mean, So somebody
(01:29:57):
gotta be able to, you know, move some furniture around.
Speaker 5 (01:29:59):
You know, yeah, you know what. Biscuit the first the
first name that comes to my mind if you are
going to move the furniture, and somebody that if it
got into if it got a little heated. The dude
that lines up in the backfield may very well be
as tough as it gets on that team. And he's
got skin in a game. He came from. He's reputable. Obviously,
(01:30:22):
he was a grinder at Cincinnati. He knows what it's
like to be in a super Bowl. He comes in
and he's added physicality, he's durable, He plays every friggin down.
You know, one of those guys and damn will tell
you he ain't scared You and I both know that.
So even though it's his first year here, he may
very well be the guy that has to grab a
(01:30:42):
jersey and say enough man, because I'll be honest with you,
you think there's very many people in that locker room
that want to challenge him. I don't think so. I
don't care how big you are. That that made that
very very well. You don't need they have been on
a team a long time to be that guy. You
just have to be that guy. And if there's any
if I named three guys on that team, uh, they've
(01:31:04):
got dog in him, big time dog. I'm talking about
great Dame Pitt Bulldog, uh mixing stands. He's he's in
the team picture at the very front. So he may
be that guy you're exactly, but who's gonna want to
do it and have the accountability and not one ounce
afraid of what the backlash would be. You're the great
point man. I'll take him from my bantage point.
Speaker 6 (01:31:27):
I mean, because you had a lot more shown with
Doman and them guys, Hey, I imagine they may it.
Speaker 5 (01:31:33):
Never made it. It didn't make it to the coach, biscuit,
it never made it to the coach. Why if it did,
it was an afterthought because it was already handled. Yeah,
I could roll I could roll through a list of
those guys. Uh we and even guys you don't know,
like a guy like Adrian Cooper, who's a tight end.
I watched Coop get in a locker room fight and
it wasn't real good for the the opposition and people
(01:31:57):
don't even know who he is, but he is old
school tough. So we had a group of guys that
that that you didn't have to get to the better
effect if it made it up to the coach. It
was that shocking, but it never rarely did because it
was police there. And maybe what has to happen here.
And I don't mean closed door team meetings I'm talking
about I'm talking about chest up. Let's get this thing
done right now.
Speaker 6 (01:32:18):
Yes, you've got a problem that's not gonna be.
Speaker 5 (01:32:22):
Bingo. That's exactly right. End it quickly. There you go,
biscuit happy you two brother, enjoy all that good vittles.
Speaker 26 (01:32:31):
There's gon be a two plater for me.
Speaker 5 (01:32:33):
Sean, get in line. Don't teat yourself out of a third,
my man. Let it rip there you go. Appreciate you,
there you go. I appreciate it.
Speaker 26 (01:32:43):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:32:43):
You got two hands, use them, that's right, good man.
Better than two hands in one bush. You know, two
hands and no in the bush. You know the saying
to try to try to let people want the hand
to in the bush?
Speaker 4 (01:32:54):
Right, Yeah, you want to know the saying, let me
peel the curtain back for you here real quick, Salz,
I know all you're saying.
Speaker 5 (01:33:01):
This is I know every metaphor. I purposely screw them
up on purpose. Yeah, purposely do it on purpose too sometimes.
But two in the two in the hand and one
of the bush, that's even better. Who doesn't want to
I got two remotes in my hand right now, it's
better than one one in the bush. Now the remote
maybe not because nobody wants more than one, right right,
(01:33:23):
So you have two in the hand means you've already
a stat You've got two that this is right here,
This is your victuals. You got to right them? Why
I go chase after the other one? But the real
thing is, I got one in the hand. Why am
I going to chase two that I may not get to?
Well for me, I don't know, be the one you got, right?
But if you have even just one in the hand,
you don't want the bush so well, very few people do.
Right you get the landscape over there? If that's the case, Okay,
(01:33:50):
all right, you got a landscape and if there's if,
if there's two in there, I'm talking about the same.
I am to That's what I'm saying, right, you don't
need to go in there. If you got one in
your hand, appreciate what you got. I yeah, but I'm
talking about like the saying, that's exactly what the saying means.
You got one in the white chase after two? You
(01:34:11):
count those blood manscaping? No, I didn't say did the
word manscaping? As I know I'm asking you're talking about? Man,
I said, if you go in for two and you
got a landscape, it anyway land escape? Okay, Okay. At
my house we have bushes and all that stuff. We
keep it landscape. I know you're a big green guy.
Well let's not go go green by your government standards.
(01:34:32):
I like to have green. Thumb less government or far
less government always works, Mike, no mistake, man. We only
have a couple of months left with Joey b. What
are you talking about, dude? He checked out as the
president months ago. What are you talking about the president?
Speaker 7 (01:34:48):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:34:49):
He's a president and name only. You think he's moving
and shaking, Well, is he moving and shaking?
Speaker 4 (01:34:54):
Coamal And Tim Wallas made some statements yesterday so great,
I thought video I mean that respectfully.
Speaker 5 (01:35:03):
Well, no you don't, because you were thinking grab another
single ball one of those Thanksgiving he's a president. Put
respect on the president. There going to be man a
couple more months. I don't think that. I think I
think he's looking forward to January two. I really do.
Speaker 4 (01:35:16):
I think he's ready to get out. And I don't
blame him. Seven one, three, two and two five Seveney.
John will get to you next. Also, we got to
talk about Texas versus Texas A and in those ticket price,
ticket prices are nuts. Next, here's Johnny. They advanced to
the quarterfinals in the Emirates NBA Cup. With the win,
Blake Snell headed to the Dodgers on a five year deal.
(01:35:37):
Thanksgiving games tomorrow Bears, Lions, Giants, Cowboys Miami at Green Bay.
To get out to the phone lines to talk to John. John,
we appreciate you holding Good morning.
Speaker 26 (01:35:47):
Hey, Good morning, Sean and Brian. Hey, look man, yesterday
when I called in about to ask those and Shawn,
you you mentioned Pappa guy about him. You know he
had that MVP year. You would think that when he
come off at MVP year. He would be better on offense.
He's been a terrible disappointment too. You can't have a
third baseman and a short stop that just not hitting
(01:36:11):
good enough. You got to have more. And all of
a sudden, they just they just look at Pina like
he's some kind.
Speaker 7 (01:36:17):
Of star player. I'm sorry, my personal.
Speaker 5 (01:36:20):
Ah, you're in the great apology, brother, We got you.
You're good.
Speaker 24 (01:36:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 28 (01:36:25):
Man, he's a great shot. He's a great defensive player
like Adams Preckman. I need more offense from Penia. I
need more offense from these players. One more thing I
wanted to ask you shown and Brian, you know people
call him for Bobby slow as.
Speaker 26 (01:36:41):
Job and all that. Then let me ask you something
here now as far as technique with this offensive line
line line line players and teaching them how to block
the this and that? Isn't that more on the offensive
line coaches? Man, I don't see Bobby Sloyd at practice
little like he is trying to teach these big linemans
(01:37:03):
how to block and protection and all that stuff. I
feel like the offensive line coaches this is more their
responsibility and look like they're the ones that should be
receiving most depression. Now, ain't I wrong about that?
Speaker 7 (01:37:15):
Sell?
Speaker 26 (01:37:15):
And Brian, I mean, you play NFL football. I'll hang
up in the list and have a good Thanksgiving you bet.
Speaker 5 (01:37:21):
Is he talking about the accountability on the players? Oh yeah,
there's no doubt. Listen, now, are you pushing accountability to
those guys? Right? And I can't fathom that. I know,
I said, can't fathom some of these things. It's hard
for me to on teams I've been on that the
offensive line coach isn't being coached. Of course he is.
(01:37:43):
Now those guys are stubborn and the rest of it.
But I don't think he's trying to teach bad technique.
But there does come a point when are you guys responding?
Is the message getting across? Is my concern from coach
to player, And if the message is getting across and
being taught right, then the next level all of that,
and uh with what he's with our callers saying is
(01:38:04):
if the message is being taught right, then let me
ask you this, then why isn't it being applied? So
if it's being taught right but not applied, then who's
that on player? Correct? Okay, if it's not being taught right,
and you're setting a saying on the practice field, you're
going through a week and you're saying, why is he
taking that first step? He's got an edge rusher is
in a nine technique on the outside, and he's stepping
(01:38:25):
down towards the guard with no thread on the inside
and getting beat on a speed rush. What are we
doing here? Are you teaching that coach? No, I'm not teaching.
He knows what he Then then then where's the lost
in translation thing? I would imagine. I'm just putting myself,
you and I as coaches on this team, and all
of a sudden you see that it's being taught wrong.
Aren't you having to come to Jesus with that guy?
(01:38:47):
You would think? Okay, So if you and I think
that every week when they're sitting in the room, I
gotta believe when Demiko stands up and addresses his staff,
not the player's his staff. Do you want to know
you don't Mike Shanahan used to do you know you
want Shanahan used to do what he had cameras in
all the meeting rooms. Did he really all day every day?
Speaker 7 (01:39:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:39:07):
To the point where I know a coach that got
into a battle with him. Now, Mike, Mike was a
control freak, and a really good one because they won
a lot. Good players and smart as hell, but Mike,
you know, Mike want Mike was going to decide what
the coffee was being served in the building, right. But
there's coaches who were bothered by that about the thing.
(01:39:28):
But he had cameras in the meeting rooms to make
sure his coaches were teaching it right. And you know,
when I first thought about that, I said, that's awful invasive.
But what if it's a guy that you just had
somebody recommend you and you hired him and he never
worked with him, and you really don't know the depth. Hey,
when we're asked to give a presentation, aren't you at
your best? Yes, So somebody calls you in for an interview.
(01:39:50):
You're going to tell him everything that you think they
want to hear and everything you need to say yes,
And that's let's say it's the first time you met
him and they say I want to hire him. Yeah,
and in football, but you don't really know. You'll get
a few people say, yeah, good teacher, the guy's great.
But I do get while it feels invasive, why a
coach would want the meeting room recorded and well, nowadays
(01:40:13):
it seems like for protective purposes, right, yeah, but would
want the meeting room accorded to understand is he teaching
it the way that he says he's teaching it.
Speaker 22 (01:40:20):
I do get it.
Speaker 5 (01:40:21):
At first when I heard it, said did they tape
in my meeting?
Speaker 7 (01:40:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:40:25):
Because I still have a problem with it. I have
a problem with it because why did you hire me? Well,
that's well, they hired what they hire. Of course it
is Mike Shanahan was, and Mike's been known and now
he won, and so it's okay, But of course it is.
But the point is why you hired him because he
made a great presentation, so you got to trust it.
That's who tell It's like my kids. When I had
(01:40:45):
my kid, Do you realize I never looked at my
kid's phone or looked in their top drawer. They never
gave me a reason to, Oh, you know, I'm looking
at your top drawer. You're doing you're smoking joint because
you're late for Clyden. They never gave me a reason to,
so I never did, never had to. I'm not saying
they were perfect kids, but you know what I'm not
just gonna They built trust, and so until they broke
the trust, what's the deal. It's the same thing here. Okay,
(01:41:05):
I hired You're exactly right, but you do get why
he would do that, right, Tape meeting rooms like damn,
I want to know what's going on, fair enough, but
it is invasive. And then if you're a player, you're like,
this coach doesn't trust me, why the hell do you hire?
So it creates a little friction anyway, But getting back
to the lost in translation, So where is it lost?
So the players being taught what they're supposed to and
(01:41:25):
then not execute. If that's the point, guess what you
got to do. You got to change the player. If
the coach is telling you one thing and doing another,
and he's not teaching technique right after one after or
the speech isn't getting through, then you may have to
look there. The problem is what if it's both? And
then truth is I think that's probably I think part
of it is. And sometimes as a coach, you know
(01:41:46):
what you're held to a different standard. If you're teaching
math and you've got twenty five kids in your class
and twenty two of them are getting it, in three art,
Are you supposed to move on without the other three
or wait till those other three come along with you.
I got to change my teaching to bring the other three.
I got to bring them all along because in football,
if three of them get it on the offensive line
(01:42:07):
and two don't, you don't make the judgment by the
three who get it. No, you judge judge by the
two who won't, because the two who won't will bring
your franchise down and bring your team down. So you know,
there's the part of me thinks, man, I'd love to
go coach full time because you learn what to do
and what not to do in all your years ago. Man,
I should have done it different or playing and take
great stuff and say can you apply it and make
(01:42:27):
a difference in him? And can you take a five
and make it an eight? Can you take an eight
make it a ten? Can you take a great player
and keep him there? Yeah, that's the development aspect. That's
exactly right. So I don't know, because listen, we can
all speculate from here. I can tell you this from
the undisciplined part of it. There's it seems to be
a lot lost in translation this year on this football team. Yah,
who's ever fault? It is something's not clicking in certain
(01:42:49):
situations and that's got to be changed or you will see.
Put it this way, if this keeps up all over,
there will be changes made somewhere on that staff and
players as well. But I'm going to I'm a player
accountability first, because I should by now know how to
do it right. Sometimes you're just gonna get your ass
will But if I'm mentally the self inflicted mental problem,
(01:43:11):
you know, the mental airs that you create, the constantly
keep happening, that you don't learn from the mistake and
keep doing it, then it's a Then it's a hymn
problem and we got to fix that or replace it.
Whether it's Tunsil or Harry Hatchett ass. Yes, So then
my question is why hasn't it? Are we sure? Are
we sure?
Speaker 9 (01:43:27):
Now?
Speaker 5 (01:43:27):
Listen, I'm also a guy that I'm not aaron if
you're married, I do on air that we know we
don't right, because if I'm a coach, like the second
you start talking, I've told you what Denny Green said
when somebody would go to the meeting and say, hey,
keep my name off it. But here's what happened, and
then he'd read it in the paper. He called us
in and a full team and said, the next time
I see you better when if I find out who
(01:43:48):
it is, you're you're done. Put your name on it,
if you've got the balls to do it, player or coach.
He he wanted accountability, so you got it because people
are afraid to disappoint Denny. Same thing here. I don't know.
Maybe he has dressed the slow down, Maybe he has
looked at the defensive back coach, maybe he has looked
at the old line coach. He said, if it doesn't
get better, dude, there's an ultimatum here. And those are
(01:44:10):
the worst things to give players and coaches, right, because
then you're operating out of fear as opposed to respect.
And I think you can have the respectful fear, which
is which is a common ground of both. It's hard
to come by. That's they have it in Kansas City,
they got it in Pittsburgh. There are some places they
have good players, but you don't. I'm not sure they
have it yet. Do they have it in Miami yet?
(01:44:30):
I don't know. I think they have it in San Francisco,
but their performance on this year and on Sundays in
Super Bowl looks a little different.
Speaker 8 (01:44:37):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:44:38):
So the point is, I don't know if they have
it here, but I would imagine the Demico Ryans because great,
do you think Demiko Ryans calls a guy a coach
that he's been played for? So maybe Kyle and says,
how would you handle this?
Speaker 7 (01:44:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:44:49):
I'm sure he does. Who doesn't. If you're not, then
you should lean on those guys you learned from how
to handle a situation like this, because this is this year,
probably the first year he's faced something, because expectations were
high as a head coach, and they are not delivering
as a team the way that they expected. Forget what
we expect, what they expect. It's got to be fixed. Fellas.
(01:45:11):
How you feeling?

Bob Thornton is in He always has a dying piece
with him, his ex wife and land man.
Speaker 5 (01:47:32):
Oh yeah, Ali Larder. Yeah, you thought you've always had
you call you dying piece is what you called her.
And if I'm walking through an airport and I see
a couple like that, I'm like, what in the hell?
Because Billy Bob Thornton, I guess Bill Bob dude, I
call him Bill Bob most might be as good an
(01:47:55):
actor that we don't talk enough about as there is
on the planet. This role is like perfect for Bill Bob.
What's the guys, what's the money's name? Like his real name?
Monny's the oil company owner? Yeah, that's John John Ham.
He's great man John Ham. Yeah, he's great Hambonees. What
this do you call her? Demi or Demimi? I think
(01:48:19):
it's to me it's Demi. I'm just I'm just talking
about the word on the street. He used to hang
out with me back in the day. No, you gotta
me hanging around with everybody? No, I actually didn't. Actually,
And so you you like Handbone he's good, Yeah, you
like him, he's really good. Bill. But yeah, so you're
asking me if I've seen Bill Bob Thornton in this movie.
No you think it's the show, Well he was Kathy
(01:48:41):
Bates a dying piece. Who oh that was his what
was it?
Speaker 7 (01:48:44):
What was that?
Speaker 5 (01:48:45):
In uh? In Bad Sannah Kathy Bates Bates? What was
her relation? That's his mom? Mom? Yeah? How is she?
But when you look at both of them, how is
she his mom? And that because yeah, he's a classic.
You have a Bill Bob phenomenal show man. Taylor Sheridan
(01:49:05):
like feels like everything he touches turns to gold. Everything
in printing money Man, Yeah, I mean he's a dime piece. Yeah, yeah,
I love that saying, oh man, he's got a dime piece.
Speaker 7 (01:49:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:49:22):
I guess you can pull Bill Bob he does man
seven one, three, two, five, seven, Brandon, Good morning.
Speaker 7 (01:49:30):
Good morning.
Speaker 5 (01:49:32):
What's up are you guys? We're good? Hey, lockets one.
I'm happy for it. Yeah, they sure did, Brandon. They
played well last night.
Speaker 7 (01:49:45):
We we beat the Wolves, I think yep, it was
the two Wolves. Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:49:54):
What are you guys doing for the holidays, Brian. We're
gonna eat a lot of good food. Yeah. I'm watching football, cooking,
watching football, playing golf, all those things, all the above
seeing my kids. Yeah, that's I'm doing that all weekend
long TV shows. Brian, do you have a same with
(01:50:14):
Kevin James Kings of Quans. I've never seen that. It's funny.
I've heard it's funny. Kevin James is a good one.
Speaker 8 (01:50:25):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:50:25):
Did you know he works for the IPS?
Speaker 7 (01:50:29):
The who he works for?
Speaker 26 (01:50:31):
I p S?
Speaker 5 (01:50:32):
What's I p S? It's the company of the store. No,
I did not know that. I didn't either were talking
about Kevin James. Yeah, yeah, I just thought he was
an actor. I had no idea. That's exactly right. I like,
I like getting new knowledge.
Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
He works for the I p S.
Speaker 20 (01:50:55):
With was that guys?
Speaker 15 (01:50:58):
That manager's name.
Speaker 5 (01:51:01):
I don't even know what I p S is? International
Parcel Service? Oh he does? Oh you're talking about on
the show show?
Speaker 7 (01:51:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:51:09):
I thought, Yeah, that's exactly right. And I believe isn't
his Uh isn't the Ben uh Stillers pops on that show? Yeah?
Ben Stiller's dad?
Speaker 7 (01:51:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:51:21):
Yeah, that Ben Stillers spy.
Speaker 6 (01:51:24):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:51:24):
Yeah, there you go. Now I get I thought in
real life, is it he's double dipping? Isn't it is? Yeah?
Like dang, yeah, But on the show, Yeah, it's like regular.
He'll wear those shorts out there delivering. There you go, Well, Brandon,
we hope you have a phenomenal Thanksgiving man, Happy Thanksgiving,
and we won't be back till Monday, so you enjoy it. Okay,
yeah we will, all right, we appreciate it. Happy Thanksgiving. Perfect,
(01:51:47):
so we appreciated. Already done at the crib, already done. Yeah,
it might be going up on Black Friday. Kel put
it up. He doubt it. He's big enough. He probably
did it wrong. There is no doubt. And Patron's looking
around like you too, clown. I run this house still exactly. Oh,
(01:52:09):
let's talk to Randy real quick. Randy, what's happening?
Speaker 29 (01:52:12):
Hey, guys, you know offensive line aside slow it's on
the sidelines these days. Have you guys talked about why
he's on the press box like he was last year.
Maybe he's not seeing things like he normally does.
Speaker 5 (01:52:25):
He was on the sideline last year as well. Yeah,
Sloan was on the sideline last year. Yeah, I don't
remember him being in the press box. I think he was.
I think he's down here some days and people, some
coaches may require it, but there's a lot who like
to get a feel of the game and the you're
almost removed. Now there's a lot of coordinators want to
be up there left alone. They want to see it
(01:52:46):
from up there. But the ones that are on the
field will have somebody up there. Now here's the question.
I have Gerrod Johnson's on the sidelines as well, if
I'm not mistaken, don't always him on the bench talking
and with your offensive coordinator. So then the question is
who is Bobby get is Okay, what's it looked like
up there? Notes whether it's the wide receiver, coach, you know,
the whoever it might be. That's just a preference thing.
(01:53:08):
I'm one of those guys too that i'd prefer to
be if I was calling plays, and I like in
the US Army All American Game, I was coordinated the
last two years. I like to be and I wanted
to be on the side even though all of us
were on the sidelines. I like the interaction with the players.
I like to get a feel for how they're feeling. Right,
So I don't think that it matters either way. As
long as you're you trust the eyes up there that
(01:53:30):
are feeding you information. That's important, got it.
Speaker 29 (01:53:34):
I'm just trying to see that there's gotta be some
type of change. Maybe they can see something different. I
don't know.
Speaker 20 (01:53:41):
I get it, I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
It's yep, I'll get you. Brother Thanksgiving Randy. Yeah, he's
he's uh Bobby Bobby Andreward. Both have been on the
sideline last year and again this ye. Yeah, I don't
ever remember him being up in a booth. No, I
just and I just wondering who he. You know, there's
always one guy you conferred. Now, everybody's all available on
(01:54:02):
the headset, but the one guy who says, hey, man
across midfield that the safety is lazy. You know that
it's your eye on the sky is what it is,
and it's not a camera. Well you have those two
on the surface, but you want that guy that you trusted,
communicates with.
Speaker 5 (01:54:15):
You and not afraid of challenge and say, man, I
don't know, man, it's third and one. What do you
think here? We got an eye on the sky. Ah,
that's wheeling. This guy you wheeling. The sky keeps on
turned and now I don't know what. Uh. No, we
do have an eye in the sky. Yeah, right down
the hall. His name's Sky Mike. Yeah like that. Yeah,
(01:54:38):
I love Sky. Yeah, he's working today, isn't he. Yeah,
you're on the traffic reports. Yeah he's. Well, he's in
the sky right now somewhere. I haven't seen this. So
you can't give a traffic report. If you're not working,
you can't take a traffic report. You can't because you're
just changes exactly. Traffic does change, just like the weather.
(01:55:00):
You wouldn't know anything about that though. Well, some of
us are. Some of you are going to go take
a nap. Some of us will go get our bird,
get all the things done and attack a flagsticks. Ain't
cooking this week? You kidding me? You are you attacking
a flagstick? No, huh, I'll be attacking the sheets. Get you.
I haven't worked out it all this week because've been sick.
Oh well, sometimes the body needs bodies telling you. Yeah,
(01:55:22):
my body's a temple. Shawan, back off, your body's a temple.
Would you defeat it?
Speaker 26 (01:55:29):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:55:29):
Hey, man, that protein right now. I didn't say it.
I just said that that protein drink you just feed
that happens. That's a cool, man. I've been living off
smooth the the last three days. Dogot, we were here right, No, man,
(01:55:52):
you can't toss me like that. I love that you're serious, Ago,
because your your body's a temple. We need to treat
our body like you said. You've been the way man. Yeah,
I feed my body. It's like a temple.
Speaker 8 (01:56:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:56:06):
That extra bread with a hash brown and an extra
sausage patty and the English English muffins. You can't my god.
Oh and by the way, he double hash brown. Now
(01:56:28):
that's a temple, dude, exactly right, dude. Oh well, dude,
I'm all believe it. It was like I was super breakfast.
I can't see here. That's cold blood but so true.
Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh. Not everybody could have
dyed black hair though. Actually, know what it started to
(01:56:48):
coming in now it looks look like now it looks
like my modeling career, isn't it. Yeah, it's really starting
to shap The bat really starting to shape up, isn't it.
Speaker 7 (01:56:58):

Speaker 7 (01:57:59):
Its awesome. But if if you like.
Speaker 12 (01:58:01):
Taylor Sheridan stuff, you guys checked out Lioness, it's just
off the I.
Speaker 5 (01:58:06):
Have, Isn't that with?
Speaker 1 (01:58:07):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:58:08):
I mean, I know it's what's what's the gal's name
that was in uh al Donna? Yeah? Yeah, is that Dono?
I think? Is that right? Yes? Is it al Dona
is al Donna is al Donna? I think?
Speaker 8 (01:58:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:58:19):
She was in Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise and yeah,
yes under Kelly. It's so good, great cast and underrated,
very good.
Speaker 12 (01:58:30):
Yeah yeah, I mean it's a special ops type thing.
Speaker 7 (01:58:32):
I'm I'm retired military, so it's just right up my alley.
Speaker 12 (01:58:34):
But you know, Taylor Sheridan does his normal cameo appearance
in it, but he created it too, and it's just
really good.
Speaker 5 (01:58:41):
If you have a chance to check it out always,
I love you. Got to check it out, Brian, It's
good and real quick. I love Zoey's al Donna. Do
you watch what's your favorite Sheridan movie?
Speaker 19 (01:58:51):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (01:58:52):
You know, I I got into Yellowstone.
Speaker 12 (01:58:55):
I think it just kind of got tired after you know,
two years of nothing and with the whole you know, uh,
cautioner drama.
Speaker 5 (01:59:02):
And write this contracts and stuff. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:59:04):
Yeah, this this season is kind of it's the last season.
Speaker 12 (01:59:07):
They're wrapping it up. But I do like land Man,
Billy Bob Thornton. Like you guys said, he just never
it's he's always on point.
Speaker 7 (01:59:13):
It's just he's good, good anything.
Speaker 5 (01:59:16):
Have you ever seen the movie Hell or High Water?
Speaker 9 (01:59:19):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:59:19):
I have not. Man, you got this weekend. It's a
sharedan movie. It's it's Bridges, Jeff Bridges. You have to
go if you if you love Shared like that.
Speaker 7 (01:59:30):
It's not a series.
Speaker 5 (01:59:30):
It's a movie. Oh no, this a movie. You gotta go.
Speaker 25 (01:59:34):
But you go.
Speaker 5 (01:59:35):
It's called Hell or high Water. And you call in
on Monday or to whenever you're available next week, and
you watch it over the weekend. Just go on to
your you know your your and get it. You're gonna
it is off the hook. Yeah, you're gonna friggin love
on it. Ye, no problem, Thanks, Bud, I appreciate it. Thanks.
Mike's talk, Derek Love. When we hear from our military,
it's great, isn't it. Got a lot of them to
(01:59:56):
listen to us. Derek, what's happening?
Speaker 7 (01:59:59):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (02:00:00):
Uh?
Speaker 10 (02:00:00):
First of all, Sean Berry the lead with his fourteen
sixty three. Uh, you've got we got two of visiting teams.
You got uh, you got a task and set it
take it on.
Speaker 9 (02:00:09):
Folscher and then you have Norse or taken on KD
this this week, A couple of fantastic there.
Speaker 5 (02:00:15):
You go, there's some there's this represented well over there
in that part of the town. You are exactly right,
full yeah, fullsher plays a task a seed Is that right, yes, sir,
yeah yeah.
Speaker 9 (02:00:27):
And then one D writer underneath that, we got Second
Baptist taking on the Fort Bend.
Speaker 5 (02:00:32):
Well you know what, and you know what real quick,
my man, I got uh and it'll be awesome. I'm
proud because two of my guys will be playing against
each other. Canon Tune who's he's a quarterback at Second Baptist,
and good time to wish them luck. Canon Tune is
off the off the hook and playing well. And Cole's
(02:00:54):
the quarterback at Second Baptist. He's my guy as well,
I mean not a Second Baptist at the Fort bench
Christian with TeV Black. So I've got my two quarterbacks.
Two of them are starting against each other in this playoff.
So to Cole and Cannon, let it rip and I
love you both. And they both put in the time
and this is not surprising to me that both have
put their teams with the help of their team in
(02:01:15):
this position, both well coached and both really good quarterbacks
and great workers. I'm honored to train them both, and
I'm i couldn't be more proud of them for the
way they've gotten there. So that that that game, all
of it has my interest. I'm really pumped for my
guys this week. I really am.
Speaker 9 (02:01:30):
Yeah, for sure, I just want to switch gears real
real quick to the Texans. I just wanted to kind
of put in some broader contexts with the rest of
the league. I've kind of noticed that the Shanahan type
offenses just in general, maybe with you.
Speaker 10 (02:01:44):
Know, maybe not counting Miami as much, but with with
the Chiefs, and with and obviously the forty nine ers
and and and the tax ends as well, it seems
like they've all kind of struggled. So I don't know
if it's if it's defenses that have just been able
to get more, you know, more pressure on the teams,
or because the Texans have even been running the ball well,
which is usually like a staple of that play action
(02:02:06):
being devastating. But I'm just not seeing uh, you know,
maybe Nico a little bit, but I'm just not seeing
you know, the wide open Dulton's Schultz, you know that
I was used to seeing last year. In fact, I
don't even know, uh you know, I think kind of
Dalton's kind of underperformed this year. But I just I
didn't know if it was a if it was scheme related,
because obviously, you know, the Texans haven't performed well in
the second half, and I didn't know if it was
(02:02:27):
just defensive adjustments that have that have kind of caused
the Texans to bawls, or if it's just the system,
because if you go back a few years to the
Shop era, it was kind of the same thing where
it seemed like they'd be inconsistent play between halves.
Speaker 7 (02:02:40):
And it wasn't under Kubiak.
Speaker 10 (02:02:42):
It just seemed like it was the same type of thing.
Speaker 6 (02:02:44):
I don't know if that's making.
Speaker 5 (02:02:45):
Sense or not, makes perfect sense because remember what, Shaane,
what what offense? Did Kubiak run this zone scheme? You're
seeing now, right, different players, different resolutely said, different rapper,
but same same system. And it's a hell of a
point that we maybe were not diving into because all
you just mentioned teams that are doing the same thing.
I don't just think it's adjustments by defense. I also
(02:03:07):
think it's maybe lack of execution and adjustments by the
team here and in San Francisco, injuries getting the way,
but he still got to find a way. That's a
hell of a point by you. And we appreciate the call, Derek,
and happy Thanksgiving. And he's right. Maybe the windows are
not as wide open or the spacing that we saw.
(02:03:28):
But I can tell you this, and I've talked about
it for weeks and I'll say it again. And you
had mentioned something you sent me a message yesterday, is
what happens with the cumulative effect of windows opening and closing.
Is window open, quarterback getting hit and losing. True, I'm
not saying he's going to admit it, but from our
vantage point, doesn't it look like there's a trust issue
between offensive line and him. Your head goes to the
(02:03:51):
pass rush and what happens The head comes back up
to the coverage and you're late. So those windows look
a little more rest and compressed windows in the NFL.
That means going from a coffee can signs window to
a pea shooter size window. And it's tough to try
and fit him in. And you're if you're a confident guy,
what's your head telling you all? I can still fit
(02:04:12):
it in. The key Also is he's missing throws. It's
not just on him. He's part of it. We can't
leave him out of this. Is that there's throws that
he normally makes to two open windows that he's missed. Yeah,
by either a football length a yard and been late.
The touchdown that he had that he underthrew for the
interception of the end zone on the one that was white.
(02:04:32):
He was late under throw interception. That's what happens in
the NFL. So Derek makes some really good points. And
again all those high school guys that are playing on
but the cannon, proud of you to coll Proud of
you two guys heading. I mean, this is what the
quarters I think, and then they go or is it
the semi? I think they're still at the quarter with
the quarters right, Yeah, yeah, awesome for them. I'm so
(02:04:52):
proud of those guys. And I can tell you this.
They put into work. Yeah, they put into work this year.
And that's two of my guys and they get to
go head to head, which is suck for me, but
it's proud for me. I sit back and say, let
it rip and go do your thing.
Speaker 7 (02:05:04):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (02:05:04):
Let's get into the nine o'clock hour. Dive into more
of the Texans offensive struggles. Next on Sports Talk seven to.
Speaker 20 (02:05:10):
Eighty kd E Houston kt d E, HD two Houston,
Nyheart Radio station.
Speaker 5 (02:05:15):
Yes as a Rocket. This is Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (02:05:22):
Your home for your home team, Salisbury, Oldbury, Salisbury, Houston.
Speaker 7 (02:05:34):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 5 (02:05:36):
Sewan Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (02:05:39):
To usc true longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (02:05:41):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (02:05:49):
Rockets beat the t Wolves.
Speaker 4 (02:05:51):
They win West Group A to advance the quarterfinals in
the Emirates NBA Cup. Blake Snow headed to the Dodgers
on a five year deal worth one hundred and eighty
two mil. Got some Thanksgiving games tomorrow on the NFL
Bears at Lions, Giants, Cowboys, Miami at Green Bay. Texans
played this Sunday, will be off tomorrow for Thanksgiving and
on Black Friday, so we won't be back on air
till Monday. So obviously we've got a breakdown the Texans
(02:06:14):
versus the Jaguars. John, I got a couple of statistics
here for you when I was doing my prep last
night the offensive line for the Texans. They are third
and pressure rate, meaning they are they are at the
top top three of allowing pressure. Joe Mixon is thirty
seventh out of forty five running backs in expected yards
(02:06:37):
per carry, bottom bottom tier because of that offensive line,
which is pathetic.
Speaker 5 (02:06:44):
It is that dude. What I tell you, I always
saw Byobi right, he brings his own blocker all the time,
which is him. See you wonder when you look at it,
remember last year, like why can't they move the pile right?
And this year you know why they're moving the pile
that big fella's moving. Yeah, honesty, guy, there's no reason
for a guy that good to be that low statistically
(02:07:07):
considering his production as well. Come on, man, so I
want over the weakness on this team right now. You
make no you can slice it any way you want.
Aside from being undisciplined times, the weakness on this team. Yeah,
the front needs to be your biggest strength and it isn't.
I went over to next Gen.
Speaker 4 (02:07:25):
Statson was doing some research on the defense and the
offense for the Texans. The Texans defense, obviously they've played
well this year. They have more QB pressures than anyone
in twelve weeks and one hundred and ninety seven.
Speaker 5 (02:07:41):
On the flip side of that, CJ. Stroud has been
the most pressured QB this season one hundred and ninety
one times. Okay, so you tell me human nature kicks
in on no matter how good you are, to take
you off your progressions quicker than you need to. I'm
not saying it's an excuse for CJ Stroud, but do
you understand the community?
Speaker 12 (02:08:00):
Know you do?
Speaker 5 (02:08:00):
Yeah, I'm just kind of generally saying it the cumulative
effect of why things change with a quarterback. When that happens,
you can't help but lose trust. I feel like the
trust is broken minimal is very minimal, from coach to player,
player to line line, and I feel like everything feels
rushed for CJ. Stroud.
Speaker 26 (02:08:23):
So what is that?
Speaker 4 (02:08:23):
From what I've learned from you, is that's going to
go into your mechanics. Your feet start to get what's
the word shift, happy feet? Happy feet did too quick
to beg happy feet?
Speaker 5 (02:08:36):
Right? Trying to rush throws, that's where you become off target.
How many times did Levis bail into trouble? I'm still
trying to learn in sacks while you're finishing that. Let
me just make the best comparison I can in our
layman's terms talking to each other. Yeah, what's the one
thing everybody complained about with the pitchclock?
Speaker 7 (02:08:57):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (02:08:57):
Too quick, fast, too quick, start to mess with their head. Ye,
just a couple of seconds right right middle instead of
middle away accuracy. Oh so somebody seeing your thought process
up put you in a mind correct. It's a perfect
way to put it. And and cy young winners are
bothered by it. So and guess what. Guess what doesn't happen?
(02:09:22):
The guy that's at the plate doesn't get to run
out to the mound and hits you in the head
with the bat. The guy standing in the pocket gets
the living dog kicked out of him. So you tell
me what's the difference other than a bigger body hitting you? Yeah,
I mean it translates. It is the perfect, perfect way
to describe it. I didn't say you made them be
more urgent. You sped them up and hurried them. So
(02:09:48):
if you're did C. J. Studd forget how to throw
a dig rout?
Speaker 8 (02:09:50):
No?
Speaker 5 (02:09:51):
So so you're telling me so oh, no contact to
the picture and it speeds them up. It takes them
out of what they're used to do and speeds them up,
makes them feel desperate, not urgent, but hurried, which is
a bad word for quarterbacks and pitchers. When you feel hurried,
you're finished. So why can't it apply to the quarterback?
(02:10:13):
What's the one thing they always said about David Carr? Oh,
he always got sacked? Why, I mean hold the ball
to Yeah, the cumulative effect did it? And I want
to say, ruin, did it changed the course of his career? Yes? Absolutely?
And what pick was he in the draft? Number one? Okay,
you stew on that for a minute. Yeah, and tell
(02:10:35):
me exactly why, Tell me why that's not the See
what the cumulative effect of hits pressures and not sewing
up that does to the run game in the past game. Now,
look where they are at seven and five, and we
are actually literally sitting here wondering if they're going to
win the division. Come on now, So if you wanted
all you got to do is all the people who
(02:10:56):
tell me about pitchclocks, Oh got to slow it down.
These guys can't do their job, but a two hundred
and sixty pounds, full force physical athlete running you down
from behind because they're now blocking and you're taking this
that you're not going to actually just speed up your
a little bit. What happens if you're in the fast
lane and people are honking and sitting on your ass?
Speaker 26 (02:11:13):
What do you do?
Speaker 5 (02:11:13):
You either become a prick and stay there and get
and get punished for it, or get stressed and then
you want to have road rage. Or you scoot to
the right and what do they do? Blow right? Or
you speed your ass up, and when you speed your
ass up, you're out of your comfort zone. If that's
how you drive, that doesn't bother me. You see all
this stuff that goes in so you understand what three
(02:11:37):
guys on an offensive line, the cumulative effect of what
it'll do, and the collateral damage to the red it
affects the quarterback. The quarterback then late to the whole.
That if you're late to the whole. If you're a
receiver and you keep feeling like the ball is getting
to you late, what are you going to do on
a twelve yard route shorten at the ten right to
get there quicker because you want the ball because you
(02:11:57):
think it's on you. And then when you don't get
the ball or when it does come to you shortened,
and it's a twelve yard route instead of a ten
yard route. And the ball now is high and it
kicks off your fingertips and gets who intercepts it. See
how that the dominoes just start to fall. That's why
this position works.
Speaker 7 (02:12:12):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:12:12):
Then I saw just talking about the second half offense
for the Texans and how bad it is.
Speaker 5 (02:12:18):
It's bad. It's got to be if there can't be
three teams worse than the league. I want to make
sure to give credit a credit to Landry Locker put
this up.
Speaker 4 (02:12:25):
In twelve games this season, the Texans offense has failed
to score a second half TD six times. In Davis
Mills eleven starts his rookie season. In twenty twenty one,
under David Cully and team Tim Kelly, the offense failed
to score a second half TD six times.
Speaker 5 (02:12:41):
So they're already there, yes, and there's five games to
go correct and this team's far more gifted than that team,
far more talented. Absolutely, the well even statistics you don't
know about, and good job by Landry and you find
in those is look how deeper it goes? How much deeper?
Now we're into the second half coaches will tell you,
(02:13:02):
be great at the end of the first half, be
great coming out of the locker room in the third quarter,
and be great at the end of a game. If
you can do all those things, you'll least have a chance.
And right now they don't do any of them. We
always talk about, uh, we talk about the clock. Right,
how fast you need to get the football out of
your hands?
Speaker 26 (02:13:19):
Right?
Speaker 5 (02:13:19):
What did you say? Three five? If you two point
seventy five, If you get to two eight or two nine,
you're maxed out, dude.
Speaker 18 (02:13:25):
C J.
Speaker 4 (02:13:25):
Strout has been pressured in under two and a half
seconds at the third highest rate in the NFL this
season twenty point six percent of the time.
Speaker 5 (02:13:34):
Say it again, then how many times two point five seconds?
So less than two point five correct? If you get
two point seven seconds, you're having you're gonna be reaching
bonuses as a quarterback. Yeah, if you get three seconds,
then you might as well you're standing flat footed smoking
a cigarette with Kenny Stable. God rest his soul. You
give them two point four balls, dude, they're getting Think
(02:13:57):
how quick that pressure's coming? Yeah, in a second half. Basically,
what you're telling me is there the second what they're
telling me, is they're beating you to the backfield. Yeah,
they're beating the quarterback to his setup. Okay, yeah, so
look so you want to play quarterback in the league. Yeh,
absolutely not. So we can say we can make arguments
(02:14:19):
that Bobby slok has taken a step back as a
play caller.
Speaker 4 (02:14:23):
We can make the argument that c. J. Strout has
not performed well, he has not executed well.
Speaker 5 (02:14:28):
He hasn't been the same this year. He's taken a
little bit of a step back.
Speaker 4 (02:14:31):
We can also talk about the second half offense, which
we just did. But when it's all said and done,
all all three or four of those factors, it goes
back to where does it start.
Speaker 5 (02:14:41):
It starts with the offensive line, and they are not good.
Your your team cannot win a championship if that group's
not good. And who's been the best team in the
league the last six years, the Chiefs. And it's really
not a question building a dynasty. Yes they have, Well
it's a dynasty. Yes. What Super Bowl did they lose?
Speaker 23 (02:15:02):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (02:15:02):
The one where their offensive line was banged up and
the freaking Tampa Bay Bucks tore their ass apart. They
had a left I think they're left going left tackle
both tackles, now do I if they were healthy, probably
still would have gone Laire. Who knows, But it's Brady
and this. But I got news for you got a
much better deb It was the defense that won that
(02:15:23):
game for them, I mean destroyed the Brady. You know,
you've got a chance obviously, and they got good play.
I mean, hell, Mike Evans, they are a good player.
But make no mistake, you have a chance of getting
your make no mistake.
Speaker 5 (02:15:34):
Yeah, you got a chance of losing that game if
Mahomes is upright. I mean, Mahomes is today's Brady. He
just is. I mean they do it different, but the
results the same. So I'm gonna take you back again
to that Super Bowl. Now, let me take you to
the Rams Super Bowl. That beat, that the the beat
Joe Burrow, who we compared to Brady. What happened in
that game?
Speaker 4 (02:15:53):
Oh man, dude, he but that in that whole season
he was one of the most sex quarterbacks and they
still got Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (02:15:58):
Tells you how special Burl was, Yes, and in the
Super Bowl, how much disruption was in that.
Speaker 4 (02:16:03):
Back Aaron Donald was in the backfield all freaking game,
and Leonard Floyd, Leonard Floyd.
Speaker 5 (02:16:07):
That's right, all right. So so now let me tell
you if you and I are building the team, you
start an inside or you building it outside in or
inside out, inside out? Go to break? Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:16:17):
H I think the most maddening part about as we
do go to break is look at the combinations of
offensive line that the Texans had last year.
Speaker 5 (02:16:23):
Again, I say this all the time. It was like
thirty five plus, but they therapped the pass protection far better.
They were held but begbarrow, cheat and steel to keep
your quarterback up right.
Speaker 4 (02:16:34):
They were better, no doubt. Let's keep on talking Texans.
Next on Sports Talk seven and.
Speaker 5 (02:16:37):

Speaker 25 (02:18:48):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (02:18:49):
I requested it from Huntsville?
Speaker 7 (02:18:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:18:53):
What I Why would I know that? Though?
Speaker 18 (02:18:55):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (02:18:56):
I don't like zero music? Yeah, but I deserve you. Yeah,
but I know nothing that Philip. Okay, here's what Philip
requested it. The all request line is open.
Speaker 5 (02:19:07):
Cody Johnson, Oh, he's a yeah. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah,
maybe I did know that anything that didn't have anything

There you go, there you go, christ Texas guy. But
I didn't know he was a yeah, okay, yeah. Nice.
And they're a great golf course out there, Whispering Pines. Yeah,
and there's Raving Raven's Nest is out there as well. Yeah. Yeah,
(02:19:30):
a couple of good golf courses out there. What's it called?
You know, when when next time, when we get the
boys together on your forehead, when we get the boys okay,
when we get to when we get the boys together,
I want to I want to play. I want to
get but me and a buddy and you and a buddy,
and we'll play wolf. That's the best golf game. But ever,
(02:19:51):
I got a secret weapon because we'll kick y'all's ass.
You can't have a secret I can't know. You can't
unless you did the order of who's going gets the call?
You understand, Okay, all right, I'll bring my buddy Leon. Okay,
you know Leon, Yeah, Lean, Leon. These nuts is always
lean on these nuts, okay, or something. I know you're
going somewhere. No, my barber, what's that. He's a good
(02:20:14):
golfer barber. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And once you lean on
over and get these exactly got your ass, guys. I
got an idiot. Okay, I got an idiot. Yeah, I
got one for you. Wait wait, no, I don't have
one for you, but you that's the best betting game.
Tell people again what it is? No, that's right, yeah, yeah,
(02:20:36):
you're gonna say something like Wolf.
Speaker 8 (02:20:38):
I love.
Speaker 5 (02:20:38):
Wolf's a great game.
Speaker 7 (02:20:40):
You got.
Speaker 5 (02:20:40):
What you do is you go out when there's like
when there's like three or four hours, you get about
eight dudes on a course where nobody is why you're
hawking Loogi's in the studio. Man, that makes me horny
and hawking Lougi's in the studio and everybody now is
just choked on their breakfast sandwich. And you obviously already
ate with two extra sausage patties and a and a
hash brown on your on your wellness program. And now
(02:21:01):
you want to you want a wolf to these nuts? Okay,
as you said, awful. How's that flem taste? Anyway? Right now,
somebody just split there. Oh how's that burrito with salsa taste? Anyway?
Speaker 8 (02:21:14):
You uh?
Speaker 26 (02:21:14):
You got?
Speaker 5 (02:21:15):
Oh you take about eight guys out you can play
and then you play there. The money gets big if
you decide to go wolf off. I've heard. Yeah, those
guys can flat out play used to dues. It makes
sense again, don't tread again. Speaking of which, a buddy
of mine's a member out you gotta go play, No,
not falling for it. Next, I'm being serious, big easy
(02:21:37):
ranch called the Covey. I look at it. I know
you No, not because I'm I ain't remember that's your
exclusive for me and i'd love to. But a buddy
of mine's member. Dude, I'm telling you it may very
well be the best course in this state. Yeah, where
is it that again? It's out in Columbus, that's right.
I thought I was near Klub but closer to my
house and like a place like blue Jack is because
I just hop on ten it is. You think, how's
(02:21:58):
it there? It's like, yeah, oh, the undulation change, it's phenomenal.
Just you were talking about. And I think the same course,
either designer or superintendent is from Whispering Pines, very similar.
So if you, if anybody ever somebody invites you to
be a mayor of play there, or somebody invites you
to play there and they're a member, do not a man, Jared,
(02:22:19):
thank you. You can invite me there anytime, or you
can give me like one hundred million dollars and I'll
just go join. Even though it doesn't cost under great place.
I think it's the best course in the state. Chet
Williams design that course. Okay, now look at Whispering Pines.
Is it the same guy? Is it Chester? Chet Williams.
Let's see looking, looking, looking, I'll find it. I'm telling you, anybody,
(02:22:44):
if you I'm just the reason I'm saying this. If
you get an opportunity, you got a buddy or somebody
can get on there, don't pad, don't do it. It's
called the covey c o v e y and you
gotta you gotta go. It's worth it unless your significant
other or your kids are how a game or something
and you do it. Skip work that day, call in
sick and go play that golf course. It's phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (02:23:05):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:23:05):
So he was a part of uh yeah, he was
a part of the U Nicholas Design Group and he's
at Covey as well as Whispering Pines. There you go,
and it is. And I've been fortunate to play some
really good golf courses, and there's some great ones in
the States. So when you say something's the best, I
personally don't know if I've stepped on a course better
in this state and in that place. It's because I
(02:23:28):
do it in between Dallas, and there's a lot of
great golf courses. And right here in Houston the buddies
are members or I play. I'm telling you, that's as
good as it gets in the state. Yeah, so he
excuse me.
Speaker 4 (02:23:39):
Chet Williams and the Nicholas Design Group was hired to
design the best course, uh, the Championship course at Whispering Pines.
Speaker 5 (02:23:45):
Okay, and then he's got the Covey Course at at
Big Easy.
Speaker 26 (02:23:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:23:49):
If I all of a sudden just roll in where
some falls in my lap, I would that's, of course,
you'd say. Is you know sometimes say man spend that
kind of money? Joined of course that one. Yeah, I have.
I've used every vacation day I have, like the six
months that I still have here, and I'd be out there.
It is a phenomenal golf cour really. Oh it's you think,
how do they get the site? Then it's not flat?
(02:24:12):
I mean you know we are highland pines. You say
so now now, not not just the golf cup, talk
about the underlock y. Yeah, theopogrphography of the whole thing.
It is off the charts really, and I'm so grateful
to my buddy Jared for inviting me out there. I'm
just telling you I won't if they matter of fact,
I might miss turkey and stuffing to go. Okay, let's
not go over one. Yeah, but it is it is phenomenal. Yeah, phenomenal, Yeah, phenomenal.
Speaker 4 (02:24:35):
It's uh, it looks bad ass, just flat out looks badass.

Speaker 7 (02:26:57):
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 5 (02:26:57):
Yeah, I fail you dog a fail you man? Yeah?
Well that's good. Depth. Now, just as long as Donald
doesn't need to concern himself or worry about if he
makes I'm sure Kevin O'Connell's today. Listen, man, what's that
in depth? You could put a package in for for
Daniel Jones. So they do like some kind of RP
O or something with that great point, Well, you can
put in plenty of experience. Yeah, and you've got it.
(02:27:20):
You've added depth to your team. And that's a team
trying to get better. And you know what, well, Daniel
Jones has struggled. That team's that that team blows. But
the old I confess it's got to be Daniel Jones fault.
And listen, he has not played great football consistently. Sometimes
ask Donald how a change of a scenery shields will.
It turned out pretty well for him, So I'm uh,
(02:27:41):
I'm anxious to see how they're gonna and you know what,
it may just be a security blanket. One thing you
can't do if you're Donald, worry about what if I
throw an interception? He's had such a good season and
the truth of the matters, they're protecting himself. You won't
know why Sam Donald's gonna get a contract from somebody
else's offseason. Yeah, they know it, I'm sure, Kevin, And
(02:28:01):
I mean because why guess who's coming back? You didn't
draft JJ McCarthy that high after his injury to set
him for five years. Daniel Jones gives you depth if
in fact, while you're waiting for McCarthy to get healthy
in the offseason, you got Daniel Jones, who's a security
blanket and a lot of game experience in the NFL.
Sam's gonna get offered what twenty five million a year somewhere. Yeah,
(02:28:25):
that's low end for quarterbacks now, so get offered twenty
five million for before you one hundred million, seventy five
million for three is whatever it is to go play.
I don't know somewhere that needs a guy. We can
go through the list and sign him, which means you're
gonna have to have a healthy starting quarterback and you
just saved yourself from having to draft one and you
wait until McCarthy gets healthy, and now you got him.
(02:28:47):
So it's a now thing for depth just in case,
but it also gives you offseason now you don't have
to go and draft a guy in the third round
and go with a couple of rookies and Nate Mullins
right now you go, you got not that he's you know,
he's still in the league, right he's not a hack,
but right he's He's still surviving and doing a good job.
But you've added depth to your team and a guy
who's got a lot of playing experience and has been
(02:29:07):
in a playoff game. Yeah or two?
Speaker 4 (02:29:09):
Yeah, real quick, before we get out to the phone lines.
I forgot Cody Johnson one album of the Year at
the CMAS. By the way, we're just talking about him
last segment.
Speaker 5 (02:29:17):
Keep it in Texas, best state on the planet. If
it wasn't for Texas. You know that is no George Strait,
Oh whatever, it isn't always George straight. He's a Texas king.
Speaker 7 (02:29:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:29:28):
What are we got going on over here? I don't
know the guys that they're in there playing grab ass? Yeah,
what are we doing? I mean, unbelievable.
Speaker 7 (02:29:34):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:29:35):
You know, you can bring a couple of producers to water,
but you can't make them drink. You know what I'm saying.
You can make them drink.
Speaker 23 (02:29:40):
I think.
Speaker 4 (02:29:42):
They're not even listening. Seven ninety k J. What's happening?
I appreciate your holding man.
Speaker 11 (02:29:50):
Morning Fellas, Morning Fellas As. Usually I love the show,
love to back and forth. You guys have phenomenal chemistry. Man,
took my hat to you.
Speaker 7 (02:29:57):
You man.
Speaker 5 (02:29:58):
Love my team here and we got a great and
I'm to have a great partner, so appreciate you. But
happy Thanksgiving. What's on your mind today?
Speaker 7 (02:30:05):
Man? Real quick, man.
Speaker 11 (02:30:07):
I know we've beating his horse to the point to
where it's almost a Shetland pony now.
Speaker 6 (02:30:12):
But I'm gonna I'm gonna harp on.
Speaker 11 (02:30:17):
I'm gonna we're gonna take a little deeper look into
why the offensive line is how the obviousness In regards
to the offensive line. Last year, the theme with the
offensive line was that they were a good pass blocking line,
but they weren't good with run blocking. For Singletary and Piers.
Last year, I think a lot of that was masked
by the fact that they had been exposed number one,
(02:30:38):
and teams were so afraid of CJ and what he
was capable of, they they they didn't come at the
offensive line as consistently as they did this year. Fast
forward to twenty twenty four, it appears that the offensive
line is no longer good at past.
Speaker 7 (02:30:52):
Blocking, but was better at run blocking.
Speaker 11 (02:30:55):
And I stated all I've stated since about Week three
that the line isn't good at run blocking either. Because
Joe Mixing was consistently getting met with contact at the
line of criminals. Joe Mixing just happens to be a
different animal when it comes to totaling to rock.
Speaker 7 (02:31:12):
He runs that ball as if he knows that line
is bad.
Speaker 11 (02:31:15):
So I'm going to run as hard as possible to
break that first wave and hope I can get some yardage.
Speaker 7 (02:31:20):
And for the most part this season it's worked.
Speaker 11 (02:31:23):
Now teams what they're doing is because they see that
the line isn't good at pass blocking or run blocking.
They're basically if you look at the All twenty two,
you'll see this. What they're doing now the last two
or three games is they're putting the linebackers aren't even
coming into the holes anymore. Because the offensive line is
(02:31:44):
getting man held so much by defensive linemen. The linebackers
are more or less playing back shadowing Joe see where
he's going and meeting him at the point of attack,
and what was working, say four or five weeks ago,
isn't working as consistently now. That's also why a screen
game isn't as effective as as most screen games are,
because the linebackers are playing off reading and reacting because
(02:32:07):
they have a defensive line that can manhandle.
Speaker 5 (02:32:10):
Our offensive line. They're not over committing to the quarterback.
They don't need to. They see Joe sneak and they
follow because they're getting enough pressure with three and four
guys with their hand in the dirt.
Speaker 11 (02:32:19):
Great point, and the reason why I bring that up
is because our offensive line is a cluster of second
and first round draft picks. I think you have maybe
one or two third round picking it well. But if
you're drafted a third round to higher, you're expected it.
You expected at minimum to be a rotational player. If
you're first or second round, you're never to be going
to be a starter. To have our offensive line with
(02:32:41):
that much perceived talent to be that ineffective, it kind
of makes you wonder what the GM and or head
coach OC and offensive lines evaluation process or ability to.
Speaker 7 (02:32:56):
Evaluate offensive lineman is because you don't.
Speaker 11 (02:32:59):
I can't think of any team that has that many
high end draft picks and all of them collectively are
getting their hat handed to them. Last point, I'm gonna
let you guys go. The thing that bothers me the
most with this coaching staff is as in that as
this offensive line has been there has not only been
any changes made. And again I'm not even saying have
(02:33:20):
a sweeper, but just for the sake of sanity.
Speaker 7 (02:33:23):
There should be some change. The only change you made.
Speaker 11 (02:33:25):
Was when Kenyan Green got sat in CJ. Stroud's lap
and got injured and you had to take him out.
There have been no they have have There have been
nothing made as far as the line changes wise. Yet
you have the audacity to question a team of the
aspect of your team that has been top five in sacks.
Speaker 22 (02:33:46):
Yards per game, turnovers, everything.
Speaker 11 (02:33:49):
You have the audacity to question your defense after this
game a bad dead at the office, granted because they
gave up big plays, but they had eight sacks, three turnovers,
and the eye in team picks six and you have
the audacity to trigicize them. But the weakest aspect of
your team, your offense. You haven't said anything about them publicly?
Speaker 29 (02:34:10):
Are you?
Speaker 6 (02:34:10):
I hold that.
Speaker 7 (02:34:11):
I hold you accountable for that.
Speaker 11 (02:34:12):
Demico, if you or anybody is listening and anybody associated
with this team need a major reality check because it's
time to get past the buddy buddy stuff.
Speaker 7 (02:34:22):
You're not ahead, coach until your.
Speaker 11 (02:34:23):
Fire somebody, and right now somebody's ears needs to be
on the chopping block. Love the show, Fellas and once again, man,
I'll be even if I don't call it, and trust
and believe I'm listening.
Speaker 5 (02:34:32):
Appreciate Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving? You know what, go to break? Dude?
What else needs to be saying white pile on something
that was perfectly set? There's nothing let's go to perfectly?
I mean, in truth, it's a freaking great point. Matter
of fact, let's clip that and post it. Yet a
great point, my man. We got to make a couple
(02:34:53):
of game picks for Texas. Let's go. Why did you say, Jack,
Why did you say you hated LSU and you couldn't
wait to watch OKLAHMBA kick their ass this week?
Speaker 7 (02:35:04):
Well?
Speaker 5 (02:35:04):
I also hate the Saints too. It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:35:06):
Ody just walked in from New Or he's from Louisiana.
Speaker 5 (02:35:10):
LS where your hand? You're so many LSU guys in
this building anyways, Hatred for the Death Valley on a
Saturday night. You know, there's just there's just no soul
raw states. So it makes sense, you know, well you
know what is who is exactly? We've got to make
our picks next right here?
Speaker 4 (02:35:24):

Speaker 5 (02:36:24):
That's a good thing. I can tell you this. Musicians
don't retire. No, they just take time off and come
back and have their night and then get a new tour.
Speaker 4 (02:36:32):
They get paid a lot of money, or they do
what George Strait does and has like nine thousand farewell tours.
Speaker 5 (02:36:37):
I've been in non country music, Elton John said, like
forty seven exactly. Yeah, and we keep going to him
because well, they're good. Yeah, don't blame last. We had
to make a couple of picks. Dude, I know, man,
Big Jay, finish the show off. I was gonna say,
finish this off, but that's a pause, so I'm not
gonna do that. What's up, Big Jay?
Speaker 14 (02:36:54):
Happy White Guy, Western Wednesday? The basics of all of us?
Robert Elkeene to close it out. We're moving into Christmas season. Hey, guys,
just wanted to call in. I had to talk to Jonathan.
Did he ask Did he tell y'all what I asked him?
Speaker 18 (02:37:07):
No?
Speaker 5 (02:37:07):
I can only imagine.
Speaker 22 (02:37:11):
I just asked him, you know, if.
Speaker 7 (02:37:12):
He was a BBW fan. He said, he said he
couldn't handle it.
Speaker 22 (02:37:16):
Bro he said he couldn't handle He said he was
too much.
Speaker 5 (02:37:19):
One of us too much woman for him, wait to
put him out on the front street. She said, Hey, bro, hey,
I got you got to right hand for It's not
just knowing your strengths. You got to know your weakness
is right. Self aware man, that's right taking the right hand.
Speaker 7 (02:37:37):
John, I'm coming out of the bullpen.
Speaker 5 (02:37:38):
Jonathan is a self scouter there.
Speaker 7 (02:37:41):
I like it. I like it.
Speaker 14 (02:37:43):
Hey, there was like a fifteen second like silence when
I asked him that.
Speaker 7 (02:37:46):
He's like, is this dude serious?
Speaker 5 (02:37:49):
Hey, big big Jay, you heard him. But you know
what fifteen seconds is like, that's about the length of
what that's about to do.
Speaker 18 (02:37:55):
You.
Speaker 5 (02:37:56):
Hey, you're apologizing it. Eight Yeah night that man.
Speaker 7 (02:38:03):
Anyway, I don't want to keep you guys too long.
I know you got some picks. I just wanted to
call in. Thank you guys for what you do. Have
a happy Thanksgiving. I got Texas forty one to seventeen.
Oh ay, and m Texans twenty three to three.
Speaker 5 (02:38:15):
Twenty three Texans smoke Jacksonville. You've got two blowouts. Good,
there you go.
Speaker 7 (02:38:19):
I got two blowouts. We need some redemption.
Speaker 5 (02:38:21):
There you go, Big Jay, enjoy your Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving, brother,
Thank you enjoy, be safe. Talk to you next week.
There you go. So those are two blowouts there, it
is which one's more apt to happen Texas, Texas A
and M Texans Jacksonville. Yeah, Texas and Texas A and M. Really. Yeah,
I'm not sure I see a blowout in neither one. Really,
but I like the big Jay. Sorry, I understand the
two picks. Yeah, I got some games here in front
(02:38:43):
of me. Michigan at Ohio State. This is a curb
stump Michigan twenty one. Michigan can't throw up. Ohio State
beats them into the ground. Sneaky good matchup. South Carolina
at Clemson. Clemson favored by two and a half. South
Carolina's played really good football. Carolanta's front seven is really
frigging good and the quarterback can play. I'm gonna tell
(02:39:03):
you something, man, what what they've done, what Shane Beamer's
done there has been pretty impressive. They can make the playoffs.
And you said Herb Street talk about it. This may
vary well because of the Texas, Texa, A and M
game and how big it is. This is the sneakiest
big game maybe of the year. This is huge and Clemson.
(02:39:24):
Nobody's talking about forgot about them. And when you say SEC,
you know how long it's going to take you to
get to South Carolina If you haven't watched them play
this year. Dude, they're good and they are changing things around.
They've got some things in the future. I mean, their
best football still in front of them. What's the spread
two and a half? Clemson favor about you and a half?
And that's again, that's right. Okay, give me Clemson by
(02:39:49):
a field goal. I'm taking South Carolina. I think you're
probably safer that way. I just think the big game situation,
it's time for it's time for Dabbo to get this
thing going again, that they've kind of been the forgotten
man the last couple of years. And club Nick, I'm
gonna go with the Texas kid. I'll take them another one.
Speaker 4 (02:40:05):
Arizona State at Arizona because Arizona State is projected to
make the frequent playoff.
Speaker 5 (02:40:11):
Arizona State's winning this game eight and a half. They're
rolling right now, playing good football. I would say the
game it's I will take Arizona, oh spread wise, but
Arizona stake win the game and get into the plane
and make the playoff. You've got perdue at Indiana in
the interfavored by twenty nine, give me perdue. Spread wise,
(02:40:32):
Indiana wins the game and it's gonna solidify them in
the final. Twelve. Texas and Texas A and M.
Speaker 4 (02:40:37):
Texas is favored by five, first time since twenty eleven
they've played it.
Speaker 5 (02:40:42):
No way, Texas, Texada and Texas by five. Yes, yeah,
I say, I think it's going to be closer, but
I'll take the Long Horns by a touchdown. Quin yours
has not been good. He hasn't secret thank you. Yeah yeah.
At the offense for Texas A and M. I'm gonna
tell you. I'm gonna tell you some of those shipping
the course of that game. Yes, that shift the course
(02:41:02):
of that game. Be careful is if they come out
and are playing in the backfield, I mean A and
M early defensively, you may be able to force a
couple quick turnover. Now they all he's he's been a
slow start at time. They didn't rolled into it. Keep
an eye on this game. I think that and I
love what Big Jay sand for him. I don't think
(02:41:23):
this is a twenty five point thirty point win for Texas.
I don't. I think it's gonna be there's too much
on the line for A and M to go down
there and pee down their leg. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:41:30):
I just think the defensive UH front is going to
be too much for aim and that may listen, isn't
they run?
Speaker 5 (02:41:36):
But I think I'm taking Texas to win. Here's my
biggest problem is if you stop the run. Did you
see the way Oklahoma played There's been no more brilliant
game plan than the way Oklahoma's defense played Jalen Millroll
last week. They took away his biggest strength and then
then which led to him trying to force the throat
and beat it. Couldn't this Texas. A and M's no
(02:42:00):
number one thing this week?
Speaker 6 (02:42:01):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (02:42:03):
I mean at Texas is front on the other side
Texas's front. You got to do everything you can to
force them to be in like third and six or seven.
You can't let what happened to LSU mentioning Gordy where
the quarterbacks feet take over the game. That happened a
couple times to LSU this year take you got to
you got to take a game plan out of what
you saw Oklahoma do last week to Jalen Milroe. Yeah,
(02:42:26):
I mean they he fifteen carries for what ten twelve yards?
Whatever it was, They're going to have to do that.
Not that reads the same runner, but if you make
them one dimensional, that'll be the problem for an. Mu's
have been more battle tested than Texas. They Oh, the
schedule wise is without question. I got Texas beat Arkansas
by ten. Yeah, they hung on to beat Vanderbilt by three.
I got two left for you, Texans Jaguars. Texans favored
(02:42:48):
by six and a half. As we get out of here,
give me the Jaguars. Spread Wise, Texans win the game.
Speaker 4 (02:42:52):
It's going to be inside a touchdown, and then I
cannot get out of here without asking you USC and
Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (02:42:57):
What's the spread? Let me get there for real quick
inside a touchdown or is it like eight?
Speaker 21 (02:43:04):
What is.
Speaker 5 (02:43:06):
That hook gives me? Gives me the Trojans. Notre Dame
wins the game. But I'm going to tell you what,
we got a pretty good chance. This quarterback, pretty good
SC's I'm talking about. Notre Dame is just better than
we are. This our team speed, if we can play
in space, beat him. The problem is, can we get
a stop when it matters, and they are. We're not
real good against the pass, But if I'm betting the game,
(02:43:27):
I would take SC and then Notre Dame is gonna
get us something that would make me really really happy,
get a damn conference, and MINCN Riley will be really happy,
because if you beat your rivals, you make it to
keep the gig there.
