Speaker 1 (00:02):
Eight oh nine thirteen ten wib A and Ask the Experts,
joined this morning by Andrew Larson. Andrew, of course comes
to us from Larsen Home Services Online Larsenhomeservices dot com.
That's l A R S O N Home Services dot com.
All one word. They're telephone number six. So eight five
three five forty three forty three. That's five three five
(00:26):
forty three forty three. Andrew, how are you doing this week?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
I'm doing awesome like always. Yeah, I mean, I got
nothing to complain about.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
It's uh, it's it's life is good, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Life is great? And you know by the end of
the day, I might not be staring at brown grass. Yes,
this is like you know, I say, if it's going
to be cold, you might as well have some snow.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
You are and for folks to know you are very
much an optimist and you are also I think one
of the one of the things that I think lifts
your spirit and why you're a very optimistic, very positive
person is you're able to help people day in and
day out through Larsen Home Services with all sorts of
different different issues in different troubles. And we're going to
talk roof coating this week. And when I think roof coating,
(01:10):
I think snow. But I'm gonna guess we're not talking
about snow covering.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
That's a good one radio for a while.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
I've tried it once in a while and dabbled here.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
There's good. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
So what are we talking about though? What is the
roof coating we're talking about?
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Well, so there are lots of different roof coatings, So
like when we talk about coating, we're talking about some
sort of some sort of liquid that is sprayed onto
a roof to hopefully increase the waterproofing and or the
longevity of the roof. There's been roof coatings or roof
painting around for industrial or commercial flat roofs for a
(01:48):
long time. You know, as most people you look up
at an industrial commercial building, typically the roofs are somewhat flat,
you know, somewhort of a EPDM or rubber membrane, and
they can get dry and they can crack over time.
Instead of replacing the whole thing, they can spray some
sort of coating on there that will help with waterproofing
or make it completely waterproof again, and sometimes just help
(02:12):
penetrate the membrane itself and actually make it last longer,
almost like a moisturize moisturizer, almost like facial stuff.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
If anybody here's listening with little girls, like the only
thing that they care about nowadays thanks to YouTube, is
facial routines.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Sorry, I just it just went on moisturizers and I
get it every single night my nine year old. My
nine year old has to go through her nighttime the same.
But whatever, you know, I used to watch Woody Woodpecker.
They watch facial routine. Sure, Woody Woodpecker was a lot cheaper.
I will add that, so okay, sorry squirrel. But now
(02:55):
people are seeing a lot more stuff come to the market,
as in roof coatings or actual residential asphalt roofs. And
there's a big one out there, and I just I
don't want to like advertise for anybody, but it rhymes
and acts, but it's it's a it's a coating that
goes on the roof and it's mostly bio oils. And
(03:18):
what they do is they penetrate or not necessarily penetrate.
There's a slight penetration to the actual shingle and it
will actually darken or make the roof look newer. It
will also like moisturize the shingles, so when shingles start
to get dry and brittle and crack, this will actually
moisturize them, supposed to give it more life and and
(03:44):
and they can work. How much more life that specific
product gives I don't exactly know, But what I'm excited
to talk about is something that Larsen and Kini Home
Service that are going to start doing here soon in
the Wisconsin area. And I don't want to say the
name of the product yet because the deal isn't officially done,
(04:05):
but it's been a work in product, like a year
work in progress to be able to get this product
exclusive exclusively here in Wisconsin. But this product actually so
I talk a lot about our restore program because we've
always wanted to do what's best for our customer and
best for our clients, and just replacing their roof all
(04:27):
the time is not necessarily the best thing. I'll admit,
it's what we used to do. We showed up to
your house and it was five years old and it
was leaking, Well, you need a new roof. Well that's
not the best thing for the homeowner. It's not the
best thing for Mother Earth feed throwing all of those
shingles in landfills, and it costs a homeowner a lot
of money when it's really not necessary. If your roof's
(04:48):
only five years old and it's leaking, there's a fixable
problem there without replacing the entire roof, even though most
contractors are just going to want to replace the roof
because honestly, it's easier something times to just tear it
off and start over, and it's more revenue. But we've
kind of refined the restore process. Now. What we want
(05:11):
to add is a roof coating product that not only
can help restore your roof, but revive it. And this
product actually will penetrate into the shingles and change the
molecular makeup of the asphalt shingle on a nano level. Gosh,
I am not that smart. I read all of that,
(05:32):
but I have seen the experiments, I've seen the tests,
and what it does is not only does it moisturize
your roof, but it makes your roof more waterproof and
increases the elasticity of the shingles, essentially turning Class one
two three shingles for impact into more of a class
(05:54):
four rated shinkle so we can take a roof. Say
we come to your house, you got a leak. Your
roof is we estimate ten years old. Definitely not over
that that roof shouldn't have to be replaced. But we
can come restore and revive your roof, meaning fix the
problems that are leaking. It's typically flashing a chimney pipe, boots,
(06:17):
stuff like that, and then revive it with our roof coating,
giving you years of extra life with a warranty. Now,
I know a lot of roofers would listen to this
and go, oh my gosh, they're kind of setting themselves
up for failure because we're going to fix roofs that
somehow somebody could replace. Again. We're trying to do what's
(06:38):
best for the homeowner, and we like to think that
if we come and restore and revive your roof, years
down the road, when it's time for a new roof,
you call us back. But instead of going out and
spending fifteen twenty thirty forty, we've done some big roofs
one hundred thousand dollars one hundred thousand dollars on a
new roof when it's not necessary, not necessary what if
(07:01):
we can restore and revive your roof for five thousand
dollars and give you ten more years for that roof.
So that's we're super super excited about it. In the
very near future, we will have podcasts on it, We
will have videos on experiments that we do, will have
the science behind it showing people how it works. Again, now,
(07:22):
it's not for every roof. Some roofs are past that point.
The ones that aren't. We want to give homeowners an
option to restore and revive rather than just tear it
off and replace it if our inspection deems that that
will be effective. So again, what's best for the homeowner,
what's best for the environment, Not always to tear off
(07:43):
and replace, but to restore and revive that roof. I'm
giving people years. It's something I'm really excited about. Gosh,
I wanted to talk about it last week. It's not
quite done. Like I said, it's a big deal. It
is a dealership type agreement, and they don't really like
(08:06):
to give They don't like to give these agreements to
population centers any bigger than one hundred and fifty thousand
per contract. Oh well, I asked for four million and
it sounds like we're going to make that happen. Four
million people in population, so we're going to be able
to promote this all over the entire state and help
people everywhere. So super excited to get the info out,
(08:26):
get some videos out, and show people how it actually works.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
