the creamy and all natural Greek yogurt with real flavorful
fruit Honesty Greek Yogurt. Another fine crowd on hand here tonight,
over twelve thousand here last evening, even more expected tonight.
(01:18):
The Badgers ranks second behind North Dakota in attendance in
Division one college hockey this season. Great to see this
place filling up even more and more despite a rough
season for the Cardinal in White.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
But hey, the playoffs starting a couple of weeks and anything.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
Happens or can happen, then yeah, you just get in
a situation where once maybe you've got all your bad
habits out of the way by the end of the
season and you're playing for you know, they're call it pressure,
whatever you want to call it, but nobody wants their
season to end, so maybe they will give that little
bit extra that we never thought they had.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
All Right, the Badgers come out with Owen lynn Mark,
and in honor of Lynn Mark, the sixty year captain
is getting the opening face off on senior night tonight.
Unfortunately he lost the draw, but the Badgers played the
puck in their own zone. Scarfoni back around behind the net,
collected by Anthony kerr Up. The ice intended for Ryland
Mosley near the benches across the way, deflected into the
(02:17):
Notre Dame zone. Irish tried to clear, held in for
a moment by lin Mark, laid out to center ice,
swinging and missing was Danny Nelson, Joe Palada Chuck in
the vicinity. Joe played it back into the Notre Dame zone.
Now back up through Neutral and all the way back
into the Wisconsin zone to our right home. Whites for
the Badgers, Cardinal pants and gloves and helmets, numerals and
(02:37):
letters Wisconsin diagonally down the chest, Navy blue uniforms for
Notre Dame, with the Notre Dame right across the front
of the jerseys, white and gold trim, and these shiny
golden domes they're wearing here tonight. The Badgers six and
one against Notre Dame and Mike Hastings seven times coaching
Wisconsin against the fighting Irish, and the Badgers took four
(03:00):
of six in South Bend, winning last night seven to three.
Here's Tyson Dick with a shot deflected off the stick
of the defenseman Jimmy jerseb picked up by Christian Fitzgerald,
the sauce to cross for Weston Knox, the freshman defenseman
behind him. And now it's Kyle Kuchanan spinning away from pressure,
fed ahead for Tyson Dick with a backhand, kuchanin shovels
(03:20):
it into the left corner. Quickly after at the fighting Irish,
they'll break out. Justin Jenike, their captain, points in fourteen
points in his last eleven games with a goal and
an assist last night, dumps it into the Badger zone
Weston Knox behind his own net, fends off the four
checker Hunter Strand got it off.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
To Lynn Mark.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Now here's Tassy his shot for the right wing that
was deflected behind the net. Tassi, Lynn Mark and Ryan Botterrow.
The freshman had a chance low right, couldn't get a
stick on the puck. Dex Shimer at the red line
and sends it mid air and deep into the Notre
Dame zone and hustling after it there. Henry Nelson six one,
two hundred pound defenseman from Maple Grove steel by Ben
(03:59):
dex Sheimer. Then he lost control Strand. Now we'll bump
it off the backboards and Notre Dame will take it
from there. Nelson took a hit but maintained possession. A
man is selling off. Now he flips it into the
Wisconsin zone and the Badger's back to get it as
Notre Dame changes two fifteen into the first no score.
Owen Mellenbacher a goal and an assist last night, first
two point game for the sophomore forward from Fort Erie, Ontario.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Good for that, Good to see him do that. Now.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Sawyer Shoul with a good hit on Tyler Carpenter, but
Notre Dame in transition good played defensively by Joe pilatachuck
to slow down Nico Yovanovitch and from behind Logan Henzler
picked up the new loose puck breakout, passed Adam Piedla
to the red line, reaching for it, Mellenbacher to flex
into the Notre Dame zone to our left, Irish after
(04:46):
it there. Jaden Kerr from Elk River, Minnesota didn't play
last night in the night up here tonight got the
red line, dumped it in and the Badgers go to
get it in. Both teams skating five on five three
minutes into the first period.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Oh look out, he's winding out.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Quinn Fiddley with speed, circling in his own zone. Headman's
to Moseley deflected into the offensive zone, but say the
gold center paddle it out to Danny Nelson near side,
Canoebal drop past right wing, Ali.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Put it in front of the net.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Deflected by Nelson on goals, Scarfoni ready for it top
of his crease, on his knees, made the stop and
covered sixteen forty four to go in the opening period,
no score the Madgers and Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
I will honestly say that the best and most clean
breakout pass that Notre Dame has had is when Owen
Say passed the buck as a goaltender up to the
left winger and they just walked out of the zone.
Not something you see a lot. Face off to Starfhoni's right. Fitzgerald,
who last night won seven of eleven face offs, wins
(05:46):
this draw and Anthony Ker from a tough angle, throws
it on the Notre Dame cage, and Say makes the
stop and gets a face off sixteen thirty seven to
go here in the first period of play, Yes, Say
only flight about thirteen and a half minutes last night,
Nicholas Kemp came in, the freshman from Morton Grove, Illinois.
He gave up four goals on twenty shots, and while
(06:08):
Say left trailing three to nothing, it was Kem who
took the loss because Notre Dame ended up scoring three goals.
Kemp was on the ice when the Badger scored their fourth,
which proved to be the game winner. Here's a shot
by Dexzheimer, more of a shot pass trying to hit
Morrissey back door, didn't connect, and Notre Dame's Mastro Dominico
up to center flips it into the Badger zone to
(06:30):
our rights. Anthony kererr walls off Janikee freeing the Puckford
dex Sheimer thought about going up the boards, thought better
of it, tapped it behind the net to care refeeds
dex Sheimer and does the same now to Karen. Anthony
waits little token one one two for checking pressure if
you will now here on the rush, Finley looking backside
(06:50):
left from Moseley couldn't hit the back of his stick.
Now Morrissey tried to set up a lot of chuck
waddles his way down the left wing. Morrissey shot blocked
by Janikery a shade out to center. Morris He picks
it up, sweeps it in Badger's touch up. Need to change.
Four minutes plus gone by in the first all set
up the way he was supposed to board to the
high center min at the top of except for that
(07:12):
Notre Dame player with his leg in the way.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
Everything worked out good.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Tyson Dick forces a turnover in the offensive zone. The
Badgers heaved deep. Christian Fitzgerald working the corner wall, cut
off by Strand, pucked wobbles near the top of the
right circle. Irish habit Strand with speed, although not that
much speed on that rush. She's very very quick. Notre
Dame whistled for offside, a little pushing and shoving afterwards.
(07:37):
I'm sure the fighting Irish not in a very good mood,
having lost five in a row. And really they've just
struggled since getting off to a five and two start,
only four wins since November second. That's a long, long stretch,
four months of drought, averaging one win a month.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Yeah, it's it's never fun, whether you're a player, coach, staff, fan.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
All it takes is time. I guess here's Kumblin.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Now he'll fly fire it into the Wisconsin. So picking
it up off the wall was Carpenter, and he teed
it up and beat scarfone.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
He left circle.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Holy Kyler Carpenter just his second goal this season for
the senior from Palantine, Illinois, and Notre Dames got the lead.
Actually It was Niko Yovanovitch, Carpenter's line mate. Jovanovich his
first career goal from West Vancouver, British Columbia, not twenty eight,
number twenty. Jovanovitch took the karramut the end boards in
(08:41):
and just rifled it past Garfony.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
It seemed like such an innocent play because he dumped
it into the corner at the angle that had hit
in the corner came right back out to the slot,
and I don't think the Wisconsin defenseman had any idea
even where the puck was, and he let a bullet
go and that was top shelf over the glove.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
First collegiate goal for Yovanovich.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
It comes at four point fifty and give Kumblin and
Harry Nelson, Henry Nelson the assists on that play, and
so Notre Dame with its first lead of.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
The weekend given out assists like Candy today.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Wow, two defensemen assisting on Yovanovic's first collegiate goal. So
the Badgers down won nothing. Not only has it been
a rough stretch for Wisconsin, but all season long, the
Badgers had had a hard time putting back to back
games together. Last night, winning only the third big ten
game in this building in eleven tries. Badrews have not
(09:45):
swept a big ten opponents here this season. Notre Dame,
which has struggled mightily on the road on Fridays recently,
last three Friday nights on the road, Notre Dame had
given up thirteen.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
Goals in the first period. With three games.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
What's interesting to me is that just the pace and
the intensity here in the first five minutes by comparison.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
To last night.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
Yeah, last night was almost breakneck pace right out of
the chute yep, And here tonight it's kind of like, oh,
I don't want to make a mistake, sure type attitude
and that that's hard to change.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Notre Dame just ice the pop face off coming up
to the right of Owen Say the left handed catching Goldtetder.
Where is number thirty down in his crouch ready to go?
Kevin Morrissey will take the draw for Wisconsin. Finley got
his stick on it. Instead, It's batted out to center
by Ali, busting between two Badgers. Knoeble tried to get
a shot off, he got hooked from behind by Pullata
(10:42):
Chuck and Notre Dame's got to get a power play,
leading one nothing early here in the first Yeah, it's.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Kind of like putting salt in the wound when you
make an offensive, mister, defensive mistake like that, you get
into a situation where you down one on what seemed
like an innocent goal.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
And then Hogan let logan handler excuse me, Ensler, Well
almost had to, Yeah, hook fat.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
Player just because of the fact that it was a
golden scoring opportunity.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
And actually Platachuck was right there too. They could have
taken either. They'd take Henseler instead for hooking. That's who
I thought it was originally.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
And it comes at five point fifty one.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
So Notre Dame on a power play last night, the
Irish two for seven on the man advantage. They win
the face off, set up for Jenecke in the high slot,
poke free Badgers have it, Morrissey. Here's Fitzgerald fans off left.
Christian Fitzgerald peels back now in the left corner, looking
out at the point intended for Poladachuck, broken up by
Notre Dame. Knuble on the attack to our right left
(11:38):
wing shot that goes off a stick behind the net.
Karen's free in Wisconsin's Poltachuck fighting through the physicality of
Knouble cannot play the puck cleanly. Both fall down and
now Morrissey goes to help out his teammate and gain
some space and then sends.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
It all the way down.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
Joe looks a step slow on that play. Yeah, to
be honest with you, because usually his feed are dancing time.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
He gets the puck a lot of chuck.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
Injured last Friday in Columbus and upper body injury prevented
him from playing the finale prevented him from playing last night,
but cleared to play here tonight. Lyn Mark blocks a
pass attempt and at ricocheted back to the Notre Dame
zone Irish after it one minute to go on their
power play. Wisconsin's PK eighty one percent this season, seventy
nine percent in league play. Again give up two power
(12:23):
play goals last night, but at a shorthander. Here comes
Strand with speed around back behind the net. Force that
way by freshman Jack Falen. Good work by lin Mark
on the near side wall PopEd it past Mastro Domenico
all the way down to the Notre Dame zone. He
keeps his skates does linn Mark stumbles a little bit
and then flying down to take the puck away. Was
Notre Dame's Danny Nelson. A Notre Dame back into the
(12:46):
offensive zone. They whipping around to the right corner, slowed
here by Ian Murphy, the right handed forward the Princeton transfer.
Good work defensively by Anthony ker rubbing off al Lee.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
Puck played off.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
The glass past the point Mann and down. Twenty seconds
to go on the penalty to Hensler. Badgers try to
get back to full strength.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Down just one nothing yeah in a minute in forty
five seconds, very few legitimate opportunities for Notre Dame.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Yep, I'll lea from long range.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Fired one stick's a by say, clear attempt by Morrissey,
knocked down by Mastro Dominico, who will hustle to the
left point, holds the zone right at the line. Badgers
get back to full strength. Deck Szeimer with possession, tried
to lift it past one of the irishmen, unable to
do so, but then found Morrissey. He backhands at the
center and the Badgers get the job done on the
(13:32):
penalty kill, but trail won nothing about eight minutes gone by.
Here in the first period, Weston knocks pressured but fends
off Carpenter and comes ahead with it, snaps off a
pass left wing off the stick at Finley, but he'll
chase it down behind the Notre Dame net, ducks underneath
the presence of Hello well, Mosley looking for it care
(13:52):
pulls it free low right, but then got poke checked
behind the net by the defenseman Jerse Anthony Kerr looking
for his first goal this season. And a centering passed
by Finley intercepted by Notre Dame, and then Knock stepped
up and hammered Carpenter. That'll be a penalty on the Badgers.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
That's terrible. That's a terrible call.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Hello, Well, he dumped the puck and he was the
last person to touch it, and Knox just knocked him down.
Interference horrible knocks Knox, and so Weston Knox will get
the gate. So the Badgers last night took far too
mental many penalties and had to be on the penalty
killed seven times already the second time on the PK
(14:37):
eight forty one into the first period, trailing Notre Dame one.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Nothing.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
Well, they may have taken penalties because they were called
like that last night. That's one of the things that
I just both teams are playing hard and it's a
good clean check in the neutral zone.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
He was the last person to touch the puck.
Speaker 5 (14:55):
There's no reason for that penalty to be called under
Dame wins the face off defenseman Paul Fisher that left point,
right side, Janicky cross Ice pass to the cutting canoeble
broken up by the Badgers and Morrissey able to jam
it all the way down.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
How come horback?
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Fitzgerald will stay, dex Sheimer and Falen on the PK.
You know without Zach Schulz, that's one of your better
defensemen on the penalty kill out of the lineup with
an upper body injury. So we'll see a bit more
of Ben Dexheimer on the PK. Pass out to the
right point and Blake BEYONDI couldn't handle it, hands it
off down and Danny Nelson, the New York Islanders second
round draft choice, big left hander, pretty good speed, good hands.
(15:31):
He can put the puck away too. He's got it
left plank STAPs off his shot and he missed the
net all the way around the boards to the right point,
held in by Beyondy, hands off down to Nelson half boards,
right bumps it out to Fisher, the defenseman down right
side and Nelson snaps one off and that's a good
stick saved made by Scarfoni back out to the point Fisher.
Nelson one timer didn't get much on it. Dex Seimer
(15:53):
right in front of him, blocked the shot for out
by Janikee. His pass, tried to force it through traffic,
deflected the near boards. Fifty seconds to go on the
power play for Notre Dame, Irish lead won nothing. Shot
by Fisher, blocked by Lynn Mark and lifted out to center.
Halfway through the first Fisher it's center man into Morrissey,
(16:14):
tapped the puck back to his teammate Ian Murphy, who
is pressured a bit by Morrissey and forced to go
back to the defenseman. And now a whistle and a
stop at jim play.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Too many men on the ice?
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Did they say Wisconsin or Notre Dame had too many
men on the ice?
Speaker 6 (16:29):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (16:29):
No, yeah, bench minor on the Iris for too many
men on the ice. I looked across after the whistle
blew and there were six Badgers on the ice and
only four Notre Dame players on the ice. But they
must have scrambled back to the bench off league quickly,
so that will negate the final thirty five seconds of
the Notre Dame power Play and Wisconsin hopefully we'll get
(16:51):
one of its own here and just a little bit
time of the penalty ten oh seven.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
I guess the marble theory. Yep, time out on the
ice or no note.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Looks like we're going to take a television time out.
I know the Big ten network would like to, but
because of the penalty, that should not be the case,
and we will take a break. Let's take a one
minute break the Badger's trail Notre Dame one to nothing.
This weekend series sponsor is Fast and All. Create the
power play with Fast and All solutions one minute time out.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
This is Badger hockey from Learfield.
Speaker 7 (17:26):
To be a Badger, it takes dedication, perseverance, and an
unstoppable drive for excellence. Our team at UW Health Sports
Medicine is no different. We bring the same fierce Badger
spirit to every surgery, therapy, and training, working tirelessly to
keep Wisconsin's athletes at the top of their game, whether
it's nailing the game winning shot or delivering top tier care.
(17:46):
UW Madison and UW Health are a dream team committed
to achieving greatness. Together, we don't just deliver, we dominate.
UW Health Remarkable.
Speaker 8 (17:56):
Cores Light presents to chill or not to chill. When
your friend skips your favorite song on the playlist and
the friendship or jews chill because that song lives rent
free in your head anyway, and you're planned ahead by
bringing Core's Light to the party, and the sound of
that ice cold can cracking open was music to your
(18:18):
ears already. Core's Light. Choose Chill, celebrate Responsibly. Twenty twenty four,
Cors Brewing Company, Golden Colorado.
Speaker 5 (18:26):
You know what New Health Sports Medicine, the healthcare team
for the Badgers and proud partner of UW Athletics. Boy,
I tell you thought that the Weston Knox penalty was
te old tacky.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
I think Notre Dames Too Many Men was pretty close too.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
But Jeff Jackson, the wiley old guy, he gets away
with that a lot.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Especially on home ice in South End.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
They would imagine, James, There'll be ten feet away from
the bench and all of a sudden, the new forwards
or defensemen are coming out four on four here for
thirty five seconds. Badgers have a park plata chuck left wing.
Pat Fitzgerald defended there by strand he'll shoot anyway. Missed
it low to the stick side of the goldtender, say
and now behind the cage. Tyson Dick wrestled down, played
(19:11):
the puck to the corner. Good play by Care to
steal it. Get it go with Tyson Dick, but the
pass to Care too hot to handle it out to
center ice. Kristin Fitzgerald will rag it a bit. Wesdon
Knox can't wait to be released from the penalty box.
It will give the Badgers a power play for eighty
five seconds at Cunis power play for the Badgers trying
to pull even here in the opening period of the
(19:32):
Coal Center, dex Sheimer rink white pass knocked down off
one stick, batted to the ice by Danny Nelson. He
sends it all the way down on Scarfoni. He'll leave
it all for dex Sheimer and wiping out on the
for check was Carter Slaggert right into the backboards Badgers
with five on three numbers to our left. Morrissey high
slot back pedaling looking steps in right side shot that
we'll welcome goldtender big rebound out to center.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Three on one, Notre Dame short handed.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Here comes the fighting Irish Danny Nelson tried to sweep
it towards the ed. It went off the stick and
carame to the near side, but Notre Dame's got it
back at neutral ice back pedaling. Paul Fisher just trying
to draw a tassie a little bit closer, and then
he clears it all the way down and then Finley
mishandles in his own zone, taken by Janicky little one
on one move with Hensler lost in edge, played it
(20:19):
behind the nets there to pick it up with knobal.
Hensler joins him, trying to get the puck away and
knifed it free for Quinn Findley twenty five seconds to
go on the cunest power play. Badger's down one nothing,
Finley on the attack. Fires want to ride off the
brain of the goaltender. Owen say, boy, that hit I'm
right in the forehead.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
And now Notre Dame takes the puck and clears. I
thought you were gonna sait him in his shoulder, right
off the brain. Oh well, all.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Right, here's Hensler now. Power play time about to expire.
Logan Hensler up to Fitzgerald gains the red line. The
Notre Dame blue line slowed by contact from Coobland, who
now has the puck in the left corner, and the
Badger's officially over one on the power one nothing Irish
Niko Yovanovich with his first career goal. Here's a slow
(21:06):
moving shot by Jack Taling got through.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Say with the save. Rebound is there?
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Coucanan with a backhand that got blocked and Al hunter
Strand has it for Notre Dame lost it. Good back
pressure by Kuchanan to lift his stick and take it away.
Kyle Kuchan in the transfer from Michigan Tech is one
hundredth career game that I collegiately two years with the Huskies.
Now here in Madison where he used to play in
the USAHL with the Madison Capitals. Saw your shoal on
(21:32):
the ice right now, Adam Piedla shoal getting physical. He
won the puck free Dexheimer his shot, great direct at Piela,
bounced right at the goaltender and Say bounces on it
and covers after making the stop.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
That's exactly what we need a lot more of. If
you're Bucky Badger. There is too many weeks on the
stick and down all in the corner. Not enough pressure
up above in front of our own goaltender. But Dexheimer
gets that shot. We got sticks, sticks on it, We
got in position for rebounds. Just more aggressive, more assertive
in the offensive zone, to say the least.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Ohen Mellenbacher comes out now with Dick and Horbock, dex
Sheimer and care defensively. Mike ca Stings is shuffling things
up a little bit, trying to find some combinations with
the third and fourth lines.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Mellen Baker to take the draw. It's loose in the
high slot.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Dick got his stick on it, but taken by Notre
Dame and they scoop it into the Wisconsin zone. Dex
Sheimer puts his hip into beyond y now gets some
assistance from Anthony Kerr battle behind the Wisconsin cage, Care
to his knees. Janicky had the puck cut off though
by Horbock, able to slide it ahead to Mellenbacher and
now Horbock with it, and here's dex Sheimer up the
(22:44):
near sideboards by the scorer's table. He fires it in
around to the right corner. Mellenbacher battles it back behind
the net. Horbock tied up by the defenseman. Jerse Dick
though frees it for Horboch and then it squirts free.
And here's Ian Murphy now with it out to center
to Janicky he needs a change, he'll just tap it
into the Wisconsin zone. One nothing Irish shots on goals
(23:06):
six to five in favor of the Badgers, but Wisconsin
took two early penalties, a couple of questionable calls. Then
Notre Dame with too many men of the ice, neither
team able to convert on power plays here so far tonight.
Here's Laragan now Jack Laragan off near side to Yo Konovich,
who whistled one high over the cage.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
He was open right wing.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Yovanovich scored left circle in this period and almost potted
one here in the right circle. Tassy in on the
fore check, forcing Say to come out of his net
to move it to the far side boards. Notre Dame
sent it to center, the knife it down deep and
Scarfoni will pick it up there for the Badgers with
five forty to go in the first.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
Oh, that is one large boy.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Now here's Wisconsin hensler Headman's to Moseley slides a pass
left wing. Morrissey tried to split two irishmen, fail to
do so, got tackled. Nothing called astro Dominico's goop did
Far's side foot race between Hensler and Cannoble won by
the Badger's freshman defenseman. And then Moseley steps around Ali
left wing, past Morrissey back to Moseley. He's double teamed
(24:10):
and the pass off his stick taken by Cannueble.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
That's where Morrissey just pull the trigger. Young man now pass.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Backside right Canoueble got a backhander off after deaking Scarfuni
to the ice, but he pushed it wide. Badgers have
the puck in transition Moseley across the line. Finley saw
us pack. Moseley knocked it down out of midair, but
a care mim to the corner. He's there with Hello
well and eventually mastro Dominico takes it away for the
Irish one. Nothing Notre Dame four forty five left here
(24:37):
in the opening period.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
That'll be deck Sheimer's shift to forget.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
And now Alie knocked the stick of Care out of
his hands while reaching for the pot. Care then shoved
Ahlee down to the ice and then wanted to do
the same to Strand. Cara now has retrieved his stick,
and here comes Tyson Dick one on one with Henry
Neilson can't get a shot off on his backhand, but
gets to the puck out to the right corner. Henzler
tried to one time and to keep it alive and
(25:04):
whift Hunter. Strand takes it away. Two on two to
our right. Good recovery, pull out a chuck who spins
out of control, left corner. Stran's got it, hands off
to Kuland and a flash by the right handed defenseman
stopped by Scarfoni pushed ahead to center.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Fitzgerald reaches for it.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
He got twisted around late offside, delayed, now waved off
as Notre Dame has the puck and dumps it down
in Hunter. Four minutes to go on the period one
nothing irish. The pace is picked up significantly. Here comes
Jack Horback with speed through center, eyes fears off to
his left, round Murphy on his backhand, cutting towards the net.
Cut off by Druse, Murphy hustles after it bats it
to the near side. Mellenmacher picks it up for Wisconsin.
(25:42):
Tries to carry behind the net cut off, but cycles
for Piedla on his backhand. Now fourhands shoved down, got
a shot off and found its way to Hornbock in tight.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
His shot attempts stopped by Say and he covers.
Speaker 5 (25:53):
Good job by Say, to be honest with you, because
he never left there, never left his position. He covered,
he covered, he covered even when Horback got there. He
just had that whole short side covered. And but good
intensity by that line. And that's a line that's kind
of thrown together with Horboch, Piedalana, and Mellenbacher.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Mellenmacher scored last night, so did Piedala, and so did Horback.
Is second goal in three games. Base off to the
left of Say Wisconsin's Lindmark knocked down in the circle
by Murphy and Notre Dame with possession beyondy now big
right hander off to Janicky backside, laughed in a plast
sliding pat safe made by Scarphony, stoning Ian Murphy from
(26:33):
a left circle.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
He just can't leave him. That alone, knocks.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
Out there defensively with fellow freshman Jack thalen Knox able
to jam the puck free. Lind Mark tried to poke
it out to center, could not, but got help from Knox,
who got the job done and then planted beyondy on
his breezers. And now it's Notre Dame back in its
own zone and they'll break out with it. Janicky up
the right wing wall. Lind Mark in pursuits Janicky to
(26:58):
the corner with the puck cut off by decks t'imer.
Now lind Mark's got it and in tight quarters, tried
to shovel it off to care instead gave it right
back to Janicke, although dex Sheimer helped out his teammate,
and the Badgers get it out to center with two
forty to go in the first here's Axel Kumlin from
Stockholm two years with the Miami RedHawks before transferring to
Notre Dame. Now Nelson now to the point. Kummelan fires
(27:22):
it to the far corner and the Badgers try to
retrieve there instead taking away Ali setting up. Now setting
hit the crossbar and it flies out of play. Badgers
cough it up and Nelson, with a golden chance top
of the ash marks and he rung iron.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
Forwards along the boards. Are playing a one on one
game with Notre Dame and they lose the puck and
they just stand there and watch both the Notre Dame
forwards come forward. The other part of that whole scenario
is to give up is in the slot where the
defenseman has to be closer than three stick links away.
You've got to be pretty much on top of them,
you know, give it the old what's he chewing gum?
(28:00):
Juicy fruit?
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Nelson, their best face off man at fifty six percent,
wins the offensive zone draw. They cycle it back behind
the net. Then Nelson cut off and the Badgers take
it away. Morrissey to finley left wing hustles after it
half boards left stick handling on his backhand out there
the blue line, shovels a backhand shot off the pad
of say it appeared. Henzler gobbles it up at the line,
(28:22):
cuts in low left, trying to go short side that
was blocked by Henry Nelson, and then good work by
Joe Pilatachev to cut off al Lee.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
The puck crawls off.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
His stick back into the Wisconsin zone with a midt
of forty five to go until the MFAM first intermission. Again,
Niko Jovanovich's first collegiate goal at four point fifty has
Notre Dame on top, fighting Irish, trying to snap a
five game losing streak. Wisconsin's Kuchenet backside Fitzgerald Hunter strand
on him immediately Fitzgerald back behind the net, wrap around,
(28:54):
attemp stuff, I say, on his knees, puts his mit
down and covers again. Seven ago and now Tyson Dick
was in a headlock provided by the defenseman Paul Fisher.
You could hear the student section and the rest of
the fans a little grumpy about that. But no pedalies
and they'll drop the puck in the Notre Dame zone
here in a moment, Yes they will.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
And with one seven I'm.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
I was gonna say, I'm surprised that there's not a
different line coming out here, because we've had good offensive
pressure from two of the four lines. The particular line
that was out there was has not had very good
offensive pressure.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Nope.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Now here's Sawyer Shol centering Piedla and Horbach Karen Dexzheimer
backpedal to the Notre Dame line, puck in the corner.
Warbock tried to stuff it towards the front of the net.
He's got it out to the point care left wing.
Now Dexzheimer, he'll sweep it down to the left corner.
Alan Bacher holds off Jersef took a shoulder check. Now
Horbock picking up a loose, fucking front. His shot went
(29:55):
off the stick of Strand and high.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
He told drag that right out of the corner by himself.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Wow, Now Shoal down deep Warbock playing well here tonight.
Sawyer's Shoal as well, battling through an upper body injury.
And then he went up high on one of the
Irish players and knocked him down in a silly penalty
by Sawyer Shoal head contact roughing on Shoal notre name.
We'll get a power play in the final minute of
(30:20):
the opening period.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Oh why shoot yourself in the foot when you're already limping.
Speaker 5 (30:27):
Let's plus ten seconds for station identification, ten seconds for
a legal idee.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
You're listening to.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Wisconsin Badger Hawckey, Brian and Ian here at the Cole Center.
Badger's trail won nothing and in the penalty box for
the third time here in the opening period is Sawyer's
Shoal got a little too physical along the near side wall.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Yeah, I'm not under sure. I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
Badgers win the defensive zone face off and Fitzgerald will
send it all the way down. Christian out there with
Gavin Morrissey on the PK, Pallata Chuck and Care not
her name, gains neutral Ice then drops it back Canuble
with speed and Janikee across the line. Care meets him
far wall. Janicke spins it around to the right side,
now beyond the outside the right ring back to the corner.
(31:12):
It goes beyond, he getting rough with care a lot
of chuck doing the same on the near wall with Janikee.
Nelson comes out of there with it wide open in
front and canoueble ten feet out missed the net. Scarfoni
came out of his crease to cut down the angle
and maybe that well that may have caught Cannuble off
guard and then just missed the cage beyond he backside.
(31:34):
Janikee heat fires it and Badger's break down on the PK.
Janicke scores with five point six seconds to go in
the period and the last place Irish lead Wisconsin to nothing.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
He's not the way they drew it up in the playbooks.
I can guarantee you that.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
Once you had the opportunity to make the clear, make
sure it gets down the ice. But more importantly, to
give up a wide open shot to canuebl who's in
front of the net. You have to know who you're
playing against, right and the Badgers have been pretty much
high intensity the last six or seven minutes, but all
of a sudden, it's brain dead.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
Chanicky is thirteenth goal of the season from Beyondy and
canoeble at nineteen fifty five and the face off one
by the Badgers. The clock winds down to Zeros and
Wisconsin trails Notre Dame to nothing after one period in
the regular season finale. Here at the Coal Center, Cleary

Speaker 4 (33:42):
After one period, Notre Dame leads to Wisconsin two nothing.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Last night, the Badgers had a four nothing lead after
the opening period of play. But here tonight, junior Niko
Yovanovich his first collegiate goal at four point fifty on
assists from defenseman Axel Komlan and Henry Nell won nothing
Notre Dame, and it remained that way even though the
Irish had two power plays Wisconsin got one and then
(34:07):
Sawyer Shol a late penalty for roughing Notre Dame with
another man advantage, and they converted after Cole Kanuble missed
the net from ten feet out. All by his lonesome,
he found Lake Biondi, who went back door to Justin
Janikee no one on him. Janicky beat Scarfoni clean for
his thirteenth goal of the season. It came at nineteen
(34:28):
fifty five Notre Dame with a two nothing advantage. Both
teams with nine shots on goals, Scarfoni with seven saves.
Say has made nineteen, the Irish one for three on
the power play, the Badgers zero for one so far.
I don't think Scarfoni had a chance on the second one.
The first one was just a bullet by Yovanovitch after
(34:48):
another Badger's defensive breakdown. Wisconsin had some Spurts playing some
pretty good offensive hockey, but without Daniel Lotch He's been
out since January. Without Zach Schulz, maybe they're two besides
Anthony Kerr, two of their top three.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Best defensive defenseman. Wisconsin's having issues in its own zone.
Speaker 5 (35:06):
Yeah they are, And to be honest with you, I
didn't agree You may have noticed that I was a
little vocal on the.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Knox penalty because that was just a good hit. But
three names.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
If I was to go to the score sheet and
said who picked out who had the first three penalties
in the game for Wisconsin, I would not have said
Logan Hensler, West Western Knox. Or maybe I may have
gone Sawyer Shoal. Maybe it was a tripping call or
whatever it is. But all of them have been roughing, roughing, hooking.
(35:42):
I mean, it's just not what they did. What they
do on a regular basis, But.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
The Badgers find themselves down to nothing after one period
of play. First international report brought to you by American
Family Assurances coming up.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
I'm hosting an Ian Parron here at the Cole Center.
Bilt teams getting back to their benches on the forty
fifth anniversary of the Miracle on Ice forty five years
ago today, the United States beat the Soviet Union in
Lake Placid, who advanced to the gold medal game of
the nineteen eighty Winter Olympics, And yeah, where were you?
(36:38):
I was sitting in my living room in Waukeshaw, Wisconsint
watching that game. And it's fun, you know, three four,
five times a week I walk into this building and
see the magic man, Mark Johnson, the leading scorer for
Team USA during that eighty Olympic run.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
And kind of fun. Where were you?
Speaker 5 (37:01):
I was on a bus some Syracuse, New York, to Erie, Pennsylvania, really,
and then when we got off the bus, we got
to watch the highlights and the postgame celebration and all
the rest of that kind of stuff.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
The only person that I knew in the whole shebang
aru was of course Mark and Bobby, but as far
as staff and personnel was a guy named Tom Austinton.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Okay, And uh, second period under way here at the
Coal Center, Coconon back behind the net, trying to find
some space, forced wide deck Szeimer, Dick Cukan in wide
open straight away fires, one blocker save rebound, pitched out
halfway by Notre Dame, and they bussed out with a
two to on zero to our left Ali looking trying
to sweep it towards Knoble. It went off a stick
(37:44):
and Scarfoni had to hold his pad near post to
keep it out of the nets. Goodness, we're even strength
and the Badgers get beat down the ice. Knoble can fly,
so can Ali. Here is the defensemen out high. Fisher
back right all least shot block by Fitzgerald carams over
the outstretched glove of Scarfony. Awfully quiet here at the
(38:07):
coal center thirteen thousand plus, watching the Badgers fall behind
too nothing to Notre Dame, and now Finley at the
red line will fire it in. It eludes the goaltender
all the way around. It basically serves as a breakout
for the fighting Irish is. They're already on the Wisconsin zone. Jennings,
they're going good. They're going good. At a stick lifted
(38:28):
by Morrisine, Finley was busting out, but Morrissey couldn't collect
and it sent back into the Wisconsin zone.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
And right there was Notre Dame to play it.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
They sweeping around, but pulautachuck there jams it free to Finley,
cought it right back up beyondy at center ice and
he'll throw it at Scarfoni and he handles the bouncing
puck and then flips it off to Plata Chuck, who
turns to his left and comes right up the middle
of the ice Pallada Chuck left playing pass Finley to
the slot now to his left. Tried to shoot Fan
(38:56):
out it the first time. The second time up and
out of play eight to go on the second to
nothing Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
I'm trying to determine whenever went off somebody or something.
It just looked like he flung it at the net
and I didn't see it deflect or hit anybody or whatever,
but referees calling for the face off to be inside
his own so it must have touched something from Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
Complete your story now inside the arena. Yes, and we're
getting there.
Speaker 5 (39:23):
And I found out that the goalie on my team, Stewie,
was Tom Austinson's roommate in college, so we had a
mutual friend, I guess. And it's very interesting to me
how the eastern Western sect just was eliminated during that
(39:43):
nineteen eighty team.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Sure, I mean it used to be East is least,
West is best.
Speaker 5 (39:48):
All the rest of that class WCHA stood for the
World Class Hockey Association and CCHA stood for the Constantly
Complaining Hockey Associations ECAC, easy classes, alternate checking, all the
rest of that kind of stuff, sir. And during the
Olympics when they were cheering for Team USA didn't matter, No,
(40:10):
it didn't. You could have been from Podunk, Idaho. Doesn't
make any difference. Badger's down to nothing offensive zone face off.
They lost at the puck out at center eyes to
flex into the Notre Dame bench stopping play Badgers ten
shots on goal nine for Notre Dame. Wisconsin trailing though
trying to get a sweep at home against the Irish,
and again the Badgers have not swept a single series
(40:34):
this season. You know, they took five or six points
at Penn State back in November, a winning and tie
at home against Anchorage, winning an overtime loss at home
against Michigan State. They did win two games of the
quick trip holiday face off, but otherwise no sweeps this
season for the Badgers. Can you just get in a
situation where you know that what the covering passed were piedle,
(40:57):
a good pope check by the goaltender, say, and a.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
Three on to our lefts Ian catch him Adam. Here's
Laurigan trying to feed Tyler Carpenter. It has stick lifted
by care and didn't complete the play, but Largin steals
and open low left fires one right into the bread
basket of Wisconsin's Tommy star Phoney made this stop and
hung on for a face off. How are the Irish
getting so open?
Speaker 5 (41:20):
A lot of hesitation on behalf of the Badgers instead
of committing right away. Either either gonna make it or
you're not gonna make it. Notice that deck Seimer just
stands there as a screen. If he would attack the
puck carrier, tried to knock him down, tried to take
the puck away, it would have been a lot better situation.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
They saw to the right of star Phony. Fuck is loose,
slides right to Hensler. He'll skate it out of his zone.
Bumps it ahead now for botterrel slowed by Jayden Kerr
this six four two twenty pound freshman defenseman and then
lifted back to center. Brought down by Hensler. He miss handled,
but there was his teammate Plata Chuck and that should
(41:58):
have been a hand pass. Yep, he did not call it.
Now a whistle an off side, called on the Badgers
and a face off. Here to come Wisconsin trailing by
the score of two to nothing. Badger Hockey brought to
you by Rail Transport offering exceptional transportation services, truck driving jobs,
CDL training, and so much more across Wisconsin.
Speaker 5 (42:17):
Learn more at rail dot Jobs. I think I just
need one to break the bubble here. Yeah, get a
little confidence back in your step, man, get the crowd
into it too.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
Couchan and Pope Check trying to win it. Free sweeps
into the right corner of the offensive zone to our right.
Fitzgerald after it cycles around to the far corner. Couchan
stuck his shoulder into the defenseman Jersev. Now Dick back
behind the net. Wrap around, stop, I say, lose puck
in the paint. Then back behind the cage. Fitzgerald interfered
with by Jersev, who went up high elbow Fitzgerald of
(42:50):
the ice. Dick comes over to say a few words,
but separated by the linesman. Wisconsin's going to get a
shites power play and a chance to cut an moutre
Dame's lead and have mister mild manor Tyson Dick go
in there. Disturbing the peace, Tom penalty three twenty six.
Speaker 13 (43:13):
Yeah, this is a.
Speaker 5 (43:14):
Great opportunity because both teams have been pretty lackluster here. Yeah,
three and a half minutes into the second period. And
I don't know if I would have called that or not,
but Christian kind of walked into it, have embellished it
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
That's probably what the ensuing jawing was all about. Padres
win the face off. Dex Sheimer walks the line left
wing Morrissey and he'll fire one. It hits Say and
then cleried it out of harm's way by the Irish
Carter Slaggert.
Speaker 5 (43:43):
Wow, that was a Moseley goal waiting to happen, just
laying there with an open net.
Speaker 4 (43:48):
Here comes dex Sheimer drops back.
Speaker 3 (43:50):
Now Morrissey picks it up with speed through center ice
left wing Finley trying to get around the defenseman centering
pass off a stick. Danny Nelson got his laid down,
picked up by Morrissey Badgers in the offensive zone. Power
play Tex Shimer's shot got through, and Say, kneeling top
of the crease, made the stop and now cross checks
being handed out by both sides, mostly shoving with Pello
(44:11):
well tass. He tied up with Slaggert. Morrissey needs to
be separated from Nelson and will we see penalties? I
don't believe so now I don't think so. Power play
will continue for another minute twenty seven trailing.
Speaker 5 (44:23):
Two nothing, two or three pretty good shots, and I
guess the rebound was there at least on the one situation.
The rebound was there, but no Badgers to be found.
And give Notre Dame credit their big, strong defensemen. They
just kind of build a little wall around their goaltender
and hope that he can make the save and they
can get the rebound.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
Irish seventy four percent on the penalty kill this season
in Big ten play. Trying to get to the puck
was Kuokan and he fell over Fisher. Fisher lost his stick,
shoved Kuchin in. The Badgers control the puck. Tyson Dick
half boards left bumps it out to Henseler refeeds. Dick,
pressured by Canoubal, tried to force a pass, hit the
skate of canoueble and ricochet out to center. One oh
(45:05):
five to go on the power play, Badger's down to nothing.
Dick across the line try to get a deep instead
put it right on the stick of the defenseman Michael
mastro Domenico, and he sends it all the way down.
Now Here comes Tensler up the middle of the ice.
He'll drop it back to Fitzgerald off to his left
with Finley. Pitch to pass. Nice catch Finley low left
(45:26):
back behind the net, centering pass, comes all the way
out to the blue line.
Speaker 4 (45:29):
Shoot it.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
Lanceler will not instead right wing to Finley. Finley walking
down the boards looking short sides say try to go
five holes, say closed it. Lin Mark retrieves, spins it
out to the point in Hensler left wing, pass for Tassie,
off the body of strand the corner. It goes Tassy
battling for it. Twenty four seconds to go on the
power play. He's able to hammer it past two Notre
(45:51):
Dame players, but too strongly out to center and the
Badgers have to touch up their power play time winding down.
Here's Morrissey now rely on side. He'll throw it to
the corner and chase Orse. He gets there, centering past
to the stick of Moseley. Shot hit the crossbar, mostly
retrieves out to Dexzheimer stick handling right wing Finley Finley
(46:13):
back top of the ring looking put it backside, but
put it on the stick of the defenseman Kumlin as
Notre Dame's back at full strength, and then Jeruseb hooped
the arms of Dexheimer up, preventing him from playing the puck.
He was not called for a penalty. We play on,
and now Dexheimer comes out of his own end with it.
Badgers have rung the post couple of times here in
this period. Here's Piedla give and go with Mosley. Didn't connect.
(46:36):
Those two did connect last night when Moseley set up
Piedla for his first collegiate goal six minutes into the
second period. Notre Dame with a two to nothing lead.
Good strong check by Horboch on the defenseman, and now
a loose puck covered by Scarfoni and the stick of
all legos flying in the mid air. And now Horbach
is John with one of the fighting Irish. And now
(46:58):
Horboch needs to be set from Blake BEYONDI. They're both
gonna go. Something happened that spurred Horbock to chase down Beyondy.
Not quite sure what it was, but Horbock's gonna get
the gate so well beyondy coincidental miners at six oh five.
Speaker 4 (47:13):
We'll skate four on four here for the next couple
of minutes.
Speaker 5 (47:16):
Oh, Horboch really laid a licking on him down there
in the corner. That was the gentleman that is receiving
the check from Horboch down low.
Speaker 4 (47:24):
And then as they came back it.
Speaker 14 (47:25):
Was just.
Speaker 3 (47:31):
Beyondy put it into the net after the whistle. That's
where Horback got upset. I didn't see BEYONDI put it
in past Scarfhony, But that's a no no, and Horbock
took exception. So again six h five coincidental miners and
four on four here for the next couple of minutes.
Badger's now officially oh for two on the power play.
Notre Dame one for three Irish lead to nothing.
Speaker 5 (47:53):
Better opportunities on the second round go round on the
power play for the Badgers, some pretty good quality sh
definitely from out in front. But what has to improve
is definitely going to have to be the deep play
for the rebounds or tipins.
Speaker 4 (48:12):
Missed a lot of sticks, let's put it that way.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
Pensler and plata Chuck with Fitzgerald and Tyson Dick the
Badger's for skaters Fisher, Master Dominico, Nelson and Janickey on
the ice oring Notre Name and offensive zone. Draw for
the Irish, Nelson against Fitzgerald. Nelson won the draw, Master
Dominico near side. Fisher pulls the trigger, hit the Badger's
Pallata Chuck in front, came to the nearside corner. Pensler
(48:37):
comes to help. Tyson Dick swept away from him.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
Right wing.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Mastro Dominico had it on his stick, but Fitzgerald lifted
it at the last moment. Now Master of Dominico behind
the net, tried to center and it was taken away
by Fitzgerald, who almost gave it away. Now Plata Chuck
has it. Here, comes Hensler up the right wing wall,
gains the Notre Name line drop pass. Now Tyson Dick
looking Pallata Chuck out near the blue line and Tyson
Dick got hit by Mastro Dominico down, goes say in
(49:02):
his crease, a little collision here the Notre Dame met.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
Yeah, it was Christian and I think Dominico who was.
Speaker 5 (49:12):
Kind of locked up in front, and the goaltender goes down,
and yet they're moving the face off outside.
Speaker 4 (49:17):
I don't quite understand he's hit by his own man.
Speaker 3 (49:20):
Unless they rule man of the crease, but usually that's
announced to the crowd, at least you'd like it to be.
But Bill dropped the puck outside the Notre Dame zone.
Here's Morrissey to take the face off the freshman thirty
one points among the most.
Speaker 4 (49:36):
As far as freshmen are concerned.
Speaker 3 (49:38):
And NCAA hockey been a little quiet of late and
hasn't scored a goal in ten games. Here's Finley, without
a goal in seven. Finley off to his lap fires
Wan he he hit the post. Goodness three pipes here
in this period. Morrissey back to Finley out high right,
turns and looks at the net, cuts to the dot.
His shot off a stick never got to the cage. Morrissey, though,
retrieves taking it off. Strandstick care tried to put it
(50:01):
in front. That went off the stick as well, and
Hunter Strand has it for Notre Dame. Banked ahead Henry Nelson,
the defenseman behind the Badger's defense. The puck slides to
Wisconsin's cage. Starfoni poked it away, Nelson collided and took
out star Phony. Now Ker wants a piece of Nelson
the other way. We come Finley low right back toward
dex Sheimer. No, lind Mark picks up the loose change,
(50:22):
skates out left wing linn Mark the captain stick candling
final regular season game here at the cold center lynn
Mark slowed by Strand as the Badgers try to change,
and he gave it away and now out to center ice.
It's Cannoneble works past Modil, Nelson back to cannoueble god
Scarfhony down. He tuck it in with a backhand. Three
(50:44):
nothing Notre Dame. Yikes.
Speaker 5 (50:46):
After Knuble made that pass, he just kept going hard
to the net. Whoever the backside defenseman or the backside
winger was just left him all alone.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
Canouble from Henry Nelson, who has his second can help her.
It comes at seven forty four. Yeah, the Wisconsin Badgers
on senior night trail Notre Dame.
Speaker 4 (51:07):
Three nothing.
Speaker 5 (51:10):
It's good play, good pass, good result for Notre Dame.
But the Badgers even on four on four where this
basically man on man got beat one on one in
two situations.
Speaker 3 (51:22):
They're gonna give Kumblin the secondary assist his second helper
of the night. Boy the Badgers not looking good. They're
getting beat down the ice defensive zone. They've struggled offensively.
It would be a lot better if they hadn't wrung
the pipe three times, but they've yet to find the nets.
Carfoni fights off a blast by Ian Murphy, and now
(51:42):
the Badgers try to exit their zone mostly at center.

Speaker 5 (52:25):
They would take a miracle by Notre Dame, which ranks
among the worst teams nationally in goals against average.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
One hundred and eight goals allowed per game in the season.
In thirty one games, three and a half goals allowed
per game, unheard of for a Jeff Jackson coach squad,
but only after the Badgers were smelling roses last night,
feeling good about things. Snapping a six game losing streak.
Notre Dame has come out with purpose here tonight, kind
of let it go to their head. Eleven and a

half minutes to go second period. Badger's trail three zip

Speaker 4 (53:10):
At Manars. Well, a little bit of line shuffling.
Speaker 5 (53:16):
As you noticed the line that was out there was Mellenbacher,
Moseley and Tassi. Yeah, I'm assuming that's because of the
long shift. But now we've got Fitzgerald on the left
wing and Morrissey at center and gentle May and.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
Right yep, and a face off violation against Morrissey. So
Fitzgerald will step in there. That'll be some Now Morrissey
actually welcome back into the circle. He'll take the draw,
and it's won by the Badger's Finley right towards the
front of the net intendant for Morrissey, that shoulder high
passed from Finley, snag by the glove of Owen Say,
and another face off to come.
Speaker 5 (53:53):
Wellthough, Badgers will take them, and there's no question about that.
As anytime you start in the offensive zone.
Speaker 4 (53:59):
It's a plus for you. Let's put it that way.
Speaker 3 (54:02):
Sure, now they send out their top line of Ali,
Nelson and Kannueble. Nelson will take the draw against Gavin Morrissey,
Hensler and Palada chuck out near the blue line. Awfully
quiet here at the Coal Center. I'm Wyatt late afternoon
or early afternoon this afternoon when the wisconsinvent's basketball team
(54:22):
gave up a seventeen point lead and lost in overtime
to Oregon. So bad things have already happened in this
building today, and that your hockey team would like to
avoid more. Here's Finley on the rush, slowed right wing
turns back, centering crass for Morrissey. Great idea, the piece
of it, but couldn't get it on net, and now
it's stumped in by Kanneble. He'll chase it down. Actually
(54:43):
Hensler there first able to tap it off to Finley,
who's got some open ice. Headman's to Morrissey, leaping out
of the way the linesman. Morrissey will sweep it down
to the corner. Fitzgerald applying pressure on Fisher, but Fisher
moved it to his deep partner Nelson. Morrissey on the
attack able to knock it free, but Nelson now spins
away from pressure and reverse his course to Fisher. Long
(55:05):
lead feet off the stick of al Lee midair, it
goes Lynn. Mark just checked the man from behind and
he's going to get a penalty. Yep, here's Henry Nelson
now canouble got hit from behind by the captain Linn Mark,
and Notre Dame empties its net for an extra attacker.
Already leading three to nothing. Lind Mark possesses the puck.
He's going to go to the penalty box. The badger's
(55:25):
shorthanded and in dire straits here in Madison, we.
Speaker 5 (55:28):
Add down three nothing and then take a penalty. With
ten minutes and fourteen seconds left here in the second period,
momentum is already on Notre Dame side. This is just
another spoonful of sugar.
Speaker 4 (55:41):
In the Cup.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
Nine forty six the time of the penalty to oh
In linn Mark just his fifth in fraction of the year,
but it was the right call as he boarded canoeble
into the sidewall. Notre Dame with its fourth power play
of the Knights two for seven last night, one for
three to night. Danny Nelson to take the draw. No begger,
(56:08):
pardon Hunter strand out there. He wins the draw. Mastro
Dominico the defenseman has it, walked it to the point
down to the corner. Ali spins away from the pressure
of care hands back to Mastro Dominico at the half
wall left. He'll bump it back out to the point.
Now in Cumbland. Ten minutes to go in the second period,
Notre Dame leads three to nothing on of power play
bouncing point pass over the stick of Cumland. He's got
(56:29):
to hustle back. Badgers will change on the pique. Here's
Cumbland now from Stockholm, Sweden. Now the Mastro Dominico, the
right handed defenseman from Kirkland, Quebec. And he coughed it
up and the Badgers shovel it out and Kumbland back
to get it. Not much energy here in the building tonight,
(56:50):
the badger's getting out played by Notre Dame. Here's Strand
now gets into the offensive zone, pushed wide by Morrissey,
turns in the net out to the point. Now Kumlin
pass left wing, Mastro Dominico walks a little bit. Now
try to put it in front the flex off the
stick of Sawyer's shoal to the corner. Felan pushing the
(57:12):
forward Murphy up against the corner wall. Now Dexzeimer helping
Falan out. But three Irish against two Badgers in the corner.
Speaker 4 (57:19):
Hold and Buck.
Speaker 3 (57:19):
He's got a two hundred eight. Just turn it over
and Shol's got it with Morrissey two on one. Morrisey
left wing looking shoot aang and a blocker Say made
by saying out of play. Cavin, who hasn't scored in
ten games, was looking back at Shol, elected to shoot
it himself, and Say lifted his right arm and waffled
it up into the mesh, stopping play. With eight fifty
(57:41):
five to go in this second period, Notre Dame leads
three nothing, still forty one seconds left on the Irish
power play.
Speaker 5 (57:46):
Sawyer shoal in that particular situation has to do one
of two things. Don't stand there and coast in either
go hard to the net or stay back for a
drop pass.
Speaker 4 (57:55):
Make that decision, make that defense and make a decision,
and the.
Speaker 3 (58:00):
Face off lost by the Badger's horse bock down and
he's limping to the Badger's bench and he'll sit down
now replaced by Moseley. Now Shoal stumbles a bit, but
picks up the loose puck and able to clear on
say who stick candles in his crease. Now stands behind
the net and waits for Fisher to pick it up.
(58:20):
Seventeen seconds to go on the Notre Dame power play.
Badger's down three and now Janicky wiped out by Moseley.
What he Dame wanted a penalty, didn't get one. Jenicky
backup on his skates, wattles his way to center. Now
here is Danny Nelson drop pass left wing. Canueble steps
in on touch, gets a whack from Moseley from behind.
Puck sports free out of the box comes Lynn Mark
(58:41):
can't get it out to center, hit by care on Fisher.
Canoueble can't reach the puck. Lin Mark's got it for
Wisconsin lynn Mark up the ice, sends it to the corner,
gets around the defenseman Fisher. He takes a hit, does
lynn Mark, but still pins the puck against the end boards.
There's Fitzgerald trying to help him out. Squirts free to
(59:01):
the back of the net and taken by Notre Name's
Jack Larigan Barragan to the left wing in Nelson. They're
on side, Fitzgerald tying up Nelson from behind and al
Largan centering pass for beyondy out of his reach loose
pop picked up by Dick in a whistle. I had
a stoppagin play in another pedalty on Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (59:19):
Holding is going to be the call. It's gonna be Christian.
Speaker 5 (59:22):
He's gonna make his way to the penalty box and
just when he reached over the back and cuts that guy,
pull that guy in. Yeah, they're gonna call it a thirteen.
The number thirteen, Christian Fitzgerald for holding. Ooh, penalties are
getting cheap and cheaper.
Speaker 4 (59:38):
Time out on the ice.
Speaker 3 (59:39):
Badger's down three to nothing and shorthanded when we come
back seven thirty seven left in the second.

He will step aside after this year and hand the
(01:01:10):
reins over to brocks Shean two thousand and eight graduates
who he's the head coach.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
He's at the Chicago Wolves.
Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
Of the American Hockey League, joining the Notre Dame staff
for the first time this season, and he'll be the
man that will take over penally on Wisconsin's Fitzgerald for
holding and so a power play for Notre Dame. Of
the Badgers have the puck backside left quarterback card of
the net and got pulled down. He goes headlong into
(01:01:41):
the cage penalty on the fighting Irish and so Wisconsin,
that's it for the Notre Dame power play. The Badgers
with speed from Horbach able to draw a penalty from
Fisher into negate the remaining one forty eight on the
penalty to Fitzgerald.
Speaker 5 (01:01:59):
Don't say a lot of that about Jack Horbach, but
I do say it a lot about Christian Fitzgerald and
maybe Quinn Finley speak kills, yeah, and it forces people
to make decisions that they don't want to make. Jack
just got ripped out, got his feet ripped out from
underneath of him, and we'll go to four on four.
Badgers will have about twelve thirteen seconds of a power
(01:02:21):
play once the penalty to Fitzgerald expires.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
And that may have been that was questionable as a
giving call, Yes it was. He just went down on
his own. I mean the stick of Fisher was near
the skates of Horbach. But wow, Wisconsin will take it.
Wisconsin will take anything. Right now, here's dex Sheimer patient
and now we'll pull it back to neutral ice again.
It's four on four kind of sits similar to a
(01:02:47):
three on three. Just puck possession here and trying to
find open men and open ice. And here's Finley right
wing cutting in goes towards the five hole, denied by
say it popped into the year.
Speaker 4 (01:02:58):
He tried to bat it in but unable to do so.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
And Notre Dame's got the puck boy, he can fly,
and he came around the defenseman and had a straight
lane to the nets.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
And today he's been good tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:03:08):
You know, just by getting there and putting it on
net gives the Badgers an opportunity.
Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
Now Janicky behind the Wisconsin net point pass is handled
by kumlin In that forces Notre Dame all the way
back into its own zone. Kumlin pressured by Kukanin, and
just calm with the puck and we'll sauce it ahead
to Janikee knocked it off the wall and then get
knocked down by Anthony Kerr. Anthony's getting his money worth tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:03:32):
Yeah, he's gonna get pound for pound. He's gonna get
more than his money's worth for.
Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
Out trying to spur on the Badgers who trailed three
to nothing six point twenty to go on the second
Kukanin stick candling hands back to the blue line. Finley
Hensler out there, Couconon with the puck slot shot blocked
it actually got through, Say made rebounds. Say he stones
couchan In with a sliding stop on Kuchanin's backhand. Oh,
those were the two best chances really that Wisconsin's had
(01:04:00):
to back. They've hit the post three times Kochin In
that time creating. But say up to the task one, two.
Speaker 5 (01:04:06):
Three, he's gotten They had three good saves on that
particular flurry by the Badgers and again get the puck
on net, force him to handle.
Speaker 4 (01:04:17):
It forrest now with beggar.
Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
Pardon Mellenbacher with Tassie right now, Pallata Chuck and deck
Sheimer in this four on four, six minutes to go
in the second period. Badger's down three nothing helol. We'll
bump it back behind the net from Mastro Dominico and
up they come. Here's Cole Kadouble. He's been very, very
good here this weekend for Notre Dame. They're leading score
(01:04:41):
with thirty plus points. Carries it into the Wisconsin zone
to the corner, got double team lost possession. Plata Chucks
got it, tried to bump it back to deck Seimer,
but it went and ricocheted out to center now into
the Notre Dame zone. Master Dominico after it. Badger's back
at full strength, but the Irish have a puck. His
power play will last for just twelve seconds. Steel now
(01:05:02):
care slot pass Morrissey tried to go backside to carer
Is pass or shot was deflected Notre Dame out of
the box. Both teams at full strength. Sisconsin o for
three on the power play, the Irish one for five.
Notre Dame with a three to nothing lead and looking
for more kadouble left wing diving for the loose puck,
can't reach it. Care does Tassie flips it pass ahead
(01:05:22):
for Fitzgerald. Can he get around the defenseman. No nice
stick by Nelson to poke into the wall. Christian then
stick handled into pressure and Strand has it one on
one against Phalan pulls back back hand drop past Carter
Slager taken away by Jack Falin pumped off his stick
from behind by Strand. Now Falan and Strand battling far
side wall. Strand came away with it, but then cut
off by the matchers. Morrissey tried to get it out
(01:05:45):
to center. Got the job done. Four forty left in
the second three nothing Notre Dame. Here's bottlel now can't
stick handled through a pair of Irish. They fling it
all the way out to center off the right hand
of Lynn. Mark may have hit the head or the
hell hels of the linesman on the near side. Chad Roethlisberger,
who waves off icing and Wisconsin has possession. Pass up
(01:06:07):
to center deflected by Piedo at no icing he'll give chase.
He shoves Henry Nelson into the corner wall. Puck rolls
around to the far side corner. Notre Dame able to
get it up to the near boards. Pallata Chuck cuts off,
sell it off. Notre Dame can't clear, but now it
just crawls across the line. Lynmark then turns back into
(01:06:27):
pressure and Notre Dame gets the puck back.
Speaker 4 (01:06:29):
Four minutes to go.
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
Here in the second three nothing Irish long lead feed
deflected no icing on the Irish Pallata Chuck now with it,
bobs it out towards the Wisconsin line, horback to Finley.
Finley pushed it to the corner jack after it, throwing
his body around. He made contact with one defenseman and
now Notre Dame sends it back through neutral and Henzler
(01:06:53):
picks it up for the Badgers. Twenty to thirteen shots
on goal in favor of Wisconsin. Then Wisconsin's only thirteen
shots on goal, but they've had some golden opportunities long
lead feed.
Speaker 4 (01:07:04):
Here's the champ picking up the puck, Anthony Kare.
Speaker 9 (01:07:07):
He scores his Birth.
Speaker 12 (01:07:08):
Of the Year.
Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
Badger's on the board.
Speaker 5 (01:07:14):
I'm so happy right now, even though they're down three
to one. Twenty four finally gets rewarded. He took a chance.
He stayed down deep, the puck came right back to
him and he fired it into the net. Oh, good
for you number twenty four, Anthony kare proud of you.
Speaker 3 (01:07:35):
Just a fifth career goal for Anthony Kerr. He scored
his first collegiate goal against Notre Dame. His fifth comes
against the Irish as well. Nice pass Piladachuck trying to
feed the cutting Horrorbock. The puck was left free inside
the near the net. Actually the pass by Dictyl horroback.
(01:07:55):
It got through to Say's left pad and there for
the rebound was Anthony kaerre to slam it in. Start money,
big safe, Hey stops another and then hammered in by Nelson.
Speaker 4 (01:08:06):
Notre Dame counters and back up by three.
Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
Oh my goodness, too much celebration on that one. And
I look at it and Logan Hensler ended up breaking
his stick on it. But I think both of the
defensemen went down behind the net on the initial play.
Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
Danny Nelloy's thirteenth goal of the year. Goodness, Scarfoni made
a brilliant Say he left the rebound in the crease.
It was there to be had and he actually had
to use the paddle of his stick to prevent it
from crossing the goal line. But when he paddled it
out back towards the slot, Nelson picked it up and
rifled it in a four to one Notre Dame advantage.
Speaker 4 (01:08:48):
That was weird.
Speaker 5 (01:08:50):
Yeah, there's two defensemen down actually behind the net. One
tripped over his stick and the other one tripped over
something else. I'm not sure what it was. But back
to the matter being is that Notre Dame was right
on the doorstep looking to tap it in.
Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
So just when the Badgers got some life for their
alternate captain scoring his first goal this season. Nine seconds later,
Danny Nelson scores from a Lee and mastro Domenico at
sixteen forty four. Kara's goals assisted by Horbach and Dick
at sixteen thirty five, four to one Notre Dame two
forty to go. Here in the second period, goodness feeling
(01:09:28):
good there for a moment, the Elsley's centering pass didn't
get the Knox. Here's care though. Here's the goal scorer
care down low right back behind the net, trying to
make something happen. Left wing shot by Finley in that
a beggar. Pardon Morrissey, he got underneath that one in
up and out of play. It goes to twenty eight
to go in the second for to one. Irish lead
the Badgers. Yeah, that's a kind of a heartbreaker in
(01:09:53):
this sense that they worked that hard to get back
into the game and everybody was elated and the fact
that twenty four got the goal, myself included. But you
get into a situation where you can't let your guard
down just because you scored one goal. Lynn Mark face
off win in the offensive zone, bottle out to the point.
(01:10:13):
Dex Sheimer sweeps it around behind the net off the
stick of Tassie. He'll pick it up. That hand shot
didn't get to the net. To twenty to go in
the second for to one Notre Dame. Here's Henry Nelson
up off the glass. Dex Sheimer cuts in front of Slagert.
They can't clear. Good play by dex Sheimer. Lynn Mark
after it whacked away from him, but dex Sheimer holds again.
(01:10:34):
Dex Sheimer skates to his right, shoots one off balance,
got through. It may have been knocked away off the
right arm of Say and out the center ice on
our two minutes to go until the second intermission. Dex
Sheimer to the stick of Mellenbacher, goes pass off his
stick and up and out of play.
Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
Hey for every goal that w was.

significantly faster.
Speaker 4 (01:11:40):
It was kind of a.
Speaker 5 (01:11:43):
Boring slugfest in the first period, but here in the
second period. It's been a lot more.
Speaker 4 (01:11:50):
I don't know. Intensity, I guess is the best word.
Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
Kukanintopol can't get a shot off out high right, slowed
by Jovanovich. Then it's Hello, Wel out to center. Fuck
loose at the circle, gathered in by a Laragan stick
Caanley shooting one right pad save made by Scarfoni. Laragan
got that one off quickly. Yovanovitch tried to push it
towards the front of the net, deflected by Wisconsins. Fitzgerald
(01:12:15):
slides to the far corner of the Badger's zone. A
battle ensues between Palada Chuck and Mastro Dominico, and the
puck comes free and the Badgers. Hensler has it. He's
got Porbach on his left and kooking In on his right.
He goes right, the pass slow and broken up by Heloel.
Under a minute to go on the period for one
Irish Ali centering pass picked off by Hensler. Turns to
(01:12:37):
his left and here he comes. One on two, make
it one on three, Logan. Hensler pulls it between his legs,
stops and looks for reinforcements. Helloel pins him against the wall.
Piedl It jams the puck freedom Mellenbacher behind the nets,
cut off by Fisher. Piela goes down. Mellenbacher tries to
retrieve double team behind the cage. Now Piedla rejoins his teammate.
(01:13:00):
He's got the buck to the corner. Tried to cycle
back to Mellenbacher, but Nelson had that cut off. Tried
to bank it out, turned it over. Mellenbacker shoots one low,
say with a save, and he covers twenty one point
six seconds left. And then Piedla got knocked down after
the play, and they're going to take.
Speaker 5 (01:13:16):
Both of them a badger and an irishman yep. And
an embellishment probably on Piedla. He did get hammered, but
I'm not one hundred percent sure that it justified a
penalty either way, to be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (01:13:38):
Hello Well for cross checking and then embellishment on ingol
at nineteen thirty nine until the reaction of Wisconsin fans
not liking that call. Yeah, I was embellishment. Yes, Piedle
(01:13:59):
is built like a fire hydrant gass and Hello Well
kind of shoved him.
Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
Up near the shoulder and had him went down.
Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
Rather easily, just like he'd been shot face off to
the right of say four on four to twenty one
point six seconds left in this second period. Still more
hockey to be played and maybe a comeback for the
Cardinal in white and I cycle off the wall.
Speaker 4 (01:14:22):
Finley tried to go a short side shot, it too high.
Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
He was in tight left. Then Finley wanted free from
Fisher threw it out to center. Badgers need to touch
up care patient with a puck, crawls off his stick
to the far corner, taking it from him. Canoeble goes
rink wide now to Fisher, looks at the clock, realizes
the horn will sound, and it does and notre name
takes a four to one lead to the locker room
after two periods of play. American Family Insurance is the

Dame had a two to nothing lead after the opening period,
then added to it at seven forty four the second period.
Cold Knuble finished off a rush down the eyes from
Henry Nelson and from fellow defenseman Axel Kumlin eleventh goal
of the year for Canueble. Then Notre Dame was up
three to nothing. It stayed that way until Anthony Kerrer
scored his first goal of the season. The fifth year
(01:16:23):
defenseman from Winnipeg picked up a rebound and buried it
past Owen Say sixteen thirty five. The time of that goal,
Corbach and Dick with assists. The Badgers within two and
the place was lively, But seconds later it got awfully
quiet as Danny Nelson got a rebound after back to
(01:16:43):
back stops by Tommy Scarfoni, Nelson buried his thirteenth goal
of the season at sixteen forty four, a Lee and
Mastro Dominico with helpers for to one Notre Dame after two.
The Badgers had fifteen shots on goal in that second period,
but Say stopped fourteen. He's got twenty three saves through
two periods. Notre Dame eight shots on goals, Scarfoni stops
(01:17:06):
six of them. Tommy has stopped thirteen of seventeen shots
he's faced here tonight, the Badgers down four to one
after two periods of play.
Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
It's been a rough one.
Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
Here tonight, and you wouldn't think it would be the
case with really, you know, nothing to lose, You're it
on home ice, playing in front of a nice crowd
on senior Day.
Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
But the Badgers did not start well.
Speaker 3 (01:17:28):
They've taken too many penalties as well and put them
behind the eight ball big time.
Speaker 5 (01:17:33):
Well, they could just get in a situation at least
from my perspective, is that for whatever reason, they thought
it was so easy last night, but Notre Dame has pride. Also,
they get into a situation where they came out with
reckless abandon and they were going to, you know, play
with nothing to lose basically, which is the mentality you'd
(01:17:56):
love the team to have your team ab but they
did it under control. The Badgers when they did react,
didn't do it under control. Ended up taking cheap penalties.
And I would say that probably of all the penalties
through out here tonight, eighty percent of more blah as
far as penalties were concerned.
Speaker 3 (01:18:14):
Yeah, the Badgers so far tonight'd have taken seven penalties
for fourteen minutes. They took far too many last night
as well, seven penalties for correcteen minutes. Fourteen penalties on
a weekend. Badgers hadn't done that all season long. They're
down four to one after two back in a couple
of minutes. This is Badger Hockey from Airfield.
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
Badger Hockey is won. Do you buy you w Health
Sports Medicine treating the Badgers, treating you and buy ce Geek.
C geek is the official ticketing Partnerrow the Wisconsin Badgers
find tickets to Badger games and more ce g. It's
time to drop the put for the third period.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Bryan, Posiki and parn here at the Cole Center. They're
carrying about to begin skating four on four to start
this period for a minute thirty nine because of the
quincidental minors to Piedla and Hellowell. At the end of
the second, Badger's trailing four to one, seven three winners.
Last night, but tonight it just not has not been
(01:19:16):
Wisconsin's night, and Notre Dame stick candling. It's Nelson handing
off to his deep partner. Komlin hands back now to
Danny Nelson. He's a fine young player. Nelson wing snaps
off his shot, got through the defenseman and Scarfoni with
a stick sa Scarfoni's faced only eighteen shots tonight, fourteen
saves and he stops another in Titus Janicky got through
(01:19:39):
the Badgers defensive corps right towards the front of the
net five feet out.
Speaker 4 (01:19:43):
Scarfoni a big staff.
Speaker 5 (01:19:44):
I think Christian thought he had the puck, and next
thing I know, it's stuck in the kind of wet
ice in front of the net.
Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
Fitzgerald stick candling through a couple of fighting Irish but
lost the puck and then got planted to the ice.
Badgers with a puck again. Finley across the line right wing,
steps in on the defenseman, cuts it through the paint,
trying to go a short side on the near side
of Say and Say I think got his face.
Speaker 4 (01:20:08):
Mask on that shot.
Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
And now Kannuble eludes Finley at center, hands off to
Mastro Dominico and sends it down to the corner to
Kannouble pass out to the high slot.
Speaker 4 (01:20:17):
They move it right side.
Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
Mastro Dominico steps in and a blocker' save made by
Scarfoni off the glass and all the way back through
neutral ice and down to the Notre Dame zone. Badgers
will get a change Irish as well. Fifteen seconds left
in the matching miners early third period, Wisconsin down four
to one.
Speaker 4 (01:20:35):
Scarfoni stops the.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Puck behind the net reversus de Jack Fhalin thought about
skating ahead and then pulled it back and flubbed a pass.
It finally got its way to weston Knox. Knox will
dump it in. He out of the box, We'll stay
on the ice, joining Tassi and Morrissey. He able to
hold his own, fires it back behind the net after it. Tassy,
(01:20:57):
throwing his body around Morrissey to the point of Knox,
now failing cuts in right side from behind. Slaggert catches
up and lifts his stick.
Speaker 4 (01:21:04):
Yeah, Slagger had just come off the bench on a
ship change, and.
Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
Now Morrisey able to hold his zone and jam the
puck to the corner. There to pick it up was
Henry Nelson to Kumlin, who coughed it up behind the nets.
Morrissey pinned against the wall, but works at free centering
pass for Kucanin, intercepted by the Irish strand. Now one
hands the puck that goes off a couple of badgers
and gathered in by kuchen In. Two on two to
(01:21:28):
our left. Coukan In with mootrel topol shot and it
went off the stick of Hellowell and wide and then
Kukanon stuck his shoulder into Hellowell trying to win the
puck free and does for bottlerel in the corner defended
by the defenseman. Jerseb pops into the air. Lind Mark
got knocked to the ice and from his knees couldn't
pick it up and now it's flung all the way
down by Notre Dame. Icing the calls seventeen seventeen to
(01:21:51):
go on the third Badgers down four to one.
Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
Good pressure, Badgers are putting it all out on the line.
There's no question about that. There were some pretty significant hits.
There was some very smart puck movement in the defense
in the offense of his own and then once again
the only scoring opportunity has been the result of the
speed of Quinn Finley.
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Chase off of the right of Owen Say, who stopped
twenty four of twenty five shots tonight after giving up
three goals on eleven shots in thirteen and a half
minutes last night and getting the heave a lot of
chuck will dump it in Sawyer's shoal right corner against
the glass by Jersev swooping in Horbock to pick up
(01:22:32):
a loose puck. He'll lift it over to Mellenbacher, but
over his Stiket goes and then Strand try to clear
Schol holds his own collected by Mellenbacher, threw it back
to the corner instead, right to a Notre dame defenseman Jersev,
who threw it up over the glass and into the crowd.
And hopefully everybody's okay. There's a mom down on the
(01:22:52):
head of early on to her daughter on her lap,
and it may have hit her daughter in the head
after it carramed off another fan fathers now assisting the
young girl as well. And scary, I'm up there for
that young family. They're about five rows up off the ice.
Finley low left finds Mosley turns it, fires it, say
(01:23:16):
somehow kept it out. I'm not sure he knew he
kept it out. I set up though, Findley to Mosley
Ryland thirty five points a career high, now tries to
wrap it around.
Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
It crawled off the toe of his stick.
Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
Three straight thirty plus points seasons for Moseley, two at
Tech before coming here.
Speaker 5 (01:23:33):
Yeah, and uh, he's just a smart hockey player. I
don't think he's any more skilled or many more physical
or any faster than anybody on the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (01:23:43):
Yeah, but he's just so smart. Yeah, and determined as well.
Here's deck Seimer back in his own zone. Sixteen fifteen
to go. Here in the third, Wisconsin needs three to tie. Fisher,
Poke checks Finley, but Quinn regains control, pass off the
stick of Fitzgerald range shot by knocks off the mark
and it came off the end boards to Fisher, who
(01:24:05):
throws it out to center. Now the mom is walking
with her young daughter up the stairs and holding her
hand as she goes, and I'm guessing she'll probably get
ice creamer, cotton candy out of this.
Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
Here's Morrissey now, stick handling in the offensive zone. A
lot of ozone possession for the Badgers here, but no penetration.
You know, they've had a few shots get.
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
Through rate diirect, Tassi chanced out backside and Dick unable
to finish.
Speaker 5 (01:24:34):
And then he gets planted into the ice after the whistle. Yeah,
Simon Tassy, good deflection out in front. Now he's gonna
go in there and defend his teammates. I don't think
anybody can. Notre Dame wants anything to do with him.
Speaker 3 (01:24:47):
Knocks his shot, Tassy got the back of his stick
on it and redirected it through the crease and was
rolling backside when Dick was hustling after it, and he
got clobbered trying to finish that play. Padri's still down
four to one, fifteen to thirty four left here in
the third period of play.
Speaker 5 (01:25:05):
Territorial advantage if you want to see whether the ice
is tilted or not. Four and a half minutes into
the period, I don't think the Badgers have been in
their own zone. If you look at the skate marks
and the defensive zone for the Badgers, there's about six
skate marks and there's about six thousand up in front
of Notre Dames into the ice.
Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
And again, the Irish have a propensity of giving up
a lot of goals seven last night, Ten times this
year they've given up five or more, but they've held
Wisconsin at just one here this evening, and now Wisconsin
is challenging the previous play for a potential major pedaly
as you heard Andrew Brugeman just discuss over the loudspeakers.
(01:25:46):
So we'll see if a major penalty will be called
on Notre Dame. And we're waiting to take a look
at any video replay we may get, and maybe it
was when Tyson Dick went down hard trying to get
to the loose puck that was rolling through the Notre
Dame Crease, I.
Speaker 4 (01:26:05):
Can't honestly tell you, yep, one way or the other.
Speaker 3 (01:26:09):
Director of Hockey Operations Luke Recknor upstairs, suggesting that somewhere
along the line Dick got Well, maybe it was Dick
or a play prior to that, because what we see
from the video replay provided by the Big Ten Network,
when Dick got knocked down after the whistle, it was
(01:26:30):
right hand and stick to his chest, no head contact whatsoever.
But we'll wait and see if anything, maybe something else
they're looking at we'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:26:42):
No, I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:26:42):
I didn't see any hand contact. I didn't see anything else. No,
not at least on the video replay that we can
see here on the big screen.
Speaker 3 (01:26:51):
But actually Todd Maleski of the Wisconsin State Journal suggesting
that maybe Ben Dexheimer got his head planted into the
glass on the near side wall during a previous sequence.
Speaker 4 (01:27:02):
So again the referees continue to look at it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:06):
Badger Hockey brought to you by the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation reminding you to always drive sober zero in Wisconsin.
Together we can save lives. Get the drive sober app today.
All right, here's Andrew Brugeman out of the penalty box.
No major pedalty. So the Badgers without a timeout. So
(01:27:29):
Luke Regner, the director of hockey ops, must have seen something.
And the Badgers took a chance at it and down
three goals to time out. We've got nothing to lose, right, exactly,
and so a face off though to come inside the
Notre Dame zone gives the Badgers five skaters a chance
to rest a little bit, but also the Notre Dame defenders.
Speaker 5 (01:27:52):
Yeah, especially since it was a nicing and Notre Dame
is not allowed to change.
Speaker 4 (01:27:57):
Yeah, on that particular situation.
Speaker 3 (01:28:01):
All right, Morrising for the draw, and Nelson wins it
to the corner to his brother, but he can't clear.
Morrisey's got it low right, and the hat it whacked
off his stick and it wobbles back Wisconsin's way, and
Star a phony out of his net will set it
to the far wall in Hensler up to center, brought
down by Henry Nelson waiting for Ali to come on side,
and then he dumps it in and now Hensler trying
(01:28:23):
to settle down the bouncing puck backhand pass intended for
Tassie up at center, never got to him, and now
Kunouba will backhanded deep into the badger zone for to
one Notre Dame. Five minutes gone by here in the
third period of play, Irish came out, scored two goals
in the first, scored another early in the third before
Anthony Care scored to cut that deficit to two. But
(01:28:45):
then nine seconds after Care lit the lamp, Notre Dame
did the same and back up by three. Bargin fourth
line right winger got it into the offensive zone. Care,
without a stick, try to kick the puck to Warbach.
He had it for a moment, then lost it. Anthony,
now putting his body around, wanted to go to the
(01:29:05):
bench for a stick, but he can't because Notre Dame
possessing in the offensive zone. Paster Dominico low Wright tries
to shoot in does and Care I think block that
down with those left shoulder jack horback after it. He
can't get it out to center. Caro now patient looks
back to Ben Deckzheimer, who's got time and space, and
now the Badgers will come out of their own end.
Kara wheeling backhand past the neutral Warbock had it knocked
(01:29:29):
off his stick from behind. Ker trying to dig it
free just across the Badger blue line, and Wisconsin's Botterrel
shoves it out to neutral.
Speaker 5 (01:29:40):
Are Dame very content to play in the neutral zone.
Play at the blue line up against the boards.
Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
There's Lauragan now scoops it ahead and intended for skilling Off,
didn't get to him. The Badgers have possession. I went
Mellenbacher with it goal and an assist last night from
Mellenbacher left wing. Botteril hands off now to Kouka and
looking brinkwide pass right idea. It was intended for Phalan
who was open, but Jack unable to play it cleanly,
(01:30:08):
and the Badgers have to touch up for checking. Pressure
from Shoal fuck to the near corner, knocks avoids some contact,
holds the zone nicely. Shoal got knocked down. We play
on and around the near side. It's Queston Knox putting
his shoulder into syling Off, but sillin offf able to
get it out to center. The Badgers after it only
(01:30:28):
thirteen minutes to play here in the third, Wisconsin needs
three to pull even. The Badgers had scored only eight
goals during a six game losing streak before burying seven
last night. But back to the scoring woes here tonight,
only one goal on twenty six shots on goal plus
three pipe shots. Here's a steal. Finley slot turn around
(01:30:50):
shot miss the net, went glove side prep around Laroie,
hit the outside of the post one slight step further
and that buck's in the back of the net. Now
Murphy centering pass deflected into mid air, bounces right back
to Murphy out to the point. Komlin is shot blocked
by Finley. After it, Janicky bumped it off the end
boards beyond he setting up a man in front. Murphy
(01:31:11):
roofs it. It's five to one.
Speaker 4 (01:31:13):
Notre name both defenseman caught behind the goal line.
Speaker 5 (01:31:19):
Nobody taking the man out in front forwards looking for
a pass up the up the boards if possible, didn't
get it. He just kind of did a stutter step,
got Scarphoni to go down and you'll notice that he's
top shelf short side.
Speaker 3 (01:31:36):
Big time goal seven thirty six the time of the
goal for Ian Murphy, his fourth of the year. He
had thirty five and four years at Princeton. Murphy buries
this one for a five to one lead, and Tommy
Scarfoni on senior night is being pulled in favor of
sophomore William Gramma. Scarfhoni pulled with twelve twenty four left
(01:31:57):
here in the third period of play. He goes forty
seven minutes in thirty six seconds, allowing five goals on
twenty two.
Speaker 4 (01:32:07):
Shots, and William Gramma will step in.
Speaker 3 (01:32:13):
Grandma two and four this season of three thirty two
goals against an eight to seventy seven save percentage. His
last appearance January twenty fifth, here against Michigan got the start,
gave up two goals on five shots in twelve minutes,
and got pulled in a four to four tie, which
turned out to be a shootout loss. Notre Dame came
to play tonight. Wisconsin will come out of its own
(01:32:41):
end with the puck. Deech Sheimer slides that had to
Tyson Dick Rank wide, too far for Fitzgerald. Henry Nelson
back out to neutral. Cara then took a shoulder to
dump it in and Kumlin's got it for Notre Dame.
Notre Dames goal scored by Ian Murphy give BEYONDI and
Janicke at seven thirty six. Janicky with another two point
(01:33:04):
game in this series, two goals, four points on the
weekend stirmish near the benches now between the Badgers and
the Irish. Wisconsin had too many men on the ice,
but they don't call it. Cannuble turnaround shot that was
deflected behind the net, spinning around out of controlled grammar
in between the pipes. A shot by Knuble missed the
cage and all the way out to center. It comes
(01:33:26):
eleven twenty to go in the third, five to one.
Notre Dame fuck in the Wisconsin zone, faling after it
now knocks and Canouble battling Melen Baker finds himself with
a Biscuits pass ahead to Piedla cut off by strand
one Notre Dame. Poor checking has been pretty good here,
(01:33:47):
that's been phenomenal.
Speaker 4 (01:33:48):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:33:49):
Here's Knox now gains the red line. Then the Notre
Dame Blue hands off pour back hill fire blocker saved
may by say Knox was wiped out no penalty, belln
Baker trying to dig it free in the attacking zone.
Speaker 4 (01:34:01):
Koukin in with him.
Speaker 3 (01:34:03):
Here's shol throwing his body around. Now the Badger's offside,
but Henzler from center Ice will hammer it in anyway.
Badgers touch up with ten thirty five to go. Excellent
crowd here tonight to watch Senior night. But the fans
that were Cardinal and White will be going home disappointed.
There is a young family to are left wearing Notre
(01:34:24):
Dame green, the parents of two youngsters, so they'll have
a good time tonight. Not the case for Wisconsin fans.
Here's jersev works at far side. Hello, well, now, Carter
Slaggard had his pocket pick from behind my Morrissey breakaway
for the freshman Morrisey who lost the control of the
puck as.
Speaker 4 (01:34:45):
He was running to the slot.
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
It just bounced up on edge and just couldn't get
his stick back on it to settle it down. Here's
Dexzheimer now hands off left wing. Morrissey pulls away from
the pressure from Murphy, finds a man care His snapshot
just went off the eat. Carter Slaggert now to play
nine to fifty to go in the third Notre Dame
five Wisconson one. Tonight's game brought to you in part

Once again we'd like to thank this weekend series sponsor
Fast and All create the power play with Fast and
All solutionists Notre Dame five Wisconsin one. Nine's fifty to
go Badger's poll William Gramma for an extra attacker. Down
four with nine to fifty left in the third period,
(01:36:44):
Badgers win the offensive zone, face off, Morrissey with the
puck down to the goal line and Moseley back to Morrissey.
Now did dex Sheimer right wing? Finley Lynn Mark and
the buffers spot. Here's dex Sheimer, Morrissey, Tassy try to
get room in front of the net. Just got spired
in the crotch by Henry Nelson, went down in a
penalty coming up on Nelson, and Tassie is really in
(01:37:06):
some pain.
Speaker 4 (01:37:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:37:10):
I didn't see the initial hit, but I see the
reaction as he's down there laying on the ice in
what we would call agony.
Speaker 4 (01:37:19):
I think that got a good way to do it.
Speaker 3 (01:37:22):
That could be a five minute major on Nelson. You know, Blake,
beg your pardon. Adam Piedla was ejected from a game
against Penn State here a couple of weeks ago for
going up hard with his stick in between the legs
of one of the Penn State players, and he was
ejected from that game. This could be a five minute
major on Henry Nelson. The Badger's down four. They could
(01:37:45):
use any help they can get.
Speaker 4 (01:37:48):
We'll have to take a look and see. Well.
Speaker 3 (01:37:50):
I think it's plain as day if piedal it gets
five minute major and a game is conduct for what
he did against Penn State, you would assume that Nelson
will get the same here.
Speaker 4 (01:38:02):
But that did not look good, and you.
Speaker 5 (01:38:06):
Will you know, and again I refer to this if
you know the temperament of the lines or the referee
pairings that are here. As we commented last weekend, the
little guy made all the calls.
Speaker 4 (01:38:23):
Yeah, and Andrew Brugeman's doing it here tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:38:25):
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
Yep. Major penalty on Nelson for spearing.
Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
And I don't want to defend Henry Nelson, but his
back was to tassy and he with his stick. He
I think he may have been trying to feel tassy,
so to speak, and he lifted it up strong and got.
Speaker 5 (01:38:47):
It right between his legs, right in the crotch. Nelson
gone a major penalty.
Speaker 3 (01:38:52):
So Wisconsin's power play, which today is zero for three
and has struggled of late, is going to be on
the ice, and now Tassy needs to be separated from
one of the Irish Mosley was dawn a little bit too. Nevertheless,
the Badgers can put the goalteer back in between the pipes,
get a five on four power play, a five minute
(01:39:13):
power play. They can score as hope, potentially as many
times as possible, and maybe get back in this game here.
Speaker 4 (01:39:20):
I well, there's always that hope.
Speaker 5 (01:39:23):
And but again, as few shots or a golden opportunities
that the Badgers have had on their power play, it
is just a hope in my book.
Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Yep, Dezheimer Finley right wing, pressured by Slaggert, sauced across
dex Sheimer, catches left wing morrisy no place to pass
or shoot, walks down to the goal line and looks,
here's Dexzheimer at the line right wing. Finley one timer
hit Tassy right upstairs, down to the ice, it goes
and Mastro Domenico able to clear it all the way down. Oh, Finley,
(01:39:54):
just fire that shot right off of Simon Tassy. Not
a good couple of minutes for number eleven. Here's Finley
now still looking for his twentieth goal of the season.
Finley out to the left wing, collected by deck Sheimer
quickly right side. Good catch by Kukanon. He'll hand off
of the hash marks to Finley back to the center
point in deck Seimer right wing. Finley walks down to
(01:40:15):
the goal line and looks kukan In now back behind
the net. Kukanin, trying to make a play, comes to
the left side now and morrisy four h five to
go on the major.
Speaker 4 (01:40:24):
Power play centering past. Kukanon can't put it in.
Speaker 3 (01:40:28):
Kukanino has the puck back goal line left, Kukanin out
to the point now Deck Sheimer able to hold his own. No,
they would slid off side, Yeah, dex Sheimer fumbled it
a bit, picked up his head a bit too quickly.
The puck crawled across the line ever so slightly offside.
On Wisconsin three point fifty six to go on Nelson's
spearing penalty at ten twenty seven or ten twenty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:40:52):
I should say, as.
Speaker 5 (01:40:53):
We uh assess the two power play units, the first
one obviously uh pass pass pass shot. Yeah, I got
a feeling that this one is put the fuck on net.
Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
Please, here's Fitzgerald now gains his own Badgers on the
power play Hensler left wing, Tyson Dick walks in, puts
it low left. Lyn Mark can't reach it as master
Dominico got his stick on it. Then he failed to
clear with help from Kukan and got the job done.
Then Kucannon couldn't handle it. Pass from the left wing wall.
Notre Dame picks it up and sends it down eight
five to go in the third, Wisconsin trailing five to one.
(01:41:26):
In the irregular season finale. Badgers have an exhibition game
next Sunday here against the national team development program, the
U eighteen team, and then off to the playoffs on
the road, maybe in Columbus or ann Arbor. Now Notre
Dame clears again as Wisconsin's Heinzler, the freshman stick handled
into the traffic in the offensive end.
Speaker 5 (01:41:46):
Yeah, he didn't have any opportunity to drop it to
have speed for the forward to come in.
Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
Here comes Finley with speed offensive zone stops hash Mark
forced to pass that ricochet to Tassie, spins it around
the left wing, now to Morrissey, head up and looking
Morrisey back behind the net. That pass too hot, to handle.
Gramma comes out of the net for an extra attacker.
Six on four advantage on the ice for the Badgers.
Right now needing four to tie. Borisse left wing at
(01:42:13):
the hash parks out to the point. Now dex Sheimer
swings at far side. Finley shot that it is teammate
Tassie and out to center Simon. Tassy is taking a
beating down there. Yes, dex Sheimer a head to Morrissey.
Saw now to Botterrel tries to settle it down centering pass.
Actually Rikoschet on the body of the goaltender, say who
kept it out of the net. Badger's unable to hold
(01:42:34):
the zone. Dex Sheimer at center ice, six point fifty
to go, only two nineteen left on the five minute
power play. Morrissey point man dex Sheimer right wing pass
for Tassi. Good stick by Fisher to deflect it to
the wall, taken away by Notre Dame.
Speaker 4 (01:42:47):
Here's a chance.
Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
Knuble fires it towards the empty net, missed it left
Dexheimer quickly after it again. Badger's out of power play,
no icing here's dex Seimer up the left wing, now
to Morrissey. Morrissey gains the line stops, fires it to
the far corner, hoping Kuchanan can get there first. He can't,
and Notre Dame clears.
Speaker 4 (01:43:05):
It all the way down it just wide left again.
Speaker 3 (01:43:09):
Won forty five to play on the power play for
the Badgers down five to one. Hensler ran into Janiky,
who took the puck away. Then lind Mark knocks him down.
That freed the biscuit for Morrissey and now Kuchanon peels
back in his own end. Six minutes left. Kukanan lost
the handle, but it slid through a couple of Irish
(01:43:29):
players all the way down to the Notre Dame zone.
Kuchanan then good check to free the puck for Pulata
Chuck now to the corner in Kuchanon won twenty to
go on the five minute power play. Here's Tyson Dick
at the dock left side. Pulata Chuck out high Hensler.
His shot hit lind Mark right in the button. Back
out to the point. Pulada. Chuck walks the line and
(01:43:50):
looks left wing Dick. He sets in fires blocked by Kumlin.
Now down low. Kuchanon had it knocked off his stick.
A minute to go on the power play Badgers down
five to one, five twenty five to go in the third,
slaggered after it tries to clear good hold by Hensler. Pensler,
with a puck right point, walks down to the right dot.
(01:44:10):
He'll fire one too high off the corner wall held
in by plata Chuck. He walks to the left dot.
Joe plata Chuck peels back to the boards. Now thirty
five seconds to go in the power play, Finley catches
slot shot low that didn't get through.
Speaker 4 (01:44:24):
Slagger's got it.
Speaker 3 (01:44:25):
He'll bump it all the way down and still power
play time remaining, Notre Dame can change its penalty killers
twenty five seconds left of the five minute power play.
Under five minutes left in the third, five to one
Notre Dame. Here's Morrissey now with speed left wing. Finley
lost the punk picked up by siling Off, and he'll
fire it more than one hundred feet down an empty
(01:44:47):
netter for syling Off. Six to one Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (01:44:53):
Turn over at the blue line when you've got a
two man advantage. That's kind of the cardinal sin of hockey,
to be honest with you. If you're gonna get stood
up at the boo line, dump it in and go
get it. That seems to be the issue for a
lot of it. But the goal will come at fifteen
sixteen and.
Speaker 3 (01:45:10):
An empty net, short headed goal for Grant silan Off,
and those that had not yet left are making their way.
Speaker 4 (01:45:21):
To the exits.
Speaker 3 (01:45:22):
Correct Grant silan Off his third goal this season at fifteen.
At sixteen, as Ian said, so the Badger's unable to
convert all that major spearing power play, and out of
the box comes Jogan Auks and he fires one right
on Grandma, who makes his first stop of the night.
(01:45:43):
Ivanovitch that time came right out of the box serving
that penalty to Nelson and high slot snapped one off
and Grandma made the stop.
Speaker 5 (01:45:54):
Wow, well it was a gamble yep. Sometimes you get burnt.
Nine minutes left in the game and you're down by four.
If you pull a goaltender, you get a five minute major.
Just couldn't pull the trigger tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:46:08):
Seven of the last eight games Badgers have lost, and
the games have been finished off by empty net goals.
Badgers win the defensive zone face off and we'll send
it in. Piela backs his way into Fisher freeze the
putt for Shoal tries to wrap it around, couldn't get
it through, and now out to center ice. It comes
(01:46:30):
in Western Knox playing with Piedla, Mellenbacher, Shoal, and now
Anthony Kerr comes back on the ice. Here's Western Knox
turn around, shot out Hi. It's rolling towards the netminder
and he'll cover his Shoal got knocked down right in
front of the cage and now Mellenbacker's shoving Fisher and
now Shoal needs to be separated. Piedal is tied up
(01:46:52):
with one of the fighting Irish. Are you going to
see a lot more of this?
Speaker 5 (01:46:56):
You're going to see a lot more of this here
in the last three minutes and fifty four seconds. So
they're just going to try and put it on net
and get garbage, and Notre Dame is not going to
let that happen.
Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
They're just going to start hammering people.
Speaker 3 (01:47:08):
We ha a change up front now, Lynn Mark out
with Tassie and Botteril. Both felt so good for the
Badgers last night, snapping that six game slide a seven
to three win, but here tonight nothing going whatsoever. So
after thinking all right, close the regular season strong, going
(01:47:29):
into the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:47:31):
Now the wheels are falling off the bus.
Speaker 3 (01:47:33):
Yeah, there's no doubt. It makes you wonder what's left
for this hockey team this season. Here's deak Seimer long
range shot blocked down in front, still loose, still loose,
and now taken by Larigan for Notre Dame with Jolvanovich.
Larigan will dump it in. Cara gives Chase backs his
way into Ivanovitch and lost the puck. But then Notre
(01:47:56):
Dame and turns it right back over and Simon Tassi
he tries to dump it in for himself. He'll beat
the Irish to the pucks on the icing pin against
the n boards. Botterill down there, Lynn Mark as well.
Three twenty to go. Here in the third, it's six
to one Notre Dame. Knox snaps off of pass Phalan.
Speaker 5 (01:48:11):
Hill fire a clapped the elected got blocked by Notre Dame,
sprawling out carpenter.
Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
Here's Tassy now to the point he goes and Knox.
It'll a head and shoulder fake getting around Larigan, stick
candles into the slot, chop the backhand pass it Mark
shot it just wide up.
Speaker 4 (01:48:27):
On the glove side of Say.
Speaker 3 (01:48:28):
Excellent play by Weston Knox creating Lotterill just got knocked
down in front of the net. Notre Dame sends it
out to center under three minutes to go here in.
Speaker 4 (01:48:37):
The third canoubal if the red line, We'll send it in.
Speaker 1 (01:48:45):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:48:45):
Disappointing Senior night for sure for Owen, Lynn Mark and
Anthony Kerr, Daniel Lotch, Cody Leskowski, Rylan Moseley, and Tommy
Scarfoni honored prior to the game tonight, but Notre Dame
jumped out to quick lead about five minutes in power
play goal at the end of the first period. Irish
(01:49:05):
up two nothing, then three to nothing midway through the
third before Anthony Kerr found the back of the net
on Senior Night his first goal of the year, But
nine seconds later Danny Nelson allowed Notre Dame to regain
the three goal advantage. A turnover in the Wisconsin zone
led to a five to one Notre Dame lead, and
(01:49:27):
then selling off a shorthanded empty netter as the Badgers
pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker during a five
minute major power play, and six to one is the
score here with a minute fifty to play. Mellen Bacher
Horbach and Shol on the ice right now, Shoal with
a steel low right walks and tries to stuff it,
(01:49:48):
say with a rebound Mellenbacher put it back in front
horback after it he got dragged down. No penalty call.
Mastro Dominico can't clear good hold by Phalan, but then
eventually knocked off his body out to center eye.
Speaker 5 (01:50:01):
And western. Knox refeeds the offensive zone. Badger's on side,
and Phalen is the first war checker. Yeah, your soul
now out to Knox thought about shooting. I'm not sure
what to do. Now, what's he going to do?
Speaker 3 (01:50:14):
What will he do? He fans it off? Now if
Falen left wing bumps it back to turn out fire.
Now we've got a little shenanigan's going on in front
of the Notre Dame net with Sawyer, Shoal and hunter Strand.
Speaker 4 (01:50:27):
And both of them I think will take a little time, yep,
to go to the penalty.
Speaker 6 (01:50:31):
Go.
Speaker 3 (01:50:31):
We'll go to their locker rooms respectively. Gool's going to
the locker room. It's Grant Stilonov who's going to do
the same for Notre Dame. Two minutes for cross checking,
ten minute misconduct for both coming at eighteen forty nine
of the third period.
Speaker 4 (01:50:48):
Of play.
Speaker 5 (01:50:51):
Well finished, like champions, don't get involved in the stuff,
I guess.
Speaker 4 (01:50:59):
Is the best way to put it.
Speaker 5 (01:51:01):
The pity stuff is just because you got the last
shot doesn't mean you're gonna, yeah, go away with anything.
Speaker 4 (01:51:07):
Victorious. Pela Mellamacker Bottrel with a lot of chuck and
care on the ice. Now.
Speaker 3 (01:51:14):
The line's been talking with one of the penalty box
attendants and they'll drop the fuck here. William Gramma working
in goal right now, visualizing.
Speaker 5 (01:51:28):
Whether not somebody in the each penalty box because they
while they kick both guys out, Yeah, but they're supposed
to be they're supposed to be in there.
Speaker 4 (01:51:35):
But a little bit of a delay here. With one
to eleven to play again.
Speaker 3 (01:51:41):
The Badgers have an exhibition game a week from tomorrow
against the under eighteen US Development Program. Ian Parrin and
I will call the game on the Badger Sports Network
at five point thirty, face off at six, and then
then the playoffs. Wisconsin again will finish in sixth place
in the Big and could end up going to ann Arbor,
(01:52:04):
could end up going to Columbus. We'll see in a
couple of weeks. Mellenbaker fans at a shot left wing
with under a minute to play. It's head out to
center ice and Anthony Kerr goes to get it BEYONDI
just up ended pilatachuck, but care got the past Mellenbacher.
Speaker 5 (01:52:20):
His head manned Botteril didn't connect. Now Notre Dame with
the biscuit, I'm just going to play keep away now.
Speaker 3 (01:52:27):
Well. This victory for Notre Dame will be career win
number five ninety nine for head coach Jeff Jackson. He's
ninth among Division one coaches all time, eighteenth among collegiate
men's hockey coaches all time, five hundred and ninety nine wins,
a couple of national championships with the Lake Superior States
(01:52:49):
four frozen fours here at Notre Dame, so one win
from six hundred and the Irish next weekend will host
Michigan State, while the Badgers get smoked at home tonight
by the fighting Irish six to one, the final score.
The regular season is over. Wisconsin finishes twelve nineteen and three,
seven sixteen.

of the season from Blake Bondi and Justin Jenikee five
to one Notre Dame at that point. Badrews got a
power play for five minutes after a major penalty to
Henry Nelson for spearing Simon Tassi, but the Badgers unable

in the second period, eight stops in the third, Badgers

Well, for the first time in my broadcasting career, I'm
going to give two stars to Notre Dame. Okay, Justin
Janicky was our number three star one goal, one assist,
and he just terrorized most of the Badger defenseman in
particular because of his speed and just skill around the net.
(01:59:34):
Number two star goes to Cole Knuble, one goal, one assist,
but goals at very opportune times when the Badger seemed
to be picking up the pressure. All of a sudden,
coal Kannuble comes down and gets a goal, and then
the next one he gets an assist on it. And
he is one powerful little young man who's got great hands.
The number one star goes to my hero, Anthony Kerr,

Speaker 4 (02:06:38):
O Wisconsin falls here tonight six to one.
Speaker 3 (02:06:41):
I hope to hear from head coach Mike Hastings in
just bits, let's get to scores from around the country.
I know Ian's heavy time trying to get his little
tablet to work so that he can get the scores
that he wants.
Speaker 4 (02:06:56):
But I think I got most of them.
Speaker 5 (02:06:58):
Ian.
Speaker 3 (02:06:59):
This was the late game I wanted to start with
the top rank Wisconsin women's hockey team back to back
six to one wins over Bimidge State to finish the
regular season thirty one wins, one loss, and two ties,
the most wins in a season before the playoffs that
Wisconsin women's hockey has ever recorded. Kirsten Simms had a
hat trick in four points, Lacy Eden a goal in
(02:07:21):
four points. Casey O'Brien three assists. O'Brien now with two
hundred and fifty nine career points, three shy of Hillary
Knights record set Geez almost twenty years ago. It seems
so the Wisconsin women, ranked number one, will get a
rematch with Bimigi State in the opening round of the
WCCHA playoffs, which start next Friday. Night, then Saturday afternoon
(02:07:43):
Sunday afternoon if necessary at Labon Arena. The Friday Saturday
games are sold out, but they will be on the
radio in Madison on AM ten to seventy wtso also
on the iHeartRadio app. We'll get to the Division one
scores when we have ants. But up next we're going
to hear from Wisconsin head coach Mike Hastings, who's kind
(02:08:04):
of enough to join us here on the postgame show
following Notre Dame's six to one win tonight. Well, Mike,
I know that wasn't how you wanted it to go.
For sure, that was disappointing your credit Notre Dame. But
from your perspective out there, what did you How would
you analyze your team's performance here tonight?
Speaker 2 (02:08:20):
Not good?
Speaker 33 (02:08:21):
Not good fellas, And you know what, we got behind
and just continued to dig the whole a little bit deeper.
Speaker 2 (02:08:28):
I thought our discipline caught up to us tonight. You know,
at the end of last night it poured over, and
it didn't it didn't end up going in the back
of our net.
Speaker 33 (02:08:36):
And I just thought we spent way too much time
killing penalties and having too few guys spending too much
time on the ice and not enough guys being on
the ice.
Speaker 2 (02:08:49):
As far as a whole, we weren't able to use
our depth, and it got away from us. Yeah, it was.
Speaker 4 (02:08:55):
It was too bad to see.
Speaker 5 (02:08:56):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:08:57):
It's an emotional night, it's senior night, it's the final
home game. There's a huge crowd here and not not
what I was expecting to see either. And I can
only imagine the disappointment that's in the locker room right now.
Somebody just unplugged the head coach.
Speaker 4 (02:09:14):
Oh, this could be.
Speaker 2 (02:09:15):
Tricky, guys, I lost you.
Speaker 4 (02:09:18):
Oh okay, you're hearing Mack? I can hear you?
Speaker 2 (02:09:21):
Yes, yeah, okay, now you hear me?
Speaker 4 (02:09:23):
Can you hear me? You got me?
Speaker 11 (02:09:25):
Or no?
Speaker 3 (02:09:26):
I think they unplugged the uh yeah, the listen back
for Mike. That's what it sounds like. Hello, Hello, you
got me?
Speaker 16 (02:09:34):
Mike?
Speaker 4 (02:09:34):
You know I could barely hear you hear me? Now
I go gotcha? Okay, go ahead. Well I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (02:09:39):
Just you know, young men put a lot of time
and effort into it. That's not been questioned at all
this season. I can only imagine the disappointment that they're
going through right now, and there after this emotional night
with a huge crowd and senior night.
Speaker 33 (02:09:51):
Oh you know what, there's Anthony Kerr showed his word
tonight and just went out there and laid everything on
the rink. And tonight wasn't a good night for us.
And it's disappointing because of the people that we're here
and to have it in that way for that group.
But the season's not over. We've got an opportunity to
turn the page and go into the playoffs and get
on the road and try and find a way to
(02:10:13):
win a couple of games and get into that second round.
Speaker 4 (02:10:15):
Yeah, this is quite a challenge though for your staff
and the young man, isn't it?
Speaker 2 (02:10:19):
Well, it is right now.
Speaker 33 (02:10:20):
I mean we you know, this is the year that
we have the draw as far as being off that
last weekend other than an exhibition game against the US team.
Speaker 2 (02:10:28):
And as you saw tonight, you and I have gone
through this.
Speaker 33 (02:10:31):
We've got some guys that are on the ir that
we're hoping to get healthy enough to be able to
come back and play in the first round of the
playoffs for US. So we're gonna have to manage our
week and get back after you know, really our focus
moving on trying to get as healthy as we can
through the exhibition game and get prepared for whoever we're
playing against in that first round.
Speaker 3 (02:10:51):
And while disappointed tonight yet another large crowd, the fans
have been great this season, trying to spur your club on.
Speaker 2 (02:10:57):
The fans have been unbelievable.
Speaker 33 (02:11:00):
I mean, you know, that's the one that kicks you
right in the shins, because you want to pay back
those that support you. And last night I thought we
did that, and tonight, as I said earlier, got away
from us.
Speaker 4 (02:11:10):
All right, Mike, thanks for coming out, and we'll talk
to you again next week.
Speaker 3 (02:11:13):
Thanks as sure. That's head coach Mike Hastings downstairs. Had
a little technical issue there is the Big ten network
was in town, and I have a feeling that somebody
unplugged his headsets so he couldn't hear our questions.
Speaker 4 (02:11:28):
But I think he was almost thankful.
Speaker 3 (02:11:29):
Yeah, well maybe so maybe so. Yeah, disappointing to say
the least. All right, let's go through the college scores here.
Division one non conference Stone Hill beat Long Island in
overtime two to one to split that series. In Alaska
finished off a sweep at Augustana winning five to three.
Hockey East second ranked Boston College of four to one
win it Vermont number nine BU beat Northeastern three to one.
(02:11:52):
Thirteenth ranked Lowell fell to Providence by the final score
of four to two. The Friars are ranked eighth ninth
in the country, eighth in the country this season. Also,
you mass a three to one win over New Hampshire
to finish off the Hockey East scores ECAC tonight, League
leading Quinnipiac shutout Brown four to nothing. Second place Clarkson
(02:12:14):
knocked off Colgate five to three. Cornell is six to
nothing shut out of Saint Lawrence, Dartmouth two Union one,
Harvard of three to two win over RPI, Yale and
Princeton two to two overtime time NC. I know you
were watching that Arizona State Western Michigan series. Western last
night lost to the sun Devils five to three, so
(02:12:35):
all of a sudden, Western Michigan's lead in the conference
was down to one point. But then tonight the Broncos
got a little payback.
Speaker 5 (02:12:44):
Yeah they did, and they'll get two of the three points.
It's four to three victory in overtime for Western Michigan
and the Broncos, and as I said, I would have
loved to have been at that game, especially because it
was played at Arizona right.
Speaker 4 (02:12:57):
By the way.
Speaker 3 (02:12:57):
Western Michigan has a three point lead on Arizona State
for first place in the NCCHC. The Broncos ranked third,
the Sun Devils ranked twelveth. Sixth ranked Denver beat Miami
five to two to finish off a sweep. The RedHawks
have now lost twenty two games in a row. They're
zero to twenty in league play. Saint Cloud State snapped
in eleven game winless streak with a four to two
(02:13:19):
home win over Colorado College. In North Dakota swept Duluth
with a six to one victory. CCHA. The McNaughton Cup
belongs to Luke Strand and the Minnesota State Mavericks. They
finished off the conference regular season championship with a four
to one win at Lake Superior State. Tonight, a second
place Bowling Green lost in overtime to BIMIGI two to one.
(02:13:40):
Farris States Ian. How about those bulldogs in your cousin
Drew Famulak getting it done in hoting against Michigan Tech.
Speaker 4 (02:13:48):
Yeah, and it's at Michigan Tech. That was the shocker
for me Yeah three to two.
Speaker 3 (02:13:52):
The final score there in Saint Thomas a four to
three win at Northern Michigan. Atlantic Hockey Bentley shut out
by Sacred Heart two to nothing. Niagara sixty two went
over Canisius Army three, American International two three to three
overtime tie with Air Force, and Robert Morris rit beat
Mercyhurst six to three, and in the Big Ten, Minnesota
(02:14:13):
is six to three, went over Ohio State two goals
by Connor Kerth and Michigan State lost at home to
Penn State three to two. Nitney Lyons scored twice in
the first two minutes, so Michigan State's loss and Minnesota's
win means the Gophers now leave the Big Ten with
forty six points. The Spartans have forty four. Ohio State
(02:14:34):
swept on the road, third place with forty. Michigan idol
this weekend has thirty two points in Penn State, which
is nine one to four in the calendar year twenty
twenty five thirty one points. Wisconsin has twenty seven and
sixth place. That's where the Badgers will finish Notre Dame
fourteen points. The Irish will finish in last place. So
(02:14:55):
we'll know next weekend by Friday, maybe but Saturday for
sure where Wisconsin will play in the first round of
the Big Ten tournament. It could be at Penn State,
could be at Michigan, could be at Ohio State, could
be really almost anywhere. Michigan State will close out the
regular season at Notre Dame, Minnesota will play at Penn State,
(02:15:16):
and Michigan will travel to Ohio State. Some good matchups
in Big Ten play next week. Been a lot on
the line for every team involved in next weekend's play.
And meaning that not just in the standings, and not
just pride of Ohio State versus Michigan all the rest
that kind of stuff. But every point counts so heavily
for homeice advantage. Every point counts so heavily for who
(02:15:40):
you're going to play in the first and or second round.
It's an important weekend for everybody except Badgers are not
playing right. I will clarify too where Michigan and Penn
State are are position right now, those two teams will
finish fourth and fifth one way or another. So the
way it looks is I look at the standings a
little more closely, so shortly after this result here and
(02:16:03):
what else happened tonight. Wisconsin could end up going to Columbus,
could end up going to East Lansing, and potentially Minnesota
that could still be in play. I know the Buckeyes
cannot win the conference championship during the regular season because
of they lost the tiebreaker to Minnesota, which has a
(02:16:24):
six point lead on the Buckeyes. Nevertheless, we'll find out
next week. Here are the Badgers followed to Notre Dame
six to one. Back in a moment. This is Badger
hockey from Lairfield, Hi Drew and Jonathan Scott.

Speaker 3 (02:18:32):
Wisconsin Women's basketball Senior Day here tomorrow. So once again
the Coal Center crew tearing down the boards around the
ice surface and putting the basketball court up here, just
like they did last night. For men's basketball this afternoon
against Oregon, the Ducks rally to beat the Badgers in overtime.
Here tonight, Wisconsin ends its regular season, losing to Notre
(02:18:53):
Dame by the final score of six to one. The
final stats here tonight Badgers again outshot their opponent thirty
two to twenty four IAN. That's been a common theme,
Wisconsin's allowing twenty five shots on goal per game, but
the say percentage of the goaltenders unfortunately last of the
Big Ten. And also I would I think that well
(02:19:17):
when I looked last night, ranked fifty fifth out of
sixty four Division One teams, that's obviously an issue, but
by scoring only one goal Wisconsin. That's the nineteenth the
twentieth time this season the Batchers have scored two goals
or less. They're one seventeen and two when they scored
two goals or less, and the only game they won
(02:19:37):
when they scored two or less was at Notre Dame
back in November. It's been a problem the puck not
going in the net and keeping it out.
Speaker 4 (02:19:44):
Of your own net. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:19:45):
I mean there's the formula winning for winning hockey right there.
Waiting or losing hockey. Don't score enough and score more
than they do. Let's let in more than they do.
But you know, you get into a situation where I
looked at tonight and you know, they pulled Scarfhoni. I
think it was just a matter of, you know, how
much can he get beat up? More than anything else,
(02:20:07):
because I really can't say that he was the blame
for any of the first four goals. A lot of
them were point blankers, a lot of them were rebounds,
he had made the initial save. Yeah, it's just a
tough bill to swallow for Tommy Scarfoni. Yeah. Quick, we
have to pause ten seconds for station identification, ten seconds
for a legal idea, you're listening to Wisconsin Badger hockey.
Speaker 3 (02:20:27):
So again Notre Dame the winner here tonight. Niko Yovanovich,
Justin Janicke, Cole Kanuble, Danny Nelson, Ian Murphy, Grant silanov
all lit the lamp for the Irish. Six shots on
goal for Nelson, He's a good one. Janicky with a
two point night, second straight night. Same with Cole Kannuble
is for Blake Beyondi and Michael Mastro, Dominico and Axel
(02:20:48):
Kumlin always say after getting pulled last night, stops thirty
one of thirty two shots. Tonight, he gets the winn
and improves his record to eight and fourteen. Notre Dame
now ten twenty one, one in one, four to seventeen
and one in conference play. I beg your pardon and
closes out the regular season at home against Michigan State
next weekend. The Badgers penalized nine times for twenty six minutes.
(02:21:12):
Notre Dame had nine penalties for thirty seven. But sixteen
penalties and two games ain't gonna win you much. The
Badgers zero for four on the power play. Notre Dame
was one for five here tonight. The lone goal scored
on Senior Night by fifth year defense been Anthony Kerr.
Quinn Finley had six shots on goal tonight rough night
for the captain Owen lyn Mark. He was minus three,
(02:21:34):
so was Rylan Moseley, who was plus three last night
while scoring two goals and four points. Tommy Scarfoni stopped
fifteen of twenty make that seventeen of twenty two shots
before leaving forty seven and a half minutes into the game.
William Gramma stopped the only shot he faced in nine
and a half minutes of play, but Scarfoni took the loss.
His record eleven fifteen and three. That's not true. His
(02:21:59):
record now ten fourteen and three. Wisconsin's record to end
the regular season twelve wins, nineteen losses, three ties, seven
sixteen and one, a sixth place finish in the Big Ten.
Took two hours and eleven minutes to play. Twelve nine
hundred and fifty nine paid to watch a Notre Dame
beat Wisconsin here tonight six to one. All right, Ian,
(02:22:22):
I know I'm gonna be watching hockey tomorrow. There's a
celebrity hockey game in Los Angeles. Skate for La Strong tomorrow.
Celebrity hockey game to raise money for wildfire relief. Tony
Grenado will play in it, Danny Heatley's going to play
in it. John Taff's daughter, Jenny Tapped of Fox is
going to play in it. Steve Carell, Justin Bieber, let's see,
(02:22:44):
Joe Mauer is going to be at Mark Messier, Jeremy Ronick,
Cammi Granado as well. And so that's tomorrow five o'clock
Central time on ESPN two to raise money for wildlife relief.
And the coaches include Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn On, Snoop Dogg,
and Al Michaels.
Speaker 4 (02:23:02):
I can hear Will Ferrell go, okay, we need more
cow bell?
Speaker 3 (02:23:07):
All right, So after feeling good last night, tonight not
so much. You know, you've been you coached for a
long time. How do you get this team to kind
of get refocused after you know, getting spanked at home
in the final final.
Speaker 5 (02:23:21):
I mean regular season get It's a tough scenario to
get involved with. And you're I mean, I'm sure that
all the coaching staff is going to be tossing and
turning tonight saying how can we be world beaters on
Friday night and get the world beat out of US
on Saturday night didn't change much in the lineup by
any stretch of the imagination, although they took the high
(02:23:43):
scoring defenseman, Zach Schulz, the out of the lineup. But
the fact of the matter being is that, you know,
it's pretty much the same people out on the ice,
and so did they except for one or two changes
in their lineup. What makes the difference between Friday night
and Saturday You just you just shake your head and
it takes a long time to try and figure it out,
(02:24:05):
and hopefully they have enough time to do that.
Speaker 3 (02:24:07):
All right, Ian, nice job, enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Adam Morrison at Learfield and jeff City, thank you so
much too. Thanks to all the fans for listening. Are
great sponsors as well. I'm Brian Posik saying so long everybody.
Once again, the final score here from the Cole Center
in Madison, Notre Dame six, Wisconsin, wand thanks for listening
to bad your hockey from Learfield.
Speaker 4 (02:24:28):
Oh Brah's buzzed.
Speaker 31 (02:24:29):

I just want to say that friendship is about heart,
heart and brain.
Speaker 20 (02:24:40):

brain is saying, when it's time to go home, do somebody.
Speaker 4 (02:24:47):
Call me a ride?
Speaker 9 (02:24:48):
