Hello ed, Welcome to Wisconsin Badger Women's hockey.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
We're out at Ritter Arena in Minneapolis tonight as the
Badgers get set to renew the border battle with the
Minnesota Golden Gophers for the sixth time this season. Tonight
is far more meaningful than most, however, as it's the
semifinals of the NCAA Tournament, with the winner earning a
spot in the championship game Sunday against the Ohio State
Buck Guys had a chance at the national championship. Thanks
so much for joining us tonight. My name is Zach
(01:05):
Seloff and Hall of Famer Paul Brown will be joined
by Mark green Hall in just a few minutes for
the call of the game. The Badgers were last in
action on Saturday against the Clarks and Golden Knights in
the NCAA Quarterfinals. Let's recap that game. In the final
game of the twenty twenty four to twenty twenty five season,
to be played at the Laban Arena, the Badgers faced
an unfamiliar opponent out of Potsdam, New York. The Clarks
and Golden Knights brought an impressive resume into Saturday's game
(01:27):
and had to defeat Boston University on Thursday in order
to earn their way into the game against the Badgers.
The first period, although favoring Wisconsin and shots on goal
fourteen to four, ended with Clark's in ahead one to
nothing thanks to a power play goal by captain Nicole
Gosling just five minutes into the period. Paul Brown said
at their mission that the game had an eerie feeling
and the crowd was definitely on edge as the Badgers
(01:48):
came out to start the second period without the league.
Things persisted in that state through the first half of
the second frame, but the Badgers build momentum throughout that time,
and the coal began to feel inevitable. When the dam
finally burst, it was defender Ava Murphy who got the tally.
Casey O'Brien was beneath the net found ave at the
left face off tout with a beautiful pass. Murphy then
hammered in a one timer, beating Clark's and goalie Holly
(02:09):
Gruber and tying the game at one with a little
over nine minutes to go in the second. Then, at
seventeen thirty seven in the second, Kelly Gorbatenko took a
pass from Cassie Hall across the blue line, falker way
past two clarks And defenders and roof to backhander passed
the glove of Gruber just after Clark's and penalty expired,
giving Wisconsin the lead that they would not relinquish. Leila
Edwards added a powerplay score in the third, and then
(02:30):
at the very end of regulation, it was Lacey Eden's
turn to get in on the fund. On a short
handed breakaway. She simply refused to be denied. She was
wrapped up around the midsection by one Clarkson defender and
then tripped by another, sliding into the boards without being
able to get a shot off, but as the net
was empty and the penalties impeded a genuine scoring opportunity,
Eden was awarded the goal and the Badgers defeated Clarkson
(02:52):
four to one to earn their spot here in the
Frozen Four. As big of a challenge as the Golden
Knights were, the Golden Gophers represent another level entire The
Badgers are currently on a nine game winning streak against Minnesota,
having last lost to them five to three in this
same building all the way back on December eighth of
twenty twenty three. They've won nine straight against the Gophers
since then, including five already this season, with the most
(03:13):
recent win being in the WCCHA Playoff finals, giving the
Badgers their tenth WCCHA postseason championship. However, as lopsided as
the series has been lately, these are two great teams
with great histories, which explains why the overall series record
is dead even at fifty seven, fifty seven and sixteen.
One way or another. When the final horn sounds tonight,
one team will not only have the all time series lead,
(03:35):
but will have earned an opportunity to play in the
finals on Sunday, at three pm for a chance at
the national title. Tonight is everything you want in a
hockey game. Two great clubs in Wisconsin and Minnesota with
all the history you can imagine, a great building here
in Ritter Arena, with a fantastic crowd and most importantly,
absolutely everything to battle over here in the frozen flour
It's Badgers Gophers coming up shortly here on Am ten seventy,
(03:58):
the game before the cuck drops, you've got an interview
with National Coach of the Year Mark Johnson. Stay tuned
for more Wisconsin, Danter and Women's Hockey presented by Goodman's
The Diamond Store of Madison.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Back on the pregame show Pall Brown with hockey coach
Mark Johnson, Mark, I know you don't like to talk
about these things, but I'm going to congratulate your fifth
time National Coach of the Year. Well deserved, well, thank
you appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
Had a good year and the team played really well.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
We'll talk a little bit about Ava McNaughton, who didn't
even make the number one goalie in the WCHA. Now
she's the national goaltender. That's quite attribute, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
It really is.
Speaker 6 (04:39):
You know, she had great experience last year in the
playoff run that we went on, and she took that
and continue to work last summer, got better and played
a lot of games obviously for US, won a lot
of games, and you know, she's deserving on that award.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
And you've had a couple of Patty Cosmi or goaltenders
that have picked up the honor Jesse Vetteran Desband's and
you start to look the way she's performing is she's
starting to look kind of in that category. She's played well.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
I mean, all you can do is ask your goalie
to give you a chance to win. She's done it
all season long, and hopefully she's got a couple of
aryl solid.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
Games in her and at this time of the year,
your goalie.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
Can be the difference maker, and certainly she's done that
for us all season.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
You mentioned Mark throughout the years that this year in
particular with Leyla Edwards and Harvey, you say they have
as much ability and all I got to do is
get rid of their own limitations and that kind of
thing is a able kind of starting to fit into
that category.
Speaker 5 (05:35):
Well, I mean it's a different position.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
It's a position that takes.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
A while to mature in it, and so you know,
you start the process and get the experience that she
did last year and get a different type of experience
this year with more games played, more minutes played, and
you know, her numbers indicate that, you know she's worthy
of winning the Best Goalie in the Country award, and
so you know, again it's it's what do I do
with that? So you know this summer, I got to
keep working. She'll get an experience with a Nash team
(06:00):
this spring, and so if she keeps working at it,
I only see improvements.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Mark.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
The freshmen have made great contributions this year. You've obviously
got a lot of talent, but overall, how would you
evaluate their performance? They're certainly helping out. It's been good.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
I mean, Maggie scored a big goal in the in.
Speaker 6 (06:17):
Our playoff game up in Duluth against Minnesota, and you know,
obviously the matchups become a little different as you get
late in the season. You can start getting involved with media,
timeouts and things like that. And so they've done well.
They've put a smile on their face, they've come to
practice every day, they worked hard, they've improved, and you know,
I'm excited to see down the stretch, run here these
(06:38):
last couple of games, and then more importantly, what they're
going to be able to do at the beginning of
next season.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
You mentioned when you have the TV timeouts and there's three,
I mean there's about ninety seconds that honestly can affect
what you do, doesn't it.
Speaker 6 (06:49):
It affects you know, both teams, and you know, depending
on if you have a deep roster you don't. You know,
the minutes get played with you know, your best players,
their minutes go up, and so it's a factor.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
And obviously it's part.
Speaker 6 (07:03):
Of what we do at the end of the season,
and so you know, you can utilize them to help
you or you know, it could be an advantage for
the other team. But you know, we get last line
change in this setting, and hopefully that's something that we
can work at.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
You talked about the stage is bigger the event. Just
go out and enjoy it and keep your emotions in tack.
It was funny walking around the hotel and stuff today.
I saw him making a video and apparently they even
watch Miracle on IIMs.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
Huh, yeah, whatever to do to relax and it's a
long day. We don't play many games at seven thirty starts,
and so you know, what do you do in between
when we practiced yesterday, we had a short skate this morning,
and what do you do all afternoon to make sure you're.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
Ready for tonight's game? And so little things like that
can be very helpful.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Mark, you've been through this many many times as a
player in the National Hockey League in college and now
as a coach and that kind of thing. What are
your sense about this environment? What do you feel going
into this semi final game?
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Well, it's exciting.
Speaker 6 (08:01):
I mean, you know, your one went away from the
National championship game, and you know, if my big thing
is is with my teams, try to get him to
relax and enjoy the moment and play our best hockey.
If we play up to our capabilities and we've played
played the way we've played all year, that gives a
chance to win. It doesn't guarantee it, but you know
that's what I'm looking for. You know, all our players
(08:22):
going and seeing what we've seen all season. If we
see that tonight, you know, obviously we have a chance
to win.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Would it be fair to say if you and I
were talking after the game was over, and you had
beaten the Gophers again. Number one, stay out of the
penalty box, I would think, number two, trying to get
the puck past the defense and that kind of thing
and win the one on one battles. How would that
be you should be coaching.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
You got them ready to hit the nail right and
in the head right there, and so especially early in
the game. You know, Minnesota's notorious for coming out, you know,
in the first seven or eight minutes and coming with
some energy and four check in your heart, So managing
the puck, don't get stuck at the blue lines, and
get it in deep and four check and see what
we can score first.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
I'll tell you what, though, the environment, the atmosphere, the
whole thing, Minnesota playing them in their own barn, doesn't
get any better than this, No it doesn't.
Speaker 6 (09:10):
I mean, you live for these moments, and these kids
have worked since the last July to put themselves in
this position.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
They've earned the right to be there.
Speaker 6 (09:16):
As I told them, they should be comfortable, they should
be confident because they've been kissing consistent all year.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
And I don't think you know, we're going to see
anything different tonight.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
You see them that way I do.
Speaker 6 (09:25):
Yeah, I certainly do, and so you know, it's an
exciting moment. Obviously, the crowd is going to have a
lot of energy both directions, and so who can handle
that and who can play up to their capabilities is
probably going to be the team that's going to execute
better and probably the team that's going to end up winning.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
All the best.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Thank you, welcome back. Everyone's ex seal off with you
at rid Arena in Minneapolis, joined now by Hall of
Famer Paul Brown as well as goalie coach Mark Greenhall.
Coach Greenhall, I want to go to you right away,
Paul asked coach Johnson during that pregame interview about Ava mccond. There.
She was awarded the eight see goals end of the
Year and one of the things coach Johnson is said
about K K. Harvey and the Edwards is that their
(10:02):
ceiling is as high as they want it to be.
Are you feeling the same way about your sophomore goaltender
that the sky is the limit for her?
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Yeah, she gives up working the way she gets.
Speaker 7 (10:13):
This year and she continues to make sure and progresses
a goaltender. Yeah, she's that done developing yet, she's still
on her way upward.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
That's really saying something because we were talking about this
kind of stats persas of the team, Sessi, Vetter and
hern A Abm and her. The only one who headed
her out in their second year was Dabm by point
oh two on goals against. Otherwise, Gaunton has better stats
in every in every category. Does she think of herself
in those turns and how does she think of herself
as a place?
Speaker 4 (10:41):
You know, I think she remains pretty objective about it.
Doesn't compare her shelf to a lot of others.
Speaker 7 (10:47):
Just has such high standards, high goals. It has the
work ethic to get herself here.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
That's outstanding.
Speaker 8 (10:53):
And as we love to hear the team's being introduced,
we've got a couple of mighty mites scaring the flags
we got and if Bucky out there, they were having
a bit of a fencing match at the start of
the game, Paul.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
You were saying, is we were getting on air here.
The fans have really filled in here about thirty four
hundred capacity here rit Arena, and there are not many
empty seats set.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Up puts on had for this one here. Tons n
see these falls and on show the line kids to
play the fis of our lage day.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
You couldn't be happier with it. And if you're the Baszards,
you've got to be pretty happy when you look out
at this crowd, awful lot of red and white house
no stands.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
There is for being at Rita Area.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
You're right, and we're gonna have the opening face off
coming up here.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
But us we're gonna have to playing in the shoal anthems.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
We'll be back. It's the floods and falls and Wisconsin,
we're back with the championship.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
After this time out, time of goal.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
This seven time NCAA champion Wisconsin Women's hockey is on
the air and.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
Wisconsin scores on the power play game Speed going down
the left wing.
Speaker 7 (12:11):
It just keeps driving the net bangle right up off
the crossbar.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
And now with the call of the game, here's the
Hall of Famer All Brawn on ten to seventy.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
The game, Good evening and welcome to Ritter Arena and
the Twin Cities is a cheval final game between the
six one and two unbeaten in their last twenty five games,
the Wisconsin Badgers taking on the Minnesota goal. The golfers playing.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
In their home rink.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
They are twenty nine, eleven and one as Wisconsin and
Minnesota will battle here and the winner will move on
to take on the Buckeyes of Ohio States for the
national champions chip of the Frozen Four Tournaments and Greeney.
It doesn't get any better than this, my friend, I tell.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
You, there's nowhere else that'd rather be than right here,
right now. This is wonderful. The atmosphere's electric.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Aba McNaughton in goal for the Wisconsin Badgers, Vivyan Jungles
and Caroline Harvey will open up.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
As the defensive.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Beair at the center spot the number.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
One line the player over the year.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
And women's college hockey Casey O'Brien. On her left, she'll
have Lacey Eden and on the right side Kirsten Simms.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
For the Gophers in Bowl, it's Hannah Clark.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Defensively, Premorano will be paired with Morrow and up front
it's Huber along with Abby Murphy and josephin boving and
Wisconsin will be skidding from our right to our left,
the Minnesota Golden Gophers from our left to Ryde and
(14:00):
it is a sellout crowd we have heard rumors about
tickets being sold for a couple hundred bucks. I don't
know if that's true or not, but i'll tell you.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
What you know for sure, Zach. I haven't seen for certain,
but I know this is the hot tickets to get
in town, and I think the National Championship will only
be hotter.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
And Ohio State did win this afternoon in their games,
so they move on to take on the winner of
this one, so it will be a WCCHA All final again, Greeney.
Speaker 7 (14:30):
Imagine that it happens quite a bit, doesn't It's gonna
stay out gay.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
As the Badgers getting ready to come out there awaiting
the official start of the game here, and this is
going to be.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
A noisy call.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
It's going to be a fun environment. The Badgers. They
were very relaxed today, seemingly around the hotel. Didn't you
sense that?
Speaker 7 (14:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (14:57):
I did.
Speaker 7 (14:58):
They're managing the state be loose, and I'm glad it
didn't just build up and get too tight.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Some of them watched the Olympic game from nineteen eighty
and apparently Mark Sam watching the game and he walked
by and he said.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Who won.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
That'll keep him loose, right, it's Hubert and the face
ops circle against O'Brian, who wins about sixty percent of
the face ops. Here. The Badger is anxious to get rolling.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Around.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
We're going to have this semi final game underway here,
the officials wedding and they're trying to get everybody set.
You think everybody's a little anxious here. You got that right,
O'Brien against Huber and the opening grass picked up. Minnesota
controls that it comes around over tomorrow on the right
(15:55):
side off in the past. The primoranos still back in
the Gopher zone. Tipped in over the Wisconsin line, broken
up there and Sims with it angled it off the
sidewall trying to hit O'Brien. It's going to be turned
back by Huber. Huber up the fire wing in over
the line of Wisconsin quickly out of the break. Harvey
(16:15):
with it will lead it ahead and trying to skate
it down, but a nicing will.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
Be called here in the opening period.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
In the first period of play, Wisconsin has scored forty
goals and allowed thirteen. The Minnesota has scored forty six
and allowed twenty seven. The Badgers lead the country in
five categories, including goals per game and the fewest goals
allowed per game, just a couple of them.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
They lead on the penalty, kill on.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
The power play, and in winning percentage around of the
far side. Harvey back in the Badger's own angles it
off on the lead and Wisconsin is going to change up.
Out comes another line for the Badgers that is Edwards
along with Hall and Gorbitenko lay down in behind Ava McNaughton,
(17:06):
the National goalie of the year, and it's going to
be picked up and with it Leila Edwards and that
pass got deflected back in on McNaughton.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
She put it away in the glove and stops the.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Player wise play for McConn Millankoba was seeking in for
Minnesota there to settle it down at the face off.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Yeah, we'll have the face off coming up to the
right side of ABA eighteen fifty nine, remitting in a
scoreless first period and with it as Murphy, Murphy and
Potter paired together defensively, Gorbatanko tried to pick it up
its center eyes knocked down the Milan Kobu of Minnesota
with it out with Connor and Wethington battors chase it
(17:48):
down and they move it in and the shot whin
wat of the goal comes around.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
On the play on the near side. Now the movie
it up Ice.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
It's Milan Kobu playing it down on the left wing
corner back in behind the Badger net comes out on
the break near boards. Wisconsin goes off on the pass.
Badgers go to Leila Edwards Layla, one of the three
candidates that will be in the presentation tomorrow for the
Patty Kazmier, Harvey and O'Brien. The other two laid back
(18:20):
down in the corner over to try and pick it up.
Eighteen oh seven or a medic in the period and
the play is going to come all the way back
down in the zone. Moro chases it down, being harassed
a little bit by per Card. They'll turn and come
on the wing. Abby Murphy is out with her line
mates now and they play it in over the line
to booming. They got moved and a Babby they got
(18:43):
the drive, but they got pushed off her stick. Badger's
turn and the Gophers trying to chase it down was
Navich with a four. Wisconsin off on the pass to
the blue line of the Gophers driven in the zone
over to pick it up as lighting in a Minnesota
Eden out to try and hold his zone with O'Brien
back over the sims. They tried to lead it through
(19:05):
and the play goes around the boards on the far side,
skating over to pick it up in Minnesota trying to
bring it out of their own zone, and Wisconsin comes
back in over the line shut down in the save
is made by Hannah Clark. Nice save there that.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
Was Eden was driving the right wing and had two
golfers fell downs. She got it, took it all the
way to the.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Net first shot.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
The herd came up with the save and change outcomes
Garbatanko again for the Wisconsin Badgers, with Cassie Hall and
Leyla Edwards back defensively. It's Vivian Jungles and on that
shift it's Kotlowski.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
Had a movie it up.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Ice played back down along the boards on the near side.
Minnesota back over the control with it as Graham Graham
around on the far side and Christ with it played
it in over the line and down in the corner
the d of this Lindsay Lindsay on the far side
back to the point for Minnesota. At the point there
was parkin and who played it around to the right,
(20:07):
goes back down. They come back to the point on
the near side. The fans are chanting, let's go rad
here Dad coming back over to try and pick it
up in the neutral zone in front of the bench
areas it's going to be controlled with it is him
camp around on the far side of the play, Minnesota
losing control of the puck, knocked down to buy parking in.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Badger's turn it around.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Here's Eden comes ur the shot by Enright along the
boards on the far side. Enright is out with Pericardon.
Waznevitch turned away by Wesfington, tried to lead it to Connor,
trailing as Primorano when they dump it down in behind McNaughton.
We have sixteen oh three remaining in the first period.
(20:52):
Shots are two to nothing. N Right trying to skate
it down, trying to beat Primorano to the puck.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
Badger set it up on the.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Near side, wants Nevich circling driving it toward the goal
and the pad save and the raybound is going to
be played back of the death trying to chase it down.
His moral on the right wing on the far side
on the play, they give it off over to Lindsey,
turning it up vice Minnesota through center eyes. Golfer's break
and them Wisconsin controls the puck. Murphy states in over
(21:22):
the line, controlling it. Shot steered off the stick there
of Hannah Clark the goaltender play in the court and
Eden digs it out on the play they control it
to Sims down in the corner. Sims on the play
over the O'Brien. O'Brien turned right out in front and
down goes Eden. Puck came loose. Badgers control it. They'll
(21:43):
work the wing on the near side and O'Brien with
a drive and that was blocked on a stick. Good
pressure on the part of Wisconsin. Five shots up Minnesota
with none. We're scoreless with it as Sims backing it
up through neutral on the play over the O'Brien, who drives.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
It back down in behind.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Moro cutted off around moving picks it up, goes up
the far wing, weaving her way through center eyes, comes
in over the Wisconsin line on the wing, drove.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
It in on McNaughton and she made this ser.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
During that play, Abby Murphy was deep at the Badger
blue line, but the Badger's defense was marking her. They
had fallen back and were tracking her, not allowing her
to cherry pick on that breakout.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
Fourteen thirty eight remaining here and we'll have the ice
being resurfaced. We'll take a thirty second break. This is
Wisconsin Badger Women's hockey. Sean preebowl back into studios of
ten to seventy to the game, Zach self, Mark green Hall,
(22:45):
and your's truly Paul Brown here at Ritter Arena.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
We're at fourteen thirty eight remaining of.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
A scoreless first period and Wisconsin's got five shots up
on the board, Minnesota with one. But it's a score
lest game here. Graining your thoughts on the first five.
Speaker 7 (23:04):
Minutes or so, Well, it looked like a few shifts
at the very beginning, both teams trying to get settled
down and get in some groove. And I saw a
little momentum with that last group with O'Brien, Sims and
Eden out there. They had a real nice shift, created
a few opportunities. So things are starting to come into
sync a little bit. But yeah, you got to pay
(23:24):
attention to fuck and one thing to note behind the
net at this rink. It's about two feet narrow or
behind the net to the end wall than it is
like at Lebon, So.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
That player is critical there.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
I think we've got a discussion. They're taking a look
at something.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
They said Wisconsin's challenging potentially for too many skaters.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
Oh okay, so there is for that potential advantage here
early in the game, anything you can get. What do
you guys think of Ohio State today?
Speaker 7 (23:55):
I thought that the poor checked hard, and I don't
think Cornell was used to that.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
Yeah, you know, very.
Speaker 7 (24:00):
Aggressive port check ineffective, and I think the speed was
a little more than Cornell was used to. That's just
an observation. I thought I had Cornell was a good
club though, no doubt. What'd you see, Zach?
Speaker 2 (24:11):
I liked that second period when Cornell came back. You
could tell how much their hearts were in it. They
were not gonna just lay down for Ohio State. But
I think, like coach Greenhal said, Ohio States didn't have
the edgene speed. In the third period, you started to
see Cornell wear out. I think that's how the Buck
guys were able to pull away.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
The officials. They're still looking at it here at Rita Arena.
The Badgers unbeaten in their last twenty five games. You know,
with all of the awards that Wisconsin has gotten, they
kind of forgot about the fact that, hey, they're unbeaten
in their last twenty five games.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
They won eleven games in a row.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
They started the season by winning twelve and that kind
of thing. But it's been a tremendous year, obviously with
only the one loss so far. But to finish off
what has been a tremendous season, they need.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
To win it, don't they. Yeah, Yeah, evening.
Speaker 7 (25:00):
Less to be you know, a disappointment kind of after
a crew and all those like you just said, statistics
and achievement during me none of it means any more
than to win this thing at the end.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Well, and you've been around for a number of the
ones that the Badgers have won. Huh. Badgers have seven
NCAA Frozen Four championships. That's the number one in the
country in terms of total victories. They've been to the
Frozen four or sixteen appearances they've made. They're tied with
(25:31):
Minnesota for the league there. And they've been to the
NCAA Tournament for twelve consecutive years. So the success that
Mark Johnson has had has and the Badgers has been.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Very, very high.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
And I think we're getting an explanation now because the
officials did take several looks.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
At it here. Yeah, they got help. And Tish O'Brien
are there talking to the officials at Nutral.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Ice, speaking of Casey O'Brien. At eleven thirty tomorrow here
in the Twin Cities, they'll have the presentation for the
Patty Katzmeyer Award winner, and for only.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
The second time in the history of the.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
League, it is all they may have got the call.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
They may have got the call. Do you guys see
it that way too?
Speaker 7 (26:21):
Looking at the reaction of the team and the bench here,
I believe you're right.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Minnesota had three of the Patty Kazmier finalists back in
the year when they were forty one to zero.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
The referee just indicated it's an elbowing call. That was
and I believe it's Abby Murphy and we had talked
about she's the most penalized player in D one women's hockey,
thirty seven penalties on the season. Now you can make
it thirty eight. As the Patgers look at a two
minute power play here an elbowing call against number eighteen
Abby Murphy.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
Wow, yes, you know she wouldn't have to do that.
Speaker 7 (26:54):
She's such a good player, but that's just part of
her makeup as well.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
When you live on the had, sometimes you fall over,
and it's happened to her more than a few this season.
And in fact, they've listed it as a five minute
major penalty.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Hoy, wow, what an advantage four Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Wow, five minute penalty and shea me, I didn't see
it actually happened. Do you know who she elbowed?
Speaker 2 (27:22):
I have to admit I didn't see it either. It
was after the stoppage when Wisconsin challenge take a look
at this lineup.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
What an opportunity here for the Badgers.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Five minutes and they lead the nation.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
The power play with thirty six power play goals on
the ear they're converting on thirty six percent, leading the
way on the power play and Wisconsin with an opportunity.
Sims Is out on the ice with a drive, and
it just trickled. Why of eating Badgers hold it in?
Leyla Edwards is out, O'Brien is out, sims Is out,
(27:58):
Eden and Potter on the power play they could get
a couple here, but first let's get hopefully get one.
Sammy Gavin go around over to O'Brien. O'Brien back out
on top over the Potter drove. It went one of
the goal back over the sims behind the that edwards
back to the point. On the play over to O'Brien.
They move it in sevens with a shot and the
(28:20):
save is made by Hannah Clark.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
Nice glove staved by Clark. There is Sims let a
risk a goal from the high slot.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Both teams are going to change up the next power
play that's going to come out for Wisconsin. Potter stays
along with Corbett tanco on on the ice. Jungles is
coming out, Ava Murphy is coming out Bezoff coming up
to the left side of Hannah Clark back in the
Gopher zone. Four twenty one remaining on the power play
(28:50):
advantage over the Jungles at center eyes. On the play
over the Wavera Murphy Passey hall with it. Gophers force
him to go all the way back in their own zone.
Gorbatanco tried to pick it up. Minnesota plays it in
the Wisconsin' zone. Badger's come back through center eyes Aba
Murphy comes in over the line to pluck it, offers
(29:11):
stick back to center ice again. Minnesota doing a nice
job on the penalty kill. Here here's Jungles carries it
in and flips it down in the corner, rolls in
behind the nap, backed around the boards at the point
Ava Murphy tried to pick it up and it went
out of the rink, and we'll have a stoppage of play.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Almost a neutral zone trap style from the Minnesota Gophers there.
They had all four of their players up in center
ice working hard to keep them from getting into the zone.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Yeah, face off coming up to the right side of
Mannah Clark O'Brien, we'll try.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
To win the face off.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Lazy Eden and Edwards are out and it's Sims at
Harvey at the points Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Turns and they'll drive it back in center ice. Set
up again.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Buy Wisconsin three point thirty men in the power play
the five minute call Edwards with it at neutral ized.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
Boy, would this be a huge lift for the Gophers
if they could kill this off.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Banged around the boards and they'll drive it all the
way back down to the Badger's own. Minnesota crowd appreciating
the efforts and the penalty kills so far. The Gophers
try to work it, but the Badgers come in over
the line, off on the wing and with it as O'Brien.
The pass went through the skates out Sims, Harvey setting
(30:30):
it up back out on top. This is Sims with
it back to Eden with a drive and it went
wide of the goal off on the left side. It's
O'Brien back out on top, over the Harvey Harvey. Little
given go to O'Brien in traffic. It's Minnesota trying to
clear it out and the puck is going to be
played along the boards near side Wisconsin. Edwards with it
(30:52):
edwards back to the point on the left side, over
to O'Brien, back out on top, over.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
The Sims, back over to O'Brien.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
They go lowe back over to the laylan, Edwards out
on top with it as Harvey. Harvey with a drive
and that went wanted the mark. We're down to two
twenty five. Reminting on the five minute call controlling it.
Here's O'Brien trying to slide it in the slot. Heavy
traffic in front of the nap and it's going to
be cleared away by Weffington Badgers trying to hold the
(31:21):
zone and they do.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
I'm by Harvey keeping the wind and it goes back down.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
They've worked off three minutes of the five minute penalties.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
Still man advantage.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Wisconsin Sims with it back over to Edwards, back over
the Gorba tanko just shot it a little high and wide.
Comes back on the play, Badgers setting it up with
it as O'Brien. O'Brien acrossed over the Sims. They got
scandal on the ice. Back around on the play, back
over the Potter. Potter back out on.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Top over the Sims.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Sims with a puck just inside the blue line over
the Gorba Tankle with a drive and we're down to
one thirty four remaining in the penalty time. It's going
to be taken away by Milling Pobu and the Minnesota
clears it. The Gopher crowd appreciating the efforts on the
five minute penalty short situation. Badgers come out of their
(32:12):
own zone. They work it in over the line, control
a good gurba Tankle take it away by Potter. Ten
fifty reminting in the first period and Potter back manning
of the head and the Gophers are worked it down
to just about a minute remaining in the power play it.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
They dump it back down.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
To the Badger's zone. McNaughton, we'll cut it off. We're
at fifty five seconds remitting ring on the five minute call.
Badgers come out of their own zone. They flip it
in over the line, trying to work it in toward
the front of the NAT. Gophers bang it around off
the boards and we'll clear it. Wisconsin holds it in
(32:53):
and they move it in a little give and go.
They try to go to Rosnevitch from Picard back on
on top. It' vnusio back on the play over to
Murphy Murphy with a drive and they'll set it up
behind the app and Murphy controls it back out on
top over the venusio. Bonusio back and the drive by
(33:13):
Murphy over the end, right back out on top. Murphy
comes around of the play over the venusio just inside
the blue line, and Wisconsin's going to run out of
time in five seconds. They look to set it up,
shot blocked, went behind the app. Badgers hold the zone,
but Minnesota kills off up five minute penalty. Listen to
(33:37):
their people, free hate some environment for that, and it's
going to be played back.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Down of the corner.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
The crowd is really appreciative of the penalty killing unit
of the Gophers. We remain scoreless and the Badgers come
through center Ez turn back into the line with it
as Minnesota and moving with a drive and that went
into the glove and we'll.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Have a stoppage of play.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Impression penalty killed on the part of Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
Yeah, they did a real race job there, killed off
by minute and.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
We'll be back.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
This is Wisconsin Badgers women's hockey.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
We're packet rid of arena in the Twin Cities along
with Zaxie Loft and Tom green and Paul and Paul
Brown and Greeney. Nobody said it was gonna be easy, huh.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
You know, whoever comes out of this one's really good
after it.
Speaker 7 (34:34):
Yeah, it's that was evidence of it there. The way
they killed off that five minute penalty. They did a
real lafe job.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
We created a few chances that couldn't put the fucking
the net.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
You know, you think about it in a way where
the Badgers have won nine straight games against Minnesota, that's
got to be in the crop. All of the golfers
the coaching staff and the players. The series all time
is a match in that kind of thing.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
There are two quality teams and they.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Gotta be going, and you know what, we need to
this thing, and we got a chance in our own.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
Building and to move into the championship game. Oh, I'm
sure they've discussed that in that fashion exactly.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Beison coming up to the right side of Ava mcnony
back in the zone of Wisconsin in a scoreless game.
Shots are nine to one and we are still scoreless,
and there's a tropic saved by a McNaughton there round
over to Waznevitch picking it up and moving through neutral.
Jungles or O'Brien comes in over the line, lost control
(35:36):
of the pocket's going to be turned away. Sims is
out and the golfers dump it back down in behind.
Vivian Jungles is out in the ice grew up here
in the Twin Cities, played for Redna. Now of moving
it up Ice, eating with it back, canning it in
over the blue of Minnesota. They pick it up on
the far side, turning with it as Graham slides it
(35:59):
back a little deeper as they go to parking and
they work the head on the plate of Booving, Booving
on a little given Gold shot it off the glass
in behind the that Gophers set it up.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
Then they move it in.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
There's a shot right on, but McNaughton with to save
against Morrow.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
One last thing to point out about that five minute penalty.
Not a single stoppings during the five minute penalty time.
We played straight through from beginning to end.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Yeah, that's incredible. Eight eighteen remaining here, up and down action.
I guess that's what everybody expected between these two teams.
Leyla Edwards around on the far side. Layla plays it
out over the center ice in the neutral zone. Leila
coming in over the line patrolling it and she couldn't
(36:47):
get off the back enderr and slid into the goal.
Action continues around on the far side, Edwards down in
the corner, picked up by McCarthy and Wisconsin working at
They go towards center ice and it's going to be
dumped back in the Badger's zone. Potter back over to
pick it out. Potter controls and they'll work it through
(37:09):
center hit. A scoreless game here between the Minnesota and
Wisconsin nine to three now in shots, Wethington and over
the Wisconsin line down on the left wing corner for
the Gophers back out on top. There was a shot
by Lightoning, but it was played away. McCarthy at the
blue line of the Badgers tried to pick it out.
(37:31):
Wisconsin works it through neutral and they back ended on
the left side. Was Nevitch chasing it down, tind to
take it away from Lightoning and Abby Murphy is out
on the play. They move it ahead, coming in over
the line trying to get off the shot. Was Milankoba
take it away backed in over the line per cardon
was Nevitch forced the play. The Gophers in their own
(37:53):
zone shuffle it out of the right side over to
Abby Murphy who played it to center ice and the
Badgers was Nevitch dumps it down deep in behind and
per Card on the far boards in the corner went down.
The Gophers play at the center ice. Here's Abby Murphy
lost control of the pot, banged around the boards as
(38:13):
Wisconsin turning trying to come out of their own zone.
They'll set it up on the far side. They'll drive
it up the boards and control it and the play
just inside the blue line over to O'Brien eden is
there Sims takes a look. Harvey's out on the ice
with jungles and it's played around on the near side
that comes to sitting Morow and Moro plays it in
(38:37):
over the Wisconsin line and the lead to boobing Wisconsin circles.
They turn and they fire it out of the break
coming up ice, center of the line on the far side.
Eden and O'Brien a little play there. They try to
set it up to the break into the net, turn
back coming up Pisce Sin over the line, control it
it camp and there's a drive and abe and it
(39:00):
came off the boards.
Speaker 4 (39:01):
Behind the app and the pace is very shot. The girl.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
It's been a soon.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
It takes the lead on a one to nothing play.
Speaker 9 (39:13):
And they get a goal coming up with five forty
six remaining in the first period, and it's gonna go
to hamp for sixteenth.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Go over the here.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Minnesota got two really lucky bounces on that play and
the first shot went high straight over the cage, came
right back off the glass over the top of the
cage again gave him an opportunity to circle it round
to the short side and get the score.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
Yeah, it's worked on that live dwall that you have
here in not much space behind.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
The let.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
Man fast action. Here had a one nothing game.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
Our first Dome of Puss season fifteen. Rattle the far
shide over the try and control.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
Its Lucy.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
Thirteen, Chris fourteen fourteen, Chris fourteen fourteen, and we'll set
it up in control coming back over and it's in
on Eva and play is going to be stopped there.
(40:35):
So him with the sixteenth goal of the year. Lindsay
gets one of six that Price gets in a city
and the Gophers with the even strength goal and at
one to nothing leads shots are nine to six, five
(40:56):
point twenty nine, remainting in the first period and coming
up ice controlling it, comes in over the line, controlling
it down in the corner with it as scannal scandal
around on the far side, back to Venusio. At the
point Venusio plays it off over on the far side,
it's Leley Edwards. She goes down to Minnesota banks it
off the boards and it's going to be picked up
(41:19):
by Connor. Connor on the lead over the Weffington comes
in over the line and the pad saved kicked away
by Ava Murphy up to far side it's Gorbatenko to
the blue line of Minnesota, fired it and change up
coming out Asnevitch and Mince play.
Speaker 4 (41:37):
It's going to be stopped here. With four point fifty
two remitting in the period.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
A lot of extracurriculars away from the puck, a couple
of crossjacks, a couple of shoves into the board. It's
a very physical game early here.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
Yeah, he's gonna sit down somebody here, I think, or no,
we just gotta they're.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
Going to resurface again. We'll take our last break of
the period. This is Wisconsin Badger women's hockey.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
Yeah, Ritter Arena, where it's well not the Gophers.
Speaker 3 (42:09):
With four point fifty two remitting in the first period,
shots are ten to seven favor of the Badgers. The
saves are ten to six favor of the Gophers. Wisconsin
over one on the power play. Face offs are seven
and six the Golphers.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
With the edge. We'll have the face off.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
Get it up back to the Minnesota zone around of
the far side. At the point Harvey holds it in,
plays it back in behind, picked up what per card
is out of the ice was Nevig and it's going
to be jungles with it, shuffles it around of the
far side in the neutral zone. Minnesota and the Badgers
(42:50):
try to get possession of the puck. Wisconsin's per card
will skate out of the zone, controlling it. She moves
it through Neutrals plays it in over the line on
the plate to Waznevich back over in its per card
down in the corner on the wing. They try to
go to the point. Badgers will drive it back down
in and Minnesota will go back in behind their own goal.
(43:14):
Hannah Clark in the net tonight for Minnesota brink white.
It comes to the near side and Minnesota will turn
and Abby Murphy drives it down in behind the net
of Wisconsin. Minnesota trying to maintain possession of the puck
in the zone. Eden with it turned and slides it out.
O'Brien and Simms out on the forward line turned back
(43:36):
by him Camp on the far wing and lost control
of it. As the Badgers try to play it ahead
with Eden and O'Brien and they worked it off the sidewall,
but Moro intercepted comes around on the play. Bad Minnesota
trying to slide it out, skating up ice with it
is Lindsay, Lindsay, nice move comes in over the line,
(43:57):
lost control of the pot and they're going to call
up penalty.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Yep. They're going to get the Badgers for hooking.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
Yeah, and that's penalty comes at sixteen thirty four the
into the period.
Speaker 7 (44:12):
If they're going to put Potter in the box, I'm
not sure here, but that's what it appears.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
To be at this point.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
So Minnesota will go on the power play with a
one to nothing lead, a Murphy in the penalty box yep,
and the Gophers on the power play, they're right behind Wisconsin.
They've scored thirty five power play goals in one hundred
and nineteen attempts. Are at the boves twenty nine point
four per seven, and the Gophers will come out on
(44:43):
the ice and the primorano is out.
Speaker 4 (44:47):
Abby Murphy is out. Abby is their catalyst.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
She's got thirty three goals and leads the country this
year sixty five points points in thirty one of the
games they've played on the far side over to try
and control it, and Minnesota will set it up for
they come around and there's a drop one the goal
over to pick it up and Wisconsin comes through center ice,
(45:12):
whether it is O'Brien, O'Brien on the far boards over
trying to control it.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
It's going to be taken away.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
Ad played back down in the corner, going back in
behind Minnesota trying to set it up in the power
play shots from ten to seven in the game and
the score won nothing. Badgers clear it out of their
own zone. Whether it is O'Brien comes in over the
Minnesota line, drops it to you.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Everts shot.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Laylight Edwards on the past and Edwards gets her thirty
second goal of the air and West comes in his time.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
The game had one bond.
Speaker 4 (45:53):
Go ahead, go ahead?
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Yeah sorry. You see Leila Edwards lurking at the top
of the circle, the drop pass and facie O'Brien and
she goes bar downs just a gorgeous sun. We see
the replay here. Edwards oping trags past one player, gets
it over the glove outstanding hard.
Speaker 3 (46:09):
Risting from the right, poison high slot area up beautiful
goals after that drop past Labryat while like John Layla
sixty first assists of the year, Brian a shorthanded goal,
bad Wisconsin has tied the game. Is this funner way
(46:30):
ole Man a little bit of everything here today ball
two point thirty remaining in the first period. Minnesota comes
in over the line and it's going to be played
in the center ice area. Back over to set it up.
Band control Jersey's sixteen to fifteen and play coming back
over to Washing heavy Childer trying to control it.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
Wash Nevich holds it in.
Speaker 3 (46:53):
The zone, back in behind Minnesota setting it up two
o eight reminting in the period. They slide it out
on the brake. Gophers come through center ice, badger line
Wisconsin tournaments and Flair fires it back down, enlightening back
of it to pick it up. We have one one
here in the first period, moving it up Ice controlling it,
(47:17):
coming in over the Wisconsin line. Abby Murphy with it
back out on top. Pass intended for a Morrow doesn't connect.
Gophers gotta go all the way back. We look at
the clock and see one thirty five remaining in the
first period. Moro will skate through center Rice controls the
puck plated on the left wing. Nobody home.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
Brimorano couldn't knock it down.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
All right, build it off and going back over, trying
to set it up and control. Both teams now at
full strength coming up ice in a hurry, coming in
over the line with it.
Speaker 4 (47:53):
As Huber Badgers take that away.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
They'll move it up with these.
Speaker 3 (47:59):
Jungles who backhands and around in behind. Then at around
the boards on the play on the near side over
the try and control it played back in behind the
app and controlling it four Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (48:13):
The Gophers come up the boards on the near side.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
They have seven defense drafted for this game here and
going back is Parking in to set it up. Parking
and Graham are paired defensively and with it is Graham
and the far side on the breakout, they turn and
try to go to christ add thirty two seconds remaining,
and we'll have an nice and called in the face
off coming up back in the Gopher zone.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
Boy oh boy, the next hear.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
This is a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Yes, it is some fast playing by both teams.
Speaker 3 (48:49):
Then Harvey got an assist on that last goal as well,
and for her her forty third assist to the year.
And it's going to be played now with twenty five
seconds are minting in the period and Gorbat tankle right
out in front, Eden trying to skate down haul over
(49:12):
to try and help out eaton to hold his own.
They work hard along the boards. Twelve seconds are minting
in the period. Could they get one more shot out
of this? Maybe a possible, trying to kick it loose
down to six seconds are minting along the far side.
It's going to be turned away and with it, Lindsey,
that's going to do it. One one here that brineral arena.
(49:35):
After one, your thought.
Speaker 4 (49:36):
Screaming, Wow, I'll tell you you can't afford to make
him a thing. Everybody's pressing hard today. You know you
gotta heard it. We'll be back. This is Wisconsin Badgers
women's hockey.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
Welcome back everyone. After the first period, the Badgers are
tied with the Minnesota Golden Gophers to one. An extremely exciting,
fast paced period. Minnesota got the first score and even
strength tally at fourteen forty fourteen fourteen. Excuse me. In
the first Cayden Hemp their captain, with assists from Ava,
Lindsay and Emma Price, getting that score. They got a
(50:16):
killer bounce off the back glass, fired a shot very high.
It hit the back glass and came straight back over
the cage and out in front. They were able to
play it around, circle it through the crease and get
one on the short side to get the score. But
then after Ava Murphy was called for hooking at sixteen
thirty six, the Badgers stayed pationed as ever on their
power excuse me, on their penalty kill saw their opportunity
(50:38):
and took it. Casey O'Brien brought the puck forward. Laila
Edwards was trailing her as they entered the zone. O'Brien
executed a perfect drop pass to Edwards, who toe dragged
around the defender into the high slot and buried one
bar down shot it right off the bottom of the
crossbar to get a short handed goal at seventeen fifteen
to get the Badgers back even at one to one,
(50:59):
the second assist on that one going to Carolyn Harvey.
Eleven shots for Wisconsin, seven for Minnesota. A very very
close game, the team two very very good teams at
elbowing penalty at five point twenty two in the first
period a major Companye against Abby Murphy. There was some
discussion about whether that should have been five in a game.
It was apparently quite waite aggressive. We'll see if we
(51:21):
can get a replay for you and get you more
information on that. But as it stands, we've got forty
minutes to play. It's got a brand new game for it.
It's Badgers one. Gophers won out here in the NCAA
SEVENTI Finals. The winner will play on Sunday at three
pm against Ohio State for the national Championship.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
We've got an.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
Interview with AJ Harrison, the sports information director for women's hockey,
coming up and more on the Inniision show. This is
Wisconsin Badger Women's Hockey on AM ten seventy. The game.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
And we're back in Reta Arena along with Zach three Long,
Tom Greenhall, I'm Paul Brown the Golfership. Come on on
to the ices. We're about ready to get underway with
the second period. I quickly would like to say it
thank you to everybody throughout the season that has contributed
to Goals for a Cure for Alzheimer's. We had a
(52:13):
twenty thousand dollars match going and we're at about thirty
four thousand, and we would appreciate it if if people
are so inclined, we've got time yet, just go to
Goals for Acure dot org and thank you in advance
for any contribution that you may give. One hundred percent
(52:36):
of the proceeds go to the Wisconsin Initiative to end Alzheimer's.
They're underway in the second period and both teams begin
it at full strength. Back with it, jungles around on
the far side Badgers. O'Brien carries it in over the blowline,
played down in the corner. Eden is out on this
line the right wing for left wing, and it's going
(52:59):
to be play back along the boards, Minnesota turning, trying
to come out of their own zone. They come up
the near boards moving with it. Addie drove it and
went up and we'll have a stoppage of play. You know,
that's pretty neat that people have contributed it. Yeah, one
hundred percent of the proceeds going to research and hopefully
finding a cure for that devastating disease. Goals for eight
(53:24):
here dot org. If you get twenty, it means it's
forty and we're six thousand away. It'd be great to
accomplish that. Bas Off coming up to the right side,
back down on the zone of the Badgers, around over
to Harvey turning. Gorbatanko is out along with Howard and
Hall and or Edwards.
Speaker 4 (53:45):
They're out on the far side. Laila got her thirty
second goal of the year. Dad.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
Wisconsin tied the game late at seventeen fifteen of the
first period, moving with it comes in over the line,
checked by Potter.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
You can't get off the shot.
Speaker 4 (54:01):
Yeah, nice job there.
Speaker 3 (54:02):
And a drive and the blockers save off the pad
and the Badger's turn and out they come control to
get at center ice, they go to Leila Edwards comes
into the line with.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
A drive and it came off the back wall.
Speaker 3 (54:16):
The Badgers try to maintain possession of the punk or batank,
are working hard to force it loose. Play comes to
the point Aba Murphy holds it in with help from
Hall haul the Edwards shot right on in the save
by their goaltender Hannah Clark.
Speaker 7 (54:35):
Anytime the pucks on Leila Edwards forehead, I want to
see a shot that was a good place.
Speaker 4 (54:42):
Dad.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
We'll have the face off coming up now. Back in
the zone of Minnesota. Shots are twelve to eight in
the game Wisconsin with the edge there but a tie
at one one and the play in the circles set
up and ride with a drive that was pushed what
round on the far side, trying to control it in
(55:03):
Minnesota trying to bring it out. Graham's out defensively turning
and coming up Ice controlling it. Badgers take it away.
They move it around over the Waznavitch Wasnavich and the
near circle fire to wide of the goal. Binusio picks
up the rebound at the point, comes around of the
play over the potter.
Speaker 4 (55:21):
They work it down in the corner, put cart over
to try and pick it up.
Speaker 3 (55:25):
Down she goes along the board. Adam Minnesota turns it out.
They come through center Ice Price with it, blaze it
back down in the zone of Wisconsin. Badger's back in
behind the net and it's poop checked away by McNaughton.
Back to the point on the play. Minnesota and Wisconsin
(55:46):
both at full strength around the boards over to wenright
and right turn try to bring it out and the
play is held into Minnesota controlling it.
Speaker 4 (55:55):
Pulling up.
Speaker 3 (55:55):
There's a drive almost tipped by Connor and play comes
up Ice was nevitture Wisconsin through the neutral zone, get
over the Minnesota blueline, drives it in behind that rolls
around to the near corner.
Speaker 4 (56:09):
Deep in the zone. O'Brien tries to pick it up.
Sims is there.
Speaker 3 (56:14):
The Wisconsin Badgers work behind it that O'Brien spins, controls
it back to Harvey. Harvey shut kk. Harvey gets the
gold for the Wisconson Badgers are seventeenth for the year
and Wiscotson lads it turn along.
Speaker 2 (56:35):
Something Carolyn Harvey does so well. Is it just the
the least point of her shot. She's getting pressured by
Ima Connor there, does just a little pull back inside,
leaves Connor and her dust and rips it to the
glove side. Beautiful play to open herself up and then
release a color shot here.
Speaker 4 (56:51):
That kid got a lot on that one. The heart
wrists it just under the bar on the pass to
O'Brien laid back on the corner back of the try
and pick it up.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
Sims around on the far side, controlling it play down
deep in the zone in the corner. O'Brien got one
of the assisted and Sims got another one two fifty
two the second period, Badgers laid it two to one
over the Minnesota Golden Gophers around over to O'Brien had
(57:27):
sent her eyes controls it. O'Brien picking up a little
head of steams gates in of the line. She leaves
the country in whole points with eighty five around on
the far side. The offensive player of the year in
the WCCHA sims with it, works it along the back wall,
(57:47):
trying to pick it.
Speaker 2 (57:48):
Up with Eden.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
Wisconsin tried to hold the zone. Gophers sweep it out
and they control it. Play at left wing blue line
of the Badgers. Wow, Gorbatankel had a collision there, whistle
and action is going to be stopped.
Speaker 4 (58:02):
To pick a stick ex Quella threw out of somebody's hand.
There was cred a collision there.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
They collision. That's set the blue line there in an
easton off sides call against Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (58:11):
Yeah, forty six.
Speaker 3 (58:14):
The assists of the year for Sim's sixty second assists
of the year, second of the night for O'Brien. Harvey
with it on the play on the lead over the
gorbat tangle, plays it down in the corner. Harvey with
her seventeenth goal of the year, top scoring defensive person
in the WCHA and coming up through center ice, Harvey
(58:39):
with it turns and drives it down to the ice.
Whistle and play will be stopped. Harvey one of the
three finalists for the Patty Kasmyer Leila Edwards one of
the three, and of course O'Brien one of the three.
All three of them. It's only happens twice in the history.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
Of the WCHA.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
That was about twenty six years ago when Minnesota went
forty one and oher on their season.
Speaker 4 (59:05):
They had all three of.
Speaker 3 (59:06):
Them turning and coming back up Ice controlling it. Here's
Leila Edwards up the line over the Hall, moving it
in shot block by the goaltender guy set up Wisconsin.
They've turned it up a notch. Here a little bit,
Dan haul with it back door. Leila Edwards with a
dry I love seeing it down there, boy, she.
Speaker 4 (59:26):
Loves being down there near that goal line.
Speaker 7 (59:29):
Give me the puck right hand runner off when angle went,
you know, like Covetchkin on the power play.
Speaker 2 (59:36):
That entry with Edwards, Hall and Dorbatenko absolutely beautiful and
they just ran out of space. But Yell was this
close to sliding it over the Gorbatenko had nothing but
empty not to look at.
Speaker 4 (59:47):
Oh, I know they're moving the puck.
Speaker 3 (59:49):
Burcard is going to try and win the face off,
and right is out and wasting Avig four Wisconsin, and
the play goes behind the out of Minnesota and the Gophers.
We'll work it up ice in a two to one lead.
Wisconsin Hotter with it. Potter is harassed a little bit
there by Milan Kobu and the plague. The Golphers try
(01:00:10):
to control it. Milan Kovu on the right side, back
to the point in the play, and they were working
around on the near side.
Speaker 4 (01:00:18):
Tried to go right out in front.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
As they almost tipped it in front of the goal,
slapping their stick on the ice, trying to move in.
The Golphers looking at control it and with it is
en right on the break over the Watznevitch move it
up ice with Picard two on two playing the neutral zone.
Speaker 4 (01:00:35):
The Minnesota has it with it, Milan Kobu with a drive.
Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Why boy, The paces back and forth here in the
second area and everybody giving it.
Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
They're all here in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
Christ with it moves in shot. Ava McNaughton covered up.
Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
And made this air.
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
We're going to take a break. This is Wisconsin Badgers
women's hockey. We're back here at Ritter Arena in the
Twin Cities. And Tom Greenhaw was just saying that elbow
by Abby Murphy that was a bad one, Huh.
Speaker 7 (01:01:15):
Yeah, I saw the video and I thank goodness that
you know, Harvey's still in the game.
Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
It should have been a game DQ five. In a
game DQ.
Speaker 7 (01:01:24):
It was pretty blatant. She actually started to leave her
feet to elbow uh, you know, Harvey in the head.
Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
And it was bad. It was dangerous. It's just what
you don't want anybody to have happened to him. Well,
and apparently off ice.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
You know, they know one another obviously from competitions, and
KK had say I like her as a person.
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
But when they get to the game time, all all
of that's gone, All bets are off.
Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:01:50):
Yeah, that was an evil play. Very Uh you know,
I don't know, you don't want to see it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:58):
Well KK kind of stung him, maybe, Yeah, yep. We've
got a face off coming up from Jungles and they
try to work it up as out of play fourteen
fifteen remaining in the second period. Shots are fifteen to
ten in the game. Wisconsin trailed one to nothing in
(01:02:21):
the first period, but now they've scored two goals in
a row by two of the Patty Kasmier finalists that
will be awarded here in the Twin Cities tomorrow and
it will be broadcast live on the National Hockey League
Network at eleven thirty rout of the far side, turning
and the play comes all the way back down on
(01:02:42):
the zone of Minnesota. Gophers go back over to set
it up Primorano and they'll work it out of the break.
The Gophers coming through center ice moving, Huber and Murphy
are out and I've got s Murphy coming in over
the line. Nice drop pass, little given goal or they
tried one pass too many the uber yep then moving
(01:03:04):
it up Ice coming in over the line. Here's a
Sims with it down in the corner. Tried the center
it to O'Brien in front of that. It's held in
by Jungles. They're out of the play over to Harvey.
Harvey with it with a shot that's block. Harvey got
it back, angled it off the sidewall and the Gophers
bump it back to the Badger line.
Speaker 4 (01:03:23):
Harvey is waiting there on the plate to Eden.
Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
Eden's gate center of the line, drops it over to
Sims on the far side, Minnesota turning and they'll play
it up Ice intercepted by Jungles. Jungles will flip it
down in the far corner and Moros goes back over
to pick it up for Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (01:03:42):
As the Gophers try to bring it out of their
own zone.
Speaker 3 (01:03:45):
Leyla Edwards out of the ice back over the gore,
but Tenko tried to play it to the point to
Layla Edwards got to back it out to neutral, clear
the zone and the Gophers break it up and they'll
shoot it down in on Ava McNaughton.
Speaker 4 (01:03:59):
She swept, did it with the glove in the crease
and stopped to play.
Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
Continues to be a very physical game out there, big
hits delivered in center ice, a lot of pushing and shoving.
I don't think we're done with the penalty box in
this game.
Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
I would agree with you there, Zad, you know, and
you love to play, you know. But he still wanted
to be getting hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
And Wisconsin trying to get it out of their own
zone where it is. Hamp Hamp has the goal of
the game for the Gophers, her sixteenth of the year
and playing it around over to Venusio. Venusio is tought
up in the corner, but she bangs it around the boards.
It's blocked there. As Minnesota tries to hold the zone.
(01:04:42):
Franco had the puck played it back in behind Wisconsin
turning and Venusio will fire it behind, comes around on
the break Wisconsin out to center Ice. The lead de
Laylea Edwards couldn't knock it down and turning it, flipping
it in as Franco back goes Venusio around the Fords
Milankovo of Minnesota moving it in shot deep and it
(01:05:06):
went wide held in controlled again and there's a shot
deflected wide off. Parking in on the far wing trying
to control it and Ruffington lost control of it. The
Badgers out towards center Rice looking to pick it up
and they'll drive it in and Aba McNaughton dives out
and makes.
Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
This say, people don't have to let hard there.
Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
Leila Edwards took exception of Wellington's hard drive at the
end there, let her know that she didn't appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
Yeah, And coming out as Harvey Potter is out of
the ice, per Card is out was Nevitch and end
right for the Badgers. Minnesota will counter with their number
one line of moving Huber and Murphy back defensively. It's
parkin in and Graham and Wisconsin trying to take it
(01:05:58):
away from Abby Murphy fired wat of the goal and
it's going to be held in by Parking and they
work it to the point to booving, moving, slides it
back down in the corner intended for parking in. Badgers,
Harvey and parking In and Babby Murphy all tried to
control it, kicked out and brought out by waznevitch os
Nevi changled it off the boards, striding down on the corner,
(01:06:20):
picked up her own pass with that great acceleration back
ont on top on the playover the potter.
Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
Potter works it down in the corner.
Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
We have a two to one game, Wisconsin out in
front with eleven minutes remitting in the second period. Back
in behind the net is Eden, Eden right out in front.
It almost deflected it on their role gender. Clark around
on the far side, Eden down on the corner. Eden
with it goes behind the net on the wrap around,
(01:06:50):
but it's turned away by Clark.
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
You love to see that hustle from Wasnevis the pass
to herself. That's the kind of thing she does for
this team. Gets you opportunity where it doesn't seem like
that is one gives them an offensive chance.
Speaker 3 (01:07:03):
Yes, with or speed alone creates that opportunity, Minnesota will
change up.
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
Potter is out with Jungles.
Speaker 3 (01:07:11):
It's each come off with O'Brien and Zims for the backers,
and the play is going to be set up and
with it as Jungles Jungles on the far side, but
the Gophers will dump it down the far boards and
chasing it back goes Potter of Wisconsin and an icing
will be called. In the last four games, one thing
(01:07:33):
coach loves to see the fifteen different players on this
team have scored a goal in the last four games.
Speaker 4 (01:07:42):
It's lacency contributions from so many players. Here is around
on the far side.
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
We're nearing the halfway mark of the game, Wisconsin with
a one goal lead. That ain't going to be enough
probably for round of the far side with the total
of two up on the board. Backing of the line,
here comes Eden from the play Shim Sam skips for
the Wisconsin back twenty third goal of the year and
(01:08:11):
Wisconsin legen three to one.
Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
That's the tustment this coaching staff has made. They move
Leila Edwards to the second line, bo Lacy Eaton up
to the first line. It's changed things up at and
altered the dynamic and you see there the effort from
eating the killer passed to Sims, and Simms does what
maybe she wasn't doing at the start of the season.
Speaker 4 (01:08:30):
Which is pulled the sugar. You know, yeup outstanding, You're right,
what a great slayer. That great goal up high by
Shim's got a wrist of the off wing.
Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
First goal for Sims in four games, and it's going
to be played back now. You got a little two
goal pressure anyway. I just want to see people keep shooting.
Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
Yeah, you know what I mean. I'm seeing we can
beat this play. You know, she's a freshman and it's
going to be set up and the batters moving.
Speaker 3 (01:09:03):
Around back up the Harveys. Harvey teetered off ws deflected
off her stick, Kristin Sims with the assist going to
Eden and also Vivian Jungles picking up an assist on
that goal. All right, so Wisconsin one, two three, we
want more. Booming comes in over the line, shut the
(01:09:25):
goal by booming. It sort of comes right back and
Proving gets the goal and cuts the lead to three
to two. For Booming her thirteenth.
Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
Goal of the year.
Speaker 7 (01:09:40):
Boy, some guy hard on us left wing and got
herself the little room and beaten eight on alongside.
Speaker 4 (01:09:49):
Glove sides her lol.
Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
Very nice entry by booming and just like Sims, she
loves to just pull the trigger. Doesn't make that second
pass right, She's able to get a past it.
Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
What an entertaining game the fans are seeing here at
Rita Arena.
Speaker 4 (01:10:08):
You're like kidding back in.
Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
Behind that nine Centsory Manning, then around on the fore side,
trying to control it, moving it up, Ice controlling it,
and it's played around the boards on the far boards.
Speaker 4 (01:10:24):
Minnesota turns they're down by a goal.
Speaker 3 (01:10:28):
Come of that Pice hit up of the Wisconsin line
with it as Huber Badger's turn, and they tried to
play it away. Minnesota back out on top Lindsey with
the drive in traffic, the puck came loose back. Canna
gets down to ZeVA McNaughton and beneath her lives the park.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Minnesota is doing a great job of getting bodies in front.
They have traffic in front of Ava mcconton's and it
feels dangerous when they start taking shots from.
Speaker 4 (01:10:55):
The slot like that. Oh yeah, getting boy, tell you
it's tough to see that buck. I'm amazed David was
able to sid He's covered up to rebound.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
We'll take a break. This is Wisconsin Badgers Women's hockey
and and we're back here at Rita Arena along with
(01:11:32):
Zach Cleelf and Markreenall.
Speaker 4 (01:11:34):
I'm prol Brown. Are you guys enjoying this? On board?
Does a cat at five and gear? This is fantastic hockey.
Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
I'll go you outstanding game so far, the three two
the best teams in the country.
Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
I'm coming around over to pick it up, and it's
around on the far side over the with Brian turning
back to center ice. It's going to be broken up
and controlled with it. Lindsey I to advance the puck.
Lindsay blocks and knocks it down, tries to hold the
zone around on the play.
Speaker 2 (01:12:06):
Over to Eden, eating back over to Harvey.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
Coming out on the play and Sims picked it up,
carries it in over the line, moving it through Eden
with a drive and they went into the.
Speaker 4 (01:12:17):
Glove of Clark. I play nice pass, bing bing right there. Yeah, yeah,
some good pass it all the way.
Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Up the ice there, Kirsten Simms. I do not know
how she slides this pass through. There are three gophers
that Lee Heard and Lacy Eden. Somehow she finds eating
on the right way and Votama circle takes a nice shot.
Good stuff by Clark to keep it on the back.
Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
Amazing bas Off coming up now to the left side
of Hannah Clark and coming over to try and control
it and to play in the neutral zone. Back over
to try and set it up with it is Potter.
Potter is tied up and she kicked it around on
the far side. Leila Edwards cut it up ice Layla's
got a goal, Harvey's got a goal. Sims and Gorba
(01:12:59):
tankle fires and right on.
Speaker 7 (01:13:02):
There's another one. I'd like to see her just hit
the net man, you know, grbel pull the trigger if you.
Speaker 4 (01:13:06):
Got a shot on your forehead.
Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
Gorbo has got eight points in her last ten games.
To did score in her last game. The one that's
truly impressive is O'Brien. In her last ten games, she's
got twenty six points.
Speaker 7 (01:13:22):
Unreal, unselted player that worked, hired in then skilled Pith of.
Speaker 3 (01:13:28):
Obviously face off coming up to the right side back
in the Minnesota zone at it's going to be set
up and controlled, jungles with it fired at high and
wide of the goal played down in the corner, trying
to control that play. We're at eighteen to fifteen in shots,
three to two of the score, seven forty nine remaining,
(01:13:51):
and we've got to check in the corner. Is it
going to be a power play?
Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
I believe soul.
Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
The Gophers are going to the penalty. Wisconsin will get
the advantage.
Speaker 4 (01:14:02):
Here, see who they're going to sit out here?
Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
Yep up against the wall and put his shoulder in
and it's going to be Ella Hubert number twenty.
Speaker 10 (01:14:11):
Six okays checking cross checking the call on huberlve fourteen
the time of the penalty.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
Here in period number two, Badgers are let in power
play goals scoring.
Speaker 4 (01:14:28):
Yeah that when the replay it was a bad one
against the wall.
Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
To Eden leads the Badgers with eight power play goals,
Layla Edwards has seven.
Speaker 4 (01:14:38):
Harvey has six.
Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
Top three players on the power play with thirty six
power play goals. On the ear and the way comes
back over to Harvey at the point Dan Harvey slides
it around over to Sims.
Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
Sim's back on on top to Harvey.
Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
That doesn't work for Layla as KK go back over
to pick it up on the play and coming through
center ice with it is O'Brien and Simms and Eden,
Leila Edwards, Anne Harvey out.
Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
On the ice, somebody playing without a stick.
Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
They get it back around on the far side over
the KK Harvey between the dots. That goes around over
to Sims and O'Brien gibbing go to Laila right on
in front in the huh slot. It's going to be
cleared away on the set up and Wisconsin comes through
neutral controlling the puck in of the line. Badwards off
(01:15:34):
and they try to move it in shot that looked
like it hit partially the side of the net. O'Brien
down in the corner. Laylea Edwards is there and they
let him play along the boards. They got about five
six players that are going after the puck, trying to
dig a little there. O'Brien is jamming at it, trying
to work it out of there. Eden takes a look
(01:15:55):
Leyla Edwards there take it away, Eden, Dad. They try
to play it with a sort of back along the
back wall. The Gophers turn back over to Harvey out
in front, over to Sims. Shute.
Speaker 4 (01:16:07):
Oh, she looked like she had in the corner of me.
Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
I thought she did too, and there's a check against
Sims and maybe no penalty call there. Letting them play
around on the far side Wisconsin back in of the
line and it's going to be picked up by Sims
holding to O'Brien in front of the neat round over
the layla Edwards. They try to play it back over
to the point Minnesota one on one that come in
(01:16:31):
over the line.
Speaker 4 (01:16:32):
And Harvey took it away.
Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
Oh what a play. She took it right off the
stick of Hubert man around of the Market's unbelievable the
way she could play.
Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
Huh yeah, she's stick Milli pold, I think it was
the puck.
Speaker 3 (01:16:47):
Just a great play and coming back to set it up,
Harvey turn tried to play it back. We have five
thirty remitting in the second period, Wisconsin leading at three
to two. Moving it up ice here's all along with
Scanal in over the line, all down in the corner.
Tried to centerate to Gorbatanko, cleared by christ on the
(01:17:08):
far side on the turn to Huber who brings it
out from Minnesota to Lindsey who played in over the
Badger line. Katlowski knocks that down. Turn tried to play
it ahead and with it is VENUSI O I did
and was tipped in over the line. Minnesota's forced to
go back and regroup. They come out of the zone.
They're at center ice controlling it in over the blue
(01:17:31):
line of Wisconsin with it as Moro. Moro turns comes
on the play, but the Badger's turn that away back
goes per Card, Pericard and Watznevitch come in over the line.
Pericard tried to center it to was Nevig whistle. That
action's going to be stopped. With four forty remaining in
the second period.
Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
They drive to the net there by Picard.
Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
We're gonna take a break again. This is Wisconsin Badgers
Women's hockey back at Ritter Arena on the campus of
the University of Minnesota here in the Twin Cities area.
This semi final game of the women's Rogues.
Speaker 4 (01:18:15):
In four We have four forty remitting in the second period.
Speaker 3 (01:18:20):

with Sconson with twenty one Scott Minnesota with sixteen. The
winner of this game. On Sunday at three o'can here
at Ritter will play the Buckeyes of Ohio State for
the national title.
Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
I want to take a second to highlight Samrian Pacard
who had that last drive. Also the Badgers nominee for
the Jackie Robinson Community an Impact Award, and that's that.
Today they call our Pico heck of a volunteer in
the community as well as a heck of a hockey player.
Speaker 4 (01:18:51):
Just a great young lady all the way around.
Speaker 3 (01:18:53):
Based off coming over to pick it up and controlling
it for Ronald the far side Badgers, there's a lot
of is.
Speaker 4 (01:19:00):
That block off Clark, Yeah, right off of for like
a sand ball.
Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
Around on the far side, Minnesota turning, trying to bring
it out, moving it up ice in the neutral zone.
Badgers break that up. We'll still and play. It's got
to be stopped.
Speaker 4 (01:19:13):
Mark. How do you see the second period in relation
to the first any difference here? Well, I think we're you.
Speaker 7 (01:19:19):
Know, it's just nice to see us get some shots
on net. You know, I think we're not overpassing as
much as we were in the first period and get
into the net.
Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
That's what we got to do. Buber is out for
Minnesota moving and Abby Murphy on that line. Abby Murphy
paired off with Sims over there, neither one of those
too it back down. I'll tell you that right now
we're out of the far side. Can try to control
it as Potter breaking it out on the wing with
(01:19:50):
it as Eden. Eden goes to Sims one touch on
the pass and carried down in behind the out of Wisconsin.
They try to go to Eden in front of the
net breaking, but it's Potter driving it back down in
the corner. Rolls back down in the corner. Minnesota back
over to set it up pre Mrano defensively for the Gophers,
(01:20:10):
tries to play it ahead. Badgers give it to O'Brien.
O'Brien lost it tomorrow. O'Brien chips it back on the
plate of Murphy's. Wisconsin tries to.
Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
Head man it.
Speaker 4 (01:20:20):
They give it to Edwards.
Speaker 3 (01:20:22):
Edward's trying to put a move there on Morrow and
they both go into the corner and the Gophers will
set it up to come out of their own zone.
Pre Morana with a fuck along the far side, coming
back over to Sims. Sims pulls up but Senaer who
whoa that pass? Look out booming movie it in perfect
had it swept off the stick there of booming back
(01:20:45):
around on the play on the far side, held in
by lightening and Wisconsin sims of going to pick it up,
played it off the sidewall. Gophers by the penalty box
area on the far side will dump it back into
Wisconsin zone. Ab A Murphy with it slides it out
on the brake in front. Edwards along with Gorbatanco coming
(01:21:06):
through center ice. Minnesota carried in over the line by
Weffington Rappington behind the net, centered it right out in front,
comes back to the point. Gophers look to set it
up and control on the far side of Milan Kobu
with it. Lan Kobu around the far side. Wisconsin will
turn and play it out over to Laila Edwards. Layla
(01:21:29):
with it controls it fires at rink. Wat on the
play intended for Hall Hall State center of the line, shot.
Speaker 4 (01:21:35):
It into the glove ub Hannah Clark.
Speaker 7 (01:21:39):
That's all right, I'll take that play. Shot on net,
make that goalie field the puck.
Speaker 4 (01:21:44):
You make it a rebound.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
Two twenty seven Ory menning in the second period. Here
capacity crowd at Ritter Arena in the Twin Cities. This
is where the women play their hockey and right next
door is of course, where the guys play Cheerina Yep,
nice facility here. We'll have the face off coming up
back in the zone of the Gophers, and the draw's
(01:22:10):
got to be played. Minnesota works it around the boards
on the near side at Harvey with it at center,
Ice drives it back in over the line. Graham goes
back of it to set that up. Graham controls it.
Minnesota down by a goal. Shots are twenty two to
sixteen in the game, and jungles with it, try to
advance it. Harvey on the lead, gives it off over
(01:22:32):
to watch Navidge show the cover up break away by
watch David yep, turned away by Clark.
Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
You are not going to chase downswe what'st it? From behind?
When she gets a fullhead of Steve Bill create zhoffs
to get into the slots. He actually beats the defender,
gets the nextra step on it, puts a nice shot
on that that speed.
Speaker 4 (01:22:52):
Gets to that separation. Great shot, that great save by Clark.
Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
Dad will have the face off coming up now back
in the zone of the Minnesota on the play along
the board's near side. Badgers came up with three consecutive
goals in this game after being down one to nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:23:13):
Moving get in along on the far side.
Speaker 3 (01:23:16):
It looked like O'Brien may have had an opportunity but
couldn't get that shot off, and back goes the Gophers
in behind their own net, Freemorano around and they angle
it off the boards, knocked down on the neutral zone.
Jungles gives it on the drop pass over to Harvey,
and Wisconsin works it back into the line, skating it
(01:23:36):
down as Moro Moro with it round the boards on
the near wing. As Wisconsin tried to pick it up,
but through neutral the Gophers controlled it.
Speaker 4 (01:23:46):
O'Brien took it.
Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
Away on the plate to Eton, eating over the Harvey
shot right on sad down shot and we'll stay out.
Speaker 4 (01:23:55):
I am not sure why that didn't go in. Harvey
me to save and then rebound.
Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
I don't know what kept it out.
Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
Of the net on Harvey and she hit the inside
of the post down. Oh, no way, and it's going
to be played back on the far side.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
Fifty six seconds are minute, Minnesota comes in on the
wrap around Harvey and it's gonna be hit. Oh, there's
a penalty gonna be called. As Harvey's gonna go and
the Murphy is down. That's the one that elbowed right
(01:24:32):
Harvey earlier.
Speaker 7 (01:24:33):
You know, not that you should retaliate, but you can
understand how she feels that way.
Speaker 4 (01:24:41):
Man. So Murphy for the Golphers is still review this one. Yeah, yeah,
we'll see what happens here and there and the replay.
I don't know if we're going to even put it
up there.
Speaker 2 (01:24:55):
I might not.
Speaker 4 (01:24:57):
And recapping this game here, well, they she's up on
her knees. She's take a good actor.
Speaker 7 (01:25:06):
Too, but she took a blow there, so I'm not
going to say that about her here is don't want
to see anybody get hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:25:13):
Minnesota took a one to nothing late at fourteen fourteen
of the first period, not a goal that was scored
by him. Him gets her sixteenth goal of the year.
Then at seventeen fifteen of the first period, Leila Edwards
gets her thirty second goal of the season, and that's
where we stood one one after one before raw and
(01:25:40):
two fifty two of the period, Harvey got her seventeenth
goal of the era nine forty two, Sims got her
twenty third goal of the air and then Minnesota countered
at ten twenty seven of the period as Moving got.
Speaker 4 (01:25:56):
Her thirteen or yes, her thirteenth goal of the year.
Speaker 2 (01:25:59):
That's where we stand as I look down here at
the Minnesota bench, coach Brad Frost having a discussion with
the referee. I think he may be challenging this, just
like the Badgers did early in the game. It was
a big shot up against the boards.
Speaker 4 (01:26:14):
No, I don't think you're gonna go You are correct,
pardon me, Jack.
Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
Yeah, we're right next to the ESPN folks here, and
I looked over at their monitor and okay, she's looking
at Harvey's looking at Murphy's numbers. If she comes in
and delivers a pretty decent shot. So I don't know
if they'll upgraded to a major or not. It was
hard for me to see with detail, but definitely a
big hit up against the wall.
Speaker 3 (01:26:43):
This comes with under a minute remaining here in the
second period. Well, they've already had a five minute advantage
earlier in this game. Could be a devastating situation here, Mark, Yeah,
she would Ada. That's a hopefully it remains it two minutes.
I'm glad to see Murphy appears to be okay for
(01:27:06):
the Golders.
Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
The officials are still looking at it here. Yeah, there again.
It gives us an opportunity to remind.
Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
Everybody we're at thirty four thousand of the forty we
had hoped to raise for Alzheimer's research, one hundred percent
of the money going to the institute to work against
Alzheimer's and the ADRC that's the Alzheimer's Dementia Research Center
at the hospital. And we came into the game with
(01:27:38):
about thirty four thousand dollars go to goals for ecure
dot org.
Speaker 4 (01:27:45):
If you'd like to.
Speaker 3 (01:27:45):
Donate whatever amount would be greatly appreciated, Thank you very much,
and maybe we can reach that goal. Maybe a little great,
that'd be great. Well, Greeney, they're taking their time here,
going to look at it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:01):
They are they want to make sure I respect that.
Speaker 3 (01:28:07):
And the championship game will be held here at Ritter
Arena at three o'clock on Sunday, and Ohio State has
earned their right to be one of the two competitors
in that game Tomorrow at eleven thirty on the campus
I believe here at the University of Minnesota somewhere, I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
Not exactly sure where I have the address.
Speaker 3 (01:28:32):
They will be the announcement of the Patty Kasmier award
winner That will be at eleven thirty tomorrow. That will
be on the National Hockey League Network and it's a live,
one half hour show. The three candidates are Leila Edwards
along with KK Harvey and of course O'Brien you got
a favorite of that one.
Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
I tell you, I'd love to see if Badger get it,
and obviously that's going to happen.
Speaker 7 (01:28:57):
I think Casey Ryan has really earned a donor like that,
so yeah, I'd be happy to see her get it.
Speaker 11 (01:29:07):
Two minutes wow, wow, Wow, I'm glad it isn't fine.
Thank you, thank you, they took they made sure you know. Well,
and as you mentioned that you're not being negative. Mark
Abby does at times kind of should we call it acting?
Speaker 7 (01:29:31):
Yeah, I don't know if she's a drama and arts major,
but you couldn't if she was she competitor.
Speaker 4 (01:29:38):
Yeah, she is a real good hockey player and a
real good competitor. Yeah. And well think Mark appears unhappy
about something here.
Speaker 7 (01:29:47):
I don't know if he's asking about if they have
to forfeit a I mean, do you have to forfeit
a time out?
Speaker 4 (01:29:55):
Yeah? Request a challenge and.
Speaker 3 (01:29:57):
Don't win it.
Speaker 2 (01:29:58):
Yeah, I think it's possible that the referees initiated that challenge,
and he's arguing that Minnesota tragical lay the games get
able to make that choice Scotch. But it doesn't look
like the refs are giving him satisfaction on that one.
Speaker 3 (01:30:10):
Yeah, ok, yeah, we go face off, coming up and
back in the zone of Wisconsin.
Speaker 4 (01:30:15):
Yeah, forty six seconds to go in the period.
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
Three to two Badgers here those who get out toard
the end of the second Cherio, Wisconsin's already got a
shorthander in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:30:26):
They have two of the.
Speaker 3 (01:30:29):
Well, they may have called a penalty on Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (01:30:32):
Yeah, I didn't. Number nine Abel Lindsey might be going
to the box as well.
Speaker 3 (01:30:38):
For the golfers.
Speaker 4 (01:30:39):
No, it's uh Premorano. Oh I'm sorry, Pree. Miranda's rowing
out the freshman defenseman. Heck of a player. Boy, that
was a short power class, no kidding.
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
Lacy Eaton had a clear line to that puck and
she just held her up. She basically stood her up
right and sent her so they got her for interference.
Speaker 7 (01:30:56):
Oh, Brian actually single handle, he got that puck out
of his old from that defensive zone. Face off on
her own. She just stayed with it and kept flowing.
Speaker 3 (01:31:05):
One forty nine remainting in one penalty two minutes on
the other one they will carry over. Obviously, we have
thirty three seconds remitted in the period. Here Lele Edwards
wine along the batman's trying to control it. Twenty eight
seconds remnuting. Batt's trying to hold his own coming up ice.
Both teams are shorthanded. A player here and the pucker
(01:31:28):
is loose, comes into the line with it as Hubert
fired in wide of the goal. Down now to thirteen
second tremnting and there's a player and they went up
over the side of the cage that coming up ice.
Speaker 4 (01:31:42):
He's not gent over line or broad show. You school.
Speaker 3 (01:31:48):
The upper right hand to the net on a print way.
Two seconds to go in the period and the Badgers
looted by a store quarter two.
Speaker 4 (01:31:58):
Wow, what a change of events there.
Speaker 2 (01:32:02):
Who Ella Hubert got pushed up against the cage. The
Badger's cage has spun out, and I think the Minnesota
players thought of punty was coming. The Badgers kept playing.
There was no whistle and they were able to take
it up Ice with an odd man rush to get
the score. Casey O'Brien.
Speaker 4 (01:32:16):
What a shot, Mike Goodness, never gave up on the
play man, oh Man, look at that.
Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
And Wisconsin has a four to two lead, and that
was a four on four goal. We've come to the
end of the second period of play with is conson
fans standing and appreciating the efforts to the Badgers as
they score four goals lead it four for two.
Speaker 7 (01:32:50):
Mark, this is fun, unbelievable and you know what gets
me the next twenty minutes, you're going to be just
as crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:32:56):
Yeah, you can cut on that.
Speaker 3 (01:32:58):
We'll be back.
Speaker 4 (01:32:59):
This is was Cotchen Badgers women's hockey.
Speaker 2 (01:33:09):
Welcome back everyone. After a wild second period, it's Wisconsin four,
Minnesota two. As we get ready to go to the
third period, we're at the second intermission. Wisconsin gets three
goals in that period against just one from Minnesota. Carolyn
Harvey at two fifty two in and even strength tally
on a beautiful change of direction to get a score,
assist from Casey O'Brien and Kirsten Simms. Then Sims herself
(01:33:32):
got a goal at nine to forty two, also even strength,
with assists from Eden at Vivian Jungles Eden a killer
pass Simms pulled the trigger and scored, but just forty
seconds after that score, Minnesota struck back. It was Josephine
Provings along with an assist from Nelly Lightning and the
captain at ten twenty seven to make it three to
two Wisconsin. Then with two seconds to go, Casey O'Brien
(01:33:53):
a four on four tally with an assist from Lady Podder.
Lots of penalties in that period. Two against Minnesota, one
against Wisconsin, a lot of controversy, a lot of contact.
They'll be talking about this one for a long time
to come, but there's still twenty minutes to play to
decide the winner and who goes on to face Ohio
State in the national championship game. We're going to take
a break. We'll be back with an interview with Carolyn
(01:34:15):
Harvey and Casey O'Brien and more here on the intermission show.
This is Wisconsin Bazer Women's Hockey on AM ten seventy
the game. Welcome back, everybody. We're just about to get underway.
Speaker 4 (01:34:32):
In the third period.
Speaker 2 (01:34:33):
The Badgers lead the Minnesota Golden Golfers four to two
in this NCAA semifinal game. The winner will go on
to play Ohio State on Sunday at three pm in
the National Championship game, assuming it is the Badgers, we
will have that game right for you right here on
AM ten seventy the game, Paul, You've been talking about
it all season. You mentioned it at the top of
the broadcast. Goals for a Cure dot org. It's a
website we're trying to raise money for Alzheimer's research, to
(01:34:57):
raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease. And we have a twenty
thousand dollars match on and we have of the forty
thousand dollars goal, we're already a thirty four thousand.
Speaker 3 (01:35:05):
We are close to achieving this goal. Yeah, and it'd
be nice if people are so inclined. It goes to
a very good cause. You can also go to that
network to get a lot of information about the disease.
Speaker 4 (01:35:16):
And that kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
We just wanted to do it for sportscasters in Madison
have all been afflicted by this, Mike Keller, Matt Lapey,
Brian Posik, and myself, and we're just trying to educate
the public about the severity of the situation. At the
same time, we thought and let's have some fun and
see if we can raise some money for the Wisconsin
Institute to end Alzheimer's disease. And one hundred percent of
(01:35:41):
the proceeds is going to them. And if you make
a pledge of fifty bucks, it's going to be one hundred.
And we're about six grand away and Mark Greenhall is
going to get out his checkbook and write one for
five grand here tonight.
Speaker 4 (01:35:53):
I'll get read on this squaking. Ok. It's a great cause,
but for sure it affects so many people. What was
the distress down at the locker room?
Speaker 7 (01:36:06):
Well, it's play smart to pull the blue eyes, shoot
the pup and shoot high and stay.
Speaker 3 (01:36:13):
Out of the box.
Speaker 4 (01:36:15):
Yeah, that was one I was gonna mention one of
the three keys, stay out of the box. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:36:20):
Well, when you get banged around like David, I suppose
you get in a situation where you want to hit back. Huh.
Speaker 4 (01:36:26):
You know you got a factor in these teams. This
is a six the sixth time that they.
Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
Faced each other.
Speaker 7 (01:36:32):
So you know, I'm not trying to justify schippiness by
either team, but you can see where people get on
each other's edge.
Speaker 4 (01:36:39):
And as dependentive as they are, and you see some
of the stuff. We're seeing some physical play.
Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
Quite apparently everybody's okay, y yep, Because Abby Murphy is
out of the ice, yep. And we'll open up the period.
Remember where it's going to be a power player four
on four for a while here, Yeah, and right now
(01:37:08):
it's four on four as he mentioned, but we're gonna
have a very short power play.
Speaker 4 (01:37:13):
Yeah, about eleven seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:37:15):
It up over through Jungles, will drive it around the
boards on the far side, back over to Eden, Eden
shuffling it back over the while Brian comes back out
on top, moving around over and went through the skates
of Eaton there held in by Jungles. A little given
go along the boards near side. Eaton at the point
holds it in back over to O'Brian shot, oh boy,
(01:37:36):
she had an opportunity there, yep. And she shuffles it
around of the play Potter back TNN to get in
the corner on the plate to Edon Eden, back over
to O'Brian out top on the far boards over the
near side the jungles. She banged it off the back wall.
Gophers turn and they try to bring it out. Abby
Murphy's skating to pick it up but beating her to
(01:37:58):
it was Potter. Nice move there. Here comes Potter back
in the zone on the far side, carries it in
behind it out of the wrap around and she controls
it and trying to move it to the high slot.
Gophers turning up ice they come him, comes in out
of the line off, but they're off side. Wetherington was
on our right side. Yeah, and we'll have a face
(01:38:20):
off coming up.
Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
Bads are happy to get an off sides. There m
a finusio pinched down to try and attack on the
offensive zone. They ended up with a two on one
the other way.
Speaker 4 (01:38:28):
Yeah. Agree.
Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
Saves in the game are twenty one fourteen Minnesota with
the twenty one shops are twenty five sixteen edge to
the Badgers. Both clubs are four on the power play
two opportunities Minnesota three Wisconsin and the four to two
score here.
Speaker 4 (01:38:49):
Two and Badgers are back at whole strength.
Speaker 3 (01:38:52):
As Harvey comes out of the penalty box, skates across
the ice, and we'll have a face off coming up
back in the zone of the.
Speaker 7 (01:38:59):
Gophers that will have a person advantage for about seven seconds.
Speaker 4 (01:39:03):
It looks like, huh, well.
Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
At least they get the face off in their z
own right at offense's own face off.
Speaker 4 (01:39:09):
Of the man advantage. Let's get a high quality shot.
Speaker 3 (01:39:12):
And the draw went forward and the Minnesota will bang
it around off the boards, but it was held in
there that it's flipped up into the crowd. Yeah, the
Gophers are back at full strength, so we'll have both
teams now at full and equal strength here eighteen thirty
four remaining in this third period. Ratt Frost is the
(01:39:36):
coach of Minnesota eighteenth year. For him, it's won four
NCAA titles, seven regular season championships, and five postseason playoff.
Edwards with a drive right on save is made by
Hannah Clark rout of the far side. Gorbatanko, pinned along
the far boards, moving comes over to help out Minnesota
(01:40:00):
to get it out of the zone. Held in and
with it is Murphy Murphy on the near side, drops
it over to Cassie Hall back of the Murphy in
the corner. Murphy will work the boards back to Gorbatanko
behind the net, around over to Layley. Edwards try to
move out in front of the net, goes back in
the corner, bangs it off the back wall, comes.
Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
Around of the plate to Murphy at the point right.
Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
Tried to fire it across the rink to the right point,
but it was tipped off the stick of moving into
the crowds.
Speaker 4 (01:40:30):
Yeah, I'm glad that that went out of the rink
because we had a one on zero.
Speaker 3 (01:40:34):
I had not Roznevitch is coming out and right is
out for cards out. Harvey and jungles for the Badgers.
Minnesota counters with the line of Connor along with Milan
Kobu and Wethington and in Wisconsin's Harvey sets it up
out on top and around on the far side. Play
(01:40:56):
comes to the boards and turning trying to pick it up.
The bat try to hold it in but off on
the play with it is lightening. Lightening gets the return passed.
They'll work the wing. The hamp on the right side
tried to lead it out over to Milan Kobu and
it's dumped back down on the zone of the Gophers
back going over to pick it up as lightening on
(01:41:17):
the break, Minnesota moves it out to center ice Lindsey
with it on a little return pass there and it's
taken away.
Speaker 4 (01:41:26):
From Milan Kobu.
Speaker 3 (01:41:28):
The Gophers on the far side, tried to set it up,
Wisconsin breaks it out and the back goes parking in
and play it in behind the out of Wisconsin seventeen
oh seven, Ory Minting. In the third period, Badger's up
by a couple of goals and coming up Ice with
it as Jungles back hands it through center. Ice rolls
down to the left side of the goaltender. Wisconsin holding
(01:41:51):
the zone. They'll work the wing down in the corner
over to try and pick it up and play comes
at tourd the blue line on Minnesota turns plays it out.
Potter broke that up, carried it back to the Gopher
line and fired it in. Rolls behind the out of
the Gophers around the boards on the far side, parking
and played it out on the wing, trying to move
(01:42:14):
it up. Ice in the neutral zone eaten with it,
tried to advance it and Sims overstated it. Minnesota comes
into the line. There's a drive in the shot taken
by Weffington, put away by Ava McNaughty.
Speaker 4 (01:42:28):
Lay save the Nava there, loll rebound.
Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
Gormtanko comes out, the hall comes out, Edwards comes out
for the Badgers. Gore Jungles one of the defense. Van
Harvey the other played back to the point on the
far side. There's a drive down deep in the zone
in the corner nearboards. Wisconsin over to pick it up
(01:42:54):
and it slides all the way back, and we should
have an icing called here against Wisconsin. That'll draw the
face back in the Badger zone.
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
Doesn't seem to quite have the same intensity at the
start of this third period. It's so wild at the
end of the second. Maybe everyone's a little bit tapped
out here in the third.
Speaker 4 (01:43:12):
Yeah, we'll see what happens here.
Speaker 7 (01:43:13):
I'm sure it'll ramp back up as some period progresses,
that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:43:19):
And there's a drive Bot Murphy and there swept God
and played in the corner.
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
Stoppage and play there, quick whistle the referee on the
far side offt side of it.
Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
Yeah, thank you, Yeah, face off coming up. Ela Huber
looks like she's going to try and win the draw
for Minnesota. Face off coming to the right side of
McNaughton and O'Brien wins that draw around on the far boards.
They try to bring it out over to Gorbatankle. Minnesota
(01:43:51):
pinching in the near corner, trying to hold it in
Hubert goes out in front of that, but they play
it to the point on the pass and that's block
played off.
Speaker 4 (01:44:01):
Harvey gloved it, play it to the ice. Here's Gorba
Tanco and Edwards moving it in.
Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
Shut up who.
Speaker 3 (01:44:09):
Layla Edwards gets the thirty third over the year. Smooth,
nice pals send the Badgers waiting five to two.
Speaker 4 (01:44:21):
What a great play by Gorba.
Speaker 3 (01:44:24):
Tanco in Layla had lady just a textbook two on one.
Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
Glorba Tanco on the left wing Leyland Tanco gets the
defender to commit, takes the pass and then Layla brings
it from her forehand to her backhand to slide it
pass Clark and get the score.
Speaker 3 (01:44:38):
Wow, what a plate, what a great wow.
Speaker 2 (01:44:44):
Here we go Sho.
Speaker 4 (01:44:46):
And it's a three goal league for the Badgers.
Speaker 3 (01:44:49):
The round of the far shive. Fifty twenty nine remaining
here Wisconsin Burdigan.
Speaker 4 (01:44:56):
They try to play it off Bykes trying to state
it down as Lancoba.
Speaker 3 (01:45:04):
Harvey got one of the assists and Gorba Tanko the
other on the goal that was scored by Leilea Edwards
and she's now tied with Murphy for top goal scoring
in the league with thirty three and to play at
center ice over to control it, and the puck is.
Speaker 2 (01:45:23):
Going to be played back.
Speaker 3 (01:45:24):
Getting a little more quieted here on the Minnesota side
of things.
Speaker 4 (01:45:28):
And there is a lot of red red out there
in the crowd right and.
Speaker 3 (01:45:32):
Going back down over trying to control it. Badgers work
the farboards and the puck is going to be played
behind that. Wisconsin has won the last nine games in
a row. With Minnesota coming in over the line, here's
Egan coming off the wing in the corner over the
set it up. They play it around over the sims,
centered right at you in front. It's going to be
(01:45:55):
turned back by Minnesota controlling in Wethington. Wethington comes in
over the line and the Badgers will regroup in their
own zone, look to control it. They work it out
on the lead pass. Eden was trying to pick that
up and we'll have play stopped or going to continue.
Pardon me, I had on.
Speaker 4 (01:46:15):
The play was content in the neutral zone.
Speaker 3 (01:46:18):
O'Brien, take it a look with the Gophers dump it,
Badgers take it away and they come through center ice
trying to control it. But it's Hubert of Minnesota on
the break, controlling it Moro coming up Ice angled it
off the sideboards, that went to the stick of Potter in.
Speaker 4 (01:46:35):
The Wisconsin zone. Make sure that went off.
Speaker 3 (01:46:39):
A body picked up by Gorba Tankl comes in over
the line, shot right on and the saves made.
Speaker 4 (01:46:45):
Harvey with two assists tonight and forty four on the
aar Greenie.
Speaker 7 (01:46:50):
I was just going to say, a lace hard shot
by Gorba Tanko. There she crossed the blue line. The
letter ripped love save by the goaltender, Hannah Clark. We've
got Leilah Edwards with two goals tonight.
Speaker 4 (01:47:03):
We're going to take a break. This is Wisconsin Badger
women's hockey.
Speaker 2 (01:47:26):
Welcome back everyone. The Badgers at the media timeout lead
five to two in this third period out the NCAA Semifinals.
The face off will be the Hannah Clark's right on
the near side of the Minnesota Golden Gopher zone. Laila
Edwards the most recent one to do damage on an
assist for Kelly Borbatanco and I think.
Speaker 3 (01:47:43):
They gave one to Harvey too. I believe yep down
the face off coming up to the right side from
Hannah Clark back in the zone of the Gophers, grab
Win should draw and they play it around and controlling it.
O'Brien down in the corner around over to Gorbatanco goes
to boobing moving out at center ice. Her breakout pass
(01:48:07):
is intercepted by Harvey. Minnesota regroups though here comes Abby
Murphy in over the line. She can really skate. Yeah,
she's fast as a good player, moving it up ice,
controlling it coming through neutral Badgers trying to pick it up,
and they do control it haul back handing, get down
in behind the net and the play continues. The Gophers
(01:48:28):
work it up the wing on the far side. Thirteen
oh three are remitting in the period. Badgers want to
win this game. They're thirty seventh of the year against
only one loss and two ties, and that would put
him in the championship game against the Buckeyes at three
o'clock on Sunday, and the one loss on the entire
(01:48:49):
season that.
Speaker 4 (01:48:50):
Was brought on by the Buckeyes.
Speaker 3 (01:48:53):
Around of the far side, controlling it coming through center
ice to the blue line. Whistle and play is going
to be stopped from the off side call.
Speaker 7 (01:49:02):
You know, it's it's nice to see we're kind up
dumping it in wisely and forcing the golfers to play
in their own end a little bit miss period and
that pays off going down the stretch here as time
takes away, make them play uphill.
Speaker 4 (01:49:19):
Well, another goal may make it a mount climb, man.
Speaker 3 (01:49:23):
I hope we're out of the far side Wisconsin at
center ice, controlling it. They work it ahead, they dump
it off the boards, and it's going to be played
in the neutral zone and morrow over to set it
up off on the break. They lead the pass through
and that is going to be work all the way
back down to the golfer Russel Wow, Pat O'Brien chasing
(01:49:46):
it down, trying along with Sims to hold the zone.
But the golfers bring it out on the play Primorano
comes in over the line and they work it and
that shot and went off up into the crowd, I believe.
And the face off with twelve minutes remitting in the
third period, did that hit a player on the way
in or okay?
Speaker 4 (01:50:06):
Yeah? Deflect it up fallow yeah, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
One of the things the Gophers do really well is
they're on their entry is almost like crossing routes in football,
where you're trying to peel a foreigner or a safety
off by running someone as a screens. They do that
very well every time they come in the Dodger zone.
Speaker 4 (01:50:21):
Make themselves difficult to defend that way, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:50:24):
Around on the far side, trying to control it. Eleven
fifty four, remitting here in the third period, played back
deep in the zone in the corner, parking and looking
for help along over to end right. Minnesota turns though,
and they'll come out of their own zone up the
boards on the far side. Pope checked away as was
(01:50:45):
trying to hold the zone with help from per card.
Speaker 4 (01:50:47):
They do.
Speaker 3 (01:50:48):
They play it around the boards to the point it's
picked up by jungles. Jungles down to end right on
the play Badgers back to the point, comes around on
the pass and there's a drive and that went up
third deflected and stopped.
Speaker 7 (01:51:04):
Player boy, I'll tell you it was just a pure
hustle avoided debt being called icing, and as a result
we had possession of the funck of the offensive zone
for a while.
Speaker 4 (01:51:16):
Great hustle.
Speaker 3 (01:51:20):
Face off coming up back in the Minnesota zone eleven nineteen,
remitting in the third period five two Wisconsin twenty seven
to eighteen. In shots over the hall, Hall works it
around and it slides along the back wall in the
near corner and coming over moving of Minnesota turns, tries
to bring it out. Leyla Edwards holds it in. They
(01:51:43):
play it at center ice that's knocked down. Gorbatanco had
it for a second there that things hop it all
over and the Badger's turn and they'll just fire it
down back in the Minnesota zone. It's going to slide
back they ice no icing called is light and in
turn Wisconsin looking to hold it in, lighting them to
pick it up for Minnesota. She comes out on the
(01:52:04):
wing near side over to Abby Murphy who moved past
Gorbatankle carries it in over the Wisconsin line trying to
beat Eden fired it right on and to say was
knocked down and blocked by McNaughton and Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:52:19):
Back off on the point far boards.
Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
They still control it, trying to set it up with
Lindsey and there's a shot just went wide by Boobing.
Jammin added, but down is McNaughton and play is going
to be stopped there.
Speaker 4 (01:52:37):
Poor boy.
Speaker 3 (01:52:38):
I think Kk's got a little bit of an edge going.
Speaker 2 (01:52:41):
In this game.
Speaker 4 (01:52:42):
I think you got happy to be an elbow.
Speaker 2 (01:52:44):
No that although set it off and I thought they
might have matched him up on that one. That was
well after the play, but the referee's decide to let
it go.
Speaker 4 (01:52:54):
She's not taking anything tonight after that deal. Hope you're right.
Speaker 3 (01:53:00):
I'm sixteen remainting in the third period back to the
point and over to try and set it up. Wisconsin
trying to bring it out of the zone. Pressure in
front of the that and it's going to be around
over to weed and Eden turned and played it up
Ice in the neutral zone. Sims picks it up, moves
in over the line and Sims with it, keeps control
(01:53:20):
of the puck, goes behind the end back then it's
centering passed, but nobody home but Gophers and coming up
Ice controlling get in the neutral zone and the Badgers
O'Brien with it. She's got a nice night going. She's
got a couple of assists and a goal, and they'll
control it and they move it in. Here's Sims with
it with a shot that's blocked.
Speaker 4 (01:53:41):
And saved me.
Speaker 2 (01:53:44):
Sims again, toe dragging through traffic, finding an open spot
at the bottom of the circle. Clark nicely aligned to
make the safe, but a great set of moves by
Sims to get open and get a.
Speaker 3 (01:53:52):
Shot five to two, score nine thirty five, reminting in
the period.
Speaker 4 (01:54:00):
A break.
Speaker 3 (01:54:00):
This is Wisconsin Badgers Women's hockey. Hello, zach s Mark
green All, I, PM Brown, John Prebo back at the
studios taking care of the engineering for us.
Speaker 2 (01:54:17):
Thank you sean nice job.
Speaker 3 (01:54:19):
And it's fine too here at Ritter Arena in the
Twin Cities in this semi final matchup of the women's
Frozen Four. Dodgers have won seven national titles. They've been
to eighteen Frozen Fours, with the terms of wins in
those sixteen appearances that they've made in the eighteen Frozen
(01:54:44):
four wins, been to the NCAA for twelve consecutive years.
And Paul in the face off circle to the left
side of Hannah Clark and Minnesota will set it up
to come out of their own zone, working it through center.
(01:55:04):
Rice Gopher's Wepington with it. Wepington, there's a drive and
Ava McNaughton, the goalie of the Year by the selection
process of the Hockey Coaches Association, didn't even make first
team All WCHA.
Speaker 2 (01:55:21):
Now she's the.
Speaker 4 (01:55:21):
Goalie of the year. Go figure, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:55:26):
Do you think it had something to do with eight
other members being selected to the WCHA first, second, and
third teams and All Rookie team. But it shouldn't be
that way. You're the best players. Yep, you should be selected.
That's my opinion.
Speaker 4 (01:55:42):
I agree with you. Coming in over the line. Here's
O'Brien with it with a shot that's deflected and blocked.
Would saved by Clark around over to the far side
and going in behind the net.
Speaker 3 (01:55:55):
One explanation that was given was she didn't she didn't
to be She wasn't faced with that many tough shots.
Speaker 7 (01:56:04):
Oh jeez, I disagree. Yeah, I think that argument is
about his.
Speaker 3 (01:56:08):
Let's see Minnesota, Duluth, Ohio State Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (01:56:12):
Yeah, yeah, the list is go down the list.
Speaker 7 (01:56:15):
She gets tested, no doubt, and numerous times that comes
up with the you know, solid saver.
Speaker 3 (01:56:24):
We interviewed her last week, of course, and I rode
down the elevator with her today and I looked at
her and I said, nice going and she smiled.
Speaker 2 (01:56:31):
You could just tell yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:56:35):
She wouldn't say anything. She didn't have to. She's she's
growing up. You know, he's a young lady. But she's
mature and only a sophomore.
Speaker 3 (01:56:43):
Yeah, and it's going to be played up the far
boards and controlling it in Wisconsin coming through center ice,
played back down on the corner on the far side,
lighting and back over to try and control it. Minnesota
comes out of their own zone and coming through center
ice with it as huber Hubert back ends it around
on the far side, chant of let's go Badgers starting
(01:57:09):
to come up here without twenty two remitting. But Minnesota
is very capable.
Speaker 4 (01:57:14):
Yeah, they almost put one in there, even came up big.
Speaker 3 (01:57:17):
And back of the head of Wisconsin. The Gophers set
it up and control and they'll move it between the
dots moving.
Speaker 4 (01:57:25):
Tried to take a drive of the.
Speaker 3 (01:57:27):
Badgers chip it away coming up vice was Levitch comes
in over the line, tried to lead and ride doesn't
connect and back come the Gophers through neutral life and
coming back in over the line controlling it. That's Milan,
Kobu and Whistlelly.
Speaker 2 (01:57:44):
I think so yeah, yeah, I think they're going to
get Sarah what's image for a hook there? As she
tried to catch up through center ice, got her stick
extended a little bit, and I think she's going to
have to sit down.
Speaker 3 (01:57:54):
I'll put the Gophers on the power play with seven
forty seven remitting here in the third period, down by
three goals, but tell you what you.
Speaker 2 (01:58:03):
Score one here, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
Min in three.
Speaker 3 (01:58:10):
Christ is out for Minnesota, moving is out in the ice, lighten,
it is out on the ice. You've got him.
Speaker 4 (01:58:19):
Also out.
Speaker 3 (01:58:22):
On the power play, and we'll see what happens here, Dad,
whether it is O'Brien. O'Brien slaps it up the far boards,
trying to chase it down Eden in a race to
go after the puck. Minnesota turns and comes around on
the break coming up, Minnesota comes out of their own
zone and where they're lighting it off on the play,
(01:58:44):
They've got Lindsey at the blue line lagging back and
the Badger's drive it back down finally killing unit changes
leyla Edward comes out. Hall comes out ad back defensively.
It's Potter and Murphy for the Badger and pucked through
neutral ice sort of to try and pick it up.
Speaker 4 (01:59:03):
They take it away.
Speaker 3 (01:59:04):
Here's Hall coming in rush shot right on look a
backhand er and that way in.
Speaker 4 (01:59:11):
Front of the net, but it's swept away. Great effort
by Hall.
Speaker 3 (01:59:15):
One ten remaining here in the over on the power
play and Moral comes in over the line. The defenseman
for Minnesota back on the point, pass to the right.
Nobody home there. They got to retrieve it and set
it up the Gophers in a little give and go
along the board's near side. Ellen Kobu fired in wide
(01:59:36):
of the mark and the Badgers will dump it down
and they'll change up the penalty killer. They'll come it
out as Eden along with O'Brien and back defensively for Wisconsin.
We've got Jungles being one of them and Harvey being
the other on the penalty killed. They've got thirty seconds
before they're back at full strength. They move it in
(01:59:58):
and the drive is pushed out of the mark. Badgers
turn tried to lead it out over to Eden.
Speaker 4 (02:00:04):
Eden knocked it.
Speaker 3 (02:00:05):
Down partially with a stick, but that went to Hubrew
who carried it in over the line of the Badgers
trying to poke check it away. Eden working hard along
the boards with O'Brien, they bumped it loose and back.
Speaker 4 (02:00:17):
Wow, what a play by those two.
Speaker 7 (02:00:19):
Eden o'bright are the two best killing pedally killing forwards
I've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (02:00:24):
Seriously, five minutes, forty seven seconds remaining. The Badgers are
back at full strength. They look to try and set
it up. It's five to two Badgers here in the
third period around on the far side, Harvey looking for
help to clear it and the play down in the corner,
Harvey trying to control it. Was Nevitch watching the action
(02:00:47):
and coming back over to set it up. Wisconsin comes
out of the zone and they work it through center
ice Leyla Edwards with two goals in the game. Back
comes the Gophers in over the line is Hemp Harvey
looking for help as the Badgers per card turns and
dumps it down in change up by Wisconsin. As I mentioned,
(02:01:10):
Layla whether it's thirty second and thirty third goals of
the year, Harvey with her seventeenth goal of the year,
Kirsten Simms whether twenty third, and O'Brien matching her number with.
Speaker 4 (02:01:23):
Her twenty sixth goal of the air. Ma'am and the
golfers don't give up goals easily, no, you know.
Speaker 3 (02:01:35):
Minnesota came in with a twenty nine eleven and one record.
The series between them is all squared. They've played one
hundred and thirty times. Isn't that something?
Speaker 4 (02:01:48):
And it's all tied at fifty seven, fifty seven.
Speaker 3 (02:01:52):
And sixteen coming up, Biz control to get its bang
around the boards back in behind Graham cutting it or
Clark cutting it off there on the far side. Fuck
comes through center ice at the Badger blueline. It's going
to be Minnesota. They gotta wait to have a player
get back out of the zone and the Badgers will
(02:02:13):
play it back down on the corner on the left side.
Speaker 4 (02:02:16):
Gorbatanco over to pick it up.
Speaker 3 (02:02:17):
Gorbol skates behind the app back out on top over
the Layla Laila with it turned. It looked like she
wanted to tee that one up to that hat trick.
Shot around over the Gorbatanco far seventeen remitting here in
the third period. Badger's up by a hat trick. If
you would around on the far side, coming through center ice,
(02:02:40):
Christ with it comes in over the line on the
play wing near side, back comes Moro. You can kind
of see it's taking the intensity a little bit out
of the golfers. They're still playing hard, they're killing it,
but we're we're fending them off. Yeah, they're three point
fifty remitting in the third period and you're down by
three goals. Badgers give up less than two goals a game,
(02:03:03):
putting it over the line. Here's O'Brien with a shot
the rebound and sim she slid it on the ice
but was tied up, couldn't get.
Speaker 4 (02:03:12):
It near the neck.
Speaker 3 (02:03:12):
Yep, little ride over to Eden Eden behind the that
Eaton's pretty good up there on the wing with those too,
is she ever? And the play in the neutral zone,
Eaten loses her stick that flies high in the air
coming around and the movie it up ice controlling, get
back around the boards over to try and pick that up,
(02:03:34):
whistle and play stop with three point thirteen reminting in
the third period, Badgers have been good in the third period.
They've outscored their opponents forty nine to eight. Minnesota's had
a good third period, scoring fifty three.
Speaker 7 (02:03:48):
Like I said, they're not going away, even though the
time is trickling away.
Speaker 4 (02:03:53):
You know, we got a break. We've scot one more.
We'll be back after this. I'm out. This is Badger
Women's socer.
Speaker 3 (02:04:07):
We're back at Renteral Arena in the Twin Cities along
with Zack Seelaw, Mark Greenhall, Sean Prebow back at the studios.
Speaker 4 (02:04:15):
I'm Paul brown.
Speaker 2 (02:04:17):
Well it's looking good at this point that the.
Speaker 3 (02:04:20):
Badgers will be back here Sunday afternoon at three o'clock
to play the Buckeyes of Ohio State in the championship game.
And everybody is thinking about the rematch from last year's
run to nothing long.
Speaker 2 (02:04:35):
Be a fire in the row.
Speaker 7 (02:04:37):
Athlete, that's the word there on the letton remaining three
minutes in thirteen seconds.
Speaker 4 (02:04:45):
What did you think of Ohio State? Did you get
to see him today?
Speaker 7 (02:04:48):
I did watch him play and I thought they looked good.
Mattenna Webster looked real good for it.
Speaker 2 (02:04:52):
Oh god, she want the best player on the ice.
Speaker 4 (02:04:55):
Yeah, yeah, exactly. She had a goal. And to assist
that she did so many things well consist but yeah,
you know the.
Speaker 3 (02:05:04):
Tas off coming up to the left side. We have
three minutes ten seconds remitting here. There's a drive went
down in the corner on the near boards over trying
to pick that up. Minnesota around on the far side.
They pulled their goalie, Yeah they have, and then with
it as Moro moro back and they move it in.
There's a shot.
Speaker 4 (02:05:24):
Oh, and that one blocked it.
Speaker 3 (02:05:27):
Oh, Leila's getting up pretty slow there. Yeah, she's skating
off the ice. Hopefully she's okay because she did take
the brunt of that shot. Yepar slot down with two
forty remitting in the period, goes back in behind Wisconsin
turning tried to chip it out of there.
Speaker 4 (02:05:45):
Gophers look to hold it in the net.
Speaker 3 (02:05:47):
At the other end is empty and Wisconsin looking to
try and bring it out of the zone. Two twenty
eight remainting, there's a shot deflected wat of the goal
round on the far side. Lacy Eaton is one of
those out of the ice. Be nice to see her
get another breakaway.
Speaker 4 (02:06:05):
Yeah, that's it, no kidding.
Speaker 3 (02:06:07):
Fight her way to the nat coming around on the
far boards, there's a drive win why Badger's trying to
get it out of the zone. The Minnesota with the
extra attacker, they slide it around on the right side
and they try to move it in.
Speaker 4 (02:06:20):
Wisconsin trying to clear it out. Wasnavit it?
Speaker 2 (02:06:24):
We got there?
Speaker 3 (02:06:25):
You that pce who's got it? Eden shot?
Speaker 4 (02:06:29):
She fired a lot of the goal eating just like
you predicted.
Speaker 3 (02:06:35):
Remaining mandads coming through center eyes trying to control it.
It's going to be played back down in the corner
on the far side. Aba McNaughton will sweep it around
the boards. The net is still empty. Minnesota setting it
up shot and why of the goal? One twenty eight

Speaker 2 (02:07:13):
Nation would go Wow, you couldn't ask for better. Leilah
Edwards accelerates through center ice. She leaves the Gophers in
her dust. There's nothing they can do.
Speaker 4 (02:07:24):
There is the shot.
Speaker 2 (02:07:25):
Hear Patrick for the night. As you said, Paul, also
the NCAA leading goals for this season.
Speaker 4 (02:07:31):

Speaker 3 (02:07:51):

Sunday will be the official winner of.
Speaker 4 (02:07:56):

Lowski with it six two batters and coming through a
neutral trying to control U and the play comes back
(02:08:24):
live around the boards on the far side and forty
nine seconds remaining here. Let's just finish the game now, Yeah, Well,
kidding around down deep in the zone in the corner.
We don't need anything to happen. R play it around
down the far side. The Badger fans are applauding. They're
(02:08:45):
standing and appreciating the efforts with it as Venusio, she
just tries and does roll it down yep, gets it
twenty five seconds. The Badgers are going to go to
thirty seven to one and two, and they will be

Speaker 4 (02:09:38):
All right, mister Mark Greenhall, thank you, thank you, Zach,
thank you. Paul out Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (02:09:44):
You're bad and we're gonna let Mark go so he
can go downstairs and me with the coaches and the
players and the journey continues.
Speaker 2 (02:09:54):
Here Zach was still dancing. That was a phenomenal effort
from the Badgers after a difficult start, and especially with
the penalty that was called in a way maybe they
didn't want. It was a tough way to go, and
they fought all the way back to win big, six
to two against their most bitter rival in Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (02:10:16):
Yeah, so we're gonna rap, well, we'll come back after
this time out. This is Wisconsin Badger women's hockey.
