Speaker 3 (01:13):
Good Evening on a beautiful Friday nights here in Madison, Wisconsin.
From Camp Randalls Stadium, alongside Mark Tauscher, our sideline reporter
Patrick Herbs, statistician Mike Keller, our engineer Dave McCann, and
Aishauld Jackson. Back at our network studio. This is Matt Lapay.
We welcome you to Wisconsin football with the Badgers take
on the Western Michigan Broncos. They have just had the

(01:33):
coin toss. The Badgers have won it, they have deferred it,
so Western Michigan will touch it first. And before we start,
let us get to our Keys to the Game, presented
by your Badger Land Chevy Dealers at the all new
twenty twenty five Chevy Equinox Well Tash. We'll see the
Badger defense first. You mentioned it earlier in our pregame show.
I think we're all eager to see this Wisconsin defense
and can it harass the quarterback considerably more than it

(01:57):
did a year.

Speaker 6 (01:57):
Regard, Yeah, and that was one of the things last
year we just didn't see enough of it, And that
obviously was something that Luke Fickele and his staff decided.
You go out in the portal, bring some more talent
in and getting pressure with four, it just allows you
to do so much more stuff defensively. I'm sure Tressel'll
be excited to have that. That's one of the things

(02:18):
tonight that I think if Wisconsin's gonna have a lot
of success, it's going to be getting after the quarterback
with their down guys.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
One of the shirts that was worn by Luke Fickle
and many others on the staff during training camp had
the words the phrase hunt or be hunted. We'll dig
into that a little bit as we check in with
our sideline reporter Patrick Kurr. Good evening, gentlemen.

Speaker 7 (02:36):
Yeah, the genesis for that team modo dates back to
last season when the team would say they didn't meet expectations.
It's reflective of an attitude that some thought was missing.
Never settle, keep striving to be better. As Fickle put it,
the Badgers need that hunting mentality even in their own team,
challenging the guy in front of you on the depth
chart to.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Make him better, to make the team better.

Speaker 7 (02:56):
That competition has resulted in a deeper roster of players
that they could depend on.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Only twenty two players are.

Speaker 7 (03:02):
Listed as starters, but Fickel has repeatedly said he needs
sixty five guys to play this year and be counted on.
Tonight is Wisconsin's first chance to take that mentality outside
the program. We'll see if they could be the aggressor
and go hunting against Western Michigan.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
All right, Badgers kicking north to south, left to right
as we view it. Gavin lomb will handle the kickoff
duties thirty two times he had kickoffs last year, twelve
for touchbacks. Jaden Nixon, transferred from Oklahoma State, is the
deep man as the Broncos will travel south to north,
right to left as we view it at quarter number one,
Badgers in the home cardinal uniforms and the white trim.

(03:40):
Western Michigan with the white jerseys, the brown pants, the
brown trim. As we are finally set to go. Football
is back season number one hundred and thirty six off
Wisconsin football about to begin. The arms are swinging on
the kick cover team and love on the approach, and
the kick is away and it will sail through the
end a touchback. And we are underway in Madison, Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
And here we go it the excitement here, I think
for everything, but I was always at special teams turnovers.
One of the things that you look for right out
of the gate. Luke Fickle talked a lot about not
having a preseason game, not having it. Tackling and ball security.
I think you don't have all that live action. Those
are two things that you really want to look at.

(04:25):
Get those hits out of the way and make sure
that Western Michigan's ball security is on point.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Curt Neil Ben Barton will be the down line. Then
you got Darryl Peterson and Leon Lowry is the outside
backers Jehem Thomas Jake Cheney are inside and we are
set to go under Center. Is Hayden Woolf on first
and ten handoff Jalen Buckley off the right side across
the twenty five yard line that is driven down by
Darryl Peterson. At the twenty eight yard line. Ben Barton

(04:52):
is there as well. A gain of a couple, actually
the mark of the twenty seven, a gain of two.
It's chuck it down an eight facts Lothe is the
nickel or the slack corner. You got nicer four, Kurreene,
Ricard o'hollman as the corners. Preston, Zachman, Hunter Wolder are
the safeties and the shotgun now is Hayden Wolf. He

(05:14):
has Jalen Buckley that was left on second at eighth
snapped the wolf looking lefts wings the left and it's
dropped by Buckley. And actually there was no signal of
an incomplete pass. They have called that a backwards pass
and it goes out of bounds just beyond the twenty
two yard line, So a loss of five on what
turned out to be a fumble if that's what they
call it. It's third down and long.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
Yeah, it looks like they went incompletely.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
They will say incomplete check. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
What I love there is you just saw a really
good communication and Jake Cheney read that immediately Western Michigan
trying to pick him off. He slid through there and
that allowed, you know, to make that incomplete pass. Really
good read there by Cheney.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Very quick and proper correction there. Third and eight Broncos
our own twenty seven yard line. Three receivers left, one
of the right shotgun snap wolf pocket is tight plushed.
It was right wolf, Whale pulled it down, try to
run and he is labeled by Jaheen Thomas, one of
the inside linebackers. The transfer from Arkansas who started his
college career at Cincinnati under Luke Fickel and defensive coordinator

(06:13):
Mike Tressel, and just up to the twenty eight on
the gain of one and it's three and out for
Western Michigan to start the night.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
Exactly what you're looking for. Their good coverage, downfield, discipline,
pass lanes and Jeeve Thomas was sitting there right where
he needed to be closed down the quarterback force.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
In a punt, Ryan Milmore is deep, or rather the
punter for Western Michigan, and the stamp is clean and
the kick is in the air and letting it inside
the forty a big Western Michigan bounce as Vinnie Anthony
let it go and they're going to get a lot
of extra yards on a favorable bounce for the Broncos
as they'll kill it at the nineteen yard line Wisconsin

(06:50):
Territory after a fifty three yard pun ninety seconds gone
by No Sport Badgers on offense for the first time.
Tonight's game brought to you a park by Alliant Energy
is at the Lion Energy dot com to see how
Alliant Energy invest in diverse energy solutions for today and
in the future.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
Yeah, a lot of hitting yardage right there. And I
know it wasn't a great punt, but you can come
up and feel that you save fifteen or twenty yards.
Those little things. That's, you know, special teams is one
of the things you practice it. It's always in these
first games a difference maker when you're coming out here,
if you're not playing, if you're playing a.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Little slock well the nineteen yard line of Wisconsin first
and ten, will Pauling Slott right motions to the left.
Here's the handoff two tah Weee Walker probing the left
side and he's taking down right at the line of scrimmage,
Anterio Thompson, junior defensive tackle out of Dubuque, Iowa. We'll
sort of a homecoming for him by an hour and
change away, an hour and a half away or so,
and he gets the first tackle for the Broncos. They'll

(07:45):
give Walker a yard of the twenty where it's second
down and nine slots left and right. Now for the
Badgers at their own twenty second and nine shotgun staff
Van Dyke swings it right side, caught by Walker across
the twenty outside the number twenty five yard line. That
has driven to the turf for the twenty eight yard
line of the air side. Jacob Wahlberg, the middle linebacker
is there defensively and that's a gain of eight yards
the Badgers of a third and one.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
That was just fantastic perimeter blocking there. Noah Kowski did
a great job of containing holding off on his guy
and allowed him to pick up six or seven.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Two receivers left one on the right, Van Dyke gets
a shotgun stamp hands to walker Probes the left side
gets the first down. Whatwers the pads bangs his way
up across the thirty into the thirty two or thirty
three yard line of the first down full of the
Wisconsin Badgers.

Speaker 6 (08:26):
That's what you're looking for on a short yard situation.
Just get north and south, use those big strong at
lower half and move the pile. Easy pickup there.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
First in ten for the Badgers at their own thirty
three yard line, Tyler Van Dyke, the quarterback, gets the
stamp fax the handoff, drops the throw a little backside pressure,
and he releases it right side. The walker outside the
thirty five yard line gets ridden up into the air
and is taken down by Damari rovers In. An outside
linebacker fifty year senior at a muskeg in Michigan up

(08:56):
to the thirty six yard line of Wisconsin on ah.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Just good patience. They're feeling a little bit of pressure
off of his blind side, not trying to force anything.
Take what's there, pick up, you know, a quick two
to three yards and move on to the next play.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Cage Jacamelli into the game. Now he'll line up slot
to the left and now motions into the backfield. Three
running backs now at Tyler Van Dyke. The quarterback takes
the snap, he'll give it a Chess, but Lucy off
the right side drives his way up to about the
thirty nine yard line. Corey Walker, a defensive end Richard
Junior at a normal Illinois covers up Chez and the

(09:32):
Badgers of a third down and four at their thirty
nine yard line.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Yeah, a really nice job by Nelson left tackle. It
just pile driving his guy on that backside. Chess sees
that cuts right off of him.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Picked up four or five ce J Williams wide left,
will paul Ing's slot to the lefts vide Anthony out
wide to the right. You got Jacamelle and Malucy in
the backfield. Play clock is at twelve as Van Dyke
gets them organized surveys. The Western Michigan defense takes a stamp.
Bronck is bringing four quick shot left side, caught by
me Lucy Man. He's a good bye, a man twisting

(10:04):
his way up across the forty to the forty two
yard line. Nikwan Washington, the cornerback, is over there, stopping
Mlucy a yard short and the Badgers of a fourth
and one, and Luke Fickle says, we're going boys fourth
and one for the Badgers of their own forty two
yard Licke.

Speaker 6 (10:20):
You love this because you want to set a tone.
And if you're sitting in this position, you obviously would
love to have picked that up. But here you go
fourth and one on your side of the field. See
what you got.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
From the wide receiver to the rights. Walker is the
running back, Vandike go give it to him. Walker gets
the first down, crushing off the left side across the
forty five to the forty six yard line and a
first down for the Wisconsin Badgers. Donald Willis, the former
Minnesota Golden Gopher, is there to wrap up the running
back coming up on five minutes into the game, no

(10:50):
score is the Badgers convert on fourth and one.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
Nice job by the left side of Wisconsin's offensive line,
and you just love Walker just putting his foot in
the ground, not dance and getting vertical picking up the
first down, really really nicely done.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Two receivers left, one on the right from the forty
six yard line, Wisconsin territory, first and ten, Will Pauling
slot left motions up to the right side. Now on
the slot as Van Dyke gets the staff takes the handoff,
rolls to his left. Van Dyke across the fifty yard
line using his big body and he gets smacked across
midfield of the forty nine of Western Michigan getting over
There was Tate Hallick a safety and Bill Aalkne and

(11:27):
no slide in there for Tyler Van Dyke.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
No, he kept it. Teams are going to force him
to pull that by crashing those ends.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
On second and five. Van Dyke one pup now throws
over the middle and it is incomplete, unable to secure it.
Was Pauling at the forty three yard line of Western Michigan.
The Badgers of a third and five at the Broncos
forty nine yard line, four less just getting.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
Started We'll tell you each catch that every time it's
right there and you know the hits were coming, that'll
that'll be a ball, will Paul. He catches more often
than not.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Third down and five of the Badgers of the forty
nine of Western Michigan. Dinny Anthony Brys and Green come
out to the left to receivers tied to the right
and now Green motioning to the right. On third down
and five shotgun stan Van Dyke pressure coming throwing over
the metal that's caught by Pricing Green inside the forty
driven down at the thirty nine yard line of Western

(12:18):
Michigan by the safety Aaron Wafford. First down again as
the Badger's convert on third down.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
Just using his big body, beating his guy across his
face and picking up the first down. Nice job by Green.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Talk the Ashcraft wing on the left side on first
and ten hand off Tall. We walk her off the
right side inside the thirty five and he's cut down
at the thirty three yard line of Western Michigan on
a gain of six. Second down and four coming up
eight forty five left. First quarter, no score. Good driving
progress with the Badger.

Speaker 6 (12:46):
Blocked up really well on the right side of Wisconsin's
offensive line. Nice job of the tight end coming over,
but nice big hole and then walk her just you
could tell he is looking to punish people when they're
coming up in the hole to try and fill it.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Lucy now in a running back. Three receivers to the left.
You got CJ. Williams out to the right for the
thirty three of Western Michigan. Here's the stampfaking the handoff.
Van Dyke throws a left side cut by Asscraft inside
the twenty five, inside the twenty barrels his way to
about the nineteen yard line. Maybe the eighteen of Western
Michigan is a very impressive methodical drive continuing for the
Badgers as they have entered the kseih red zone the

(13:22):
nineteen yard line.

Speaker 6 (13:23):
Love that, just hold and hold it in really putting
a lot of pressure on Western Michigan's front to read it.
Read it and what he's do. Van deck is doing
a great job of pulling it. He ran one there,
he pulled up, made the nice throw, picked up the
first down.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Will Pauling slot right, CJ. Williams wide to the rights,
first down for the nineteen yard line. Play fake Van
Dyke look shoots it right side end zone and it's
incomplete sales over everybody and no old Badger close to
that Van Dyke pass, and it's second and ten for
the nineteen yard line of Western Michigan. The trip to
the red zone brought to you by kseihs akseih dot

(13:59):
com slash back.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
I certainly hope that was just a missed route combination.
Otherwise that that thing was airmail. It looked like Will
and Van Dyke not on the same page on that
route combination.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Second and ten Wisconsin at the Western Michigan nineteen yard line.
But Lucy, they're running back to the right of the
quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who gets the stamp. He'll give
it to Malusi off the left side, trying to turn it,
but nowhere to go. And you see this gang tackled.
There are about three Broncos there the gain of maybe
one fifteen play drive here continuing full of the Badgers.

(14:32):
At his third down and nine ball placed at the
eighteen of Western Michigan, Lucy stays in. Vinnie Anthony now
in the game, lining up wide to the left, pauling
Nolakowski and brycing Green out to the rights third and eight.
Wisconsin ball at the Broncos eighteen yard line. Vandyke is

(14:53):
the shotgun staff four man rush Tyler looking throws over
the middle and it's charred, loose incomplete good work to
offensively by Donald Willis, sharring and loose Frenchez Malusi and
the Badgers drive stalls at the eighteen. On comes the
field goal team.

Speaker 6 (15:08):
Yeah, that was the case. And I know Wisconsin's offensive
line is ready for a lot of stunting, especially on
third and long. And that was a just a simple
te which is the tackle out and over the top,
and they did not do a very good job of
picking that up. A little bit of pressure ball out
and now we're sitting here going for afield.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Nathaniel Vecos left hash mark thirty six yards away. There's
the stamp ball down. The kick is on the way
and it is no good. So the Badgers with a
promising drive but they come up empty as Vacos missfires
from thirty six yards away. American Family Insurance is the

Yeah, you didn't have them. You didn't even chase him,
you didn't bring it up right. No, we'll kick, so
no announcer blame.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Can't blame me for that. Play me for a lot
of things. Six fifty seven left, first quarter, no score
out of the pistol. Hayden Wolf hands off tail and
Buckley off the right side twenty twenty five yard line
and dragged down by a Hunter Wooler at about the
twenty nine yard line twenty eight or twenty nine yard line.
Second down in short coming up with the Broncos. They'll
mark at the twenty eight of Western Michigan's second and two.

Speaker 6 (18:48):
Yeah, really big hole there, and that's what you're trying
to get done when you're on offense, get to the
second level. Hunter Wooler was the last man standing there
to stop him.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
A week dude on out wide to the rights, shotgun
formation for Wolf takes the stamp, he'll give it the
Buckley gets the first down, hits it up across the
thirty yard line up the right. Hash marks up to
the thirty five at a gain of seven first and ten.
For last year, he's been American Conference frush through the year.
Jalen Buckley the war Illinois five eleven ten pounds from

or make that slot to the right. Now motion's off
to the left. They'll go trips to the left side
of the formation and the thirty five of Western Michigan
first and ten wolf Wull handed Buckley off the left
side across the forty yard line, turns it up north
south and it's covered up at the forty three impressive

(19:42):
run of eight yards is iSER Fort Greene and again
there late to finish up gain of eight second and two.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
Yeah, they're having a lot of success off of their
left side, getting good push and a lot of space
being provided for the tailback. Is you're getting to that
second level, you're feeling pretty good, picking up six seven
in that time eight yards.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Ben Barton cade McDonald of the down Lineman. Now two
receivers left, Linna on the right. Here's Abduced Salam the
ball carrier. You're working off the right side over the
first down across the forty five to the forty six
yard line. So here Abduced Salam, who ran for five
scores last season for Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (20:20):
Yeah, with Thompson getting hurt, obviously, you we've talked a
lot about the outside at some of the talent that
was brought in. That's a big gaping hole in the middle.
And now you're gonna you don't like seeing this this
early because that's that position. The depth there is something
that's going to be in question, Aaron.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
With John piaus in there is outside linebackers double ed
to the left with the Western Michigan forty six yard
line first and ten for forty five left, first quarter,
no score, hand off Jaden Nixon work on the left side,
he gets wrapped up by Jahem Thomas after a short
game a couple of yards to the forty eight of
the Broncos. We're it's second down and eight.

Speaker 6 (20:55):
Yeah, I like that. What defensive coordinator did there? You
Tressell puts his guys out, What kind of mugs the
linebackers up? It disrupts some of that blocking. And just
like throwing the football as a rhythm, so is blocking.
And when you start getting that rhythm, start mixing it
up a little bit, walk up, get the combination, blocks off.
Next job there by Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Anthony Sambucci slot to the right. On second down, Wolf
quick pass white side, caught by Chris Toodle to tight end,
and he gets chopped down at the midfield strike Rustin
Zachman getting in there defensively for the Badgers, a gain
of a couple. It's third down and six. Well. The
Broncos we mentioned earlier there without their leading receiver from
a year ago, Kenneth Womack. He had seventy six catches

(21:34):
last year, but is injured and not playing tonight.

Speaker 6 (21:37):
Love what Rico did there just didn't make the tackle,
but he set it up by not letting his blocker
get him, kept the ball inside, let his guys let
Zachman come down to make a play.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Three receivers right, one on the left here Abdu Salam
is the running back. Third and six Broncos from midfield.
Three and a half minutes left of a scoreless first quarter.
Wolf gets the shotgun snap against the four man rush,
has time, throws right side, high pass dear no one
incomplete intended more or less for Malik du Don. Western
Michigan forced the punts from the fifty.

Speaker 6 (22:11):
A nice job of finding a way to get off
the field. That drive started off really well and looked
as if Western Michigan had something going. And again getting
in the backfield and not letting him stay in normal
down at distance and getting off the field, finding a
way on third down there to get off the field
rushing for That's something we're going to continue to look
for this season.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Ryan Milmore transfer from iowas day to to fifty three
yard pump with a big bounce in his first effort,
second trying out that Anthony is deep. This hangs into
the air, Anthony's going to let it hit inside the five,
and it checks up beautifully for Western Michigan. It'll be
touched up by Josh Franklin. Del Mark got about the
eighth yard line of Wisconsin. So a forty two yard

Scoreless and Madison, Wisconsin a Western Michigan three seventeen left
in the first quarter. A few adjustments to the rules
here this year, one of which includes electronic communication to
a player on the offenser side, likewise on the defensive side.
Let's get more on that as we check in with Patrick.

Speaker 7 (25:18):
Thanks Matt, this is mimicking what you've seen in the NFL.
There's a player on each side of the ball that
has a green sticker on their helmet and they have
helmet communication with the sideline and their coaching staff. Wisconsin
is utilizing it with their quarterbacks, so each of their
three top three quarterbacks have a helmet equipped with that,
so even on the sidelines, they can still hear the
play calling in the communication. On defense, they're utilizing their

(25:40):
middle linebackers, so Jake Cheney when he's in, if he's.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Out of the game, tack and Curtis would have it.

Speaker 7 (25:44):
If he's out, Tyler Janzy would, Hunter Bolders got an
emergency version.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Also.

Speaker 7 (25:49):
What's interesting about the offense though, is how much they're
actually going to use it during the mock game when
they try. When they demoed all these electronics on the sidelines,
Phil Longo didn't use it at all. They were tend
to check to see if it was even working because
he didn't use it.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Now, in his mind, he wants the game to be going.

Speaker 7 (26:05):
So fast when his offense is clicking that he has
no time to communicate.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
He puts his hand signals in and then they snap
the ball.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
So something to kind of keep an eye and if
we ever see Tyler Van Dyke kind of covering his
ears trying to hear a play call, haven't seen it yet.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Tonight Badgrews had an impressive opening drive, but then it's
stalled at the eighteen of the missed field role. They'll
remark the ball they originally had it at the eight.
Now it's at the seven of Wisconsin for Tyler Van
Dyke in company first and ten three seventeen left, first quarter,
no score. Chez Mlucy is in there at running back CJ.

(26:39):
Williams wide lefts Well Pauling in the slot and Brycing
Green out wide to the rights. Lucy to the left
of Van Dyke in the shotgun, who takes a snap
gives them Malucy hits it off the right side of
Coss the ten yard line and pulls through a defender
and gets himself five more yards. That there's a powerful

(27:00):
effort from Chez Malucy on a gain of eight.

Speaker 6 (27:03):
Yeah, really really nice job on the back side again.
You got Chez two or three yards, but then he
ran through an ankle tackle to pick up another three
or four.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
On second and two quick shot right side why to
the target incomplete intended for Bryson Green the twenty yard
line of the near side. The little dangerous past there,
Bill al cone on the coverage and it's third and
two for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (27:25):
Yeah, that almost looked predetermined, and it was, as you
put it, very dangerous, very fortunate there that that ball
just fell into the sideline.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
The Badgers two out of four converting on that first drive.
They also finished or converted a fourth and one in
that opening possession. I'll double wide to the left, two
tight ends of the right side, third and two for
the badge of fifteen yard line. Van Dyke is it
to Mlusy trying to bounce it to his right and
is driven back. It's very close. I think he'll get

(27:58):
the first down. Good by Chez a little bounced to
his right and he earns himself a first down. Isaiah
Green for the defensive line on the stop.

Speaker 6 (28:07):
Yeah, a little bit of penetration up front by Western Michigan.
But what I love there, Chez kept his feet moving,
had to take it and bounce it. And on a
third and short, you don't want a lot of lateral,
you want to get north south. Chez did just enough
there to pick up that first down.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Kay Jacomelli in at running back now first and ten
for the Badgers at their eighteen yard line. Le They
Noah Kowski in motion right to left, lines up winging
the left side is Van Dyke takes the handof look
shooting over the middle and that's cart across a twenty
five yard line and getting popped was Will Pauling by
Tate Hollick right at the stick, which is the twenty
eight yard line of Wisconsin, and they will say first

(28:45):
down for the Badgers. Will have been at fifty seven
left in the opening quarter.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
Yeah, really nice there. Van Dyke tucked it. Waitit look rpo.
Just gotta be careful with those throws over the middle.
You can see him getting eyed up. We want to
make sure Will stays healthy.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Pauling Luke's in motion right to left on first and ten,
Van Dyke over the medal and another pass this time
and it's caught by Riley. You Knowlekowski slides to the
turf at the thirty seven yard line, gain of nine.
He's a quarterbacker who knows he has a strong arm
and I'm not afraid to use it.

Speaker 6 (29:15):
And loving right now. Obviously Phil Ango is seeing the
middle of the field is been open. And when you
have to slow the run game down, you have to
bring people down, safeties down, you have to crash that
middle of the field open. Van Dyke has taken advantage of.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
That falling slot on the right side. On second down,
Here's a handoff Yakamelly off the left side across the
forty forty five yard line KG Yakamelli up near midfield.
First down, Wisconsin boning Banima in their linebacker to make
the play well, saying during camp they have the Malusi
Walker combo two promising freshmen. Don't forget about guys like

(29:49):
Yakamelli and Jackson Aker and Kaid Yakamelli. With a first
down run up to the forty nine of Wisconsin, well.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
No, Noakowski great job is to standing and finishing his block.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
On first down a fake hand off a throw from
Van Dyke right side Paul. He had no chance. He
gets wrapped up right away at midfield. Are many adams
out of the secondary on the tackle gain of just
a yard down to the final half minute. Here in
a scoreless first quarter, second down and nine for Wisconsin,

(30:20):
se j Williams will be wide to the left, will
Pauling slot to the left, rice and Green out to
the rights. The Lakowski wing on the right side. Van
Dyke calls for the ball, gets the stamp four man
rush right side pass caught by Bricing, Green curls inside
and has smacked at about the forty yard line rop
Western Michigan. That'll be a first down with the yard
to spare. And that's how quarter number one will end

(30:42):
in Madison, when the Badgers have had a good drive

they'll want to move with the Broncos forty.

Speaker 6 (34:24):
Yeah, you have to like what Wisconsin is doing their
physical You could see the line of scrimmages getting moved. Yeah.
The running game has been good. Throwing the football, you've
been you know, you pretty dog going good nine to
thirteen so far for Van Dyk. So now it's about
finishing and that has always been something that Luke Fickle
has been pounding. Now would be a great time to
start that.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
The double tight ends Riley Nolakowski and Tucker ashcrafts chews
Mlucy the running back Badgers go right to left. As
we see it in quarter number two, snapped the Vandyke.
He'll hand off the Malusy right up the right side
hash marks, and he will slam his way inside the
thirty five yard line of Western Michigan on a game
of five plus change checking down four, Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (35:06):
Great job there again, Noaikowski pulling, Brunner, pulling and kicking
their guys out, and then get love the north South,
get vertical with your run game.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Second down, about four and a half to go, Vandyke
takes the hand off the Malusi, shoots it right side
and it buzzes through the hands of CJ. Williams trying
to lay out near the twenty five of the far
side and complete pass. Third down on the long four.
We'll call it for Wisconsin, just outside the thirty four
of Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (35:31):
That's just an RPO and they literally ran the exact
same play. Pulled the guard pulled Nowakowski. Van Dyke decided
to take the one on one option and just missed
the throw.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Three receivers left one on the rights and Lucy remains
the running back. On third down four Wisconsin, Van Dyke
gets the staff, he'll pull it down, he'll try to
run it. He'll get the first down diving to the
thirty yard line. Not the best spot, ever, I don't
think they're going to put it right at the thirty.
That should be good enough for a first down Tyler
van Dyke. If you heard the interview, he said, yeah,

(36:01):
maybe people underestimate my speed. And he wasn't laughing when
he said it. He did what he had to do
there to get the first down.

Speaker 6 (36:08):
No, you could tell that's a little bit of a
sore point for I had a discussion with him also,
and he made sure to let you know he can run.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
Now.

Speaker 6 (36:16):
That was a nice pickup. Not a great spot, but.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
A first down at the thirty yard line and a
hand off to Mulusi and he gets drilled but gets
off the defender and is able to get two or
three yards out of nothing. Oh a lot of will
to go with the skill on that run from Chez Mulusy,
who was able to slice and dice, who his way
to the twenty seven to Western Michigan a gain of three.

Speaker 6 (36:37):
Yeah, he's just not letting one guy bring him down.
There's guys had his ankles and kind of scrapping with him,
and he is not just letting one player bring him down.
He continues to churn his legs that was blocked for
no gain and ended up fighting and scratching to get
two yards.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Donald Willis the former Gopher who could not bring him down, though.

(39:35):
As we sent it down to Patrick, we.

Speaker 7 (39:36):
Haven't seen the transfer running back from Oklahoma at all
on this drive. After seeing him quite a bit on
Drive one, it's been all chez lucy here in this drive,
Walker was on the sidelin. It's just kind of testing
things out, running a little bit behind the bench.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
But he is up. He's available to return to this game.
So good news from Wisconsin's bench as if you're just
checking us out here tonight. He has been one impressive dude.
Has any tellt Dick what.

Speaker 6 (39:59):
You really love is you bring that physicality And obviously
Brayleen Allen brought that last year and I really think
Chez brings out a whole different dynamic. And when he
was lost for the season last year, I think that
kind of changed to things go. So if you can
have that one two punch where Walker is the physical
hammer and you're able to use Chess in some different ways,

(40:20):
you see that Wisconsin has got a lot of different guys.
They want to keep guys fresh, they want this running game.
You're going to see more and more of it. But
when Walker has been in there, you notice that pile
is moving forward. He is definitely bringing that physicality back
to what we're doing up front.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
Lance Taylor, the head coach of Western Michigan, using had
time out. This is year two for him as a
coach of that program. It's been the offensive coordinator with
Louisville a couple of years ago and spent some time
at Stanford. Is a running backs coach. A couple of
pretty good backs he worked with, including Christian McCaffery.

Speaker 6 (40:55):
Yeah, he's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
He was okay, still is all right? Ready to zoom
play at second down at eight of the twenty eight
yard line. Walker in there now, which shows Malucy. They're
flanking the quarterback Tyler Vandyke. Wallydowakowski slot to the left
and the step the Vandyke he will pull it works
off the right side, has the edge twenty five yard line,
gets bumped to the turf bight Tate Hollick at the

(41:18):
twenty one yard line and the former or the former
Michigan State spartan. That's right, Tate Hollick on the stop
though Mark just inside the twenty two yard line. It's
the third down, about a yard and a half to
go for Wisconsin and.

Speaker 6 (41:32):
Western Michigan is doing what I would definitely do is
let's see. Vandyke has talked about wanting to run a
little bit more, and that's Phil Longo style. You're gonna
have to do that. You're gonna crash those ends. You
have to make that right read he did. He was
able to get out in space and pick up a
quick five or six yards.

Speaker 3 (41:48):
All right, here we go, third down and short. JT. C.
Grease lot left motions right, comes back the other way,
single back offense. Van Dyke, we'll give it to Mlucy
hits the line and messing around, going north out getting
the first down inside that twenty and down to the
nineteen yard line. This trip of the red zone brought
to you by case IH is a caseih dot com
slash badgers.

Speaker 6 (42:09):
Yeah, love love just the inside there. You you don't
need to pile drive and move guy six or seven yards,
cover guys up, don't get don't allow any penetration. When
it's a short yard at play like that, you let
your running back get his feet to the line of scrimmage.
You fall forward, you pick up a couple of yards,
you move on, get that next set of downs.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
So go empty in the backfield, Chez but Lucy's slot
to the rights. Three receivers out to the left, well
the nineteen yard line of Western Michigan first and ten
four Wisconsin snapped the Van Dyke pressure come and Tyler
throws tipped in the air and it's incomplete. They were
bringing heat on Van Dyke. Maascot deflected falls harmlessly to
the turf, and it's second and ten Wisconsin. At the Western,

(42:51):
Michigan nineteen yard line.

Speaker 6 (42:52):
Yeah, that was the case. And I don't know if
the protection didn't make the proper adjustment, but that either
has to come out hot. You had one more guy
coming off the left side, there was no one blocking him,
and Vandyke luckily got rid of the ball and it
didn't end up getting picked. When any time a ball
gets tipped, Oh little targeting action.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
Yep there, Yep, there's going to be a review here
a potential targeting call as that pass went off either
Rodney mcgrawll Fanserd and Louisville in the defensive line, or
may have gone off on the batcher's offensive linemen. With
Jacob Wahlberg one of the leaders of the defense, they're

(43:36):
checking to see and he got he got Van Dyke,
he lowered his head and got Vandyke on a face mask.
And Jacob Wahlberg a good linebacker, fifth year senior at
a muskeg in Michigan, and he could be on the
hook for an ejection right here his air reviewing what
they think could be targeting against the linebacker for the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (43:57):
Yeah, you know, I think guys get so excited when
they're in a loop or if nobody picks you up,
you want to go and get the quarterback. And that
was the case. You know a lot of times these
are accidental, and this he saw it, but he buried
his head and you have to I don't care what
level of football eyes up he did not. He led,
and he led with the crown of his helmets right

(44:18):
into the face mask of Van Dyke. That should be
an ejection. Now, whether or not you want to think
that that should be an ejection that those are the rules,
and I think it's going to be. That call is
going to hold up.

Speaker 3 (44:29):
All right, we'll hear the voice of Greg Sue Jack,
the referee. They have concluded the review back with the.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
Headquarters number eight on Western Michigan committed targeting by hitting
the quarterback in the head with a defensive player half
the dition for the goal first and goal number eight
is qualified.

Speaker 3 (44:53):
I feel like we say this every year and you
get the player's safety element here, but I just wish
there wasn't an injection.

Speaker 6 (45:00):
Yeah, it's it's two peela, and I understand it. I
love the fact that both the professional game in the
collegiate game has taken player safety a lot more serious.
But I do think that is incredibly peel. I don't
think that wasn't uber malicious. That was just a guy
that his eyes got big. He buried his head and
now he's going to be out for the rest.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
Of the games. Now, first in goal at the nine.
We're three minutes into the second quarter, no score, double
tight ends Ashcraft on the left, Nolakowski on the right,
the Lucy the running back pistol formation. Van Dyke thicks
the handoff, rolls off to his right, looking throwing right
side inside in complete intended for will pauling Rubert tightly.

(45:40):
Armani Adams was back there defensively and it's second in
goal from the nine.

Speaker 6 (45:46):
Yeah, just a little easy boot leg and they took
away the tight end on the over on the drag
route and Will Paul pretty good coverage there. But Van
deck didn't lead him, and I think had he led him,
he had a step. He threw it a little bit
behind him and that allowed the defender to knock it
away and not score.

Speaker 3 (46:02):
The touchdown trips to the left on second and goal
from the nine of Western Michigan. Malucy is the running
back to the right of Vandyck. Takes the stamp. You'll
hand the m lucy straight ahead inside the five, turning
those legs down to the wood. Is he in?

Speaker 4 (46:18):
Yes, he is touchdown Wisconsin. Chez Mlucy fights his way
into the end zone for the first score of the season.

Speaker 6 (46:30):
A fantastic job by Huper pulled the right guard, pulled Malmont, pulled, kickout, kickout,
and then again. This has been a recurring theme for
Chez Mlucy. Tonight, he picked up what was blocked and
then he grabbed the extra two yards to get in.
All on will. He was stopped about the two yard line.
He was not gonna go down. He uses his hand

drives of this game. They lead time of possession thirteen
oh one to five eleven for Western Michigan, and that's
a little change from a year ago. Wisconsin actually had
a deficit in time of possession for the first time
in a long time with this program. Clearly there's reasons

(49:48):
with the hurry up offense, but we go back to
that hunter be hunted mentality. Wisconsin wanted to be the aggressor.
They wanted to force their will and if this is
an indication this ball control, seems like.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
They're doing that so far. Gotta love that touse, that
kind of run, that kind of effort at all concerned.
But what Chez did on that touchdown run that was
a big time.

Speaker 6 (50:10):
Well, you just love what you're seeing up front. There's
a lot of space and the running backs are getting
to that next level and they're not getting brought down
by one guy. And Chez has been fantastic running through
ankle tackles, not allowing one guy to bring him down,
forcing the entire team to come and get him. So
I think this is how other than obviously coming away

(50:30):
on that first drap without any points, I don't think
you could draw this up any better. You want to
wear out this football team, and that is what Wisconsin
is doing right now.

Speaker 3 (50:39):
Davin Lom said, to kick off Jaden Nixon is deep
for Western Michigan. Early second quarter. It's seven nothing Wisconsin
bomb with the kick high end over end Nixon waits
for he'll catch Whites out at the two. He is
to the five with the right hashmark ten fifteen across
the twenty yard line that has taken down by Groover
Bortol Lottie on kick coverage for which at the twenty

(51:01):
two yard line, Western Michigan Territory a.

Speaker 6 (51:04):
Great job of squeezing down and not giving any alleyways.
And again you could put a sense just talking to
some coaches special teams at kick return that is always
something you're worried about in that first game.

Sconsin Volleyball's headed to Milwaukee to take on Texas in
a rematch of last year's semi final matchup, as well
as the Stanford Cardinal. The two day volleyball Showcase we'll
start on Sunday, September first to five served forums. Here
are your seats at ticketmaster dot com and cheer on
Badger volleyball in Milwaukee. Eleven forty two left of the
first half, seven nothing Wisconsin. Western Michigan back on offense,

(53:48):
starting at the Broncos twenty two yard line. Jadon Nixon
in there at running back a pistol formation. They come
out double ye to the left as Hayden Wolf hands
it to Nixon, works off the left side across a
twenty five yard line and he's taken down by Christin
a legro sophomore inside linebacker. Gain of about four for
Nixon to the twenty six yard line Bronco's territory.

Speaker 6 (54:09):
Western Michigan's doing a nice job. I know their time
of possession is not there. They're not getting the same
amount of plays, but when they've been running the football.
They've been very effective. They're getting pretty good push against
Wisconsin's d line so far.

Speaker 3 (54:22):
Jordan Parker, transfer receiver from New Mexico State, comes out
to the left, Anthony Sambucci to the right, crystal formation,
Nixon behind his quarterback Hayden Wolf and a time out
taken again by Western Michigan. That's the second timeout one
remains or Lance Taylor'll keep it here. With eleven zero
four left in the first half, it's seven to nothing Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (54:46):
And I think you're starting to kind of see Wisconsin.
This is a little almost like a reminder of the
old days where it's a physicality. Time of possession, of
Patrick mentioned last year is one of the first times
in forever that was there was deficit when it comes
to town possession. But this when you're playing a school
and a team, and I know Wisconsin is a big
favorite in this game, this is what you want to do.

(55:08):
You want to impose that will, you want to get it.
And now this is where we talk complimentary football. You
have a long drive. You know their defense is tired.
Now your defense, get these guys off the field, make
them get back out there and keep testing their will.
When you're driving the football like Wisconsin has been doing.

Speaker 3 (55:27):
A two man defensive line. You got Ben Barton and
Elijah Hills, senior transfer from Albany out there for Wisconsin.
On second down, Wolf of the play fake back to throw,
has time short pass right side Nickson. The catch costs
a thirty up the sideline thirty five yard line and
gets pulled out of the bounds by the safety Austin
Brown at the thirty seven of the year's side Western
Michigan territory. And that's a first down for the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (55:48):
Yeah, just good play action pass and as I said,
they're having some success running the football, so you really
selling the offensive line did a great job of keeping
their head or their hats down. That lowed the linebackers
kind of suck up a little bit, gave you a
little space in Western Michigan.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
The first down r J. Delancey corner for Wisconsin, a
field corner transferred from Toledo. On first down, here's Jalen
Buckley getting the hand off straight ahead for a couple
of yards. It's all he's able to squeeze out of it.
Ben Parton getting in there defensively for the Badgers, and
it's second down and about eight or the Western Michigan Broncos.

Speaker 6 (56:23):
Yeah, great job by Barton, just not allowing his guy.
He stayed in his gap. He had kept that integrity
and didn't allow him a two way go and was
able to get make a play for a one yard game,
which to.

Speaker 3 (56:35):
The legro getting in there as well. Second down, just
shy the thirty nine yard line Western Michigan territory, third
or second down rather and a long eight shotgun snapped
the wolf pressured by Zackman and wide open Buckley across
the fifty to forty five forty down the near sideline
and he gets banged out of bounds by a Hunter
Wohler at the thirty seven yard line over Wisconsin. So

(56:57):
they brought the safety Preston Zackman in and wide open
was Jalen Buckley in a big play for Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (57:03):
Yeah, just a great raid off the right side. The
quarterback saw that there was pressure coming, he was able
to put a little touch on it. Beautiful play call,
well executed. That's one where you say, hey, you out
you out schemed us on that play.

Speaker 3 (57:17):
Twenty four yard game for Western Michigan, nine and a
half minutes left and a half seven nothing Wisconsin Broncos
on the move Buckley the running back, Jordan Parker the receiver,
motions right to left from the thirty seven yard line
was contin territory. Wolf gives it a Buckley little jump
cut to his left and has stood up inside the
thirty five of Wisconsin. Allegro getting there Barton as well.

(57:39):
Gain of about three for Jalen Buckley. Second down and
seven with the thirty four yard line, Wisconsin territory.

Speaker 6 (57:46):
You said, Matt really good jump cut there by Buckley.
You can see why Western Michigan likes him. He has
a good ball skills out of the backfield. It makes
nice reads and cuts in and is getting north and
south as well, picking up a couple of hard yards there.

Speaker 3 (58:00):
Jordan Parker, Devon Mortimer will come out to the left.
Mortimer in the slot. Anthony Sambucci is out to the right,
luckily is the running back. Second down and seven for
the Badger's thirty four yard line. Sambouci in motion right
to left. Wolf brings his hands together, takes the stamp
Badger's rushing four. Wolf shoots it left side and it
is in completely the twenty yard line. Good coverage from

(58:21):
Hunter Wohler. Blanket coverage as a matter of fact, on
Mortimer incomplete passes. It's third and seven at the Wisconsin
thirty four.

Speaker 6 (58:30):
Western Michigan's coaches are going ballistic on the side, thinking
Hunter Wohler got there a little bit early, but like
you said, really good coverage. Yeah, I'm alright with the
no call. I'm alright with that no call. But they
could have this seven side. The Hunter did get there
maybe a smidge early.

Speaker 3 (58:49):
Third down and seven, Western Michigan at the Wisconsin thirty
four yard line. Broncos zero for two on third down
so far tonight. Three receivers to the left, So who's Salaam?
So do salom is the running back? At a throw
to the left, it's caught by Mortimer, makes one man miss,
gets outside the thirty yard line, and it's chased out
of bounce by Hunter Waller at the twenty sixth of Wisconsin.

(59:11):
Devon Mortimer getting some work done after the catch at
a third and seven conversion for Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (59:18):
And that's always one of the things you're worried about
early in the season when you're not going full kilt
on tackling open field tackle, you make the play, you
get off the field, you miss. They pick up a first.

Speaker 3 (59:29):
Down for the twenty six of Wisconsin. Jaden Nixon. Now
they're running back and a little end around Jordan Parker
room up the right side of the twenty five yard
line and he gets cut down by Nisier for Karen
at the twenty one of Wisconsin on a game of five.

Speaker 6 (59:47):
Yeah, a little tricker ration there, quarterback, I stood there,
work at his ball skills, and yeah, that's where you're
forced from a defensive standpoint, you're getting gashed a little bit.
You're getting some things you're gonna get over. You're gonna
pursuit much. That's what Western Michigan was banking on, and
they picked up a quick five on that.

Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
Two backs on the field for Western Michigan at the
twenty one yard line of Wisconsin and the handoff tou
is the here Abduce Salam off the right side inside
the twenty yard line gets popped to the turf at
the fourteen of Wisconsin by Jake Cheney. Another first down
for Western Michigan is the Broncos threatening to get in
for the first time seven thirteen left in the half,
seven nothing Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:00:25):
That great job by Western Michigan's right side of their
offensive line. There. Sherwin did a fantastic job of helping
on the down side and then getting up on that
linebacker and continuing to push and pushing. That allowed the
nice long first down run see here.

Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
Abduce Salam the running back pistol formation receivers right and
the lefts is Heyden. Wolf takes the stamp, gets it
to Abduced Salam, works the left side and gets wrapped
up quickly again of maybe a yard. Ben Barton getting
in there defensively for the Badgers second down and nine
for lebron coach.

Speaker 6 (01:01:01):
You just love what Barton does it Greing. He just
he's not gonna be the sexiest player. What he's gonna
do is he's gonna control his gap. He's going to
allow the linebackers to flow and keep their guy, the
guards and tackle combinations off of his linebacks.

Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
He's down to nine for the thirteen under center. Wolf
takes a stamp, takes the handoff, throws right, caught bobble
gathered by Blake bo'smother tied end and he gets taken
out of bounds by Cad McDonald and r J. Delancey
and very close to a first down here, though, Mark,
it looks like at the six it'll be a third

(01:01:36):
down and two or Western Michigan. Big play coming up
here for the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (01:01:43):
This has been a really nice drive by Western Michigan.
We're hoping get off the field make Western Michigan's defense,
but Western Michigan answered the bell here and it's kind
of head Wisconsin's defense guessing what was what's happening.

Speaker 3 (01:01:55):
Luckiley is the running back. Third down in two for
the Wisconsin six yard line. Here's the hand off the
Buckley up the right Hashmark gets the first down and
drives down just shy of the goal line. Inside the
one goes Jalen Buckley get his first in goal for
Western Michigan. With five and a half minutes left and
the half seven nothing.

Speaker 6 (01:02:13):
Wisconsin a great run and again up front Western Michigan.
Their tight end comes down and washes his guy down
and Buckley just continues. He's pushing harp getting north and south,
picking up the first down and luckily Wisconsin held him
out of the end zone.

Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
First and goal inside the one yard line. Buckley's still
in there at running back. They go heavy on the right.
Here's the handoff the Buckley and he gets stoned by
Jahen Thomas. We Padger's inside linebacker, crashing into the fray.
Nothing doing for Buckley and its second in goal for
the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (01:02:48):
Yeah, a lot of bodies down right down on the
goal line, everything low pads and everything else. And that's
Thomas just standing there and it's that is not the
easiest thing. His feet are actually in the end zone,
allowing Buckley to push his way through. And you never
know which play is going to be the one. You
just don't give in here until until happens.

Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
Full house backfield here for Western Michigan. Wolf takes a
Sam hand off right side Nixon, No Sir, stop short
by Leon Lowry. Third and goal, Western Michigan. The whole school,
full house backfield on that second down attempts.

Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
Yeah, they tried instead of going north south, they tried
to go a little bit later all and Wisconsin got
a little push And now it's getting interesting. What you'd
think was gonna be an easy walk in. Now Wisconsin's
bowing up.

Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
Full house backfield again. Third and goal inside the one
yard line. Snapped the Wolf little boot to the left,
trying to get outside Waller and dive into the end zone. No,
they say he's short, and you can count on a
second look from upstairs there very very close to breaking
the plane of the goal line.

Speaker 6 (01:04:04):
What a job by Hunter Wohller there because you knew
you get stopped a couple of times stopped at the
one adopt him short, but Hunter Woller to stay home
and to read that did a great job and then
to get him down at least we hope that they
got him down short of the goal line.

Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Well, I tell you what, they've got the ball that
knows of the ball just shy of the goal line.
It looked like they might have been one.

Speaker 6 (01:04:28):
Probably you're gonna probably challenge this year. Right before I
would think, or just take the time.

Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
Out of time out taking here with three to zho
five left of the half of the Badgers, the guys
like Kurt Neil, Cade McDonald, Ben Barton, Elijah Hills, as
well as true freshman Dylan Johnson out of Plainfield, Illinois,
a four time state wrestling champ. The fickle on the staff.
They love this guy, Ben Barton talking with him earlier

(01:04:56):
this week. So this is one of the strongest dudes
I've ever been around. They get the true freshman in
there in a goal line situation. Let's pause ten seconds

five left and a half seven nothing Wisconsant. This is

Five left to the first half seven uhing Wisconsin leading
Western Michigan sixteen plays so far on this drive for
the Western Michigan Broncos Hunkser Wohler with a big time

(01:06:59):
starf the quarterback Hayden Wolf. They have spotted the ball
now about a half yard from the goal line. It
is fourth in goal for Western Michigan. The Badger's trying
to come up with a goal line stand here in
the second quarter.

Speaker 6 (01:07:15):
Yeah, you saw that. If you stop a guy and
it gets to the one yard lance first and goal
and you think okay, and then you make the next stop.
And that was the case where obviously Western Michigan was
assuming bet Hayden Wolf was going to have a walk in.
Well Hunter Willer reads it. That is not the easiest
thing because you always want to get your nose in
there and then to get him down. Great play by Hunter.

Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Here we go, shotgun formation, now fourth and goal, half
yard away, hand up Buckley and it's stopped. Play it
stopped as the Badgers take a time out just before
the snap and Buckley got tagged, but the play was
dead just before the snap. So Luke Fickle using a timeout. Man,

(01:08:00):
that's the first charge timeout for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:08:03):
Yeah, that's one of those where you want to see
what they're lining up, what they're do. You want to
go right up until it. And I bet if Luke
Vicker could do it again, he probably say, I know,
we're good, We'll just take the stop. But so you
see that, now you get that little game of cat
and mouse? All right, what are we gonna do here?
You have to assume that Western Michigan, even though they've
been stopped now on three straight times, and really that

(01:08:24):
would have been a fourth. Do you wonder are they
gonna stick with it and try to pound it or
are they going to try and run a boot leg
getting their quarterback out in space. That's the little chess
matchup that we got called.

Speaker 3 (01:08:35):
Jalen Buckley is the running back, fourth and goal, Western
Michigan a half yard away Buckley. To the right of
the quarterback in the shotgun is Hayden Wolf. As we
are ready to roll here with Tampa Randall Stadium's snap,
here's the handoff Buckley drive into the goal line and
there's no signal yet. Now there is touchdown Western Michigan.
Jalen Buckley able to fight his way across the goal line,

(01:09:00):
and now the Broncos an extra point away from tying
the game late to the second quarter.

Speaker 6 (01:09:05):
Just an impressive drive and good fortitude to stick there.
That just low man kept his feet moving and Barton
was right down there at the on the kind of
the bottom of that pile, unfortunately, was unable to stop him.
Just before he crawled into the end zone.

Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Palmer Domski is on for the pat three two left
in the half as Western Michigan looking to tie this
game at seven, big time drive for the Broncos. He's

(01:09:42):
the kick is away and this game is tied. So
that turned into a sixteen play drive seventy eight yards,
took eight minutes in forty seconds. Well hold it here
with three to two left in the half. The Badgers seven,
the Broncos seven. What an impressive drive here for Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (01:10:07):
Yeah, I don't know what is going on with the
number sixteen, but everything has been sixteen plays, sixteen play
drive by Wisconsin, no points, sixteen play drive, touchdown and
then that. The disappointing part here for me is you
want to go and you're you're a team, you're favored.
You know that Western Michigan's defense is real, and thirty
two plays in the first you know, the first couple

(01:10:28):
of drives a bunch of time, and in physical you
get off the field. And that's a case where you
can bury a team. And to Western Michigan's credit, they've
been very good upfront. They're running the ball very effectively,
they're mixing match and doing some nice stuff. And they
answered the bell where you hoped Wisconsin had maybe a
knockout punch, that was not the case. They withstood that.

(01:10:51):
And now it's Wisconsin's turn on offense. You have three minutes.
You got plenty of time. Go down here, get some
points here before the half.

Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
Badgers have two time out available. Western Michigan has used
them all. Now, remember this year in college football there
is the two minute timeouts. It is what we refer
to normally as a two minute warning in the NFL.
The terminology in college football is the two minute time out.

Speaker 6 (01:11:15):
Why is that just for fun, just to different the
two minute timeout? Yeah, I think they want to lengthen games.
They want to continue to confide with to get other stuff.
I actually like that. I like the uniformity of that.
I think it adds a little more drama and it
forces you to think even that much more about how
you're going to put because the end of halves and

(01:11:36):
then starting out you get the two for Some people
call it that's how I think you separate yourselves with
how you finish halves and how you start out. And
Wisconsin's in a position to be able to do that.

Speaker 3 (01:11:47):
The Wisconsin Apartment of Transportation reminds you to always drive
sobers zero in Wiscontent together we could save lives. Learn
more at zero in Wisconsin dot gov. The Badgers will
be getting their third possession coming up here. Two possessions
first two weeks, sixteen plays. Western Michigan just finished possession

(01:12:08):
number three. It's almost like a game against armies. You
know where you're gonna get maybe six or seven cracks
at it all night long.

Speaker 6 (01:12:15):
Well, they know we're a little older, they know, hey,
let's get this game moving. You you start at eight o'clock.
You I love the fact that here's this will be
interesting to watch now because you have three minutes. Wisconsin
is it's almost it's not reverting back, but that physical
run the football. You still have time. And now with
this two minute whatever you want to call it, you

(01:12:35):
have plenty of time. Don't get to the point where
you have to rush and do things that are out
of character. What you're doing is working. Stick with that
and just continue to be efficient with what you're calling offensively,
because so far, so good with what Phil Longo is
dialing up.

Speaker 3 (01:12:52):
Trench Kekahuna is D four, Wisconsin, and I'm so.

Speaker 6 (01:13:01):
Everybody wants to be in that single digit. They said
it makes you faster.

Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
He's a lot faster. Went from like a four to
four to a four to two. Didn't He had himself
a good ball game did Tretch saw him wait in
the season coming back from injury, helping his team, showed
up well down in Tampa. Maintained his red shirt status,

(01:13:28):
by the way, so he was a red shirt flushman
from Hawaii. Tomsky on the approach kick is in the air,
waiting for it his keka huna and three yards deep
coming out right side of the five to the ten
fifteen yard line. Not a good decision as he gets
carved up across the fifteen of the sixteen yard line,

(01:13:48):
got a little eager there and paid the price to
fifty eight left and the half and Garry Alvarez for
all those years talked about the pendulum. Oh bull bow
is on western missions side right now.

Speaker 6 (01:14:01):
It definitely is. And that's it.

Speaker 14 (01:14:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:14:03):
I like the fact that is thinking big. He wants
to make those plays. But sometimes especially with the kickoff, Yeah,
you have to be smart. And now you put your
team in a hole here starting at the sixteen yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
Where Jacob Wahlberg, their middle linebacker, ejected on the last
Wisconsin possession for targeting. Dominic Moon, a transfer from Purdue,
will get increased playing time. On first down, quick throw
Van Dyke in a rolling catch made across the twenty
yard line to the twenty four. That's Bricing Green makes
the catch, goes to the turf of the twenty four
in a gain of eight. Second down and two to

(01:14:39):
forty five. Left of the half, Wisconsin and Western Michigan
are tied at seven. Will Pauling slot rights Tallwee. Walker
is the running back Riley Noykowski wing on the left side,
and you know Pauling will jog in motion to the left.
Here's a handoff Walker across the twenty five. You'll get
the first down the twenty eight eight yard line. Boon Banema.

(01:15:01):
They're defensively the linebacker for Western Michigan. First in ten
for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:15:06):
Not in a rush. At some point your urgency level
is going to have to go. But picking up that
first first out is always critical. It gets the defense
on its heels a little bit and gets your momentum
going in the right direction.

Speaker 3 (01:15:18):
Two roll five in counting left in the first half.
First and ten Badgers their own twenty eight yard line.
Vandyken's off to Walker across the thirty yard line, driving
those feed up to the thirty four to thirty five
yard line. And now we hit the two minute time out,
actually a minute fifty six to be exact. Left in
the first half was Continent in Western Michigan, tied at seven.
We're back in one minute. This is Badger football from

(01:15:39):
lear Field.

Back to school can be chaotic, and Cohles knows that
finding what they need for a great years should be
one thing that's easy. That's why you could find a
plus fully centrals all for a great price. But back
to school stirs up the unexpected. Its time to hit back,
so coals a minute fifty six left of the first half.
Wisconsin seven, Western Michigan seven. I'm going off the two

(01:17:05):
minute time out. Now the Badgers with two timeouts if
they're all available, second and four for the Badgers, they're
own thirty four yard line.

Speaker 6 (01:17:12):
Yeah, plenty of time here. And I love that there
you go right up until the two minute whatever we
want to call it. I'm gonna say warning incorrect me
if I'm wrong. But I just love the physicality again
and continuing to move the pile. There's just there's just
something about when you see the legs turning and the
linemen kind of rugby style, getting behind and pushing and

(01:17:32):
you get yourself in a nice second at four. And
now I think is when you really go into that
two minute we got to be a little quicker, a
little more tempo than even what Phil Longo normally goes with.

Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
So just to be clear, you're not digging the.

Speaker 6 (01:17:45):
Two minute times just I mean two minute timeout. It's
a warning that there's only two minutes left. You know,
if you want to take the time out with it, great.
I am an old stickler. I'm gonna stick with a
warning on that and we'll just go with that.

Speaker 3 (01:18:00):
You know, I would tell you you're not gonna believe me.
But when they put this in, I think a lot
of people thought it's just an extra commercial. But they say, no,
they're just saving one for that, so they did not
add extra commercials. You buy that, Oh, I believe everything.

Speaker 6 (01:18:14):
I wouldn't. I wouldn't believe that if I was you.

Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
But when did you got such a senate?

Speaker 6 (01:18:21):
You got that youthful naivete? Yet I do, I do that,
we all that's why we all love you so much.
Youthful naivete?

Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
When did you become so cynical?

Speaker 6 (01:18:30):
I'm just hunbelievable reality reality.

Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Okay, that's why I tell my wife I'm a realist,
and she says, no, that means you're a pessivist.

Speaker 32 (01:18:42):
Hit.

Speaker 6 (01:18:43):
We have not seen any real shots yet so far.
I know it's been pounded and hammer but it's been
a good time to take one.

Speaker 3 (01:18:50):
So we walk her the running back. Two receivers right
went on the left of the thirty four of Wisconsin,
handoff Walker working off the left edge across the forty
yard line top. We walk her up to the forty
two yard line. Corey Walker defensive end of the tackle.
It will stop the clock to move the sticks and
then at fifty left for the first half, first and
ten for the Badgers are on forty two yard line.
Now Van Dyke gets him back on the ball. Two

(01:19:12):
receivers right, one on the lefts Walker's still in there.
At running back, Van Dyke calmly barks out the signals
he'll shift Walker to the left of the quarterback takes
the snamp hand off Walker off the right side across
the forty five yard line up to about the forty
seven Isaiah Green defensive tackle on the stop gain of
five clock running hi minute twenty two left and the

(01:19:33):
half tied at seven. Shunt it down in five for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:19:38):
Very methodical and continuing to pound the football. I really
love what I'm seeing from the tight ends in the
block game today. Really done a nice job of secure in.

Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
Edges Pauling slot to the right from the forty seven
of Wisconsin. Second down and five, Van Dyke takes the staff,
looks to throw fires over the middle, that's caught by Polling,
turns it up inside the forty yard line and is
driven back in down the forty yard line. Josh Franklin,
Aaron Wafford out of the secondary. They'll mark it. The
forty clock stops fifty five seconds left of the half.

(01:20:08):
Houston ten for the badgeries ball at the forty yard line,
Western Michigan Territory. Three receivers right, one to the left.
Van Dyke shotgun snap, looking to throw looking right, winds
it up, fires to the right and that is clut
tight up to the sideline is Bryce and Green inside
the thirty and to the twenty nine of the farth side.
First down Wisconsin on a gain of eleven with forty
two seconds left to the half.

Speaker 6 (01:20:27):
And that's that arm strength that we talk about and
everybody's been here and far Hash slides his feet a
little bit, but to the far boundary and throw it
exactly where he needed to for Green to make that catch.

Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
Right now wide to the right. You got Pauling Ashcraft
and Vinnie Anthony to the left. I'll tell we walk
her slot on the right side, empty backfield, forty two
seconds left to the half, tied at seven, ball to
the twenty nine yard line, Western Michigan Territory, chest high
snap back to the Van Dyke looks pop fly deep
down the right side line for Green incomplete. Bill alkonay

(01:21:01):
on the coverage down the right side line inside the
five yard line, all over thrown second and ten of
the twenty nine of Western Michigan with thirty seven seconds
left in the half.

Speaker 6 (01:21:11):
And there's a shot, a pretty good coverage, a little grabbage,
but I don't think it's anything that you could call
and just try to flutter it up there, giving his
guy a shot. Ball harmlessly falls to the turf.

Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
Three receivers left, one on the right. So the twenty
nine yard line of Western Michigan sega down in ten days.
Van Dyke gets the stamp back to throw looking sets
shoots it to the left and a diving cat incomplete
rather intended for Tucker Ashcraft at the twenty seven yard
line of on ear side, Josh Franklin on the coverage,

(01:21:47):
and the clock will stop with thirty two seconds left
and the half third and ten full of Badgers. We'll
tell you that Jackson acres the running back of that
last place, stays in the game. Your pass protector does
a lot of things, well, you should say for this team.
And in there now three receivers left, one on the
right big third and ten for Wisconsin ball at the

(01:22:08):
Western Michigan twenty nine yard line, tied at seven. In
the final thirty two seconds of the first half. Van
Dyke gets the stamp pressure coming. Tyler, looking flushed to
his right, throws editors cut by Ketcher, dropped by Kecker.
Caught it, check it. He did catch it at the
fifteen yard line as Van Dyke was falling down, got

(01:22:30):
the ball out of his hands. Terrific play by Van Dyke.
Badger's taking a time out with twenty four seconds left
in the first half. Well, at first I wasn't positive
that Keka Huda has secured it, but he sure did. Terrific.

Speaker 6 (01:22:45):
What yeah, and a really good job by Vandyke. That
was not you know, him being super elusive. That was
him keeping his eyes down the field. Western Michigan ended
up kind of beating Wisconsin's offensive line with a pressure.
The linebacker or safety comes up and whips at his
feet and as he's fallen to the turfy seas, Trek
makes a pretty dog one good throw and then a

(01:23:08):
little juggling, but he was able to secure it and
pick up a critical first down to keep this drive going.

Speaker 3 (01:23:13):
Badger's using their second timeout, one remains for Luke Fickle.
Twenty four seconds left in the half. We are tied
at seven here in Madison.

Speaker 6 (01:23:22):
You're seeing Western Michigan do and Wisconsin new and you're
getting these third down situations, a lot of stunts line games,
and they're bringing pressure and they've been pretty effective at
getting back into Van Dyke's face. That was again, I
know he's talked a lot about it. That elusiveness in
the pocket, the mobility you're gonna get tested. He was

(01:23:44):
able to keep his feet long enough to deliver a
really good throw under some pretty tough circumstance.

Speaker 3 (01:23:51):
A right Badger's back into the case ih red zone
of the sixteen yard line Western Michigan. First and ten
three receivers bunch to the right, CJ. Williams out to
the left, Walker Is the running back snapped the Van
Dyke looks to throw back pedal. Standing at the twenty
nine yard line, floats a deep left side end zone
incomplete intended for Tucker Ashcraft deep left corner of the
end zone. Seventeen seconds left of the half second and

(01:24:13):
ten Wisconsin at the sixteen yard line of Western Michigan.
This trip to the red zone brought to you by
Kseih was at kseih dot com slash Badgers.

Speaker 6 (01:24:22):
I know I shouldn't do this and it's not a jinx,
but outside of that, targeting from a penalty standpoint been
a very cleaning.

Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
It's gonna have twenty penalties in the second.

Speaker 6 (01:24:33):
I was nervous about bringing it up, but it's been,
especially for the first game of the year, very clean
half of football.

Speaker 3 (01:24:39):
Re receivers right, you got Kekahuna polling in green on
the right. CJ. Williams to the left. Second and ten
of the sixteen yard out of Western Michigan. Van Dyke
back to throw hail fire it right seam and almost
picked off wow In and out of the hands at
Tate Hallick the safety. It was there for the taking,
but he was unable to secure a big break four Wisconsin,

(01:25:01):
twelve seconds left of the half, third and ten for
the Broncos sixteen yard line.

Speaker 6 (01:25:06):
Yeah, we've seen that a few times, and it's been
with will Pauling. I don't know if that's just a
miscommunication or if he thought he was gonna stop, but
that was luckily he's a defensive player, and we all
know defensive players don't have the greatest hands, because that
was as easy of an interception as someone should have had,
and it kind of jostled between his arms and fell
to the ground thankfully.

Speaker 3 (01:25:25):
Bigill Pauling, Nolakowski and Williams to the left, Green to
the right, Jackson Acre the running back. Third and ten
for the sixteen yard line of Western Michigan's Wait, yeah,
playclock winding down and put that one on me. Boys,
it's a lay of game here against Wisconsin with twelve
seconds left in the first half.

Speaker 6 (01:25:46):
Yeah, I think that's the case where everybody's a little
rattled with that throw. And now you wonder if somebody's
in the air. Hey, run the football. You just when
you see a throw like that and the miscommunication, you
get a little bit jittery. Now it's third and long.
Don't make a dumb mistake.

Speaker 3 (01:26:03):
Well, if the twenty one yard line of Western Michigan
on third down back to throw Van Dyke for a
man rush, Tyler flushed. Now I'm moving to his left
with a twenty Van Dyke scampering to the boundary and
his shoved out of bounds shy the fifteen yard line
by Donald Willis with five seconds left in the half,
and this will at least give the Badgers a chance
to get the lead on the Nathaniel Vacos field goal drive.

(01:26:25):
Remember the Badgers will receive to begin the second half.

Speaker 6 (01:26:30):
Yeah, and I like that decision there with the last
thing you want to do, especially after what we just
saw the play before, is trying to force the ball
into a window. Yes, you want to get seven points,
but a lot of times not making that rash decision.
Take what the defense gives you and give your kicker
an opportunity to give you a lead going into.

Speaker 3 (01:26:48):
That thirty three yard try from the left. Hash Mark
Case and Fighters snaps Gavin Meyers holds ball down, kicking
the air from Vacos. It is good and the Badgers
will go into the locker room with a three point lead.
As Nathaniel Vekos, who misfired from thirty six in the
first quarter, he connects at the end of the half

on a sixteen play drive sixty three yards on their

own forty two that walker picked up a first down,
but they missed a thirty six yard field goal and
it was still scoreless. Then Western Michigan had a relatively

(01:30:53):
long drive ended up giving it away in a punt.
Then Wisconsin went on another sixteen play drive on cover
ninety three yards six and a half minutes. Chez Mlusi

Wisconsin has had a two sixteen play drives, one fourteen
play drive but miss the field goal, get in the
end zone, settle for a field goal, and no big

(01:39:01):
plays like nothing more than fourteen yards is the long
play for Wisconsin.

Speaker 42 (01:39:05):
Yeah, in three of ten plus yards on that final
drive in the quasi two minute drill that the Badgers
were able to go and get some points. Mike, this
is a great game for coaches. Forty six plays in
the first half. Yeah, that's a lot of film. I've
already seen some questions of twenty receptions for one hundred yards.
This is an air raid offense. This is what a

(01:39:26):
bit of an air raid offense is. Quick completions, get
the ball out of your hand. I think it's been
in efficient as heck for Tyler van Dyke. A good start,
but gotta be efficient when you get red zone trips

Speaker 16 (01:39:38):
And only one shot play and that was on that
final drive, and it was a good throwaway to the

This is part of what air raid looks like. Yeah,
not big shots down the field, possessing receptions.

Speaker 42 (01:39:52):
Yeah, and already I know Tauish is liking it. Physicality
upfront allowing them to take advantage. Right, Western Michigan is
starting to figure out when they can try to take
some chances when they do to try to stop this
run because Wisconsin has leaned on.

Speaker 6 (01:40:06):
Them early with some good gap power.

Speaker 42 (01:40:09):
That's when you can hopefully take one or two more
of those chances like Bryce and Green had down the
right now.

Speaker 16 (01:40:13):
And I hope you can wear them downe a little
bit in that regard. Let me ask you about the
other sideline, because they go on at locker room. By
the way, they play at Ohio State next week. They
go in that locker room and have to be supremely
confident at the half that they're down three.

Speaker 42 (01:40:24):
Yeah, this is a game, and for all intense purposes, they've.

Speaker 6 (01:40:27):
Been bullied up front at the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 42 (01:40:29):
However, have bowed up when they've needed to, also have
gotten bailed out when they've needed to. There's a lot
of energy on that Western Michigan sideline. But Mike, I
do think the line of scrimmage is telling. It's in
Wisconsin's favor that can be stressed here in the third
quarter and make the fourth quarter a much different story.

Speaker 16 (01:40:49):
Bad Drew's defense had a couple of chances, three of
them in fact, to get off the field after they
scored the touchdown, a third and two that was converted,
a third and seven from their own thirty four that
was converted, and then the goal line play that was
a sixteen play answer for Western Michigan.

Speaker 14 (01:41:03):
The Wisconsin's defense couldn't get off the field.

Speaker 42 (01:41:05):
Yeah, and for all intense purposes, the only drive that
they've been on a field for any extended period of time,
and good physicality by Western Michigan and taking advantage right,
Luke Fickle calls a timeout if indeed everybody on the
Broncos sideliner did realize, look like that may have been
a fourth and goal stop. And this stadium is raucous,
it's full. They're waiting to really explode.

Speaker 16 (01:41:27):
Ty Weee Walker one of the new guys that we're seeing,
Tyler van Dyke.

Speaker 14 (01:41:30):
What have you seen from newbies?

Speaker 3 (01:41:32):
Love?

Speaker 42 (01:41:33):
Tyler Van Dyke's just zip on the football. He talked
about it with Matt in the pregame. He loves to
let it rip. He's also seemingly excited to showcase his
legs a little bit. Yeah, it's not a newbie. It's
a goodie though. I love seeing Chez Mlucy bouncing off tacklers.
It's great to see him in this offense with a
good compliment.

Speaker 14 (01:41:52):
That's Tyee Walker is essentially.

Speaker 16 (01:41:54):
I don't know if that was the plan, but they've
went Tywee Walker on the first drive, Chez on the second,
Tywee on the third.

Speaker 14 (01:42:00):
That's the only three drives you've had.

Speaker 42 (01:42:01):
Yeah, and you hope to be able to be a
little bit more efficient and quick strike, but Mike, those
two backs much different, and Kadijacamelli comes in for I
think one of their longest rushes of the day.

Speaker 16 (01:42:10):
Final quick thought. Wisconsin starts the third quarter with the ball.

Speaker 14 (01:42:13):
What do you hope to see?

Speaker 42 (01:42:14):
I like to see more of this upfront work. Brunner
his first start been fantastic to two tackles Nelson and Malman.
It played too much football for them not to be
able to lean into this third quarter. Look for Phil
Longo to keep this ground game going.

Speaker 16 (01:42:28):

Tap seven Wisconsin Leeds Western Michigan at the half which
I got some of the first half scats presented by
a construction of business Group Wisconsin Operating Engineers, Built Your
Career joined one thirty nine dot com Adgers have almost
doubled up the Broncos in total offense two hundred nineteen
yards to one eleven. Badgers are balanced one oh six
on the ground, one thirteen through the air. Till we

(01:45:46):
Walker eight carries for thirty nine chess but Lucy eight
carries for thirty five. Tyler van Dyke thirteen of twenty
three through the air one hundred and thirteen yards. Jalen
Buckley leading Western Michigan, nine carries for thirty five yards,
Hayden Wolf five out of eight, throwing it for fifty
three yards. Going back to Wisconsin, Bryce and Green with
four catches leading the way with thirty nine yards. Will

(01:46:08):
Palling three four twenty four Badger's six out of nine
on third down the Broncos two will five. Both teams
have converted on fourth down, and for Western Michigan that
resulted in the Broncos touchdown a fourth and goal give
from a half yard away to Jalen Buckley. A couple
of minutes ago, Patrick Curb caught up with head coach
Luke Fickle.

Speaker 1 (01:46:28):
The coach low possession game.

Speaker 3 (01:46:30):
Are you how do you evaluate your offense and be
able to sustay drives. They've been very efficient, you know.
I mean, you've got a fine ways to make some
bigger plays, but I mean you got to give him
some more opportunities too.

Speaker 40 (01:46:40):
You know, they've been they've.

Speaker 6 (01:46:41):
Been methodical on their offense.

Speaker 3 (01:46:42):
We got to do a better job stop in the
run defensively.

Speaker 7 (01:46:45):
That hunter hunted mentality is going forward on fourth down
on that first drive.

Speaker 3 (01:46:49):
Part of that being aggressive. It is, it is we
got we got to do it, but we also got
to be able to execute it. And we did. But
you know, it's just it's in one of those slower
games that you gotta keep your mind. You gotta keep
your head. You just got thanks coach, all right, as
the Badgers will get the second half kickoff, and this
is a game Wisconsin got the field goal and the
final snap of the half of Thethaniel Vakos. Now you

(01:47:10):
get the ball in the third quarters. It's an opportunity
here to start to try to seize some control of this.

Speaker 6 (01:47:15):
Game toch Indeed, and I thought after you score that
long drive, that's where you know, we talk a lot
about complimentary football make a stop. Well you didn't, and
then Wisconsin goes down and finishes the half. You'd love
to have gotten a touchdown. You get the points, you
take it, but now you deferred. You want to get
that double up and you'd love to do it with

(01:47:37):
a touchdown and a touchdown. But this drive, I think
this will set the tone for the rest of this game.
Is this going to be Wisconsin is going to put
the hammer down and then finish this thing? Or are
you gonna let Western Michigan continue to hang around if
you can go up and get a touchdown, go up
seventeen to seven. All of a sudden, now Western Michigan
starts feeling that pressure. That's the goal here. Move continue

(01:47:59):
your wearing on them. You're being physical, You're pounding these guys.
Do you continue to do that? I would think the
answer is gonna be yes. And you heard coach Fickle
say Big plays a lot of methodical things right now,
but I think you want to open it up here
a little bit. Two in the second half.

Speaker 3 (01:48:14):
Three drives a piece in the first half, Palmer Doomski
with the kick in the air, a chance for tretch Kekahuna.
He'll catch the seven right side, ten to the fifteen
across the twenty skips to his left twenty five yard line,
trying to loop outside across the twenty five to the
thirty Kekahuna after the thirty five yard line, and that's
how the second half begins with a nice return from

(01:48:38):
tretch Kekahuna of twenty eight yards.

Speaker 6 (01:48:41):
And that's you get that going and he moves, does
a little juke move, finishes and gets gets it moving.
You want to get that first possession started on this
side of this side of the thirty. You're gonna do
that now. Now you put the hammer down and continue
to move the football.

Speaker 3 (01:48:58):
And Chez Mlucy and Aid Jacamelli will be the running
backs here for Wisconsin. Mancamelli, the Richard sophomore out of
Trafford Pencil or yes, Trafford Pennsylvania, will pauling slot to
the right shotgun staff and the hand off goes to
Mlusy working over the left side of the line across
the thirty five to the thirty nine yard line at
a gain of four. Antario Thompson on the defensive line

(01:49:21):
on the tackle. Badgers go north to south, left to right.
As we view it, in quarter number three, second down
and six for the Badgers at their own thirty nine
ten to seven Wisconsin. Just underway in the third quarter,
Ndy Anthony wide left, pauling slot left spic and Green
out to the right, now pauling the motion to the rights.

(01:49:43):
Van Dyke the quarterback. He's got Acre and Mlusy with him,
and the hand off goes to Malusi gets the left
edge across the forty five drives is way up the
midfield at a first down four Wisconsin gain of eleven
for Chess Mlucy first and ten for the Badgers.

Speaker 6 (01:49:58):
A beautiful job by the left side of the Ssconsin's
offensive line. Brunner really nice job of finishing his guy.
You see the Acre getting out there in front lead blocking.
Nice job by everybody up front.

Speaker 3 (01:50:09):
Acre and Malusy the backfield combo to your receivers right
with pulling in the slot. Green as wide benning Anthony
to the left. I'm ben at fifteen gone second half,
ten to seven Wisconsin, first and ten from the fifty.
Van Dyke gets the high stamp, pulls it down, hands
it to Mlusy over left guard and he'll take it
for about three yards Donnie Willis on the tackle outside

(01:50:31):
linebacker game of three second down and seven for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:50:35):
Little jump pull there by right guard Hubert. Good again,
just good solid job Brunner Nelson of kind of holding
their guys and then letting Hubert kind of shove his
guy pick up two three.

Speaker 3 (01:50:46):
Yards second down in seven ball at the forty seven
yard line of Western Michigan. Ta we walk her in
the backfield now along with Jackson Acre and a play
fake rolling right. Van Dyke throwing right side and Acre
how much he could do there after the catch as
he is taken down by Aaron Wafford at the forty
six of Western Michigan. Wafford reading it well and it's

(01:51:08):
a gain of one third and six for the Badgers.

Speaker 6 (01:51:10):
Yeah, really good open field tackle there, just to you're
trying to stretch Western Michigan horizontally making sure that they
can't just continue to crash down to stop the run game.
And that was a really good open field tackle.

Speaker 3 (01:51:23):
Two receivers left, two receivers right, walker the running back
third and six ball at the forty six yard line
Western Michigan Territory back to throw Van Dyke quick throw
bike side plot first down inside the thirty five.

Speaker 4 (01:51:34):
Will Pauling fights his way inside the thirty downald the
twenty nine yard line, nee third after the catch from
Will Paulling, first in ten for the Badgers.

Speaker 6 (01:51:43):
Yeah, great throw there too by Van Deck putting it
where will Is able to catch, get turned up and
then Will finish it. A lot of guys tonight finishing
through arm tackles Malusi and there Will.

Speaker 3 (01:51:55):
Pauland Anthony Green and Pauling trips to the left from
the twenty nine yard line of Western Mission again first
and ten Wisconsin. Van Dyke back to throw, pressure coming,
Tyler will lose it flush to his right, throws on
the run, high pass tipped up incomplete. Willis got a
hand on it. He had Noah Kowski down there and
pulling as well, but it was Donald Willis the linebacker

(01:52:17):
who got a hand on it. Just tipped it away
and it's second and ten for the twenty nine of
Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (01:52:23):
They're very fortunate there again for the ball to fall
to the turf because he's rolling out to his right.
Not great on the pass protection. They're forcing Vandyke out
of the pocket. And then he threw just kind of
threw it before he hit the turf, threw it up
in the air again a little little haphazardly.

Speaker 3 (01:52:41):
Tucker ash Craft tied end motions left on second out
handoff top we walk her in. Western Michigan gets penetration
Boon ban Emma the linebacker crashing into the backfield and
wrapping up Walker for a loss of two to the
thirty one yard line of the Broncos. The Badger's now
looking at a third and twelve, had.

Speaker 6 (01:53:00):
His textbook defense there of staying square to the line
of scrimmage, waiting, waiting until Wisconsin made a decision, and
then closing that gap and bringing down Walker.

Speaker 3 (01:53:10):
So if they can make a play, you got Pauling
slot right, Keckahuna slot left, third down and long four.
Wisconsin will call it eleven to go ball at the
thirty yard line of Western Michigan. Play clock down to
five eleven fourteen left, third quarter, three point lead Wisconsin,
and Ike gets the stamp back to throw four man rush.
He lets it rip the left.

Speaker 4 (01:53:29):
Side, caught by Khuna inside the twenty yard line. Franklin
on the coverage keck Ahuna to the turf at the
sixteen yard line as Van Dyke Buzzes won to the
red shirt rushman for a first down.

Speaker 6 (01:53:43):
That was big time ed oh, just outside of the
cornerback's hands and great concentration there by trek to to
see that through his hand, squeeze it and make the
play to pick up the first down.

Speaker 3 (01:53:57):
Badrew's back into the case I h red zone. Ashcraft
slot to the left, Malusy in the backfield from the
sixteen yard line of Western Michigan first in ten Wisconsin.
Van Dyke gets the stamp, he'll give it to Mlusi
hits it off the right side of the line, gets
a yard eighty two inside the fifteen near the fourteen
yard line. Dominic Moon among others getting in there defensively

(01:54:20):
for the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (01:54:21):
What a big play third and eleven and you're you know,
we've talked about finishing drives, going down, getting points and
for the concentration, and that took a lot of stones
to make that throw just outside that outstretch hands, huge.

Speaker 3 (01:54:33):
Pickup Kicklahuna slot to the right, play fake Van Dyke
looking rolling throwing left side Ashcraft inside the ten. How
do you just chopped down at the six yard line
by Bill Olcone first down goal to go Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:54:50):
Yeah, really good look roll right had his eyes moving
to the right. Western Michigan's defense all went back that
way and ass Or Ashcraft. Ashcraft ends up moving it
out and gets it open. I knew that was gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (01:55:05):
It was inevitable. First and goal. Western Michigan's loading it
organized as penalty markers fly. There's going to be a
substitution and fraction here against the Broncos. That became a
fire drill there for the Western Michigan defense. Here's the
coal fall start offense.

Speaker 2 (01:55:23):
Oh number fifty seven, five yard penalty remains first out bad.

Speaker 3 (01:55:28):
Western Michigan was really scrambling and they were late. Looked
like getting a guy off the field. But obviously will
fall start occurring there from the center Jake renfro So, Yeah,
a lot of them.

Speaker 6 (01:55:39):
I think parts there with the substitution and all of
the stuff that was going on, and I don't know,
you know, your reugh weights and forces you to hold
off and the guys in the stance get a little
antsy too.

Speaker 3 (01:55:50):
First and goal at the eleven, Anthony and Green out
wide to the right, Van Dyke, Kanster Malusy inside the ten,
Lucy bings his way inside the five and he brings
it onto the Western Michigan defense down near the two
yard line, second in goal for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:56:07):
You talk about hunt and hunting and all that other stuff.
That that was I am going to lower my right
shoulder and I'm going to inflict pain upon you if
you want to put your nose in there. Oh, a
great job by Nelson to finish in his backside block
to give him that one on one, and Malhusi had
no interest in anything but bringing everything he had.

Speaker 3 (01:56:27):
Again, the Broncos scrambling to get the personnel on the
field on second and goal, they give to Malusi off
the left side trying to bounce it. He's in trouble.
Tate Halleck having none of it. As the Broncos again
getting penetration and sending Malusie outside the five yard line.
They'll mark at the six where it's third in goal
with eight thirty five left in the third quarter ten

(01:56:48):
to seven Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:56:49):
Yeah, you cannot allow penetration upfront, and that was the
case there where Corey Walker, their dean, got some good
push and that forced to force the bounce. And that
is the last thing you want to do, especially when
you're down at the goal line. When you're bouncing, you
give guys more time to come make place.

Speaker 3 (01:57:07):
Pauling, Anthony and Bryce and Green out to the rights
till we walkerr the running back third and goal from
the six. Van Dyke calls for the ball, gets the
snap back to throw against the four man rush. He'll
throw left side, tipped up in the area, almost intercepted
as Van Dyke trying to jam one into Will Pauling
and Nikwan Washington nearly coming up with it. Boy, you

(01:57:30):
talk about walking to tight rope, Van Dyke has done that.
He's had a couple that could have maybe should have
been picked. It falls incomplete and it allows Nathaniel Vacos
to try a field goal from twenty four yards away.
So again a good drive, but again it stolls placement

(01:57:54):

lead to six. Small down is in the air and
the kick is good. Before we throw to our commercial break.

long drive. Fourteen plays, fifty nine yards, six fifty five
off the clock. Nathaniel vakos A twenty three yard field
goal thirteen to seven. Wisconsin leeds Western Michigan with seven
minutes and fifty six seconds left in quarter number three.

Speaker 6 (02:00:44):
Another great drive, but again not quite able to get
the job done down on in that red zone. But
it just seems like there's a little something off between
Van Dyck and Will Pauling because that throw, while it
was risky, it hit him right the shoulder pad, but
he wasn't ready and looking for it.

Speaker 3 (02:01:03):
Davin Lohm with the kick at sails well over the
head of Jade Nixon and hits the back line of
the m zone for a touchback. Broncos start at their
twenty five yard line.

Speaker 6 (02:01:16):
And that's, I mean to be expected early in a season,
but we've seen that. I think that's at least the
third time that I've seen where a route stops short
or and those are the things. Bad things happen when
that happens, and right there probably the second or third time.
Very fortunate tip walls have not ended up in Western
Michigan's hands in a situation where you can't do that obviously,

(02:01:40):
when you're gonna be taking points off the board.

Speaker 3 (02:01:42):
Hurt Neil k McDonald ben Barton on that defensive line

looking pressure, gets away from one and scrambles back to
the line of scrimmage. Jack Cheney there to make sure
no game of the play. Second out in ten lebroncos
of their own twenty five.

Speaker 6 (02:01:58):
Yeah, that was the case Western Michigan, and they've been
running the football, been very effective in that second quarter.
They took a shot. They had a one man route
deep play. Wisconsin covered it up, did a nice job.

Speaker 3 (02:02:10):
Malik Dudon as out wide to the rights, Confday Sambucci
to the left, and now du Don motions to the formation.
They're tight on that side of the line. Wolf hands
off the Buckley trying to cut it back across twenty
five thirty thirty five across the forty yard line, goes
Jalen Buckley and Jahem Thomas runs him down at the
forty two yard line, gain of seventeen. Last year's Freshman

of the Year in the Mid American Conference. Jalen Buckley
first and.

Speaker 6 (02:02:34):
Ten, really good vision and just makes one cut and goes.
He was patient, didn't run into some guys backs. Wisconsin's
defense overplayed it. He made the cutback in a big
sixteen yard pickup.

Speaker 3 (02:02:47):
Walco's trying to get back on the move. First and
ten back to throw Wolfville pressure from Zach with a
deep shot left side for Mortimore incomplete inside the twenty
yard line. You had Wohler and Max Lofi back there
in coverage. So Hayden wolf taking a shot all well
beyond the intended receiver devon Mortimer's second and ten Broncos

(02:03:08):
at their forty two yard line.

Speaker 6 (02:03:09):
Obviously, Western Michigan seen some things that they think, hey,
we could take some shots. Wisconsin is now being very
aggressive trying to stop the run and so far done
a nice job of covering the deep routes.

Speaker 3 (02:03:21):
Here Abduce Salaam now the running back. He gets the
handoff or the left side, he gets crunched. Darryl Peterson
getting in there for the Badgers along with Kirk Neil
as Abduce Salaam squeezes about two yards out of it.
Third down and a long eight for the Broncos of
their own forty four yard line.

Speaker 6 (02:03:40):
Love vet by Darryl Peterson. He doesn't just allow the
left tackle to block him, he sheds him inside rip
and goes down the line and makes the play.

Speaker 3 (02:03:48):
Mortimer slapped to the rights. Sam Brucci wide left motions
to the right. On third and eight, Western Michigan from
its own forty four yard line. Hayden Wolf, the quarterback
back throw Badgers bringing four. Wolf under pressure, wines it up,
lets it rip, and it's caught inside the forty Malik
Dude Don inside the thirty five of Wisconsin and brought

(02:04:09):
to the turf at the thirty three of the Badgers.
A third and eight conversion for Western Michigan now into
Wisconsin territory.

Speaker 6 (02:04:16):
And Wisconsin ran a stunt up front with a couple
of their defensive ending tackle and Western Michigan did just
enough to allow the quarterback to step up and deliver strike.
Pick up that first down.

Speaker 3 (02:04:27):
R Jay Delancey, the cornerback there to finally make the
tackle and first intent of the thirty three yard line
of Wisconsin. Wolf and they won a double pass. Here
here's Sambucci threw for a score.

Speaker 4 (02:04:38):
Two years ago and takes a shot, but it's knocked.

Speaker 3 (02:04:41):
Down by Hunter Wohler. The incomplete pass. Sambucci in a
game against pitt two years ago threw for a touchdown,
and they're trying to flash back to that twenty twenty
two season. But the pass batted away and it's second
and ten for the thirty three of Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:04:57):
That is really good disciplined by everybody involved. That they
tipped that pretty early. Anytime you throw it that quick,
everybody stayed in their lanes. And then Hunter Waller gets
in the passing lane. I actually wish he would have
thrown it at. Wisconsin's coverage was really good. Potentially an interception.

Speaker 3 (02:05:13):
Trips to the left for the Badger thirty three on
second down. Here's a hand off the Jalen Buckley into
the line and he was wrapped up by Nisi or
four Kyreen at the thirty one of Wisconsin. Gain of
two third and eight five eighteen left third quarter, thirteen
to seven Wisconsin. Western Michigan not interested in going away here,

(02:05:35):
so another third down. They hit on a third and
eight moments ago. They're three out of six converting on
third down so far. Tonight, udn wide to the right.
Now Samberci wind up to the left, motions right, comes
back the other way and had a quick bro left side.
Samberchi the catch and the Badger's converging and Samberci is
taken down at the thirty one yard line. He was

(02:05:57):
surrounded by Cardinal jerseys. Was Anthony Sambucci. And it's fourth
and April, the thirty one yard lineup Wisconsin, and on
comes Palmer Doomski last year connected on a forty nine
yard or a season long that was against Miami. He's
going to try to match that. Right here, forty nine

(02:06:18):
yard attempt left Hash thirteen to seven Wisconsin for twenty
two left third quarter wise are down. Here's a snap
placement made. The kick is in the air, end it
is no good wide right. The Badgers get the stop
and they protect a six point lead, and we will

Wisconsin got a preview this in their bowl game against LSU.

Speaker 3 (02:09:05):
It was permitted on an experimental basis. What was approved
this year and.

Speaker 7 (02:09:09):
There's more than a dozen tablets now of able to
on the sideline to watch highlights, to watch tape of
the previous possession, or any possession during the game. They
can get three different camera angles of every play. And
I was curious to see how they would use it.
They're using it often right now. If you look down
at the defensive bench, there are huddles around those devices
at every stop.

Speaker 3 (02:09:29):
In fact, Mike Trussell.

Speaker 7 (02:09:30):
The defensive coordinator, immediately comes over the bench, grabs otom
and starts reviewing the last drive before going to talk
to his players right now. Also, what's happening in interestingly
is that Jack del Rio, the newest member of the
Wisconsin staff, the senior advisor to the head coach, is
helping out with the linebackers going over iPad work.

Speaker 3 (02:09:49):
Now, that's a pretty good source to help with linebackers.
Jack del Reel on first and ten four Wisconsin and
off Tallwie Walker across the thirty yd line drives up
across the thirty five. Donald k Moon, the linebacker, brings
down on Walker after a gain of five up to
the thirty six yard line Wisconsin territory Paul Merdomski just
missing from forty eight yards away a moment ago. Badger's
lead thirteen to seven with three fifty five left of

(02:10:11):
the third quarter.

Speaker 6 (02:10:12):
It's very easy to pick up five and six yards
when your guards and centers are pushing the down lineman
five at six yards like Joe Brunner did right there.

Speaker 3 (02:10:21):
Trips to the left from the thirty six of Wisconsin,
seck it down in five snapped the van Dyke bubble
screen left, caught by Kakahuna, chase across the forty and
stretch up to the forty three yard line. Gours down
for the Badgers. Moon on the stop first in ten
for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:10:34):
It's just fun to get the ball in his hands.
He he has a lot of different moves, but you
want to get the ball in your playmaker's hands. Nice
job there picking up that first down.

Speaker 3 (02:10:46):
Okay, Yaka Millie checking into the game. He until we
walker the backfield combos.

Speaker 14 (02:10:51):
CJ.

Speaker 3 (02:10:51):
Williams comes out wide to the left, Kakahuna slot right,
Rice and Green why to the right to the forty
three yard line. Wisconsin territory first and ten those Van
Dyke gets the snap, little pressure coming up the middle.
They pick it up. Vandyke looking looking scans now pressure
and sacked. Isaiah Green getting there. Is Vandyke hanging on

(02:11:12):
too long? They'll mark at the thirty four on a
loss of nine second down and nineteen for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:11:20):
Yeah, I'm not gonna say that's a coverage sack. The
protection was good. Obviously nobody was opened, so it is
a coverage sack. But that's the case. You have enough
time get out of the pocket. You can't take that sack.
You had plenty of time get out, throw the ball,
don't lose the nine yards. You have plenty time to
get rid of it.

Speaker 3 (02:11:38):
From the thirty four of Wisconsin second and nineteen snapped
the Van Dyke, looking again pressured backside, throws right's side
over the head until we walker near the forty yard
line of the near side to sean bustle of the
secondary on the coverage, and it's third and nineteen for
the Badgers at their thirty four with two point twenty

(02:11:58):
left in the third quarter thirteen seven Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:12:01):
Oh Our old offensive coordinator Brad Schilders used to always say,
and I don't have a lot of plays for you
when it's third nineteen. That's why getting rid of the
football and trying to keep it in normal down a
distance even if it's third and ten now is the case,
or you have to take a shot, make something happen.

Speaker 3 (02:12:16):
Khuna CJ. Williams, Bryce and Green out wide to the right,
snapped the Van Dyke on third down against a four
man rush. Van Dyke twisting to his left across a
twenty five and tripped up across a thirty ball popped out.
It is loose and it's recover. Let's see the recovery.
Western Michigan claiming it has it and no signal yet.

(02:12:39):
And now there is the signal. Western Michigan football off
the Van Dyke fumble. The Broncos recover. Tyson Lee, the
defensive lineman is there checking to see if maybe Van
Dyke might that ball was coming out. That is a
clean fumble and the first turnover of the night at

(02:13:01):
a massive opportunity now for the Broncos at the thirty
four yard line of Wisconsin with two o six left
in the third quarter, thirteen to seven Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:13:11):
And you're gonna get outside the pocket, you're gonna try
and make plays. You have to have ball security in mind.
And that was a case where it was a little
bit lucy and then the ball is actually in hubers
our pit.

Speaker 21 (02:13:22):
Two.

Speaker 6 (02:13:23):
Give Western Michigan's defensive lineman credit for kind of pulling
that out of there, ripping it back and giving them

Speaker 6 (02:16:10):
Yeah, this is that transition defense that you're talking about,
sudden change. How are you gonna go out there? Really
really good penetration by the guys up front, getting in

Western Michigan.

brilliantly executed by Western Michigan.

Westin Zachman saved the touchdown for the moment. Trips to

Western Michigan and this game is tied at thirteen in

Hoo Chack Gaming Wisconsin, Dell's the best place for growing up, entertainments,
games and fun times. Your odds are better. They're a
six play, thirty four yard drive. It took two hundred
and fifty one seconds because Western Michigan capitalizes on the
Wisconsin fumble, beautifully executes a fake field goal, and then

(02:27:44):
Jalen Buckley finishes the deal with a one yard touchdown
run fourteen to thirteen, Western Michigan leading Wisconsin with fourteen
fifteen seconds to play.

Speaker 6 (02:27:54):
Yeah, when you're a big underdog, and I can just
always remember our coach is always telling us when we
play those early season games, be alert on special teams
you're gonna try. They need to find ways to create offense.
Do trick plays. We've seen a double pass, We've seen
them empty in their sink. And when Wisconsin is driving,

(02:28:14):
you move in the football, not converting a field goal,
and then you turn the football over it. You just
keep giving teams hope and when you have what you
think is a better team. And by the way, Western Michigan.
Give them a ton of credit. They have hung in,
they're playing a good game. They execute one of the
best fake field goals, beautifully done, and that gives them
that point. And now you're sitting here with fourteen minutes

(02:28:37):
left in the in this ball game, and you're down
a point to a team that you are heavily favored against.

Speaker 3 (02:28:43):
Walmer Domsky to kickoff tretch Kickahuna is deep kick, is
away Kickhuna waits for it. He'll catch right side of
the two. He's to the five to ten, right side
fifteen and gets belted across the twenty yard line and
the ball may have popped out again, Western Michigan claiming it.
The Badger is able to recover, it'll be first in

(02:29:04):
ten as Wisconsin really flirting with disaster here in these
last several minutes. Now they're down one, and let's see
how they respond, starting at their twenty one yard line.

Speaker 6 (02:29:19):
And now it is time where you lean on your guys,
find a way, get the football in your best player's hands.
And I would think you're gonna see a heavy dose.
I can remember when Paul Chris would say, all right,
balls are getting tipped up in the air. Balls are
on the ground, all right, enough physicality, hand the football off,
go down and find some points.

Speaker 3 (02:29:38):

to the left from the twenty one yard line of
Wisconsin first and ten. Van Dyke looking to throw quick
shot caught by Pauling russells his way across the twenty
five to the twenty six boon but Ima the linebacker
on the stop game of five.

Speaker 6 (02:29:56):
It easy pitch and catch hats Just that simple little
curl route delivered on time where it needed to be
picked up.

Speaker 3 (02:30:01):
Five quick snap on second out. Here's Mlusy picking his
way through to the thirty yard line and near the marker.
He's the thirty one. He is very close to it.
Thirteen forty remaining fourteen thirteen Western Michigan, and let's see
they will call it a first down for the Badgers
at the thirty one yard line. See j Williams coming

(02:30:25):
out to the right. Put the Anthony to the left,
Tucker Ashcrafts slot left, Will Pauling slot rights to Lucy
the running back. Van Dyke's the snap swings and left
and it's through Mlusy. Incomplete buzz right through his hands,
and it's second and ten for the Badgers at their
thirty one yard line.

Speaker 6 (02:30:44):
Just a little bit out of sink in when you're
in this position. Now everything's even that much more important.
And that's a ball that should have been caught. He
put it where it needed to be and just chez
right through his hands.

Speaker 3 (02:30:57):
Second and ten for the Badgers at their thirty one
yard line. We walk her now in at running back
too tight in alignment here for Wisconsin, this little formation
Walker behind his quarterback and Van Dyke will give it
to him. Walker off the right side, gets belted once
and then Donnie Willis will take him down. Bill lock
Cone is there as well, behind the line of scrimmage,

(02:31:21):
loss of one to the thirty of Wisconsin, where it's
now third and eleven, two minutes gone by fourth quarter,
fourteen to thirteen, Western Michigan leading Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:31:32):
Here in Madison, just a staleman on the right hand
side of Wisconsin's offensive line allowed the linebacker to kind
of run back door and bring Walker down.

Speaker 3 (02:31:41):
Were receivers left one on the right, Van Dyke back
to throw, looking looking pressure, throwing right side, tip up,
tip to get incomplete off of a couple of Badgers
palling and then Williams and hang it up in the
air and it falls harmlessly incomplete, and a Western Michigan

(02:32:03):
player is going to need some attention. The Badgers in
the meantime will be punting from their own thirty yard
line on fourth and eleven.

Speaker 6 (02:32:14):
Very fortunate again, and that's probably the third or fourth
time that we've said very fortunate that a tip ball
or a miscommunication ball up in the air lands to
the turf. Very fortunate from Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (02:32:27):
There can't pick up the number of the Western Michigan
player has the look of maybe a cramping issue right now,
twelve thirty three to play fourteen to thirteen the Broncos,
and it's a defensive lineman Ontario Thompson who is now
helped up and he will make his way to the
Western Michigan sidelines and looks to be okay, a thumbs up.

Speaker 6 (02:32:52):
He's giving a thumbs up that Wisconsin has run a
lot of plays and you're starting to wear and this
was one of those times where you really felt like
wear them out, and unfortunately you get one first down
and now you're punting the football, putting it back to
grab that pendulum. Special teams or defense has to.

Speaker 3 (02:33:10):
Make him play first punts of the Knights for the
sophomore Atticus Bertram's here's the snap, the left footed punter
with the kick in the air, drifting back Jordan Parker.
It checks up.

Speaker 4 (02:33:23):
These other twenty five may have hit off of a
Bronco hits loose at the twenty.

Speaker 3 (02:33:27):
The Badgers say they've covered it up. Let's see as
that was pouncing it hit a Bronco and the Badgers
get a.

Speaker 4 (02:33:36):
Monu mental break Wisconsin football. As Austin Brown, I believe
the Badger who was able to pounce on a big
time gift from Western Michigan ball at the Broncos twenty.

Speaker 3 (02:33:57):
The first ten that took a little sideways bounce and
got the shun bustle and pouncing on it was Austin
Brown for Wisconsin with twelve twenty one to play, fourteen
to thirteen. Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:34:20):
Yeah, and it looked like their returner Parker decided to
not come up and catch that football. And you know
the ball takes weird bounces. That is a big break
that it bounces the right way off of a Western
Michigan receiver and Wisconsin pounced.

Speaker 3 (02:34:34):
Tah we Walker, the running back, gets the handoff off
the left side. Walker dies near the fifteen yard line.
Trip to the red zone brought to you by caseih
was akseih dot com slash Badgers name of four for
Walker to the sixteen of Western Michigan. Second out in
sixty four Wisconsin. Three minutes gone by fourth quarter fourteen

(02:34:57):
to thirteen Western Michigan. Andrews sent three receivers to the rights,
one to the lefts single back offense. Van Dyke gives
it or keeps it rather. Van Dyke cutting right, trying
to slice it back left, lost his footing. Dominic Moon
is there to make the hit at the twelve yard line.
Tyler reddit pulled it and advances four yards to the

(02:35:20):
twelve where it's third and two.

Speaker 6 (02:35:24):
Tyler's reading that defensive end and he made the correct
read a little stumbly, a little bumbly, but he was
able to pick up a quick three or four yards.

Speaker 3 (02:35:34):
Ricing Green, Riley Nowakowski, JT. C. Grease will come out
to the right. Play clock was starting to wind down.
Luke Fickel, Phil Longo not liking it. So they'll burn
their first time out here of the second half, and
we will take a break along side of them, with
eleven fifteen remaining Western Michigan fourteen, Wisconsin thirteen back in

Michigan fourteen, Wisconsin thirteen. The Badgers have a third and
two at the Broncos twelve yard line.

Speaker 6 (02:38:03):
Yeah, and Wisconsin has been you know, I think pretty
well three of another, eight of fourteen, which is pretty
good on third down, one of one on fourth and
it'll be interesting to see here.

Speaker 33 (02:38:14):
What do you go?

Speaker 6 (02:38:16):
You just line it up, be physical, pick up this
first down. If you don't get it, I'll be curious
take the lead. A lot of interesting decisions coming up here.

Speaker 3 (02:38:24):
Double wide to the rights. Walker is the running back
lining up behind Van Dyke and the pistol of the
twelve yard line of Western Michigan. Here we go, sap.
The Vandyke has off the Walker off the right side.
First down inside the ten yard line. Walker burrows his
waying here the six lead to two. We gets six
burst in goal. Wisponson.

Speaker 6 (02:38:45):
It just all night when there hasn't been penetration, and
I think Wisconsin's offensive line has been pretty good. They've
not allowed a ton of penetration. You just see it
doesn't matter what back has been in there, really doing
a good job of finishing their runs. That time to
pick up a first down, So.

Speaker 3 (02:38:59):
We walkers stay in there. Double tidy end formation Rice
and Greenold wide to the right, sever Old wide to
the left as well. On first thing goal, Vandyke gives
it the Walker trying to cut it back inside the
five yard line, gets through Tate Hollick, Walker.

Speaker 6 (02:39:12):
Driving to the end zone. Touchdown.

Speaker 4 (02:39:14):
Wisconsin, oh my goodness, a powerful run to the house
from Towee Walker. How's the Badgers take the lead.

Speaker 6 (02:39:24):
A great job on the back side by Wisconsin's offensive
line again getting Walker to his guy where he has
to beat his guy. And as we've said, a bunch tonight,
not one guy was bringing him down. He lowered the
boom and then finished through three different defenders to get
into the end zone. Keep in your pads and just

(02:39:46):
running through contact. We've seen it a bunch tonight, and
Walker with a great exhibition of that right there.

Speaker 3 (02:39:52):
Wow, he just punished Tede Hallick Luke Fickle, getting the
attention of the officials. One of the player o'clock reset
as the Badger's going for two. They lead by five.
Right now, well left middle from the three yard line.
Three receivers right, one on the left, Jackson Acre, the
running back Pauling now jogs in motion into the backfield,

(02:40:14):
shuffles back to the right snap the Van Dyke looking
Sex throws right side.

Speaker 4 (02:40:19):
It is put by teckerhooda back line of the inside

Well, a Badger's get a massive break on a punts
that bounced off Western Michigan return man recovered by Austin
Brown at the twenty The fourd scoring drive four plays
twenty yards todd Wie Walker lasting his way to the
end zone from six yards out. Two point diversion pass
for Toddler Van Dyke to tretch Keckohuna. He is down

(02:43:16):
twenty one fourteen. Wisconstant leading Western Michigan with ten thirty
five remaining.

Speaker 6 (02:43:20):
A really cool two point play design. You will Paulink
going in motion and then he kind of had him
stop right behind the center, revert back towards the right,
and run a flat route and that brought a little
bit of coverage from Western Michigan. And then Trek made
a really nice little in cut back to that back
line and a beautiful throw by Van Dyke that two

(02:43:41):
point play very big to go up seven.

Speaker 3 (02:43:44):
Both teams have capitalized on turnovers. Mister Michigan a touchdown
after all Wisconsin fumble the Badgers converting on the special
team's mistake from the Broncos, Jaden Nixon is deep. Gavin
Lohm said, to kick off, mister Weishagan going left to
right as we see to the fourth quarter, lomb with

(02:44:04):
the kick well on its way to the back of
the end zone. Again another touchback having long hammering those
kickoffs here tonight Broncos starting at their twenty five yard line.

Speaker 6 (02:44:16):
I just go back to Walker's touchdown run too, and
what you just can't help but be super impressed with
the way Wisconsin's running backs are attacking, you know, and
o'patrick has talked a lot about hunter hunted and that
mentality is really showing up with our tailbacks because that
was one of those It should have been a three

(02:44:37):
or four yard run. He lowered his pads, Safety lowered
his pads, and Walker said no, no, no, blew it
and then finished through the end zone. We've just seen
that a bunch now, a lot of brit a lot
of determination by our tailbacks.

Speaker 3 (02:44:49):
Tonight we'll see what kind of finishing kick this Wisconsin
team has still ten and a half minutes remaining seven
point lead. Wisconsint three running backs flanking Hayden Wolf penalty
Marcus fly play clock striking zero to lay of game
here against Western Michigan. Yeah, it's Taylor not very happy

(02:45:12):
over there on the Broncos sideline. Taylor was a running
backs coach at Notre Dame. A few years ago. He
was on that Irish staff that turned a close game
into a route against Wisconsin at Soldier Field. Second year
head coach now with the Broncos. So it's first in
fifteen Western Michigan. Soyland buck Lee so here abduced Salaam.

(02:45:37):
The running backs, two receivers right and one on the
left hand off Abduce Salam off the left side twenty
twenty five yard line, wrapped up by Hunter Wohler at
the twenty nine yard line on a gain of nine
second out and six for Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (02:45:50):
Yeah, they hat a gift. Wrap you a five yard penalty,
and then you would think you want to get a
stop and you give up nine yards. That's not how
you want to draw it up.

Speaker 3 (02:46:00):
He and Thomas Andrews, linebacker remains down athletic trainers out there,
and he pops right back up and looks to be okay.
Is He'll take this way to the sideline for at
least one play ten twenty three remaining twenty one to

(02:46:22):
fourteen Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:46:23):
Yeah, you know, you see a lot of cramping. You
see a lot of stuff in these first games because
you practice, you can do two two and a half
hour practices, but it's just different when you're out there.
And there have been a lot of long drives tonight
that are going to take a lot of energy out
of these guys. I feel fairly confident there's everybody's leaving
it out on the field tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:46:44):
A low possession game to put it mildly here tonight
to camp Randall, second and six with the Broncos, they're
on twenty nine yard line. Wolf under his center, Jacob
Gideon just twole the tight end motions. Let play fake
Wolf rolling off to his right looking throws on a
run that's caught by Sambucci across the forty yard line
and crashing down his fort kyreen for Wisconsin at the

(02:47:06):
forty one of Western Michigan a first down for the Broncos.

Speaker 6 (02:47:09):
Yeah, just a really good play design. You're you're having
success running the football. You do a little bootleg that
Wisconsin actually covers the flat route pretty well, but the
over has enough time and really nice to throw on
the run there right where it needed to be to
pick up that.

Speaker 3 (02:47:25):
First downe receivers tied lefts weak, dudn out wide to
the right pistol formation. Wolf turns hands off Buckily over
the right side of the line, and he fights his
way across the forty five and up to the forty
seven yard line. Kirk Eagle there for Wisconsin. That's hard
yards from Jalen Buckley. He gets six to the forty
seven of the Broncos chucking the.

Speaker 6 (02:47:43):
Pol Yeah, he's not interested in bouncing stuff either. He
is in everybody's running back. Wisconsin just was complimenting what Wisconsin's.
He is just putting his foot down and he is
running through contact to a physical, physical game here today.

Speaker 3 (02:47:57):
Thirteen carries sixty one yards for Bucky. He stays in
there the pistol formation on second down, hand off Buckley
straight ahead and greeting him as Jake Cheney at the
forty eight yard line game of one third and three
for the Broncos with nine minutes to play, twenty one
fourteen Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:48:14):
That nice job by Cheney is staying home and not
not over reading anything, stays in his spot and then
gets him down immediately, not not letting him drive his
legs and pick up a couple of yards, just a
one yard to pick up there.

Speaker 3 (02:48:26):
Broncos three out of eight on third down. It's third
and three down for their own forty eight yard line.
Three receivers left, one on the right and they hand
off to Buckley to midfield Waller trying to keep him
shy of the mark. And it's very very close. They
need the forty nine of Wisconsin and the ball is
at the fifty. It's fourth down and one for Western Michigan.

(02:48:49):
Broncos converted on a fourth and goal in the first
half of play. They're two for two to night on
fourth down and they're about to try a third time.
Were they eight ten to play? Twenty one fourteen Wisconsin,
fourth and one from the fifty, full house backfield, Wolf
under center Jaden Nixon creeping up in the handoff.

Speaker 4 (02:49:12):
The butt lady stopped by Aaron Whip. Help the Badgers
Stone are running back. Wisconsin ball bad midfield.

Speaker 6 (02:49:31):
Great job by Wisconsin's defensive light. You saw the full
house backfield. Western Michigan actually brought a guy in to
shove on one of their offensive linemen try to get
a little extra push. Wisconsin said no, no, no, and
the door is slam shut on that drive.

Speaker 3 (02:49:47):
We'll take a break seven point fifty four, remaining Wisconsin's

In the twenty twenty two Male Powl, Aaron Winn had
a pretty good game against wig Bors, had a sat
couple of tackles for lost and he has been injury
played since. Finally got back on the field a little
bit in this regular season finale against Minnesota played more
in the ball game. He keeps fighting his way back
on the field and is involved in a huge fourth

(02:51:55):
and one stop at midfield to give the Badgers the
ball back up. So was seven fifty four to play.
What a story and what a play by Aaron Witt.
Now first and ten, see if Wisconsin can put together
a little put away punch. Tyler Van Dyke through the

(02:52:15):
air in his Badger's debut debuted nineteen out of thirty
four for one hundred and sixty five yards. Chasm Lucy
fourteen carries for sixty five so we walker fourteen totes
for fifty eight yards. Will Pauling Slott left. Here's the
hand off to mol Lucy trying to cut it to
his left, still up inside the forty five and hold
of the turf at the forty four yard line of

(02:52:35):
Western Michigan. Dabari Rovers and the linebacker on the tackle.

Speaker 6 (02:52:40):
Just again a nice job of keeping his feet alive
through contact, bouncing a little bit, grabbing himself a six
yard run to that's what you're trying to hear. Churn
clock go down and finish this football game off.

Speaker 3 (02:52:53):
Halfway through the fourth quarter, seven point lead Wisconsin second
and four at the Western Michigan forty four yard line
and Dyke gets the stamp, He'll give it to them.
Lucy again, stepping through some traffic, gets inside the forty
down to the thirty nine. Good patient running from Chez,
but Lucy, the sixth year senior out of Naples, Florida.

(02:53:14):
Chez will come out how we Walker is in seven
zero five to play. Badgers lead twenty one to fourteen
and the market right at the forty yard line of
Western Michigan first and ten.

Speaker 6 (02:53:23):
A lot of success pulling guys the tight ends, doing
a really good job of sealing their blocks when they're
on the move. Ere Huber, right guard, did a really
nice job of pulling out there, kicking out and allowing
a little bit of space. Start to pick up that first.

Speaker 3 (02:53:37):
Down receivers right one on the left Walker Now they're
running back to the right of the quarterback Tyle Vandyke
Van Dyke will feed Walker over the left side inside
the forty inside the thirty five, Walker gets yanked to
the turf at the thirty three yard line of Western
Michigan with Dominic Moon getting in there the linebacker for
the Broncos. Excellent first down run from taw Wee Walker.
They will place at the thirty two of the Broncos

(02:53:58):
Game of Age second.

Speaker 6 (02:53:59):
And two star guys wearing down Western Michigan's front. That's
a design play to the left. Did a good job
of kind of keeping his landmark and then cutting back
off of Malman and Huber's blocks off the backside.

Speaker 3 (02:54:12):
Hauling slot right, Nowakowski slot left, and O'Riley in motion
winds up winging the right side. On second and two
with the thirty two yard line of Western Michigan. Van
Dyke thanks the handoff and those at Nowakowski catches inside
the twenty five yard line, down on your sideline, fights
his way the inside the twenty and big ol'illy Nowakowski
bulldozing his way to the nineteen yard line of Western
Michigan first in ten Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:54:34):
And that was I was just talking about the tight ends,
you know, pulling and in motion and ceiling edges. And
that was just a simple bluff. You acted and sold
the play like it was going to be that. It
doesn't get any easier, just bluffs the defensive end. Van
Dyke just flips it out to him, picked up.

Speaker 3 (02:54:49):
The first down, Badgers back into the case ih red
zone up seven five thirty seven remaining ball at the
nineteen yard line of the Broncos first and ten. Van
Dyke takes the stamp thanks the handoff Roles right throws
right side that is caught by Pauling at the fifteen
to the ten.

Speaker 6 (02:55:02):
Down of the five yard line.

Speaker 3 (02:55:03):
Goes well. Pauling driven to the turf by the law
cone first and goal Wisconsin. Just outside the five yard
line of Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (02:55:13):
Pulled Brunner the left guard there to kind of seal
a kickout, and that was we're running it. We're running it.
We're doing a lot of good things. Easy pitch and
catch well. Paul does a great job of getting vertical,
catching with his hands and getting down to the five
yard line.

Speaker 3 (02:55:26):
Now the lot cone the cornerback. Get your senior out
of Apple Valley, Minnesota. Transfer from Indiana State needing some attention.
Five minutes, eleven seconds remaining twenty one to fourteen Wisconsin.
This trip to the red zone brought to you by KSEIH.

Speaker 6 (02:55:55):
Looks a little crampy any time you're shoving on the feet.
And you give everybody that's out here a lot of credit.
First game out and this has been a really physical,
hard fought football game and a lot a lot of
long drives that these teams are going on, and you're
starting to see that wear and tear on both sides.
Guys cramp and they're leaving everything out on the field,

(02:56:15):
which is what all that's all we can hope for.

Speaker 3 (02:56:20):
This is what the eighth possession of the game here
for Wisconsint. We have five to eleven remaining in the game.

Speaker 6 (02:56:27):
You would think the way that they've maintained control of
the football and what they've been able to do the
short field is one of the seven one of the
scoring opportunities. They've had a lot of long drives by
both teams today too.

Speaker 3 (02:56:41):
Tied in a linement chills Malusy the running back. First
and goal from the six yard line. Van Dyke gets
the shotgun snap you'll hand it to Malosy inside the
five yard line. Malusi works his way down to about
the two on a gain of four.

Speaker 6 (02:56:53):
A little scrap outside the field.

Speaker 3 (02:56:55):
And nikwon Washington and Rice right up against the padding
right by the part of the area red student section
official separate, no flags thrown. We will play on second
and goal at the two.

Speaker 6 (02:57:14):
That's always a good sign. When the offensive players got
the defensive player buried over on the sideline.

Speaker 3 (02:57:20):
Chris Brooks in the game now at receiver and he
will shift out wide to the left. They go inverted
wishbone now by a dyke under his center Jake Renfrow
and say we officially step in. Is Luke Fickble with
that play clock getting dangerously low, using a timeout and
the second charge timeout for Wisconsin with four six remaining.

(02:57:43):
Twenty one fourteen Wisconsin, we will keep it here.

Speaker 6 (02:57:48):
Yeah, that's the case. You know, I know people can
get frustrated, but you're in this position now, this is
where you go to finish the game off the last
thing you want to do take a five year penalty
or not have things lined up and called the way
you want. Make sure you have everything buttoned up here,
dialed in, and don't just run a play. Make sure
you're doing the right thing.

Speaker 3 (02:58:10):
It's one T one fourteen Wisconsin with four minutes six
seconds remaining. It's second and goal for the Badgers at
the two. Wisconsin has one time out available. The Broncos
have all three plus the two minute time out. Mark
Tusher's new favorite term in college football. Rice and green.

(02:58:30):
Why to the right, Chris Brooks slot to the right
pistol formation. Now for the Badgers, Lucy behind his quarterback
Tyler van Dyke, Tucker Ashcraft wing on the right side,
snapped the Van Dyke, here's the gift to him and
Lucy and crashing into the backfield. Mason Nelson getting in
there on the defensive line, Tate Hallick as well, and

(02:58:50):
that play is spilled back to the six yard line,
third and goaling.

Speaker 6 (02:58:54):
Yeah, that's it. Jack Nelson left tackle just slanted it
across his face and you can't give penetration. That's not
an easy block by any stretch of the imagination. Just
got off the snap a little bit late, and give
him credit. Chase down the line of scrimmage, got in
the back of the gotten a lousy to the ground.

Speaker 3 (02:59:11):
For this Western Michigan team. Digging deep third and goal,
Wisconsin at the six. Three receivers lefts two on the right.
Ronco's Lake getting a sub in there. But they're all
said van Dyke looking to throw and he'll pull it down.
Van Dyke to the five, cutting left, Van.

Speaker 4 (02:59:26):
Dyke ties to the goal line, touchdown Wis Thomson. Tyler
Van Dyke scrambles home from six yards away and it's
twenty seven to fourteen Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:59:41):
Who said he can't run, Yes, sir, that was good
pocket presence there, pulled it. He tucks the ball away
and he just gets by a little shoelace attempt and
dives from the two yard line, and I believe extended
the football before the knee came down. Just great determination
there to get in and to hopefully salt this game away.

Speaker 3 (03:00:04):
The Badgers now with a two score lead, Nathaniel Vakos
on to attempt the extra points three seventeen remaining in Madison.
Here's the snap placement made and the kick is good.
Good cool Ford storing drive. Eight plays, fifty yards to

(03:00:26):
four minutes and thirty seven seconds. Tyler van Dijk running
it in from six yards away. We'll keep it here
with three minutes and seventeen seconds to play. Wisconsin twenty eight,
Western Michigan fourteen.

Speaker 6 (03:00:39):
Yeah, the more I'm looking at that on replay, it
looked like it was a design draw the way he
had put his eyes and so putting him in that position.
Good job by the old line of finishing their blocks,
and just great effort and determination because there was a
shoelace kind of swipe attempt around the two or three

(03:00:59):
yard line, and vad Dyck said, I'm finding my way
and I'm gonna I'm gonna cray. I'm gonna continue to
claw and scrape until I crossed that goal line and
hopefully cross that finish line. In this football game, it.

Speaker 3 (03:01:15):
All turned on the special team's mistake from Western Michigan.
The punts hit the turf, bounced off one of the
return men for the Broncos. Austin Brown pounced and the
Badgers were able to score on a short drive of
twenty yards without a big fourth and one stop. It
was the kick from Gavin lomb again over the head

(03:01:37):
of Jade Nixon into the end zone for the touchback.
Western Michigan was in a fourth and one from midfield
and then Aaron wit has some help to be sure,
but it was went screaming off the edge stop the
running back short on the stage.

Speaker 6 (03:01:53):
Yeah, you just need your guys to make big plays.
If big time players make big time plays when the
moments really matter. And that was a spot where right
around the fifty yard line, and if they picked that
first down up, this story could be completely different. Make
that play and then Wisconsin goes down, gets the next touchdown,

(03:02:15):
and hopefully gives us a little breathing.

Speaker 3 (03:02:17):
But it's twenty five. The Western Michigan first and ten
wolf back to throw set shoots it left side that
is caught by Duke don across the forty five yard line,
up the far side line, and up to about the
forty seven yard line. The first down for Western Michigan
on a gain of twenty two with three minutes to play.
Twenty eight fourteen Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (03:02:36):
This is where I need to see that pass rush
show up.

Speaker 3 (03:02:38):
Absolutely and k thee high snapped the wolf of pressure
coming to throw it to the left. That's caught by
Blake Posma a tight end inside the forty of Wisconsin
who stood up there by Zachman and Wohler, and another
first down for Western Michigan, quickly into Wisconsin territory at
the thirty eight yard line.

Speaker 6 (03:02:55):
Don't love this a little too easy here these first
two plays to.

Speaker 3 (03:02:59):
Thirty seven o'clock running left of the game, empty backfield.
Three receivers right, two on the left from the Wisconsin
thirty eight yard line, first and ten Western Michigan back
to throw a Wolf four man rush pop fly right
side Want Sambouci in complete, Max Lofi with a step
for step coverage inside the fifteen yard line of the
near side. It's second and ten Western Michigan at the
Wisconsin thirty eight yard line with two twenty six to play.

Speaker 6 (03:03:21):
Sounds like Ma's having a good time down there too.
That Mike picked up it. He seems to make it.
He's having a lot of fun up there playing.

Speaker 3 (03:03:30):
He has come a long way. Injuries kept him out
all of last season, a big part of that Wisconsin's secondary.
I ain't believe he will be just that this year.
Three receivers right, one on the left on second and ten,
Wolf again to throw looking pressure flush to his right.
Penalty markers down, maybe holding and a deep shot is
thrown away intended for Mortimer at the ten yard line

(03:03:51):
of the Ears side. Riccardo Hallman on the coverage. We'll
get the.

Speaker 2 (03:03:57):
Call holding number seventy three offense tenyard penalty remains chegging down.

Speaker 3 (03:04:08):
Let's tackle ted cushy. The penalties have been few and
far between.

Speaker 6 (03:04:14):
There's been a real joys. I thoroughly enjoyed that part
of it. We're not seeing a lot of good float
of the game, and that was the case there where
just Wisconsin got on different levels. And when you do that,
you force your as an offensive line, and when you're chasing,
that's never a good sign. He grabbed him. Good call.

Speaker 3 (03:04:31):
Second in twenty at the Badger forty eight yard line.
Wolf again back to the pearl pockets.

Speaker 4 (03:04:35):
Tied of there as Elijah Hills who crushes down on
the quarterback down goes hey Wolf at the forty six
yard line of Western Michigan.

Speaker 3 (03:04:46):
Elijah Hills the transfer from Albany. With the second we
hit the two minute timeouts here at Camp Randall, we'll
take a break. Two minutes remaining SCons in twenty eight
Western Michigan fourteen. We're back in one minute. This is
Badger football from lear Field.

Speaker 44 (03:05:07):
To be a Badger, it takes dedication, perseverance, and an
unstoppable drive for excellence. Our team at UW Health Sports
Medicine is no different. We bring the same fierce Badger
spirit to every surgery, therapy and training, working tirelessly to
keep Wisconsin's athletes at the top of their game, whether
it's nailing the game winning shot or delivering top tier care.

(03:05:27):
UW Madison and UW Health are a dream team committed
to achieving greatness. Together, we don't just deliver, we dominate.
UW Health Remarkable Hi.

Speaker 3 (03:05:38):
It's Matt Lapaie, voice of the Badgers. On the field,
the Badgers are always on the move off the field.
That's where Evans Transportation comes in. As Wisconsin's threepl they
move over thirty thousand shipments a year right here in
the Badger State. That's dedication to keep things moving here
in Sconnie. Evans is excited to support Badger's student athletes

(03:05:58):
and is a proud partner of which content athletics find
them at evanstrans dot com. That's Evanstrans dot com Go Badgers.
Back to school can be chaotic, and Coles knows that
finding what everyone needs for a great year should be
the one thing that's easy. That's why you can find
eight plus school es Central's ale for a great price.

(03:06:20):
When back to school stirs up the unexpected, it's time
to head back to Cole's two minutes remaining. Wisconsin twenty eight,
Western Michigan fourteen Broncos with the third and very long
back at their own forty six yard line. They need
the twenty eights of Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (03:06:39):
Yeah, I'm very encouraged to see the last couple of plays.
You got a holding penalty and you know, one of
the big question marks was are we going to be
better rushing the pastor with four? And to Western Michigan's credit,
they have stayed normal on down a distance for the
most part. Tonight we haven't seen it. And now when

(03:07:00):
the game is on the line and when you need
to get off the field, you get a chance to
see a little bit of that in the last two plays.
Very encouraging signs moving forward for this group, getting a
little bit of pressure with four.

Speaker 3 (03:07:12):
Third down and twenty six for Western Michigan.

Speaker 6 (03:07:18):
They get Western Michigan a lot of credit.

Speaker 3 (03:07:20):
Uh huh.

Speaker 6 (03:07:21):
This has been a hard fought now. A lot of
times you have these early games and you kind of think,
oh okay, Wisconsin has had their hands full to day.
Western Michigan has brought emptied their bucket here at Camp Rando.

Speaker 3 (03:07:34):
The night there's a team that went four and eight
last year in a conference this year where a lot
of people really like the Miami RedHawks and preseason favorite
mister Michigan and Wisconsin met in the twenty sixteen Coupon Bowl.
It was the final game for PJ. Fleck. There was
the head coach of the Broncos. This team had a

(03:07:57):
terrific year before you moved on to Minnesota. So here
we go, third down in twenty six Western Michigan back
of its own forty six yard line. Three receivers right,
one on the left. So here Abdu Salaam is the
running back, snap the wolf, four man pressure, Wolf steps up,
checks it down. It's caught by Abdu Salam far sideline

(03:08:19):
inside the forty five yard line, gets smack to the boundary.
You got Jake Cheney over there and Xavier Lucas the freshman,
very promising freshman cornerback. They'll mark it the forty two
of Wisconsin where it's fourth down and fourteen.

Speaker 6 (03:08:31):
A nice job by Darryl Peterson, just kind of running
a little game inside and getting vertical, forcing the quarterback
to step out of the pocket get rid of the football.

Speaker 3 (03:08:41):
Nice job by Peterson, and at fifty four to play,
Badger's up fourteen fourth and fourteen Western Michigan at Wisconsin
forty two yard line. Three receivers right, one on the left,
play fake wolf again, back to throw, flushed to his left,
looking throws on the run left side, and it.

Speaker 4 (03:08:55):
Is grabbed, knocked down and picked off inside the twenty
five yard line. Oh my goodness, welcome to Wisconson. Pig
Savior Lucas, the six ' two freshman cornerback out of
Pop It Out Beach, Florida. A young man they are

(03:09:16):
really excited.

Speaker 3 (03:09:17):
About, and that is a reason why he comes up
with the pick at the twenty two yard line of Wisconcert.

Speaker 6 (03:09:25):
Oh boy, I always loved the little one hand stop
that was able to secure it get one foot down.
He worked hard to get the second foot down. I
don't know if he quite did. We don't care because
you don't need to. But just showing that athleticism and
why all the coaches are so high. I'm the future
for this young man.

Speaker 3 (03:09:43):
A minute forty seven remaining, Badgrew's up twenty eight to fourteen.
They take over at their twenty two yard line. Van Dyke,
We'll hand off the cade. Jacamelli and the running back
pops through across the twenty five yard line, it up
to the twenty nine. Yachamelly with strong run of seven
yards is the Badgers looking to burn off the final

(03:10:04):
ninety seconds here in Madison. Western Michigan led, albeit briefly
here in this fourth quarter fourteen to thirteen. It all
turned on a favorable bounce on a punch that went
off of a Bronco. The Badgers recovered and eventually scored
on a Talee Walker run and then Tyler Van Dyke

(03:10:27):
with a six yard run to the end zone as well.
On second down and three of the Badgers twenty nine
yard line, Van Dyke will give it to Yacamelli room
off the right side. He hits it up across the
thirty five, up across the forty into the forty one
yard line. Final minute now at Camp Randall Stadium.

Speaker 6 (03:10:44):
Just been a really good day for the tight ends.
Ashcraft did a great job of sealing his guy and
then Jacamelli just takes it vertical. That was again, really
good job up front. But the tight ends tonight, I
think this running game has been really good. The tight
ends deserve a lot of credit for what they've been
able to do.

Speaker 3 (03:11:04):
On the edges by clock at ten, game clock at
thirty one, setting up to be the final stamp of
the game. Hand off yacamelly across the forty yard line,
driven down at about the forty five yard line, and
that will wrap it up. Very hard fought game tonight,
Western Michigan really showing well. To say the least, the

(03:11:28):
Badgers get the win. They know they have a lot
of work to do, but at crunch time, it was
Wisconsin able to make the plays and the Badgers will
walk off the field a fourteen point winner.

Speaker 6 (03:11:41):
Here tonight, you said it hard fought. I give Western
Michigan a ten of credit. I also give Wisconsin a
ton of credit because this game was hanging in the
balance and they made enough plays when the money was
on the table to find a way to get this
thing done.

Speaker 3 (03:11:58):
Tonight, all right time like today's best in the Game,
brought to you by Old Dominion Freightline. Old Dominion Freightline.
Where it's hard to be the best in the game,
it is proud to support those striving to be the
best in theirs. The difference in the game was taking
advantage of the opportunity right tause the dishandled punts from
Western Michigan and the Badgers capitalized. It really sees control

(03:12:19):
of the game for this.

Speaker 6 (03:12:20):
Yeah, it was dicey, and you know, I really thought
when Western Michigan executed that fake punt to perfection that
you know, we needed to go down and score. Well,
they find a way to get off the field, and
then the punt and the fumble and then you know,
it's easy to get. You get a break, you have
to take advantage of it, and to Wisconsin's credit, they

(03:12:41):
did and from that moment on we never gave the
momentum back to Western Michigan.

Speaker 3 (03:12:47):
The final score Wisconsin twenty eight, Western Michigan fourteen. We're
back with the postgame show, brought to you by your
local Wiscontent and up four dealers. This is Badger football
from lear Field.
