Ce D. Now with the coal of the game, here's
Mark Touscher and the voice of the Badgers, Matt Lapeye.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Good morning from Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, alongside Mark Tauscher,
Patrick Curb, who's our sideline reporter, Mike Keller handling pregame
stats and postgames does a little bit of everything good
Dave mccanner, engineer Isiha Jackson back at the network studio.

Speaker 6 (01:27):
This is Matt Lepeye.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
We welcome you to Wisconsin football and week five of
this season full of the Badgers. They have split their
first four games, dropping their conference opener at usc last
week against the Purdue Boilermakers one in three. Overall, they
fell short in their league opener last week against Nebraska.

(01:48):
This has been a series controlled in a big way
by the Badgers. They have won the last seventeen games.
The last Purdue win twenty one years ago at Camp
Randall Stadium. The Badgers since then, and as dreek of
seventeen in a row overall, have won the last eight
at Camp Randall. As we bring in Mark Tauscher and

(02:09):
we get to our Keys to the Game, presented by
your Badger Land, Chevy Dealers and the all new twenty
twenty five Chevy Equinox. How do the Badgers keep that
streak alive?

Speaker 8 (02:18):
To this.

Speaker 9 (02:19):
I think today more than any other time. You always
want to get out to a fast start, but today
I think is imperative. You're coming off of a game
that you finished real poor.

Speaker 8 (02:28):
Release do you have a team.

Speaker 9 (02:29):
Here in Purdue that is going through a little bit
of turmoil firing their offensive coordinator. So one of the
things that you always talk about when you're playing a
team that you feel like you should be able to
handle and maybe as a little doubt, get off to
that fast start and give them more reasons to doubt.

Speaker 8 (02:46):
So today I really think, I know you're going to
have the running back situation. Walker's going to get a
lot of looks.

Speaker 9 (02:53):
Really establish that early and try and get points or
get out to.

Speaker 8 (02:57):
A fast start. I think when you do that, you're going.

Speaker 9 (02:59):
To give yourself are eight chance to get Purdue to
really start wondering what's going on.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Yes, for those who are just checking us out, and
if you're more of a casual follower Badger football chess MALUSI.
A couple of days ago, the university putting out a
statement the football folks, the chez is you know for
now just stepping away. It's been a been a tough road.

Speaker 6 (03:18):
For him.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
You think of the knee injury a couple of years,
been three years back against Rutgers, missed a chunk of
a time because of an injury two years ago. Last
year against Purdue, the broken leg, the ankle injury.

Speaker 6 (03:31):
Along with it.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
It's been a very very tough stretch for a guy
Taush and we looked at him last year that plays
a great fit for this offense and you know, someone
with a with a just a great football future. And
that's not to say that it's over here. He stepped away.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
For now.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
The door is open for him to come back, but
that's just been a lot for that young man to go.

Speaker 9 (03:51):
Yeah, I give a lot of credit because it could
have been really easy. You know, he broke his leg
down against Purdue last year in West Lafayette.

Speaker 8 (03:58):
And he fought and scrapped a get back, and you know.

Speaker 9 (04:01):
I think, now it's your turning the page or you're
moving on with What Luke talked about all week was
trying to get some rhythm, trying to kind of narrow
that running back field down, because for you know, four
point two yards a game last week against USC we
haven't seen the home runs in the run game and
I think when you build and give guys opportunities to
really get comfortable feeling out how to read these blocks,

(04:24):
that's what we're hoping to see some big explosive runs
this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
And we've talked about here these last couple of games,
in particular Darien Dupree, young man out of Chicago, someone
with you know, they'll they'll tell you he has great
ball skills or the number him out of the backfield
as well as rushing yards. So maybe an increased role
for him today. But as Taus mentioned in the pre game,
don't forget about kaid Yakamelli. And there's still is a

(04:49):
role for a Jackson Acre guy veteran in the program.
But you know, the top couple of running backs just
could get a little.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
Bit more work here today.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
We are about ready for were the coin toss a
coin toss, beg your pardon, honorary captain. Lions are off
this week. Kevin Zeidler great offensive lineman than a lot
of those who hit that category, putting a guy to
my left here in the boot. But Zeitler with the
Detroit Lions right now and looks like you just got

(05:18):
out of the weight room as he escorts those guys.
He's a great deal. He and Sarah, they are great people.
A lot of fun to see him back in town.

Speaker 9 (05:25):
What a career he has put together. And you saw that,
you knew he was gonna be a good NFL player.
But he has just continued wherever he's been. He's in Baltimore,
like New York, Cleveland, and he is just a valued resource.

Speaker 10 (05:38):
Valued.

Speaker 9 (05:38):
I know Detroit is excited to have him and shore
up what they're doing, and unfortunately for Packer fans, that's
not a good thing.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
No, it's not the captain's meeting. We will throw it
down to the field in here for the referee.

Speaker 8 (05:49):
Who's the visitors.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
They'll call the coin toss.

Speaker 8 (05:52):
This is heads and tails?

Speaker 6 (05:54):
Heads tail?

Speaker 8 (05:56):
What's your call?

Speaker 5 (05:57):
Heads?

Speaker 6 (05:58):
Is the call?

Speaker 8 (06:00):
It is tails.

Speaker 11 (06:01):
Wisconsin's won the toss and elects to defer their choice
for who's gonna take the ball? Which way do you
want to kick? Go ahead and put your backs.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
All right, Badgers have elected to defer. That's the voice
of referee Chris Koit. By the way, and before we
get this game started, let's pause ten seconds for station identification,
ten for an ID.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
This is Badger football. From lear Field.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
So with the boiler Makers receiving to start the game,
I mean. One of the interesting storylines this week is
the new coordinator Jason Simmons Ram Harrold dismissed earlier in
the week. Let's get more on that and what the
Badger defense might be in for as we check in
with Patrick Hurt.

Speaker 12 (06:37):
Having an interim offensive coordinator other side presents an interesting
challenge for Wisconsin's defense.

Speaker 13 (06:41):
They don't quite know what they're gonna see.

Speaker 12 (06:43):
Talking to Mike Trussel, the defensive coordinator for Wisconsin, he said,
it's not like they're going to reinvent their playbook and
totally redo things.

Speaker 13 (06:50):
However, you have to be aware for.

Speaker 12 (06:52):
Some things that might be a little out of the ordinary,
including trick plays. Interestingly enough, Wisconsin's wide receivers coach Kenny
Geyden was in this position last year with Arkansas. Eight
games into the season, they fired their offensive coordinator and
promoted him to the interim OC job. You know what
he did, He ran a trick play on the very
first play from scrimmage and it worked and they beat

(07:12):
Florida thirty eight thirty five. So it's a little bit
of a cautionary tale of what you could see from
this other team.

Speaker 13 (07:18):
Jason Simmons most probably.

Speaker 12 (07:20):
Most known for his work at Ben Davis High School
in Indianapolis, and I can confirm that Wisconsin did take
a peek at some Ben Davis offensive footage this week,
but not very much in all honesty.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
So if you're Kenny Guiden, then you get a big
hit on your first plays of coordinator. You just dropped
the mics.

Speaker 9 (07:36):
Good, I'm done, put your resume tape out and let
it roll from there. I think just listening to Purdue
throughout the week, I think one of the things a
lot like what we've been saying here, explosive plays, I
would be shocked. I know, running the football and that's
you're gonna be a key part to what Purdue's trying
to do. But I would think they're gonna take some
shots today. Try to get big chunk plays when your

(07:58):
offensive struggle, that's the best win.

Speaker 8 (08:00):
Kind of get a kickstarted.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
Davin Lomb set to kick off as the Badgers and
the home Cardinal white pants white trim Purdue. The traveling
white jerseys the gold and black trim Purdue will receive.
Go left to right south to north here at Camp
Randall Stadium. Lom on the run up and the kick
is in the air, Hit it high, hit it deep,
and it will hit halfway into the end zone for

(08:21):
the touchback. The Batomakers will started their twenty five yard
line and this game is underway.

Speaker 8 (08:26):
That's what we're used to.

Speaker 9 (08:27):
I think last week there was the face mask early
twenty or another fifteen yards so I thought last week.
Obviously we muffed the punt, but the punting game and
the special teams I thought really helped, especially obviously in
that first half of helping it part of that complimentary
football that we're gonna be looking for today.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
And Hudson car the senior quarterback out of Austin, Texas
three years played with the Long Horns. Started a handful
of games two years ago, had a good solid year
for the Boilers. Last year it's been up and down
or this season. He has four receivers to either side. Maccaby,
the running back is card will flip it right side

(09:05):
that is caught by den Island. Morris sat across the
thirty five yard line and gets banged out of bounds
by Austin Brown at the thirty eight yard line. On
the near side at a thirteen yard gain right out
of the shoots first and ten for the Boilermakers.

Speaker 9 (09:17):
Yeah, and that's what you're trying to get, you know,
your first time out calling plays. You want to get
easy throws, You want to get easy completions to kind
of get into a rhythm. Just a simple little naked
bootleg flipped it out there. Zachman got caught up in
the wash a little bit, wasn't able to run.

Speaker 8 (09:32):
That gave him an opportunity to pick up that first down.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Jiron Tibbs will come out wide to the left, Jamal
Edrin to the right, burst in ten for the Boilermakers
at their own thirty eight yard line, floaded pistol formation.
Devin maccaby is the tailbag and Card will give it
to him. Off the right side. Maca be to the
forty yard line and gets hit hard by Hunter Wohler,

(09:55):
helping lead the charge gain of a couple for maka
Bey to the forty at Purdue or it's second down
and eight.

Speaker 9 (10:00):
Yeah, just a pretty good job up front of kind
of occupying guys and given Hunter Waller a chance to
read it, see it, shoot it, and go make the
play for a quick little one or two yard pickup.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
The only lot too in the Badger defense right now
we mentioned Max Lofi is so questionable, a little tweak
going through pregame warmups out the coliseum last Saturday. Second
down and age just across the due forty yard line.
Card takes a stamp look, shoots it over the middle,
caught by Max Claire across the forty five yard line.

(10:33):
A lot too on the tackle penalty marker down though
just behind the line of scrimmage, and a holding penalty
against the Boilermakers. This is a very heavily penalized team.
Ninety two yards on average per game Perdue will cost
itself in penalties.

Speaker 9 (10:50):
Yeah, and I think that you normally you'll see holds
on you know, a run play that was a quick
three step drop. That's a good sign from Wisconsin standpoint
of Purdue tackling our hold and getting called early on
a quick throw like Produge.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Just did lots of out Saustin Brown back in you
got Naser fort Green, Ricardo Holm in the safeties, or
rather the corners huncher roller Freston Zachman, the safety's card
throwing left side of the tight end in complete a
low pass intended for Max Claire on second down and long,
and I'll make it third and long for the Boilermakers
back of their thirty one yard line.

Speaker 6 (11:24):
It's third down in seventeen.

Speaker 9 (11:25):
Just trying to get the ball out of his hands
quick again, get it, get it out in space. Jake
Cheney did a great job. Even if he was gonna
make that play. Jake Cheney had him all eyeballed up.
It was gonna bring him down for maybe a one
yard game.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Then Max Lofi in the secondary for Wisconsin, Sebastian Cheeks
along with John Pius the outside linebackers. Third down in
seventeen for the Boilermakers, They're on thirty one yard line.
Morris set the receiver in motion left to right, the
re receivers out side of the formation.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
They'll keep it on the ground.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Makabi hits it off the right side thirty five across
the forty yard line, and Jakey will pull them down
from behind at the forty one yard line and produced
territory still well short of the first down. And on
fourth and seven, the Boiler Bakers are punting.

Speaker 8 (12:07):
Yeah, and Wisconsin will take that.

Speaker 9 (12:09):
You get eight nine ten yard run, But I think
they're at a point where if it's not manageable, they're
gonna be very selective. We've already talked about the interceptions.
Pick six is take the ten yard run, Wisconsin more
than happy gonna get the football back here.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Early in this court, Keeling Crimmins is on the punt
tyrrel Henry at the fifteen yard line of Wisconsin Crimens,
averaging forty five and a half yards per punt line
of scrimmage. The Boiler's forty one snap back and the
kick is in the air. Drifting to his right is Henry.
He'll catch at the fourteen, across the fifteen to twenty
yard line and stumbles to the turf shy of the
twenty five and the Badgers go on offense for the

(12:44):
first time after a forty six yard punt nine on
the return, Badgers of first and ten at their own
twenty three yard line, a little more than two and
a half minutes gone by no score.

Speaker 8 (12:53):
Yeah, just what we were hoping for.

Speaker 9 (12:55):
I know, give up one first down there, but this
is kind of the start that we were could forget
off the field. Perdue gave us, you know, a ten
yard holding penalty set them back.

Speaker 8 (13:04):
They weren't able to overcome it.

Speaker 9 (13:05):
Now, I think this is going to be a day
where you see this running game get moving. That's the plan,
and let's see if Wisconsin get off to a good start.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Will Pauling slot to the left to Wee Walker is
the running back from the twenty three yard line Wisconsin territory.
Riley Nowakowski get the tied end, winging the right side,
lock pulls it looking as time winds it up, shoots
it deep down the right side.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
For Green, it's incomplete at the.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Thirty yard line of Perdue Nyland Green on the coverage
pass intended for Brycing Green. Second and ten for the
Badgers is start number two for Braydon Locke. That's sent
it down to Patrick Kurb. What do you got on
QB one today? Patrick?

Speaker 12 (13:44):
You know Braiden Locke, He's very measured and low key,
but this staff will tell you that he's got.

Speaker 13 (13:48):
A different moxie. Now in year two, I'll get more
after this.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
All right on second out and ten for the Badgers
their own twenty three yard line, two receivers left with
Pauling in the slot. Anthony is wide, Rice and Green
out to the right. On second down Lock and it
looks like a busted play.

Speaker 6 (14:03):
Rolling to his right, throws.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
It in the dirt, incomplete, and this communication there no
one to even fake it to. And it's third down
in ten full the Badgers their own twenty three yard line.
We'll get more unlocked when we get a little more
time to do it with Patrick tretch Kekahuna checking in
now as Riley Nowakowski will come out.

Speaker 9 (14:22):
Yeah, I'm not sure if we just the running back
went the wrong way. It looked like it would have
been an option play and you could throw off of it.
No one to go, Luck Smart, just get her to
the football, lived to play another day.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
The receiver's left one on the right. On third down,
Lock to throw, fires to the left and it is
not to weigh incomplete. Will pauling the intended receiver Kendrick
Breedlove over on the coverage. I thought Will got his
hands on it, but Breedlove may have disrupted. It falls incomplete,
and it's three and out for the Badgers in their

(14:54):
first possession.

Speaker 9 (14:55):
Yeah, you're throwing front and obviously we're looking at Braid
and Lock and talking about arm strength. You went from
far hash to the boundary and a pretty good throw,
not quite enough on there at gave reed Love enough
chance to stripe right down as the ball was getting
into Pollings Han.

Speaker 8 (15:08):
It's really nice play by him.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Atticus Bertram's is on the punt, Dylan Fenemon d for
the Boilermakers. Kick is in the air, theeneman waits for it,
and he dropped it inside the thirty and he is
able to pounce back at the twenty eight yard line. Boy,
something about catching punts this season, both the Badgers and
the team they're playing. But the Boilermakers will secure it

(15:33):
and they'll take over at their twenty eight yard line.
A forty eight yard punt from Bertrams. Today's game brought

six left in the first quarter. The Badgers and Boilers

Three four gone by both teams with a possession gets

(18:00):

Speaker 6 (18:01):
No score first to ten Purdue on it's own twenty eight.

Speaker 9 (18:04):
So you know my grant analysis, Let's run the football,
let's get this thing up to a good start.

Speaker 16 (18:09):
Me.

Speaker 9 (18:09):
Yeah, obviously that wasn't the case there. So I do
think at some point today we'll see that. But it
just shows you some of the limitations. We saw it
with Purdue a ten yard holding penalty, they weren't able
to overcome it. Wisconsin kind of in that similar boat
where if you get into third and long, which they
were tough sledding. Unfortunately, weren't able to convert the muffed punt.

Speaker 8 (18:28):
Perdue was able to hold onto.

Speaker 6 (18:30):
It first and ten for the boiler Makers as hard.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
We'll pitch it off left side, Elijah Jackson sweeping around
the end, across the thirty, across the thirty five up
to the thirty six yard line on a gain of
eight sec.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
It down in two for the boiler Makers.

Speaker 8 (18:44):
Yeah, j Jenny read it.

Speaker 9 (18:45):
We ended up was picked up and Hunter Wallard, you
don't see that very often. He came filling from his
safety spot and just missed him and that gave him
instead of a three or four yard pickup.

Speaker 8 (18:55):
Who was able to pick up eight from.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
The Purdue thirty six yard line. Seg it down to
Reggie Love, the running back. Drew On Tibbs out wide
to the left, Jamal Edrin wide to the rights. We
bivered the tight end winging the right side. Card We'll
give it to Love. Hit behind the line of scrimmage
and does well to get back to it. John Pius
outside linebacker with your senior out of Arlington, Virginia on

(19:22):
the tackle and they'll place the ball closer to the
thirty five. So it's a third Donald a short three
for the boa Makers.

Speaker 8 (19:28):
Really good job by Pious.

Speaker 9 (19:30):
They're a breeding man, their tight end coming to kick
him out, and he did not allow him to kick
him out. He ended up just kind of going around
him on the outside, which normally you would be able
to do, but then came flat down the line and
made a nice play in the backfield, setting up this third.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
And three down line at a Brandon lane and Elijah Hills.
Two receivers left, two receivers rights. Max Claire, one of
those on the left, comes over winging the left side,
snapped the Hudson card four man rush card throwing right
side and it is incomplete at the forty yard line
of Wisconsin. Jamal Edrin, the inten receiver, looked like he
got a hand on it, but Rico Hallman, with the

(20:03):
tight coverage, able to help break that up.

Speaker 6 (20:06):
When the Boilermakers are punting on fourth and three.

Speaker 8 (20:08):
I love Ricardo Hallman Man.

Speaker 9 (20:10):
He just continues to show up and that was almost
like a back shoulder throw. Ricardo read it and was
able to get his hand in there, and he made
sure to let him know that that was incomplete After
that play.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Kelan kremin Is on the punt for a second time,
Tyrell Henry deep at the Wisconsin twenty yard line four
and a half minutes in no score.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Staff the Krimins steps.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Up and the kick is away and over in moving
to his right as Henry a late signal on the
fair catch, he makes it at the twenty one yard
line in Wisconsin territory. That was a forty three yard punt.
Ten twenty four left in the first quarter, and we
will take another break. Just as touchdown takes great teamwork,
a successful farm takes great tractors, combines, ey tools, and

more of is at caseih dot com. Slash Badgers ten
twenty four left of the first square in Wisconsin.

Speaker 12 (22:53):
Moxie is the word the coaches used last year when
he was the starting quarterback. He was always looking over
his shoulder because he knew it was a temporary job
until Mordecai ca back. This year, there is no Tyler
van Dyke coming back, so he's just got a different
level of confidence. But the efficiency is the thing that
they really want to improve. He's a fifty percent passer
pretty much in his career. He's already over three today.
But they really think there passes that he can and

(23:14):
we'll be making to get that up.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
He's he is tall.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
We walker to his right for the Badger twenty one
yard line, first to ten hand off Walker trying to
hit the left side. Now reversus direction as route twenty five.
Walker slips a tackle, drives up close to the thirty. Well,
that's began some chicken salad out of you know what,
didn't turn that into a nine yard game.

Speaker 6 (23:33):
Second and one.

Speaker 9 (23:34):
Tell me more, Matt, Yeah, that's just a hard stretch
play to the left, and you know we does a
great job of staying patient not seeing it. And typically
you see somebody bounce it that far back out you're ah.
But he was able to bounce it and get forward.
Really just a great one man effort.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
There five four Badgers a second and one at their
own thirty yard line. Lock will give it to Walker
again and he'll hit the left side of the line
and crashes his way for the first down. All the
Badgers they will mark. It's like just shy the thirty
five yard line. They'll put it at the thirty four
First and ten.

Speaker 9 (24:07):
Yeah, today is gonna be I think there's gonna be
a lot of room on cutbacks. That's what you have
to and Walker has to continue to push front side
and then cut it back.

Speaker 8 (24:16):
Wisconsin feels good about that.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Walkman First and ten short pass left side of rolling
catch made by Tucker Ashcraft at the thirty nine yard line.
Dylan Thieneman, sophomore, the Outstanding Freshman, was a Conference Freshman
of the Year last year was Dylan Thieneman. He's on
the tackle gain of five. Second down, Badgers back on
the ball at their own thirty nine Lock little option left,

(24:38):
He'll toss at the walker.

Speaker 6 (24:39):
He gets hit right away.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Tawee trying to squeeze a yard out of it, and
that's all he is gonna get. Will Helt on the
defensive line rush in makes the stop and it's third
down and four for Wisconsin.

Speaker 21 (24:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (24:51):
I think that's what they were trying to do on
the in the first A little option to the right.
They obviously feel like they can do some things out
on the perimeter because Purdue is gonna back the box.
That was you have to put pressure on that defensive
end to make a play on you.

Speaker 8 (25:05):
That was just well defended by Purdue.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Third down conversions overall have been a problem this season
for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (25:12):
Get third and short, it's good.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
It's third and four right now, two receivers left, two
receivers right as lockets the snap, looking as time to scan,
fires to the right, broke it up being completed. He
wanted Bricing Green and on the coverage was Boutris Alessandro
and his starting call from Archivious Brown today and the
Badgers are forced to punt from their own forty yard line.

Speaker 8 (25:35):
Yeah, great protection.

Speaker 9 (25:36):
I know quarterbacks have to have that internal clock, but
that was the time he had all day. Riley Malman
did a great job of coming down and firing his
guy onto Huber. Then was came out back outside all
kinds of time. They're just good coverage by Purdue. They
played it right at the sticks. They able to knock
it away and forcing a punch ran Atticus.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Bertram's on the punt again theenum and deep at the
Purdue fifteen yard line. Snap to Bertrams and the kickers
away theo looking up into that son and he muffed
it again, and the Badgers will pounce inside the fifteen
yard line. Case it Fifer, the long stapper comes up
with it a theme and really fighting that son.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
Those eleven am games.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Here really tough when you are looking south to north.
He muffed one, got away with it the first time.
He doesn't get away with it now first and ten
for the Badgers at the produced twelve.

Speaker 9 (26:27):
Yeah, the ball bounce his funny ways, and when you
continue to put it on the ground, bad things are
gonna happen. And there's no doubt you could see he
had his hand up. It wasn't a fair catch. It
was to try to block that son out was unable
to the ball got into his body and give Bertram's credit,
nice high hank time. Let his guys get down there
to put a little pressure on him. And now Wisconsin

(26:48):
gets that opportunity early to take advantage of a turnover.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Walker the running back pauling slot left, Anthony wide left, CJ.

Speaker 6 (26:55):
Williams to the.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Right hand, off Walker off the right side to the
ten to the five touchdown was Wi cons Tom Wee.
Walker who scored twice a week ago, gets in in
the first quarter this afternoon.

Speaker 9 (27:08):
Man, you talk about a great backside block. It's just
a simple zone play to the right. But what Renfro
the center and Brunner the left guard did was completely
washed their man into the back right back to the
linebacker and that from eight to ten yards that is
about as easy of a run.

Speaker 8 (27:25):
Great job upfront, especially by Brunner.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Just like last week at sc the Badgers getting quickly
after a muffed punts, it was Walker from eighteen at
the Colisee, and last week it's Walker from twelve. Today
here in Madison, as the pat from Nathaniel Vacos is good.

it hit the back line of the end zone. Now
eighteen kick offs of Dawn for touchbacks on the twenty
off the foot of Gavin Lound so far this season,
first and ten well the Buttomakers at their twenty five
yard line.

Speaker 9 (31:08):
Yeah, and that's such a weapon, especially in the college game,
where you can sometimes we saw that last week with
USC's return game, and when you can limit and take
that out of the equation, and you know from a
defensive courtator standpoint, you're.

Speaker 8 (31:21):
Gonna be starting at.

Speaker 9 (31:22):
The twenty five. That gives you a lot of let's
just sleep at night.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
Attack at Curtis, Jehem Thomas, you're inside linebackers n Lowry,
Darryl Peterson on the outside, Dylan Johnson the freshman the
d Lion Florida address, and who twenty five first and
ten his car gives it to Lockerby across the twenty
five yard line. Whip to the turf at the thirty.
Not really a clean exchange there, but it worked out

(31:48):
for five yards. Curtis on the stop for Wisconsin second
out and five for Purdue.

Speaker 9 (31:54):
Yeah, Dylan Johnson there at defensive tackle and he's finding
out you get moving. Perdue was able to move him,
finish him off, and that allowed that quick little five yard.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Pickup second down for the Boilermakers. Leland Smith out wide
to the left, Jamar Rigby to the right, Ben Furtney
lining up in the backfield for the Boilermakers. Maccabee is
behind the quarterback. This card get some organized. Blay clock
is at five. Now down at two. Here's the snap

(32:25):
to car You'll give it to Maka d off the
left side, hits the edge thirty thirty five yard line.
Check to the bounce by the linebacker Jahem Thomas at
the thirty seven yard line of the far side. Gain
of seven at a first down for the Boilermakers.

Speaker 9 (32:37):
Yeah, just a good job of kind of kicking out
Darryl Peterson and allowed getting just to the edge. It's
the last thing you want to do as the defense
is give up that corner.

Speaker 8 (32:47):
Give up that edge. Purdue was able to capture at
that time and allow him pick up that first down.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
Six fifty three left in the first quarter. Seven nothing Wisconsin,
first in ten Purdue at its own thirty seven yard line.
Two receivers left, one on the rights, could be the
running back snapped the card. He will give it to
Maccabee over the right side and Curtis gets him by
the shoot tops brings him down at the forty one
yard line Purdue territory on a gain of four.

Speaker 8 (33:12):
Just a simple little RPO and I could.

Speaker 9 (33:14):
He does a nice job of jumping over some traffic
and some bodies down on the ground. Curtis attacking Curtis
does a great job of getting him down to the
ground for a three yard pickup.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Well, they do call him crazy Legs. I thought somebody
else around here had that nickname back in the day.
But it could be a really good story. Two star
recruit out of high school and spurting into one of
the better running backs they've had in West Lafayette. Four
receivers to either side forty one due second down and six,

(33:44):
Card to throw, shoots it to the right cut by
Rick By, got hit right away by Austin Brown and
progress to the forty five yard line of the Boilert Bakers,
where it's third down.

Speaker 8 (33:54):
And two ye Darryl Peterson did a really good job
of avoiding.

Speaker 9 (33:58):
He kind of came inside on the right tackle and
then feed him around the corner, and that forced Card
to throw it maybe a little bit more earlier than
he wanted to allow Brown to collapse in there and
make a play setting up his.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
Third short The boy of the Makers thirty five percent
on third down that rank sixteen in the Conference double
wide to the lefts right. You love the running back
and Card'll give it to him and he gets hit quickly.
Love taking down. Look like Darryl Peterson screaming off the edge,
stops the running back of a yard short and Ryan

(34:33):
Walters sending on the punt team on fourth and one
from the Purdue forty six yard line.

Speaker 9 (34:38):
Yeah, just a great job of getting off on the
snap count and then getting down the line of scrimmage immediately,
not letting it running back get off to pick up
that first out. Great job of reading it, reacting, going
and making the play.

Speaker 3 (34:53):

left to the first quarter seven nothing Wisconsin. The Badger's
back on offense, starting at their nine yard line. We
Walker remains the running back. Four totes twenty six yards

(37:41):
and a touchdown for Walker in this first quarter and
will shift to the left of the quarterback Rayton, Lock
and Locke will give it to Walker, fitting off the
right side of the line across the ten. He falls
forward to about the twelve game of three or so
Yonny carloftis George's younger brother, you know, Lockes Junior out

(38:01):
of West Lafayette on the tackle second down.

Speaker 6 (38:03):
For the Badgers.

Speaker 8 (38:04):
Yeah, that's just a good hard three yards.

Speaker 9 (38:06):
They pulled runner Ashcraft as well, able to kick some
guys out and like the setting that pad's getting.

Speaker 8 (38:12):
Lower and not a lot of rooms still picked up.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Three letch Kicklerhonas lot left, CJ. Williams wide left on
second and seven other hand off the Walker off the
right side, slips to his right, ball popped out, but
the play was blown down at the fourteen yard line.
So gain of two for Tellbee Walker and the Badgers
have a third and five.

Speaker 9 (38:31):
So I love the fact Walker is really he's got
his head down, he's rolling downhill. I think he's you're
trying to get him in that lather mode as we
talked about in the pregame. But that was the case
there where you also have to have a little patience.
There was a big cutback. I know you're trying to
get some cutbacks here, we've already seen some success with it.
Keep pressing that front side hole. If he gets shows
a little patience there, there's gonna be a lot of

(38:52):
room on the back side of this Purdue defense, we'll.

Speaker 6 (38:54):
Come out empty.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Three receivers right, two on the left walker one of
those on the right shotguns snapped the lock on down
looking throws over the middle.

Speaker 8 (39:01):
Broke it up in koes early.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Yeah, the flag flies. Yeah, pass was intended for Will Pauling.
That looked like that was Breed Love getting on Pauling's
back defense.

Speaker 11 (39:13):
Number ten spot foul automatic first down man.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
The Badgers will gladly accept that first and ten four
Wisconsin with three twenty two left of the first quarter
with a home team leading seven to nothing.

Speaker 8 (39:25):
Yeah, I mean he tried to fight.

Speaker 9 (39:26):
That's tough on those slant routes, and especially with the
amount of time they're expecting the ball to come out quick.
He hooked him with that left hand. He got there
about a second earlier than we thought.

Speaker 6 (39:37):
Darien Dupree.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Now they're running back to the left of lock tretch
Kacklahuna slot right motions, left hand or rather thinking the
hand of pulling in his lock, he'll throw a left
side no. Lakowski gets chopped down near the twenty five
yard line. Alossandro makes the play for the Ballermakers on
a gain of six.

Speaker 6 (39:55):
Licing Green. The Wisconsin slow to get up.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
He finally does, but he is favoring his left leg
right now, so Bryson is going to slowly make his
way to the Wisconsin sideline. Three oh nine left in
the opening quarters, seven to nothing Wisconsin. The Badgers will
have a second and four when play resumes. Play went
to the left, Green was wide to the right, So.

Speaker 8 (40:22):
Yeah, I want to see if it was.

Speaker 9 (40:23):
Hopefully it's not a non contact deal. That's always the
thing you're worried about. But I was watching Dupree. I
thought he hit the ball and it was exciting on
that side of it. Then obviously you know he he
pulled it and was able to pick up a quick
six over there.

Speaker 8 (40:35):
And that's that's the beauty of this.

Speaker 9 (40:37):
And when you when you can read those guys and
make put all that pressure on these defensive ends and
on these outside linebackers, it really helps your run game,
especially as the game continues too.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
On Fold it is second down and four for the
Badgers at their twenty five yard line, So we snaffed
the Lochiel handed to Dupree off the left side. Penalum
arkers fly as Dupree is cooled to the ground at
about the twenty eight yard line.

Speaker 6 (41:05):
This usually indicates holding. Let's check the call. Chris Quake
is the referee.

Speaker 8 (41:10):
It's like a hands to the face. They're trying to call.

Speaker 11 (41:12):
Here, personal foul, legal, hands to the face, defense zero
better and yard twilty automatic first down.

Speaker 3 (41:19):
We like that, hands to the face, Jeffrey Imba, senior
defensive linemen. So the Boilermakers continuing to hurt themselves with penalties,
and now the Badgers get a brush out of downs
at their own forty three yard line. Two fifty left
to the first quarter, seven to nothing, Wisconsin leeds perdue.

Speaker 9 (41:36):
And that's a frustration thing you always. I love it
when defensive linemen are doing that. They got their hands
up and that means you're getting stonewalled and you're having
a hard time.

Speaker 8 (41:43):
And love that. The ref caught that picked up the
fifteenth and.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
Now official step in a timeout taken by Purdue just
before the snab Bachers had a backfield combo there Darian
Dupree and Jackson Acre first charge time out for the
Boiler Bakers. We'll hold it here with twenty sixth left
in the opening quarter.

Speaker 9 (42:02):
Yeah, I always get nervous when you see that flag
thrown right there. Usually it's holding or something like that.
But what you're seeing, Wisconsin, I think feels really good
today about the running game and being able, being able
to reach and do great things on the backside of
this defense. Because Purdue, this isn't a shoot the gap

(42:23):
and try to make a ton of plays. It is
a gap conscious not trying to give up space. And
I think that Wisconsin feels really confident that they're gonna.

Speaker 8 (42:31):
Be able to do some things on the backside today.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
All right, boiler Makers, using their first time out, we're
set to resume play first and ten for the Badgers
their own forty three yard line, single back offense. Now
with dupre to the right of lock Tretch, Keecker hearing
the slot and left little pop pass. Here comes Tretch
off the right side. He is across the forty five
yard line and pulled out announced by a Lassandro at

(42:58):
the forty eight yard line. Yeah, get the ball in
his hands. So that's what they do there with that
little pop pass, a gain of five second down for
the Badger.

Speaker 8 (43:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (43:05):
I love the little pop pass because then if you
know things go south ballflaw, you're you're okay, it's not
a turnover, but you're right.

Speaker 8 (43:11):
There's just another gear that Kikahuna has.

Speaker 9 (43:14):
You want to see him get that, even though he
only picked up four or five yards. It gets the
defense moving laterally, it makes him think about another thing
on defense.

Speaker 6 (43:22):
That's second down.

Speaker 3 (43:22):
Lock will pull it, rolling right, throwing right. That is
caught benning Anthony at the thirty, splits to the twenty.
He's to the ten to the pod touchdown Wisconsin. Oh
the speed he hit another gear, Vinny, Anthony outruns the secondary.

Speaker 6 (43:38):
How it's thirteen to nothing Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (43:41):
Great ball skills by Lock again, really, you know, with
the mesh point pulled, it made that read, gave Anthony
a little bit of room, and then he slams the
brakes on Perdugo's flying by. And then, as you said, Matt,
the speed and explosiveness just trump outrun everybody else. To
finish that run, picked his feet up, didn't let the
ankle tackle go and another big play for Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Fifty two yards as Vake goes with the extra point
that is in the air and it is good. Ford
scoring drives six plays ninety one yards to two and
a half minutes Braydon Locke fifty two yard pitch and
catch to Vinnie Anthony, and with a minute fifty six
left in the first quarter, it's now fourteen to nothing,

(44:25):
Wisconsin leading Purdue.

Speaker 6 (44:27):
As we go downstairs again, Patrick, what do you have.

Speaker 12 (44:30):
A big part of Phil Longo's offense is yards after
the catch, and that's something Wisconsin didn't really get a
hold of at USC and so they only had sixty
seven yards come after the catch up they're one eighty.

Speaker 13 (44:40):
That's about a third.

Speaker 12 (44:41):
They really want that ratio to be almost fifty percent
of their yards come after the catch. That's exactly that
play right there is exactly how this offense is designed.
We talked to if we heard Braden Lock say attack grass,
that's I think what he means. Find open space, Let
your playmakers have some freedom to move and get yards
after the catch.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
We had Fickle asked about Vinnie Anthony and his big
touchdown catch last week, going, yeah, you're kind of waiting
for that because we know, among other things, beyond his
football ability, he was a pretty big time track athlete
high school from Louisville. Now we're seeing that athleticism and
speed coming into play.

Speaker 9 (45:18):
We definitely saw that there the elusiveness, I kind of
slammed the brakes on and then picked it right back
up and then just outran everybody from Purdue to finished
that fifty two yard tug.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
David Loam on the run up, picks in the air
and again Produce showing no interest in fielding that or
should Purdue it because that hit.

Speaker 6 (45:36):
About eight yards deep.

Speaker 3 (45:38):
Now the touchback quota makers starting at their twenty five
yard line.

Speaker 9 (45:41):
Yeah, And I think one of the things you look
at that and you know, Vinnie Anthony did a good
job of running his route, sitting and Braydon Lock did
a good job of throwing it. But I said, those
ball skills because you know, watching from up here, really
good job of faking in that mesh point and Produce.
Defense has to honor that part of it, and that
has bodies, so instead of it being a fifteen yard game,

(46:03):
there's bodies to the other side, and that leaves Purdue
more vulnerable to those big plays that Vinnie Anthony was just.

Speaker 8 (46:09):
Able to make.

Speaker 3 (46:10):
Inside linebackers for Wisconsin Jake Cheney and Christian a leg Roll.
You got Sebaskan Cheeks and John Pius on the outside.
Two receivers left, one of the right on first and
ten part fakes it pulls, it looks to throw, has
some time chaining now in hot pursuit, pardon running out
of time, and down he goes. Cheeks hits to the quarterback.
All set up though by the work of Jake Cheney

(46:32):
and then Sebastian Cheeks there to finish back inside the
twenty yard line of Purdue.

Speaker 6 (46:36):
They'll mark at the seventeen.

Speaker 8 (46:37):
Yeah, just great effort by Cheney.

Speaker 9 (46:39):
He went in and kind of missed him on his
first run and then forced him to step up. And
then that's where Pius and Cheeks and the entire crew
was able to get in there and finish him off.

Speaker 8 (46:49):
Beautiful effort there by.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
Cheney seg it down in eighteen for the Boilermakers back
of their seventeen yard line. Two receivers left likewise and
the right now Max Claire in mos you to the
formation card little toss left side. Here's Reggie Love across
the twenty yard line and he gets slammed by a
Hunter Wohler who just throws his body all over the
field week in and week out. That's exactly what he

(47:12):
did there while he stopped at the twenty three of
Wisconsin in the Boilermakers of a third and twelve.

Speaker 9 (47:17):
Yeah, Hunter Willer. We mentioned he missed the tackle earlier,
he wasn't missing this one. Brought his feet through contact
and made sure ain't to let him know about it afterwards,
but bringing wanting to make sure you feel it when
you're finishing that run.

Speaker 3 (47:29):
Forty three seconds left in the first quarter, fourteen nothing
Wisconsin the Boilermakers at third and twelve of their twenty
three yard line. This car takes a snap badger sending
four card fires over the middle, tip up end and
is almost o their set technog once, not twice, but
three times, but it falls to the turf incomplete and
Purdue is forced to punt. A Legro had a couple

(47:53):
of cracks at it ended up like a pinball.

Speaker 6 (47:56):
It went off of a.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
Legro, Zachman and a Leegro again, but pe punning on
fourth and twelve.

Speaker 9 (48:02):
Well Alegro got back into his drop and was able
to tip it up with his left hand and bounces off.
Ze tipped it up Zach but I thought he was
gonna get it, dropped it and then it came back
to Allegro. So a lot of opportunities. Unfortunately unable to
secure it for Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (48:17):
Raymond's on the punt, Badger's got some heat. The kick
is away.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
Tyrell Henry will cradle it this shy the thirty five
yard line in Wisconsin territory.

Speaker 6 (48:26):
Forty three yard punch.

Speaker 3 (48:28):

Twenty four seconds left to the first quarter, fourteen to nothing,
Wisconsin Badgers a first and ten at their thirty five

(48:51):
yard line.

Speaker 9 (48:51):
It's got to love everything about this quarter of football.
You're getting all that complimentary football. There was another opportunity.
You have to take advantage of it. But Algro did
a great job getting back making one play.

Speaker 8 (49:03):
Just got to finish it with the catch lock.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
We'll hand it off to Gary and Dupree over the
left side of the line across the thirty five yard line.
He'll move the stack. It's about the thirty seven on
the bottom of the pile. His defensive tackle, Cole Brofard.
What could be the final play of this opening quarter?

Speaker 9 (49:20):
Yeah, and you heard this week we want to see
get kind of lower the stable down a little bit,
get guys opportunities to get into rhythm. Walker with a
really good quarter six carries thirty one yards and now
Dupree getting his crack at We.

Speaker 3 (49:34):
Have hit the end of the first quarter. A good
quarter in need for the Wisconsin Badgers. But ours is

for do nothing back in a moment.

Speaker 29 (51:27):
Back at Camp Reandles Stadium. A quick scoreboard update on
Mike Heller. Badgers lead fourteen to nothing at the end
of one big ten. Last night, Number six Oregon handled
Michigan State thirty one ten in Eugene. Dylan Gabriel two
hundred and fifty seven yards, two tds, two interceptions. It
is next week that Oregon gets Ohio State in a
game in Eugene.

Speaker 8 (51:48):
Big ten.

Speaker 29 (51:48):
Right now at the end of a quarter Penn State
number seven of the country, scoreless against UCLA, Top twenty five,
number twenty five Texas A and m ten nothing over
ninth rank Missouri late in the.

Speaker 3 (51:59):
First corps man, all right, Mike, thank you very much.
Let's check in quickly with Patrick.

Speaker 5 (52:04):
Bryce and Green.

Speaker 12 (52:04):
The wide receiver who limped off earlier spent a lot
of time in the Mieller Sports Medicine ten. I'm happy
to report that he's out now and they've put a
brace on his leg. They're calling him questionable right now
with a lower body injury. So we'll have to kind
of see if he can loose it up here on
the sideline. But at least he's out of the tent
and still in uniform with his helet. That's always a
good sign, all.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
Right, Patrick, thanks much. Fourteen nothing Wisconsin. As we start
the second quarters, Second down and seven for the Badgers
at their own thirty eight yard line, loaded pistol. Look
Jackson Aker, kaid Yachamellidarian Duprey in the backfield, Lock backpedaling,
looks to throw over the middle, tipped up in almost intercepted,
intended for Vinnie Anthony mold incomplete, little break there for Wisconsin.

(52:45):
Now third and seven for the Wisconsin thirty eight yard line.

Speaker 9 (52:48):
Yeah, you said the loaded pistol, and typically you'll see
a lot of run out of that that Wisconsin decides
to throw it. Purdue brought a little bit of pressure
and the tailback unable to pick up that pressure. That
forced Locked to throw it a little bit early. Very
fortunate that that ball was not intercepting.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
Single back offense. Now tow We Walker is in there
lot left slot right on third down and eighth Lock
gets the snap, Purdue bringing four lock, winds it up,
fires and it is and it is complete by Will
pau picked off. He beg your pardon and Pauling is
shaken up that pass picked off as Purdue gets its

(53:29):
first turnover of this season and Pauling favoring his right leg.
Quite honestly, that's the bigger concern than the interception. Is
that look like it just popped out of the hands
of Pauling and Kendrick Breedlove came up with it for
the boiler Makers.

Speaker 9 (53:49):
Yeah, the ball actually had popped out of Will's hands
and kind of sat on his back and Reedlove was
able to just grab it off of his back, show
it and I think that's a clean up interception And
looks like Will hurt his lower leg two on that,
So yeah, a lot of concern obviously the injury. We
hope Will's all right, but good ball skills by Breedlove

(54:10):
to be able to secure that after Will dropped it
lands on his back and he ends up pulling it in.

Speaker 3 (54:18):
Boiler Makers have it in Wisconsin territory at the forty
five yard line, opening minutes, second quarter, fourteen to nothing Wisconsin,
but now Purdue with a chance to get something done
off a sudden change. Maccaby the running back card, We'll
get it to him. Makabee runs into Jahim Thomas. You
tossed him down in the forty one yard line of

(54:38):
Wisconsin on a gain of four.

Speaker 6 (54:40):
Suck it down in six.

Speaker 9 (54:41):
Yeah, you have to like macca be and how he
runs his approach. You're seeing him run very physically.

Speaker 8 (54:47):
He just goes. He sees the hole.

Speaker 9 (54:49):
He puts his foot in the dirt, and that time
a little bit of a hole there was able to
pick up four yards. He's having already six carries for
thirty three yards. He's having a good start to his afternoon.

Speaker 3 (54:59):
The boy lot to checks in for Wisconsin. Where's the nickel?
Maccabee remains the running back. Ben Furtney motions into the
backfield as well. A little play fake, rolling off to
his right his card. He's chase by Lowry throwing the
right side. That's caught by Jamal Edren inside the thirty

(55:21):
of Wisconsin, driven out of ours by the cornerback R. J.

Speaker 6 (55:24):
Delancey.

Speaker 3 (55:26):
Forward progress though gets edred of the twenty six of
Wisconsin first and ten Purdue.

Speaker 9 (55:31):
Yeah, having some success running that zone, stretched to the
run of bootleg off of it, they have the under
route that Card decides to pass on very difficult throw.
Wisconsin's coverage was not bad on that over route. He
put it exactly where he needed to to pick up
the first down.

Speaker 3 (55:46):
Lot to in Austin Brown tag teaming at that position.
Brown now the slack corner from the twenty six of Wisconsin.
First in ten Perdue Hudson. Card tossed left side for
Maccaby and Jake Cheney firsting into the backfield up to
make the tackle at the twenty nine or twenty eight
of Wisconsin. Makaby a little slow to get up, but
appears to be okay.

Speaker 9 (56:07):
Yeah, just a great job by all involved. Jake Chenny
it almost feels like he's got Makaby all right, where
is he going go get him? And he read it
and didn't even think about lett him get started, chopped
him down right out for a two yard loss.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
So if the twenty eight of Wisconsin's second and twelve
for the Boilermakers, these teams for the Badgers is being
able to rise up after a sudden change, We'll see
if this Badgers defense can do that. Three receivers right
one on the left love the running back Card rolling
off to his right, rolling still looking throwing, and it's
caught by Max Claire steps out of bounds twenty five

(56:41):
yard line of the far side, so a gain of
three and it's third down and nine for the boiler Makers.

Speaker 9 (56:46):
You can definitely see what other things for Doe is
really wanting to not just sit back, not let Card
not have him just sit in the pocket. Make sure
you're moving his launch points and a lot of it.
Obviously he's a right handed quarterback, getting him rolling out
to the right, and he's made a couple of ros
nice throws that one to pick up four to set
up this third and eight.

Speaker 3 (57:03):
The corners for Wisconsin RJ. Delancey and Xavier Lucas. Third
and nine for the Boilermakers, is they just break their huddle.
The play clock is at seven, about three minutes gone
second quarter, fourteen to to nothing. Wisconsin play clock at
two a little bit up front, and third and nine
is going to turn into third and fourteen.

Speaker 6 (57:24):
Here's a call offense number.

Speaker 11 (57:26):
Seventy seven, five yard penalty.

Speaker 3 (57:29):
Third down hausin Moosa the left guards the Ballermakers get
with their fourth penalty here in this first half.

Speaker 9 (57:39):
Yeah, I think that was the case because they're right
tackle moved as well. I don't think the center. I
think that one again. You they'll be calling in making
sure the center gets out. I think he just didn't
snap the football.

Speaker 3 (57:49):
So third down and thirteen for the Boilermakers, ball just
outside the twenty nine yard line, Wisconsin territory. Right, you
love the running back, three receivers left, one on the
right card back to throw.

Speaker 6 (57:59):
Badgers bring in.

Speaker 3 (58:00):
Four card looking and looking steps up plush to his
right back pedals for the forty. Lets it fly in complete,
intended for love and a penalty flag down. It looks
like it's gonna go against Wisconsin.

Speaker 11 (58:17):
Ten yard penalty, automatic first down.

Speaker 9 (58:22):
You know how we have coverage sacks, Well, that was
a offensive line coverage hole because they protected and protected
and put a lot of pressure on Wisconsin's defensive backs
and ended up getting caught with a hold, giving Purdue
a first down.

Speaker 3 (58:36):
It's the first penalty against Wisconsin in this game, and
it is a costly one. It's now first and ten
perdue at the nineteen of Wisconsin three and a half
that it's gone by second quarter, fourteen to nothing. The
Badgers mackay and there at running back. Card gets the
stamp one pump looking throws right side, that's caught by
Tibbs far sideline inside the ten yard line.

Speaker 6 (58:57):
Delancey takes him down at the nine of Wisconsin and
it will be goal to go.

Speaker 3 (59:05):
It looks like for Perdue haven't signaled it yet, should
be goal to go and it is first and goal
at the nine.

Speaker 8 (59:13):
Yeap just inside the ten yard line.

Speaker 9 (59:15):
And I can understand that one first down not a
lot of pressure, but this is something Wisconsin has been
wanting to get more of. Solve it against the USC
Purdue way too much time.

Speaker 8 (59:24):
To throw right.

Speaker 3 (59:25):
Well, the lie to the left, Card, We'll give it
to Maccaby up the middle, got through Meal but brought
down by Thomas the linebacker at the six yard line,
gain of three second in goal.

Speaker 9 (59:35):
Yeah, we talked about patients with Wisconsin's tailbacks. That was
maccaby did a really nice job, just a little stretch
play off to the left, put his foot in the dirt.
Cutback Darryl Peterson and Thomas did a good job of
corralling him.

Speaker 8 (59:47):
But that was a good read by Maka to pick
up three or four yards.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
Second in goal Purdue at the six. Possession started at
the Wisconsin forty five after the Badger's turnover Edwin Slott
left Tibbs wide left, Maccabee the running back, real motion
to the left. Card will move to his right a
straight run inside the five and gets thrown down by

(01:00:12):
Jaheen Thomas at about the four of Wisconsin. Not something
car does a ton. He was often running there with
the receivers breaking out to the left. Third and goal
at the three.

Speaker 9 (01:00:25):
Yeah, Purdue actually really well designed to play, had some
bodies out in front. Give to Thomas a lot of
credit for fighting through his block and able to corral
Card to get him down before he is able to
score alt.

Speaker 6 (01:00:37):
The right hash Purdue moving to our left.

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
In the second quarter, it's third and goal at the
three new subs Badgers getting their subs organized and now
Ryan Brown is in there at quarterback.

Speaker 6 (01:00:50):
Four Perdue on third and goal.

Speaker 3 (01:00:53):
Takes the snap option left and the tass that is
bobbled by Maccabee got it back and he gets driven
out of bounds by Hunter Roller at about the two
yard line at best, So the Boilermakers had to turn
to their backup quarterback on third and goal. The play
stop for no gain and the Boilermakers will settle for
a field goal.

Speaker 8 (01:01:13):
Trit That was textbook option defense.

Speaker 9 (01:01:16):
You had Lowry attacked the quarterback Cheney right there on
the tailbag, and then Hunter Woller filling to support.

Speaker 8 (01:01:22):
All of that.

Speaker 9 (01:01:23):
Well, really well, well done on all of their assignments
forcing a field goal on that option.

Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
Spencer Porat, who hit a forty five yarder against Nebraska
last week, first made field goal of the season for Purdue.

Speaker 6 (01:01:36):
This is from twenty one yards away. The snap, the
spot and the.

Speaker 3 (01:01:39):

So that's Wisconsin's two leaders in catches now that are
on the sidelines, at least for the moment.

Speaker 13 (01:04:12):
So that means Vinny Anthony, CJ.

Speaker 12 (01:04:14):
Williams, Trudge Kakahuna are the only receivers on this roster
that have catches.

Speaker 13 (01:04:18):
Quincy Burrows and Tyrrel Henry the next two up in order.

Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
I would say, all right, thank you, Patrick, Ben Freehill
with the kick and its sales to the back of
the end zone for the touch back. Fourteen to three.
Wisconsin were the eight forty one left in the first
half and with a produced sideline on that run. Apparently
Hudson Card may have been shaken up. Ryan Brown came in.
It's a high pitch. A good job by Makaby. Were
just securing the football, giving him a chance to get
three boys.

Speaker 9 (01:04:41):
Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was well the goal
line package and maybe wanted to do that, but we'll
have to monitor that. But yeah, that was It was
so well defended by Wisconsin. You're playing the pitch, hitting
the quarterback and the ball. Macaby ends up hitting off
his chest, bouncing up ball, bouncing a funny way.

Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
That time four perdue the hand off to tallwee Walker
off the left side of the line. Kadron Jenkins, the
linebacker is there to wrap him up at the twenty
nine yard line on a gain of four second and
six for the Badgers.

Speaker 9 (01:05:10):
Just a zone left and the boys just kind of
moving some bodies out, finishing Malman, finishing a guy down
and you want to just keep seeing three four yards
on first down.

Speaker 8 (01:05:20):
That's winning football here for Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
Seven carries thirty five yards for Tawee Walkers so far.
Ketahunaslot right, Tyrell Henry why to the right, getting Anthony
out to the left shot. Gun snapped the lock looking
a lot of time to scan, continues to look throwing
that is caught by Tyrell Henry across the forty yard
line up to the forty one of Wisconsin at a
first down for the Badgers. The linebacker Jenkins on the stop.

Speaker 8 (01:05:44):
Great protection by everybody.

Speaker 9 (01:05:46):
Jack Nelson does a great job of Lock and his
man up all day for Lock to throw.

Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
Catch number one is a badger for Henry. Here's the
handoff on first down a Walker and he is banged
in a turn by Will Helt. Still a good gain
of four yards down for Wisconsin. Last year at Michigan State,
Tyrrell Henry at twenty four catches three were good for touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (01:06:07):
That was his first grab as a Badger, and that.

Speaker 8 (01:06:09):
Was I talked to you a little bit about that backside.

Speaker 9 (01:06:11):
That was a job right there by Riley maumon the
right tackle of just finishing his man and we Walker
did a great job again of pressing that hole, doing
one cut and picking up a quick four.

Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
We have Walker and Jackson Acre in the backfield. Kacka
Junos slot to the rights and the Badger's forty five
yard line where it's second down, and six block checking
off lay clock is a three at two and a
timeout now taken for long go waving over his quarterback.
First Sharks time out here for Wisconsin and it looks

Are, Hey Badger fans, the wiscons Support Association wants you
to know that the Wisconsin Badgers support people farmers all
year long. Check them out at way dot org. Badger's
burning their first time out of a half. Seven of
those six left in. It's fourteen to three. Wisconsin lead

(01:09:00):
Purdue Wisconsin a second and six from its own forty five.

Speaker 6 (01:09:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:09:04):
Really like what we're seeing when Wisconsin is running the football.
Walker has done a really good job of sticking to
the game plan, being physical and getting a positive yardage
on every cars.

Speaker 6 (01:09:17):
Go downstairs to Patrick.

Speaker 12 (01:09:18):
The new's getting worse in the wide receiver room. Tyrol
Henry is now questionable return to this game. He's in
the Miler Sports Medicine ten with a lower body injury
as well.

Speaker 13 (01:09:25):
That's three guys down.

Speaker 3 (01:09:28):
Quincy Burrow sitting there right now, Why do the right
Keckahuna motioning left to right as Locke gets the snap,
takes the hand off, the Walker throws over the middle
and it's batted down by Kendrick Breedlove intended for Tretch
Kekahuna at the forty five of Purdue.

Speaker 6 (01:09:43):
So Breedlove has had a.

Speaker 3 (01:09:45):
Lot of action his way in this first half in
Wisconsin now with a third and six from its own
forty five.

Speaker 8 (01:09:51):
Yeah, he's he's been kind of up to the task
on cover.

Speaker 9 (01:09:54):
I know he got the one penalty getting there a
little bit early, but he's reading that slant route and
Wisconsin's offense line given enough time for Braden to sit
back in the pocket, not a lot of room. And
as these wide oucks keep dropping, guys have to step up.

Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
We receivers right one on the left lock to throw
a little pressure up the middle. Braidon trying to hang
tough throw he picked off by Breedlove, who's taken down
by Kekahuna a midfield second interception of this quarter for
Kendrick Breedlove as Purdue again with great field position off
the sudden change.

Speaker 9 (01:10:27):
Yeah, and that was a ball that was just thrown
behind Tekahunah again all kinds of time. It was actually
Wisconsin's tailback cut out the linebacker.

Speaker 8 (01:10:35):
He was down on the ground.

Speaker 9 (01:10:36):
He was kind of at Braiden Locke's knees, so I
don't think he felt comfortable he threw it behind him. Breedlove,
who has been in position all day against his second
interception of the afternoon.

Speaker 6 (01:10:45):
Breed Love, couple of years at Old Miss was a Colorado.
I think young man's.

Speaker 5 (01:10:50):
Found a hole.

Speaker 8 (01:10:50):
I'm action, huh yeah, a little.

Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
Bit down to home wes Lafayette's. So Purdue takes over
and it's forty nine yard line. Hudson Card is back
in there. That was a goal line package with Bryan
Brown in that last possession. Two receivers right, two on
the left that could be the running back and there

(01:11:13):
his Card will fake the Handleff throws the left backs player,
the tight end catching forty five outside the numbers forty
thirty five yard line and he is cut down by
Hunter Wohler inside the thirty to the twenty nine yard
line of Wisconsin. So a gain of twenty two in
the Boiler Akers right back in business.

Speaker 8 (01:11:30):
Yeah, and their tight end leads their team.

Speaker 9 (01:11:32):
Claire leads the team in reception, so you know he's
going to be a part of this passing offense. And
the boot leg they're putting again, that puts a lot
of pressure. Lill fake pulls it, and that was a
case we did not have contained Nobody was assigned or
whoever was wasn't out there. That gave us a big
pickup on.

Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
First out six eighteen left and the half fourteen to
three Wisconsin first in ten perdue at the Badgers twenty
nine yard line slot left slot rights.

Speaker 6 (01:11:58):
Card gets the stamp.

Speaker 3 (01:11:59):
Badgers sent Card throwing left side deep and it's not
down by Kamoi Latsu with air tight coverage on the
tight end of Max Claire inside the five yard line
of the near side.

Speaker 6 (01:12:11):
Second and ten perdue at the Badger's twenty nine.

Speaker 9 (01:12:14):
Yeah, a little bit of pressure there late Ben Barton
was able to kind of get into Cart's.

Speaker 8 (01:12:18):
Face that ball.

Speaker 9 (01:12:20):
Really nice play there by lot To to almost come
down with an interception. Good route, and I love when
you can get your head turned around and make a
play on the football.

Speaker 8 (01:12:29):
It would have been nice to come down with it.

Speaker 9 (01:12:30):
That would have been a heck of a play, But
you did set up a second attack.

Speaker 3 (01:12:34):
Austin Bround checks in for lat too. They continue to
tag team at Dree Bibber the tight end motion thing
left to right. Three receivers out side of the formation.
Leland Smith wide to the left. Card gets the stamp.
Four man rush one pump under pressure lash left. He'll
pull it down and run and he gets crunched inside
the twenty five yard line of Wisconsin. Leon Lowry makes

(01:12:55):
the tackle. They'll place the right of the twenty five
and a gain of four. Third down at six.

Speaker 9 (01:12:59):
Yet relentless pursuit there because Lowry actually would flushed Card
out of the pocket. He was shoved the right tack
of right into Card's lap, forced him in and then
didn't give up on the play. Continued to chase and
chase and then put a lick on Card there. That's
what if you're gonna avoid and get out of that pocket.
Make the quarterback Thay.

Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Both teams are an zero four on third down so far,
Purdue is zero for five. It's third and six of
the twenty five of Wisconsin. Two receivers tied rights to
come out to the lefts Max Claire slot left, motions right.
Card calls with the ball back to throw four man rush.
Card looking back pedals, drifts to his right, now pulls
it down. He'll throw left side Market be the catch

(01:13:40):
inside the fifteen, inside the ten, inside.

Speaker 6 (01:13:43):
The five and brought down by Brown and Zachman at
the four of Wisconsin. First and goal.

Speaker 9 (01:13:49):
Well, that was their first third down conversion, but we've
seen this way too many times third and long and
all day.

Speaker 8 (01:13:57):
It gives Card credit.

Speaker 9 (01:13:58):
He moved around in the pocket, was able to avoid
the little rush that Wisconsin had, but way too much
time to ask your defensive backfield to hold up in coverage.
Maccaby is able to leak out, sit down in that
coverage and pick up a big chunk play to set
him up here in a first and goal situation.

Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
He show I backs here. Drew Bibber at tight end
lines up as a full back. Maccaby the tailback Card
under center for the four yard line, takes a stand,
gets at the Maccaby runs into one of his own linemen,
then gets stood up and driven back by Jake Cheney.
Nothing doing there, a loss of one and back to
the five where it's second in goal for the Boilermakers.

Speaker 9 (01:14:32):
And Ben Carton did a great job at the point
of attack of shoving the left tackle right back into
Moccaby and that forces him to bounce and it gave
Jake Cheney, who is tell you he is all over today?
Jake Cheney's playing relentless football. Nice job Ben Barton made
that play.

Speaker 3 (01:14:48):
Four minutes left to the half, fourteen to three Wisconsin
to do again, trying to cash in off of a turnover.

Speaker 15 (01:14:55):
No go.

Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
I backs once again, Card under center, River and mockab
be the combination. One second down, Car to play fake
looking to throw a drift to his right under pressure,
chased by Elijah Hills.

Speaker 6 (01:15:09):
His Card will throw it up at the la incomplete
and it's third in goal for Do at the five.

Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:15:14):
I love the effort. There you guy.

Speaker 9 (01:15:16):
Last week, I thought Hills played a really good football game,
and this is a case where it did bring pressure.
I'm gonna let Card just sit in the pocket, and
it's not always easy. Hills did a great job of
just forcing and forcing, not letting Cart get that corner
to become a run pass threat. He forced him out,
dumped the football, and now here we go, third and

(01:15:37):
golf from the five.

Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
From the five yard line of Wisconsin, dam Brown, Leland
Smith out to the left, max players of all edwin
to the rights. I could be the running back shotgun staff.
Card fakes the handoff, spins off to his right, back
pedaling under pressure, throws it up and away in complete.
That's getting heats on Hudson Card at its fourth in

(01:15:58):
goal at the five.

Speaker 9 (01:16:00):
Yeah, and that's the difference when they've been able to
convert the third down that they did. It was all
time trestle this side. We're going to bring heat. We
brought the heat. Ben Barton again got in that backfield.
You force things that looked like they were trying to
leak out their tight end off to the right hand
side for an easy touchdown.

Speaker 8 (01:16:17):
But the pressure got to Card, forcing him to fire.

Speaker 9 (01:16:20):
It out the back of the end zone, setting up
a field goal at ten Big Time stopped there by
Wisconsin Chas.

Speaker 3 (01:16:25):
Twenty three yard try for Spencer Horrath from the left.
Hash marks the staff the spot and the kick is
away and it is good, so he said. For twenty
one and twenty three, New settles for another field goal,
we will take a break. No one gets it closer

for Purdue. It took about three and a half minutes,

(01:18:34):
but Badgers kept the Boilers out of the end zone.
Spencer poor Ath of a twenty three yard field goal.
Now fourteen to six Wisconsin with three twenty seven left
till halftime.

Speaker 8 (01:18:43):
Yeah, and a lot of time.

Speaker 9 (01:18:44):
You know, the complimentary football narrative that we heard all week,
It doesn't mean you don't give up points.

Speaker 8 (01:18:50):
I thought that was the case.

Speaker 9 (01:18:52):
You know, Lock throws a bad interception and Purdue goes down,
makes a couple of big plays. But fourteen to six
is a heck of a lot better than fourteen to ten.
And you saw a twenty one yard field goal, twenty
three yard field goal. Those stops when you can save
eight points already, those are the things that is all
part of that complimentary football narrative that you need to

(01:19:12):
win football games.

Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
Ben free Hill set to kick off and the Anthony K. Jakamelli.
Your deep kick is in the air, and again it
will not be returned. The storyline for Wisconsin now always
trying to dig into that depth charted the wide receiver
physician and.

Speaker 9 (01:19:26):
Mueller Sports ten's been a little too full here in
the first time. So and again, I think you need
to be able to throw the football.

Speaker 8 (01:19:33):
I'm not gonna you have to.

Speaker 9 (01:19:35):
And right now, you know Braden's five or thirteen eighty yards,
He's got the two picks.

Speaker 8 (01:19:40):
This is Taylor made.

Speaker 9 (01:19:41):
He got three minutes, twenty seven seconds left. Let's see
a little Walker time here. I think this is time
lean on those guys up front. We heard Luke ficklesay
all week that this group is the strength of your
football team.

Speaker 8 (01:19:52):
Here's time to see it.

Speaker 6 (01:19:54):
Walker in there right now.

Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
Beckerhundah slot left, pop pass, Kakahuna bending off the rights
eye twenty five, breaks outside the numbers thirty thirty five
to the forty forty five and shoved out of mounds
by Dylan Thieneman near the midfield. Scribes, like you said,
little pop pass to Tretch. It's a good option too.

Speaker 6 (01:20:10):
Huh.

Speaker 8 (01:20:10):
Well, I mean that's that's a completion, but it's a
run and it's a perimeter.

Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
Sophomore of the Carmel, Indiana if you guys from that town.
Badgers had a guy from Carmel, Indiana, Noah Burks became
a really ieer for Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (01:20:28):
Yeah, that just shows you what Tretch can do.

Speaker 9 (01:20:30):
And I know there's you're always as a young player,
you just try to get that coaches trust. We saw
that in the bowl game. I think everybody was really
excited about what he was able to do. You just
find ways players need to build their confidence too. And
when you get that, you get a little pop pass,
you just get the ball out in space. All of
a sudden, everything else starts coming together. And that play,

(01:20:52):
right there was another a good starting point to get
Kakahuna and more involved as more of these wide receivers
are going down.

Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
Yeah, and just to circle back, if you're listening and
you're doing what's a pop pass, It's it's like a
jet motion type of feel where the receiver is in
motionless lines up wide left in this case motion right,
and instead of handing the ball. You do pitch it
to him, so but it's the ground. It's an incomplete pass.
It's like a handoff, only it isn't. So that's what

(01:21:21):
that's what a pop pass.

Speaker 8 (01:21:22):
Quarterbacks like that play.

Speaker 6 (01:21:24):
They do easy completion.

Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
There is looking left, throwing left and it's caught by
Kekahuna again as he slides to the turf at the
forty seven yard line of the far side in Purdue territory.

Speaker 6 (01:21:35):
Gain of seven sega down and three.

Speaker 8 (01:21:38):
Again.

Speaker 9 (01:21:39):
Good little fake got all of Purdue to go to
the right side on that and that just gives you
one on one, which is all you can ask for.

Speaker 8 (01:21:45):
Well delivered there by Lock.

Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Two fifty nine left in the half, fourteen to six.
Wisconsin call Fahuna slot right now, Rkowski slot left now.
Wiley motions lines up wining the right side. Lock will
give it to Tote Walker in a collision with the
linebacker Kaedron Jenkins inside the forty five. Drives it near
the forty four in very close to the lines. Again,

(01:22:07):
I think they're gonna say, yes, sir, first down Wisconsin.
They place it at the forty four of Purdue.

Speaker 9 (01:22:12):
Give that a lignsman. A lot of a lot of
power there. It's very close he died. Just go ahead,
we'll take it. I always get a kick out of that.

Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
Yeah, it works. Block continues to run to twenty left
and a half. There's the two minute timeouts coming up.
Badgers also have two timeouts available. Mahanna slid to the right,
lock boakes the hand off, drops the throw looking little
backside pressure now buys time, winds it up, throwing a

(01:22:41):
deep left side and it's way wide of the mark.
Out of downs intended for Keckahuna Nyland Green on the
coverage with two oh three left in the first half,
incomplete second and ten Wisconsin at the forty four of Purdue.

Speaker 8 (01:22:54):
Yeah. I love the way this group up front is
pass protecting today.

Speaker 9 (01:22:58):
Given lock all kinds of time that was, I always
appreciate the guard. He goes out to help Nelson shoves
his guy onto it, and then comes back for a
little rib shot.

Speaker 8 (01:23:07):
Man, A little rib shot on.

Speaker 9 (01:23:09):
That noseguard to help Rent for a love that physicality you.

Speaker 6 (01:23:12):
Didn't have to demonstrate.

Speaker 3 (01:23:14):
Punch Athena Ribs on second down hand off Toll we
walk her up the middle inside the forty eighteen them
and wraps him up at the thirty five of Purdue
on a gain of nine.

Speaker 6 (01:23:23):
As we hit now that two minute toime out with one.

Speaker 3 (01:23:26):
Fifty eight left in the first half, fourteen to six,
wisconstable keep it here because he got a double dip
opportunity here. The Badgers will get the kick in the
third quarter, trying to create a little damage. You're in
the final two minutes of the first half.

Speaker 9 (01:23:39):
And I know how vital that is, and you know,
talking to Luke this week, that's something that Wisconsin has
not quite been able to do, you know, in the
Alabama game and obviously last week, and that does set
the tone for what you're trying to get done.

Speaker 8 (01:23:52):
And you know there you're.

Speaker 9 (01:23:53):
Sitting at second at ten, you're gonna set up a
third and short here. But just stick with that running game.
And you've seen Kowie Walker has been really good today.
Ten carries fifty one yards averaging five point one to carry.
He's where he is gonna and you just you saw
an example there he got to that second level produced secondary.
How interested are they gonna be? He runs physical and

(01:24:15):
that's you just I just keep always thinking back to
the old days where you're running and that is you
set that tone and it really starts showing up in
the second half.

Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
Yeah, Walker, in the first quarter of the first game,
got banged up, and he's you know, been toughing it through.
Didn't play game two, but he's been grinding it out
and he's looking, as you said, looking really good.

Speaker 9 (01:24:35):
Yeah, you saw some of his physicality and then I
think he give him a ton of credit.

Speaker 8 (01:24:40):
I think he fought and competed to get back out
on the field.

Speaker 9 (01:24:43):
But I really think that bye week helped him because
he looked fresh last week against the USC. I thought
he really ran hard, and I think that's one of
the things you see now he's getting more touches, more opportunities,
and that's gonna really really be good for him.

Speaker 8 (01:24:58):
And how he runs.

Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
Yeah, twelve carries fifty five yards last week against the
Trojans and then a couple of touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (01:25:05):
At Vanzy.

Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
Wisconsin Department of Transportation reminds you to always drive sobers
zero in Wisconsin. Together, we can save lives. We're more
than zero in Wisconsin. Dot g one minute fifty eight
seconds left to the first half. Wisconsin fourteen produced six Builermakers,
getting field goals off of back to back interceptions. One
was bad luck ray Lock pass that went off the

(01:25:28):
hands and eventually off the back of Will Pauling. This
second was a bad throw. Kendrick breedlove with both interceptions
for the border Bakers.

Speaker 9 (01:25:36):
But what I like about that, and yeah, the second
throw is just you know, there was a little bit
of chunk down at his feets players down there.

Speaker 8 (01:25:43):
And you know he threw it behind a bad play.
That happens, but you're seeing he's come back out.

Speaker 9 (01:25:49):
He's got that the first play a little pop pass,
which nice little confidence builder, but he's back.

Speaker 8 (01:25:55):
You just you love the moxie at Braid. Locke is
showing her.

Speaker 6 (01:26:01):
CJ.

Speaker 3 (01:26:01):
Williams will come out wide to the rights. We got
Vinnie Anthony Tucker, Ashcraft and Riley Noakowski out to the left.
That's the short side of the field. Tile we Walker
Jin's the running back. As we get set to resume
play one fifty eight left till halftime, fourteen to six,
Wisconsin leading the Purdue Boilermakers. So here we go, Ashcraft

(01:26:29):
wing lefts Nowakowski wing rights. Walker will shift to the
left of Walk and now we'll take and give it
to Walker off the right side. And he gets set
down by Coraid Brevard at the thirty one yard line
of Purdue, and that'll be a first down four Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (01:26:44):
That good job by Wisconsin's offensive. Brunner pulled out and
kicked his guy, and an Ashcraft came in to kind
of clean up anything that was loose. And a lot
of talk this week about third and short, fourth and short.
No talk when you pick it up.

Speaker 3 (01:26:57):
One clock running left in the hand, yeah, first and
ten from the thirty one yard line of Perdue. Anthony
slot right, Williams wide right lock is the snap. He'll
hand at the Walker and again hits it off the
right side the inside the thirty yard line. Fights for
a couple of more yards. We've gone. Carloftis slowing it
down Walker into the twenty eight at Purdue on a
gain of four clock running one twenty two left in

(01:27:19):
the half second and six.

Speaker 9 (01:27:20):
Hey, you have plenty of time to do it. You want,
you have two timeouts? You pulled Brunner again. That was
I love that run because that was blocked for maybe
a yard. But Walker kept his hand down and was
able to kind of escort to pick up two.

Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
More one oh eight clock running left in the half
of the crew twenty eight yard line. Second down, hand
off Walker again over the left side inside the twenty
five yard line down to the twenty two car loftis
on the stop. Looks like just a little short of
the first down, so here we go a third and short.
Darry and Dupree checking into the backfield for Wisconsin. Clock
rolling fifty seconds left to the brick Andrew sub Perdue

(01:27:54):
could do the same down to forty five seconds. Third
down and one Wisconsin at the Purdue twenty two yard line.
Forty seconds left in the half. Rocket's the signal, so
judge steps away. Thirty five seconds left in the half.
The pre behind locked and the produde twenty two yard line.
Third down and one. Lock takes hand off through pre
and gets the first down of the twenty yard line

(01:28:15):
of the boiler Makers that don't stop the clock to
move the sticks.

Speaker 6 (01:28:18):
Twenty six seconds left in the first half.

Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
Furstay ten again. The Badgers have the two timeouts available.
Trip to the red zone brought to you by caseih
was at caseids dot com. Slash Badger's clock has started
to run there and now a timeout is taken. They
only stopped the clock to move the sticks, and then
the clock started to run again, and precious seconds were
ticking away, and nineteen seconds left and the half Badgers

(01:28:48):
use their second timeout.

Speaker 9 (01:28:49):
Yeah, and I'm all for running the clock down, but
you pick up that. You run it a nice job
again of covering guys up front. You're not letting that penetration.
You pick it up, and then I just thought, time
out seconds The clock says, start you sub. Well, you know,
like we talked about last week about Purdue, I'm gonna
take my sweet time coming in because you have to
allot for the other team to sub. And it just

(01:29:11):
ran off what seven seconds there for no reason. So well,
the crowd was murmuring. You can kind of hear it.
Twenty six seconds with a time out. You feel all right,
now you're down. You've wasted seven seconds there from Wisconsin standpoint.

Speaker 3 (01:29:25):
So here we go, nineteen seconds left in the half,
fourteen to six Wisconsin first and ten for the Badgers
at the Purdue twenty Anthony kay Cohuna and Ashcraft.

Speaker 6 (01:29:35):
To the left. CJ.

Speaker 3 (01:29:36):
Williams to the right, walk of the running back pistol formation.
Lock gets the staff. But you're trying to bring a
little heat shuffling left is locked throwing left side wide open.
Williams makes the catch and he falls to the turf
of the one yard line, first and goal Wisconsin, with
twelve seconds left of the half. Lock stops, so all
they're ready for play. Gotta be ready a time out

(01:29:57):
to burn. Clock is running down to ten seconds. Here's
the handoff to Walker, touchdown Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (01:30:04):
It worked perfectly nine seconds left of the half.

Speaker 8 (01:30:07):
Great clock management there. Everything worked out exactly how you wanted.
Really nice job on the play before.

Speaker 9 (01:30:13):
Walker did just enough, but Braydon Locke did a great
job of avoiding that rush to throw to CJ. Williams
and then get up on the ball. You still have
that time out with twelve seconds hammer it in. Walker
finishes the drive off. Great execution by Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (01:30:30):
Twenty to six. Wisconsin. Nathaniel Vako's on for the pat.
There's the Lions are down and the kick is in
the air and the kick is good. The Ford scoring
drive eleventh place, seventy five yards took three minutes and
eighteen seconds. Todd Wie Walker in for the second time

(01:30:54):
in this first half. Nine seconds left to the break.
Wisconsin twenty one produce six.

Speaker 9 (01:31:00):
Really, you know you want to you want to finish
your obviously drive off at the half.

Speaker 8 (01:31:05):
You want to leave little time.

Speaker 9 (01:31:06):
I think if you look at the mechanics of that,
I'm sure Wisconsin will say, well, there's some things we
could do better to manage that clock.

Speaker 8 (01:31:12):
But what you love is you finish that drive off.

Speaker 9 (01:31:15):
And I really think that throw by Bradon Locke it
should have been an easy touchdown, but the pressure got
where he had to shuffle off and he wanted to
make sure to get it out there so that CJ.
Williams can make a play. Obviously, Then you get up there,
you run it quick. You still have the timeout, so
you have the option to run it. Guys upfront did
another nice job of hammer and then threw move and

(01:31:36):
produced guys into the end zone. So you still have
a timeout that you didn't even need, and you only
left nine seconds for Purdue.

Speaker 3 (01:31:43):
Here at the end of the half, Davin Lom said,
the kick off runs up and the kick is away,
a chance for Elijah Jackson right side at the two,
across the five to ten fifteen yard line and he
will be driven down shy All twenty this Brooks, they're
in kick coverage. Well, the Badgers three seconds left in

(01:32:05):
the first half.

Speaker 9 (01:32:07):
Well, I think when you look at this all in
all and you know, two turnovers, it has not been
the you know, super clean by any stretch. But what
you love about what Wisconsin has been able to do.
They've taken advantage of the opportunities that Purdue has given.
And the red zone defense has been the key here
in the first half. When Wisconsin has turned it over,
they've limited the damage by what Purdue was able to do.

Speaker 6 (01:32:30):
Yeah, let's see card.

Speaker 3 (01:32:32):
We'll just drop to a knee as we hit halftime
at Camp Randalls Stadium. Yeah, as Kyle said, limiting the
Boilermakers to just the field goals after the turnovers and
the bad Who's put twenty.

Once again with you at halftime American Family Insurance Halftime
before continues on My Keller. Billy Schmid, host of the
postgame show along with Lance Allen, joins me at the
half as he always does. Philly Wisconsin taking advantage of
a predue mistake on back to back fumbled punts, the
second one Wisconsin recovered turns it into a touchdown and
then a big hit to Vinnie Anthony.

Speaker 10 (01:43:50):
So Wisconsin haigging advantage early.

Speaker 41 (01:43:52):
Yeah, and Mike, I also think that being able to
take advantage early and then rise to the occasion biggest
story of the first half. Defense stepping up in goal
to go situations, keeping this thing at fourteen to six,
and then being able to score the final touchdown of
the half right there with the final couple of seconds.
I also think, Mike, when wanting to get everything out

(01:44:12):
of a sixty minute game, we talked about a chicken
soup game. Make everyone feel good after today's outcome. You
can feel good as the coaching staff. Things got rolling.
Hit some adversity there, back to back turnovers, giving the
ball right around midfield on the plus side to produce
a couple of times good learning experience on both sides
in a really successful first half so far.

Speaker 29 (01:44:32):
One of the storylines this year for Wisconsin's defense, and
I'll get to in a moment, is lack of pressure.

Speaker 10 (01:44:38):
But you brought up the stops.

Speaker 29 (01:44:40):
After back to back turnovers, Wisconsin gives the ball away
Will Pauling mishandled to throw ball sad ends up being
an interception. Paulin got hurt on the play hasn't returned
to the field since, also the next interception. But Wisconsin,
as you mentioned, gold to go twice and they stepping up,
and in part they did it by bringing pressure packages

(01:45:01):
because in their base Rush Cart is standing back there
all day.

Speaker 41 (01:45:04):
Yeah, and Mike, I also think what you've been able
to see is the lateral speed of the Badgers defense
in those goal to goal situations. That was something they
stressed in the offseason trying to get better at Sebastian Cheeks.
You see at least a little bit John High as
a company, But that play don't make no mistake by
some of their cornerstones Jake Cheney and Hunter Walder right
there on the goal line of the speed option. You

(01:45:25):
gotta be able to get big plays from your best players,
and that's where you're gonna be able to make those
plays there. And we're gonna see who their best and
biggest players are now on the offense because some of
the household names are gonna be out here for the
second half, most like so we Walker.

Speaker 29 (01:45:38):
And Darien Dupree getting the workload at running back. Tess
mlucy stepped away from the program earlier this week.

Speaker 10 (01:45:44):
They're two different running backs.

Speaker 29 (01:45:46):
Dupre is a home run threat and Walker is gonna
get you the yards blocked plus three or four more.

Speaker 41 (01:45:51):
Yeah, there's a lot of people that are seeing the
three and thinking you add like six inches on there.
You could put a two and it'd be John Clay
for Tywie Walker physical all get out. He's leaning onto
his blocks, Mike right, he's generating holes as well. But
I think there's a lot of people at Camp Randall
and a lot of people watching listening that want to
see Darian Dupree. There's an explosive factor to him. Talked

(01:46:14):
about it in the pregame. I know you did as
well with Matt. There's an element to him in the
past game that I think they want to be able
to unearth. You ease in a young man like that.
This is his fifth college game, but you're seeing why
he was as regarded as he is.

Speaker 10 (01:46:27):
Billy.

Speaker 29 (01:46:27):
It worked out, Wisconsin got in the end zone, but
it was a little nervy on clock management on the
final drive of the first half.

Speaker 41 (01:46:33):
Yeah, and I mean Mike, we're so far away. I
don't exactly know. I don't know who Phil Longa was
yelling at. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving
end of it when it looked like at twenty five
seconds clock starts winding down. But again, and this is
bailout from some young receivers, Vinnie Anthony makes a massive
play on the whole shot RPO against the cover two

(01:46:54):
beautiful step in the ground and go take the grass
and CJ. Williams coming up big with a play right
there at the goal line.

Speaker 29 (01:47:00):
Yeah, and that ball I mean not to walk in
touchdown and Braydon Lock missed him a little bit. Williams
had to do something special to make the catch and
then they roll it in. What do you want to
see here in the second half when we get underway.

Speaker 41 (01:47:10):
I think you want to see the Badgers establish the
ground game. I think right now Purdue is gettable in
that spot. The Badger has been able to move it
through the air, but again keep consistently stuffing on the
defensive side. The only way that they've gotten points generated
anything is on a short field. I don't see the
boiler Makers being able to drive on this Badger defense.

Speaker 42 (01:47:30):
Keep that going.

Speaker 29 (01:47:31):
Billy Schmid will walk it through the post game alongside

Speaker 8 (01:51:50):
Yeah, but it feels different.

Speaker 9 (01:51:51):
I know that time of possession stat It feels different
than last week, and I think part of it is
because Wisconsin's finding a way to get off the field
on third down.

Speaker 8 (01:52:01):
Last week obviously that was not the case.

Speaker 9 (01:52:03):
So I think defensively in what these guys have been
able to do, stopping Purdue in the red zone when
they've turned the football over, that has been the key
to this game, because if you look at yards and
everything else, that's one thirty five to two hundred time
of possession. Purdue is hanging in there, but Wisconsin has
taken advantage of the opportunities they've been given.

Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
I mentioned those injuries to the Badgers receiving cores. Let's
get an update as we send it downstairs to Patrick.

Speaker 12 (01:52:27):
So there are three of them in the wide receiver room.
The first one, Will Pauling will return. That's the good news.
He's back from his lower leg injury. Bryson Green has
been downgraded to doubtful, but they haven't ruled him out
just yet. Tyrrel Henry, the wide receiver and return man,
is out for the rest of the game. Again, all
three of them with lower leg injuries. But the headline
here is that Will Pauling will play in the second half.

Speaker 3 (01:53:13):
Well, the touch back second half underway first and tend
with the Badgers at their twenty five yard line.

Speaker 9 (01:53:18):
And that's not marine layer because I know last week
we really had a battle with the mountains and the
marine layer and so we you know, talk a lot
about that finish in the first half that you know,
eight minutes of four minute whatever you want to look
at it.

Speaker 8 (01:53:30):
And here you get this opportunity.

Speaker 9 (01:53:32):
This is something Wisconsin has not been great at, is
going out here and really extending here. Because now you're
up fifteen. You can really kind of throw an early
dagger here if you can put put together a long
sustained drive.

Speaker 3 (01:53:45):
So we walked the running back Kicklahooda in motion. Here's
the handoff to walker got met by Will Heltz back
in there. He was shaken up in the first half,
le sue, I might be thanking. Yeah, it was Will
Helton there, Joe Anderson as well, but it was help
leading the charge gain of one for the twenty sixth
of Wisconsin's second and nine.

Speaker 9 (01:54:02):
Yeah, he just didn't take the bait that was he
was supposed to be either. The motion man was coming over,
he's supposed to go with him, and Wisconsin's done a
good job on the backside that time. Health did a
good job of reading it getting down the line making
a play.

Speaker 6 (01:54:13):
Three receivers left, CJ.

Speaker 3 (01:54:15):
Williams to the right, Lock picks the hand off the
walker back to throw, time to scan, l clips him
up and away.

Speaker 6 (01:54:21):
As soon as I said.

Speaker 3 (01:54:22):
Time to scan, he got some pressure and a penalty
marker is down finding on the produe side of the
line of scrimmage.

Speaker 9 (01:54:32):
Jego Breedlove got a little aggressive, But you think that
outrut was cut short because of the aggressiveness of Breedlove
At least I hope here's.

Speaker 11 (01:54:42):
A call there if fouls by each team that will
offset intentional grounding offense number eighteen holding defense replay second down.

Speaker 3 (01:54:53):
Yeah, he did not get outside the pocket there, braiding
Lock and it's nowhere near a Badger, So we'll replay
second and nine, opening minute, third quarter, twenty one six
Wisconsin leading Perdue's.

Speaker 8 (01:55:09):
That plane never existed.

Speaker 3 (01:55:10):
It did not happen, Okay, Viney Anthony wide left, Williams
and Kakahunda to the right hand off Walker off the
left side across the thirty eyed line rolled down by
Yanni carloftis here. The thirty one of Wisconsin brings up
third and four.

Speaker 9 (01:55:27):
Yeah, pulled, humor, pulled mom and kick out little log
block up and the until we walk her today, Gray
job keeping his feet.

Speaker 8 (01:55:34):
Churn and churn and churn and setting up this third
and four.

Speaker 3 (01:55:37):
Yeah, we'll see if they can convert to a six
with the Badgers in the first half of play. Three
receivers right, one on the left, Kakahuda, Ashcraft and Williams
out of the right side. Vinnie Anthony is to the left.
Nyland Green creeping up on little press coverage there back
to throw lock boor Man rushed over the middle, pass
caught by Sea Jay Williams in the first down up

(01:55:58):
here the forty yard line. Well Trussallesandro on the tackle
first and ten for the Badgers at their thirty nine
yard line.

Speaker 9 (01:56:06):
Yeah, what I like there is the the you know
fake You heard the claps up here, and that kind
of had produced tip what they were going to do.
And I'm not sure what the adjustment was that Wisconsin made,
but they ran the little slant across the middle. C. J.
Williams beat his man, Lock put it right where he
needed to on.

Speaker 3 (01:56:22):
First and ten Lock will hand it to Walker, got
hit behind the line of scrimmage. Penalty marker flies Walker
taken down behind the line of scrimmage. Dylan Thieneman crashing
in there for a loss of one. But we'll check
out the penalty. Here's the call again from Chris Koite.

Speaker 11 (01:56:37):
Personal foul, illegal block below the waist offense number seventy nine,
fifteen yard penalty, still first down.

Speaker 6 (01:56:44):
It's Jack Nelson the left tackle.

Speaker 9 (01:56:49):
And you can cut inside the tackle box. And I know,
talking to Luke this week, that's something you know. Unfortunately
got Aaron Witt last week, one of the offensive players.
That's something that we're getting and just looking at the replay,
it's always a tricky line. You want to get guys
cut on the back side, but you can't have anyone
engaged with you or if the ref season, you're gonna

(01:57:10):
get fifteen years.

Speaker 3 (01:57:11):
So it's first down and long is Lock rolling off
to his right, throwing to his right, caught by Kekahunah,
who scoots out a bound at the thirty one yard
line in Wisconsin territory. You still need eighteen for the
first down here a little more than two minutes gone
in the second half, twenty one six Wisconsin with his
second down and eighteen for the Badgers.

Speaker 8 (01:57:32):
That's a design sprint out there.

Speaker 9 (01:57:34):
You saw right tackle Riley Wallman come hard out to
the right side and invite his defensive end to come
inside than he seals.

Speaker 8 (01:57:42):
Gave Locke a little room to pick up. Throw that
ball to Kakahuna.

Speaker 6 (01:57:45):
Two receivers left, two receivers right.

Speaker 3 (01:57:47):
Kakahuna's lot rights jogs in motion to the left, snap
back to Lock. Three man rush Braydon looking still looking
looking to his left lines it up fires with the
battle pulled down.

Speaker 6 (01:57:56):
Kakahuna forty five to fifty guys to the forty thirty
five hunting right thirty trench to the twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:58:02):
Ten five touchdown Wisconsin Truch Kakahuna to the house and
it's twenty seven to six Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (01:58:13):
Great route, nice throw, but that was all by the
offensive line for Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (01:58:19):
Lockhead all day.

Speaker 9 (01:58:20):
He was able to reset his feet two or three
different times, and you gave Kakahuda enough space across the middle.
And then as we saw with Vinnie Anthony early, just
that speed was able to elude all of the rest
of produced defensive backs.

Speaker 8 (01:58:34):
And another big play through the passing game.

Speaker 3 (01:58:36):
Well tret showing off some of that speed as well
as the Badgers get some more big play productivity. Nathaniel
Vakos for the pat and it is good. So the
Badgers in that middle eight portion we talk about pretty
good middle Ageah sure, really good. We will take a
break here at Camp randall horsepower to him. Buy your willpower,

Oh Chunk Gaming Madison is your hometown big win. Make
your next night out on winning one at oh Chunk
Gaming Madison. Sixty nine yards great lock at tretch Kekahuna
twelve fourteen left to the third quarter Wisconcert twenty eight
Perdue six.

Speaker 8 (02:01:24):
Yeah, there was just so much good about that play.

Speaker 9 (02:01:27):
And it started, you know, Purdue only rush three dropped
you know eight, but the old line gave all kinds
of time reset, reset, But then Tretch did a great
job of adjusting. It was an out route, Purdue covered it.
His second reaction was great. But then the throw they
dropped their outside linebacker and you had to throw it
over him into that opening. And then what I loved

(02:01:48):
most obviously the speed of Kakahuna and everything else we
do guys finishing on the perimeter in the blocking because
that would have been a thirty yard game.

Speaker 8 (02:01:56):
What you saw CJ.

Speaker 9 (02:01:57):
Williams rock his guy no Akowski did a great job
a sprinting down and that's how you turn a big
play into a home run.

Speaker 3 (02:02:04):
There's Gavin lomb kicking off and steers into the far
boundary and it did not get to the end zone.
It went out of bound. So that'll cost Wisconsin ten yards.
The Boilermakers begin at their thirty five yard line.

Speaker 9 (02:02:17):
Yeah, it's I really think the offensive line from a
pass protection standpoint, they've done a good job of running
the football as well, but really have taken a hold
of this game and given Brayden Locke as much time
as he's needed. And when you've talked about a couple
of wide receivers going down, maybe not everything is quite
as fluid as normal. You need to give your quarterback
a little bit more time and they have done that

(02:02:39):
today and that's why we've seen a couple of these
big home run plays.

Speaker 3 (02:02:44):
Well, here's Hudson card and the Purdue offense staring at
a twenty two point deficit here early in the third quarter,
Sam Edren the three receivers to the left and is
we were having trouble getting organized there offensively, and Purdue

(02:03:06):
has to burn a time out, first charge time out
of the half.

Speaker 6 (02:03:09):
For the Boilermakers. Twelve fourteen left in the third quarter.

Speaker 3 (02:03:13):
And with that, let's pause ten seconds for station identification,
ten for an ID.

Speaker 6 (02:03:17):
This is badger football from lear Field again, Purdue with.

Speaker 3 (02:03:21):
A new coordinator, Jason Simmons offensive coordinator. I don't know
if that was specifically what was there, but when.

Speaker 6 (02:03:28):
You come back off of a kickoffe you need a
time out and you're eh, not good.

Speaker 9 (02:03:33):
That's never a great sign from a coaching stamp point
because your stuff happens, but you have to have that
stuff kind of dialed in ready to go. Usually you'll
do a little huddle on the sideline before you go out.

Speaker 8 (02:03:43):
But a good good thing for Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (02:03:45):
All right, Well, I have two receivers left, two receivers right,
Edwin slot on the right side, the Hudson card and
the Purdue offense card gets the stamp looking to throw
over the middle, caught by Edrid across the forty yard
line and gets popped to the turf by Nasier for
Kurreena at the forty six in a gain of eleven
first and ten perdue.

Speaker 9 (02:04:03):
Yeah, and this is what you have to not allow
yourself to get complacent.

Speaker 8 (02:04:08):
You pull ahead, you do. You know, the offense does
its job. Now it's time for the defense to kind.

Speaker 9 (02:04:12):
Of shut the shut the door completely, give it up
a big playof first out.

Speaker 3 (02:04:17):
Well, then Makabee is the running back. The receivers rights
one on the left. Card takes the hand off. He's
now gonna throw a left side that is caught by
Tims inside the forty five of Wisconsin. Preston Sackman will
take him out of bounds of the forty of the Badgers.
But a pedalty coming up and lookside, this play is
coming back an eligible man downfield. That was that little

(02:04:40):
triple option there, Hudson Card showing it to the running back,
pulling it and giving the impression he's gonna run.

Speaker 6 (02:04:47):
That's gonna be tough for a lining market.

Speaker 8 (02:04:49):
Really is.

Speaker 9 (02:04:50):
It's impossible because you're blocking and you're moving guys, and
you have to get up to the second level. And
it was a well executed played by Purdue, except for
make their right tackle finish too far down the field.
And I actually appreciate his acting skills. He tried to
veer back to get behind the line of scrimmage. The
raft caught him and he was trying to show no, no, no,
it wasn't but he was outfielder League.

Speaker 6 (02:05:11):
A for efforts.

Speaker 38 (02:05:13):
Well.

Speaker 3 (02:05:13):
The forty yard line of Perdue first down in fifteen slot,
left slot, right smackab the running back Card looking to throw.

Speaker 4 (02:05:20):
Here's Jehime Thomas' backside knocked the ball out.

Speaker 6 (02:05:23):
He gets the sack, Purdue keeps it.

Speaker 3 (02:05:26):
Oh Jeheeve Thomas coming in clean to the quarterback and
they'll mark it at the thirty four yard line of Purdue.

Speaker 6 (02:05:34):
It's now second down. And twenty one.

Speaker 9 (02:05:36):
Yeah, that was I think Leon Lowry rocked inside and
Thomas just shot from the backside from the linebacker spot
and there was nobody to pick him up. He looped
right through a clean shot on the quarterback Perdue. Very
fortunate that that wasn't a strack.

Speaker 3 (02:05:53):
Yeah, that was that was out, but Card was able
to gather it immediately. Three o'clock is at five. I've
got second down and long. Card fakes the hand off
the maccabie, drifting to his right. Under more pressure, he'll
pull it down and run thirty five slanding left of
the forty forty five and forced out of bounds by
John Pius. They'll mark at the forty seven in Purdue

(02:06:15):
territory where it's now third down and eight.

Speaker 9 (02:06:17):
Yeah, good job there, of just kind of forcing Card
never got comfortable in the pocket. We've seen a few
times he has. This time he's running. Everybody's chasing, forcing
him to kind of not be able to keep his
eyes down the field, turn into a runner, setting up
a third nine here to try to get off the field.

Speaker 3 (02:06:33):
Fordue one of seven on third down here today to
receivers right went on the left, Card back to throw
Badger's sending four card with some time now running out
of time, spins off to his right and gets outside
of Cheney, buys some more time card back pedals, chased
again by Cheney, moves up, throws it away incomplete. That

(02:06:56):
place started yesterday.

Speaker 1 (02:06:57):
I just hit it.

Speaker 8 (02:06:58):
Are you exhausted right? Explain what the heck just happened there?
But everybody's tapping their head.

Speaker 9 (02:07:03):
Wisconsin, it's a fourth out, great job getting off the field,
gift card credit. He continued to avoid and he got
outside of the pocket. Then he got back inside, kept
his eyes down the field. But great coverage by Wisconsin
forcing this punt. But that was a long drawn out
play that Wisconsin just kept hanging in there.

Speaker 8 (02:07:22):
Getting off the field.

Speaker 6 (02:07:23):
Vinnie Anthony take Kadie's gas. Yeah, that took a while.

Speaker 3 (02:07:28):
Vinnie Anthony deep of the ten yard line line of scrimmage,
the Burdue forty five five.

Speaker 6 (02:07:32):
It happened.

Speaker 3 (02:07:32):
It's gone third quarters credit and that may have been tips.
It hits inside the twenty of Wisconsin. This is going
to work for Purdue. Inside the ten, inside the five
breed level. Down it inside the five yard line. There
was a badger who got a hand on it, but
it worked out well for the boiler Makers. The tune
of a fifty one yard punch.

Speaker 8 (02:07:54):
Yeah low snapping on RNTT got in there and got
a hand on it, but help turned out great for Purdue, though.

Speaker 6 (02:08:02):
We'll go ahead and take a break. Coach.

Sheeta Scilla, sixty years senior transfer from Boston College. On
the tackle of the Boilermakers and the balls at the
eight yard line of Wisconsin.

Speaker 6 (02:11:07):
It's third down and four.

Speaker 9 (02:11:09):
Yeah, I'm noticing purduing this half is really they're dedicating
more people down and especially on the backside. Wisconsin hurt
them with some of their backside run, you know, cutting
the football back, so they're bringing that in. That leaves
you the bootlegs. That gets your quarterback outside the pocket.
You're selling out a lot more to stop that run.
That does open up some things on the perimeter.

Speaker 6 (02:11:30):
In the past game, Derry and Dupree in the backfield.
He wanted he can catch it.

Speaker 3 (02:11:33):
The snap back the lock pressure brow he caught by
Williams gets the first down. Theeneman on the tackle of
the fourteen yard line and a Boilermaker is slow to
get up. Jeffrey Imba is still down in the end zone.
They were trying to.

Speaker 6 (02:11:48):
Heat up Braiden lock. Braiden got rid of it just
in time.

Speaker 3 (02:11:54):
Will Help came crashing down on him and then Imba.
I had the third man in there and a bit awkwardly.

Speaker 9 (02:12:01):
Yeah, I think that ball got snapped early, and actually
I believe that's Kevin Heywood out there at left tackle.

Speaker 6 (02:12:09):
You are correct sir, Yeah, the ball.

Speaker 9 (02:12:10):
Got snapped early. I don't know if Jack is coming back.
I think I don't know if a shoe or something.
But hey, what's out there? I think the ball got
snap You saw Braydon put his hands up quick. I
think it got snapped early and he took a shot.

Speaker 6 (02:12:23):
Yeah, we will take a break.

Speaker 8 (02:14:38):
Yeah, I can't tell you that was a violent hit.
Bet Braydon Locke took it again.

Speaker 9 (02:14:43):
I think it was maybe an early snap or hey,
what who was in at left tackle? He's still in,
by the way, he took a shot and to stand
in there and deliver it and pick up that first down.
That was a big time play and I hope I
know we are looking at Produce. Braydon took a really
good shot on that stood in the pocket, but delivered

the throw and picked up that first out.

Speaker 13 (02:15:14):
Do you have No, definitely not. In fact, he was
in the huddle there. I turned that time out. I
have to find out what more is going on.

Speaker 3 (02:15:23):
First down, the handoff Gary in Dupree over the left
side of the line across the fifteen yard line, drives
his way up to the seventeen He all hole there,
so he just slammed himself into the pile and got
four yards out of it.

Speaker 6 (02:15:35):
Second and six.

Speaker 8 (02:15:36):
It could just be you're trying to get some experience.

Speaker 9 (02:15:38):
I listen there very high on a lot of young
offensive linemen, and hey, what is right there in that mix?
And you're up twenty two points getting some good work in.
You got dupre in the backfield, Start working some of
that young talent.

Speaker 3 (02:15:53):
There's no injury to Jack. As the stamp goes to
Lock shuffles off to his right, winds it up, lets
it rip. That's caught by CJ. Williams across the porty
hop to the forty five yard line. Lock the CJ.
Williams First down Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (02:16:07):
That great job again up front and really loved Brayton
Locke's awareness to kind of avoid the rush while he's
keeping his eyes down the field.

Speaker 8 (02:16:15):
His footwork was really good there, found that big hawk.

Speaker 3 (02:16:17):
There's the handoff Darian Dupree and he is spilled behind
the line of scrimmage. Dylan Peneman safety.

Speaker 6 (02:16:24):
Up to make the tackle, a loss of three back
to the Wisconsin forty two yard line. Second and thirteen.

Speaker 8 (02:16:29):
Forgot how quick this tempo is. I got to make
sure I get my butt move in too.

Speaker 9 (02:16:33):
Then that's something rare today that we've saw a lost
yardage run.

Speaker 8 (02:16:37):
Dupree was, you know, got three yard loss there.

Speaker 9 (02:16:40):
We've seen a lot of really good domination up front,
and that's one of the big signs of that is
non lost yards plays.

Speaker 8 (02:16:46):
That might be the first or second.

Speaker 38 (02:16:48):
Of the day.

Speaker 3 (02:16:48):
Six twenty five left, third quarter, twenty eight to six Wisconsin.
Three receivers left CJ. Williams out to the rights to
three to the left of the quarterback. Get in the
penalty markers fly pre staff movement for.

Speaker 8 (02:17:00):
Penalty second down.

Speaker 6 (02:17:03):
I think they were.

Speaker 8 (02:17:04):
They got that sail bag.

Speaker 6 (02:17:05):
Yeah, they got Darien Duprie there.

Speaker 3 (02:17:06):
So it's now second down at eighteen for the Badgers
at their thirty seven yard line.

Speaker 8 (02:17:11):
There's nothing.

Speaker 9 (02:17:12):
Those d linemen know like more than pointing out people
flinching and moving.

Speaker 6 (02:17:16):
Hey love it.

Speaker 8 (02:17:16):
Oh yeah, the right defensive tackle he's showing. I thought
it was on runner and ended up getting Dupree.

Speaker 6 (02:17:21):
It's always those defensive guys stirring it up right. Oh yeah, huh.

Speaker 8 (02:17:25):
There's always stuck with those guys.

Speaker 3 (02:17:27):
Three receivers left, two on the right. Let's coming, Lock quick,
bro that's caught by Dupree at the forty yard line.
Almost spun free. He goes down at the forty two.
He very nearly was able to spin out of there. Instead,
it's a third down to thirteen for the Badgers at
their forty two yard line.

Speaker 8 (02:17:46):
Yeah, I love the awareness there by Lock. Purdue came
all out.

Speaker 9 (02:17:49):
They brought everybody and got rid of it, and he
almost split the defenders and the ball he's dribbling it,
almost ball it up on the turf.

Speaker 8 (02:17:57):
Was unable to break through that ankle tackle. If he did,
he saw we walk.

Speaker 6 (02:18:01):
Her in at running back.

Speaker 7 (02:18:02):
Now.

Speaker 6 (02:18:02):
Three receivers left CJ.

Speaker 3 (02:18:04):
Williams out to the right, third and thirteen for the
Badgers their own forty two yard line. Rock surveys the
Boilermakers defense he gets the snapper Jake Renfrow, and just
as that happens, a timeout is taken by Purdue. Second
charts timeout for the Boilermakers. Already five minutes and fourteen

(02:18:26):
seconds left in the third quarter, twenty eight to six,
Wisconsin leading the Boilermakers.

Speaker 6 (02:18:33):
We'll go ahead.

Speaker 3 (02:18:34):
It looks like I can take a full time out.
We will, so we will step away. Twenty eight to six,
Wisconsin back in a moment.

Speaker 6 (02:18:40):
This is Badger football from their field.

Five minutes, fourteen seconds left to the third quarter Wisconsin
twenty eight produce six Boilermakers burning their second time out.

(02:20:38):
The Badgers of a third and thirteen of their own
forty two yard.

Speaker 9 (02:20:41):
Love yea, and you love to see that when you
have a big lead and your opponent is kind of
burn it through a timeout set, and especially in this
situation thirteen Obviously they didn't feel comfortable with something, and
right at the end of that play clock they decide
to use their second timeout.

Speaker 3 (02:20:57):
Darian Dupree, the running back three received, is left one
on the rights, Lock gets the stamp. Purdue bringing four
break looks, throws left seam and the catches man by
Terry in Dupre rolls to the turf near the forty
yard line of Perdue. Good ball, good catch. As the
Badgers converted on third and thirteen down to the Bollermakers forty.

Speaker 8 (02:21:19):
That was impressive.

Speaker 9 (02:21:20):
He started out in the back to a little angle route,
beautiful throw, quickly.

Speaker 3 (02:21:23):
Back on the ball, Lock lines it up flagged down
deep shot left side.

Speaker 6 (02:21:27):
It is incomplete.

Speaker 3 (02:21:29):
A flag down there as well, pass intended for Quincy Burrows,
Nyland Green on the coverage. So you got two penalty markers,
one near the line of scrimmage and one on the
defensive back for perdue officials getta get sorted out.

Speaker 9 (02:21:55):
Saw the little offset deal, But I don't know there's
obviously pass interference on the on the first one or
on the second flag. First one, you felt like they
had too many men on the field and almost felt
like a free play vibe that that Locke felt like.
And it looks like the ball is moving. Yeah, it's
gonna be both on Purdue.

Speaker 11 (02:22:16):
Third two fouls by the defense offside defense number seventeen
that penalties decline. Pass interference defense number two fifteen yard
penalty automatic first down.

Speaker 3 (02:22:27):
So here you go, first and ten for the Badgers
of the twenty five yard line off Purdue with four
point forty eight led to the third quarter twenty eight
to six Wisconsin. You got Quincy Burrows out to the lefts,
Biddy Anthony wide right, Keckahuna slot on the right side.

Speaker 6 (02:22:47):
Ducree is the running back.

Speaker 3 (02:22:50):
Another scoring opportunity here for breaton lock of this Wisconsin offense.
Lock bakes the handoff look ging throws right side deep
watch Kackahuna.

Speaker 4 (02:22:59):
Crawling touch Byn touchdown, Wisconsin Pedaly marker down Checkahuonah fights
throwing and the Badgers are in again.

Speaker 9 (02:23:10):
Yeah, that's gonna be a pi on Perdue and just
a great job a lock with a really good throw.
Only trek Tod come down with it and then he
was able to fight through and Kekhuna kept his hands down,
pulled him up late was able to pluck the football
for a beautiful throw and catch and another explosive.

Speaker 8 (02:23:30):
Play by this wide receiving group.

Speaker 3 (02:23:32):
Have a day tretch Kekahunah his seventh reception this afternoon.
In his second touchdown catch, there's Nathaniel vekos On for
the pat Gavin Myers puts it down and the kick
is good.

Speaker 6 (02:23:51):
We'll keep it here.

Speaker 3 (02:23:52):
With four point forty two left to the third quarter,
thirty five to six, Wisconsin leading, Perdue, that Ford score
drive nine plays ninety eight yards, took four minutes thirty
nine seconds. More big plays here for the Badgers.

Speaker 6 (02:24:07):
Patrick.

Speaker 12 (02:24:08):
Yeah, you know, through the first few games, Wisconsin and
fans were kind of yearning for those explosive plays. That
was another one there, But even before that, Wisconsin has
had two fifty yard or more touchdown passes. Today, you
have to go back a long way to find the
last time they did that twenty thirteen to be exact.
The last time they did it in a Big Ten
game is twenty twelve.

Speaker 13 (02:24:28):
But Joel Stave hit James White and Jared eber Darris.
So when you're talking about explosive plays, we.

Speaker 12 (02:24:33):
Started to see it a little bit last week at
USC and maybe this is a little more what they
have an envision this offense can be.

Speaker 8 (02:24:40):
This dynamic.

Speaker 6 (02:24:42):
Looked at sharp raidon locks sixteen of twenty five two
hundred and ninety two yards, three touchdown passes. This Gavin
Long runs up and the kick is away and this
will hit Zack Way into the end zone. With the
touch back of the Boilers, we'll be get into their
twenty five yard line.

Speaker 9 (02:25:00):
Yeah, but that was a great play and a great throw,
great catch by Kakahuna. But I just think back to
the third down conversion where Brayden Locke got drilled in
the end zone and they picked up that first down
to keep the drive going, and then a little angle
route from our tailback from our young tailback Dupre in
an absolute dot. That was a really well executed That

(02:25:24):
might be my favorite drive of the year so far
that we've seen from Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (02:25:27):
That was pretty so playmakers at work, Relad. You love
the running back for the boiler Makers. They moved right
to left. As we see it in the third quarter,
Hudson Card will give it to Love over the left
side across the twenty five yard line, up across the
thirty and taken down there by Leon Lowry at the

(02:25:48):
thirty yard line on a gain of five. Thirty five
to six Wisconsint with four and a half and it's
left end quarter number three. Dave McDonald, Pilling Johnson, the
d lineman for Wisconsin. You know were we along with
Daryl Peterson, the outside linebacker's alegro and Jack at Curtis

(02:26:10):
and inside backer's Card throwing right side. Edre can't make
the play the forty five yard line of the far side.
He was available.

Speaker 6 (02:26:18):
Our date R. J.

Speaker 3 (02:26:18):
Delancey lost his footing there with the pass a little
bit wide. Then it's third and five with the Boilermakers
their own thirty.

Speaker 9 (02:26:26):
Yeah, I just can you have to see the big
arm there are. You're going from far hash to the
boundary and put it up there. De Lancy kind of
slipped a little bit. Would have been an easy but
he sailed it just.

Speaker 6 (02:26:36):
A little bit high for due one out of eights
on third down.

Speaker 8 (02:26:43):
A little different than last week, boy, no kidding.

Speaker 3 (02:26:45):
You know, usc was electrical in those situations. Middle Loss
and company. And as the snap back the card pressure
from a legro, they pick it up and throw left
side tips puck it up at kid play Savier Lucas
with the work defensively, nice job by the true freshman corner.

Speaker 8 (02:27:07):
Yeah, a legro just shot his gun.

Speaker 9 (02:27:08):
Saw the opening in the between the left guard and
the center came from linebacker. Dep got a hand in
there to make that throw a little bit more difficult.
And then really good coverage to get another opportunity here
to keep adding to this big lead.

Speaker 3 (02:27:22):
Yeah, Reggie loved the running back did a good job
of at least keeping his quarterback upright with the body
on the leg ro. Vinnie Anthony is deep, Krimin's on
the punt and then the kick is away and it'll
be Vinnie waiting for it, and he mucked in at
the twenty and he'll dive on it at the twenty
two yard line.

Speaker 8 (02:27:42):
Anytime there's a punt going this way, let's just let
it go. If that might be what we need to
start to doing.

Speaker 3 (02:27:46):
Wow, it's an adventure. Fifty yards on the punts. And
the Badgers started at their twenty two first and ten
with three fifty three and left to the third quarter
thirty five to six, Wisconsin leading.

Speaker 24 (02:28:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (02:28:00):
And obviously that sun is definitely a factor. We saw
it with Purdue twice. One time they were able to
recover it. One time Wisconsin really kind of got this
Paul Rowland with Wisconsin being able to score right after that.

Speaker 8 (02:28:12):
And now we put one on the ground.

Speaker 9 (02:28:14):
It's obviously something that really gives putt returners a lot
of problems.

Speaker 3 (02:28:18):
Cad Yachamelly in a running back now for the Badgers
in the twenty two of Wisconsin, Locke, We'll give it
to Yachamelly off the left side, looking for a cutback alley.
Nothing there, wrapped up by Horst Cole Brevard and then
Demico Kennedy on the defensive line. No game of the play,

(02:28:38):
second down and ten, Poor Wisconsin at its own twenty two.

Speaker 9 (02:28:41):
Yeah, Purdue is gonna obviously sell out here, and that
was just a stretch play to the left, not a
ton of movement. Perdue had a lot of bodies there
and Yakamello was not able to get started.

Speaker 3 (02:28:51):
Caate stays in there. Darien Duprie joined Ziem in the
Badgers backfield slot to the rights on second down and
ten Locke gets the stamp back to throw pressure throws
over the metal cup by Yacabelly thirty five yard line
and a violent collision with Tylon Thieneman a first down
on a gain of sixteen may get seventeen to the

(02:29:14):
forty nine yard thirty nine yard line. Beg your pardon
of Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (02:29:17):
Yeah, really similar out to what we saw Dupree run
just to the opposite hash and you're getting that running
back out on their linebacker, and it's a matchup that
Wisconsin really likes in Another really good throw, good catch
and an a big hit by Purdue, big.

Speaker 3 (02:29:32):
First down, get locked to three hundred and nine passing
yards in this game to forty left, third quarter, first
and ten Wisconsin the Badger's thirty nine yard line lock
will get it to Dupree off the right side across
the forty yard line and up to about the forty
one and it's Kennedy again on the defensive line of
freshmen at the Lexington, Kentucky gain of two second and

(02:29:55):
eight for the Badgers of their own forty one.

Speaker 9 (02:29:58):
Not a lot of room again, I think for new
is now to the point where they're just gonna continue
to bring bodies down in the box and make it
very difficult. There's an adjustment they made on that backside of.

Speaker 8 (02:30:08):
A lot of stuff.

Speaker 9 (02:30:08):
They're bringing guys down, and at this point I think
Wisconsin's content two to three yards second down at.

Speaker 6 (02:30:15):
Eight and pulling it back.

Speaker 3 (02:30:16):
His lock brows over the middle and that's caught by
Riley Noahkowski. He is chopped down in produe territory by
Joseph Jefferson at the forty four yard line of the
Boilers first in ten.

Speaker 9 (02:30:28):
Yeah, good run action, good play action to fake got
those linebackers to suck up a putting Noakowski with a
nice clean free release and another good throw. But Braydon
Locke has been really sharp here in the second half.

Speaker 3 (02:30:42):
Were no kidding He was in some kind of rhythm.
A minute and a half left of the third quarter,
thirty five to six Wisconsin. You three the running back
re receivers right one on the left loock throwing right side,
caught by Vinnie Anthony gets a block. He's inside the
forty long the numbers thirty five yard line. Vinnie Anthony
inside down to the thirty yard line of Purdue.

Speaker 6 (02:31:03):
You know, fourteen more in a first down four Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (02:31:06):
CJ.

Speaker 9 (02:31:07):
Williams made that play, just a quick out, get the
ball out of your hands, and c J. Williams did
a great job of securing the perimeter that allowed Anthony
to cut it up and pick up the first down.

Speaker 3 (02:31:17):
Burrows, Nowakowski and Anthony Why to the left, CJ. Williams
to the right, Gary and Dupre the running back of
the Purdue thirty yard line, first and ten lock is
it d Dupre big hold up the middle twenty five
to the.

Speaker 6 (02:31:27):
Twenty yard line.

Speaker 3 (02:31:28):
Garry and Dupre down of the seventeen Joseph Jefferson on
the tackle. Thirteen more, there's the Badgers down to the
case ihred zoned visit kseih dot com slash Badgers.

Speaker 9 (02:31:41):
Really good job by everybody involved, but runner with a
pull and a kickout and then you saw Dupree just
take the see the hole foot down and got vertical,
nice thirteen yard pickup.

Speaker 3 (02:31:53):
Hey, boiler Makers shaken up. So play is halted with
forty one seconds left in the third quarter, thirty five
to six Wisconsin. The Badgers have a first and ten
at the boiler Makers seventeen yard line. A lot of space,
but you've got a little idea. They are the burst

(02:32:15):
that Darien Dupree has on that last run.

Speaker 9 (02:32:19):
Yeah, and this is the great part about games like this,
and Wisconsin has not had an opportunity. You've seen Duprix
a little bit. But you get a lead, you're up.
What's the math on this twenty nine?

Speaker 8 (02:32:32):
Is that right? You're up twenty nine in the third quarter.

Speaker 9 (02:32:34):
This is a great opportunity to start getting some young
have already seen, Hey, we'd get.

Speaker 8 (02:32:38):
In there over at left tackle.

Speaker 9 (02:32:39):
You're seeing more young players getting these opportunities, and that's
where you start building confidence in these roles. Especially there's
some injuries at the wide receiver position. You really want
to see that confidence build as the season keeps going good.

Speaker 3 (02:32:53):
Lesson ten from the seventeen of Purdue. As we resume play,
three receivers left one on the right, dupre the running back,
you'll shift to the right of Braydon Lock. He gets
the snap, looking the throw pressure coming, Lock throws right
side and throws it away incomplete because Well Boilermaker's zeroing
in on the Badgers quarterback. Braydon wisely just throws it away.

(02:33:14):
Second and ten of the Produce seventeen yard line.

Speaker 9 (02:33:16):
They went back to the well they had Dupree was
gonna run that same little angle route that you saw
he bluffed the defensive end. The defensive end just kept coming,
came unblocked, pressure in his face, and actually had two
Purdue boiler Makers covering that little angle route that Wisconsin
has been successful on a few times with their running back.

Speaker 3 (02:33:33):
Second down, in the snap to Lock fakes the hand off,
shelfles left, throws and it's dropped by Anthony at the
twelve yard line. Not a perfect pass, but certainly a
catchable one. And it's now third down and ten from
the Produce seventeen yard line.

Speaker 8 (02:33:49):
Yeah, and I would like to see Braydon force the
issue a little bit.

Speaker 9 (02:33:51):
Third defensive ends of been telling you all half have
been crashing down outside and that is available to really
let that play develop.

Speaker 8 (02:33:58):
He had there was nobody out on the perimeter.

Speaker 9 (02:34:01):
Get out there that there's no There's all kinds of
space for you to even add more pressure to what
Purdue is doing, because you can then run pick up
ten yards or you could force that coverage to come
up and that would open up a little bit bigger play.

Speaker 6 (02:34:13):
Tretch got Kahuna back in there.

Speaker 3 (02:34:15):
One of three receivers to the left, lock turns, gets
at the Walker inside the fifteen, Walker.

Speaker 4 (02:34:19):
To the ten turn the five touchdown Wisconsin Torwie Walker
ripping through the defense and scores from seventeen yards away.

Speaker 3 (02:34:32):
As the Badgers putting their foot down here in Madison
this afternoon.

Speaker 8 (02:34:38):
Yeah, love that finish.

Speaker 9 (02:34:39):
That was a looked like an eight or nine yard run,
but Tywee just kept moving his feet and looked like
Kevin Haywood pulled from his left tackle position and got
on that linebacker really well executed play.

Speaker 8 (02:34:53):
Great finish by Walker to finish that drive.

Speaker 3 (02:34:55):
Off and Athaniel vako Son for another PA team and
the other kick is away and it is good. We'll
keep it here. Twelve seconds left in the third quarter,
forty two to six Wisconsin Leeds perdue that four to
scouring drive nine plays seventy eight yards, took three minutes

(02:35:15):
forty one seconds.

Speaker 6 (02:35:18):
Wie Walker with his third rushing touchdown this afternoon.

Speaker 8 (02:35:21):
Yeah, he's having a day.

Speaker 9 (02:35:22):
And I think one of the things you heard in
the beginning of the week is we have to start
kind of narrowing that running back field, get guys opportunities
to get lathered or to get get comfortable. And I
think it's fair to say, tywe's pretty comfortable today. Nineteen
for ninety four with three tutters and you just you
since that was gonna be his kind of day. And

(02:35:45):
I didn't use the term this week get right game
because Purdue's obviously struggling, but I just felt like it
wasn't a fair assessment of where both teams are at.

Speaker 8 (02:35:55):
But this has been a get right game for Wisconsin.

Speaker 9 (02:35:58):
A lot of the things that we've wanted to see
Wisconsin has delivered this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (02:36:02):
Yeah, as the last couple of decades have told us,
this is just a dominant series here in Wisconsin's fatal line.
Because Davin lomb kicks off and this will be taken
at the goal line, right side of the five to
the ten. Elijah Jackson breaking left of the fifteen yard line.
There's Chris Brooks again turning in some work on the

(02:36:23):
kick coverage unit. We will make the tackle at the
fifteen yard line. The Badgers have beaten Produce seventeen straight times,
including eight in a row at Camp Randall, and in
those eight games, the Badgers have averaged thirty six and
a half points per game. So the offensive troubles being
what they have been in recent years, not so much
against Purdue, No.

Speaker 8 (02:36:44):
It has been.

Speaker 9 (02:36:45):
And you know, you look at it. Your quarterback is
thrown for three hundred and thirty eight yards. You got
one hundred and eighteen yards on the ground, and we're
not even to.

Speaker 8 (02:36:55):
Jump around yet.

Speaker 6 (02:36:56):
But we're close.

Speaker 8 (02:36:59):
We're at butter up there it is Buttercup.

Speaker 6 (02:37:01):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 3 (02:37:02):
My first down hand off Devin Mockerby off the right side,
turns the corner twenty twenty five yard line and up
to about the twenty seven or twenty eight Hunter Woller
getting over there for Wisconsin. And that'll be the final
play of the third quarter, the real close to jump
around now. Badge of Football brought you by Cleary Building
Reprotect Watch a value isit clearybuilding dot Com to see
the cleary difference at the end of three Wisconsin forty

Speaker 6 (02:37:25):
The fourth quarter is next. This is Badger football from Learfield.

Speaker 8 (02:37:29):
I'm Sawyer and I'm Shannon.

Speaker 37 (02:37:31):
Together we're Twin Stuns, the only twin motorcycle freestyle show

Speaker 13 (02:37:36):
We are born and raised in Wisconsin.

Speaker 38 (02:37:38):

been going well for the home team this say afternoon,
forty two to six Wisconsin leeds perdue.

Speaker 6 (02:40:09):
And as we begin quarter number four.

Speaker 8 (02:40:12):
In a while since we've had a scenario like this.

Speaker 3 (02:40:14):
It's been game in hand, twenty seven yard line perdue
territory a lights. Jackson starts in motion, they'll pop passing
to him running left. Got away from Cheeks, but.

Speaker 6 (02:40:24):
Not Curtis, who just pounds him to the turf.

Speaker 3 (02:40:27):
At the line of scrimmage, tacking Curtis busting over there
to get to Elijah Jackson.

Speaker 9 (02:40:34):
Yeah, great effort there, just really good pursuit to the football.
They're trying to go sideline to sideline.

Speaker 8 (02:40:42):
You run with them and then you bring the wood.
That was a very physical play there by Curtis turned.

Speaker 3 (02:40:47):
Into a loss of one to the twenty six of
the boiler Maker's second down and eleven. Derevin Makabee is
the running back. Cam Brown slid on the right side,
snap back to Kart Padrick sending four card looking stack up,
checks it down. That's caught by Maccabee and a collision
created by Xavier Lucas, the six to two true freshman cornerback.

(02:41:09):
It's Maccaby to the turb of the thirty yard line,
game of four. It's third down and seven.

Speaker 8 (02:41:14):
Yeah, pretty good protection.

Speaker 9 (02:41:15):
What I love there is you keep everything in front
of you, and you have a big lead, keep things
in front of you. Rally to the football, get guys
down on the ground with a little bit of authority.
Wisconsin did that care.

Speaker 3 (02:41:25):
Receives right one on the left maccaby to the right
of the quarterback. Hutson car takes his snap back to
throw against the four man rush deep shot down the middle.
It is incomplete, intended for brown lo fi on the coverage.
There's a penalty marker in the Purdue backfield.

Speaker 6 (02:41:48):
Man. Here's the goal.

Speaker 11 (02:41:49):
Arsenal foul illegal chop block offense number seventy seven and
number forty five.

Speaker 8 (02:41:55):
The penalties declined.

Speaker 3 (02:41:56):
It's fourth down, dangerous play those chop so the boiler
Makers will be punting.

Speaker 6 (02:42:02):
And then at fifteen into.

Speaker 9 (02:42:03):
The fourth quarter, Yeah, and a lot of times what
you see with that is you slide a protection and
you have an offensive lineman kind of put a hand
up and the running back or a tight end will
come in and try and chop the guy down.

Speaker 8 (02:42:16):
To get you an easy quick throw out of court
than seven.

Speaker 9 (02:42:19):
And you know, unfortunately, that's a dangerous play that I
know college football on the professional games, trying to get rid.

Speaker 3 (02:42:26):
Of so Crimin's on the punt yet yet again the
snap back to him and their kick is away and
this is gonna sail out of bounds.

Speaker 6 (02:42:35):
You shank this one. Let's see how far up the
line they go.

Speaker 8 (02:42:38):

Cole Brovard still in there working hard. Senior at a Carmel, Indiana.

(02:46:14):
Former Penn State Nitney Lyon loss of a couple to
the forty one of the Boilermakers. Second down and twelve.

Speaker 9 (02:46:20):
That looks like I'm trying to look at the off
that we've had Haywood in there. It looks like Ben
Shaw's in at right guard, but I think the others
are still your starters. As we're twelve and a half
minutes in here to go in the fourth court.

Speaker 3 (02:46:32):
If you have runner left guard Renfrow in the center,
Riley Malman remains in there at right tackle. Jackson would
go in in there slot to the left because Locke
will get into Yaka. Melly makes one man miss across
the forty yard line and dragged down by Jeffrey Imba
at the thirty seven of Purdue and the Badgers of
a third make it the thirty eight of Purdue, make

(02:46:53):
it third down to nine.

Speaker 9 (02:46:54):
Really athletic play there by their nose of being able
to get off because Jakamelly did a nice job of
kind of puts it to that front right side, did
a quick cutback and if he doesn't get tackled.

Speaker 8 (02:47:04):
Here, he still has a lot of space to go.
Pretty athletic play by a defensive line.

Speaker 6 (02:47:11):

Speaker 3 (02:47:12):
Quincy burrows out to the lefts block takes gives it
to Yachamelly has a burst up the middle inside the

see where they spot it now, they'll check it back

the ball and burn off some more time.

Speaker 6 (02:47:42):

Ryan Brown, Richard freshman out of Clarkston, Michigan, and they're
at quarterback now, wait as snap goal to go. Sit
you to the first half in a handoff with the
right sight twenty five to the thirty yard line, cutting
left thirty five to the forty forty five yard line.

Speaker 8 (02:53:06):
Ball is loose.

Speaker 3 (02:53:07):
They got knocked out Breton Normal fall on it four
Wisconsin back of the forty yard line of the Badgers.
Jeheem Merriweather, a true freshman, had an impressive run until
he lost control of the football and more the safety
is able to pounce and that was to see who
that was with lot tooy lot to forced it out.

Speaker 8 (02:53:31):
Yep, man a big hole.

Speaker 9 (02:53:33):
Nice run, but you didn't finish it and give Wisconsin's
defense credit. Found a way to create another turnover on
a we have perfect afternoon here in Madison.

Speaker 3 (02:53:43):
We will see Maybury Matoya, the freshman six four to
two thirty out of the Woodlands, Texas four star recruits,
and he'll get some turns down with the fourth quarter,
gets the staff, he'll hand off to Dylan Jones, another
freshman running back, crashes over the left side of the
line to the forty three yard line of Wisconsin on

(02:54:05):
a gain of three.

Speaker 6 (02:54:06):
Dylan Jones, a true freshman out of Laurel, Maryland.

Speaker 9 (02:54:10):
A lot of offensive a lot of new guys. Looks
like Mandel's in at right tackle everybody, I think, but
I think Brunner is still in there at left guard.
But the wholesale changes up front as well.

Speaker 3 (02:54:22):
Kerry Kadenko the center. Now, if you're senior out of
Green Bay ten to fifteen, remaining forty nine to six
Wisconsin leeds perdue is Mtoyer on second down and seven
of the Badgers forty three yard line. Two receivers right
and one on the left. But Toyer gets a snap, reads, keeps,
throws to McGowen off the right side, and he is

(02:54:44):
thrown out of bounds at the forty five yard line
of the far side.

Speaker 6 (02:54:52):
Badger's down the third and five.

Speaker 9 (02:54:53):
Yeah, and this is always a tricky part of the
game because obviously the games in hand and you want
to be respectful, but you also want to get your
young players. You got to do the right things, and
you know you don't want to run up scores and
you want to be, you know, be the classy sportsman deal,
but you also want to make sure these guys are
making the right reids, doing the right things. And still
these guys want to go down to score touchdowns and

(02:55:15):
we want to see it.

Speaker 3 (02:55:16):
Yeah, we want to get some quality work for these guys.
Kai and Barry Johnson will the receivers slat to the
left third and five Asmatoyer gives it to Dylan Jones
off the left side, pulls through a defender at the
fifty forty five forty Jones thirty five forty twenty five,
twenty down the sideline, ten brought down inside the ten
yard line, Dylan Jones making people miss and then he

(02:55:39):
hits another gear first in goal at the eight.

Speaker 8 (02:55:42):
Oh, really good patience by Jones.

Speaker 9 (02:55:44):
He pushes left side, the front side of it cuts
back and I thought it was going to be tackling
yard short of the first down.

Speaker 8 (02:55:50):
He ran through a tackle.

Speaker 9 (02:55:52):
And what we've seen today is Wisconsin's athletes, especially against
produced secondary, that speed has really shown up.

Speaker 8 (02:55:59):
That was a nice finish to that run. Long chunk
run by.

Speaker 3 (02:56:03):
Jones forty seven yards for the true freshman first in
goal at the eights, Badgers back into the KSEH red zone.
Visit khi caseh dot com slash Badgers crystal formation. But
Tooyer gives it to Jones again, got hit behind the
line of scrimmage and wiggles his way back to the nine.
So instead of a loss of a couple of yards,

(02:56:24):
he's able to get a little a little less damage
out of that place. Second and goal at the nine
of Purdue.

Speaker 8 (02:56:33):
Yeah, and I like this. You slowed the tempo down.
You're turning clock.

Speaker 9 (02:56:37):
You still want to go out and execute the plays
that you're calling, but you also want to make sure
not up tempo in this run.

Speaker 8 (02:56:43):
That clock milk this down.

Speaker 3 (02:56:46):
At the end of this game, second down in goal,
Latoyer has Jones to his left, two receivers lefts one
on the rights. Lay clock is it five? But Tooyer
will move Jones behind him now as Maby takes the
snap half hands off the Jones hit behind the line
of scrimmage. Again, that was Scilla getting him first. Jones
losing a yard to the ten of Purdue or it's

(02:57:09):
third in goal.

Speaker 8 (02:57:10):
Yeah, that play was not executory.

Speaker 9 (02:57:12):
Well, high snap out to the left and you know
the transfer the penetration in the back, and that was
not very well executed on all fronts by Wisconsin's offense.

Speaker 3 (02:57:22):
I Barry Johnson checking back into the lineup for the
Badgers freshman out of Bowling Brook, Illinois, and placed the
ball at the eleven. In fact of Purdue, the receivers
left Chris Brooks out to the lights. Here has Dylan
Jones to his right, mavery take looking to throw for him.

(02:57:42):
Man rush Vatoyer looking steps up, avoids the rush bits
his way inside the ten yard line. Is roll to
the turf at the nine and the Badgers will send
on the field goal team.

I think we all expected Wisconsin's offense to have some
success running the football today.

Speaker 8 (03:00:04):
They've been able to do that. And I think the
key to this game.

Speaker 9 (03:00:07):
And I know you're gonna say it's fifty two to six, Well,
do you mean key to the game limiting on those turnovers,
limiting them to field goals when if they score touchdowns?

Speaker 8 (03:00:17):
You never know how these games turn out. But when
you can limit and then go down and get that
touchdown before the half, I think that took a lot
of the fights from these Boiler Makers.

Speaker 3 (03:00:26):
No, it makes perfect sense. There's a first down throw
like side Drew Bibber makes a man miss and then
slips and goes down ohen Arnette slowed him down. Bibber
up to the thirty one yard line of the game
of six. Yeah, but gets those two turnovers near midfield.

Speaker 9 (03:00:41):
Yeah, fourteen to ten looks a whole lot different than
fourteen to six, and then you know a little bit
of mismanagement, but you can't really say mismanagement because you
end up scoring a touchdown with nine seconds left in
the half, and it just it makes such a difference
that little segment of the last three four minutes of
the half in that first kickoff.

Speaker 8 (03:01:01):
And Wisconsin executed it beautifully.

Speaker 3 (03:01:03):
Today, Ryan Brown remains the quarterback on sega down. He
will give it off the right side, Elijah Jackson off
the right side of the offensive line across the thirty
five up to the thirty six yard line of the
first down for the Purdue Boilermakers.

Speaker 9 (03:01:19):
That's Lowry just did a little jump swim inside from
his left defensive end spot and.

Speaker 8 (03:01:26):
Gave Perdue a little bit of room off of that
edge to pick up that first down.

Speaker 6 (03:01:31):
Mury Snowden now on the secondary playing the boundary corner,
Jase Arnold on the white side there thirty six of
Purdue first and ten. That's cleared, the tied in motions
to the formation reading it, keeping it, Brown getting away,
trying to get away from Cheeks and Brown trying to
throw it away and incomplete I don't know you got

(03:01:54):
outside the tackle box that the pass didn't go beyond
the line of scrimmage. Let's see if they'll call a
sack here? Ye clock yet they sure are.

Speaker 3 (03:02:04):
They're winding the clock, but they haven't spotted the ball,
and they're gonna rule it incomplete. So though, ye know,
Luke Fickle not real happy about that, and he's if
you're gonna be incomplete, they want a penalty here.

Speaker 6 (03:02:17):
They're also gonna put some time back on the clock.
I guess are they just the.

Speaker 8 (03:02:22):
Twenty four yard line where it'll be second out?

Speaker 6 (03:02:25):
All right?

Speaker 9 (03:02:25):
There you go, oh instant review, yeah, topic, Yeah, I
thought Cheeks did such a good job there of you know,
there's a lot of space. He gets his hands up
in the air to not give him that option to
throw the football and then to corral him, and he
did get him to get his knee down before he's
able to get rid of it.

Speaker 3 (03:02:44):
So back now at the twenty four yard line of Purdue,
second down in twenty two, keeping in his ground, running left,
and he gets belted across the twenty five yard line.
That was a Maori Snowton getting over there. We'll market
at the twenty six of the far side, and it's
third down.

Speaker 6 (03:03:04):
And twenty.

Speaker 3 (03:03:06):
On a four to ho five remaining badgrews in complete
command fifty two to six Elijah Jackson the running back

(03:03:27):
and Usowinski's slot on the right. Here was a toss
to Jackson off the right side, and he's outside the
numbers across the thirty yard line, slowed down by Tackett.
Curtis on on our net getting over there as well,
and it'll be fourth down and the boiler Maker's punting.

Speaker 6 (03:03:42):
They'd need twelve. They'll punt for their own thirty four
yard line.

Speaker 9 (03:03:45):
Yeah, that was another good example of you know, keeping
guys inside, keeping your leverage and then rally into the football.

Speaker 8 (03:03:52):
And I think Wisconsin has done a really.

Speaker 9 (03:03:54):
Good job of that today and their effort ain't their
execution really took a hit last week with what we
saw on third down today one of eleven and a
big part of that a little bit of penalty, but
keeping purdueing those third and longs and not allowing them.

Speaker 8 (03:04:10):
To pick up first downs. It's been a huge part
of today's game.

Speaker 3 (03:04:13):
Hunt is away, Vinnie Anthony moving over to his right,
you'll feel at the twenty one yard line, makes one
man miss and then pays for it gets smacked. Feeling
Fenum in there to finish up Shy the twenty five
yard line. They'll mark at the twenty four first and
ten for Wisconsin with two minutes and fifty one seconds
to play, fifty two to six. Let's plaut ten seconds

(03:04:33):
for station identification ten for an ID. This is Badger
football from lear Field out of the turn for Maybury.
Matoyer at quarterback, Dylan Jones getting more work as well.
Hawking Anderson the lineup now receiver out on the left side.
Badger's beginning at their twenty four yard line. There's Mtoyer,

(03:04:56):
you'll get at the Jones off the right side. He's
across the thirty yard line. I'm dragging a defender up
to the thirty one Joseph Jefferson on the stop gain
of seven for Dylan Jones, second down and three four Wisconsin.

Speaker 8 (03:05:09):
I really love his burst.

Speaker 9 (03:05:11):
You know again, we're seeing that pushing that front side,
pushing that front side, cutting back, and then you saw
you love the burst. You saw it on that really
long run, and you saw it right there as well,
just an ankle tackle away from busting another.

Speaker 6 (03:05:24):
One second down and three two eighteen and counting left
of the game Latoyer, We'll hand it to Jones again.
It makes a man miss a nice job there.

Speaker 3 (03:05:35):
Look like somebody had him square it up and he's
able to scoop by him and Dylan Jones gets the
first down up to the thirty five yard liners. We'll
have our two minute timeouts. You're in Madison. We'll take
a break two minutes to play Wisconsin fifty two Produe six.

Speaker 6 (03:05:52):
This is Badger football from lear Field.

Speaker 3 (03:05:56):

Talasian Earlygue Kick and Runners next week and back here. Yeah,
we just hurt that.

Speaker 8 (03:07:03):
Yeah, we just heard that.

Speaker 9 (03:07:05):
It's like it's a sign from above to tell us
to get to Adels next weekend after hopefully a big
win out the Scataway, which gonna be a huge challenge
out there. We got a chance to watch that. I
think they had a Friday night game when we were
out in La last week. Got the chance to watch
a bunch of that game and great Ciano, you know
when he coached in the pros. Physical saw a lot

(03:07:26):
of that from the Rutgers Nights last week. And I gonna,
as bary Avas can always say, better bring your lunch
pill and your hard hat because that's gonna be that
kind of game next Saturday morning out in New Jersey.

Speaker 6 (03:07:38):
Yeah, the Scarlet Knights playing Nebraska this afternoon. An interesting game, Huscars.

Speaker 3 (03:07:44):
With just a one loss the overtime set back to
Illinois and Rutgers.

Speaker 6 (03:07:50):
Goes into today's game undefeated two minutes to play, fifty
two to six Wisconsin leading the Purdue Boilermakers is the
Badgers will make it team straight wins in this series.

Speaker 3 (03:08:02):
It's the second longest winning streak in a series in
the conference. Ohio State has beaten Indiana twenty eight straight times.
They've also beaten Minnesota twelve straight times, with the Badgeries
second most with this winning streak now, which we'll go
to eighteen.

Speaker 9 (03:08:16):
Yeah, you know, one of the things I just love
watching this time out. Got all these young offensive linemen
in there. You know, everybody is now the starters had
a great day and all of them are up there
kind of coaching up their guys and you know, being
able to sit in some of the meeting rooms and
things like that.

Speaker 8 (03:08:32):
You just love. That's how you build culture. That's how
you build that back bench.

Speaker 9 (03:08:37):
Get these young guys and showing that you're engaged and
I'm interested. I just love seeing the old veteran salty guys.
They get this great opportunity to kind of put their
feet up. In the fourth quarter, they're out there helping
these young fellas.

Speaker 6 (03:08:50):
Getting in a tuca in the backfield.

Speaker 3 (03:08:51):
Now, true freshman gets the handoff off the left side
and he pops his way up to the thirty nine
yard line. He's five to nine, but two thirty two.
He was one of the early enrollees, has involved in
spring ball. He's got some pop when he runs it
and a boiler Maker is down and it's going to
need some attention here. It was a four yard run

(03:09:12):
for Batuca, and we'll stop play with a minute forty
four remaining. It's been that kind of a day and
that kind of a season so far for Purdue.

Speaker 8 (03:09:22):
Yeah, it's tough.

Speaker 9 (03:09:23):
I mean, it's when you look at the total plays
and you start looking at seventy one to forty eight,
even though the time of possessions twenty eight to twenty eight,
those amount of plays in Wisconsin just wearing out Purdue
this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (03:09:40):
Can't pick up the number yet injured Boilermaker. It is
Winston Berglan, one of their linebackers, red shirt freshman. The
other one of those players out of Carmel, Indiana, and
going insisted to the sideline, walking but gingerly so. So

(03:10:02):
there's a ten second runoff there for you could have
waved that away, but no reason to. It had a
time out left. So we go from forty four to
one thirty four. Now the clock is running in the
final ninety seconds at Camp Randalls Stadium. Second down and
six Badgers at the thirty nine yard line. Another turn
for a Tuca trying the right side, squeezes a yard.

(03:10:24):
Joe Anderson getting in there for the boiler Makers. Third
down and five for Wisconsin. Cole Brivard also in on
the tackle. One oh five to play.

Speaker 6 (03:10:38):
Fifty two to six, Wisconsin leading produce.

Speaker 8 (03:10:41):
Did you envision this today when we got up here
bright and early.

Speaker 6 (03:10:44):
No, I didn't really know what to expect. Yeah, I
kind of made me nervously.

Speaker 8 (03:10:48):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 9 (03:10:48):
And you're talking to some people down there, it was.
I think you got the vibe today. We really need
to have a day, and that's exactly what we've had.

Speaker 8 (03:10:57):
We've had a day.

Speaker 3 (03:10:58):
Dylan Jones in there well, thirty nine of Wisconsin. Here's
the hand off to Jones working the left side and
Dylan Jones with patient running, he'll pick his way for
a first down on what should be the final play
here up to the thirty six yard line, thirty seconds remaining,
and the Badgers will let the remaining time burn off.

(03:11:19):
And it's eighteen straight wins in this series. Now or
Wisconsin against Purdue Badgers even their Big Ten record at
one apiece, and they improved a three and two overall,
a much needed performance this afternoon for Luke Fickles Badgers.

Speaker 30 (03:11:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (03:11:37):
I was hesitant to say get right game because this
team I think needed from a confidence standpoint, just a
overall vibe standpoint. Needed a day like today where every
faction of their team feels good and when you win
fifty two to six, that's the case.

Six Wisconsin defeats Perdue. Here today is a Badger offense
which had been struggling mightily.

Speaker 6 (03:15:56):
Thanks so much today.

Speaker 3 (03:15:57):
Braid Lock twenty of thirty one, three hundred fifty nine yards,
three touchdowns, two interceptions, one bad luck, the other not
a great throw. But tretch Kekahuna. I think fans have
been waiting for him to get more involved in the offense,
and there were some receivers who went down today. But
six catches, one hundred and thirty four yards and two touchdowns.
That's a that's a I know Purdue is struggling big

(03:16:19):
time right now, but though that's an impressive day.

Speaker 9 (03:16:22):
For Yeah, ninety three yack yards, I guess you can't.
You'd have to double up Yack. But ninety three yards
after catch and you know, doing some things in the
run game. We've been wondering and wanting to see more
of him, you know. Unfortunately a couple injuries in that
role was elevated today, and to his credit, he was
ready for the moment, and you start factoring all those

(03:16:43):
things in. I really love the way Braydon Locke approached
the game from about the middle of the second quarter.
Had some adversity he had overcome, and you love to
see things executed the way the messaging is throughout the
week and when you're talking complimentary football in handling adversity.

Speaker 8 (03:17:01):
When you can do that, coaches love to be able
to complain.

Speaker 9 (03:17:05):
I don't even think this coaching staff today is going
to have a ton to complain about it.

Speaker 3 (03:17:08):
Yeah, it was one of those things that this coaching
staff wanted to see. How do you handle it when
things you said it before the year started out? Are
you going to handle if you're four and oh three
and one? How are you going to deal with two
and two? You've got a pretty encouraging answer here today.

Speaker 9 (03:17:21):
You indeed did, and you know Produce is struggling that
they you don't fire your offensive coordinator if you're feeling
great about where you're at as a football team, and
this is what you are supposed to do when you're
a football team that is trying to grow get better.

Speaker 8 (03:17:35):
You know, you just you hear what Luke Fickle always says.

Speaker 9 (03:17:38):
The team we see in September isn't going to be
the team that you want to see at the end.

Speaker 6 (03:17:42):
Of the year.

Speaker 8 (03:17:43):
And today was a great step forward.

Speaker 9 (03:17:46):
Even though maybe the test wasn't as obviously as tough
as what we've seen earlier, you saw really good signs
of things that this team needs to do to be
able to handle these tests that are coming up.

Speaker 3 (03:17:57):
