Speaker 2 (00:09):
And I said, because it is Wisconsin Star.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Sorry, six straight wins against nationally ranked opponent.

(00:52):
Here's the voice of Badger Hockey, Brian Posick.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
With Paul Kepplebiaco Ferry Pacmara, and Nicholas Beth the freeze tonight.
Last night they called fifteen penalties for forty one minutes.
Nick Hoff and Justin Cornell are the linesmen. We paused
ten seconds for station identification, ten seconds for illegal ID.
You're listening to Wisconsin Badger Hockey. Cardinal and White of
Wisconsin diagonally white down the sweaters here at yost Areena,

(01:19):
Michigan comes out in white cursive Michigan across the chest
mays and blue trim, of course the winged helmets. It's
Wisconsin and Michigan meeting for the one hundred and seventy
fifth time, and we're underway at Yost Arena. Badgers won
the face off and dumped it in held in right
wing wall by Jack Horbach cycles down to the corner
in Mellon Baker, who got knocked down, pitched to pass

(01:40):
the blue line deck shimmer. Night's move. Here's a give
and go. Mellon Bucker with a shot safe by Corpy
rebound loose came out to show wide open, shoots it
right into the chest of Corpy.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
A guine.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
He shoots it. Corpie sticks out his right path. Three
great looks early for Wisconsin.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Wow, let's it can't start any better than putting the
puck of the Natty on the four checkis jackr Bock
battling to keep it alive.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Michigan throws it wildly out to center ice gathered there
by shoals, and he sends it right back in so
Zach Schulez peppering his fellow South Lion Michigan native in Corpy,
but Gorpy kept the puck out of the net scoreless.
Here fifty seconds into the opening period, lead feed for
Garrett Schifsky couldn't touch it or didn't connect with it,

(02:22):
but he was able to deflect it down to the
Wisconsin zone and Scarfhony rimmed it around to Daniel Lodge
and headman's to Cody Leskowski, who dumped it in. Cody
with a big short handed goal twenty seconds into the
second period last night, they gave the Badgers a two
nothing lead. Michigan breaks out, ships Key, hits the brakes,
wheels and throws a puck towards the slot, off the
skate of Morrissey and paddle away by Scarfoni. That puck

(02:44):
eventually got on goal and Gavin Morrissey chips it out
off the wall in front of the Badgers bench. Taken
now by Michigan. Here's Rayo Mullen long range shot by
Michael Hage, bockered his side by Scarfhony Badgers. In transition,
Morrissey given go with Mosley. He tracks it down behind
the net, sets a Finley in front rebound oh he

(03:04):
pitched it over the top of the cage. Finley's first
shot denied by Corpy's second bid just a bit too high.
Now it's loose. Here's a shovel pass by Wisconsin Schorier
shoal low slot, didn't get through out to the point.
Care Now his shot goes off a stick and Carr
hims off the top of the glass and out of play.
To one fifty four into the first period, no score

(03:25):
of the Badgers, just peppering the Michigan nets.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Wow. Two minutes in and I think maybe five scoring
chances already by Wisconsin Battery, d active shoals and Beck
dex Sheimer creating on that first flurry one of them.
A great job by dex Shimon to pull a puck
out of the air, put it down the blue line,
and he just found himself with two other patries right
in the slot and nobody from Michigan there Goaltender Corpy

(03:51):
did a heck of a job here to keep Michigan
in this game early.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
He's a big young man too. At six point forty
face off, Lindmark tried to shoot it as he won
the draw, but fell down buck loose at the Michigan
line and William Whitelaw, the former Badger, has it and
snaps off a headman pass to TJ. Hughes, who went
from top line center to fourth line center in one night.
He was only two shots on goal last night. Buck

(04:14):
loose in the Wisconsin zone and the Badger's able to
jam it free owhen lynn Mark with it backhand to
the head, finds Horbach and he takes a hit from
behind by Hughes. At a penalty coming up on the
Michigan centerman. TJ. Hughes no need to clobber Horbach, who
was gathered along the near side wall, and he cross
checked him right in the back and the Badger's get

(04:35):
a cuenest power play two minutes and twenty two seconds
into the first period.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
But obviously last night was a power play that got
the batter's going and got that lead in the first period. Here,
they haven't read it and needed any help so far,
but the way they started this, he'd love to have
something to put in the bank. A goal here would
get to kind of earn them what they've gotten so far.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Morrisey's out there with mose Lean, Liskowski, Finley and Deckzheimer
and Michigan wins the defensive zone face off and it
slides through center and the Badgers We'll set things up
from there. So hughes cross checking at two twenty two
lead feed. Finley with speed left wing, comes in and
whistles one wide glove side on corpie, off the corner
boards and all the way back into the Wisconsin zone.

(05:22):
It's the danger of shooting it from that side or
from off flank if you will.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I say, Michigan did a couple times last night. Finley
has been a offender of that a few times earlier
on the season. You haven't seen that in a while,
but that time it costs the Badgers clear in here.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
An entry yep and offside called on Wisconsin and Mike
Castings will change up his power play unit. This unit
scored the first period power play goal last night, with
lynn Mark and Kuchen and Dick Fitzgerald and Hensler. Kyle
Kuchanan buried his fifth of the year a redirect on
a shot by Fitzgerald at eight thirty five of the
first lynn Mark ticked the draw against Marcus Stoppa. At

(06:02):
some point these two won't face each other anymore. They've
been in college hockey for a long long time. Badgers
win the draw and Hensler rims it around. Lynn Mark
cancels out the stick of the Michigan forward to allow
it to get to the blue line. Hensler sends it
in deep round to the near side. Tyson Dick has
it at the hash Marks left, fell down with the
aid of Michigan defenseman Tyler Duke both back on their skates,

(06:24):
the puck chuggled around a little bit, and here comes
Michigan's Garrett Schifsky three short handed goals for Shifty this season,
brushing in against Tensler and then ran into a double
team and spins it around to the far side in
a wide open Kieran and Draper, who trips on himself.
He tried to pirouette with the puck and fell over
himself and the Badger's habit. Here's Dick right wing across
the line. Lin Mark drops it back for Kuchan and

(06:45):
tries to protect Draper. Hip checks him into the wall
and then gets position on Kuchan in to win the
puck free and clear it all the way down by
their captain defenseman Jacob Truscott, thirty eight seconds left of
the Badger's power play. No score. Were minutes and forty
five seconds into the first period. Finley Head man's Morrissey
tries to go right back to Finley, catches off the wall,

(07:06):
back door pass and tended for Leskowski, didn't reach him
and then knocked free by Ernesty out to center. Trying
to get around deck, Seimer lost the puck. Michigan delayed
off side. Now they touch up. The Badgers have possession.
Warisey threw the center circle, feers off to his left,
passed to Moseley in the slot. Too hot to handle.
Moseley's stick lifted up and out of his hands as
Michigan clears. No penalty there. The Badger's power play about

(07:29):
to expire, and the Wolverines back at full strength. Fifteen
thirty eight left in the opening period. No score.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
They're not much going there for Wisconsin power play. I
hope they keep them and him going from earlier heres.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Finley now puts it in front of the nets and
going to the cage. Was Wisconsin Sawyer's shoal. He was
helped into the crossbar by the defenseman. Duke in the
cage came off its moorings, and a whistle stops play.
Fifteen thirty to go in this scoreless first period. Our
opening face off every night brought to you by Odyssey
Greenek Yogurt. Start your day with thick, creamy and all

(08:02):
natural Greek yogurt with real flavorful fruit. Ought to see
Greek yogurt.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
So here's all that play going to the slot just
basically bounced off Duke and right into the crossbar. I
think Duke was just playing the puck. Maybe gave a
little bit of a push char as a net. But
it looked like Duke maybe was laughing. I can almost
see his body language.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Ryan Botterrel on the ice for the Badgers, the freshman forward,
seeing his first action since the ten State series he
was out with an upper body injury. He scored in
that Friday night game against Penn State. Here's a shot
by Ethan Edwards, the defenseman, as he gained the Wisconsin
line off the stick of Karen out of play. But
against scored in the opening game against Penn State of
five to four Wisconsin win, but then was injured in

(08:45):
that game or actually in the following game and unable
to play since then. But he's in the lineup tonight.
Bottrel's dad's cousin, Jason Botterrell, and all American here at
the University of Michigan. A lot of botterols around, a
lot of Horris sees around, a lot of shoals around
in the building here tonight in last night, a lot

(09:06):
of red up behind the badger's bench, across the way,
face off to the right of Tommy Scarfhoni's face. Two shots,
not much on either of them. Scoreless year. Almost five
minutes into the opening period and Lynn Mark beats t. J.
Hughes and the face off circle Badgers win it and
scoop it out to center. It bounces past the defenseman
Hunter Haiti, giving chase Mellenbacher, and Haiti wiped him out.

(09:27):
Steel though by lynn Mark, and he fires a shot
too high and then all the way off the glass
and back out through center. Eyes Heenzler, which is it
ahead to Mellenbacher, He'll send it in Horbock the lone
four checkers Wisconsin changes here Man Haiti breakout pass to
the defenseman Luca fan Tilly near side. Now Jackson Hallum,

(09:48):
with speed back behind the net, threw it off the
end boards to no one in particular. It was intercepted
by Dexzheimer, who almost gave it back, but Ben now
has it Dexheimer ten assists this season, still looking for
his first.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Puck turned over, Michigan bumps it off the end boards
towards the grease and Scarfooni has to put his glove
down and covers fourteen twenty five left first period, no
score Wisconsin and Michigan.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
You love those early plays where white Law just puts
a stick into the glove of Scarfhoni. When he covers
it up, gives Scarfoni gives the a little bit back
to white Law. The referees right there, just warning the players.
Last time we saw Quinn Fainley get called for penalty
for doing that.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Even though the puck was loose. Yes, Badrews win the
defensive zone, face off lead feet Christian Fitzgerald up the
middle of the ice for Leskowsky couldn't handle it, taken
away by Michigan's Thomas Daskis, and then he mishandles the
puck by the benches. Wolverines have it back and it's
loose near the Badger's line, brought down with the left
hand of Zach Schulz, skates to open eyes, able to

(10:48):
backhanded back to neutral and then Kukanin ties up Trustcott
for a moment, but Trustcott fought through that and zips
a puck down deep into the Wisconsin zone. Badrews take
it from there. Cody ls stick, candles away from Michael Hage,
goes right to the center circle left wing. Passed for Morrissey,
deflected to the corner. Rayo Mullen goes D to D

(11:09):
to Duke and nearly coughed up. Yeah, Mosley slowed that
play down and allowed Morrissey to get to the biscuit.
But now Michigan wins it back as Duke and his
teammate double teamed Morrissey. Puck sent back Wisconsin's way. Jack
Phalen after it, Evan Warner right on him. Look out,
Carrot ties up, Shiftsky and then Finley took it away,

(11:30):
skates up the center left wing. Morrissey slot pass for
Falen off of stick taken back by Michigan. Shiftsky won
on one with Lodge and good stick by Daniel Lotch
simply took it away puck a stick on puck and
what a great defensive play by Daniel Lodge and now
Falan with it.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
He'll dump it in Schifsky trying to be shifty and
Lotch just stood there, held his ground and just Conley
poke checked it away.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Now penalty coming up on Wisconsin. His headwards cut from
his right to his left, exiting his own zone, and
Sawyer shol got his stick in the skates of Edwards.
Penalty on Sawyer's schol, Michigan gets a power play score
is twelve to fifty left here in the first.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
A little bit of inverse. The last night, when Michigan
was control and play and took a penalty, Wisconsin had
their power play chance. But here now Michigan hasn't seen
much in the offensive zone. Now they got a chance
here to try to get on the board first, even
though it's Wisconsin's had the most of the opportunities.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Shoal for tripping at seven to ten. Michigan this season
on the power play twenty two percent eight for twenty
eight in league play. That's twenty nine percent, but oh
for nine over the last three games, and Wisconsin wins
the defensive zone face off lynn Mark de Horbach, who
clears it all the way down Wolverine's oh for four
on the power play last night. The Badger short scored

(12:46):
a short handed goal as well. Trust Scott with it
hughes with it. He'll fire it back to the Michigan line,
taken there by. Age with speed comes across the Badger line,
moves over to his right, ran into latch in Horrbock.
Now Care over to help out three badgeries against two
wolverines in the Wisconsin zone on the near side wall
right in front of us Paul Way up high near

(13:09):
Paul and I way up high near the ceiling. Here
at Yost Arena badgers. Lindmark tried to clear Good, hustled
Truscott to hold his own left wing. Now it's Evan Warner,
the little right hander, throws it out to the point
in Trustcott refeeds Warner left wing steps to the dot,
finds an openhlls pat saved by Scarphony rebounding plucked it
away all Scarfhoni right knee save on the rebound by

(13:29):
Age Slot Warner his shot off the stick of Care.
Hustling after it near side. Lindmark, able to get position,
tapped it back to Latch, who cleared Tommy Scarfoni excellent
on the penalty kill.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
A couple of big says there by the goaltender and
went from the right and the rebound came across a
little bit of time to get ready. If Michigan fired
it right away and he knocked it side again Nathan.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Edwards on the rush, he falls on his own accord
into the far side wall, but Michigan sets up on
the power play Shifsky Humphreys straightway left handed, Edwards left wing,
now the right handed white Law, White Law ten goals.
Here's shifts Key. His shot blot by Wisconsin ricocheted the
corner in White Law. Twenty seven seconds left on the
Michigan power play, no score, White Law left shot off

(14:12):
the far post, the outside of the far post, White
Law Christian Humphreys now right wing, sends it back to
the point at Edwards. Whitelaw wants it, gets it one
timer kicked out by Scarfoni the stop and now with
it ten seconds to go on the Michigan power play,
they've been in the offensive zone now for thirty seconds.
White Law again left wing open and Whistle won through

(14:33):
the crease off the corner wall and all the way
down that will expire the Michigan power play no score
ten to forty five left both teams at full strength.
Here in the opening period, a heck of the.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Penalty kill there. Tommy Scarfoni doing pretty much all the
work where Wisconsin and Ned Michigan just moving the pucker
around taking shots, and he was there every time.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Obviously, Michigan dumps it in Scarfhony stops it behind his net,
rimsing around off the glass, hit the shelf, took a
weird Rayoe Mullendow to Daskis and he couldn't handle the
pass in the Wisconsin zone and owhen Mellenbacher skates in
the Michigan inn. Mellenbacher on his backhand right wing, slowed,
takes it behind the net, fell down, pitched it in front,

(15:13):
and that's where Rayo Mullendow has it for the Wolverines,
and he'll angle a pass to the near side in
Tyler Duke six ' five shots on goal from Michigan,
but no score. Halfway through the opening period. Lead feeded
center to Ernesty, no icing call. The Badgers go to
get it. The Wolverines make a change. Watch with Hensler's
Shoal Dick and Adam Piedla out right now for the Badgers.

(15:37):
Here's Hensler coughed it up in his own zone. Not
a good play. Jackson hallin spins away from Hensler. Good
recovery though by the Badgers, as both Lodge and Shull
came to help out the freshman defenseman who made the mistake,
but they never got a shot on goal.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
And William Whitelaw was on the fire side kind of
just waiting his time to see the puck pulled out
and never made it as to his way.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Whitelaw crossed the line now on him. Lotch Good stick
on puck again, he can't get a shot off. He
spins a puck out towards the blue line. White Laws
got it again from Trustcott back to Trustcott as one
timer snapped his stick in half. Two Wolverines go down.
Now Hallim and Sholl going at it and the puck
back loose its center. Tyson Dick tried to nudge it
ahead for himself but put it a bit too far.

(16:18):
Scholl trailing took it away from t. J. Hughes. Scholl
had it left wing, fanted a shot, recovered and dumped
it deep off the far wall. It's care He backs
his way into White Law with his buttthoks if you
will and knocked White Law off balance, and Anthony Kerr
continues to control deep in the Michigan zone.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
That's how play is. The every day kind of just
met him around the wing and turned around and knocked
him ower. Basically.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Now, Moseley just got tripped up in the offensive zone.
Nothing called, and Michigan lobs it out to center. Eight
forty left in the first no score. Morrissey left wing
put it towards the net, Corpee paddles into the corner.
Michigan can't clear Moseley out to the point a bit
too far for Dexzheimer took him out of their zone,
so the Badgers have to touch up. They do, and
Morrissey will dump it in trying to hit Mosley on

(17:03):
a pass off the corner wall, but Michigan took it
from there and send it back Wisconsin's way and the
Badgers we'll slow things down back behind their own nets,
or will they. Here's deck Sheimer, right wing shoveled it
ahead to open ice in Michigan will get to the
buck back in its own zone with eight oh eight
left here in the first period, no score. Wisconsin and
Michigan Badgers four nothing winners last night, Wisconsin five to

(17:26):
one and one in its last seven games. Here's a
pass right wing, Shifsky left pat Say right bound off
of Scarfhoni again. Shifsky followed it up in Scarfoni two
pad saves. Long range shot got through. I think it
went off the webbing of Scarfoni's glove. Morrissey protecting in
traffic deep in the Wisconsin zone, taken by Shifsky centering
pass split everybody right down the gut and all the

(17:47):
way back into the Michigan zone, and.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Both teams end up getting changed after that.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Michigan's picked it up a little bit though, here's a
stop and Hensler they were tied up. Ernesty picks up
the loose puck and it threw the low slot out
to the point it comes and Edward shot that was
blocked good hit by Haiti on Wisconsin's bottrel to free
the puck for a stopa and then Lotch cuts off
his progress behind the Wisconsin net and the Badger's able

(18:13):
to lift it out to center. Hunter Haiti is a
physical young man six four to two d two pound
freshman from Rochester, Minnesota, got two two minute miners late
in the game last night. Oh I shut by Ernesty
off the side of Scarfhony. It was loose in front,
but a stop over skated and now Wisconsin's kuchen and
we'll dump it down in Michigan after it. Luca fan

(18:35):
Tilly the defenseman, banks it ahead, misfired on the headman
passed to Tanner, Rowe the Badger's deck, Seimer up ed
to kuchanen able to redirect it deep into the Wolverine zone.
Fitzgerald on the fore check got position as he slowed
down and won the puck free Leskowski trying to dig
it from behind the net. Rayo Mullins got it. Leskowsky
immediately on him. Deck Simer at the blue line put

(18:56):
it towards the net at ricocheted off the leg of
Piedla tries to track it down the corner he's in
there with Dask. As Piedla goes down, Dask has took
the puck away and now Humphrey's for Michigan. Now through
neutralized jump back into the Wisconsin zone. Six point fifteen
to go in the first Badger's nothing, Wolverine's nothing. Ro
just got away with a slash from behind, won the
puck for a moment, but Wisconsin's got it back. Schol

(19:18):
Now at the red line will dump it in and
he leaps past the defenseman, that being Josh Rico, the
former Jamesville Jets Arico did not play last night, and
now Michigan will send it into the Wisconsin zone. Scarfhoni
stops it for Shoals bumps it off the end boards
for his deep partner, Jack Fhalen finds an open Shoal's
left wing up to center in Dick back pedals his

(19:40):
way into open ice. Found Shoal. Now Sawyer will send
it behind the cage. Moseley after it's setting up, Dick
can't get anything off, looked like he could have shot,
and then elected to pitch a little backhander towards the slot.
Never got through Whitelaw. He gets double teamed in Sandwich
by Moseley and Phalen, but the loose puck picked up
by Hughes in the Wisconsin z own Edward's point near

(20:00):
the badger bench. He shovels it around left corner to right,
pinching in Duke to jam it away from Tyson, Dick
to the stick of Shifsky in a no look backhand
shot by Shifsky missed the nets, and now Michigan trying
to make a play in the middle of the ice
for Hage, but that was not free by the Badgers.
Long lead feed for Shipsky, that's icing on Michigan. Badgers

(20:22):
will get an offensive zone face off with five h
five to go in the first no score Wisconsin. Paul
got off to a really good start at an early
power play, was out shooting Michigan at one point. But
now the shots on goal in favor of the Maze
in blue ten to five.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
That was five to two. Badgers took five shots in
the first minute or two and had incredible scoring chances
on the power play and everything, and it looked things
are going pretty well. But again the Michigan power play
a Pepper Scarfoni who was out standing on the pallety
kill and change this complexion of this game.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Right now, face off to the right of corpye one
by Michigan. War Bock battles back, takes it away from
Evan Warner, Morrisey tied up on the new side wall,
Horbock there for support, Finley waiting for it to squirt free. Instead,
it goes to the corner in edwards and he'll roll
it around the kick plate to the far side wall.
Shipsky's got it, tried to clear, unable to do so,

(21:12):
ricocheted Tyler Duke. He skates it out to center and
then threw it to the stick of Daniel Lodge. It's
loose by the badger's bench, now caught up in the
snow along the boards, and that's where Gavin Morrissey takes it.
Number seven. Gavin Morrissey seventeen points as a freshman, shares
the national lead among rookies in points with Michigan's Michael Hage.

(21:33):
Van Tilly now on the rush, cuts off to his
left looking shooting and a stick's a made by Scarfoni.
Following up, Ernesty plays it out to the point, held
in by Hage. Hage will dump it in off the
shelf behind the net. Here's a stop. It try to
wrap around, but care cut him off. Wisconsin's Finley got
knocked down. He wanted a penalty. Nothing called out to
the point. They swing it right side. Truscott shot that

(21:55):
hit his teammate Draper, who goes after it in the corner.
Sets up Ernessey and he whistled wide on Scarfhony and
then out to the point. Fantilli sends it back to
the right corner in draper Michigan moving in the offensive
zone here care able to cancel out his stoppa. The
two still battling behind the net. Daskus steps in front
of Karen takes the puck away point pass for Fantilly

(22:16):
hopped over his stick in back of the Wolverine zone.
That will allow the Badgers to change. They needed it
with three and a half minutes left in the scoreless
first period.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
They had just a lot of time in their own
end here doing a pretty good job. Though Michigan has
like those high face off circle passes up there and
one timers and right Scarfhoni has been very aware and
looking for that, and it hasn't been too dangerous yet.
They've been hitting a lot of bodies again like they
did last night.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
In the first period, Valen passed it, sent her intercepted
by a row and then poked ahead by dask As.
Humphreys tries to read feed dask Its didn't get through,
and then a point shot by Raya Mullen missed a
net Tyler duke down the right wing wall finds Mullet
again straight away sets and fires missed the net again.
Looked like he had space on Scarfhoni's blocker side, but
Rayome Mullen was off the mark and old Rayome's son

(23:04):
Rayol Mullen, long range shot far side that went off
a shin pad, kicked out to Kuchanan up ahead. Fitzgerald
a little bit too fary, otherwise he had a breakaway
still caught up to it in the backhand. Shovels shot
off the left pad of Corpy Michigan on the attack again,
although in the midst of a change and Humphreys will
whistle it around to the far side and bottl off
his stick back to latch. Fitzgerald has such great speed

(23:26):
he caught up to that puck and had a chance
Incorpie just the six to four body.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
He just hugged the posts, covered up as much as
he could, just let the shot hit him.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Fitzgerald's two goals six points in the last six games
for Fitzie. He's been coming on of late open man
far side. Edwards wanted to shoot, Fitzgerald got in his
way and then poked the puck off his stick, lead
feed for Leskowsky just out of his reach and sauce
back into the Wisconsin zone. Should be icing and the
freshman Haiti made a mistake and Wisconsin will get an

(23:54):
offensive zone face off. With two h six left in
the first we have no score and we've yet to
take our media time.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
Out today's two icings since the ten minute mark. I
think it is the only two whistles so far that
last one. Michigan has just been that Badgers has just
been happy to get the puck out of the defensive zone,
and Michigan's there to put it back in each time.
And this will be a nice breathere. Wisconsin love to
win this face off and maybe get some offensive time.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Wisconsin's won eight of nine face offs tonight. Morrissey to
take the draw off, Finley behind him, and there goes
Michigan winning the face off, and they'll pump it out
to center in white law protecting at the red line,
passing tender for Hughes, intercepted by care nudged it ahead
for Findley on the attack right wing on his backhand,
pulls back in the corner, immediately defended there by Haiti,

(24:43):
and then Mosley ran into the referee barry puck marag
out of the way and the Badgers have to go
back into their own end. Mike Hastings and his staff
have kind of mixed things up here a little bit.
Although Finley, Morrissey and Mosley back out there together at
the same time.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
Some of it is there's just been some much changing
on the fly. It's just who ends up out there
during the line changes.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
Right now, Falan's with Shoals defensively. It's been Schulz in
Detzheimer for the most part. And oh, here's a given,
goes Shipsky and Warner didn't connect. It bounced right over
his stick right near the Badger's cage. Phalan ties up
Warner and it pops free. Piedle has got it to Shoals,
who skated up to center. Fights through the stick. Check
of page and it looks like Wisconsin, is it yep?

(25:24):
An accidentalizing by Zach Schultz. With one ten to go
in the opening period, still no score Badgers. Tommy Scarfhoni
takes a drink from his water bottle, puts it back
in the position behind the net, puts his glove back
on and gets himself prepared for this face off which
will be to his rights.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
And lots of pressure again by Michigan, even in the
neutral cellone air force that icing, it's getting hounded from
the side and behind. Try to make a pass up
and just sadder each.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
Marcus stopping to take the draw. They win it shot
by draper right into the kneeling Scarfhony who makes to
stop and hangs on one seven ago on the first
Wisconsin and Michigan, no score will take a one minute break.
This is badger hockey from Mirfield.

No score one oh seven to go in the first period,

(27:38):
thirteen to six shots on goal in favor of the
Maze and Blue, and Wisconsin just iced it a moment
ago and so a face off to come to the
right of Tommy Scarfoni. It'll be Lindmark to take that draw.
He's out there right now with Rylan Moseley, Cody Liskowski,
Beggar pardon, Daniel Lodge Luskowski, Fitzgerald in care man. Lind

(28:01):
Mark leans into a stop of puck still loose and
the circle and Daniel Lodnch pulls it away. Boy you
really liked the way he played last night, didn't you.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
I did, And he's continuing that tonight with some of
the plays he's just calmly made. On defense, He's just
such a calming influence.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
Patch up the middle of the ice, good back pressure
by Christian Fitzgerald to whack it away from a stoppa
puck loose of the Badger line, care able to get
it off to Lynn Mark. Now Loskowsky scoops at at
Fitzgerald got behind the defense, but they say off side
on Christian Fitzgerald. Boy, he was battling to get space.
Just a tad off side forty one point four seconds
left here in the first no store.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
That's been a Badger offense since that first flurry of
this game. Is just the long passes. We saw Fitzgerald
earlier have a near attempt that the puck just out
of his reach. He caught up to it, but not
quite what he wanted. Here again right at the blue line,
puck in the lead pass, but couldn't keep his feet
on the other side of the blue line or.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
Is he Moseley and Kouchen in out there now for Wisconsin.
He won the draw. Shoals gains the red line and
sends it around to the right corner of the Michigan zone.
A half minute to go in the opening period, Kukan
in able to kick it free. Moseley blind passed from
the corner to the right circle. No one on Earth
for Wisconsin, and now the Wolverines had it. Van Tilly
Headman's dissenter stolen by kukanin off to Morrissey, pitched it

(29:19):
ahead to Mosey. Moseley bumps it off the left wing wall.
Morrissey knocked off balance, knocked down by Truscott, who takes
the puck away. Ten seconds to go on the period,
here's Shipsky who turns to his left and heads into
the Wisconsin zone, slowed by Deck Sheimer. Four seconds left
in front all Scarfoni a grand save on Evan Warner
to end the opening period. Wow, Shifsky with a heck

(29:43):
of a play to dump and chase, and Werner went
right down the slot. Paul and Scarfoni read the play
and made a remarkable stop to keep it scoreless after
twenty minutes.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
Unbelievable. I mean, that's if you're in Michigan. You haven't
scored in three games, like you're looking after the heavens
right now and going what the hell that we have
to do? Tommy Scarfoni on the doorstep. I think there
was two Michigan players in front, just the one timer there,
little risk shop off the glove and Scarfooni ended up
on the net, got pushed in. I think after he
was having a little discussion with the referee after the play.
But my gosh, what a what a save there to

(30:16):
get the Badgers to the first intermission without a goal against.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
No score was consint an Michigan after one period of play.

After one period at Yostena and ann Arbor, Wisconsin, nothing
Michigan nothing. Fourteen shots on goal of the opening period
for the Wolverines and Tommy Scarfoni stop them all bets
now two hundred and thirty five minutes and thirty eight
seconds without a goal for the Michigan Wolverines. But voy
Scarfoni was fantastic in that period.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
That I'd say the two goaltenders were the stars of
the show. Scarfoni was amazing the first the power play
that Michigan had I don't remember how many, had three, four,
five saves maybe on that one, and many of them outstanding.
And then it's hard to forget the one that just
happened right at the end of that period or in
the doorstep with a clock running down right at the buzzer,
Scarfoni spread out his glove and pad, left pad on

(32:30):
the side and just a dead save on Evan Werner
right in front of the net. And Baggers cut out
of this period with nothing against them. Even though the
first five shots minute, two minute or two minutes was
all Wisconsin, it looked like they could have been up
five to nothing.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
Yeah four Crazy failed to score only six shots on
goal in that period. Cameron Corpi stopped them all. Wisconsin
won nine of thirteen face offs and blocked six of
eight shots, much like last night, getting away the way
of pucks, and you know, it took a while for
wis the fight it's aim last night. Maybe that'll be
the case again tonight, because the second period last night
was really good for Wisconsin.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
It was really good. They got the power play goal
and got the lead. Scarfooni was good in the first
Scarfooni was great in this first period and getting the
letting the Badgers get their legs out into them and hopefully,
like you mentioned, second period, would love to see a
couple of goals and get the batterers back in the lead.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
All right. Time for the American Family Insurance first intermission
report that's coming up. It's scoreless after one here in
ann Arbor. This is Badger hockey from Miarfield.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Badger Hockey is brought to you by American Family Insurance Insure. Carefully, dream, fearlessly,
and by a lion energy. A liant energy is powering
beyond for you. It's time to drop the puck for
the second period.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Bryan Posik, Paul kevil bianco at Yoskarna and ann Arbor
Owen Lindmark to take the second period face off. He's
now seven per seven in the face off circle and
the Badgers have the puck possession in the offensive zone
and dump it down to our right. Lind Mark back
behind the net for Mellenbacher, tied up by the defenseman Draper.
Here's horback. Now low right gets some open space and

(34:09):
tried to go under the blocker of the goltender who
stopped it, and then horback wiped them out, and now
Ernest he piling on Horpoch and the referees need to
get in there. Lind Mark tied up by a stoppa.
Now Edwards comes over and hog ties lind Mark, who's
laughing in the process. Degzheimer and Earnesty need to be separated.

(34:35):
And Horback's gonna get the gate. Oh, he made a
nice play to free himself low right Paul and almost
beat Corpie under the right arm. But then he followed
up with Corpy having possession of the puck, and knocked
the goaltender into the cage, slashing on Horbock. Michigan gets
a power play nineteen seconds into the second period.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
I just found up his own shot there. I got
a little stick into the legs of the tenor. It's
interesting because we saw right at the end of the
period before that Scarfoni get knocked into the goal, and
actually when Lenmark was standing on the side of the
net and Edwards took him out as Horback went around,
but not as dramatic has taken out the goaltender. So
Wisconsin has to kill it early. Heldy here last night.

(35:18):
That actually turned out pretty good for Wisconsin again. I
keep finding myself comparing everything the last night. But it
was a shorty last night that Laskowski scored early in
the second that got the Badger's role.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
And Badgers went four for four on the p K
last night. Allowed only four shots on goal in eight
minutes in the first power playing Michigan had tonight five
shots on goal. But Scarfoni was beautiful and now Loskowski
steals feeds Morris. He won on one with Trustcott shorthanded,
skated into the Michigan zone and got tied up, but
he was able to kick it free in Maleskowski recognized

(35:49):
the play, went and picked up the loose puck and
wasted some more time and now Michigan with it up
to center ice. It comes ninety seconds left. The power
played for the Wolf imreens Hage just overskated. Michael Hage
has some talent first round draft pick the Montreal Canadians,
former member of the Chicago Steal third in the league
in points a year ago with seventy five with a

(36:12):
steal out to the point TJ. Hughes behind the net.
Now Hallum power play continues for seventy seconds Michigan in Wisconsin.
Score is early second low right stick candling with it
as Werner finds an open man right wing Hage centerpoint
trustcott right dot age. He shoots and stop by Scarfhony.
Rebound was there for a moment, but Tommy pounced on

(36:33):
it and covered fifty eight seconds left in the Michigan
power play, no score early second period. Boy, the Badgers
really need to keep Michigan from penetrating into the zone.
A lot of Michigan's fourteen shots on goal in that
opening period were in the dangerous scoring area.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
Yeah, between the dots and to the goal. This time,
Hages skated in, got to the dot to the left
of Scarfhoni and I shot. I think we're deflected off
the Badger that was defending the play and Scarfhoni incomposition
puck just dropped down to his pads and he made
the save and cover the rebound.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Morrissy and Leskowski on the penalty kill ride now along
with Shoals and Falen and Michigan able to win the
puck out to the point in Edwards snaps off of
pass cross eye for Whitelaw walks down the wall left
wing the right handed white law to the goal line.
He goes back out to the point in Edwards swings
it right side. Here's Humphreys puts it down low shot
for below the goal line, a stop by Scarfoni. The

(37:28):
rebound was there in a stoppa lifted it up and
out of play. May have gone off a Badger stick.
They're going to try to score from behind the goal line.
If they can't score from in the offensive zone above
the goal line, why not just shoot from behind the
goal line.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
I guess a lot of averages at some player of
the puck's going to bounce in for them, hopefully next
week for our next series for Michigan. But I do
think a Badger got their stick on that shot a
tenth and Badger's try to get a base off when
to get the puck out.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Wolverine's next game is at the Frozen Confines in Chicago
again Ohio State on January third. Face off rolls to
the Badger's goal mouth, and that's where Scarfoni, on his
knees covers in another draw to come thirty five seconds
left with the Michigan power play. We're a minute forty
four into the second no score, seventeen to seven shots
on goal in favor of the maze in blue and

(38:17):
Michigan wins the face off. Edwards right wing, Humphreys cross ice,
white Law back straightaway Edwards, white Law left wing looking
Edwards pressured by Shoal back right side Humphreys, Lynn mark
on him. Edwards slow moving past left wing to white Law.
Care comes out on him a little bit. Fifteen seconds
to go in the power play, Edwards one time shot redirect,
Scotney stopped it in at ricochet to the corner where

(38:40):
that went off something and Tommy still got it. Now
it's to Humphrey's five seconds left of the power play.
Edwards Humphreys wide open slot pass, came through left wing.
White Law cuts to his right, back to his left
on his backhand, no shot. Badgers back at full strength.
Edwards walks down the wall again, passed behind the net
and tended for White Law bounced over his stick, the
Badgeries able to jam it out to center. Horback comes

(39:01):
out of the box and chips it to center and
the Badgers will get a change no score. Seventeen to
twenty five left in the second period.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
The first pair of the Michigan power play, they were
pepper and taking shots, moving the puck around that one.
They got a little stale. Badgers did a great job
blocking the passing lanes across the ice, which Michigan likes
to go those spec cross ices.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
Al Finley found Moseley in a backhand shot in tight
stop by Corpy out to the point. Dex Sheimer's shot
off a shin pad back out to the blue line,
played by Ernesty off the glass. Dex Sheimer knocked it
down with a high stick, but then Michigan touched it,
and then the Badgers got possession, and they're on the attack.
Shoals will fire it in off the corner wall. Corpie
stops it and looks and rims it around right to

(39:43):
Wisconsin's Fitzgerald right point. Dex Sheimer cut left back right,
Fitzgerald giveing go a no to the slot Finley, Dexheimer
and Finley in the same vicinity. The fuck never was
played cleanly, and now here's Ernesty fresh off the bench.
Henzler meets him. Ernesty hard to the net, never got
a shot off. Hensler with an eye job defensively to
tie him up.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
Pinser came in with a stick leading a little swape
I think made Ernesty loose possession of the pocket.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
Can regain.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
It's kind of in his feet as he spun around.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
Finley tried to dig it free in the Wisconsin zone
and does can't clear Hallim bumps it off the wall.
Ernesty slot pass for Hughes, he was cut off by Dexzheimer.
Hughes goes to get the puck in the left wing
and then Clabbert Hughes along the near side wall. Hughes
remains on his knees. The fans here wanted a penalty
nothing call, and then Hensler patiently Headman's to Finley and

(40:30):
he'll scoop it into the attacking zone and Wisconsin will change.
Four minutes into the second still no score here at
Yost Arena. My stick handling move by TJ. Hughes. They're
offside though, fifteen fifty one to go here in period
number two, we have no score. Minards is a proud
sponsor a Badger Athletics and reminds everyone to save big
money on all your home improvement needs at Minards, how

(40:54):
does Wisconsin get its offense going here? A little bit?

Speaker 4 (40:58):
Yeah, they're just kind of being patient right now. I
feel like, obviously Scarf, they've relied a lot on Scarfoni.
They've obviously it zero on the scoreboard here. They've killed
penalty's a couple of times. They've not given up a
ton here lately, and just kind of buying their time.
It seems like.

Speaker 3 (41:16):
Wisconsin dumps it in. Corpy will rim it around to
the near side. Hage can't clear, held in by Morrissey
to the corner. He goes in kuchenin He's double team,
but passed down to the corner again in Leskowsky rims
it all the way around to the pinching Phalan who
turned it over to Trustcott, and then he fires the
puck accidentally up into the crowd. The student section looks
like everybody's okay, and one happy young lady shows off

(41:39):
the puck and her fellow classmates appalter. Now she's on
the jumbo dronk.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
It's the quickest one out of our seat. I think
it bounced off the glass on the vomitory there, and
I just landed right next to her.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Schol and Dick and Piedle out for Wisconsin all his
own face off, but Michigan won the draw, bumped it
to center. Badgers take it there and deck Sheimer throws
into the corner, long ford check for Piedlea and shoal Michigan,
plenty of time they headman, but actually a bad pass
by Aurico slot passed to Dick as Wisconsin forced the turnover,
but that was canceled out and now back out to neutral.

(42:18):
Good stick by deck Sheimer to poke it away from
the forward Shifski of Michigan, and then a lead feed
by Arico all the way down into the Wisconsin zone.
It must have gone off the mesh, I think as
they had dumped it in the zone. Whistle blue, and
were they going to drop the puck?

Speaker 4 (42:34):
I think one of the Badgers right outside the Michigan
in front of the bench got a stick on it
and deflect it up. Now exactly sure where it hit,
but it looked like went out of play for a
little bit. Like we said that.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Probably the netting, you know, Barry Pakmar the referee didn't
see it. Sawyer Schul put his hand up. But they're
going to drop it outside the Wisconsin line. Lynn Mark
Melenbacher Horbach on the ice for the Badgers, along with
Latching Henzler. Five minutes gone by second period, Badgers have
managed only eight shots on goal, but if yet to
give up a goal. We're scoreless. Mellenbacher hustling after it

(43:04):
in the offensive zone against Rayoum Mullen and got the
angle in, won the puck, bumped it to Laches shot
deflected by Horbock high to the corner. It goes after it,
lynn Mark tied up by Duke he wanted Freda Hensler
stops and shoots. That's off the stick of Mellenbacher behind
the nets, try to reach it lynn Mark instead. The
defenseman picked it up and banked it out to the
near wall, but not out. Owen's got it again, passed

(43:26):
back to the left wing, didn't reach Horback intercepted by Draper,
and then his pass for Ernesy deflected by care down
to the Wisconsin zone. Fourteen to fifteen left in the
second Wisconsin and Michigan Badger's trying to sweep here. For
the first time since nineteen seventy nine, we have no score.
Finley dumps and chases, Moseley try to jam it free

(43:47):
and us. Moseley's got it left corner out to the
point in faland Raefien's Moseley slop pass for Morrissey off
the stick of Thomas Daskas and back through neutral ice.
Finley was ready for it, and now the puck slides
through the high slot of the Wisconsin zone. Michigan sends
it around to the right wing. Finley knife sit the puck,

(44:07):
Morrissey can't reach it and it ricochets in front of
the Badger's net and Scarfhony watching clearly. Oh, here's a
backhandshot picked up by white Law and missed the net.
But that puck bounced right in front of the badgery net.
Scarfhony just moved it along and now pass intended for
Edwards to the left point. Wisconsin's Moseley able to poke
it free back out to center. Michigan has to touch

(44:29):
up and does right wing pass to Hughes on him.
Morrissey long range shot that missed the net off the
corner wall that held in by the Wolverines. Hughes behind
the net couldn't handle the bouncing puck. Morrissey and Whitelaw engage.
Now Finley with it pressure to make a play and
got it ahead to Morrissey. Gavin fans off to his left,
Edward's on him, Morrissey no place to shoot or pass,
and then got taken right into the far side wall.

(44:52):
He's okay, though, clean play by Edwards, who freed the
puck for his teammate Trustcott. Oh, what a dangerous play
by Trustcott, recognizing that Kyle Kuchanen was right in the vicinity.
And now here's Jackson Hallum with it. Hallum left handed forward,
all kinds of speed across the line. Whitelaw sends it
back behind the net, too far for Hallum. Taken by

(45:12):
Wisconsin's deck Seimer. Kuchanon battling through stick checks in a
huge two hand whack by Hughes. No pedalty, Wisconsin's got
the puck again. Michigan's had two power plays tonight. Wisconsin
only won no score twelve twenty five to go. In
period number two, Badger's dumping in.

Speaker 4 (45:29):
I mean, if you're a Michigan fan, you gotta love
the way they're playing. It's so much pressure. Yeah, Badger's
having a hard time and their own zone getting out.
They're having a hard time in the offensive zone set
and handing.

Speaker 3 (45:38):
Up Shifsky fell down on his own. The student section
wanted a penalty on bottle Roll, but he fell on
his own. Here's Hensler now walking in top of the
right circle, shot one in front. Fitzgerald trying to jam
it free and it's loose, and on top of it
the goldtender Corpie and he covers Pencler trying to get
it through traffic. I'm not sure if it got to
the gold tender. Fitzgerald was looking down for the loose

(45:58):
pluck and then Corpy saw it first and got on
top of him.

Speaker 4 (46:01):
Yeah, badges are set up really well there with Fitzgerald
and front and Hensler got the pucked through to Fitzgerald,
but instead of his stick, and I think it hit
his left skate and just kind of died there, a
little redirection off the skate. He was looking for a stick.
It just didn't hit the right spot. And that's probably
that was the best chance of Wisconsin in a long
long time.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Remember, Fitzgerald had the overtime game winner here at Michigan
last January in a wild six ' five victory offensive
zone face off. Wisconsin lost it. But now the Badger's
control out at center. Pencler will go d to d
up the ice. Shoal got his stick on it, directed
it into the Michigan end. Shoal goes down. No penalty call,

(46:42):
Wolverine's wrapping around to stop a can clear turn around
shot off the stick of Leskowsky to the far corner.
Wisconsin nothing, Michigan nothing, who's gonna get on the board here?
First to stop at a draper right hander skates to
center and then ran into Shoal who put it back
to the Michigan line, gathered in there by Fan Tilly,
and now the puck slides free into the Wisconsin zone.

(47:04):
Ncler in pursuit. He's got possession of it. With eleven
twenty to go. On the second long stretch, pass intended
for horback read by Edwards and then Horbock slashed at
his skates, Edwards fell down, Horbock lost his stick. Jack
took a peek at the referee Nicholas Beth, thinking maybe
he's gonna get called for a pedal He nothing was called,
no harm, no foul. I supposed loose puck out near

(47:25):
the Wisconsin line and Mellenbacher can't clear and no hand
pass called on Michigan. Eleven oh two left here in
the second still no score. Badger Hockey brought to you

Speaker 4 (47:46):
Talked about Mikan Michigan's pressure, and we've talked about last
night too. This is the amount of stick work they'd use.
This last play with failing going back just kind of
got a stick up underneath, made it really difficult to
make a play on the play. Nhlum, they'll probably be
on the box NonStop in this game.

Speaker 3 (48:05):
International hockey too. Why the Big Ten allows as much
stick work as it allows and its conference play is
beyond me. You want scoring chances, don't you. You don't
want guys getting hacked and whacked on their hands and
wrists and unable to handle the puckers shoot the puck.
And now the Badger's on a four check and the
goal came out, well, it kind of fell back on

(48:28):
top of the blue paint and captured Cameron Corpi for
a moment, but the goaltenders out there was some pushing
and shoving behind the play, and then the goal just
kind of fell on top of the Michigan net miner
and all's good. Let's pause ten seconds for station identification,
ten seconds for a legal ID. You're listening to Wisconsin
Badger hockey Bryan Posik and Paul capel Bianco at Yost

(48:50):
Arena and ann Arbor Wisconsin of four nothing win last night.
Tonight scoreless, ten forty four left in the second period,
dex Sheimer jumps it in for the Badgers on the
four check. Fitzgerald try to kick it to his stick,
but he was tied up by Rayo Mullen and now
Hallam cuts to his right nexits his zone. Tyler Duke

(49:11):
takes a hit from Fitzgerald but dumps it in. Deck
Zheimer beat Hallam to the puck. Hallim battles back and
wins it back. TJ hughes to the point and Rayo
Mullen shot blocked by Kuchanon. The Badger Shuls tried to
rive it around it out went off a stick and
Wisconsin's Fitzgerald was tackled. Otherwise he would add a break.
Delayed pedalty. Botteral comes in just one low Corpie saved

(49:31):
right back to Bottrel behind the net, centering passed back
toward to Kukanin couldn't reach it. Delayed penalty on Michigan
Badgers have the puck finley with it left wing. Morrissey
back out to the point threw it too far, well
out of the reach of Lotch Badger's back to get it,
but they've added an extra attacker with a delayed penalty
coming up. Halfway through this game here in Michigan. No score,

(49:52):
but the Badgers are going to get a power play
here in a moment unless they can convert on a
six on five and watch just misread the play and
turned it over with So blows in Wisconsin will get
a cut as power play when we come back. No score,
nine forty two left in the second. This is Badger
hockey from lear Field.

Speaker 6 (50:09):
Badgers are born brave. They're not afraid to face a
tough opponent or take on the impossible. At UW Health
Carbone Cancer Center, our team of doctors take on cancer
with that same badger stamina. Where others step back, we
step up, researching, treating, and defeating even the most complex cancers,
making us the only NCI designated comprehensive cancer center in

(50:29):
the state. So now, from stadium to hospital, you can
count on Wisconsin and UW Health to fight and win.
UW Health Carbone Cancer Center remarkable.

Speaker 3 (51:19):
Number one Minnesota, Number three Michigan State Spartans of rallied
from a three to one third period deficit and lead
the Gophers four to three. Meanwhile, here Wisconsin and a
Frank Michigan scoreless but a two minute minor. On Michigan,
it's on the defenseman Tyler Duke for holding and so

(51:40):
the Badgers get a Cunis power play at the ten
eighteen mark of the second period, looking for the first
goal of the game.

Speaker 4 (51:47):
We've talked not too long ago about how the Badgers
looked for some offense.

Speaker 3 (51:50):
Well, this is one way Badger's habit. Here's Finley backpedaling
top of the right ring. It's deck Sheimer back to
Finley at the hash marks quinn sausage back to dex Sheimer.
Couldn't handle the pass of the blue line and it
rolls back into the Wisconsin zone. Finley was getting pressured
a bit. He's so good with the puck, and that
time he tried to sauce it looked like it took
two bounces towards dex Sheimer's stick and he just couldn't

(52:11):
handle it. Badgers have it on the offense if attack
and mostly steps off the shot that Corpi stuck with
his right shoulder puck. Cricochet's free, Haiti pitched it back
behind the net. Morrissey's got an angle on Trustcott and
frees the puck for Moseley point past the Liskowski back
pedaling with it now dex Sheimer left wing, refeeds Liskowsky
center point. Morrissey top of the right circle, looks cross

(52:32):
ice boy. That was a lot of mustard on that pass.
Finley settles it down off the walls, Slot passed him
Moseley straightaway, deck Szeimer back left wing. Finley Badger's on
a power play for another sixty five seconds. Leskowsky passed
him Mosey it went off the stick. Mosley then turned
and back handed the bouncing puck towards Morrissey, but it
eluded him and trust God got it and set it down.

(52:53):
Badgers will change their power play on it. Still fifty
four seconds left in the man advantage a good again.

Speaker 4 (52:59):
Michigan causing some pressure on Wisconsin and the offensive zone
and could see where the Badger's trying to get the
puck across a couple times, but nobody there.

Speaker 3 (53:08):
Padrews hold his own here as Michigan failed to clear.
Tyson Dick shoots one as lind Mark cut in front
of the Michigan net and Corpi calmly gloved it and
hung on. Eight twenty to go in the second no score,
Badger's power play continues for another thirty eight seconds unless
they score.

Speaker 4 (53:24):
I like that decision by Tyson deck Badgers again just
holding a lot of possession. Get put some pucks on
the net. We saw the earl first power play Michigan
had get pucks around the net. On these power plays.
It's not working keeping it on the outside, So see
if you can create something by putting it towards the goaltender.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
Badgers win the face off fitz Gerald open right circle
and missed the top left corner. He hit the glass
behind the nets. Ooh. Gerald has to hustle back into
his own zone to get it, shipsky on him. He'll
bounce it back to the near wall and Tensler will
pick it up. Ed Man's to Lynn, Mark redirects into
the attacking zone fantill he gets there from Michigan, loops

(54:00):
it quickly to the near side and edwards and he clears.
Maybe one last rush for the Badgers on this power
play ten seconds left, seven to fifty to go, second period.
Wisconsin and Michigan have yet to score tonight, and now
Scarfoni counts down the power play clock with his stick.
It has expired, and so Michigan two for two on
the PK. So it's Wisconsin Badgers called for icing at

(54:23):
the seven point thirty nine left in period A number
two h.

Speaker 4 (54:30):
And when I miss a pass there, if Michigan gets
the penalty, kill yeah, get the puck out and given
the opportunity here to get right on the back on
the horse. They've been pretty good this game again, except
for like the first two minutes of it. Right, it's
just so much pressure Scarfhoni has been up to the
task a little bit quieter this period, thankfully, and.

Speaker 3 (54:50):
Michigan five shots on goal in this second period after
fourteen in the first Wolverines win the draw. Ray O
Mullen so pull shot one proved traffic Starfoni. The shutout
streak is over Michigan on the board as the defenseman Dakota.
Rayo Mullen scores his first collegiate goal.

Speaker 4 (55:11):
Yeah, right off the face off. Michigan wins it back
pretty cleanly to the defenseman to the right of the
faceoff dot Scarfoni just in its position, went down, try
to cover the net with a shot. I don't know
that he got a great look at it, but went
over his left shoulder. And Michigan gets their first goal
in a long long time.

Speaker 3 (55:30):
Rayal Mullen from TJ. Hughes at twelve twenty six, a
one nothing Michigan lead.

Speaker 4 (55:40):
I'll see if this changes how this game is played.
Michigan gets momentum oar Wisconsin. Try to open up a
little bit, try to create a little more offense. They
haven't had much.

Speaker 3 (55:54):
Two hundred and thirty eight minutes and four seconds without
a goal. Michigan went until Rayo Mullen finds the back
of the night. At twelve twenty six, thirty two years ago. Yesterday,
Rayom Mullen's mom became the first woman to play a
professional regular season hockey game with the International Hockey Leagues
Atlanta Knights. They lost to the Salt Lake Golden Eagles

(56:18):
four to one. And here Rayom Mullens scores his first
collegiate goal against the Wisconsin Badgers one nothing Michigan. Here's
Hallam with the puck in the Wisconsin zone. Lotch on him,
Mann a man point pass, Van Tilly skates of the
high slot, shot one blocked by the kneeling Horbach and
at ricochetted out the center.

Speaker 4 (56:34):
I was a three on two by Michigan and Loatch
just doing what he does, spread his wings out, put
his stick by Hollim and eventually just poked it away.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
Ellen Baker dumps it in for Wisconsin. Haiti. After it
settles things down, outlet pass off the stick of Hage
almost intercepted by Mosley and now Warner forced back into
the Wisconsin zone. Evan Warner played his freshman year at
Colorado College six goals and nineteen points. He's on the
attack here hard to the net, never got a shot

(57:04):
off and almost collided with Tommy Scarfoni Badgers take it away.
Warner's got as many goals. Here is a Wolverine as
a saltpoor as he had as a freshman with the Tigers.
Here's Finley now with a steel pass to the left wing.
Dex Shimer with a two on one with Moseley, snaps
a shot off and Corpy stopped it, putting his right
wing into his chest and gave up no rebound. Dex

(57:26):
Shimer had two options there.

Speaker 4 (57:27):
Paul had two on one and his teammate on the
far side. He elected to take a shot. Michigan defender
went down pretty good and stopped the pass across and
Moseley on the far side. And Corpy is so baked
six ' four. He goes down to his knees. He's
still covered up, his still head still above the bar
by a BT.

Speaker 3 (57:47):
Cameron Corpie from South Lyon, Michigan, born and bred Wolverine,
if you will. He played Triple A hockey with Little
Caesars and Honey Baked. He had junior hockey in tri City,
but he's back in the state of Michigan and right now.
He's blanking the Badgers. With about six minutes to go
in the second period, big collision in the Michigan zone

(58:08):
between Wisconsin's Fitzgerald and the Wolverines. Estopa and Michigan's got
the puck. Duke carried into the end boards by Kuchanon
able to release a pass to a Stoppa, but it
hit the referee. Badger's hole. Turnaround shot, Couchanon hit Fitzgerald
now left wing shot turnaround, a quick no looker by Fitzgerald,
and Corpy out high in his crease, made that stop

(58:30):
and gave up no rebound. It seems every puck that
hits the six foot four inch Corpye is just disappearing.

Speaker 4 (58:37):
I'm gonna say every puck that comes near Fitzgerald seems
to be a magnet on his shoe. I saw earlierf
that this time a shot towards the net find say
a high slot in Corpie. Again, he's so big, he
just kind of is up top of his crease, goes
down in a little butterfly and covers up a lot
of the net just by not moving.

Speaker 3 (58:58):
Face off to his right shoal Piedla battling for it
still loose, Shoal got knocked down by Haiti, who seems
to love to hit anything in red, whether it's legal
or not. In that time, he just wiped out Shoal
and the Wolverine sent it back into the Wisconsin zone.
Shots on goal a little bit closer now twenty to fifteen,
but Michigan with a long goal tonight. The defenseman Rayo

(59:21):
Mullen through traffic. Fan Tilly now shoots one blocker save
ade by Scarfoni to the corner. It goes Wisconsin. Shoal
giving chase and Whitelaw tried to lift his stick and
take it away, but Sawyer a bit stronger, won that
battle and Badris sent it out to center Luca. Fan
Tilly now left handed defenseman center ice to Humphreyes taps
back to Haiti. He didn't gain the red line, sends

(59:43):
it into the Wisconsin zone. Should be icing wasn't called.
Maybe it went off a stick. Badrews tried to break out,
but Henzler turned it over and then from long range
row through a wild shot that went off his stick
into the mesh, stopping play. Four forty four left second period,
won nothing Michigan.

Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
You know, thinking back on the offensive end again, Corpie
just kind of sits in his spot and looks for
the shot to hit him. Batters haven't had really a
chance to try to make him move much at all.
It's getting their shots from the outsides and wherever they can.
And the last two on one chance again dex Sheimer
had option put the puck on net, but you're gonna

(01:00:20):
have to maybe make this guy move to the side
to be able to beat him.

Speaker 3 (01:00:23):
Base off one in the defensive zone by Wisconsin, Mike
Hastings and Nick Oliver were just having a discussion on
the Badger's bench about something. We'll see if maybe a
line combination changes. Horbock wipes out. He's sitting on the
ice with a puck underneath him. Now he's on his
knees trying to get up. His Duke cross checks him
down again and then Lynn Mark knocks Duke down. The
puck is free and Horbock's got it fighting through Rayo

(01:00:47):
Mullen's physicality, but the Wolverines come out of there with it.
Duke up ahead of the blue line. They were offside.
Big crushing hit by Caro on Tyler Duke, but the
Wolverines have the puck cage to the point in Edwards
tried to walk the line, got pressured and the puck
slides out to center ice h Nope, still on side
his Michigan didn't come across the line, and now here's

(01:01:08):
care with no one noticing, he just slides in and
picks up the loose biscuit, gains the red line, battling
though in the near side Edwards who'd cut him off,
and that forced a turnover and Michigan's got it with
three forty five left in the second one nothing Michigan.

Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
How was a highlight reel hit by Anthony Kerro. We're
gonna have to put that at one up later.

Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
All stop his skates into the Wisconsin zone to our left.
Dex Shim are able to win it free to Morrissey.
He can't head manned the moseley held in by Michigan.
Keenan Draper now with it, dumps it back behind the nets,
shoals in one of the Wolverines going at it. That's
a stoppa. Zach got knocked down back on his skates,
able to get it over to the corner and then

(01:01:48):
Draper is sitting on one of the badgers in the
Wisconsin zone and a whistle stops play. The three point
fourteen left in the second period, Christin Fitzgerald's got knocked
down by Draper, and then Draper just used him as
a chair for a little while.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
You don't see too many whistles anymore with pucks along
the boards, but that was probably a good decision by
the officials.

Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
Yeah, it looked like Draper.

Speaker 4 (01:02:10):
He might even had a stick underneath Fitzgerald, so unless
he let go of it, nobody was going anywhere.

Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
Keenan Draper's dad, of course, a multi Stanley Cup champion
with the Detroit Red Wings, and Draper himself was drafted
by the Red Wings a seventh round draft choice back
in twenty twenty. Face off to the left of scar Phoning.
He's giving up one goal this weekend, and that was
a shot by the defenseman Rayal Mullen. Here in this period,

(01:02:39):
Badgers win the draw. Finley passed off the skate of Dick,
but retrieves near side pass across settled by Deck. Zheimer
looks to shoot instead, Key Dick will put in front
and there was Shul trying to help it along. A
slow moving shot by Dick, but Corpy there able to
make the stop. There was no rebound to be had.

Speaker 4 (01:02:58):
Dick didn't really get everything on that I wasn't right
where he needed it for the shot. But Sariah Schohl
is in actually a pretty good position if he gets
the reader act for the right way. Could flip find
itself over the left pad of the goaltender, but might
have been a little too close in and Corpy in
the place.

Speaker 7 (01:03:14):
And.

Speaker 4 (01:03:15):
Badger's get another puck on the net, which it's always
a good thing.

Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Shoul with an assist last night had a goal in
this building last season. Lynn Mark's out there now with
the Liskowski and kukanen launch and anslers, so Badger's coaching
staff mixing things up a little bit. Linn Mark wins
the draw. Hnzler at the blue line fires it across
the Lotch trying to work for position. Lynn Mark bouncing
puck turn around, shot by Kuchan and kept out by Corpi.

(01:03:41):
Lotch has it down the left wing. Whitelaw wipes out
Latch open looking for an open man, he finds Liskowsky
battling back, though was White law preventing Leskowsky from shooting
the puck. Hallim takes it away, Michigan ahead, they'll dump
it down into the corner. First man there is Wisconsin's Kuchanan.
He reverses course to latch and here comes Lynn Mark.
Now Lotch just got tackled behind the Wisconsin net and

(01:04:01):
the penalty coming up against Michigan, Badgers are going to
get a cune his power play with two twenty seven
left in the second, trailing one nothing, They're gonna take TJ.
Hughes Nicholas bet to make the.

Speaker 4 (01:04:17):
Goala was way behind the play so weren't definitely wasn't
looking so Lotch went down behind the net. I wonder
if he got back up and got taken back down.
But the Badgers will gladly get another power play chance.

Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
Here seventeen thirty three to tom of that penalty on
Michigan's TJ.

Speaker 5 (01:04:39):
Hughes.

Speaker 4 (01:04:39):
So this Badger's first power play unit. I'm not sure
they got a shot off the last time. The second
one got him simplified a little bit. We'll see if
Sisconsin tries to put the puck on the net a
little bit more on this one.

Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
Badgers eight for their last twenty two over a seven
game span in which they're five to one and one
but zero for two. Tonight face off won by Wisconsin.
It ricocheted off the knee dex Sheimer then settled down
by Morrissey and they worked the triangle out high left
now deck Szeimer left wing, Morrissey slot mostly didn't get
a lot on it, save made rebound. Paul Findley with
a chance corpie to its left, denies Quinn. Findley, one

(01:05:12):
of the nation's top goal scorers. Big stop and he covers.

Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
Golden chance there high slot batterers take the shot, the
rebound there and end of the play. Cody Leskowski took
a pretty good shot. He was down there trying to recover,
pretty high, high in his head.

Speaker 3 (01:05:32):
Didn't look like Findley got a lot of that. Now
now going Lindmark talking with referee Barry Pokmara about something
Codyleskonski was trying to readjust his helmet. Assistant coach Kevin
Murdoch is talking via the radio transmitter with Director of
Hockey Operations Luke Regner about a potential major penalty. Well,

(01:05:56):
that's a possible review, I think, or a high stick.

Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
Right, I mean, that's what he got hit pretty good
sitting on the slot he took him a little minute
to get up, but the battery. He's off the ice
and Cookanon's in his place right now.

Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
But they decide not to have video review. We just
play on. So Mike Hastings hangs on to his time
out and Michigan wins the face off and sends it
all the way down. Two minutes to go on the period,
minute thirty six lefts in the power play, Wisconsin needs
one to tie. Here's Kocanon across the line. Badger's on side.
He dumps it into the corner wall and then up

(01:06:27):
off of the high glass and it didn't make it
all the way around to deck Seimer. Josh Ernessy, the
big lumbering right handed forward from Michigan, carries it into
the Wisconsin zone and then slowed by Dexzheimer, and the
Badgers have possession once again. Let's see if they can
get their power play set up here. Dex Seimer drops
back to Morrissey Gavin with his parents in town, his

(01:06:47):
brother and sister, and a bunch of friends and family,
cousins and uncles, former teammates. Same with Zach Schulz for
that matter.

Speaker 4 (01:06:55):
Marci had one of the policemen taking a family photo yesterday.
There's twenty twenty five people in the photo.

Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
Yeah, badger's battling for the loose puck in the Michigan zone.
Wolverine's doing a nice job on the penalty kill fan
till he crossed, checking Morrissey into the back once or
twice and Devin fell to his knees. Finley tried to
out muscle hallim able to do so and win the
puck out of the point. Dex Sheimer left wing, Finley
backside right. Moseley shoots one, tried to go low with
his shot. Corpye ready for it. He gobbled it up

(01:07:22):
and held on. Looked like there may have been room upstairs.
Moseley shot it low. Corpy made the stop.

Speaker 4 (01:07:29):
Yeah, it looked like Mosey was aiming for the five
hole on the goaltender there. He did a good job.
He was going right to laugh the badger a little
bit of movement there. We're looking for for badgister to
try to make this goaltender move and he covers up
a lot of the net. It's an interesting tactic or
a different tech that tried to find room between the
legs when he's moving across.

Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
Actually an excellent play by the defense beneath and Edwards.
He dove across in front of Moseley as he tried
to shoot the puck, and it looked like it went
off the shaft of his stick and slowed the trajectory
of that shot. Michigan wins the defensive zone face off
and clears one last chance here for the Badgers. On
the man advantage, Logan Henzler weaves his way into the

(01:08:10):
neutral zone. Now Tyson Dick will dump it into the
right corner. Lind Mark after it there, sweeps it around,
Dick will slip wall. Ten seconds to go in the
power play, Falan shot Oh, that was redirected and that
bounced towards the net, but then came free and look
out Michigan potential breakaway at Shipsky he's got three shorties
this year comes in and scores right as the Badger's

(01:08:30):
power play expired. Garret Shifty with a breakaway goals to nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:08:34):
Michigan loose puck up near the sideboards towards the blue line.
Shifsky was on his horse. He saw that to play
and developing. He went straight up the middle of the ice.
His teammate found him and back of a shot just
inside the post and maybe off the post by the
glove hand of Tommy Scarfoni and makes it a two

(01:08:56):
to nothing game Michigan.

Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
That's an even strength goal for Garrett at nineteen thirty three.
He beats Scarfoni glove's side. The Badgers down a pair. Now,
that's the fourteenth time this season the Badgers have given
up a goal in the final three minutes of a period. Wow,
and that one hurts. You go to the locker room
down one, Okay, but now you're down a pair and

(01:09:21):
you haven't had a lot of sustained offensive pressure tonight
against the Wolverines. And that'll do it for period number two.
Garrett Schifsky at nineteen thirty three. After Rayo Mullins scored
an even strength goal at twelve twenty six, Wolverines lead
the Badgers to nothing after two periods of play. Hey, fans,

(01:09:44):
make sure you register your child for a chance to

Badgers dot Com backslash Zamboni Michigan leeds Wisconsin. This is
Badger Hockey from there Foo.

Speaker 1 (01:10:05):
Badger Hockey is brought to you by you w Health
Sports Medicine, tweeting the Badgers, tweeting you and buy see geek.
Set Geek is the official ticketing partner of the Wisconsin Badgers.
Find tickets to Badger games and more. See gee. It's
time to drop the puck for the third period.

Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
And the third period underway here at yost Arena, Michigan
with a two nothing lead on Wisconsin, Badger's gained the
Michigan line and Owen Lindmark's skates indeed run into by
Ethan Edwards. Jack Horback throwing his body around trying to
jam the puck free. It's back behind the Michigan net,
pinching in Dexheimer the team and the puck is knifed
free by Rayo Mullen Headman's Draper at center ice, cut

(01:10:47):
off by a launch, puck comes off Draper's stick. Henzler
takes a hit, released a pass to Moseley. Stick candles
away from Michael Hage up the left wing wall and
then to Finley, who sweeps it deep. Badger's trailing to nothing.
As we get the third period started, long lead feed
Werner against Lotch. Warner comes in right wing shot one
pat Satan made by Scarfhony. Boy. Warner got that shot off.

(01:11:09):
Little fella Lotch was on him immediately, but he was
able to squeeze that one off on goal. Wrrisey picks
up the loose pucket center. I spumped it off the wall.
Mosley's got it, pitched it towards Finley an aerial pass
and Quinn couldn't get his stick on it. I wish
you would have just shot the putt right. Piers Shifsky
now cuts to the slot e slow moving by Scarfhony,

(01:11:30):
and care goes to get it. He'll head man to
Moseley at the red line. Got a piece of it
to deflect it into the Michigan zone and Ethan Edwards
after it there. Boulverenes trying to snap a three game
losing streak. They finally scored their first goal in almost
two hundred and fifteen minutes. Here's a tough angled shot
by Hughes, easy sticks afe for Scarfhony kukin impatient snaps

(01:11:51):
off the pass to Fitzgerald too hot to handle and
now it goes down into the corner and Fitzgerald's got
it protecting the puck. Double team got knocked down. No
penalty call and for support is Kuchen and Fitzgerald remains
seated on the ice. Liskowsky had the puck right dot,
tried to peak Kukanon down to the goal line, passed
it and get through shoals out high, his shot kicked
out by Corpy, very calm and cool in the cage.

(01:12:14):
Cameron Corpy now dex Sheimer mishandles the puck. It's bumped
out to center by Michigan. Two fifteen into the third,
Badger's trailing two nothing. Kukanin right wing pass off the
back heel of dex Sheimer. He's able to track it
down to the corner, sauce it out to kuchanin low
shot blocked in front by Haiti, pulls it away from
Liskowsky and then it's chipped out by Michigan back to

(01:12:37):
the Wisconsin line. It comes good start to the third
period though for Wisconsin. Fitzgerald pass right wing and it
eludes the stick of Tyson Dick, but he's in on
the fore check. He ties up the defenseman Fan Tilly
Adam Piedla trying to win it free. He's spun down
by Roe. Puck still loose. Piela trying to dig it

(01:12:58):
out comes free to the high slot. Sausta head. Here's
Dascus now potential break cuts in and he could not
get the shot on goal. His scarfhon he came out
top of the blue paint.

Speaker 4 (01:13:08):
Daniel Lotz got back quick and forced that shot a
little earlier. I think that he wanted.

Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
And now Piedle on the ford check. Puck bounced off
the end boards. Humphrees ran into Piedla trying to force
a turnover. Mellenbacher's got it low right slot. Oh, the
puck went right through the legs of shorri Er Shoal
and out to center. Sawyer was open low slot and
they just went right through the wickets. Three and a
half minutes into the third, Badgers trailing two to nothing,

(01:13:36):
Lynn Mark chops it into the offensive zone, stolen by.

Speaker 11 (01:13:39):
Hornbocky cuts in it scores Jack Horback first goal of
the season Badgers within one early third period.

Speaker 4 (01:13:48):
It's just been a little bit more aggressive on the
fore check for Wisconsin early third period. Here a lot
of work along the boards. This one. Lin Mark starts
it off, puck comes right out to Horpack. He makes
a heck of a move around the miskin defenseman and
just chips the puck over the goaltender as gets and
going to his left and hips it back to the
goaltenders right and the Badgers are back in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:14:09):
The first goal for Jack Horback in twenty four games
dating back the last season. The assist the lone assist
to Owen Linn Market three thirty four, and for the
sixteenth time in seventeen games this season, the Badgers are
within one goal, tied or have the lead in the
third period. They've been in every game except the second

(01:14:30):
game in Denver back in October, so Wisconsin. Within one
three and a half minutes into the third Horback from
Lynn Market three thirty four win Linn Mark the captain,
setting up Hoarback, who did make a heck of a
move left wing, cut right, and Corpy went down and

(01:14:52):
Horbach went upstairs.

Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
After you see that, it's hard to believe he as
that's his first goal of the year.

Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
As impressive Badgers with a pucket the insive zone. Dex
Sheimer's out there with Zach Schulz. Shuls Will rim it
around and out towards the blue line. Edward's got there
right by the Badger bench to force it back deep.
Draper tried to fend off Shoals those two with a
heck of a battle in the near corner. Now Dexzheimer
pulls it free, got it to Schulz, who whacked it
out to neutral ice. And now Michigan's Van Tilly dumped

(01:15:20):
it in Badger's wanted an icing nothing called Wisconsin's got
the puck and a line changed to come. Dex Sheimer
stands behind his own net, dex Sheimer with Lotch. Although
Ben will come off the ice here in a moment
for Hensler, I think Fitzgerald's out there with Kuchenin and Liskowski.
Daniel skated up to the blue line, got bumped off
the buck by Age, a steal by Age, and he

(01:15:41):
threw it towards Warner in the slot, just out of
his reach. Dex Sheimer stays out there and he goes down.
Oh he heard his right or left shoulder. It looks
like Ben Dexzheimer really bracing himself. He's in a lot
of pain as he has to the badger's bench, and
trader Andy Roady will attend to dex Sheimer as he
gets there. Liskowsky on the rush backhand shot right pad
saved made by Corpy. Michigan able to get it out

(01:16:02):
near the blue line, but held into Badgers. Here's Fitzgerald
dangling that can't shot saved by Corpy. Great play by
launch to set up Fitzgerald, who cut through the low
slot is backhander denied by Corpy.

Speaker 4 (01:16:13):
I tried to get talk about Corpy moving back and
forth and side to side. He's still really calm when
he does that. He keeps his pass together and makes it.
There's no room on the floor where Fitzgerald put the puck.

Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
Badger's exit their zone. Shoal can't get it much further.
White Wall fell down to his knees, and Hughes had
already come across the line and offside. Called on Michigan
Badger Hockey brought to you by Cleary building built with
pride before the shamrock is applied clearibuilding dot com a
two to one Michigan lead early third period.

Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
Here in ann Arbor, keep an eye on Bendexheimer on
the bench there. We saw earlier a game where he
looked like he heard himself bad went to the bench
without a stick, turned around because of play, and finished
off a pretty long shift. Showed his toughness. We'll see. Uh,
he looks like he's aready settled in there on the bench.

Speaker 3 (01:17:03):
Yeah, that was a Notre Dame series. You'll recall there
was a collision near the Wisconsin Blue line. You heard
the fans maybe grumbling thinking a penalty should be called.
Here's Anthony kershoots one through traffic, kneeling glove saved by
Cameron Corpy in a face off to come. Horback and
Whitelaw were going at it in the high slot White Law,
the former Badger giving his old teammates some verbal assault

(01:17:27):
and Jack just skated away from it. And I tip
my cap to Jack Horback because normally he'd turn around
and go right at him.

Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
He's the guy that he knows pretty well.

Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
It's probably a little different situation or a bit smart
play by Jack Horrock to to skate away, for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:17:46):
Boris se Moseley and Finley out there. This line has
been the production line for this Wisconsin squad this season,
but quiet here tonight. Finley had a goal last night
and the Badgers four nothing victory, and so did Moseley
for that matter. It'd be nice to see that top

(01:18:06):
line maybe do something here. Badger's down one, Deckheimer back
on the ice, and now here's Draper across the line,
cut off my shoulds, but still snapped off his shot
off balance left wing. The right handed Draper off the
right shoulder of Scarfhonian into the mesh, stopping play exactly
six minutes into the third period, Badger's trailing Michigan two

(01:18:27):
to one.

Speaker 4 (01:18:28):
Really quicker release there by, Draper kind of had the
puck out in front and made it look like he
wasn't ready to shoot, but he turned that quickly and
found the uh shot labeled for the far side corner,
but Scarfoni's shoulder got a piece of it and put
in the netting.

Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Draper's seven goals in seventy five career games. Badgers win
the defensive zone face off and Fitzgerald will scoop it
ahead to Lodge on side. His Wisconsin Lodge left wing
put it backside for Koukin and he was tied up
and Michigan gobbles up the loose puck. Humphrey slowed by
Ryan Botterol, who's played sparingly here tonight after missing the

(01:19:05):
last five games with an injury. Michigan dumps it in.
Henzler escapes from the check of Tanner, row up to
bottle roll puck, slides off his stick Kouchen and has
it at the red line and dumps it in. Fitzgerald
remains on the four check bottlerel out there too, almost
beat age to the puck, and now Shifsky's got it
two on one, potentially for Michigan right wing. Shipsky's shooting

(01:19:26):
one and coming out on top of the grease. Scarfhoni
got his glove on it and it caraved over the
glass and out of play. It's stopped by Scarfhoni to
keep it a one goal game.

Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
Yeah, and coming out basically a two on one. He
comes way out of his crease confidence and Anthony Kerr
taking across, taking the pass across, he went down, took
that away and Scarfoni again probably a foot two feet
out of the blue paint coming down the right wing.

Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
Starphoni has stopped twenty six of twenty eight shots tonight.
Badgers though down two to one, Badgers win the defensive zone.
Face off Tyson Dick Rink wide right wing for Leskowsky
Badgers or off side to Night's game. Brought to you
in part by Alliant Energy. Visit a Lion Energy dot
com to see how Alliant Energy invests in diverse energy
solutions for today and the future.

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
The goal scoring duo Jack Horbach and Oh and Lynn Mark.
Back out there. Lynnmark, he was perfect before on masofs.
He's lost a few of them in this period.

Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
Center ice draw and who's it gonna win it? Eventually
Michigan gets possession, although the Wolverine's almost coughed it up.
Jackson Hallum with it right wing pass, good catch by
white Law, turns and dumps it in right corner to
the left. Lynn Mark can't clear pass to the slot
off the back skate of white Law, Otherwise he was
wide open. Then a blind pass to the slot picked

(01:20:52):
off by Wisconsin. Lynn Mark and the red line tries
to dump and chase. He got the dump part correct.
As he chases, Michigan got to the first but Horbox
steps in and keeps it alive. In the attacking zone.
Mellen Baker wipes out. Ana Rico's now got it for
the Wolverines. He lobs it ahead to Hughes, shoals right
on him. Lyn Mark getting shoved around mellen. Baker's now

(01:21:14):
got it and he takes a shoulder from Edwards stumps
it in Badger's change. Twelve twenty left in the third
Wisconsin trailing two to one. Hughes across the line, sauced
to head, intended for a stop. It too far. Dexheimer
after it and he wipes out his right leg, goes
into the end boards, but he's fine. Back upon his skates.
Hugh steals behind the net leftie shot, Scarfunny kicks it out.

(01:21:36):
Rayo Mullen looking for a second of the night. He'll
try again. His shot goes off his teammate to stop it.
Dex Sheimer goes to get the puck. Dick breaks out
the shoal back to Dick center ice left wing Liskoski.
Dick trying to beat Edwards to the buck Ethan Edwards
though ye Dick took it away. Centering pass intercepted by
ray Mullen. Yeah, he'll settle things down and then misfired

(01:21:58):
on a breakout pass, but got through the Badger's defenseman
Draper now put it in front. Ricochet's took a blue
paint Scarfoni cut to his left ernest he and Launch
collided with the Badgers netminer. Not sure if Tommy got
a piece of the puck, but he kept it out
of the nets.

Speaker 4 (01:22:13):
And the whole setup of that play was a pass across.
I think it hit henslerr and went back to the
Michigan player and set Michigan up for that opportunity.

Speaker 3 (01:22:21):
Wisconsin's Morrissey dumpsit in. Moseley on the ford check. Michigan
got there first. Now Trustcott can't clear turn around shot.
Morrissey loose turn around shot. Finley missed the nets, almost
took off the head of the referee. Steel care left wing.
Morrissey top of the circle, looking pressured, shoots one his stars,
Gavin Morrissey from long range. Wisconsin pulls even here in Michigan.

Speaker 4 (01:22:46):
A lot of traffic in front of both his linemates,
I think Finley and Moseley is standing in front of
one of them, jumped up to get away from the puck,
and Morrissey at the point is super patient backed up.
At one point just fire the puck in the goal
attender had no chance to see that finds the far
post and the Patters get this game.

Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
Tied fifth goal of the year for Gavin Morrissey with
his parents Kevin and Judy, his sister Cameron, and brother
Shane all watching in the stands behind the Badger bench.
The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan residence scores the game tying goal
at eight point fifty eight. It's two to two here
at Yost Arena. Badgers won the face off, dumped it in.

(01:23:31):
Fitzgerald steals on goal. His shot actually off the blade
of Kuchin and stick and it rows up into the
mid section of Corfy, who was able to just corral
it and hang on keep throwing pucks at the net.

Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
I thought earlier it just didn't look like anything was
gonna get past the goaltender. He just takes up so
much room. But Badgers have found out a couple times.
Here won a great move by Horback. I saw Morrissey
score and then, like you said, try it again, and
great deflection by Kukanin unfortunately right into the chest.

Speaker 3 (01:24:04):
All the top line comes through for Wisconsin. Now a
face off win. Fitzgerald turn around shot Kukanon blocked by
Rayo Mullen shoals now heaves it back behind the net. Oh,
my goodness. It karroved off the shelf, then off the
top of the cage, hit the back of the goltender
who backed up to the gold post or the crossbar
so it wouldn't fall behind him, and it laid the

(01:24:26):
rest on top of the net.

Speaker 4 (01:24:28):
Wow, what the hell is feeling? If you're a goaltender,
it banks off the back of your left shoulder and
you really have no don't know what to do at
that point. If you move back, you might knock it in.
Oh that would have been one heck of a balance
for Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
Goodness. Instead, it did not go into the back of
the net. Badgers have lynn Mark and Horbach and Leskowski
out there now and lynn Mark lost to draw. Here
comes Michigan on the attack. Draper tries to split a
pair of Badgers does dumps it in gave Chase, but
Shol's able to poke it along for Deckzheimer, who moves
it back to the near side wall in Lindmark. He

(01:25:03):
tries to chop it out to center and does to
the stick of Edwards, though who refeeds Wisconsin's offensive zone,
but Wolverines need a change and the Badgers have possession
ten point fifteen left in the third. Wisconsin has pulled
even down two nothing after two goals by Horbach and
Morrissey and the Pucket center ice kicked free by Lotch

(01:25:25):
and he'll fire it down deep. Fantilli, after it looks
over his left shoulder now stops behind the Michigan net
and gets things set up Piedla with Dick and Shol
right now the Badger's fourth line on the ice and
Haiti coughed it up to Hansler and the Wisconsin zone.
Head Man passed for Piedla can't catch at the Wisconsin
line and slides back to the Michigan zone and Fantilli

(01:25:48):
after it there with Schol in his hip pocket for
a little while, they break out up at center, misfiring
on the headman passed off the backskate of Piedla. Lotch
tried to scoop it ahead, Dick took it away from
now Shoal's got it Badgers outside, so your Shal shoots
one club saved by Corpy try to go upstairs and
Corpie made the stop and hung on nine twenty three

(01:26:08):
to go. In the third, Wisconsin's pulled even here against
eight thrank Michigan. We're tied at two. This is Badger
hockey from Airfield.

(01:27:46):
scored this season, Wisconsin's got two tonight, tied with Michigan.
Nine twenty three left in the third, Morrissey face off
win to Shoals, goes D to D right side, Deckzheimer
down low right. Finley whistles it through the low slot.
Shoals pick up the loose puck, fired it off of Warner,
who tries to poke it ahead past Shoals, but poked
it too far on goal in Scarfoni able to whack

(01:28:07):
it over the far side out of Harm's way. Michigan
refeeds the Wisconsin zone and Scarfhoni directs it to the corner.
Nine minutes left in the third Badri's Finley tried a
headman for Mosley. He took it away from Truscott tried
to break in, but trust it excellent work with his
stick to win that puck back and took it away.
Looked like Mosley was gonna have a breakaway.

Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
Mosey grabbed it with his left hand on the skate
and try to put it past the Michigan forward or
d whoever was there, and unfortunately broke it up before
he was on a breakaway.

Speaker 3 (01:28:37):
Michigan sends it out to center, then a Badger defenseman
Care fell down. Hage able to dump it in, then
Care steps in his way and allows Wisconsin Stalin to
go get the puck for two to two. Game eight
twenty five left the Detroit Red Wings draft choice Jack
Falin left wing breakout past Kuchen and rink wide. Care
tried to tap it ahead, got it to Fitzgerald, who

(01:28:58):
able to get it down deep into the Michigan zone,
but no pressure there from Wisconsin. Mootteril finally catches up
with Rayaum Mullen and they send it back on the
near side. Fan Tilly turned it over at center Kuchanon
across the line Kuchen and cuts the slot, tries to pass,
tries to shoot, finally shoots it's loose blocked in front.
Lotch got tripped down, possesses the puck in the corner,
tried to feed it off to the near side, instead

(01:29:19):
jammed out to center by Michigan. Wisconsin regains possession. Botteril
will dump it in and the Badger's changed seven fifty
to go. On the third in a two to two
hockey game, Wisconsin steels long range shot by Kuchan and
missed the net. Held in left point. Shoals his shot
blocked by white Law. I have to be mindful of
William Whitelaw out there. Lind Mark steels. He shoots one

(01:29:41):
oh through traffic. Corpy came out of his crouch and
the puck hit the glass behind the nets. Now Michigan
breaks out to the near side white Law. He's slowed
by Shoals, shovels ahead. Puck played with a high stick
by lynn Mark no Wisconsin's deck. Sheimer back in his
own zone, shoals ahead of Leskowsky chopped it out to center,
reaching four at Horbock instead gathered in by Michigan's Earnescy

(01:30:03):
and sent around to the far side to stop it.
Waves at his centering pass, but Draper's got it behind
the nets, banks it out to the point in Haiti.
The freshman moves at far side to the veteran Edwards.
Edwards skates past Horbock low left back behind the net,
wants to turn and wrap it around. Instead, shoots as
he gets to the low right circle that was blocked
by the Badger's leading shot blocker this season, Ben dex Sheimer,
now Draper tried to wrap around far side, he crawled

(01:30:26):
off the two of his stick. Horbock diving tried to
clear unsuccessfully Ernesty shot that was blocked Wisconsin. Schulz pulls
it away from a stop in front of the Badger's
net and Horback able to turn and clear. Badgers need
to change quickly though. Six and a half minutes left
in the third two to two the.

Speaker 4 (01:30:42):
Best shift to the period maybe from Michigan. It's some
finally some pressure.

Speaker 3 (01:30:45):
Help steal shot Ah great save in the left pad
buy Scarphony on the bullet from Tanner Row that pass
got through traffic and Row shot one and Scarphony stuck
out his left pillow and made the stop and now
and Lindmark just threw the buck out of play. Six
seventeen to go in the third, A two to two
hockey game and the face off in the Wisconsin zone

(01:31:09):
and Karen Falin out there, Finley, Morrissey and Mosley will
join them.

Speaker 4 (01:31:15):
Limar put the puck out of play there on the benches. Fortunately, Yeah,
that just needed to change. He was sticking inside the
blue line, just trying to buy some time to get
his teammates a chance to make a change, and he
put it right out of play.

Speaker 3 (01:31:28):
Face off to Scarfoni's right. It's Morrissey against Garrett Shifsky
and the face off one by Michigan age to the
point edward shot right pad save Scarfoni. Oh Shifskey tied
up by Morrissey. On the rebound attempt, he pushed it
to the near wall. The Badgers sent it out to center,
Morrissey had it, lost it. Shifsky moves it over to
Warner back in the Michigan zone and he's got the

(01:31:50):
possession of the pup now and we'll skate up the
near sideboards. Under six minutes left in the third, Badgers
have scored two in the third to tie it. Warner
cutting down the slot in the give and go with
Trustcott canceled out by Moseley. Page though now has it
long range shot over the top of the cage. Thalan
gets to it for the Badgers and Rims are around
off the glass and back out to neutral. Michigan refeats

(01:32:11):
the Wisconsin zone again. Quinn Finley will settle things down
deep in his own end. Finley twelve goals this season,
tied for the national lead, seven goals and fifteen points
in his last ten games for Quinn Finley, Michigan's got
the puck. They come ahead with it. Whitelaw rink wide,
Hughes oh Hallim got by the Badger defense, no place

(01:32:32):
to shoot. Fineskues though and from the left circle. Scarfhony
moved to his right and stopped it and gave up
no rebound.

Speaker 4 (01:32:41):
That was a nice play by Michigan up the ice,
a lot of speed coming up the zone, got into
the zone, won the race to the circle and had
every Badger looking into the corner. Following the play at
just a back drop back pass to Hughes, Scarfhoni makes
a tough.

Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
Save thirty four to twenty seven. Chop it's on goal
in favor of Michigan. We are tied it to Horbach
and Morrissey with goals. Here in the third four Wisconsin,
Christian Fitzgerald. We'll take face off against Marcus Stoppa.

Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
Damn.

Speaker 3 (01:33:12):
The puck comes out to the high slot, Dick wax
it to the far side deck. Sheimer's got it. He
lobs it ahead of the Michigan line and brought down
by Fan Tilly and then played ahead. Now is stopping
the foot race with Dex Shimer near the badger's net,
and Ben won that race. Played it to the corner.
Lotch then pulls it free and here he comes Lotch
up ahead Kuchen and cuts to the high slot, works

(01:33:32):
to open ice left wing, shoots one in front that's
blocked down. Lose old bat it out of mid air
by Tyson Dick above his shoulder on goal. If it
would have gone in, it would not have counted. And
then the whistle blows because Tyson Dick used a high stick.

Speaker 4 (01:33:48):
Heck of a playlight. Tyson Dick, who we know is
an incredible golfer. Yeah, I'm sure he's got some trick
shots on the golf cors, some bouncing balls around and
that one took it out of the air right on net.
That was a heck of a shot. From above his head.

Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
It was yeah. When he was at Umaz, Tyson Dick
took part in the US Open qualifier and almost won
the thing, just missed a playoff. He said when whenever
hockey ends, he'll be playing golf, maybe enter a tournament
or two. He's a scratch golfer. Tyson Dick Badgers. Horbach
blocked the pass, Michigan got the puck though, here's Hughes.

(01:34:25):
Now tap back White Law and he flings the puck
back out at center ice and Michigan has to touch
up and the Wolverines dump it in Scarphoni he couldn't
handle the bouncing puck. Top angled shot Scarfhoni scrambled back
to the net and denied Shipsky's bid. Now TJ. Hughes
scoop pass to the right circle. Shipsky turns and looks
at the net and his stick broken half. Phelan took

(01:34:46):
the puck Horbock to the red line. He'll dump it in.
Badgers need a change. Only four minutes left in regulation
a two to two game. Could the Badgers be headed
to their tenth overtire or make that their eighth overtime game.

Speaker 4 (01:34:58):
Of the years, been one ever big ten series so far.

Speaker 3 (01:35:01):
Yep, oh, good play by Shoals to poke the pucks
at the Kuchan in left wing settles and just miss
Bucker's side on Corpy. Good work by dex Heimer to
pinchion loose puck. Fitzgerald's got it looking he could have
shot in the slot. Instead passed to Kuchen and Kyle's
got it right wing. Dex Sheimer, Oh, nice cut to
his right and his shot too high off the corner glass.
Scholes hustled to hold his own behind the net. Fitzgerald

(01:35:24):
tried to center, broken up by Edwards, puck taken away
by Michigan who coughed it up. Fitzgerald in tight Corpy
kept it out. Oh my goodness, Michigan coughing up the puck.
The Badgers had a couple of Grade eight chances and
then they lipped the puck into the bench, stopping play.
Three nineteen to go in the third. It's a two
to two game. We paused ten seconds for station identification,

(01:35:45):
ten seconds for a legal idea. You're listening to Wisconsin
Badger Hawk with our producer Adam Morrison and Paul capel Biancle,
Brian Posik and Yost arena and ann arbor. The Badgers
were down two nothing. After two they rallied to tie
it three nineteen to go. In the third face off
to the left of the Michigan netminder Cameron Corpi Morrissey
tried to dig for it. Wolverines have it. They play

(01:36:07):
it behind their own net. Fan Tilly's skating away from
the pressure of Moseley, and now the Badgers have the
pucket center and Kevin Morrissey turns and dumps it back
in Moseley down the right wing wall, able to free
it for Wisconsin's Deckzheimer backside Finley, he'll take it off
the boards, then carried into the wall by Fan Tilly
Finley waiting for support. Finley pulls off the wall, but

(01:36:27):
the Wolverines pull the puck free and Jacob Truscott, their captain,
dumps it into the Wisconsin zone around to the far corner.
Slurr able to beat a stop it of the puck
and then got knocked down the back on his skates
and Henzler took it away and sauced it ahead that Finley,
who turned and batted it out to center ice about
belt high maybe chest tie. It was a high fastball

(01:36:48):
that Finley whacked out the center. Of course, he'll recall
his big goal at the coal center that he batted
in like a baseball player earlier this season. That was
a heck of a play because there's a muck, but
got too much of it and accidentally iceed it. With
two thirteen to twelve left in regulation, face off down
on the Wisconsins will use his time out. But I
think it was a relatively recent forward line chain for

(01:37:11):
the Badgers, and I think it'll stay the way it
is with Lin Mark Leskowski and dig care and Falin
the defenseman, and you want.

Speaker 4 (01:37:18):
To ow and Lendmark on the ice right now. Anyway,
with a couple of minutes left in the game and
a defensive zone face off, try to get the possession
of this puck.

Speaker 3 (01:37:26):
Wind Mark's well won twelve of twenty make it thirteen
of twenty one face offs. He wins that defensive zone draw.
Badger's trying to escape, but Hage does a nice job
to keep it in. Badgers will try a second time.
Falan failed at a pass lose puck in the slot
hege had it. Then Werner Wright circle swung and missed
at a one time bid Liskowski able to slowly chip

(01:37:46):
it through center one fifty to go in regulation a
two to two game, Shiftski at the red line, pressured
by Falan, heaves it across the ice to Trustcott and
he'll dump it in. Scarfoni stops it behind his net
and leaves it back left side for Shoals head Man's
to Fitzgerald turns and faces the ice and now peels
back and goes to the defenseman Falin. Wisconsin's Tyson Dick

(01:38:09):
just got knocked down near the Michigan bench, no penalty,
and Edward's back in his own zone to play it.
Ethan Edwards, New Jersey Devil's fourth round draft choice, sends
it into the Wisconsin zone. Scholes, slowed by Draper a
stop it, takes it away looking for the point man Edwards.
He's got it. Shot through traffic. Ernesty redirected it why

(01:38:29):
and then deck Sheimer wanted free but chopped it right
back to the stick of Draper. Draper turns and whips
it around and Rayol Mullen holds it to a stop.
It top of the left circle on him. Fitzgerald under
a minute ago, Christian won the puck can't clear Rayol
Mullen shoots one and bat it away by Scarfoni behind
the net and without a stick a stop it. Try

(01:38:50):
to kick it along with the Badgers. Take it away.
Forty five seconds to go bad pass Fitzgerald won by
white Law, taken back by the Wolverines who just iced
the p oh they say no icing book out centering
past to Whitelaw Hallum. He chops it back out of
the blue line hell and passed back side Whitelaw wide open.
Wasn't ready for it. He had half the net to

(01:39:12):
chip it in and missed it. Here's horback now on
the rush. He lost the buck now tries to retrieve
in the corner. So it hit from Van Tilly and
the Wolverines taken it. Eighteen seconds to go in regulation.
Whitelaw AT's center now to Hallum, centering pass intercepted by
a Lodge patiently looking angle to pass, hoping to hit
shoal hallim read it took it away across the line.

(01:39:33):
He comes, buck slides to the far corner launch after
it there three seconds left. Wolverines can't hold. We are
headed to overtime. Tied at two and after the horn
blue Sawyer's shoal with a small cross check to the
lower back of Jacob Truscott, who went down hard. No
pedally call though, and an overtime session. The ninth of

(01:39:57):
the year for Wisconsin. Beggar part of the eighth of
the year for Wisconsin. They're two four and one in overtimes.
They played eight a year ago. Boy, fans really unhappy
with Barry Pakmara and Nicholas Bett for not calling shol
for a crosscheck. Sawyer may have gotten away when I'm there.

Speaker 4 (01:40:17):
I think Sawyer was just trying to play the puck,
even though it was winding down. It was right as
the horn sounded. Probably fortunate that there was nothing called
there lower back shot on Truscott and Betters will at
least guarantee a point and a serious win. They'll love
to have more. It's been a lot of talk about
overtimes all week. Three on three. Betters haven't had a

(01:40:40):
great success this year with that. But the Badgers again win.
That's four points in the bank, try to get a
fifth year and move on up.

Speaker 3 (01:40:50):
So in the third period of play, Wisconsin down two nothing,
scores twice to tie it. Jack Horback his first goal
of the season after owing Lindmark jam the puck four
bock at three thirty four cut the deficit to one,
and then Gavin Morrissey from long range left beat Corpy
through traffic at eight fifty eight from Anthony Karen Quinn

(01:41:12):
finley fifth goal of the year for Morrissey that tied
it at two. No penalties in the second period. Michigan
had thirteen shots on goal in that third period and
Tommy Scarfoni stopped them all thirty three saves for Scarfoni
through sixty minutes of play. Meanwhile, Cameron Corpie stopped five
of the seven Badger bids in that period. Corpy has

(01:41:33):
twenty five saves so far. Wisconsin oh for three on
the power play, Michigan is zero for two. We will
skate three on three overtime again. The Badgers this season
in OT are two four and one. Michigan this season
is three to zero to one in overtime sessions.

Speaker 4 (01:41:54):
We've seen of late, but that has had unbelievable opportunities
and some of those three on three overtimes did not win.
Between breakaways various games, I mean, there is so many
chances and many of those losses.

Speaker 3 (01:42:08):
When you think about Fitzgerald's breakaway against Michigan State last
Saturday night. You think about Gavin Morrissey's two breakaways and
the overtime tie with Alaska Anchorage the weekend before that.
So the goaltenders change places. Corpy is between the pipes
to our right, bent over looking at the ice. Scarfoni

(01:42:29):
in the cage to our left, bent over looking at
the ice.

Speaker 4 (01:42:34):
It's like a mirror image.

Speaker 3 (01:42:36):
Deckzheimer, Finley and Morrissey the Badger's three skaters against Hallam,
Hughes and Edwards for the Maze and Blue. The students
section on their feet, virtually everybody on their feet here
adiost Arena three on three, sudden victory, five minute overtime

(01:42:58):
and the opening face office so critical in the Badgers
win possession. Let's see if they've learned their lessons so
for previous overtime games. Morrissey chips it back to Dexzheimer,
and they'll give it back to Morrissey. Hallam some token
for checking pressure. Dex Sheimer's got it again, refeeds Morrissey
with a little open ice out of his own zone.

(01:43:19):
Morrissey waddles his way to center, gains the red line
stick hand Oles thought about coming across, cut off by
Hughes and Morrissey maintains possession and now goes to Dexzheimer.
Hughes needs a change. The Badgers with the puck dex
Sheimer across the line right wing, Hallim on him, sausted out.
Finley cuts to the slot, can't get a shot off.
Edward's on him and the puck trickles back to center

(01:43:41):
and Finley's got a regroup. Forty five seconds gone by
an ot tied at two. Finley across the line, drops
it off for Fitzgerald tries to cut around. Shipsky does
slot shot blocker safe made by Corpy. Oh, what a
move by Fitzgerald. Corpy though, up to the task, and
then latch cut off far Wall in al Michigan with
its first possession of over time, Badgers had a puck

(01:44:01):
for a minute.

Speaker 4 (01:44:02):
They most of it in their own end, and we
saw Fitzgerald last year was the winning goalscorer here in Michigan.

Speaker 3 (01:44:07):
Also, Shifsky behind the Badger net, tries to turn to
wrap it around, got cut off. He's got it out
high right off to Michael Hages, the fantastic freshman stick
handling tries to shoot him. Does he cut and left
and then went back right upstairs beat Stark phony another
overtime loss for.

Speaker 4 (01:44:25):
Wisconsin, and the Badger bench is beside itself a huge
interference pick play on that one to create the opening
for Michael Hage. Badgers are going to plead their case,
but there's not going to change the outcome of this one.
It was a perfect pick set up by Michigan right
in the slot. We see our coach Hastings standing on

(01:44:49):
the bench with his arms in disbelief that that was messed.

Speaker 3 (01:44:55):
And now Nicholas bet over to get an earful from
the Badger's head coach. Michael Age, the first round draft
pick of the Montreal Canadians, gets the game winning goal
at one twenty one of overtime. Michigan snaps a three
game losing streak with a three to two victory over
the Wisconsin Badgers back in one minute. This is Badger
hockey from.

I'm with Paul keppel Biank O'Brien post it here at
Yost Arena in Ann Arbor and overtime loss to Ohio
State and overtime loss at Notre Dame and overtime loss
to Minnesota and overtime win at Penn States and overtime
tie with Anchorage and overtime loss at home to Michigan State,
and now an overtime loss at Michigan Badger's fall three
to two in overtime. And unfortunate too because was a

(01:51:00):
heck of a comeback. Was by Wisconsin down to nothing
after two, had some chances, Tommy Scarfoni was was good again,
but yeah, Michigan got away with a pick play and
converted and they get two points out of the weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:51:16):
It's amazing how each of those overtimes there's memorable plays,
whether it's badge or chances that they missed or talked about.
A couple of pick plays one at Notre Dame. Here tonight,
this was just almost like a football team coming off
the line with picking their wide receiver at the goal
line and bring them open this one, Daniel, watch this
high slot taken out by Garrett Schifsky and Michael Hage

(01:51:37):
went the rest of the way and made a heck
of a finish. It was a great play going inside
and putting it into the far corner. But that frustration continues.
The Badgers overcame goal scoring in the early season and
been better lately. Obviously, their nemesis right now is overtime.
Won every every series in Big ten play here, it's
been unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (01:51:57):
It is. It's amazing. All right, Let's get to our
three stars. So the game brought to you every night

Speaker 4 (01:52:02):
Who do you have, Paul Well, Gavin Marcy going number
three star. I got the game tied, gave the top
line some offensive production, just made a nifty play, backed
up high slod just put the puck on net and
his line mates did the rest, created the screen for
the goaltender, put it on the far inside posts and
got a goal and got the game tied. Number two

(01:52:24):
star jag Horbach and just for the one play alone,
and that was a heck of a move by the
not known for his offense gets his first goal of
the year, makes a great move around a Michigan d
and then chips the puck over the goaltender, going him horback,
going right, chipping it back left and finding it under
the crossbar. And then number one. I mean, Tommy Scarfoni
last night was great. Tonight was great again. Thirty three

(01:52:47):
saves for the Big Tens rating first Star of the
Week of the week finishes with what is that? Fifty
six saves on the weekend, fifty nine shots and just
been a machine last four or five weeks and been
part of the Badger's resurgence.

Speaker 3 (01:53:04):
Yeah, in fact, you know he was six one and
one in his last eight starts with a nine to
thirty eight save percentage and a one to fifty nine
goals against. He allowed only thirteen goals in the last
eight starts after giving up twelve in his first four
when he started owing four. Here Tonight's Scarfoni was good,
especially in the scoreless first period for the Badger's fall
in overtime three to two. Are three Stars of the game,

Sconsin falls in overtime to Michigan three to two after
a third period rally with two goals. Let's stay of
our energizing performance of the game, brought to you by
Alliant Energy, Powering Beyond for you.

Speaker 4 (01:56:56):
Paul Well at one point in the second period, I
believe you meant and where the Badger's going to find
their offense? So they did it early in the third
three thirty four in yeh Fort. Chack created it Owen
Lindmyer putting some pressure on Michigan D, forced a turnover,
passed to Jack Horback, picked up, made a move, incredible
move around a D made a great finish, and Badgers

(01:57:17):
got some energy, got the goal, and they kind of
went to work for a while until they got the
game tied up, which was also nice. But that definitely
gave the bats Badger some energy and got the game,
got the Badger's a point really in the end.

Speaker 3 (01:57:29):
Right So that's our energizing performance of the game. So
as you look at the Big Ten right now, Minnesota
in first place with twenty four points, Wisconsin and Michigan
State tied for second with nineteen. Granted, the Badgers have
played twelve league games as Spartan's only eight. Ohio State
has sixteen points, Michigan thirteen, Notre Dame four, and Penn
State one. Tough way to end the first semester, but

(01:57:52):
the encouraging signs from this Wisconsin hockey team after a
two and a start to the season, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:57:57):
That's been a pretty remarkable run back to respectability. Even
if you look at start looking at computer rankings, this
time of year is when it starts to kind of
make some sense. The Badgers are in striking distance around
thirty yep. I haven't looked tonight yet, but they were
in the mid twenties before the night, so they've gotten
back to a place where they're can make a run

(01:58:20):
in the second half. They're Big ten standings again. They
look probably better than they are right now, but they're
in the mix for sure, looking at home ice and
a long way to go. Obviously only halfway through that schedule.
So Badgers get a couple of weeks off here, get
going again in Milwaukee and take it back to Chicago
and Michigan State and back in Big Ten.

Speaker 3 (01:58:38):
Play all right, pull nice job and enjoy your Christmas. Okay,
you too? Thanks fun in Sweden. Will Paul Kappa bianco
with us from UW Athletic Brand Communications kind enough to
have Kevin Murdoch, Badger's assistant coach, step up here to
join us here in our post game show following Wisconsin's
three to two overtime loss, and Ken, thanks for coming

(01:59:00):
all the way upstairs here. It's it's quite a hike,
I know, but boy, I tell you, there was quite
a comeback in the third period. I'm kind of getting
tired of overtime, how about you.

Speaker 26 (01:59:09):
Yeah, yeah, it'd be It's always nice when you can
just finish the game regulation and have a your favor.

Speaker 3 (01:59:16):
Unfortunately, it didn't happen that way. You figured Michigan was
going to come out strong here tonight, and they did,
didn't they.

Speaker 16 (01:59:22):
Yeah, they did.

Speaker 26 (01:59:22):
And actually I thought at the start of the game,
our first couple of ships, we uh, we did a
pretty good job establishing a for check, getting a couple
of chances right away in those first first few minutes,
and then they kind of had a pushback, put us
on our heels for for a little bit, and we
had a weather a storm at times. And but it
was good the way we came out in the third
and we were able to tie that game up and
force it toill over time.

Speaker 3 (01:59:44):
Yeah. You know, it's such a possession game in overtime.
You know, if you don't have the puck, you really
have to work your fanny off and you have to
be smart about how you defend two to try to
regain possession, right.

Speaker 26 (01:59:55):
Yeah, Yeah, it's all about puck possession. It's all about
generating those chances and trying to capitalize on them. I mean,
those are the that's the that's the key there is
generating those chances and then making sure you don't missing
that create something for them going the other way.

Speaker 3 (02:00:10):
And yeah, yeah, it's crazy. I don't know if you
can comment, but you know you're two five and one
in overtime and two seven and one and one goal games.
I mean, that's right, you've been in everything. So but
the good thing is, and you see it in the
rest of the staff season. I think the players do too.
You're trending in the right direction. There's still some good

(02:00:32):
hockey left to be played and encouraged about what could
happen in the second half, aren't you.

Speaker 26 (02:00:36):
Yeah yeah, I mean, like you said, I had a
lot of one goal games, a lot of overtime games
so far this year, so we're right there. Just a
matter of, you know, finding a way to win those
in regulation or win them in overtime at this rate
and yeah, not giving anybody a chance to finish this.
So but things are moving in the right direction, I think.

(02:00:58):
I mean, think about our team this year, what twelve
new guys so kind of yeah, half that lineup's new.
We were you know, we were getting production from that
one line for a good chunk that first half. Now
we're starting to get some secondary scoring and Tommy's been
playing great lately down the stretch. So those are two
things that we had kind of banked on, uh throughout

(02:01:19):
the year. So yeah, hopefully we can kind of come
out of this break, uh this break here and keep
it rolling.

Speaker 3 (02:01:25):
Yeah, Tommy scarfone, he was good again, excellent last night
and a good I mean he in the first period.
He kept you in the in the hockey game for
pete sake, didn't.

Speaker 26 (02:01:31):
He Yeah, yeah, he had some big saves there in
the first especially that one, that one late there. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I know, he was. He was big this this whole weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:01:41):
He was.

Speaker 26 (02:01:41):
He was really good and kind of he gave us
a chance to stick with stuff yesterday and get to win.

Speaker 13 (02:01:45):
And yeah, he gave us a chance to get to
overtime tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:01:48):
All right, So what do you do in the next
two weeks? For fans that don't know, the team's got
to take a break. I mean, it's just part of
the rules. It's the longest season in college sports, this
hockey season.

Speaker 26 (02:01:57):
Right, Yeah, So I guess from here where we get
get back to Madison. I know some guys are going
to be able to go home right away, and some
guys might have a final or two to finish up. Yeah,
they'll be able to head home and relax, get to
see their families and spend some time, spend some time
with them, and then come right back and get right
back at it for the tournament Milwaukee. They're coming out
of Christmas.

Speaker 3 (02:02:16):
How about you as a newlywed, I'll be I'll.

Speaker 26 (02:02:20):
Be around Madison for a bit, probably go watch in
high school games in Minnesota. I'm sure you will go
down and see my parents for a couple of days
and then be right back at it.

Speaker 3 (02:02:29):
All right. Hey, thanks for coming up. Hoping it will again.
It's been exciting nothing else. It's been times it could
be demoralizing, but it hasn't shown in your players play
or attitudes. Right when you lose tight games like this
over and over, that could work on you.

Speaker 26 (02:02:44):
No, they've they've been really good about sticking to it
and continue to push through stuff and this whole year.
Obviously there's been some ups and downs, especially early on there,
but they've been good. They've had a really good attitude
about it. And they've gone to work every day even
in practice. And you know there's a good group of
guys that you can see things are starting to change,
starting move in the right direction. And yeah, hopefully we

(02:03:07):
can kind of keep it going. We keep moving in
the right direction here the second half.

Speaker 3 (02:03:10):
All right, thanks for coming up, Kevin, appreciate it sure.
