Speaker 1 (00:32):
Welcome to the Badger Pregame Show.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Here's the voice of Wisconsin Women's basketball, John Odius.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Two thirds of the Big Ten season is in the
books in County today. Just six conference games remain, including
just three more home games for Wisconsin. The Badgers are
at the Cole Center this afternoon, looking to play super
this Sunday against Illinois. It's time for a Big Ten
game before the Big Game, It's time for Badgers basketball.
And coming up on Tonight's Today's Pregame Show, we'll get
(01:03):
a scout of the align I with assistant coach fro Jerald.
I'll look inside the Badger numbers and the streak that
Sarah Williams has been on in the Badger Notebook, plus
a little bit later on a quick spin around the
Big Ten, A game that Badger fans are going to
want to know the final love. But when we come back,
we'll hear from Wisconsin head coach Marissa Mosley. This is
Badger Basketball from Deerfield. Get said for Big Ten Basketball.
(01:33):
The Badger's host Illinois, joined by Wisconsin head coach Marissa Mosley.
I want to start asking you about Carter McCrae. She
scored in double figures her last three, four of her
last five, and what ways have you seen her improved
throughout the course of this Big Ten season. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
I think early on in the Big Ten season it
was understanding, like the speed, physicality, and also you know,
teams understanding what it is that she wants to do.
And so I think she started to simplify some of
the things she's doing and also settled in a little bit.
And it's been really great to see because obviously having
(02:06):
her is another weapon on the floor is really beneficial
to our team.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
One other thing I think is a real weapon for
this team is the three point shooting. I know, eight
threes against USC you guys make six of them, but
just looking over the last three games, Wisconsin's averaging eight
made threes per game. That's up from your season average
of about six. How has those how have those three
pointers dropping through the bottom of the net kind of
impacted what teams try to do against you?
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Yeah, I think ideally you want to be able to
play inside outside, and you know, when we have had
just a huge post presence the last couple of years
with Sarah and then obviously Carter coming along and contributing
to that, it allows teams to really pack it into
the paint. And once you have players like Tests and
like Nad and like Lily who are hitting consistently from
(02:52):
beyond the arc, it opens up a lot of other things.
It even opens up leans for Ronnie indeed, to be
able to get down and make plays. So I think
it helps us to become a more complete team.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
And then the other thing, I'm guessing teams are probably
seeing that too, and they're saying, Hey, Tess Myers, Hey
Lily Kron, We're not going to even let you try
to get away a clean three.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, you know, I think, like you said, in our
USC game, we only took eight threes. We've been trying
to take in the twenties and so we made six
out of eight, so that's great. But we want, obviously,
if you get more opportunities and we're shooting such a
high percentage in that way, like we want to obviously
have more chances to put.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
The ball in the basket. Best luck today.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
All right, thank you so much, John.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
All Right, that's head coach Marissa Mosley. We will get
a scout of the a LINI coming up next. This
is Bacher's Basketball from Learfield. Welcome back in Madison, Rodgers
Coast STILLONDOI now joined by Wiscot's an assistant coach pro Gerald.
Time to get a scout of the ALIGNI. Now they
(03:50):
have two top twenty scorers in the Big Ten Conference.
I want to talk a little bit about each of them.
Let's start with Genesis Bryant. What do you see on
film about her?
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Yeah, very dynamic guard, three levels score she she kind
of makes them go along with Bostic. So she's definitely
a big part of the game plan today.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
And Kendall Bostik's the other player I'm talking about. What's
interesting I think about her is you just kind of
absorb her career she has I think over thirteen hundred
career points and over thirteen hundred career rebounds as well.
How important is that that rebounding for them from her.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Vital I mean, anytime you can get your team possessions,
you know, on the offensive and defensive end, that that's
vitally important. So her rebounding along with her scoring, as
you mentioned, is something that we really focused on. And
her and Brian are just a fantastic one two punch,
you know, one on the perimeter and one on the inside.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
So and Bostic is more versatile too.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
You know, she has an outside game, she can pick
and pop, shoots it well from you know, fifteen out
and then obviously her forcing the paint.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Yeah, one thing I think teams are maybe having to
focus in on more as far as Wisconsin's offense is
just three point shooting. I know over the last three
games it's about eight threes per game compared about six
throughout the course of the season. How does that factor in?
Speaker 5 (05:05):
Uh, you know, anytime we can we can you know,
not to only shoot the ball for get a lot
of makes from the perimeter and open up that inside
game for Sarah and Carter that that always fares well
for us. And in most cases the games that we've
shot it well on the perimeter, those have been our
most complete games.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, for the most part, so very important. All right, Well,
best of luck, Thank you. That's assistant coach froe Gerald
coming back with the Badger Notebook. Next, this is Badger's
Basketball from lear Field about the Cole Center. John Audius
with your time for the Badger's Notebooks. Wisconsin hosts Illinois.
Let's take a look at the all time series between
(05:44):
these two teams. The Badgers hold a narrow lead forty
two and forty record against the ALIGNI all time. Wisconsin
last one in this series that was a win in
Champagne last January sixty seven to sixty one. Meanwhile, the
Badger's and to bounce back from a loss against number
seven USC on Wednesday, eighty six to sixty four. Just
(06:07):
six games remain in the Big Ten season. The Badger's
currently in the number fourteen spot in the Big Ten standings.
We'll take a quick spinner on the Big Ten in
just a moment, but just keep an eye on Sarah
Williams today. Williams continues her great play for the Badger's
first team All Big Ten pick last season, has scored
in double figures eight straight games, averaging twenty one points
per game during that stretch. Also, Carter McCrae, the sophomore forward,
(06:28):
has scored in double figures three straight games for Wisconsin.
Keep it right here when we come back, look at
the Big Ten scoreboard and a quick spin around the
Big Ten. Next, this is Badger's basketball from Learfield and
welcome back cowards out of the Coal Center. John Audius
with you. Time for a quick spin around the Big Ten.
One game has gone final and fans are going to
(06:51):
want to hear this one. Udkers defeats per Due by
a final score of seventy eight to sixty nine. So
what does that mean for the Badgers and the Big
Ten standings? Remember the top fifteen teams make the Big
Ten Tournament this season. Rutgers now picks up its second win.
They're two and eleven. The Bachers currently have the fourteen
spot at two and ten, so Wisconsin and Rutgers each
(07:11):
with two wins, the Bachers would hold that tie breaker.
Then below them in the standings. Per Due now drops
to one and eleven, Penn State's one and eleven. Northwestern
is zero to ten. But speaking of the Lady Lions
and the Wildcats. Those two teams are squaring off at
last check in the fourth quarter. It's Northwestern seeking its
first win up on Penn State, fifty two to forty three. Elsewhere,
number twenty Michigan State. The Batger's next opponent, down ten
(07:34):
at home to Michigan. That one in the fourth quarter,
fifty four forty four in Minnesota with a twenty three
to twenty two second quarter lead at home against Indiana.
We'll take a break and come back with the starting
lineups and the opening tip off next. This is Badger's
basketball from Learfield. Now, welcome back to the Cole Center
Jennadius with you Pig ten women's basketball between Illinois and Wisconsin.
(07:57):
Let's take a look at the starting lineups first, and
head coach Seana Green, in her third season, team is
eighteen and five this year and eight and four in
the Big Ten. Genesis Bryant is a five to six
to fifty year player, leads the team in scoring at
fifteen for contest, and is coming off a twenty point
effort against Northwestern. Jasmin Brown Hager is a five to
nine sophomore, a transfer from Mississippi State. Scoring nine points
(08:21):
per game. Bryn schue Phill is a six to three forward.
The senior is the second leading rebounder for Illinois this
season at six rebounds per game. Adalia mackenzie is five
point ten in a senior guard from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota,
has over one thy three hundred career points as a
member of the Fight in A Line nine. And kend
O Bostik is a six to two post player fifth
(08:42):
year for Illinois. Eleven point two rebounds per game leads
the team this season. For the Wisconsin Batchers and head
coach Marissa Mosley eleven and twelve this season, they're two
to ten in Big Ten play. Carter McCray is a
six swan sophomore a transfer from Northern Kentucky. Is Wisconsin's
(09:03):
second leading scorer at just under ten points per game,
and she has scored in double figures for last three
in a row. Tess Myers is a five to nine
guard from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, shooting thirty nine percent from the
three point arc. She's taken the most threes and made
the most threes fifty five of one to forty three
this season of any Wisconsin Badger. Ronnie Porter is a
(09:25):
five foot two junior guard from Saint Paul, Minnesota, is
second in the Big Ten Conference averaging five assists per game.
She had four assists in the Badger's loss on Wednesday
to USC. Natalie Leitzinger is five foot eight and a guard.
The grad student from Monroe, Wisconsin, scores just shy of
eight points per game this season for the Wisconsin Badgers.
(09:49):
And rounding up the starting five for Marriss and Moseley's
team is Sarah Williams, six foot four junior is third
in the Big Ten at nineteen point one points per game,
second in the conference behind Bostic ten point six rebounds
per game. She's second as well in the Big Ten
with two and a half blocks per contest. She's coming
off a nineteen point effort in the Badgers lost to
(10:10):
seventh ranked USC here at the Cole Center on Wednesday night.
So it's the Badgers and the Aliini ready to square
off here on this Sunday afternoon, Wisconsin looking for its
second straight win in the series. These two teams met
in Champagne a year ago and it was Wisconsin coming
out on top over the ali and I sixty seven
(10:31):
to sixty one. So two thirds of the Big Ten
season is in the books. Six more games in conference
play remain until the Big Ten Tournament. The top fifteen
teams out of the eighteen to team Big Ten League
will get in Wisconsin. Currently one of those teams the
number fourteen spot. It's time for Illinois versus Wisconsin, and
(10:54):
the opening tip off is easily handled by Sarah Williams
backtaps it and here comes the Badgers left to right
to start off this Big Ten game here in Madison,
catching outside right. It's lightsinger screen set by Williams. Here's
net to the free throw line, looking inside and now
throws to her left. It's ipostcop by McCray, trying to
go inside to Williams tips it back out to McCray.
Plenty of time on the shot clock. Wisconsin can set
it up again if they need to. McCray finds porter
(11:16):
outside right eight on the shot clock, screened by Williams.
Porter going downhill, stopping at the free throw line. Now
throws to the short corner on the right baseline. Working
here's a turnaround shot by McCray right of the lane.
As the shot clock buzzer winds down and it's ripped
down by Bossick handle Bostick for Illinois over one three
hundred career rebounds, Illinois's all time leader in that category.
(11:37):
Bryant strong moved to the rim, comes up empty on
that driving attempt and it's grabbed by the Badgers quickly
to the front court corner. Three in the air for
Tess Myers, no good and the rebound corraled in the
corner by Williams. Fresh twenty on the shot clock for Wisconsin.
A minute gone by in the opening quarter. Nothing nothing
between the Badgers and the Ali nine quarter top of
(11:59):
the arc defend by Bryant, shot fox getting down to
seven now porter outside right, dancing pull up mid range,
don't missed it on the right side of the rim.
Bryant tracks it down up ahead. The brown Hagar makes
a move to the rim, lay up in with the
left hand from the left side. Jasmin brown Hager, the
five nine sophomore transfer from Mississippi State. First field goal
(12:20):
of the game. Here's Williams down low, goes up in
the air for a jump shot. Came down without passing
or shooting the ball. That's a travel kind of got
stuck in the air there with nowhere to go. And
it'll be Illinois basketball. As I mentioned the ELI nine,
eighteen and five of this season and eight and four
in the Big Ten. Wisconsin comes in eleven and twelve.
It's the game under five hundred with a two and
(12:41):
ten Big Ten mark. Here's Brown Hager. Double team by
the Badgers gives it out to Bryan standing at the motion.
W Now making her move, defended by Porter pass to
her right. It's caught by Mackenzie Lightsinger on her screen.
Mackenzie has some space, kicks it out to Boston ten
on the shot clock. Bryant outside left porter defense trying
to set the screen. Here is a mitterrange jumper by Bryant,
(13:04):
missed on the left side, though she trippled away from
the screen and missed the shot. Rebound with Scotson. Here's
Lightsinger pushing to the left corner. Myers feeds inside deep
on the left. Here's Williams trying to make a move.
Double team comes and a steal from behind picked up
by Brown Hager in a wide open runway for hers.
She'll lay it up an end four nothing, Illinois seven
five to play. First quarter. Lin and I scored the
(13:25):
first four points here of this game. As Lightsinger catches
on the right wing top caught by McCrae, darts it
over to the left. This is Porter defended by mckenti,
screen by Williams. Porter trying to sneak through the defense,
accelerates toward the him and scores with the right hand.
From the left side, Ronnie Porter's put the Batcher's on
(13:46):
the scoreboard for the first time. The Porter layup makes
it for to two. Illinois leading the ball Brown Hager
will run the point and she's defended by Tess Myers
out at the top of the key, screen by Vostick,
hands toft on the left side. Here's McKenzie runner in
the paint. No Good got her own rebound puts it
up on the right side, No Good too strong, and
right there is Sarah Williams rebounding for Wisconsin off the
(14:09):
Lightsinger front court three. No she was opened though, and
it's ripped down by Bostick. Illinois up four two, six
fifty one to play first quarter. Three on the left
rolls in for McKenzie. Adahlia McKenzie, a thirty one percent
three point shooter, makes the third a line I field
(14:30):
goal of the quarter, seven to two. Illinois six thirty
three to play in this first quarter. Porter, who is
the only field goal for Wisconsin outside left, dribbles to
the left baseline defended by Mackenzie, throws it over to
Williams wall fake. Williams tries to make a move, kicks
it back out corner. Here's a drive by Porter throwing
to the right corner. Leitzinger tries the three. It's no
(14:51):
good and over the back is McCrae trying to tap
that rebound to herself over the back of Genesis Bryant,
and that should be a foul against Carter McCray. It'l
Wisconsin's first team foul with six fifteen to play in
the first and it is called against McCrae, and that
is team fowl number one. Badger's one of six from
(15:18):
the floor, Illinois three out of seven from the field
to start. Bryan front court around Douglas in the paint,
finds Mackenzie at the big ten logo, kicks it back
out now. Brian tries it three just right into the
wheel and it rattles in it two for two from
downtown for Illinois, and it forces a quick Wisconsin timeout.
The Allianti on a six to nothing run in Illinois
leads Wisconsin by a score of ten to two, six
(15:40):
zho two to play in this first quarter back after
this break and this is Badger's Basketball from Learfield is
brought to you a part by Alliance Energy. Visit Alliant
Energy dot com to see how Alliance Energy invest in
diverse energy solutions for today and the future. John Audius
(16:01):
with you here at the Coal Center in Madison, one
of three home games remaining. If you're a Wisconsin Badger's
fan and having gotten out to a game here this season,
you're ready for a wide out coming up on the
twenty third of February at two pm, where your white
Badger gear and arrive early at the Coal Center to
celebrates Senior Day that's coming up on February twenty third,
(16:24):
when Wisconsin hosts Northwestern ten to two. Illinois leads Wisconsin
six pot two to play in quarter number one. The
Alini are four of eight from the floor, Wisconsin starting
off one of six, shooting ten to two. Illinois leads
on a six to nothing run. Here comes Wisconsin into
(16:48):
the front court with the dribbling of Natalie Leitzinger picks
up or dribble bounces high post to Williams. Fines Porter
prize a shot around the rim and it's no good.
Illinois ball McKenzie middle of the court, bounce down low,
Bostick lays it in easy lay up there for Kendall Bostick.
It's her first field goal attempted of the game. Williams
(17:10):
banging with Bostick down low. Williams tough move, missing it short,
but a foul called against the align. Nin ain't nothing.
Illinois run, but now Wisconsin and Sarah Williams, who trail
it by ten, will be at the free throw line.
(17:32):
Sarah Williams has scored in double figures twenty one times
this season for the Badgers through twenty three games, and
she's on a consecutive streak here of eight straight games
scoring in double figures free throw up and in for Williams.
During her last eight games, she's averaging twenty one points
(17:53):
per contest. Next one in for Sarah Williams. Two at
the free throw line. That stops eat nothing A line,
I run. I got it up to a ten point lead.
Illinois ball Brown Hager hits a three on the left
right in front of Porter, and Illinois has started off
(18:14):
hot from outside the three point arc. Three of three.
Williams underneath strong move knocks over the defense of Brown
Hagar as she flops down to the hardwood here at
the coal center, and an offensive fowl called against Williams.
Team foul number two against the Badgers. Illinois up fifteen
(18:35):
to four, largest lead of the game. Now it's eleven
five h five to play in the opening quarter. The
iliin I are six of ten from the flour Brown
Hager hand off hesitation drive by Mackenzie, loops it inside
Bostic fighting down low, reaching in as Krawn, and it'll
be a fowl called against Krown. Team fowl number three.
(19:02):
Krawn's first on the floor for the Badgers. Now it's
quarter Krawn, Williams, Myers and Douglas Bryant baseline jumper over
test Meyers senilate whistle and a fall call. This Bryant
missed the jumper from ten feet out on the right baseline,
(19:23):
and Myers will be called for putting her hand up
into the air trying to defend that shot. At least
that's just the way I looked to me. Four fifty
two to play in the first quarter, fifteen to four Illinois.
Here's Bryan at the free throw line. Illinois up now
sixteen to four. Largest lead of the game is to
(19:47):
make it a thirteen point lead, and it's in Illinois
double figure lead by thirteen. We've got four forty eight
to play in the first let me decide for the Badger.
I could comeback as Porter gets a screen, then spins
it pass over to Douglas, steers it off to the left.
Krawn skips it back over to the right. Porter Douglas
(20:09):
top drives to the right, Park passes to her left.
Krawn a catch and shoot three two strong. Bostick rebounds
Illinois ball left the right. Bryant throws to the left.
McKenzie got Douglas in the air, pull up left baseline
from ten feet out and it's in Aladelia. McKenzie twelve
(20:29):
and a half points per game for Illinois this season.
She gives the Aliini a nineteen to four lead, fifteen
point advantage. Williams down low deep on the right, throws
it back out to Myers, who has to chase it
down high right side next to the culver's logo on
the coal center here over to Porter left wing screen
set by Sarah Porter left corner trying to get out
(20:51):
of there with the dribble shot clocked at seven lobs
inside looking for Williams stolen by Bostick. Turnover. Wisconsin Badger's
coming off a season worse twenty four turnovers and the
loss of seventh three k usc on on Wednesday. Turn
it over here, three thirty six to play in the
quarter in the first and a drive by Bryant, and
(21:12):
the shot is no. Good bye Bryant, but a foul
called against the Badgers. Illinois had an eight oh rondo
busted out to a ten point lead. Now on a
seven nothing run and it's nineteen to four. So Genesis
(21:34):
Bryant at the free throw line eighty six percent free
throw shooter, she's third in the NCAA and three point
percentage or excuse me, a free throw percentage rather, she
makes her third straight in this quarter, four for four
from the line for Bryant. Three thirty five to play,
(21:55):
first quarter, twenty one to four, Illinois seventeen point advantage
for the align nine, just outside of the top twenty
five of the AP rankings. Here's a drive by Leitzinger
and her driving lamp comes up short from the right rebound.
Illinois Bryant front court, throws to a right, Mackenzie drops
it off inside, kick out over to Brown Hagar left baseline,
(22:18):
throws it back outside the arc to Wallace, back to
the corner, Brown Hager three. It's short. Krawn catches the
rebound Wisconsin Paul right to left. Lily Krown still with it,
tries to make him move on. Brown Hager got stopped.
Throws it to Myers, so tosses out to McCrae top
of the key. Two fifty eight to play, first quarter,
twenty one to four, seventeen point a line I lead.
(22:40):
Here's Douglas down low up with the shot no but
she was fouled the blocking foul call against the ALIGNI
down low. That's against Jasmin Brown Hagar and now Wisconsin
back to the free throw line where the Badgers are
two of two at the line. Today a nine nothing
(23:01):
ALIGNI run and the free throw is no good. Here's
the next one and that one's in. It's a stop.
The Illinois nine nothing run twenty one to five the Alini.
(23:28):
They've had an eight nothing run and now a nine
nothing run here in this first quarter. Two forty to play.
In the first shoop Hill with Tobia McCrae of Wisconsin.
Tom McKee McKenzie right down the middle of the lane
up and a jump ball, held ball possession, arrowed to
the A line I Tess Myers reaches in for Wisconsin
to tie up Ckenzie on the drive. Wisconsin hasn't hit
(23:51):
a field goal in five minutes, FYI Illinois. Five of
it's last six from the floor, eleven on the shot
clock for the aliini and bounced past tapped to the
floor by that picked up. Here's Brian trying to turn
the corner on light Singer top mode down low and
if I'll call it against Lightsinger, the shot was missed
down low by Genesis Bryant and that's going to put
(24:12):
the Aliinai back at the free throw line where they
are four to four at the line. As a team,
this Illinois team is the best in the Big Ten
from the Charity Stock stripe this season eighty percent as
a team with their free throw shooting and Bryant rattles
one in Genesis. Brian had an Illinois school record eighty
(24:37):
nine percent free throw percentage in the twenty twenty two
to twenty twenty three season. She shot eighty four percent
last year. She's at eighty six percent this season. Free
throws fall eleven to one eline I run. It's twenty
three to five, eighteen point lead over Wisconsin. With two
twenty six to play in the first quarter. Leitsinger motion
(24:58):
w for the batcher, she'll have to the point, throws
over to Kron on the left wing. Krawn trying to
get some space, defended tightly by Wallace Weltsy inside McCrae
down low. McCrae flips it up at a great move
by Carter McCrae down low for the Badgers. First field
goal in over five minutes for Wisconsin. Two minutes to
(25:21):
go in the first it's twenty three to seven Aliini.
McKenzie in the corner, tries to throw to her teammate.
Now the ball gets tipped out of bounds. And who
touched it last, that's the question. It'll stay with the
Aliini eat on the shock clock for Illinois to play.
(25:47):
Here in the first quarter, here's Bryant inside Bostick, easy
layup right around light Singer. Bostick hustles back to play
defense for the Aliini twenty five to seven Illinois, and
he want to play in the first Wisconsin with the rock.
Williams down low working on Boston back to the basket,
kicks out Myers. How about a three just right of center.
(26:09):
It's gonna bounce around the rim and fall through. Wisconsin's
first three pointer of the game comes with a minute
twenty four to play in the first quarter. Tess Myers
continues her hot shooting. She was four or four shooting
threes against USC on Wednesday. Bryers one of two and
(26:31):
this one. Here's Bryant right of the paint, fighting jumper
off the backboard. No, while tipped around round by the
ALIGNI now it's loose on the floor. Who has a
Mackenzie out to Bryant top side three? No boxing out
as Krown, but she lost the ball, could not get it,
and Krown saying, hey, I don't think I touched that.
(26:52):
Now one of the officials coming over to talk with
the official on the baseline. So Kron kind of bocks
out but didn't really go after the call as it
bounced out of bounds. And then I think Krawn's thinking, hey,
I didn't touch it. I'll just let it go. And
now they're having a conversation. They're going to change the call.
It'll be Wisconsin ball. Fifty five point nine seconds to
(27:15):
play in the opening quarter, twenty five to ten. Illinois.
They've led by as many as eighteen. They're up by fifteen.
Now double screen for a light Singer on the right
spins it back to kron A three is in the air.
But before that, an offensive foul on the screen by
Sarah Williams. I'm saying, what did I do? Saying it
(27:39):
took a little step off to the right to get
the screen a legal screen. Forty five point six seconds
to play in the quarter. That's the Badger's fifteen foul.
Illinois front court with the dribble. That's the second unfortunately
against Sarah Williams too. Standing at the motion w Bryant
(28:03):
switching between the right and left hand on the dribble.
Now she'll dribble out to the right side. Fighted by
lightsinger shot clocks at eight on top to Wallace working
on Douglas Wallace. Tough move through traffic. It's gonna fall
and a foul with the shot clock under five, But
what's the call a travel? A whistle for a walk
and Wisconsin catches a break twenty point seven seconds so
(28:30):
Wisconsin can hold for the final shot of quarter number one.
It's twenty five to ten. The Alini Porter walks across
the timeline for the u W fifteen on the quarter clock,
still taking your time ten seconds now, al Porter starts
to make a move down to seven. Ronnie's still with
(28:51):
the rock dribbling. Screened by McCrae. Porter throws off to
the right down to one. Here's Lightsinger trying to find
some space. Twice the right hand on a three rolls off.
No good, but she tried it with the right hand.
She's a lefty. That was something else, but great if
she knocked that down sean, no good. Quarter's done and
(29:14):
Illinois has a fifteen point lead over the Badgers after
the first ten minutes. It's Illinois twenty five, Wisconsin ten
back with the second quarter next, this is Badger's basketball
from Learfield Book ser Control Center John Audius. When you
today came right to buy rail transport offering exceptional transportation services,
(29:38):
truck driving jobs, CDL training, and so much more across Wisconsin.
Learn more at rail dot Jobs and that's spelled roe
h L. So the Badgers trailed the aligne I by
a score of twenty five to ten. After quarter number one,
Wisconsin ends up three of twelve from the field. That's
twenty five percent. They made one of six threes seventeen percent,
(30:02):
Illinois eight out of fifteen from the four fifty three percent.
They knocked down their first three threes, their three of
five from the three point arc, and six of six
at the free throw line, and it's a twenty five
to ten lead. They led by as many as eighteen
points in that first quarter. Just a slow start for
the Badger's offense. And it's you know, I was talking
(30:22):
about three point shooting with both Marissa Mosley and assistant
coach Pro Jarro in the pregame, and at something Wisconsin
has been doing a better job of. It's hitting three
point shots, averaging eight threes made per game over their
last three games, up from their season average of just
over six. And you know, they only took eight threes
against uscmate, six of them already six attempted in this
(30:44):
first quarter against Illinois, but unfortunately just one of six.
Loan three pointer by Tess Myers, She's Wisconsin's leading scorer
after the first ten minutes, fifteen point definicit for the Badgers.
Myers throws on top to Douglas lobs over the top
of the defense mcraye de bon Bostik mccrage as the
backboard no picked up by Bryant, passed to the front court,
(31:05):
caught far sideline by Wallace. The Bostick hands back off
the Wallace one dribble launches for three. No good. McCray
tried to grab that walk mackenzie came out of there
to swipe it away. Carter McCrae doing a good job
rebounding for the Mattress this season. Seven boards per contest.
Just cannot collect that defensive rebound Bostick from the left
elbow from McCray. No good, it's short rebound Wisconsin. Porter
(31:29):
scoops to Douglas out on top over the lights ander
on the left almost have been it gone by in
the second quarter. Now Porter has it right wing McKenzie
defense for the ALIGNI slip screen by McCray still holding
the basketball is Porter hands off to Douglas. Number ten
has O ten on the shot clock. Douglas slices through
the lane up with the left hand on a drive.
(31:50):
No good. Bostick drips it down the line front court.
Bryant over there on the left Lightsinger not letting her
go to her right, so Bryan then drives to the
left baseline, throws over to Wallace right of the paint.
Wallace hop's gipping to jump toward the rim, go boxing out.
McCrae has it for Wisconsin. Porter moves front court. Porter
(32:13):
a drive and bouncing down low to Hallie Douglass. Great
court vision from Ronnie Porter to find her teammate. There
for two Porter five assists per game for Wisconsin this season.
That's second in the Big Ten. Bryant throws off to
the left, shoot Hill to the corner. Here's McKenzie mid
(32:37):
range after a drive, pull up good twenty seven to twelve,
Illinois with the lead. Wisconsin at the ball eight minutes
to go second quarter. Douglas left hand dribble, tucks pass
over to Porter with Kenzie defense. Porter trying to bounce
for McCray on a pick and roll and stolen. Here's
(32:59):
Brian around front court to the right. Album. Now Myers
picks up Bryant. We'll let her go left. Ryan throws
back to her left to Bostic, then tries to chase
it down and get the pass. Instead, the pass goes
off to the right to shoop Hill, and shoop Hill
makes the three for Illinois and in time out taken
(33:20):
by Marissa Mosley and the Badgers with seven twenty nine
to play in the second quarter. It's the fourth three
point make for the Illini and Illinois leads it by
a score of thirty to twelve. Back after this time out,
this is Badgers basketball from Learfield. An eighteen point lead
(33:48):
for Illinois. John Augus Wit due back at the Cole
Center in Madison as the Badgers and the final LINEI
square off. Wisconsin looking for its second straight win in
this series, but they'll have some to make up here.
Throughout the course of this one seven to twenty nine
to go in the second quarter, Illinois fifty percent from
the floor ten of twenty, including four three point makes
(34:10):
four of seven from the three point line. That's a
fifty seven percent clip for the Aliini. Meanwhile, Wisconsin's shooting
twenty seven percent from the field, four out of fifteen
and one of six from the three point arc. Loan
three today has been by Tess Myers. Illinois off to
a five to two start on the second quarter score
(34:31):
board after outscoring the Badgers by fifteen after the first
ten minutes. Remember, Sarah Williams of Wisconsin, the Badger's leading
scorer and the third leading scorer in the Big Ten,
is on the floor two points, but also playing with
two personal fouls. So that's something to keep an eye on,
(34:53):
especially with the amount of time we have here in
the second quarter. With seven and a half minutes to
play in the second or is lightsinger outside right for
the batcher's top side, Now over to Porter on the
left to Williams hands back after Ronnie the lightsinger now
to the corner. It's Krawn. Kraun tried to drive behind
(35:13):
her back, driving baseline on. Brian tries the reverse layup. Oh,
what a move from Willie Koran. As Koran goes reverse
for two. Look behind her back in the corner, tightrope
bet baseline. Great drive by kron six point fifty five
to play. Second quarter. It's thirty to fourteen, Illinois leading
the ball. Bostick throws it over to Wallace, return pass
(35:36):
over to Bostick now left side of the court. Bostick
left the lane up, backing down Williams left shoulder turned
right hand hooking on't fall chased down by shoe Hill
Fresh twenty for the ALII. Brian throws over to Bostick.
She'll watch for three and it's annual Kendall Bostick from
the top of the key. She's scored in double figures
(35:59):
eight straight games for the ALIGNI and after that three
pointer for Bostic. She's at seven six eighteen in county
to play second quarter. It's thirty three fourteen. Then I
quick shot by Sarah Williams just right of the lane,
and Williams connects from twelve feet out. Badger's leading scorer.
(36:21):
Knows that she needs to be assertive on the offensive
end for the Bachers to get this offense flowing, and
I s she did right there. Austic rows over the
head of Bryant, but it's grabbed by Bryant outside left.
Now packing down Porter all the way from the three
point arc. Still back, he's spinning on Tworter left of
the lane. Shot will not go but a foul call Genesis.
(36:44):
Bryant just decided to post up Ronnie m Roddy Porter
rather all the way outside the ark in the three
point line. Brian at five foot six quarter listed at
five foot four, but she says she'll go five with
two this year. She knows she got a little extra
(37:04):
in the media guide. Here's Bryant free throw up and
in Genesis. Bryant has now reached double figures for the ALIGNI.
Next free throw is up and in six straight games.
Now for Brian in double figures, number eighteen this season,
and the ali I lead the Badgers by a score
of thirty five to sixteen. Largest lead of the game.
(37:25):
It's at nineteen points. Here's a left base line drive
by Krown double team. She'll bounce back out to nobody.
It's that it's picked up by Vostaa Steel hands off
to Bryant. She'll run to the front court, cut to
the middle of the court, stop with the free throw line,
try to hand it off to her teammate Brown Hager,
who does and kind of poked Whitzinger in the in
the throat. No call there, I'm not sure if flight
(37:47):
Singer is still touching her throat. I don't know if
it's an elbow or the ball still touching up around
her neck. Eight on the shot clock left dark, Bryant
tries a three over Spotsofsky no and fighting for it.
Shoot pill. She got it over William so the rebound
offensive board for the ALIINEI five minutes to go, second quarter,
thirty five sixteen, Illinois over Wisconsin Bryan around a shoot
(38:08):
pill screen inside Bostick, left shoulder, turned right hand half
foot falls thirty seven sixteen, then I twenty one point lead.
Williams catches down load on the left up over Bostic.
No but a follow. It's twenty one point a line
I lead. But it'll be Sarah Williams stepping to the
(38:30):
free throw line for Wisconsin. Ohne I led by his
vidia's eighteen in the opening quarter, and now Johann Spassowski
will head back to the bench for the Badgers. The
freshman it's Massowski being replaced by Carter McCrae. S Massowski
from Belgrade, Serbia, scores about two points per game this
(38:52):
season for the Badgers. Here is the free prow from
Sarah Williams and it falls Williams. Add to her totals.
Make said a thirty seven to seventeen game. Make it
thirty seven to eighteen after two free throws from the
Badger's needing scorer this season, Sarah Williams thirty seven to eighteen.
Williams now has six points. Illinois has the basketball for
(39:15):
thirty five to play in the second quarter, Deannas and
Menez on the court for the Badgers defending Bryant. The
paulhandle ro Wallace on the right Lightsinger defense tightly. It's
a mackenzie on top shot clocks at ten Williams hazard
twenty five feet away from the room. Here's a drive
by McKenzie off the backboard, missed it. Leitzinger grabs it
and gets pushed down to the floor. Foul call against
(39:37):
the Aliini, and I think they're going to get very
Wallace with that free throw. And for Illinois that is
team foul number two four fourteen to play. Second quarter,
thirty seven to eighteen the Aliini. Here's McCray on top,
(40:00):
spins to Kraan, throws to her right. There's Leitzinger Kraun
top of the yard one dribble, steers it over to
the left of Jimenez. Now left baseline. Here is Williams
on Bostick Sarah top shot with two on the shot
clock on the left baseline. Short jumpers no good. Bostick
(40:21):
secures the rebound. That's her fourth, make it her fifth
of the game. Three thirty to go before the half
of Kenzie at the free throw line inside of Bostick.
McCrae knocks it to the floor. McCray comes out of there,
finds Jimenez. There comes Jimenez for the Badgers, flying into
the front court off to Krawn four to three. Now
miss it on the right wing. Kenzie grabs a miss
(40:42):
for the ALIGNI, races front court inside, Bostick down deep
on the right, throws it back out shoot pillar three.
Amenez flies in, tries to put a hand in the
face of the shooter. No good with the shot ball
loose in the lane, picked up by the ALIGNI three
oh seven in county to play. In the second quarter,
Illinois thirty seven with the lead, Wisconsin eighteen will defend
(41:06):
as Boston has it right albu Lacree hand in her face.
Bostick tries a jumper anyway, It's too strong and shoot
hill offensive rebound. Another possession for the ALIGNI out rebounding
the Badgers on the offensive class seven to one. Now
in the game, Wallace down low elbow to the face
(41:27):
of Leitzinger in an offensive foul called against the ALI nine.
That's against Wallace. That is her second team fowl number
three against the Aliini to thirty nine. To play. Second quarter,
thirty seven to eighteen, Illinois over Wisconsin. The Badgers haven't
scored in the last two minutes. In four seconds in counting,
(41:54):
Illinois is led by as many as twenty one. Here's
Jimenace for Wisconsin left wing screen by Williams, pull up
fifteen foot or d dot it jumpers in by Jimenez
to twenty to play. Second quarter, seventeen point lead for
the ALIGNI into the front court. It's Bryant I left side,
(42:15):
left hand dribble surveying the Badger's defense. Amenas defense screened
by Bostick right now has it top of the key,
bounces to the left elbow, heres a drive and racing
to the rim and scoring with the right hand as
Mackenzie twelve and a half points per game this season.
Mackenzie no doubt or right to the rim. Now it
posts on the right. It's Williams for the Badgers on
(42:36):
Bostick short jumper in the paint, missed ball out of bounce.
It's going to stay with Wisconsin. Last touched by the
ALIGNI on the baseline. One fifty to play before halftime,
nineteen point Illinois lead at thirty nine to twenty Jimenez
(42:58):
on a double screen top of the key. Man miss
down the lane, pretty moved, miss it with the right
hand picked up Illinois transition time for the Aliini. They're
on a three on two. McKenzie deep have a left
driving missing and there's Lightsinger grabbing it for the Badgers.
Light Singer out to Myers on the right arc feeds
Williams mid post right, kicking it out to d over
(43:20):
to Lightsinger left side. Sooner Natalie Lightsinger drills the triple
for the Badgers. Second three point make for Wisconsin in
this game. A minute fifteen to go before halftime. Stop
here in another bucket would be big approaching a minute
to play Vostik top of the key jump past to
the left. Here is at three by McKenzie and she
(43:42):
answers the light Singer at three with a three of
her own. Under a minute to go second quarter, forty
two to twenty three to Illinois. On top of the Badgers.
Here's said men is trying to go downhill, pushes off
with the off hand on the drive. It's an offensive foul.
Absorbing the foul is mackenzie. Offensive foul by Jimenez. Forty
(44:08):
six and a half seconds to play here in quarter
number two, Illinois will let the basketball roll right to
the center court stright before Bryant picks it up. Illinois
gonna take its time thirty eight seconds on the game clock,
(44:29):
twenty one on the shot clock. Nineteen point lead for Illinois.
Bryant hands off Mackenzie outside right out on top Allen,
who's into the game now the shoot pill high post
inside Bostic left hand down low the left, No, it's
the shot clock is winding down now the Badgers can
(44:50):
hold for the final shot. Thirteen seconds to play in
the quarter, forty two to twenty three Illinois and Met
has has it was six seconds top of the a.
Met is still with it on McKenzie driving him. Men
is all the way to the man. She sneaks it
through and the quarter buzzer bijanis Jimenez puts it in
(45:11):
second gear and scores down low and the Badgers and
the half with the bucket and after two quarters now
from the Coal center, it's Illinois forty two Wisconsin twenty five.
Ali and I outscored the Badgers seventeen to fifteen in
(45:34):
the second quarter. Well, coming up at the half, I'll
run through these numbers for you, both team stats and
individual take a look at the Big Ten scoreboard as well.
But when we come back next, my halftime interview with
Wisconsin's digital content creator Tanner Barnes. That interview coming up
at the half next and this is Badger Basketball from.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Learfield Wisconsin Women's Basketball. He is brought to you by
a Lion Energy. Alliant Energy is powering beyond for you
and by you w helped sports Medicine treating the Badgers,
treating you.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
This is the Badger Halftime Show.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
And it's halftime today in Madison at the Cole Center
as Illinois leads Wisconsin by a halftime score of forty
two to twenty five. Unranked Illinois up by seventeen, although
they are a team receiving votes in this week's EP
Top twenty five, led by as many as twenty one
in the first half time. For today's halftime interview and
(46:37):
before this game this afternoon, I was able to catch
up with Wisconsin's digital content creator Tanner Barnes and find
out just how he helps out the Badgers. Here's our
halftime interview at the half of Wisconsin's digital content coordinator
Tanner Barnes. Now in his second season here with the
University Wisconsin women's basketball team. So can you describe to
our listeners what your role as digital content coordinator is
(46:58):
with the team.
Speaker 6 (47:00):
Well, Sarah caused me the camera guy, So I think
that's the simplest way to put it. Is anything video
and photo related with the team. So social media, recruiting
stuff for the video board in the game. All those
videos are I say, like ninety percent from me and
then photos sometimes on social media from myself as well,
and then a lot of recruiting photos as well.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
Yeah. So I mean I was thinking about your role,
and you control so much of the look of this
team that other people see on social media. What's what's
that responsibility like having that?
Speaker 6 (47:31):
It's actually a lot of fun because you know, I
want to show off the team and the players in
the best life possible. So that could be you know,
how they look, or it could be down to you know,
making them, you know, look well with the stuff that's
happened to in game or off the court. So it's
just nice to show them off and you know, show
them off in the best way possible.
Speaker 3 (47:49):
You know, one thing I think people don't realize is,
you know, they'll watch a recap perhaps that you make
after a victory, and they'll watch they'll be like, that
was fun. I took four minutes of that of my
time today to watch that. But for you on the
other side, how long does how long putting these videos
together take? Sometimes?
Speaker 6 (48:05):
For you, I mean, if you want to count the
game itself, I mean it starts ninety minutes out starting
to film the team warm up and you know, in
the locker room, and then then the whole two hour
game roughly. But then i'd say, on average, about five
to six hours after, and I usually try to do
it right away. That way, I know all the players
are fresh in my head. I know exactly how the
(48:25):
VI felt, so how can I recreate that vibe. I
don't want to wait too long, so I would say
like some late nights. Definitely, we have late games, and
I'm up to about three in the morning working on
the recap.
Speaker 3 (48:36):
But I think it's worth it.
Speaker 6 (48:37):
Like I said, it stays fresh in my memory and
I can keep the same energy I felt during the
game and hopefully put that into the video. So for
people who maybe didn't watch the game, they can feel
like what it would have been if they.
Speaker 3 (48:46):
Were there, okay with Tanner Barnes here at they have
he's the Wisconsin's digital content coordinator. Now, speaking of some
of these videos, I notice if you go look at
the Wisconsin social media right now women's basketball team, there's
a video of last game against USC but the view
looking straight down at the Cole Center court shot from
above here at the Coal Center. What's the background behind
getting that shot in that idea?
Speaker 6 (49:07):
So, even though I'm from Virginia, all Washington sports teams
except when it comes to basketball, I grew up a
Rondo fans. I'm a big Celtics fan, and their social
media team, if you have not seen it, for the last.
Speaker 3 (49:18):
Year and a half now, has been absolutely crushing it.
Speaker 6 (49:21):
And they did something very similar, and I just wanted
to in my own way create it with our team,
and so got the keys to the catwalk and set
up a go pro. So it was a lockdown shot
the whole time, and that way I had the whole
you know, half of the floor covered, I wouldn't miss anything,
and I didn't have to touch it in a whereby
that could take my camera and film some different stuff.
(49:41):
But then I always had that shot as well. They'll
give me like a different, unique look.
Speaker 3 (49:45):
So you're not up there holding this thing's locked in
by itself. You set it up, then you leave. There's
two cameras.
Speaker 6 (49:51):
One one was locked in and then one I had
I myself, so that that was a little more zoomed
in kind of on whoever had the ball, where the
other one was locked down, and just wild the whole
half court that way.
Speaker 3 (50:01):
Everything I didn't need to be there because I was
always in shot. Pretty wild to be that high up
looking at the game.
Speaker 6 (50:07):
It's a little nerve wracking at first. Took me a
quarter a quarter and a half to calm down a
little bit, a little little shaky than normal when I'm filming. Yeah,
just because I'm not even afraid of heights and just
you don't want something to fall or saying this, Yeah,
I still love nerve rakiing.
Speaker 3 (50:22):
See what we're talking about. Check out Wisconsin women's basketball
social media on Instagram, on x on Facebook. Tanner, thanks
for the time, Yeah, thank you. That's Sander Barnes, Wisconsin's
digital content coordinator. Back with more than half after this.
This is Badger basketball from Learfield Today forty two to
(50:42):
twenty five Illinois leads Wisconsin at the break. Taking a
look at the halftime numbers, the aline I forty five
percent from the four fourteen of thirty one, Wisconsin shooting
thirty eight percent nine out of twenty four Illinois six
first half three six out of eleven. That's fifty five
percent Wisconsin two of eight twenty free throw line perfect
for the Big Tens. Leader in team free throw percentage
(51:05):
eight of eight Wisconsin five of six. Rebounding to Illinois,
it's been part of the difference nineteen to twelve on
the glass, including the offensive glass seven to two Illinois
that's led to five nothing the lead in second chance
points in a paint, both teams have scored ten fast
break Illinois plus six at six nothing. First half turnovers
(51:25):
eight for the Badgers in the first half three for Illinois,
and a distinct advantage in points off turnovers for the
Illini as well at eleven to two team blocks. Neither
team has a block so far in the first two quarters.
Four steals for the Illini, one for Wisconsin. Ten assists
for Illinois as a team four for the Badgers. Wisconsin
(51:47):
has not led in this game. Illinois has led by
as many as twenty one that came midway through the
second quarter. Right now at the half, then I lead
it by a score of forty two to twenty five.
Coming up next to look at the individual numbers, this
is Badgers basketball from Learfield, Illinois is a half forty
(52:11):
two five a line eye over the Badgers. Illinois looking
to move to nine and four in the Big Ten,
the Badgers looking for a three to ten record in
the conference standings. Meanwhile, Wisconsin is now tied in the
win column at least with Rutgers, after the Scarlet Knights
be to produce seventy eight to sixty nine. Today, Northwestern
(52:32):
wins for the first time sixty nine sixty three over
Penn State, I should say for the first time in
conference play. So what does that mean. It means the
Badgers and Scarlett Knights each have two wins. Wisconsin's still
in that fourteen spot top fifteen to make the Big
Ten tournament. It means Penn State is one and eleven.
It means purdues one and eleven in Northwestern is now
(52:53):
with one win as well. So the Badgers just trying
to fight off Rutgers, Penn State, Purdue Northwestern down the
stretch to be in that top fifteen. All right. Let's
take a look at the halftime individual numbers. First, for Illinois,
Mackenzie has twelve points to lead the way, eleven from Bryant,
eight of eight from the three throw line for Genesis Bryant,
(53:14):
nine points and five rebounds for Bostic. Brown Hager has
seven to three for stoop Hill. Wisconsin's leading scorer is
Sarah Williams four verse six coming in the second quarter.
She's secured two rebounds for the Badgers. Four points for
deannisin menez All coming in that last quarter. Then it's
three for Meyers, she's one of two from Downtown, three
for Hallie Douglas, three for Natalie Leitzinger. She's one of
(53:35):
four from Downtown. McCray has two points, two rebounds, and
Lily Kron has two points two Ronnie Porter with two points,
one assist in one rebound in the first half. It'll
be a big second half effort here coming up for
the Badgers if they want to pick up win number
three of the Big Ten season. And we'll have more
after this. This is Badger basketball from Learfield forty twenty five.
(54:11):
Illinois leads Wisconsin third quarter moments away from beginning here
today at the Pool Center. The Badgers playing the final
six games of the Big Ten season before the Big
Ten Tournament starts in early March in Indianapolis. And this
is the first of six to close out the conference campaign,
one of the three home games remaining for Wisconsin. Yeah,
(54:35):
Badger fans, it's gonna be a wide out. It'll be
Senior Day already coming up on February twenty third against Northwestern.
If you want tickets, check out UW Badgers dot com.
Here we go. It is the third quarter underway, with
the Illini holding possession of the basketball. It's Kendal Bostick.
The dribble to McKenzie. McKenzie sprints down the middle of
(54:57):
the paint, kickout to Bostic. Top side two is in
top of the key of foot inside the three point arc.
It's Kendall Bostick drilling it. She has now reached double
figures for the ninth straight game. Illinois leading scorer at
sixteen per game this season, she has eleven. Ronnie Porter
two points in the first half of the Badger's point
(55:18):
guard defended by mackenzie, screen by Williams. Porter trying to
get around nothing there. She'll skip it to the near side,
caught by Lightsinger. Shot clocks at eight bouncing. Here's Williams.
I post bounces inside from her craze. She can't get
it to go into the lap of porter. Out to
Myers on top. Now to Lightsinger, back inside, Williams off
the backboard. No bald tip get picked up by the aligne.
(55:42):
Front court. It's Bryant emphasis. Bryant eleven points in the
first half of the ALIGNI are on a screen by
shoe Pill. Bounces back to shoe Pill top of the keys.
Minute gone by. Third quarter Illinois forty four, Wisconsin twenty five.
Bryan dribbling outside right, hands off Brown Haggar with the
rock to the free throw line. Back out to Bryant
(56:04):
Meyers defense. Bryant sneaks through the matcher's defense, throws one
off the backboard. No Leitzinger gathers issues falling backwards, tips
it out to McCray and here comes Wisconsin to the
front court. Eight and thirty to go. Third quarter. Sconson's
offense needs to start going here down low. It's Williams.
No but a foul right lock shot missed by Sarah
(56:28):
Williams and shows step to the free throw line for
the uw F. Wisconsin comes in averaging sixty six points
per game this season. That's seventeenth in the Big Ten,
Illinois seventy two per game. But the difference real difference
is the Aliinai's defense, Illinois's fourth best and fewest points allowed.
It's sixty per game right now, holding that Badger's offense
(56:51):
to twenty six. After the free throw from Williams, next
one is up and end throws made by Sarah Williams.
She has eight points, leading Wisconsin with eight seventeen to play.
Third quarter, it's forty four to twenty seven. The ALIGNI
(57:14):
Tom mc kee Brown Hagar left her laying hands off.
Now mckenson defended by light se geared to the corner.
Boston tries at three hilp in the right corner, secured
by McCray. Seven boards per game for Carter McCrae. Now
Porter has it front court for the Baschers on He's
second in the Big Ten and assists per game. Finds
McGray top side. McCray Downhill throws it up near the basket,
(57:38):
but it's actually grabbed by an ALIGNI player as well
Shore and then Illinois throws it out of bounce, so
Wisconsin catches a break. There's Porter outside left around the
screen by Williams. Porter the runner no good in the paint.
(57:58):
Rebound Bryant right to left with the Aliini front court
for Genesis. Bryan Or on a Bostic screen has it
at the free throw line, throws back to a right,
launching a three as Mackenzie missing it short off the
right side of the room. Wisconsin ball forty four to
twenty seven, Illinois leading seven to twenty three to play.
Third quarter. Pray left in the lane, sizing down, shooting.
(58:19):
Bilman throws it over over the light, Singer at with it.
Eitzinger leaves it over to Porter Quarter has it right corner,
pushes it over to mccraye top of the key. McCray
inside of Williams shot, locked out of ounds by Bostick
with eight on the shot clock. Kendall Vostik defending Sarah Williams.
Pretty well, it'll be Wisconsin ball, though Badger's zero for
(58:47):
five from the floor. To start the third Bitsinger cuts
us Heightsinger makes her move, slice scene through traffic, falls
hard to the floor. This is the shot picked up Illinois.
They throw it into the front court and there is
Bostick all alone laying it up and in and a timeout.
(59:10):
Illinois beats Wisconsin down the floor and Bostick lays it
up and in for two. She's got thirteen and the
aline I lead the Badgers forty six to twenty seven.
Timeout Wisconsin nineteen point Illinois lead with six fifty two
to play in the third. This is Badgers basketball from Learfield.
(59:36):
Forty six twenty seven. Illinois leads Wisconsin with six fifty
two to play in quarter number three. John Audius with
you from the Cole Center. As Wisconsin looking too even
its overall record at twelve and twelve with a win today,
trying for win number three in the Big Ten season,
currently fourteen spot in the Big Ten standings, they're half
game up on Rutgers, who's in number fifteen at fifteen spot,
(01:00:00):
the final Big Ten Tournament spot with two wins as well,
but the Badgers do have a head to head against Rutgers,
so keep that in mind as far as any potential seating.
Six games left in the Big Ten season, the Badgers
oh of six from the floor in the third, Illinois
two out of five, and the Elini have outscored the
Badgers four to two. On the third quarter scoreboard. Ronnie
(01:00:28):
Porter front court hands off to Jimenez. She had four
points in the second quarter. Right of the paint, kicks
out to McCray in the corner. Out of Porter on
top inside feed, there's a shot by Williams. No, she
fights and craps her own miss and lays it up
and in deep on the right. Sarah Williams staying with
her shot, getting two out of it. Forty six twenty nine.
(01:00:48):
Illinois leading the ball six twenty five to go. A
third quarter with Pansy trying to turn the corner in Leipziger,
she won't let it happen. Short corner jumper now of
Bostic shots missed, quarter tracks it down for Wisconsin. Front court.
Porter right at the paint throws to her left. It's
Williams on the floor with a couple of dribbles. Williams
(01:01:09):
download on Bostic, No but a follow up, so Sarah
Williams go to the free throw line. Now for the Badgers,
it's about an eighty percent free throw shooter. This year.
(01:01:32):
She has reached double figures for the ninth straight game.
Free throw up and in for Williams She's now got
eleven nine straight games scoring in double figures twenty second
time this season for Williams with ten or more in
a game, and that one's perfect forty six thirty one
(01:01:53):
fifteen point deficit for the u W twelve points. Now
for Williams, She's eight for eight from the free throw line.
McKenzie outside left a menace defense for Wisconsin. Here's McKenzie
a drive to the free throw line, loops it out
to the right shoe pill for three skims off the rim,
ball tipped into the air, track down jmenezs to the
middle of the court. Cavena still with the rock, gives
(01:02:14):
it up to Lightsinger steers it in a corner. Porter
drops it off inside. McCrae deep on the left, spinning
on shoe Pill tries the wind. Don't know. I'm dismissed
it rebound Bostic. We feed up the left side line
for Brown Hager. She has it pull up big ten
logo jump or no good off the hands of Porter,
out of bounce Illinois ball. The Eline nine have made
(01:02:38):
one of its last seven from the floor. Five twenty
six to play third quarter. Bryant right wing a ball
fake a drive, she falls to the floor, finds Bostic
sho'll hoist for three no off the right side of
the rim, picked up Porter four three bounds of the
(01:02:58):
game for Ronnie Court for quarter. Scoops off to the left,
Himenez has it a Menez gives it up to McCrae
steers it off to the right side. It's quarter on
the arc high post caught by Williams long eighteen footer
or short call track to the right sideline by the Alini.
Four to fifty six to play. Third quarter, Illinois with
(01:03:20):
the lead in the ball of by fifteen and a
pass in ten for Boski goes out of bounce. Wisconsin ball.
We've got a time out on the floor. Four point
fifty to play in quarter number three. It's Illinois forty
six forty six Wisconsin thirty one. And this is Bacher's
basketball Fromlearfield. Today's game brought to you by the tidal
(01:03:51):
products of Wisconsin Athletics Group, pub Lotza, mots of pizza,
Old Dutch chips and Pepsi. Forty six to thirty one,
Illinois Wisconsin with four to fifty to play in the
third quarter. Although Illinois is just one of its last
eight and has it scored in the last two minutes. Defensively,
they're doing a number to the Badgers today. As I
(01:04:11):
mentioned the thirty one points on the scoreboard so far
for Wisconsin will score sixty six per game, and Illinois
has limited the Badgers to just twenty nine percent shooting.
Badgers come in fourteenth in the Big Ten Conference with
a forty three percent overall field goal average Under thirty
(01:04:32):
so far today and one of ten from the field
in the third quarter is not helping those numbers, although
the Badger's defense has picked it up in the quarter two,
holding Illinois to just two of nine shooting four to
fifty to go third quarter. Wisconsin is seeking win number
three of the Big Ten campaign. Remember the Badgers season
(01:04:54):
ago won six times in the conference. They were six
and twelve, made it to the Wnit lost in the
Great Eight to Saint Louis. Now two and ten and
Big Ten plays so far this season with six games remaining.
Whit Singer outside left for the Badgers, defended by Bryant,
drops it off inside left. The lane jumper rolls in
for Sarah Williams Now. Just like that, Wisconsin is on
(01:05:18):
a six nothing run jumper by Williams and the Batchers
are down by thirteen. Here's Mackenzie right elbow. He gives
it back over to brown Hagar. Now to the corner.
Wallace bounces for Bostick low left. Bostick trying to bounce
to the paint looking for brown Hager. It is off
(01:05:38):
of Brownhager's hands and out of bounds. Okay, Wisconsin can
add on to this six nothing run. Bacher's starting to
put something together here with four oh seven to play
in the third that can cut it to a ten
point game with a three pointer or a three point play.
Here's Leitzinger the top of the key, cross to turn
the corner on Bryant can't do it, and to Williams
(01:05:59):
to try to bounce inside, and it's kicked by Boston Frush.
Twenty on the shot clock for Wisconsin. Six nothing run
by the Badgers over the last two minutes and forty seconds.
If you are wondering about a three, Wisconsin has made
just two of eight three pointers so far in the game.
Twenty five percent. Great catches the inbounds pass gives the
(01:06:26):
Lightsinger guides it over to hymn Is out on top
to McCrae over to the left and Porter shot. Clock's
getting close to ten stream. McCrae. Porter has the basketball
fighting amongst the trees, driving right to the rim and
scoring with the right hand. It's Ronnie Porter for two.
Wisconsin's down by eleven. It's an eight nothing Badger's run
(01:06:49):
three twenty seven to go. Third quarter, shoot Pill hands
off on the left arc. It's McKenzie with the rock
to Bryant. Here's Porter defending Bryant, drives to a left
download him Kenzie lay up up and end. McKenzie stinks
by the Badger's defense and stops Wisconsin's eight nothing run.
(01:07:10):
Three h six ago. Here's Williams down low. Williams tough
shot deep on the left mist it tipped out, picked
up Illinois and now Giannisimenez falls down hard to the
floor at mid court. Here's a three on the other
side by Illinois and it's hit by Wallace in the corner.
And now Jimenez still hobbled for the time being. Looked
(01:07:33):
like at one point she was holding her ankle, but
now she's kind of like, I don't know if it's
her right hand. She keeps shaking her hand. She want
I got a knocked her on a couple of different
times there Wisconsin ball fifty one to thirty five Illinois,
though as the Ali and I have responded, quarter outside left,
(01:08:02):
kind to back down, McKenzie over to Crawn, right corner,
driving right baseline finding McCrae, it's up, it's in, but
a travel Woh, that was close. I'm sure I entirely
(01:08:24):
agree with that one. Illinois scored the last five. I'm
fifty one to thirty five on the Badgers. Two nineteen
to play in the third Bryant outside right to the
corner of Wallace, rainbow, three skins the rim no goods too,
pill down, th lost the ball, dives on the floor
to pick it up. But a time I'll called time
(01:08:45):
out by Illinois. Keep it right here, I'm remind Badger
fans after today, just two home games remain for the
Wisconsin Badgers, and the Bers will be back here at
the Coal Center on February twenty third, when they face
(01:09:05):
Northwestern Wildcats. Picked up their first win of the year today.
That's a two pm tip off time. It is Senior
Day and you get tickets at UW Badgers dot com.
(01:09:27):
So Illinois outscoring Wisconsin on the scoreboard, fifty one to
thirty five. But in this quarter, the Badgers hold a
slide edge at ten to nine and eight h nothing
in run got the score down to forty six to
thirty five. It was single digits for the Badgers, but
(01:09:53):
Illinois has come back. Here's Mackenzie coming in strong for
the right side, kicking it back out one of the
shot clock. Bostic for three the airball shot clock violation.
It'll go right back to the Badgers. There's Lightsinger for three,
(01:10:16):
rolls it in. Natalie Leitzinger connects for the three point hit,
working down low on Williams, and there's a whistle that
(01:10:38):
stops playing. It's gonna be a foul call against Williams.
Like I said, Badgers got it down to nine and
men eleven. Sorry, did the math wrong? I think anyway,
it's fifty one to thirty eight Illinois, and that fowl
against Williams is for third minute twenty two to play
in the third quarter. There's Barry Wallace, a freshman from Pickerington, Ohio.
(01:11:05):
She makes the free throw. Illinois is a team nine
for nine at the free throw line, and that free
throw is no good. Hey, it worked. Porter front court
tend to mention that we're perfect from the line and
then the next one is no good. I will take
credit Krawn outside right for the Badger's a minute ten
(01:11:28):
to play in the third Krawn left hand drive has
it at the free throw line. Defender falls to the floor,
looks inside, caught mcray deep on the left over two
players tipped by Bostick. Bostick grabs it, but there is
an injured ALNI player in the paint right now and
both teams will head to the bench. I didn't see
exactly what happened to Genesis Bryant, who's on the ground
(01:11:51):
holding her right knee, right ankle, her right leg for sure.
Bryant eleven points for the Ali And this Illinois team
has suffered injuries this season. They have lost two starters
to injury. Makaira Cook, scoring about twelve points per game,
has played in eight games but is out with ongoing
(01:12:13):
with an ongoing health condition. And Gretchen Dolan, who is
a starter scoring about ten and a half per game,
injured her knee and she's done for the year. And
this is Genesis Bryant, currently the second leading scorer at
fifteen per game. She's going to be carried off the court,
(01:12:39):
and that is not a good look for Illinois. As
they lose Bryant to injury, we'll see just how severe
or maybe she could come back in this one. She's
going to be not led to the bench, I'm sorry,
not led to the locker room, but at the end
of the bench. So it'll be Illinois ball. But first
(01:13:15):
they gotta correct the shot. Clocket said two point nine
seconds out his twenty nine seconds. It should be well,
it should be thirty. If the Badger's played tough defense,
they're gonna have to only fill them to nine second
call if they could be in the back court. But
Illinois breaks the pressure into the front court. Fifty seconds
to go in this third quarter, fifty two to thirty eight.
A line I lead in the basketball, Bostic near the
(01:13:37):
right elbow. Bostic one dribble, hands off, but Kenzie turns
the corner and kron lost the basketball loose on the floor.
McCray has it, finds Krawn get into the front court.
Krawn left of the lane, literally out to McCrae top side.
Now to porter. Badgers can set up the offense. Twenty
nine seconds to play in the third Ronnie trying to drive,
can't get by the defense of Illinois kept Swilliams kicks
(01:14:02):
to the corner. It's Krawn, Krawn inside. Here's mccraye. Yes,
it's good and a foul. Carter mccraye buoys her way
to the rim for two. Twelve point game was sixteen
point five seconds to go in the third and one
(01:14:23):
coming up for McCray here's McCrae. About sixty percent of
the free throw line this season, missed it. Rebound. Illinois
fifteen seconds to play in the third, the eline high,
lead by twelve front court. It's mackenzie with nine seconds
high right side, hands off to Brown Hagar with five
(01:14:45):
at the motion. W now to three Brown Hagar right side.
Here's a whistle that stops playing. With one second foul
against Porter. It was not a shooting fowl, but still
Illinois ball team fowl against Wisconsin. One second on the
third quarter clock in bounds stolen by Kron. Boston catches
(01:15:14):
Krawn takes it away and the third quarter buzzer sounds.
Although Krown looks like she got raked against the face there,
she's still on the court trying to get her vision right.
She's slowly walking back to the bench. All right, third
quarter is done. It's a twelve point game after three,
Illinois fifty two Wisconsin forty. Back with the final ten minutes. Next,
(01:15:38):
this is Bacher's basketball from Learfield ten minutes of play
tonight today at the Cool Center in Madison. John audiis
with you. I'll go with today since it's like four
o'clock ten minutes ago. Fifty two to forty, Illinois leads Wisconsin.
(01:15:59):
Time for today is ATC Smart Play of the game.
Let's go back to that last quarter in Wisconsin's Ronnie
Porter providing today's play of the game. Stray McCray. Porter
has the basketball, fighting amongst the trees, driving to the
rim and scoring with the right hand. It's Ronnie Porter
(01:16:21):
for two. Wisconsin's down by eleven. It's an eight nothing
Badger's run. That is today's ATC Smart Play of the
Game ATC energizing your future with Smart Careers. Porter has
four points, but that driving layup was part of that
eight to nothing run that brought Wisconsin to within eleven
(01:16:45):
of Illinois. That's the closest they would get here in
the second half. But as we start the final quarter,
it's just a twelve point a line I lead. Eight
points in that last quarter from Sarah Williams. She leads
the Badgers in scoring today with fourteen has four rebounds
for the Badgers. Wisconsin's shooting thirty five percent from the field,
(01:17:08):
Illinois shooting forty two percent. Down by twelve ten minutes
to play, Here we go. Final quarter is underway from
Madison and the Cole Center Badgers at two and ten
in the Big ten facing the eight and four fighting
a line eye Williams backing down, Bostick turning, missing it
(01:17:29):
deep on the left, trying to get her own miss,
but it's tipped out to the Alini Wallace front court.
Twelve point Illinois lead, Porter defending Wallace on the left wing.
Wallace fighting trying to get around Porter, can't do it,
finds Brown Hager still no genesis, Bryan on the floor.
She's at the end of the bench for the Ilini
left eight in the third quarter with a white leg injury.
(01:17:53):
Brown Hager on top five in the shot bock to Mackenzie.
McKenzie trying to fight off Leitzinger. Tough two rights draws
air into the hands of McCray. Nine thirteen to go
in this game, Wisconsin down twelve and then is right
baseline on the drive, leaves it off, trying to leave
it off for Williams, but it's stolen. Turnover Wisconsin other side,
(01:18:14):
Brown Hager missed the driving layup. Wallace in the paint,
has it. That's got to be three seconds, isn't it
three seconds against Wallace? Will be Wisconsin ball. Just the
tenth Wisconsin turnover. The other side, Illinois just turned it
over for the tenth time. Both teams with eleven points
(01:18:34):
off turnovers. So that's evened up now since the first
half where Illinois had the advantage in points off turnovers.
Porter left side, kicking it to the corner, lights and
girl baseline drive locked down to the floor by Bostick,
and Bostick has it eight thirty six to go in
the game, still a fifty two to forty Illinois lead.
(01:18:58):
Brown Hagar top of the key, brings it back out
right hand dribble. Porter standing at the three point arc
defending four Wisconsin. Bosta catches right arc, Old croaching left
hand dribble, hands off. Here's a drive. McKenzie tough shot
over him and is in the pain and it's good.
(01:19:18):
First field goal of the fourth quarter goes to Illinois
eight oh seven to play. In the fourth Porter left
wing driving to her left, brings it back out, gives
it up, Williams drops it off to McCrae deep on
the right off the backboard. No but a fall against
Shope Hill who's defending Carter McCrae. Fourteen point Illinois lead
(01:19:41):
at fifty four to forty, and now Wisconsin'll go back
to the three throw line. McCrae with four points. She
has scored in double figures her last three straight games
and is coming off a double double on Wednesday against
usc when she corded twelve points and grabbed eleven rebounds.
(01:20:05):
And here is McCrae at the line in that free
throw and halfway down it popped out. Fourteen point deficit
for the home team, Wisconsin Badgers. Second one by McCrae
is up and in seven to fifty to go in
(01:20:26):
the game. McKenzie up the right sideline for the ALIGNI
the brown Hagar Porter out at the top of the
key defense seven forty and county to go. Brown Hagar
screened by Bostick. Now Leitzinger trying to pick the pocket
of brown Hager almost got it inside shoot pill over Williams.
It's block for the fowl and that's going to be
(01:20:49):
the fourth foul against Sarah Williams. So that's trouble for Wisconsin.
Williams has to leave with four fowls and she has
fourteen of the forty one points for the Badgers today,
So she's got was that I think like thirty four
(01:21:11):
percent something like that by do the math right, shoe
phill free throw good. So four fowls, fourteen points and
on the bench now Sarah Williams next one by shoe
pill is in fifty six forty one. It's a fifteen
point Illinois League the ELI and I by the way,
eleven of twelve at the foul line, and now Wisconsin
(01:21:34):
loses it on the left sideline and it's border off
the hands of her turnover number eleven today for the Badgers.
The line I fuck court, bossip down, Loan kicks it
(01:21:54):
out shoe pill for three and it's nothing but net
the eighth three pointer of the game for the Alini.
As a team, they're twelfth in the Big Ten and
three point shooting percentage at over thirty two percent. McCray
deep left for the Badgers McCrae bounces into Bostick. That
(01:22:16):
hooks it up and in half hook rattles in for
McCray six forty seven in county to go in this game,
fifty nine forty three, Illinois leading the ball. Bostick, you're
the right arc. The Brown Hagar pull up fifteen footer
straight on, rolls off the right side of the rim.
(01:22:36):
No good. Douglas, the Badger's fifty year player from Lake Flourist, Illinois,
grabs it. The porter Badger point guard gives it up
to Myers inside to McCrae right block. Bostick flops off.
That's a fall. Six nineteen to go, Illinois by sixteen.
(01:23:03):
Brown comes in. The Badgers need to start launching from outside.
They attempted eight three pointers and hit six against USC.
They're three of nine from the three point arc here
today against Illinois. But with six o nine to go
down sixteen, see what the Badgers offense can put together,
especially with Sarah Williams two on the bench with four fouls.
(01:23:26):
Gotta do something. McKenzie on top seven on the shot clock.
The Boston long two left side thrills it fifteen for
Bostick and Illinois leads at sixty one forty three time out.
Wisconsin still time five forty eight to go in this game,
but the Aliini have taken an eighteen point lead over
(01:23:47):
the Badgers, five forty eight to go back after this.
This is Badger basketball from Learfield. He won forty three
Illinois leagues Wisconsin. John Audius with you from the Coal
Center is the Badgers have been outscored here in the
(01:24:08):
final quarter, nine to three by the aligne I. Just
one Badger and double figures in this game, scoring that
Sarah Williams fourteen points for the Badger's leading scorer this season.
Although Williams has four personal fouls. The Aligned I, meanwhile
have countered with three players in double figures. Sixteen by
Mackenzie leads the team. Bostic has fifteen, Genesis Bryant has
(01:24:32):
eleven and has not returned to the game since an
injury in the third quarter. So Wisconsin and Illinois squaring
off this afternoon here at the Cole Center sec the
VIC ten scoreboard. How about that? Well wait a second here,
let me update this. A couple of finals. Northwestern First
(01:24:55):
Conference win sixty nine to sixty three over Penn State.
That one has gone final, So Northwestern now one in ten,
Penn State one and twelve. The Badgers will take on
the Lady Lions coming up on February sixteenth, and they've
got Northwestern on February twenty third. Meanwhile, Minnesota a winner
over Indiana by ten sixty six to fifty six. It
(01:25:17):
was Rutgers seventy eight per Due sixty nine, So the
Scarlet Knights grab their second conference one of the season.
Hid in the win column with the Badgers. Rutgers in
that fifteenth spot at two and eleven. The Badgers two
and ten in the fourteenth spot. But even if Wisconsin
did lose today, they hold a tiebreaker over Rutgers, so
they'd still maintain that fourteenth spot. Michigan an upset of
(01:25:40):
number twenty Michigan State seventy one to sixty one. Here's
Douglas corner three and it's ten. Douglas drills Wisconsin's fourth
three pointer of the game. And now a steal by
Douglas at mid court to Mayer if she wanted to
(01:26:01):
pull the trigger on the three, could close out by
shoe pill five ten to go in this one sixty
one forty six. But some life now for the Badgers
thanks to the fifty years senior Hallie Douglas in Venice
throws to her right looking for Kron It's off the market,
out of bounds, turnover. Five minutes to go in this game.
(01:26:26):
Other scores in the Big Ten undefeated and number one
UCLA up by ten at Oregon forty five to thirty
five in the fourth, and Maryland leads Washington sixty seven
fifty nine in the fourth. Badgers almost create a turnover
at mid court. Illinois McKenzie has it now Brown Hagar
will run the point, balancing over to the right in Boston,
(01:26:50):
hands off to McKenzie outside right shot clocks at five
Mackenzie and a drive and a pull up at the
free throw line. No Good. Williams grabs it for the
Badgers out of the court with four files four twenty
eight to go, though was gone needs points sixty one
forty six. Here's a menace outside right for the UW
heart screen by Douglas, right baseline jumper by d Is
(01:27:10):
no Good popped out decent look rebound Illinois four ten
to play. Brown Hager defended by Tess Myers top of
the key, throws to the right half of the court
to McKenzie back over topside, now over to the left wing.
(01:27:31):
Ron Hager with it, Myers on her shot locks at five.
Brown Hager throws over to Allen now to the corner.
Mackenzie tries at three and pops out no good and
Mennis tries to tip it to herself, can't get it.
Chase down Brown Hagar offensive rebound for the ALIGNI three
point thirty nine to go in this game, fifteen point
Illinois lead with the basketball, Brown Hager a round crawn
(01:27:54):
right of the lane, pull up jumpers in. Brown Hager
has nine stops two minutes scoreless drought by Illinois, sixty
three forty six A line I Badgers have it. Here's
Williams right elbow throws over to Douglas. How the himen
is screened by Williams. Here's a whistle stopping play and
(01:28:16):
a fowl away from the basketball. It's against Illinois, it's
against brown Hager. It's her third second team. Powell called
against the Aliini. Three twelve to go in this game.
(01:28:37):
Wisconsin needs buckets. Now border top of the key, jump
pass over to Douglas. Hallie pull up in the paint,
flips it up too strong a rebound Brown Hagar front
court for the Alini under three minutes to go in
this game. Sixty three forty six Illinois inside and the
(01:29:06):
layups up and in off the window down deep on
the left by McKenzie over Myers. Sixty five forty six
Illinois to thirty six to play. Porter driving on Brown Hagar,
tough shotdown low on a drive. Nope, but a follow me.
Chers have a scoreless drout of almost three minutes. Now
(01:29:36):
it's a go around. On the post game show, we'll
run through these final numbers for you this afternoon. Here
from a Badger's assistant coach. Also some highlights from this
one free throw mists by Porter. Fortunately, this output for
the Badgers offensively one of the lowest of the Big
(01:29:57):
Ten season, though season low in conference play was fifty
and a fifty nine to fifty lost in Minnesota. That
one's no good bye Porter rebound Illinois Padris also scored
fifty and their other loss to Minnesota at Williams Arena.
Mackenzie fighting through traffic, kicking to the corner. Here's a
(01:30:17):
three shoot pill and it is in for Illinois. Le

minutes and eight seconds simply to reprive by Kron shorts,
she falls to the floor in a foul ow Cron
had a similar play like that in this game where

three points today and has not hit a three pointer
two then attempt to three in the game on Wednesday
against usc either Kron comes out, Lena Patti Bandla now

Alba Martine Mason five six freshman guard come in two
minutes ago. Here's Brown Hager and lookdbye Martin Mesa, it's
(01:32:16):
a swipe, Attot comes up empty, Brown Hager flips it
inside and it is out of ountin softber teammates hands
looking for even Smith, the six to six freshman who's
into the game. Now sixty eight forty eight, twenty point
lead for the Aliini as third year coach SHAWNA. Green
(01:32:37):
also sending in some substitutions for this ALIGNI team and
it's going to improve to nineteen and five this season.
At nine and four in the conference with the win today,
Martin Mesa right of the lane, driving in trying to
bounce ver Spassowski, but it's intercepted and stolen. With a
minute thirty three to go, front court, Alan on Paddy Bandla,
(01:33:02):
Alan down low, shout over Paddy Bandla, No box out
grabb By Bisball Paddy Bamba front court with the rock
for the Badgers, infited by Alan, finds Bassowski, so Martin
Mesa throws it out of bounds looking for Gresh, and
Gresh goes cuts toward the rim. Mesa throws at where
(01:33:25):
Crush was and out of bounds. Approaching one minute to
go in this game, Illinois by twenty one. Wallace Rainbow
three on the left splashed it the tenth three pointer
by Illinois, ten of twenty fifty percent shooting from the
(01:33:47):
three point arc. Forty seven seconds to play in the game,
seventy one forty eight Illinois. Bassowski pulls up long two,
is short and it's rebounded by the Alni. That's Noya
Cooktoyada with the rebound. That's Irene Noya Katoyda. Now Illinois
(01:34:15):
just dribbling the basketball with twenty two seconds to go,
ten on the shot clock. I get away one more
shot here like side Wallace for three and it's in
ten seconds to go in this game. Rount Courch for Wisconsin.
(01:34:36):
Illinois on a six to nothing run. Spassovski with two
seconds to play long too, and she's fouled and the
shots now good and Sbasovski goes to the free line,
one point four seconds left on the clock, twenty six
point lead. Now after a couple of late threes by
(01:34:57):
the ALIGNI down the stretch of this fourth quarter, here
Spasowski free throws in. Freshman from Belgrade, Serbia played on
the U twenty Serbian national team, averaging two points per
game this season for the Badgers. Next frethrow, no good
(01:35:20):
rebound biz ball shy it up to in at the buzzer.
Final buzzer sounds here at the Cole Center today in Madison,
and it's Illinois walking out of town with the win,
Illinois seventy four, Wisconsin fifty one. And with that lost
the Badgers prompt two games below five hundred, now overall
(01:35:42):
at eleven and thirteen. Wisconsin's Big Ten record sits at
two and eleven and I approved to nineteen and five.
That are now nine and four in the Big Ten.
Coming up on the postgame show, running through these final
stats for you listening to some highlights running down the
Big Ten scoreboard, we'll hear our postgame interview with the
(01:36:03):
Badger's assistant coach. Coming up, Max, This is Wisconsin Badgers
basketball from thearfield. Seventy four to fifty one. Illinois toms
(01:36:24):
Wisconsin here and this is a Big Ten match up
at the Cole Center. John oudiis with you. As the
Badgers got out scored in that fourth quarter twenty two
to eleven. We'll take a look at the final numbers
and depth here in just a moment, but assistant coach
fro Gerald is making her way here to me courtside
I'm just glancing at some of the numbers and we'll
(01:36:44):
talk about this here today with fro Is. So get
that headset on and we'll talk it and we are
live on the air right now. Coach as once again.
Seventy four fifty one the final score. So when you
look back at this game here today, know is probably
the start against the Alna They really came out strong
and started well against against Wisconsin today. How'd you see
(01:37:07):
the first quarter kind of play out? Yep, you give
them credit.
Speaker 5 (01:37:10):
They came out, they were ready to play, you know, Yeah,
they came out and set the tone. They were ready
to play for.
Speaker 3 (01:37:17):
Those good assessment. Yeah, we talked about the three point
shooting for the Badger's ten threes today hit four of them.
It seemed, uh when they were there, it seemed like
they were kind of falling. How'd you see as far
as the offense and what you which you got out
of your team today?
Speaker 7 (01:37:30):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:37:32):
Not enough, not enough, not enough from a shooting's perspective,
not enough from a and a paint perspective. You know,
Illinois came out and they again they set the tone
from from the start a game to finish.
Speaker 3 (01:37:45):
What was the difference so for all which you say
when you when you kind of look back at this
just following the game here today, I.
Speaker 5 (01:37:51):
Think, I know it probably sounded like a broken record,
but again set in the tone. They came out and
they set the tone, and we were, you know, try
to adjust, you know, all game, but.
Speaker 3 (01:38:03):
Gotta come ready to play. Yeah, we talked about rebounding too,
you know, one of those things. I know Kendall Bostick
can rebound for them. She's double figures out rebounded overall,
thirty eight twenty seven. How'd you see that part of
the game.
Speaker 5 (01:38:15):
Yeah, you know, they did it from to the person,
they did exactly what they do. We didn't take much
away from them today, So yeah, Bostic does what she does.
She had a double double, you know, Mackenzie tough guard
what she had, eight rebounds, herself eighteen points. So yeah,
(01:38:35):
we just didn't take much away today.
Speaker 3 (01:38:37):
All right, couple coming up on the road next for
you and your team's a big ten season. Five games
left in the big ten season, yeah, and a couple
of big road games, right, yep, that's right.
Speaker 5 (01:38:46):
We got to head out to Lancing, another tough challenge,
so you know, we got to regroup and refocus for wisday.
Speaker 3 (01:38:56):
All right, thanks for the time, Thank you, all right,
that's assistant coach fro Gerald. Wisconsin falls seventy four fifty one,
the final score to the ilain Iiah break. Come back
and look at the numbers. Next. This is Badgers basketball
from Learfield. Past game continues on here at the Coal
Center seventy four to fifty one. To say, look at
(01:39:18):
Ali punk it down here today. I talked to it,
assistant coach fro jerro there just about the fast start
Illinois had. They led it twenty five to ten after
the first quarter, led by as many as eighteen points
in that first quarter, as Wisconsin shot just twenty five
percent from the four Illinois over fifty three percent. Second
quarter a little bit more even as far as both
(01:39:38):
teams scoring, but Illinois took the lead at the break
forty two to twenty five, led by as many as
twenty one points in that second quarter. Third quarter is
the breakout quarter for the Badgers. It was a forty
six to twenty seven game before an eight to nothing
run cut it to eleven. That's pretty much the closest
the Badgers would get here in the second half, and
(01:40:00):
three it was just a twelve point game, fifty two
to forty, but the align I outscored Wisconsin twenty two
to eleven in the fourth quarter, going to pick up
the seventy four to fifty one win. Overall, Illinois shoots
forty six percent from the floor as a team. The
Badger shoot thirty five percent seventeen out of forty eight
three points, shooting four to ten for Wisconsin forty percent.
Illinois goes for eleven threes eleven out of twenty one
(01:40:24):
fifty three percent. They were red hot from there, got
a couple of late threes to kind of pile on
to that stat. At the end of the game, Illinois
misses one free throw eleven out of twelve third ninety
two percent, Wisconsin thirteen of nineteen. That's sixty eight percent
rebounding plus eleven for the ALIGNI at thirty eight twenty
seven offensive rebounds eleven to six in favor of the ALIGNI,
(01:40:45):
and that led to an advantage of seven to four
on the offensive glass. Team assists twenty assists today for
the aliin I to Wisconsin's seven total assists. By the way,
with that layup at the end, SI thinking out loud
here at the end by Bisball got the Badgers to
fifty one points. Otherwise that would have been a season
low in the Big Ten scoring for Wisconsin if not
(01:41:07):
for that layup right at the buzzer by Bisball. All
right back to the numbers, fifteen turnovers for Wisconsin, so
that's a pretty low number right at about their season average.
A little bit better actually, twelve for THEIGNI points off
turnovers plus eight for Illinois. That was even at eleven
in the second half before Illinois ends up with the
(01:41:27):
you know, a nineteen to eleven lead in that category.
Points in the paint even at twenty fast break Illinois eleven,
Wisconsin nothing blocks Illinois three, Wisconsin nothing steals seven for ALLIGNI.
As the Badgers never let in this one. Illinois leads
the entire time seventy four fifty one the final score.
They are now a win nine and four in the
(01:41:48):
conference in nineteen and five overall, Wisconsin two and eleven
in the conference in eleven and thirteen overall. Look at
the individual numbers coming up next. This is Badgers basketball
from Miarfield, seventy four fifty one. The Illinois tops Wisconsin
here at the Cole Center today, Let's take a look
(01:42:11):
at the individual numbers. The aligne I had five players
in double figures, led by Adalia McKenzie's eighteen points and
eight rebounds in thirty five minutes. Then it was fifteen
and eleven from Bostik a double double for Kendall Bostic.
Nothing new there. She has over thirteen hundred career points
and thirteen hundred career rebounds. The scoring goes to eleven
(01:42:32):
points for Tennessi Spryan after that she was eight of
eight from the free throw line and a team best
seven assists. Did leave the game after injuring her right
leg and did not return after a third quarter injury.
There ten points from Wallace on three of five shooting,
with Barry Wallace three of five from the three point RC.
Brown Hager goes for nine and four rebounds, and that's
(01:42:55):
the scoring for Illinois. Wisconsin had one player in double figures.
It was Sarah Williamsiams goes for fourteen points. That is
her twenty second game this season and ninth in a
row scoring ten or more points. Five rebounds for Williams,
So fourteen and five for Sarah Williams. After that, seven
points from Carter McCrae. Her streak of three straight in
(01:43:16):
double figures is snapped five rebounds, seven points for McCray,
six points from Leitzinger and two of five shooting the
three points shot with three rebounds, six points from Halle Douglass.
She also hit a three and grabbed two rebounds four Wisconsin.
Then it was four points from Porter with four rebounds,
just one assist in twenty six minutes for Porter, well
(01:43:36):
off her season average of five assists per game. Four
points from Giannis A. Meenez off the bench to a
four fifteen minutes of work for d Lake. Kron Goes
for four points, one of three shooting, oh of two
from the three point arc, head a rebound, and also
had an assist. Then it was three points from test Meyers,
one of two from Downtown, so just two attempts from
(01:43:57):
test Meyers in twenty two minutes. She was also another
player coming in with three straight games in double figure,
scoring about thirteen and a half points per game over
her last three, so the Badgers didn't get much production
out of Tests. She had three points. Ali Bisball scored
two that was right at the Bosovsky goes for one
point at the free throw line. Patty Bandlove plays two minutes,
(01:44:19):
doesn't score, as does Martin Mesa without a score, as
does Gracie Gresh two who played a couple of minutes.
There at the end, seventy four fifty one, Illinois beats Wisconsin.
We'll take our final break, come back and look at
the Big ten scoreboard and listen to some highlights from
this one. Next, this is Badgers basketball from Learfield.

Propping up a postgame show from the Cole Center. Seventy
four to fifty one, Illinois piece Wisconsin is the Badger's
fall at home is the UW's third straight loss. Now
two and eleven in the Big Ten in eleven and
thirteen overalls. Check the Big Ten scoreboard final scores from
around the league. Sixty six to fifty six Minnesota at
(01:47:09):
home over Indiana Northwestern its first conference win. Sixty nine
sixty three over Penn State, who is stuck with one
conference win as well, so that each team now with
one win. Rutgers seventy eight sixty nine over Purdue. That's
the Scarlet Night's second conference win of the season. Purdue
still with just one win. I'm just doing wins. Let's
just look at the wins, because the top fifteen teams
(01:47:31):
make the Big Ten Tournament. Wisconsin coming into today is fourteen.
They're still at fourteen despite being in a tie at
two and eleven with Rutgers. That's because they have a
head to head win over the Scarlet Knights. So if
the season ended today, Wisconsin makes the Big Ten tournament.
But the Badger's still on the schedule, have Penn State
in Northwestern just to win back in the in the
win column in the standings. So some very vital games
(01:47:54):
still upcoming for the UW Elsewhere, Michigan the upset over
number twenty Michigan State eight in East Lansing, seventy one
to sixty one. The Badgers will get the Spartans coming
up on in their next game on Wednesday, They'll be
on the road. Michigan State now eighteen and five overall.
UCLA still undefeated, sixty two to fifty two. The final
(01:48:19):
score they beat who they beat? Sorry, clicked off of it.
They beat Oregon sixty two to fifty two. Ucla now
eleven and zero in the conference in twenty three and
oh overall, by the way, the Michigan State record, let
me get that for you real quick. Where they go.
Michigan State now eight and four this season. After the
loss at home also Maryland in the fourth quarter time
(01:48:40):
winding down there eighty one seventy three about to pick
up a win over Washington. Well, like I said here today,
it was seventy four to fifty one Illinois. Let's take
a listen to some of the highlights from today's Wisconsin game.
Williams downlo working on Boston, back to the baskets, kicks
out myersout of forty just right of center. It's gonna
bounce around the rim and fall through. Wisconsin's first three
(01:49:05):
pointer of the game comes with a minute twenty four
to play in the first quarter. Quick shot by Sarah
Williams just right of the lane, and Williams connects from
twelve feet out. Amen is still with it on McKenzie,
driving Jimenez all the way.
Speaker 2 (01:49:19):
To the ram.
Speaker 3 (01:49:20):
She sneaks it through and the quarter buzzer Diannis Jimenez
puts it in second gear and scores down Loan. Here's
Leitzinger for three, rolls it in. Natalie Leitzinger connects for
the three point hit, kicks to the corner. It's krawn,
(01:49:41):
krawn inside. Here's McCray, Yes, it's good and a foul.
Carter McCray buoys her way to the rim for two.
And there you go. Some of the highlights from today's
Wisconsin game. So up next for the Badgers on the
road on Wednesday, Bill Face number twenty Michigan State pregame
(01:50:04):
