Speaker 2 (01:07):
Budrlan John to Welcome to the Friday Football Frenzy on
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station and a service of
our friends at Skyline Chile or anytime you're feeling good
and hungry. It is Skyline time. It's Friday. So you
know what we're ready to do. We're ready to have
a bunch of fun with you. The listener five won, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty talkbacks. Everything that we normally hit on a Friday,
(01:30):
we're going to do today on the Friday Football Frenzy.
We'll talk to you, we'll listen to your talkbacks. We'll
talk to Tom Gallader of FC Cincinnati, the voice of the
Orange and Blue we'll talk to him at two o'clock.
We'll talk to Charlie Goldsmith of Cincinnati dot Com at
one o'clock. We have a weekly pick them segment that
we have to get in. But oddly enough, here Austin,
(01:50):
there is another story that doesn't have to do with
a football frenzy show that is brewing wow that we're
talking about today, And it just so happens that, you know,
Tom Gillaerder is a huge Cleveland Guardians fan, and Charlie
Goldsmith not only covers the Cincinnati Bengals, he covers the
Cincinnati Reds. So we have something else to talk to
(02:15):
them about. That would be the new manager of the
Cincinnati Reds. One Terry Francona. Tito is a Cincinnati read
I was floored when I saw the news last night,
Absolutely shocked to see the news because I had heard
(02:38):
the name floated out there and I'm thinking, I just retired.
He's won three World Series, He's ran off into the sunset.
That's not a viable name for this job now.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
One.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I think it speaks a little bit to how attractive
this job is of the Cincinnati Reds and the young
talent that they have. But I also think with Terry Francona,
he wouldn't just come out of retirement to go five hundred.
He wouldn't, in my opinion, come out of retirement unless
(03:15):
he was pitched something from the Cincinnati Reds that gave
some type of indication that what has been the normal
for so long will no longer be the normal. That
maybe that finally the voices around this organization have become
so loud that the Reds have said, all right, let's
go for it. That is the type of message that
(03:38):
you send when Terry Francona is your manager. I know
it goes against a little bit of what we talked
about yesterday. How much do managers matter in baseball today? Well,
off the field, they matter a lot. If you listen
to any of clips that are floating out there around
Terry Francona and the Guardians. He's talked to out the
(04:00):
locker room. He's talked about non negotiables. Not throwing one
hundred different things at the players, but saying, hey, here's
a list of four or five things that are non
negotiable with me in this team.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
This will not be tolerated.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
And to make that known up front, He's got a
history of working with young talented baseball players. The Reds
have a plethora of them. But I don't see him
coming out of retirement for a job that he's going
to go five hundred. I see him saying yes and
agreeing to that if he was pitched something that he's
(04:38):
buying into from the Cincinnati Reds. Am I making too
much of that?
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Austin, No, I think I'm really interested in trying to
figure out the timeline of how this happened with Terry Francona,
just because of the way things seemed weird that it
ended with David Bell. I wonder if the Reds were, like,
you know, I wonder if Terry Francona is available, and
when they find out maybe he is, then all of
(05:03):
a sudden, this all happens very fast. And I said
this on social media. We had this conversation yesterday. Overall,
I feel like the impact of a manager in today's
game is minimal. But it's not crazy to think Terry
Francona can be one of the exceptions to the rule,
can be somebody who can get a lot more out
(05:25):
of this young team. I think the Reds come to
him and they have to do the convincing of like,
you don't have anything left to prove. You've shown it
time and time again that you're one of the best
in the business. You will be in Cooperstown in a
few years. But this is our plan. If that's the case,
that they were able to present a plan to Terry
(05:48):
Francona in which a guy who's dealt with a lot
of health issues is sixty five years old and has
nothing left to prove as a skipper in Major League Baseball,
that tells me the plan was good enough to get
him out of the chair and back in the dugout.
Speaker 6 (06:02):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (06:03):
And the pressure now shifts to the organization to make
good on this and make it worth the hype and
surround Terry Francona with players that are good enough to
get to the postseason. I think it says a lot,
and to me, it signifies that the Reds are actually
(06:23):
trying to win.
Speaker 7 (06:24):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
This is the first time in a long time in
which I felt like the Reds are making a move
with a championship mindset, and that's all I ask be aggressive,
make moves with a championship in mind. This feels like
that a little.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Bit more on Terry Francona twenty three years of managerial experience.
Overall record of nineteen fifty and sixteen seventy two. That's
a five point thirty eight winning percentage Philadelphia, Boston, Cleveland.
Guided his teams to the postseason eleven times, three World
Series appearances. Overall, he is a five sixty four winning
percentage in the playoffs. He's sixty five years old now.
(07:00):
He did step away due to health reasons. I saw
a video from Aj Perzinski congratulating the Cincinnati Reds on
a home run higher and Aj said, I golfed with
Tito a couple weeks ago. His health is fantastic. He
looks great, he feels great. His contract set to be
a three year contract through twenty twenty seven, with the
club option through twenty twenty eight. He said this, I
(07:23):
am so excited in an honor to join an organization
with the tradition and history of the Cincinnati Reds. I
only played one season for the Reds in nineteen eighty seven,
but in that season I learned that Cincinnati is a
great baseball city. I want to thank Bob Castelini, Nick Krawl,
and Brad Metta for giving me this opportunity to manage
the Reds. I can't wait to start meeting and interacting
with these good young players of ours. That is from
(07:46):
Terry Francono.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
Yeah, I had checked in with someone a couple of
weeks ago about his health because I was like, if
he's healthy enough to manage the Reds, gotta at least
give the guy a call pickup and see if he's interested.
And they said that his health was fantastic, that his
health is in great shape. He missed a bunch of
time last year due to health injuries or health issues
(08:08):
and surgeries, but that's all been cleared up over the
last year or so. I think there was a report
in April that came out that said he was doing
much better, that's only increased over the last several months,
and clearly feels well enough to come into what has
been a train wreck in this organization for the last
thirty years and thinks he's got enough energy and enough
(08:28):
to be able to turn this thing around.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Tito, Terry Francona. We'll talk more about Terry Francona as
we go. This is a guy that has an understanding
of how special baseball is in Cincinnati. He's got an
understand of how special Opening Day is in Cincinnati and
in a.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
Home run for the Red Lists in nineteen eighty seven
on Opening how about that? Man?
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I am again that there are not many things in
baseball that can leave me, I would say shocked, especially
about the Cincinnati Reds.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
I was shocked last night in a good way.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
And it feels like, you know, in today's world, universally,
it's hard to.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Make everybody happy.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Yeah, Yet to meet anyone that is unhappy with the
hiring of Terry Francon. It's like it's a renewed excitement.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
It feels like, how often has the guy that you
want or the best possible scenario actually happened with this club?
Like think about when Ken Griffy Junior gets brought over, Like,
obviously he's the best player in the world. It'd be
great if he's with the Reds. Can they really bring
him home? Boom? They do it? Wow, hype at an
(09:35):
all time high. That doesn't happen very often. How often
do you get the best available free agent or the
best available coach? It doesn't happen, And it happened with
the Reds in an organization that has lost a lot
of public support because of the way that they have
handled things. This brings a lot of people back on
(09:56):
their side.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
By the way things already matriculating for the Reds once
Francona's announced, now the Savannah Bananas are gonna come to
American ballparks.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
What about the Bananas?
Speaker 2 (10:07):
June thirteenth and fourteenth, The Savannah Bananas will be here.
Unbelievable fun. Looking forward to that. But while we talk
about the home run higher that is Terry Francona Austin,
can we talk about another home run that was hit
last night?
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Please? Pete Alonzo, Oh my gosh, the polar Bear. The
Polar Bear.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Last night, facing elimination and essentially a make or break game.
Loser goes home, winner goes on to face the Phillies,
and let's face it, the Brewers dominated the game. They
hit back to back home runs late. It's a two
to nothing lead going into the ninth and Lindor walks.
(10:47):
They get a scene I single and against Devin Williams,
the Brewers closer. Pete Alonzo comes up, gets to a
three to one count and hits an opposite field home
run that we'll hear the call here in just a
few minutes, hits an opposite field home run gives the
Mets a three two league Jesse Winker then manufactured a
run as well, and spiked and shattered his batting helmet
(11:09):
as he dove into whole plate.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
That was awesome.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Four to two, absolutely, And it did get a little
harry early in the ninth inning with the leadoff runner
getting on because the Mets went to Edwin Diaz in
the seventh, so he could not come out in the ninth.
And yet Mets find a way. You want to talk
about an unbelievable game, man, that Mets Brewers, that delivered
(11:31):
in every possible aspect of playoff baseball.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
That you can ask for.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
Yeah, at the beginning of the playoffs, I was like,
I don't really like the whole three game series thing.
It just feels like too sudden to me. And then
you know, after watching the games, after hearing Mode talk
about it, I was like, you know, okay, I'm changing
my mind. This is great. And then for that game
to end the way it did, YEP, was so awesome.
It's very, very fun to root against the Milwaukee Brewers
and root for their failure and to see their hearts
(11:57):
break like that was awesome.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
And as that's happen, then you start to flip back
and forth, you're like, wait a second, Oh my gosh,
we got a good one on Thursday Night football.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
It was awesome.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Thursday Night Football, Mercedes Benz super Dome in Atlanta. Unbelievable game.
Falcons win it thirty six to thirty in overtime. That
is because Bucky Irving fumbles as Tampa's trying to run
the clock out. Tampa put up thirty. Baker was nineteen
(12:28):
to twenty four for three touchdowns. He found Mike Evans twice,
he found Sterling Shepherd. He spread the ball all around
to a bunch of different receivers. Tampa scores thirty. It's
not enough because Kirk Cousins was on the other sideline.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Oh my gosh, she was on fire.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
I'm just Kirk Cousins forty two of fifty eight yes,
fifty eight passes five zero nine. Cousins threw for five
hundred and nine yards and four touchdowns last night, including
including the game winner.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
To Cadaryl Hodge. Yes, and overtime.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Now caderol Hodge came on because the play before Drake
London got banged up, so Hodge comes in, he catches
a pass, takes it forty five yards, walk off win
and overtime. Cousins was phenomenal. His one interception came late
in the game on a fourth and fifteen when he
was trying to fit the ball in somewhere. Yeah, because
they needed to move the chains. Sacked four times. Bijon
Robinson ran it for five to one to carry. That
(13:27):
was such a fun football game on so many accounts.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
There was a drive in which and also young way
Ku missed two field goals. Yes, who's normally very reliable.
He missed one, got penalized, then missed it again, and
then missed another one later and hit the fifty four
right before the one of the final sequences of the game,
Darnell Mooney wide open, dropped on fourth down and then
(13:57):
you mentioned it, fourth and fifteen at their own twenty,
the Falcon go for it. Cousins throws an interception. Lavante
David should have batted the ball down, yes, but he didn't,
and because of that the Falcons defense stiffened up, forced
a punt and then they were able to go down
the field tie it going into overtime, won the coin
toss won the game in overtime.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
So much fun.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
On the night that they are putting Matt Ryan into
the Falcons Ring of Honor. Matt Ryan, who holds or
held the Falcons all time single game record for pass
yards with five hundred and three, watches Kirk Cousins on
the night that he's getting inducted to the Ring of
Honor throw for five hundred and nine against the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers. That was a really really fun game and
(14:41):
Kirk o was a swag surfing after the game, yep,
which was really fun. Jesse Bates, by the way, two
forced fumbles, including one that was a game winner, essentially
on Bucky Irving.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Outside of that, congratulations, it was Moe's birthday yesterday. Yes,
Moe had a great birthday. And then it continued because
Patrick Ewing his guy, rejoined the next as a basketball ambassador.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Oh my gosh. She shout out to mo for that.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Speaking of the game of basketball, Caitlyn clark Uh takes
home the award for Rookie of the Year after her
historic year. She got sixty six of the sixty seven votes,
which means she can't be named the unanimous Rookie of
the Year, although she should have been. Angel Reyes did
receive the other pick for Rookie of the Year, but
(15:27):
no surprise there, Caitlyn Clark in the year that she
put together for the Ineneana Fever takes on the Hardware
Rookie of the Year. Shout out CC, what a fun
first segment this has been. Man, I'm so excited about today.
We've barely gotten into the football. Friends were going to
talk about all what's his face with the diarrhea of
the mouth again? Oh, Chris Canty. He's talking about Burrow again. Yeah,
(15:52):
So let's do this.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
He said something, he said the Cowboys should tank, Yeah,
and got mad about Jerry Jones with his helicopter.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Can we play that audio? I don't want to his
Borrow just because it's football natty. When we get back here,
we have to.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
I guess let's do that.
Speaker 2 (16:05):

Speaker 5 (18:21):
Okay, before we get to that, can we give some
breaking news that just came down, please on the Bengals.
This coming from Paul dean Or Junior. He says that
the Bengals will get the troops back this week. According
to Zach Taylor, Trey Hendrickson, Miles Murphy, bj Hill, McKinley
Jackson all cleared to play coming off injuries on the
defensive line against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Sheldon Rankins
(18:46):
the only one who will not play. Love it, but Hendrickson, Murphy, Hill,
and Jackson have all been cleared to play and looks
like they're good to go for Sunday. Love this big
news there for the Bengals' I don't think it's a must.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Wait, these TV's in here just talking. Randy yelling at you.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah, anyway, scary.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
He was yelling at me in the studio.
Speaker 5 (19:09):
If you say Chris Canty's names, yeah, if you said Tis, yeah,
something negative about the Bengals appears all right, Chris Canty.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
I think at this point, Austin, he gets so much
reaction from people that whoever is agent or whatever, he's
probably saying, just keep doing exactly what you're doing because
it's working. Because people are talking about it and people
are discussing it, so I'm sure he doesn't even care
that we're going to play this and talk about it.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
But can we play this audio? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (19:37):
This is from Get Up, and I want you to
just notice how Canty's argument changes over the course of
this conversation. Starts with Canty, it's a rebuttal by Ryan Clark,
and it finishes with Canty.
Speaker 12 (19:50):
All.
Speaker 7 (19:50):
But what I'm not going to do is allow the
quarterback to skirt criticism and be immune to a one
and three start.
Speaker 9 (19:56):
That's not what I'm gonna do.
Speaker 7 (19:57):
Y'all can step me down with all of the fantasy
for Paul numbers. That's all well and good, but Joe
Ball started off this season continuing.
Speaker 9 (20:05):
To lose games. He lost five consecutive.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
Starts going back to last year before last week. What
I'm not gonna do is make Joe Burrow mule to
the start he started out the season losing three straight games.
Lamar Jackson's never done that in his career. Josh Allen
has never done that in his career.
Speaker 9 (20:21):
On the.
Speaker 7 (20:24):
Knots having Lamar Jackson have never been to Super Bowl,
I've never done So here's what I'm.
Speaker 13 (20:29):
Gonna say, like, here's why these things can be separate.
Go right, Desaun Watson, not Deshaun Watson that's in Cleveland,
but the Dashaun Watson that's in Houston, right, And his
last year in Houston, he was probably the best player
not named Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 9 (20:44):
Okay, the team was terrible.
Speaker 14 (20:46):
Right like that.
Speaker 13 (20:46):
There's a time where he's walking off of the field
and JJ Watt goes up to him and say, man,
we wasted a year of your life. There's sometimes, even
in this game where your quarterback can be good, your
quarterback can do everything that you wanted to do, and
there's just dysfunction around him. Joe Burrow's playing good ball
right now.
Speaker 9 (21:05):
But for RC, you act like we ain't never seen this.
Speaker 7 (21:08):
With the Cincinnati Bengals, they had Kennissen who won an
MVP and got to a Super Bowl. He only won
two playoff games in seventeen years.
Speaker 9 (21:17):
Booma Sassen won an MVP, only went to the five.
He won five? But can I finish? I mean, we've
seen it with Carson Palmer.
Speaker 7 (21:26):
He got to a conference championship game, but it wasn't
with the Bengals. Why because he wanted to get the
hell out of there. Andy Dalton went the five straight
playoffs and didn't win a playoff game.
Speaker 9 (21:36):
I don't understand why we've gotten.
Speaker 7 (21:38):
To a place where we want to give the Cincinnati
Bengals the benefit of the doubt because they got to
get the quarterback.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
Unbelievable. It's just it's maddening. I can I'll go first,
if please please? Okay, So here's here's how I view this.
Number One, I don't want to talk about this because
this is exactly what they want. That show and the
people on it, for the most part, suffer from diarrhea
(22:04):
of the mouth. They never shut up. They say a
bunch of stupid stuff, and because the fan base and
the people on social media and people like us react
to it, they continue to do it. So take all
of it with a grain of salt and put it
through that lens. But also, this, to me is just
a poor argument. This is somebody who changed his stance
(22:26):
in the middle of that conversation. He starts it off
by saying the quarterback deserves criticism for the team's bad starts.
Ryan Clark makes his point and then Kanty turns it
into well it's the Bengals. This is what the Bengals do. Okay,
that is an argument. That's fair. Historically the Bengals have
fallen short. The other point of the matter is that
(22:50):
Ken Anderson and boomeras Eizen and Carson Palmer have been
great players that because of the organizational dysfunction around them,
we're not able to reach pinnacle. That is a valid
point if you were going to talk about the Bengals organization.
But to put the blame on the quarterback is just misguided.
And he said he doesn't want all the stats. That's fine,
(23:12):
but the stats tell the story of how good the
quarterback has played and how bad the defense has and
so on. The starts that he lost the New England game.
I'll put that on Joe, the Kansas City game.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
I wouldn't put that one on Joe.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
I wouldn't. I wouldn't put it on Joe. But you
could make the argument that they had the ball with
seven minutes left in a chance to go win.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
Sure, and he fumbled, And yeah, okay, fine, But overall,
has Burrow been the reason that this team has availed
last year and is failing this year? Absolutely, especially when
you look at him over the last two weeks. So
I just thought it was he says something and then
he changes to blaming it on the Bengals organization instead
(23:57):
of blaming it on the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Make up your mind was my thought. If you're going
to blame the organization, I get it. There is a
track record with the organization. Like you said, what's the
track record with Joe Burrow when he's been healthy, He's elite.
And it kind of piggybacks a little bit onto the
conversation we had yesterday Austin where we talked about, you know,
in this game and Lamar as a starters eight and
one against the Bengals, and you know the we played
(24:21):
the audio clip from Acho about you know who's closest
to Patrick Mahomes and he says, that's more Josh Allen
and Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
And I get it.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
They've went to the playoffs and Baltimore made an AFC
title game, So I get that, I really do. Burrow
has been the one that that's knocked off Mahomes. Burrow
has been the one to be the thorn in the side.
And I get from an organization standpoint, when you don't
make the playoffs, that is going to slide the quarterback back.
But you you cannot tell me that you are a person.
(24:52):
You don't have to even know the ins and outs
of football. You just have to watch. There isn't a
person out there that you can legitimately say just go
watch the game and tell me Joe Burrows not one
of the best quarterbacks in the game. That to me,
that's when it just becomes arguing to argue, right, and that,
(25:13):
to me is what Chris Canty's doing. It's not an
argument based on facts because you don't even want to
throw the numbers out there of how good Joe Burrow
has been, the completion percentage and what he's able to
do the receivers that he's done. He's done it. When
Jamar Chase has been out due to injury, he's done it.
When t Higgins has been out due to injury, he's
done it. When their offensive line was one of the
(25:34):
worst in football, he's done it. When they had no
semblance of a running game. Those those are what you see.
That's the eye test, and no one that flips on
a Bengals game would think otherwise.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Yea, So to argue, just to argue, it's too much.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
And it's crazy to me that there's nobody else at
the network that agrees with him, and so now they
just keep putting him on all the show. So you
have that conversation and people get big mad about it
on social media and people like us talk about it
on our shows.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Ye like, and they're gonna keep doing it. That does
it keeps getting reactions.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
That's fine, and my point, I think the whole point
of us kind of talking about it now is to
make people aware of the fact that he's just saying stuff.
And also, for years Bengals fans were begging for conversation
and attention when it comes to the national media. Unfortunately,
(26:32):
this is part of that is going to include dumb
stuff like this, and it's unfortunate that Chris Canty is
now the latest and the stephen A. Smith diarrhea of
the mouth line of people that this organ that the
that the ESPN continues to put.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Out and he's got Steven A and Ryan Clark baffled.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
Yeah, I mean, he said something yesterday on NFL Live
because God knows why they're putting him on that show
now that they were talking about Jerry Jones bringing a
helicopter into practice. It's ridiculous on the surface, right, and
they're talking about that, and then they're talking about how
the Cowboys have done this, and the Cowboys have done that,
(27:11):
and they talk about.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
The Cowboys constantly.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
It got to a point where Chris Canty is saying
the Cowboys should tank. It's October third, and they're what
two two. In the reaction of the people on set,
including Mina Kaimes I think is a wonderfully bright football
mind shock. She she couldn't help herself but be legitimately
shocked by the fact that somebody just said that. And
(27:35):
it's just frustrating because to me, that's not to a
Obviously they do it for a reason because they get
results from it, but to me, that's not what this
is supposed to be all about. That's football in the NATI.
Your phone calls are.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Next five something else to talk about seven fifteen thirty.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
That's what we'll do with our callers when we get
back on the Home of the Bengals, ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station on the Friday Football Frenzy.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
You've been listening to football in Thenetti on the official
home of the Bengals, Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 15 (28:08):
This is Dan Horde joined Dave Lapham and me this
afternoon at three for Bengals PEP rally on the official
home of the Bengals, Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 16 (28:17):
Carries on on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Welcome back. It's sincey three to sixty. ESPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati Sports Station, A service of our friends at Skyline, Chile.
Friday Football Frenzy. Let's get to some phone calls first
time today a lot. I'm sure that you want to
talk about. Let's get it underway with Rob. Who's calling
in right now? What's up?
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Rob?
Speaker 17 (28:54):
Yeah, guys, I was coming from the grocery store and
cost thee opening of your show.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Day.
Speaker 17 (29:01):
Just a quick question and I'll get off here. Do
you think that there was something attached to the Kedo
Francona deal about the Red spending some big money for
a big bat in the outfield and I'm a starting
pitcher that will get you one hundred and eighty innings
and twelve fourteen wins.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
I mean, I don't know what was promised or what
would have been promised. What I do know is I
don't think Terry Francona takes the job, if it's going
to be status quo, if it's going to be the
same thing the Reds have done to approach the off
seasons in years past. I don't think that would have
been enough to allure him from retirement. I don't know
if there would be something like that in a contract clause,
(29:43):
but at the end of the day, I do think
that there was something there that that was enough to
have Terry Francona say, Okay, this is this is something
they're serious about, and this is something that I see
very good potential in.
Speaker 6 (29:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
I mean that conversation has to be had if you're
Terry Francona of like, Okay, what are you guys gonna
do to give me a team that can win? And
obviously the plan was good enough.
Speaker 9 (30:09):
All right, Well, thank you, thanks.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
Rob, appreciate that. What's up, Mark big Day?
Speaker 14 (30:14):
Mark?
Speaker 10 (30:16):
Yeah, Hey, well I'm anxious to see, like, does Terry
Francona get to implement his plan? Do we get to
make out his lineup? You know? Do we not have
to look at the fundamental things that the Reds wasn't
doing right? You know that we complained about and I
had to go back and forth with Austin Albore about
(30:38):
is all that over with now? I mean, if that's
the case, then we're gonna see a winning team and
Austin Nilbore finally get to see what he's never saw.
Speaker 6 (30:47):
So I'm I'm more of the type.
Speaker 10 (30:51):
I was shocked to see that he got hired because
I didn't think he was on the list. But I'll
wait to the season start next year, and I want
to see what that lineup looks like. I want to see, uh,
you know, what what the what the roster looks like
and how he's managing it before I say one way
(31:12):
or the other what I think, But I think I
think he's a better higher than David Bell will Uh, well,
we know we're gonna see better than match, so you know,
but hopefully, uh, the organization allows him to manage the
team the way he sees fit and not tell him
(31:34):
who to play and how to make out his lineup.
That's my biggest that's my biggest question right there. So
I'll get off and uh, I'll get off and we'll
we'll we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
That's fair, Mark. I appreciate the phone call man, Thank
you all right, Uh Dave in Florida?
Speaker 4 (31:51):
What's up?
Speaker 18 (31:51):
Dave?
Speaker 19 (31:53):
Hey? So real quick, Tony, just I caught you yesterday.
Excuse me talking about the weather down here next week
and all that rain should be out of here.
Speaker 10 (32:06):
You should be.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Fine, perfect, perfect.
Speaker 19 (32:09):
I watch these storms all the time because I.
Speaker 20 (32:11):
Get hit by him weekly.
Speaker 19 (32:13):
So my comment is on this on Canty, who you know,
obviously needs to go into concussion protocol or something because
he's falling down in his head. But you know, I
watched that this morning on First Take, and Bryan Clark,
I thought, brought up a good point that he said,
you know, you got to look at the whole picture
of every game, and you know, we want to, you know,
(32:36):
look at it. And like he said, in the New
England game, if Hudson doesn't fumble the footballer Kasecki catches
the football and Charlie Jones doesn't fumble them, they win
that game. And that's not on Joe, you know. And
in the you know, Washington game, same thing, defense gets
off the field, they win the game. So I think
(32:56):
that's how you got to look at it and just
can't you got to ignore h Canty.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Yeah, it's the Canty side is hard, and he does
it does enough to rile you up. But at the
end of the day, I think, you know why he's
doing it, and it's to be that that contrarian. So
I think people understand it. It's still people that consume it. Dave,
I appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Thanks you know, Austin, there is something to that as well,
because you know, we talked about this yesterday because we
disagreed a little bit about Burrow's comments during his press conference.
But that also makes for good radio, you know. We
we said that this is a conversation we should have
on air, and that's the I mean, it's no different
(33:42):
than what they're trying to do with Chris Canty. It's
just at a level that's I think a little bit
harder to show credibility with when you look at what
Burrow's done through his career.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
So that's what it is. Marcus is calling him.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
What's up, Marcus, Oh, what a great day it is?
Speaker 14 (34:01):
It is.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
It's a beautiful day outside in Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Finally got a manager that's not going to put up
with no bs from the front office. He's going to
do things his way, and his way is winning baseball
and to go back on what Mark said earlier, I
do think it's going to be him making the lineup.
I don't think it's because I don't think he is
about this analytics to an extent. Like I remember last
(34:29):
season Kentucky Baseball, the coach that our coach said, analytics
is a good thing for baseball because but it's not
the only thing about baseball.
Speaker 6 (34:41):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
You still have to manage your team. You still have
to coach your team. You can't you can't just put
your players into a computer.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
And with Francona, him being the the old dolt, I
guess we can say he's going to do that and
he's going to hold these players accountable. He's not going
to to put up with the base running blunders. And
I feel good now. I mean, I'm not saying, Frank
coon of with this team the way it's a symbole,
is going to be a world series. But like what
you said earlier, I do think that they had a
(35:13):
conversation and they said, look, this is what we have
playing for the off season. And I said it earlier
this week, Go get Frank COONa, go get Corbyn Burns.
I think he would be a good piece for the
starting rotation.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Yeah, I don't think anyone would would disagree with that,
And I think again that to me is the most
interesting thing that can come from this now is what
do they follow it up with? What do they do
now to add to this move from the Cincinnati Reds.
That to me is the most exciting part, because this
(35:46):
is awesome in itself. But does this mean that more
is coming? And if so, that's so much more exciting
and that's something you could really get around going forward.
Speaker 5 (35:55):
I think the point that Marcus makes about the the
analytics and the lineup and Francona doing things his way,
I think that's part of why the move is so
shocking is because you expected that they would get somebody
who is a little bit more willing to let the
front office control things, and Francona does not seem to
be that type of manager.
Speaker 6 (36:16):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (36:17):
Uh So the dynamic between the two and by really
the three, between Francona, Brad Metter, and Nick Crawl, I'm
really interested to see what that looks like. And I
hope they're asked about it on Monday. What's the dynamic
and the impact that Francona has on roster building and
(36:37):
then the day to day of the lineup, how much
of that is going to be affected. I think that's
really really interesting because it's so stunning of.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
A higher yep, and that's why it feels like there's
more to it. Go ahead, Marcus, Maddy.
Speaker 6 (36:53):
That's a reason.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
So by I mean, I keep saying kren burnt, but
I think I think you need to go out and
trade Oakland and get get Bret Brooker in here. I
right handed outfield power that I think with Grandclone being
I'll stay if I think you can probably convinst It
Martinez to come back.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Yeah, nationally Picture of the Month in September.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
Could be Yeah, what about what about one? So too, Marcus,
we'll go get one so.
Speaker 12 (37:19):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
I don't know about that one. I mean who I mean,
would I would? I love it absolutely, I would love it.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
For a man, that's a lot, very much. So Marcus,
thank you, man. Thanks Now Tony tried to pull out
of his.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Saying go get soda. It's different now because Francona is
a manager. Now it means I don't know if that
it's really different, but now it means more so you
we're already doing it and he's been the manager for
less than a dead Uh one more call?
Speaker 4 (37:51):
What's up?
Speaker 14 (37:51):
Dick?
Speaker 10 (37:52):
Hey?
Speaker 21 (37:53):
How are you doing there? Tony and Austin? I saw
it on TV. I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 20 (37:58):
It's great day for Reds, isn't it? Sunday Day?
Speaker 21 (38:02):
This happening?
Speaker 9 (38:03):
What do you like to believe?
Speaker 21 (38:05):
And I think I'm taking they're gonna go pretty far
this year. I thank you.
Speaker 5 (38:10):
What do you remember about nineteen eighty seven and the
Reds team from then?
Speaker 21 (38:15):
Let's see? Oh I can't remember that bank?
Speaker 4 (38:21):
All right, that's all right.
Speaker 5 (38:22):
That's a Terry Francoto played for the Reds in nineteen
eighty seven.
Speaker 20 (38:25):
Dick, Yeah, yeah, and you know he's a leader, you know,
uh uh get hitty.
Speaker 21 (38:32):
But hey, guys, I god, you're not gonna believe this. Okay,
write this down.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Okay.
Speaker 21 (38:38):
I know you said.
Speaker 20 (38:40):
I like to be optimistic. Okay, all right, but the
Bengals are gonna pull They're gonna look good, and they're
gonna win like twenty eight to twenty three tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
Okay, Okay. Who do the Bengals play on Sunday? Dick?
Speaker 21 (38:54):
I know who they play. I think the defense is
gonna go after Jack.
Speaker 14 (39:01):
Let's go Dick.
Speaker 21 (39:04):
Hey, I want to say another thing too. Yeah, thank
all of you, but you know it all honored me
for almost twenty four years. But God bless Pete Rose
my heart.
Speaker 20 (39:18):
I wish I could have met him.
Speaker 21 (39:20):
It. It needs to be in the Hall of Fame.
And if anything, they break him there. I'm hoping Dave
from Dayton takes me. We want to go up there.
He said he might work it out with me. I'd
love to meet you guys.
Speaker 4 (39:32):
Yeah, absolutely these days, Dick, I look forward to it, buddy.
Speaker 20 (39:35):
Thank you, Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Have a great day. And everyone's spirits are high. Vives
are very high right now. Everyone's twenty eight, twenty three.
Do you write that down? I got it, I got it.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
And he defense getting after Lamar.
Speaker 2 (39:49):

love that from Dick out of Dayton. Thanks for listening

(41:48):
a home run. Terry Francona has agreed to be the
next manager of the Cincinnati Reds. It's a three year
deal with a club option for twenty twenty eight. Terry
Francona out of retirement and uh leading now this young
core group of Cincinnati Reds to the future. A lot
of optimism in Cincinnati, and it it kind of kicks
(42:10):

sports weekend here in Cincinnati. Not only do you have

October next year ahead of ourselves or anything.
Speaker 23 (42:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Yeah, we're not doing any of that. We're just we're
taking this day by day. But you know, it's it's
it's rare to to have that, to to celebrate where
everyone is a fan base can celebrate the same thing
for the Reds, not arguing what did they make enough
move or who should be playing or what the lineup
looks like or analytics, but for once, a refreshing day
(43:07):
where everyone in Red's Country is just happy.
Speaker 5 (43:09):
I said last night that I'm gonna be fired up
for twenty four hours and then we'll start getting to
the Okay, what are you guys gonna do to fix
the team?
Speaker 4 (43:18):
Yep?
Speaker 5 (43:19):
But it's good to be happy and excited about about
this baseball club, man. Yeah, Like that's what I supposed
This is what it's supposed.
Speaker 4 (43:29):
To feel like.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
It just it just feels it feels different, man, It
feels different in a way that I don't know, we
have not had in a long time. So more to
continue to watch on that front, but for now, we'll

Welcome back. Our number two now underway for the Friday
football frenzy. And you know on Fridays that means one thing.
Here at one o'clock Charlie Goldsmith of Cincinnati dot Com
waiting to join us right now, Charlie, what's going on?
Happy Friday, buddy, How you doing, Charlie? The Terry Francona
news Obviously we're gonna get into the Bengals and the Ravens,
(46:32):
but the Terry Francona news is someone that is close
to this team. Is this something that you even saw
being on the Reds radar when this coaching search happened.
Speaker 12 (46:42):
So, Francona, very early in this process, it was made
clear to the Reds that Francona would have interest in
this job, and I know what the initial plan was
included lots of zoom interviews in a long process and
a very specific step by step managerial search. But all
of a sudd and here we are less than a
week after the regular season even ends. That shows you
(47:04):
how much the Reds had confidence in Francona, how much
that once Francona expressed interest in the Reds job, the
Reds were ready to jump right on that same train.
It's a huge win for me. It's huge to have
someone who's not in your organization, who is established, a
knowledgeable and credible as Terry Francona is, to say, you
know what you guys have going on here, Yes, I'd
(47:26):
like to be a part of that.
Speaker 5 (47:28):
And that is just a monumental win to the red
Do we have any idea on the timeline of like
when this became a real possibility with him?
Speaker 4 (47:35):
Obviously he was retired for exactly one year.
Speaker 12 (47:39):
So what I do know is, you know, the Reds
got criticized for the timing of it firing David Bell.
You know it's a week left in the season. I
do know that the timing and the ability to start
this process right away certainly helped speed things up. And
a lot of this too, not necessarily a deadline, but
kind of a deadline, was what if one of these
playoff teams playing out and fire their manager. Well, I'm
(48:01):
sure Terry Francona is going to be a guy on
that guy, a guy on that lit so very early on,
before the end of the season, I get the sense
that this started, you know, going down that route, and
then obviously very quickly this week they made sure they
got this done.
Speaker 5 (48:17):
To made sure they to make sure they got their
guys Charlie, do you think that with this higher comes
when the Reds are talking to get someone out of
retirement like Francona, do you think there are I don't
want to say guarantees, but do you think there's a
vision in place that maybe shifts how aggressive the playan
will be for the Cincinnati Reds this offseason to try
to go in and get back to the playoffs and
(48:39):
be a team that competes for a championship.
Speaker 12 (48:42):
So my reporting on the Reds would be that this
is something they view as a three year window and
I would have said this yesterday, you know, before this,
and then they go out and give Terry a free
a three year deal, three year window where you know,
who knows what the MLB financial you know, CBA landscape's
gonna look like. In twenty twenty eight, you look at
those the Reds young core is going to be much
(49:03):
closer to free agency. A lot of different reasons why
this three specific year stretch ahead of the Reds probably
has to be the run and adding and Terry certainly provides,
you know, makes the Reds more of a draw in
free agency. It can probably lift up the roster as
a whole. Now will they spend more? I don't know. Obviously,
it's a story I've been working really hard on and
(49:24):
then all of a sudden you have the bombshell at
the Valley Sports Ohio money it is maybe not going
to be there, So that, you know, takes away from
whatever your plan may be. Here's what I would say,
though the Reds know they need a power hitting outfielder,
the best way to get the perfect fit for them
has always been a trade. So do they need to
spend more, Yes, but they can still accomplish a lot
(49:45):
of what they'd want to do if they make a
home run swing via trade. They basically have to have
like the offseason the Bengals had entering twenty twenty one
where they got all those guys and remade their defense
and hit on every single one of them. They have
enough resources to make that poss especially because they have
a pool of guys to trade from, and you know
it's you know, it's a huge offseason. They've acknowledged this,
(50:07):
the players know this. There's a lot of urgency and momentum,
and they've kind of nailed their first step with Terry.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
Francona Charlie Let's switch gears to the Cincinnati Bengals, and
we know what the task at hand is against the
Baltimore Ravens and this rushing offense in particular. But it
does sound like good news today from an injury front
and from an injury returning from the injury front as well,
that the Bengals are going to get a lot of
guys back, especially on that defensive line.
Speaker 12 (50:35):
Bj Hill, McKinley Jackson, Miles Murphy, and I think everything
you need to know here about this situation is especially
McKinley Jackson, some of them with three padded practices under
his belt, They're going to put him in a role
right away. You know, Dak Taylor just told us that
shows that what they had had on the defensive line
wasn't tenable. Zach was basically saying like, yeah, we had
(50:55):
a plan to replace DJ Readers, not replace him, but
you know, make up enough of that production and try
to get more gaps filled in elsewhere. And you know,
they ended up with Zak Carter and j. C. Filly
and Lawrence Guy playing practice squad double football. And that
was a big reason why the Bengals consistently we're struggling
up front defensively. It was that much of a need
that they're gonna put guys in much bigger roles than
(51:16):
they normally were coming back from injuries, especially young guys
in Jackson and Miles Murphy and Frankly, kind of the
message all week is we just need guys to win
up front. It doesn't matter. It can't matter that you
haven't played, or you haven't been playing well, or this
or that, but the situation the Bengals are in, they
just need guys who aren't going to get pushed backround
double teams, and they need guys to win one on one.
(51:36):
It doesn't matter how you do it. If you do it,
you have a very good shot to win, and if
you don't do it well, you'll be the latest team
that Baltimore runs right through. So those are the stakes
on that side of the ball, and it's up to
some guys to kind of play the best football of
their young careers.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
Let me ask you this, because no one has stopped
the Ravens from a rushing attack. They're far and above
the best rushing team in football. I know getting back
these guys will help. Is there anything schematically that you
think that the Bengals can can try that can perhaps
slow down the rushing attack for the Ravens.
Speaker 12 (52:10):
So here's the big question, and it's a question that
Baltimore is actually going to answer. The question is does
Baltimore want the Bengals to be in nickel? Do they
want the Bengals to be in base? Specifically, how much
are they going to run two and three tight end
stuff for using their fullback Patrick Riccard Doing that would
force either a Keen Davis Gator or a fit defensive lineman,
say that would be McKinley Jackson onto the field for
(52:33):
those starting base snaps or with Mike Hilton probably out,
maybe more doubtful but sounds like he's not playing. Do
you want to get whether you know, that would kind
of create a whole other conversation for the Bengals. Do
you promote Jalen Davison immediately making the starter or do
you get your three best corners on the field and
put Dax Hill in the slot. But the problem with
that is that Louie Rumo just said that the problem
(52:54):
with Dakon's game this year has been tackling, and tackling
is so paramount in the slock corner the Ravens Dolphins.
So there's going to be a real significant, legitimate chess
match on that side of the ball. Who can get
into the personnel they want and who has the you know,
the ability to exploit or win those matchups based on
who you're getting on the field before the snap. That's
(53:15):
the chess match that's going to determine who has the
edge schematically.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
On Sunday, Charlie the conversation earlier week speaking of tackling,
Jordan Battle was really good at that last year according
to Pro Football Focus, the words by Leuenn Rumo of
how he got into camp and and being a little
bit behind and not where they wanted to be. Was
that surprising to you? And do you think that he's
(53:39):
closer now? We saw a very quick move to go
to dj Turner last week. Do you think there's a
chance we start seeing more of Jordan Battle?
Speaker 12 (53:47):
So I went back and watch the Ravens game from
last year. Batt'll chase down the mark twice. If that's
the Jordan Bat one I'm getting, I think it'd be
a mistake to not hit him on cannot have him
on the field on Sunday and rushing situations because he
was making legitimately dynamic style plays showing his athleticism. However,
where is Jordan Battle at now? I don't have the
(54:07):
answer for how he's looked in practice. What I do
have the answer for is how he's looked on special teams.
We've talked a lot about Dejon Anthony, the incredible pass
breakup he made. How did you know the tight end
get that wide open? Darren Simmons told us yesterday they
were double teaming him on the line of scrimmage. And
I went back and watched that play and it was
a mistake by Jordan Battle, who just let the guy
(54:28):
get a free release and didn't make a great effort
to catch up in that play that lets the tight
end be wide open and let and force Dejon Anthony
to cover like a third of the field to go
and make an incredible pass breakup on a guy who
was wide open that was supposed to be double team. So,
you know, I put that mistake on Jordan Battle, and
that's kind of a safety style play.
Speaker 9 (54:48):
You know.
Speaker 12 (54:48):
I asked it about Jordan yesterday. He mentioned things like trust.
He mentioned things like handling the roll back and forth
between a starter to a special team or to a
starter again, and he said there's a lot to improve.
Speaker 24 (55:00):
On with him.
Speaker 12 (55:00):
And if he's not shining in the role he's in
and he's making mistakes in the role he's in, that
makes it harder for me to throw him out there
against Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
Very good point on that side. Let's switch sides of
the ball, because Charlie, there's been a lot made of
Chase Brown, and I think Chase has looked fantastic in
the rushes that he's been given, and their touches were
pretty similar against the Carolina Panthers. But did a video
breakdown here the ability of Zach Moss and some of
the individual blocks that he made against blitzing linebackers and
(55:30):
stunting defensive linemen and being a factor in the passing game.
How vital early in the season is Zack Moss not
only as someone with the ball in his hands, but
someone that Joe Burrow can trust in that protection side
of things.
Speaker 12 (55:45):
Well, the word of the year, the word of the
week especially has been versatility, right, and you look at
Jack Moss and his ability in pass protection. When you
look at Jack Moss and his ability to break his
tackle in the backfield like he did on that touchdown,
all of those are things that you know, frankly, the
Bengals weren't getting from Joe Mixon. Now, you know there's
something Mixon does better than fitting and Dak Moss. But
I think the Bengals as a hoole just have a
(56:06):
huge upgrade at the running back position with the versatility
they've been getting.
Speaker 2 (56:11):
Let's talk about the versatility in one of the tight ends.
Eric Al, who has been drawing rave reviews this week,
and rightfully so. But the question was asked as Zach
Taylor early in the week about operating in twelve personnel,
how much does Eric All unlock for this Bengals offense.
Speaker 12 (56:30):
I think it's never been more important than this week
against Baltimore two. So I went back and I watched,
Like I mentioned, the game against the Ravens last November,
and what was supposed to be the drive that changed
the season ended up being the drive that changed the
season because Burrow got hurt. But it was supposed to
be the moment that the Bengals became the AFC North contenders,
and that drive that gave the Bengals a ten to
(56:51):
seven lead and unfortunately ended with Burrow's rift popping that
drive was Drew Sample running a thirteen yard route over
the middle. It was Eric excuse me. It was a
Kenner Hudson separating in space on kind of a double
move or kind of a you know, creating separation against
the linebacker near the sideline for a big game. It
was Irv Smith leaking out in space and holding a
(57:13):
block on a perimeter on the perimeter on a screen
to Tyler Boyden. There a couple other plays too, and
I'm watching these and I'm literally thinking, I've seen Eric
All do every one of these things on almost identical
plays over the last three weeks, and frankly.
Speaker 6 (57:26):
All's done him better.
Speaker 12 (57:27):
He looked at the drive that carried that much significance
at the time for the Bengals last year. You look
at the fact that the Ravens are a team that
you'd like to maybe get some slower personnel on the
field for she can capitalizing the explosiveness of a Chase
Brown Urjemark Chase. We've seen what Jamar can do in
these matchups when he's breaking tackles. When you piece all
that together, you know, Zack literally said this about thirty
(57:49):
minutes ago too. The new element the Bengals have this
year is Baltimore is gonna line up too high and
the Bengals actually have some cards to play that can
force the Ravens to maybe have to switch things up
in which they don't want to.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
Charlie I know that he's made some uncharacteristic mistakes, the
interception against Carolina, the fumble that cost them dearly against
the Kansas City Chiefs. But if you're looking at the
start of his season, with what everything happened, with Jamar,
Chase and t Higgins missing some time and implementing these
new players and new backs and new offensive linemen, how
(58:23):
do you grade Joe Burrow at this point through four weeks.
Speaker 12 (58:27):
I mean, let's just take the pit the Patriots game out,
because that game was an F minus. I really think
what hasn't been discussed enough is how good Burr's been
over the last three weeks. Dak Taylor yesterday gave him
the highest compliment he could. He said that Burrough looked
the same way he did last year when he was
fully healthy, where Burrow was playing frankly better than an
MVP level. And you know, the light of the week
(58:48):
is that Burr's going to have to be damn near perfect.
What does that look like? So it's a couple of things.
That's because of how many two high safety looks Baltimore
throw you over the course of the game. Burrow said
his biggest lesson from last year was actually, give you
a few more plays of one high safety looks than
you think. He says, have to do a better job
at recognizing that before the snap. Burrow said he has
to be better in the red zone. Specifically, he has
(59:11):
to get better on knowing when to scrabble and creating
those backyard explosive plays like you know the crazy plays
he had against Carolina where he's running all over the
pocket and making something happen. But we're seeing most of that.
We're seeing Burrow hitting against single high against Washington. We're
seeing Burrow hit on those backyard plays against Carolina. Like
said Jamar touchdown, the part that went unsaid was I
(59:33):
mean Burrow the placement, the way he let him so precisely.
How about before halftime the steamball up the middle of
andre Yoshibash where he threaded the needle as much as
you can thread the needle like Joe Burrow is Joe
Burrow right now. And that's, frankly the only thing that
gave the gives the Bengals confidence they can win this game,
but it does give them a path to win.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
The same Charlie speaking of a path to win this
game and what I've wrestled back and forth with because
of how bad the bank Those defense has been and
how good the Ravens offense has been. As an offensive
coordinator for you, would you go into this game and
say we're going to do what we do no matter what,
or do you have to start thinking about how the
(01:00:14):
defense has limitations in how you call the offense to
maybe give them more time to rest or a decision,
maybe you take the ball if you win the coin toss.
How much do the deficiencies on defense, in your opinion,
play into an offensive game plan in a game like this.
Speaker 25 (01:00:29):
You saw that.
Speaker 12 (01:00:30):
Against Washington in a couple of key situations, especially before
the first half. You saw that backfire. The Bengals are
a team that I think is gonna have to win
shootouts and as a team that I think has to
play to win shootouts, and that's why Burrow's talking about perfection.
There's going to be a more risk taking element with
the Bengals playing the style of football. That's why his
pick against Washing or against the Carolina ended up having
(01:00:53):
such a big kind of swing in the game of
the moments. But watching the way the Bengals have struggled
when they've tried to be more conservative this year, and
watching the ways they've been successful, I think this might
be a top three offense in football. And I don't
want to do anything that can take away from the
biggest strength of the team by forcing yourself to play
a different style of football because you can always kind
(01:01:16):
of tap into that leade upside and find a way
to outscore teams. I think that's just that's what this
season is going to have to be. So from a
you know, strategy standpoint, you know, give me the ball
coming out of halftime, and let's take momentum that way.
Instead of trying to force it and get up early. Let's,
you know, go for the explosive plays at the two
minute situation and not worry about maybe handing them the
(01:01:39):
ball back. Let's make all these decisions that just let
Joe Burrow be perfect and hopefully the defense can make
two or three plays and you know, let you give
it get a chance to win the game thirty three
to thirty or something like that.
Speaker 5 (01:01:54):
I have one more Bengals question and then one more
Reds question. We've started this by talking about defensive line.
How a lot of those guys are going to be
able to play this week? How much do you expect
bj Hill, McKinley, Jackson, Miles Murphy, et cetera to play
against Baltimore.
Speaker 12 (01:02:11):
They'll be managed, still certainly be managed. What would those
percentages be? Probably somewhere between twenty and fifty percent. But
I think the key is, and this is really the
pardid stress Hubbard's been playing too many snaps. Carter and
TUFA have been playing way too many snaps. Henderson's been
playing more snaps than you'd like. Lawrence guy might be
(01:02:31):
an active this week. So just even a chance to
pull away some of those snaps and fill them in
with guys who are just better players, that's just going
to go such a long way, even if they won't
be playing seventy percent of the snaps themselves.
Speaker 5 (01:02:44):
You briefly mentioned when it comes to the Reds the
absence of the money coming in from Bally Sports, What
exactly is the next step for the Reds and figuring
out who's going to broadcast their games on TV?
Speaker 4 (01:02:58):
And what do you expect to find.
Speaker 5 (01:03:01):
I believe it's sixty million ish that they had been
getting from Bally.
Speaker 4 (01:03:04):
I could be wrong on that.
Speaker 5 (01:03:06):
What's the next step and do you anticipate them getting
a deal that matches close to what they were getting previously.
Speaker 12 (01:03:13):
There's a lot of great work being done trying to
report these specific numbers and get a concrete, firm understanding,
and you know, frankly, I've got more to learn and
more to figure out there. I think we all do
figuring out what these specific numbers are going to be
and have the impact the Reds. What we have seen
is with you know, the Padres, they lost their TV
deal and MLB took over, and through the MLB app
(01:03:34):
in a league produce broadcast with the normal home broadcasters
has kind of become the status quo there. But you know,
San Diego had to cut payroll this year, but also
their owner died, and so what was the reason they
got payroll specifically, and what was you know, how much
was TV a factor? These are ownership level decisions that
it's very difficult to you know, pin down, and it's
(01:03:55):
been difficult to pin down the specifics from a number's
perspective on the Reds as well. But certainly you'd have
to expect for a team in a small market, one
of their biggest revenue sources being the TV deal, I
would expect it would have some sort of impact. But frankly,
I don't know that even Nick Crawl knows the answer
how much, or maybe even there's sources of income from
streaming or different sources through there that we don't.
Speaker 19 (01:04:18):
Know about yet.
Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Charlie, before I let you go, we have not spoken
since the Bearcats went to Lubbock, Texas. What were your
thoughts and takeaways from the Bearcats loss to Texas Tech.
Speaker 12 (01:04:31):
So Scott's ouderfield is the hardest part. Scott's odderfield, through
the transfer portal, has found a young quarterback who's really good.
How many teams in the country would trade their quarterback
situation for the Bearcats right now. Swords By can play
and he can do a lot of different things. Is athleticism,
his deep ball is processing, his confidence in the pocket
times where he scrambled. I can't be more impressed with
(01:04:53):
what I'm seeing with him. The Bearcats keep missing on
the easy stuff. I mean, how many it kind of
felt so much like some of those games, to those
one score games well off or for this one turnover late,
and then there was this one situational football moment down
the stretch where you know it ended up having a
bigger impact because you didn't handle that situation the right way.
(01:05:14):
That's like winning football type stuff, specifically situationally. So the
Bearcats struggled with last year. So, I mean, they've got
the hard part right, They've got the quarterback, they've got
the offense. I'm really excited about what they're doing offensively.
The defense will talk about that another day. But then
these games come down to these moments where it's within
their control, and for the second straight year you're seeing
(01:05:34):
games where they're not pulling through.
Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Charlie, always appreciative of your time. I know things are busy,
but we appreciate you here each and every Friday on
Sincy three sixty and the Friday Football.
Speaker 5 (01:05:43):
Sorry, Who's gonna win the World Series?
Speaker 12 (01:05:47):
I might go with an off the bench pick. I'm
gonna go with the Padres. They have elite series changing bats,
they played good defense. I think Michael King's the most
underrated starter in baseball. Dylan Feeside put higher on my
Cy Young ballast and I should have because of what
he's done this season hasn't been talked about enough. I
think he's been a top three starter in the NL,
and all they have to do is get five innings
(01:06:08):
on a nightly basis and then they can turn it
over to a really great bullpen. So I think they
do a lot of things at a very high level,
and I'll take San Diego.
Speaker 4 (01:06:16):
Charlie, you're the man. Appreciate you. Have a great weekend.
Speaker 9 (01:06:19):
See you guys there.
Speaker 2 (01:06:20):

Speaker 4 (01:07:41):
Right as well they did. The Reds have won today.
Speaker 28 (01:07:46):
Carry Francona, Carrie Brantona.
Speaker 6 (01:07:56):
Hear the Reds now that you have your manager?
Speaker 4 (01:07:58):
Do you go after a guy? Trevor Bauer? Wait, hold
on it, Hi, I'll have a lemonade and no Chick
fil a sauce I've never heard that before. No Chick
(01:08:20):
fil a sauce sounds like a bop.
Speaker 17 (01:08:23):
So I'm driving across the bridge and I swear I
just saw Walter Payton running.
Speaker 6 (01:08:26):
Out of the fog.
Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
Waltzer's not with us anymore.
Speaker 25 (01:08:30):
Triple Boogerdie talk about Talladega Sunday, But my top priority
at thirteen hundred hours is Bengals Ravens. Yep, the Bengals
defense needs the mentality of the Israeli Iron Dome to
stein me the Ravens offense. It's October fourth, a special
(01:08:53):
memorial ten four shout out to America's Deputy Barney.
Speaker 4 (01:08:59):
Five Barney, let's.
Speaker 12 (01:09:01):
Go, Tony Audie?
Speaker 10 (01:09:04):
What up?
Speaker 9 (01:09:05):
Boys?
Speaker 12 (01:09:05):
Mats and seven read back with the old Terry francona
higher question.
Speaker 21 (01:09:12):
We're not back at all.
Speaker 11 (01:09:13):
They're not gonna spend any money on payroll that.
Speaker 21 (01:09:15):
If they stink absolute cheeks.
Speaker 29 (01:09:18):
Anyways, it's a great hire.
Speaker 12 (01:09:19):
But on to Baltimore this Sunday, boys, I think we're
gonna get a w that's it, manod.
Speaker 4 (01:09:26):
Alright, Matts w w W.
Speaker 30 (01:09:29):
Austin h loves the Bengals this week against the Ravens.
Until I heard that Lamar is eight and one against
some so that's a little tough. Didn't love to see that.
And then question you, guys, if Derek Henry the last
running back we see going to the Hall of Fame.
(01:09:49):
Just because of running back lifestans nowadays and it being
a passing league, it's just interesting to think about.
Speaker 4 (01:09:56):
No, you won't be the last running back in. But
he is the last of a dying bre It feels like.
Speaker 5 (01:10:00):
He'll probably be the last to get to ten thousand
yards for a long time. But no, he won't be
the last one in. They'll keep putting him in. The
game will change, the game will evolve. We've already seen
this year. Teams are running the ball a lot more
than they ever have, so it'll eventually come back down. Hey, fellas,
it's Adam, and you know I usually call in here
(01:10:21):
to complain or rant about something, but today's different.
Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
The Reds went out and hired Terry Francona. I'm flabbergasted.
This this came out of nowhere.
Speaker 5 (01:10:35):
It is a good higher, no losers, a winning record,
a guy who's been there, a guy who's won the
World Series.
Speaker 6 (01:10:44):
I'm happy.
Speaker 5 (01:10:45):
Wow, Yep, let's go, Adam. Enjoy enjoy the happiness, enjoy
those feelings.
Speaker 31 (01:10:51):
Wow's still waiting for o High State to play a
real team. Why Michigans played the third real team this week?
For the Reds, Terry's red kind of boys, man, I
don't believe talking about the Reds at this at this point,
but that means.
Speaker 14 (01:11:03):
What this means is they're gonna actually signed players this year.
Speaker 31 (01:11:06):
There's no way Terry Francone commits to that job without
knowing they have a plan. So we're probably gonna see
a you know, an outfield bat and probably a starting pitcher.
Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
Looking good for the for our Red Legs.
Speaker 9 (01:11:18):
Have a good weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:11:19):
Wow, Rent free George about that George Austin mix.
Speaker 14 (01:11:22):
October Fest this year.
Speaker 31 (01:11:23):
I'm sure you know this fifty if year anniversary. If
you know, you know, If you don't, your cheeks be's
smoking heaters and drinking beer by the gallons, by the
milk jugs.
Speaker 4 (01:11:38):
Who day, Yeah, what did I miss? Minster October Fest
in Minster, Ohio?
Speaker 18 (01:11:43):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:11:43):
I will be there this weekend.
Speaker 32 (01:11:46):
God, here on a Friday, looking forward to seeing the
Bengals play on Sunday, really looking forward to seeing the
offense play.
Speaker 4 (01:11:55):
Right, I don't know, he's thinking about it all right, thanks, God,
appreciate it. Man, Wow cutting off? God on it? No,
that was the whole thing.
Speaker 24 (01:12:04):
That was it?
Speaker 6 (01:12:05):
Listen God here on a Friday.
Speaker 32 (01:12:08):
Oh no, looking forward to seeing the Bangles play on Sunday,
really looking forward to seeing the offense play.
Speaker 6 (01:12:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 17 (01:12:19):
It was it?
Speaker 4 (01:12:19):
Oh man? God seems distraught at the.
Speaker 10 (01:12:22):
Way for health reasons, and then became the manager of
the Reds a year later.
Speaker 33 (01:12:26):
Welcome to Cincinnati coach Urban Meyer.
Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
Yep, I was thinking it, hope he wins.
Speaker 34 (01:12:35):
Hey, do y'all think that Nick Krawl made Frank ConA
an offer he couldn't refuse, like saying I don't care
if y'all drink beer and eat chicken the clubhouse at all,
and Frank Conas like, well, hell in that case, I'm
your guy.
Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Maybe I don't know. I mean, who wouldn't want to
do those two things?
Speaker 14 (01:12:55):
Correct?
Speaker 6 (01:12:55):
You know?
Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
I mean it kind of sounds perfect to me, to
be completely honest with you.
Speaker 26 (01:13:02):
So I watched the entire game last night, Thursday Night
Football with the two quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (01:13:08):
I yes, if I say that Joe.
Speaker 26 (01:13:12):
Burrow, I cannot say that Joe Burrow is better right now?
Kirkus and Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 4 (01:13:23):
Mmmm, is that Jim Canty?
Speaker 23 (01:13:28):
Hello?
Speaker 33 (01:13:29):
This is former President Ronald Reagan. And when with this hiring,
Terry Francona becomes the second Red to manage the team
who also played for Pete Rose when he managed the Reds.
Who was the other Reds manager to play for Pete
I'll message the answer to Audie. When my dog Backs played?
Speaker 4 (01:13:52):
Wow, who was that?
Speaker 5 (01:13:53):
I'm pretty sure it was Tony Perez? Okay, fairly certain
it was. I check my d former president's bringing down.
Speaker 19 (01:14:01):
My wife told me to go to the store and
grab some gray Goose tonight to have some drinks.
Speaker 6 (01:14:08):
Instead, I came home with the Tito's. She was upset.
I said, honey, it's Tito time. Ye, welcome to Cincinnati.
Terry Francona's go Tito.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
You know I've always wanted to be on this show
Austin sponsored by a Vodka.
Speaker 10 (01:14:24):
And I just have.
Speaker 4 (01:14:26):
What a great hire by the Red Legs last night
going out there and getting Tito.
Speaker 6 (01:14:31):
Let's go man.
Speaker 1 (01:14:32):
Today we find out we're getting our defensive environment back
from the injury list.
Speaker 17 (01:14:36):
How about we topped this weekend off by beating those
Baltimore Aggar Allan Poe's on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
The Edgar Allan Poe's of Baltimore very well said.
Speaker 35 (01:14:45):
All know when Chris Canty and all the Chris Canty's
ever in east Man are trying to do when they
say stuff like that, So I mean, can we just
make a rule that we just ignore them from now on?
Because I mean, we know it's bull crabs, So like,
why do we been bothered listening to it?
Speaker 5 (01:15:01):
You know, I try not to strain it, nats, but
even when you swatt a nat, sometimes it feels good.
Speaker 36 (01:15:06):
So we did highlight that when we talked about it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for finally saying it.
I have been screaming for years since Kanthy's been on
that show. I've been screaming the exact same thing. The
dude never shuts up. It's one bad take after another,
and finally finally someone microphone said it.
Speaker 9 (01:15:30):
Thank you. I love you both.
Speaker 4 (01:15:33):
Thank you love you too. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:15:34):
I mean, there's a reason why we've had Michelle Smallman
on Ye and the other host there that I'm Cohen's
the reason we've had two out of three on Chris Canty.
Speaker 37 (01:15:47):
He's the boy that cries Wolf, but when you ain't looking,
he's feeding the damn wolves.
Speaker 7 (01:15:51):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
I hate that show, despise it. Thanks for listening to
this one.
Speaker 38 (01:16:00):
Chris Canty just spends too much time on Ravens Twitter
where they talk about how Lamar gets held accountable and
the other quarterbacks still.
Speaker 4 (01:16:07):
Oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 38 (01:16:08):
Anyway, making serious NFL analysts like the ones that are
on NFL Live have to interact with everybody else at
that network who has full blown ESPN disease is like
making Stephen Hawking have to babysit a three year old
with ADHD who loves pro wrestling.
Speaker 30 (01:16:26):
Man.
Speaker 39 (01:16:27):
Oh, two fantastic games last night. I tell I've always
been a giant Francona fan. Uh it just I tell
you what it gives the Rads. They were just like
a total dark white. Now it's like a shining star.
They have hope, they have hope for the future. Oh,
(01:16:52):
congratulations to the Reds fans.
Speaker 4 (01:16:54):
Amen, Amen to that. Hope springs eternal.
Speaker 18 (01:17:01):
From the enterprise.
Speaker 4 (01:17:04):
Chris Canty, you're a tool shed.
Speaker 18 (01:17:09):
Quite honestly, he's had me blocked on Twitter for a
couple of months when he said we don't deserve for Cincinnati,
doesn't deserve Ellie Day La Cruise and Skyline was terrible,
and I caught his take trash and he's so soft
that he blocking on Twitter about it.
Speaker 6 (01:17:25):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (01:17:26):
Wow, that is absolute weak. Sauce would walk across the
street to see Chris Canty.
Speaker 23 (01:17:34):
Hey, guys, great show. Now we've all heard the news
already about Terry Francona. I think it's great news. Personally.
Speaker 14 (01:17:44):
The Reds have yet to.
Speaker 23 (01:17:45):
Even formally and they did already him as the new manager.
And I've already heard rumors that Mark has already quit
on Terry Francone.
Speaker 5 (01:17:58):
Can you either confirm, I can deny. Marks is giving
Terry Francona a little bit of grace. He said he
wants to see that line up.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
I mean, what do you think, what do you think
it was for Francona when it was like, all right,
here's the things I need to have done. How far
down was Mark's approval on the list?
Speaker 17 (01:18:19):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (01:18:20):
It was probably top yep I was. According to my sources,
Mark was a part of the interview process, Mark telling.
Speaker 29 (01:18:28):
Me Bloomer drew from South Bend. Happy Friday, guys. Francona, man,
that's a pretty serious hire Reds. Fans are buzzing and
lets us know that they're pretty serious. But I'm sure
in conversations with mister Francona that I'm sure he has
some big questions. What's our budget, what are we going
to do?
Speaker 4 (01:18:47):
Who are we going to sign? These kinds of things.
Speaker 29 (01:18:49):
But he's got an awfully good canvas to start painting
his picture. And yet with all of that, have a
great weekend, guys, take care.
Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
With all of that, Terry said, yeah, I'm on board
with us. I'm good.
Speaker 40 (01:19:01):
I was pleasantly surprised that the Reds hired Terry Francona.
Speaker 4 (01:19:05):
I cannot believe they actually made a good higher.
Speaker 6 (01:19:09):
I was stunned.
Speaker 5 (01:19:10):
Now it's not gonna matter if they don't.
Speaker 26 (01:19:13):
Follow it up with uh, the right players and getting
some pieces in free agency.
Speaker 6 (01:19:19):
I mean, the coach can only do so much.
Speaker 4 (01:19:20):
He's definitely gonna hold him accountable.
Speaker 5 (01:19:22):
So I hope they're ready for that.
Speaker 23 (01:19:24):
But if they don't do anything as far as player personnel,
this really isn't gonna matter all that much.
Speaker 30 (01:19:29):
So hopefully they do.
Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
That's what I've heard most of anyone talking about Terry Francona.
Austin is that he's going to hold the players accountable.
Speaker 25 (01:19:38):
Good morning, boys, Ryan La here.
Speaker 27 (01:19:41):
Honestly, I just wanted to give a shout.
Speaker 4 (01:19:42):
Out to my wonderful wife.
Speaker 19 (01:19:47):
We made our trip from la to come.
Speaker 40 (01:19:49):
Out here to Cincinnati, going to a Buckey's game tomorrow
and then we're gonna be dumping them at pay Course
Stadium in the Holy Grail morning the Sunday, gonna watch
the Bengals open up a Cannibal on the Ravens baby day.
Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
A couple things, A couple things. One, congratulations to you
and your wife from the anniversary. Two, looking forward to
seeing you get the Holy Grail. Three why would you
waste time on a trip to go to Columbus?
Speaker 4 (01:20:16):
How dare you? The buck guys are wearing their gray alternates.
Speaker 5 (01:20:20):
It's going to be a beautiful fall day in Columbus, Ohio,
a beautiful, beautiful city, fast is growing in the world.
And then you got Big ten football against the Iowa
Hawk Eyes. What more could you want? And they got
bacon vending machines at Ohio Stadium? Now wow, write that down.
Speaker 29 (01:20:35):
All Santonis Boomer drew a quick double dick for the
Bengals this weekend. I think it's going to be key
that they run the ball and run it off, and
Chase Brown probably needs I would say at least twenty touches.
Speaker 9 (01:20:48):
Zach Moss, he's gonna be needed.
Speaker 4 (01:20:49):
Probably fifteen touches.
Speaker 29 (01:20:51):
He gashed in last year with Indianapolis for about one
hundred and ten yards.
Speaker 4 (01:20:55):
So this is what they're gonna have to do. Keep
our defense off the field. Run a ball. You guys
love it. Thank you, Boom. I'm with it, thank you Boom.
Speaker 30 (01:21:03):
Busted bats and baseball Caps sitting on losing street waiting
for a hero to bring us to our feet.
Speaker 6 (01:21:12):
Oh, young guns on the diamond.
Speaker 38 (01:21:15):
All the tall in the week, shoe something still was missing.
Speaker 33 (01:21:21):
Oh, we just didn't know that bailing was easy.
Speaker 40 (01:21:26):
Oh when Frankcona came our way, we're dreaming gger seeing
glory every day.
Speaker 4 (01:21:34):
My goodness, beautiful, that beautiful. That is so well done. Hey, guys,
going listen. I think you should have Chris Canty on
your show. Uh, you can ask him if his brain
cell is lonely. What an idiot? Anyway, I think the
beginning of the week, I was a little worried.
Speaker 6 (01:21:52):
I was thinking the Ravens were.
Speaker 15 (01:21:53):
Gonna run for three hundred on the Bengals and just
embarrass us week has gone on on.
Speaker 10 (01:22:00):
Okay, I think.
Speaker 4 (01:22:01):
Joe's gonna be able to throw the ball on this team.
Speaker 33 (01:22:04):
Zach Morris had a huge game against him last year,
and I think we're gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
Unbelievable. Check his one brain cell. See if his brain zones.
That's good, Tony Austin Jacob here, Happy Friday year. Ye's up, Jacob.
Bengals need to come.
Speaker 19 (01:22:20):
Out and get the Ravens a dose that are on medicine.
Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
Run the ball heavy, control the tempo to the game.
Speaker 10 (01:22:25):
Let's get set for an eric All touchdown Bengals winning
twenty four to thirty one.
Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
Let's go who stop can't stop the run? Stop the run?
Speaker 37 (01:22:35):
Can't stop of the current coaching staff of the Reds.
Who stays on with Francona or does he completely tear
it down and bring in his own guys.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he tears it down,
but I would say Derek Johnson still to me, seems
like a key piece of that.
Speaker 5 (01:22:53):
I think DJ will stay. I think Colin Calgill will stay.
People forget Colin Calgill actually played for Terry Franco.
Speaker 4 (01:23:00):
Wow, we're not even in baseball season right now, and
Mark is already complaining about.
Speaker 6 (01:23:07):
Next year's lineup.
Speaker 4 (01:23:08):
I don't know if he come on. Tito's for Tito.
Speaker 14 (01:23:17):
I want to recount the story that happened yesterday.
Speaker 41 (01:23:20):
I'm out in Indianapolis and some random guy I'm.
Speaker 27 (01:23:23):
Talking about how the Bengals defense sucks, how.
Speaker 41 (01:23:26):
They need to get better, and he goes, oh, but
don't you have a good player from Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (01:23:31):
Oh no, I said Sam Hommard.
Speaker 14 (01:23:35):
Yeah him, I said, he is hot garbage.
Speaker 41 (01:23:39):
He's always been on garbage heads. Help me if they
do the defensive line up of the game and he gets.
Speaker 4 (01:23:46):
The last call, he has not always been He had
the touchdown. He had the touchdown. Did you turn? Yeah?
He had good first few years in the league. Maybe
they were.
Speaker 2 (01:23:59):
Talking about von I thought that was gonna be a
thing where they were talking about Joe Burrow went over me.
Speaker 4 (01:24:03):
They were talking about Eli Asthol and.
Speaker 41 (01:24:06):
Look, he's done a lot of great things for the city,
Hubbard Coboards charity. It's great, folks.
Speaker 14 (01:24:12):
He's not a good football player.
Speaker 41 (01:24:14):
He hasn't been a good football.
Speaker 14 (01:24:15):
Player for three years.
Speaker 4 (01:24:17):
That's not true.
Speaker 41 (01:24:18):
You ran that fumble in the jungle back and I'm
very thankful for it, but doubts one through before he
can't do Jack raps. All right, that's my rant. I
think the Bengals will win. Some good recommendation is I
don't know Martine.
Speaker 4 (01:24:34):
Who that guys have good Friday hoppy Reds about about.
Speaker 30 (01:24:38):
The day, another top back, Kirk Cousins and the twob
and it really do like that.
Speaker 42 (01:24:44):
Ponies start raising at King Lynn this weekend.
Speaker 37 (01:24:46):
Bengals need to trade for another d N polar Bear
hitting clunch bombs in Milwaukee.
Speaker 4 (01:24:52):
Today is the start of regular season hockey.
Speaker 24 (01:24:55):
Rinsporter getting based off that's in a void in the
Texas gook francona high to Sat Tito, Dick.
Speaker 12 (01:25:03):
And Dayton a legend.
Speaker 4 (01:25:04):
That's my guy. Dunk on the fourth Vader out work
and made him pry. I see on the mic, Oh
my gosh, hey fellas happy, how.
Speaker 3 (01:25:16):
Do you get.
Speaker 19 (01:25:18):
Gotta beat that piece?
Speaker 21 (01:25:19):
Looking down smiling today.
Speaker 17 (01:25:22):
The new Reds manager.
Speaker 30 (01:25:24):
I imagine that he loves seeing Jesse Winker dive in.
Speaker 40 (01:25:28):
Home plate head first last night, get up and smash
his helmet on the ground in front of the Brewer's Faithful.
Speaker 24 (01:25:34):
That was awesome.
Speaker 17 (01:25:35):
Uh shout out to the kick for calls.
Speaker 11 (01:25:38):
It's a kickball tournament for.
Speaker 37 (01:25:40):
To raise money for a special family and Saint Bernard.
Speaker 6 (01:25:42):
This weekend, we have a lot of fun.
Speaker 43 (01:25:46):
Hey guys, Stephen Montgomery, want to let you know, I
bought Pelow windows and they're gonna come to the final measurements.
Speaker 17 (01:25:52):
Of about a week.
Speaker 19 (01:25:53):
And I was at your promotion when you're at their
store there in Montgomery.
Speaker 10 (01:25:58):
For the Bengals game.
Speaker 43 (01:25:59):
One thing I'm I'm curious to see if they consider
John Meadow was such a run stuffy linebacker in the preseason.
I understand it's only preseason that guy. Seems like you
could make a difference on rundowns.
Speaker 2 (01:26:11):
What do you guys think, man, anything that can help
on rundowns. I'm also for you now and pain later.
Speaker 4 (01:26:20):
Hello boy, it's hard Well.
Speaker 28 (01:26:26):
What a week first sparking and eye held open the
heavenly gates.
Speaker 14 (01:26:32):
Welcome to old Peter.
Speaker 28 (01:26:34):
Edward even brought me up a pack of Carltons. He
was always my favorite. Brought him back to the organization
and gave him another chance to.
Speaker 4 (01:26:46):
Now Oh sut and Simms Township.
Speaker 33 (01:26:51):
God, thank you for your clairvoyant words of direction. I
will follow them until my dying breath.
Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
Oh God, I love that.
Speaker 44 (01:27:03):
Thank you Chris Canty for reminding us all once again
how lucky we are to have Cincy three sixty and
the quality sports talk programming we have every day. Hi
for one, I'm grateful, thanks fellas.
Speaker 5 (01:27:18):
Season to be grateful. Thank you, thank you, grateful for that.
That's our last one. What a great way to end
on a They made sure to get them all in today.
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):

Football in the NATI on the Friday Football Frenzy.
Speaker 4 (01:27:31):
We're gonna do a touch and go and in the
hour with Football in the NATI.
Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
That's what we're doing on the Friday Football Frenzy on
the ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks to our
friends at Cincy shirts H prices are like a money
back right after this for the Friday Football Frenzy edition
of Football in the NATI. That'll wrap up our number
two and we'll cover another football when we start down
number three with Tom Gallader, the voice of FC Cincinnati.
We'll talk about the O Engine Blue to Kick off
(01:27:56):
the third and final hour of the Friday Football Frenzy.
All of this is still ahead on ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Spurting Nation.
Speaker 14 (01:28:02):
It's from the Durban Cooling Tempstar Weather Center. Here's your forecast.
Speaker 4 (01:28:06):
This report is sponsored by Lows.
Speaker 45 (01:28:09):
We'll see another very sunny afternoon, a few clouds here
or there, but temperatures will be a bit warmer, with
highs near eighty degrees. We'll fall through those seventies this evening.
Plans Tonight remain dry and we bottom out in the
mid fifties under mostly clear skies. Saturday, we're looking at
mostly sunny skies with highs back up around eighty degrees.
(01:28:29):
That's the forecast. I'm nine first Warning Meteorologist Erica Kolora.
Speaker 1 (01:28:34):
I'll put paul in Thennetti on the official home of
the Lengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 4 (01:28:40):
All right, welcome back.
Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
We got a quick minute here since e three to
sixty the Friday Football Frenzy edition. Thanks to our friends
at CINCI Shirt's Austin. We're going to get into the
pick in just a few minutes after Tommy g will
do our weekly pick him, your biggest key to victory
on Sunday is what control the clock. Now, you say
control the game. When the game ends, you have to
(01:29:03):
possess the ball longer than the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 5 (01:29:06):
Yes, control the clock. Keep Baltimore's offense off the field.
That's how you lose is by them spending a lot
of time on the field and putting your defense through it.
So to me, control the clock, control the line of scrimmage,
win the football game.
Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Yeah, I think this comes down to the line of scrimmage.
You can go with the cliches of win the turnover battle,
but I'm not sure that even helps if you don't
control the line of scrimmage. And you know what, for
for far too long, Austin, you could take still shots
of you know, the second after the ball is snapped,
(01:29:42):
and many times, outside of Trey Hendrickson, it is Bengals
defenders retreating. Can I don't I don't need them to
penetrate into the backfield, but can they at least hold
their ground? Can we have the old low man wins
and control the ground and let Logan Wilson, who threw
four games, is Pro Football Folks's highest graded Bengal in
(01:30:02):
the defensive side of the ball. Can you let him
play downhill and not have to catch guys at the
second line, Because while he's made a lot of tackles,
if your game play, if you're catching Derreck Henry four
yards down the field, that's gonna be catching Derek Henry
eight yards down the field. Yea, because he gets that
full head of steam. And on the offensive side, we've
highlighted a bunch about the pass protection and the run blocking.
(01:30:25):
You can't take a step back. You cannot take a
step back in that category. And if you do so,
if you hold your ground up front on the offensive
line and defensive line, you've got a great chance to
walk out of pay Corpse Stadium at two and three.
Speaker 4 (01:30:38):
We'll give our picks to that after Tommy G.
Speaker 5 (01:30:40):
By the way, the answer to Rappin' Ronnie the former
talkback president Ronald Reagan's question, Tony Perez, No, it's the
only other guy. Well play for Pete and now manage
the Reds.
Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
Tom Gallader, Tommy, Tommy, Tommy G. When we come back
to talk FC Cincinnati on the home of the Bengals,
Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen to thirty Cincinnati Sports station, The Friday
Football Frenzy.

the Friday Football Frenzy ESBN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.
We know a lot of football has already been discussed today.
Let's talk about the other football with the man covering
FC Cincinnati, the voice of FC Cincinnati, Tom Galtter. You
know miss Tommy g each and every Friday, Tommy, What's
(01:32:04):
going on?
Speaker 6 (01:32:06):
Tony, Tony, Tony?
Speaker 24 (01:32:07):
Good afternoon, happy to be here with you. What a
Friday in the Queen City, whether it's beautiful, The Reds
have their new manager. My guardians start the Alds tomorrow
and FC Cincinnati fan Appreciation Day, regular season home finale,
and an opportunity to get right.
Speaker 6 (01:32:25):
I'm great. How are you?
Speaker 4 (01:32:26):
I'm great?
Speaker 7 (01:32:27):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
By the way, Bengals Ravens on Sunday. What a weekend
it is. That's right before I dive in FC Cincinnati.
I do you just use the word my guardians, Well,
your guardians no longer associate with Terry Francona. He's the
Cincinnati red You know what, what were your immediate thoughts,
because you know, he stepped away, he retired, and a
(01:32:48):
year later here he is with the Cincinnati Reds and
a huge splash for the Cincinnati Reds.
Speaker 10 (01:32:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 24 (01:32:53):
Absolutely, And and to be crystal clear, I don't let
the Ohio Cup come between That's my thought.
Speaker 4 (01:32:58):
I mean, what did you think of the Ohio King
for the right of way?
Speaker 6 (01:33:01):
You know, I don't, I don't.
Speaker 24 (01:33:03):
I think it gets more intense, But I don't let
the how Cup come come behind between my appreciation for
the Reds fandom of the Reds. One hundred and fifty
eight games a year, and and my lifelong love for
The Guardian. So I just want to I want to
make that part clear. But I started getting text last
night about it, and I immediately thought that was a
great hire for the Reds. I mean, I think the
name was out there because he was available, But then
(01:33:26):
the folks that I had talked to this week, I
don't think there was a lot of chatter that it
was realistic that it was gonna be Tito. Obviously, his
track record speaks for himself. I think it's what thirty
six hundred games he's managed. I did fantastic in Boston.
I thought he did fantastic and won a lot of
games in Cleveland, And if I'm a Reds fan, I'm
pretty excited about it today. I just hope his health
is good and I'm sure that's something that he'd evaluated
(01:33:47):
during his year off, and I would imagine that that
it's good enough that that he can step back into
a dugout. But no, I'd be I'd be really excited
if I was a Reds fan today.
Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
Let's talk about the Orange and Blue, because yes, there
are two different avenues to talk about one there's the
team that still sits one point behind Columbus and for
second place in the Eastern Conference standings, and then there's
this other avenue where it just doesn't feel like they're
playing their best soccer right now. And you look, you
only got two matches left in the regular season. They
(01:34:18):
lose at home last week into LAFC, they lose earlier
this week to New York City. What is kind of
the state of this team right now when you're evaluating
some shaky play, but also where they still sit in
the standings is a really good spot.
Speaker 6 (01:34:35):
Yeah, I think it's.
Speaker 24 (01:34:37):
Look, your work that you put in across the course
of the year puts you in a place now where
you're not in a panic mode where you need to
lock in home field or you need to lock in
even a playoff spot, right because the team has been
consistently good enough all season that the drop and form
over the course of the week, you know, isn't the
end of the world, but is it concerning Absolutely, And
(01:34:58):
I think that Pat Newton is the first one tell
you as much that he knows his group needs to
come together and they need to play better. If you
listen to either of our broadcast. He's very frank about
it in the four interviews that we did with him,
you know, at halftime in postgame of those matches, and
he wasn't happy with the way the team performed and
understands that those performances have to be better. And you know,
(01:35:18):
he owned some of that after the game in New
York City and said, look, some of that starts with me.
My messaging to the group has to be better. And
I think that we need to see more intensity from
this group to start. I think I think everybody knows that.
And to say that their performances have been flat out
of the locker room the last two games is absolutely correct.
Speaker 6 (01:35:37):
I think the really disappointing one was LAFC.
Speaker 24 (01:35:40):
When LFC were coming off the US Open Cup win,
a celebration afterwards, champagne in the locker room. I would
imagine the celebration carrydown somewhere else. They didn't fly in,
they didn't get into late Friday, and it looked like
the other way around. Look like a team that was
tired that had celebrated Wednesday night, and LAFC looked like
a team that was rested. And I think that was
disappoint but I also know that that f C Cincinnati
(01:36:03):
have the horses and they have the players to be
successful and come together and have a great playoff run.
They just have to figure out exactly what those rotations
look like in the matchups and the different pairings of
players as they push forward. You know, with this game
on Saturday against a red hot Orlando team coming in,
it's been as good as anybody in the league. And
then you turn around two weeks later and you have
(01:36:25):
Philadelphia who might be fighting for one of the last
playoff spots. So it's gonna be a telling two games
going into the playoffs. But you'd much rather that we're
talking about this now than at the end of October
when the playoffs are starting.
Speaker 6 (01:36:38):
The team's trying to find themselves. You just hope they
can get it done over the next.
Speaker 2 (01:36:40):
Two games and finding themselves. I understand. Going into the
season there was a ton of new roles that were
established on this team, new players coming in, players leaving.
You deal with injuries all throughout the season, international breaks,
the players that leave for Team USA, do to everything
that goes into it. If this roster is one hundred
percent of the roster is right, does it do they
(01:37:02):
have the firepower offensively and defensively to compete for the
MLS Cup.
Speaker 24 (01:37:07):
Yeah, I believe so, especially defensively when Jidozi's healthy and
we're not going to see him tomorrow, you miss.
Speaker 6 (01:37:13):
A second consecutive game.
Speaker 24 (01:37:16):
But the hope is that he's ready for the Philadelphia
match and decision day, and and worst case than if he.
Speaker 6 (01:37:20):
Wasn't ready for that, then probably for the playoffs.
Speaker 12 (01:37:23):
You know.
Speaker 24 (01:37:24):
So that's a big concern because obviously we talked about
center back quite a bit this season. Gotta have Shodosi
back and in the mix for the playoffs, and and
then I think really as you build out the team
from there, you have everybody else available.
Speaker 6 (01:37:37):
The question becomes who are your strikers, And we've talked
about here. I think u Yakuba is one of them,
But who's the one next to him, Who's the one
that's that's.
Speaker 24 (01:37:46):
Taking that Brandon Basquez role that you fear as a
defender on the other team that you know could punish
you at any time.
Speaker 6 (01:37:55):
And we haven't been able to answer that question.
Speaker 24 (01:37:57):
And I think that's the part that really you want
to see get sorted out of these two games, is
you know, a definitive starting eleven for this team. The
lineup has not been repeated yet this season. That's wild
forty games insane and or forty one now, I guess,
And so you really want to, you know, have a
(01:38:19):
predictable lineup, right, Playoffs aren't the time where you're supposed
to be throwing like curveball.
Speaker 6 (01:38:24):
Oh, this person's starting. I didn't see that coming.
Speaker 24 (01:38:26):
You know, you want people healthy, and I think, look,
Sergio will be out of concussion protocols hopefully after this week,
and Chadosie, like we said, hopefully back for the Philadelphia
game in two weeks. And then you had your choice eleven,
and I guess then the question is you want it
to be settled as to who those strikers are, because
I think the rest of the positions are pretty settled.
(01:38:47):
And then you just need the team firing on all cylinders.
If that's the case, they can compete with anybody in
the league.
Speaker 2 (01:38:51):
I truly believe that fan appreciation Saturday against Orlando, one
more trip to Philly with a little break in between.
What is the top one or two things that you
need or want to see accomplished in the last two
going into the playoffs?
Speaker 24 (01:39:08):
Well, I want to see the team start fast. You
know that they were really good at that early in
the season. Ray and I talked about it a bit
on the broadcast on Wednesday night. You know, they had
that first half of the season. They had only conceded
the one goal early. That was against Frankie Amaya in
what the nineteenth minute or something against Red Bulls.
Speaker 6 (01:39:26):
Now you're starting to see.
Speaker 24 (01:39:27):
Teams jump on on the Orange and Blue early and
then they got their backs against the wall.
Speaker 6 (01:39:30):
They're fighting from behind, and then that just makes it
more difficult.
Speaker 24 (01:39:33):
So I think first we need that, we need to
see the quick start. We need to see the intensity
from that opening whistle. Remember the Orlando game back in May,
we just scored seventeen seconds and fastest going club history,
and it was kind of on the play off the
opening whistle. I want to see the team come out
and attack in the first fifteen minutes. Orlando has conceded
goals in the first fifteen minutes I think eleven this
(01:39:54):
season in the first fifteen minutes, so there's opportunities there
to jump on them. And if you could jump on Orlando,
that kind of changes a game plan and it takes
them out of what they're comfortable doing. So I think
that that's going to be very very important in this game.
And I think just seeing the continuity as a group.
The passing hasn't been great these two games in which
the team is lost, and I think if if the
(01:40:17):
passing is there, then that will lead to some of
these offensive opportunities to be more complete for c Cincinnati
in the final third.
Speaker 2 (01:40:25):
Tommy, when you now look ahead, I know for the team,
and we've discussed this a little bit of the team,
it's one match at a time. What do those potential
matchups look like? Based on Again, they're just one point
behind Columbus for that that true seed because of an
unbelievable performance from Messi earlier in the week in Columbus.
But have you allowed yourself to look ahead to what
(01:40:47):
some of these potential matchups could look like?
Speaker 24 (01:40:49):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:40:50):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 24 (01:40:51):
You know, we sit there and stare at the standy's
and I was just talking to folks to the facility
and we were laughing because right now as the three seed,
which is where Cincinnati sit, and Columbus have a game
in hand, so they can only be the two or
the three. Columbus of Cincinnati will well occupy those two
slots and right now to one point eventage to Columbus.
But as the three seed today, if the playoffs were
starting tonight after you contunt even playing in the first round,
(01:41:14):
wait for it.
Speaker 6 (01:41:15):
For the third consecutive year, the New York Red polls
which kind of pouring, you know when you.
Speaker 24 (01:41:21):
Think about it, you know, but but you've lost to
him twice this year, so you better be going and
have series with an edge.
Speaker 6 (01:41:28):
If that's the case, you could be playing New York.
Speaker 24 (01:41:30):
City you just lost to the other night, but you're
beating two other games at TQO Stadium.
Speaker 6 (01:41:34):
You could see Charlotte depending on how things shake out.
Speaker 24 (01:41:38):
And you have Orlando I think as a four or five,
so I don't think that they they would fall that far,
but maybe they get to the six if you were
the three, so so that would be a possibility as
well of you know, if not seeing them, then you
see them at some point.
Speaker 6 (01:41:52):
The top seven teams are playoff clinched.
Speaker 24 (01:41:56):
The only seed that's locked in right now is Miami,
and then the eight and nine ers still be settled
for that wild card game in the Eastern Conference.
Speaker 6 (01:42:03):
So no, I think it's I.
Speaker 24 (01:42:04):
Think it's interesting to look at and and you think
about it, and you want that two seed, right, you
want to jump ahead of Columbus, because then if you
play Columbus, if the seeds hold and you will get
out of your first round, that two three game would
be here as opposed to having to go up throw
to Columbus and do a very hostile environment, which obviously
you would love to have it here and try to
avenge that playoff loss against him last year. So no,
(01:42:26):
I think, you know, there's still a lot to be
played for in these two games, and you know, a
lot of storylines to keep an.
Speaker 6 (01:42:32):
Eye on and see how these matchups shake out.
Speaker 24 (01:42:35):
You know, as we were leaving Jersey on Wednesday night,
you know some of us were kind of joking, well
we you know, Bese that game was that Red Bull Arena.
You know we're going to be back here in a
couple of weeks for the playoffs, for the second game
of the first round, because that's.
Speaker 6 (01:42:47):
Just how it goes, right, So who knows if I
you know.
Speaker 24 (01:42:52):
I'm not allowed to bet on soccer, but man, I
wouldn't be shocked if we end up back at at
Red Bull.
Speaker 4 (01:42:56):
Arena, fantastic stuff. Tom Glader.
Speaker 2 (01:42:59):
As always, before I do let you go, I have
to ask, are you in must win mode for the
Cleveland Browns this week?
Speaker 4 (01:43:04):
Is this a must win at Washington Tony Tony?
Speaker 6 (01:43:07):
If you're not in must win mode every week? What
are you doing?
Speaker 4 (01:43:09):
When? When is jamis getting nod?
Speaker 6 (01:43:13):
I mean hopefully soon.
Speaker 16 (01:43:15):
I don't know, man, I have a headache.
Speaker 6 (01:43:18):
Maybe it's because of them. I don't it's just it's
very frustrating.
Speaker 24 (01:43:21):
Said, yeah, it must win, absolutely, but again it's one
of the hottest teams to start the season.
Speaker 6 (01:43:26):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 24 (01:43:28):
When I was talking to somebody today and you're kind
of saying, you know, it wouldn't be surprising to see him,
you know, kind of play up to the level of
where the Commanders are playing right now and create some
issues and have a really good game.
Speaker 6 (01:43:39):
But I can also see it just getting lopsided and
out of control. So it's been frustrating. You know, you
have Nick Chubb kind of lingering there now.
Speaker 24 (01:43:47):
Starting to practice coming back into the mix, so you'd
like to believe they can compete, and you know, then
you have Nick coming back in soon because the running
game hasn't been very good with your on forward.
Speaker 14 (01:43:57):
But yeah, I.
Speaker 6 (01:44:00):
Don't know, Tony, it's it's frustrating.
Speaker 4 (01:44:02):
Do you like Do you like the matchup with the
Tigers for the Guardians, I do.
Speaker 6 (01:44:09):
Accept, man, the red hot. I think you're getting the
hottest team in Major League Baseball coming in.
Speaker 24 (01:44:14):
I think I like it better than the Astros because
for whatever reason, the Guardian's always struggle.
Speaker 6 (01:44:17):
With the Astros. So I think I do.
Speaker 24 (01:44:20):
I'll let you know more about seven o'clock on Monday
night after I've watched Game two, so we'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:44:28):
Tommy.
Speaker 2 (01:44:29):
Always appreciative of your time, man. Enjoy the weekend. Was
this three matches in eight days?
Speaker 40 (01:44:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:44:34):
Three in a day?
Speaker 4 (01:44:35):
So yeah, you never stopped.
Speaker 6 (01:44:37):
Mantrats with the trip to Jersey.
Speaker 24 (01:44:39):
No, take a little deep breath after this one on Saturday,
and then get ready for Decision Day and then we're
in the playoffs and hopefully go until early December.
Speaker 2 (01:44:47):
Tommy, Always appreciate your time, man. We'll talk again next week.
Until then, have a great week.
Speaker 6 (01:44:51):
Pleasure, Tony. You do the same, brother.
Speaker 2 (01:44:53):
There he is Tommy Tommy Tommy tom Galater of FC
Cincinnati as he joins us each and every Friday. This
the Friday Football friend on the home of the Bengals,
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 16 (01:45:03):
Now you're C three sixty is back on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (01:45:16):
That's what I'm talking about. It's the Friday Football Frinday.
And if you're not ready and you can't really happy,
thank you to our friends at Penn Station. We're going
to make some picks here High School College NFL. After
taking a week off last week because we were both
off on Friday, we return Austin forty three and thirty
one on the year. I am thirty seven and thirty seven,
(01:45:37):
ready to make up some significant ground.
Speaker 4 (01:45:39):
I'm Terry Francona. You're David Bell.
Speaker 5 (01:45:41):
Wow, interesting, Right back down, Hu, SpongeBob. We'll see what
happens with Zach Taylor. You're Marvin Lewis. All right, I'll
take Marv. Okay, let's start with a battle of five
and one teams. It's Mount Healthy traveling to Harrison. You
want to know, like, what do you got to do?
Why isn't my school on the list? Well, you gotta
(01:46:01):
do something to get on the list. And both these
teams at five and one. This is a good matchup. Austin,
who you got. I don't know anything about either of
these guys, but I'm gonna go with Harrison.
Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
Yeah, I'm taking the home team as well in this one.
Dicky angle at quarterback is what angle the quarterback for
Harrison will get the job done. From Dayton, Yes, Purple
Friday all Tiora Elder Elder Elder Verse through the doors
walk the men of Moler. This game not at Moller,
This not at Elder. This game is at the Nip.
(01:46:32):
The Nip Nippert Stadium is going to be rocking tonight
about time Elder tough loss late in that game against
sat X last week.
Speaker 5 (01:46:40):
I don't think they recover in time. I got the
men of Moler in this one. I'm right there with you.
A tough hangover. I don't like picking against Ron Runk.
Speaker 4 (01:46:48):
But through those doors walk the men of Molar.
Speaker 2 (01:46:50):
I get asked all the time about our Dayton audience
and Archbishop Alter, and why don't we talk more about
the Alter nights? Well, you got to win games. Get
asked by one person God to win games in the Shaper.
This isn't about Alter. The reason this game is on
the list is because mcnick.
Speaker 4 (01:47:11):
Is a powerhouse right now? Is that right now?
Speaker 2 (01:47:12):
I know Alter's got this freshman quarterback, he's doing really
good things. He should probably come see me in the offseason.
We'll take that next step. Regardless of that, give me
Archbishop McNicholas tonight against Alter.
Speaker 4 (01:47:24):
You know what, I picked the same thing.
Speaker 5 (01:47:26):
I don't know anything about these teams, but I went
with three home teams to start it off. I mean,
I know Mueller and Elder added a neutral site. I
don't know anything, but I thought I like to name
McNicholas more than I like to name Alter, So I
picked them bulletin board material.
Speaker 4 (01:47:40):
I'm like a dog, you know, It's just like they
have you or a baby. Just pick one of the things.
You know, That's just me. How it comes to high school,
I don't know anything. How about a road dog. Do
you like?
Speaker 2 (01:47:51):
Saint X traveling to Louisville tonight? It's Louisville Trinity, proud,
proud football history at Louisville Trinity versus Saint xting off
a huge win against Elder.
Speaker 5 (01:48:01):
You know what, I think they take that momentum from
the win over Elder and they go down South and
they give it to Louisville Trinity and I'll take the Bombers.
Speaker 4 (01:48:08):
We are four for four in agreement.
Speaker 14 (01:48:10):
Blue.
Speaker 2 (01:48:11):
This isn't good for me because I can't make up
any games here, so I meant to get crazy on
these last two.
Speaker 4 (01:48:16):
How about Tip City? Yeah, traveling to Sydney tonight.
Speaker 24 (01:48:21):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (01:48:22):
Is it in Sydney or is it at tip I
believe this is at Sydney, really, I believe. So that's
why I put Sydney verse Tip City in Sydney at
Tip City. I do my research, which means I know
that Sydney doesn't have the great red defense. It should
be tip City at Sydney. Could be, that's kind of
how it's supposed to. But this isn't Sydney's best defense.
And I think Tip City may be a little bit shorthanded.
(01:48:43):
But I trust Tip City a quarterback, even though I
know Sidney's got a good quarterback. Give me Tip City
and whatever their mascot.
Speaker 4 (01:48:49):
Is, Uh, that's a great question. I can't remember.
Speaker 5 (01:48:52):
It's probably one of those old Indian mascots. Tip just
the Tip City. I'll take Tip City over Sydney tonight. What, Yeah, dumb,
this is unbelievable man, not dumb. All right, let's see
if you're dumb dumb, you're gonna take the Redding Blue
Devils or are you gonna take Jeff from Virginia and
(01:49:12):
Mike Petralia's Indian Hill Braves. We've got to come to
Veterans Memorial Stadium tonight. I can't imagine what the playing
surface is like at the VET because we've had a
month of no rain and then torrential downpours due to
the hurricane yep, and now a beautiful fall crisp to
(01:49:33):
the air. I'm sure they've let that grass grow over
the last couple of days, but that's no problem for
Indian Hill.
Speaker 4 (01:49:39):
I'll take the Indians to beat the Blue Devils.
Speaker 2 (01:49:42):
Bullyan board and bulletin board material, yep, because I'm taking
Indian Hill as well. Last time I did this, last
time I picked against Redding, they came out and beat Madeira. Okay,
didn't get to pick last week. They got boat raced
by Wyoming.
Speaker 4 (01:49:54):
This is really fun.
Speaker 5 (01:49:55):
This is continued proof that we don't talk to each
other about our picks before the show. We're both five
for five. Yeah, start, this is not good for me, actually,
six for six p two to that. I think this
is the first time in the history of picks Redding
Math that we both picked against our alma maters.
Speaker 4 (01:50:09):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:50:10):
SMU travels the twenty second ranked Louisville the line six
and a half for the Cardinals. Why because SMU is
four and one. SMU is actually playing some good football,
believe it or not.
Speaker 7 (01:50:25):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
They just had a win against Florida State. Not only
a win, they beat Florida State Austin forty two to sixteen,
and they beat TCU sixty six.
Speaker 4 (01:50:35):
To forty two.
Speaker 2 (01:50:36):
They are only loss against a very good BYU team
eighteen to fifteen.
Speaker 4 (01:50:40):
Who do you like in this?
Speaker 5 (01:50:41):
I'll take the cards. L's up Louisville first, Cardinals forever.
I believe that's what they say. Listen, SMU got to
come up to Louisville. Awesome stadium, atmosphere is really really cool.
I'll take the cards.
Speaker 2 (01:50:56):
This is the one that finally we're different because I
like the Mustang not to win. But you can't tell
me a team that put up one hundred and eight
points against TCU and Florida State's not going to score
on Louisville enough to cover six and a half. I'll
take SMU to cover the number. How about another number,
and this is the number of liquor drinks that Sam
(01:51:16):
Pittman is going to bring to Arkansas as they welcome
in fourth ranked Tennessee. I can't imagine how crazy that
environment's going to be. Number four Tennessee aut Arkansas. The
line is fourteen. I'll happily lay that because I think
the balls are a horse.
Speaker 4 (01:51:30):
Yeah, I do too.
Speaker 5 (01:51:31):
They've got a great offense, They've got a good defense.
This is a team that is rolling right now, and
Arkansas will be no match for them. At Jones at
and T Field.
Speaker 2 (01:51:41):
Michigan number ten in the country at Washington the line
is one and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:51:47):
Michigan National Championship rematch. Michigan is a dog on the road.
What do you like and why is it Michigan? I
like the Huskies to howl comfortably to cover that one
and a half over the Wolverine.
Speaker 2 (01:52:02):
I I was banking on you saying that because this
is such an easy cover for Michigan. They play bully
ball against Washington and get a win. How about Auburn
at Georgia not an enviable spot for Auburn with Georgia
coming off the loss, although I think they found something
in that loss. I think Georgia wins this big and
covers twenty time.
Speaker 4 (01:52:22):
I'm right there with you, Tony two. Not a problem
for the Bulldogs at all.
Speaker 2 (01:52:27):
Love and honor, travel stru I believe they call it
the glass ball in Toledo, that's true.
Speaker 4 (01:52:32):
Who do you like in this one? And why would
you pick against Chuck Martin?
Speaker 5 (01:52:36):
The Rockets are an absolute machine right now. This is
the best team in the MAC or the Toledo Rockets.
We've seen them go on the road into SEC territory
and take care of Mississippi State a couple of weeks ago.
This is when Toledo starts to go MAC played, Chuck
Martin starts to playing at home at Toledo home of
the Rockets. Blast off for the Blue and Gold up there, Alito,
(01:53:00):
I'll take the Rockets.
Speaker 2 (01:53:01):
Doesn't feel like the same Miami team as years past.
They get through their non conference and then last week
they need overtime at home to beat you. Mass UMass
is not a good team. Toledo is. Give me the
Rockets to cover. This is my mortal lock of the weekend.
Here Austin because the numbers down to eighteen and a
half on BETESPN. It's eighteen and a half. That means
if Ohio State scores three touchdowns, they win and cover.
(01:53:24):
Because there's no way with this defense. You've told me
that Jim Knowles has at Ohio State that Iowa puts
enough points on the board to cover eighteen and a half.
Speaker 4 (01:53:32):
I'll take Ohio State.
Speaker 5 (01:53:33):
Yeah, it's going to be a perfect weather day in Columbus.
Buckey's wearing the gray alternates. I said earlier that counts
for a touchdown in and of itself. I don't quite
understand the eighteen and a half unless it's just one
of those games where they feel like I was going
to drag you down into the mud with them and
keep it low scoring. But even if that is the case,
I feel like Ohio State can win by three touchdowns.
I'll take the Buckeyes.
Speaker 2 (01:53:54):
Although it is a matchup of teams not ranked, I
believe it's a really good matchup because you have Nebraska
and a lot of the hype that has been built
around them, and in undefeated Rutgers Scarlett nineteen coming into
Memorial Stadium and Lincoln Nebraska. They just went and beat
Washington the week before. They have a win out Virginia Tech.
(01:54:17):
Can Rutgers keep this close enough to cover six and
a half?
Speaker 5 (01:54:19):
Yes, as a matter of fact, I think they do.
I think they could win this game out right. Listen,
if there's one thing Greg Giano will tell you, catch
the ones they throw you CTO T T Wide. Dylan
Rayola is weird. He's cause playing Patrick Mahomes, He's gonna
throw a couple of interceptions. Give me the Rutgers to
win on the road. Certainly going to cover the six
(01:54:40):
and a half against Nebraska.
Speaker 2 (01:54:41):
Rutger's gonna have to run the ball in Nebraska, number
nine in the country against the run. I just think
Nebraska is too much at home. Give me Nebraska to
cover the six and a half. All right, NFL Action
nine to thirty in the morning Action Austin, Let's go
London from Tetenham Holtzbeck Vikings.
Speaker 4 (01:54:57):
Who do you like? I like the Vikings better.
Speaker 5 (01:54:59):
D defense Jets are just it feels like never really
they're put together all the way. Yet maybe eventually they will.
I don't think they do it against against Brian Floores
and his defense. I don't trust Nathaniel Hackett to be
a better coach.
Speaker 2 (01:55:13):
I think Aaron Rodgers has seen every defense known to man.
I think they make it a point to get it
to Breise Hall, to get it to Wilson, and I
think that's enough for the Jets to finally come away
with that Marquee win and make up for a terrible
loss against Denver.
Speaker 4 (01:55:28):
Give me the Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:55:29):
Bills at Texans the number plus one Texans are a
home dog Stefan Diggs revenge game. I thought the Bills
got exposed a little bit against the Baltimore Ravens. I
think the Texans ride that and get themselves a good
win here.
Speaker 5 (01:55:40):
Yeah, I'm right there with you. Bills are also missing
two starters on defense. I think the Texans will dominate
the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (01:55:46):
Saints Chiefs Monday Night Football. Five and a half is
what the Chiefs have to lay. They just put Rashid
Rice on ir You I believe said you like the Saints.
Speaker 4 (01:55:56):
Earlier in the week.
Speaker 5 (01:55:57):
Yeah, I like the Saints to cover that number. I
think I think I liked it a little bit more
when it was six and a half, but now it's
now to five and a half. I will take the
Saints to cover that number. I think this will be
a close, good, entertaining game. Mahomes just doesn't look great. Yeah,
and I think the Saints defense is just good enough
to cause some problem. I think this is the game
where Mahomes breaks out. I think this is the game
where Travis Kelce breaks out, and I think they cover
(01:56:20):
the five and a half. Let's get onto the AFC
North the Browns at the Commanders. Now, this to me,
Austin is the classic. I know I should take Washington,
but something about this game tells me that Cleveland will
find a way to win this game. I don't know
how they do it, but I think they do enough,
and a little bit of the Jaden Daniels momentum is
(01:56:42):
stalled because of that Browns defense.
Speaker 4 (01:56:44):
Give me the Browns to cover.
Speaker 5 (01:56:45):
Hail to the Commanders. Dan Quinn's got the boys going Jade,
and Daniels is gonna give what's his face, old Jim
Schwartz something he's never seen before. They've got a really
solid offense and their defense is a work in progress.
Speaker 4 (01:56:59):
So this could be a high scoring game. But I
like the Commanders to cover three over Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (01:57:04):
Steelers are a home favorite by two and a half
points over the Dallas Cowboys. I don't know what to
make of Dallas. I also don't really know what to
make of Pittsburgh at this point.
Speaker 4 (01:57:14):
Who do you like? How about them Cowboys? I'll take Dallas.
Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
I have the Cowboys as well, and what I think
is going to be a close one, But I just
I'm not sold yet with Justin Fields and the Steelers,
So I'll ride the Cowboys as well. And finally, at
one pm at pay Corpse Stadium, Derrick Henry and them boys.
Who knows if Davante Adams will be here too, because
it's cryptic tweet season and he just posted a picture
of Edgar Allen Poe, which, of course Edgar Allan Poe's
(01:57:39):
from Baltimore the raven nevermore whatever. All that is a
lot of stuff flying around right now around Davonte Adams.
Not gonna be a lot of passes flying around from
the Baltimore Ravens side. They're gonna try to run the rock.
Is it enough Austin to cover the number?
Speaker 4 (01:57:52):
Maybe?
Speaker 5 (01:57:53):
Davante Adams posted that because he's coming to Cincinnati and
he wants to beat the Ravens. Okay, the Bengals are
trading for Devonte Adams. Okay, who says no, I like this.
Why would the Ravens get Davante Adams? They can't they they?
Speaker 4 (01:58:04):
Yeah, another, I got a block for Lamar.
Speaker 11 (01:58:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
All they do is run. Yeah, Bengals Bengels.
Speaker 2 (01:58:13):
I'm taking the Ravens just to hope that I'm wrong,
and if I'm not wrong, at least my consolation game.
Speaker 5 (01:58:19):
As we I'll tell you right now, if the Bengals
win this game on Sunday, you're back. I'm sipping on
that super Bowl juice. Okay, all right, so this is
a super Bowl. What if they lose?
Speaker 2 (01:58:27):
If they lose, start looking at some mock drafts. Okay,
so this is super Bowl or season? Is what you're
claiming this on Sunday? Oh man, super Bowl or season?
All right, we're done with picks. We'll come back.
Speaker 5 (01:58:38):
If they lose, we start talking ourselves and how they're
gonna beat the Giants.
Speaker 14 (01:58:42):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:58:42):
We're gonna do the thing we did with the Reds,
which is well, if they can just get back to
five and everyone will RelA what if they win on Sunday?
I'm sipping on that Super Bowl juice there it is.
Speaker 2 (01:58:53):
That's our pick. Trust we're done well, We're not done
with the show. We're done with the segment. More still
to go on since the three sixties. Friday Football Frenzy

he's listening.
Speaker 2 (01:59:56):
He also told me that it's Tip City Tipic Canoes,
but I know that that's wrong. Yeah, it's the typic
Canoe Red Devils.
Speaker 4 (02:00:02):
Yes, that's what it is. So I couldn't remember. So
it's Red Devils and it's Blue Devils tonight.
Speaker 5 (02:00:06):
We should have known because there was a typic Canoe
Red Devil or a Tip City Red Devil or whatever
they are that beat uc On a walk off field
goal the other day a couple of weeks ago. Dude
from Pitt, let's just head back to break then. No,
I don't I have nothing. You got a good guy,
a little bit respects. You see said you see said
you could be a walk on, and Pitt said, we'll
give you a scholarship. So Buddy went to Pitt and
(02:00:29):
banged the game winner at nip Yep.
Speaker 4 (02:00:31):
That was fun. No, it wasn't.
Speaker 14 (02:00:33):
It sucked.
Speaker 4 (02:00:34):
I know it did. Yeah, but uh hey shout out
to uh the Tip City.
Speaker 2 (02:00:41):
You took my heart away a couple of weeks ago
with that field goal. Now give me life back and
beat Sydney tonight.
Speaker 5 (02:00:46):
Now I'm getting dirty looks and stuff from me our
boss DJ Hodge, who U it was for some reasons,
a big Nebraska fame. He was listening and is big
mad at me that I picked rudgersh You know, you
know Gray Ciano's thing back at least the No. Nine
was wo chop wood, chop wood, chop wood. That's all
he wanted to do. Do you know I just learned
(02:01:07):
this over the break. Who will be coming back to Lincoln,
Nebraska on Saturday for the game?
Speaker 4 (02:01:12):
Is it in Domkin? Sue?
Speaker 7 (02:01:14):
It is?
Speaker 4 (02:01:15):
That's pretty good. Not good for Rutgers.
Speaker 2 (02:01:16):
Not a good days. So that's not a good day
to be a scarlet night? Would you take in Dominican, Sue?
Would you take Todd Fraser?
Speaker 4 (02:01:22):
I would take in Dominican Sioux to play for the
Bengals on Sunday?
Speaker 9 (02:01:25):
Man?
Speaker 4 (02:01:26):
Can he make it Sunday? Because how did we not
ask about that guy?
Speaker 14 (02:01:30):
Yet?
Speaker 4 (02:01:31):
We should have called Duke Tobin what are we doing?
Could have called Sue? What are we doing? Man? Unbelievable?
Todd Fraser, Man, I love that guy. Did a great job.
He was a he was awesome. He's done a great job.
You should get him on the show. I'd like that.
Speaker 5 (02:01:48):
Ask him about Terry francona break ahead. Bet there's a
connection there.
Speaker 2 (02:01:53):
AJ psk a Persentski down a video today said congratulations
to Todd Fraser because your franchise now has a legitimate manager.
Speaker 4 (02:02:01):
There you go. AJ Pierzinski that dude could fight now, man,
so could Terry Francona.
Speaker 5 (02:02:06):
AJ Pierzinsky looks like an eagle. Okay, he looks like
a bird. We'll run with that. What's your what's what's
the best eagle sound you can make? Out of respect
to eagles, I won't do that.
Speaker 4 (02:02:18):
We'll be right back with quick hits and locks of

Speaker 5 (02:03:02):
All right, welcome back, mo is off on Fridays. Don't
forget Bengals pep Rally is next right here on ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. As we wrap up the
Friday football frenzy, let's go with this. FC Cincinnati back
in action tomorrow against Orlando. That is Fan Appreciation Night
at TQL Stadium. Bengals Ravens on Sunday. The Bearcats and
(02:03:24):
the Kentucky Wildcats both on a buy this weekend, and
while the Reds aren't playing this weekend, it feels like
the Reds got a major win today with the hiring
of Terry Francona. Outside of that, speaking of baseball, Tigers, Guardians, Mets, Phillies, Royals, Yankees, Padres,
Dodgers starting at one tomorrow, running through about nine o'clock
(02:03:46):
from a start time with Padres Dodgers that is, the
Nlds and the Alds with eight teams remaining in Major
League Baseball. Fantasy football update for those of you trying
to figure out your lineups going into the weekend, and
two Giants updates. Giants wide receiver Malik Neighbors will not play,
recovering from his concussion. The Bengals play the Giants next
(02:04:09):
Sunday Night. Also, Giants running back Devin Singletary, with a groin,
is listed as doubtful. Another running back, Raiders running back
Zameir Wright, also with a groin, also listed as doubtful.
Two more running back updates Austin Eckler, who suffered a
concussion here on Monday Night Football. Eckler is going to
(02:04:29):
return this week for the Commanders against the Browns. Jonathan
Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts will not play this weekend.
I think he's dealing with the hamstring injury. And Brown's
tight end David Joku has a high ankle sprain. He
is questionable with a chance to play for the Browns
against the Commanders this weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:04:49):
Man, that's a lot going on, that is that's a lot,
especially lot, especially for me right now as I'm sitting
with Malik neighbors, David and Joku and.
Speaker 4 (02:04:59):
Jonathan twe okay, all on my fantasy right, that's awesome.
I can't wait. Did I miss anything from this weekend?
Speaker 14 (02:05:05):
Not that I know?
Speaker 4 (02:05:06):
All right, Then let's get to Locks of the Weekend
with moager Hey Degenerates.
Speaker 42 (02:05:13):
It's time for Locks of the Weekend, presented by Cincy shirts,
visit the stores in Hyde Park, Lovelin, or on Dixie
Highway in Fort Mitchell and always online at sinceyshirts dot com.
Speaker 4 (02:05:23):
Now let's make you some money.
Speaker 14 (02:05:26):
Okay, guys, thank you so much.
Speaker 11 (02:05:27):
It's time for Locks of the Weekend from my side
of the table on ESPN fifteen thirty, a service of
Cincy Shirts dot com. By the way, something you guys
might not know about me, my nickname is also Tito.
Let's start with college football, where the Bearcats are on
a buy and where Indiana has cashed some tickets for
us so far this year. The Hoosiers are laying thirteen
(02:05:48):
and a half points. The Hoosiers are five and zero.
The Hoosiers are four and one against the spread. The
Hoosiers are ranked. The Hoosiers offensively are really good. They're
in the top fifteen in both rushing and passing success rate.
They've run up big scores against UCLA and Maryland. Northwestern
in three games against FBS opponents this year has failed
to score more than two touchdowns, and two of them.
Speaker 14 (02:06:10):
How are they covering this number? I'll take you.
Speaker 11 (02:06:13):
I'll lay the thirteen and a half points. Ohio State
and Iowa Buckeyes are nineteen and a half point favorites.
I don't know how Iowa scores in this game. Now,
Hawkeye fans are thinking, we can run the ball, we
can take the air out of the ball, we can
shorten the game, we can keep Ohio States offense off
the field. Look at some point, Ohio State's gonna take
the lead. Ohio State's gonna play from ahead. And then
(02:06:34):
the Hawkeys offensively, with an offense that is ninety eighth
in expected points added per pass and one hundred and
twenty seventh in explosive pass rate, are gonna try to
mount a comeback. Ain't gonna happen. I'll lay the nineteen
and a half points with the Buckeyes. Numbers should be higher.
UAB is awful, winless against FBS competition, lost by twenty
six to Louisiana Monroe. Greenway blew out USF who we
(02:06:57):
were high on three weeks ago. Not anymore Greenway. They've covered.
The number is fourteen and a half points UCLA. We
have taken them back to back weeks, getting a big number.
They have not let us down twenty three and a
half against Oregon. Bruins covered twenty one against LSU. Bruins
covered biggest number to date twenty seven and a half
against Penn State. They haven't let us down yet. Why
(02:07:18):
bail I'll take the Bruins. I'll take Georgia lost last week,
so they're angry. Also, that offense woke up in the
second half. Twenty four and a half points is big.
I'll lay the number happily. I cannot believe Tennessee is
a less than two touchdown favorite against Arkansas.
Speaker 14 (02:07:33):
The Razorbacks have scored just forty.
Speaker 11 (02:07:35):
One total points against Auburn and A and M, and
now they're playing one of the best defenses in the country.
This number should be closer to seventeen and a half.
It's thirteen and a half. I'll lay it with the balls,
and I'm gonna fade Bama. Yes, Alabama. The public is
riding high on the Crimson tide, right, I'll fade it.
It's a bit of a letdown spot after the huge
game last week. By the way, remember with the new
(02:07:56):
playoff format, everybody said these regular season games aren't gonna
matter as much. Go back and watch that game Alabama Georgia.
Speaker 14 (02:08:03):
It mattered. But here's what else matters.
Speaker 11 (02:08:05):
Vanderbilt is averaging forty five and a half points per
game at home. They have a good quarterback, Diego Pavia,
who has thrown for seven hundred and twenty one yards
and six touchdowns, no picks two to seventy nine on
the ground, and a couple of scores. Alabama wins last week.
Is a dog, still just two and five in the
last seven games dating back to last season against the spread.
Speaker 14 (02:08:23):
I'll take the twenty three and twenty three points with
Vanderbilt in the NFL.
Speaker 11 (02:08:28):
You want the entire Week five slate every game, Well,
I've written about him for Forbes Betting, where I am
twenty seven to twenty and two.
Speaker 14 (02:08:37):
We didn't do Week one because we were still negotiating
twenty seven to twenty and two.
Speaker 11 (02:08:43):
So you can get the entire slate. I've posted it
on Twitter, It's on my Facebook. I'll throw it up
there on Instagram. But I'll give you a couple of games,
including the Bengals. So Panthers Bears Chicago is a home
favorite of four points. Andy Dalton played credibly against the
Bengals and now on another one of his former teams.
Do you think you would have to go remind the
people at Soldier Field that yes, Andy Dalton once played
(02:09:05):
for the Chicago Bears. Caleb Williams, who I know a
lot of people are rooting for because they think he's
weird and Lucas press conferences, actually last week made progress.
Chicago beat the Rams. Caleb had his highest completion percentage
and passer ratings to date and did not throw a pick.
The offensive line blocked. The Bears might not ever approach
(02:09:27):
the offensive potential that a lot of people talked about
them having during the preseason, but they ran for four
point seven yards per lug against the Rams last week,
and they have covered the spread in five consecutive home games.
That is the NFL's current longest streak. I haven't seen
enough from the Panthers to think they can break it.
I'll lay four points with the Bears at home. Let's
(02:09:49):
give you Cleveland and Washington. You talk about a game
with two fan bases that right now are at total
polar opposite extremes about their quarterback. Jayden Daniels has done
something that no politician can ever do. He has stirred
optimism in Washington, and understandably so. Eighty two point one
percent completion percentage in his first four starts. It's historic. Meanwhile,
(02:10:14):
in Cleveland, they cannot wait to get rid of Deshaun Watson.
They cannot wait to get rid of Deshaun Watson's contract,
and they cannot wait to lose the Ohio Cup to
Tito Francona and the Reds, and they cannot wait to
watch Washington blow them out. Commanders are laying three and
a half points. We'll go ahead and take Washington as
a favorite. So you watch the Ravens on Sunday night,
(02:10:37):
and you're scared. You're scared of Derrick Henry, and you're
scared of Lamar Jackson, and you're scared of what that
Baltimore offense can do. And frankly, you're scared of what
that Baltimore defense can do because it finally got after
the quarterback and Josh Allen. But let me tell you
what they should be feeling in Baltimore right now. Fright
because Joe Burrow is an underdog. Joe Burrow is an
underdog is fourteen and eight. Joe Burrow is an underdog.
(02:11:00):
Maybe never played behind an offensive line as good as
the one he played behind last week.
Speaker 14 (02:11:05):
What is there to not like? About this Bengals offense.
Speaker 11 (02:11:08):
We could talk about the issues on defense, and we
have all week, and we could talk about the injuries
on defense, and we have all week.
Speaker 14 (02:11:14):
They're healthy on offense. What don't they have?
Speaker 11 (02:11:17):
They have elite wide receivers, they have a thousand different
tight ends, including future Hall of Famer Eric All. They've
got some versatility in the backfield, and they've got an
offensive line that is blocking. Baltimore has to figure out
a way to slow down a Cincinnati defense that is
combined to score sixty seven points over the last two games.
They've scored eight touchdowns. Burrow did throw the pick that
(02:11:37):
last week, but for the most part, they're playing not
mistake free, but they've minimized the mistakes. I'll take a
desperate team. I'm getting points two and a half the
Bengals at home. Do they win it outright? I'll say yes.
If the answer is no, we'll be sorting through a
lot on Monday on the Tony and Mo Football Show
at Twin Peaks in Florence. But I think a desperate
(02:11:59):
Bengals team jumps back into the race, and at the
very least from a betting perspective, if I'm getting Burrow
in a healthy offense and two and a half points
and they're at home. I'm gonna take them. Yes, there's
some trepidation, but I feel good about it. We'll talk
about it in further detail. Tell me if I'm wrong.
At Holy Grail Sunday morning, starting at nine am, Tony.
(02:12:19):
Can't wait to see you there. Guys, have a great weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:12:23):
Thank you, pranks.
Speaker 2 (02:12:24):
I can't wait to be at the Holy Grail on
Sunday at nine am leading up to Bengals Ravens. I
like what Mo finished with there. We make a lot
about stopping the Ravens run game. Ravens have to stop
the Bengals too, Let's not forget about that. As far
as the lines going, what Moe talked about. Love Ohio state,
what'd you say? Love the Ohio state number? Okay, love
(02:12:45):
Nebraska minus six and a half. And for Moe's reasoning,
I'll ride with UCLA, Georgia and Tennessee and the NFL
side three games that I really like. I like the
Jets early in London to cover the number. I like
the Texans over the Bills, and I like the Kansas
City Chiefs. This game can go one of two ways.
They either suffer their first loss or they look as
impressive as always. Mahomes takes a step forward, Travis Kelcewert
(02:13:08):
turns to form, and the Chiefs find a way to
win that game. It's all the time we have for
Austin producing right now, who's done a great job.
Speaker 4 (02:13:19):
Thanks Austin Tone, Thank you, and likewise for our.
Speaker 2 (02:13:22):
Callers, listeners, talkbackers, guest and everyone else that helps make

I had to tell you that Bengals pep Rally is

ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports.
Speaker 4 (02:13:54):

Speaker 3 (02:14:26):
