good thing. We don't have rain in the forecast tomorrow.
We don't have rain in the forecast yet on Sunday,
which means as we sit here today, a rain free

(01:34):
weekend in Cincinnati. That's something to celebrate. Also, something to
celebrate the show that we have today. Yes, Charlie Goldsmith,
Chuck one o'clock, I'm already ready to ask Charlie because
of what our friend Joe Daniman said, what's gonna happen?
Quicker Hunter Green wins u Cy Young, Ellie de la
Cruz wins An MVP. We'll talk about that and much

After that, Frank Caliendo joins us. Let's go Frank Caliendo
ahead of his uh, his show tonight and two shows
tomorrow at the Liberty Bone or at the Funny Bone
Liberty Township. So Frank's gonna join Liberty Bone, the Liberty Bone, Biberty, Biberty, Biberty.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Can't wait? What could go wrong with the lee in here?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
What could go wrong with a guy like Frank Caliendo
who is famous for his voice, uh, impressions to come
in and just really analyze me trying to talk to.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Him for dude, I'm so fired up. Yeah, I can't
wait for that.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Yeah, I'm gonna have to clean that up between now
and two twenty uh and then of course in in
our three at the end, we'll do quick hits.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Mowaggar will join us Liberty Biberty, Liberty Biberty tonight and
two shows tomorrow at the Liberty at the Liberty Bone,
Bunny Bone in Liberty Township to see Frank Caliendo. He
stops by ahead of that the Liberty Boat. I think
that was what they used to call Ben Franklin back
in the day, something like that, Liberty Biberty. We'll look

(03:23):
ahead to the Reds and Pirates series this weekend. Red's
head into the series at five and eight. Let's look
at everything else that's going on around the sports world.
Let's do this first, Austin, are we inching closer or
do we now have officially our first ever hold in
at the college football level. That's what it looks like.

(03:45):
This is unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
The story coming out of Tennessee with their quarterback Nico
Iam Malayeva, Eam Malayeva.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
I don't think that's it. Oh well, that's what the
pronunciation guy says on that. All right, we'll just go
at that. Yah Malayva Nico the quarterback of Tennessee, Ia Maliava.
He had a pretty good year last year until he
came to Columbus and got his helmet cracked. That's true.
He literally broke his helmet, and I think they might
have broken his brain because now he's not showing up
the practice.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Well, so what's happened is he's been in conversations with
Tennessee about a new contract. So now we're in college football,
and we're talking about new contracts. He had a good
year last year. He wants them to revisit his nil negotiations.
And this has been going back and forth. Well, it

(04:35):
took a further step today Austin when Nico failed to
show up at Tennessee's morning practice today.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
I guess we can.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Officially say we have our first hold in all right,
at the college sports level, let's go Well, you know,
we kind of talked about this with Matt mckown and
Kyle Decker of Red Brick Legacy. When someone resets the
market this now is going to have effects on all
of college sports as well. Right, other players that are unhappy,
they're just going to do the same thing. Right, They're

(05:05):
going to hold out. I'm not going to practice till
I have something in place. It is it has been
said that Nico is willing to hit the transfer portal
if a deal is not met. I mean, how do
these college coaches go about getting through with this now?
I mean we use the term wild wild West. This

(05:27):
is the wild wild West, and this is the first
step of I guess the next step of the power
that the college athlete holds. Right now, we talked about
the market resetting yesterday. How much money these kids are asking.
And now here's a quarterback that came off of a
good season and it's saying, hey, I performed well enough

(05:49):
last year. I'm not playing under this current deal. I mean,
this is the same conversation Austin we've talked about with
Trey Hendrickson right, wants a new deal outperformed as last deal.
Now it's at the college football level. I'm sure it'll
be at the college basketball level eventually. College sports first
official hold in the Masters are are currently underway. It's

(06:14):
day two of the Masters leaderboard right now has Justin
Rose at eight under through eleven holes.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
There it is, I'm about the big leader.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
Of the day.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
I think we can play this trouble for this.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Bryceon Deshambo three under through six holes. Come on, Bryce's
all possession of second place. I see you at the Masters.
Just two back of Justin Rose. Matt McCarty fired a
seventy one in round one. He's backed that up already
three under today through eight holes.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Did you notice there's a McCarthy and am excuse me
and a McCarty. Yeah, And they were next to each
other on the leader board like all day, Yes, yes,
confusing at all.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Scotty Scheffler tees off at a one twenty three to
follow up yesterday sixty eight. How about Jason Day was
two under yesterday. He's getting ready to go at a
one twelve this afternoon, future friend of the show, Future friend.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
Of the show.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
And Roy McElroy a little bit of a letdown late yesterday.
Oh my gosh, a meltdown, if you will. Is now
at one under. He is plus one through seven holes today.
Will update all the action as it continues to happen
later on this afternoon at the Masters.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
It looks absolutely stunning there today.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Yeah, what do you do? Like, what do you do today?
If your Nick dunlap? Yesterday he fired a ninety? Oh man,
he's eighteen over. He tees off at twelve fifty. What
do you think his thoughts are going into this round?
Who's he playing with?

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Is what I would to do?

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Yeah? What group is he in? Do we have that?
I don't have that in front of me. I'll see
if I can pull it up real quick. But I mean,
you got to master it. You got to be as
aggressive as possible, right, Yeah, because if you're in that
group yesterday.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
You're probably struggling because you're waiting around a lot.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
Billy Horschell and Robert McIntyre are who he's with. Oh, Billy, Billy,
Now Billy can play a little bit. I don't know
anything about Robert.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
Well.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Billy was plus five yesterday, probably because he had to
wait thirty minutes in between eight shot.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
That's gonna be a tough one for old Nicky Dunlap.

Speaker 7 (08:18):
Just you know what?

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Fire? Yeah, fired at the whole yep, who cares see
what happens?

Speaker 4 (08:24):
Man, that's gotta be tough. How about Freddy Couples too?
Was about to say Freddie was one under yesterday.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Fred's about the tee off here in just a couple
of minutes, he eagled on what fourteen? That was pretty cool?
And then I was also really neat to see Bernard
Langer yesterday. This is his final Masters. Yeah, and he
came out in the same outfit he wore in his
first Masters forty years ago. That was pretty neat and
only fired a seventy four plus two. Pretty good.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Patrick Reid was minus one yesterday. If you listen to
any of his comments after his round, you just thought
he was plus twenty one.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
One of the funniest quotes I've ever heard from an
athlete was yesyesterday Patrick Reid talking about how bad he
was putting. Yeah, exact quote. I was hitting it fine.
Ball striking wasn't a problem. The flat stick is on
vacation and needs to kind of show up. It needs
to get on a flight and meet me here. Yes,

(09:18):
my putter needs to get on a flight and meet
me here. The flat stick is on vacation.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Very very good. What I thought was also cool yesterday.
Ken Griffy Jr. Is on the grounds man, He's taken photos.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I'm going to reach out. I have a friend of
a friend who might have a connection to Junior, and
I'm going to reach out and just see if, like
next week, he'd come on and talk about it.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Love it.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
So, if you're a person who prays, if I were
to get Frank Caliendo and Ken Griffy Junr. Within the
span of a week, I'd probably quit this job pretty good.
It'd probably be done pretty good. So other news going
on today, Joe fl goes back in Cleveland. He's gonna
get four million dollars to go compete with the Cleveland
Browns and Kenny Pickett. I guess that should be fun.

(10:07):
That just means the Browns aren't picking a quarterback, right,
I would think so, But who knows? Who knows how
the draft will shake up. We'll talk about the latest
draft buzz. There's a new mock draft out FC Cincinnati's
at DC tomorrow. We'll talk about that with Tom Gallairder.
We'll get the latest happenings from a transfer portal in
college basketball standpoint as they become available.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
NBA is nearing their playoffs. I think the NBA Austin
just has a game or two left, correct, they might
right now? I think there is, at least from an
Eastern Conference standing standpoint, everything is pretty set from the
teams that have been eliminated Toronto, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Washington
in the East, Utah, New Orleans, San Antonio, Portland. And

(10:52):
how about the Phoenix Suns with Devin Booker Man.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
I saw some crazy stats of Evin Durant some state
that's about them. I saw the other day that they're just,
I mean, just unbelievably unlucky season for the who else
to the head they have? Oh, they have Bradley Beal
as well.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Yeah, gosh, That's what a disappointing team that was.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Do you think eventually the play in Tournament will just
be called the Chicago Bulls Invitational, probably, since that's just
all they can get to every year.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Yeah, they have well out of out of the West,
the Kings and Mavericks of clinch playing Burst and Nico
Collins as much criticism as he's taken. How about how
about the job he's done to get Dallas to the
play in game. Yeah, great job. Minnesota, Memphis, Golden State, La, Denver,
Los Angeles, Houston, Oklahoma City out of the West Eastern
Conference champions of the Cleveland Cavaliers. And then it's Boston,

(11:41):
New York, Indie, Milwaukee. The Detroit Pistons finished in sixth.
That means the Magic, Hawks, Bulls, and Heat still alive
from a playing standpoint as the NBA season winds down.
The Denver Nuggets Austin. Yes, that Denver Nuggets team that
just got rid of Michael Malone is in the playoffs.
Let's go the Memphis Grizzlies, who fired their coach in

(12:02):
the playoffs. And you gotta be careful saying Memphis and
firing at the same time, because you got John Moran
on that team, he got fined for doing like the
gun thing after a made three. So now he's throwing grenades,
He's trying to bring a bazooka out at some point,
what is he doing?

Speaker 8 (12:18):
You know?

Speaker 3 (12:19):
I was just listening to Clinton Yates who was just
on before us, and you know, he he kind of
made a good point that I hadn't really thought of,
and it was going back to Charles Barkley's commercial back
in the day that he is not a role model.
And at the end of the day, it is up

(12:39):
to parents to police and inform their kids on who
is and is not a role model. And there are
all sorts of gun related terminology slaying that is used
in the game of basketball, and Jaw leaning into that
also maybe leaning into being gang banger. I don't know,

(13:01):
but you know, is Jaw asking to be a role model?

Speaker 7 (13:07):
Right?

Speaker 3 (13:08):
And is it not like a perfect example of what
not to be?

Speaker 5 (13:13):
Like?

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Are you gonna tell Wilder to point finger guns when
he makes No, You're not You're gonna say, hey, see
what he did, don't do that. Yeah, So maybe that's helping.
Maybe it is okay, Well then good for just Jaw's
not trying to be a role model. True, so valid.
Thank you point well taken, and shout out to Clinton
Yates because I had not really thought about it that way,

(13:34):
and he did a great job outlining that we have
buttons on before us here on ESPN fifteen thirty. By
the way, great show. We have a fun rest of
the show. As we mentioned, Charlie Goldsmith, Tom Glad or
Frank Caliendo Moagger will all be here at some point today.
But in that.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Our pole question for some maybe a little demoralizing today
when you think about some certain things that are happening
with the Bengals and the Reds, do you want to
go ahead and give it?

Speaker 3 (13:58):
I did try to bring everybody down today, but I
guess I did. Revivefitnessystems dot com poll question presented by
Revived Fitness Systems and coach PJ. Street. You can get
comprehensive accountable at base Coaching under four dollars a day.
Check out PJ and his program. Which do you have
more faith in, Oh boy, the Bengals defense or the

(14:20):
Reds offense? Sixty nine percent say the Bengals defense.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Which is crazy because we saw the full season of
the Bengals defense and how bad it was, and.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
We are only we saw it for two years in
a row.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Yeah, we're only like a small percentage into the Bajor
League Baseball season and people are already like Reds.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Offenses jumping off that tight ship that the Reds are running. Correct.
I think I would vote Reds on this.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Is that crazy no, because I think if if you
think of it.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
In the stance of full healthy or fully healthy and
full potential, I feel like it's the Reds. Yeah, I
do too.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Seventy one percent of people who disagree with us, You
can go vote at audio or at Tony Underscore Pike

Speaker 8 (17:00):
Step in the right direction way to win a ball game,
to take it into Chicago.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
How about that? Write it down, Austin. Good things happen
when you put the ball in play.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
That was the Red Sox Radio Network a walk off

Speaker 4 (18:19):
My wife is a huge Harry Potter fan, so I
will watch it loosely, but I'm not a huge fan
of it.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
I was like never allowed to watch it. I was
told Harry Potter much like John Morant, not a role model.
But as I got older, some of my friends started
watching it, and I like was over one day I
came over one day and they were in the middle
of watching it. Okay, so I sat down. I thought
it was awesome. Okay, I'm all in on Harry Potter.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
Looking ahead as well next week because Ron Weasley Weasley, Yeah,
that's part of the home stand as well. On Tuesday,
it is a Jackie Robinson Adhesive Patch Day.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
And well, just to clarify, it's Jackie Robinson Day and
we get an adhesive four.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
Jackie Robinson Day, celebrating the day that Jackie Robinson broke
baseball's color barry in nineteen forty.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
That sounded like something that the Pittsburgh Pirates would say.
Oh man, hey, it's Jackie Robinson Adhesive Patch Day. Yes.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Also, go see Frank Caliendo at the Liberty Bone this
weekend as well. Let's take some phone calls please, I
don't have to talk right now, Jeff, what's up?

Speaker 12 (19:24):
Happy Friday?

Speaker 5 (19:25):
Gents?

Speaker 13 (19:27):
Is Justin Speed's going to be at the Liberty Bone
tonight too?

Speaker 6 (19:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
I think he's opening for Frank.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
Yeah, because Jordan will probably be He'll probably miss the cuts.
We'll probably fit Jordan to try to make tomorrow show.

Speaker 14 (19:39):
Yeah, that's good. I went to the Caps game last
night with with the ceremony for Ovie. Yeah, and I
was I was sitting there laughing. So Obie got a
solid gold hockey stick. Each one of his kids got
a solid gold hockey stick. The mom and the father
in law got Rolexes, and the wife's got a Cardia

(20:01):
watch Man. And I was laughing at myself. I'm like,
at the wrnt of honor? Is it like, Hey, here's
this jacket with tiger stripes on the inside of it.
By the way, that was a buck fifty Uoa.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Didn't they have like the pro shop or the gift shop.
Didn't it turn just like the ov shop?

Speaker 12 (20:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (20:21):
There, you couldn't get inside of it.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Unbelievable, it was.

Speaker 14 (20:24):
I went like almost at the end of the second
period and picked up a few things.

Speaker 13 (20:29):
I sent Austin a picture of the.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Twel they are hanging out last night.

Speaker 14 (20:31):
It is really cool. It was really really cool. Good
guy deserves all the credit in the world. And the
Hurricanes came over and shook his hand in the line,
you know, after all the ceremonies and everything. A couple
thoughts on the Masters. I would say, mister Dunlap is
probably sitting there saying I'm one of ninety five people
who get to play Augusta for free for two days

(20:54):
in a row.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
I guess for him too. You take the pressure away too.
You don't really have to play for anything today.

Speaker 14 (21:00):
Yeah. Yeah, they didn't show much of his round, but
you you tell me, I get two free rounds of Augusta.
I'll be there in five minutes, definitely. I saw yesterday
it's like three hours to play nine holes, and that's
not even playing with Patrick Cantley. So I'm like that

(21:21):
they should.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
They should put those guys together. Can't see you fast.

Speaker 12 (21:27):
That must get a little frustrating after a while. But
I just saw Austin.

Speaker 14 (21:32):
Have you heard the guy announcing the guys on the
first team? I haven't, so you know how we used
to make fun of that guy at the British Open
ivor Rosberg or whatever. The guy Augusta sounds like you
when you answer the phone. You have to make a
point when Scheffler whatever Scheffler's tea time is. If you
guys are in a break, turn up the volume and

(21:54):
hear the guy's when he announces the guy in the
first team.

Speaker 12 (21:58):
It'll give you a laugh.

Speaker 14 (21:58):
On the check all right, we'll stay warm and let's
try to get two out of three this weekend from
the pirates.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
Thank you, just appreciate that. I want the sweet I
want the whole damn thing.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
You just want to be able to say. Here, we
are at five hundred on Monday. That's it, that's what
you're looking. It's the goal. Speaking of the Masters, did
you see yesterday Max Homa hit the guy that was
supposed to tell him not to swing. Unbelievable from There's
been some stuff going on that's just not Masters, like
from where Homa was. It was a great shot. Yeah,

(22:31):
and the other what about I feel like we've buried
the lead here in our review of yesterday's top sports
story is brought to you by Classroofing Systems of Cincinnati,
trusted local roofing and gutter company. Visit here since with
a hy dot com. How about that dude, the amateur
champ wearing the upside down sun Devil's hat, which was
a terrible look. His whole fit was awful. We talked

(22:52):
about it and he peed in Ray's Creek and then
admitted it to the meeting and said he would do
it again. That is like, how is he still at Augusta,
nashvill correct. I bet Fred Ridley was, and and the
way he laughed at often was like I do it
again if I had to the fact that like that happened.

(23:14):
Homa drilled the dude that was telling him not to
play and just all just some weird stuff. It looked
like he'd been shot off the bounce. H Mike is
calling it. What's up, Mike, Mike? What's up? Hello, Mike?

(23:38):
Do we have Mike? I guess not. We'll put him
back on hold. We'll try again later. Okay, you're gonna
go to Silverton. What's up? Kenny?

Speaker 15 (23:47):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (23:48):
How you doing good? How are you?

Speaker 5 (23:51):
Thank you?

Speaker 15 (23:51):
Only highlights I saw from the Masters was McElroy's kids
hitting a putt that accident. I thought, come on, we
put too much focus on kids nowadays, unlike just a
few years back when kids were seen and not heard
in my mom's era. Speaking of scene and I heard,
I thought I'd seen and heard everything till I saw
the news about a week ago or so, and they said, well,

(24:15):
our top story was a lunar module fell to earth.
And they got by that one real quick, just to
get to the real important news at the Cincinnati football
team signed two wide receivers more important than a lunar
module coming to earth. I appreciate your laughter because I
am a controversial.

Speaker 13 (24:34):
Caller and I don't have to be.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
I'm not sure after the first story when you said
the thing about kids, Kitty, I wasn't sure where this
was going. I didn't think you'd work in lunar modules,
but you found a last.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
I'm a grumpy old white guy. Give me a break sometimes,
you know, I don't want all your callers.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Hey, what do you got going on this weekend? Can
do anything fun? I don't know.

Speaker 15 (24:57):
I might throw out and do some Terario drink.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
What's your karaoke song?

Speaker 15 (25:04):
Well, it's not a song like some people have their
go to song. I've got about forty songs, Country Elvis,
all kinds of different steff that I do. Singer implicate
the voice pretty good?

Speaker 5 (25:15):
Yes, I am. I got a CD.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Give us a little bit of hold On, give us
a little bit of Elvis. So you say you wrote
what do you go for me? Reading me like a
foo reading me?

Speaker 6 (25:27):
Who love me?

Speaker 15 (25:30):
My goodness, I don't even know that song?

Speaker 3 (25:36):
Pretty good?

Speaker 15 (25:37):
Sometimes, Yeah, and the second part of my unbelievable. Was
the other night it was Mike Artists and Sari. She
was on the and and and Mike interrupted her said,
hold on, we've got a breaking story here. Hold On
interrupted her in the Melville story said the res manager,
the res manager has got flu symptums. He's to be
going back to the motel now with a couple of
ball players by his side. I looked at the TV like,

(25:59):
you got to you gonna erupted this woman in their
top story say that the Reds manager has to sniffle
you chilling me over here. Don't hold back that laughter now.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
Don't.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Kenny? Thank you man?

Speaker 4 (26:14):
All right, Kenny. We'll talk to you next week. Thank you, Kenny.
Call us again next week, please. Kenny had the whole bit.
I was so nervous where that was going because he
started to making it.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
I mean, he's why I took control of the conversation.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Negative comment about Rory's kid, which I thought was one
of the best parts about the Masters.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
But then I feel like when Lunar.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
Modules he's talking about the news, he's singing us Elvis
did we should have told Kenny we got Caliendo coming
on hour three.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Kenny's probably the guy who will sit there and watch
all the local news stations and then email them about
the things he didn't like. Man, I need to find
more Kenny Karaokes got Lee, Kenny carry Ok. Apparently he's
got an album out.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Might be Kenny Calliendo La come with get a break in.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Man, let's regroup. This is what fridays are all about, right.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
We got more phone calls to get to when we
get back. Plenty more on the Reds Weekend coming up
since E three to sixty thanks to Skyline Chili on
ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Hey Alexa, Who's Gonna Win it All?

Speaker 9 (27:12):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Hey, Weekend Warriors, How welcome back Sincy three sixty ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks to our friends Skyline
Chili Charlie Goldsmith. We'll steer us back in the right
direction at one o'clock. Until then, we've got some phone

(27:36):
calls we can we can get to. We can talk
about what else is going on around the sports world.
It's gonna be a fun day. It's a fun Friday.
That's what Fridays are for. Let's keep up with the fun.
Let's take some more phone calls. Let's see if we
have Mike this time. Mike, what's up?

Speaker 12 (27:50):
What's up?

Speaker 13 (27:51):
There?

Speaker 3 (27:51):
We go, what's up?

Speaker 7 (27:52):
Mike?

Speaker 13 (27:53):
That was twighlight young stuff right there. Okay, so now
we I'm really starting you enjoy the fashion critiques on
your show, fellaws. Uh, guys, I told you yesterday. There's
the Evan Costello and Laurel and Hardy and Fike. Okay,

(28:18):
keep it up. Well, that does put the light touch
on the show, especially on product. That's great.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
Okay.

Speaker 13 (28:25):
NBA playoffs and then the rest. So this Western Division
is going to be something else to watch these playoffs
with the East and I don't know, maybe a little bit.
But the Warriors, now they get that seed, they're gonna
they're gonna get a week to rest and that's gonna
help them immeasurably. With Damon and Stefan and and the

(28:45):
other guy. Uh, Jimmy Butler. Jimmy Butler has helped him
out a lot since he got there. Now a lot
of people questioned that move, but Jimmy Butler both ways
is one hell of a ballplayer.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
We know that you put in a perspective as well. Mike,
out of the West. Right now, the Memphis Grizzlies and
the Timberwolves are both scheduled to be in the play
in they're both forty seven and thirty three. That would
land them as the five seed in the Eastern Conference. Instead,
they are in the play in area of the standings

(29:18):
at forty seven and thirty three.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
That's incredible.

Speaker 13 (29:21):
That's kind of like you've alluded to in baseball, Tony.
That like the Al West that you know the teams
have to play each other and beat up on each other.
That shows how good they must have been had to
have competition with the East. I would think I haven't
checked it, but when they have their few meetings a
year with the East, they the Western teams must have
beat up on them to a degree. Yeah, Lakers are

(29:44):
going to be up the Lakers now with Luca, They're
going to be dangerous as all hell, man, I'm telling you.
And okay, see, I look up. You know I heard
some people last week playing it. Okay, see to have
a problem in the playoffs, because they do have a
bit of a size problem, but it's not really pertinent
because when I look at they lead, they're in almost

(30:04):
first place in every defensive category. And that's shop locking
so and they're not that big.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
Yeah, they get after it defensively. I think people would
be if you haven't followed along as much.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
To NBA.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
Oklahoma City is the one. The Houston Rockets came out
of nowhere this year. They're the two seed at fifty
two and twenty eight. And then you get the dangerous
Lakers with Luca and then Denver, the four seed who
just fired their coach, Michael Malone. It's insane right now
in the NBA.

Speaker 6 (30:33):
It is.

Speaker 13 (30:34):
I just don't think the joker can do it. All
about them stuff their benches ten ten.

Speaker 16 (30:41):
Red.

Speaker 13 (30:44):
I don't know how to compare this Pittsburgh starting staff.
I thought they might be right up there with McNally, Palmer,
Quaar and Dobson the four twenty game winner from the
Orioles in seventy one. Falter not good, no uh ninety
r any another lefty's to lefties, he is he must

(31:05):
not have pitch much because he's got a one point
five zero or twelve strikeouts zero zero zero record. And
then this Ludzinski, you got to check his green card
and uh and I don't know anything about him either,
big right hander. So we should have the advantage pitching
on the starting now, don't you think?

Speaker 4 (31:23):
Yeah, anytime you you you miss Paul Skeins is a
win against the Pittsburgh Pirates and their team era of
four to three eight. The Reds have struggled to consistently
score runs. You should you should be able to put
some good offense together against this staff, especially when you're
playing at home. Uh uh starting off a home stand

(31:43):
when you when again and Francona, he alluded to it.
He said, it's not panic, but there's urgency. This team
understands the urgency with the slower start. I think you
need to see a team play with that urgency, especially
at the plate this weekend.

Speaker 13 (31:59):
Do you think there's any chance that he's gonna move
La up in the order?

Speaker 4 (32:05):
Man, I'm so interested to see that as the weekend comes,
because it's it's been talked about everywhere and the roster
just still isn't back to where it needs to be.
I'm very interested to see when the lineup is out tonight.
If Ellie stays at three, but everything we've heard, I
would I would assume. So he made a statement that
that's where he wants him. Ellie wants to hit third,

(32:25):
so I guess we'll see what happens as the lineup
comes out.

Speaker 13 (32:29):
It just doesn't make sense though, when you look like
you said the other day, when you look around the
league all the best hitters, you're hitting.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
One or two best hitters in baseball.

Speaker 13 (32:37):
Frank Tona knows more than I do, that's for sure. Thanks, guys, have.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
A great weekend. Thank you. One more here Mark is
calling in. What's up?

Speaker 13 (32:45):
Mark?

Speaker 6 (32:47):
He going, thanks for taking my call. I need to
see one positive in the lost. He guess today's game, Okay,
just stood out to me. Jamer didn't blame.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
That's a good time.

Speaker 6 (33:01):
Yeah, that you know. So you you can score five
runs without him.

Speaker 13 (33:05):
I mean that's a good thing.

Speaker 6 (33:06):
That just show you.

Speaker 13 (33:08):
Don't need him.

Speaker 6 (33:09):
So let me get to my next point. Everybody's been
talking about l e moving him to another position where
the batting mat I think all of that depends on
with his skill set. What do you want to take
take advantage of. If you want to take advantage of
his power and more more home runs out of him,

(33:31):
that you got to bat him in the minute of
the lineup, as far as in the field. You know me,
my personal opinion opinion long term. I don't think he's
a shortstop long term because I think going forward he'll
make those exciting planes, but then he'll botch that routine

(33:52):
uh play you know more often than not. In you
need somebody gonna make that routine play all the time.
I you know, I think right field will be a
good spot for him. I mean to take advantage of
his speed and his arm, and then he'll make it
easier on the center fielders. So that's my take on him.
If if, if he, if he could hit for a

(34:15):
higher average, then you back in him second to me,
would make sense. But if he's not gonna hit for
no average, but he can hit for some power, then
you got to keep him in the middle of the lineup.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Yeah, that's fair.

Speaker 6 (34:28):
This is my take on him. That's my take on
that one. So uh but Tony Pike Andhaws now more,
they gonna make sense out of.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
All of it.

Speaker 6 (34:36):
So what do I know?

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Appreciated itself great weekend.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
I I just from from a power standpoint, Austin to
March point, from an Ellie standpoint, do you feel like
it has to be that in today's baseball Because I
feel like again I just see the best hitters in
baseball hit one and two, and I understand the dynamic
of power hitters and being able to drive in runs,

(35:04):
and historically your clean up hitter, the three hole gets
that opportunity. The line up the way it is, there's
just not enough opportunities consistently for the three and four
hole hitter, which is why I would want and be
in favor of more at bats for La de la
Cruz than more possible at bats with runners on. Correct,
That's just that's kind of where I see it is
an on the rest of the team, correct, because if

(35:27):
if Freedom and the two hole are doing their job,
then we're not talking about moving Ellie because he's giving
getting opportunities with guys on in scoring position. He's not
had that, and you've got to find ways to do that.
The the the Jamber side of things, he needed a
day off anyway because of his start. But I think
you could see, especially with the ability of Santiago espin

(35:50):
All to play multiple positions, more opportunities at third for
Espinol while Candelario goes through these struggles. Let's take a break,
let's come back, Let's wrap our number one and we'll
welcome in Charlie Goldsmith to kick off the second hour
of Cincy three sixty on a Friday, thanks to our
friends at Skyline Chili on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 17 (36:09):
Still k Wise Cincinnati, ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
Now, I know we're not gonna get in trouble for
playing little Jeff Henry angel Ridge. I know we can
do that at Sincy three sixty. It's a Friday at
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks for joining us
on this Friday. Leave us a talkback via the iHeartRadio app.
We'll get to those in our number two right after
we talked to Charlie Goldsmith. In just a couple of

(36:47):
minutes for this weekend, Austin, I believe tomorrow is it?
Andrew Abbott isb it? Making his debut tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Not officially announced b okay, yes.

Speaker 4 (36:58):
Right now we know that Brady Singer is going tonight
and Hunter Green is going to go Sunday. Mention that
compared with who Pittsburgh is throwing, this is not just
an opportunity to win a series. This is when you
go in and you say, let's go get all three,
right like you eventually got to have this mentality of Okay,
it's great to win a series, but with who you
got lined up, you're missing out on Paul Skeins. This

(37:20):
is when you got to go and try to take
all three and get back to five hundred. And I
hate that I'm saying that because it feels like that's
what we talk about, is well, if they could just
win all three, they get back to five hundred, then
we go from there. It would set them up in
a much better spot. And I know that's not news
to anybody, but a six game homestand against Pittsburgh in
Seattle right now, who have combined on this young season

(37:43):
for ten wins so far and sixteen losses, this is
when you've got to go do it. If you're the
Cincinnati Reds, this is when you have to take advantage.
And would be a nice weekend for the Bats to
finally show not only the ability because we've seen that
in spurts, but maybe some consistency from this lineup and
get it rolling on a six game homestand where you
should be at least favored in a lot of the

(38:05):
six games. That's that's how you have to attack this
there's no other way around it. You do if you
are looking ahead to to Tuesday, you do get to
see Luis Castillo on the mound for the Seattle Mariners.
He'll be going up against Nickelodoloh. That is what the
weekend series looks like right now for the Cincinnati Reds.

(38:27):
It's a three game set and then it's another off
day on Monday, and then you're at it for a
good stretch of games every night up until the twenty
fourth of April.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
For the Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
We will talk more on the Reds coming up with
Charlie Goldsmith. From a an NFL standpoint, are we are
we at the Hayes and the barn mark of the
NFL offseason Austin, I mean the bank. Well, the Bengals aren't.
They're not gonna nothing from now and then. Is to

(39:00):
surprise anyone. Although I did see earlier today a very
interesting mock draft. This was from Jeff Risden from draft Wire.
He had the Bengals with the seventeenth overall pick, taking
Jalen Walker. He said that Jalen Walker has been playing
b for a lot of picks, and the Bengals tad

(39:22):
the undersize but dynamic pass rusher, a potentially lethal one
two punch with Trey Hendrickson. What I thought was interesting
about this Austin Is. Earlier in the week there was
the mock draft trade where the Bengals moved up in
the draft with the Carolina Panthers at number eight and
took Jalen Walker. So I haven't followed along a ton

(39:45):
because I assumed he'd be gone it'd be I'd be
very interested if Jalen Walker falls to seventeen. I feel
like the Bengals run to the podium. I thought he
was a sure top ten pick in this year's NFL draft,
one of the biggest positions of me for the Cincinnati
Bengals for what it's worth. In this mock draft, he
had the Bengals doubling up in the SEC and going

(40:06):
and getting tray Amos cornerback from Old Miss. But I
don't think there's going to be that surprise this year.
I do think it's either O line or D line
at number seventeen. I know there's some thought at linebacker.
I know there's some thought at safe.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
I think they're going to draft an offensive player in
the first round. Offensive lineman to be specific.

Speaker 4 (40:27):
I think that's it's their second biggest need on the roster.
What's their biggest edge rusher?

Speaker 3 (40:33):
So why wouldn't they draft because you seem to repeatedly
say offensive line in round one? Why would they address
their second biggest need with based on who's available? Better
player with their first biggest need based on who's available? Okay,
because I I watched a I read an article today

(40:56):
and it was kind of asking about the most fascinating
art of this year's draft.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
Biggest uncertainties. You know, we've talked about Jihn Campbell. He's
one of right now the biggest uncertainty because of the
labor recovery. Mikel Williams is another edge rusher had an
ankle injury? Was it Mike Green? Is that who we've
talked about from Marshall has the off the field issues.
There is just what feels like to me, a lot

(41:27):
of talking points and a lot of unknowns.

Speaker 3 (41:33):
I read from a.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
High level scout this week to expect the unexpected in
the first round because there's a lack of consensus grade
on a lot of the first round talent, which means
many teams will be viewed as making reaches in round one.
So the draft itself to me and from what I've read,

(41:55):
doesn't have as many surefire guys throughout the first round.
There's a lot of discrepancy when probably you get to
the middle of the first round on where guys are viewed,
and it does put an emphasis on the scouting departments.
But you know, let's say this. Let's say Austin, if
you're in the Bengals big board right now, and let's
say you viewed a guard at like number twenty from

(42:18):
an overall talent, but there's an edge rusher at like
number twenty three. Would you take the edge rusher or
would you take the best available talent? I would take
the best available defensive player.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
Okay, See, I'm just in a sense, and that's just
where I'm standing right now, and I don't anticipate that
changing between now and the start of the draft.

Speaker 4 (42:36):
Well that's the only reason I say O line is
because there's so many discrepancies that maybe these d linemen
go and you're saying you don't want to end up
reaching or taking a guy much higher that maybe had
a second round grade when there could be a Day
one guard right there ready for you at the first pick.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
I think the guys that are currently in the Bengals
interior offensive lineman group are more suited, especially with a
new coach, to perform in week one, than the guys
that are behind Trey Hendrickson in the defensive line room.

(43:14):
And I don't think Trey is going to be there
at the moment. So because of that and because of
a new defensive system, I just want to beef up
that part of the ball more than anything else.

Speaker 4 (43:26):
Yeah, And I think if all things are considered, I
think if they get there at seventeen and they have
both of their top guys still available.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
I think they would lean defense. I think they would
trade back.

Speaker 4 (43:35):
I just think the uncertainty in round one could make
it interesting if an O lineman maybe.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Think all of that in uncertainty points to them trading back. Yeah. Well,
I still think that's the plan.

Speaker 4 (43:47):
Yeah, with only six picks, you gotta find a way
to maybe add one or two. Charlie Goldsmith is with
us next. He helps kick off our number two on
a Friday since he three to sixty thanks to Skyline
Chili on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 18 (43:59):
Wise, Cincinnati, make us the number one pre set on
your car Radio and on the free new and improved
iHeartRadio ad Free never sounded so good.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
ESPN fifteen thirty when dealing with the issues of eed
you want thirty.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
From Cincinnati, sponsored in part by Cincy Shirts. Cincy Shirts,

Speaker 4 (44:25):

the Charlie Goldsmith shirt on there. They're also going to

and talkbacks best talked back of the Week's going to
get a gift card. Speaking of our guy, Charlie Goldsmith.
He joins us now to talk some Reds and maybe

(44:49):
little Bengals. What's up, Charlie, Tony, how you doing, Charlie?
Has anyone from the Bearcats reached out about any remaining
eligibility you may have? They are looking for guards currently
in the portal.

Speaker 12 (45:00):
You know, here's actually a little known fact. I was
more of a four or even a small ball.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
Five years wow. Really so my brothers.

Speaker 12 (45:09):
Like six two, big guys. Yeah, I grew up learning
how to play the post, and so it was kind
of I was kind of like a fun change of
pace defender. For the best guy ever guarded was David Johnson,
who you know ended up being a star, not I
think he did not quite a star, but had a
really nice career at Ohio State on the football team
they beat us by twenty But I guarded him.

Speaker 4 (45:29):
Man, I can see you like him down. I could
see you like the big, fundamental goosegg you.

Speaker 12 (45:35):
So, I mean his role on that team. It was
with the twenty sixteen stomach team that was a squad
shut out. Sam Martin ended up being at Cincinnati. The
offense ran through him. I swear to god, he might
as well have been Steph Curry with how difficulty was
to stop. So David was more of a dirty war
eye on that team. Obviously an incredible athlete, but they
had two real lights out guards.

Speaker 4 (45:55):
Unbelievable, Charlie, this is just going off the rails right now.
Sam Martin is currently on my even Dale rechtl rec
team squad. Wow, he's our guard.

Speaker 12 (46:04):
And again, if he's not as good now I'm looking bad.
But for our level with where we were at. He
was I really maybe the most respect for any guy
I went up against competitive wise, the way he ran
that offense and the way.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
He played love this. You certainly you talk about respect.

Speaker 4 (46:20):
Let's just transition that to Hunter Green's game right now,
a lot of respect for Hunter Green. But we had
Joe Daniman on the show earlier the week in the
week and he said, when you get Charlie back on,
you've got to pose the question to Charlie which happens first,
Ellie de la Cruz is gonna win an MVP or
Hunter Green is gonna win a cy Young.

Speaker 12 (46:41):
Yeah, I've changed my food on this. At this point
last year, I would have definitely said Ellie, but Hunter
building off of what he did last year and even
more impressive, growing and improving off what he did last year.
Like I mean, you guys know how high I am
on Ellie de la Cruz. But Ellie's adjustments heading into
twenty twenty five subtle, they haven't shown up yet. He'll
be fine, he'll have a great season. But Green's adjustments

(47:04):
and improvements entering twenty twenty five they flappy in the face.
You look at the you just look at the build
of his upper body, how he's slimmer, how that helps
him be you know, not better shape, but better endurance,
and how that shows up late in games. You see
the added confidence in the splitter. When the Reds kind
of came back from spring training, the first thing anyone

(47:24):
said to me was trying to make sure you look
out for how much Hunter's slaughter has improved this season,
and that's obviously on display. I mean, these improvements with
Hunter just flappy in the face. If he stays healthy
and make thirty starts, which isn't a guarantee at all,
I'd have no doubt that Hunter would be a top
five or maybe higher in the cy Young voton.

Speaker 4 (47:43):
If we weren't talking about how good Hunter has been,
we can also talk about how good Brady Singer and
Nick Lodolo have been early on for this team. What
do you see that leads to the most success for
those guys.

Speaker 12 (47:56):
Let me start with this, like Lodolo has become criminally underrated.
Like you know, even as recently as last year, you'd
have people making real argument's real smart baseball people that
they'd rather have Nick Lodola than Hunter Green. Now the
leap the Hunter has made since then, you don't hear
that as much. But whenever Nick Lodola has been healthy,
he's been really really good to borderline great. If you

(48:17):
just look at that sample of starts. What's been so
impressive to me about Nicklodolo was earlier in his career
when the breaking ball wasn't snapping with two strikes, he
kind of get not frustrated, but it just kind of
wouldn't be as sharp of the day for him. It
would be more of a run of the mill start.
His breaking ball is not even on yet. He's doing
what he's doing because of the way he's moving his

(48:40):
sinker around the zone. And then this change up that
has really blossomed and become a ground ball pitch, which
is a brand new element in Nick Lodolo's game, which
gives him a whole nother level of efficiency. And then
things another old fashioned, old school pitcher as well, who's
a good guy to have as you know, your number
four in this REDI rotation, I mean, this is a
play of quality rotation. They've just got to hit.

Speaker 4 (49:03):
When you look at the possible return of Andrew Abbott,
how much can he help? And the next step you
think that maybe he needs to take in his development
to continue being successful.

Speaker 12 (49:15):
The one game the regularly haven't been in was that
Sunday in Milwaukee where just a bad day for Spired
on top of Terry Francona not showing overwhelming confidence pulling Spires.
I believe that was early in the fourth inning. So
if you're a place to with the guy and Andrew Abbott,
who has just been a solid, steady pitcher even though
he hasn't gone on another run yet like you went

(49:36):
on as a rookie, abb It's a guy who if
he can get back to establishing that fastball at the
top of the zone, it'll really click for him. And
kind of something we forget too with Abbot is and
this is a true story. When the Reds named Hunter
Green an All Star, he was a replacement for the
All Star Game last year. They called us in they
told us they were naming another All Star. I remember

(49:58):
having a conversation with in that moment that, oh, is
the Abbot or Green? Because Abbot's stats at that point,
we're actually even take better with Hunter Greens. And you
can make the case that Abbot at that point was
having a better season as a whole and then the
shoulder injury kind of led to him dropping off and
stating away and then going on the IL. But when
auta Telthy, I mean, that's the kind of season he
was having last year. Definitely a guy they really believe in.

Speaker 4 (50:21):
From a health standpoint, between Austin Hayes and Tyler Stevenson
and Matt McClain and others. Where do things stand as
we talk here today from an injury standpoint and hoping
to get this roster back to us as close to
full strength soon as possible.

Speaker 12 (50:37):
Hayes started a rehab assignment last night. I guess the
game got rained out. He probably wouldn't need to play
too much. I'm sure he'd love to be activated by
the time the Bengal the Red Face's former team in
Baltimore next week. That McClain, it will be an important
update that we get today. They've gone out of their
way to talk about slight precautionary not too concerned. But

(50:58):
for McClean, who won, his defining aspects is he's a
very tightly wound athlete and that's where his power comes from.
But it's also led to the hamstring, the oblique soft
tissue conversations that have come up over the course of
his career. Today will be an important update of seeing
how he's respond how he's responding based off that Stevenson.

(51:19):
He got that great MRI, but he barely had a
spring training. He's going to need to ramp up he
pitches to need to play on a rehab assignment. Another
important one too, Spencer Steer looking a lot better at
the plate, but he's still not quite zipping it from
a throwing progression standpoint, so probably still some more time
before we see him in the field.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
Time that you spent at spring training, Charlie. Everyone that
I've talked to has gone out of their way to
talk about how good Austin Hayes looked at spring training.
Do you second that as well? Were you blown away
at the production before the injury For Austin Hayes, He's a.

Speaker 12 (51:55):
Power in the opposite field. Power was something I didn't
quite recognize he had. Maybe I should have because kind
of an under the radar, under the hood stats thing
is Austin Hayes. I believe the number is would have
hit twenty eight home runs in twenty twenty three had
he been playing Great American ballpark. He was probably the
biggest victim of what they called the Waltimore get. It's

(52:16):
kind of a bad pun, not the Green Monster, but
a really far back, really deep left field sense that
was such a big deal that like free agents didn't
want to sign in Baltimore because they knew they wouldn't
be able to hit homers there, And I mean that
took away a whole lot of opportunity for Haes to
hit for power. Baltimore has actually moved the fence back
in because of kind of how how dumb it was
and how much it was negatively impacting kind of everything

(52:39):
going on with their team. So he did truly show
the signs of that power in Baltimore. But even still,
like I mean, when he walks in the room, he's
not a guy you I mean, he kind of looks
like a TJ. Friedel who you know can hit for
some power to or you know, you know, a Jacob
Hurdaby's type. And Herdebe is a great athlete, but he's
not a home run hitter. And then you watch him

(52:59):
make contact and he does some real damage. That's why
Hayes is the guy who even in just spring training,
went from a potential platoon player to the everyday clean
up guy. And again, this Red team needs a spark
and you know, it's a lot of hope right now obviously,
but they're hoping that Hayes brings it to him.

Speaker 3 (53:16):
Through the first two weeks of the season. How do
you assess the performance of Terry Francona as the Reds manager.

Speaker 12 (53:25):
Terry Francona is being Terry Francona, and you're seeing defining
traits that include patients, that include not shaking things up,
that includes lineup consistency, sticking to guys in the spots
that he believes him and having an explanation for why
guys are in those spots. Now, there have been a
lot of decisions that that are definitely a shock to

(53:47):
the system. And you know, a lot of decisions that
I mean, again, maybe you or I would have done differently.
I don't know that that matters. I think the I think.
Another thing you're seeing is how much Terry Francona is
the opposite of Dave Fell from an in game dessistant standpoint,
how heavily. And this isn't bad at all, it's just
different philosophies. David One a lot on analytics two was

(54:09):
willing to make changes more quickly from a big picture standpoint.
And three David and I didn't even realize this until
after he was gone. David actually was one of the
most aggressive. Again that's not good, that's not bad, but
aggressive game decision makers that you'll see like David would
do the equivalent of going for it on fourth down
a lot Terry Francona would punter or take the points

(54:29):
a lot Not good, not bad, just difference. And I
think that the shock in the system there is why
that leads to so much conversation Frank Cone's approached his ideas.
It's the kind of thing that plays out over the
long haul. You see benefits as opposed to one specific instance,
one moment, those two small example size. And there have
been missed opportunities that have been left on the table,

(54:51):
certainly in these games out of Lli hitting second side,
you know, use your bench more aggressively in certain spots
with pin chhinting opportunities. But he's doing what he believes in.
And it's the kind of thing because it's a patient
approach you can only really evaluate over time.

Speaker 3 (55:07):
Do you also think that part of it is he's
continuing to learn about the team and about the players
and what they're good at in certain situations, and that
will give him an idea of things to come over
the course of an entire season. Like he's still learning
this roster. Do you think from a.

Speaker 12 (55:24):
Pitching side, I think no, because Da Derek Johnson is
so heavily involved there from a hitting side. Like it's funny,
you know, he spent on springs training learning this roster,
this roster that had McClain and Stevenson and Hayes on it.
There are flaws in the roster right now, and that
gives limitations to the manager. Now does that mean Blake

(55:45):
dun should be hitting second against right handed pitching? Probably not.
But I think again, it's not like he and that
was one of the big flags in Cleveland actually, like
even when he was there forever like he picked the
wrong guys. He in the front office and they love
a lot of really talented players walk or go who
were like fringe guys who ended up breaking out after

(56:05):
Cleveland kind of gave up on them, Like think Will Benson,
except Will Benson would would have stuck and stayed in
that consistent role. It's too early yet, it's probably not
enough overall track record and talent on the roster to
evaluate which guys he's putting in which spots. But certainly
from an analytical perspective, a lot of these moves have
come up a surprise just from an in game decision

(56:27):
making pincating lineup construction standpoint.

Speaker 3 (56:30):
I've heard some say recently that this disparity between Triple
A in the big leagues is as big as it's
ever been. We saw Will Benson obviously struggle, and that's
not an easy assignment going up against Justin Verlander. But
have you heard that Do you agree with that assessment?

Speaker 12 (56:49):
It's like very very very obvious. It's like one of
those things that everyone just kind of says and agrees upon,
is a fact that that disparity is as big as
it's ever been, Like because of pitching injuries taken away
from the quality of pitching in Triple A in the
minor league that are now you're allowed to have fewer
players on your minor league rosters, so you want to

(57:10):
keep the young guys in the organization. So there's this
like tier of say thirty year olds, like perfect example
is I guess that's not as much because he's a
position player, but like same idea. Nick Senzel's playing in
Mexico right now. Ten years ago, Nick Senzel would have
been in Triple A because there were more spots and
you'd have a thirty year old in that spot in

(57:30):
your organization. That's even more true on the pitching side.
A great example to explain this is like Nick Martini
in twenty twenty four last year, he was lost to
start the season. There had thought he figured some stuff out,
and they sent him down to Triple A and he raped,
but he didn't because that was kind of a mirage
what was going on in Triple A. That's an example
of how you can't really know what to expect from

(57:51):
both met from both Benson and Marte. I'm going forward
for sure.

Speaker 4 (57:56):
Charlie Awesome asked about kind of evaluating Terry Francona through
this early part of the season. If I said the
same thing with Ellie de la Cruz, what would be
your answer. We saw a great start, a little bit
more of struggling lately, a couple of airs in the field.
How do you evaluate what the superstar has been able
to do.

Speaker 12 (58:13):
Ellie's fine, He's gonna be fine. He's had some missed opportunities.
He'd like to see him deliver more and some tight spots.
He'd like to see him maybe take a little more
of an on base and run approach. Maybe it's a
realistic conversation. Is Lle seeing what's going on and trying
to really be the spark for the first time in
his career, kind of embracing being the guy in the lineup,

(58:33):
And maybe that approach is not having a negative impact
that's showing up in the way he's approaching me. That
bets Maybe that's all true. But you know, for not
one second is there any concern about Ellie. He's going
to be fine. It's maybe just seeing more what his
role is on this team based on the construction of
this team right now. But again, Elie de la Cruz
is going to be just fine. Of all the things

(58:54):
to worry about, that's not one.

Speaker 4 (58:56):
As we sit here, just to switch gears for a question,
I know the draft just coming up fast. Have you
settled in on a position that you think the Bengals
are going to tack with that that first round pick,
or are you still kind of up in the air
with a couple of different ones.

Speaker 12 (59:10):
Yeah, I've been working through the process of setting my
board this week. I'm pretty much close to Donk for
the first round perspective. What my big focus is is,
because this defense still hasn't improved, is finding playmaking and
instincts and aggressiveness on the defense in round one so
that we're gonna have linebacker jo Hot Campbell ranked really high.
Even though I never have a live backer ranked is high.

(59:32):
I do think his pass rush value adds some added
opportunities and added reason to make that pick. The reason
I have him ranked over safety Malachi Starts. He's another
versatal piece that could step in right away day one
is your pre safety and then also kind of grow
into that full time post roll over the course of
his career. Defensive tackle Derek Harmon most pressures of any

(59:56):
interior player in the FBF last year, just a sturdy
know what you're going to get pros effect. Looking for
playmakers there is my focus. You can also take advantage
of how deep dishraft is on the defensive line by
addressing your needs at linebacker, safety and guards on day
one and two and expecting a realistic contributor to fall

(01:00:16):
to you on the line later in the draft. The
big question is are they drafting for twenty twenty five
or twenty twenty six. You know, if they're drafting for
twenty twenty six, they definitely need to take an edgrusher earlier.
If it's drafting for twenty twenty five, well they don't
know who their starters at linebacker is safety are going
to be. Of course you need a guard. They are
about five. I see is fix between day two and
day three, So it'll be fine. The Bengals will be fine.

(01:00:39):
They'll stick to their board in round one and then
some depths helps them out on the defensive line in
particular for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Before we let you go, Charlie, our Revivefitnessystems dot Com
poll question today, which do you have more faith in
the Bengals defense or the Reds offense?

Speaker 12 (01:00:59):
The Red dofense has De la Cruz and it should
have Matt McClean sing, and I think that they also
have an identity of base running and athleticism. The Bengals
defense is just still a complete wild card. And yes,
I like Logan Wilson. Trey Hendrickson's great and I guess
he's probably the closest comp to Ellie in this analogy.
Maybe Wilson's more of a Spencer Steer, But aside from that,

(01:01:20):
it's a bunch of guys who had rocky seasons, a
bunch of guys the Bengals look to sign or draft
over and are probably still looking to do so. If
they draft over them, it'll be a lot of rookies.
I do still think that when this Red offense is
fully healthy, you know more what to expect from that group.

Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
Charlie, you're the best man. I know you got a
lot of stuff going on right now. What's the easiest
way for folks to follow along with everything Red's, Bengals
and everything else related.

Speaker 12 (01:01:46):
Today on Charlie's Shockboord, we've got our deep dive into
the Safeties and how the draft class impacts with the
Bengals and Alcoholden impact for the Bengals approach could be there.
And we also just dropped a power Stack podcast yesterday,
me and bragen UIs Law breaking down Hunter Green breaking
down to Briancona's philosophy as well. It's been a really
fun project to get going.

Speaker 4 (01:02:05):
Charlie, You're the best man. Have a have a great weekend.
We'll talk again next week.

Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
Thanks Charlie see you guys.

Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
There he is Charlie Goldsmith covering the Reds, covering the Bengals. Awesome,
awesome stuff as always from Charlie. Now we'll turn to
you with a listener your talkbacks next. Thanks to CINCI
shirts at Cincy three sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
Hey Alexa, Cincy three sixty carries on on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
All Right, bough, let me hear you good loud.

Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
Oh wld ah too ah fru.

Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
Welow, listen to sup to backs, listen to the Clouds.
Get me a bud of subprid Jones. Hope those other
two diver come back.

Speaker 6 (01:03:04):
It's rout.

Speaker 7 (01:03:05):
Were totally.

Speaker 5 (01:03:10):
Hing comes close to the show.

Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
Yeah, we got hag right. Hello, the stars over talk
back show. Let's go. Stars are out, man, the stars
are out. Let's make it happen.

Speaker 19 (01:03:29):
Hello, this is former President Ronald Reagan and well. People
think that this voice is my impersonation of Ronald Reagan,
but they're wrong. No, this is actually my impersonation of
Frank Caliendo doing Ronald reg Well. I gotta go now,
I see that I'm getting another call from John Gruden.

Speaker 5 (01:03:52):
At least I think it's John Gruden.

Speaker 19 (01:03:54):
I'm not really sure.

Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
Nice little lead in for Frank Kelly. I join everybody.

Speaker 20 (01:04:00):
Is there a better impressionist on the planet than Frank Calando?

Speaker 5 (01:04:04):
I think not.

Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
And guys, maybe the Reds can pillage and plunder the
Pirates this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:04:10):
What do you say, go Red Legs like.

Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
That pillage and plunder.

Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
Yeah, yeah, it's Greg.

Speaker 21 (01:04:16):
I was gonna call in today and bitch about the Reds,
but I thought I'm just gonna keep it happy Friday.

Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
Today will be.

Speaker 21 (01:04:24):
The six hundred and sixty six straight days I've listened
to this great show.

Speaker 11 (01:04:30):
Oh.

Speaker 21 (01:04:30):
I appreciate you, guys, and I want to tell you
I enjoy all the shows.

Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Hey, have a good one. We appreciate you. Be careful
with that number of the show though, Thank you, Greg.
But I'm a little worried about that. You guys are
gonna have to change that number on talkbackers who have
been to prison. It's gonna have to be two and
a half because we already know Mike.

Speaker 21 (01:04:51):
But how could we forget when we crowdfunded money to
get George from the.

Speaker 7 (01:04:54):
Valley out of jail.

Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
And he took a dive into the basket Pro fish tank. Wow, man,
I forgot about that George, George and the Fishtek. How
can I forget that?

Speaker 7 (01:05:09):
Tony Austin.

Speaker 22 (01:05:10):
It's Jim on a cold and chilly but optimistic Friday.
I have to stay an optimist with the performance of
the Cincinnati area teams on a hole because educating harder
and harder to be a Homer just down, I'm getting you.
I love the Cadinadi Riggs, and I am not going
to go and root for some other team like the

(01:05:30):
Cleveland with your name of game bag.

Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
Got Cleveland newspapers.

Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
Don't wow, we need that. We should have had Frank
in four talkback. That is the leader in the clubhouse
right there.

Speaker 16 (01:05:46):
Oh my lord, Jim, Hey guys, Jeff and New Richmond.
Happy Friday. So you hope you guys have a great
weekend coming up.

Speaker 15 (01:05:53):
Thank you.

Speaker 16 (01:05:54):
A couple thoughts on the Reds. I think anything less
than a series sweep this weekend is going to be disappointing.
And then as far as Nick Martinez goes, he's been
a huge disappointment so far. I wonder if maybe they
try to move him at the trade deadline.

Speaker 7 (01:06:13):
With like a Noel V.

Speaker 3 (01:06:14):
Marse. What are your thoughts?

Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
I think he's been disappointing the third time through the lineup.
I think the first couple times through he's been great.
He just I don't think he's built to be a
starting pitcher in baseball. I think the idea of him
getting traded is certainly a possibility.

Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
Not easy being a college coach.

Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Thees day's a lot of headaches.

Speaker 23 (01:06:34):
I think tonight Bailey Falter will crumble at the altar
of a big Reds victory.

Speaker 19 (01:06:43):
Wow.

Speaker 23 (01:06:43):
Do you either want to go away or go all
the way in? You don't want to straddle both sides
of the fence. No, it seems like the Bengals do
that with their contract negotiation.

Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
It's a good point. I don't think you ever want
to straddle both sides of the fence. Yeah, and don't.

Speaker 22 (01:07:00):
Forget friends, Let's all go out to the Liberty Bonment
in Funny Township for a deafy time.

Speaker 23 (01:07:07):
And if you're having speech delivery problems, perhaps consider the
Sylvester School of speech therapy.

Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
I'm in my second semester. Thank you is Jim opening
for Frank unbelievable?

Speaker 24 (01:07:23):
They it's Fried I gotta get down on Friday, Pallas
hank Hill, and I'm gonna tell you what excited to
listen to Frank.

Speaker 7 (01:07:33):
And the studio today.

Speaker 24 (01:07:35):
And uh, let's get the sweep over those dang buckoes
and get back to five hundred, and I think we'll
be all right.

Speaker 7 (01:07:43):
Uh is it just me or does it feel like
as a Reds fan.

Speaker 6 (01:07:47):
We're up.

Speaker 7 (01:07:49):
And let's just get back to five hundred.

Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
And then we are again sweeping there at five hundred.

Speaker 5 (01:07:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 25 (01:07:56):
I think the jaw Moran finger guns are more about
the overall bad optics rather than him being a role model.
You know, we got a gun problem and a school
shooting problem here in the United States, and uh, you know,
having a guy blazing guns out there on the courts
probably not the best best thing.

Speaker 11 (01:08:13):
In the world.

Speaker 13 (01:08:14):
Uh.

Speaker 25 (01:08:14):
You know, once the grenade gets banned, I would say,
maybe go to a tactical nuke celebration would be a
little bit better.

Speaker 6 (01:08:20):
Maybe.

Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
Uh So, Yeah, just an idea.

Speaker 26 (01:08:23):
There, I hear you, Hey, guys, Happy Friday's talkback matter Sky.
And because I'm always straightforward with everybody, I did spend
a couple of nights in the Pokey.

Speaker 5 (01:08:37):
To be honest with you. You can look me up,
look me up on YouTube.

Speaker 26 (01:08:44):
But anyway, I stole a couple of hot dogs from
a hot dogs stand down in Cincinnati.

Speaker 5 (01:08:51):
He talks like me for dogs dog stealing and it
was on a Sunday. You're stoled, talkback, Mount.

Speaker 7 (01:08:57):
Of God here, you're resident in this sky?

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
All right? Lord?

Speaker 14 (01:09:01):
You know what I haven't heard the talk back cowboy?

Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
Yeah wow? Now that the Reds are back in action,
is he had? And you might be hiding something?

Speaker 27 (01:09:14):
Happy Friday Fellas kind of sucks. We're not getting a
Green versus Skiings game if possible.

Speaker 5 (01:09:20):
No, I'm good.

Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
That game would probably have a negative score. It would
be a forty minute game.

Speaker 27 (01:09:24):
Rushmore things I'd rather do than watch Jamber Candelario play baseball,
file taxes, listen to talkback matters, guy wow, get a
root canal?

Speaker 3 (01:09:32):
Oh die? Yikes?

Speaker 7 (01:09:36):
Well, well, hey, guys, leaves here Ortskeda dot Com. Check
it out.

Speaker 28 (01:09:42):
You can do a seven round draft simulator with your
favorite team and you can actually pick uh. And it
also has like scenarios. World teams will try to trade
up and trade you picks and you can see where
you go.

Speaker 15 (01:09:56):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
Myself and my kids have been having fun with it, trying.

Speaker 28 (01:09:58):
To figure out who the Bengal are going to draft,
and uh, I thought i'd share that with you and
all the Lessers listeners to.

Speaker 7 (01:10:05):
Go check it out.

Speaker 5 (01:10:06):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
There we go, not yet at the mock draft stage.

Speaker 20 (01:10:09):
But Tony d Stick. Yeah, it's the male man. I'm
not sure what happened from yesterday today, but we have
got cold out here, chain out with my chilly worthless man.
Hope the brand to take care of business this weekend
and on this homestand maybe go four and two, five
and one.

Speaker 5 (01:10:29):
That would be.

Speaker 20 (01:10:29):
Awesome, and uh turn this little ship around.

Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
Let's go, you guys have another best to day ever.

Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
Power of positivity. Let's go Carl Maline at the loan
shooting too too. Hey, man, if Michael Williams is there,
you gotta take them.

Speaker 15 (01:10:46):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
I was in the middle of my you know, road
to glory quarterback you.

Speaker 28 (01:10:50):
See, and Michael Williams had about ten sacks of forced
fumble pick six all in the first half the championship game.

Speaker 5 (01:10:58):
My right tackle is in the middle putting in his unemployment.

Speaker 21 (01:11:02):
Papers and because he just got beat all game, so
we need something like that.

Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
Is your right tackles fault that you threw a pick
six man. No, I had PRESSUREM the only.

Speaker 29 (01:11:13):
One thinking that the Browns might believe that they actually
can go to the super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (01:11:16):
Looking at this.

Speaker 29 (01:11:17):
Flaco contract, three million dollar base salary with incentives up
to fourteen What type of incentives are they building into
that contract. He's not gonna be MVP. They're not going
to make it to the super Bowl. I'll be curious
to see that when it ends up out.

Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
I don't know public last time he was with the Browns,
he turned back the clock.

Speaker 30 (01:11:36):
Hey guys, what's going on in sports today? Now we've
got a college quartern match. Who's holding out for more
nil money in Tennessee. No, we got that rusher for
the Bengals who wants more money because well, he's not
being shown enough respect. I guess I don't know. Guys
my age and older, I look back on it and
I would have just loved to have had the opportunity

(01:11:59):
to play at his levels. I just it's so discouraging
to see, Yeah, you're really going down.

Speaker 4 (01:12:05):
It's just not the way now. If everyone else is
doing it, you want your piece of the pie too.

Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
I also don't think it's the player's fault. No, they're
they're cashing in on the system.

Speaker 31 (01:12:13):
Yeah, Pie Time, Pike and my Buckeye brother Addie. Truly
classing up the studio today. Frank Galliano one of it,
all time great Italian American. So proud of you, Frank.
Truly unbelievable impression. I said, He's kind of like this
Nintendo guy Kirby. Maybe you've heard of him the Bubble Ground.

(01:12:34):
He just sucks him up and puts on the little hat,
pretends to be whoever he wants. I big fan of
Frank ever since all seventeen episodes of Hype, the original.

Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
Hype think he was the president.

Speaker 5 (01:12:47):
Awesome. You don't understand, man.

Speaker 21 (01:12:49):
I took the snap shotgun formation.

Speaker 11 (01:12:52):
I turned to my right. He's already in my face.
Throw the ball away, bounce off his helmet, right in
his hands, stiff farm me back to the ground, touch down.
We lost like forty eight to six.

Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
Yikes. So just another uh, just another uc appearance at
the college football playoffs.

Speaker 5 (01:13:09):
Woh hey, I just.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Want to see the Reds win some gosh dang games.
Thank you.

Speaker 32 (01:13:15):
Come on, go in some friving games. Hit the ball,
steal some basses. I hope the Bengals pick Jihad Campbell
and the guys. Guys, guys Jahad Jihad. Jihad. Jihad is
a very different thing, Yeah, a very different thing.

Speaker 13 (01:13:36):
All right.

Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
It was our last one, all right. I think I
know who our winner is. Yeah, well, we'll get it
when we come back. I have a bunch of them though.
We got something we got to play. We've got an
injury report.

Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
We've got Tom Gallader, Frank Caliendo, Mowagger all still making
appearance on the show today. Since he three to sixty

Speaker 3 (01:13:58):

Speaker 1 (01:14:00):

Speaker 4 (01:14:14):

the talkbacks that we saved. We'll vote on the best
talkback and that that talkbacker will get a Sinci Shorts
gift card.

Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
We have a pretty decent amount of them going all
the way back to Monday. So here's what we got.

Speaker 5 (01:14:38):
This is Scott.

Speaker 32 (01:14:39):
If you guys could stop telling the truth and start
catering to my delicate sensibilities, that would be great.

Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
Thanks, Thank you, Scott.

Speaker 12 (01:14:49):
Scott.

Speaker 33 (01:14:51):
Guys, what a weekend it was in the sports world.
I felt swamped just trying to keep up with it all.
And speaking of swamps, how about the boys of game?
What about the Cougars storming back to fill their spot
in the title game? Shout out to the Grade eight
claiming the scoring title from the Grade one. You could
see the flooding of emotions from him and those around

(01:15:13):
him as he took a dive in that historic moment.

Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
Well done. Still very good, Yes, still very.

Speaker 34 (01:15:19):
Very good, even though we won two nothing last night.
But two nothing victory doesn't mean to be feeling very
scoptimistic about this team yet. Got a start bench cut
Scott cliderfield part Scott optimistic, Scott scottimistic.

Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
Scottimistic is pretty good. I save that one just because
I missed SpongeBob Man. Yeah, it's good to hear him again.

Speaker 16 (01:15:52):
Because I'm happy Tony you told me.

Speaker 15 (01:15:57):
That I had to be so.

Speaker 7 (01:16:05):
Oh County, I'm gonna let you take the I tell
you what on this one? You ready?

Speaker 6 (01:16:10):
Yep?

Speaker 7 (01:16:10):
File is haink Kill here, and boy.

Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
Let me take what the Reds are too.

Speaker 7 (01:16:15):
That sense. Great Scott called in. How about that? Can
we get him on more often? And hold on? I'm
on the phone here found Sports Network. This is Hank Kill.
I'd like to resume my subscription, so you can't just
resume every time the Reds one, and can'ts every time
they lose.

Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
Hot Hopium got time Pikes and my buck eye brother Hobby.

Speaker 31 (01:16:41):
I just wanted to inform you I am signing two
executive orders. One Reds will only be playing games after
nine Eastern Standard time, not only ensuring they'll be undefeated,
but revitalizing the downtown die Bar economy. My second executive
I am naming Hunter Green Secretary of Strikeouts.

Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
Yes, Secretary of strikeouts.

Speaker 20 (01:17:08):
Man Tony Beastic. It's the mail man out here on
a little brisk afternoon, listening to all those warblers just warbling. Hey,
I think the Reds look like they're going to be
about what they are. Good pitching, lackluster offense. I can
sum it up with this little ditty here of roses

(01:17:31):
are red violets are blue. Sometime it don't be like that,
but sometimes.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
It du You guys have another best day ever.

Speaker 35 (01:17:42):
That shout out to all the talkbackers who have spent
time in prison. Steve GARVP Rose, my wife partying, Oh night,
I hate so much at white Castle. My pants are
kind of sight oh, just like Tony and Austin.

Speaker 5 (01:18:00):
My wife's a ball nowhere too.

Speaker 7 (01:18:06):
And Carmeline is that below.

Speaker 3 (01:18:09):
And shooting Jude. Yeah, and that's so gosh so good.

Speaker 12 (01:18:17):
T t fifteen, he's Coach Prime.

Speaker 30 (01:18:22):
I got an idea for the Bengals what they need
to do.

Speaker 19 (01:18:26):
Trade the whole.

Speaker 36 (01:18:27):
Draft come up and get Travis Hunter.

Speaker 12 (01:18:32):
Then he could play for.

Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
The Bengals and the Reds, just like Coach Pride.

Speaker 12 (01:18:39):
And you know what I used to.

Speaker 3 (01:18:40):
Say when I was round a second.

Speaker 19 (01:18:43):
I'm coming. I'm coming.

Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
Good to hear from Coach Pride Prime.

Speaker 22 (01:18:50):
And finally Tony and Austin it's gym on a cold
and chili but optimistic Friday. I have to stay an
optimist with the performance of this Cincinnati area teams on
a hole because the educating harder and harder to be
a homer. You down, I'm getting you. I love the
Tdinadi Riggs, and I am going to go and root

(01:19:11):
for some other team like the Cleveland with your name
of game pipe Honey got Cleveland newspapers.

Speaker 5 (01:19:18):
Don't gosh.

Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
Man, Jim out of nowhere has my vote.

Speaker 4 (01:19:25):
Yeah, I had my top three. I had our good
friend Donald Trump Johnny Cash. But I think Jim takes
the cake today. I do too well.

Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
I mean stealing it on a Friday. Yeah, I thought
for sure it would be Trump or Johnny Cash. I
did too, very impressive stuff for eleven eleven talkbackers in
the finals this week.

Speaker 12 (01:19:47):
I think.

Speaker 3 (01:19:49):
I think that's a record ten if you count, if
you do or don't count SpongeBob. But yeah, he was
in there. He was in there. He was in there.
Him and Pat Starr love it and grats to Jim.

Speaker 5 (01:20:03):
Jim.

Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
Be on the lookout for your email. Yeah, yea yea yeah,
try to get it to you as soon as it can.

Speaker 4 (01:20:08):
We've got we've got time right now for our Postman
Law Injury report delivered by Postman Law. Injured Postman delivers
from the Major League Baseball standpoint. How about the return
or impending return austin of Spencer Stryder.

Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Did you see what he did? You know I did. Actually,
I was listening to that game last night while I
was going for a walk and they were talking about it.

Speaker 4 (01:20:31):
He faced twenty one batters in a rehab assignment. He
struck out thirteen of them, or ninety pitches. Not bad
from Spencer Strider. I don't have any other from a
Major League Baseball standpoint, from a red standpoint, no new
injuries to discuss. It's just the return or hopeful return

(01:20:51):
of players. Austin Hayes, as Charlie Goldsmith said, was supposed
to play last night in TRIPA A Louisville. That game
got rained out, so Charlie mentioned he doesn't need a
ton of time with Triple A Louisville, but be on
the lookout for Austin Hayes. Matt McClain with the hamstring injury.
Timon Stevenson on the oblique. Even the timeline that Charlie
gave kind of surprised me. Yes, he talked about it

(01:21:11):
would be a week from now that Hayes would come back.
I feel like it would be sooner than that, maybe
sometime in the Seattle series. Yeah, Tyler Stevenson still after
the good news you just have to wonder, as much
as he's missed now with the oblique, when he is
fully healthy, how much longer that will take for him
to even be ready to get back with.

Speaker 3 (01:21:30):
The two correct, he's gonna have to go on a
rehab assignment too. Alexis Diaz is on one of those
rehab assignments. Andrew Abbott, I think he's expected to start
tomorrow for the Cincinnati Reds. That's almost like Diaz is
less on a rehab assignment and more on a figure out,
if not, like rehabbing an injury as much as he's
rehabbing his ability to throw strikes. Yeah, it's a good

(01:21:53):
way to put it. By the way, the bat's schedule
coming up, they are This is what I love about
Minor league base You play the same team six games
in a row. Good, good, three. It's like home and homes.
So they just finished up a three game set against
Indianapolis and now they're going to play them for another

(01:22:15):
three games. These are home games. If I'm not mistaken,
let me just make sure this is great. Yes, they're
in Louisville this weekend for four games. Actually, because your
make up the rain out from last night. One tonight
against Indianapolis, two Saturday against Indianapolis and a game on Sunday.

(01:22:36):
Then they are off and hey, if you're in the area,
if you're over in Columbus, the Bats begin a six
game road trip at Columbus and all six games Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
Sunday at Columbus coming up next week.

Speaker 4 (01:22:56):
Very very nice. That is today's postlaw is the new?
Has that always been that way? I feel like I've
never seen team for six?

Speaker 3 (01:23:04):
Did I make that up? Like I admittedly don't follow
Triple A baseball that night, I don't feel like that's
the case. But who knows. You ever been to a
Diamond Dog Night in Columbus. I've not, man, I've not
made it to Diamond Dog Night. I think the Clippers
are now an affiliate to the Guardians, I want to say.
But they do these like I don't know if it's

(01:23:24):
like once a month or twice a month or whatever,
it's like Tuesdays or whatever, but they do dim a
Dog Nights. It's unbelievable. People just walking around with mountains
of hot dogs. Yeah, it's a pretty cool little stadium
out there in Columbus.

Speaker 4 (01:23:40):
That's how it's going to be a Coastal Carolina this
year with the free concessions for their football.

Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
And they say there's no limit on them. That's crazy.
It's gonna be unbelievable. Surely they're going to lose money,
you would think. Did you just call me Shirley?

Speaker 5 (01:23:53):
Maybe?

Speaker 4 (01:23:54):
Anyway, that's today's postma lo All Injured report delivered by
post Malaal. If you're injured, call eight four to four
postman postman Master's update. Do we want to give a
master's update? We could do a master's update?

Speaker 3 (01:24:04):
Alright?

Speaker 5 (01:24:05):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
Do you want me to pull it up?

Speaker 21 (01:24:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:24:08):
What's going on? Masters?

Speaker 5 (01:24:09):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
Stand by? Let me let me pull up the leaderboard.
As we go out to Augusta National. Through seventeen holes,
our leader remains the same. It's Justin Rose at eight under.
But don't look now, but here comes Bryson. Bryson Deshambeau
through twelve. Turning the corner at Amen Corner is seven

(01:24:31):
under PA. He is one stroke shy of Justin Rose.
Now Rose has been nine under three times today, but
giving it back. He is eight under at the moment,
Bryson just one stroke back of him and entering play today.
Bryson was three under, so he's gained four strokes and

(01:24:55):
watching on television right now, Rose is on his approach
to eighteen. Looks to be in prety good shape. After that,
it is Sung Jay m He is in third place
now six under. McCarty, the guy by the name of
Matt McCarty is five under at the moment. Rory McElroy
also five under. Rory's been picking up strokes as he

(01:25:17):
just gets finished up with a man corner. He's heading
to fourteen right now. Corey Conners is five under at
the moment. Ludwig Oberg at four under, as is Shane Lowry,
who's put together a impressive performance. Scottie Scheffler remains at
four unders. He's just underway at Augusta Nashal. We'll forget
about Jay Day three and also here comes my boy

(01:25:39):
Tommy Fleetwood aka Fairwood Jesus Wow, fair Way Jesus they
call him. He's three under through eleven and Jason Day
already as you mentioned, picking up a couple of strokes.
He's three under through two. Ton Now, Tony feenow where
you be? Now? Let he keeps wait down there, He's

(01:26:01):
way down there. Brooks Koepka two over. John Ram two over.
Let'll tell you what, John Ram lost all his power. Yeah,
he gained all that money and lost all his power.
Phil Mickelson has picked up a stroke today now. Now
the projected cut, according to the master's website, is two over.
That would put Tony Fenow where you be now on

(01:26:23):
the outside looking in. He hasn't off yet today though,
so he's got some time as it would. Uh Sergio Garcia,
Adam Scott, Sepstraka, Billy Horsechel, and others.

Speaker 4 (01:26:37):
By the way, for what it's worth, you mentioned Rory
at five under. He is four under through four holes
on the back nine right now, the second nine, the
second nine. They get mad at you at Augusta. They
call it the back of the second nine.

Speaker 3 (01:26:50):
Nick Dunlap, our guy who shot ninety yesterday, Nick Dunlap,
he just birdied the third. Here he comes, here, he comes,
here comes Nicky Dunlap. Don't sleep, NICKI ballgame, Nicky Dunlap.
Jose Maria OLA's Abel. Come on, I just wanted to
say his name. I'm glad you said it because I
did not know how to say that name. Seven. There's

(01:27:10):
a couple that have really tripping me up. You just
go right away from it. Yeah, I do know Matsi
Yama though, isn't it crazy?

Speaker 4 (01:27:17):
At like one point Rom and Dustin Johnson were at
top of the golf world and they both went to
live and you don't ever hear from anymore. Justin Thomas,
Jordan' speeth by the way or plus one. I do
think it's worth noting I wish Justin Thomas was good. Yeah,
I really do like he's one of my favorites and
he just he can't figure it out. For what it's
worth that uh, that punk that wore the upside down

(01:27:40):
hat and pete in the punk creek, he's wearning a
normal hat today.

Speaker 3 (01:27:46):
Good. He actually looks professional today. Maybe he won't pee
in the creek. Would be nice if he pete his
pants on the second nine today and shoots a ninety six,
that'd be ideal. I don't normal route against guys, but
that dude just yeah, he was grinding my gears. Yeah,
I agree.

Speaker 4 (01:28:06):
Anything else that we've missed leading into our third and
final hour today, which is a it's an exciting hour.
Tom Glaider, Frank Caliendo, Mo Wagger all coming up in
the third and final hour.

Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
This is what it's all about.

Speaker 4 (01:28:17):
If we missed anything else in the sports were not mentioned.
We've got a hold in going on at Tennessee with
their quarterback. He wants more money. They don't want to
give it to him, so he's not practicing.

Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
I actually just saw a stat about Nico Eyami lava
or whatever. Sure, let me see if I can make
sure see Is it about the touchdowns he threw last year? Yeah?
He threw nineteen touchdowns last year. Eleven of them came
against Chattanooga, UTEP and Vanderbilt. Oh boy, four of nine
in sec play came from Vandy. How many came against

(01:28:49):
Ohio State?

Speaker 37 (01:28:50):
Not a lot.

Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
I don't think that guy's very good. He was stinky,
pooh pooh. I'll tell you who's good. But I would say,
is this not the point though? You know you're not
gonna make it at the next So get as much
as you can down as you can.

Speaker 4 (01:29:02):
You know why, because if Tennessee doesn't give it to
him and he goes in the portal, someone else, Shirley
will Yes, sure, we'll take a break. Justin Rosen A
little bit of a trouble, A little bit of Trouble
on eighteen as well. His approach was Uhyward Pine Needles
Wayward on the approach shot, Tom Gallader Frank Caliendo back
to back in Our three next on Cincy three to

(01:29:23):
sixty thanks to CINCI show it to ESPN fifteen thirty,
The Superior Game meets Superior.

Speaker 1 (01:29:28):
Found Cincinnati from Cincinnati spontered in part by Penstation East

It's all about good taste. Pennstation East Coast Subs order

Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
Welcome back our three CINTI three to sixty thanks to
Penn Station On ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. You
already know what it is. It's Friday. It's the third hour.
Means mister three hundred is joining us. Tom Gallairder you
can call him three hundred if you want to. Just
got done broadcasting is three hundredth FC Cincinnati match and

(01:30:10):
yet still kind enough to join us each and every Friday.

Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Tommy, how are you? Absolutely it feels like a three
hundred time I've joined you guys on Friday.

Speaker 8 (01:30:19):
But you know, time flies when you're having fun, both
both in regards to doing these shows on Friday afternoons.

Speaker 3 (01:30:24):
And three hundred matches for fh C Cincinnati.

Speaker 8 (01:30:27):
But man, what an honor, very cool and great performance
by the team to get a win. Match number one
that broadcast for the team was a thrilling victory, and
match number three hundred was hopefully three one is as well, very.

Speaker 4 (01:30:40):
Very fitting your you are celebrated by the club, which
is well deserving. Not the best weather night for FC
Cincinnati for you to have your celebration, but as you mentioned,
they do find a way to get the win. We
talked last week about how hard those wins against New
England have been for FC Cincinnati, and here we are
talking after a little bit of a shaky stretch seven

(01:31:04):
points over the last three matches, this club playing much better.

Speaker 5 (01:31:07):
Yeah, absolutely finding the rhythm a little bit.

Speaker 8 (01:31:09):
And I thought it was a very very impressive job
by the guys who were on the pitch and on
Saturday night in the driving rain.

Speaker 5 (01:31:16):
I mean, it's cold, it's wet, they didn't seem to
let the weather bother them at all.

Speaker 8 (01:31:20):
I thought it was a really impressive performance by the
coaching staff and Kevin and I talked about that before
the game, that listen, if FCon SIY find a way
to win with all the bodies who were out and missing,
and the way that Pat had to massage the lineup
to make the pieces fit and keep as many people
on natural positions as possible, that it would be one
of his better coaching victories over the course of his

(01:31:41):
three plus seasons with s C Cincinnati, and he did
just that. Of course, there's a trademark one nail victory
which has been the calling card in many ways for
Pat Noon and I think so started what is it
since started twenty twenty three, now thirty one and eight
in these one one goal games, So uh no, I
thought it was a great team perform It's Pat obviously
felt the same echo that right away when he was

(01:32:02):
with us and all his press, you know, comings and
going since.

Speaker 5 (01:32:06):
So listen to the team.

Speaker 8 (01:32:08):
We've been talking about it, and I think people at times,
I mean fans by nature, get thin on patients. But
this is a team that still has not been together
at full strength and won't be this weekend, but that's coming.

Speaker 3 (01:32:25):
The good news is that all of the injuries have
been minor injuries.

Speaker 8 (01:32:29):
I mean, some of those bodies are back this weekend,
and some of them probably be back next weekend in Chicago.
But soon this team will be at full strength, and
soon they'll have Matt ma Alska back in the starting role.
And when all those pieces come together, this team's already
in good shape. And you go get a result of DC,
you're gonna be a better shape. I mean, shoot, there's
a scenario where if they win this weekend, their first

(01:32:49):
place and everything else falls the right way, they'd be
in first place in the Eastern Conference, you know, after
eight matches.

Speaker 5 (01:32:55):
So listen, uh, I think again, people have to be
a little patient.

Speaker 8 (01:32:59):
There's been some injuries that they've had to work through,
and obviously the schedule congestion.

Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
But this team is in a really good spot. I
would say, you know, turning the calendar now in the
month of.

Speaker 4 (01:33:09):
April, when you when you do mention the the injuries
a little bit more in depth, where are they at
right now from a health standpoint, and you alluded to it.
They're not injuries that you're expected to miss players for
a long amount of time, but it is it is
a little bit tougher because you're talking about. I mean
we talked about with the Reds so many injuries, you're

(01:33:29):
you're they have a new manager. But for FC Cincinnati,
you've got so many new players, players being injured, you're
not able to get that work at full strength.

Speaker 5 (01:33:37):
How close are they Yeah, I think probably about a
week or so away.

Speaker 8 (01:33:42):
You know, we learned yesterday via Pat new and press
conference that's still u yak Kubo not gonna be able
to go. A teenage Davie who is back from Zimbabwe
got his green card. I'll sort it out, but he is,
you know, not yet able to go and may miss
a couple of weeks. So he's probably the longest term
of all of them. Miles Robinson has trained all week,
so it seems that he will be in the mix

(01:34:04):
for selection. That Sergio Santos, who left the match with
a repairent injury, has recovered well, so he should be
in the mix for selection. I think the big question
is will being a Wobedo, and coach implied that he
would kind of be a game day decision probably, so
we may not no more until a couple hours before
the match as to where Obi fits into the mix
for this DC game.

Speaker 5 (01:34:24):
But no, I think I think you're very close. Like
where does a Vander come into the mix? Right?

Speaker 8 (01:34:30):
I think he may also be a game day decision tomorrow,
So we have to see a little bit as to
how guys you know, feel coming out of training today
and where coach settles on a starting eleven.

Speaker 5 (01:34:40):
But I think the team is very close. And Matt
Maaska obviously was on the bench. Let's not forget Matt.

Speaker 8 (01:34:45):
You're gonna add in twenty twenty three defender of the
Year here momentarily you know whether that is is he's
we see some minutes from him or start tomorrow in DC,
or does that come next week in Chicago. Either way,
we're gonna see Matt soon as well, and that's gonna
be another big piece, other cog on the back line.
So no, I think I think we're close, and I
think by the end of the month, hopefully you know,

(01:35:06):
Pat's able to train with his full team and then
has to make some decisions about what is best eleven
looks like.

Speaker 5 (01:35:10):
And that's a good thing. But we saw the depths
last week getting.

Speaker 8 (01:35:14):
The win with so many bodies, I mean, arguably he
could say there was five starters out and still able
to get the win in tough weather conditions and a
clean sheet.

Speaker 5 (01:35:23):
Let's not forget about that. So I think the team
is close.

Speaker 8 (01:35:26):
I think we're seeing some of the depth and I think,
you know, Pat's have to make some decisions once everybody's back,
and that's a good thing.

Speaker 5 (01:35:32):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:35:33):
We we mentioned Roman Celentano after the Nashville game because
of multiple amazing saves. It was a little different against
New England fifteen shot attempts, only one on goal. But
to back up a performance like that against Nashville and
then have the clean sheet against New England, I think
sometimes when we talk about we talked to me Osga,
we talked about the defense and the new bodies, we
don't mention how important and how good Roman Celentano has been.

Speaker 8 (01:35:57):
No, and I think he's growing a little bit of
a tough start to the year in some ways, and
obviously that Philadelphia game was very tough, you know, But
I think and Kevin and I talked about this coming
out of the National Game, because National Game was was
one of the best that he's had in now his
fourth year as a professional in Major league soccer, you know,
and he got a couple of favors in the first half.

(01:36:17):
Let's not forget a couple of kisses off the woodwork
in the first half kept that match scoreless last week
in the home game, So no, I think, but you know,
there's so much more than safes that are involved in
getting a clean seat, and he's managing the box well,
there's clearances, setting up his wall, setting up his defense.

Speaker 5 (01:36:36):
On on free kicks and corner kicks. So I think
there's a.

Speaker 8 (01:36:40):
Lot of management that he's doing very well. I think
his distribution is growing, and then there's room still to
grow in that regards. But no, I think, you know,
Roman wants to be a top goalkeeper in the league,
and I think he has the skill set to be that,
and he knows he has to keep growing to to
get that Moniker, but but it can be there. And

(01:37:01):
if he continues to grow and continues to have the
clean sheets and the performances that we're seeing, then certainly
he will be in that conversation.

Speaker 5 (01:37:07):
So I'm excited about the play of Roman.

Speaker 8 (01:37:10):
I mean, as great as he is on the field,
he's an even better guy off hit, which obviously makes
him a great ambassador for the club here in the community.

Speaker 5 (01:37:19):
And you know, rightfully so is a fan favorite. So
I'm excited to see how he continues.

Speaker 8 (01:37:25):
To grow and look, like I said, with Matty Asser
coming back, the defense in front of him is just
going to get stronger and stronger.

Speaker 4 (01:37:32):
Six of the next eight are on the road for
FC Cincinnati, and that part is not ideal. But we
talked early in the season about just how hectic the
schedule was for FC Cincinnati. Are we at least now
getting into that portion of the schedule where you can
get a little bit more rhythm where you can get
a little bit more time in between the games, and
with that, you would expect more of this team coming

(01:37:53):
together in the sense that we were looking for early.

Speaker 5 (01:37:56):
Absolutely.

Speaker 8 (01:37:56):
I mean, Tony's what we talked about a few weeks ago,
right with being able to have real meaningful training sessions
and not just preparation for your next opponent.

Speaker 5 (01:38:05):
And for the first four weeks of season, that's what
it was.

Speaker 8 (01:38:08):
It was recovered, prepare for the next opponent, play the
next match, recover, Benson repeat. Right now they're having those Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday sessions where it's not all focusing on DC United,
or it's not all focusing on Nashville or focusing on
Chicago or whomever's next on the schedule. Surely there is
some of that, but it's also focusing on the group.
What like we started the conversation, you want to have

(01:38:30):
all your bodies so you can focus.

Speaker 5 (01:38:32):
On the group. So I think that's the only piece
missing from that.

Speaker 8 (01:38:35):
But they don't play a midweek match again until the
middle of May, so you have a couple more weeks
of this before it will get congested again, you know,
through the last two weeks of May.

Speaker 5 (01:38:45):
But yeah, I think this is where the team has
to dig deep.

Speaker 8 (01:38:47):
They were so good on the road last year, and look,
you get the confidence boost of going to Nashville and
winning that match, and now you're on the road for
six of eight. You only have two home games where
you're gonna get sporty kensas city men who already made
a coaching change. So you hope that, you know, you
can get a positive result obviously out of that one
in a couple of weeks. But the team, if they

(01:39:10):
can do well and find their road form of last
year over this six of eight on the road stretch
here going, that will lead us up to June. They're
gonna be in a really good place going into the
days of summer. Now, all of a sudden, if you've
played six of eight on the road and you come
out of that in a good place on the table,
what does that mean, Well, majority of your game's the

(01:39:30):
rest of the way are gonna be at home, right,
because that has to balance out somewhere. It's not as
though they played what were this is match day eight,
So it's not as that they played like five or
six or seven at home to start the season, right,
So they're gonna have a lot of home games after
the month of June, because the whole month of June
is on the road. You don't play a single home
game in June. So once you turn the calendar to July,

(01:39:52):
in the back half of the season, now you're gonna
see Tqladium a lot. And if you're in a good
place in the table where even you're sitting second, third, fourth,
kind of in that range there and within striking range
of Whoeme whoever is in first, I think you're in
a great spot.

Speaker 5 (01:40:06):
But yeah, the team's gonna have to find results on
the road. It's never easy.

Speaker 8 (01:40:10):
But looking for that form of last year, and you know,
great opportunities. I think you have a d C United
team who down the a Chicago team who they're doing
all right, you know, finding their way under Greg Burhalter
a little bit, but certainly winnable games here in April
for the club.

Speaker 4 (01:40:24):
You you make the trip for a match tomorrow to
d C. It's an audi not AUTI au d Field
in DC a different Yes, this is a DC United
team that through seven matches only has six points. So
this is a great opportunity to put together three straight
three point efforts.

Speaker 3 (01:40:41):
How do they go about doing that?

Speaker 5 (01:40:44):
Yeah, I mean, I think we've talked about it a lot,
but a quick start.

Speaker 8 (01:40:47):
Is going to be important, and we haven't seen that
a whole lot from this club so far this year.
But this DC United team, losers of three straight, have
conceded a lot of goals over that stretch, including six
last time out on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (01:40:59):
So they give up twelve goals in those three losses.

Speaker 8 (01:41:02):
Since Hanty have got to find a way to finish
their opportunities they're creating him. They got to find a
way to finish their opportunities to put the ball on
the back of the net. They've struggled to find some
results at Audifield over the years, so I think that
that's really the key to attacking him. And then and
then listen, Christian Benteke, I mean, world class talent who

(01:41:22):
they brought in.

Speaker 5 (01:41:23):
He scored a bunch of goals in the short time
he's been in Major League.

Speaker 8 (01:41:25):
Scary already has five this year seven matches into the season,
so he's been fantastic.

Speaker 5 (01:41:31):
So they've they've got to find a way to bottle
up Christian bent Teke.

Speaker 8 (01:41:33):
If you if you can limit his chances on the ball,
and his chances often come through the air.

Speaker 5 (01:41:39):
I mean, he's such an aerial attack.

Speaker 8 (01:41:41):
I believe last year he led the league in area goals,
and I mean that's been his trademark throughout his career.
You've got to find a way to limit him. But
you've got to find a way to jump all over
these guys. You can't give them that confidence or he
can't be in a nil nil game where that if
pin Tech gets one and it's one nil, then DC
can just clamp down defensively and say, you know, we're
not gonna let you beat us, and we're gonna steal

(01:42:02):
these three points. So I think if you could get
some goals that open up the game. Obviously, then DC
has to chase and you can kind of take control
of the match.

Speaker 4 (01:42:11):
A great opportunity to UH to advance. They are just
two points now, shy of the Columbus crew in the standings.
Inner Miami obviously up there, but with how the season started,
you got to feel great about where things stand right
now as we get into mid April for f C Cincinnati.

Speaker 8 (01:42:26):
No, I agree, and I think that's where I through
some of the tough results in the first couple of
weeks of the league schedule. You know, Kevin and I
kind of kind of pushed the message of like the
sky is not following people, and sometimes it feels that way,
and obviously when you go to Philadelphia and you lose
the way you do in the first week, but you
got to remember what this team has been through and

(01:42:48):
that that preseason was disjointed in some ways. And look,
I get that that at some point you're not making excuses,
and Pat Newon's not making any excuses, but but I'm
also going to explain the situation right how this team
was built and and of how some of the guys
who got in late and then there's been some of
these injuries that's limited the group being together. These are
all facts now those facts certainly, you know, if in

(01:43:13):
July there struggling, there's nothing to do with anything, right,
they shouldn't be and I don't expect that they will be.

Speaker 5 (01:43:19):
But to be in the position they are, and and
to be where they are.

Speaker 8 (01:43:22):
Considering their Champions Cup run and and the scheduled congestion
and how they've come together and some of the bodies
that have been missing, they've done really well. And and
last week missing five starters, found a way to get
that win at home and and grind it out, and
sometimes that's what you have to do.

Speaker 5 (01:43:37):
You know, was it the the best win you know.

Speaker 8 (01:43:43):
From a performance standpoint, and and beating a great opponent
last week, No, but they found a way to defeat
New England and and get a win and missing guys
and playing guys. I mean, Lucas Engel was one of
the best players in the pitch last week and he
wasn't even playing his primary position.

Speaker 5 (01:43:58):
So I think the clubs has done a lot of
good things.

Speaker 8 (01:44:01):
I think there's a lot of positive signs and performances,
and I'm excited to continue continue to see this team
grow tomorrow in TC and then moving forward and see
how they can string together some road performances now coming
off the result a couple of weeks ago in Nashville,
and build off that confidence.

Speaker 4 (01:44:17):
Tom Gallader, mister three hundred, Tommy, you are the absolute
best man. Thank you for joining us.

Speaker 21 (01:44:22):
All.

Speaker 3 (01:44:23):
I look forward to another talk after three points next week.

Speaker 19 (01:44:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:44:28):
Absolutely, I I'm gonna go to my closet and dust
off my Joe Flecko Jersey and big news, big news
this morning, and uh yeah, I'll be ready.

Speaker 5 (01:44:36):
I'll be ready.

Speaker 7 (01:44:37):
Man.

Speaker 8 (01:44:37):
We got we got the draft coming up, a lot
of a lot of exciting things to talk about, and
I think we should do it again next week.

Speaker 3 (01:44:44):
Let's do it. Tommy, you're the best man.

Speaker 5 (01:44:45):

Speaker 38 (01:45:33):

Speaker 5 (01:45:41):
Uh yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:45:43):
So uh yeah, what did you said? You say, I'm
being the funny Moones?

Speaker 6 (01:45:45):
I was just like I was.

Speaker 3 (01:45:46):
I was just scared you were going to throw a
ball at me. That's what you want to look at
this guy.

Speaker 38 (01:45:50):
He's only got about two throws in him, and then
he keeps coming down the pike. Man, that's a that's
a that's a line we hear all the time around here.
Wearing a golf hat.

Speaker 3 (01:45:59):
Is that what you're doing?

Speaker 38 (01:45:59):
You're a golf at right now? That what you're talking
about it Augusta. You ever been to Augusta? Man, tell
you what you want. The green jacket. That's the only
thing that I like, even close to football. I I
talked about it that I never know what I've talked
to people about. But Gruden's favorite. My favorite thing about
Gruden is when he gets somebody in the room, he
goes a bit, you don't love football.

Speaker 3 (01:46:19):
Oh what do you say to that? Yeah, what do
you know?

Speaker 15 (01:46:22):
I do?

Speaker 7 (01:46:22):
I don't think you do?

Speaker 3 (01:46:23):
Man, You know the answer is no, Like nobody loves it.
Nobody he really.

Speaker 38 (01:46:28):
I've been to the the FFCA, the Fire Football Coaches Association.

Speaker 3 (01:46:33):
I've been to what that is now.

Speaker 38 (01:46:34):
It's actually moved around a couple of times, but it's
the same look of it. Hit the place he has,
I don't know if it's a condo or if they
rented or what.

Speaker 3 (01:46:43):
In Tampa. You go there and it's a museum of
all this stuff.

Speaker 38 (01:46:46):
He's got videotapes, He's got vhs videotapes that haven't been
changed over to digital at this point.

Speaker 5 (01:46:53):
This thing.

Speaker 3 (01:46:53):
They don't. It's too much for a server.

Speaker 38 (01:46:55):
I think that go back to his dad coaching at
Notre Dame and film it Oder Dame and stuff. It's unbelievable.
Here's me playing at the University of Dayton right here. Man,
it's pretty good. I grew up in San Duskyo High
you ever been to? You ever been to or you
just stay at King's Island?

Speaker 3 (01:47:11):
What do you think of his transformation from a football
coach to a content creator?

Speaker 19 (01:47:16):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (01:47:16):
I think it's a middle. I think he probably will
get back to football coach. I think he loves it.
Is he a content creator? Is he just a box opener?

Speaker 6 (01:47:23):
Now?

Speaker 3 (01:47:23):
I think ye. I'll tell you what, man, you know Bidenox?

Speaker 13 (01:47:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:47:28):
Right, man.

Speaker 3 (01:47:29):
The whole equipment room over there is it is something.
Now what's in this box? It's an equipment manager.

Speaker 6 (01:47:36):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
Look, he's gonna present stuff like Van of White turning
a letter on Wheel of Force. You ever watch Wheel
of Fortune open the boxes correctly?

Speaker 11 (01:47:44):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:47:44):
Man, he just starts ripping. He is like everything. I
love these guys. There's not I've never loved anybody more
than these guys.

Speaker 13 (01:47:52):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:47:53):
You know what I you know, I love the letter C.

Speaker 13 (01:47:55):
You know what?

Speaker 3 (01:47:56):
You know why?

Speaker 38 (01:47:57):
Because it's what a kind of grades they used to get.
Man sees just enough to so I could spend some
time on football. That's a level stuff right there.

Speaker 19 (01:48:06):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:48:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:48:07):
The he's what you get with him is he's he
is that guy all the time.

Speaker 38 (01:48:12):
People don't know he's he's I don't know what word
I can say, but he's a buster, you know, And
I said ball bust. See, I mean he's the rooster.
When he walks into the room, it's like cock a
doodle doo.

Speaker 15 (01:48:24):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:48:25):
He's like, he looked at me, he goes, how about
that chess here? Where you get that? What are you doing?
Get that chess here? You drinking heavily?

Speaker 6 (01:48:30):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:48:30):
What are you doing? You eat the crust on your uncrustables?
Is that what's happening? So he's clearly embraced it. Who
is I think?

Speaker 38 (01:48:37):
I think he's just looking for it. He loves football,
he loves to teach football. He's working with high school kids.
When people thought, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah, we've
been friends ever since I went to quarterback camp. Well,
the first the way it started was, uh, I did
an impression. I went to ESPN from Fox. I got
let go fired at Fox, and UH didn't know what
I wanted to do. ESPN said, can you do people
from over here? I'm like, I don't know if there's

(01:48:58):
anybody you do, which I did know that, But then
I started studying the more I'm like, okay, I've got something.
So I started doing, Gruden was one of them. I
knew it would work if I got it good enough.
And I did it on TV. And then I met
him at the Super Bowl and all the suits, all
the executives and stuff are standing around waiting to see
how this is going to go. He's holding a cup
of coffee. This is in New Orleans at the ESPN

(01:49:21):
tent backstage, and he's like looking at me. He's like,
so you're the guy who does me.

Speaker 7 (01:49:25):
Huh.

Speaker 3 (01:49:25):
I'm like, how'd you figure that one out? Einstein?

Speaker 38 (01:49:27):
He'saying, where are you from? And I looked up where
he was from? I was like San Dusky, Ohio. He's
like really, I'm like no. He's like good because you
were blowing my mind.

Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
Man.

Speaker 38 (01:49:35):
And then I went to do quarterback camp one time
and Derek Carr was there. It was Derek Carr's birthday.
We're singing Happy Birthday to him. Some of that stuff
never get on, but that's how I became friends with
Derek Carr too. And so it's really just he gets
it because it's and that's why he had me come
talk to the Raiders a couple of times. I've got
this this is crazy thing. This is the guy thing.

(01:49:56):
I'll make you mad, but make alignment even angrier. Guys
have played in the league for eight, ten years or something,
never gotten a game ball. I've given two pregame speeches.
They won both games. I have two NFL game balls
Like it's it's I talk about things you don't deserve,
and I am one hundred. You're getting a game ball, man,
it's spray painted raiders. It's unbelievable for getting you a

(01:50:20):
game ball.

Speaker 21 (01:50:20):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:50:21):
We're sending it what they send it to me in
a box. I should have I was the originally one boxer.

Speaker 15 (01:50:25):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:50:26):
You know what you should do is put it back
in a box and then make a video on boxed.
I think I'm gonna.

Speaker 38 (01:50:30):
I was just thinking, as we were thinking the same
thing as it was going, I was like, oh, this
is a good this might be the bit Frank Caliendo,
Let's see, what's his name, Frank Kalamari? Is he was
he breaded squid?

Speaker 3 (01:50:41):
Is that what this guy is?

Speaker 19 (01:50:42):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
Has there ever been anybody that really gets like mad
at you for doing it in the sports room?

Speaker 38 (01:50:48):
Yes, of course A great take Callando not a fan,
incredible phenomenal Ah Rugulah In fact, I had guys friends
that guest host for uh Jim Rome years ago in
in in Arizona.

Speaker 3 (01:51:05):
The guest host he's not on here?

Speaker 12 (01:51:07):
Is he no?

Speaker 5 (01:51:07):
No good?

Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
Uh, he's not on here. I actually loved him, but.

Speaker 6 (01:51:13):
Is that what that is?

Speaker 5 (01:51:14):
Right?

Speaker 38 (01:51:14):
So I had friends who guest hosted for him uh
in from Arizona. They brought me on. They had guest
hosted him many times. They brought me on one time.
They were never on again.

Speaker 3 (01:51:29):
Rack them. These guys are out incredible.

Speaker 38 (01:51:32):
What a bad idea to bring Frank Collendo into the
jungle and ruined the essence not going on.

Speaker 3 (01:51:39):
But people usually like Chris Burma is.

Speaker 19 (01:51:40):
Like, what are you gonna do?

Speaker 3 (01:51:42):
You eat eat make baby? May be a big big
big big big big big mag to the drawing board
ration videos.

Speaker 21 (01:51:48):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:51:48):
People get a little weird about it till you do
it and then they're they're like, they see it's in fun.
Stephen A.

Speaker 38 (01:51:52):
Smith, when I first met him, he is like, mister Calliendo,
with all the impressions and impersonations, you do do me.

Speaker 3 (01:51:56):
A faith, don't ever ever do me not gonna run
for president. I was wondered about that because I went
back and I remembered Stephen B. Smith.

Speaker 38 (01:52:06):
Is that and you were on the air with him
one of the Yeah, that was with Mike and Mike
back in the day when they were ruining the airways.

Speaker 11 (01:52:13):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:52:13):
That was Stephen A. Smith and Stephen B.

Speaker 38 (01:52:16):
Smith And uh, I was congratulatory, like everything was just
me with a thesaurus, just looking up words like that
guy's grasp of the language like unbelievably.

Speaker 3 (01:52:26):
And I was asking Stephen, I think he was another one.

Speaker 38 (01:52:29):
He was like Bill Walton where he had a stutter
as a kid and he's he just read a lot,
and he was a reader and he read and people
who read having a huge vocabulary. As you can tell,
Mine is I was gonna say minis school, but that
would be the opposite of what it actually when I
was trying to prove the point.

Speaker 3 (01:52:44):
Of it was small.

Speaker 5 (01:52:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:52:47):
Now you got tariffs coming in, tremendous tariffs. They're gonna
we're gonna tariff everything. We're gonna tear iff the tariffs.
There's a new tariff in town. And it's that's what
we call Baydon Manning. He was he was the sheriff
and now we're.

Speaker 38 (01:53:02):
Going to call him the ter by the way, claims
he's the guy who coined the sheriff for So I
came up with that one, man, J. J.

Speaker 3 (01:53:11):
Swatt, it's mine.

Speaker 37 (01:53:13):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:53:15):
What would a debate sound like between Trump and Steven A. Smith? Well,
I think it would be contiguous to the situation. I understand.

Speaker 36 (01:53:23):
I'm not even sure some of the things he's saying.
He's saying very he's he's got a lot of big words,
big words in fact that humongified. See, I'm not even
sure if that's real.

Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
I'm not sure. But we're trying to get things, but
we're not trying to get in trouble politically. That's just me.
He bailing. I'm fascinated when you go to two cities,
where are you from originally? That you have that accent? Really, man,
his voice is all messed up. Yeah, something nasal language

(01:53:55):
on the show. I've got a bullet.

Speaker 6 (01:53:57):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:53:57):
I didn't, didn't. You didn't even have to warn me
about that one. I've talked to speech path speech languish
pathologists about the way he talks, and they say a
lot of it is just laziness, Like he can't say,
he can't say n C A a tournament like even
your a's but you have a there's a lot of

(01:54:19):
interesting Like I look when I see people study, Yeah,
I start to see things I can understand, just because
even the way your teeth match up. Uh, there's a
there's a thing.

Speaker 38 (01:54:30):
There's definitely a lot, and you just have a little
more of a southern drawl than people around here. I've
noticed that. So that's interesting to me. I don't know
what they've heard. They can hear a little Peyton manning, Yeah,
I could hear that. There was somebody else I just
heard in there too. I'll have to think about it
because it's going to take me too long to come
up with it. But there's Peate Man's got a little

(01:54:51):
bit of deeper voice. But the only thing I can
say is Peyton is weird.

Speaker 7 (01:54:55):
Weird.

Speaker 3 (01:54:56):
That's a that's kind of weird. He's got four syllables
and weird. But there's somebody somebody else. I don't know
who it is. I'm gonna have to think about it,
but that it just it just hit me when you go, uh,
so you're doing you're doing a show tonight? You two shows?
You is there a little bit difference in the show,
a little bit, but.

Speaker 38 (01:55:15):
I I mean, I'm yeah, but I'm working on new stuff,
so it's always there's lots of different stuff each show. Uh,
but I'll forget what what I've done already. So that's
the tougher part of it, uh for me. Uh, I did,
and I didn't even.

Speaker 3 (01:55:29):
I don't even.

Speaker 38 (01:55:30):
I started doing a bit two times last night and
I caught myself and I just morgan framed it.

Speaker 3 (01:55:34):
That's when he realized he'd already and said this joke.
I'll tell you what, man, if you practice properly, that's
not gonna happen. It's all about preparation, man.

Speaker 38 (01:55:44):
So yeah, so it's uh, there's little differences, but uh,
I mean every show is gonna be different right now
because I'm really trying to work on some of these
other bits.

Speaker 3 (01:55:53):
On stage tonight and still trying to figure out what
the hell's wrong with my voice. Yeah, I probably will.

Speaker 38 (01:55:57):
Oh man, it just hit me again, like I I like,
I see something and flash in front of me, and
it may not even be a famous person. It might
be somebody I know. That's but also know a lot
of famous people. You guys want to text, let's talk,
I'll call JJ. JJ was about to be a Bengal
for a while. Did you see that story His goalkeeper

(01:56:18):
at that soccer team he owns, Oh, really, his goalkeeper
there is a Bengals fan.

Speaker 3 (01:56:22):
Okay. He says, Hey, come out of retirement and play
for the Bengals. JJ says, if you don't give up
a goal for the rest of the season, I will, oh, okay,
And then it went like eighteen games in a row,
the guy didn't give up a goal, right, And it
got down to, like, I don't know ten games started.

Speaker 5 (01:56:35):
J went on.

Speaker 3 (01:56:36):
He went on like Dan Patrick, and he's like, I
will actually do it, like I will come out of retire.
Keep this guy's word.

Speaker 38 (01:56:41):
That's funny. Yeah, I mean I was trying to think
it was it with JJ. Now I was thinking I
was conflating two different things. It was I almost like
ruined the I should say some like Yahoo or somebody
took the news.

Speaker 20 (01:56:56):
I was.

Speaker 38 (01:56:56):
I'm friends with Steve Khim, who is the GM of
the Cardinals the Arizon a Hartles at the time, and
I was sending him like voice messages from Gruden, pretending
but it was from my number, so he knew it
was me. I totally talk about that on Dan Patrick,
and then I think it was Yahoo News, like I said,
took and said, I almost ruined the draft picks like
nothing new. It was me from the beginning, but I didn't.

(01:57:18):
I did the thing I always would try to put
the kebash on it and stop it. And I was like,
you know, I'm gonna let it go this time and
see what happens. And sure enough it blew up and
it was on news stations and all sorts of stuff
like well, that's why I realized, never try and stop
it if you don't care, like if you wanted to
have it to just blow up into something and it's nothing,
it's zero, none of it based in fact, and just
let it go.

Speaker 3 (01:57:38):
Are you just getting at your shows? Just random people
yelling out?

Speaker 5 (01:57:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:57:41):
At the end, I let people do it.

Speaker 5 (01:57:42):
I like people.

Speaker 3 (01:57:43):
If I haven't gotten stuff yet, I say, he oh,
here's time.

Speaker 5 (01:57:45):
I know.

Speaker 38 (01:57:45):
I wandered around as Joe Biden for too long and
made a bunch of people mad as Trump or whatever
and so, and I walk at the line politically, right
down the middle of the road.

Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
So I make fun of everybody.

Speaker 38 (01:57:57):
But I do a lot of stuff that doesn't get
me to some of the impressions they come to see,
so I know they come to see them.

Speaker 3 (01:58:03):
So the last ten minutes is usually just me letting
people call things out. But you, I don't think i've
heard your Biden.

Speaker 37 (01:58:09):
Not a young man growing up in scribed Pennsylvania three
four or five six six hundred d you follow the
Roman Empire and Romans Marian Luigi folks ch'man there are plumbers.

Speaker 3 (01:58:22):
That's incredible. That is, do you have a favorite? Your
absolute face?

Speaker 38 (01:58:26):
Whenever they're new, Although if I could, I just pretend
to be ropertenty junior the whole time so I could
burp through sentences. It's just the way to go about it. Yeah,
when they're new, they're fun. When they're not just new,
but when they're new and I can do something with
them because there's a difference. It's it's almost like being
fluent in a language. Can you say a couple of

(01:58:47):
words or can you talk like the person in a
different situations, So once you can once I can like
almost foe think like the person. That's when they're they're
really fun. So I don't know if I have a
favorite right now, it's it's yeah, it's just it's it
changes whatever people like, I just kind of.

Speaker 3 (01:59:09):
Go with more of what people are getting. Do you
want to run it back to two thousand and ten
in the NFL draft, we did print out Tony's so
excited about Tony's draft profile.

Speaker 38 (01:59:22):
Job looking at a four point nine second forty yard dash,
a little bit better than Baker Mayfield and guys at
that level. But I think that's not a guy who's
going to be eluding the defense at any time, because
guys to you, guys rushing the pass.

Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
They're going to be somewhere at it. I don't know,
four five four four.

Speaker 38 (01:59:38):
Now they could actually run through your ten yards split
one point six to nine. Great for alignment, but this
guy's playing quarterback. And then you take a look at
the vertical leap to a twenty eight point five inches,
tremendous job. Could actually get one of those boxes John
Gruden's opening up underneath them.

Speaker 3 (01:59:52):
Broad jump nine foot.

Speaker 38 (01:59:53):
Zero, Not even sure if that's good when you're six
foot six stan and towering over the defenders. I'm not
sure if you ever ge to use a broad jump
as as a quarterback. And let's say take a look
at the over you what happened to Pike Pike's a
bit of a product in the system that's been in
place with the Cincinnati Bear cast. He gets out of complete,
he gets a lot of completions due to their dinking

(02:00:13):
duck passing attack, then spreads the field and out and
relies primarily on the passing game to move the ball.
He knows how to recoverages, but will get stuck in
his primary receiver at times, locking in on guys he's
not supposed to lock in on the next level. He
can't do that at times rather than go to a
second or third option. You know, he's effective thrower from

(02:00:35):
the pocket or when rolling is right. But we'll struggle
with rolling left. But that happens to a lot of
guys rolling the left thrown against the body you go.
You know, if you're going with the body momentums going
that way, he's got to be careful not to throw
against the defensive back against the grain, which is what
they're talking about here.

Speaker 3 (02:00:51):
He struggled to stay healthy. That's a time.

Speaker 38 (02:00:53):
That's a difficult situation for a guy that's only mediocre talent.
It's not in there, but we're putting it in. Uh
And and why I say mediocre, I'm not talking about
guys of the professional football level starting foot. I'm talking
about guys who are like him, are just trying to
make the team. He's struggling to stay healthy for a
full season of college, and we'll need to bulk up
if he wants to survive in the riggers of the.

Speaker 3 (02:01:13):
Full NFL season.

Speaker 38 (02:01:13):
I want to say, I think I'll take a look
at Pikes fiuh. Pike has good characters battle back from injuries,
which is pretty much the opposite of what we're saying before.

Speaker 3 (02:01:23):
The one has ideal height.

Speaker 39 (02:01:26):
I mean, this is a guy who can see you
over the lining. I can t all his receivers. She
knows where they're going to be. It's not like a
Russell Wilson type of situation where he has to get
into the passing like Kyler Murray. Tiny little Kayler Murdy.
Baby had a very accurate.

Speaker 3 (02:01:43):
In the short under his passing game.

Speaker 38 (02:01:46):
He's productive playing, he's spread off bench, and he's gonna
go where he needs to be. He shows very good
touch and feel, and I understand about touch and field
when it comes to the abilities of this young Tony
Pike right here, and I say this with all gratitude,
we know where this is going.

Speaker 3 (02:02:04):
I'll tell you what. I'm going to go through.

Speaker 38 (02:02:05):
Some weaknesses right now, man, the necessary bulk to withstand
the pounding at the next level. Facts, I'll tell you what.
I'm glad that's the sentences about sports right now has
been injured and durability is a concern. I mean, it's
pretty amazing when they just say the same thing over

(02:02:26):
and over and over. I like to do an overview
of the guy writing the overview. Man earned his living
underneath in college, earned his living underneath.

Speaker 3 (02:02:39):
That's how you guys say it.

Speaker 38 (02:02:40):
If you said it, it sounds a little weird or
the other in college and does not possess prototypical arm
strength to drive the ball downfield on the deep out
that says something that's uh, that's arm pounds.

Speaker 3 (02:02:54):
You gotta be true la speed to pick up chunks
of yard with his feet. That goes back to that
or nine. Man, Yeah, you're you're you're an interior alignment. Six.

Speaker 38 (02:03:08):
If someone's chasing me for six, start to hear a
little Peyton Manning in there. I wish I wish you
had a little more Peyton Manning and we wouldn't be
talking to you right now you'd be doing pizza commercials.
Why did you get to it? Why didn't Why didn't
Peyton Manning do a steak commercial? Man o Maha thinks
I see that pretty good idea right there? Man man,

(02:03:29):
this is uh, this is fantastic. Thank you so much
for stopping by. Thanks for having us on stage dot com,
Frank on Stage dot com and the shows this weekend?
Uh tonight one at the Liberty Funnybone, Cincinnati Funnybone Liberty
dot Uh Funnybone dot com.

Speaker 3 (02:03:43):
I believe, maybe not?

Speaker 38 (02:03:45):
Just go Frank on Stage dot com and then uh
Columbus Funnybone on Sunday, uh and all the other dates
all around the.

Speaker 3 (02:03:51):
All around the world. Are we going? I have to
ask before we let you go. Are you a Skyline
Chili guy? I'm not a Chili guy at all. I
I are they sponsor here?

Speaker 7 (02:04:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:04:02):
I love him? Right before you go on stage tonight
it give me a shot. No, that's a great idea
you had any Cincinnati favorites. I know you're in here
lot similar to the Robert Downey Junior Belchi team going
out the other way.

Speaker 5 (02:04:15):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (02:04:16):
I appreciate you guys.

Speaker 4 (02:04:17):
Yeahs Frank, We'll be back ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (02:04:22):
Lowegar reality is they're probably not good enough.

Speaker 9 (02:04:25):
He dissects the local sports scene.

Speaker 3 (02:04:27):
They're not consistent enough.

Speaker 9 (02:04:28):
The way up fourth grader dissects across not reliable. Loweger
Today at three on ESPN fifteen.

Speaker 3 (02:04:36):
Thirty from the Wyoming Air temp Star Weather Center.

Speaker 1 (02:04:39):
Three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
It's time for Cincy three sixty Quick Hits on ESPN fifteen.

Speaker 4 (02:04:49):
Moe's in the building. The Friday edition of the Uegger
Show is coming up just a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (02:04:54):
I get to follow that. Yeah, I get to follow
Frank Caliendo. Yep.

Speaker 4 (02:04:58):
Do you want to use any of that he left
my rap report there? If you want to go through
some of that this afternoon on your show, you can
do that if you'd like. We won't talk about it enough.

Speaker 5 (02:05:05):
No, we don't.

Speaker 10 (02:05:06):
What I what I had actually never seen this strengths.
Pike has good character. Well, question Mark, now we need
to we need to discuss.

Speaker 3 (02:05:16):
Uh, what do you what do you plan on using
for your show today? What are you doing? Who are
you talking about?

Speaker 7 (02:05:20):
Well?

Speaker 10 (02:05:20):
Speaking of college football players, I have a new favorite one.
This dude at Tennessee who is holding out.

Speaker 2 (02:05:26):
This is my guy.

Speaker 10 (02:05:28):
This is my guy because I love anything that makes like,
you know, stodgy old college football fans lose their by
Oh they're big man. This is my guy, and he
is doing something that more people should do. They will
now this is my guy. So we're going to talk
about him. Red's play the Pirates tonight and Big Series.

(02:05:48):
I cannot wait if they sweep. So I had a
conversation earlier today with someone who said, you know what
if you could just get to the end of this month,
you know, because they're three under, and I'm like, just
please stop, five hundred, please stop. This is to find
my existence for decades.

Speaker 6 (02:06:06):
Please.

Speaker 3 (02:06:07):
How about win the baseball game tonight. We're gonna talk
more about Ellie de la Cruz. It's interesting.

Speaker 10 (02:06:12):
I think more people see it the way I do,
which is, no, you shouldn't move them to the outfield,
but you should be open to the possibility long term.
And so we're going to expand upon that. And I
know what I want the Bengals to do in the
draft if they don't trade down. Okay, so we're gonna
get to all of that and so much more between
three and sec.

Speaker 4 (02:06:30):
Got to make sure people know that tonight the game.
If you don't listen the Reds on the radio, you
have to watch in an Apple that's get you know,
because people, yeah, right before game time six thirty rolls around,
they're gonna be mad.

Speaker 3 (02:06:40):
So what's interesting to me?

Speaker 5 (02:06:41):
Why the game?

Speaker 10 (02:06:42):
So I don't like this, Like it's it's becoming more
and more difficult to be a sports fan because it's
more and more difficult to you know, see your team plying.
I mean it just it just I I don't like it.
But what's interesting to me is whenever there's an episode
of Ted Lasso, it feels like everybody has Apple TV,
but you put a baseball game on Apple TV, it

(02:07:03):
feels like nobody has it. And the thing is like
their their baseball production is good, but yeah it sucks, man,
Like you're having to pay more and more for stuff.
You're having to pay more and more and you know
it's just one more thing and you might go, well,
it's a regular season baseball game, who cares?

Speaker 3 (02:07:21):
But it's never like on just like the Tuesday, though
it's on the Friday.

Speaker 12 (02:07:24):
But the thing if the.

Speaker 10 (02:07:25):
Reds get good, they're going to be on Apple TV
even more like, and if they get good, who knows
if they'll sell a package of their games like the
Yankees have to Amazon that sort of thing. Like, it's
more and more difficult to be a sports fan to
see your team play, and it's more and more difficult
to be a general sports fan, right, Like if you
love all sports, which I think the three of us do, right,

(02:07:47):
we like some more than others. I gotta have Peacock,
and I gotta have NETFLIXX and I gotta have ESPN Plus.

Speaker 4 (02:07:54):
And like I don't like it makes it an easier
sell for my wife though, because you know they have
stuff for the kids too. Kids got to wat stuff
on yourth so now I have to watch them.

Speaker 10 (02:08:02):
Of course you could listen tonight on Yeah seven hundred
with announcers who come on the show and I.

Speaker 4 (02:08:08):
Asm, what did you make a little boy at the
Master's yesterday with the upside down hat and then Peen
and the creek.

Speaker 3 (02:08:12):
Oh you gotta go, man.

Speaker 10 (02:08:13):
Here's my question for you about the Masters, because we
were talking about it wednesday. So I was lucky enough
to go in twenty nineteen, and the best part was
you don't have your cell phone with you, like I
went Thursday and Friday.

Speaker 3 (02:08:25):
Was it hard at first?

Speaker 19 (02:08:26):
No?

Speaker 10 (02:08:26):
It was the two things I love most was cigar
smoking encouraged, not just allowed, but almost encouraged, and to
no cell phone, Like I went to bed Thursday night
thinking I can't wait to spend eight hours without my
cell phone tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (02:08:39):
It was awesome.

Speaker 10 (02:08:40):
If I said you could have super Bowl tickets, Oh,
but you cannot take your cell phone with you? Would
you go yes? I think there's a lot of people
who say yes and then push comes to shove. Would
go uh uh, yeah, I can't my life. I wish
I didn't have money.

Speaker 3 (02:08:54):
If I go to the super Bowl and don't take
pictures of myself at the super Bowl? Did I really go?
Is it true?

Speaker 4 (02:08:58):
At the Masters their cups are like great so if
they fall on the ground, they don't stand out of
my recollection?

Speaker 3 (02:09:04):
Was they have like these?

Speaker 10 (02:09:05):
They're not clear, but they're clear ish cups for domestic
beer and then the green cup is for the imported beer.
Because I have one green cup and a bunch of
clear ish ones. Did you go crazy at the gift shop?

Speaker 3 (02:09:17):
I did so.

Speaker 10 (02:09:19):
I bought this pullover that cost like like the same
as my wife's new car because we beat the tariff
with the car we bought last week, but as so
much so I bought this pullover in the Master's was
early April, and I went to Kalamazoo, Michigan for James
Rapine's wedding and I left it in the hotel room

(02:09:42):
and I was like, crestfallen.

Speaker 3 (02:09:44):
Did you get it back?

Speaker 38 (02:09:45):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (02:09:46):
I went a lot.

Speaker 10 (02:09:49):
I've left a lot of stuff in Michigan. I've lost
Michigan and me not a good But I went to
the gift shop and it was interesting. Bought a lot
of stuff for people and they all reimburse me. But
like when they go places and I'm like, hey, you
want to.

Speaker 4 (02:10:02):
Bring something back? Can interesting? Austin, you want to let
MO know about our poll question today?

Speaker 3 (02:10:07):
Yeah, our Revive Fitness Systems dot com pole question. Pretty simple,
which do you have more faith in the Bengals defense
or the Reds offense Bengals defense? Fifty four percent agree
with you and say Bengals defense. I disagree. I say
Red's offense.

Speaker 10 (02:10:23):
I say Bengals defense. As long as I know the
Trey Hendrickson is going to play for them, and also
the Bengals defense only has to be okay. I think
the Reds offense is going to have to be better
than okay. My point was, I don't know if Trey's
going to be there. That's that's true. I'm assuming he will,
but we don't know what.

Speaker 4 (02:10:37):
The Reds offense is if Stevenson and Austin Hayes, yeah,
mc all in together.

Speaker 10 (02:10:42):
I think the Bengals defense, Dana and I were talking
about this on Tuesday. I think the Bengals defense, there
are still some high upside guys, like I still believe
in the secondary. There's a reason why they drafted so
many of those guys early. They've shown flashes. Now it's
up to Al Golden to get more out of them.
I think a football coach has more of an impact
than a hitting coach or a baseball manager. I think

(02:11:03):
there's a lot of high upside guys on the Bengals defense.
I don't know how many high upside guys they are
on the on the Reds offense, and two of the
guys that you would say have upside are hurt, Like,
what are we gonna watch Matt McClean play on a
regular basis?

Speaker 4 (02:11:16):
Without him getting home. I think the curious thing now
is McLean is out. Stevenson's been out so long now
that you've got to think, even when he's one hundred
percent healthy, the ramp up time is going to be
even further. And we were told ten days ago or
so that when the Reds were turned with the Pirates
to Night, Austin Hayes was going to be back, and
now it's talked about like maybe he can be back
for Baltimore. Yeah, so I know he's starting the Triple

(02:11:36):
A assignment. But there are so many questions just for
Red lineup. And one of my favorite things now is
when the Reds lineup gets posted because people get so
match and today it got posted. Spencer Steer is now
hitting clean up at least still hitting third. Gavin Lux
goes down in the order, but people say, well, why'd
you bring up Nolva Marte If you don't hit him
against left handed.

Speaker 3 (02:11:53):
Don't I don't disagree, Yeah, what's the harm and why
is he up? Well, I mean he's not very good,
that's why don't play him. But I've seen this so
we're all clear. But no one on this offense is
very good. Yeah, he's not either. But I mean, we're
giving up on Noelvie Martine already. Yeah, I think so
why I'm not saying they should, but I'm telling you
that's that's how they see him. Then why then why

(02:12:15):
even bring him back up? That's abundantly because they had to.
That's Rocks roster flexibility while McLean is out. Yeah, but
they're not gonna play him. What's the harmon playing him?
I don't know that there is. I'm just telling you
that this is how they see Noelvie Martin. Now they do,
but you don't give the guy a chance to change
her mind.

Speaker 10 (02:12:32):
Right, how they see its abundantly clear how they see him.
They send him to the minor leagues and understandably so.
But like if you're gonna call him up and your
team's not very good offensively, like why not?

Speaker 3 (02:12:43):
Why not? You have to give people a chance to
succeed against the lefty is when he would succeed. Jamber
Candelario is still in the line and he's not good.
He's not good. Yeah, that's the difference. Is the money, right,
Like Joey Vado says, money buys you at bats?

Speaker 5 (02:12:55):
Sure? Right?

Speaker 3 (02:12:56):
Wrong or indifferent? Jamers making a lot more money than
Noel Blake. Dun's not very good. He's gonna keep it
staying in the two hole though true, I.

Speaker 10 (02:13:03):
Mean the Marte thing like a year and a half ago. Hey,
this guy's a professional hitter.

Speaker 3 (02:13:08):
Look at it. Look at is that bat's late in
twenty twenty three and eighty bad games changes that? But
he apparently hit well in the miners.

Speaker 10 (02:13:14):
Well, what I would say is, boy, you were awfully
quick to change your mind about Noelve Marte when you've
not changed your mind about a whole lot of guys
that you've given a very long lead to. And again,
I don't know if Noelve Marte is good or not,
but I like one bad half season, and it was
only a half season because of his own behavior. I
get that, but one bad half a season, We're just

(02:13:34):
guy's not a part of our plan moving forward.

Speaker 3 (02:13:36):
Really, if they did that with every player, right right?

Speaker 4 (02:13:38):
I also hate that. I'm so mad about it now.
I'm more furious as days go by that Ellie stays
in the three hole. It doesn't make anything watching every
top hitter. Look at the top ten hitters in Major
League Baseball one or two hole. This isn't years ago
where you're putting the three and four hole because guys
are getting on and then you get all those RBI chances.
This lineup is not built to get singles and then
have Ellie drive him in. So put him in the

(02:13:59):
winter or two hole and get more.

Speaker 10 (02:14:00):
In April of twenty fourteen, Brian Price, who was not
a successful manager, in a Saturday afternoon game against the
Tampa Bay Rays, decided about Joey Vado lead off. That
same day, I got engaged, and you know what the
bigger deal was for me, Joey, because the Reds did
the right thing and took their best hitter and hit
him lead off. And I explained that to the woman

(02:14:22):
that I eventually am still married to. Hey, look here's
the current wife, my current wife, here's this ring. I'm
glad you're gonna marry me, but I'm gonna be honest
with you. I'm already very happy that Brian Price batted
Joey Vado lead off.

Speaker 3 (02:14:35):
You set a standard early. And she looked at me
and just like, did you get insurance for this ring?

Speaker 7 (02:14:41):
She'd care or.

Speaker 3 (02:14:43):
April twelfth, twenty fourteen, tomorrow, Wow. In an ode to
Brian Price, Terry Francona will do the same thing. I
Price sucked Mullwagger's next, thanks to all of our callers listeners.

Speaker 10 (02:14:56):
I didn't want to see him at a Longhorned steakhouse.
That's the least of news hanging had at Longhorn Steakhouse.
Berating the server.

Speaker 3 (02:15:04):
Yeah, it was awesome.

Speaker 6 (02:15:05):
I was for the server.

Speaker 10 (02:15:07):
I'm like, dude, there's Brian Price just destroying this poor kid.
Is like served him the wrong cut of steak or something.

Speaker 4 (02:15:13):
I once had a lunch years and years ago with
Mark Mallory at a long Horn steakhouse. You didn't have
a great weekend. Mullagger's Next. ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.
