Speaker 1 (00:00):
One six point seven light a Fedwick Covey and Christine

(00:02):
in the Morning. That's our show title. But Christine is
not here today. We got Nina del Rio filling in
for Christine. Good morning, and again, just touching on the
breaking news you'll be hearing about all morning long. Pope
Francis passed away at the age of eighty eight. You
mentioned it the news about two songs ago. We'll talk
about this off and on all day long. It's definitely
a big story, huge. It's good to see you again.

(00:24):
You were in the city pretty much all weekend. I
heard you on the radio at times.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I was on this in the city. Yesterday. I was
in the city and a friend of mine mine and
I wait to go see a play downtown. And then
we're walking back and we walked through Washington Square Park
and it's packed like this. It's so that was my
question and beautiful and Washington Square Park is like, this
is not relaxing. There's so many people in there. It
was like protest sized crowds, but really kind of quiet
and nothing was going on. And we noticed there's like

(00:49):
smoke lingering over everybody. And then we're like, oh, it's
four twenty oh, and we look at our watches and
it was four thirty, so.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
It was April twenty at four thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
So everybody had just like lit up, and the whole
park was like this this. It was very mellow.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I think most people know about the date four twenty,
But for those that are tuned in right now that
don't know the significance of the date.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
I don't know how to be that, How to explain it.
How do we explain it? It's a day where people
light up, light up, yes, things that aren't cigarettes, right, yeah, yeah,
it was dogs and everybody out there. We just well,
it was very quiet. It was weirdly quiet, I will
say that.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
But you answered my question. The vibe of the city
yesterday and all weekend felt vibrant because it was warmouths
people were in a good mood.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Sprang everybody's you know, you just take your coats off.
You can walk around. Lots of people in short sleeves
and shorts.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
People are dressed like it's you know, July fifth.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Well, we weren't dressed for July. We should have been
dressed for July. The family and I went to Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Oh yeah, that's where I grew up. And it was me, Coco,
my wife, Naomi, and Miles. We all went down to
see Grandpa, Aunt Jenny, uncle Rob, you know, everybody. We
went to the beach because it was like eighty five degrees,
but we didn't wear beach gear. Oh, and we should

(02:05):
have had beach gear. We had short sleeved shirts on,
and Naomi and Miles just had jeans on. But it
was one of those trips where you're like, let's just
get our feet in the sand. Yes, but when they
saw the ocean, oh, they.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Had to go.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
They had to go right to the water. And so,
you know, we rolled their pants up but over like,
give me ten fifteen minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Then you got waves just like wet jeans.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Wet jeans. Correct, it didn't take long, but they had
a blast. But that water temperature, uh, fifty six degrees.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Well, you had a little video of Miles. It was
so cute. He was like, you know, like his little
freezing feet.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, he was all excited and then when he what
did he do at the end.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
He spit or he gave a raspberry.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Because they had sand. It was so windy, there was
sand blowing in their mouth.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
It was so cute.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
So he was like all excited and he goes they
get sand down. But it was a great weekend and
they did really good, you know, like, yeah, how are
you on road trips back in the day.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
I don't. All I remember was we were really excited
by this bag of garbage of food, like my mother
would get like oreos and fruit roll ups and everything
just to keep you quiet in the back. Okay, the food.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
So do you remember the duration of a long road
trip forever? Because in my mind, when are we there?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
When are we there? When are we there?

Speaker 1 (03:10):
We got a lot of that, I bet, But to
me four hours was like my limit. I couldn't do
a four hour road trip. Anything more than four hours.
I'm done.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
And that drive down there is six that's a long drive.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
And they did really well. I'm gonna shout out Naomi
and Miles right now. They're not listening, but yeah they do.
They sleep for a good chunk of it. Okay, But
my wife is really good at surprises. Oh so when
they start getting restless, she'll say, all right, guys, who
wants a surprise? And it could be something like a
car like Miles less cars. Yeah, something simple but it
keeps them entertained for a good thirty forty.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Minutes till we get a bag full of surprises. That's
a great idea.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, yeah, all right, you ready for three pretty cool things? Yes,
here's my question to you. Oh, we only have two
people here today. Yeah, this producer Christen's in Orlando.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
You get two?

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Are we doing? Is one of us doing two cool things?

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Or should we just do two cool things?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I got a lot of cool things today. It seems
like it was a great weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
All right, we'll do three pretty cool things coming up
next one of us will do too. Sure, very confused,
it's way too early.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Cobby and Christine in the morning. More coming up one,
oh six point seven? Light at them? More Covey and
Christine and the great music variety you expect next on
light at Them?

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
It's three pretty cool things you need to know.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
With Covey and Nina in for Christine, and since Christen's
on vacation as well, we've decided to give you folks
three pretty cool things despite only two people being here.
So you're doing two, I'm doing one.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
You go firsty, I'm not here every day. I'll take
a little extra work, it's all right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So you've heard how we're often attracted to our romantic
partners by their sense of smell. Yeah, new research says
that's also how we get our friends fire smell. We're
attracted to somebody else's perfumer, deoderan or just their personal smell.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Do you know you're going around like taking the whiff
off your dudes?

Speaker 1 (05:00):
That wouldn't go over very well at work though, you just.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Can't tell them, it's right, It's just happening though, interesting
without you even knowing.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
All right, Well, here's a fun cool thing. Peanut Peter
Pan peanut butter. They did a national survey and found
that the average American eats around three thousand peanut butter
and jelly sandwiches in their lifetime, with a typical adult
eating three per month. Now, I enjoy a good peanut
butter and jelly sandwich, but I don't have three per months.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
That means some people are having like twice a day.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
That's a lot, right, But three thousand in your lifetime.
Do you think you've had three thousand yet? Of course
you're going to live a long time.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
I eat a lot of peanut butter. I don't need
a lot of jelly, but I eat peanut butter every day,
do you, Yeah, so maybe just peanut butter.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
All right, what's your other cool thing?

Speaker 2 (05:41):
So I thought you would really love this, especially people
who a love TV and be love a little bit
of like natury stuff. This is the week for Sweden's
hit reality TV show. They do it every year. It's
called the Great Goose Migration. So it's a reality show
that follows a livestream. I'm sorry, moose migration.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Well maybe the spinoff is going to be a goose migration.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
They do both at the same time.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
So wait again, they're following moosese.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
It's on this path through summer grazing. They've done, you know,
for a millennia. It's NonStop, twenty days remote cameras following
moose with drones as they make their way through forests.
It's the biggest show in Sweden for the period they
really is twenty four hours. Yeah, a great moose migration.
I said goose migration because I can't see without my glasses.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
But yeah, one letter will change the whole show.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
But they're both animals, I mean, yeah, it's both nature.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
And the goose thing could be a thing. Why not,
we could be onto something.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
There's Canadian geese all around here. Let's get some cameras
on them.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, there you go. I'm with you, and make a
jacket with it.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Get your revenge body more Covey and Christine and the
great music variety you expect next on Light at Them six.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Point SEVENFM with Covey, Nina del Rio in for Christine
Today producer Christen's on vacation And if you're just waking
up and maybe you haven't heard the news or didn't
get the alert on your phone, but Pope Francis has
passed away. The fatcant announced around four am our time.
I think it was ten am in Rome when it
came out. Yes, but just crazy, you know, right after Easter,

(07:08):
a bit.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Of a surprise. I mean we knew he had been
in the hospital for about a month. He had pneumonia,
had various respiratory elements. But he made an appearance yesterday
in the popemobile at Easter services. He met with Jade
Vance yesterday. He had a string of people. They had
been saying his doctors had urged him to kind of,
you know, be a little bit more careful and not
do so many public appearances. And he worked until the

(07:30):
last minute.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
He really did. Yeah, and I think he wanted to
do that. Yeah, he mentioned before he wants to work. Yeah,
all the way to the very end. But yeah, just
the timing.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
Is just you know.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yeah. So now there's nine days of morning and then
they get into choosing the next pope. But we've got
nine days of all sorts of you know, conversation about
his life and all what could happen next. So it's
going to be interesting.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
So over a week until we do the smoke thing.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yes, So the smoke thing, Yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Have to learn about again. I learned about it twelve
years ago.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Yeah, you know what's so interesting, it's only been twelve years.
Doesn't it seem like he just got the job.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
It does.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
He's the first last American pope.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
That was like five years.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
It went by very quickly, actually, but.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Us twelve years ago he was declared pope.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Yeah, now there's two it's two hundred and fifty two
I believe cardinals from around the world which will come
and choose. So it's a whole process that will start
a little over week from now.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
All right, thank you for catching us up on things.
We're coming right back here at Light FM.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Hang on more Covey and Christine and the great music
variety you expect next on Light at them.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Happy Monday one of six point seven Light offm with
Kebby and Nina and for Christine producer Christen's on vacation.
If you went to the movies over the weekend, maybe
you saw this, Michael B. Jordan's R rated vampire thriller Sinners,
directed by Ryan Kugler. It topped the box office with
forty five point six million in its opening weekend. That's
a lot, it is. This marks the largest debut for

(08:49):
an original film since Jordan Peels Us in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Wow, that's a long time ago.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
I know.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Michael Jordan's really good though, and that really is those movies.
It's a good pair.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Do you think you put the B in there just
to separate himself from.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Absolutely the basketball player said it. It's like you gotta right,
you have to.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
So Senators was number one. It finally knocked off a
Minecraft movie which had been number one forever. That still
made forty one point three million over the weekend. The
King of Kings is number three. The Amateur was number four.
In a movie called Warfare came in at number five.
I haven't been to a theater in a hot minute, mate.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
It's been That's the thing, right, They're mostly sequels and
movies for dudes.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
And a lot of Marvel too, a lot of Marvel.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Yeah, they're just selling concessions, I think, right, like kids
coming in buying, you know, eight dollar popcorn.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
That's a great point because the Minecraft movie itself made
a lot of money. But then you think about the concessions.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Yeah, but think about like an original movie like that
an adult might want to see that doesn't have kids. Right,
you're not going in there buying all that food. You're not.
You're waiting to come on Netflix. I get it, right, right,
I get it.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
What's your go to? By the way, at the concession stand?
Oh oh, goobers are raising Oh never raisins, milk duds
or popcorn or Goober's.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
With raisins too. No, No, the name is so.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Raisins, the raisin nets with the chocolate raisins.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, what's a goober?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Uber? Was just chocolate? If I recall?

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Just No, I feel like, wasn't that M and M.
Well they have Yeah, they have the coating right, goober
just so unappetizing the name right, it sounds like a booger.
It just sounds terrible.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
All right, let's change gears.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Sorry if you're eating.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Yeah, more Covey and Christine and the great music variety
you expect next on Light.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
At them Home for three hours of commercial free music.
That will kick off at eight twenty at seven oh eight.
Cubby and Nina in for Christine. She's off today. Producer
Kristen is in Orlando with the family doing Disney World.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
People are just you know, extending the weekend exactly.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Hope you had a great Easter and sad news. Of
course you touched on it on the news. In the
news about eight minutes ago, Pope Francis has passed away
at the age of eighty eight. Yes, more on that
coming up. But that broke around what four am our time?

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Yeah, it was around ten am in Rome.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yeah, on a much lighter note, as I'm opening all
my web pages here, you know, I'm a browser with
news on it and browser with weather on it. I
got a TMU browser, I got an Amazon browser. I
got all kinds of browsers open, and then I caught
this on Reddit. You know, we love Reddit. Yeah, they
are our show preps.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Sometimes that's over there. There's always on Reddit. They always
get me selling Reddit.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Yeah. So Reddit asked a bunch of people what TV
show remained a ten out of ten throughout its entire run. Oh,
that's a good question because there's many good shows, but
how many are legit great? Every single episode you.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Can if there's a rerun on, it's always great, boom always.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Well, here's what people said on Reddit. I want to
add to the list. Okay, so Deadwood, which I've never seen,
has a ten out of ten.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Deadwood had some good episodes.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
You've seen Deadwood?

Speaker 2 (11:57):
I have, I'd never finished it. So can I agree
with this?

Speaker 1 (12:00):
I'm not sure, But from what you saw you liked.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Now here's one that comes up every single list we do.
Breaking Bad.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
You saw Breaking Bad?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
No?

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Oh no.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
When Jamie worked here, she was always trying to get
me to watch it.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Jamie was like the number one breaking She had a podcast, right, yeah, Breaking.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Yeah, correct, And I've heard great things about it.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Breaking Bad is actually great. It has phases, though some
of her more violence, some are more about the family
like it's sort of it covers a lot of territory.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
But the fans say every episode, the whole season, every season.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Has been I'll tell you what. We watched that in
like a week and a half, all of them, and
then we had nightmares. So really put that way, very stressful.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Chernobyl is up there is great.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
That's a limited series. Better call Sauw great, Fleabag fantastic.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Shit's Creek. See. I liked it.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
It's kind of corny.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
It takes a while to get going, but yeah, you're right,
like is every episode.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
The characters are likable, though, I'll say that thirty Rock
thirty Rock is great.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Malcolm in the Middle never saw never saw that either.
Mind Hunter never saw it. No clue. The Sopranos, that
was mine. I was gonna. I was gonna. I was like,
if they don't have Sopranos on here, I'm gonna say Sopranos.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
But there's only one bad Sopranos episode. Really, there's one,
which one you think is bad. It's the one the
Columbus Parade Day Parade one where they're they're having a
fight because about Columbus Day Parade and sal they go
out and beat some guys up because they don't want
to celebrate Columbus anymore. They want to call it like
whatever other day or something. It's annoying, so I don't

(13:29):
remember that. It seems like they just came up with
an idea out of nowhere.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
So as great as that show was, that episode stunck
was annoying. I remember the one what was there was
like a horse painting that they had to find or.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Oh yeah, everyone.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Pile remember I remember, not really caring that much about
pilem yeh.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
They ended the horse had a bad end.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
I know, yeah, yeah. Uh the wire the wires on here.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
That's a great show. That's also dark. That's a nightmare show.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Golden Girls.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Never saw Golden Girls, not one episode. Never interested.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
I've seen a few and they are funny.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
They're on Broadway now, right, that's right, I should see it.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Game of Thrones too is on here. Not bad. So anyway,
what TV show.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Mad Men made the list? Got mad Men?

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Oh I forgot to flip it over two pages? Mad
Men and Firefly, oh and Seinfeld. There you go.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Mad Men is absolutely excell and.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Severance is starting to get some starting to heat up,
get some traction. So what TV show remained a ten
out of ten throughout its entire run. I say, Sopranos
is my main one, And you say, what if you
had to.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Pick one of these, probably Sopranos. Okay, I like mad
Men too, And.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
I'm gonna give Brady Bunch an audible mention.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Helligan's Island, Rady Gilligan's Island was hot.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Cobby and Christine in the Morning more next on one
six point seven light f M, It's Cobby and Christine's
Crazy first Dates.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Hey, Mark, tell us about your crazy first day. What
did this happen when?

Speaker 5 (14:55):
On his first date? It was a group of my friends,
group of our friends. You know, they set us up,
so we were we met a lounge, so, you know,
we got there, everything was good, and then all of
a sudden, she started talking about is the first time
I have a medicolo. So it was so stunt. I'm
marriage and house and everything else. And I got very
skeptical and you know, a little nervous, and she was

(15:17):
jumping the gunch ken. She was persistent, kept on going
and going. I'm like, okay, So then I'm like, you
know what, I'm just not gonna watch. So I went
to the bathroom and came back around I said, listen,
you're very nice, but you know I cannot, you know,
it's too much right now. I want to get to
know you, and you know, you're talking about back to
the house and everything else. So we we decided, you know,
that day, so she's just hung out with her friends.

(15:38):
I went back with my friends and my sister and everything.
So then not even thirty seconds later, a girl comes
up to me. She's like, oh, my sister wants to
talk to you. This is at the same place where
I had my first day, which which went out. I'm like,
all right, which is sister? And she's like, oh, she's
at the bar over there. So I walked up to her.
I'm like, hey, how are you. She's like she didn't know.
She's like, warre you my? Oh my name is Laurke.
She's like and I'm looking at my like wow. She

(16:01):
she had no idea for try stepping up with us.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Sneaker sent you over. Okay, yeah.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
So she's like using on mind know how to vote
that night at the hospital. I really don't want to
talk right now, Like all right, I respect that. So
she's like, oh, you know, let's try I tried it anyway,
we'll talk if I mid so we're spoken by ten minutes.
They exchange numbers and everything else, and twelve years later
we're married. We have three beautiful children. So basically, a
bad first date which ky down south, I met somebody

(16:28):
else at the same place and we ended up getting married.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Wow, you were meant to be there?

Speaker 5 (16:32):
