Speaker 1 (00:00):
One of six point seven Light FM Cubby and Christine
producer Kristen. It is five oh seven in the morning
out there in California and we go live. Who do
we have, Christine.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Harry Medved, our friend from the Cinema Foundation. Good morning, Harry.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
Good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Oh thank you guys. Done, We're good. Thanks for getting
up early with us beachside. It sounds like you're in a.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Hotel in Carlsbad, California right now.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
I am. We're on vacation. But oh, super excited about
this thing. That's one thing to talk to you guys.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, what's happening in the theater is this weekend and
into next week. Well, one of the reasons I'm excited
is that is a big charity event. So it's always
good that we're doing something for a variety of the
Children's Club, wil Rogers, the Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, and
also for the Cinema Foundation, the nonprofit I work for.
So for the first time, we're putting together a glimpse
(00:47):
of what people saw at Cinema Con a few weeks ago.
It's coming to your local theater. And then as we're
bringing something called Sneak Peak Showcase it's all the top
movies that you're going to see this year at the theaters.
We're showing you behind the scenes clips, we're showing trailers
and a lot of this stuff you can't see online.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
And it's for three dollars. All the proceeds go to charity.
So that's on Tuesday, the twenty second and Thursday. So
that's next Tuesday and Thursday. That's the twenty fourth, And
I can't wait to go see people going to the theaters.
People love seeing trailers. This has been going on in
Europe for years, but it's the first time we're doing
it in the States. It's that thousands of screens across
North America, so we're super excited about that.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
That's fun.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Can't wait. Yes, yeah, it's gonna be great. And then
also of course playing at theaters. I mean even in
that night you can go see Disney's Thunderbolts. But got
the movie that I saw at CinemaCon that I loved
was How to Train Your Dragon. I think there's going
to be a long extended clip from that. It's a
live action remake, and I kind of think, like, do
we really need all these live action remakes? You know,
you see them all the time. This one it felt
(01:50):
so original. It was kind of like a little bit
of Harry Potter, a little bit of Pirates of the Caribbean.
I know that doesn't sound for original, but it just
it brought new life to the habit the Trainior Dragon franchise.
It is fantastic.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah. And then this weekend, of course, Easter weekend, we're
getting a couple of big releases, right.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, Well, there's this movie that Michael B. Jordan's stars
in that's directed by Ryan Coogler, the same guys who
brought you Black Panther and Creed, and it is the
highest rated vampire movie ever Hunting Tomatoes. It's called Sinners
that takes place in nineteen thirties Mississippi. Is very bloody,
it's very gripping, it's very good. It's going to be huge.
(02:32):
And of course a Minecraft movie for the families is
also killing it. And with Jack Black and Jason Momoa,
that's completely ridiculous fun just and the kids are just
loving this film. For me, it's so exciting working for
the theaters because we're seeing them packed again and people
are talking about some theaters are unhappy about what's going on.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh yeah, Jack Blackhead, like a little public service announcement,
so to speak.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Popcorn. What's that that's so big?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Even Jockey, you know, I got to tell you nothing. Look,
you know, how can you be unhappy about having a
full theater? You know it just we love it when
people are immersing themselves in movies, and we just don't
want them to do it at the expense of other
people's enjoyment. You know. It's like, but it's like a
rocky horror picture show for kids. It's how do you
not love seeing so many people having a great experience
(03:22):
that you can only have the big screens? So thank
you guys for let us talk about how exciting it
is to go to the movies this weekend, I know
for other families Against the King of Kings or Fathom
Entertainment has the chosen The Last Supper also playing Easter weekends,
so it's gonna be big. Wow, it's gonna be big this.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Week Thank you, Harry, nice good talking to Thank you guys.
So you're gonna go back to bed right now in California?
Speaker 3 (03:42):
No, No, I can't know. I'm trying to figure out
how I can get my tickets for Big for the
Sneak Peak Showcase because I gotta go too. I gotta
eat my own food. So, by the way, you able
so tickets are available on fandango. People should know that
there are partners on.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
This, Harry. I think like you should have some connections
you can get in.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah. Yeah, with Fandango. I definitely I know people there. Yes,
I know you still work there.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Well, Harry, have a great weekend and we'll talk to
you soon.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Thank you. It's good to thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Have a wonderful weekend. Take care of you.
