(00:01):
Bailey now has a song going throughmy mind because we were talking about the
mixtape game and Bailey's like, canI use that song? Because and I
saw her face. Now I'm abeliever, and so that song has been
going through my mind. Thank youBailey for the past fifteen minutes or song.
One might say, it's one ofthe best I get stupid commercial jingles
stuck in my mind. You seemlike that type of person. And in
(00:24):
two three hundred Empire Today, hesees you in the park and they look
at you and they're like, whatis he thinking? And it's just like
five eye your brain, Empire. We've all admitted that we have the Daily
Bailey intro in our heads a lotof times. Because I woke up.
I didn't wake up with it inmy head, but as I was leaving,
I knew that that was like oneof the first things we were doing,
(00:45):
so I it was in my head, like singing in my head.
As I was coming in this morning, I was like, all right,
so daily by daily ball, Okay, you didn't need to have her form
you. Okay, can we geton with it. Let's move on here.
Here we go with the Minnesota Goodbyeand it's mostly about emails. Thanks
Bailey for discussing your insecurities with everyone. Me too have many insecurities about my
(01:11):
looks. I am fifty two.I'm a fitness instructor, but when I
was in middle school, in highschool, I was teased for my looks.
They called me a troll, fat, and other not so nice things.
In the eighties, I was sizeten ten. Still today, I
have many insecurities. I always have. I always have neurofibromatosis type one and
that never helps with my securities. So if you're wondering on just how bad
(01:36):
I could be, this is me. I'm fifty two, taken yesterday,
so my insecurities still haunt me aswell. Bailey, I can relate.
I am looking at this woman andshe is attractive, but it scares me.
It makes me sad that she thinksthat she's not attractive and she's flexing
(01:57):
her muscle because she's a badass.But she's had a very sweet face.
Sure, I mean, and andI think that everybody. It sucks that
I knew a girl when I wasin school. Her name is Linda,
and Linda was just a third graderor fourth grader, and she was very
unfortunate looking, and people used totease her because she was poor and didn't
(02:21):
dress well and she was not attractive, and I felt so bad for her
even as a little kid. I'mlike, God, that poor girl.
She gets picked on all the timebecause of the way she looks. And
I hope that somewhere Linda has growninto her looks. But I will tell
you to this person, Teresa. You know, i'll tell you, but
(02:45):
you probably won't listen. But youare attractive. And look at that smile.
I mean, she's just got abeautiful smile and she's happy. And
I think that I think well, and I try to describe it to you
so you won't because you know,if I show it to you, then
I'll show to you guys. Sogo ahead and take a look. There
you go, take a look.Look how fit. She's very fit,
super fit, and she's beauty blueeye and she yeah, she does have
(03:07):
beautiful blue eyes, and she's gota nice smile. So this is why
I tell you, girls, yougotta smile more often so you look pretty.
I go over there and slap them, Bailey, what wow ah,
Bailey, thank you, Teresa.I appreciate that one next one, Dave,
regarding yesterday's podcast, You're Dry yourphysical therapist was using dry needling on
(03:31):
you because we were talking about whatthis therapist was doing and I didn't like
it. That was the one whereit's like she did it without asking.
She just said, here's what I'mgonna do, and she stuck these needles
and it was awful. Also, how long has been Jenny been doing?
How has Jenny been doing with hermental health? I've heard updates on the
I'm Still Fun podcast, but noton here lately. I feel for you,
(03:51):
lady, and hope the best foryou. Love the show from Kaylee.
I've been doing much much better.I think we have talked about it
on here before, but yeah, just a lot better. And I would
say, like, not every day'slike super great, and certain things kind
of just like set me off.I'm not going to talk about it on
here because it involves a listener, but I was put in like a bad
position a week and a half ago, oh or yeah, and it really
(04:13):
stressed you out. It really likeset me off. And it's weird because
that wouldn't have used to set meoff, but because I'm in like a
high anxiety state, right now,it did, and so there are certain
days that aren't as easy, butfor the most part it's been I've been
pretty good since starting the medication. That's good. So if you find yourself
in a situation like that, there'sprobably still a little bit of a stigma
about going, well, maybe Ishould get on some sort of medication,
(04:36):
and people maybe go, I don'twant to be on a medication. But
if it's worked for Jenny, didyou resist going on a medication, Like,
I'll work this out myself. I'mgoing to be more positive. Did
you try to work it out yourself? I mean, for ten years,
I've tried to. Like I hadawful anxiety in college, and back then
it was just such a different beast. Like I was like, I'm not
(04:59):
going to therapy. I'm not anyof that. But like six months ago,
I did actually start therapy and itworked for a while, but it
eventually hit a point where it wasn'tI needed something else. So that's why
I was like, hey, likethis therapy alone isn't working. I gotta
try medication. But I resisted toobecause I have always gotten through it in
the past before without medication or eventherapy, and that's like, truthfully not
(05:20):
healthy what I've put myself through inthe last like ten years. And you
know what the funny thing is is, it's so you know, you know
Jenny, and Jenny is kind ofa bright light and lights up a room
when she walks in, and Jennyis just fun and positive and whatever,
and it's very kind person. Inever saw anything other than you being stressed.
(05:42):
So I just looked at Jenny aslike she runs everywhere. She squeals
into the parking garage every morning ontwo wheels, going super fast, and
then she races in here with herbackpack and her computer, plops everything down,
thumps her water bottle down on thecounter, loudest thump ever, thump.
Jenny's here. Yeah, And Ialways thought, oh, well,
she's just that's just kind of theway, and that was probably part of
(06:02):
the whole thing. No, that'sfunny thing is that is just me.
The anxiety is when I'm quiet. The anxiety is when I am in my
head and I isolate myself. Imean, obviously I can't do that at
work, but I isolate myself awayfrom friends, away from even Andrew sometimes
and just try to deal with things. And yeah, that's when the anxiety
(06:24):
has had it's peak. Me justrunning around as me. Okay, all
right, that's just Jenny. Lizwrites in she is a big supporter of
the show, and she says,Hello, Dave, I'm sure you're gonna
get a lot of messages about yourquestion in today's Minnesota Goodbye. You had
dried needling done with your physical therapist, very different from micro needling, which
is dermatology based. PT doctors dothis. It is in their realm and
(06:46):
normal. I've not had it done, but friends fiance said she's had dried
needling done on her knee and hipafter injuries, and she explained it very
similar to what you had done onyour butt. Talks very weird. They
didn't give you a heads up beforefour because that would freak me out as
well. And I've had acupuncture withlong, thin needles and that doesn't bother
me. But a sudden needle dippingdeep, digging deep into me wood.
(07:10):
I hear the dry needling helps alot, but the process sucks and hurts
because it's a thicker needle. Anyway, Sorry, you felt violated, but
this was not something she made upor was just practicing on you it is
a legitimate thing. Unfortunately or fortunatelyHappy Friday from Liz. Yeah. I
just thought it was something like youshould sit down and maybe, like,
you know, explain it to somebody, show some diagrams, because you ever
(07:31):
go to the doctor, your doctor'slike, okay, well you barely you
got a problem with your spleen. Here's a little plastic model of your spleen,
and here's a duct over here whereyour spleen intakes you know whatever,
and then out and then they showyou a picture or a diagram or something
of your spleens. Sure. Ijust think that she should have sat down
and said, Okay, this iscalled dry needling, and we're gonna take
(07:54):
this needle and it goes in andhere's why. Yeah. Instead she just
said bend over comes again. AndI was like, I don't know anyway,
We've talked enough about that one.But I did get a lot of
people who were giving me information aboutdry needling, so I want to acknowledge
a couple of people. Jackie. She was saying that when Dave was explaining
(08:15):
his physical therapy experience, it gotme to thinking it was possibly a tens
unit, which is a type ofsticky patch they put on your skin that
sends an electrical impulse to the musclethat feels like a shock or a pierce
or a jolt. Settings controlled bythe PT, strength and frequency, et
cetera. Actually, people use theseTENS units at home with proper training.
(08:35):
Sometimes there are certain studies where theydo insert electrodes into your skin with a
needle to test for nerve activity.Anyway, being in healthcare, I just
had to send an email to trybest to inform and educate and I appreciate
that, and I also apologize onbehalf of that practitioner. No one should
leave an appointment without having a procedureexplained, consenting and understood before conducted.
(08:56):
Sincerely, longtime listener. I've actuallygot a TENS unit because on my belly
I went to a pain management specialistbecause I've had belly pain for probably more
than ten years, and it's justlike it comes and it goes, and
certain foods or drinks or whatever we'llset it off sometimes simple that something as
simple as like you know, likewater can make my belly hurt. And
(09:18):
it always hurts a little bit.Like right now, I'm about a two
and a half on a scale ofone to ten. Other times it's like
a nine and it's just awful. So I went to a pain management doctor
and he said, try this tensunit te NS and it looks about size
of cell phone with wires coming outof it, and it's got sticky little
pads on the end of the wiresand you stick them next to each other
(09:39):
and it sends an electrical impulse tothe muscles and makes them contract and it
feels kind of good. Oh,it's like a massage. I've never do
you wear this all the time?Even more like you sit on the couch
and you put it on for fifteentwenty minutes. You like to take your
shirt off every once in a while, and I've never seen you wearing it.
So I was like, well,no, it is. And you
can buy them, I think online, and that's not a prescription, require
(10:00):
fired or anything. And it's probablyone hundred bucks for one for one like
how many can you? How can? Okay? So it is a little
unit, like I said, probablythe size roughly of a cell phone.
It's got two little wires coming outand one wire you stick a new sticky
pad when the other one gets it'skind of like a lint roller. The
(10:22):
sticky will wear out after a while, so you put a new sticky pad.
You stick it on one part ofyour body, and then maybe six
inches you stick another one. Thenyou turn it on and you adjust it
whether you want. You know, you start it slow. You don't want
it to jolt you out of yourchair. You start it slow, and
then you turn it up and youcan have it go tap tap tap tap
tap tap tap tap. Or havea machine that can do that too?
(10:46):
What machine would that be, Bailey, A shaky thing? No, I
have not, but I have astory about Can I tell you the story
about a shaky Okay? So whenI was new in radio, I loved
this show called Rick D's in theWeekly Top forty. And I was about
(11:07):
twenty one years old and Rick D'sand the Weekly Top forty came on the
radio every Saturday night at six.And I remember my girlfriend Tammy, she
was a freak, and she wasa freak, and she was like wanting
to hook up, and She's like, let's go, let's hook up.
And I'm like, I got tolisten to Rick D's in the Weekly Top
forty. So I would sit onthe couch and around the corner in the
(11:31):
bedroom. I would hear Tammy andher shaky thing going, and I look
back on those days, I'm like, what a loser I was that I
was listening to a radio show ratherthan participating in some sort of fun activity
with Tammy. You're like, Tammy, stop trying to kiss me. I
can't hear what he's saying. What'sNo. Number one? Tammy? Goddamn
(11:54):
it? Thanks. I might havea couple of more of these two.
So let's see what else we've got. I gotta scroll a little bit.
Hold on, no, hold onone second, here it comes. Okay,
here we go. Good afternoon,my bean diddling friends. This is
(12:16):
Brianna. Brianna came in last week. Yeah, and she was she's she
called in and wrote in she said, can I come by the radio station
to say hi? Or maybe Iinvited her? I don't remember. And
so she came in and I said, you know what, we're allowed to
have visitors, you know, maybefifteen minutes, come in, we'll get
some pictures, we'll say hi,you know whatever. She's like, oh,
can she brought coffee? Right?Yeah? And so she can't.
(12:37):
She was so delightful, so charmingthat we didn't kick her out after fifteen
minutes, even though that's kind ofa violation of the policy. We said,
ah, we like you, Brianna. So she hung out and I
think she played a game or talkedabout something. Right. Well, she
was on the Minnesota Goodbye with Us. Oh, she said she was on
this podcast with us. And thenshe goes on to say, I am
(12:58):
replaying Thursday's visit over an over bestday ever. Any who. Then she
talks about dry needling, which Iwon't repeat, but she said that being
said, I have to sign aconsent form every time I do it because
they're inserting a needle into my body. So you absolutely should have had to
sign a consent form. Also,I meant to tell you this last week.
(13:18):
I think you should ask Gary Spiveywhat happened to your last lost stamp
collection, maybe like the time hetold you your lost ring was in your
car. That's it for now.Space Needle Studio guest and regular staff writer
Brie Yeah, I had a stampcollection from about fifth grade and it wasn't
(13:39):
valuable, but I'd worked really hardon it. Yeah, And then probably
about ten or fifteen years later,I lived in Ohio, and I went
to look for it, and I'venot seen it since. It was a
stamp album, kind of like athree ring notebook with pages in there and
you would put your stamps in.And I had a pretty cool as stamp
(14:00):
collection for a kid, Like Isaid, not valuable, but some pretty
cool stamps. And it's gone, and I just wish I had it back.
I w don't know who took it, like someone had to take it.
And that's the thing. It disappearedabout the same time as my Pentax
m E camera that I worked allthrough summer in high school to buy,
and that disappeared about the same time. And I always thought maybe somebody like
(14:22):
came into my apartment to fix thefurnace and they decided, well, let's
look and see what kind of shitthis guy has. Yeah, well here's
a camera and a stamp collection. They disappeared about the same time. And
it makes me sad because I'm surethat stamp collection is sitting in somebody's attic
right now, and the camera is, like, you know, it's in
the trash somewhere. So it justmakes me sad. But maybe I will
(14:43):
ask Gary Spivey about that. Ithink we're coming to the end of the
rainbow. Okay, okay, somebodysays. Elena writes in and she says,
poor Bailey's face is covered up onthe Facebook page age After her she
revealed her biggest insecurity was thinking shewas unattractive. Uncover her face so we
(15:07):
don't add to her complex. Bailey, you are beautiful, but I don't
know somehow on the Facebook page it'sthe profile picture. It is the profile
picture. It's only going to beon the mobile side of things. That
is the desktop. You're fine, but yeah, it's it's the way it
works when you do mobile, it'sdifferent. That is so funny. This
(15:28):
is there's other pictures of us thathave Vaunt on that side and you on
the other. We can just switcharound. The only the only picture I
like of me is the one that'salready on it. So I'm fine with
being covered up. That's hilarious. It's like a Mike was. You are
fully covered up, and when youlook at the mobile version, I'm just
peeking up all the way covered up. Wow, Like not even you see
(15:50):
like the top of her forehead. If you look here, I'm gonna switch
frownd d the top. That's likehow it's testing the size. So that's
fine. It's fine. That's hilarious. I think that's funny, and I'd
rather be covered up just for thecomedy. That's good. That was that
used to be me, I thinkon our last group photo, because I
(16:10):
was on that side and my facewas covered up on the mobile version.
Yeah, it was. So Iwant to keep it. I want to
keep this photo. That's that's mygood side? Is this one? Which
is your good side? Right? The right side? Why is your right
side the good side? Because theleft side has this mole on it.
I don't like it. It lookslike my face is melting off of one
side. I have a pocket knifein my pocket. I can lop it
(16:30):
off right now if you want.Okay, get some rubbing alcohol and a
Q tip. I'll take care ofit. I don't trust it. I
don't have a tee tip, Idon't have any rubbing it. Call it.
What can you show me which moleyou're talking about? Oh, I've
never noticed that in my life.Because I see it's it's a tiny little
mole. Forget of your like hitchhair in it, and I have to
pull it out disgust. Everyone getsa hair on their moles. That's like,
(16:52):
it's pretty normal. One singular Ihave like fifteen God sends a humor,
that's what he's doing. It's like, you know what, I'm gonna
put mole on your face and ifthat's not bad enough, I'm gonna have
a lot of hair grow out ofit. YEA, God's up there sitting
on a cloud going this will forceher to have a personality, Randa writes
(17:14):
in also a big time supporter ofthe show. Guys, I'm catching up
on the show and I have tosay Bailey is a delight. I love
the upbeat energy she exudes. Shereminds me of myself twenty years ago.
Am I the only one who envisionsa Dave Ryan show the musical? Okay,
that might be a bit much, but how about a talent show.
At least Bailey could do a remixof her favorite show tunes like You'll Be
(17:34):
Back from Hamilton as a hit karaokesong at the bar. I enjoy vont
on the show too, the Spanishwords he drops in and talking to us,
taking us to black Church. I'mall for it. Love to Jenny
and Dave two as always, HappySummer from Ranita Anita. I just wrote
it down Dave Ryan the musical.I have like such a dream of performing
the song either the Greatest show orthis is me for something for the show.
(17:56):
And I don't know why, butthose are two of my hypest songs
on my work out playlist. Iwill learn that that dance right and we
will come. Yes, it's sogood. It won't be a good dance,
but I will learn that for you. We should do them again.
We should do a talent show.We did one one time, didn't we
We've had talent shows yet, didyou do? Oh? Well? That
(18:18):
was like wait with us. Itwas when I was an intern and you
guys had us like interns do talentshows. And I jump ropes, but
I also was weird and I woreneon colors and crazy outfit and I screwed
up my routine and I was sodisappointed in myself because you guys only gave
me one chance, and I waslike, no, I swear I'm good,
but I'm better than this. Allright, We're gonna wrap things up
here with the Minnesota Goodbye. Thankyou for listening, have a blessed weekend.
(18:42):
Thanks for all the positive comments. Thanks for the information about dry needling,
and anything else you want to talkabout. We'll be back on Monday.
It is I think we have Juneteenthoff next Wednesday, but we're back
on Monday with another episode of TheMinnesota Goodbye and thanks for listening. Send
